For some reason, my brain keeps wanting to say February, and I have no idea why. ⁓ it is Tuesday. As you're listening to this show, Driving Down the Road in Your Car, I'll be either dropping off the Crop Goblins or potentially picking up So What If from the TikTok is coming up. To visit again. I'll be picking him up at the airport today. So that's kind of exciting. I also have ⁓ some of my contractors coming back out to the property today, ⁓ which is also exciting. ⁓ they should be getting started on the retaining wall or at least getting the materials here for it. I don't know. I don't know. It's been a fucking process, man. Rome wasn't built in a day, but I don't think it took this long. ⁓ anyway, so happy Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen. I hope your morning is going fantastic. I I hope everybody had a good Monday. My Monday was pretty decent. We took out the boat. We we went, we dropped the kids, we took the boat out, ⁓ went and did our run of our errands beforehand, and then went and did some more errands after the fact. But I I've been on this kick lately of like I need to go out and be more active. I need to go out, I need to be more active. So I follow a pretty strict blood type based diet. Okay, like that's what I do, that's how I live my life. And it is a very restrictive diet, but once you get used to it and you learn basically what you can get from what restaurants and things like this, and you know how to shop and what to shop for, it's like it's not that bad. It's it's okay, right? ⁓ just imagine living in a world where like pizzas and cheeseburgers and bacon don't exist, and that's basically my life. Okay. So ⁓ I bring that up to say that I've also discovered With the blood type-based diet. And since I'm like so in tuned with it and I like it so much, and I've actually found out there's blood type-based exercises. There's exercises based on your blood type that your body will inherently do better at, will reduce more stress for you, and will not like murder your ass when you're doing that. Right. ⁓ and this was something I didn't know. And then I Started looking into these exercises and I was like, shit, a lot of these things I like to do. Like, so a couple big ones on there are simply just walking, hiking, swimming. I love doing those things. I love walking. I love hiking. I love swimming. Like those are things I really enjoy doing. And it talks about how these are some of the best exercises for my particular blood type, which makes sense probably why I like them. But it also throws something else out there like yoga. I've never done yoga. I don't really have an intention on starting a yoga class tomorrow, but I am more in line with trying it now, I guess since it's on there and these other things make more sense. But I say all that to say this. I've been trying to get out and get more active. I've been trying to walk I've been trying to get out and and walk like an extra ten miles a week. Okay, like minimum. I used to do that in a hike, you know, and not all that long ago. So, but I haven't had the time to do these things. So for me, it's been kind of like, let's at least just get out of the fucking house today and get like three or four miles in, because that's better than sitting here. Like, let's at least do that. I can knock out three miles pretty quick. ⁓ just walking at a good standard pace. I I can devote an hour to that and be back to the house, you know. So ⁓ I was talking to my buddy on the phone and he was telling me how he's experimenting not experimenting, but he's using a weighted vest. And he's saying how I should experiment with a weighted vest doing my walks. I was like, okay, well, maybe. I said, dude, I can't justify buying a weighted vest, like just to try, you know. Like they're not exactly on the cheapo side, you know. And I was like, Well, I said, I still have body armor here. My body armor weighs like thirty five or thirty thirty-five pounds. Without magazines and extra gear and stuff in it, it weighs thirty-five pounds. So I was like, Well We'll go ahead, we'll throw that on. We see how we do with the thirty five pounds. Well, it was fine. ⁓ I did there was a couple takeaways and one was absolutely horrible. So halfway through this, about two miles in probably, I developed a huge blood blister on the bottom of my foot. Like on the pad beneath your toes. Developed a huge blood blister. I'll have to post a picture of this on the Snapchat or something. ⁓ but developed this huge b blood blister, and I'm halfway into this. you know, walk with this weighted vest. I can't drop the vest and leave it there. That's stupid. I can't, you know, turn around and go back. I mean I'm I'm halfway into it, you know. So I fought through it and got back and and my wife had to end up like ⁓ opening a a little hole in my foot to drain it, because that's how much blood was in there. It was about, I don't know, an inch and a half in diameter, just this blood pocket. Never had that happen before, but it was the added weight. Now what's the big takeaways outside of that suck part was Usually if I'm going on a walk, I don't start to feel feel it until about two miles in. I felt it at about a mile and a half yesterday with the added weight. Another thing I noticed is I actually got the stomach the the stomach pains like runners get when, you know, you get like the trapped air pocket or whatever. I had one of those hit me. And then the other thing I noticed is I I was sweating so much more with the extra weight. So it was definitely a good workout. I think maybe going out with thirty five pounds initially was a little overzealous. Maybe I ought to start with like ten pound increments and work my way up, or I just say screw it and I fight through it and hope my feet don't go too shit on me again. ⁓ yeah, but it was ⁓ definitely an an very a very painful thing to walk a couple miles with a blood blister like a little bit bigger than a fifty cent piece on your foot. Anyway, we'll be right back after these messages. Can't get enough of Jester Dooms? Check out his other show, It's Doomsday Podcast, available on all podcast platforms. That's It's Doomsday Podcast. Back to the show. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Doom Daily Show. If you guys haven't already done so, make sure to like, share, and subscribe to the show. We greatly appreciate it. It definitely helps us out a lot when people actually share out the show. Okay. You know, I I'm at one of those I'm one of those points where it's like there's nothing really piquing my interest. So we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna read an article that was something that did pique my interest just because of my lifestyle, and maybe maybe you'll get some entertainment value out of it, I guess. I know. On the Epic Times, US airports get nearly one billion dollars for family friendly upgrades by Kimberly Hayek. The Federal Aviation Administration has invested nine hundred and seventy million dollars to make airports more family friendly, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced on Monday. Airports in forty-five states will get upgrades that will include new child play spaces, mothers' rooms, also known as nursing rooms, family security lanes, and sensory rooms for children with special needs. All right, so let's let's let's tap into this for a second, okay? I travel every year I'm at the airport. Right. I'm flying somewhere. Okay. And I could never think of a scenario where I would have to put my child in a play space. And I'm at the airport with a bunch of strangers. I don't want my kids out of my fucking sight. Okay? And I don't want to have to have one more thing for my kids to be like, ⁓ look, there's a place we can go play. Can we go over there? Can we go over there? Can we go over there? No. I don't want to go over there. I don't want you getting sick with all these kids that traveled with different germs and things like that. Like, no. I d I don't I don't think that that's a good use of I don't think that's a good use of funding. I just I don't. I think that's that's a waste. ⁓ teach your kids to be good and be patient because airlines suck and there's no adult play places and there's not gonna be any. So have them embrace the suck at a young age. When we go to the airport and we're sitting there and our flights delayed, my kids have snacks because dad packs snack packs. We my kids have it all made. you know, when we're traveling. I I take a big gallon Ziploc bag and I fill it full of treats for ⁓ and there's everything in there. There's trail mix in there, there's some candy in there, there's beef jerky in there, there's maybe some small bags of chips in there, maybe some like smart food popcorn, things like that are in that bag so they can munch and hang out and relax and watch the planes come in and it's fine. ⁓ and then also it's, you know, usually the kids have a device, a tablet, a video game, a something to occupy them. So the idea that we need to invest money in into Playplaces and airports, I just think is fucking stupid. You know, I'd I'd rather you see bring playplaces back to McDonald's so those little fat shit kids can get some damn exercise after they choke down their chicken nuggets. But hey, what do I know? To go into the sensory area, sensory rooms for children with special needs, I don't I don't th this is a hard one for me because I want to be sympathetic to the needs of the special needs children. But at the same time, how many special needs children are flying? How many children are actually special needs and how many are just misdiagnosed by their doctors? Okay. And then how have they been getting through these flights and everything up until now? So the idea that a sensory room is needed at airports is just, I mean, it's just one of those things where it's like, I feel bad for the kids and and the ones that actually have, you know, the ones who are actually autistic and maybe need these sensory rooms, like I I feel bad for them. But I don't I still can't see putting funding into this as much as I could see. maybe little small things at the gate, right? Like fuck fuck the separate play places, fuck the sensory rooms and and all this extra stuff. Why not just give the kids something to do at each airport gate? Right? Why not why not do that? And the other thing too is like who wants to spend this much time at the airport to to do these things? I want to go to the airport. I want to get on the fucking plane. I want to get the fuck out of there. I hate being at the airport. Okay. Now, as far as the the nursing rooms for the nursing mothers I can get down with that mainly because I'm a big proponent of children should drink mother's breast milk and trying to pump that shit in a bathroom is just unsanitary. I don't like that. So I can get behind this to an extent. There doesn't need to be one at every gate. There doesn't need to be one you need them, but you don't need to get excessive with it, right? Like that's the whole thing. But you know, again, if we didn't live in such a crude fucking society. ⁓ you wouldn't need to have separate rooms for these because I mean a titty's a titty. You pop out a titty, you're feeding a kid. Who gives a shit? If somebody's offended by it, that's their fucking problem. That's nature, man. That's that's humans, that's nature. You're a human. You you shouldn't be bothered if somebody's popping a titty out to feed their kid. That's fucking that's how we live, that's how we survive. That's a natural thing. It should not bother anybody. Anyway. And then to go back to if you're say, well, you know, mothers, you know, they the it might be a woman who's insecure, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, she got knocked up, so she can't be that fucking insecure. Okay. All right. I'm just just fucking saying. Anyway. ⁓ the new program is called the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Airport Terminal Program. This administration is focused on making travel happier and more convenient for American families. The golden age of travel includes a family first agenda agenda, Duffy said in a statement. We're making airports inviting spaces for parents and children to relax and recharge prior to boarding. All right, so I want to go take a step back here to the previous paragraph when they talked about Family security lanes. There's been many times I was at the airport and they grouped my family together and they they gave us priority and we've we've just kind of went through the checkpoints pretty quickly, right? And it wasn't too bad. The idea of family security lanes to me is gonna it's gonna get convoluted just kind of like an HOV lane gets convoluted and what you're gonna have happen is, ⁓ this is my dog, he's my family, ⁓ I'm with my husband. That's my family. So in our brains, we think, okay, this is going to be mom, dad, and a handful of kids. And in reality, it's going to be anybody that claims a family member is going to try to get into these lines because you're flying as a family, not as a solo person. But then on the flip side, what happens when the solo businessman who flies all the time is getting the shaft because he has to wait while he's watching, you know, groups of families go through the quicker lane. And then where are you getting the extra TSA agents? Anyway, we'll be right back after these messages. Hey, producer Scooter here. I am your host, Jester Dooms, the email. Doom Daily Show at gmail.com, everywhere on social media at Jester Dooms. And don't forget to check out the website, www.gestersvoice.com. All right. Now back to the Doom Daily Show. Yes, we're back. Okay, so The TSA agents, I mean th you see them, there's a lot of them, but I mean that that agency hurts for people just like anybody else does. And it's not a very glorious job either. I know somebody that worked at the TSA and they hated it. They couldn't wait to get out of there. Anyway. ⁓ da duh. Airports will receive between two million and ten million each. Topilo regional airport in Mississippi, which services around thirty thousand passen passengers annually. We'll receive two million for a family friendly security lane. Two million for a family friendly security lane. Let that sink in. While the mid-sized Donald Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, which serves only eight point six million passengers annually, will get ten million for new restrooms, mothers' rooms, and a sensory room. A large hub of Boston's Logan in Boston's Logan International Airport, which serves forty three point two million passengers a year, will receive. two point eight million to renovate for kids' play areas, to renovate four kids' play areas. Four is in the number four, like four separate kids play areas. While the massive Dallas Fort Worth International Airport with over eighty five point six million passengers a year will get eight million to update five restrooms with family friendly features. The FAA is moving quickly to get those investments out. Out the door and into airports nationwide. FAA administrator Brian Bedford said in a statement. These projects will help create a more welcoming and accessible travel experience for families while demonstrating our commitment to improving America's airports at record speed. Okay, now let me let me let me pause right there. Is anybody you guys out there as you're driving down the road your car, are you scratching your head yet asking why are they doing this? Are you doing that yet? Because I hope you fucking are, 'cause I'm gonna tell you why once we get through this article. Duffy had announced the plan dubbed the Make Travel Friendly Again campaign five months earlier. In december twenty twenty five, the transportation department had asked airports to submit projects focused on family friendly travel needs, including children's play areas, exercise spaces, mothers rooms, nursing pods, family security lanes, and sensory rooms. The department set aside roughly one billion in grants to improve airport experience for families and provide healthier food options. Duffy made the announcement in December alongside Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other health influencers. In quotations, it's not been a healthy experience for them, Kennedy said, referring to the three million Americans who pass through the nation's airports each year, adding that the airports are where healthy diets go to die. The food that's available at the airport, a lot of it tastes very good, but is not very good for you, Kennedy said. It's deep fried food, it's sugar bombs, it's ultra processed food, and all of them are going to leave you sicker before you sicker than before you ate them. Kennedy also said airports lack nursing spaces, nursing pods, and nursing rooms. The HHS is encouraging mothers to breastfeed babies as a long as long as possible, according to Kennedy. And quotes there is no better food for your brain, your gut, micro. microboom, microbiome, whatever, your gut health, right? For your physical growth, for your emotional growth, and what's in God given breast milk, Kennedy said. And he's right. I agree with that. All right. Now let's let's get into this. So a lot of people have been opting for traveling by vehicle and getting away from the airlines, mainly because ticket prices keep going up and services on airplanes keep going down. Seats kept keep getting smaller and more uncomfortable and flights Be keep getting more overpacked. Right? Flying is not a good fucking experience. But if you want to go somewhere, you gotta fly. Right? We go overseas every year. We gotta fly. We can't fucking drive there. It takes a month to get there by boat. We gotta fucking fly. All right. That's that's it. So we've landed on our airline that we like that we prefer that we fly with every year. And I would prefer to just stick with that airline and not have any others because so far they've been about the best. We when it comes to ⁓ services, when it comes to the food quality, all that stuff, it's it's the best. Now what they need to fucking do, what they need to fucking do, is they need to simply lessen the cost of airline tickets, and then by God, more families would start showing up at the airport. I mean, it's that it's that simple. I mean, when you look at when you look at what the cost of traveling is, it kind of makes you sick to your stomach just to realize that's just to get somewhere. That's not even to spend money while you're on vacation. That's just to get there, okay? Absolutely sickening. ⁓ we'll be right back after these messages. Need a break from reality? Well sometimes I do too, and the place I go to take that break is the Beans and Weenie Show. You can find the link at lingtree.com backslash BWD crew. The Beans and Weenie Show where chaos and common sense wage war and you get a front row seat. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Doom Daily Show. I'm your host, Jester Dooms, the email, Doom Daily Show at gmail.com, the website www.jestersvoice.com, and everywhere on social media at Jester Dooms. Okay. So whenever you realize that the biggest cost of travel is the airlines, it starts having you make other fucking plans, right? So When we go overseas every year, our biggest fucking expense is the airline tickets. It's not the rental car, it's not where we stay, it's not the food we buy, nothing. It is fucking flying there. That is the biggest expense. And that could be said for a lot of different family vacations. If you got a family of four and say you're flying from like, I don't know, ⁓ let's just pick a fucking say you're flying from Atlanta to Miami and you're like, okay, this is gonna be ⁓ You know, this is gonna be a four hour flight. I don't know what the time frame is. I'm say I'm assuming it's around four hours. So you're flying into Miami for your vacation, you got a family of four, and then you realize, you know, each person's ticket's about two hundred and fifty bucks and there's four of you guys, and you realize shit, it's a thousand dollars round trip to get to fucking Miami. And then we have to rent a car when we're there so we can get around, or we gotta take an Uber, but we'd rather rent a car and then we have to pay for lodging and we're only gonna be there for four days. And then you start to add up these costs, you're like, wow, the biggest expense is the fucking airline. That's it. And then you start thinking to yourself, man, I should just rent a car. And you're like, well, that kills two birds with one stone because now we get out of the airline tickets. And what? Atlanta to fucking Miami's what? What is that? Is that like a ⁓ ten hour drive, twelve hour drive, something like that? And you realize, like, shit, you know, we get there twice as quick as we fly, but we'll save half the fucking money if we drive. And that's what a lot of people are doing. So The idea of making the airports more family friendly, I mean, o okay, sure. In certain capacity, sure. Investing this kind of money when you could simply be like, you know what, we're gonna run a special this year, we're gonna reduce airline tickets ⁓ and we're gonna make people remember why the fuck they fly. Okay? Like maybe they come up with some crazy thing and they say, hey, listen, what we're gonna do is on, you know, ⁓ any flight any domestic flight that's under X amount of miles, we're gonna do a discounted rate. Any flight that's Going overseas, we're gonna do this much of a discounted rate. Any flight that's going X amount of miles from west to east, we'll discount, right? Whatever. Or discounted return tickets because you gotta fly back, you know, something something like that, you know. But that's not what we're doing. So you're gonna reinvest money into making this airport more friendly and then, you know, like g give us back fucking, you know, make better services on the airlines too. You wanna talk about healthy food? Has anybody ate? Airline food that you eat when you travel internationally, that shit sucks. I pack my own food when I'm on a ten hour flight. Okay? Because the stuff that comes around that they fucking microwave up that they serve you, man, it is not good food. It is fucking trash. It is not fantastic. And I go back, you know, I've got I've got the thing I do, I pack my protein bars, I pack some some turkey jerky sticks, I pack some snacks and some trail mix and I pack all the shit and I just fucking snack the whole flight, watch some movies, whatever. 'Cause a lot of time when they bring that food around, it's not in my blood type based diet anyway, so I can't fucking eat it. And I'm sorry, but the just it's not it's just not good food. It's not. It's not good for you. It doesn't taste good. It's it's trash ass food. Okay. You'd be better off making MREs on the plane, ⁓ and eating those fucking things versus some of the shit that they're serving you. Okay. A packet of tuna is better than the bullshit that they're serving you on the fucking plane. All right. So I think it maybe needs to kind of go back to the airlines a little bit like, you know, maybe you maybe you start putting caps on these fucking ticket prices. Maybe you start offering discounted rates, you'll get more people in the damn airports. Because in my mind, when I said to you a little while ago, I said, ask yourself why they're doing this. Why they're doing this has to be to get more people to fly again. You know? And I heard talks probably, I don't know, two, three years ago when everybody was talking about bringing back the fl family road trip because the airlines are so goddamn ridiculous. And this is their whole gambit here of what to do and how to do it and how to get more people in the airport and make it better for families to travel so they stop renting cars and stop doing road trips and they come fly. Yeah, that sounds like that sounds like what's going on to me. Now I did want to also tap in on this ⁓ this health healthy food at the airports thing. All right. So let me break this down for a second. It's not that you cannot find healthy food at the airport. It's just not as prevalent. Like you can go through the airport and you could find an apple, you could find an orange, you could find a banana. Okay. You could find some fresh fruits. I can't say there's been too many airports where I couldn't find a fucking apple. All right. Now, when it comes to healthy food options, like you'll see a lot of these wraps, like you'll s find like a ⁓ a turkey bacon Swiss wrap or you'll find like a Caesar chicken wrap or something like that. And a lot of the times that is the better option from getting, you know, food from the fast food restaurant that's conveniently placed inside the airport. But I do want to also point out this is an American problem. It's an American problem. When we fly into Athens, there are bakeries inside the airport making real fucking food. Okay. When I flew into fucking Amsterdam, there's like legit real coffee, real food being made at that airport. Okay. This is a this is a US based fatty Tubby McFad fuck. problem where we keep garbage food everywhere. This is a US based problem. Okay. Now part of the reason is is because the corporations run this fucking country. So if there's an airport and there's a space to make money there, you bet your ass, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, McDonald's, Wendy's, one of these fuckers is grabbing it. Right. And then let's not let's not sell it short though. ⁓ a lot of the larger the larger airports have actual sit-down restaurants where you can order food in the airport. Okay. So you can go in there and you can find yourself self-healthier options. All right. Like maybe you go in there and you get like a good, you know, chicken feta cheese salad, or you you get yourself like a good Caesar salad, or maybe, you know, they have like just steak and steamed vegetables. You know, maybe they have better options at those sit down restaurants. But the reality is fast food is crap food and people are in a rush when they go to the airport. So what are your healthier options going to be? That's the other question I have. Because when you break it down, like when we talk about like healthy eating and blah blah blah, like people like gravitate toward the idea of like Subway. No, that shit's packed full of preservatives and trash too, man. Unless you're getting a salad from Subway that has like none of their fucking processed meats on it, it's still not good, right? Anyway. That's about all the time we got for today. I wanna appreciate everybody that came in to listen to the Doom Daily Show today. If you haven't done so already, make sure to like, share, and subscribe to the show. ⁓ and that's it. Producer Scooter, we're out of here. If you would hit that button, sir. Facts and opinions. This is the Doom Dale.
