- 0:00Hello friends. Welcome back to Wonderfully Made,
- 0:04Bible Stories for Children. I'm so glad you're
- 0:08here. Last time, we heard about Gehazi. He made
- 0:14a secret plan, told a lie, and learned that nothing
- 0:18can be hidden from God. Today, we will hear a
- 0:22very different story. No kings. No armies. No
- 0:29great crowds. Just a group of men building a
- 0:33place to live and learn. But when something valuable
- 0:37is lost, it seems impossible to get back. And
- 0:41God will remind us that he cares about even the
- 0:44small troubles in our lives. Are you ready? Let's
- 0:50jump in. The group of prophets who learned from
- 1:07Elisha had grown. Their meeting place was becoming
- 1:10too small. So they decided to build a larger
- 1:14place. They asked Elisha if they could go to
- 1:18the Jordan River, cut down trees, and use the
- 1:22wood to build. Elisha agreed. And when they asked
- 1:27him to come with them, he went. Together, They
- 1:31began their work by the Jordan River. The men
- 1:35worked hard. Trees were cut down. Wood was gathered.
- 1:40The new building was beginning to take shape.
- 1:44Then something unexpected happened. As one man
- 1:48swung his axe, the iron axe head flew off the
- 1:52handle. It fell into the Jordan River. The man
- 1:56was distressed. The axe did not belong to him.
- 2:01He had borrowed it. Now it was gone. The man
- 2:06cried out to Elisha. He explained what had happened.
- 2:11Losing the axe head was not a small matter. Tools
- 2:16were valuable. And because it had been borrowed,
- 2:19he felt responsible for it. The problem seemed
- 2:23impossible to fix. The axe head had sunk beneath
- 2:28the water. Elisha asked where the axe head had
- 2:31fallen. When the place was shown to him, he cut
- 2:35a stick and threw it into the water. Then something
- 2:40surprising happened. The iron axe head floated
- 2:44to the surface. Elisha told the man to take it.
- 2:48The man reached out and picked it up. God had
- 2:52provided a solution. Let's think about this story
- 3:03together. Why was the man so worried when the
- 3:09axe head fell into the river? What did he do
- 3:15when he had a problem he could not solve? Do
- 3:22you think God only cares about big problems?
- 3:29What does this story teach us about God's care
- 3:32for his people? Sometimes we think our problems
- 3:39are too small to matter. But God cares about
- 3:42every part of our lives. Nothing is too big for
- 3:47him. And nothing is too small for him either.
- 3:52Thanks for joining me today. Next time on Wonderfully
- 3:57Made. An enemy army will surround a city. A servant
- 4:02will be afraid. And Elisha will show him something
- 4:06that had been there all along but he could not
- 4:09see it. We'll find out next time. Until then,
- 4:14remember, you are wonderfully made. Bye for now.
