[upbeat music] Gravity Bike is the ride. Yeah. [upbeat music] Oh, yeah. Hey everybody, it's Full Spectrum Cycling.
• 0:18
We're on the show number 302 today. Mm-hmm. Still got- Can't, um, still haven't come up with anything good in the 300s yet. No. Uh, I've been thinking of changing the theme song.
• 0:28
We got a bunch queued up that we could use again, so... I like it though. You know, kind of time for nostalgia. Time, time for going back in time.
• 0:36
[laughs] We've been doing the, uh, I don't know if you've been catching them on Fatbike.com, we've been doing the, the his- fat bike history. And I've been... 'Cause we did the weekly dose of fat bike then.
• 0:48
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. I've been pulling stuff from 2012. Oh, okay. So, you know, 13 years ago. Yeah.
• 0:55
On this week, 13 years ago, here's what we were talking about and go through the old post and see if the links still work, clear out ones that don't, 'cause you gotta do that anyway. Sure. Sure, sure.
• 1:04
And then put the ones that do work in the history one and say, "That's what was happening."
• 1:10
And then, yeah, and then do a little bit of, like, audit, equipment audit, going like, "Things have not changed in this ven- in this sphere." Yeah. I, and a lot of the stuff, I mean, it's, it, it was
• 1:21
a lot of ride reports and stuff. Mm-hmm. The Coast, the Coast kid was posting stuff, like, couple times a week. If you remember Bruce from, from over in, uh, Scotland.
• 1:29
He rides on the beaches and goes to the World War II stuff and- [sighs] Was that... W- uh, no, I'm thinking of somebody else. I'm thinking of the Swedish Lapland. Oh yeah, that was, uh, there's a couple guys up there.
• 1:40
Yeah, yeah. Tony, Tony Lund. Uh, but anyway- [laughs]... so it, I'd been kind of, it's fun- As we're [laughs] in my little nostalgia pocket.
• 1:47
Right, it's fun, it's fun reliving it because it's like, oh yeah, yeah, we were do- we were there back then. Mm-hmm. And in 2012- Like, right there.
• 1:55
Yeah, well, yeah, we were m- yeah, maybe- Yeah, like right across the s- wall. Yeah. [laughs] Maybe on the other side of that wall.
• 2:00
And then, then we were gone, and then I came back with another company that [laughs] we were in this room with when my buddy Ivan's dad passed away.
• 2:08
We ran his properties from in here, and then I let it go, and then we got it back again. [laughs] So [laughs] it's like this is the third round on being in this room in this building.
• 2:16
[laughs] Um, probably should have just kept this room and got rid of the big room, 'cause that thing's a m- a major mess over there.
• 2:24
Uh, but anyway, 2012, I don't know if you remember back then, it was when the lake was probably at its lowest level, so there's a lot of good shots of beach riding. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 2:33
And the good thing is, at least on Lake Michigan, the lake levels are down from what they were a couple years ago again. So we got beach back again. So that's good. And- That's why they were able to
• 2:46
salvage out- Oh, yeah... the SS Minnow. I, they were down there today- Yeah... hacking it up more. Yeah. That's kinda- I think it's gonna be gone, gone by the end of, of today. Oh, okay. Yeah. Oh.
• 2:57
The mayor, the mayor was down there [laughs] for God's sakes. They got a couple cool pic- pictures of him. [laughs] Yeah, the- Just- Well-... hanging on a rock, just looking at it, like- I-... yeah, all right.
• 3:07
You know, if they would- Good old- If, if people- Good old Chevrolet...
• 3:09
if people wouldn't have screwed it up and, and kept it intact basically and not started graffiting it up and everything, it was kind of a cool thing.
• 3:17
Once it, once it kinda went over the edge after Christmas, it was just like, nah. It was in- it inevitable. Yeah, I suppose. I mean, it was gonna go away. It just-
• 3:25
Just- All, all, it being all pockmarked and n- gnarly looking, it kinda hastened the, the move. Yeah. Like, uh, tour season's coming up. So, but it was there for a good six months. So that's- Yeah... that's cool.
• 3:36
Uh, local news, I'm, I'll put a picture of it. I don't know who's in Milwaukee that listens to this shindig, but, uh, our good buddy Lloyd Seawright's orange specialized- Specialized...
• 3:46
that he rides every single day all the time was stolen from his garage. These, these fucking- Mm... bike thieves, I... Boy howdy, do I wish we could, [laughs] uh, just string 'em up like an old horse thief.
• 3:59
Oh, yeah, yeah. Uh, and then somebody else in the neighborhood here had her bike stolen again. Yeah, Jen. Yeah, Jen. Yeah, it's just- I saw that one and was like- Such a-... "Oh, you son of a guns."
• 4:09
I mean, I wish I had spare bikes to give to people when their stuff got stolen, but it's like, here's the deal. If you haven't registered your bike at Bike Index, register it there.
• 4:18
If your bike gets stolen, report it there. And also, do report it to the cops. Even though they don't really do anything, it's still worthwhile reporting it. It's on log.
• 4:28
Yeah, because eventually people are gonna hold- I mean, you can't be completely ACAB about everything- No... in the world. I mean, I get some of the, the vibe, but- Yeah.
• 4:36
Well, you just have to- It's gotta, you gotta put that shit on once... gotta hold 'em accountable and, and say, you know, look, we [laughs] it's, it's obviously a problem. Get on that stuff. Anyway, so yeah, um,
• 4:50
so Lloyd's bike was stolen. Yeah. What is, what the... Oh, uh, Tony sent this thing in. Tony f- remember when Tony was there? That's JK by the way. Hi. I'm, I'm Sven. You probably already know that.
• 5:00
That was Tony, but now Tony's not here. Oh, the one that says for the show. Yeah, so we had- Okay, that threw me off...
• 5:05
we had talked about the 1,600 rider thing last week for the Riverwest 24, and he says that it has, that includes all the volunteers.
• 5:13
So there's probably 1,000 volunteers or more from last year who are guaranteed, uh, entry. Then- [laughs] Then, so the, there's only s- My lottery ticket is getting smaller. Right. The window's smaller and smaller.
• 5:26
Well, then there's only 600 available for f- slackers who didn't volunteer last year. Um, I don't know if I officially volunteered. I don't, I mean, I do the photo stuff and everything, and I do coverage for 'em.
• 5:36
Volunteer is- Staying at a... But then- It, it, it's in your head. Yeah. I mean- But I vol-... I feel like I volunteer in different places. Yeah. And I'm not sanctioned, like- Well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what?
• 5:47
And, and- But I, that's how I read it. And if you- [laughs]... I, you know. So the, Ton- Tony says, and I don't know if this is direct from the, uh,
• 5:56
uh, the prok horse's mouth or not, but he says that the, the goal and hope has been to have the ride only volunteers from the previous year. Huh. Fair enough. Right?
• 6:07
But also- The only reason to register is if you actually want to be scored and counted and have your laps counted. Sure.
• 6:14
Otherwise, you can just come and hang around and go to all the bonus checkpoints, of which there are 36 this year, and, you know, you don't have to register. Yeah You just show up- Yeah...
• 6:23
in Milwaukee on whatever the last weekend in July was. If you wanted to ride and do the route, you do the route. Yeah. And you can self-time yourself. Yeah. I mean, I've been saying that for- I mean, I've-... decades...
• 6:32
I didn't, I didn't register- For eight decades... for five years. I just, only the last couple years when we had a Scardina's team- Yeah... did I even- Well, I mean, if I, if I-... was on a team...
• 6:39
like, when I, when I've been doing the solo, um, it's like if I get in, I get in. That's cool. If I don't, I'll, I'll still [laughs] I'll still be in... I'll still spin around and, and, like, just passively time myself.
• 6:52
Well, yeah. If you wanna get- I just don't have something on wax to, like, look back at and be like, "Oh." You wanna get the, you wanna get the first lap in?
• 6:57
Hey, do you want, hey, do you want my- And, and the last lap in... my, my clever team name for solo? Come on. Come on. Yeah. I want it, you know? Well, what is it gonna be this year? Johnny Cash. No.
• 7:05
'Cause that was doing it. No, I don't have the... I, I would've worn that shirt. Oh, look, you, you got the- I'm, I'm a little-... Everyday Cycles shirt on. Look at that. Oh, that's nice. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 7:13
There we go. That, that's a- Yeah. No, that-... that's a club ride shirt, right? Yeah. You know what? Yeah. This is a club ride shirt as well. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. C- CR, it's on the back there. Yeah, yeah.
• 7:21
Well- Actually, I put it on first inside out and I didn't see anything, and I was like, "What the... Oh, now I got it" So I don't know, I don't know the address up there in Tosa where Tosa Bike Garage is,
• 7:32
but I think it's 15... I wondered if it's gonna become a vape shop because Tosa- [laughs]... Tosa Bike Garage is shutting down after five years of, of poking around at the bike business.
• 7:42
I don't know what precipitated it, but, uh, probably the fact that the bike industry sucks major ass right now. Mm. And, uh, they were, they were a small operation, did good service, always got good reviews.
• 7:54
Um, but another one bites the dust and it's like, yeah, I'm really curious if it's [laughs] gonna become a vape shop. I don't think Tosa's too keen on vape shops really, though. Uh... Maybe.
• 8:05
They're not, they're not like Milwaukee where you can put one on every corner. Right. You know? Right. So. Well, yeah. I mean, with vape shop comes also the really garish light system in the window. Yeah. Why? Why?
• 8:16
Because I don't know. Why? It's hand in hand. It has to- Well, but- You know... but, but Sense isn't that- Yet... bad Watch out. Uh, yeah, they do have a s- I mean- But they have the piping, but it's like, mm, you know?
• 8:27
[laughs] They're one person away from it being, like, hot, hot super fluorescent, zing- Yeah... you know, bug- Well, I think, I don't know... you know, bug zapping light kinda.
• 8:37
Maybe, maybe Brett is, is, uh, conscious enough not- Tamp- tamping it down [laughs]... yeah, it's like, let's put a cloud of smoke in front of that, bro. Right, right, yeah. Let's not worry about it. Just fog it.
• 8:46
Uh, speaking of dope smoking and, uh, and bike events- Mm-hmm... which, uh, we did do last weekend, The Green Mile, which was... There was 350 of these pre-rolls available. Yes.
• 8:57
These are, these are 10, what are they called? What is it, 10 pint, 10 something. I have no idea. So whatever the pre-rolls of things that are legal and get you high. So I don't know exactly what that means.
• 9:08
Uh, yeah, used it along the walk to the bus after the El Rongo opening ceremonies during the, uh- Right on... registration. Right on. And was like, ding, ding, ding. Yeah.
• 9:18
I'm like, all right, and then had a little bit for the walk over to the venue. So, yeah. Yeah. So both events, The Green Mile and, on, on Friday night, uh, and then the Milwaukee Messenger Invitational on Saturday,
• 9:30
uh, were, were excellent events. They were, uh, you know, pretty well-attended for just rebooting the whole idea- Mm-hmm... the first time in five years or whatever it's been.
• 9:39
Um, I tried, I did cover it with the photographic gear, and it's a hard thing to cover. Sure.
• 9:46
Because everybody is, uh, mostly going in different directions, and I went down to the farthest stop on Friday night figuring that, you know, people wanted those points, and Zito was in whatever bar it was down there.
• 10:00
And, uh- [laughs]... two people showed up. One of the two people that showed up was the guy that won it, so, uh, you know, you got, you gotta do your, gotta do your riding.
• 10:08
It also rained in River West, but it was, there was no rain south of Wisconsin Avenue. It was really weird. Oh, really? Yeah, it was dry as a bone down there at whatever.
• 10:17
What's that tavern called down there that he was at? I don't know. Black, not Twisted Fork, Widow something. Anyway. Bernhard's? Black- Dark, Dark Horse. Dark Horse. Dark Horse. Dark Horse. That was it. Yeah, yeah.
• 10:27
There, I knew I'd get it. Oh, I do remember it, uh, speaking of that one, yeah, because I, it's a bar I'd like to go to more, but they have, like, zero bike parking. Yep, that's true. And I mean, it's like, and zero
• 10:40
w- like, things to lash it onto. It's not like just like, "Ooh, I need a staple," and whatever. Right. But they don't have, like, a street sign or- Yeah...
• 10:48
whatever, like, for, like, a half block around, and I, you know, you wanna keep your eye lock on- Sure... I do, at least- Yeah... in this... I wanna f- at le- at least have a feeling for where it is.
• 10:58
Uh, th- to that point, there was a, a Facebook thing, thread, whatever you wanna call it, Face- Face farce, about,
• 11:06
uh, I think Andrew Zahn started it, another River West 24 guy, uh, about wanting more bike parking in Milwaukee, and I'm like, "That's great."
• 11:13
You know, all you have to do, especially if you're a business, is call the city or go out even on a website and fill a form out, and they will come and put a bike parking thing in front of your business. Free of charge?
• 11:24
Free of charge. Huh. You might even be able to do it as a homeowner. I'm not sure. The only caveat is it has to have a concrete, you know, pad. Apron. Apron. Right, right.
• 11:35
So your, your, you got your curb and you got your concrete instead of your curb and your parkway and your sidewalk. Oh, yeah, like, uh, uh, what's his fa...
• 11:41
Uh, speaking of nostalgia and weekly dose of fat, uh, the, um... Oh, God, what the hell was his name? Who? Who he? O- right over by Black Husky, uh, like s- just two houses south. Oh, um, uh, Russell.
• 11:58
Un- Uncle Bli- Not Russell... Speed Slip? Nah. Yeah. Dick's- Uncle Dick Speed Slip. Yeah. There we go [laughs]. The guy. Uncle Dick. It was, uh, uh, Rich. Rich Travis. Yeah. Did he, wasn't he there? Wasn't he there?
• 12:09
Where? Yeah, he was. There. Yeah, and there was a- Okay, I thought I was lo- And there was bike parking right in front of his place Yeah, it still is. That staple is still sitting there. Right, yeah.
• 12:16
So it's, it's, uh, it's, it's, it's, uh, not a public building. Right. It's a rental unit, but it was a store at one point back in the older times. Sure. Sure, sure, sure. But anyway, yeah.
• 12:24
Okay, I just thought I was losing my damn mind for a second. So, like, you can get the, you can get the loopy guy. Uncle Dick's Speed Slip. Yeah, that was it.
• 12:30
Like, and in front of the old shop on Locust, an e- Everyday Cycles shop- Mm-hmm... they put a loopy thing on the street sign that was right in front. So the, so it was, you know- Yeah... it was, like, attached to the...
• 12:41
and it was a loopy deal. Right. Uh, but yeah, anyway, I mean, if you're in Milwaukee and you want bike parking, just fill the form out. It's not such a big deal. Yeah. They'll, they'll come and do it.
• 12:51
Uh, boy, we're on Milwaukee for quite a while here. This is awesome. Yeah. Um- Yeah. Yeah. Where? Lake Express, the ferry that goes from here to Muskegon. Now we're in Michigan. We're going to Michigan. Yeah.
• 13:00
We've traveled across the water 70 miles- Very fast... at, at, like, 45 miles an hour. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Do... If, if you go out drinking heavily the night before [laughs] I would...
• 13:11
R- well [laughs] I, I would, I would, I would suggest not sitting down or laying down at any point in time. Just keep kinda walking- Yeah... around. If you have a- Just keep your legs...
• 13:21
if you have a smooth crossing, it's not as big a deal as if there's some- Eh, even that...
• 13:24
good waves, man I mean, no, no, it, it's one of those where it's like, no, you just gotta keep waiting until you- Go up on that, go up on the upper deck with that 45 mile an hour wind in your face, and just- Yeah...
• 13:32
poke your head over the- Oh, yeah. It's, like- Yeah... no smoking on it. Well, I mean, yeah, it's no smoking because it's, like, impossible to light your fucking cigarette. [laughs] 45 mile an hour wind. Yeah.
• 13:41
[laughs] Anyhoo, uh, it's Earth, it's Earth Day, uh, whenever, soonly if it's not ha- hasn't already been. Mm-hmm. Uh, might have already been- Every day is Earth Day... right on.
• 13:50
Every day is Earth Day, and every day is Record Store Day. So there you go. Yeah. So the thing- Save the planet... the thing that happens there every year that never seems to be on my radar until...
• 13:58
I, I know it's coming. Mm-hmm. But I can never find the information, and somehow you found the information, so the link is in the show notes. Yeah. But what they do down there
• 14:07
is you bring a serviceable bicycle in, could be, whatever, a 10, 15, $20 yard sale bike. As long as it has air in the tires and you can pedal it- Mm-hmm...
• 14:17
they'll take it and give you, in exchange for that bike, a, a voucher for a round-trip crossing from Milwaukee to Muskegon and back. I, I- It's, like, $183.89 value- Yeah... at this point...
• 14:31
very close to, very close to 200 bucks. Yeah. And, and, and if you're gonna take your bike, all you have to do is pay the 15 bones or whatever it is for your bike crossing. Sure. Yeah, totally.
• 14:37
So it's just, like, a no-brainer, and it's Friday, which will be tomorrow, between 8:00 and noon, and the first 500 people that come will get the voucher. And, uh, it just, I mean, it's a, it's a no-brainer. Yeah. Yeah.
• 14:50
Uh, and- I think that's why they wait till the last second to really do it. That could be. And all the same.
• 14:55
I wonder if you could get a round trip from, from Muskegon if you happen to be on that side and you're over here, and you could just... Probably, huh? [laughs] Why not? What's the difference? I don't know.
• 15:04
Well, have you been to Muskegon recently? I have... That said, no. It's not, I mean- We were 20- You know, like, okay, so where they're shooting the movie and, uh, Keefe- Yeah...
• 15:14
that's about the length of that downtown zone. Oh, it's a pretty good size. It's at least six blocks square. Come on. That's what I'm saying.
• 15:19
  There's a, oh, there's a nice, uh- There's a nice- There's a cut, there's a nice kind of- It's a nice, I'm not-... boot puppy thing... I'm not, I'm not...
• 15:24
Yeah, it's like the, uh, West Bend downtown- Decent bike shop over there... thing. Um, anyway, so you could do that. But that's not Muskegon Heights. That's where I stayed.
• 15:34
Uh, and, and- That's a lit- quite different than Muskegon... oh, I, [laughs] I heard about that, 'cause you guys didn't go- Yeah, that's like- You guys didn't go with us. No, that was like St. Louis and East St. Louis.
• 15:41
Yeah. I know. So that's about the- I know all about that... that's about the equation. [laughs] So- The, or equivalency. All right. Here's a final Milwaukee thing. Maybe. Uh, Elvis Cost- We're still in Michigan...
• 15:51
Elvis Costello's coming to Milwaukee, and he's doing My Aim is True and whate- what's the other one? Uh, early albums, which is my- Radio, Radeo... my favorite Elvis Costello stuff. Boy.
• 16:02
And at the Pabst Theater, which is the, probably the best venue in Milwaukee for seeing a guy like Elvis Costello. I like that. Yes. That's in October, so we got a lot of time to talk about that.
• 16:13
Uh, so hey, here's something. Oh, they're over there. Anyway, I got letters going out with sticker packs. See that sticker pack right there? A bunch of stickers in there, Fatbike.com stuff right there.
• 16:25
That, you can get yourself entered into a drawing. I draw, I, I draw. I drew. Draw. I drawred. I drawred [laughs] it to drawing. Show your drawing, Sullivan. [laughs] Not look at your bum. So I draw- Bum looker...
• 16:36
three people who've, who've, uh, subscribed to our email newsletter list. Cheeky monkey.
• 16:41
And I send them sticker packs every week until the end of April, and then I'll come up with something else, 'cause we really would love it if we could, uh, get you folks to re-subscribe if you were subscribed before to our email list, as that was very neglected during the,
• 16:58
during the dark times of Fatbike.com. Um, so yeah, so it's as easy as, as going and signing up, you know?
• 17:05
And then we're gonna give you emails that will have deals and discounts and news and events and all sorts of stuff for free. It's awesome. Oh, man, that was a lot. That got you to the top of the hill, didn't it?
• 17:20
[bell rings] It, it, it... Are you tired from your walk over here? I am. I'm not used to that. [laughs] Are you? Well, not yet. I mean, by fall you'll be a, an old hat. Old hand. Hat, hand, whatever the- Hell, no...
• 17:31
well, this is a- Why walk when you have the [mumbles] This is sort of a hodgepodge. I stopped- Yeah, yeah. We're- I stopped at- Yeah, slept overnight...
• 17:37
I stopped over at, uh, next door to Morphic and got a, a rodeo clown or cowboy or whatever the hell- Yep... that thing's called. Goat, boat, ro, or something like that. I was going to, but I didn't.
• 17:47
And I knew I wasn't gonna stop over there after, 'cause we're going somewhere else. Yeah. But it's also Three Minute Thesis Night, which means there's gonna be a bazillion people in there, and that's a fun event, though.
• 17:56
Yeah. But anyway, so- And it was al- uh, it was already ramping up. [laughs] And you got the Sierra Nevada- Tropical Hop, Hop, Hop-... Hop Tropical from-... Tropical IPA... from last week maybe or some such?
• 18:06
Two, like, two weeks ago I think. Yeah, and then we got the Grateful Dead, whatever this one was. I mean- Yeah... that's gonna be my- My capper right there from Dogfish Head- Yeah, yeah, yeah...
• 18:14
which is a place- Well done on the, un- well done on the design, I always say... right. Just because of the name, Dogfish Head, I would like to go out to wherever the hell that is. Delaware?
• 18:23
It's New Hampshire or Delaware or some- Something like that... somewhere out there on the East Coast and find out what, what, what Dogfish Head is like. It's- Yeah... gotta be a thing that- Well, they have like a-...
• 18:32
sticks out into the water, right? Yeah. That's what a head is. Well, no, they have a, they have a... Oh, what it actually is.
• 18:36
Well, their brewery, they have like a tree house, like a killer, like a, like a, like a cool, like an adult tree house. [laughs] Like a- You s- seen... Have you been there or just seen it in pictures? No, I just...
• 18:47
In pictures or on... Back in the day when, uh, A&E, The Learning Channel, Discovery did, like, all those little, uh, reality TV shows. Like, uh, Kent the Blacksmith. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 19:05
He had a, a season on one of them. Yeah. So they did a season of something like that at Dogfish Head. Okay. And they...
• 19:10
It was like, "Hey, here's our tree house," or something like that, and I was like, "Shit, that's cool." I mean, yeah, I'd love...
• 19:16
I mean, I wouldn't love, I wouldn't not love working at a brewery, but a brewery with a- Tree house... freaking tree house and like, yeah. Okay, this is working.
• 19:26
So, we talked about RAGBRAI last week, I think, the r- Mm... bike ride across Iowa. The, it, it, it looks like a cool route. And I had RAGBRAI themes. They are, they do have daily themes.
• 19:35
I don't know what I did with the thing to tell you about them, though, so I'll f- I'll come up with that for next week. Uh, did you ever buy anything from Nashbar,
• 19:46
the online bike superstore that had been around for a long time? I think they actually- Wait, wait... they actually, they actually had a paper catalog. What was the name? Nashbar. Oh, no. 'Cause I remember you had
• 19:57
told me about this one damn... And I thought it... Okay, it's not the same one. So in the early days before the interwebs, they actually had a, a, a paper catalog that was like, you know, kind of the Dream Book.
• 20:09
Uh, the guy that founded it, Arnie Nashbar, passed away. It was, he was old, 80, in his 80s. Yeah.
• 20:15
But he was kind of a trailblazer on the old, uh, mailing bike parts to you from somewhere else and warehousing a bunch of stuff. Hmm. Bye, Arnie. Sad, sad. Hmm. Mm-hmm. In- Well, oh, yes.
• 20:30
Speaking of passings and, and resurrections, how was your 4/20? I, I- The Sunday after- Well, we-... all of the- Yeah, we-... festivities... we, well, we had my mom over, which was nice.
• 20:41
Uh, we had a excellent egg casserole with ham and all sorts of good stuff in it. That was great. And then, uh, yeah, it was just like a family visit. It was relaxing and, and, and goodly. Yeah. How about yourself?
• 20:54
Did you, uh, did you partake? You had, did you have ham? No. Went down to Chicago on Saturday night. Had, uh, some weird...
• 21:04
Well, it was kinda stony, uh, like a shrimp Alfredo with pesto and blackening seasoning and shrimp and sausage. Was it at a restaurant, or was it at- No, that's what we made. Oh, you made it, okay. [laughs] Yeah.
• 21:18
Um- But then hung out, uh, way down in Crestwood, Illinois, at The Thirsty Beaver. Is that south of Chi-town? Oh, yes. Yeah, okay. It's, like, south of Chi-town and, like, equidistant, uh, uh, west of Gary, Indiana.
• 21:36
I mean- Gary, Indiana... it's down there. Gary, Indiana. It's down there. Gary, Indiana. So yeah, but then the day of when I rose [laughs] And then ti- hey, time to take off,
• 21:47
uh, I was like, "Nah, let's, let's approach downtown from the south and go through the downtown area." Okay. Yeah, Lake Shore Drive. Uh- 'Cause there was a place I wanted to pick up a frozen pizza and, um- Not 7-Eleven?
• 22:03
No. [laughs] Uh, Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company. They have a pizza pot pie. Pizza pot pie. That you cook. Hey, papa, my papa. You cook it, and then you gotta flip it over into a vessel and- Oh...
• 22:14
it's, it's awesome. That sounds good. Yeah. Again, another thing I saw on cable television- Oh... History- It's not all bad... Travel Channel, something like that. I- Uh, found parking. They were closed. Oh, boy.
• 22:28
But it was like, okay. Was that- Was it a Leaning Tower of Niles? Was that on Easter? Yeah. Well, yeah. I should... Well, it's a restaurant. It's a money maker if you're open. Yeah, I suppose that's true.
• 22:38
Well- I, I- Man, just got all sta- you know, it just... And then stopped, of course, at White Castle. Well, sure. Got a crave clutch. They have a crave clutch now. Definitely done that twice in a day on p- uh, huh.
• 22:48
Clutch is 20 of them. Oh. Case is 30. Nice. And, but the 20 is awesome. Did you freeze them? And it's also go- no, I'm eating them. [laughs] You eating them all? Uh, well, yeah, Kim's getting in there. Oh, okay.
• 22:59
She's like, "Oh, didn't even need the cheese." I'm like, "Huh, sh- why are you... I shoulda got a case." Yeah. And your first order was 20% off if you order through the mobile app.
• 23:10
No, but- Not that I really wanna shill for, you know- White Castle?... White Castle, but what the hell, man? It was a deal, man. And hmm, yeah.
• 23:17
Definitely better than getting them out of the frozen food section at your local store. Yeah, yeah.
• 23:22
And you get the ones without the cheese, and then you just have your own processed cheese, and you put that on there in 30 seconds and this is- I love, I love my microwave... done, done, done. Um- Just works out...
• 23:33
with all our, with all our 4/20 talk, I bet folks might be thinking that this thing here is some sort of device for using with your, with your, with, like, you could put- Marijuanas?
• 23:43
You might be able to put this in here. Ooh. Well- Had to go- I guess it doesn't go through... it had to go the other end.
• 23:49
Uh, but what this is, is a thru axle for, uh, [coughs] a Salsa Kingpin fork, which I'm gonna put on the fat bike, but what these fancy Robert Axle Project people have come up with is this little doodad that goes into
• 24:05
the end of your thing, s- so it's stored, that will hold a tubeless tire repair thingamajigger on there, which I didn't have on there 'cause I gotta take some pictures of it.
• 24:17
But then you always have it with you when you need it. It's in your axle. Isn't that clever? I like that. Those Robert Axel people, they, they think about stuff.
• 24:25
We're gonna have a, a little review on fatbike.com about that just 'cause it's a cool thing. And 'cause they sent- Not be like State Bike- And 'cause they sent-...
• 24:32
and have the Doper in there [laughs] And 'cause they sent- I thought you were gonna put the Doper in there No, they could do that too, though. I know. Those- I'm sure you could.
• 24:38
Yeah, I mean- I mean, it doesn't take much. We should probably do that on our own. Huh. Anyway, speaking of State Bicycle, they got a new, uh, hard tail out that looks very well-equipped for a paltry $1,500.
• 24:49
I wanna check that out. I don't have the link here, but I'll put it in there. And, and finally, since we got, we got places to be, folks. We're, we're not gonna- Yeah... goof off today too much. Right.
• 25:00
Uh, for you Star Wars folks- Star Wars And/or Nothing but Star Wars... season two is coming. Is. Is here? It's here. It's here. Oh, damn. Good. I was just...
• 25:11
I, I was slowly getting myself caught up, and I was trying to do it at work, but- [laughs]... sons of bitches were actually giving me work. I'm just like, "Dude, really?" Well, and that, coupled with the fact that...
• 25:23
Eh, this is funny, because it, it'll d- it dovetails directly into Star Wars. I went to- Nothing but Star Wars [laughs] I went to, uh, the library to pick up four items that were on hold.
• 25:37
Yes, two of 'em being Star Wars books. One of 'em, like, the latest Star Wars encyclopedia, which is huge. It's, like, six pounds, easily. Wow. And robust of, like, shit I've never even seen before.
• 25:51
I just kinda thumbed through it. I'm like, "Whoa, holy crap." It's a, it's a paper book, not- Yeah. Okay. Gotcha. Exactly. Uh, yeah, yeah, just impulse reserve from the library. So I check it out, da, da, ding, go home.
• 26:03
Okay, night progresses, whatever. I wake up this morning. I can't find my wallet for the life of me. So all I can think is, "Okay, the last time I used it was at the library."
• 26:14
[sighs] Went there, went village hall, went to the c- you know, it, it was like [imitates fast footsteps]. Yeah, I did find it at home. Oh [laughs].
• 26:22
But it was all based on Star Wars, and I was trying to slowly watch the first season again- Okay... to digest it, 'cause there is some shit I really did miss- Gotcha... last time.
• 26:37
And I've heard only but awesome things about- That's, I've, the-... the second season so far... what I read was, like, y- I should be watching it. I th- Mm-hmm... think we still have...
• 26:44
It's, is it, it's Disney Plus, right? Yep. Okay. I think we have that. I might have paused it because there wasn't anything new coming up that I really wanted to watch, but it's worth looking at. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 26:55
It works out. Right on. It, it scratches my Star Wars itch as the, uh, AI generated [laughs] action figures. I had a Jar Jar on me. Oh, yeah, I put a Jar Jar in there for you.
• 27:08
[laughs] Uh- I, you know, okay, if I have to defend him, I will. Yeah. But it'll, it'll be like, I don't want to, but if I, I- Yeah... it's like the old debate class.
• 27:16
I, I wasn't gonna put, you know, the c- the classic ones in there. [laughs] I just thought, eh, yeah, let's put Jar Jar in there. Did a pretty good job. [laughs] Uh, so yeah, I think that's, we kinda got through today.
• 27:26
Uh, do, do-do, do-do, next event in Milwaukee is the Fat Tire Tour that I have on the list. There's other stuff coming up June 14th, so.
• 27:34
And I, if, if you didn't see it already, check out, uh, my, my Chumba titanium fat bike frame is for sale.
• 27:41
Sure would be cool if somebody would, would buy that, 'cause we gotta keep the machine running, and cash dollars are kinda gonna make that happen if we get it going, so. There's a link in the show notes.
• 27:52
It's also on the Everyday Cycles website, where you can find it at the top of the page, prominently displayed. And if you listen to this show, you can take 200 bucks off that sucker.
• 28:03
I got it for 1,500 there with the, uh, with the custom Sturdy Designs frame bag, which was, like, 300 bucks. Uh, you can get 200 bucks off if you say you heard it on the show, then
• 28:15
put in the, put in there, "Hey, give me, give me some money back," you know? All right. I listened. Yeah. Um, so yeah, so yeah, so yeah. So wait, I got s- I got stuck. It was like a record skipping.
• 28:27
Put the needle on the rec- put the needle on the rec- [laughs]... put the needle on the record. Bang, bang. Psh. I guess we'll, we'll be back next week, and we'll probably have more sh- stuff to talk about. Bye. Bye.
