  place to live and learn. But when something valuable

  Elisha had grown. Their meeting place was becoming

  too small. So they decided to build a larger

  place. They asked Elisha if they could go to

  the Jordan River, cut down trees, and use the

  wood to build. Elisha agreed. And when they asked

  him to come with them, he went. Together, They

  began their work by the Jordan River. The men

  worked hard. Trees were cut down. Wood was gathered.

  The new building was beginning to take shape.

  Then something unexpected happened. As one man

  swung his axe, the iron axe head flew off the

  handle. It fell into the Jordan River. The man

  was distressed. The axe did not belong to him.

  He had borrowed it. Now it was gone. The man

  cried out to Elisha. He explained what had happened.

  Losing the axe head was not a small matter. Tools

  were valuable. And because it had been borrowed,

  he felt responsible for it. The problem seemed

  impossible to fix. The axe head had sunk beneath

  the water. Elisha asked where the axe head had

  fallen. When the place was shown to him, he cut

  a stick and threw it into the water. Then something

  surprising happened. The iron axe head floated

  to the surface. Elisha told the man to take it.
