- 0:06Speaker 1: I got back normally, it showed normally. Take in the
- 0:09Speaker 1: news year and I am Mary Katherine.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And I'm Calm Market. I'm Mary Catherine.
- 0:14Speaker 1: How's going, Oh, it's going all right. Getting through this week,
- 0:18Speaker 1: my hard week of having no dependence and going to
- 0:20Speaker 1: the gym and doing podcasts, eating by myself stressful.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I again loved my time at Hillsdale, so I hope
- 0:28Speaker 2: you're enjoying it as well. The kids are amazing. Are
- 0:32Speaker 2: you finding it smart?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Fun? Yes?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well dressed. Nobody at my college dressed like that.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Everybody in my school was in pajamas. They're all in
- 0:41Speaker 2: like business where.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I was so thankful that you told me that, because
- 0:45Speaker 1: I would have dressed medium to down had you not
- 0:49Speaker 1: warned me. And I get in there and they're all
- 0:51Speaker 1: professional looking and right have their hair nice when I
- 0:55Speaker 1: arrive and I'm like, oh goodness, we got to up
- 0:57Speaker 1: the anty hair.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Molly him, anyway, was the one who told me about
- 1:01Speaker 2: the fact that they dressed up, because I was planning
- 1:03Speaker 2: to be like jeans in a sweater, like not like
- 1:05Speaker 2: not nice. But you know what I saw My teachers
- 1:08Speaker 2: were in college.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yep, No, they're they're good to go they're they're ready
- 1:13Speaker 1: for the real world.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I really more than most college students for sure.
- 1:19Speaker 3: All right, let's get into it. The war with Iran continues.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It's looking pretty good.
- 1:26Speaker 2: The Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine gave
- 1:30Speaker 2: a joint press conference today, and I mean they said
- 1:35Speaker 2: some interesting stuff. I thought that Pete Hegseth remains somebody
- 1:39Speaker 2: that I think was just born for this role. Look,
- 1:42Speaker 2: I defended him when he was having a tough time
- 1:45Speaker 2: getting confirmed, and I really felt like he was the
- 1:48Speaker 2: guy for this job at this time, and I think
- 1:51Speaker 2: every day since then I have felt very good about it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: He's really is the guy here to bring our defense
- 1:58Speaker 2: capabilities to the next level, to get more enrollment, which
- 2:02Speaker 2: he has done significantly, and just to be a cheerleader
- 2:06Speaker 2: and praise the heroics of our military in such a
- 2:10Speaker 2: way that I just think we haven't seen in a while.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So we're going to roll. We're going to start it
- 2:15Speaker 2: off with a short clip of him talking today. We
- 2:18Speaker 2: have two short clips of him. Here's Pete Heegsath.
- 2:21Speaker 4: We sunk their prize ship, the Solomoni. Looks like Potus
- 2:27Speaker 4: got him twice. There Navy not a factor. Pick your adjective.
- 2:32Speaker 4: It is no more.
- 2:33Speaker 3: In fact.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yesterday in the Indian Ocean and we'll play it on screen.
- 2:38Speaker 4: There an American submarine sunk an Iranian warship that thought
- 2:44Speaker 4: it was safe in international waters. Instead it was sunk
- 2:48Speaker 4: by a torpedo.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Quiet death.
- 2:52Speaker 4: The first sinking of an enemy ship by a torpedo
- 2:54Speaker 4: since World War II. Like in that war, back when
- 2:58Speaker 4: we were still the war depart we are fighting to win.
- 3:03Speaker 2: He just seems like he's having so much fun. He's like,
- 3:06Speaker 2: this is what I'm here to do.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I've been more skeptical of him, and I was very
- 3:11Speaker 1: excited for him on a recruiting front because I did
- 3:13Speaker 1: think that having been in combat and being a guy
- 3:16Speaker 1: who could relate to younger men that he was men
- 3:19Speaker 1: and women, that he was a person who could bring
- 3:21Speaker 1: more in the door. You can't argue with a lot
- 3:24Speaker 1: of the operational success of the military since he has
- 3:28Speaker 1: been at top. I love listening to General Kane as well.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He's so obviously got to meet him in December actually
- 3:35Speaker 1: briefly at the Travis Mannin Foundation Gallop and these guys
- 3:39Speaker 1: are impressive. I know that the press is like, oh,
- 3:42Speaker 1: he's just brown out up there. But here's the thing, good,
- 3:45Speaker 1: good bro out, Here's the thing. The press is attempting
- 3:50Speaker 1: to manifest operational failure from operational success, right, that's like, nope,
- 3:58Speaker 1: are US men's hockey teaming the strikes where they're like, no, no, no,
- 4:03Speaker 1: We're going to say that all of this is a
- 4:05Speaker 1: problem as it's happening, even though what you're actually doing
- 4:10Speaker 1: is creating air supremacy over the entire country of Iran
- 4:16Speaker 1: and doing pretty amazing things, bringing together coalitions that the
- 4:21Speaker 1: world has never seen. Right, who would have Who would
- 4:24Speaker 1: have thought five years ago if you said, well, yes,
- 4:26Speaker 1: the Arab States are going to join with the US
- 4:28Speaker 1: and Israel in backing the striking of Iran and the
- 4:33Speaker 1: killing of coming.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Open and yeah, because a lot of a lot of
- 4:37Speaker 2: times they do stuff behind the scenes, but they don't
- 4:39Speaker 2: do things quite as openly as they're doing it here.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And you mentioned air supremacy. Here's one more short clip
- 4:46Speaker 2: of Pete Hagsath talking about just that.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Starting last night and to be completed in a few
- 4:51Speaker 4: days and under a week, the two most powerful air
- 4:55Speaker 4: forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies,
- 5:00Speaker 4: contested airspace. I hope all the folks watching understand what
- 5:05Speaker 4: uncontested airspace and complete control means. It means we will
- 5:10Speaker 4: fly all day, all night, day and night, finding, fixing
- 5:15Speaker 4: and finishing the missiles and defense industrial base of the
- 5:19Speaker 4: Iranian military, finding and fixing their leaders and their military leaders,
- 5:25Speaker 4: flying over Tehran, flying over Iran, flying over their capital,
- 5:30Speaker 4: flying over the RGC, Iranian leaders, looking up and seeing
- 5:37Speaker 4: only US and Israeli air power every minute of every day.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Until we decide it's over in Iran, we'll be able
- 5:48Speaker 4: to do nothing about it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: B two S B fifty two s B.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Ones, predator drones, fighters controlling the skies, picking targets, death
- 5:59Speaker 4: and destruction from the sky all day long.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Just amazing, all day long.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I came across a line Derek Thompson of the Atlantic
- 6:10Speaker 1: was interviewing another Atlantic writer, A Kareem Sadriphor, and I
- 6:14Speaker 1: just want to note that that was him who said this,
- 6:16Speaker 1: because I think it's fantastic. He says, I think this
- 6:18Speaker 1: might be one of the few instances in modern history
- 6:20Speaker 1: where a greater percentage of the society being bombed was
- 6:23Speaker 1: supportive of military action than the society that was doing
- 6:26Speaker 1: the bombing, because the initial snap polling here has been
- 6:29Speaker 1: a little rocky for the administration, I think because a
- 6:32Speaker 1: lot of people just go, is this Iraq? I don't
- 6:34Speaker 1: want this to be Iraq?
- 6:35Speaker 4: Right?
- 6:36Speaker 1: But we have another hole a CBS poll that was
- 6:39Speaker 1: asked in a really interesting way. One. I think it's
- 6:42Speaker 1: worth noting that every bombing run you see videoed in
- 6:46Speaker 1: Iran is followed by laughing and clapping, so I think
- 6:48Speaker 1: carrying important important context. But the CBS poll asked, do
- 6:53Speaker 1: you approve or disapprove of military action against Iran if
- 6:56Speaker 1: you think the conflict conflict would last years, and the
- 6:59Speaker 1: number is thirteen percent, months forty six percent, days or weeks,
- 7:06Speaker 1: seventy six percent would approve. So this looks like they're
- 7:11Speaker 1: ahead of schedule in establishing what they want to establish
- 7:15Speaker 1: and that the outcome could be within weeks or months.
- 7:19Speaker 1: That's right, which would mean you're on the good side
- 7:21Speaker 1: of American public approval, which is what we've been saying
- 7:23Speaker 1: is that if Trump strikes and uses power quickly, efficiently,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and effectively, Americans are like great, great.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and look, things again appear to be going while
- 7:35Speaker 2: Iran's strikes are slowing down, they're running out of missiles,
- 7:38Speaker 2: et cetera. Yesterday, so we're recording this on Wednesday. On Tuesday,
- 7:42Speaker 2: the Israeli Air Force attacked Iran and destroyed another meeting.
- 7:47Speaker 2: They were having another in person meeting, Mary Catherine somebody
- 7:50Speaker 2: on x this account called the Salon Dawn tweeted even
- 7:55Speaker 2: Jamie Diamond, who is CEO of JP Morgan, would be
- 7:58Speaker 2: impressed by Iran's commitment to in person meetings. Yes, seriously,
- 8:03Speaker 2: the council is comprised of eighty eight religious leaders and
- 8:06Speaker 2: they were choosing the new Ayahtola and the Israeli Air
- 8:10Speaker 2: Force blew them up, you know, allegedly. It's just it's amazing.
- 8:15Speaker 2: It's amazing to watch two militaries who are really on
- 8:19Speaker 2: top of their game do this, and it's amazing to watch,
- 8:24Speaker 2: like you said, the other countries in the Middle East
- 8:26Speaker 2: participate on the side of the US and Israel. It's
- 8:30Speaker 2: impressive and it's a testament to what Donald Trump has accomplished.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I know people don't want to give him any credit,
- 8:35Speaker 2: but this is something that could only happen because Donald
- 8:40Speaker 2: Trump is a little different plays things completely differently than
- 8:44Speaker 2: other politicians have and is able to get people together
- 8:48Speaker 2: who would have never considered being together.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Meanwhile, the alliance that should be coming to the rescue
- 8:54Speaker 1: of the Iranians, China and Russia, nowhere to be seen. China,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I believe, noted the other day that it was to
- 9:00Speaker 1: offer moral support, and Chinese air defenses apparently have been
- 9:03Speaker 1: found to be not at all helpful, as you can
- 9:06Speaker 1: tell by our air supremacy at this point. There is
- 9:09Speaker 1: an argument back home again, a lot of press about, okay, well,
- 9:13Speaker 1: what is the rationale for this war? And to me
- 9:16Speaker 1: it is To me it is well, they've been at
- 9:19Speaker 1: war with us since nineteen seventy nine and we have
- 9:22Speaker 1: never struck directly because we were worried about the capacity
- 9:26Speaker 1: that they had. During Obama years, the strong preference was
- 9:31Speaker 1: for appeasement. But you can make an argument that we're
- 9:33Speaker 1: appeasing because we're afraid of what they have. We're going
- 9:35Speaker 1: to extend this deadline. Right The Iran that exists right
- 9:39Speaker 1: now when this strike was planned, is a different Iran
- 9:44Speaker 1: and capabilities than it was at any other time since
- 9:47Speaker 1: nineteen seventy nine. It is laid bare. Thank you Israeli
- 9:51Speaker 1: strikes on their air defenses thank you Israeli and US
- 9:55Speaker 1: Intel and so dealing with it at this moment, particularly
- 9:59Speaker 1: if you have a chance to hit Kamani, because you
- 10:02Speaker 1: know where he is, seems like a pretty good shot
- 10:06Speaker 1: to take.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely. Another person who has been really impressive during
- 10:12Speaker 2: this time is obviously Secretary Marco Rubio, you know, longtime
- 10:16Speaker 2: fans here on normally. He also has had some really
- 10:21Speaker 2: amazing comments that he's made during this time. He said
- 10:24Speaker 2: something that was misconstrued by people on the internet on purpose. Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 2: said that they took it to mean that Israel forced
- 10:36Speaker 2: the US to get into this war, which is ridiculous.
- 10:39Speaker 2: So to clarify, he said this, Listen, let me.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Explain to you guys. This is simple English.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:46Speaker 5: Aroan is run by lunatics, religious fanatic lunatics. They have
- 10:50Speaker 5: an ambition to have nuclear weapons. They intend to develop
- 10:53Speaker 5: those nuclear weapons behind a program of missiles and drones
- 10:56Speaker 5: and terrorism that the world will not be able to
- 10:58Speaker 5: touch them for fear of those things. And this is
- 11:00Speaker 5: the weakest they've ever been. Now is the time to
- 11:03Speaker 5: go after them. The President made the decision to go
- 11:05Speaker 5: after them. Take away their missiles, take away their navy,
- 11:07Speaker 5: take away their drones take away their ability to make
- 11:10Speaker 5: those things so that they can never have a nuclear weapon.
- 11:13Speaker 5: That's why the President made this decision. It was the
- 11:15Speaker 5: right decision, and the world will be a safer place
- 11:17Speaker 5: when these radical clerics and a lot of them have
- 11:20Speaker 5: access to these weapons. You see how they're using them now,
- 11:22Speaker 5: imagine how they would use them a year from now
- 11:24Speaker 5: they had more of these.
- 11:26Speaker 1: By the way, this is a great argument that Iran
- 11:28Speaker 1: is making against itself, Yeah, is that they're randomly shooting
- 11:32Speaker 1: whatever they have at anyone, including actual allies of Theirs.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Cutter and Oman are like, wait, what's happening. I thought
- 11:40Speaker 1: we had a thing, but y'all don't have a thing.
- 11:42Speaker 1: They don't have a thing because these are lunatics. As
- 11:45Speaker 1: Rubio points out. Now, I will say I do think that,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and I know it's not Trump's style, and what you
- 11:50Speaker 1: get from Trump is the guy who will hit Iran.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So you don't necessarily get the sit down Oval office
- 11:55Speaker 1: resolute desk address. But I do think that is owed
- 11:58Speaker 1: to the American people. I think could go out and
- 12:00Speaker 1: make the exact argument that Rubio made quickly in an
- 12:03Speaker 1: Oval address office and that it's serious and this needs
- 12:06Speaker 1: to be taken seriously. Yeah, I would appreciate that, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: I think it would clear up some of this, but
- 12:11Speaker 1: it should the reporters can have brains in their heads.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And remember a couple months back after Midnight Hammer, when
- 12:18Speaker 1: Israel had jets flying over ran on their way and
- 12:23Speaker 1: Trump said stop and pull them back, and they did
- 12:27Speaker 1: because Trump is not This delegation is stupid, right, it's stupid,
- 12:32Speaker 1: this idea that Trump. Yeah, that Trump could be forced
- 12:35Speaker 1: into something. Come on, have you met them? They also
- 12:38Speaker 1: chopped up Rubio's quote on purpose to mislead people, because
- 12:42Speaker 1: he was asked two separate questions why and why now?
- 12:46Speaker 1: And the why now was well, we had found this
- 12:49Speaker 1: target of opportunity together and Israel was going to take
- 12:52Speaker 1: it right, Like, that's how this works, guys. I also
- 12:56Speaker 1: think we're in a double bind where it's like, if
- 12:58Speaker 1: America acts alone, that's bad, but if America acts with
- 13:01Speaker 1: the other most capable intel and military, that's also bad.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there was a piece in Axios. It was
- 13:09Speaker 2: Mark Caputo and Barack revied. Barack Revied is who gets
- 13:14Speaker 2: normally planted the stories from inside the administration of people
- 13:19Speaker 2: skeptical of military action. So it's kind of interesting that
- 13:22Speaker 2: he had this story, which was that last Monday, Israeli
- 13:26Speaker 2: Prime Minister Benjamin Ett, yeah who called President Trump with
- 13:28Speaker 2: a stunning tip Iran supreme leader and his top advisors
- 13:32Speaker 2: were all set to meet at one location in Tehran
- 13:35Speaker 2: on Saturday morning. They could all be killed in a
- 13:37Speaker 2: single devastating airstriken and yeah who told Trump and his team,
- 13:40Speaker 2: according to three sources briefed on the discussion, and obviously
- 13:44Speaker 2: Trump said, let's do it. Let's do it. Why wouldn't
- 13:47Speaker 2: they do it?
- 13:48Speaker 1: You know? What this reminded me of yesterday was was
- 13:52Speaker 1: Bush's attempt to reform social Security. I know that sounds weird,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but in the moment, it was a very politically unpopular thing.
- 14:00Speaker 1: But he thought it was the right thing to do.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He thought that it was necessary for the country's finances,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and had it happened, we would be in a much
- 14:10Speaker 1: better position now than we are, had he been able
- 14:13Speaker 1: to convince everyone and everyone not dug their heels in
- 14:16Speaker 1: about it. In foreign policy, the president has a lot
- 14:18Speaker 1: more power. So what Trump did is he took his
- 14:21Speaker 1: somewhat politically unpopular reform and risk and he did it.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I do think in twenty years we will be
- 14:28Speaker 1: much safer as a result. That's absolutely we will have
- 14:31Speaker 1: a better world order because the head of this snake
- 14:34Speaker 1: was lopped off, and even if you don't get perfect
- 14:37Speaker 1: freedom in the aftermath in Iran, it is hard to
- 14:40Speaker 1: get worse than what we had.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's absolutely right. And the thing is we won't
- 14:45Speaker 2: see it that way, or since it that way, what
- 14:47Speaker 2: we could only see when it's worse. Right, I can
- 14:49Speaker 2: only see that the social not privatizing what was it,
- 14:52Speaker 2: five percent of social security has ended up being a
- 14:55Speaker 2: bad thing for us. It's much tougher with a situation
- 14:58Speaker 2: like Ran to be like, oh, well we feel safer,
- 15:01Speaker 2: we are safer, but we will be safer and that's
- 15:04Speaker 2: the reality of it.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Well, I think some people are resistant to believe that
- 15:09Speaker 1: these far off dangers cause problems for us. But the
- 15:13Speaker 1: alliance of Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, especially with those
- 15:19Speaker 1: couple in our backyard, very dangerous. Yeah, very dangerous. I
- 15:23Speaker 1: would also note there was an update on this front
- 15:25Speaker 1: of Machado's, who is the opposition leader in Venezuela, says
- 15:30Speaker 1: she's coming back to Venezuela soon and there is the
- 15:33Speaker 1: suggestion that there will be elections, so that is moving
- 15:36Speaker 1: in the direction of the Venezuelan people making decisions about
- 15:39Speaker 1: that country. So we hope the best for both of
- 15:41Speaker 1: those countries and that for it to work out in
- 15:43Speaker 1: that way.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Absolutely, Eventually, Iran, their Ranian people are going to have
- 15:47Speaker 2: to kind of rise up and do their own thing
- 15:50Speaker 2: and decide what kind of government they're going to have,
- 15:53Speaker 2: and America role is to secure that for them, but
- 15:56Speaker 2: then they have to take over.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Can I on the note that this of course comes
- 16:01Speaker 1: with very serious risk. We now have the names of
- 16:04Speaker 1: four of the American troops who died in Kuwait. Those
- 16:08Speaker 1: killed according to PBS, and this is from the Pentagon
- 16:10Speaker 1: where Captain Cody Cork thirty five of winter Haven, Florida,
- 16:13Speaker 1: Sergeant first class Noah T. Tins excuse me for not
- 16:17Speaker 1: knowing how to pronounce that forty two of Bellevue, Nebraska,
- 16:19Speaker 1: Sergeant first class Nicole Amore thirty nine of White Bear Lake, Minnesota,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and Sergeant Decland Cody twenty of West des Moines, Iowa.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I know that Nicole Amor was a mom of young kids.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Decland Cody had become an Eagle Scout in twenty twenty,
- 16:35Speaker 1: which if you become an Eagle Scout in the Year
- 16:38Speaker 1: of our Lord twenty twenty year the best among us. Right,
- 16:40Speaker 1: if you were able to get that done. They all
- 16:43Speaker 1: devoted their lives to their country, and please lift up
- 16:47Speaker 1: their families because they're in very real pain right now
- 16:49Speaker 1: as this moves forward.
- 16:51Speaker 2: There's absolutely a cost, and these people paided for all
- 16:55Speaker 2: of us. Okay, we're going to take a short break
- 16:58Speaker 2: and be right back with some primary news. There was
- 17:01Speaker 2: a primary last night and we're going to talk about it.
- 17:07Speaker 2: We are back on normally where a number of primaries
- 17:10Speaker 2: happened last night, with the biggest one being the US
- 17:14Speaker 2: Senate race primary Democratic primary in Texas, where James tell
- 17:19Speaker 2: Rico won the Democratic nomination over Representative Jasmine Crockett. She
- 17:24Speaker 2: had entered the race with so much fanfare that I
- 17:27Speaker 2: believe he almost dropped out, And it was funny that
- 17:31Speaker 2: that was the case, because she ended up losing by
- 17:35Speaker 2: quite a bit. It wasn't particularly close, and James tell
- 17:38Speaker 2: Erco wanted outright. Meanwhile, on the Republican side in Texas,
- 17:41Speaker 2: Senator John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton are heading
- 17:45Speaker 2: to a runoff since neither got a majority in that race.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that Jasmine Crockett didn't run a campaign.
- 17:54Speaker 1: She ran an identity and her Instagram account. Yeah, that's
- 17:58Speaker 1: what she ran. And her idea and some of the
- 18:02Speaker 1: activists who supported her was that we were just going
- 18:04Speaker 1: to do twenty twenty again, which is scream at you
- 18:07Speaker 1: about how you must support a black woman and if
- 18:09Speaker 1: you do not, then you are a racist. And I
- 18:12Speaker 1: have to say, even though she would be a more
- 18:14Speaker 1: vulnerable general election candidate for Republicans that I am appreciative
- 18:19Speaker 1: that this tactic did not work because they saw some
- 18:23Speaker 1: I think unfair and nasty stuff at Tall Rico. And
- 18:26Speaker 1: although it's fun to watch Democrats pay the price of
- 18:28Speaker 1: their own resks from twenty to twenty, I'm glad it
- 18:32Speaker 1: didn't work for her because I don't think we want
- 18:34Speaker 1: to be encouraging the types of candidates who are just
- 18:38Speaker 1: identity first vibes. Only she didn't have a campaign manager,
- 18:42Speaker 1: she didn't run ads, And I know we're in a
- 18:45Speaker 1: new era, but like you come, I have, you have
- 18:49Speaker 1: to have a campaign, not just yell at people. And then,
- 18:52Speaker 1: of course, as she loses, she blames Republicans for her loss,
- 18:58Speaker 1: which doesn't make any sense because Republican goaded her into
- 19:01Speaker 1: a running because we thought she'd be easier to be
- 19:04Speaker 1: and b to the extent we were meddling, it was
- 19:06Speaker 1: to vote for her, not against her, or suppress her
- 19:10Speaker 1: vote at all.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, now, there are two kinds of people.
- 19:13Speaker 2: There are the kinds of people that would love to
- 19:15Speaker 2: see a Jasmine Crocket win because she'll be a potentially
- 19:18Speaker 2: an easier person to be in the general. And I
- 19:20Speaker 2: think you and I are the opposite, where we want
- 19:23Speaker 2: the more serious candidate to win just in case, just
- 19:27Speaker 2: in case they pull off an upset, just in case.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I mean, I think tell A Rico is also fairly
- 19:32Speaker 2: far left to be real, but he's not Jasmine Crockett left.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So that's like he puts in some work, right, I
- 19:39Speaker 1: don't buy it.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I don't buy the youth pastor in the back of
- 19:42Speaker 2: a pickup game. Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I don't like how he just massages his Christianity and
- 19:48Speaker 1: it satisfies any of his progressive views that need to
- 19:51Speaker 1: be satisfied, because I don't think that's a correct way
- 19:54Speaker 1: of doing that. I think the speech she gave that
- 19:56Speaker 1: includes the sentence, God is nine non binary, is really
- 19:59Speaker 1: going to I'm back to bite him in a general election?
- 20:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, But this is a bit of a tough scenario
- 20:06Speaker 1: for Republicans for sure, because Ken Paxton has a lot
- 20:09Speaker 1: of baggage. He is the anti establishment candidate. He will
- 20:13Speaker 1: be going up in twelve weeks against Cornan, the four
- 20:16Speaker 1: time incumbent senator, and Trump did not endorse in the
- 20:21Speaker 1: three way primary to start this. Will he endorse for
- 20:25Speaker 1: the runoff, which would make it easier for Republicans because
- 20:29Speaker 1: then your runoff wouldn't cost so much money, and these
- 20:31Speaker 1: two people wouldn't beat the ever loving crap out of
- 20:33Speaker 1: each other until they go up against teller each It's
- 20:36Speaker 1: going to cost a lot of money. It's already cost
- 20:38Speaker 1: sixty million plus to get corn where he is.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be a question. Do you think
- 20:45Speaker 2: Trump would endorse Cornyn? I mean that's the I think
- 20:48Speaker 2: some are urging that what the president of the party
- 20:51Speaker 2: would normally do, but Paxton is more trumpy. It's really
- 20:55Speaker 2: it's kind of a tough question.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yes, it is a tough question. I think some are
- 20:59Speaker 1: urging him to endorse Cornyn. I think many in the
- 21:02Speaker 1: base would be upset, but the base doesn't say it
- 21:05Speaker 1: stay upset with Trump for very long?
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's right?
- 21:07Speaker 1: And where do those Wesley Hunt was also in this primary,
- 21:11Speaker 1: who I really like. I might have ended up a
- 21:13Speaker 1: Wesley Hunt voter if I were there. Where do his
- 21:15Speaker 1: voters go? I think there's a couple hundred thousand of
- 21:17Speaker 1: them and we will see what he ends up doing
- 21:20Speaker 1: as well. But this has the potential to suck up
- 21:24Speaker 1: a lot of money and be a lot closer than
- 21:26Speaker 1: Republicans want to be.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah. The other notable race from last night, Dan Crenshaw
- 21:31Speaker 2: lost his primary. He was the GOP incumbent representative also
- 21:36Speaker 2: in Texas to state Rep. Steve Toth. It was an upset,
- 21:40Speaker 2: and I don't think I didn't realize that was a possibility.
- 21:43Speaker 2: There's very few polls in these races, so I think
- 21:46Speaker 2: it was a surprise to a lot of think it was.
- 21:49Speaker 2: I believe Trump did not endorse in that race either. Again,
- 21:52Speaker 2: it does the Trump endorsement matter in primaries? I say, yes,
- 21:56Speaker 2: it still does.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Yeah, And Crenshaw had been openly more Trump critical and
- 22:00Speaker 1: the base decided that they wanted someone else in that slot. Yes,
- 22:04Speaker 1: this is a surprise and I think whereas I was
- 22:09Speaker 1: on the lookout for the Left getting itself in trouble
- 22:12Speaker 1: with more base satisfying candidates than general election satisfying candidates,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I think the Republican Party is also in some danger
- 22:21Speaker 1: of doing that. That doesn't mean that these guys can't
- 22:23Speaker 1: pan out in the h Yeah, but you may build
- 22:27Speaker 1: a harder road for yourself, that's right.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we do this sometimes, build that harder road for ourselves. Yeah. Look,
- 22:35Speaker 2: in my life, I have always voted for the most
- 22:37Speaker 2: conservative candidate in the race. That's not what this is
- 22:40Speaker 2: all the time. It's not always the most conservative candidate.
- 22:43Speaker 2: It's sometimes the most bombastic or the most angry, or
- 22:46Speaker 2: that kind of thing that doesn't play quite as well
- 22:49Speaker 2: in a general And I think we need to be
- 22:51Speaker 2: careful of that. And I say this to you because
- 22:54Speaker 2: I know you agree with me. But the rest of
- 22:55Speaker 2: the party, I don't know do they agree with us
- 22:57Speaker 2: on this. I think they kind of like the bombastic.
- 23:00Speaker 1: No. I mean, electability is not a sexy argument.
- 23:03Speaker 2: It's really not. Yeah, I don't care. Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's also worth noting there was a really high turnout
- 23:10Speaker 1: for Talla Rico in Latino majority counties. That in many
- 23:15Speaker 1: cases Republicans would of course like to stick around as
- 23:19Speaker 1: Republican voters. In this primary, you could go either way.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You can vote Republican or Democrats. So maybe they just
- 23:24Speaker 1: found the Democratic primary more interesting, a little more spice.
- 23:26Speaker 1: You wanted to vote for Talla Rico, which is what
- 23:29Speaker 1: a lot of those counties did at about sixty percent,
- 23:32Speaker 1: and heavily Latino counties. But it should be of interest
- 23:35Speaker 1: and perhaps concern to Republicans that a lot of these
- 23:39Speaker 1: counties that they hoped would stay Republican are looking like
- 23:42Speaker 1: they're enthusiastically coming out for a Democratic primary. Yeah, we'll
- 23:46Speaker 1: see sign something for the fall.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Texas is you know, I say this Texas is the
- 23:52Speaker 2: whale for Democrats, but you know Virginia used to be
- 23:56Speaker 2: the whale for Democrats. That used to be the state
- 23:58Speaker 2: that I was like, that's never blue. Yeah, so it's
- 24:02Speaker 2: always got to be careful and I never say ever.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Well, there will be a ton of runoffs and we
- 24:07Speaker 1: will keep you posted on those. But also in North Carolina,
- 24:11Speaker 1: a big one expected results. Roy Cooper, who is the
- 24:14Speaker 1: former governor of North Carolina, will be the Senate candidate
- 24:17Speaker 1: for the Democrats and Michael Watley, former R and C chair,
- 24:19Speaker 1: the candidate for Republicans. Watley is not super well known
- 24:23Speaker 1: in the state despite having been the rn C chair.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Cooper is popular, even though he shouldn't be because he
- 24:29Speaker 1: was terrible during COVID and then terrible during Hurricane Helene. Nonetheless,
- 24:35Speaker 1: he is a person who has gotten a lot of passes.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So we'll see what happens there. That is for Tom
- 24:40Speaker 1: Tillis's seat.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Meanwhile, tom Beach County in Florida is on the
- 24:45Speaker 2: verge of going red in terms of voter registration. This
- 24:49Speaker 2: is crazy because pom Beach County was traditionally a Blue
- 24:52Speaker 2: county in Florida. Very few Blue counties left in Florida,
- 24:56Speaker 2: Mary Catherine, So you know you have your pick of
- 24:59Speaker 2: county should you choose to make the move.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to be a Panhandle gal. Yes
- 25:07Speaker 1: to Florida.
- 25:07Speaker 2: There, I've never been to the Panhandle. Can we go together?
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm going to be stuck in what really is just
- 25:13Speaker 1: South Georgia and South Alabama.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I love it. Let's go, let's go visit family trips.
- 25:19Speaker 1: You know it's gorgeous. It's gorgeous with the you got
- 25:21Speaker 1: the moss off the old oak trees is gorgeous.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Yeah. So Ron DeSantis retweeted that Palm Beach County's Democrat
- 25:29Speaker 2: advantage collapsed from one hundred and thirty eight thousand to
- 25:34Speaker 2: a little over twelve thousand, and it could tell by
- 25:37Speaker 2: the boat by mail numbers that a lot of those
- 25:40Speaker 2: Blue voters are snowbirds. There was a way to get
- 25:43Speaker 2: snowbirds to not be eligible to vote in Florida. I
- 25:46Speaker 2: would certainly be for that.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Can I point out just on the voter turnout and
- 25:52Speaker 1: flipping states and what have you. Scott Presler, who of
- 25:55Speaker 1: course has done very energetic on the groundwork in Pennsylvania,
- 25:59Speaker 1: New Jersey over the place, he just tweeted this the
- 26:01Speaker 1: other day, and I just want to acknowledge growth in
- 26:04Speaker 1: this position, in this mission for him, because this is
- 26:07Speaker 1: good stuff. We've identified sixteen hundred and fifteen Farsie speaking
- 26:10Speaker 1: voters in Pennsylvania. Out of those, nine hundred and twenty
- 26:13Speaker 1: are registered Democrats. Early Vote Action will have peer to
- 26:16Speaker 1: peer text messages shortly for you to communicate a beautiful
- 26:19Speaker 1: Persian specific message to them. The Republican Party has their
- 26:22Speaker 1: backs like that is not even anything on the table
- 26:27Speaker 1: it is they going to do it going straight to
- 26:29Speaker 1: those people and saying, hi, guests, who just killed Kamani? Right, Look,
- 26:34Speaker 1: it is a very compelling argument. By the way, have
- 26:37Speaker 1: you seen that there's these a viral sound of a
- 26:40Speaker 1: DJ having come Yeah, oh yeah, yeah is dead? Yeah
- 26:45Speaker 1: so good. Yeah, this is the new world.
- 26:48Speaker 2: It really is. To talk about the twenty twenty eight
- 26:54Speaker 2: primary for a second. Gavin Newsome was at a book
- 26:58Speaker 2: event in Los Angeles and he said some things about
- 27:02Speaker 2: Israel that I think are being portrayed a little bit
- 27:05Speaker 2: harsher than I actually heard them, and I listen, I
- 27:08Speaker 2: don't give Newsom any credit at all, but yah Surelie tweeted.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Newsom said that those who say Israel's at a part I
- 27:14Speaker 2: had stayed are doing so quote appropriately. Newsom said Israel
- 27:17Speaker 2: has been unable to resolve the Hamas issue over the
- 27:20Speaker 2: past couple of years, so how could it possibly get
- 27:21Speaker 2: into the regime change business in Iran. He also alluded
- 27:24Speaker 2: to concerns about Israeli influence on US government decisions. I
- 27:28Speaker 2: hear that, but listening to that clip, it was a
- 27:32Speaker 2: very lefty I just don't like the net and Yahoo
- 27:36Speaker 2: administration kind of clip. I didn't hear anything super new there.
- 27:42Speaker 2: But I still think that it's going to be interesting
- 27:45Speaker 2: to see if the Democrats are really going to be
- 27:49Speaker 2: turning on our main very capable ally in order to
- 27:54Speaker 2: run in their primary. And this could easily be the
- 27:57Speaker 2: beginning of that, you know, being the case where they're
- 28:00Speaker 2: all going to raise their hands and say they oppose
- 28:04Speaker 2: any future alliance with Israel because it's not about the support, right.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I know a lot of people talk about how much
- 28:10Speaker 2: money we give Israel for its defense. All of that
- 28:13Speaker 2: money is spent on American defense systems. No president wants
- 28:18Speaker 2: to cut that is the is the reality of it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Israel could easily go it alone. The US does not
- 28:23Speaker 2: want them to. And when Newsom says, you know, Israel
- 28:25Speaker 2: has been unable to take out Hamas mostly because we've
- 28:30Speaker 2: tied their hands and the world has tied their hands,
- 28:32Speaker 2: they could absolutely take out Hamas if they did not they.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Out, he's also sort of ignoring the idea that, like
- 28:41Speaker 1: Hamas is living next to the governor's mansion, if we
- 28:44Speaker 1: were to do the analogous situation. So taking out this
- 28:48Speaker 1: this enemy while your hands are being tied is a
- 28:52Speaker 1: very very tough logistical ask when it's right on your
- 28:56Speaker 1: border attacking you daily, that's right, it's really tough to
- 29:00Speaker 1: I think I do appreciate so much having been to Israel,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and I think others should try to visit, because once
- 29:06Speaker 1: you see how close everything is together, you get a
- 29:08Speaker 1: new appreciation for why, right, why the defenses need to
- 29:12Speaker 1: be what they are.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, when they were like, well, you're going to the
- 29:15Speaker 2: north today, Okay, two hours later we're in the north.
- 29:17Speaker 2: You're going to the south today. Two hours later you're
- 29:19Speaker 2: in the south.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Like yeah, yeah, But I do think I think you're
- 29:23Speaker 1: right that, you know, using this kind of language like
- 29:26Speaker 1: aparth that is going to become Normaldard, which, by the way,
- 29:30Speaker 1: if you ever have been to Israel or talk to
- 29:32Speaker 1: anyone who's from there, it's not it's not at all.
- 29:36Speaker 1: So it's just untrue. So saying untrue things about Israel
- 29:40Speaker 1: is probably going to be the part for the course
- 29:42Speaker 1: moving through the twenty twenty eight primary.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Yeah, unfortunate, and I hope the Republicans don't succumb to
- 29:49Speaker 2: the same thing. I think the numbers still are overwhelmingly
- 29:53Speaker 2: pro Israel no matter what the Tuckers of the world want.
- 29:56Speaker 2: But we'll see, we'll see what jd Vance is saying
- 29:59Speaker 2: closer to that time.
- 30:01Speaker 1: A quick note that actually fits with twenty twenty eight
- 30:04Speaker 1: as well is the up and coming governor Abigail Spamberger
- 30:07Speaker 1: of Virginia, whose Democratic run state legislator has been proposing
- 30:14Speaker 1: all sorts of insane things. She had a chance to
- 30:17Speaker 1: moderate last week. She had a chance to moderate because
- 30:21Speaker 1: a forty one year old woman, Stephanie Mentor, was murdered
- 30:24Speaker 1: at a bus stop in northern Virginia. And she was
- 30:27Speaker 1: murdered by an illegal alien who's been in the US
- 30:30Speaker 1: for fifteen years, and during that his time in Northern
- 30:33Speaker 1: Virginia has been arrested on thirty offenses, many of them violent,
- 30:38Speaker 1: including malicious wounding and forcible rape. And he has been
- 30:43Speaker 1: let go or not charged or on the streets every
- 30:46Speaker 1: single time because there is a Soros funded prosecutor in
- 30:50Speaker 1: Fairfax County who doesn't like to prosecute named Steve Discano.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And after this murder, Abigail Spamberger was asked, as the governor,
- 30:58Speaker 1: would you honor an ice detainer for this man? And
- 31:01Speaker 1: she said, no, go get a warrant. Oh, he has
- 31:05Speaker 1: to commit another crime. I guess in order for them
- 31:10Speaker 1: to come pick up this is just a no brainer.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And there was a Biden former staffer who was like,
- 31:16Speaker 1: this is not passing the test for a modern democrat, Like,
- 31:19Speaker 1: you cannot signal that this is a hard decision for you.
- 31:22Speaker 1: You have to go pick this guy up.
- 31:24Speaker 2: And she's the quote unquote moderate.
- 31:27Speaker 1: She's the moderate.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think so.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Nope, she's mom Donny Wing. Guys. Yeah, doesn't matter how
- 31:33Speaker 1: her suit looks, how boring it is. She's mom Donny Wing.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Right, Ay, right, we'll be right back with more on normally.
- 31:47Speaker 1: All right, we are back on normally with some good
- 31:49Speaker 1: news out of the Supreme Court, where they gave some
- 31:53Speaker 1: relief to parents who objected to California school systems transitioning
- 31:59Speaker 1: so uly their children without notifying them. And they said, hey,
- 32:04Speaker 1: we feel like this violates our parents' rights and our
- 32:07Speaker 1: religious rights. And the Supreme Court was like, indeed, this
- 32:10Speaker 1: is Amy How writing at the Scotis Blog. The Supreme
- 32:14Speaker 1: Court on Monday granted a request from a group of
- 32:16Speaker 1: California parents to reinstate a ruling by a federal district
- 32:19Speaker 1: court that prohibits schools in that state from misleading parents
- 32:22Speaker 1: about their children's gender presentation, and that require schools to
- 32:26Speaker 1: follow parents' instructions regarding the names and pronouns that children
- 32:29Speaker 1: use there and a seven page order the majority explained
- 32:31Speaker 1: that the parents were likely to prevail on their claim
- 32:33Speaker 1: that California's policies violate the parents' rights to freely exercise
- 32:37Speaker 1: their religion and their right to quote direct the upbringing
- 32:40Speaker 1: and education of their children. Thank you very much.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I was told this never happens. This never happens.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Schools never transition kids behind their parents' backs. And yet
- 32:50Speaker 2: this is a case that reached all the way to
- 32:52Speaker 2: the Supreme Court saying yeah, it does happen. The underlying
- 32:57Speaker 2: case is going to continue through the lower courts, meaning
- 32:59Speaker 2: that this legal fight is actually not over yet because
- 33:02Speaker 2: the injunction is just preliminary. But still it's a big
- 33:06Speaker 2: move to say this is not acceptable, and I think
- 33:09Speaker 2: that that's what the Supreme Court should be should be
- 33:12Speaker 2: saying when people are doing things against the wishes of
- 33:16Speaker 2: the parents.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's discouraging, both in this case and the Maryland
- 33:22Speaker 1: Montgomery County School's one that you have to go all
- 33:24Speaker 1: the way to Supreme Court to get relief on your
- 33:29Speaker 1: totally common sensical parents' rights to raise your children as
- 33:34Speaker 1: you see fit. But this is where we are, and
- 33:36Speaker 1: this is how the progressive creek creep into everything and
- 33:41Speaker 1: then make things that were formerly just totally understood by
- 33:45Speaker 1: everyone as cultural norms. They're like, oh, no, that's not
- 33:48Speaker 1: real anymore because we're fighting a culture war and you
- 33:50Speaker 1: got here late. So go to the Supreme Court and
- 33:53Speaker 1: try to get your parents rights back.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I hope they win, and I hope that
- 33:58Speaker 2: sanity prevails. I feel like we're moving in the right
- 34:01Speaker 2: direction on this. I don't think that the Democrats are
- 34:04Speaker 2: going to be running on boys can be in girls'
- 34:07Speaker 2: locker rooms this time around, although we'll see, right who
- 34:09Speaker 2: knows what they're going to run on. The primary moves
- 34:13Speaker 2: them all further to the left before they try to
- 34:15Speaker 2: make a bolt for the center and the general. I
- 34:18Speaker 2: hope they get called on all the crazy things that
- 34:20Speaker 2: they believe, and you know, I have to actually state
- 34:23Speaker 2: what those insane things are.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Yeah, tell Rico is a signal. I think that they
- 34:28Speaker 1: are interested in moving to the center, to someone, or
- 34:31Speaker 1: at least extricating themselves from twenty twenty tactics and beliefs
- 34:34Speaker 1: to some degree. But also God is non binary, so
- 34:37Speaker 1: you know that's right both, He's got both things going on.
