- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hi everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another great episode of Crushing Strongholds.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: This is a podcast where we turn pain into power, trauma into triumph, and a place where we get to expose the lies of the enemy.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: And how do we do that?
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: We do that through testimony.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: We do that through testimony of faith and overcoming obstacles.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: We like to dismantle and crush strongholds, and that's what this podcast is about.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: We also get to share the word of God and the love of Jesus Christ.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: And today I'm super excited.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I have a newfound friend.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I just love her.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: She's amazing.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I I've only got to know her a short while, and I can just see this friendship blossoming.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited that I had a chance to meet her.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And um, she's going to come on and tell us a little bit about herself.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And her name is Wanda DePaulo.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I hope I said that correctly.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And um, just a really sweet, sweet lady, and she is an author and she's a digital creator, and she does online business, and she helps other people to get online and earn income online.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Um, she's also um a Christian, and today she's got a story to share with us today, and how she crushed a stronghold of her own.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to bring her on and have her say hello.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: So welcome in, Wanda.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad you're here.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Thank you for inviting me.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: It's an honor.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Would you like to um explain a little bit more to our listeners, like some of what you do with your business?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: Um, well, I'm a digital creator, and um, we have a personal development app that helps just the average person keep uh track of their habits with a daily quote, a vision board, a task, uh, a habit tracker, a protein tracker, um, and much, much more.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: And I'm really excited about it because it has transformed my life.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: It's something that you could use each and every day to keep track of your progress.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: And you're not in competition with anybody, you're in competition with yourself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: You just keep, you know, it's a way for you to be accountable.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: So you have to be honest because if you're not honest, you're lying to yourself on everything.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: So, you know, it's really important, and uh what I share to the world, I use I really believe in.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: I have a very community uh community that's very supportive, non-judgment, non-judgmental, that uh you know, accepts you right where you're at.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: So I love that.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: And I have another path that's a health path, which is uh home blood test where you do it home and you prick your finger, and uh you get it back in in 20 days and it tells you what's going on inside your body.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: So I'm really excited about that because I can help so many people help themselves.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Um finally I found a safe community somewhere where I belong, where I learn and I grow uh each and every day.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Principle centered leadership and uh the Holy Spirit is working there, he's working through the morning mastermind call that I share every day.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: And I love to invite my listeners to uh uh we learn skills from Napoleon Hale, thinking grow rich, the laws of success.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: But uh we open up the lines to all the listeners around the world, and that's where we come together in harmony and cooperation for the better of all, and people step out and they share and they share from their heart, and I love that because we're learning so much from each other, and uh that's really yeah, yeah, it's really good.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: And today uh I had an aha moment how God planted that seed years ago, and today on that call, like bumped me, he like whacked me and everything that he's put me through, everything that I learned has been all for this big purpose for this business that has come to me in the palm of my hand with these people come from the universe that I never imagined in a million years, and uh I always pray his will, not mine.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: That's really awesome, and it was just really powerful, and then he of course today Paul played his song and it made me cry because it's everything we stand for integrity, honesty, being yourself.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: I don't know, it was just so powerful that God is working through everybody, He is, He's working through all of us.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Some of us use our gifts, some of us don't, but we still love them, and you know, anybody can pick up their cross at any time.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Amen to that.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's really good.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: That's that's I love that you said that.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I also like um that you're talking about um, you know, be having integrity and and learning that you are in involved in a community where um, like you mentioned before we started recording that you feel like they're actually family.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: And that's so important when you're um developing and and growing, even in your business.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: It it makes it easier, I think, when you feel like the community is a family-based community and not just always just you know the rind and grind kind of community where you just work, work, work, work, work, and there's no um interpersonal reaction.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And I find that people, you know, there's some people that are just kind of stale and stagnant in that area, and then there's just some people you just want to get to know them because they just are electric, you know.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And I love people that do that.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: I love communities like that.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: I've seen on um on your social media post on Facebook that you have that every morning, and that's Monday through Friday, I believe.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I think it's nine o'clock Eastern time.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, 9 a.m.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Eastern time.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I definitely am gonna check that out.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: I think it sounds like something I definitely would be interested in myself.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Um, and how exciting, you know, for you to have created an app that does all of that.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to check that out as well.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And also, um, you're an author.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: You wrote a book called Blooming Within.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Do you want to tell us a little bit about that?
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Yes, I I did.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: I wrote the book Blooming Within, and uh it was just uh just a journey of personal development, you know, just about the journey of personal development and the app.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I didn't I didn't make the app myself.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Paul Hutchins, he's the developer of the app.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: I'm just an affiliate, but I love it because I make 80% commission and there's no play out there online that makes 80% commission, so that's a great bonus in a modic for that.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: But um, yeah, I just uh wrote that book in the intention of just showing people that it's possible, you know, it's possible for me, it's possible for them.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: It's it's an inside job, you know, it's an inside job.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, kind of like what you said with um your app.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And um it if you don't do it honestly, you you you you deceive yourself, you know.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: And I did the 75 hard challenge.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you're familiar with that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And I'm not, I I there's like a few days where I wanted to lie and say I did it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: But I was like, no, I gotta get up and I've gotta do this because I'm only cheating myself too.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not only that, yeah, I know no one else other than God knows that I'm being dishonest, but I'm cheating my own self.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And you know, if I really want to succeed, I have to be honest about it.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: So I, you know, I ended up starting over because I didn't complete it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, I'm not gonna lie and say I did, you know.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And I started over like six times on that challenge, by the way, but I got through most of it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Um, like I got like 40 days in, and you know, I got pretty far a couple of times, but it was a really hard challenge to do.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I didn't think it would be, and it was really hard.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: But I went from like being a couch potato and just sitting at home.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Um, I take care of my grandma.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: So she sleeps a lot, so I just kind of got lazy, you know, and I was like, I gotta find stuff to do.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: You know, I can't just sit around here and and sit on the couch and eat potato chips all day and and wallow and not being able to do anything.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: There's so many things I can still do even from home.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: And um my daughter said, let's do the 75.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I really don't think I can do that, but uh okay.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: When you complete something, it it gets confetti, you know, it goes ding and it gets confetti.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: So it excites me because you know, I'm completing things, you know.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: That's good.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: And every day when you do it, you get you know, you get better and better every day.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: It's like riding a bicycle.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: So I love that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: It keeps me keeps me focused, keeps me on track, and really helps me.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I'm really curious too about the blood test.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm actually curious about doing that because um, like you said, especially like you know, as you get older, you start going through pre-menopause and menopause and all of that stuff.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: And you're kind of like, I I read about stuff all the time, like high cortisone and and all of these different things, and or cortisol, I mean, and I'm like, do I have that or don't I have that?
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm moody this day, and I'm happy this day, like what is going on with my body, you know?
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: And I think I honestly do think that it's a good idea to find out because when you look in the mirror, you can't see what's all going on inside of you.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: You know, so I love that you said that, that you need to kind of figure out what's happening on the inside so that you can take care of it, you know, not just avoid it because you can't see it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: So I think that's really interesting that they have they have that.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Um so you know, I've I've heard of something similar, but I'm not sure.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Um, but what you what you said sounds like something I'd be really interested in because you just send it in, right?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: You just take a blood test and send it in.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Yes, I have to share it with you.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: You know, I tell people you have to sit down with me at 30-minute consultation because I want you to get the full picture and it's personal, you know.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: So I love that because you can see what's wrong with you.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: And when I seen my test, it was there in my omega-3s and my omega 6s, zero, zero, zero, zero protected.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: And uh, you know, that scared me.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: I said, Whoa, what's going on?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: You know, and so they gave me a solution, so I was happy because I, you know, I had that solution that day.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: And then I, you know, I made some changes, you know, and since then uh I feel like I'm 21 with better judgment.
- 11:09unknown: Good.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they always say if you could go back to your younger self, what would you do?
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Well, take care of it, take care of myself a little better.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I think that's one thing I tell people I was like, if I could go back to my younger self, I would take better care of myself.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: You know, I kind of didn't do that as well as I should have.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: And I should have been more conscientious of my own health and my own body's needs, you know.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And now that we're getting older, you know, and I've had several, I've had like 21 major surgeries.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: I've almost died four times.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: I've had a lot of medical issues.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, every time I wake up off the operating table, I think, Lord, what are you soaking got me here for?
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: But he's got me here for a reason.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's good to know.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: I used to get go get my blood um checked every year um to find out, you know, all of my levels, my vitamin D, my even just even just by my vitamins make a difference, you know, because if you're lacking vitamin D, you know, you're lack, you're lacking, you know.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: And so it's important to know where you're at.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm I'm really curious to find out.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'll have to get that from you.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the crazy thing, the crazy thing though, this I just want to share this thing.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: The crazy thing is I took taking vitamins my whole life.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: Do you know what?
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: If your vital, if your cells, if you're uh unbalanced, your cells aren't reaching you know your body the right way.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: So it's so important to know that it doesn't matter if you're taking supplements, because if your body's unbalanced, it's not reaching right, it's not reaching your cells like it's supposed to.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that's interesting that you say that too, because vitamins, I know.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Um, well, with one of my surgeries, I know I don't absorb them the right way.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I actually need a liquid form, not a pill form, because it doesn't break down enough in my body for me to even get the nutrients from it.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And and you don't want to over, you know, give yourself too much or not give yourself enough.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: You it's really a good idea to find out what your levels are.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: I really think that's it's an important factor.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Um, so that way you know how to balance yourself out.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's a balancing, and you feel so much better when you're when you're leveled out too.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: You don't feel like you're all you know, all these highs and lows and can't sleep and you know, hungry all the time, or have, you know, you want to eat in the middle of the night or whatever, whatever it is that you're going through, are usually symptoms of something being off in your body, you know, because our bodies don't aren't normally meant to be that way.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: God didn't design us that way.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: So I think it's really cool.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to find out about that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: But on this podcast, um, with crushing strongholds, you and I have some similarities with our moms, and I love that that we got to share that before we started recording.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: But I would like for you to share with our listeners um an obstacle or a stronghold that you were able to overcome, you know, through the through your faith in God.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: How did God pull you through it and what did he do?
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Do you mind sharing a story with us today?
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: Not at all.
- 13:58SPEAKER_02: Not at all.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: I've had a lot of loss and a lot of trauma.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: And uh through my journey, God has got my attention by breaking a couple branches, and when I didn't listen, he broke another branch, and then when I didn't listen, he pulled out the roots, and um he all helped me get over bitterness forgiveness and he turned it around he showed me that to have compassion not to uh keep the unforgiveness because it was hurting me.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: So I learned to give it to God.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: I surrendered, I told God I can't do this.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: I apologized and I let it go.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: And um, me and Mama we didn't uh speak for many years because my brother was born and died on my birthday.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: But at the end, we had a beautiful relationship.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: You know, I got to see her one last time and I went out to Branson, Missouri for an event.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: So it was like a win-win.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: I got to meet my friends around the world.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: I got to see mama, and that broke me in a million pieces when she died.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: I didn't know what to do.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: I'll pop and uh God said you gotta get up, you gotta pick up that cross and walk and know that I'm with you, and your mom's your mom's with you.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: And a friend Jesse Jenkins said to me one time, she said grieve as long as you have to, but rejoice in who they were and that and how they made you feel and the memories you had.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: And I picked up my cross and I've walked since that day.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: I believe God, you know, I believe his promises when we see the rainbow of the covenant, promises that someday we're gonna see them again, and I believe that.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: I believe that in my heart, I'm gonna see mom, I'm gonna see my brother, gonna see all the loved ones that I miss.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: I believe that.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's really interesting.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Um, I I was look when I was looking through your your um social media, I realized that you and I share a birthday month as well.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're both we're both in February.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: I'm February 5th, and yours is the 26th, I believe.
- 16:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, it is.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: So we have so much in common.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: We do have stories.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Oh wow.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: That's amazing how God brought us together.
- 16:41SPEAKER_02: I'm very grateful.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: So when you got to when you when when what did you when did you realize that you were at your darkest point after um going through that brokenness and being just crushed after losing your mom?
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: What what what point did you go, okay, I'm at rock bottom.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: I've I've gotta I've gotta do something here, or this is going to this is gonna destroy me, you know.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, because I I know that I I it took me a minute.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: It it wasn't overnight, and I still grieve my mom like you do.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And um hearing your story is very touching, you know, because it's so relatable to my story, but um, you know, I've had regrets, I've had guilt, I've had shame, I've had, you know, all of the things I wish I could have done better to keep her here, you know.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: But when she was gone and gone for good, I was like it devastated me to no end.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And I went to a really ugly place for a little while.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people didn't like me for a little while because I just because I just was so, like you said, bitter and I was angry and I was angry with God over it.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: And it's really hard to be, you know, angry at somebody um for taking somebody away from you.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: So at what point did you realize, you know, I can't be angry at God anymore?
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: I've got to step up and I I actually need to lean on God instead of be angry because he's the one who's gonna actually pull me through this, you know.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I was laying on the couch and I wanted to die.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: I laid on the couch for weeks, yeah, and it got to be a couple months, and then another month.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: And I said, I got two kids, and God's got me, and I can do this.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna pick up my cross and I'm gonna walk and I'm gonna share the gifts that God got me.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna share how He made me overcome these things, and how I if I can do it, you can do it.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Is it easy?
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: Absolutely not.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: Doing the inside work is the hardest thing you'll ever do.
- 18:53SPEAKER_02: You have to leave people places and things, but then God will replace them with good things.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: Good people and uh Yeah, it took my son's agree to say this ain't my mom.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: And that hit me hard.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: You know, he said, What am I gonna do without you?
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: And I got up and I hear me and uh you know it's been a long journey.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's uh it's been a long journey uh the last couple years, but every day gets easier.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Every day I plug into my car, every day I'm learning, I'm growing, I'm plugging into um you know the community more.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: I'm sharing more of myself.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: In the space, maybe I can help one person.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: My intention is if I could just help one person just getting through being stuck in their head with that stinking thinking, or if I can help one person online, or if I can help one person with their health anything, one person a day, I'll be grateful.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: You know, sometimes yeah, I know I've had someone say, you know, I listen to your your video, you know, you turn my day around, and I'm like, thank you, Father, that's so okay, you know.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: If somebody's listening and I made them smile or I turned their day around, I'm very grateful.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: I'm very grateful.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: I think that um when we when we take our our burdens and we throw them in the trash, and then like you said, pick up our cross and because God God wants to walk us through.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: He has such a good purpose for our life, but we get stuck in these strongholds and they they take us captive and we have no freedom.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: And God doesn't want us walking in that, he doesn't want us trapped, he doesn't want us stuck, he wants us walking in the freedom that he's already given us.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Jesus died for our freedom, like we talked about, like your post that I saw.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: I love that post.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: You know, that that you know, freedom wasn't free, it was sacrificed.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And Jesus made that sacrifice.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: And and when we start thinking about those things, um, what God has done for us, you know, I went from being mad to being thankful that me and my mom we reunited together.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: We had three years of mother-daughter time together that we didn't have before, where it was just chaotic all the time, fighting all the time, hating all the time.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: You know, it was just it was nonsense.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: And then um, you know, we had a a few good blowouts, you know, where we just yelled it all out, cried it all out, screamed it all out, and um then we hugged it all out.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: And then we went to church and prayed it all out.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Because we you know, God took us to church and we went and prayed together and worshiped together and and we still had our moments where we fought, you know, because she's still her and I'm still me and we're both mules and we're stubborn and we both have our ways.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: And and um I you know, I just got to a point in my life that my tolerance was only gonna put up with so much.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: And um I didn't have to put up with certain things.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: So we would fight.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: And some some people would be like, God, you two drive me nuts.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: How do you guys live in the same house?
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: You know, I said, Well, we don't do this every day.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just, you know, we don't do this every day.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: I go, you know, but we have to get it out of our system once in a while, you know.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: But um, I mean, but I I wouldn't let nobody else take care of her because nobody could take care of her the way I could.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I knew I knew everything about her inside and out.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Even when she went to the nursing home and it was in rehab, I said, um, I would walk in and I'd be like, I don't know what you got medication you got her on, but get her off from it.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: It's not working, you know, and they'd be like, How do you know by looking at her?
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: And I said, because that's how well I know her.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, I was just I I finally just would take her out of the nursing home and take her home.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: I broke her out of a nursing home out the back door one time.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: I walked in that nursing home that her doctor put her in, and I said, She is not staying here.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And I was waiting for the nurse, and I told my son, he my son and my daughter were with me, and it it was right around the corner from where she lived.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: I said, Go to grandma's house and get her electric wheelchair and drive it over here.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe at the back door.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: And we broke her out.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, that is so cool.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: So we took, I mean, we took such good care of my mom, even though her and I fought all the time.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: And and uh yeah, I'm I'm like you, it's almost been seven years.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: I don't know um what what your death anniversary is for your mom.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: When was that for you?
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: Uh I think it was I you know what, I don't remember exactly, but I think it was like in June.
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: June.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: And my uh my brother took care of my mom, so you know, uh it was hard for me because I was in Rhode Island and she was in Missouri, so we could just talk on the phone, but I looked forward to that every day.
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: So didn't she, and that brought us so close.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Like God brought us back together again with the word of God, and and I got over that anger and I got over that bitterness, and I replaced it with gratitude.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: I just replaced everything with gratitude.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: I said, Father, thank you for the stuff that's ugly.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: Thank you for the you know, it's either a lesson or a blessing.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: You're trying to teach me something here, God, and you know, when I don't listen, you're getting my attention, and I'm listening now.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: So your will, not mine.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: And uh I was blessed to go to Missouri and I was blessed to see Mom again, and uh was blessed to talk to her, but it was very short.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: But every day she's with me, even though I can't see her, you know, her spirit lives in me.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: You know, I keep pictures of people that have passed that I love around me because they live in my heart.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: You know, they they do, they're always with me.
- 25:29SPEAKER_02: They guide me.
- 25:30SPEAKER_02: They're saying, Don't quit, I believe in you, get up, you know, and that's what it is.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: It's about getting up and you know, picking up your cross and walking and stop the pity part party.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: You know, you can't be pitiful and powerful at the same time.
- 25:48SPEAKER_02: No, he said, I've got a plan for you, and you ain't gonna get there laying on this couch.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: So you need to get up, you need to wipe your eyes, and you need to step forward every day, and don't look back, he said.
- 26:02SPEAKER_02: Don't look back, keep your eyes on me, you know.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: And I we always remember that somebody said to me one day, you know, don't go to the phone, go to the throne.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: And I've done that ever since.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: And everything I've taken to prayer, everything I take to prayer every day.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: That's really good advice, actually.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: That's great advice.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: I I think it's important that we we remember that no matter what, we're always gonna have a part of them with us, you know.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: And and me and my daughter, we laugh, and um she's so funny.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: We have so many comical stories.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, we are just we're nuts.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: Our family's just nuts.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: But my mom used to sing this song all the time.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: I think Willie Nelson sang it.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm trying to think of what it's called, and my my daughter thought my mom made it up.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: She just thought she made it because she never heard it on the radio or nothing.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: She just heard my mom singing it all the time around her, you know.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: And one day she was in the in the car or somewhere and she heard the song on the radio, and she calls me up and she said, Are you kidding?
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: This is a real song.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: She goes, I thought grandma made that stupid song up, you know.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: She goes, She sang that song all the time.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: And, you know, and I we just got to cracking up.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: So we, you know, her anniversary, her death anniversary was coming up, and then her birth her birthday was coming up, and and um we always do stuff around that for her, but we always talk about that.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: So now we play songs that she used to listen to, and some of them are, you know, she really liked them, but we thought they were ridiculous.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: But I'm sure she didn't like all of our music choices either, you know, so we can relate with it, but we would just laugh at it, and you know, some of the artists that she liked, and and my daughter's like, I've never even heard of that person ever.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Who is that?
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: It was Freddie Fender.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Uh and that song Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: My mom loved that song, yeah, yeah.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: And um, well, she loved love, you know, she loved music anyway.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: So before she died, I took her to see um Crystal Gell, and she got to meet her, and we got to meet um Cheryl Lynn, her sister, and I did not know that Loretta Lynn, Cheryl Lynn, and Crystal Gell were all sisters.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: I had no idea.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: And I got up there and I go, Mom, that lady looks like Loretta Lynn.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: And it was Cheryl Lynn, they had the middle sister.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and she goes, Well, yeah, that's Loretta Lynn's sister.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: And I go, I thought that was Crystal Gale's sister.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: She goes, They're all sisters.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: And I said, All this time I didn't know.
- 28:33unknown: I didn't know this.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: But I took her up there to meet Crystal Gale, and and you know, they have security around her because people pull her hair because her hair is so beautiful, clear to the floor.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: And so my mom just went up there and she, you know, was able to meet her and get her signature and all of that.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: So I mean, I had some really good, good moments with my mom, but I miss them.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: And I know that when we moved here to Idaho from California, I had plans.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Like my daughter was gonna take her to Ireland.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: We were getting we were working on getting her passport, she was gonna take her there.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: And um, because my mom really wanted to go to Ireland.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: We're like, okay, my daughter's like, I want to go to Ireland too, so we were gonna take this trip.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: And we had so many things planned out for her, and then she just just didn't wake up one morning.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: And I was I thought, I mean, I about lost my mind now.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, I literally lost my mind when that happened.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: I told the paramedic that he'd better get down there and bring her back because I wasn't having it.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: I was so upset.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: I was like, I can't do that.
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: It was a train wreck.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, it was so bad.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: My daughter was like, I have never seen you like this before.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: And she was at work, and when I called her, she goes, I didn't even know who you were on the phone when you called.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And she goes, All I knew is when I hung up, I had to get home now.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: And she came running home, and thank goodness my my daughter got me through it because if it wouldn't have been for her, I don't I don't know if I'd even be here.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: I I honestly don't know that I'd be alive because I I contemplated my own life a few times and um with having so much regret and um and just being so frustrated over the whole thing.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: And and my daughter was so good with me.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: She just put up with me, you know, and put up with me.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: And and every year on her um her death anniversary, I would have a really good cry.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: I would just cry it out, you know.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: And then after I'd cry it out, I'd wipe my tears away and say, Mom, I love you and I miss you, and then get up the next day and keep on going because I I had to quit.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: You know, I had to quit.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: It was destroying me.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: And so I can totally relate with what you're saying because it that that brokenness, nobody can fix that but God.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: There is no one that can fix it because they're not coming back, you know, and that poor paramedic.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you get down there and you bring her back.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Like he's like, if I could, honey, I would.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: And I was just devastated.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: So it was such a shock for her to leave it, you know, and she was only 73.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: And I was like, she's too young, and we had all these plans, God.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Like, and you know, we were still working out that our new bond that we had, and I was really, really beside myself and just went to a really dark place.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: And I literally had to sit at Jesus' feet for three years and just get into ministry and um dive into his word and figure out why it is that he would take my mom away from me, you know.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: I really had to go there.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: And Job was a huge story for me.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: I love the book of Job because um God doesn't even explain to Job why he did what he did with Job, because he says, I don't have to.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: I'm the God of this universe.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: I do not owe you an explanation, just like we tell our kids, I don't have to explain myself to you.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: We're his children, you know, we're God's children.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: He doesn't he doesn't have to give us an explanation.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: Although we feel like we need to be it, you know, that justification.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: He's he's like, I don't have to give it.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: You you're gonna get through this, I promise.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: And I had to literally work that out and lean on those promises and believe in it and have faith in it to get myself back, or I was gonna be a goner, you know.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: The enemy was about to win, you know, and I was like, I'm not gonna let the enemy win today.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: So yeah, so I can totally relate with um kind of what you've gone through and and and whatnot.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: And um it's exciting that, you know, you have a good relationship with your kids.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: And it's crazy when we think about what we would have done to ourselves.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: But thinking, man, we have kids to think about.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: We have, you know, because sometimes we get in that, like you said, that pity party, poor me, selfish moment.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: We become the victim instead of becoming victorious.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: And um sometimes you have to go through that and get over that hurdle before God can actually do a work in you, you know.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: A lot of stuff manifested for me that I didn't even know I had going on with me until my mom died.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: All this stuff came to the surface, and um, I had some really deep, ugly roots that really needed to go.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: So that's the same thing that happened to me when my mom died.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: I broke in a million pieces.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: But I am so grateful for the word of God.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I am that's exciting.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: I am so grateful for the word of God because it it saved me, you know, it helped me so much.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: And I stand on his promises, you know.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: You know, he'll never leave us nor forsake us.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: And I believe that, you know, I believe I stand on his promises.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: I agree.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: I I think that you know, we need to, you know, we need to be um mindful.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: You know, God, God designed us with an assignment and a purpose, and we allow sometimes um these strongholds to hold us back.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: And we can't we can't move forward.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Like you said, you you know, you were so scared to come on today and and you're like, I've never done a podcast, and you're just kind of like, I just have to do it.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: You know, I just have to do it.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be okay, you know.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: And and it is okay, you know.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: We're you know, we're just talking.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: We're just talking about life and we're talking about some things that we've been through, and and um, you know what, sometimes when you share your testimony, it helps other people.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: You know, it really does.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: It lets them know that, you know what, I have broken pieces in me too, and if they got through it, I can get through it, you know.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: It helps strengthen people, you know.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: We we we strengthen in numbers, you know, sometimes.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: So I think that, you know, that's why I like this podcast so much, is because I feel like it's so uplifting when we share our stories, and then people are like, oh man, you know, like you said in the beginning with the community, and you're not alone.
- 34:36SPEAKER_00: You're not alone in it.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: And I think that's wonderful.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: I I'm excited to check it out.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, you got you've had piqued my curiosity, and I can't wait to find out more about it.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna look into all of that, and I definitely am gonna share a lot of that with our listeners.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: So, but I have a question for you before we start wrapping up here.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Um, if there was one piece of advice you could give to our listeners um about overcoming that broken place in your life, what would you say to them to encourage them?
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Well, I would tell my listeners today that don't ever let any stronghole hold you back, push through it and remember this, picture this how um Superman saves Lois Lane.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 35:27SPEAKER_02: He catches him her when she's fallen.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: He does the same thing for us.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: He catches us, he loves us, he knows every hero.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: And as always, do something good for somebody else in the space, you know that they can't repay.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: That's really good.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: That's really awesome, actually.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: Um, sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own our own pity parties that we forget other people.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Um and when you uh start praying for other people, your problems don't seem to be as big.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: Have you ever noticed that?
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Yes, right.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: If we all took our problems, we all threw them in a basket, we take our own back.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: Somebody out there with bigger problems.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: So be grateful for your problems because they're teaching you something in the process.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he, you know, God doesn't promise that we wouldn't have trials and tribulations.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: He just said he would he promises to get you through them.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: And so we have to lean on him and trust that he's gonna work all things out for our good because that's what his word says.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: And um, it doesn't say that he wants us to be miserable and you know, and and and and and you know, live, you know, in tragedy.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: And and sometimes, you know, tragic things happen, but that doesn't mean we have to stay in that tragic situation.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: We do not have to live in the trauma that we went through.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: We don't have to continue to um dwell in the dark places.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: We can overcome that.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: Do you know who Mandisa is?
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: She's a singer, Christian singer.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, she just passed away.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Um I've I've went to her four of her concerts and she sings the song called Overcomer, and I love it.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: She sings with Toby Mack too, but um, she just passed away a couple years ago.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: I I already miss her a lot.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: I've actually met her.
- 37:20SPEAKER_00: Um, I took my foster kids to one of her concerts and we got to meet her, but wonderful, wonderful, wonderful lady.
- 37:27SPEAKER_00: But the song Overcomer teaches me that um we can't get anywhere unless we overcome.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: Anywhere, you know, and it doesn't look good on us, by the way.
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: We we we may think it does, right?
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: It really doesn't look attractive.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: There's nothing about a kid throwing a tantrum in the middle of the floor, you know, in the middle of the store, and you're like, what is up with that?
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: Well, as adults, we do that.
- 37:53SPEAKER_02: Right, we do, we do.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: So I I think that I I think about her song and her music, and I I listen to it a lot because I'm I miss it, but um, it keeps me keep keeps my mindset focused on um not, like you said, not looking back, pulling off the rearview mirror, leave the past in the past, think about the good, not the bad.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: And and that's how you overcome it.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: You know, you get down to the root of the problem, you start digging it up, and then you go, okay, this is what I need to do to conquer this.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: And you don't have to do it alone.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we just sit around and feel sorry for ourselves because we think we are alone.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: God's never gonna leave us alone, he's gonna put the right people in our path, I think.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: So I think it's exciting when we think about all of the stuff that God does.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: We just don't pay attention to it, you know.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: We just open our eyes a little bit wider, we could just see a little bit more, you know.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: Right, that's so true.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: There's so much to be grateful for, really.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: There's so much to be grateful for.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: So, well, I I'm gonna start wrapping up, but I just wanted to say it has been such a pleasure just meeting you and talking to you, and I've really enjoyed your time and your company today, and I can't wait to get to know you more.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to go in and um learn more about your online business and your app and and that blood test.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: Uh, you gotta send me all that.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna I'm gonna share this, you know, with our listeners.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna share all of this good stuff.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Um, even your book, I wanna I want to look into that and um whatnot.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna look up a couple of these people that we talked about before we got on here.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Um, Paul Hutchinson and oh, that one book, Matthew Watkins.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: The dream gives.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, everybody's gonna read that because that book will set your soul on fire.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: It's that good because it's about you, it's about the strongholds, it's about the giants you're gonna face, and it's about overcoming those giants and trusting God.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: It's just amazing.
- 39:56SPEAKER_02: I suggest it to everybody.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: Thank you for for sharing that with me.
