Go there, buy an apocalyptic apparel t-shirt, and leave us an audio message on the website. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I hope everybody is having a fantastic Thursday morning. I am back in the US, back in the United States after being gone for a month. And this is the first episode I'm doing, being back in the States, being back home. The things I missed while I was gone were just really bizarre to me. Okay. I missed my bed. And I think that's a standard thing. Like we all we all miss our beds when we haven't slept in in them for a while. You know, like you you miss your bed. I guess if you're going camping over the weekend, taking the R V out, maybe you work like I do in in emergency services and you're staying overnight at the stations, things like that, or you know, you're on a long trip. It's like d it's a very quick human emotion to want our like den where we sleep our bed back, you know. We hit that one pretty quick, but I hit some other ones that were just very strange, to say the least. They were strange that I hit these things. And here's what they were. I missed my shower. Showering it if in a different shower consistently over the course of 30 days, I missed like my water pressure, the way the water felt on my body, the everything, the temperature, the shower, like it's just I missed, I wanted my fucking shower. Like I was getting good showers places, but I wanted my shower, right? And then I started wanting my toilet. Like I wanna shit in my own fucking toilet. I want that's where I want to shit in my own toilet. I've been shitting in all these toilets for a month. I want to shit at home in my toilet. And then I you know, because we're gone, we're in another country, we don't have our vehicles. I'm like, I miss driving my vehicles. Like I wanna drive my car, I wanna drive my truck, like I miss my stuff. Like these rental cars are fantastic. They're nice and everything, but I want my stuff back. And then other little things, just I guess just being homesick. You know, standard things. Obviously, you know, I miss the critters, the dogs, the cats, things like that. Like I miss the animals. But like I'm thinking about the coffee cups I have in the cabinet and how I'm not like how I'm drinking out of a paper cup everywhere we go, or I'm using like a unfamiliar cup at a relative's house or something. Like I want my fucking coffee cup that I use every morning. Like I want my cup. And that's pretty much like toward the last like two weeks, three weeks of the trip, it's just like that like I all these like little things started popping in my brain. Like I miss washing my hands in my bathroom sink, not like everywhere that I'm doing it. And it initially started with the bed. Like really the the bed was the big thing. I just want my fucking bed back. But then all these other little things came creeping in there. And I just thought that was odd. This is the longest trip that I've taken away from home. Okay. And I don't think that I will willingly go on a trip that long again unless the stars align and it just makes sense to do it. Like the tickets are are a little bit cheaper if we extend it to that time. Or, you know, we're looking to write an error B and B and the guy's like, if you take the whole thing for a month, I'll knock X amount off. And it, you know, shit like that. Like maybe if it's like, okay. This financially makes sense to stay longer. Okay, stay longer. That kind of a situation. But how we did it this last go around with country hopping and then being stationary in one country for three weeks and then coming back to the States and not returning home right away when we got back and like adding extra things in there. This was a very exhausting trip. And I just wish I really wish that we could have had a little bit more I g I guess you could say hindsight in regards to how long this was actually gonna be and how stationary we were gonna be in Greece toward the end there. If we were to do it all over again, exactly how we did it, I think that I would have much rather just spent two weeks in Greece, not the three weeks over three weeks that we did. I think I would have rather just stayed two weeks in Greece and then maybe did like Five days in Scotland, five days in Ireland, and just shorten that up because we've been gone for over a month. I think I would have liked to have this shortened down to maybe just over three weeks. You know, not quite four weeks, but like just over three, something to that effect. I'm thinking would have been good. Anyway, we're back now. We're getting settled back into the house, and some crazy things had happened ⁓ in our absence. Okay. And this is gonna be one of those, you know, personal jester dooms episodes. ⁓ yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be one of those ones. But get to that right after this break. I am still your host, Jester Dooms. That has not changed. The email has not changed either. Doomdaily show at gmail.com. Drop us a line. Anyway, so if you're if you've been a listener of the show since its conception and you've caught every episode, you know quite a bit about my daily existence. Okay. You may recall some past episodes where I talked about I had some families members move in. These family members were in a bad spot. They didn't have anywhere to go. They needed some help. So my wife and I did everything we could for these two family members that moved in. Okay. Now, I could probably do ten episodes on how bad it all sucked. Cause there was a lot of adjustments. There was a lot of things that were horrible in the very, very beginning. ⁓ and you know, eventually after a lot of work and tears and sweat and blood and craziness, like things finally started to level, level out. Okay. Now, I will tell you what, I have learned in life repeatedly, you know, you never you never give up on people. Like you try to see the silver line and you try to see the good in people, like that's what you do. Okay. Like that's across the board. So if somebody comes to you, with a bad spot in life, you know, they're in a bad position, they're in a bad spot, and they say, hey, I need some help. You you know, the the the morally right thing to do is to oblige. Okay. That's that's what you're supposed to do. Now, anybody that tells you, ⁓ that this person sucks, they're gonna burn you, or you know, you're you're being a moron, you're wasting your time trying to help this individual, I I don't agree with that. You don't know till you know. Okay. How many of us had exes out there that had sucked ass and that ex is now married, having a good life because they finally found their per their person? How many people have you worked with where they really sucked at their job and you're like, man, we need to fire this moron because he sucks? And then you hear like two years later, this dude's over here, supervisor at this company, he's doing really well. Sometimes people don't have value and don't do well in a current circumstance. And sometimes changing the people around them, changing the environment, changing the circumstances that they need to succeed under does wonders. So just because your friend over here couldn't help this person, that doesn't mean you couldn't. Maybe they would be more receptive to you. Maybe you would see a different path for success. So I do think it is worth it is worth giving it. Giving it a go, giving it a try. So when these relatives moved in, like I said, it was, it was hell on wheels. We worked our asses off, and we got to a point of leveling out, getting them to be put together, getting one of them to the point of success, like, you know, did all that. Okay. And then we leave town for this trip. And automatically, like within hours. The work we did over the course of almost two years started unraveling and being reversed. And the one individual started reverting back to to previous bullshit behaviors and and and things of that nature. Right. And it got worse as the days went on to where we're watching our home from 5,000 miles away. We're watching on the security cameras by The house is covered in cameras. All right. And we're watching the chaos happen and the self-destructive behaviors happening. And we can see this like chaotic mess forming. Now we're 5,000 miles away. We we can't, you know, we're we're not gonna drop what we're doing and return back home. You know, it's it's not that easy. It's not like you're right down the road at a theme park and you're like, hey, we gotta leave early. No, we're on the other side of the fucking world. You can't just go to the airport and be like, hey, there's something crappy going on at home. Like I need to move my flight up. Like, no, no, no, no, no. If it's an emergency, they might work with you, but just like, hey, things don't seem right here. I kind of gotta go back early. They don't, you know. So essentially I'm not gonna cut my trip short and pay thousands of dollars to go see what the hell's go really going on, you know. ⁓ but this person, this individual, when we left, had a job, had just started college. Had a scheduled surgery, was about two weeks away from getting a driver's license. Everything was golden. There was like no issues. And this person decided to throw it all away to go back to the environment that caused all of their initial problems. Now, I don't know if it's a like I said in the beginning of the segment, sometimes environment matters. The people around you matter. Right. Like it it it does. This person was not successful. They didn't do well. They they weren't doing good in the previous environment. And a lot of people tried to help. Other family members stepped in, stepped up, tried, attempted, tried to reason, tried to talk, tried to bargain, made deals, offered places to live, like the whole nine yards, but they didn't want to bite on anything. And because of that it led them to a point of, you know, coming to to our house. is what it eventually led to. So this person has face just ran blindly back into the environment that destroyed them. And I can't prevent it, you know, I mean, I I can't hold somebody hostage at my home. Like you're free to leave. This isn't prison. If you want to go back to that, you can go back to that. And I tried to to reason with them and said this is a really bad idea. ⁓ this is not good. You're doing this in all the wrong ways. Like, you know, you just quit a job you just started. You just quit college. You just, you just, you're you're giving up on everything that's good to go back to to suck. Now, you can sit there over there as you're listening to this driving down the road in your car, whatever it is you're doing, and you could say, you know, you could have maybe fought harder. When a person's mind is made up, a person's mind is made up. I could have did things. I could have said things. I could have made phone calls. I I could have did things to persuade them harder to stay, but what would have happened was it would have been a battle every week, every other week, every two weeks, once a month, you know, knockdown drag out of the trying to keep this person on track, trying to keep this person, you know, on the straight and narrow. They got a wild hair up rest. This is what they want to do, and they're gonna do it. And there's there's really no way to stop it. Now. In the instance of this, this is the this is a decision that there's no going back from. When you build some up when you build somebody up for almost two years and they basically tell you to kick rocks, I'm I'm done. I'm I'm going back to the thing that caused the problem. It's like, okay, you can go back and you can stay there, kind of a situation. So that was the big shock to the system when we arrived back into the US. As soon as we get back the You know, the family that we had here is like, hey, we're we're going. And I'm like, I've been busting my ass for almost two years to get you to this point and you're gonna just throw it all away? Like, really? That's what you're gonna do? Okay. I really can't stop you. I could tell you how much of a moron you're being, and it's very, very dumb to do this. ⁓ but I I I really cannot stop you. Like I can't I'm not gonna like chain you to the bumper and say, No, you can't go. Like you're Free to make your own decisions in life. So, but as they drove out of my driveway, they set the metaphorical bridge on fire and they burned the shit out of that and there's no coming back over it. So that's where we're at with that. Something that was like really, you know, there was a lot of things that are like a nail in a coffin for like, ⁓ you can't come you guys can't come back here, like, you know. There was a lot of things that would happen. Now one would think that, you know, you you take care of somebody for, you know, and you you do all these things for somebody over the course of two years and and they know you're leaving town and, you know, they're gonna be, you know, in your home. You know, one would think that like they would be grateful, you know, or or greatly appreciative of everything. And, you know, they would take like really great care of, you know, the house to where, you know, you're you're on vacation, you you think that you would come back to a home that would be like spotless, a home that would be like cleaned, you know, immaculate, things organized, put away. I mean, you have over a month to to like clean things and do things. And, you know, over a fucking month, man. Like you could do a lot in month. ⁓ it was troublesome for this person to clean the litter box for the cats. It was troublesome for this person. To feed a dog. Like it it it was like kind of mind blowing. Like these simple little daily tasks, like these easy little things, were so problematic for them. Like we're we're watching the cameras and listening to this individual have like meltdowns about cleaning the litter box or letting the dog in and out. Like it, like they couldn't be bothered with opening the door for the dog. They couldn't be bothered with it. Like it's the dog's home, man. He fucking lives there. You know, he's he's not on a chain. He's not outside. Like he lives in the house. He goes in, he comes out. That's he's a dog. That's what he does. He doesn't have a job. He doesn't pay bills. He doesn't have anywhere to be, right? His his job is to be the dog. He goes in, he comes out. I mean, he doesn't shit on the floor. He's totally fucking housebroken. Like, so if he's at that door, it's probably because he needs to take a shit. Or he has to take a piss. He doesn't use the fucking bathroom like somebody's gotta open the fucking door. And he lives inside. So of course he goes outside, he wants to come in. He goes outside, he wants to come in. And it was like just it was so weird, like this demeanor of like, I can't be bothered opening a door for a dog. Like, really? He doesn't ask much. The door's kind of not that big of a deal, but okay. ⁓ so needless to say, because of that. Mentality and that that behavior. The dog got left out during a bad storm. The dog took off. We discovered the dog was missing from 5,000 miles away because we haven't seen him on the camera in hours. He's just not around. So thanks to the lovely small town that we live in and everybody kind of knowing everybody and us having like a good Facebook group in our town, we ended up getting the dog back. But I gotta tell you, this dog, he's ⁓ the dog's fourteen years old. He's like one of our kids at this point. If we would have came back from vacation and that dog was dead, gone, didn't come back, there blood would have been drawn. So, you know, things like that were transpiring in our absence from a person that we literally put our lives on hold to help out. So I mean, you know, it's it's kind of one of these these episodes today where I'm just like wanting to vent and just get this all fucking out there. And if I don't, it's gonna pollute the next coup couple weeks of episodes that are coming. It's just gonna pollute the shit out of them. Cause you're gonna hear me like randomly going off on tangents bitching about things. But to but to continue into this, like other things that were going on, like this person had work lined up and they had college classes lined up and they went and they started their onboarding with work and you know work got delayed for like a couple weeks for them to finish some things. So they're, you know, they their jobs lined up, they're working, but they're also doing their college classes a couple days a week. And we have other critters here. You know, we've got chickens, we've got goats, we've got ducks, we've got cats. In our absence, you know, it's usually my father you know, making rounds around the property and and, you know, doing all these things. You know, it's it's kind of his enjoyment of the day. He likes the critters. So he goes and messes with the the animals. Right. Now, my father was leaving town ⁓ to go on a trip a couple hours away. And he was only going be gone for a total of like three to four days. It wasn't a lot. Now this individual had classes on two of those days. And I said, like, hey, you know, are you gonna be able to handle you know, I said, I said, I know you have a lot going on right now. I said, I know there's a shit ton of things going on. I said, Do you think you're gonna be able to handle like, you know, taking care of the goats and the chickens and stuff like before you take off for class and stuff like that? Like, are you gonna be able to handle this? I said, It's only a few days, but like if I need to get somebody over there, you know, you need to tell me now kind of thing. And they're like, I don't know, maybe. And it's like th this isn't an I don't know maybe because you can't leave for the day and leave an animal without water or without food because you you got flustered getting ready in the morning or something like so. I need to know. And it was like, Yeah, yeah, just just send somebody over then. And I'm like, Okay, fine, sure, fair enough. All right. In my brain thinking that they're actually doing something. They're not. They quit going to college while we were gone. So I'm over here trying to make I I'm still over here trying to make life easier on this individual, taking away a little tiny piece of responsibility that they said they could handle before we left. And then I'm sending somebody over to do this that has their own life with their own shit going on, because this person's supposed to be in class and they're not. So Like I don't even know what you do with that. I don't know what you chalk that up to. Do you chalk that up to like being irresponsible? Do you chalk that up to lying? Do you chalk that up to laziness? Or or like all of the above? So, needless to say, with these kind of things transpiring, you know, in our absence, and then them saying, Yeah, I'm I'm done here. I w I wanna go back to the place that destroyed me, it was like ⁓ well, I mean, you know, d ⁓ clearly you made an argument to get yourself kicked out. If you were if you were trying to get kicked out, you almost you almost did it. Because if we would have came back to dead animals or something like that, that would have did it. You know, for me, I would have been like, That's it, you gotta go. ⁓ it was it was nice knowing you, blah, blah, blah. But In this instance of like I you know, I'm leaving, I need to go, it's time, blah, blah, blah, all these things, it's like, you know, ⁓ no, it's it's it's really not time. Like you need to get your ass back in class, you need to keep your job and you need to to not do this dumb shit. But at the same time, I'm over here like you wrecked shop while you while we were gone. You know, like a lot fucking transpired. So I mean, like I said, I can't fight to keep you, I could just keep. I kept reiterating, this is stupid. This probably isn't going to work out. This is very dumb. ⁓ but they're like, nope, I'm going. And it's like, okay, well, you know, you you do you, I guess. You know, come back to visit sometime. Maybe I'll see you at the holidays, you know, things like that, I guess. But it is, you know, it it is a very, I guess, you know, it's a very heartbreaking circumstance whenever there's there's a big difference in the type of love that you can have for people. Okay. And I think that you have more care for people and more love for people when you've watched them go from nothing into something or you've watched them, you know, blossom into something beautiful or something capable or something awesome. You know, to physically watch their transition and be a part of that, I think holds a deeper significant bond than just like, yeah, you're my Cousin, you know, cool. What's up, dog? You know, one love, blood's thicker than water, blah, blah, blah. You know, like that kind of bullshit. You know, it's it's not like, ⁓ I care about you by default because you're a family member. It's like, no, no, no, you're you're my family, so like I I give a shit. You know, like I know you, I care about you, like I give a shit. But when, you know, when you have somebody move in and they're in a bad spot and you bring them up from the fucking ashes and you know, and make them a phoenix and you're watching them fucking soaring doing fantastic and then you start watching them crash and burn, it's way more fucking heartbreaking. And then that brings me to the last and final nail in the coffin. There's no way I could put myself or my wife or my children through this scenario again. There just isn't. So I hope you all enjoyed today's episode of the Doom Daily Show because I just like back in the US, finally getting the house in order, finally getting my mind right. I just had to get all this shit out now and just have one episode on the suck before, like I said, it pollutes all the episodes we have coming in the next couple of weeks here. ⁓ thank you very much for listening. If you haven't done already, make sure you like, share, and subscribe. We'll be back here for another exciting episode tomorrow of the Doom Daily Show. Producer Scooter Sir, if you would, hit that button. Facts and opinions. This is
