Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: All right, it is one leg up Alex Media with
- 0:08Speaker 1: the great Terminillos. Take Lou Terminillo and Lou. It's been
- 0:11Speaker 1: a busy day and the day hasn't ended yet. I mean,
- 0:13Speaker 1: we just had a whole slay that Major League Baseball
- 0:16Speaker 1: open up. We had the Yanks last night, we have
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Mets today. Now we got to worry about March madness,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but we'll deal with that as it comes along here.
- 0:24Speaker 1: But but Louis, I have to say the Mets. Let's
- 0:29Speaker 1: start there. The Mets first impression was impressive. But I
- 0:33Speaker 1: gotta say this, the top of the lineup first impression
- 0:36Speaker 1: is they're gonna be good. At the bottom of the lineup,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I mean, we still have to see them.
- 0:40Speaker 2: How they gel.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It just feels like a two different part lineup here
- 0:44Speaker 1: right now.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Well today, actually the whole lineup produced, with the exception
- 0:51Speaker 2: of Bashett who was over four. I had a big
- 0:52Speaker 2: sacrifice flying a first inning. I would Carson Ben struck
- 0:57Speaker 2: out this first two times up. Then it hits the
- 1:00Speaker 2: hits the bomb into the Mets bullpen. I guess that
- 1:05Speaker 2: that was good for him to get that off his
- 1:07Speaker 2: back right away. Look, Alex, we know it's a long season,
- 1:13Speaker 2: and we saw the Mets with the best record in
- 1:15Speaker 2: baseball as June thirteenth and then just hit the skids
- 1:20Speaker 2: after that, the dreaded June thirteenth. Yes, I know I
- 1:24Speaker 2: always bring that date up, but it's the dread It
- 1:28Speaker 2: was the dreaded June thirteenth. It's a new team. I mean,
- 1:34Speaker 2: it's not like the Yankees. The Yankees have basically brought
- 1:37Speaker 2: ninety nine or ninety the team back, and uh, it's
- 1:44Speaker 2: a new Mets team pitching staff wise. And I think
- 1:49Speaker 2: the yank is gonna be very good. But you said,
- 1:50Speaker 2: let's talk about the Mets first. I thought it was
- 1:53Speaker 2: it was a good day for the Mets. I really did,
- 1:58Speaker 2: uh per alta bounds back? Yeah, nothing, and then they cruised.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But the biggest, the biggest tagline here in storyline is
- 2:08Speaker 1: they knocked him out in the first inning. I mean
- 2:10Speaker 1: all schemes knocked out after barely after, you know.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And they took him out. Yeah, I'm surprised. That was surprised.
- 2:20Speaker 2: They took him out after thirty seven pitches.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I mean, you don't think anything wrong with the guy, right,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I mean, there's nothing wrong from the WBC appearances, right,
- 2:28Speaker 1: You don't know.
- 2:29Speaker 2: No, this is what happens nowadays. No, I don't think
- 2:33Speaker 2: there's anything wrong with him, but he pitched a lot
- 2:35Speaker 2: in WBC, and uh, you know there's this new thing.
- 2:40Speaker 2: If you throw more than thirty five pitches an inning,
- 2:43Speaker 2: you gotta come out, you know. And I was surprised
- 2:47Speaker 2: they took him out, Alex, I really was. I was
- 2:50Speaker 2: surprised when I saw Wama back in a pirate bullpen
- 2:56Speaker 2: in the first since the division is very winnable and
- 3:07Speaker 2: we got let's see how you know, how the Mets
- 3:09Speaker 2: is going to you know, how that their lineup might
- 3:17Speaker 2: be a little believe or not a little longer. Especially
- 3:20Speaker 2: Binge is the real thing, and the key guy is
- 3:23Speaker 2: Francisco Alvarez, Alex, He's the key guy. If he stays healthy,
- 3:27Speaker 2: he should, he should be able to have a breakout
- 3:29Speaker 2: offensive season and that will make a big difference for
- 3:32Speaker 2: the Mets.
- 3:34Speaker 1: All right, So Louis, let me ask you this.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Uh, it is.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Only game one of this whole season, right, but we've
- 3:43Speaker 1: said before the season moves faster. Now you get these
- 3:46Speaker 1: division rivals only twelve times. I mean when we saw
- 3:50Speaker 1: them break down in Washington last year, I believe it
- 3:53Speaker 1: was throwing the ball all over the place that one Sunday.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I said that loss will cost him in the end,
- 3:58Speaker 1: And of course they had some other bad losses along
- 3:59Speaker 1: the way. But I mean, yeah, Winds in April and Marshall, Yes,
- 4:06Speaker 1: did they matter now?
- 4:08Speaker 2: They really do? And the uh. I think it's it's
- 4:13Speaker 2: key for the Mexican off to a good start, to
- 4:16Speaker 2: keep the fan pressure off them, to keep the media
- 4:18Speaker 2: pressure off them. Alex, I don't know how good they are.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a playoff team. I
- 4:24Speaker 2: really don't. But I don't know how good the Phillies
- 4:27Speaker 2: are because they have injuries to to Wheeler and uh,
- 4:33Speaker 2: you know, they've lost guys. I don't know how good
- 4:35Speaker 2: the Braves are. They've had they've had injuries, Spencer Striders injured.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It's uh uh, it's anybody's division. Washington is rebuilding. I
- 4:47Speaker 2: think Miami will be decent, and I actually think Miami
- 4:50Speaker 2: will be a little bit of a pain in the
- 4:53Speaker 2: like more than usual. They have some good young players.
- 4:56Speaker 2: They have some good young arms, as we know. But
- 5:00Speaker 2: I would say division's wide open. I have no idea
- 5:03Speaker 2: how to peg this met team. On March twenty six.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I really don't. And but it was a good win today,
- 5:11Speaker 2: beautiful day, sellout crowd, and you know, the Mets have
- 5:18Speaker 2: been they have the best record of any team in
- 5:20Speaker 2: Major League Baseball on opening days. You know that. That's
- 5:25Speaker 2: that's always been a good omen for them opening day.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So let's hope they have a good year and we'll see.
- 5:33Speaker 2: We'll see what happens as Iowa. Just you know that
- 5:37Speaker 2: a couple of months that's breaking news.
- 5:40Speaker 3: They they did Okay, wow, that's it was a two
- 5:49Speaker 3: big ten teams going at each other and another big
- 5:54Speaker 3: team is in a.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Dog fight with Texas who's down a point with twenty
- 5:59Speaker 2: point nine second to go.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Louis, I say, turn the table. Love when these teams
- 6:03Speaker 1: turn the tables and just make it.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Be another could be another Purdue heart break, right and
- 6:11Speaker 2: they've had a lot of those.
- 6:13Speaker 1: They've had a lot of those. But no, I'll tell
- 6:16Speaker 1: you the uh, the opening day is fun. I I
- 6:20Speaker 1: always love it, but you know it's funny. I'm so
- 6:22Speaker 1: focused on the Johnny's It's like, I can't concern myself
- 6:26Speaker 1: with the fact Aaron Judge went oero for five. I
- 6:28Speaker 1: can't concern my fact the fact with you know boy
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Mets one and Opening Day, the Inks one and
- 6:34Speaker 1: Opening Day. Right now, Louis, we have bigger fish to fry.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I want to see the Saint John's team make a
- 6:41Speaker 1: deep run nut just in the Sweet sixteen, but go further,
- 6:43Speaker 1: like I want to see him do it this.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Year, Alex, I think you might. You might get your wish.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm I know they're underdog tomorrow and night six and
- 6:52Speaker 2: a half point underdogs. I like that chances tomorrow and
- 6:57Speaker 2: I I'm not gonna I'm not gonna uh see here
- 7:00Speaker 2: and say they're gonna win. But first of all, it's
- 7:05Speaker 2: a fantastic Sweet sixteen double ahead lamorrow, I Saint John's
- 7:09Speaker 2: and Duke, followed by Michigan State and Yukon. But you
- 7:14Speaker 2: know Saint John's for me my observation watching them, and
- 7:19Speaker 2: I watched them a lot this year. Uh, they have
- 7:21Speaker 2: to play better offensively strategically than they did against Duke
- 7:26Speaker 2: and then they did against Kansas to beat Duke against
- 7:31Speaker 2: against Kansas, in my opinion, you know, Saint John's took
- 7:34Speaker 2: way too many three point attempts. They took thirty five
- 7:38Speaker 2: in the game they made twelve. Usually they average twenty
- 7:41Speaker 2: one to three point three points a game. You know,
- 7:47Speaker 2: Saint John's has to do what they do well. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: think they can. I want to think they can beat them.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Sorry, real quick before I forget, and then we'll go
- 7:56Speaker 1: back to Saint John's. By the way, they now have
- 7:59Speaker 1: a collector card for Dylan Darling's major moment. And by
- 8:02Speaker 1: the way, biggest basket of the college's history the university's
- 8:06Speaker 1: history of my view. But anyway, Louis, you and I
- 8:09Speaker 1: were in the same building when IOWA was in the
- 8:12Speaker 1: insane March Madness back in two thousand and one, and
- 8:14Speaker 1: we never ran into each other. How cool is that
- 8:16Speaker 1: that we could say we saw Iowa in the same building,
- 8:19Speaker 1: NASA Poliseum.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes we did, we did. I remember that day very well.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And Ten also beat Nebraska that day because Nebraska had
- 8:33Speaker 2: never won an NCAA game until until last week. So yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 2: that is a couple of memories there. But Iowa, I
- 8:47Speaker 2: mean alex The best conference in sports right now, in
- 8:52Speaker 2: college sports right now is the Big Ten. Whether you're
- 8:55Speaker 2: talking about Big Ten football, They've won the last three championships,
- 9:00Speaker 2: whether you're talking about college basketball, whether you're talking about
- 9:04Speaker 2: men's hockey, they had the big ten is God that
- 9:11Speaker 2: got has going right now. But you know, but getting
- 9:14Speaker 2: back to Saint John's, I mean Saint John's is an
- 9:16Speaker 2: experienced team. They play great defense. Uh, they are physically
- 9:21Speaker 2: and mentally tough. I think who's ever officiating tomorrow night
- 9:30Speaker 2: is key. If they are gonna call touch fowls Saint
- 9:34Speaker 2: John's is in trouble, They're gonna let them play Diggy's
- 9:37Speaker 2: style of refereeing. I think Saint John's has a great chance. Uh,
- 9:42Speaker 2: the way the game is officiated will have an effect
- 9:44Speaker 2: on the outcome of the game. I really, I really
- 9:47Speaker 2: believe that. And uh you know, uh Zoobi Oka for
- 9:51Speaker 2: is gonna have to be at his best, stay out
- 9:53Speaker 2: of foul trouble. Hopkins who Bryce Hopkins with the six
- 9:57Speaker 2: to three points his last game. Uh, he's veteran. They
- 10:01Speaker 2: need him to have another big game. He's an excellent
- 10:04Speaker 2: all around player. And I know most people don't think
- 10:10Speaker 2: they're gonna win. I think Saint John's has a great
- 10:13Speaker 2: chance winning a great chance.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Well, I also think the we talk about Shire verse,
- 10:24Speaker 1: but we talk about shire before, but now you're saying
- 10:27Speaker 1: Shire verse. Patino, that's coaching experience. Versus newer coaching experience.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's gonna be.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Interesting to see how that pans out as well. So
- 10:35Speaker 1: it'll be fun. This is what I have you on
- 10:36Speaker 1: because you break it down player by player, And let's
- 10:39Speaker 1: be honest, Lou, not every person knows these guys roster
- 10:44Speaker 1: to roster, and I think that's partly because the transfer
- 10:46Speaker 1: portal or whatever.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I mean, you know, again, looking at the duke end
- 10:50Speaker 2: of it, I mean they have great athletes and uh,
- 10:55Speaker 2: the the Booger twins are tremendous.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Cameron is a great all around college basketball.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And might put my analytical hand on Saint John's. Can't
- 11:10Speaker 1: keep taking those threes, Lou. That's where they're gonna get
- 11:12Speaker 1: sunk if they they keep missing those.
- 11:14Speaker 2: No. I really hope they don't. I hope they don't
- 11:17Speaker 2: just fall in love with a three point shot. I
- 11:20Speaker 2: really don't, you know. So, but uh Caden, uh Kayden
- 11:27Speaker 2: Boozer has taken over at the point guard is playing
- 11:29Speaker 2: very well for him and he can control he can
- 11:32Speaker 2: control the game for them. Their bigs are athletic. That's
- 11:36Speaker 2: why Zoobie cannot get into foul trouble. He's gotta play smart.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Coaching edge. I don't Shire has done a great job.
- 11:43Speaker 2: The coaching edge definitely goes to Patino, who's been through
- 11:47Speaker 2: these wars a thousand times. I think Saint John's has
- 11:51Speaker 2: a chance, tomar and I really do this. This will
- 11:54Speaker 2: be no miracle. Uh, this would not be I think
- 11:59Speaker 2: Saint Johns has a legitimate chance to upset the Duke
- 12:03Speaker 2: Blue Devils tomorrow.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And I all right, let's be real here for a second,
- 12:07Speaker 1: Louis where I'm right now, company from the Borough of Queens, right,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and I feel like, as much as we're a basketball borough, right,
- 12:16Speaker 1: it's never really seen on the national Now Patino's getting
- 12:18Speaker 1: it on the national stage more. But mid season it's like,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you don't hear what Saint John's is doing. You hear
- 12:24Speaker 1: what Duke's doing, what Michigan's doing. Like I think there's
- 12:28Speaker 1: still that chip on the shoulder of like, yeah, recognize
- 12:31Speaker 1: this borough, recognize this program, that it will be there.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It feels like there's not enough coverage on a national
- 12:39Speaker 1: basis until the tournament. And I feel like, you know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: you come into tomorrow, Let's show the world. Let's show
- 12:44Speaker 1: the borough of the world with the Borough Queens could
- 12:46Speaker 1: do in basketball.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Well, I think you make a valid point. Now there's
- 12:52Speaker 2: a couple of reasons I think for that. First of all,
- 12:56Speaker 2: if you want to compare them to Duke Duke, you know,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I won five national championships. They have been their national brand.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Let's face it, people root for these college teams not
- 13:09Speaker 2: because they're going to go to that that university or
- 13:12Speaker 2: they have attended that university. They just root for them
- 13:15Speaker 2: as you know, as a sports team. And Saint John's
- 13:21Speaker 2: gets lost because they played in New York City. They
- 13:25Speaker 2: have not been successful for the last quarter decade, the
- 13:29Speaker 2: last quarter century, excuse me, and they get lost with
- 13:33Speaker 2: the other nine major pro teams in the market, and
- 13:37Speaker 2: there's other college teams in the market. It's that that's
- 13:41Speaker 2: that's just how it is now. Coach Beatino has done
- 13:44Speaker 2: the best to bring that ran back, putting in more game,
- 13:50Speaker 2: playing more home games at Madison Square Garden. Obviously, he's
- 13:54Speaker 2: a high profile coach, so he he's he's a face
- 14:00Speaker 2: of the Saint John's franchise. And as we said last
- 14:03Speaker 2: week when we were talking with you, n Ryan, in
- 14:07Speaker 2: college basketball, unlike the NBA coaches, the face of of
- 14:13Speaker 2: the college basketball team, you know, whether it. Whether it's
- 14:17Speaker 2: Bill self or or John Caliparry, you know, we can
- 14:20Speaker 2: go right down the line, or Bob or Danny Hurley.
- 14:26Speaker 2: You know, they are there. They're the faces of their program.
- 14:32Speaker 2: So Shires the face of Duke's program, even though he's
- 14:37Speaker 2: only been there three years, you know, and you saw
- 14:40Speaker 2: what happened. How tough the pressure that these coaches at
- 14:44Speaker 2: those name brands are. Like Duke in North Carolina, Hubert
- 14:48Speaker 2: Davis is out after taking them to the final four
- 14:54Speaker 2: that that first year as coach. It's a tough job.
- 14:58Speaker 2: But I do believe that yeah, yes, Saint John's might
- 15:02Speaker 2: have a chip on the shoulder, and he has an
- 15:03Speaker 2: opportunity for them to you know, nudge some of the
- 15:10Speaker 2: pro teams, you know, to decide for a couple more weeks.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Is it possible that they were fifth seed in their
- 15:18Speaker 1: debit because well, you know, they were fifth in the
- 15:22Speaker 1: preseason poll and by the way, I think for Saint
- 15:25Speaker 1: john should be fifth, which was the first time in
- 15:28Speaker 1: a long time. By the way that they were in
- 15:29Speaker 1: the top ten in the rankings heading into the season,
- 15:34Speaker 1: I thought they played better than the fifth seed. I
- 15:36Speaker 1: don't know why the NCA but do you think that
- 15:39Speaker 1: was a factor was well, they were fifth when they
- 15:41Speaker 1: were in the preseason. Then they maybe the NCAA thought
- 15:44Speaker 1: they played that way. I don't understand, Louis.
- 15:45Speaker 2: No, I would say, no, I'm going to say the
- 15:48Speaker 2: NCAA blew this. That's all whatever calculations, whatever the computer
- 15:53Speaker 2: spit out, the computer was wrong. I believe in the computer,
- 15:57Speaker 2: but I also believe I was as I said a
- 15:59Speaker 2: million times in the eye test, Saint John's was not
- 16:03Speaker 2: a fifth seed. There was no way they were a
- 16:06Speaker 2: fifth seed. But now they're here, and they got through
- 16:10Speaker 2: the first weekend, and you know, if they both win.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He hasn't been here in nineteen ninety nine. And Mike Jarvis,
- 16:18Speaker 1: by the way, I remember him in the NBA years
- 16:21Speaker 1: also like he he went from what Saint John's to
- 16:25Speaker 1: the NBA.
- 16:25Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken, Yeah, he went to I think
- 16:28Speaker 2: he went to Washington for a while, and uh, he
- 16:35Speaker 2: was a decent coach. He was a decent coach. But
- 16:41Speaker 2: you know, they Saint John's tried with these coaches, but
- 16:45Speaker 2: Patino is the guy who and we knew he was
- 16:47Speaker 2: going to do it.
- 16:49Speaker 1: We don't think And by the way, Lavin was health
- 16:51Speaker 1: you know, God got Steve Labin for what he's going through.
- 16:54Speaker 1: He was really turning the program around, I thought, and
- 16:56Speaker 1: then he got sick and all you know what he
- 16:58Speaker 1: did get sick, But he was turning the program around,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I thought.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Right, But he didn't have the impact that Patino had.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Now truth be told, Uh, coach Lavin didn't have Michael
- 17:10Speaker 2: Paola either pouring in those dollars, and that was that
- 17:13Speaker 2: was pre nil and pre you can pay the athletes.
- 17:17Speaker 2: So that's a whole different that's a whole different ball game.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And by the way, Purdue survives when they tip in
- 17:24Speaker 1: with point seven seconds left over Texas, So that's how
- 17:28Speaker 1: they move on to the next to the Elite eight.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so Purdue, you know, got to the Final four
- 17:36Speaker 2: last year. Looks like they make it back to back
- 17:38Speaker 2: their veteran team. Uh. They seem in an era where
- 17:42Speaker 2: guys last one year and go to the NBA or
- 17:45Speaker 2: go play in Europe or whatever. These these Purdue boiler Makers,
- 17:50Speaker 2: especially with Lawyer and uh and Brandon Smith probably the
- 17:55Speaker 2: best point guard in the country as far, especially with experience,
- 17:58Speaker 2: they seem like they've been around for six seven years.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Amazing Louis and I talked about this with my previous guest,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Amff for how a lot of these kids make these
- 18:10Speaker 1: one one moment shots for them, one shiny moment, I
- 18:13Speaker 1: guess is what we call it, yeah, in the tournament,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and then either they don't get drafted, you never hear
- 18:18Speaker 1: from him again. It's so interesting how that works out.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's like some of these kids moments truly are made
- 18:22Speaker 1: here and that's why they are at that high committal,
- 18:26Speaker 1: no to help the team win, but you know, that's
- 18:28Speaker 1: their moment, and then who knows what happens after that.
- 18:30Speaker 1: But a lot of these kids that make these moments
- 18:32Speaker 1: don't never get drafted, right, I don't. I don't find
- 18:34Speaker 1: that to be the case.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Sometimes you're exactly right. I mean, we could remember when
- 18:39Speaker 2: I Isaiah Whitehead had that great run for Seaton Hall
- 18:42Speaker 2: and they beat Villanova in the Big East, the Big
- 18:46Speaker 2: East Final, and then and he was the MVP of
- 18:48Speaker 2: the Big East tournament and he was a tremendous player
- 18:50Speaker 2: for Seaton Hall. He was drafted by the Nets, I
- 18:53Speaker 2: believe in the second round, but he didn't make it.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And he was you know, he was a five star
- 18:58Speaker 2: recruit that Seaton Hall got you know, and he played
- 19:02Speaker 2: two years. He was banged up the first year, so
- 19:04Speaker 2: he stayed the second year. But you're right, I mean,
- 19:07Speaker 2: but that was his one shining moment, you know that
- 19:10Speaker 2: they when they won the Big East Championship.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And then they go out to Denver for the the
- 19:16Speaker 1: tournament and the elevation got to him. I mean that was.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And they lost against Zaga and Sabonis had his way
- 19:27Speaker 2: with them on the inside. They couldn't handle them.
- 19:30Speaker 1: All right. We we love Kevin Willard as coach. I
- 19:33Speaker 1: thought he was very fiery with snarky, but it looks
- 19:36Speaker 1: like his snark is not being treated, you know, it's
- 19:40Speaker 1: not being looking as funny anymore. I don't know what happened,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but like he's just it's like he can't make that now.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I wouldn't say I fire half my whole staff. That
- 19:47Speaker 1: would be kind of weird to say at halftime. But
- 19:49Speaker 1: I mean, his snark is not really being accepted nationally
- 19:52Speaker 1: right now, if you notice, well, I.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Mean, I guess social media is killing him. But he
- 19:59Speaker 2: said it in cheek, he said in jess as you
- 20:03Speaker 2: remember he when he was when we had him on
- 20:06Speaker 2: the post game show when we carried the seat hall games.
- 20:10Speaker 2: He gave you a lot of He gave you a
- 20:12Speaker 2: lot of stuff and uh.
- 20:15Speaker 1: My favorite is like a two am ending and he
- 20:17Speaker 1: just kept going for half an hour.
- 20:19Speaker 2: He did. And I don't see. Hey, if social media
- 20:25Speaker 2: they just want to chirp at him, that's fine. But
- 20:31Speaker 2: I know a lot of people don't don't like him.
- 20:34Speaker 2: He's a heck of a coach. I don't think he
- 20:38Speaker 2: didn't he he didn't mean he was going to fire
- 20:40Speaker 2: his entire staff. I mean, you know, and he did
- 20:44Speaker 2: a great job with Villanova this year and I'm sure
- 20:47Speaker 2: they'll be even better next year.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I love his recruiting. You know, we saw over the
- 20:52Speaker 1: years how he recruited. It was I mean, even though
- 20:56Speaker 1: you didn't really last long, Jared seen it comes to
- 20:58Speaker 1: somebody who's a great recruit from for when he was there. Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 1: well the Desi Desi and then Delgado and all Yez Delgado.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they had a nice team.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They always gives his recruit as well, actually Sterling Gibbs
- 21:15Speaker 1: as well, and then Isaiah white Head, who I think
- 21:17Speaker 1: went onto the G League for the Nets if I'm
- 21:19Speaker 1: not mistaken.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, no, he did any play for nets for a
- 21:21Speaker 2: little while, but he did. He didn't make it, you know,
- 21:24Speaker 2: and he was a five He was one of the
- 21:27Speaker 2: few five star recruits that Seaton hold on.
- 21:30Speaker 1: All right, I never asked you about this. We didn't
- 21:32Speaker 1: have a chance to yet. Speaking of G League, just
- 21:35Speaker 1: came to mind, Lew in your twenty eight years an
- 21:37Speaker 1: NBA executive, did a kid ever play in the G
- 21:40Speaker 1: League and then score like eleven points in the NBA
- 21:43Speaker 1: that night? I mean, Tyler Koleks doing something I'm not
- 21:47Speaker 1: seen ever. I don't remember the last time I said
- 21:49Speaker 1: I gotta go to the G League and then play
- 21:52Speaker 1: in the NBA that night. That's something else.
- 21:55Speaker 2: So that what that happened today, That happened on Sunday, Okay, yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 2: I I don't recall that. The only thing I saw
- 22:06Speaker 2: in the G League that Mac McClung, who who won
- 22:10Speaker 2: three straight Slam Dumb Contest even though he wasn't really
- 22:14Speaker 2: with an NBA team, scored fifty nine points in the
- 22:17Speaker 2: G League the other night, saying a G League record.
- 22:21Speaker 2: And Matt McClung, who played for Georgetown and for Texas Tech.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I just can't believe that there isn't a spot in
- 22:29Speaker 2: the NBA for a kid like that, but I guess
- 22:33Speaker 2: there isn't. But give him a little recognition for his
- 22:38Speaker 2: fifty nine points record setting G League effort the other night.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And you're a local guy. We always love to highlight
- 22:46Speaker 1: the local kids in the sense of Big East basketball, because,
- 22:51Speaker 1: let's face it, I was raised up on Biggest Basketball.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'm sure you were, absolutely Yeah who raised up on that?
- 22:56Speaker 1: And of course they still have the jersey of the
- 22:58Speaker 1: Syracuse Yukon game that went seven overtimes. I mean that
- 23:03Speaker 1: I missed that Big East a little bit. I missed
- 23:05Speaker 1: when Rutgers was in the Big East. I mean, that
- 23:07Speaker 1: was a very fun conference back in the day.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still, in my opinion, is still a great
- 23:12Speaker 2: conference now. And you know, they had to split from
- 23:14Speaker 2: the football teams, and who knows what the futures don't
- 23:17Speaker 2: like in college which we don't know. They didn't allow
- 23:20Speaker 2: Connecticut back in, but they'll and they played football, but
- 23:25Speaker 2: they're not they're not going to it's not going to
- 23:28Speaker 2: be like it was. I don't believe where they allowed
- 23:31Speaker 2: more football teams in. But yeah, no, I can't.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I do you.
- 23:40Speaker 2: When Boston College and Syracuse and Pitt and Miami were
- 23:45Speaker 2: in the Big East and Louisville and Notre Dame. Notre
- 23:48Speaker 2: Dame should have never left the Big East. They should
- 23:51Speaker 2: have never That was a mistake on their part in
- 23:53Speaker 2: my opinion.
- 23:56Speaker 1: But you know, Mike Brey still coaches you no longer coach.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I'm he retired. He retired a couple of years ago.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Always had them in the tournament every year and now
- 24:05Speaker 1: they're not even in it.
- 24:06Speaker 2: It's right well that they since Bray retired to having
- 24:10Speaker 2: having a little issues getting that program where it should be.
- 24:16Speaker 1: But love this loie. We talk about Big ten, big
- 24:20Speaker 1: big fight tonight with the iowaver to Nebraska. I gotta
- 24:24Speaker 1: give this programming note. We're gonna have J. Paterno on tomorrow.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna air that episode tomorrow with Ryan and uh,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know Paterno name and J. Paterno and the whole
- 24:35Speaker 1: Paterno family, the legacy of Penn State. We also talk
- 24:40Speaker 1: about having Penn SAE basketball can get back into this
- 24:42Speaker 1: because you barely hear about PENNSA basketball. Here about the
- 24:45Speaker 1: football team, the hockey team. Now, Gavin was a Gavin McKenna.
- 24:50Speaker 2: McKenna, they're in the you know, they're in the NCAA tournament.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And I believe they play tomorrow night in the NCAA Tournament.
- 25:00Speaker 1: It will be a perfect time to launch the podcast with
- 25:02Speaker 1: him and to talk about that, because, uh, it was
- 25:05Speaker 1: great we got into the hockey. I love that he's
- 25:07Speaker 1: so well versus not just in football, you know that's
- 25:10Speaker 1: his past time, but he loves the hockey scene. He
- 25:13Speaker 1: was at the Beaver Stadium game for Penn Sate hockey,
- 25:17Speaker 1: so we talked about that with us, so will air
- 25:19Speaker 1: that tomorrow. But the Penn Sate basketball, you know, they
- 25:23Speaker 1: haven't been in the tournament. I don't remember when the
- 25:25Speaker 1: last time they were Do you remember last time?
- 25:27Speaker 2: I if you, I could not. I do not remember
- 25:29Speaker 2: the last time they were in I mean, I do
- 25:33Speaker 2: not remember last time they win the tournament.
- 25:36Speaker 1: So you talked about that a little bit and how
- 25:38Speaker 1: they can get back in there, because I'm sure Penn
- 25:40Speaker 1: Sate fans want to see their basketball team. Their wrestling team,
- 25:43Speaker 1: of course, keeps winning every year. It seems like they
- 25:46Speaker 1: have a solid wrestling team that wins the end Za
- 25:48Speaker 1: tournament every year.
- 25:49Speaker 2: So big wrestling is figh level it is. I mean
- 25:56Speaker 2: with Iowa, Iowa's you know has a history or Iowa,
- 26:00Speaker 2: Iowa State, they have this you know, iconic histories when
- 26:03Speaker 2: it comes to wrestling well.
- 26:07Speaker 1: And by the way, that's the thing about this tournament
- 26:09Speaker 1: is the Iowas are in it still. I mean Iowa Hawkeyes.
- 26:14Speaker 1: They haven't had that much basketball success in a little bit.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I feel like Iowa State of courses every year. You
- 26:19Speaker 1: keep an eye on them because they just have something
- 26:22Speaker 1: about them that keeps them in the tournament every year.
- 26:24Speaker 1: So both Iowas still in this. So we'll see what
- 26:28Speaker 1: happens with that.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Alex A couple of things. As you know, I am
- 26:37Speaker 2: not the greatest fan of the World Baseball Classic, and
- 26:40Speaker 2: something happened that today or yesterday where Jackson Chario, the
- 26:45Speaker 2: great Milwaukee Brewer were young center field who played for
- 26:49Speaker 2: Venezuela is going to miss the next three to four
- 26:52Speaker 2: weeks with a broken a broken hand and a broken
- 26:55Speaker 2: couple of broken fingers that he suffered playing in the
- 26:58Speaker 2: playing in the World Baseball Classic. Apparently he played through
- 27:03Speaker 2: it and it just the X rays didn't show the
- 27:07Speaker 2: break at that time. But when the World Baseball Classic ended,
- 27:13Speaker 2: he was complaining about it and for the testing show
- 27:17Speaker 2: that he has broken hand. So again, I'm not a
- 27:23Speaker 2: fan of the World Baseball Classic, and I certainly don't
- 27:24Speaker 2: want to see any of the guys who play for
- 27:26Speaker 2: my team get get hurt in that exhibition series anymore.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Even though some of the baseball games were great, I'm
- 27:35Speaker 2: not gonna yeah they were, they were.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I mean, Paul Skins is in town. I know he
- 27:39Speaker 1: had a rough out in the day. But maybe you'll
- 27:42Speaker 1: have a better maybe you'll feel better on sadday. I
- 27:43Speaker 1: don't know, but I'd love to get his take on
- 27:45Speaker 1: what that was like watching Bryce Harper's game tire, because
- 27:49Speaker 1: in that moment, I felt like everybody was watching and
- 27:52Speaker 1: Bryce Harper had his moment in that with that game.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Well, me and me and you were two of ten
- 27:57Speaker 2: million people plus that were watching a ten eleven million people,
- 28:00Speaker 2: so a lot of people were into a game, a
- 28:02Speaker 2: baseball game in the middle of March. So from that end,
- 28:07Speaker 2: it was successful. Now another sport that they're trying to
- 28:12Speaker 2: make successful, and I think the National football well.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Hold on, I have some burging news. You understand. The
- 28:17Speaker 1: Olympics are having baseball back. I believe Team USA baseball
- 28:20Speaker 1: is playing in the Olympics this year.
- 28:22Speaker 2: A twenty twenty eight, baseball is back in the Olympics.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So that's a huge Burgi news. And it'll come on
- 28:29Speaker 1: the forty the anniversary of Tino Martinez winning gold in
- 28:31Speaker 1: nineteen eighty eight. So there's a little nugget for you.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You were mentioning about the Olympics.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Well, another sport that's going to be in the Olympics
- 28:43Speaker 2: in twenty twenty eight is flag football. And you know,
- 28:48Speaker 2: the NFL has done a tremendous job of making a
- 28:51Speaker 2: major commitment to flag football in the United States. And
- 28:58Speaker 2: they had this tournament on Saturday on Fox and it
- 29:02Speaker 2: did not drow well. It average. It was on from
- 29:05Speaker 2: four to eight thirty and there was average six hundred
- 29:08Speaker 2: and fifty thousand viewers on Fox, which was lower than
- 29:12Speaker 2: I thought, and I think lower than they anticipated. But
- 29:15Speaker 2: truth be told, it was against it was up against
- 29:19Speaker 2: March Madness, you know on CBS and uh you know,
- 29:23Speaker 2: and turn and and the Turner family of networks. But
- 29:29Speaker 2: the NFL, like I said, made a major commitment to
- 29:32Speaker 2: flag football. Two point four million people now play flag
- 29:40Speaker 2: football in the United States. Twenty million people play flag
- 29:43Speaker 2: football worldwide. It's the fastest growing sport in the world.
- 29:47Speaker 2: It's the second fastest growing sport in the United States
- 29:51Speaker 2: behind pickleball. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the
- 29:57Speaker 2: United States, up three hundred percent over the last two years.
- 30:01Speaker 2: But you know, parents who will not sign a permission
- 30:07Speaker 2: slip for their kids to play tackle football because of
- 30:10Speaker 2: the injuries, the CTE, the concussions. We know, all the
- 30:14Speaker 2: deals are pleased about the development of flag football because
- 30:21Speaker 2: it's much safer, you know, than tackle football. And it
- 30:25Speaker 2: doesn't matter if you're big, if you're small. It takes
- 30:29Speaker 2: great skill to play. You have you could be younger,
- 30:33Speaker 2: and older players can play. Some NFL players who are
- 30:39Speaker 2: retired say they want to play in the Olympics in
- 30:42Speaker 2: twenty twenty eight. I have no idea what the criteria
- 30:46Speaker 2: is for to play in the Olympics for players to
- 30:51Speaker 2: be eligible, but apparently, and I didn't watch any of
- 30:55Speaker 2: this on Fox, but apparently the experience the Team US
- 30:59Speaker 2: said the experienced flag football team against the NFL Stars,
- 31:04Speaker 2: that the NFL Stars couldn't keep up with them, not
- 31:07Speaker 2: because they weren't better athletes as they are, but they
- 31:10Speaker 2: knew the nuances of flag football. So I mean, I
- 31:13Speaker 2: think that's something to look at. I think eventually there's
- 31:16Speaker 2: going to be a professional league in a flag football. No,
- 31:20Speaker 2: it's not going to replace tackle football, but I think
- 31:23Speaker 2: he'll be an alternative. There'll be you know, they'll be boys, girls, men,
- 31:27Speaker 2: women leagues and divisions. I think that's on the horizon,
- 31:35Speaker 2: very very very soon. Then it's well organized, well organized.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Now, Alex well, that could help the adaptive community also
- 31:42Speaker 1: play sports. You know that flag football, I'd want to
- 31:46Speaker 1: play that in a heartbeat, you know, I'd love to
- 31:48Speaker 1: do something like that. So we'll have to see. I
- 31:51Speaker 1: played a little intramural. I had a couple of snaps
- 31:53Speaker 1: in Intramorrow football, which was pretty cool. Intermorrow flag football
- 31:56Speaker 1: actually Queen's College, so I have all experience with that.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But if they made this a national scale, that would
- 32:02Speaker 1: be great. Now, you know, I already have tennis in
- 32:05Speaker 1: the Olympics, but pick a ball I could see with
- 32:08Speaker 1: the steam that's picked up. Could they ever make it
- 32:10Speaker 1: an Olympic sport? Would that be an into the tennis.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 32:14Speaker 2: No, I think you probably have both, but I think
- 32:17Speaker 2: I think pickle ball, yes, I could see pick a
- 32:19Speaker 2: ball being an Olympic sport. Down the road. For sure.
- 32:23Speaker 4: It's better than breakdancing. Louie, so yes, it's better in breakdancing.
- 32:27Speaker 4: It's bed in boldroom dancing, which I think in the
- 32:31Speaker 4: early twenties was there for one Olympics.
- 32:35Speaker 2: But so, I mean, that's just something to look at.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I could be totally wrong, but it seems like in
- 32:41Speaker 2: the NFL has done a great job organizing flag football.
- 32:48Speaker 2: One other thing is we're on a on the NFL.
- 32:52Speaker 2: It seems like the Jets have had a private workout
- 32:56Speaker 2: with ty Simpson. They gave him a private workout, That's
- 32:59Speaker 2: what I've heard, and I don't know how it went
- 33:02Speaker 2: because it was a private workout and they didn't say
- 33:07Speaker 2: how it went. I also heard that the Jets have
- 33:11Speaker 2: an interest in Carson Beck, and I like Carson Beck,
- 33:15Speaker 2: you know, the former Georgia at Miami University of Miami quarterback,
- 33:19Speaker 2: and I think they might they. I know they haven't
- 33:24Speaker 2: interested in Drew a Law or the Penn State quarterback
- 33:28Speaker 2: who got injured last year, but that might be somebody
- 33:30Speaker 2: that they would take further down if if Carson Beck
- 33:35Speaker 2: wasn't available, or if they take ty Ty Simpson.
- 33:40Speaker 1: So interesting, he's twenty three he's the oldest. It feels
- 33:43Speaker 1: like one of the oldest college quarterbacks at yes. Yeah,
- 33:47Speaker 1: but he was in the graduate program that I think
- 33:49Speaker 1: he was enrolled in still, and that's how I was
- 33:51Speaker 1: able to play.
- 33:53Speaker 2: That's exactly correct.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the national champion. I thought he looked a little pressure,
- 33:57Speaker 1: But I loved that kid. I loved him. In Georgia
- 34:01Speaker 1: final tournament game, you know, n C Talloy gamer was
- 34:05Speaker 1: a little.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I thought that last past he threw down the left
- 34:09Speaker 2: sideline that got picked off. I thought, I thought he
- 34:12Speaker 2: I thought that was gonna be a touchdown, but the
- 34:15Speaker 2: defensive back made a terrifect play and that was the clinching,
- 34:20Speaker 2: clinching play for Indiana. One other thing I heard from
- 34:23Speaker 2: somebody in the NFL, So this is somebody directly who
- 34:27Speaker 2: is in the NFL said to me that the Jets
- 34:31Speaker 2: might have an interest as a backup quarterback Russell Wilson.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Now this makes sense because I'm not saying I love
- 34:42Speaker 2: Russell Wilson. I you know, I don't. I don't think
- 34:44Speaker 2: he can start anymore. But Russell Wilson did not complain
- 34:49Speaker 2: when he got benched, did not at the trade deadline,
- 34:53Speaker 2: did not say to Giant management, trade me. And god knows,
- 34:56Speaker 2: there was enough contending teams that had injured quarterbacks that
- 34:59Speaker 2: could have used Russell Wilson just on experience alone. But
- 35:03Speaker 2: Russell Wilson one of the reasons why he did not
- 35:06Speaker 2: go to the Giants and said, you know, release me,
- 35:09Speaker 2: trade me is because his wife and him have a
- 35:14Speaker 2: lot of business interests outside football, and they like being
- 35:18Speaker 2: in New York because it's the you know, it's the
- 35:22Speaker 2: epicenter of pop culture of entertainment, and that to be
- 35:29Speaker 2: a reason why there might be an interest in Russell
- 35:34Speaker 2: Wilson wanting to sign with the Jets. I don't know
- 35:37Speaker 2: if the Jets interest in Russell Wilson is more than
- 35:40Speaker 2: Russell Wilson's interests in the Jets, but one of my uh,
- 35:45Speaker 2: one of my contacts with an NFL team told me this,
- 35:51Speaker 2: and so that's something that's something to look out for.
- 35:55Speaker 1: So well, let's let's talk about the let's talk about
- 35:57Speaker 1: in the same One of the guys in the Giants
- 35:59Speaker 1: QB room along with Russell was Jameis Winston. And we
- 36:03Speaker 1: didn't cover the Inche game last night, but I wanted
- 36:07Speaker 1: to say nbca's covered of today's Mets Opening Day was perfect.
- 36:10Speaker 1: They showed the opening introduction of both teams. I love that.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I think every opening day you should show the baseline
- 36:17Speaker 1: intros for both teams. By the way, but jamis on
- 36:19Speaker 1: Netflix last night, very funny guy, quite the personality. Did
- 36:23Speaker 1: you like the whole presentation for Netflix? Tell us your
- 36:26Speaker 1: real Urminela take on that.
- 36:27Speaker 2: My real terminel take. I'm gonna on this. U uh,
- 36:30Speaker 2: you know my grade a D and I'm being kind.
- 36:36Speaker 2: They made mistakes and I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I Uh. I left the game and was watching watching
- 36:44Speaker 2: all the other other things last night because I I
- 36:50Speaker 2: just thought it was poorly just just just poorly executed.
- 36:53Speaker 2: It was a terrible production. And that seems to be
- 36:56Speaker 2: the consensus today with all the media critics. They only,
- 37:01Speaker 2: they're only they're only doing three games, well three, excuse me,
- 37:05Speaker 2: they're doing three events over three years. They got they
- 37:08Speaker 2: got exclusive opening night for this year last night, and
- 37:12Speaker 2: another two years. They had the field of Dream Games
- 37:15Speaker 2: this year, and I don't know if there's a field
- 37:17Speaker 2: of Dreams Games next year and a year after or
- 37:20Speaker 2: some other kind of special event, but they got that
- 37:22Speaker 2: special event for next three years. Somebody says it's it's
- 37:26Speaker 2: going to be three years of Field of Dream games
- 37:28Speaker 2: in Iowa, which is fine, and the Home Run Derby.
- 37:31Speaker 2: They're paying Major League Baseball one hundred and fifty million
- 37:33Speaker 2: dollars for those three events. But Alex, you got it.
- 37:39Speaker 2: You can't have Hunter Pence and CC Sabathia, two fine
- 37:45Speaker 2: major leaguers when you're launching an exclusive opening night game. Yeah,
- 37:54Speaker 2: you have to. You have to have somebody with a
- 37:57Speaker 2: little cachet a John Miller as the play by play guy,
- 38:05Speaker 2: somebody like that. That's just that's just me. I thought.
- 38:13Speaker 2: I thought it was terrible lesson. I really did. And
- 38:18Speaker 2: but again, the most important thing is the Yankees.
- 38:20Speaker 1: One Barry Bonds pops up, and I'm like, okay, this
- 38:22Speaker 1: is interesting because I thought he was persona on groded MLB?
- 38:25Speaker 1: Like how does he get this? See at the table again?
- 38:27Speaker 1: You know, And if that's the case, who people are
- 38:31Speaker 1: gonna love me for saying this. Put him in the hall.
- 38:32Speaker 1: If that's the case, if you're gonna treat him, you know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: bring him on a Netflix You're opening night. I get it.
- 38:37Speaker 1: It's the Giants. And he had that interesting story about
- 38:40Speaker 1: stein Brenner telling him to sign a contract by two
- 38:43Speaker 1: PM or right.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Yeah. Now I didn't hear it last night. I heard
- 38:46Speaker 2: that this morning. Now, Alex Netflix is paying them one
- 38:50Speaker 2: hundred and fifty million dollars for a limited number of events.
- 38:55Speaker 2: So they so Major League Baseball turn ahead on Barry Bonds.
- 38:59Speaker 2: That's what they did. And I'm not saying that Barry
- 39:01Speaker 2: Bond shouldn't have been there. I'm not saying that he
- 39:04Speaker 2: shouldn't have been there. You know, Mark McGuire was a
- 39:08Speaker 2: hitting coach, you know, after Yeah, he.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Got back in the league. I thought that was so interesting.
- 39:14Speaker 1: He was hired by the Marlins, I think, or one
- 39:17Speaker 1: of those.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Things, and he you know, so it wasn't either Dodgers
- 39:22Speaker 2: hitting coach for a year or two or.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Maybe the Dodgers too.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Yeah. So again I have no I really have no
- 39:30Speaker 2: problem with with with Barry Bonds. I do have a
- 39:32Speaker 2: problem with that comedian the Kayak in the pregame show
- 39:35Speaker 2: and the picture kept kept breaking up and it was
- 39:40Speaker 2: just the production was for I had no idea why
- 39:43Speaker 2: Jameis Winston was there. I mean he I have no idea.
- 39:48Speaker 2: You know, he played college baseball. His lifetime batting average
- 39:51Speaker 2: somebody said was one twenty eight, So I don't get it.
- 39:56Speaker 2: But again, everybody's trying to be different. Everybody's trying to
- 40:00Speaker 2: trying to be an entertain Uh, you know.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Max Freed. I think that the whole thing. I think
- 40:07Speaker 1: he likes it bad against Max Freed at one point
- 40:09Speaker 1: in college.
- 40:10Speaker 2: But I'm sure MaTx Freed got him out.
- 40:15Speaker 1: But you know, and then the game itself, and we
- 40:17Speaker 1: didn't really talk about the Yanks, but we can hear. Yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 1: I could care less what Judge does on Opening Night
- 40:22Speaker 1: if we could give the Yanks a win a ring
- 40:24Speaker 1: in November. That's my stance. And maybe a reversal of
- 40:27Speaker 1: trend where he goes hitless on opening day but brings
- 40:31Speaker 1: a ring will be better than going h five or
- 40:33Speaker 1: five on opening day and doing nothing in the postseason.
- 40:35Speaker 1: You know, That's just how I see it.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I agree.
- 40:39Speaker 1: And then the other thing is this Caballero. I said
- 40:41Speaker 1: it last year. I'm gonna say it again. He's the
- 40:44Speaker 1: injection to the Yankee lineup they needed. I really don't
- 40:46Speaker 1: know I Volpi's future is going to be when he
- 40:48Speaker 1: comes back. It does look a little uncertain, doesn't it.
- 40:52Speaker 1: You put him on the I l from something that's
- 40:55Speaker 1: still been bothering him from last year. I think he'll
- 40:59Speaker 1: play again, but he'll be limited.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Louis well, Uh, that was a pretty impressive at bat
- 41:05Speaker 2: for Cavaliero his first time up, which put the Yankees ahead.
- 41:08Speaker 2: And I did see that.
- 41:11Speaker 1: What I'm saying is he deserves the spot over Volpi.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Even though I would say I would say he does
- 41:15Speaker 2: right now. Absolutely so, Uh, you know, we'll see what
- 41:19Speaker 2: happens with Volpi when he comes back. I guess he'll
- 41:21Speaker 2: be back around May first. I'm sure the kid is
- 41:25Speaker 2: working hard. We know Volpi is a hard worker. I
- 41:30Speaker 2: am not the Vulti besh or that most Yankee fans are,
- 41:34Speaker 2: and the most and like a lot of media, again,
- 41:40Speaker 2: it would be hard to trade him right now because
- 41:44Speaker 2: other teams that might have an interest in Vulpi, whether
- 41:46Speaker 2: the play a shortstop or even move him the second.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And you know, he was a year the year the
- 41:53Speaker 1: Yankees injury special, which is we're not gonna tell anybody
- 41:56Speaker 1: until September that he was injured since May.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Like, yeah, you're right there, that's true. But I like
- 42:05Speaker 2: the Yankees team, I really do. And I think the
- 42:08Speaker 2: American League He's is going to be much tougher this
- 42:12Speaker 2: year than it was last year.
- 42:14Speaker 1: And if it is true that Judge doesn't perform every night,
- 42:17Speaker 1: but you have eight other guys that can back him up,
- 42:19Speaker 1: that's so different than what I've seen in the past.
- 42:21Speaker 1: I mean, a couple of years ago, you had Soto
- 42:24Speaker 1: right there to support him and all that. But let's
- 42:27Speaker 1: face it, with Judge, it was always him or miss.
- 42:30Speaker 1: At least they have eight other guys that scored seven runs,
- 42:32Speaker 1: but he was hitless. I mean, that's how that's hopeful
- 42:35Speaker 1: right there. I know it's Opening Night, but Louis I
- 42:38Speaker 1: said to begin the show, every win in this kind
- 42:42Speaker 1: of condensed version of the game is say condensed because
- 42:45Speaker 1: I was growing up, eighteen nineteen times you're playing your
- 42:48Speaker 1: division rival. I mean, that was a lot of times
- 42:50Speaker 1: you played them, and that made it a longer season.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But these twelve times sort of shortened the whole thing up.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Alex, every game counts, every win counts. So let's let's
- 43:01Speaker 2: uh before we leave, let's jump to the New York Islanders,
- 43:05Speaker 2: who played a brilliant game on Sunday night. I must
- 43:08Speaker 2: win against Columbus. That's breathing down their neck. This NHL
- 43:12Speaker 2: Eastern Division playoff phrase is just incredible and Deanands played
- 43:18Speaker 2: a tremendous game, wonderful structure. They get an early goal
- 43:22Speaker 2: in the first minute by bo Horvat. Sorokan, who should
- 43:27Speaker 2: easily win the Vezeno Trophy this year and should get
- 43:30Speaker 2: a lot of MVP votes, shuts them out. They win
- 43:35Speaker 2: one nothing. The black Hawks come in on Tuesday night.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Landers got off to a fast start. They are all
- 43:40Speaker 2: over the Blackhawks. They get an early one nothing lead,
- 43:43Speaker 2: then they start coughing up the puck, no defensive structure
- 43:47Speaker 2: for a period and a half. They're down four to
- 43:50Speaker 2: one in the third period. They rally to make it
- 43:54Speaker 2: four to three, but the clock runs out on them. Tonight,
- 43:57Speaker 2: against a team that can win the Stanley Cup, the
- 43:59Speaker 2: Dallas Stars, a great hockey team, a deep hockey team
- 44:03Speaker 2: with a great goalie and Ottinger, a gold medalist for
- 44:07Speaker 2: the United States, the Islanders win two to one. They're
- 44:11Speaker 2: winning two nothing until the very end when Dallas pulled
- 44:15Speaker 2: a goalie to get an extra skater and they scored
- 44:18Speaker 2: with the empty net. But the Islanders held on to
- 44:22Speaker 2: win a must game two to one. They beat Columbus,
- 44:25Speaker 2: they beat Dallas and they lose to a team they
- 44:28Speaker 2: should have never lost to. Every game counts, and if
- 44:32Speaker 2: you're not focused on every game, it's going to catch
- 44:37Speaker 2: up with you somewhere along the line. You can go
- 44:40Speaker 2: back to this game, that game, you can go back
- 44:43Speaker 2: to a game two years ago. When you know you
- 44:46Speaker 2: lost home ice advantage or home field advantage by one game.
- 44:50Speaker 2: You're not gonna win them all. You know you're gonna
- 44:52Speaker 2: blow a couple of games. But the one that the
- 44:54Speaker 2: Islanders blew on Tuesday is unforgivable considering what they did
- 45:00Speaker 2: on Sunday night against Columbus and tonight against uh definite
- 45:05Speaker 2: Stanley Cup contender in UH on the what's the old edge?
- 45:09Speaker 1: You want to beat the teams that are weaker than you.
- 45:10Speaker 1: That that that's the definition of a strong team.
- 45:13Speaker 2: So absolutely they got they got cocky, They weren't concentrating.
- 45:19Speaker 2: They you know, Barzel turned over to Punkin didn't BacT check,
- 45:23Speaker 2: which led to a Torontoho and before you know what,
- 45:25Speaker 2: the black Hawks were four to one, no distress. Nobody
- 45:29Speaker 2: was checking their man, nobody was picking up their man
- 45:32Speaker 2: in his zone. I mean it was it was ridiculous
- 45:34Speaker 2: and that that game might cost them a shot the playoffs.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Let me tell you one thing, Alex. If the is
- 45:40Speaker 2: get in, depending on who they play, they're gonna be
- 45:43Speaker 2: a bitch to play. I'm gonna want to allay them.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you the interesting part of all this is,
- 45:49Speaker 1: I'm looking at the standings now. The Panthers are not
- 45:55Speaker 1: gonna make it. It looks like, you.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Know, the the Panther Panthers are not going to make it.
- 45:59Speaker 1: And that is quite a dramatic change because you know
- 46:03Speaker 1: back to back years and.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Well, you gotta remember, Alex, they they went to the
- 46:09Speaker 2: Stanley Cup Finals three years in a row. They played
- 46:12Speaker 2: about one hundred games three straight years. They've had injuries
- 46:17Speaker 2: catches up to you. That's that's what this is. And
- 46:21Speaker 2: they'll reset and they'll be a contender again next year.
- 46:25Speaker 2: The best thing for him for them is that they're
- 46:27Speaker 2: gonna have They're gonna have those two extra months off
- 46:32Speaker 2: instead of playing to June fifteenth or June thirteenth, or
- 46:35Speaker 2: whatever it will be Game seven or the Stanley Cup Final.
- 46:38Speaker 2: They'll have those two months off.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Wait did they take the did the oiler segment to
- 46:42Speaker 1: Game seven? Two years in a row.
- 46:44Speaker 2: No, last year, six, two years ago, seven.
- 46:48Speaker 1: And the Oilers, I'm looking at them. I mean, they'll
- 46:51Speaker 1: be in it, but.
- 46:52Speaker 2: But the division that they play, and the only reason
- 46:55Speaker 2: they're in it is because of the division that they
- 46:57Speaker 2: play in. The division's been bad this year.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I love that Utah second year in but you know,
- 47:05Speaker 1: they were strong last year for part of the year.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Now they're in it.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Now, I think they're going to get in.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I think they're gonna be in there in fifth spot
- 47:11Speaker 1: right now. And yeah, it's funny Dallas second ranked in
- 47:16Speaker 1: the division, in the conference and the Islanders read him,
- 47:19Speaker 1: but the Blackhawks, who were fifteenth of the conference, that is.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Uh yeah, no, it's that's that's crazy.
- 47:28Speaker 1: As we say, Louis, that's why we love the game.
- 47:30Speaker 2: That's yeah, absolutely, because it's played by human beings, not robots.
- 47:35Speaker 1: And even though I wasn't really thrilled with his cover,
- 47:39Speaker 1: his announcing, and I know you aren't either, I gotta
- 47:42Speaker 1: give props to vescers and for flying across the country.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Oh, I definitely do, and he was he was much
- 47:48Speaker 2: better today. I thought today's broadcast did the whole NBC
- 47:53Speaker 2: production what was solid?
- 47:58Speaker 1: And uh, lou when can I get a free lands
- 48:00Speaker 1: gig like that and just fly counts plates the place
- 48:02Speaker 1: and do games for different networks? But when does that
- 48:04Speaker 1: shot come? And I would love that.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I hope you hopefully you get your chance someday,
- 48:10Speaker 2: my friend.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I mean, it is fun to watch. I love watching
- 48:13Speaker 1: Kevin Harlan like do basketball and well this tournament, you know,
- 48:17Speaker 1: he always turns it up for them. But I love
- 48:20Speaker 1: during football. He's doing the NFL on Sunday, Monday night,
- 48:24Speaker 1: then he goes to TNT and does a game on
- 48:25Speaker 1: basketball like three days later. So what And Kenny Albert,
- 48:30Speaker 1: our buddy, Kenny Albert does the same thing. He does basketball, baseball, football,
- 48:34Speaker 1: It's it's amazing and hockey of course.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, I mean, well Kenny did. He did
- 48:41Speaker 2: a Ranger game on Monday at the Garden. I was
- 48:45Speaker 2: watching a little bit of that. Then he did the
- 48:48Speaker 2: Columbus Philadelphia game on TNT on Tuesday night, and then
- 48:52Speaker 2: last night the Rangers in Toronto at the Guy the Guy's.
- 49:00Speaker 1: And this is how bad the Rangers are. And none
- 49:02Speaker 1: of knock on Toronto, but I guess they scored three
- 49:05Speaker 1: unanswered goals against the Rangers and it's like, I can't.
- 49:11Speaker 1: It's an embarrassment right now, what's happening with the Rangers.
- 49:13Speaker 1: It's just it's an embarrassment.
- 49:16Speaker 2: So I tell you one thing. When the season began,
- 49:19Speaker 2: I thought the Rangers were set up to make to
- 49:22Speaker 2: make the playoffs and could could win a couple of
- 49:25Speaker 2: rounds or two. I really did.
- 49:27Speaker 1: We were we were talking how great it was that
- 49:29Speaker 1: Mike Sullivan joined, and then Paul Crider left a couple
- 49:32Speaker 1: of months or a month or so later, and then.
- 49:37Speaker 2: It's just, well, Crider and Shruber are both going to
- 49:40Speaker 2: be in the playoffs.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And I think I told you, I think that's the
- 49:44Speaker 1: best chance for them to get the ring. The Ducks
- 49:45Speaker 1: could really do something this year.
- 49:47Speaker 2: They might be a little young, but uh for this year.
- 49:51Speaker 2: But they got Alex. They got a heck of a
- 49:54Speaker 2: young team. And I'm sure Cryder and Shruber are using,
- 49:59Speaker 2: in parting a longtime NHL experience on these kids. But
- 50:04Speaker 2: they got They got a nice team. The Ducks.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Hey, they went from like whatever last year to fourth
- 50:11Speaker 1: rank in the conference this year. So they're doing all right.
- 50:15Speaker 1: They're doing all right, all right, Louis, Well, enjoy the
- 50:18Speaker 1: rest of this March madness.
- 50:19Speaker 2: I will.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I was like looking at the scheduled, boy, four games
- 50:23Speaker 1: on Thursday, four games tomorrow.
- 50:25Speaker 2: We are getting down to the nitty gritty and uh
- 50:31Speaker 2: and three days we'll have our final four teams.
- 50:37Speaker 1: And you know what, it's baseball season, which means we'll
- 50:39Speaker 1: be in October tomorrow, right, Louis.
- 50:41Speaker 2: That's it the way at one time to slow down
- 50:44Speaker 2: Alex a little bit. I wanted to slow down.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I know we have to see each other before the
- 50:49Speaker 1: new decade begins.
- 50:50Speaker 2: And that's right, Yes, we definitely will.
- 50:54Speaker 1: I mean, think about that, Louis survived five years of
- 50:56Speaker 1: this decade.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Already and it's like half way through. It's no, you're right,
- 51:02Speaker 2: time flies. So yeah, well clich and time flies.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I'm feeling it now with all this sport. That's the thing,
- 51:11Speaker 1: you know, February used to be a very blob.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Month for sports.
- 51:16Speaker 1: It was all of a sudden Now well also that's
- 51:19Speaker 1: because the Knicks weren't is good. But with the Knicks
- 51:21Speaker 1: good plus the Olympics, it really made it an interesting
- 51:24Speaker 1: month again this year.
- 51:26Speaker 2: So yeah, no, it did.
- 51:29Speaker 1: When our teams are hot, artsy, that that makes things
- 51:32Speaker 1: go faster. I guess. So there you go.
- 51:34Speaker 2: One last thing that you brought up basketball and that's
- 51:36Speaker 2: nothing to do with anything on the court. But but
- 51:40Speaker 2: I want to give I want to give this person
- 51:42Speaker 2: some recognition. My longtime friend and when we work together
- 51:50Speaker 2: at the nets. He's been a voice of the Nets
- 51:52Speaker 2: on wfa N and before that war for almost thirty years,
- 52:00Speaker 2: and he recently received the highest honor a basketball announcer
- 52:07Speaker 2: could receive. He's going to be inducted into the Basketball
- 52:11Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. He Chris Carrino won the Kurt Gowdy
- 52:17Speaker 2: Award for Basketball Broadcasting Excellence. He's a fantastic broadcaster. I
- 52:25Speaker 2: know him. I know him since the mid nineties, and
- 52:30Speaker 2: he's a wonderful human being, and he's a wonderful announcer.
- 52:33Speaker 2: And him and Tim Kapstraw, who has done over two
- 52:35Speaker 2: thousand NET games consecutively. He's seen a lot of losses
- 52:39Speaker 2: the last couple of years as they've been tanking, but
- 52:42Speaker 2: a great broadcast crew. And I just wanted to give
- 52:44Speaker 2: Chris Carino. Nobody deserves the Kirk Gally Award, which has
- 52:48Speaker 2: been won by people like Bob Costas and Kurt Goudie.
- 52:53Speaker 1: At Jim NaN's well, now I have a perfect reason
- 52:56Speaker 1: to drop my photo with Chris Carino from The Barkleys
- 52:59Speaker 1: a couple of.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Weeks go absolutely so congratulations to uh. I love how they.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Rigged it up. So, I mean you mentioned he's in
- 53:07Speaker 1: a power wheelchair. Hees, yes, he is, he's mobile, but
- 53:11Speaker 1: they rigged it up so he could just easily slide
- 53:14Speaker 1: into the play by play. And that to me is accessibility.
- 53:17Speaker 1: That's adapting a workspace for someone that truly deserves those
- 53:21Speaker 1: accommodations and works his ass off every night on the air.
- 53:25Speaker 1: And I've always enjoyed listening to him on the radio,
- 53:28Speaker 1: like he's just sort of another voice I grew up with,
- 53:31Speaker 1: I guess because I remember him doing those net games
- 53:33Speaker 1: for a long time now.
- 53:34Speaker 2: So yeah, no, he he's a great broadcaster. He's a
- 53:39Speaker 2: great friend. He's a great guy. You know.
- 53:41Speaker 1: And Jim, you never met Kirk Galdi though, right, No,
- 53:46Speaker 1: I never met Kirk Galli.
- 53:48Speaker 2: I never did. I never met the great Kirk Gallley.
- 53:52Speaker 2: You know when in the late in the seventies, Kirk
- 53:55Speaker 2: Galley did. He was the voice of everything. He was
- 53:58Speaker 2: the voice of the Final Four, he was the voice
- 54:00Speaker 2: of the Super Bowl, every other year. Why NBC had
- 54:03Speaker 2: it and he was voice of the World Series every year.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And now who has It's funny now who has baseball again?
- 54:09Speaker 2: NBC.
- 54:09Speaker 1: It's almost like full circle with that one.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what, it's a good it's a little
- 54:15Speaker 2: nostalgic kind of I kind of like that.
- 54:20Speaker 1: And they have all the old highlights of all the
- 54:23Speaker 1: you know, eighty nine. I guess Kirk Gibson's call was
- 54:26Speaker 1: on NBC.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Yes, it was, yes, Kirk Gibson that.
- 54:31Speaker 1: The game was on NBC.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Yep.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I mean wow, just some legendary moments. And of course,
- 54:39Speaker 1: my buddy Bob Costas has been back on NBC's there
- 54:42Speaker 1: tonight with the Dodger game. And you know, I remember
- 54:48Speaker 1: Team of the Decade and of course that's what he
- 54:51Speaker 1: called the Yankees back in ninety eight, and of course,
- 54:54Speaker 1: and I think he's a team of the century at
- 54:55Speaker 1: that point. And of course he called Jeters fan interference,
- 55:01Speaker 1: which is thirty years ago this year. That's crazy to
- 55:03Speaker 1: think about, Louis.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Yeah, well, they're lucky they didn't have instant replay in
- 55:07Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Well, Abs, and I mentioned this, I'm glad you mention
- 55:12Speaker 1: that real fast, Abs might actually affect the way umpire
- 55:17Speaker 1: training goes. I think that's going to be the effect
- 55:19Speaker 1: of this is if there's a percentage where the player
- 55:22Speaker 1: is right over the umpire, isn't that going to shift
- 55:25Speaker 1: the way these guys are like trained on the game.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I feel like there's gonna be an impact there.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Well, the one thing they have to do is they
- 55:31Speaker 2: got to concentrate, that's for sure, because they know that
- 55:37Speaker 2: they can be exposed. And the Mets twice challenged today
- 55:42Speaker 2: and both times the home play on Pio was incorrect
- 55:46Speaker 2: with his call.
- 55:47Speaker 1: And let me tell you a guy of like, these
- 55:52Speaker 1: guys have been playing ball forever and I seen it
- 55:54Speaker 1: at the college level. Two they know what a ball
- 55:56Speaker 1: and a strike is, you know, and finally they get
- 55:59Speaker 1: to say have a say in it. And I think
- 56:01Speaker 1: that's pretty cool because I think a baseball player's right
- 56:05Speaker 1: when he says that's a ball or strike. Like maybe
- 56:08Speaker 1: it's ego sometimes, but they know the game. They've been
- 56:11Speaker 1: at the plate for many years. You know, I'm not
- 56:13Speaker 1: going to doubt a baseball player. I'll tell you that much.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Well, the other thing is you get two challenges, Alex.
- 56:20Speaker 2: I think it should be unlimited because it takes no time.
- 56:25Speaker 2: It's not like a replay review. It's it's almost like
- 56:28Speaker 2: you know the tennis I you know, if if a
- 56:32Speaker 2: tennis ball isn't a shot is in and round, you know,
- 56:36Speaker 2: you only get two. I would just make it ten.
- 56:41Speaker 1: So they have two of those and then how many
- 56:43Speaker 1: three other challenges or something like that. I don't even
- 56:46Speaker 1: know exactly.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well, then you know you get two challenges and
- 56:52Speaker 2: then in the seventh or eighth inning it could be
- 56:54Speaker 2: a crew chief challenge.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:58Speaker 2: So as far as if like say, balls out of
- 57:00Speaker 2: the ballpark or a fair or foul situation or tag
- 57:03Speaker 2: out at second base.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Jim Joyce had that instant review back in the Galarraga
- 57:10Speaker 1: Perfect Game.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Note, Oh my god, Yeah, that's still there's.
- 57:14Speaker 1: So many calls that Well, the Santano one was clearly
- 57:17Speaker 1: a fair ball, but that was never going to be reviewed, So,
- 57:21Speaker 1: I mean.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Could would have been reviewed today because it hit in
- 57:27Speaker 2: front of it hit in front of the third base bag.
- 57:34Speaker 2: But again, the worst one is the Jeter fan interference,
- 57:38Speaker 2: because that could that changed the whole dynamic of that game, and.
- 57:42Speaker 1: A Bartman that would have been an interesting challenge. How
- 57:45Speaker 1: that would have gone that.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Would have been Yeah, that would have been an interesting challenge.
- 57:52Speaker 2: But I think, uh, you know, I think you got
- 57:56Speaker 2: to use all his video evidence he can in sports
- 57:59Speaker 2: that to get it right now. The thing is that
- 58:03Speaker 2: we're jumping around here before we get off. But the fan,
- 58:07Speaker 2: the goaltender interference has to be taken. They gotta take
- 58:10Speaker 2: a they gotta look at this again. I don't know
- 58:13Speaker 2: what goaltender interference is anymore. I really don't. Uh. The
- 58:18Speaker 2: Islanders got hit with a goaltender interference that definitely looked
- 58:21Speaker 2: like the Columbus defenseman pushed anders Lee into the goaltender
- 58:25Speaker 2: and they said, no, I don't know what they were
- 58:28Speaker 2: looking at in Toronto. But then the next night that
- 58:33Speaker 2: same play it can be called a good goal. I
- 58:37Speaker 2: don't know what they're looking at, Alex, So I think
- 58:39Speaker 2: that's something they got to look at.
- 58:41Speaker 1: So well, till next time, louis all right, Bud, we'll
- 58:48Speaker 1: we'll do this again, and uh, by next week we'll
- 58:51Speaker 1: have a final four matchup set and we'll also have
- 58:56Speaker 1: you know, NFL draft rumblings, tike eating up and and uh,
- 59:00Speaker 1: well may recap the first week of baseball after or
- 59:02Speaker 1: the first week in.
- 59:03Speaker 2: A be It will be exciting. Yeah, I'm looking forward
- 59:07Speaker 2: to it. And Alex, thank you as always. I appreciate.
- 59:11Speaker 1: And replica Ringo Saturday. Will you because I'll pick you
- 59:13Speaker 1: up if I can.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Hey, I appreciate that you were there.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Man, you were at those games.
- 59:19Speaker 2: I was. I was at those games. The greatest sporting
- 59:26Speaker 2: event and it could probably that'll be topped is Game six.
- 59:31Speaker 2: I've been to a lot of great sporting events, but
- 59:33Speaker 2: that one was surreal.
- 59:34Speaker 1: And people forget, you know, people forget the Red Sox
- 59:39Speaker 1: were up in both of those games. They were even
- 59:41Speaker 1: up in Game seven.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Three nothing in Game seven, and then the great Keith
- 59:47Speaker 2: Hernandez with the two runs single to make it three
- 59:49Speaker 2: or two. The Mets eventually tie it up, and then
- 59:51Speaker 2: right now I hit the home run to make it
- 59:53Speaker 2: four to three. The Mets were a couple more runs
- 59:55Speaker 2: than ending the bottom of the seventh to make it
- 59:57Speaker 2: six to three. You thought the Red Sox were dead.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: The Red Sox came back with two runs in the
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: top of the eighth to close it's six to five,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: and then Story hit a home or two run home
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: run to make it eight five, and Rosco sent them
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: down in order in the top of the ninth.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I know, you don't really see highlights from the seventh
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: game except for the Erosco throw of the glove. I mean,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: it's interesting you really only see Game six and then
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: the Erosco and you almost think it's all the same night.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: But it's two different nights.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Yes, it's two different nights. It was Saturday night and
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: then it was Game seven was supposed to be Sunday,
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: but Game seven got rained out and they played on
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Monday night.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Also NBC, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: AC correct. Yeah, well, and.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: The eighty nine earthquake was game was NBC as.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Well, because albe the eighty nine earthquake was ABC.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It was ABC, Okay, McCarver, michaels him. All right, Louis,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I don't want to keep you up too long here,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: but enjoy the rest of the enjoy the rest of
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: the suraman, and we'll talk to you soon.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Thank you, buddy, I appreciate it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: All right. That was lou Terminela Terminal take on one, look.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Up alex Media.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: All right,
