- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Na's A Chope.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome back to another edition of Hawk Talk. I'm Nasa Chobe.
- 0:14Speaker 1: He's Michael Bumpus. Back for another year. Bump, I feel
- 0:18Speaker 1: like this is year six.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Now maybe I don't know. Man, it's blending in. It's
- 0:21Speaker 2: been a lot. It's blending in so much that we're
- 0:24Speaker 2: on video again. We're not doing on a little cart
- 0:26Speaker 2: we used to doing on.
- 0:27Speaker 3: You know, you've done some things to this studio. Man,
- 0:30Speaker 3: it's uh, it's it's uh. It looks professional in here.
- 0:32Speaker 2: No, I'm trying. I'm trying.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's been a whole it's been a whole thing, Sea
- 0:35Speaker 1: level production. Shout out everyone working hard, back their life
- 0:37Speaker 1: on the ones that two's back. They're helping us out.
- 0:39Speaker 1: But no, Bump, we're excited that we're back. If we're back,
- 0:41Speaker 1: that means we're talking about Seahawks football. It's another year.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Twenty twenty five is here.
- 0:45Speaker 4: And those dreaded forty nine ers.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Starting out right off the bat. I kind of like that, though.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I love it. Let's throw hands early. I love it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Let's see what they made up. Hey, you want to
- 0:52Speaker 2: see what you're made up. Let's do it. Let's get it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And it's exactly right.
- 0:55Speaker 1: And it's been a really cool camp watching these guys
- 0:57Speaker 1: work and Mike we Donald there year two, completely new
- 1:02Speaker 1: offensive staff. You got Klint Kobiak, offensive coordinator, Rick Dennison,
- 1:05Speaker 1: John Benton, Andrew Yanko. So you got a lot of
- 1:08Speaker 1: different guys out there in the coaching staff and this
- 1:10Speaker 1: team obviously complete new look. We haven't talked about it
- 1:12Speaker 1: on this podcast yet. Obviously, Sam Darnold, Cooper Cup, there's
- 1:15Speaker 1: a bunch of new names.
- 1:16Speaker 2: But Bob, I'm just gonna jump right into the roster.
- 1:18Speaker 1: You saw it the fifty three came out, obviously getting
- 1:20Speaker 1: ready to play the fort Niters this weekend. What were
- 1:22Speaker 1: your initial thoughts when you look at this fifty three
- 1:24Speaker 1: man roster.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I like it.
- 1:26Speaker 3: We know who cour QB one is gonna be right,
- 1:28Speaker 3: that's Sam Donald all day. You got Drew Lock and Millroll.
- 1:30Speaker 3: The running back situation was fun to watch too. Ken
- 1:32Speaker 3: Walker didn't play a lot or at all during this preseason,
- 1:35Speaker 3: so you got to see George Hallandi do a thing
- 1:37Speaker 3: and you have a full back. The Seahawks have a
- 1:40Speaker 3: designated fullback oots out of Alabama's gonna do a thing.
- 1:43Speaker 3: And then Russell as well receiver corps. I'm so happy
- 1:46Speaker 3: for Cody white Man. I'm glad he made this squad.
- 1:48Speaker 3: He's been bouncing around the NFL for a while. Activated
- 1:50Speaker 3: and practice squad with the Seahawks. That's good there. And
- 1:52Speaker 3: then you got Horton tight Ends. Sawbert Is as a sleeper.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I know we were gonna look at aj Barner Elijah,
- 2:00Speaker 3: I get that, but Sobert is a sleeper. Big of
- 2:02Speaker 3: a color up. I gotta get you saying this name
- 2:04Speaker 3: color Okay said it right. Offensive line Abe just got
- 2:06Speaker 3: his deal today, three years over forty million dollars.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Need to lock that down.
- 2:10Speaker 3: And then you draft Gray's Abel, so hopefully that old
- 2:13Speaker 3: line looks good. Defensive line, sam OG's over there and
- 2:16Speaker 3: got Leo Reed. DeMarcus comes over from the Dallas Cowboys.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Murphy's expected to make a big jump there. And of
- 2:21Speaker 3: course Mike Morris in the linebacker position Uchenna. We're waiting
- 2:24Speaker 3: to see what his health is like. He's been battling
- 2:26Speaker 3: through boy in ma Fay's back. Derek Carr. Ernest Jones
- 2:29Speaker 3: spoke to him today. He seems locked in Tyree's Knight
- 2:32Speaker 3: and a bunch of other cats too.
- 2:33Speaker 2: In the corners. I really like this group too, man.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I think Witherspoon is due for a big year, right,
- 2:39Speaker 3: only a couple of interceptions in his career.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Is the one or two in his career interceptions? I
- 2:43Speaker 2: think it's just one.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I think it's one, right, guaranteed three this year.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Week.
- 2:47Speaker 3: William's going to have a bounce back year, if you
- 2:49Speaker 3: want to call it that. Josh Jovini and my Pritchett
- 2:51Speaker 3: loved that. In the safety group highlighted by Jay Love,
- 2:55Speaker 3: Kobe Bryant fan favorite, but Nicki moware, you're try picking
- 2:58Speaker 3: the second round. You're looking forward to see and Tyo
- 3:00Speaker 3: Cotta big us Montana State man. He made the squad
- 3:03Speaker 3: beautiful one hand interception against the Green Bay Packers. That's
- 3:06Speaker 3: what's up. And then you know the specialists. These guys
- 3:08Speaker 3: never changed, got Myers Dixon stall. I like this group.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I'm feeling good about it.
- 3:13Speaker 1: No, and you went through all that list. There's so
- 3:14Speaker 1: many good things we were gonna talk a lot about
- 3:16Speaker 1: this season. About this defense. I'm gonna call right a
- 3:18Speaker 1: spade of spade. I think this is a top five defense.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I feel you, Mike McDonald in his second year. You
- 3:22Speaker 1: mentioned there's playmakers at every level of this defense, not
- 3:25Speaker 1: just playmakers like elite level players. Offensively, I love the
- 3:29Speaker 1: identity of where this offense is going, and talk a
- 3:31Speaker 1: lot about that Klint Kubiak running the football. I know
- 3:34Speaker 1: it was just a preseason, but that little nugget we
- 3:36Speaker 1: got against the Chiefs, I think that's a precursor for
- 3:38Speaker 1: what we're going to see this year. So I'm excited.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Sam Darnold, Cooper Cup, all those guys. Weren't getting to
- 3:42Speaker 1: all those coming up. But like I mentioned, it started off,
- 3:46Speaker 1: those hated forty nine ers are on tap.
- 3:49Speaker 2: What's on tap? Forty nine ers?
- 3:52Speaker 1: Last year a little different, well, not been like the
- 3:54Speaker 1: years before. Six and eleven last place in the NFC West.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Last year they're banged up. They were banged up, but
- 4:01Speaker 3: hey take the l last place in the West.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I know they were banged out. It doesn't mean I can't.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Enjoy saying six and eleven last place. You said that, No,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean Kyle Shanahan. We know how good he is.
- 4:11Speaker 1: A head coach. Ninth season is for the forty nine Ers,
- 4:14Speaker 1: coming off their first losing season since twenty twenty, only
- 4:17Speaker 1: the third under Kylee.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Shanahan.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Obviously you mentioned it last year. It was all about
- 4:21Speaker 1: injuries and disappointment. We know this team has super Bowl
- 4:24Speaker 1: caliber in it. We know how good of a team
- 4:26Speaker 1: they are when it comes to who's on it. But
- 4:28Speaker 1: they're gonna be without a lot of dudes.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Yeah, d Bo gone he with the Commanders, green Law,
- 4:34Speaker 3: who Funga Ward. All these guys are out of there.
- 4:37Speaker 3: So there's some change going on with the forty nine ers,
- 4:39Speaker 3: But that is the NFL is rare you bring the
- 4:41Speaker 3: same squad back, especially when you gotta start paying dues
- 4:44Speaker 3: like Fungo or whatnot.
- 4:45Speaker 4: It's gonna look different. But they're bringing back Robert Sala.
- 4:48Speaker 3: He was the defensive coordinator over there for the Niners
- 4:50Speaker 3: from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty, went to New York,
- 4:53Speaker 3: had an experiment, didn't work out. But that's why you
- 4:55Speaker 3: keep your relationships because now he's back in San Francisco.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 1: No, there's a couple more connections. When you look at
- 5:00Speaker 1: the defensive side of the football for the Niners because
- 5:01Speaker 1: Solo was here in Seattle. It's called to control for
- 5:03Speaker 1: a little bit. Our guy kJ Wright, who I love
- 5:06Speaker 1: KJS there. kJ Wright on the Niner staff. He's there too,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and old defensive coordinator Gus Bradley is also on staff
- 5:13Speaker 1: for the forty nine ers, So they got a lot
- 5:15Speaker 1: of experience on that side of the football, a lot
- 5:17Speaker 1: of familiar faces there and Bump. I'll just take a look,
- 5:19Speaker 1: really glance over this because different personnel, different coaches. But
- 5:23Speaker 1: last year the Niners defensively their top ten defense. They
- 5:26Speaker 1: were eighth overall against the run there middle of the pack, eighteenth,
- 5:29Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty four yards per game, and against
- 5:31Speaker 1: the past they were top five, allowing just one hundred
- 5:34Speaker 1: and ninety two yards per game. They're gonna bring pressure,
- 5:37Speaker 1: they know they're gonna, you know, have playmakers on that
- 5:39Speaker 1: side of the ball. Losing Hufunga is gonna hurt. But
- 5:41Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see what Saala can do with
- 5:43Speaker 1: that side of the ball.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's interesting. Saula is a good coach. I think
- 5:47Speaker 3: he got a tough draw over there with the Jets.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So you bring them back with the forty nine, is
- 5:50Speaker 3: you expect this defense to play some good ball. I
- 5:52Speaker 3: almost don't even want to read the Seahawks offensive stats
- 5:55Speaker 3: because I feel like.
- 5:56Speaker 4: It's gonna be a lot better this year.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Last year they were ring four teenth overall, twenty eighth
- 6:01Speaker 3: rushing team, eighth passing team, and eighteenth when it came
- 6:04Speaker 3: to scoring points twenty two point one points per game.
- 6:07Speaker 3: It almost makes me, uh makes me cringe a little bit.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Because I've seen what this team has been working and
- 6:11Speaker 3: what they've been doing doing this offseason.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I can almost guarantee those numbers are going to be
- 6:15Speaker 4: better overall.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the one that jumps out to us
- 6:18Speaker 1: twenty eighth, yeah there. I mean, I would be willing
- 6:21Speaker 1: to bet my house, my mortgage, everything I got that
- 6:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks will not be twenty eighth in rush offense
- 6:26Speaker 1: this year, not at all. So it'll be interesting to see.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Like I said it, the Niners are a challenge. They
- 6:33Speaker 1: are who they are, and we you know, I think
- 6:35Speaker 1: last year, Yeah, they're banged up, that's football. But the
- 6:38Speaker 1: Seahaws is still gonna have to take it to them
- 6:40Speaker 1: and knock them off because that's just what it is
- 6:42Speaker 1: and that's what.
- 6:42Speaker 2: You gotta do. In this division.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Speaking of those forty nine ers, though, you know what
- 6:46Speaker 1: time it is time to know the.
- 6:47Speaker 2: History no your history series record.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The Seahawks lead the all time series thirty to twenty
- 6:54Speaker 1: two in the regular season, one in one in the postseason.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Last year, Bump the world got right again.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Sure snapped a six game losing streak to the forty
- 7:03Speaker 1: nine Ers down in Santa Claia in November. It was
- 7:05Speaker 1: a kind of dicey towards the end there. The forty
- 7:07Speaker 1: nine Ers were cleaning to a seventeen to thirteen lead.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Midway through the fourth quarter, Seahawks got stopped on fourth
- 7:12Speaker 1: and one another thing that I think is gonna change
- 7:14Speaker 1: this year. I don't think we'd have too many of
- 7:15Speaker 1: those big games, but they got stopped. Defense came out there,
- 7:19Speaker 1: they got to stop. That was right when Ernest came over,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and then we kind of started to see that shift
- 7:23Speaker 1: in the Seahawks defense. Then Gino Smith led an eleven
- 7:26Speaker 1: play eighty r drive that ended with Gino running it
- 7:28Speaker 1: in for that touchdown. And it was just good to see, man,
- 7:31Speaker 1: because obviously I kid a lot because I sports hate
- 7:34Speaker 1: the forty nine ers like crazy, but they're a good
- 7:36Speaker 1: football team, but losing six in a row to them.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Was tough, man, Man, It's it's humbling, and it's it's
- 7:42Speaker 3: tough when you go on a row in a beacha.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You come here in a beacha.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You gotta deal with those forty nine fans all year long.
- 7:49Speaker 3: So it's nice that towards the end of the year
- 7:51Speaker 3: you walk away with that debbie and the way they
- 7:53Speaker 3: did it too.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:54Speaker 3: You talk about the eleven play, eighty r drive by Gino,
- 7:56Speaker 3: he finishes it off himself, twenty five and thirty two
- 7:59Speaker 3: for two twenty he won one rushing touchdown and then
- 8:01Speaker 3: JSN he's the guy now he has one hundred and
- 8:04Speaker 3: ten yards and ten receptions.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Good way to end the season against the the Niners.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and I wanted to get back to what he
- 8:10Speaker 1: used to be, man, because from twenty twelve to twenty
- 8:12Speaker 1: twenty one, the Seahawks for seventeen and four against the Niners.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'm hoping that trend continues because that's what I like
- 8:18Speaker 1: to see. But let's let's take a peek around the NFCUS.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What's the word soldiers.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Soldiers and the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again,
- 8:29Speaker 2: what's the word in the west On Hawk Talk? All right,
- 8:34Speaker 2: what was the word? Last year?
- 8:35Speaker 3: In twenty twenty four, the Rams were ten and seven,
- 8:38Speaker 3: Seahawks ten and seven, Cardinals eight and nine in the
- 8:41Speaker 3: Niners were six and eleven.
- 8:43Speaker 4: Like my God mentioned at the bottom of the division.
- 8:45Speaker 3: The Seahawks missed the playoffs for the second straight year
- 8:47Speaker 3: in twenty twenty four, despite Mike McDonald's setting a Seahawks
- 8:50Speaker 3: record for the most wins by first year head coach
- 8:52Speaker 3: in franchise history.
- 8:54Speaker 2: He got ten wins.
- 8:54Speaker 3: It was the first time the Seahawks had missed the
- 8:56Speaker 3: playoffs in consecutive season since eight oh nine.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Guess who was on that team. Michael Bubbas was on
- 9:02Speaker 4: that team.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Man.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Anyway, it was some dark times, bro, there was some
- 9:05Speaker 3: dark times. But you know what, I think everyone around
- 9:08Speaker 3: this team knows that it's changing over here. And I'm
- 9:10Speaker 3: glad I can be on this end too, where I
- 9:12Speaker 3: was there the last time you miss the playoffs back
- 9:14Speaker 3: to back years, and now I'm here on the other
- 9:15Speaker 3: side and I get to experience the rebirth, right the
- 9:18Speaker 3: pivot that we're about to see.
- 9:20Speaker 1: No love it, and the crazy thing is is in
- 9:22Speaker 1: a lot of places ten wins. Is a great year
- 9:25Speaker 1: around here. It felt like, dang, we didn't get it done,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying.
- 9:27Speaker 2: So I love that.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I love where coach McDonald talks about chasing the edges
- 9:30Speaker 1: of everything they're doing here, and I'm excited to see where
- 9:32Speaker 1: this team is going.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I think we all know that they have a bright
- 9:34Speaker 2: future ahead of them.
- 9:35Speaker 1: We've been talking about these forty nine ers will continue
- 9:37Speaker 1: to They fall off a cliff in twenty four, winning
- 9:39Speaker 1: just six games, but they're missing They're missing a ton
- 9:41Speaker 1: of people we mentioned.
- 9:43Speaker 2: But here's the deal.
- 9:44Speaker 1: They still got Christian McCaffrey, still got George kittle yep
- 9:47Speaker 1: still got Black Party so Kyle used Check, still got
- 9:50Speaker 1: Trent Williams, still got Nick Boso. They're still forced to
- 9:52Speaker 1: be reckoned with it, and you got to take it
- 9:53Speaker 1: to him.
- 9:54Speaker 2: You gotta beat them. Mount Rushmore still intact, right.
- 9:58Speaker 4: The environment around the Mount Rushill w changed a little bit,
- 10:00Speaker 4: but they still got their due.
- 10:02Speaker 2: So let's be ready to go.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Let's talk about these Cardinals though that they improved in
- 10:05Speaker 3: twenty twenty four.
- 10:06Speaker 2: They went eight to nine.
- 10:07Speaker 3: They had a shot at the postseason, but lost five
- 10:10Speaker 3: of seven games to end the season. Kyler Murray, James Connor,
- 10:13Speaker 3: and Trey McBride all had great seasons, but they all
- 10:16Speaker 3: have a lot to prove and to be considered a
- 10:19Speaker 3: real continder. I talked to a lot of people, Bump
- 10:21Speaker 3: stated show you know, of course the sales spars hot
- 10:24Speaker 3: at me and this is a lot of people's dark horse.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Arizona Cardinals. They killed the draft. They went after a
- 10:29Speaker 3: bunch of defensive players. I believe six out of seven
- 10:31Speaker 3: of their draft picks were on the defensive side of
- 10:33Speaker 3: the ball. But they still got to prove it. They
- 10:36Speaker 3: got talent over there, but can they put it together?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Every year we talk about Arizona Cardinals you specifically, and
- 10:42Speaker 1: they're just hard to read.
- 10:43Speaker 2: We know they have talent. Kyler Murray is a dog.
- 10:45Speaker 2: We know he can play.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Trey McBride had one of the best seasons a tight
- 10:48Speaker 1: end has ever had, wearing an areas on the Cardinal uniform.
- 10:51Speaker 4: He got paid this offseason, didn't Yeah, sure did.
- 10:54Speaker 1: James Connor dog. I've always liked James since Pittsburgh overcoming cancer.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And you never know because I do. It is but
- 11:00Speaker 1: they have to prove it. They're their new head coach.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I think he's starting to turn the tide a little bit,
- 11:05Speaker 1: but I'm still waiting to see because they're up one week,
- 11:08Speaker 1: they're down, they're six and four, then they lose five
- 11:10Speaker 1: to seven, you know, so it's hard to tell. So
- 11:12Speaker 1: we'll see about the Niners that it's or excuse me,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the Cardinals as we move on, and last of a
- 11:16Speaker 1: lot of least, we got the Los Angeles Rams.
- 11:20Speaker 2: The Rams are just annoying to me.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But here's why, because they're a thorn in our backside
- 11:25Speaker 1: for one, and they just they never go away. They're
- 11:28Speaker 1: that annoying bug that you can't that he's buzzing you
- 11:30Speaker 1: and you can't do anything about it. But they're great,
- 11:32Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like we talked to JB.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Long every year when he played them. He's their play
- 11:36Speaker 1: by play voice. And even when the Rams seem dead
- 11:39Speaker 1: in the water, they still find a way to come back.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And that's because they have a great head coach John McVeigh.
- 11:45Speaker 1: You know, Matthew Stafford. The scene's gonna come down to
- 11:49Speaker 1: whether Stafford can say healthy.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I think that's what it is.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I mean that back who knows thirty seven man that
- 11:53Speaker 4: back to start to hurt.
- 11:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Acme one morning my knee was swallen for no reason.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I said, what is this? Thirty nine? That's what it is.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Well, don't they say once you get your mid thirties,
- 12:02Speaker 1: it's either you wake up and it's like is this
- 12:04Speaker 1: temporary or forever?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Exactly? Yeah, I got a hot Dave Wiman man, goide
- 12:08Speaker 2: me through this man.
- 12:09Speaker 3: But yeah, it comes down to Matthew Stafford. Can he
- 12:11Speaker 3: stay healthy? You bring over Devonte Adams. We know about
- 12:14Speaker 3: that defensive line, that they have a whole bunch of
- 12:16Speaker 3: young talent over there. They on paper, are the team
- 12:19Speaker 3: to be, But honestly, I look at this division it
- 12:22Speaker 3: feels like it's wide open.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it absolutely is. Every team has an opportunity
- 12:27Speaker 1: to make the playoffs. Every team he can compete. You
- 12:28Speaker 1: talk about the Rams, I think their defensive line. I
- 12:31Speaker 1: think Jared Verse, I think a Fisk, I think a
- 12:33Speaker 1: poona Ford they're forced to be reckoned with.
- 12:35Speaker 2: That's another one that we're gonna circle that the Seahawks
- 12:37Speaker 2: have to take care of business agains because the last
- 12:39Speaker 2: two years, I mean, there's a lot of factors that
- 12:41Speaker 2: went into it.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But you can look at both Rams games is why
- 12:44Speaker 1: the Seahawks didn't make the playoffs, right, and so it's
- 12:46Speaker 1: definitely gona come down to you got to own the
- 12:48Speaker 1: NFC West. That's gonna get you into the playoffs. We'll see,
- 12:51Speaker 1: But again we'll shift our attention back to those forty
- 12:53Speaker 1: nine ers.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Man up, Hey, who you got? Who you got? You
- 12:57Speaker 2: know what time it is? Man up? Man up, brother,
- 12:59Speaker 2: Man up man. On Hawk Talk, we.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Usually start with the quarterbacks bump. Today is gonna be
- 13:04Speaker 1: no different. And we're talking Brock Party. We've talked a
- 13:06Speaker 1: lot of Brock Party and you know what, everything's coming
- 13:09Speaker 1: up party right now. I'm not gonna lie.
- 13:11Speaker 2: My man had a great off season.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Anytime you become the highest paid player in the history
- 13:16Speaker 1: of a franchise like the San Francisco forty nine Ers,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I mean, I guess you're doing something right. I mean,
- 13:21Speaker 1: my guy went from misdra irrelevant to highest paid in
- 13:24Speaker 1: franchise history.
- 13:25Speaker 2: It's quite the jump.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Five years, two hundred sixty five million, one hundred million
- 13:28Speaker 1: guaranteed we know is what he did in twenty twenty
- 13:30Speaker 1: three led them to the Super Bowl. He was fourth
- 13:32Speaker 1: in MVP voting through for a franchise record four thousand,
- 13:35Speaker 1: two hundred and eighty yards, league's best passer rating. Niners
- 13:38Speaker 1: obviously come up short in the Super Bowl against the
- 13:40Speaker 1: Chiefs in overtime, but you know he has records, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 1: franchise history, passing yards, passer rating, single game completion, all
- 13:49Speaker 1: this different stuff.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But last year things really trailed off. Yeah, it fell
- 13:52Speaker 2: off a little bit.
- 13:53Speaker 3: He was thirty of four fifty five for thirty eight
- 13:55Speaker 3: hundred yards, twenty touchdowns and twelve interceptions, had as low
- 13:58Speaker 3: as complete percentage, and it seem like the flow was
- 14:04Speaker 3: off a little bit, and partly because of all the
- 14:08Speaker 3: injuries that they had. When you don't have all your
- 14:09Speaker 3: dogs out there, you're banged up yourself, things are gonna happen.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And that's what we saw with the forty nine ers.
- 14:13Speaker 3: And we know he's talented. The question is how can
- 14:16Speaker 3: he handle the pressure. You are the guy now one
- 14:18Speaker 3: hundred million dollars guaranteed, it's no longer.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Oh what a great story.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Look at this guy and mister irrelevant making plays is no,
- 14:24Speaker 3: you need to make plays for this team to have success,
- 14:28Speaker 3: to see if you can handle it.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think my whole thing with Perty's
- 14:32Speaker 1: always been turnovers. When he takes care of the football,
- 14:34Speaker 1: they're really hard to be. He gets the ball out fast,
- 14:37Speaker 1: he can get it to the sideline, win turns the
- 14:39Speaker 1: ball over. That's when the Niners lost his kind of
- 14:40Speaker 1: stack up. So we'll see Seahawks defensive or fourteenth last year.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Obviously I said it earlier. I think they're gonna be
- 14:45Speaker 1: top five defense and we'll see if that holds true there.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But talk about our QB one.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yeah, we got a new QB over here, Sam Darnold.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It's the new era of sek football. Man. He's coming
- 14:57Speaker 3: off for great years twenty seven years of age. Last
- 14:59Speaker 3: year forty three under nineteen yards, thirty five touchdowns, twelve
- 15:02Speaker 3: interceptions and helped the Vikings to a fourteen and three record.
- 15:06Speaker 3: He was the best available quarterback during the offseason, and
- 15:09Speaker 3: the Seahawks win ahead and got them. He's a number
- 15:11Speaker 3: three overall pick in twenty eighteen out of sc started
- 15:14Speaker 3: thirty eight games for his first three season with the Jets,
- 15:16Speaker 3: and then he was traded to the Panthers in twenty
- 15:18Speaker 3: twenty one.
- 15:19Speaker 4: And we know how the Jets have messed up quarterbacks
- 15:21Speaker 4: as what they do.
- 15:22Speaker 3: They started fifteen games over there with Carolina before signing
- 15:25Speaker 3: with the forty nine ers in twenty twenty three. Much
- 15:27Speaker 3: like the quarterback he is replacing in Seattle, Geno Smith.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Donald had up and down seasons or up and down career,
- 15:33Speaker 3: I should say, And it's almost fitting that he is
- 15:36Speaker 3: following Geno Smith because it's like they're almost on the
- 15:38Speaker 3: same path. Gino a later draft pick, not as high
- 15:41Speaker 3: as Sam Donald, but for some reason, I'm gonna say it,
- 15:44Speaker 3: this is going to be the get right organization quarterbacks
- 15:47Speaker 3: they get thrown to the side, they come here, Gino
- 15:49Speaker 3: gets right.
- 15:50Speaker 4: It's going to be the same thing for Sam Donald
- 15:52Speaker 4: here in Seattle.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And I'm going to do one further, is they get
- 15:54Speaker 2: right and then stay right? Stay right?
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Because I mean you look at the pairing, the
- 15:59Speaker 1: fact that Sam got to spend time in San Francisco
- 16:03Speaker 1: with Clinton Kobiac know the offense, really sit there and
- 16:06Speaker 1: just learn how people prepared. And there was a production
- 16:08Speaker 1: meeting earlier this offseason, and I heard him kind of
- 16:10Speaker 1: talk about it and just so much he learned about
- 16:12Speaker 1: the game of football. He's been playing in his whole life,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and you wouldn't think he'd be necessarily learning from a
- 16:17Speaker 1: younger guy like Brock Party. But when you really talked
- 16:19Speaker 1: to me, he's like, I learned about a lot of
- 16:21Speaker 1: preparation rock Purty. Okay, Brock Purty learned that from Jimmy Garoppolo.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Who did Jimmy G learn it from Jimmy G. Tom
- 16:27Speaker 1: Brady on the top the go. So it's like you
- 16:30Speaker 1: go through all that and you go can that makes sense.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I could see why the preparation. So him with Kink Kubiak,
- 16:34Speaker 1: I think that's going to be great. And I'm excited
- 16:37Speaker 1: because these guys are going to be This offense is
- 16:39Speaker 1: going to be fun to watch.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It should be, man, I'm excited. Like you said, Chiefs.
- 16:43Speaker 3: They showed us a little something something with ten plays,
- 16:45Speaker 3: eighty something yard drive. Sam Donald was four for four,
- 16:49Speaker 3: Zach Starvadae getting busy. Yeah, it should be fun to watch.
- 16:52Speaker 1: So yes, QB one new one in Seattle, excited to
- 16:55Speaker 1: see what Sam Donald was going to be able to do.
- 16:56Speaker 1: We talked about the Niners defense last year. They were
- 16:58Speaker 1: fifth against the pass, so we'll see where they fall off.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Losing two guys in that secondary think there's any changes there.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Then we're gonna shift to the running backs Christian McCaffrey
- 17:06Speaker 1: against the Seahawks front seven. McCaffrey, I mean, when he's
- 17:09Speaker 1: out there, he's one of the most dangerous suits in
- 17:11Speaker 1: the league. Doesn't matter where he's been, whether it was
- 17:13Speaker 1: at Stanford, whether it's in Carolina or for the forty
- 17:16Speaker 1: nine Ers. Three time Pro bowler, Swiss Army Knife, two
- 17:19Speaker 1: time All Pro. He obviously, you know, offensive Player of
- 17:21Speaker 1: the Year in twenty three when they get to the
- 17:23Speaker 1: Super Bowl and he had led the league in rushing,
- 17:26Speaker 1: did all kinds of stuff. His resume speaks for itself.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But again, health is a huge factor. Last season was
- 17:32Speaker 1: a season to forget for him. He only played in
- 17:34Speaker 1: four games after dealing with the achilles tendonitis and a
- 17:37Speaker 1: PCL injury that ended up shutting him down for the season.
- 17:39Speaker 1: In those four games, just fifty carries, two hundred yards,
- 17:43Speaker 1: no touchdowns.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Killing people's fantasy teams. Yeah, people, they were hot. But
- 17:47Speaker 3: you know what, he is a player, He is a person,
- 17:51Speaker 3: is a human being, and we care about him. We
- 17:54Speaker 3: just don't want him to go off against the forty
- 17:56Speaker 3: nine ers. But, like you mentioned, one of the best
- 17:57Speaker 3: in the game. I'm surprised only a three time Pro
- 17:59Speaker 3: Bowl if it feels like every year he should just
- 18:01Speaker 3: automatically be one.
- 18:02Speaker 2: But with these injuries now it's gonna be tough. Man.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Seahawks ranks sixteenth in the NFL versus the run, alowing
- 18:07Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty yards per game last year. You
- 18:11Speaker 3: can't go into a game thinking you're just gonna stop McCaffrey.
- 18:15Speaker 3: You might, you might stop him, Deepens might just do
- 18:17Speaker 3: their thing. The game plan is on point. You going thinking, okay,
- 18:19Speaker 3: let's just limit the explosive plays. That's the angle you
- 18:22Speaker 3: gotta take with this dude. All right, let's get into
- 18:25Speaker 3: what their receivers, Juwan Jennings and Ricky Piersaw.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I really like both of these.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Juwan is good enough to be a solid number two
- 18:32Speaker 3: on almost any team in the NFL. And Ricky Piarsaw
- 18:34Speaker 3: we all know his story getting shot last year, came
- 18:36Speaker 3: back from that. He showed some promise as well. Brandon
- 18:40Speaker 3: Ayuk towards ACL in the Week seven last year. So
- 18:42Speaker 3: you're not gonna see him. We'll see when he's gonna
- 18:44Speaker 3: come back there saying what maybe Week five, that's the earliest.
- 18:47Speaker 3: At the earliest, Deebo Samuel, he's not with the team anymore.
- 18:50Speaker 3: But let's focus on the guys who are here. Juwan
- 18:53Speaker 3: Jennings had a breakout season seventy seven receptions, nine hundred
- 18:56Speaker 3: and seventy five yards and six touchdowns. In his previous
- 18:59Speaker 3: three seas he had no more than thirty five receptions
- 19:03Speaker 3: or four hundred and sixteen yards.
- 19:06Speaker 2: He is going to be keep then he's capable.
- 19:08Speaker 3: If I felt like he had a pretty good game
- 19:10Speaker 3: or two against the Seahawks lost, yeah, I.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Think the first game he had a pretty big game,
- 19:13Speaker 2: the one that was in Seattle.
- 19:15Speaker 3: And then the young man Ricky Piersoll. He had a
- 19:17Speaker 3: brutal start to his career. We talked about him being
- 19:19Speaker 3: shot and attempt to robbery. Go glad he's okay. He
- 19:22Speaker 3: recovered and played in eleven games, have thirty round receptions
- 19:25Speaker 3: for forty yards and three touchdowns. He's a route runner,
- 19:29Speaker 3: went after the catch is good as well. Some additions.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Now you had Sky Moore from the Chiefs. Russell Gage,
- 19:34Speaker 3: I think he's out. I think I read something he
- 19:36Speaker 3: might be out this game. But they did sign vs
- 19:39Speaker 3: our sloppy seconds. But I still got left for MBS.
- 19:42Speaker 2: You're wearing a.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Different jersey though, but I got love for you. Just
- 19:44Speaker 3: don't do your thing here, man. None of these three
- 19:46Speaker 3: round the forty on his rosters last season. NBS was
- 19:48Speaker 3: in camp here, so they got some They got some
- 19:51Speaker 3: new names over there, some coming back with Juwan and
- 19:53Speaker 3: Ricky Piersoll and some new names as well.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they can stretch the field.
- 19:57Speaker 1: That's the one thing I think between Reek and Spoon
- 20:00Speaker 1: is keeping guys in front, right, And that's also Jay
- 20:02Speaker 1: Love Kobe Bryant in the back end.
- 20:03Speaker 2: We know what MVS can do.
- 20:04Speaker 1: He was just in camp, so if there's anything, if
- 20:06Speaker 1: anyone got a great look at what he is, huh,
- 20:08Speaker 1: it's our secondary right and Pierceaw I think he was
- 20:11Speaker 1: just kind of starting to come into his own towards
- 20:13Speaker 1: the end of last year. He's another big play guy
- 20:14Speaker 1: out of Florida who was a first round pick for
- 20:16Speaker 1: a reason. But no, this is a matchup I think
- 20:18Speaker 1: tilt Seahawks right, you have. This is an elite defense.
- 20:21Speaker 1: We think right now they got to go out there
- 20:22Speaker 1: and prove it. This is an elite secondary. We think
- 20:24Speaker 1: they've started to prove it. But I think they can
- 20:26Speaker 1: really drive that home this year. And I'm really excited
- 20:29Speaker 1: to see that, and I spoke to Julian Love I
- 20:32Speaker 1: think it was last week, and I'm just just talking
- 20:33Speaker 1: to him about the defense and everything like that, and
- 20:35Speaker 1: he's like, man, no, we we feel good about it.
- 20:37Speaker 1: And he said the thing that jumped out to me.
- 20:39Speaker 1: He said, you got a bunch of thinkers, which is
- 20:42Speaker 1: what you want to hear. Because when Mike McDonald's your
- 20:44Speaker 1: head coach, he's known as this defensive genius. Okay, he's
- 20:47Speaker 1: still got to communicate stuff to guys in the field,
- 20:49Speaker 1: whether certain a Jones, and I think you have one
- 20:51Speaker 1: of those dudes at every level, which is super helpful.
- 20:53Speaker 2: And I'm excited.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Understanding the scheme is key. Sounds like they got that.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh my goodness.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Shudder to think what those meetings are like just after
- 21:02Speaker 1: a year now though of like, dude, last year, I'm
- 21:04Speaker 1: sure guys were swimming being like, what what are we doing?
- 21:07Speaker 1: Now it's like boom, they can play fast. So I'm
- 21:09Speaker 1: excited to see that. Let's flip it over to our
- 21:11Speaker 1: receiving corps JSN Cooper Cup, I'm excited about this bump.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I'll kick it back to you in a second.
- 21:16Speaker 1: But major changes in this unit obviously, right it's been
- 21:19Speaker 1: the same since twenty nineteen. Tyler Lockett has been here
- 21:21Speaker 1: since twenty fifteen. Lockett k Mecf no longer here. Love
- 21:25Speaker 1: both those guys did a lot of great things here,
- 21:27Speaker 1: but it's a new era. You draft JSN in the
- 21:29Speaker 1: first round because you know what he could do. He
- 21:31Speaker 1: showed that last year right coming off taking that Torch's
- 21:34Speaker 1: number one receiver, breakout year for JSN. Single season career
- 21:37Speaker 1: highs one hundred receptions, oney one hundred and thirty receiving yards,
- 21:40Speaker 1: six touchdowns. Big things for Jason, I'm expecting and you
- 21:44Speaker 1: watch him. He talked about every year he's taking a jump,
- 21:47Speaker 1: but in his life, his third year is the one
- 21:49Speaker 1: he's taking the biggest jump. Third you're junior in high school.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Took the biggest jump junior at Ohio State, and we
- 21:54Speaker 1: saw what happen. You know things, it's usually the third
- 21:56Speaker 1: year you're somewhere he takes that jump. So I'm excited
- 21:58Speaker 1: to see that bump. And what I'm really excited about
- 22:02Speaker 1: now this this almost feels personal. So bringing back Cooper
- 22:05Speaker 1: Cup obviously the Yakama, Washington Native Davids High School Eastern Washington,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but the reason I'm so excited, obviously because he can play.
- 22:13Speaker 2: He's a great dude. I'm happy to see him here.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Bump you how much time we've talked about Cooper Cup
- 22:16Speaker 1: on this show, Man, about how we're gonna stop him,
- 22:19Speaker 1: and how he is killing us killing drawing up routes
- 22:21Speaker 1: and why we can't get I mean, I am so happy.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I told him this when I saw mn person first time, said,
- 22:25Speaker 1: you have no idea how happy you are that you're
- 22:26Speaker 1: on our side. We don't got to worry about talking
- 22:28Speaker 1: about you going off. So I'm excited, my boy. What
- 22:31Speaker 1: are you excited to see from Cooper?
- 22:32Speaker 4: Yeah, Cooper Cup. I did an interview with him. You
- 22:34Speaker 4: were there for that.
- 22:34Speaker 3: He's one of the smartest football players I've ever spoken to.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Like he understands defenses, and I can only imagine the
- 22:40Speaker 3: knowledge he's given the rest of this, this receiving corp.
- 22:42Speaker 3: You have no choice but to learn from the triple
- 22:45Speaker 3: Crown winner back in the day. Man in twenty twenty one,
- 22:47Speaker 3: one hundred and forty five receptions, nineteen hundred and forty
- 22:50Speaker 3: seven yards.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Sixteen touchdowns, one hundred and sixty I wrote down I
- 22:55Speaker 2: like it.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I didn't feel like it. He's just a ach complete receiver.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Routes are on point, can still block, and don't sleep
- 23:04Speaker 3: on his run after the catch. I know he's in
- 23:06Speaker 3: his thirties and you like to throw football players away
- 23:08Speaker 3: when he's in his thirties, but when he is healthy,
- 23:10Speaker 3: he's one of the most efficient receivers out there. Last
- 23:12Speaker 3: year sixty seven receptions for seven to ten and six touchdowns.
- 23:16Speaker 4: You also got the rookie Tory Horten.
- 23:18Speaker 3: That's part of the reason why MVS isn't here because
- 23:20Speaker 3: this young man hit the scene and made some moves.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Jake Bobo fan favorite. He's hanging around. You got Derek
- 23:25Speaker 3: Young and then Cody White. More love for Derek Young.
- 23:28Speaker 3: I think he doesn't get the love he deserves because
- 23:31Speaker 3: he is just the blue collar I'm gonna do special
- 23:33Speaker 3: teams and get things done. And like I mentioned Cody White.
- 23:36Speaker 3: So you know, defensively, the forty nine ers or twelfth
- 23:38Speaker 3: against the pass. Last year they were at least there
- 23:40Speaker 3: were six in the NFL in interceptions with ten, eighth
- 23:42Speaker 3: in the NFL with passes defendive with forty five.
- 23:45Speaker 2: But this is a new year.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Those rankings do mean something, but the personnel has changed
- 23:49Speaker 4: over there a little bit.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 1: No, I'm excited about this receiving core because you mentioned
- 23:53Speaker 1: blue call. But I feel like they all have a
- 23:55Speaker 1: hint of that to them, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And I don't think I don't think you could not
- 24:00Speaker 1: have that if you're playing for Klint Kubiak right in
- 24:02Speaker 1: this type offense, you've got to block.
- 24:04Speaker 2: You need to be physical.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Coach McDonald talks about it's a style that no one
- 24:07Speaker 1: wants to play well. To do that, you need to
- 24:09Speaker 1: be physical. You need to be relenting, you need to
- 24:10Speaker 1: be getting after DB's blocking them late after, you know
- 24:13Speaker 1: all that stuff.
- 24:13Speaker 2: So I'm excited to see that. A person I'm not
- 24:16Speaker 2: excited to see. Yep, his name is Nick Moosa.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I'm gonna call him Nicholas.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I could, I could, I don't. I don't necessarily
- 24:22Speaker 2: care to see him out there. We know who he is.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Ap defensive player there in twenty twenty two, eighteen and
- 24:27Speaker 1: a half sacks, Pro Bowl six and MVP voting.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Last year he was a problem. Sure was mainly in
- 24:34Speaker 2: the first.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Matchup and i'll, i'll there's a little qualifier there. He
- 24:38Speaker 1: only had four tackles to QB hits, but he had
- 24:40Speaker 1: fourteen pressures. Made life a living hell for Gino Smith.
- 24:43Speaker 1: According to next Gen stats difference though is Abe Lucas
- 24:47Speaker 1: was not playing Stars in right, so it was one
- 24:49Speaker 1: of those things where you know, non disrespect to him,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but you had stone foresights out there. He had a
- 24:53Speaker 1: couple other guys and he had a field day. The
- 24:55Speaker 1: next time down in Santa Clair, Abe was back and
- 24:57Speaker 1: he had a much different game. So between Abe Charles Cross,
- 25:00Speaker 1: I feel really good about stopping him.
- 25:02Speaker 2: He's a great dude.
- 25:02Speaker 1: He's gonna he's gonna rest a passer, he's gonna get
- 25:04Speaker 1: after it when he gets in that like almost wide
- 25:06Speaker 1: nine track stance, and you're like, okay.
- 25:08Speaker 2: But no, he's a good football player.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Finished year last year fifty two tackles, nine sacks, fifteen TFLs,
- 25:13Speaker 1: twenty four QB hits, one force fumble, one pass fenal
- 25:17Speaker 1: Win interception.
- 25:18Speaker 2: He's a problem.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I think Abe Lucas just got a little bump, feel
- 25:21Speaker 1: little good about himself.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Charles Cross, even though he is he's a dog.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I think between both of them, I don't expect Nick
- 25:26Speaker 1: Boster to wreck the game, but he is someone that
- 25:28Speaker 1: the offense needs to be aware of it on every snap.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he'll make some plays. I mean, he's Nick Bosa.
- 25:33Speaker 3: At one point he was considered the best defensive player
- 25:35Speaker 3: in the game.
- 25:36Speaker 4: So yeah, but we got our guys. Old line is healthy.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I like that matchup.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Last matchup, we're talking about George Kittle against the LB's
- 25:45Speaker 3: and the secondary of this team.
- 25:48Speaker 4: George Kittle is a special type of football player, all right.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Of course, players decline over the years, but he still
- 25:55Speaker 3: did a thing last year over a thousand yards eleven
- 25:57Speaker 3: hundred yards seven eight receptions and eight touchdowns and twenty
- 26:00Speaker 3: twenty four, kill had the third most receiving yards amongst
- 26:03Speaker 3: tight ends, and his eight touchdowns were second among NFL
- 26:06Speaker 3: tight ends. In the NFL, the tight end group is
- 26:09Speaker 3: talented in the NFL period, So the fact that he
- 26:11Speaker 3: is still up there with the elite, it's something special.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I'm looking to see. Do they rough him up on
- 26:16Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage to let them run? How are
- 26:18Speaker 3: you going to try to contain George Kittle. It's gonna
- 26:21Speaker 3: be a tough task. But I like this defense, I
- 26:23Speaker 3: like the person. I like the matchup. He'll he'll make
- 26:25Speaker 3: some plays. Now, he'll make some plays, but just try
- 26:28Speaker 3: to limit them. Yeah, he's I mean, I'll call his
- 26:31Speaker 3: pay to fade.
- 26:31Speaker 1: He's He's done well into the Seahawks over the years,
- 26:33Speaker 1: especially in the last five or six.
- 26:36Speaker 2: The best it's done is when he didn't play this
- 26:39Speaker 2: game last year. But no, Kittle's a dog. They got that.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Uh what is it that tighten you with Greg Olsen
- 26:44Speaker 1: and Travis Kelcey and everyone down there. But George kill
- 26:47Speaker 1: is a player. He can he can block like an
- 26:50Speaker 1: offensive lineman right, and he can get down the field.
- 26:52Speaker 1: So he's definitely gonna be a problem for the Seahawks secondary.
- 26:55Speaker 1: But when I continue to look at all this, they
- 26:57Speaker 1: have dogs on their side, but so do the Seahawks,
- 26:59Speaker 1: and I think the Seahawks will be up.
- 27:00Speaker 2: For the challenge. Speaking of which, will let you guys
- 27:03Speaker 2: know how the seas are gonna get a victory. Path
- 27:04Speaker 2: to victory. After forty five waits for the staff, Michael
- 27:09Speaker 2: Dixon puts it down. That kick is away. If that
- 27:12Speaker 2: kick is gone, good, say on, Gwen, it's gone. It's
- 27:17Speaker 2: a path to victory.
- 27:18Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk, kicked off the season talking about Mike
- 27:21Speaker 1: Bedald in his second season, head coach, and this is
- 27:24Speaker 1: a great opportunity show the entire NFL, in the league
- 27:26Speaker 1: what him and John Schnyder have been building over the
- 27:28Speaker 1: past year. It's time to show the league and everyone
- 27:31Speaker 1: else that what you preach, a style that nobody wants
- 27:35Speaker 1: to play, is what you're gonna put out there on
- 27:36Speaker 1: the field on Sunday. And I'm excited for him to
- 27:39Speaker 1: get that opportunity to do that on Sunday.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Practice what you preach, and you have to start fast offensively,
- 27:45Speaker 3: Ay Sas goes to the run game. You got to
- 27:47Speaker 3: establish the run early. Clint Kolbek's offense is all about that.
- 27:50Speaker 3: He's gonna pack it in. He's gonna have motion, hand
- 27:52Speaker 3: that football off and let these guys run that raw.
- 27:55Speaker 3: You run the balls because me, you set the tone
- 27:58Speaker 3: and Sam Darnold needs to. His view is don't be done,
- 28:00Speaker 3: spessher you good though, all right, this offense is perfect
- 28:02Speaker 3: for Sam Darnold doesn't have to be anything special to
- 28:05Speaker 3: take care of the football and play with some confidence.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and absolutely, And you know what's gonna give him
- 28:09Speaker 1: confidence when you're throwing the guys like Jay Jackson Smith
- 28:12Speaker 1: and Jake but Cooper, cub Tory Horten. They're gonna make
- 28:14Speaker 1: it hard on the forty nine or DBS, and I'm
- 28:17Speaker 1: excited to see that. And then defensively, you gotta get
- 28:19Speaker 1: after Rock Party. I mentioned it earlier. I think the
- 28:21Speaker 1: key to this game defensively is to get after his turnovers.
- 28:25Speaker 1: When the forty nine ers and Rock Party specifically turned
- 28:27Speaker 1: the football over. This team loses football games. It's a
- 28:29Speaker 1: big part of that. And Seahawks gotta start fast.
- 28:32Speaker 3: So Seahawks want to run the football, get your receivers involved.
- 28:35Speaker 3: And now the defense, you gotta stop the run with
- 28:37Speaker 3: Christian McCaffer. You cannot let him go off. Man, show
- 28:40Speaker 3: the world what your defense is all about, and let
- 28:43Speaker 3: the genius of Mike McDonald just fly.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Let it be free. Now.
- 28:47Speaker 3: He showed us a little bit of it during the preseason, right,
- 28:50Speaker 3: It's almost like he showed us and he said, calm down,
- 28:52Speaker 3: I gotta keep some of this. I gotta keep something.
- 28:53Speaker 3: So we saw the vanilla stuff. Now we're gonna see
- 28:56Speaker 3: what is really about. The pressures, the stunts, the blitz,
- 28:59Speaker 3: all of that good stuff you mentioned. There's a bunch
- 29:00Speaker 3: of thinkers on that defense. Man, let these guys do
- 29:03Speaker 3: your thing.
- 29:04Speaker 1: No, and honestly, bump like a sea. Whether you're a
- 29:07Speaker 1: Seahawk fan, you follow the team whatever it is. The
- 29:09Speaker 1: Seahawks are known for being good at home, and that
- 29:12Speaker 1: hasn't been the case last year.
- 29:13Speaker 2: There three and six.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Everyone knows that sounds good enough. I want to see
- 29:16Speaker 1: that tide turn. We need to start winning football games
- 29:19Speaker 1: at home, especially within this division. Get the season started
- 29:22Speaker 1: off right. Give the twelve something great to go crazy for. Man,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I'm excited about it because here's the thing. You know,
- 29:27Speaker 1: you worry about whether it's other opposing fans in the building,
- 29:30Speaker 1: it won't matter if you're doing playing well in the
- 29:32Speaker 1: field because.
- 29:33Speaker 2: It's going to be drowned out. So the Seahawk fans
- 29:35Speaker 2: are going to be louder and marazy. I can't wait.
- 29:37Speaker 1: The Seahawks need to go one to O reminder, you
- 29:39Speaker 1: can listen to us anywhere YouTube, Seahawks dot Com, Apple podcasts, Spotify,

- 29:50Speaker 1: A lot of great stories as we celebrate our fiftieth
- 29:52Speaker 1: season as a franchise. Bump, I'm excited. Things get going
- 29:55Speaker 1: on Sunday Seahawks taking on the forty nine ers at
- 29:58Speaker 1: one five On Sunday, pregame show gets going at ten am,

- 30:08Speaker 2: been talked off
