- 1:07Speaker 5: I know, I know, we finally the dates worked out.
- 1:11Speaker 4: He was worried about wards.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Well, yeah, what am I going to look like?
- 1:16Speaker 3: I said, I said, sorry, We're just talking, that's it.
- 1:20Speaker 3: But tell like you meet me in front of my
- 1:21Speaker 3: house and we're hanging out on my stoop.
- 1:23Speaker 4: That's it.
- 1:23Speaker 5: I'd just like to prepare all the time and be ready. Well, welcome,
- 1:27Speaker 5: thank you.
- 1:28Speaker 4: So tell us how did this all start with you?
- 1:31Speaker 5: With the music, with the DJ, especially the music. Well,
- 1:35Speaker 5: I had an uncle of mine who used to be
- 1:36Speaker 5: a big DJ back in the day.
- 1:38Speaker 4: He used to how long back of the day.
- 1:41Speaker 5: I was ten years old and my uncle's name is
- 1:44Speaker 5: Julio Ferrara, and he used to DJ at a lot
- 1:48Speaker 5: of the spots in the city with jelly Bean, with
- 1:51Speaker 5: all the big DJs and stuff. Funhouse, yeah, funhouse, all
- 1:55Speaker 5: that stuff, yeah, a lot of nightclubs, a lot of events,
- 1:59Speaker 5: since stuff. He had equipment, so he gave me a
- 2:03Speaker 5: set of turntables and the rest was a history practice.
- 2:08Speaker 5: He liked the way I was doing it, and then
- 2:11Speaker 5: I took it to a different level, made it my
- 2:13Speaker 5: full time job and all that stuff production, radio, events, weddings, clubs, nightclubs, concerts,
- 2:22Speaker 5: all that stuff.
- 2:23Speaker 4: And the freestyle is big. Yeah, Al Riot. Yeah, people
- 2:27Speaker 4: that you love to Judy Tores.
- 2:29Speaker 6: Back in the day.
- 2:30Speaker 7: I mean, I'm having to go back to the to
- 2:32Speaker 7: the books of what my parents used to say to me, because.
- 2:34Speaker 5: How old are you.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I'm thirty one, okay.
- 2:37Speaker 7: But you know they, I mean they've always been their
- 2:40Speaker 7: huge music lovers. And my dad's in the music industry,
- 2:42Speaker 7: so like awesome plays music on the side.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Awesome, and he like they liked the freestyle, I'm sure.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Oh my god. Yeah, yeah, I didn't grow up in
- 2:48Speaker 6: New York, but I feel like it's it was very much.
- 2:51Speaker 6: Everyone knows about it.
- 2:52Speaker 5: It was a big New York Florida thing. Yeah, freestyle was.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Very big, and that was a fun fun day is
- 2:59Speaker 4: It's fun day.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Is right, exactly exactly?
- 3:01Speaker 4: You know the club scene and that's wine clubs.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Yeah. I did all the clubs in Long Island, all
- 3:05Speaker 5: the clubs in Ladies exactly, break View Yacht Club, everything,
- 3:11Speaker 5: Pash in the Garden City Hotel, all the spots Glow Mirage,
- 3:16Speaker 5: all the places alb even Ice and Farmingdale, a whole
- 3:23Speaker 5: bunch of different places and places in west Chester, actory Marny, Lenny's,
- 3:29Speaker 5: Top Rests, all the big nightclubs, there.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You know what, it's so funny that there's no the
- 3:36Speaker 3: nightlife is so much different now than it used to
- 3:38Speaker 3: be when we were, even when you were probably like
- 3:41Speaker 3: even ten years ago for when you guys, right, it's
- 3:43Speaker 3: just different. Now it's not the same. I think ever
- 3:46Speaker 3: since COVID, it's.
- 3:47Speaker 5: So changed everything. Everything changed. Restaurants, the hours. You know,
- 3:52Speaker 5: nobody wants to stay open late anymore. Clubs used to
- 3:55Speaker 5: stay open four in the morning.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Now four in the morning. We used to have after.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Hours exactly exactly.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I used to walk out in the day line.
- 4:03Speaker 5: Don't exist anymore, yeah, exactly exactly.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Night. Yes, the club was in the diner right at
- 4:09Speaker 4: the end of the night.
- 4:10Speaker 3: That was the best. That was the best part. That
- 4:12Speaker 3: was the disc right the fights would start. Who'll be
- 4:18Speaker 3: fighting with in the middle of the play in the diner.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But yeah, the clubs were so much different. I mean
- 4:24Speaker 3: I remember going out at midnight, one o'clock in the
- 4:27Speaker 3: morning and staying out until I I mean I worked there.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Yeah, now it's over at that time.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Everything now is more like a lounge, like a restaurant
- 4:35Speaker 5: and then turns into like some night life after Yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 5: so it's like the new.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Norm yeah, and I just I just yeah, but it's
- 4:44Speaker 3: just it's so much different. I wish these kids would
- 4:46Speaker 3: get that experience that they that we had.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Exactly, I don't know.
- 4:49Speaker 5: It was just it was a vibe. It was amazing,
- 4:52Speaker 5: it was fun.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yep, it was a lot of fun. Right, and you
- 4:55Speaker 3: grew up in the Bronx.
- 4:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm originally from the Bronx off the Revenue, which
- 5:00Speaker 5: as is from Joe Patch.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Kathy Mariarty exactly exactly.
- 5:06Speaker 3: She was just in my office last week. She's she's
- 5:09Speaker 3: a good friend. Her and Catherine dude, they're my good She.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Actually wants to events always.
- 5:15Speaker 4: She loves freestyle.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Yeah, she loves the free and all the free style,
- 5:19Speaker 5: loves that stuff.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Yeah, we got to come to the next one. Want
- 5:24Speaker 4: to go?
- 5:24Speaker 5: I was in Patricia's in Tottonville, uh, this past weekend.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I know it was I was supposed to go. I
- 5:31Speaker 4: was supposed to go.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Sabrina had tickets for me at the door from the
- 5:35Speaker 3: couple of girls.
- 5:36Speaker 4: And nobody wants. Everybody was like, I'm tired, I don't
- 5:40Speaker 4: want to go. I'm like, all right, I was. I
- 5:43Speaker 4: wanted to go. I was.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I was really just getting the car and go by myself.
- 5:46Speaker 3: But you know, it's like I guess because we're just
- 5:47Speaker 3: getting old.
- 5:48Speaker 4: It's really sad.
- 5:49Speaker 6: I'm getting up search.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Hang out with you, give you a microphone, you'll do
- 5:57Speaker 5: your thing.
- 5:58Speaker 6: You gotta do that. That'd be good?
- 5:59Speaker 4: Will that be good? I think so? Of course love it.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So that's what I'm doing next time if I have
- 6:05Speaker 3: nobody else to go with a problem and you always
- 6:07Speaker 3: work with the Bernudos too.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I did all the songs for Angelo Deiano, the
- 6:13Speaker 5: Sweet Caroline, all the big records and stuff. We also
- 6:17Speaker 5: had a record with him and Raina, another recording artist.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Rain the Sweetheart.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I just saw how I was just with her
- 6:23Speaker 3: and Protressor is a couple of weeks ago.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Great people, great people. One of my childhood friends, Sweetheart
- 6:30Speaker 5: from the Bronx too.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah, she's from the Bronx too. Right do you are you?
- 6:35Speaker 4: Are you married?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Yes?
- 6:37Speaker 4: Okay? How do you kids feel about you DJing? They
- 6:40Speaker 4: are they dj so?
- 6:41Speaker 5: My son yes? He actually it's his birthday today. He's
- 6:44Speaker 5: twenty two.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Happy birthdaythday, Happy birthday for Chessco.
- 6:48Speaker 5: He's doing a lot of productions. He went to Mercy College.
- 6:52Speaker 5: He took radio and uh, production for two years. Then
- 6:55Speaker 5: he took business. He's almost graduating another month month and
- 6:58Speaker 5: a half. Yeah, he's DJ and he has his own equipment,
- 7:03Speaker 5: he has his own studio, he does DJ lessons for
- 7:06Speaker 5: younger kids. He just did a big fundraiser for cancer
- 7:10Speaker 5: over the weekend and stuff. So we're always giving back.
- 7:14Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, a little bit.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that.
- 7:18Speaker 5: And I'm not pushing him. He's just on his own,
- 7:21Speaker 5: you know what I mean. Just sometimes you gotta let
- 7:23Speaker 5: them go on their own.
- 7:25Speaker 4: And did you guys, like, did you do like weddings
- 7:29Speaker 4: and stuff too?
- 7:30Speaker 5: Yeah, we work. We always work together.
- 7:32Speaker 4: You'll find that different too.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Now is different. Yeah, a lot of times the bigger
- 7:38Speaker 5: weddings scaled back a little bit, but people are still
- 7:42Speaker 5: getting married. They're doing events. Sometimes they'll do them in
- 7:44Speaker 5: their house. Sometimes they'll do them in the yard, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 5: and at the end of the day they wanted um
- 7:50Speaker 5: spending more money to do it like that, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 5: like you're tending, you're renting chairs and tables and lighting
- 7:58Speaker 5: and equipment and DJ and all that stuff. At the
- 8:01Speaker 5: end of the day, you spend them more than what
- 8:02Speaker 5: you would spend when you go to a fancy catering hall.
- 8:05Speaker 4: It's true. You go to a lot of weddings.
- 8:08Speaker 7: I do because all my friends they're in the phase now,
- 8:10Speaker 7: you know, it's like twenty five to thirty five. So
- 8:13Speaker 7: I'm seeing a lot of that. But I was going
- 8:14Speaker 7: to say it has changed in terms of people are
- 8:17Speaker 7: just they don't want to do the big thing anymore, exactly,
- 8:19Speaker 7: like you know what, let's just throw a little small
- 8:20Speaker 7: party and then you know, we'll do the private stuff
- 8:24Speaker 7: like the church with my close family and media family.
- 8:26Speaker 6: But yeah, so I'm seeing a little bit of less.
- 8:28Speaker 5: A lot of people are doing destination weddings too. We
- 8:30Speaker 5: do a lot. We do a lot in Italy and
- 8:33Speaker 5: a mole fee we do it in Sicily. Two weddings
- 8:37Speaker 5: this year coming up. Last year we did two also, Yeah, gorgeous, beautiful.
- 8:41Speaker 5: They rent that like a castle, like a villa. Phenomenal.
- 8:46Speaker 5: Then they have like fireworks at the end, real fireworks.
- 8:50Speaker 5: It's phenomenal. It's unbelievable what they get.
- 8:54Speaker 7: Yeah, they did the huge fireworks and everything, and it
- 8:56Speaker 7: was overlooking the city. It's one of the big venues.
- 8:58Speaker 7: I can't remember what it's called, but you probably would
- 9:00Speaker 7: recognize the name. But yeah, stunning, Like if I could
- 9:04Speaker 7: do that, then I'll get very five times, yeah exactly.
- 9:09Speaker 3: But they don't have It's not but it's not like
- 9:11Speaker 3: the way we would have a wedding in the United States.
- 9:14Speaker 4: And it's different because it's funny.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Well you know, I always noticed that from all the cultures,
- 9:19Speaker 3: especially the Italians, we always do it, go crazy, but even.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Like the Greek, go big, go big too. Now you know, Spanish,
- 9:30Speaker 5: same thing.
- 9:31Speaker 3: But it's funny because real rich people don't do that,
- 9:35Speaker 3: and they don't. They don't My cousin. My cousins came
- 9:43Speaker 3: from like Johanna's point, and you know, and they came
- 9:48Speaker 3: to see one of our weddings, and their weddings are
- 9:50Speaker 3: like a clam bake outside sun dresses on their property.
- 9:54Speaker 3: When they came to New York to a real New
- 9:57Speaker 3: York wedding, they could not believe. Like what we did
- 10:00Speaker 3: for these we go what we did for even the
- 10:03Speaker 3: sweet sixteens, what we used to do.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Sixteens are the second biggest events we do that we
- 10:08Speaker 5: did one this weekend was two twins.
- 10:10Speaker 3: They spent more than adding and I feel like those
- 10:12Speaker 3: still those are still big. Yeah right, yeah, sixties how
- 10:16Speaker 3: many Sweet sixties you used to go to when you
- 10:17Speaker 3: were in high school?
- 10:18Speaker 7: Being half Mexican, it was n and then it was
- 10:22Speaker 7: fifteen and sixteen.
- 10:24Speaker 6: Yeah, those are real big.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, they go real big with that too. They have
- 10:28Speaker 5: like a court, like a bridal party dresses, choreograph dances
- 10:33Speaker 5: and that.
- 10:34Speaker 4: Sweet fifteen right.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Yeah, the girls court and the guy court.
- 10:38Speaker 5: I love that because it's a it's a special symbol
- 10:40Speaker 5: to them. It's like showing that the girl. Yeah, it
- 10:44Speaker 5: goes from a young lady to to a woman, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 5: so it's kind of like cool puts on the shoe.
- 10:51Speaker 6: It's like a whole it's a little mini wedding.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I love that.
- 10:57Speaker 3: My daughter, my daughter her friends to they would she
- 11:00Speaker 3: would go to the Sweet fifteen's and the Sweet sixteens
- 11:03Speaker 3: and when they were in high school, but she would
- 11:06Speaker 3: go to like she went to like at least I'm
- 11:09Speaker 3: not even joking. One year they went to fifteen fifteen parties, yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 3: or sixteen of them.
- 11:15Speaker 4: It was crazy. Every month. Every month there was like
- 11:18Speaker 4: one or two.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Everyone tries to do.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Everyone's crazy.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I go, she goes, Mom, what am I giving it
- 11:23Speaker 3: a car? I go, First of all, I wonder what
- 11:24Speaker 3: they're giving it in your car, like.
- 11:28Speaker 4: The party, the food lose exactly, I'm taking out ten.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Twenty, taking out one hundred, like but yeah, because how
- 11:38Speaker 3: are you supposed to give you a kid this.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Kind of money to go Sixteen hundred dollars used to
- 11:43Speaker 4: go to one party.
- 11:44Speaker 5: In the restaurant. The plates used to be seventy eighty
- 11:46Speaker 5: dollars ahead. Now it's like two hundred fifty.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Who's given? You're gonna give two hundred dollars what you lose?
- 11:52Speaker 5: If you're going to do a party, you got to
- 11:54Speaker 5: understand that.
- 11:55Speaker 4: You know, you're not making money to the party.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Exactly, that's not a few Oh we're going to open
- 12:00Speaker 5: the boost and we made all the money back those.
- 12:03Speaker 4: It's not like a good friend the envelope. Don't worry
- 12:05Speaker 4: about it.
- 12:07Speaker 5: No.
- 12:08Speaker 3: No, First of all, people can't afford that, you know
- 12:11Speaker 3: you can't. So a couple's not going to come and
- 12:14Speaker 3: give it six hundred dollars to a wedding.
- 12:16Speaker 5: They're just going to put two thousand in an envelope.
- 12:20Speaker 4: That's your family member, then you would then I could
- 12:23Speaker 4: see you doing that. But if it's somebody you know,
- 12:26Speaker 4: you know that I'm not. I can't do that.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I mean, I go into and it's funny that we
- 12:31Speaker 3: talked about a friend's wedding. A friend's wedding a couple
- 12:34Speaker 3: of weeks ago, and their wedding was there was no
- 12:37Speaker 3: sit down dinner.
- 12:38Speaker 2: It was.
- 12:39Speaker 4: It was just a a cocktail hour.
- 12:41Speaker 6: I know, people were whispering to each other like, oh,
- 12:43Speaker 6: no sit down dinner.
- 12:49Speaker 4: The wedding.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I mean, I'm telling you it was probably a small
- 12:52Speaker 3: fortune for the wedding where it was, but they didn't
- 12:56Speaker 3: want to sit down dinner. They wanted to have it
- 12:58Speaker 3: just like a club and have it was like a
- 13:00Speaker 3: five hour cocktail hour.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah, But the only thing I didn't like about
- 13:04Speaker 4: it is well, there was no place. It wasn't like
- 13:06Speaker 4: the real place. It was like, there was some tables,
- 13:09Speaker 4: there was some place like a couch like you exactly,
- 13:14Speaker 4: I'm up with ship all on my gown and I'm trying.
- 13:17Speaker 6: It's not necessarily yeah, but.
- 13:21Speaker 4: I I have a feeling that the that the parents
- 13:25Speaker 4: probably wanted to sit down, but they didn't. They're young.
- 13:27Speaker 4: They wanted it. It was fun. It was great.
- 13:29Speaker 5: But yeah, in the days of like the parents picking
- 13:32Speaker 5: what the kids want is over with also because you know,
- 13:36Speaker 5: you want to stay classy, you want to do this,
- 13:38Speaker 5: and they're like, NAM, don't worry, we're gonna do this.
- 13:40Speaker 5: We're gonna do that. We're gonna have just the DJ,
- 13:42Speaker 5: we're gonna do some music and they're gonna pass around.
- 13:44Speaker 4: And we're just gonna have water.
- 13:47Speaker 5: Starving, you know, we think, like, what are you crazy?
- 13:50Speaker 5: You can't leave like that. You can't have no food.
- 13:52Speaker 5: You can't food that's with you.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I mean there was a ton of food. It was
- 13:57Speaker 4: just but it was just different. It wasn't like a
- 13:59Speaker 4: sit down dinner. I mean, I liked it, I kind of.
- 14:03Speaker 4: It was fun.
- 14:04Speaker 3: We had a great time, but it was it was different.
- 14:07Speaker 3: It was like something that we were it was used
- 14:10Speaker 3: to so but it is.
- 14:11Speaker 4: It is. That's it. Do you find it that people
- 14:13Speaker 4: are booking less for weddings sooner?
- 14:15Speaker 5: They're doing that way a lot more than the big
- 14:18Speaker 5: big catering halls and stuff. Everybody wants to reinvent the wheel,
- 14:22Speaker 5: but the classic way is always the best, I feel.
- 14:25Speaker 5: You know, when you do a nice venue, nice church,
- 14:28Speaker 5: you know a.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Lot of pushing for that, it's not paying for it.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Probably they're getting married at the catering hall also now,
- 14:39Speaker 5: so it's like they're not even going to the church
- 14:41Speaker 5: and stuff, and it's a lot easier, don't get me wrong,
- 14:44Speaker 5: because they'll get married at the catering hall, then they'll
- 14:47Speaker 5: go to the cocktail and then the party. Back in
- 14:51Speaker 5: the day when I got married, you have to go
- 14:53Speaker 5: to the church. Then you'd have three hours in between.
- 14:56Speaker 5: You have to bring relatives from Italy, from Chicago, from
- 15:00Speaker 5: where over. They're from Montreal. We're gonna put them three
- 15:03Speaker 5: hours before the catering hall. The catering hall don't allow
- 15:07Speaker 5: you to come in till an hour before. You have
- 15:09Speaker 5: no you know, no clue.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Now, it's everything just about convenience exactly.
- 15:14Speaker 5: It's all convenience.
- 15:14Speaker 4: That's what.
- 15:17Speaker 3: What do you feel like is gonna be like the
- 15:19Speaker 3: new trends this like now with with djaying, like, do
- 15:23Speaker 3: you feel like it's just going to still be?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Like?
- 15:26Speaker 4: Is it going to still be?
- 15:27Speaker 5: I don't think they could ever take away the DJing
- 15:31Speaker 5: aspect of it because the DJing aspect of it is
- 15:34Speaker 5: more of a creative. You got to be able to
- 15:37Speaker 5: curate and play the music and mix in what they want,
- 15:41Speaker 5: you know, what works for the crowd and all that stuff.
- 15:43Speaker 5: A lot of people sometimes oh AI's taken over and this,
- 15:47Speaker 5: but you can't. You know, you need someone there. You
- 15:50Speaker 5: physically need someone there to mix the music, to read
- 15:53Speaker 5: the crowd, to see what is going on, and stuff
- 15:57Speaker 5: like that. And you need a professional when it comes
- 15:59Speaker 5: to stuff like that because some people like, oh yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 5: I'm just gonna put on my phone and play my
- 16:04Speaker 5: playlist like that, you.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Need a hype man.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 16:09Speaker 6: I was gonna say you're from Ai actually exactly. Don't
- 16:13Speaker 6: be worried. If what can you go into that?
- 16:15Speaker 7: A I can replace you a host the DJ, because
- 16:19Speaker 7: you really do curate the event and you kind of
- 16:20Speaker 7: make it.
- 16:21Speaker 6: You read the people's exactly.
- 16:23Speaker 5: That's good for you and it's everything you know what
- 16:25Speaker 5: it is. Also, we don't have like a set playlist
- 16:29Speaker 5: for every party. Everyone's different. You may like some stuff,
- 16:32Speaker 5: she may like some stuff. Someone else says, I hate that,
- 16:36Speaker 5: I want this. So everything is customed to the person,
- 16:40Speaker 5: to the people, to the event.
- 16:42Speaker 7: Can you recall a crazy request you got from a
- 16:45Speaker 7: from a couple or a family event.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Well, let me see a lot of times they say
- 16:54Speaker 5: to us, nobody gets the microphone. My uncle Jack comes
- 16:57Speaker 5: up every party. Do not let him get all the microphone.
- 17:02Speaker 5: I got it like the bad guy. I'd be like, no,
- 17:04Speaker 5: I'm sorry, we don't have a wireless microphone. What do
- 17:08Speaker 5: you mean, your DJ, you don't have a microphone?
- 17:11Speaker 4: Did you ever? Did they ever make somebody saying that?
- 17:14Speaker 4: You were like, oh my god, why this person say
- 17:16Speaker 4: for like a half an hour unless.
- 17:18Speaker 5: It's approved, bride or anybody, nobody gets the mic. Nobody does, yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 5: because someone could ruin the mic. You get someone that'll
- 17:26Speaker 5: start roasting someone and says, you know, you saw that
- 17:29Speaker 5: on the internet. One day, some lady made a speech
- 17:32Speaker 5: she used to go out with the groom before she
- 17:34Speaker 5: got married.
- 17:35Speaker 6: I thought that was fake.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Then they had to escort her out. It was like crazy.
- 17:42Speaker 7: You know, I never know what's real or fake now
- 17:44Speaker 7: on the internet. But but I just could not see story.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, I'm like, could you imagine?
- 17:50Speaker 4: Imagine that it was fake too?
- 17:53Speaker 3: But what about the people who got caught because they
- 17:55Speaker 3: were on the big screen and the jump tro Oh yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 6: Concert.
- 18:03Speaker 3: First of all, you can't cheat this day and age,
- 18:05Speaker 3: because you get caught. Everything's everything the eyes of the sky.
- 18:09Speaker 3: But imagine getting caught on the Jumbo TRN. Yeah exactly,
- 18:14Speaker 3: but they deserved it. I'm sorry, listen, you want this
- 18:18Speaker 3: is okay exactly, you know what, be honest, you don't
- 18:21Speaker 3: want to be in a relationship no more. Be like, okay,
- 18:23Speaker 3: I'm out, gotta go, you know, you know, just.
- 18:28Speaker 5: The truth will always set you free, always set I mean,
- 18:32Speaker 5: like the truth always prevails. Right, Mom's always right?
- 18:36Speaker 4: Are always making a lawyer?
- 18:38Speaker 5: Exactly exactly.
- 18:40Speaker 7: Saddle up quick, and I hope you signed the prenup
- 18:44Speaker 7: because I don't know what those two were into.
- 18:46Speaker 3: But yeah, crazy right, what is So? What do you
- 18:51Speaker 3: be doing now for the rest of the year, which
- 18:52Speaker 3: a bunch of.
- 18:54Speaker 5: A bunch of concerts coming up. I have one at
- 18:56Speaker 5: I ownA that I'm doing April seventy with t k A,
- 19:00Speaker 5: Judy Torres c Bank, a whole bunch of the cover
- 19:03Speaker 5: girls also there. Yeah, I'm hosting the event along with
- 19:10Speaker 5: the school. They're raising money for the school and stuff. Also,
- 19:13Speaker 5: I do tiki in Rye. It's an outdoor place, beautiful,
- 19:18Speaker 5: like it's like kind of like you feel like you're
- 19:21Speaker 5: on vacation there, but it's only for like the three
- 19:23Speaker 5: four months of the summer. So we do nice, big events.
- 19:26Speaker 5: We do big bands, DJs, everything, Yeah, exactly, and we
- 19:31Speaker 5: have Judy tours t K to perform there probably.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Right, his wife. Great people, great people, love them so much,
- 19:40Speaker 4: good people.
- 19:41Speaker 5: I grew up with them.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Yeah, the great, the great. They're a great bunch of people.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 19:45Speaker 4: I love that.
- 19:46Speaker 5: My favorite groups. They're how can I put it, They're
- 19:50Speaker 5: like the the el exactly Kings of freestyle. They get
- 19:56Speaker 5: mad when I say that, but it's the true.
- 19:59Speaker 4: So it also probably makes them feel old when you
- 20:02Speaker 4: say exactly.
- 20:03Speaker 5: But they are they are, and they still they still
- 20:07Speaker 5: get into it.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Amazing, unbelievable. They still could do it.
- 20:11Speaker 5: When we do the me Tiki outside it's a free
- 20:14Speaker 5: concert and we do about three thousand people once a year.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I cannot believe how they they literally for their whole set,
- 20:21Speaker 3: they are just stop not not just like break dancing
- 20:27Speaker 3: and doing ship.
- 20:29Speaker 4: And singing and all that stuff, the whole set that
- 20:32Speaker 4: they do. It's amazing. But they're all like that. They're
- 20:35Speaker 4: all Judy, Judy. We just did a fashion show with
- 20:39Speaker 4: Judy two weeks. I love Judy. Did you know about
- 20:42Speaker 4: I knew that the new book.
- 20:44Speaker 5: That they have, they're doing like a book and stuff
- 20:46Speaker 5: that I know they did, like like a theater play. Yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 5: I saw that. I saw that, which is cool. It's
- 20:52Speaker 5: about freestyle.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I believe in all that people's experience is a freestyle.
- 20:56Speaker 6: And stuff like that.
- 20:57Speaker 5: It was a big staple in all life, you know
- 21:00Speaker 5: what I mean. It was like the music.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Every song brought me back to a different time of
- 21:04Speaker 3: my life. Million if you played there's no reason to
- 21:07Speaker 3: crib to Dreuli chars, Oh my god, that's what my
- 21:09Speaker 3: boyfriend broke up with me. Exactly if I hear Scars
- 21:13Speaker 3: of Love, oh my god, you never that we were
- 21:15Speaker 3: the backseat of.
- 21:16Speaker 5: The car and so and so the revenue feast when
- 21:19Speaker 5: eighty seven three people break dancing me playing the song
- 21:23Speaker 5: so much fun.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Now, I have to say we had a great childhood
- 21:27Speaker 4: were we were the best music. The best time we
- 21:30Speaker 4: really did we really did it was it was now.
- 21:33Speaker 5: All this new music has like no shelf, no shelf
- 21:37Speaker 5: life either. It'll be in for a month, two months,
- 21:39Speaker 5: and you'll never hear of it again. They'll never become
- 21:42Speaker 5: classics where you could say, hey, ten years from now,
- 21:46Speaker 5: we're going to play this record, be like what the
- 21:47Speaker 5: hell is?
- 21:48Speaker 4: Yeah, it's so true.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I have nothing comes to classic anymore.
- 21:52Speaker 3: That's why everybody likes our music million right, the eighties
- 21:55Speaker 3: music was the best.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Like our generation.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Music is always timeless, always it's so it's so good.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I mean, you know what, there's no poets anymore, exactly
- 22:04Speaker 3: the problem there's no poets.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Well, yeah, there's a lot of even even the record
- 22:09Speaker 5: labels cut down. They don't give you a budget to
- 22:11Speaker 5: go make an album. They don't give you writers, they don't.
- 22:13Speaker 5: They want you to come with followers, they want you
- 22:15Speaker 5: to come with YouTube hits. They want you. You got
- 22:18Speaker 5: to have your own thing done, produced, mixed, everything done.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Where they used to be like here's one hundred thousand,
- 22:24Speaker 5: go do this, go do that, go get this writer,
- 22:27Speaker 5: go shoot this video. Nothing no more. You're on your
- 22:30Speaker 5: own with everything, and if it goes, it goes. They
- 22:33Speaker 5: make money. And if it don't go, they don't lose
- 22:35Speaker 5: the money.
- 22:36Speaker 4: They don't care.
- 22:37Speaker 5: They don't care.
- 22:38Speaker 3: They can kill us. It's on the it's on the
- 22:40Speaker 3: the artist's side. Correct if they you know, if they
- 22:43Speaker 3: want you, correct they don't. But but all these these
- 22:46Speaker 3: these kids don't have any attention spans. Even it's like thirty.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Seconds that's why everything goes by, like to attack and
- 22:55Speaker 5: this and that. So there's a song that came out
- 22:57Speaker 5: like the other. It came out ten years ago, you
- 23:00Speaker 5: know the song that now there's a million memes and
- 23:02Speaker 5: the guy who's got his eyes closed.
- 23:04Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay.
- 23:07Speaker 5: That song came out like fifteen twenty years ago. It
- 23:11Speaker 5: was never popular when it came out, it was a dud.
- 23:13Speaker 6: I remember, so weird.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Now TikTok picked up the song blew up twenty years.
- 23:19Speaker 6: Later, your friends and neighbors with John Ham. Yeah, he's
- 23:23Speaker 6: in the club and it's like and now it blue
- 23:26Speaker 6: up now.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 5: And once in a while, like things will come back
- 23:30Speaker 5: and songs and I'm like, wow, they're playing this song again,
- 23:33Speaker 5: and it's all because of TikTok. Like now they're playing
- 23:36Speaker 5: double Dutch buss. All the kids are doing dances to it.
- 23:40Speaker 5: This that this, It blew the record back up.
- 23:42Speaker 7: I think it's blowing parents' minds because they're like, you
- 23:44Speaker 7: guys don't even know murder on the dance floor because
- 23:50Speaker 7: of soul Burn exactly, the murder on the dance Like,
- 23:54Speaker 7: wait a minute.
- 23:55Speaker 6: Is that from my childhood? My parents came in they're like,
- 23:57Speaker 6: what the hell, and it's what happens.
- 24:00Speaker 4: They think it's new, and I'm like, what, well, listen,
- 24:02Speaker 4: I mean you think about a lot of things.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Look, that's that's them telling us the universe, telling us
- 24:08Speaker 3: that this is a great conversation.
- 24:12Speaker 4: From from the ceiling.
- 24:14Speaker 5: What is happening?
- 24:16Speaker 6: That was that was just for you.
- 24:18Speaker 4: I have them to do that. That was just playing.
- 24:20Speaker 5: That was also.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Of course, like but even the movies like that come
- 24:26Speaker 3: out now, like like like when Queen came out, when
- 24:29Speaker 3: Blahamian raps, my kids listen, I always put them.
- 24:33Speaker 4: They always love classic rock. They always loved everything because
- 24:36Speaker 4: I listened to it.
- 24:37Speaker 6: They but h.
- 24:41Speaker 4: At that time she was fourteen years old. Now knows
- 24:43Speaker 4: every Queen song and every word and every word to
- 24:46Speaker 4: every Queen, which I love because that was poet. That
- 24:49Speaker 4: was poetry.
- 24:50Speaker 5: And I said, great music. We will rock you every stadium,
- 24:56Speaker 5: every sports events.
- 24:59Speaker 3: We had, the champions like forget like come on, you know.
- 25:03Speaker 3: So it's it's just like the all music.
- 25:07Speaker 4: I don't know. We'll never die, never never die. It's
- 25:10Speaker 4: so it's so great, it really is. And I'm glad
- 25:14Speaker 4: that it keeps coming back because you know, they don't have.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Anything to replace anything.
- 25:20Speaker 3: And I feel like you're an old soul that you like,
- 25:23Speaker 3: like my daughter to she likes my old one, likes
- 25:27Speaker 3: all the old stuff.
- 25:28Speaker 6: She likes open mind, and you definitely do.
- 25:31Speaker 4: But there's a lot of.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Good new artists, Aul, so you like that that are good,
- 25:37Speaker 5: you know, But just between.
- 25:39Speaker 7: I think it takes also a lot more to break
- 25:42Speaker 7: through all the other artists. Its people say saturated, but
- 25:45Speaker 7: I think it's just that our attentions fans are so short,
- 25:48Speaker 7: so in order to catch people's attention, it's got to
- 25:50Speaker 7: be like real.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Real good. Yeah, exactly what do you like to listen to?
- 25:55Speaker 4: Now?
- 25:56Speaker 2: You know?
- 25:56Speaker 7: But it's funny you say old soul, because I'm I'm
- 25:58Speaker 7: a huge mix. So it's either between like I listened
- 26:01Speaker 7: to old school like eurhythmics like and I love when
- 26:04Speaker 7: I have those type of like dance beats. I love
- 26:06Speaker 7: when they use it in the club and they throw
- 26:07Speaker 7: it into like a new beat, and then you know,
- 26:09Speaker 7: I grew up. I listened to Bad Bunny, I listened
- 26:12Speaker 7: to all types of medangae and this and the Spanish
- 26:14Speaker 7: sound music. But yeah, if you looked at my Spotify,
- 26:18Speaker 7: you'd be like what then does this throw on because it's.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Like such a mix, right, is an amazing artist, incredibly,
- 26:23Speaker 5: I mean, and he's big in Italy, he's big all
- 26:25Speaker 5: around the world. Yeah, you know, like he performed the
- 26:27Speaker 5: super Bowl. He was the biggest artist this year out
- 26:31Speaker 5: of all kinds of music and stuff like that.
- 26:34Speaker 1: You know.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Yeah, so I like to show.
- 26:38Speaker 4: A job, good job.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I wish he would have sung more in English because
- 26:43Speaker 3: but it wasn't really appreciated English songs.
- 26:46Speaker 5: You know, maybe he'll crossover, yeah, I.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Think what people would have appreciated it, or if he
- 26:52Speaker 3: sung in English at least, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Especially he's gonna he's going to probably cross over and
- 26:58Speaker 5: do some American stuff also, which is the next move
- 27:01Speaker 5: for him? It should be.
- 27:03Speaker 4: I mean, everybody did that Shakira Martin, they all you know,
- 27:07Speaker 4: look what he did.
- 27:07Speaker 5: He brought out Ricky.
- 27:08Speaker 6: Martin a little bit, yeah, right kind of.
- 27:12Speaker 5: But he's smart, smart man smart. You know. The whole
- 27:16Speaker 5: scenery everything that he did was all planned, you know,
- 27:20Speaker 5: like showing like the Bronx, showing like the you know,
- 27:24Speaker 5: like Washington Heights, and they were all real places that
- 27:30Speaker 5: he built the stage around and everything.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a cool it was it was cool.
- 27:36Speaker 4: I liked it. I thought it was interesting and I
- 27:39Speaker 4: and I like that that whole set. I wish Gaga
- 27:43Speaker 4: would have sung a little bit more. Yeah, it would
- 27:45Speaker 4: have been I.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Know, you know what it was. Lady Gaga did a
- 27:50Speaker 5: salsa version of her song of the one Bruno Mars
- 27:55Speaker 5: would a smile. So getting a Lady Gaga, I was
- 27:59Speaker 5: one of the first person's on New York radio to
- 28:03Speaker 5: break her record.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Do you know, No, you don't know what her name
- 28:09Speaker 3: came from? A queen so on radio Google. So she
- 28:13Speaker 3: always said that she was the.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Female Freddie Mercury and that she called her self Lady.
- 28:19Speaker 5: I'm going to give you a little quick quick. I'm
- 28:23Speaker 5: gonna give you a quick story. So Lady Gaga used
- 28:25Speaker 5: to go to the school in the city here, Sacred Heart.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Paris Hilton went there. She got thrown out. I used
- 28:32Speaker 5: to do all the events there I still do, and
- 28:35Speaker 5: she was there. She used to grab the microphone all
- 28:38Speaker 5: the time, perform and stuff. When she came to the
- 28:41Speaker 5: radio station the first time. Eighty seven point seven was
- 28:45Speaker 5: the station I was on. It was in Brooklyn. It
- 28:48Speaker 5: was Halloween and she came all dressed. We thought everyone
- 28:52Speaker 5: thought she was in like her Halloween costume, but she
- 28:56Speaker 5: was just dressed the way she always dresses and all
- 28:59Speaker 5: that stuff. So I knew her from the school from
- 29:02Speaker 5: her grabbing the microphone. She actually did a special on
- 29:06Speaker 5: Thanksgiving that she had shot right at the school with
- 29:09Speaker 5: the nuns. So all the nuns ran that school and stuff,
- 29:12Speaker 5: so they would have their dances, they would have their
- 29:14Speaker 5: poms everything at the school, and we would bring in
- 29:17Speaker 5: the lighting, the equipment, the DJing and all that stuff,
- 29:19Speaker 5: and she would grab the mic and sing when she
- 29:21Speaker 5: was no one, you know, nobody knew who she was
- 29:23Speaker 5: when she came to the station. She brought the song
- 29:26Speaker 5: and then we would have a thing that was called
- 29:29Speaker 5: the music Thursdays, there was a music meeting, so the
- 29:31Speaker 5: new artists would line up. We'd play this song. We
- 29:34Speaker 5: tell them you got to change this, you got to
- 29:36Speaker 5: change that. You should do this, or it's good, we're
- 29:40Speaker 5: going to add it or maybe work on it a
- 29:41Speaker 5: little bit more.
- 29:43Speaker 1: So.
- 29:43Speaker 5: My boss at the time didn't want to play the song,
- 29:46Speaker 5: and I played it, yeah, and he actually got mad
- 29:50Speaker 5: at me that I played it, and he's like, why
- 29:53Speaker 5: did you play that song and the phone lines lit
- 29:55Speaker 5: up like everyone loved it because I love you, so
- 29:59Speaker 5: I said, I said to him, I said this man,
- 30:03Speaker 5: I said this Madonna. He laughed at me, this guy,
- 30:08Speaker 5: and he was my boss, you know. And then she
- 30:11Speaker 5: wound up being as big as Madonna.
- 30:14Speaker 6: Yeah, and what song was it?
- 30:15Speaker 4: It was on her first stance.
- 30:17Speaker 5: It was just Yes.
- 30:18Speaker 6: I remember watching MTV. I used to watch it in
- 30:20Speaker 6: the mornings. The music videos. They don't do music videos.
- 30:22Speaker 4: That they used to.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Oh no, those are over right now.
- 30:26Speaker 6: People will do it just for that creative, you know,
- 30:28Speaker 6: like something, but they.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Don't do it now. I don't know why they got
- 30:34Speaker 5: this and that they should they should. So so she
- 30:37Speaker 5: had brought another record to us. It was called the
- 30:39Speaker 5: poke Face, so Poka Face really had a different line
- 30:44Speaker 5: and then it was dirty and we had told her
- 30:48Speaker 5: you have to change it. You can have that. It
- 30:50Speaker 5: said bleep her face, That's what it said in the song.
- 30:54Speaker 5: So then she changed it and did all that, and
- 30:57Speaker 5: then it went to radio. So we were a little
- 30:59Speaker 5: bit of a small per station, but because we took
- 31:01Speaker 5: a shot on it, then Z one hundred, then one
- 31:04Speaker 5: o three, then every other station jumped on it.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Radio.
- 31:08Speaker 2: No.
- 31:09Speaker 5: I still do one O four seven up in Piughckkeepsie.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Uh it's another clear channel station, same as like one
- 31:18Speaker 5: O three five. Yeah, so we do it.
- 31:21Speaker 1: You know what it is?
- 31:22Speaker 5: Radio changed Also, everything is taped, everything is pre programmed.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Nothing's like, hey, can you play this record? Like I
- 31:30Speaker 5: used to go live. I used to do a midday
- 31:32Speaker 5: mix show that was the number one rated show on
- 31:35Speaker 5: eighty seven point seven, and it was a lunch mix.
