- 0:00Welcome everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:02My name is Jackie aka Wishes Mama, and joining me is my
- 0:05wonderful cohost Kate aka the Disney Sis Cerone and together
- 0:09we are Mom St. USA.
- 0:11We are celebrating a milestone on our podcast and that is our
- 0:16one year anniversary of Mom St. USA which is so exciting.
- 0:21It is. I am so thrilled that it's, it
- 0:24doesn't feel like a year. It feels like it's been way
- 0:26shorter than that. But you know, that usually is
- 0:28how it how it goes when you're having fun, right?
- 0:30It's so true. So child wise, yes.
- 0:33And we are excited that tonight also marks the official
- 0:35partnership that Mom St. USA has now with the Chip and Co
- 0:39podcast network. So we are excited to be a part
- 0:42of that family going forward and looking forward to connecting
- 0:45with the creators there and joining that group and having
- 0:49our information available to people over there as well.
- 0:52Yeah, it's such an exciting time to get to join that podcast
- 0:56network, which has some really wonderful podcasts on it
- 0:58already. So we're kind of going to do
- 1:13some reintroducing and some reexplanation of who we are and
- 1:19how we ended up here. So very, very excited about
- 1:01that. So we thought for tonight's
- 1:03show, we thought we'd do a little a couple of things to
- 1:06celebrate. Do you want to lay out how we're
- 1:09going to go through this, Jackie?
- 1:21For those of you that maybe new listening to us or those of you
- 1:24who have been here with us for the last year can reminisce with
- 1:27us on our last year of Mom St. USA.
- 1:30But we're going to kind of, you know, chat a little bit about
- 1:32ourselves and then chat a little bit about Mom St. and talk about
- 1:36some of our favorite moments and tips and tricks and all of that.
- 1:39So it's going to be still a lot of really good info for you
- 1:42guys, but also a little bit of fun with just some more info
- 1:45about us and who we are. Yeah, I'm really looking forward
- 1:49to this one just because I feel like we it's good to look back,
- 1:53you know and and think about where you've been, how far
- 1:56you've come and some of your favorite moments.
- 1:58I think we don't pause enough to reflect on things that are were
- 2:03important and meaningful to us and to take that time.
- 2:05I think it's so important when you hit these milestones to just
- 2:07take a moment, you know, I think that's important.
- 2:10So, yeah, absolutely. Well, Kate, let's hear some
- 2:14about you, OK, And let's hear about all of the aspects of your
- 2:19life. Let's get some reintroductions
- 2:24to get ready. Is the Disney.
- 2:26Sissar, I know. Well I actually I get this
- 2:31question a lot because I realize I haven't shared a lot of my
- 2:34journey and I won't get too deep in the weeds on it cuz that's
- 2:37probably something for my own kind of diseases world, but.
- 2:41Just let's start off with my mom life, because this is a Disney
- 2:45parent show where we help parents plan more magical
- 2:48vacations for their family. So I am a mom of three beautiful
- 2:52children. They are ages 810 and 13.
- 2:56I have two girls and a boy. So they're starting to get into
- 3:00those teenage years. So, you know, pray for me and
- 3:02send good times and all of that, because who it's already a
- 3:05little bit soft at times. I was a stay at home mom for
- 3:10about 10 years, so I spent a lot of time with my kids and I was a
- 3:13homeschooling mom up until this year and my kids are going to
- 3:16school for the very first time. So yeah, more prayers for that.
- 3:20But it is very exciting to have, you know, seasons change with
- 3:24your families and whatnot. So that's what's happening with
- 3:26us. I also have been married to my
- 3:29husband for 17 wonderful years. I've known him for 19.
- 3:33And his name is Elliott. He is a professor of music and a
- 3:36VP at a college. He's also a professional
- 3:39musician, so he plays the Elin pipes, the Irish bagpipe.
- 3:43For those of you who don't know, Elin means elbow.
- 3:45So you play it with your elbows. You don't blow into it.
- 3:47And it's a, it's a. Instrument that is meant for
- 3:52dance music, so it's played indoors, so it's not as loud as
- 3:54like the Scottish pipes to get played outside.
- 3:56So everybody's like, how do you tolerate that?
- 3:58And I was like, they're not that bad, very different, very.
- 4:01He's really good at it, so that's always helpful.
- 4:05Yeah, sometimes he has students over.
- 4:07They're not as good. They're learning and we applaud
- 4:10that. So it's great.
- 4:13In so that's kind of a little bit of my mom life my home life
- 4:16and I am based in Oregon. A lot of people ask where I'm
- 4:19from. So I'll just mention that I'm I
- 4:21am not I don't live near any of the Disney parks.
- 4:23Everybody assumes like oh I thought you were in Lai thought
- 4:25you lived in Florida. I was like no, I just I just go
- 4:28there a lot. So in my creative life as a
- 4:31Disney creator, actually started back in 2020 when, you know,
- 4:36everything changed in the world and I was like everybody was
- 4:39reevaluating everything and. I was like, this is something I
- 4:42would really love to do. And I just started with a blog
- 4:44because I'm a writer by trade. And I I just started writing
- 4:49about Disney. And then I just posted on
- 4:50Instagram, you know, once in a while and it like, went nowhere
- 4:54for like, you know, a few years. It didn't go anywhere for like 2
- 4:58years. And I finally was at this place
- 5:00where I told my husband I was like, is this even worth doing?
- 5:03I feel like I'm just wasting my time.
- 5:04Like nobody cares that I write any of this.
- 5:06Nobody cares what I'm saying. I don't.
- 5:09I don't even like my mom reads it and my dad, they read it and
- 5:13they answered every week on my blog.
- 5:14They're so sweet, but I'm like, we love supportive parents.
- 5:18I know, like, they're wonderful. But nobody else was reading it.
- 5:22I was like, this doesn't seem worth it anymore, you know?
- 5:24And I really got close to giving up.
- 5:25And that is when I had a post go super viral on TikTok.
- 5:29I had a 20 million views. It was crazy and everything kind
- 5:33of just blew up overnight. And since then, it's all just
- 5:37kind of been growing and whatnot.
- 5:38And then I since then I have published 2 books.
- 5:42So I've published where the Firefly Stance, which is a I
- 5:47won't get into these too much, but I have where the Firefly
- 5:49Stance, which is a a fiction story of romantic suspense that
- 5:54stars Disney Live streamers who are historians in the Disney
- 5:58Parks. And then I also have a glimpse
- 6:00of the magic, which is a nonfiction.
- 6:02It's called Finding ourselves a Glimpse of the magic, Finding
- 6:04ourselves in the Disney Story. So I've written two books there
- 6:07on Amazon. I also have two podcasts, one
- 6:10that's called District with Kate and Kirk and then of course Mom
- 6:12St. USA with my good friend Jackie
- 6:14here. So I'm posting on multi
- 6:19platforms. I have books and podcasts and I
- 6:22am a busy lady, I will say that. So that's a little bit of my
- 6:26creator life. And it's been such a joy because
- 6:29I really get to dig into obscure Disney history that nobody's
- 6:31ever heard about. And it's such a joy.
- 6:33And also I'll get to write about the Disney parks, which I love
- 6:36so, And then just a little bit of my Disney life.
- 6:41So to give you context about why we do this show, which is more
- 6:44about Disney planning than Disney history.
- 6:48My mom was in Disneyland on opening year of 1955, so I have
- 6:53here. I'll play it for you guys.
- 6:55I can hear it. This is a little Tinker Bell
- 6:59that my mom got from Disneyland and it says 1955 by Walt Disney
- 7:04Productions on the bottom. So my mother went to Disneyland
- 7:09and then I went for the first time when I was two, which was
- 7:12in the 80s because I'm super old.
- 7:14And then stop it. And then we went every few years
- 7:19growing up and my parents, you know, my parents got divorced
- 7:23and we did kind of like the Disney dad thing.
- 7:24So my dad took us to Disney. So I have a lot of really
- 7:27wonderful memories with my dad and my brother at Disney.
- 7:31I started research, researching kind of obscure Disney history,
- 7:33kind of just going down rabbit holes and reading like every
- 7:36book I could possibly get my hands on.
- 7:38About 2005. Six is when I started doing
- 7:41that, so quite a few years ago now.
- 7:45And then I went to Disneyland Paris in 2006, which I'm also
- 7:48going to again this month, so I'm excited to see how it's
- 7:50changed since I went there. I also have been on 2 Disney
- 7:57cruises. One I went to three day cruise
- 8:00in the Caribbean and I got that like stomach virus that's
- 8:03sometimes on cruise ships, no. And so I got quarantined in my
- 8:06cabin and never got to go to their private island.
- 8:11So I went to the balcony and looked at it and then I went
- 8:15back to bed cuz I was like really sick.
- 8:18That sounds so sad. It was very sad.
- 8:22So someday I'm going to get back there and actually go on the
- 8:24island. But then I made-up for it.
- 8:27We did a seven day cruise on the Disney Wonder in Alaska so that
- 8:32I was just looking through my pictures of that the other day,
- 8:33which was so sweet. I think I sent a few to Jackie
- 8:35cuz I had my kids in these like ridiculously cute costumes.
- 8:39I was like, those are the days. And then I'm going on a Disney
- 8:43cruise this next month to Northern Europe.
- 8:46So that'll be my a new cruise ship for me because I've always
- 8:49been on the Wonder. For whatever reason, I'm always
- 8:50end up on the same boat. So this time I get to go in the
- 8:52Disney Dream, which I'm very excited about.
- 8:55Other than that, in my Disney Life, I've been a pass holder at
- 8:58Disney World and Disneyland, both since 19, sorry, not
- 9:02nineteen. Since 2019, I've been a pass
- 9:05holder at both. So I like to say I commute to
- 9:08the Disney park. So I go.
- 9:10One month I usually go to one and then the other month I go to
- 9:13the other and that's because I am a creator and so I go really
- 9:16often, which helps me be able to give you guys the best advice
- 9:18possible for how to tour the parks.
- 9:20So really grateful to get to do that.
- 9:22I realize I'm very it's a privilege to get to do that, but
- 9:26it is it is a lot of work because I am working when I go
- 9:28there most of the time, but I still enjoy it quite a lot, so
- 9:32it's fun work. It is fun work now.
- 9:34I I love it. I've I've worked really hard to
- 9:37get there where it can become my work and I'm grateful for it but
- 9:41recognize that it was work to get there.
- 9:43So but anyway that's a little bit about me.
- 9:47Probably more than you needed to know but that's that's me and I
- 9:50have a lot of people saying like 80s is not old.
- 9:52So yeah, you know, sure, You're as young as you feel.
- 9:58Some days I feel older than others.
- 10:00Let's just say that. And for those of you listening
- 10:04to the audio version of our podcast, we will reference our
- 10:06chat from time to time because we do record these live on our
- 10:10different things that our friends are saying.
- 10:12That is where that information is coming from.
- 10:14Just to give you a little look at the way that we run things
- 10:18here at Mom St. Yes, I do have a question from
- 10:22Amy. It says Kate, are your kids
- 10:24Disney lovers? And I would say.
- 10:26Two out of three of my kids are Disney lovers.
- 10:29My oldest, my 13 year old. I I think he likes the thrills,
- 10:33thrill rides, but I think he rebels against liking Disney
- 10:36because I like it and he's 13, so he enjoys it when he goes
- 10:42most of the time. He doesn't like heat though, and
- 10:44it's always hot in most of the Disney park, so maybe Disneyland
- 10:47Paris will convince him to like it because it's not as hot
- 10:49there. Hopefully, hopefully.
- 10:51I don't know. In my research I have been
- 10:54looking at weather and it's been a little warm over there, so.
- 10:57I gotta go check that again. Maybe by the time you get there
- 11:01cuz you got a little while before you get to Disneyland
- 11:04Paris. Hopefully it will.
- 11:05That is true. Not be so bad.
- 11:07Yes. That's true.
- 11:09All righty. Well, that's enough about me,
- 11:10Jackie. How about you?
- 11:12Yeah, a little bit about you. So I'm not nearly as interesting
- 11:16as Kate is. Whatever.
- 11:18They're all different. That's the beautiful thing.
- 11:22But I am a mom to two kiddos. I have a boy and a girl.
- 11:26They are. Oh gosh, my oldest turns 7 on
- 11:29Saturday and my youngest will be 5 in a few short weeks.
- 11:34So they are getting old and I'm just not here for it, but you
- 11:38know. Such as.
- 11:39That's tough. Such a transition time during
- 11:41those ages. Yeah, so and almost seven and
- 11:44almost five year old. I also have two dogs that will
- 11:47from time to time show up when I do my personal content and live
- 11:51streams. They like to bug me while I'm
- 11:54doing work and all of that type of thing.
- 11:56But, and I live in Ohio, so I am not local to any of the Disney
- 12:01parks either. I am much more of a Walt Disney
- 12:04World girl as I have not made it out to Disneyland yet and my
- 12:10husband and I have been married for nine years.
- 12:13Kate and I have a lot in common when it comes to what our
- 12:15husbands do because my husband also teaches music, but he does
- 12:18it at more of a high school, middle school level.
- 12:21So lots of marching band and indoor wins and all sorts of fun
- 12:26things. But Kate and I bonded very
- 12:28quickly over being involved in music, as we both were also
- 12:32involved in music in our college years.
- 12:36I am a former music teacher. I taught elementary music and
- 12:38also a former preschool teacher. So you know all of the good
- 12:42things with the kids. Yeah, and.
- 12:44I have my Bachelor of Arts and music.
- 12:47That's my connection for college.
- 12:48I don't think I mentioned that. Yes, yes.
- 12:50And I have a music education degree, so there you go.
- 12:53You know, it works. It works.
- 12:55As far as my creator life goes, I really just started doing
- 13:00content creation for fun. I have been a stay at home mom
- 13:03since May of 2021 and a few months later I kind of stumbled
- 13:08upon TikTok and just started posting.
- 13:12I just started posting things for fun on there and then
- 13:18shortly after that found our good friend Kirk at Walrus Carp
- 13:22and just kind of started posting Disney stuff for fun.
- 13:25You know with. After finding this group of
- 13:28Disney lovers and Disney friends that I could chat with online
- 13:33about things, I have recently started doing more kind of
- 13:37informative content, mostly about Genie.
- 13:40Plus, I do consider myself pretty much a pro when it comes
- 13:44to Genie. Plus, not to shoot my own horn,
- 13:47but. You are, you are a pro.
- 13:50I do a lot of thing. You don't know the time.
- 13:52Like I think you're the go to for Genie Plus.
- 13:55So I do a lot with Genie Plus. I help friends with trips and I
- 14:00love helping people plan and my content creating kind of has
- 14:05shifted towards that a little bit more.
- 14:08I just do it for fun cuz I like, I like talking about Disney and
- 14:12I have found a lovely community in our pocket, fam community
- 14:16online that I just like to chat about Disney things with.
- 14:19So it's good. And as far as my Disney life, I
- 14:21have visited Walt Disney World countless times.
- 14:25My first trip was in 1996 and I have visited as a kid.
- 14:31I have visited as an adult, I have visited with my kids.
- 14:35So I've got a little bit of all of those stages kind of
- 14:40experience when it comes to Walt Disney World.
- 14:43And yeah, my last trip was in May and my next upcoming trip is
- 14:46in November. So exciting.
- 14:48We definitely get to the parks when we can.
- 14:53We're not pass holders, so it is a little bit more pricey for us
- 14:56to go multiple times a year, but we try our best to spoil our
- 14:59kids and take them as soon as and as often as we can.
- 15:04I know you got the question if your kids were Disney lovers.
- 15:07My kids are still little, so they're very much in the middle
- 15:09of the magic, so it's always super fun to be able to take
- 15:13them. And you should.
- 15:16Well, they still are loved like that, and hopefully they stay
- 15:19that way. Yes.
- 15:20So my oldest has loved Lion King and Mickey Mouse for as long as
- 15:25he's been able to recognize what they are.
- 15:28And my daughter is a Frozen fanatic, as most girls her age
- 15:34and a little bit older are. She also loves Little Mermaid,
- 15:38so I get a little bit of everything when it comes to
- 15:41that. My husband is a big Star Wars
- 15:44and Marvel guy, so between the four of us, we've got all of the
- 15:47bases covered when it comes to all the little corners of the
- 15:52Disney parks down in Florida, so.
- 15:55Yeah, well, I love that. Both of us, between the two of
- 16:00us we have like I've had kids that were younger obviously and
- 16:03taking them to Disney, but now my kids are a little bit older,
- 16:06but I'm kind of like more in the older children to teen year.
- 16:09So I love that between the two of us, we have that spread of
- 16:13experience for taking kids to Disney, which helps a lot.
- 16:17I think with this podcast. Yeah, I agree.
- 16:19I mean, I can remember taking my son on his first trip when he
- 16:23was under two, you know, all the way up to our last trip.
- 16:27My kids rode Tower of Terror for the first time.
- 16:29So like I have a lot of kind of that in between and then from
- 16:33where I kind of stopped you pick up and and can fill in the gaps
- 16:37all the way up through your oldest which is I agree is very
- 16:40helpful. Yeah, I mean I I'm, I remember
- 16:43doing things like changing diapers in the parks, but it's
- 16:45been a long time. It's been a fair amount of
- 16:48years. So you know that's good that you
- 16:51would have more of a little bit fresher experience with that
- 16:53than I do. That's true.
- 16:55That is true. So talking about that, maybe we
- 16:57should let you know go into how Mom St. started.
- 17:00Like, what is this all about? How did we, how did we start?
- 17:04I feel like, do you want to answer that one?
- 17:06Yeah, sure. So the very beginning origins,
- 17:11so to speak, of Mom St. came from over a year ago.
- 17:16Kate was live in the parks. I don't remember if you were in
- 17:19Disney World or Disneyland at the time.
- 17:21I was an animal Kingdom. I remember Walking Sitting
- 17:24Animal Kingdom and Walking out and there was a comment in the
- 17:28chat that basically requested for Kate to somehow share more
- 17:35information about like being a mom and going to the parks and
- 17:39being a female and going to the parks.
- 17:40Because it's really interesting. A lot of the live streaming and
- 17:44content creating that we see a lot in both Disneyland and
- 17:48Disney World is heavily male dominated, just for whatever
- 17:53reason, which like I'm all for that guys.
- 17:56It's all good. Yeah.
- 17:57But it was one of those things where those requests started
- 18:00coming in specifically just because like Kate was live in
- 18:03the parks and everyone was loving hearing the female mom
- 18:06perspective. And so it was like that that was
- 18:08the little, the little seed that planted what is now the Mom St.
- 18:13flower Bush. I don't know.
- 18:17Oh my gosh. Yeah.
- 18:20And I think then I I don't remember if I contacted you or
- 18:23you contacted me or we contacted each other.
- 18:26Yeah, I think it was one of those things that you contacted
- 18:30me and I was like, I was thinking a similar thing.
- 18:32That's right. That sounds right.
- 18:34And let's do something together. And then we're like, well, if
- 18:38we're gonna do this show all about kind of like.
- 18:40For Disney families and and planning and thinking about your
- 18:44Disney vacations and helping people are like, we should
- 18:46probably podcast this because we are moms who know that you can't
- 18:51often catch a live show on TikTok because you're busy,
- 18:54You're putting your kids to bed, you're making dinner, you're
- 18:56prepping lunches. You're like, you know you're at
- 18:59activity is you're at sports, right?
- 19:01Like you are moms are busy, busy people and so are dads.
- 19:04Like like parents aren't busy people.
- 19:07And you really just need to be able to get that information
- 19:11when it's convenient for you. So we are like, let's podcast,
- 19:13let's put it on YouTube so that people can access it whenever
- 19:17they need to. So that was our vision for Mom
- 19:20St. which is what we've done. Yeah, I think we've been fairly
- 19:24successful at that. So you know, we, like Kate said,
- 19:27we want to make sure that the information is accessible to you
- 19:30all and that you can find it whenever you need it.
- 19:32And Kate and I are both very organized people.
- 19:35So we try to keep everything as organized as we possibly can and
- 19:39catalogued and all of that. So if you are new to our channel
- 19:44and new to our podcast, you can find all forty of our previous
- 19:48podcasted episodes on our You Tube and also on our podcasts
- 19:53where you find podcasts, you know, kind of all sorts of
- 19:56places. So you can always find our stuff
- 19:59there. And we do, you know, reference
- 20:01some of those episodes from time to time just because there are
- 20:05lots of topics in those forty episodes.
- 20:07But we did. We made.
- 20:09We made a lot of good, good episodes in our first year, I
- 20:13feel like. Yeah, and I know that we did
- 20:16one, that was just, everybody loved it.
- 20:20That was how to save money at Disney and how to budget for
- 20:22Disney. And so that one I believe is
- 20:24going to show up for our Chip and Co audience as well because
- 20:27we want to make sure that information is so valuable and
- 20:31so timely right now with everybody trying to save money.

- 21:39you can find us. All of those links can be found
- 21:41in our social media BIOS. If that is something that you're
- 21:44like, I have this question that I can't find the answer to.
- 21:47We got you. We'll help you 100%.
- 21:52Well, I think that's how Mom St. So this was hard. started.
- 21:54Should we move on to maybe some of our top tips from this past
- 21:58year? I feel like I was like we
- 22:02covered so many good things. Honestly, there's we could talk
- 22:07for hours on some of our top tips for this past year, but I
- 22:10think we just, we picked a few. Do you want to go first?
- 22:12Yeah, sure. A few.
- 22:13Yeah. So no surprise to anybody, My
- 22:16top tips from this last year have been all of the Genie Plus
- 22:19information that I've given. Not too long ago we did an
- 22:23entire episode about the the nitty gritty details of Genie
- 22:26Plus and how it works in both Disneyland and in Disney World.
- 22:32So that that's just like my home base.
- 22:34That's what I just know really, really well and can answer 90%
- 22:38of questions about South. Like, that's my comfort zone.
- 22:41And I feel like it was really helpful because I know that we
- 22:44had a lot of interaction that episode in the chat and we had a
- 22:47lot of people getting their questions answered, which is
- 22:49always what I'm here for. So you know how to book and when
- 22:52to book and you know the click clack method and how to modify
- 22:57and all of that. All of those types of things
- 23:00were kind of my top tips that I feel like I contributed to the
- 23:05most when it came to this past year of Mom Street.
- 23:08Do you want to tell them at least one of them?
- 23:11Explain what the tip is for people here in Newton on street.
- 23:14Yeah. OK.
- 23:15So G+ is the Fastpass system. It is the way to get your lines
- 23:22to be shorter when you go to the parks for anybody who doesn't
- 23:25know. And it is a complicated system
- 23:30that you run through either the My Disney Experience app if
- 23:33you're on the Disney World side, or the Disneyland app if you're
- 23:37out on the West Coast. And basically my biggest tip
- 23:42when it comes to Genie Plus is now that we have the ability to
- 23:46modify, which was not always a thing that we had when Genie
- 23:49Plus has been out. But now that we have the ability
- 23:51to modify, you got a book when you're eligible and then go back
- 23:55in and modify later because there is something that they
- 23:58call the the two hour window that Disney allows.
- 24:02Two hours after you booked your last one, you'll be eligible
- 24:04again. So you always want to make sure
- 24:06you're getting that clock to start.
- 24:08Your two hour countdown as quick as you possibly can, even if the
- 24:11time frame that the the app is giving you is not what you want,
- 24:16you got to book it anyway and then go back in and modify.
- 24:18So that is always my biggest my biggest tip whenever I'm
- 24:21starting to give people advice on Genie Plus.
- 24:24And modifying doesn't can't automatically cancel that your
- 24:28spot unless you actually like choose to modify it right?
- 24:31Like you can go in and check it to see if there's a different
- 24:33time you like, but then this leave it alone if you don't,
- 24:36right? Yeah.
- 24:37If it doesn't, if there's no time that pops up that's better
- 24:40than the one that you already booked, you're not out of luck.
- 24:42You still reserve that time. It's still yours until you
- 24:45actively choose to modify. So it's a really great aspect of
- 24:51Genie plus that Disney gave us when they gave us the ability to
- 24:54modify, which really hasn't been around that long, I think only
- 24:57since early spring, so not even a year yet.
- 25:02That we've had the ability to do this, but it's such a game
- 25:05changer when it comes to Genie. Plus.
- 25:07I feel like it's a super tip to be able to get the most out of
- 25:12your money, and I know that's a hot topic when it comes to
- 25:15Genie. Plus, you know a lot of people
- 25:18complaining about price points and is it really worth it?
- 25:21And will I get my money's worth? I can help you.
- 25:25I can help you get your money's worth.
- 25:27I can help you make sure that you know what you're doing.
- 25:30And you know, that's like I said, that's kind of my passion
- 25:33through Mom St. and also just outside in my general content
- 25:37creating Disney Life. You know, I work close hand in
- 25:41hand with our good friend tour guide Barbie and we do a lot
- 25:43for, you know, Genie Plus and booking in the parks.
- 25:47And I have a lot of experience with a lot of different
- 25:50situations, which I think is very helpful for me to be able
- 25:53to give you all of that information.
- 25:55Because I will never gatekeep it.
- 25:57I will always tell you everything I possibly can.
- 25:59I I feel like you can also modify dining reservations too,
- 26:03because I feel like I did that a couple of weeks ago and not only
- 26:06did I modify, I could modify how many people were in my party.
- 26:10And you can also choose if you hit modify to see if there's a
- 26:12better time that you would want to go if there's anything
- 26:14available. Sometimes it's not with advanced
- 26:17dining reservations, which are those table service restaurant
- 26:19reservations. Sometimes there isn't anything
- 26:23better available, especially if you're getting closer your trip.
- 26:25But once in a while people cancel close to the the trip and
- 26:28you're able to actually go in and modify it.
- 26:31And it doesn't automatically delete your reservation.
- 26:34You can just kind of see if there's anything available and
- 26:36then this cancel out of it if there's nothing, so.
- 26:39Yeah, I know a lot of people that will also just try to do a
- 26:42brand new reservation, but like they try both.
- 26:44So like sometimes they'll try to modify to see if something pops
- 26:47up there, because sometimes the system.
- 26:49Doesn't load everything or it gets overwhelmed if there's too
- 26:52many people checking things. So doing it multiple different
- 26:54ways is always helpful when it comes to dining.
- 26:56I feel like because too if you've got overlapping
- 26:59reservations, the system will automatically say like, hey,
- 27:02these are overlapping, which one do you want to keep kind of deal
- 27:06And then you can go from there. So it is at least a little bit
- 27:08intuitive that way when you're going to try to find those
- 27:12specific times in specific restaurants.
- 27:15Yeah, I've always had the problem that if I try to book a
- 27:18reservation at the same time, it'll say like you can't book
- 27:21anything because you already have a reservation.
- 27:23I don't know if that's a Disneyland thing.
- 27:25Maybe, but it. Probably has to be so far away,
- 27:28like it can't be the exact same time, but if it's like 1/2 hour
- 27:31different or something 20 minutes to half hour different,
- 27:34I think then it will let you do that.
- 27:36So, but you know, I feel like they're constantly.
- 27:39Adjusting and improving and all of that with, I mean the new
- 27:44dining, the most recent dining update.
- 27:46They finally give you the ability to see all of the
- 27:48available times. Amazing page.
- 27:51Yay. Waited.
- 27:53For that for years. Right.
- 27:55Right. So, yeah.
- 27:56So I feel like, you know, slowly but surely the little baby step
- 27:59improvements that all help. So that's super helpful that
- 28:03with that, you know, with that new change, you can see kind of
- 28:06all of your options all in one spot rather than having to click
- 28:09through each individual time to figure out what's available and
- 28:12what's, yes, 100% agree. And one way I did get around the
- 28:15fact that if it says like, oh, you already have a dining
- 28:17reservation and you can't make another one.
- 28:19If you have another adult in your party that has a Disney
- 28:22account, you can and make a reservation with theirs.
- 28:24And just don't put your name as another person that's on
- 28:27there's. Just leave it blank and say
- 28:28they'll have their name. And then it'll just be like
- 28:30guest 1-2 and three or whatever. You can make one with theirs.
- 28:33And then that way, you know you have one booked before you
- 28:36canceled this one. And that's how I've gotten
- 28:38around that in the past because that otherwise, like you might
- 28:41just be stuck if it's at a similar time or nearby and it
- 28:44won't let you book. It's just finicky sometimes.
- 28:46These are just, that's just one of the ways around it, so.
- 28:50Yeah. So whether you're looking at
- 28:51Genie Plus system or the ADR doing dining reservation system,
- 28:56lots of little quirks when it comes to those.
- 29:00It's unnecessarily complicated at times.
- 29:02I will say that. And I think Disney knows and
- 29:05they're trying to fix things about it, which we really do
- 29:07appreciate because I think that it can only get better from
- 29:10there, so. Like I said, it's those little
- 29:13tiny updates, you know, just this week they released the new
- 29:17update to. The Genie Plus tip board where
- 29:20you've got that little toggle switch at the top.
- 29:22So if any of you saw, I actually posted a video about it today,
- 29:26but they have this little toggle switch at the top now where you
- 29:29can swipe it and when you do, it will show you only the rides
- 29:32that are eligible for lightning lanes for your Genie Plus.
- 29:36Great, great. So especially at Magic Kingdom
- 29:39that is massive. Because and and I would say
- 29:43Epcot, because Epcot puts a lot of their shows on the tip board,
- 29:45which is great because the shows are fantastic.
- 29:48All the the performers are phenomenal.
- 29:51But if you're just trying to narrow down here Genie Plus and
- 29:54trying to figure out what rides you've done and haven't done.
- 29:57It's nice to kind of filter out the.
- 30:00Extra. So they gave us the ability to
- 30:02do that just this week, which is really, really helpful.
- 30:05I feel like especially for someone who may be feeling
- 30:08overwhelmed by that Genie Plus system, having the ability to
- 30:12just clear it all out and just bare bones look at what is
- 30:16available to you is super helpful.
- 30:18Yes, 100% agree. That was a great change.
- 30:21Yeah, and that happened for Disney World and Disneyland.
- 30:24So both. East Coast and West Coast, Yeah,
- 30:26I change. Disneyland doesn't always get
- 30:29all the things. So, you know, like, I mean they
- 30:32kind of they're quirky that way where one will have one way and
- 30:34one will have the other. And so we try to talk about that
- 30:37throughout Mom St. whatever. We we run into some weird thing
- 30:40where it's different. At Disneyland, we try to let you
- 30:42guys know because it's a especially if you're Disney
- 30:45World, they're going to Disneyland, you'll be like, wait
- 30:47a minute, this is what I do over there.
- 30:49This is different. Like you blew my mind the other
- 30:51night when you told me that at Disneyland you cannot select
- 30:54times for. Individual lightning lanes,
- 30:56right? That's only a Disney World
- 30:58thing. At Disneyland.
- 31:00They auto give you the next available time for your
- 31:03individual lightning lane. And that blew my mind.
- 31:06Wild. You're paying for it but yet you
- 31:09can't pick a time. So I don't know maybe they'll.
- 31:11I bet they'll change that. I think it's only I think so too
- 31:14and I think it's hard because Disneyland right now I I almost
- 31:17feel like to an extent with some of that technology they're
- 31:20playing a little bit of catch up because they just got the magic
- 31:23bands and they're not even really still fully implemented
- 31:25into the part can't pay with them because.
- 31:28Right. So like they're they're getting
- 31:30there and they're taking those steps, but with some of that
- 31:33they're playing catch up. But then in other aspects it's
- 31:35like Disney World. Super far behind.
- 31:38You know like food is the big one that I think of like
- 31:40Disneyland food is far superior to Disney World food South.
- 31:45It's like you know you gotta way, way the pros and cons of
- 31:50each park. I guess if you're if you're
- 31:51someone who's looking at like which one do I want to go to.
- 31:54There's lots of differences and lots of similarities and you
- 31:57know what both places the magic is there.
- 31:59So either way, so I have you a couple tips too that I thought I
- 32:06would highlight if that's if that's OK for the top tips from
- 32:11this past year. And I have to say, since we kind
- 32:12of mentioned magic bands, I want to mention that one of my top
- 32:16tips was something that I learned that I didn't realize I
- 32:19didn't know and I felt silly that I didn't know it
- 32:21considering that I I've had the magic band.
- 32:24Plus is the magic bands that like light up on your wrist.
- 32:27OK, it's like they do a few more things, additional things.
- 32:30They glow with the show and all those kinds of stuff.
- 32:32But I didn't realize that you could pair them with your phone.
- 32:38I don't know why. Like it's right on the box like
- 32:40I just like didn't even And then you can go in and I think you
- 32:43taught me this between you and Lem.
- 32:45Our friend Lem will mention him from time to time his magic
- 32:48bands and trash cans. He's a good friend of our pocket
- 32:50Pam family of creators here. But he.
- 32:55I think you actually taught me this though, to sync it with my
- 32:57phone and then you can have different colors for it that you
- 33:00can choose on your phone and turn the sensitivity up or down
- 33:03for. Like if you're interacting with
- 33:04statues or at Disney, they have the 100 like medallions that you
- 33:09can make do things and whatnot. So there's like all kinds of
- 33:12things you can do in your phone if you pair it with your phone.
- 33:16Yeah, and I felt silly that I didn't know that.
- 33:19So don't feel silly. It's OK.
- 33:21Well, I will say that that Lem taught me about the sensitivity,
- 33:26which was a major game changer because then when we went with
- 33:29my kids for the first time after the 50th stat.
- 33:32Choosing after the Magic Band Plus came up, I was like, OK, I
- 33:34got to make sure their sensitivity is on that way any
- 33:37statue that they want, they can go by and activate it, and that
- 33:40they had so much fun running up to the statues being able to do
- 33:44that. So shout out to Lem for that
- 33:45one. But I did find the color
- 33:47changing on my own because I was just playing around in the
- 33:49settings and I was like, what's this do?
- 33:51What's this do? What's this do?
- 33:53Use the colors for it. And I may change my colors
- 33:56depending on my outfit, so you know.
- 34:00Why not? It's fun, yeah, that you can use
- 34:03your Magic Band Plus for both Disneyland and Disney World.
- 34:06So if you happen to go to both, you can use them at both places.
- 34:09Not the earlier Magic bands, only the ones that light up
- 34:11Magic Band Plus and. But you do have to pair it with
- 34:14your other like account or your other ticket.
- 34:17So you actively have to change. So when I take my Magic Band
- 34:21Plus and I hop from Disney World, when I go to Disneyland,
- 34:24like a couple weeks later I have to go into my app and I have to
- 34:28like switch over. I have to go into my Disneyland
- 34:30app. I have to switch over and assign
- 34:32my Magic band to that ticket. So just a little tip there that
- 34:35if you're going to be using them for both parks, just be aware
- 34:38that that's something you'll need to do or you will get
- 34:40turned away at the gate and they're like there's no ticket
- 34:42associated with this cuz they don't recognize your Disney
- 34:44World one, go figure. So that's.
- 34:46Good to know. I hadn't thought about it.
- 34:47Yeah, if there were like steps you had to take when you
- 34:50flip-flopped between coasts. So that's good to know for.
- 34:53My future, hopefully future Disneyland trip someday.
- 34:56Yeah, now I'm just having a designated one for Disney World
- 34:59and Disneyland. I just don't want to deal with
- 35:00it. I'm like this is too much work
- 35:02so. Well, and you don't want to be
- 35:03that person that's like standing outside the gate, like, right.
- 35:07Yeah, and everybody behind you is like rolling their eyes like
- 35:10they weren't prepared. I don't want to be that person.
- 35:12No, no. Do not be that person, Colleen
- 35:17asked. Can you have one attached to
- 35:19both at the same time? I mine was not able to be
- 35:22attached to both at the same time.
- 35:23You have to pick one. So essentially you're assigning
- 35:26it to only 1 ticket because it can only be on one person and 1
- 35:29ticket at a time. So it doesn't mean that.
- 35:31However, you can assign it to your other one any at a time.
- 35:34So you can easily like go into whatever park you're going to
- 35:38Disney World's My Disney Experience app and assign it to
- 35:42the one there. If you go Disneyland, go in the
- 35:44Disneyland app and assign it there.
- 35:46It'll be under magic bands on kind of like the main home
- 35:49screen and that is how you assign it there.
- 35:51It's really not that big a deal to reassign it.
- 35:54It's just it's one of those things, so.
- 35:56Well, and either way, it's still assigned just to you.
- 35:59But either way, when you log into those two apps, you use the
- 36:02same login, so it's the same e-mail and the same password.
- 36:05So it's still going to be linked to you as a person.
- 36:08You just have to reassign it to whichever ticket you're using
- 36:11for whichever book. Yes.
- 36:14Which is actually a little bit revolutionary because we don't
- 36:17often see things that work at Disney World that also work at
- 36:19Disneyland. Like that's not.
- 36:21There's not usually. They're like different
- 36:22operations, different ticketing systems, different everything.
- 36:25So the fact that they finally linked something together gives
- 36:28me some hope for the future. Maybe it'll bring the annual
- 36:30pass back that was for both parks.
- 36:33We can cross all of our fingers and all of our toes and hope
- 36:36that it will happen. Cuz I know of several people
- 36:38that are hoping that that will come back someday because they
- 36:41feel like they've had to choose between world or land.
- 36:44Because doing both is not always feasible.
- 36:46I mean doing one is barely feasible for a lot of people.
- 36:49Like it's a lot. I'm not to the point in my life
- 36:52where I can afford an annual past, yet I will slowly get
- 36:55there someday. I don't know if I can afford it,
- 36:58but I just need it because I can't afford not to have it
- 37:01right. It's so much more expensive to
- 37:02buy tickets, so that's where I I don't want to at this point
- 37:06because they don't sell them as often.
- 37:08I don't want to let go of it and then not be able to get it back.
- 37:11Right, right. You never know what happened in
- 37:13the world. Well, and once we saw, you know,
- 37:16like you said in 2020 when the world changed and we saw so many
- 37:20new changes that had to happen from not only Disney, but every
- 37:24company pretty much across the United States.
- 37:27You never know what could happen again and when those sales go
- 37:30away. So yeah, if you got it, hang on
- 37:31to it. Don't give it up.
- 37:33Yes, you might have a hard time getting it back.
- 37:36That's all. A few of my other kind of like
- 37:38top tips from this past year we did.
- 37:41I have a couple fur that are like specifically in the hotel
- 37:44room. One was called a drop zone.
- 37:46So if you're traveling with your family, designate a shelf, a
- 37:50desk, a box. Designate an area where
- 37:53everybody puts all of their stuff right when they walk in
- 37:56the door coming back from the parks so that they drop all
- 37:59their things in the same place. Because if you, I can't even
- 38:03tell you how many times I've had to like hunt around my kids room
- 38:06for their, you know, bag or ears or water bottle or stuff.
- 38:09Like anything like, it's just like if you don't kind of like
- 38:13make that contain space, it just goes everywhere.
- 38:15And then it the next day when you're trying to get out the
- 38:17door, it's almost impossible because everybody like I can't.
- 38:20And the same thing goes with their shoes, Put their shoes
- 38:22nearby so like he can find their shoes.
- 38:23The shoes go by the door. We've got the box in the drop
- 38:26zone and that has saved me so much time.
- 38:29Also, if you have like a stroller, you know, in your
- 38:32room, sometimes you can make your drop zone like the stroller
- 38:34around the stroller. That will help too.
- 38:35But drop zones really are so important.
- 38:38And I get that language for my kids, like, let's make our drop
- 38:41zone, put your stuff in the drop zone and I'm like, out there.
- 38:43They're like running. I'm like drops.
- 38:45Come back, come back. But yeah, it's it's really
- 38:50helpful to be able to just stay organized and get out the door
- 38:55quickly in the morning, which is so important at Disney because
- 38:57those morning hours are golden and you do not want to miss
- 39:00going to them. Other thing is for the in the
- 39:04hotel room, I did share this one that you can use your ironing
- 39:07board as kind of an extra table or space.
- 39:12Yeah. And I mean, I've used this, I
- 39:13travel a lot, obviously. So I use it for like a desk if I
- 39:17need to like, you know, use my laptop or something.
- 39:20But you can also, if you if you're going to eat on top of it
- 39:23all, make sure you put down some towels or something just to
- 39:25protect the ironing board to respect whoever's coming after
- 39:27you. Because we don't want to make
- 39:29the ironing board gross for someone, but you can even make
- 39:33it lower down and whatnot. So if your kids are sitting on
- 39:35the floor but you want them to have an elevated place to eat,
- 39:37like, there's, it's so versatile as an extra space in your hotel
- 39:40room. So use your ironing board.
- 39:46Another thing is, oh, just my other top tip is scheduling time
- 39:50for rest and breaks. Yeah, if you're not going to go
- 39:53back to the hotel, which we do kind of recommend, especially
- 39:55with smaller children. If you're not going to go back
- 39:57to the hotel, find a time in your day to at least put your
- 39:59feet up for a little while, get out of the heat.
- 40:01If it's summer and it's warm, make sure that you're taking
- 40:04that time to rest. Because going nonstop,
- 40:07especially at Disney, especially at Disney World, you're going to
- 40:10burn out and your vacation will feel like work rather than fun.
- 40:14So. Make sure you take time to just
- 40:17rest and plan those breaks out and and make it part of your
- 40:21routine for the day. I think it's important.
- 40:23Yeah, absolutely. I think so too.
- 40:25I hope says Carousel progress six times in a row.
- 40:29Yes, if you could, if you could. Or people mover, you know, maybe
- 40:31twice. If you ask the cast member
- 40:33really nicely, can I go twice? Yeah, I don't know that I could
- 40:36tolerate Carousel Progress that many times in a row.
- 40:40Yeah, that would be a lot. You could go from show to show
- 40:43though. You could go from there to Phil
- 40:44Hart Magic. You could plan like a couple
- 40:46shows in a row. That would help.
- 40:48Sometimes they just find a nice air conditioned spot to just
- 40:50just be for a little bit and just yeah, you know, it's
- 40:53harder. Think about your meals too.
- 40:56And we've talked about this countless times and episodes in
- 40:58the past that. Having an indoor air conditioned
- 41:02spot for meals can be so crucial to your success later on in the
- 41:07day. With your kids, with yourself,
- 41:09with all all people included, being able to eat inside where
- 41:15it's air conditioned. Get that break while you can.
- 41:19Everybody's saying you can tolerate carousel progress.
- 41:22If you're asleep, that's what you take a nap.
- 41:26I still have people doing what, Hall of Presidents.
- 41:27They do that as well. I don't.
- 41:29I don't nap because I'm afraid I won't wake up and I don't want
- 41:31to be that person for like the cast members who's like ma'am
- 41:35like. It would say friend, friend,
- 41:38it's time to go friend, Show's over, friend.
- 41:41I'd be like, so I don't. Yeah, but no, you're right.
- 41:45There's a lot of people that do that for American Adventure.
- 41:48I think an Epcot is another one where people will take a siesta,
- 41:51yeah? Anywhere that you have a seat
- 41:53and it's indoors and a theater, you run the risk of people
- 41:56taking naps. It just it's true.
- 41:58It is. It is what it is.
- 42:02It is what it is. So yeah, but scheduling that
- 42:05time, whether it be in the parks away from the parks and also
- 42:09giving yourself time to like if you've got kiddos that that need
- 42:12to truly nap and you're trying to plan for them to nap, give
- 42:15yourself enough travel time. So that way you can get back to
- 42:18your room for the time that you want them to lay down.
- 42:23You may or may not end up having them sleeping on you if you're
- 42:26taking a bus. So just all of those things,
- 42:30yes, all those things Yes. Keep in mind, depending on your
- 42:34situation and your children or yourself, if you are the one
- 42:37that needs the break because like Kate says, we all need
- 42:40breaks when it comes to doing the parks for multiple days in a
- 42:44row. That's so true and I would
- 42:46always say day three is one of the hardest days for your
- 42:50family, especially Disney World. Day three, it starts like hits.
- 42:54All the excitement is kind of trickled down a little bit and
- 42:58now the fatigue really sets in and a couple days of walking.
- 43:02I always say day three is one of the hardest.
- 43:03So if you can plan a rest day or a really light day or a day to
- 43:07sleep in on day three, that will really change your vacation for
- 43:11the better. That's what I recommend.
- 43:13Yes. Yeah, absolutely.
- 43:15Absolutely. All right.
- 43:16Did we hit all of your top tips? I know.
- 43:18I yes, I'm good. We have.
- 43:21We have plenty of other things to talk about, so I could go on
- 43:23for hours, but we'll move on. All good.
- 43:28So we wanted to just chat briefly about favorite events or
- 43:32favorite topics that we've covered in the last year.
- 43:35We've covered things from resorts.
- 43:38We've covered snacks we've covered.
- 43:40How to save money we've covered. We just did one day plans in the
- 43:44in the parks. We've done so many different
- 43:47topics. We've covered tons of events.
- 43:50We wanted to yeah resorts all sorts of.
- 43:53So we just wanted to kind of chat about some of our favorite
- 43:56topics that we have covered in the last year.
- 43:59Yeah, I think I thought it was funny because I will just say
- 44:05this is a little behind the scenes for those of you who want
- 44:08to see your actual creator life, is that Jackie and I work a lot
- 44:11on Google Docs. We just do.
- 44:13We're not sponsored by them, but we use them a lot.
- 44:16We're not sponsored yet, but so Jackie kind of did hers.
- 44:22First. Some of the answers to this just
- 44:23to kind of make sure that we had an outline for the show and she
- 44:26put down Epcot festivals and I was like, I liked that too.
- 44:30Those were some of my favorite ones.
- 44:32So it sounds like we have the same one for that.
- 44:35I feel like we did some really fun episodes where I was live in
- 44:39the parks and Jackie was basically like telling you all
- 44:42the information while I was walking in the chaos that is
- 44:46Epcot. It was so much fun and I always
- 44:49felt so bad because we were like, OK, we've got an hour
- 44:52before the fireworks because we knew that we wanted to make sure
- 44:55that Kate was done before, you know, the 9:00 PM fireworks in
- 44:59Epcot. So it's like, OK, we've got an
- 45:01hour, can we talk fast enough? And can Kate walk fast enough to
- 45:06get all the way around World Showcase within and the purpose?
- 45:10Yeah. And there were a couple of times
- 45:11where I was like, OK, and this and this and this and this and
- 45:14this and OK, I'm done. But we did it.
- 45:18We made it. We did, just barely.
- 45:19We did it multiple times and I was like, poor Kate, I got my
- 45:23steps in those days. So it was fun.
- 45:26It was fun to be able to bring kind of a unique episode because
- 45:30you don't see a lot of people who are doing kind of a helpful
- 45:32planning episode while so kind of like live in the park.
- 45:34So it was fun to do something unique that way, and I'm sure
- 45:37that we'll have more of those in the future as they are special
- 45:40events and and festivals and whatnot.
- 45:42But it was fun to be able to try some foods with and really focus
- 45:46on foods that maybe kids would be more interested in eating.
- 45:49It's fun. A lot of those creators will
- 45:51make content about food that is geared towards adults and like
- 45:54what adults really love to eat. And that is not necessarily what
- 45:57kids would want to eat at those festivals.
- 46:00Absolutely. Yeah.
- 46:01I mean, my kids are one of them's adventurous, but the
- 46:04other two are like, no, I'm not. That food's touching that food
- 46:07and that one's green. And we're not eating that.
- 46:09You know, so. There's this, there's like,
- 46:12flakes of something on top of my food.
- 46:14I don't sauce. I'm like the spicy, the spices
- 46:18or spicy. Yeah, so that's real life when I
- 46:21think. It was so fun because we did
- 46:22several episodes on the Epcot festivals and what, you know
- 46:26what Epcot has to offer different times of year, but we
- 46:29also did. A full episode on doing Epcot
- 46:32with your kids, because I feel like it's such a stigma of Epcot
- 46:39that people are like, oh, it's not a kid friendly park at all.
- 46:43And you and I were both like, we're gonna show you.
- 46:45Yeah, yeah. And it is super kid friendly.
- 46:48So I think that was fun, just to be able to bring that aspect.
- 46:52Of it, Like you said, you know, we see so many great things from
- 46:54the adult perspective about Epcot, and it is a great park
- 46:57for adults too. But being able to focus on, you
- 47:01know, all of the scavenger hunts that they have and all of the
- 47:04Kid Cot stations and the playgrounds and the performances
- 47:08and the food and all of that, that's all kidfriendly.
- 47:12I think was truly missing from the Epcot narrative.
- 47:16When you go to Google and look at Chip and Co or Disney Food
- 47:20Blog or any of those big Disney news that they're reporting, all
- 47:25of this information, they're not focused on the kids.
- 47:28That's where we come in. Yeah, exactly.
- 47:31It's family, family content. So and I will say we'll have to
- 47:35do something that updates a little bit of Epcot as they
- 47:39finish some of these things. Cuz I know Moana Journey of
- 47:42Water is coming out and I will post a video of it.
- 47:45For those of you who don't mind spoilers, you can go and watch
- 47:48that, but it's I will say I'm not going to give you any
- 47:52spoilers on it because I don't want to ruin it for anybody that
- 47:54wants to experience for the first time.
- 47:56But I will say I think that that is a very, is a very kid
- 47:59friendly exhibit. So that's gonna be a really
- 48:02great one for families as well. So yeah.
- 48:05I'm just excited for those walls to be.
- 48:07I know, just get rid of the walls.
- 48:09I want the ones down the center to discuss, yes.
- 48:12Well, and I so you inspired me. You were looking at those
- 48:15previous pictures of like your kids and stuff and I went back
- 48:18and was just looking at pictures from my previous.
- 48:21Trips and I found a box of old photos from my parents house
- 48:24that had photos of my senior year in high school.
- 48:27I did a Disney trip with the band that, you know, my high
- 48:30school marching band went. We did the whole like, parade in
- 48:32Magic Kingdom and that whole thing, which was super fun.
- 48:35But I found this photo of me sitting at the big fountain that
- 48:38used to be right in the middle of like, right, you know, the
- 48:42middle of literally everything right behind Spaceship Earth.
- 48:45And I was like, oh, I missed that area because it was just
- 48:47such a nice big open Plaza and it was so pretty.
- 48:51And I'm just excited for the international fountain in the
- 48:54middle to like bummed that that's gone.
- 48:57Yeah. So I'm just excited to see what
- 48:59they've done with it. I'm excited to see all of the
- 49:01additions I feel like I have. It's been so long since we heard
- 49:05about South, much of it at like D 23 two years ago that I'm
- 49:08like, I don't even remember what all they're doing and I'm not
- 49:10going to relook it up. I'm just going to let myself be
- 49:12surprised. I know they are building a new
- 49:15character a meet and greet home for.
- 49:19Mickey and Minnie, because they're moving them from their
- 49:22current location to a different location, I believe.
- 49:27And then we're getting Figment where Vanellope used to be in
- 49:31that space. I don't think Dream Finder was
- 49:33coming back too. Did you hear that?
- 49:34Rumor I haven't. But you know, who knows?
- 49:39It might just be a rumor. So I don't take it for, you
- 49:41know, but I've just heard. Rumble Well, because I think no
- 49:44one truly knows what version of Figment we're getting for this
- 49:48meet and greet yet. Do you know what I mean?
- 49:49We've seen several different over the years and you're, you
- 49:53know, Kate the historian can tell us more I'm sure if she
- 49:56knows it. But we've seen like the big like
- 50:00full size figment, but then we've also seen like little one
- 50:04the like handheld figment with like screenfinder like hanging
- 50:07on to yes. Yeah.
- 50:08So I think no one truly knows. From what I've seen, unless I
- 50:11missed it, what version of Figment we're getting other than
- 50:15the fact that like this past week they closed the Vanellope
- 50:18meet and greet and like put like big curtains up to start to re
- 50:23theme it. So yeah, so maybe.
- 50:25I mean, it makes sense then in that space that it could be
- 50:28Dream Finder and Figment. People miss Dream Finder a lot,
- 50:31so. I'm concerned about that space.
- 50:35Being able to handle potential crowds for that meet and greet.
- 50:39Yeah, that's fair. There's only like a little
- 50:41stanch. It's not, yeah.
- 50:42It's not a big area. So for those of you who maybe
- 50:46can't picture where we're talking about, it's literally
- 50:50the exit of the figment attraction.
- 50:53And then as you come towards the store, there are, there were two
- 50:57character meet and greets that existed in that space.
- 50:59There was one for Vanellope from Wreckit Ralph, and then there's
- 51:02one from Joy. Are one of joy from inside out,
- 51:05so the vanellope one is the one that has been closed off for
- 51:10what they're saying is the figment meet and greet, but it
- 51:13is not a very big space. So I'm concerned about where
- 51:17those cues are going to end up because anybody who's leaving
- 51:20the ride, like that's the perfect place to put him.
- 51:22If they don't put him there, I think it's kind of silly because
- 51:26like. He should be right there.
- 51:28So I'm just a little concerned and interested to see how that
- 51:32all pans out. Maybe they're betting on the
- 51:34fact that like, not that many people go on Figment.
- 51:37You know, like we got like the fans of Figment go on Figment
- 51:39and like the nostalgic people go on Figment.
- 51:42But some people like to a they even may not even know they're
- 51:44gonna ride in there and be like, people are like, what is this?
- 51:47I don't want to go on that. Like, if you're muted Disney,
- 51:49you might you might not know Figment.
- 51:50So, right. Maybe that's what they're
- 51:52betting on. I don't know.
- 51:53I don't know. I I can imagine they're being
- 51:56quite a good crowd that I know, like a popcorn bucket fiasco.
- 51:59That's what I'm saying. Like think about how many people
- 52:02showed up for that. Now of course, some of those
- 52:06were unfortunately resellers, but yes.
- 52:10A lot of those were just diehard Figment fans and people who were
- 52:13fans of that era of Epcot. And yeah, animate a good point,
- 52:18she said. Yeah, but if he comes back, the
- 52:20ride might get more popular. And you're absolutely right,
- 52:22because the other thing is, are they going to, how are they
- 52:25going to handle the fact that they're going to be people
- 52:27coming from two different directions to go into that queue
- 52:29for that meet and greet, people exiting the ride?
- 52:32And then possibly also people coming in through the exit of
- 52:35that gift shop to get in line? There's going to be some serious
- 52:39traffic flow adjustments in that area.
- 52:43The DVC Lounge as well has a line a lot of the time there, so
- 52:47it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.
- 52:49You know, who knows, Who knows? I'm interested to see and I'm
- 52:54excited to see Figment in the parks again because I feel like,
- 52:58you know, despite him being such a park specific character, I
- 53:02feel like he's such a fun character to have, you know, as
- 53:06a meet and greet and have around and yes, grace.
- 53:08It does sound a little chaotic, but you know.
- 53:12It'll it'll work out. They'll figure it out, I'm sure.
- 53:15Pigment first and then orange bird.
- 53:16We gotta get orange bird beat and greet, so.
- 53:19Did Orange Bird ever do like, appearances?
- 53:22Yeah, back back when they had the Orange Growers Association
- 53:26partnership when like the tiki room and whatnot was sponsored
- 53:30by that Orange gross Association.
- 53:32We have orange Bird and whatnot. So I.
- 53:34Would love to see Orange Bird. That would be so fun to see, you
- 53:39know, just to have those characters back.
- 53:41I feel like, you know, it's it's that little bit of history that
- 53:46can be current again that is fun for everyone to experience, even
- 53:50if they only brought it back for like the Flower and Garden
- 53:53festival or whatever. Yeah, like that would be perfect
- 53:55for for that meet and greet. Oh, for sure, For sure.
- 53:58Maybe someday. Can we get Duffy back?
- 54:01While we're at it, please? Duffy.
- 54:07That's what happened at Disney World too.
- 54:03Duffy was at Disneyland for a long time and like, not that
- 54:05popular. So like that's.
- 54:09But OK, total side note, I have to say, I was just reading that
- 54:12Disney like the the TV aspect of Disney, they're rebooting Mickey
- 54:17Mouse clubhouse again. And so they're doing like a
- 54:20whole thing. And Duffy the Disney bear is
- 54:22going to appear in episodes. And I the Scream.
- 54:26And it came out of my mouth when I read that.
- 54:28I was so excited. Oh my gosh, I didn't know you
- 54:31were such a like Duffy stamp. I love Duffy.
- 54:34I have so like I purchased a Duffy Okay this is total total
- 54:39side tangent. Apologies, but so I.
- 54:43So my now husband purchased a Duffy for me the year that I
- 54:47moved away. And so like my little Duffy bear
- 54:50went with me when I moved down to this side of Ohio, when the
- 54:53rest of my family and everyone was on the other side of Ohio.
- 54:56And it was very like parallel to the fact that in the origin of
- 55:00the Duffy the Disney bear, if you don't know it is a teddy
- 55:02bear that Minnie gets for Mickey that he can take with him on all
- 55:07of his worldly adventures to have like a little companion
- 55:11with him and so like. My husband, you know, my
- 55:14boyfriend now husband at the time, bought me one and it was
- 55:17just like, I just love him and I've met him several times when
- 55:20he used to do a character meet and greet in Epcot, my best
- 55:23friend who was a cast member, she and I both had Duffy Bears
- 55:26because she got one too, because she moved to Florida, you know,
- 55:29right around the same time. So it was like one of those
- 55:32things that we were just like our Duffy Bears and I have.
- 55:35Photos of her and I like hugging our Duffy bears in front of
- 55:38Spaceship Earth, like at Epcot. Like, yay, Because we used to
- 55:41take them with us in our bags to go meet Duffy with our Duffy's.
- 55:44So, OK, well, now I hope Duffy comes back just for you, nothing
- 55:47else. Because that's the most
- 55:49admipable story. Even if it's just a limited time
- 55:51run like you said, like I just want.
- 55:53I just want to be able to hug him again because I never did
- 55:56Duffy. He just like.
- 55:57Vanished. I didn't get.
- 56:00I didn't get a chance to say goodbye.
- 56:06He just like stopped meeting and I was like, well OK, I was just
- 56:11I remember walking by Duffy in DCA cuz it was at Disney's
- 56:15California Adventure, cuz it was like in back when it was still
- 56:18paradise Fear before it was Pixar Pier and they had this
- 56:21kind of like little circle veranda and then Duffy would
- 56:23always meet right there. My kids always ask, like who is
- 56:25that moms? They're like, I've never seen
- 56:27this anywhere and so putting it in some well known series, is it
- 56:32a good call for Disney? So long Long story short, I want
- 56:36Duffy back in Epcot. Even just if it's just in
- 56:40celebration of the premiere of the reboot, I will make a trip
- 56:45to see him. Yeah, let's let's get back on
- 56:48track just a little bit, OK? He talked about our favorite
- 56:51event and favorite topics we've covered.
- 56:53We said obviously the festivals. I also I'll just mention I
- 56:57really loved the State How to Save Money episode, which I
- 57:00talked about earlier and also our Disney resort series I feel
- 57:03like was really helpful. For those who are really
- 57:07undecided or don't know much about the resorts at all, I
- 57:09think it's a really helpful one to compare price ranges to
- 57:13amenities. You know, square footage almost,
- 57:17you know, like how how big versus how small you can fit
- 57:21pack and plays and not those kinds of decisions for your
- 57:25family. It's tough to decide which
- 57:27resort to go to. So yeah.
- 57:29And I'm I'm so glad that that it just exists on our page now,
- 57:33because I feel like that is one of the episodes that we, like
- 57:36refer people back to. Because we did so much research
- 57:41for all of that, looking up prices and we you looked up for
- 57:45all of the deluxe stuff, we looked up all the DVC stuff,
- 57:47like we looked up so much. But I have even used it because
- 57:50I've been starting to think about, you know, and I've talked
- 57:53about this a little bit, but I'm starting to think about like a
- 57:55year and a half probably from now.
- 57:56We'll look at going to Disneyland.
- 57:58And I literally the other day, they were like 02024 packages
- 58:01are available. And so I was like, well, let me
- 58:03like hop on and see. And I was like, wait, I don't
- 58:05want a Disneyland Resort because those are deluxe.
- 58:07Because Kate taught me that they're really when we did this.
- 58:10Yeah. So I like hopped on our doc
- 58:12because Kate, like Kate said, Kate and I do a lot on Google
- 58:15Docs and it all just exists and lives on our Google Drive
- 58:17because it's really good information.
- 58:20So I like, hopped on, it was like scrolling through our notes
- 58:22and I was like, ah, there we go. Those are the ones that I was
- 58:25looking for. So it gave me even like.
- 58:28Refreshing my own memory about like, what resorts are even
- 58:32there, I don't even remember. Yeah, and for those of you,
- 58:35well, we won't recap the whole series right now, but I will say
- 58:38that if you're going to Disneyland and you can't afford
- 58:41the three pretty expensive resorts that are on Disney
- 58:44property, there's lots of great ones that are off property and I
- 58:47usually recommend staying on Harbor Blvd. as close to the
- 58:50like. Middle center entrance date of
- 58:53Disneyland as possible is usually my recommendation for
- 58:56families. Also, the Hojo is also a solid
- 58:58bet. It's a little bit farther of a
- 59:00walk, but it's it's worth it for their like pool and area.
- 59:04They have like a water area. That's pretty amazing for kids.
- 59:06So yeah, absolutely. Grace says that she liked the
- 59:09Beating the Heat episode. She said it was the best and
- 59:11super helpful tips and hacks. Yeah, that was a good one too.
- 59:14So just, you know, lots of fun things that we've talked about
- 59:17and so many of these ideas have just come from the live stream
- 59:21chats. You just asking questions about
- 59:23like, hey, I need tips for this. What can you guys tell me?
- 59:27And we're like, we can tell you a whole episodes worth of
- 59:30information on that. We've got you covered.
- 59:33Yes, exactly, exactly. Oh, and I will just mention that
- 59:37all of these topics and all the previous things that we're
- 59:40talking about, as we mentioned before, do all exist in what I'm
- 59:42going to refer to as our archives now that we're a year
- 59:45in. I feel like that's accurate.
- 59:47We have archives now. Look at that.
- 59:49Look at us. Go us.
- 59:52So they do exist on our podcast and on our YouTube as well.
- 59:56The only episode that you unfortunately will not find
- 59:59there is our whole episode on Epcot Snacks, because for
- 1:00:02whatever reason, TikTok decided that they didn't want to let us
- 1:00:06download that episode after we did it.
- 1:00:09But you can find the information for all of our snack episodes
- 1:00:13also on our Instagram. So if you're like I need help
- 1:00:16with Epcot, you can find it there.
- 1:00:19Yeah, it's in our and our Instagram highlights.
- 1:00:21We have all of the best snacks for each park as well.
- 1:00:24And we also have some Speaking of our Instagram highlights, we
- 1:00:26have the the places where you can find free water in all of
- 1:00:30the Disney parks that are in the US So those are easy to save on
- 1:00:33your phone take with you parks. I actually reference them all
- 1:00:36the time when I'm like, I'm like, I can't remember which one
- 1:00:38is nearby, where I'm at at any given time because there's
- 1:00:41actually maps on them that will show you where to go.
- 1:00:43So I've kind of made them for myself a little bit, if I'm not
- 1:00:47gonna lie, And then I shared with all of you.
- 1:00:48So it was. Great.
- 1:00:50It was a joint project and it was much needed because I feel
- 1:00:53like I have also sent people that direction to be like if
- 1:00:57they're looking for water or they're asking, you know, and if
- 1:01:00our friends Kirk or Lam are live and they're asking about water
- 1:01:03places, it's like, oh, I know where you can find a map.
- 1:01:06I did that. I did a thing.
- 1:01:08We did it. We did it together.
- 1:01:11I'll just read a couple. There's comments on my side.
- 1:01:13Kristen says that her favorite was the wide planning one where
- 1:01:16we started six month out, three months out and 60 days out.
- 1:01:19That was a really early episode that we did, but we highlighted,
- 1:01:23you know, what to do in each kind of step of that planning
- 1:01:28process. And there is a guide available
- 1:01:30for that too. So if you would like access to
- 1:01:32that, just let us know and we can.
- 1:01:34Get you the link for that guide as well.
- 1:01:35It exists somewhere in our notes.
- 1:01:39It's around. We need to make it more
- 1:01:41accessible. We'll figure that out.
- 1:01:44We should put a link in our bio for that, I feel.
- 1:01:46There might be a link in our bio for that.
- 1:01:50I feel like that's something I probably did.
- 1:01:52And it probably still lives there.
- 1:01:53So it probably is. We're usually pretty organized.
- 1:01:55As soon as we can't forget how organized we forget how
- 1:01:58organized we were. Thank you, Blair, Blair says.
- 1:02:00It's on our link tree. Blair.
- 1:02:01MVP. Thank you.
- 1:02:03I appreciate that. And we did put it on discord.
- 1:02:05Yes, Kristen, you're right. And then we're so organized, we
- 1:02:07surprise ourselves by what we've already done.
- 1:02:11And then our friend Becca said that she loves the Mickey's Not
- 1:02:14So Scary Halloween Tips. Yeah, and we did that a whole
- 1:02:16year ago on Mickey's Not So Scary.
- 1:02:18So if you are someone that is getting ready.
- 1:02:20We go there. We did an episode last year on
- 1:02:24it and really not much has changed.
- 1:02:25So that information is still fairly accurate when it comes to
- 1:02:28that as well. Yeah, every once in a while
- 1:02:31those get a couple of new characters, but beyond that it's
- 1:02:33really or the food will slightly change, but most of the other
- 1:02:36information mostly the same. So so should we relive a few of
- 1:02:42our favorite moments on the street?
- 1:02:44Can we please do your first, I think we have to and we lived
- 1:02:51the Donald plant fiasco as I'm going to call it.
- 1:02:55Those of you who have maybe been around the Disney World for a
- 1:02:58little while or remember that there was a time in the Three
- 1:03:03Caballero's ride in Epcot in Mexico when you know, they have
- 1:03:07three audio animatronics of the Three Caballero's at the end.
- 1:03:10And one day Donald just like kind of disappeared and was
- 1:03:16replaced by a plant. Come on.
- 1:03:21And so he he was. This is the normal I'm already
- 1:03:29laughing cuz I can't. What is that?
- 1:03:35It's a plant with a giant sombrero on it is what we're
- 1:03:38looking at. So it's just like a fake plant
- 1:03:41that they stuck a sombrero on. And it does not look at all like
- 1:03:45Donald, like I mean and we just. Like who?
- 1:03:48Who decided this was OK? I will continue to ask who and
- 1:03:53we I think we talked about the fact that it was probably.
- 1:03:58A poor cast member that was told, hey we're taking the
- 1:04:01Donald animatronic out for refurb.
- 1:04:06Can you find a replacement? And he went, what do you want me
- 1:04:09to do? And they went, I don't know,
- 1:04:11figure it out, it's like, and he went and look, a plant.
- 1:04:15In the hat. Perfect.
- 1:04:17And then the Internet broke because it was hysterical.
- 1:04:23And we talked about this, gosh, what maybe two months ago on the
- 1:04:27end of an episode. It was like a random Q&A
- 1:04:29episode, and I don't even know how it got brought up, but we
- 1:04:32were talking about 3 Cabbieros and how we like that ride and we
- 1:04:36just segued into Plant. Donald and I have never laughed
- 1:04:40so hard on a Mom St. episode. As I did on that one, and it was
- 1:04:45ridiculous. It's absolutely.
- 1:04:47Ridiculous and hysterical and all of the above.
- 1:04:50It's great. Now that we have that memory and
- 1:04:53we have been working on a shirt, maybe even a sticker for you
- 1:04:57guys that has this never forget kind of theme of Donald's.
- 1:05:02It's so close to being done. We just have to kind of tweak it
- 1:05:05a little bit and then we'll get it out to you guys in case
- 1:05:08that's something you would like for your Next up caught journey,
- 1:05:11but. Coming soon to a
- 1:05:14disneycicero.com near you, which is also plug where you can find
- 1:05:19our mom St. Merch if you are interested in.
- 1:05:21We've got T-shirts and hoodies and stickers and all sorts of
- 1:05:24fun things. So and long sleeve shirts.
- 1:05:26We're heading into the fall. Yeah, I know we've got long
- 1:05:28sleeve shirts. So if you're sitting in the
- 1:05:29school pickup line, should I have never done before, but I'm
- 1:05:32going to be doing now again, Pray for me.
- 1:05:36I think great. I.
- 1:05:37Think I need my I need a long sleeve for for this fall.
- 1:05:40My next trip is in November, which like no guarantee that
- 1:05:43it'll be long sleeve weather because I went in October last
- 1:05:46year and it was supposed to be cool and I melted like I was on
- 1:05:49the surface of the sun. So no, you just never know with
- 1:05:53Florida. Florida's that way.
- 1:05:55Yes, but that moment was. It was great.
- 1:06:00That amazing. And I think one of my other
- 1:06:02favorite moments of Mom's Street from the last year is we did
- 1:06:04kind of an episode. I don't know if it's an episode.
- 1:06:07It was just a live where we did some crafting together and we
- 1:06:10made these really pretty like Mickey Reeves for Christmas.
- 1:06:13That light up and they were they're like fuzzy.
- 1:06:16I don't I should have gotten a picture I wasn't prepared but
- 1:06:19they're like fuzzy Mickey Reeves and they were really fun to
- 1:06:23craft together. Although we made like a huge
- 1:06:25mess with the fuzz everywhere. And then we did.
- 1:06:29We did turn it into a tutorial though on YouTube, So it's out
- 1:06:32there. Casey how to make it.
- 1:06:34But that was just fun to do some crafting and we also did some
- 1:06:37food together as well. We planned a lot in that episode
- 1:06:40that was. Yeah, our Christmas episodes
- 1:06:42were super fun. We did some trivia, we did some
- 1:06:44songs, we did some baking, we did all sorts of fun things, so
- 1:06:48it was good. Jackie, what were some of your
- 1:06:51favorite moments from us? So I don't know if I would
- 1:06:53consider this my favorite, but I just felt like I had to mention
- 1:06:56the fact that in all of our episodes we did about food and
- 1:07:01wine or flower and garden or all of these things where we
- 1:07:04mentioned food somehow. I was always the one attempting
- 1:07:08to pronounce these, yes. Foreign names of all of this
- 1:07:13food, I think I only did it once.
- 1:07:15I think it was always you that it fell on.
- 1:07:17For whatever reason, there was one point, and I think it was
- 1:07:21our DCA food and wine episode, that I was just like, you know
- 1:07:24what, I give up. Like I don't know.
- 1:07:28I. Can't.
- 1:07:29I can't. I can't.
- 1:07:30So that's just like, when I think back to some of the
- 1:07:33beginnings of Mom Street, I think back to all of the.
- 1:07:37Work and research we did for those resort episodes and then
- 1:07:40me attempting to use Google pronunciations to try and do my
- 1:07:46best to say the names of these foods that we're all.
- 1:07:49Amazing and wonderful. And I'm sure we're delicious.
- 1:07:52But I was like, I never want to see these again because I had
- 1:07:56nightmares over trying to pronounce them.
- 1:07:58I think one of the Brazilian ones is one of the ones I
- 1:08:00couldn't pronounce and I just gave up.
- 1:08:02I'm like, I don't, I took French, I don't, I don't like
- 1:08:05Spanish. I got nothing.
- 1:08:06I don't know. To pronounce that like noodle,
- 1:08:10German noodle dish that they just had for food in mind.
- 1:08:14It's like. So that I think, I'm pretty sure
- 1:08:20that's in our Food and wine. Like what's new for Food and
- 1:08:22Wine this year episode And that one just like lives rent free.
- 1:08:26In my head, whenever I think about pronouncing all of these,
- 1:08:30I'm just like, I can't. I can't.
- 1:08:32So I hereby give up on any future episodes where we're
- 1:08:37pronouncing food. I'm just gonna show.
- 1:08:41I'm just gonna show what it's called and go, this is what it's
- 1:08:43called. And then just move on with my
- 1:08:45life podcast. We'll have to spell it.
- 1:08:46We're gonna have to spell it so people can know.
- 1:08:50Get out your pencils, write down these letters, down, and you go
- 1:08:53ahead and try to. Oh, gosh, Kristen, no, Kristen
- 1:08:56said. We need a compilation of these
- 1:08:59pronunciations. Oh, that would be actually
- 1:09:01pretty hilarious. It's not gonna wash.
- 1:09:03It's a little like a bloopers reel there's there's.
- 1:09:08So I got nothing and I'm like, well, how did this happen?
- 1:09:11How did this happen? That Kate is over here being
- 1:09:13Vanna White, just showing the photos.
- 1:09:15And I'm over here sweating, trying to pronounce these.
- 1:09:18To be fair, you asked me to show the photos, so.
- 1:09:21I don't think I asked you. I think you volunteered very You
- 1:09:25were like, you have your iPad. I was like, OK, sure, I can do
- 1:09:27the photos no problem. Mistakes were made, OK?
- 1:09:32We just gotta tell. We gotta tell the accurate part
- 1:09:34of the story here. I know that's true.
- 1:09:36That's true. We are nothing if not truthful
- 1:09:39and accurate. So you know, you did a good job
- 1:09:42trying though I. Applaud you.
- 1:09:43I gave it. I gave it an A forever.
- 1:09:46I guess so, yeah. That's like one of my moments
- 1:09:50that I like, look back somewhat fondly but somewhat resentfully
- 1:09:54on. Well, I think it's funny, yes,
- 1:10:00if we can't laugh at ourselves. What do we That's so true?
- 1:10:03That is so true. We did have a few.
- 1:10:07So we've mentioned this Discord. Tonight we are.
- 1:10:09We do have a channel on our friend Kirk at Walrus Carp.
- 1:10:12His Discord for our Pocket Fam, which is just our community of
- 1:10:15friends that we have found on TikTok and we did ask for anyone
- 1:10:21that had. Favorite moments from Mom St.
- 1:10:24that they could recall. And several of you put stuff in
- 1:10:26the chat tonight, which we love reading.
- 1:10:27So if you've got a favorite moment that you want to throw in
- 1:10:30either side of our chat, we will be happy to read them.
- 1:10:32But our friend Rhonda said my absolute favorite Mom St.
- 1:10:35USA moment was when Jackie and Kate actually got to meet in
- 1:10:37person at Epcot in May. So that was a super fun moment
- 1:10:41that was not technically part of the show, but.
- 1:10:44No, we both. A lot of you got to see it
- 1:10:46though. Yes, yes.
- 1:10:47So Kate and I had not met prior to May 10th.
- 1:10:52I think it was of this year. So we had been doing our podcast
- 1:10:57from opposite ends of the. Country, I know, like Oregon and
- 1:11:03Ohio. We're in, yeah.
- 1:11:05And those of you who have been here with us for the last year,
- 1:11:07you know how much Kate and I are alike.
- 1:11:09And you were always, you know, saying that you thought we had
- 1:11:12been friends for years when? Truly we had.
- 1:11:14We've only known each other for a short amount of time, but it
- 1:11:18was super fun to be able to connect in person and get to
- 1:11:22meet up in Epcot with so many of our friends that were there.
- 1:11:25And you know, we so fun. We had so much fun hanging out
- 1:11:28in Epcot and then the next day we hung out for a little bit in
- 1:11:31Magic Kingdom. But we we look forward to
- 1:11:35hopefully future longer meetups. Unfortunately, our trips in
- 1:11:38November, we literally miss each other by like 2 days.
- 1:11:42Yep, ships passing in the night. It's fine.
- 1:11:44It's fine. We will.
- 1:11:45We'll be there again someday. But yes, we will figure it out
- 1:11:51again soon. So that was what Rhonda had
- 1:11:54thrown up on there on our Discord.
- 1:11:57So thank you Rhonda for your input.
- 1:11:58We appreciate. We appreciate you any more
- 1:12:03discord. That was the only one that I saw
- 1:12:06on the Discord. Oh, Kelly said.
- 1:12:10My favorite is when I received to be before my trip.
- 1:12:13So that happened on a Mom St. episode.
- 1:12:15That pocket fam gifted me my to be little crossbody bag and my
- 1:12:21little plushy, who then came with me to Disney on my last
- 1:12:25trip and took several vlogs of his own while we visited Disney.
- 1:12:29So that was a fun moment. I felt very, very loved and
- 1:12:33special with that one. That was great.
- 1:12:36We got to make Jackie cry. Always a good time.
- 1:12:41I feel like that's happened a couple times.
- 1:12:43We're just, you know, we, we are a part of such a wonderful,
- 1:12:47amazing, very generous community online.
- 1:12:51And so I feel like these are always happy tears.
- 1:12:54Yeah, that's like beautiful group of people that we get to
- 1:12:57interact with. And I feel very grateful for
- 1:13:00that because I will say that there are Disney, Disney
- 1:13:03communities out there that are not necessarily wonderful places
- 1:13:08to be, but ours is such a great, great group of people that
- 1:13:11really just care about each other and love Disney.
- 1:13:14Love the Disney nerds, my people.
- 1:13:16Yeah. My people, Christina says.
- 1:13:21I think anytime we can all have chat nights is such a good time
- 1:13:24on Mom Street. I agree.
- 1:13:25So we do these podcast episodes for Mom St. about twice a month,
- 1:13:30but we also have some. We go live on TikTok with me and
- 1:13:34Jackie. We do a little combined chat and
- 1:13:36then we all get to chat together with you guys and just answer.
- 1:13:39We answer questions, but we also just kind of free chat about
- 1:13:41Disney and life and whatnot. And it is really fun to just
- 1:13:45hang out with you guys that way. That's something that we really
- 1:13:47enjoy, and that's why we decided that some weeks we will do
- 1:13:50podcasts, some weeks we're just going to do chats.
- 1:13:53And we try to also make it. Honestly, those chat episodes
- 1:13:55are really great for us too, as busy moms, because we've got a
- 1:13:58lot going on in our lives, so sometimes we don't have time to
- 1:14:01necessarily prep for an episode, but we still want to connect
- 1:14:03with you guys and hang out. So yeah, they're really helpful
- 1:14:06for us as well. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:14:08And I feel like too it. A lot of those chat episodes is
- 1:14:11where we will get. Some of the content that we want
- 1:14:16to then expand on for you guys for future episodes or content
- 1:14:20that we then take and post still on our TikTok channel or on our
- 1:14:23You Tube. Because there's so much good
- 1:14:25content that happens in those chats.
- 1:14:26And there's a lot of fun and a lot of, like Kate said, we talk
- 1:14:29about life and we talked about talk about, you know, all sorts
- 1:14:31of other things. But I feel like there's still so
- 1:14:33much good content there that we love being able to share that
- 1:14:36with you guys too and just. Answer open-ended questions.
- 1:14:40That's better about Disney things or questions you can't
- 1:14:44find answers to or want advice with.
- 1:14:46So that is fun with those chat episodes and just very low key
- 1:14:51and we get to connect with you guys and get to know each other
- 1:14:53better, which is fun. Yes, absolutely.
- 1:14:57All right, let's get a little deep here for a moment.
- 1:15:01What we Kate and I, have learned and maybe you guys can chime in
- 1:15:05in the chat as well. But what we've learned from Mom
- 1:15:08St. in the last year, yeah, this was a really interesting one for
- 1:15:13me to think about because it's been the last year has been
- 1:15:17absolutely crazy for me with the way that, you know, Dizzy
- 1:15:19Cicerone has grown and life changes for me personally.
- 1:15:24And I really learned about how our community really is Better
- 1:15:29Together. You know, Jackie and I know a
- 1:15:32lot about the parks and you know, I go pretty often.
- 1:15:35Jackie goes when she can, but we don't, We don't know everything.
- 1:15:38And having all of us together, you know, it's like it takes a
- 1:15:42village, right? It takes a village to raise a
- 1:15:43child. It takes a village to plan A to
- 1:15:45see vacation, I think is an accurate thing to say.
- 1:15:49And so having that Mom St. community involved has also like
- 1:15:52taken a lot of pressure off of us from like we have to know
- 1:15:56every single thing about this topic.
- 1:15:59We we do research as well as we possibly can and draw from our
- 1:16:03own experience and whatnot. But we know that there's going
- 1:16:06to be stuff that comes up that we don't know how to answer.
- 1:16:09And we inevitably, there's always somebody in in our chat
- 1:16:13or whatnot or in our Mom St. community that knows the answer
- 1:16:16to something. And that has been so helpful as
- 1:16:19a resource. But a little personal note, I'll
- 1:16:21just say as a community, this has been so valuable to me as a
- 1:16:25human this past year. I'm not going to cry, but I
- 1:16:33found some really, really close friends that are really mean so
- 1:16:38much to me, especially because of some stuff I went through in
- 1:16:40my own life where I didn't. I've lost, lost some some people
- 1:16:45in my life in the past, a little over a year.
- 1:16:47So to have y'all be here and be people that can help me plan
- 1:16:53outfits and chat about Disney and chat about life and hear
- 1:16:56about some of the stuff that's happened with my family and
- 1:16:58sympathize and me at the same way and and you know, encourage
- 1:17:02you when you're feeling down. And I'm just so grateful for
- 1:17:07this community. So that's what it's meant to me
- 1:17:10in the past year. I love that, and you're getting
- 1:17:13all of the love on my side of the chat to everyone is putting
- 1:17:16heart bogies and all of the above.
- 1:17:18So OK, like, deep breath. So kind of piggybacking along
- 1:17:26that I mean, Mom St. doesn't exist without our community, but
- 1:17:30I feel like for myself, because I was so new in the content
- 1:17:36creator space and the public eye, so to speak, of the Disney
- 1:17:42community. And I'm still, you know, I'm
- 1:17:44this little itty bitty thing when it comes to all of that.
- 1:17:47But I feel like I learned. A lot about myself and I had a
- 1:17:52lot of personal growth that I feel like happened because I was
- 1:17:56in a very comfortable space with all of that.
- 1:18:01Prior to MOM, St. USAI was in a very comfortable
- 1:18:05space at where I fit in inside the community and just kind of
- 1:18:09being a member of the community and helping, you know, helping
- 1:18:13out with different things and stuff like that, but.
- 1:18:16Jumping into Mom St. was something I never imagined I
- 1:18:19would ever do. But as soon as I know, he really
- 1:18:23stepped in the spotlight. As as soon as the the the idea
- 1:18:29arose, I was like what the hey, sure, let's like let's do it and
- 1:18:34we'll see what happens. And you know, so I was super
- 1:18:38nervous and I I can hear it going back to listen to her old
- 1:18:43episodes. I was super nervous and just not
- 1:18:46comfortable and just I fumbled a lot and now I feel like I'm, you
- 1:18:52know, a step at a time. I'm getting much better and I'm
- 1:18:54much more comfortable and I'm more comfortable just being in
- 1:18:58this space and existing in the space.
- 1:19:02I have worked with Space, Kate and I both have, along with
- 1:19:07everything else that we have going on.
- 1:19:09You know, I was nervous. I wouldn't know the answers to
- 1:19:11questions or that I wouldn't know what to say or that I we'd
- 1:19:15have all this like dead air and I'd be like panicking inside my
- 1:19:18head, like what do I do? You know, all of those those
- 1:19:23types of things. And I just feel like I I really
- 1:19:26learned again in a in a new way how to to be brave and how to
- 1:19:32tackle things that were not comfortable and how to also then
- 1:19:37surround myself with people. That were there to support me
- 1:19:41with it from you know members of our community like you mentioned
- 1:19:45that are there to support and encourage because that's
- 1:19:50literally what we get from every member of this community is just
- 1:19:54encouragement and support and love and I've just also.
- 1:19:59Just learned that this community will show up regardless and will
- 1:20:03always be here for us, which I just think is huge.
- 1:20:05And I'm so excited to see what this next year brings and where
- 1:20:11we end up a year from now. And I feel like forever and
- 1:20:14ever, as long as Mom St. exists, we will do these year recap
- 1:20:18episodes because they're just. Yes, it's just like.
- 1:20:22The warm and fuzzy, you know? And it's funny and it's just
- 1:20:25brings me so much joy. I like opening up the photo
- 1:20:29album and looking through it and just reminiscing and such
- 1:20:34wonderful moments that we've had together.
- 1:20:36But I think it's you really touched on something that we're
- 1:20:41just real people. We're moms.
- 1:20:43We're we happen to be wives. We're we're not with each other
- 1:20:46but with our to clarify and we are we are balancing all of our
- 1:20:54work and mom life and cooking dinner and like all those things
- 1:20:58like we're doing all those things just like you guys are.
- 1:21:00We're just really just real people.
- 1:21:03But the reality is that you guys give us so much grace in this
- 1:21:06space and have given us so much support that even when it's hard
- 1:21:10to do what we're doing, you're still like cheering us on.
- 1:21:13And I think I feel like for me that really like keeps me going
- 1:21:16is knowing that there's going to be people that show up when we
- 1:21:20do because they're excited to to chat with us and see us and and
- 1:21:23we're excited to see them. And it's like we get to hang out
- 1:21:26with each other. That to me is like even if I'm
- 1:21:29not perfect or I haven't figured everything out for the week, I
- 1:21:32know if I show up, that's the hardest step and then it's great
- 1:21:36after that. Does that make sense, you know?
- 1:21:38Like hitting. Again, like behind the scenes,
- 1:21:41hitting that button to start the live is like the worst part.
- 1:21:44It is because you're just like scary red button.
- 1:21:47OK, OK. And it's like, you take a couple
- 1:21:50of breaths and it's like, OK, here we go.
- 1:21:52And then once people start popping in, it's like, all my
- 1:21:54friends are here. Yay.
- 1:21:57And we never doubt it. We know you guys are gonna be
- 1:21:59here regardless of everything that's going on.
- 1:22:01And we so appreciate that. I don't think we can say enough
- 1:22:05how much we appreciate. All of the support and I know
- 1:22:08there are a ton of you who have been here with us since episode
- 1:22:12one. There are also so many of you
- 1:22:14who we have found along the way, who are now part of our
- 1:22:16community, that we are just so grateful for every single one of
- 1:22:18you and we just just can't say it enough.
- 1:22:22Yeah, 100%, I agree. OK, let.
- 1:22:29OK, last thing on our list. Last thing on our list is
- 1:22:32something new, you guys. Something new to celebrate.
- 1:22:36Moving forward into our second year of Mom St.
- 1:22:40USA, and this idea kind of came from our chat with our good
- 1:22:46friend Mark Valentine, who is kind of the mastermind behind
- 1:22:50our partnership with Chip and Co does life Mark.
- 1:22:53So starting in future episodes, but we're going to have a new
- 1:22:59segment that we're going to use to kind of wrap up.
- 1:23:01Every episode going forward and the segment is just gonna be
- 1:23:06simple. Ask the moms, ask the moms.
- 1:23:10So that will be essentially questions that you guys ask.
- 1:23:15All right, either on our Discord or you can just e-mail us at
- 1:23:18momstreetusa@gmail.com. If with any questions you have
- 1:23:24about your Disney trip, traveling with your family,
- 1:23:26going to Disneyland or Disney World.
- 1:23:29Anything that revolves around Disney planning would be happy
- 1:23:32to answer for you in this new segment called Ask the Moms.
- 1:23:36So this will be a fun. So and it'll just be, you know,
- 1:23:39we still do QA episodes and those types of things as well.
- 1:23:42But this will just be kind of a quick one or two question.
- 1:23:46End segment to our episodes where if you've got a time
- 1:23:51restraint question that like you're getting ready to leave on
- 1:23:55your trip in three days and you can't find the answer to
- 1:23:58something, that's what we're here for in those moments, cuz
- 1:24:01we don't get to Q&A's as often as we would like.
- 1:24:04We do our best to answer questions throughout all of our
- 1:24:06lives. But if we're doing podcasting,
- 1:24:09it's tricky to kind of get back and answer everything.
- 1:24:12So we're hoping this will be a good way for you guys to feel
- 1:24:15like you have that space to ask those questions.
- 1:24:18Yes, So very excited for that music.
- 1:24:20Now we'll also have, you know, every episode we'll have some
- 1:24:23tips that are unrelated necessarily to that topic.
- 1:24:26Just what you guys wanted here, yeah?
- 1:24:29Yeah, absolutely. So let's talk about moving
- 1:24:32forward what we've kind of got going on.
- 1:24:35Kate leaves. In like days?
- 1:24:37Yeah, for her trip. Four days.
- 1:24:41I don't know Monday. So exciting.
- 1:24:43So Kate is off to Europe and a Disney cruise and Disneyland
- 1:24:48Paris and all sorts of other fun places in between and all
- 1:24:51around. So she is gone for the next
- 1:24:54several weeks. So you're stuck with me, You get
- 1:24:58to hang out with Jackie, and then I'll be back in October is
- 1:25:03when I'll be back from on street.
- 1:25:05Yes. Then in September I'll be
- 1:25:08touching a couple different topics and you might see some
- 1:25:11special guests that joined me on some episodes.
- 1:25:15So we'll we'll kind of go from there and see who we may find
- 1:25:19and who may find their way on to Mom St.
- 1:25:23USA probably some familiar faces for those of you who have been
- 1:25:26around. And then, yeah, once Kate gets
- 1:25:28back, we will I'm sure, do some episodes on Disneyland Paris.
- 1:25:33Along with, you know, we'll just continue on our little list of
- 1:25:37topics that if you've got topic suggestions, if you've got
- 1:25:44things you'd love to hear us talk about.
- 1:25:45We do have a short list that we're still working working off
- 1:25:49of, but we always are looking to add to that list.
- 1:25:53So you can reach out to us in any of the ways we've mentioned
- 1:25:55in this episode, Discord, Instagram, e-mail, all of the
- 1:25:59above, send us a message and we will be happy to either if it's
- 1:26:03a quick answer, we can just answer you via message or if
- 1:26:06it's something that we can do a full episode on, we will add
- 1:26:08that to our list. So September's going to be a
- 1:26:11little bit of a different month and you will hear some different
- 1:26:15things from Mom Street, but then starting back in October, we'll
- 1:26:18be back on hopefully a more normal.
- 1:26:21Schedule. We'll see.
- 1:26:22Yeah, we'll settle into the fall like we all do, right?
- 1:26:25All the schedules kind of settle in and you figure out your new
- 1:26:28life cuz it changes every year as a mom.
- 1:26:32So true. So, so, so true.
- 1:26:34And yes, Blair, we have been doing a ton of Disneyland Paris
- 1:26:38research. So I have been helping Kate plan
- 1:26:42her trip to Disneyland Paris very well.
- 1:26:45So we are. I'm excited to see if the
- 1:26:48itineraries that I came up with work the way that we hope they
- 1:26:51do. So I'm.
- 1:26:53Hopeful. I am also hopeful too.
- 1:26:56So it's a completely different world.
- 1:26:59And I, Kate and I were just texting about this this week.
- 1:27:01It's a completely different world when you're planning for a
- 1:27:03park that you've never been to before.
- 1:27:06Even looking at, you know me, planning for Disneyland even
- 1:27:09though I've never been there is even easier than actually
- 1:27:11thinking about planning for Disneyland Paris.
- 1:27:13So I did tons of reading and watching and researching and all
- 1:27:17of that. So we will report back once Kate
- 1:27:19has experienced it all and she can give us the behind the
- 1:27:23scenes look at what actually worked and what didn't work and
- 1:27:29what we missed and. All of the above, yeah.
- 1:27:32I've never been there with children before.
- 1:27:34When I was there, it was the. So my husband and I lived in
- 1:27:37Europe. We didn't have any money though,
- 1:27:39because we were, he was in college and I was unemployed
- 1:27:41because I couldn't work in Ireland.
- 1:27:42So we did a lot of like shoestring traveling, so, but we
- 1:27:46did go to Disney. We went to Paris around
- 1:27:48Christmas time and then we went Disneyland Paris at Christmas.
- 1:27:51And I just remember that making it snow on Main Street was like
- 1:27:54so magical with the Christmas parade and stuff.
- 1:27:56Those are kind of my vivid memories from that.
- 1:27:58It was cold, it snowed one of the days we were there, but it
- 1:28:02was really quite a magical place.
- 1:28:04But they hadn't built their second park yet.
- 1:28:05That's how early that was in its timeline.
- 1:28:08So now they have their second Walt Disney Studios park.
- 1:28:12So I've never been there. So I'm very excited to see that.
- 1:28:15And I do remember their like Disney kind of village area, and
- 1:28:19I've done a lot of Disney history research about it.
- 1:28:21So we should be able to share a lot of really fun facts about
- 1:28:24the park that almost didn't make it cuz they almost went
- 1:28:28bankrupt. So, but the most beautiful
- 1:28:30Disney park is what they call it so very.
- 1:28:32Excited to see it there. Said their castle is very
- 1:28:34pretty. I agree.
- 1:28:35Their castle is very pretty. So that's what Michael Eisner
- 1:28:38wanted. He said, I he's like, we've got
- 1:28:41all these parks that have all these different things.
- 1:28:42He's like, you know, like Disney World was like the biggest park
- 1:28:45at Disneyland was the original. He's like, I'm going to make the
- 1:28:47first one that's outside of the US and I'm going to make it the
- 1:28:50most beautiful Disney park. So he got a lot of artisans that
- 1:28:55they hired. They were outside of Wed,
- 1:28:56outside of Imagineering, and they hired people in Europe and
- 1:29:00famous architects and whatnot to just make it like the most
- 1:29:03gorgeous park they possibly could.
- 1:29:05It's also partially why it almost went bankrupt, because
- 1:29:07they really overspent on a lot of it.
- 1:29:08But it is beautiful. It's a beautiful, beautiful
- 1:29:11park. And it sort of worked out OK.
- 1:29:14In the end, it did. It changed it to Disneyland
- 1:29:17Paris. They adapted to the culture.
- 1:29:20They made a lot of changes to make it work.
- 1:29:22And now it's it's a it's a pretty lovely park.
- 1:29:24I think they're still recovering Walt Disney Studios park, but
- 1:29:27they're getting there. Is it Paris or all of France is
- 1:29:30prepping to host the Olympics in a couple years?
- 1:29:33So yeah, so I know that they're preparing a lot for that.
- 1:29:36They have some new areas opening up and new lands and things that
- 1:29:39they're in the works with. So we'll see what's to come.
- 1:29:42And now that we'll have a base of it, we can like actually
- 1:29:45cover some Disneyland Paris stuff.
- 1:29:47Yeah, I know. Isn't that exciting?
- 1:29:49That's Disney Cruise Lines. So we have more things, and
- 1:29:53eventually I'll get to Tokyo and all those other places too.
- 1:29:56One of these days we'll get there.
- 1:29:57So yeah, exactly. And I will also just mention
- 1:30:00that we, you guys may have heard us talking about.
- 1:30:02We do have several giveaways that we're going to be doing for
- 1:30:04our year anniversary, but we will be doing those.
- 1:30:08Right. When Kate comes back, just so we
- 1:30:10didn't have to rush and try to squeeze them in before she left
- 1:30:13on her trip. So those are still coming.
- 1:30:16We've got at least four sets of ears to give away.
- 1:30:19I think some of those will probably be subscriber gifts and
- 1:30:22some will be gifts that everybody is eligible to win.
- 1:30:24So stay tuned for that. That will be coming probably
- 1:30:27about three or four weeks from now.
- 1:30:29So I know it's a little ways away, but just wanted to throw
- 1:30:32that out there because I know you guys heard us talking about
- 1:30:34that previously. Yeah, I'm really excited for the
- 1:30:37giveaways. They're always really fun to get
- 1:30:39to. Just kind of give back to our
- 1:30:40community, so it'll be fun. Yeah, always fun.
- 1:30:43So yeah, I think that's it. I think we did it.
- 1:30:48We made it. We did it.
- 1:30:50One year, One year Bomb St. All right, this is so much fun
- 1:30:57to be with you guys. To celebrate this milestone of
- 1:31:01our one year anniversary of Mom St.
- 1:31:03USA and doing this podcast. We really appreciate you guys
- 1:31:06hanging out with us, celebrating with us and and being here for
- 1:31:11our very first ever podcast episode for our partnership with
- 1:31:15the Chip and Co podcast network. So very excited for that as
- 1:31:20well. Any final thoughts, Jackie,
- 1:31:22before we wrap up? I'm just so.
- 1:31:26Happy and grateful and and looking forward to see what we
- 1:31:31can do in the next year and where we are a year from now.
- 1:31:36And just, yeah, I think that's it.
- 1:31:41Yeah, just grateful. Grateful, I think is my word for
- 1:31:43the day. So thank you everybody for being
- 1:31:45with us tonight as we are hanging out, and we'll see you
- 1:31:48next time on Mom St. USA Bye everyone.
- 1:31:52Bye.
