- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with I her radio. Hello,
- 0:05Speaker 1: trist A saturn A Wren. Oh, Ye're so funny that
- 0:11Speaker 1: you called me nay Wren all the time. What even
- 0:14Speaker 1: was that before I heard before you started saying it.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Well even, I saw it in the magazine once and
- 0:20Speaker 1: I was like, my name, Hey, where are you? That's
- 0:22Speaker 1: a cool backdrop. I actually um moved down to my office.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I feel like the lighting is better. And lighting is
- 0:29Speaker 1: a girl's best friend. Oh indeed it is. Yeah, helps
- 0:35Speaker 1: us guys out too, no question about it. I'm so
- 0:39Speaker 1: I am relegated to my normal guest room spot here.
- 0:43Speaker 1: But you'll notice there's some other stuff in here now
- 0:46Speaker 1: because our dishwasher in our base. So we finished our
- 0:49Speaker 1: basement right before COVID, and it was like the main
- 0:54Speaker 1: place in the house. My office is down there. We
- 0:56Speaker 1: have a movie room, a gym, a full kitchen. Kenyan
- 1:01Speaker 1: always says it's like her it's kind of like her
- 1:05Speaker 1: daycare for the kids when they come over. It's like
- 1:08Speaker 1: a huge roob. And the dishwasher down there basically exploded
- 1:12Speaker 1: in water two inches deep all over and noah. So
- 1:17Speaker 1: now we are in the process of a restoration company
- 1:21Speaker 1: coming in and doing all the damage restoration, ripping out
- 1:26Speaker 1: the floors. We had to get everything off the floor.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's just brutal. I am so sorry that happened to
- 1:32Speaker 1: one of our close friends recently too, And yeah, I
- 1:36Speaker 1: know it was brutal for them. I'm so sorry that
- 1:38Speaker 1: isn't But you know what though, enough about me, Trista,
- 1:41Speaker 1: Oh enough a value, Bob. We've got a guest in
- 1:45Speaker 1: the waiting room. I guess it. I'm pretty sure everyone
- 1:49Speaker 1: will know because he was a lead eleven years ago.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And do you think it's been flanic? That's how you
- 1:55Speaker 1: pronounce it. I would always say it was Flannic flan
- 2:00Speaker 1: yet But that's okay. We're gonna ask. We're gonna ask. Um.
- 2:04Speaker 1: We've got Ben in the waiting room, so we're excited
- 2:06Speaker 1: to talk to him if you guys want to send
- 2:07Speaker 1: him in. I think he went by Ben F at
- 2:12Speaker 1: one point, n Ashley Susan, Yeah, that's truly, you did.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He went by Ben F because they didn't want to
- 2:18Speaker 1: murder that last names on his Yeah. They do it
- 2:22Speaker 1: for everybody now. Oh yeah, everybody's got to get off
- 2:25Speaker 1: the show. And you're like, hmm, what's my list? Even
- 2:27Speaker 1: if you're the only Bob in there, you're Bob g
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know. But there aren't Bob's anymore. Bob's too basic
- 2:33Speaker 1: of a name. There's there's there's Ashley's, there's Allen's. They're
- 2:39Speaker 1: not dating Allen's Alexander. I mean, there's that's not even
- 2:42Speaker 1: that's too basic Bob and Ben he was, he was,
- 2:45Speaker 1: So it was bachelor Bob. Then it was bachelor Ben
- 2:47Speaker 1: because the anamana pia and the alliteration of it works
- 2:50Speaker 1: so nicely, the anamana pia Ben. Do you understand that?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Can you translate for me? Welcome, gentlemen, Welcome Ben f
- 2:59Speaker 1: to the A F O G Show. And the only
- 3:01Speaker 1: reason saying that as because Tristan and I have been
- 3:03Speaker 1: debating how to say your name properly. Ben. I say, yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 1: flan yek, She says flic flanic. I mean you're you're clothes.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You're both clothes. We're both wrong. It's yeah, it's a
- 3:17Speaker 1: tough one. It's flanic. It's silent Jay, you know, ask
- 3:20Speaker 1: my ancestors. But I actually rewind because I think I
- 3:24Speaker 1: said flanic and I said and I made it a
- 3:30Speaker 1: little more Spanish. I thought Ben maybe had a little
- 3:33Speaker 1: Scandinavian Spaniard in him. I said, oh no, it's actually flanic, Ben, Flanic,
- 3:41Speaker 1: not a Mexican dessert. Yeah, although I do love the flon. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: delicious flan. How are you, Ben? Welcome to the show Man.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I'm good, guys, Thanks for having me. Um, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: suddenly coming on. Finally get some sun in Sonoma. So beautiful,
- 3:59Speaker 1: so beautiful Sonoma. So been a rainy winter. Nine steps
- 4:03Speaker 1: and sunshine. That's gonna be good for your grapes though, right,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I mean that's gotta be great for the grapes. I
- 4:07Speaker 1: would think, yeah, it should be a nice little bumper
- 4:11Speaker 1: crop here. Those vines had the most time to sleep
- 4:14Speaker 1: they've had in a long long time. So yeah, expect
- 4:17Speaker 1: some good things from from up north. So Ben, this
- 4:20Speaker 1: is our first time meeting, isn't it. I mean I
- 4:22Speaker 1: don't feel like we've ever formally met, so nice to
- 4:24Speaker 1: officially meet you. And had you met Trista of course,
- 4:28Speaker 1: the fairy godmother of the Bachelor fan? I think so same, same.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I don't think keep away from us. We were we
- 4:34Speaker 1: were like two heavy influencers when Ben came along. Bob,
- 4:37Speaker 1: they keep everybody away from me? So recently they do.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I am such a dinosaur that I recently. I just
- 4:44Speaker 1: texted Rob Mills and Brook Carson and I was like,
- 4:47Speaker 1: did I do something wrong? Because everyone who is in
- 4:52Speaker 1: a relationship is going back on the show and like
- 4:55Speaker 1: giving advice and whatever. And I was like, should I
- 4:58Speaker 1: be taking this personally? Because I'm never asked to go
- 5:01Speaker 1: back on the show. So I'm sorry. We never met Ben,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure they've been keeping me away from
- 5:06Speaker 1: all the contestants since since forever ago. I disappeared pretty
- 5:11Speaker 1: quick after my season two so that that might be
- 5:13Speaker 1: the reason. And you know, I don't get asked to
- 5:15Speaker 1: do any of those things either. I love Rob Mills,
- 5:17Speaker 1: though we had some really fun times. That guy's the best.
- 5:20Speaker 1: He's awesome. He is. Oddly enough, I've never been invited either.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I wonder why. Well, we're the old Guard guys. That's right,
- 5:28Speaker 1: that's all right, old guard that actually works for OGS two.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I always say old gals and old guys, but old guard,
- 5:34Speaker 1: old guard is nice and in today's PC woke environment,
- 5:38Speaker 1: we're not offending anyone by saying old guard. I hope not.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean, you don't know you do. I just heard
- 5:45Speaker 1: from my friend who's a doctor, who said that you
- 5:48Speaker 1: cannot use the word the phrase provider anymore. Provider. Really interesting. Okay, Anyway,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I digress. So how are you Ben telling us? Tell
- 5:59Speaker 1: us all all about you? Like Ben obviously or Bob
- 6:02Speaker 1: obviously alluded to the grapes. So are you still in
- 6:05Speaker 1: the wine business? I mean not as much as I
- 6:08Speaker 1: used to be. Um. You know, during the height of
- 6:11Speaker 1: my show, I was very much winemaker Benum. Now I
- 6:15Speaker 1: make a few barrels for giggles, friends and family. Kind
- 6:19Speaker 1: of gotten out of that business. Um. And I've actually
- 6:24Speaker 1: most recently, um, I've I've I'm kind of dipping my
- 6:27Speaker 1: toe into television production and being on the other side
- 6:31Speaker 1: of the camera. Yeah. So I've been developing some some
- 6:34Speaker 1: TV shows and I'm not sure like if I'm at
- 6:37Speaker 1: Liberty to tell you, oh, you're at Liberty. I have
- 6:44Speaker 1: a I have a paper development to deal with a
- 6:46Speaker 1: very large streaming service right now, So I'm I might
- 6:51Speaker 1: need to keep it a little tight lipit. But That's
- 6:52Speaker 1: what I've been working on, is more of kind of
- 6:54Speaker 1: like the production TV film kind of things on this
- 6:57Speaker 1: sets congratulation is did this start like with the Bachelor
- 7:02Speaker 1: or Bachelorette. I guess because that was your first show.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Did that start back then or is this something brand new?
- 7:08Speaker 1: It's kind of something brand new. I think that, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: as you go through the show, I always remember being
- 7:13Speaker 1: fascinated with with the producers and their jobs and you know, saying,
- 7:17Speaker 1: their ability to work with people and pull certain things
- 7:20Speaker 1: out of you know, at certain people at certain times.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I always found myself to be fairly good at at
- 7:25Speaker 1: people also, so that was kind of like the more
- 7:28Speaker 1: the most interesting part of like television development and production
- 7:31Speaker 1: is that you get to scratch a lot of different
- 7:33Speaker 1: parts of your your brand, the creative side, the analytical side,
- 7:36Speaker 1: the you know, you're the task side, things like that,
- 7:39Speaker 1: And so for me it's I was shooting a little
- 7:43Speaker 1: sizzle pilot out in a couple of different locations late
- 7:46Speaker 1: last year, and I remember thinking to myself at one point,
- 7:49Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm really happy doing this. This is like
- 7:52Speaker 1: this is checking all the boxes for me. So you know,
- 7:54Speaker 1: who knows, maybe this is like my next career path.
- 7:57Speaker 1: But it's been really really fun to tell stories and
- 8:00Speaker 1: work with people and things like that. So good for you, man.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I think that's awesome. I actually I actually write after
- 8:07Speaker 1: what it wasn't right after, I guess, but probably two
- 8:10Speaker 1: thousand seven, eight nine, and my season was two thousand.
- 8:13Speaker 1: When was our stressed that we were two thousand and three,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and so I was late two thousand and three with
- 8:16Speaker 1: the Bachelor stuff. Um, but I remember a buddy of
- 8:20Speaker 1: mine approach me and we we actually had a couple
- 8:23Speaker 1: really good actually shows that we pitched. One was like
- 8:26Speaker 1: a restoration show for air streams. Oh cool, which was
- 8:31Speaker 1: a really cool idea, and we had all We filmed
- 8:34Speaker 1: it in Montana, which I thought was really cool because
- 8:37Speaker 1: I've never been there before and it was really beautiful,
- 8:39Speaker 1: and we did a bunch of shows and it was
- 8:42Speaker 1: It was really awesome because much like what Ben said it,
- 8:44Speaker 1: it kind of helped scratch that creative itch. And also
- 8:47Speaker 1: I was I was kind of like trying to get
- 8:50Speaker 1: away from being in front of the camera because I
- 8:52Speaker 1: was at that time it was like, you know, uh,
- 8:54Speaker 1: celebrity bull riding. You're like, no, thanks, I'm good. The
- 9:00Speaker 1: boxing ring. Yes, that I had talked about this. They
- 9:02Speaker 1: approached me like we want you on Celebrity Fear Factor.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm like, absolutely not, I'm not gonna be the Bachelor.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You can cow cow crap. You know, it's not having
- 9:10Speaker 1: did it for us, thank god. And he did a
- 9:12Speaker 1: much better job than I ever would have anyway. But
- 9:14Speaker 1: it was like, I was like, how do I how
- 9:16Speaker 1: do I still get my creative juices flowing without having
- 9:19Speaker 1: to embarrass myself? You know, it's a lot of work,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and you know what's interesting. And I'm sure you guys
- 9:25Speaker 1: you're nice people. You seem like nice people, right, you
- 9:28Speaker 1: probably kept up relationships with with people from the Bachelor franchise.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And you know, I'm ten plus years removed now, so
- 9:35Speaker 1: those those line producers, those supervising producers are now like
- 9:39Speaker 1: heads of yeah entities, and so they're you know those
- 9:44Speaker 1: calls if assuming you had a good relationship and we're
- 9:46Speaker 1: very respectful, Like they still pick up the phone, believe
- 9:49Speaker 1: it or not. It's nice and so and so that
- 9:52Speaker 1: was really nice for me to hear that this certain
- 9:54Speaker 1: individual that I called. I was like, hey, man, I
- 9:56Speaker 1: have this idea, and like I can I pitch you?
- 9:59Speaker 1: And and like I've already gone out and started shooting,
- 10:02Speaker 1: and like I'm paying for this thing, and he goes
- 10:04Speaker 1: for you anytime, man, think Yeah, of course. So now
- 10:07Speaker 1: we're way further along. So that's that's been. It's like
- 10:10Speaker 1: a family. It really is like a family. Yeah yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: pick up where you left off. You know, it's very dysfunctional.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I found the family on the production side to be
- 10:19Speaker 1: a little bit more welcoming, yeah yeah, right, yeah, or
- 10:23Speaker 1: more more interesting, I should say, outside of a couple
- 10:25Speaker 1: buddies from from my Bachelorette season, which I'm still very
- 10:28Speaker 1: close with. But yeah, are you who do you stay
- 10:31Speaker 1: in touch with? Um Lucas Daniels. He was, he was
- 10:35Speaker 1: on Ashley season with me. He's he's become one of
- 10:38Speaker 1: my best friends on planet Earth. And I was in
- 10:42Speaker 1: his wedding, you know, a decade ago, and I watched
- 10:44Speaker 1: his kids grow up, and I'm out in Odessa, Texas,
- 10:47Speaker 1: like twice a year, and he's just he's my favorite.
- 10:50Speaker 1: So that's a love it. I love hearing there because
- 10:53Speaker 1: I we um. You know, Trista and I obviously I
- 10:56Speaker 1: started off on Trista season and so many i mean
- 10:59Speaker 1: four or five the guys from that season and I
- 11:01Speaker 1: are still really close. And I always appreciated that from
- 11:05Speaker 1: the perspective, And I like that you say that, Ben,
- 11:07Speaker 1: because you know, I think the show's obviously gotten a
- 11:09Speaker 1: little bit different direction now. It seems like it's really
- 11:12Speaker 1: a lot more drama driven, a little more caddy, you know,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the guys. None of the guys even seemingly get along.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure they do, but but your season,
- 11:20Speaker 1: I remember thinking, I remember when they cast you as
- 11:22Speaker 1: a bachelor. I was I was really happy about it
- 11:24Speaker 1: because I watched Ashley's season and I really thought you
- 11:27Speaker 1: seem like such a nice, grounded guy, like just a
- 11:30Speaker 1: normal nice guy. And I was like, bash your bed man,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I like this guy. And so I love hearing that.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You know that I had you pegged properly that you are.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You know that you ended up having buddies from that show,
- 11:40Speaker 1: because that's the one of the biggest things trist I
- 11:42Speaker 1: hear about our season together was just how great everyone
- 11:46Speaker 1: got along with one another, and it's just a really
- 11:48Speaker 1: cool you know. There wasn't a lot of backbiting and
- 11:51Speaker 1: things of that nature, in which I think the show
- 11:53Speaker 1: has definitely changed in that regard. Do you still watch it, Ben,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I don't bother. But it's it's actually it's called trauma bombing,
- 11:59Speaker 1: that's what it's called. It's very true. I'm like, I'm
- 12:03Speaker 1: pretty sure that's like a clinical term trauma for sure,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and we laugh at it, but it's true serious, Yeah
- 12:12Speaker 1: I get that. Yeah, So what was that what I'm
- 12:16Speaker 1: sorry to like, you know, have like a therapy session,
- 12:19Speaker 1: but what was the most like the most traumatizing. Is
- 12:22Speaker 1: it like the producers and like how they're trying to
- 12:25Speaker 1: push your buttons or what ended up with Courtney or um? Like,
- 12:30Speaker 1: like tell me why you don't personally watch the show?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Um well, I think ay, I'm just I'm just a
- 12:38Speaker 1: bit too busy. Um yeah, I get that, you know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: there and there's there's so many others. I've just I've
- 12:45Speaker 1: watched enough of it, I think in my life and
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's been and I think that, you know, it is
- 12:50Speaker 1: kind of the same thing over and over season and
- 12:54Speaker 1: season out. Um ye, so I get it. Like if
- 12:57Speaker 1: I do watch it, it's the first night and then
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know, just to see who's on it. But you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: to your to your earlier point, like it's not the
- 13:04Speaker 1: same show, right. It feels to me, feels a little
- 13:07Speaker 1: icky like everyone's just kind of like there to boost
- 13:09Speaker 1: their social numbers and you know, start a career and God,
- 13:13Speaker 1: know what that that career is. Yeah, not for me,
- 13:19Speaker 1: and so I don't know. I just I find that
- 13:21Speaker 1: like the people that I know from and I still
- 13:24Speaker 1: communicate with from from those seasons, Um, you know, I
- 13:27Speaker 1: hold near and dear and I can kind of like
- 13:30Speaker 1: let it lay. Well. Yeah, but no, really really like
- 13:36Speaker 1: trauma trauma from you know, Courtney or the Producers or
- 13:40Speaker 1: anything like that. It's just like you're thrown into this experience.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It just feels so unnatural in the time, and so
- 13:46Speaker 1: like you're all like you guys know, you're all trying.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You're just trying to figure it out as fast as
- 13:50Speaker 1: humanly possible, and you're so tired. Yeah. Yeah, and I
- 13:55Speaker 1: think that's where like that trauma bonding um starts. It's
- 13:59Speaker 1: just like you're all like austed. They're like leaning on
- 14:01Speaker 1: each other for help and comfort along the way. You
- 14:05Speaker 1: hang in there, man, Yeah, that kind of thing. So yeah, well,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I mean I obviously my story is a bit different
- 14:13Speaker 1: than both of yours in terms of like actually finding
- 14:16Speaker 1: my person and having a successful relationship. So for me,
- 14:22Speaker 1: it's not necessarily traumatic, but I will say for Ryan
- 14:25Speaker 1: it is. I mean, he doesn't want to watch the show. Um,
- 14:27Speaker 1: so we all have our reasons, you know, why we
- 14:30Speaker 1: we would watch or you know, the memories that we
- 14:33Speaker 1: hold and the people that are important to us from
- 14:35Speaker 1: the show. I think that that makes a difference. Um,
- 14:39Speaker 1: do you talk to Corney or have you talked to
- 14:41Speaker 1: her in since the show? We yeah, yeah, yeah, we're
- 14:45Speaker 1: we're very cordial nowadays. You know, I think that there
- 14:48Speaker 1: was a there was a period of time there that
- 14:50Speaker 1: we were not not speaking to each other. Um, and
- 14:54Speaker 1: you know, I think that a number of years went
- 14:57Speaker 1: by and I was just like I don't like, let
- 14:59Speaker 1: bygones be I gons. We both went through this this
- 15:02Speaker 1: crazy thing and like, you know, best of luck to
- 15:04Speaker 1: you in life and congratulations on you know, your kids.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And my sister and her st still talk and so
- 15:10Speaker 1: you know, really yeah, yeah, yeah, there's no there's no
- 15:13Speaker 1: ill will or resentment or anything anymore. And like yeah
- 15:15Speaker 1: they're still they're still friendly and um, so yeah it's
- 15:18Speaker 1: all good. That's awesome. That's cool. I think, uh, some
- 15:32Speaker 1: some people carry that ill will for a long time.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And you know, I mean people sometimes look at me
- 15:38Speaker 1: like I'm crazy when I'm like, oh yeah, I still
- 15:40Speaker 1: talk to Kelly Joe and Estella and like we we've
- 15:42Speaker 1: had them both as guests on the show because it
- 15:45Speaker 1: was just, you know, it was fun to have them
- 15:47Speaker 1: on and catch up with them, and it was all
- 15:48Speaker 1: stuff I actually already knew. But sometimes people be like,
- 15:51Speaker 1: how did your wife feel about that? I'm like, my
- 15:53Speaker 1: wife doesn't care. Yeah, I mean, it's like my wife.
- 15:57Speaker 1: My wife won the proverbial, you know, it's the opposite
- 16:00Speaker 1: of like being a lotto winner when you you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: my wife basically end up married to me, so I
- 16:05Speaker 1: feel so terrible for her. She's like, oh, they're the
- 16:07Speaker 1: lucky ones that got away. Yeah, I'll talk to them now.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I hold them in high regard. Oh man, ye, but yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I think that's pretty cool. And I remember I remember, um,
- 16:20Speaker 1: you know, your season had some drama, which I'm sure
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, became one of those things that you carried
- 16:24Speaker 1: with you for a little while because you have to hear,
- 16:26Speaker 1: you know, people who don't know you coming up to
- 16:29Speaker 1: you on the street I'm sure and giving you their
- 16:31Speaker 1: take on you know, what you just did, and you're like, yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: first of all, that was like seven months ago. A yeah, uh,
- 16:39Speaker 1: not exactly how it played out, but three thank you
- 16:42Speaker 1: for your kind words. You know, I'm sure did you
- 16:45Speaker 1: have a lot of that after your season? Yeah? I did. Yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 1: And there and there was drama, you know, the whole
- 16:51Speaker 1: throughout throughout the season, and then even for for Courtingy
- 16:53Speaker 1: and I, you know, in particular where we had like
- 16:56Speaker 1: broken up and between like wall the show was airing,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and then like caught back together. So there was a
- 17:01Speaker 1: period between where we were both technically single and it
- 17:05Speaker 1: was just there was Yeah, and then the paparazzi thing.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I'll like, I'll never forget that being followed around in
- 17:12Speaker 1: San Francisco by paparazzi's and feeling like this is the
- 17:15Speaker 1: ickiest I've ever felt highlighted. Yeah, yeah, you felt like
- 17:19Speaker 1: so paranoid. I remember feeling the same. I mean, it's
- 17:23Speaker 1: just it's a weird feeling, you know, it's worst. Yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: And in that moment, I was like, I don't want
- 17:28Speaker 1: to be famous anymore. I don't like, in order I
- 17:30Speaker 1: ever want to be famous to begin with. I thought
- 17:31Speaker 1: this is going to be like a really fun story.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And I was a pretty naive I think to think that, like, oh,
- 17:37Speaker 1: just they forget about me the next year, you know,
- 17:39Speaker 1: And that didn't really happen. So that was it was.
- 17:42Speaker 1: It was hard on me, It was hard on yeah.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Well and two it was you were I think right
- 17:47Speaker 1: around the time that social media really started happening, you know,
- 17:50Speaker 1: for the Yeah Show, like Tris and I were before,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Like I think at best, there was maybe a my
- 17:55Speaker 1: Space kicking around back then. But you know, we always
- 17:58Speaker 1: talk about reading the chat room and you know, going
- 18:01Speaker 1: down that rabbit hole and feeling depressed for months on end.
- 18:04Speaker 1: But then you came along. You were you were a
- 18:06Speaker 1: good eight or nine years after us, so you would
- 18:08Speaker 1: have been twenty and twelve or twenty yea. Yeah, so
- 18:11Speaker 1: like Twitter was a thing, Instagram had just started, just started. Yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 1: so you were definitely dealing with a lot of that.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I mean, did you were you were you a fool
- 18:21Speaker 1: like us? Did you occasionally actually read what people would
- 18:23Speaker 1: post and then end up in manic depression for like
- 18:25Speaker 1: a month? Well, not so much of the depression. I found.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I found a lot of it to be quite quite hilarious.
- 18:32Speaker 1: You know, there aren't a lot of good Yeah, you
- 18:37Speaker 1: have you have to be able to laugh it off, right,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you have to do otherwise, Um, you know, it probably
- 18:43Speaker 1: doesn't end well for for people who are yeah, you know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: thrown thrown to the wolves like that. But yeah, there
- 18:49Speaker 1: there was like one meme in particular that I still
- 18:52Speaker 1: think it's hilarious, and I actually showed my my girlfriend
- 18:56Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. It just came up. It
- 18:58Speaker 1: was there's like a you know the cartoon Arthur, there's
- 19:01Speaker 1: that cartoon character of Francine hair, and my hair was
- 19:06Speaker 1: styled so poorly on that show, and it was like
- 19:08Speaker 1: when like Ben looks like Francine or whatever it was,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and it's just uncanning and hilarious. Look it up. I
- 19:16Speaker 1: was gonna say, you know, so, one of the things
- 19:18Speaker 1: that was said to me once on a talk show
- 19:19Speaker 1: I remember. What I can't remember was this during your
- 19:21Speaker 1: season was they were like, they popped up a picture
- 19:24Speaker 1: of my hair from when I was the Bachelor, which somehow,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I mean, I swear, as God is my witness, I've
- 19:30Speaker 1: never had a perm but man, it sure looked like
- 19:32Speaker 1: I'm this tiny tim And then they put me up
- 19:35Speaker 1: next to you and they're like, these have got to
- 19:36Speaker 1: be the two guys, two very sweet and nice guys
- 19:40Speaker 1: with the two worst haircuts of any bachelor in the
- 19:43Speaker 1: history of Bachelor. I was just getting roasted right next
- 19:45Speaker 1: to you, and I'm like, I got the honest Ben's
- 19:47Speaker 1: looks pretty good compared to fly. Oh man, there we go.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's my gosh, Easton coming through with
- 19:57Speaker 1: the meme that is um amazing. You just need the
- 20:04Speaker 1: little barrettes like right here. Oh my god, what I
- 20:07Speaker 1: wouldn't do to put some Bretts style that for him? Yeah?
- 20:12Speaker 1: Where was Fatman with the hair styling back then? Why
- 20:15Speaker 1: did we have with you? No, Gina, Gina did the
- 20:18Speaker 1: hair makeup. Fetman's always on point with the style. I
- 20:22Speaker 1: love Ky Fetman. I'm still telling every once in a
- 20:25Speaker 1: while with him in LA and be like, hey, Carrie,
- 20:27Speaker 1: how are you? Yeah as well, Yeah that's good. I'm glad.
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm glad that you had all that hook up to
- 20:34Speaker 1: I mean because but we'll have to we'll have to
- 20:36Speaker 1: get Gina on the show and ask her, you know
- 20:38Speaker 1: why she forgot to style my hair? Actually that's just
- 20:40Speaker 1: not needs to be on the show. And Carrie, well,
- 20:43Speaker 1: we had carry did we call in? We tried to
- 20:45Speaker 1: have him on, but we called Remember we called Do
- 20:49Speaker 1: you remember something? I do remember I remember we did something.
- 20:52Speaker 1: But yeah, anyway, Okay, I have a question for you guys,
- 20:55Speaker 1: because Carrie Fetman. So, if Carrie Fetman liked you enough,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and I don't know if that he did this at
- 21:00Speaker 1: the time, but if he liked you as as a
- 21:02Speaker 1: human being, he would send you home with the Bachelor
- 21:05Speaker 1: Bachelor wardrobe. He didn't, he would keep it for the
- 21:09Speaker 1: next season or what it was. I remember I showed
- 21:13Speaker 1: up back in my house in San Francisco and there
- 21:14Speaker 1: were like six suitcases on my front doorstep one day.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's amazing for me. I had like
- 21:21Speaker 1: three tough sitos. I'm like, what it was amazing too.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I still have that I can say that, I can't
- 21:32Speaker 1: say that I can promise you a couple of the
- 21:34Speaker 1: sweaters I'm good with. But uh yeah, it's funny. No, Actually,
- 21:38Speaker 1: Carrie was not my stylist, that's right. First season, so
- 21:44Speaker 1: I think I might have told this story before I
- 21:47Speaker 1: had a connection to Sachs. I ended up making a
- 21:50Speaker 1: deal with sacksfith Avenue and got went shopping. This is
- 21:53Speaker 1: my own thing, like, it had nothing to do with producers.
- 21:56Speaker 1: So I get all this stuff and I'm all prepared
- 22:00Speaker 1: and halfway through I'm going in my closet and I'm like, wait,
- 22:04Speaker 1: where are my clothes? And they're like, oh, we've been
- 22:07Speaker 1: selling them. What selling them? So they sold them. There's
- 22:12Speaker 1: like these soap opera things where they sell clothes in LA.
- 22:16Speaker 1: They sold my clothes. So I was the one who
- 22:19Speaker 1: organized all of this stuff and I ended up keeping like,
- 22:23Speaker 1: you know, a few of the form addresses and whatever.
- 22:26Speaker 1: But they sold my clothes, not christ To be fair,
- 22:30Speaker 1: they had to pay for your in Ryan's wedding somehow.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I mean, the show couldn't have been making money. It
- 22:40Speaker 1: only had thirty million. They weren't making any money. Actually Ryan,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and Ryan just said what we should have done because
- 22:48Speaker 1: he just heard about someone who did some kind of
- 22:50Speaker 1: crazy deal. We should have said, well, it will take
- 22:54Speaker 1: five hundred thousand dollars because Ben, I don't know if
- 22:56Speaker 1: you know this, but we got paid a million dollars
- 22:58Speaker 1: for the wedding, so they we did. We did, yes,
- 23:02Speaker 1: thank you, but we were like, we should have gotten
- 23:05Speaker 1: five hundred thousand and then said give us like fifty
- 23:09Speaker 1: or one hundred thousand every year that the show stays on, right,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and then we'd just consistently be bankrolled by the show. Like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I don't know why we didn't think about that, but yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: that would have been a great insights twenty twenty. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 1: sure is Yeah, I'm sure wouldn't have allowed that first. Yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 1: it was generous back then. I don't think. Oh no,
- 23:31Speaker 1: we got in a fight about this whole negotiation for
- 23:33Speaker 1: the wedding. But you know, they ended up they ended
- 23:36Speaker 1: up paying. They wanted it, you know, they wanted it,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and they realized that it would be, you know, pretty much,
- 23:42Speaker 1: um an, you know, a home run for them. It was.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It was a beautiful, beautiful event, and I was proud
- 23:48Speaker 1: and excited to be here. You're very thank you. I
- 23:50Speaker 1: know it was fine. Um okay, So Ben, you mentioned
- 23:53Speaker 1: a girlfriend. I would love to know the story behind
- 23:57Speaker 1: your present love life if you're willing to go to share.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I think I think, out of respect for her, I'm
- 24:05Speaker 1: just going to decline. She's really really lovely. She's really
- 24:08Speaker 1: really lovely, and um yeah, we've we've talked about this,
- 24:12Speaker 1: you know, we've it's it's quite serious. Yeah, if I'm
- 24:15Speaker 1: going to be like doing these kind of public engagements
- 24:18Speaker 1: that like, she doesn't really want to be a part
- 24:20Speaker 1: of it, and I don't really want her to totally that. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I will tell you. Yeah, I have to ask but questions.
- 24:29Speaker 1: We're journalists now, but I will tell you we're Poduluss,
- 24:33Speaker 1: We're Podolus. I will tell you my life's the same way.
- 24:35Speaker 1: My wife has zero interest. Like to get her to
- 24:39Speaker 1: even do a red carpet with me is a very
- 24:41Speaker 1: big challenge. And yeah, so I mean we've done you know,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I've done the Kentucky Derby eighteen years in a row. Now,
- 24:50Speaker 1: no she comes, I mean the beginning that will send
- 24:56Speaker 1: the pop the PEPs wagon. Um, but yeah, she she
- 25:01Speaker 1: I remember you, you came one year, didn't you. Didn't you? Yeah?
- 25:05Speaker 1: I thought, were you at the same event I was
- 25:07Speaker 1: at that we meet at that event? I don't think
- 25:09Speaker 1: so I was okay, yeah so um but yeah, so
- 25:15Speaker 1: so we I've been going for eighteen This would be
- 25:17Speaker 1: my eighteenth year. And she comes every year. But she
- 25:21Speaker 1: like I can get her on the red carpet on
- 25:22Speaker 1: Derby Day, but like at the gala, no interest. Right
- 25:26Speaker 1: at the Oaks, she's like taking pictures with her phone
- 25:29Speaker 1: or people walk up be like, oh can we get
- 25:31Speaker 1: a picture with you? She's like, I'll take it for you,
- 25:32Speaker 1: Like hey, you look at amazing, like she's always like here,
- 25:35Speaker 1: you know you guys, you know, look at you and
- 25:36Speaker 1: it's interesting. But my yeah, I think that's interesting because
- 25:39Speaker 1: I happen to know that our our our dear friend, Ryan,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Ryan Sutter is he's not camera shy, but he certainly
- 25:46Speaker 1: isn't the guy that's run into a red carpet either.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And um, you know, I mean I remember Tristan I
- 25:52Speaker 1: actually doing a couple of red carpets together and Ryan's
- 25:54Speaker 1: like out in the crowd, going, hey, I love you.
- 25:57Speaker 1: But it was like Ryan doesn't. He just doesn't care,
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know, and can't. My wife's like that And it
- 26:01Speaker 1: sounds like your girlfriend's like that too. Maybe that's maybe
- 26:04Speaker 1: that's the mix that's needed, you know a successful relationship.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Sweet spot. Yeah, I mean, he just doesn't like it,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and you have to respect that, you know, got to
- 26:12Speaker 1: respect it. Yeah, whatever floats about, I think, um, And
- 26:16Speaker 1: and that's great of you to respect her privacy? Did
- 26:19Speaker 1: you can I ask if you guys met how you met?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Was it like through friends or a dating app or
- 26:26Speaker 1: we met locally? We met locally here in uh in Napa, Sonoma.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So we're just got it. Yeah, we met locally. We're
- 26:37Speaker 1: still sniffing around this thing, so to speak to that then,
- 26:42Speaker 1: I mean, I've always been fascinated with this because you're
- 26:44Speaker 1: much younger than me. Did you have you ever after
- 26:47Speaker 1: the Bachelor experience? Did you ever go on a dating app?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Were you ever a dating app guy? And if so,
- 26:53Speaker 1: was it like ridiculous? Like I always thought, you know,
- 26:56Speaker 1: oh my god, if you go on there after like
- 26:58Speaker 1: something like The Bachelor, I'm sure it's almost like you
- 27:01Speaker 1: you'd have to have like a filter on there because
- 27:03Speaker 1: it would just be like a bunch of people who
- 27:05Speaker 1: wanted to meet you for like almost like you know,
- 27:07Speaker 1: they want to look at the freak in the zoo
- 27:08Speaker 1: type of thing. Um, I wasn't share, you know, no
- 27:12Speaker 1: date dating as you guys probably know, like dating was
- 27:14Speaker 1: really really hard after the show because you never knew
- 27:19Speaker 1: you don't even know what people's interests were, right where
- 27:21Speaker 1: did they just like you said, did they just want
- 27:23Speaker 1: to go out on the date with the Bachelor? Do
- 27:25Speaker 1: they actually like want to get to know me as
- 27:26Speaker 1: a as a human being? Um? I think I had
- 27:30Speaker 1: a variety. Yes, I was on the dating apps, um,
- 27:33Speaker 1: you know, on and off for you know, a decade, right, um,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and then some some people will I think some people
- 27:41Speaker 1: thought it was like a fake profile, like what's this guy? Actually,
- 27:43Speaker 1: what's it doing here? Um? And others yeah, others. You know,
- 27:48Speaker 1: I had some fairly successful relationships, you know, not long
- 27:52Speaker 1: long term, but you know, yeah, it's it's it's it's
- 27:56Speaker 1: the way to meet people these days. So yeah, I was,
- 27:58Speaker 1: you know, overall good exerience on the dating apps, just
- 28:01Speaker 1: because you can kind of like turn them off, turn
- 28:04Speaker 1: them on. And I think the big thing that I
- 28:07Speaker 1: realized was you can't. You can't like everyone, right, You
- 28:11Speaker 1: just got to keep it to like a small to
- 28:13Speaker 1: five people that you're chatting with, because then you get
- 28:16Speaker 1: like the fatigue of all these conversations and then you
- 28:19Speaker 1: just shut it off. You're like, oh, I'm done, right,
- 28:22Speaker 1: But you've already you've already gone through the gamut of
- 28:25Speaker 1: dating thirty people at once. You know, Yeah, we can
- 28:36Speaker 1: say that to each other. We can say that to
- 28:38Speaker 1: each other because we all did that. We can actually
- 28:40Speaker 1: like each other. We can't, we can, but we can. Yeah.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Oh people can mess with us the time, I know,
- 28:48Speaker 1: I know. Um, okay, switching gears. So I heard that
- 28:51Speaker 1: you wrote a children's book. Can you tell us about that?
- 28:54Speaker 1: I did actually wrote a series of children's books, um,
- 28:59Speaker 1: requires Yeah, yeah. Um. It's about this trio of flies
- 29:03Speaker 1: that live at the airport and they travel around the world.
- 29:06Speaker 1: They board commercial airliners and travel around the world teaching
- 29:09Speaker 1: kids about um, you know, acceptance of other cultures and
- 29:12Speaker 1: people and food and you know, fears of flying and
- 29:16Speaker 1: stuff like that. That is so cool. Is it is
- 29:19Speaker 1: this recent or a while ago? Um? I wrote the
- 29:23Speaker 1: first book in like twenty twenty, and then the second
- 29:26Speaker 1: and third and twenty one twenty two. Was this a
- 29:29Speaker 1: COVID baby? This was a COVID baby for my niece. Yeah,
- 29:33Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I love it. What's it? What are
- 29:36Speaker 1: they called? Frequent flyers? And it's get How do we
- 29:39Speaker 1: get the frequent flyers? Where do we find these? They're
- 29:41Speaker 1: all on Amazon. Yeah, it's all everything and Amazon everything.
- 29:47Speaker 1: That's awesome. Um. Is it a picture book or is
- 29:49Speaker 1: it a chapter book? Um? It's as both. I think
- 29:53Speaker 1: it's a children's book, kind of trying to know the difference.
- 29:55Speaker 1: It has pictures and word and there are different chapters,
- 30:00Speaker 1: so the pictures and words, so I guess it's no.
- 30:08Speaker 1: The the illustrator was actually an animator. I found he's
- 30:11Speaker 1: um Parisian and um, so we've done some like animated.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Did you say yeah, Paris Parisian? Oh, Parisian. I thought
- 30:21Speaker 1: you said core Resian like Korea and I heard of that. Understood,
- 30:27Speaker 1: got it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, perfect. Yeah. All the books
- 30:30Speaker 1: are dedicated to my my five year old niece, Josephine.
- 30:33Speaker 1: That is very Yeah. How many niece do you have?
- 30:40Speaker 1: One niece, Josephine named after my late father, Joseph. And
- 30:43Speaker 1: then we have Grant, who's my nephew. And he's just
- 30:48Speaker 1: he's like eighteen months and he's like the sweetest, biggest
- 30:51Speaker 1: he's such a little tank. He's on the ninety let's see,
- 30:54Speaker 1: he had his check up. My sister was talking my
- 30:56Speaker 1: sister last week. Last week he's ninety nine percentile for
- 31:00Speaker 1: eight and head size. Sweet, this little kid, it's gonna
- 31:05Speaker 1: be like six seven, three hundred pounds offensive line. Yeah,
- 31:07Speaker 1: a little meat ball. I like it. Yeah yeah yeah.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So being close to your niece and nephew, does this
- 31:24Speaker 1: satisfy like any urges to have children over your own?
- 31:28Speaker 1: Do you want to have kids? Yeah? I think um?
- 31:33Speaker 1: I was the children thing was was very much up
- 31:36Speaker 1: in the air until this last relationship, and now I'm like,
- 31:40Speaker 1: let's I would love to have children. Yeah, that's awesome
- 31:44Speaker 1: when you know, you know, because I I will say
- 31:46Speaker 1: I was forty eight when I had my first child.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Took me a while. Yeah, yeah, but uh, both boys.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You have two boys now four and one and a half,
- 31:57Speaker 1: thank you. And the one and a half year old,
- 31:59Speaker 1: much like you're a few is a is a meatball,
- 32:01Speaker 1: a tank. I mean, he's he's a monster. He's yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 1: he's just pushing my older son Grayson around all the time.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my gosh, but um, but yeah, I
- 32:08Speaker 1: think it's like one of those beautiful things in life
- 32:10Speaker 1: when you all of a sudden feel like like I
- 32:12Speaker 1: didn't think I wanted to be, you know, married again
- 32:15Speaker 1: because I was divorced. I was like, oh, think I
- 32:16Speaker 1: want to be married again. I don't, you know, I
- 32:18Speaker 1: think like being single this is fine. And then I
- 32:20Speaker 1: met someone who was like, I'd like to have a
- 32:22Speaker 1: family with her. Yeah, that's a different feeling. It was
- 32:25Speaker 1: totally different. Yeah, And all of a sudden that just
- 32:27Speaker 1: took over, you know, and here we are, So I think,
- 32:30Speaker 1: you know, that's pretty that's a really cool thing to
- 32:32Speaker 1: come to in life, especially, I think a little a
- 32:35Speaker 1: little more mature, you know, not that you're old, because
- 32:38Speaker 1: I mean I'm I'm old, but you know, I think
- 32:41Speaker 1: you're a little old. Yeah, you're in your forties. Whereas
- 32:44Speaker 1: that god that was unheard of to get married in
- 32:45Speaker 1: your forties back in the day, right, it was in
- 32:47Speaker 1: your twenties, or you don't do it. So I think
- 32:49Speaker 1: it's pretty cool. Congratulations on on just the the willingness
- 32:54Speaker 1: to be open to the idea. Yes, yeah, right it is.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And congrets to you for for finding it right. It's
- 32:59Speaker 1: that's it's actually after coming out of a serious relationship
- 33:02Speaker 1: and a marriage, right like that. Yeah, that's probably even harder.
- 33:05Speaker 1: So I'm good at And like your two boys. Your
- 33:07Speaker 1: two boys are they like the light of your life? Right?
- 33:10Speaker 1: Oh my god, I didn't even know. I mean, it's
- 33:12Speaker 1: kind of funny because Trista, you know, Trista and Ryan
- 33:14Speaker 1: did it right, you know what I mean, Like they
- 33:16Speaker 1: their kids aren't right, we did it differently. You did.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Definitely their kids are. You know, they're gonna be their
- 33:21Speaker 1: best friends because they're closer in age, and my kids
- 33:24Speaker 1: are gonna be looking at like Grandpa, Grandpa. Dad's nice,
- 33:26Speaker 1: you know, but but I will say, like, I am
- 33:28Speaker 1: so in love with them and it has changed my life.
- 33:31Speaker 1: And I think that's one of the things, like when
- 33:32Speaker 1: you are older, you might have a different appreciation h
- 33:36Speaker 1: than than you would have as a younger father. Not
- 33:39Speaker 1: saying that the appreciation isn't there for the younger dads too,
- 33:42Speaker 1: but it's just different, right, It's different because of your
- 33:44Speaker 1: experience level and you're not at that point where you
- 33:45Speaker 1: want to go out all the time and you feel
- 33:47Speaker 1: like your kids are robbing. You have something like I'm like, man,
- 33:49Speaker 1: my whole life been a bachelor party. I don't need
- 33:51Speaker 1: to go anywhere. I'm good, dude, I'm the same. I'm
- 33:53Speaker 1: the same way. Everyone's like, well, things are going great,
- 33:55Speaker 1: where's the bachelor party. I'm like, honestly, dude, I don't
- 33:57Speaker 1: think I'm doing one. I've done like four hundred and
- 34:00Speaker 1: every weekend was like a bachelor party. So like, yeah,
- 34:02Speaker 1: I'm not good. I'm good. Let's just go golfing. I
- 34:08Speaker 1: love it. I mean, kids are are the light of
- 34:12Speaker 1: my life, for sure. Our kids are kind of my
- 34:14Speaker 1: whole world. So however they know but they're Oh my god,
- 34:18Speaker 1: I keep saying thirteen. She just turned fourteen, and so
- 34:21Speaker 1: Blakesley is my daughter fourteen, and then fifteen is Max
- 34:24Speaker 1: and he'll be sixteen. And was just driving me home
- 34:28Speaker 1: from the dentist deppointment. I was like, you want to
- 34:29Speaker 1: drive on sority it buckle up, momule up, not buddy.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Um No, it's a it's a whole new world, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 1: the teenage years. But yeah, there is there is some
- 34:47Speaker 1: truth to I feel like being younger, but I also
- 34:52Speaker 1: feel like it just depends on the relationship. It just
- 34:54Speaker 1: depends on the person. You can be your boy's best friend, Bob.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think that won't happen. My son
- 35:00Speaker 1: tells me every day that I am so that makes
- 35:02Speaker 1: me feel like a million dollars. Oh my gosh. You
- 35:04Speaker 1: have to record that. I know literally that I laid
- 35:08Speaker 1: out with him every night and he's like, Daddy, you're
- 35:10Speaker 1: my best friend. And I'm like, a bas has recently
- 35:16Speaker 1: said that to me. Um And I literally wrote it
- 35:21Speaker 1: in like the notes on my phone, like what she
- 35:23Speaker 1: exactly said, and she was like, of all my friends,
- 35:27Speaker 1: you're my best friend. It was like, oh my gosh, anyway.
- 35:37Speaker 1: So I think that you know, it just depends on
- 35:40Speaker 1: the person um, and I think that's really cool. I'm
- 35:43Speaker 1: really happy for you. Thank you. You get to a
- 35:46Speaker 1: certain point in life and it's like I think, Bob,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like as a long time you know bachelor, It's like,
- 35:52Speaker 1: what the hell's the point, right if you can't just
- 35:54Speaker 1: like keep going out every weekend and you know, doing
- 35:57Speaker 1: the same old right, like exact point and you look it.
- 36:00Speaker 1: You know, my my sister's children changed changed my life
- 36:03Speaker 1: and perception of it all today. Yeah oh yeah, yeah,
- 36:07Speaker 1: yeah big time. And my mom's too, right, So my
- 36:09Speaker 1: dad passed away a number of years ago, and my
- 36:11Speaker 1: mom has she's been on her own for the most part.
- 36:14Speaker 1: And you know, now Josephine's her best friend and like
- 36:17Speaker 1: they just go gallivanting and biking through Sonoma and you know,
- 36:21Speaker 1: they just they have the best little relationship. It's great.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It's great to see a change. Does your mom pressure
- 36:27Speaker 1: you at all? Never? She never she never did, never had.
- 36:30Speaker 1: She's just like very happy for me now. So yeah, yeah,
- 36:34Speaker 1: that's so good. Yes, I love man, Ben, this is good.
- 36:38Speaker 1: I'm so glad we got to thank you and thanks
- 36:40Speaker 1: for being willing to come on the show and talk
- 36:43Speaker 1: to us about you know, where you are today and
- 36:45Speaker 1: everything else. And I would encourage everyone to get on
- 36:47Speaker 1: Amazon and look for frequent flyers because I know I'm
- 36:50Speaker 1: going to do it. Yes, great, you're welcome. Yeah, thank
- 36:55Speaker 1: you so much for being here. Good luck with all
- 36:59Speaker 1: these big decisions coming up in your near future, the production,
- 37:03Speaker 1: the television stuff, the relationship, all of it. So um,
- 37:07Speaker 1: we don't just wish you all the best. Yeah, thank you,
- 37:11Speaker 1: Ben Planic got all right. Yeah, he's an almost famous
- 37:16Speaker 1: ogina you making note? Did you write it down? And
- 37:18Speaker 1: then you're like, I'm like, don't say it with the
- 37:21Speaker 1: tildy on the end like I did the first time.
- 37:23Speaker 1: If you guys are ever up in Sonoma too, you know,
- 37:26Speaker 1: please please look me up. You know, I've still got
- 37:28Speaker 1: a small little wine wine thing going on. And he goes,
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know who doesn't love wine tasting. So I'll take
- 37:34Speaker 1: care of you guys. Yeah, we'll make sure we get
- 37:36Speaker 1: your number and I'll text you my digit so you
- 37:39Speaker 1: have them too. And um, you know, if you're ever
- 37:41Speaker 1: swinging through Detroit, which so many people it is a destination,
- 37:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, really on a hot list for people
- 37:47Speaker 1: on this travel season. So when you're rolling through the
- 37:50Speaker 1: motor city, you know, holler at me, and I know
- 37:53Speaker 1: I would say the same about Bill. But um, and
- 37:56Speaker 1: I don't know if I've talked about this on the podcast,
- 37:57Speaker 1: but we're moving. So yeah, wait to Denver. H Oh
- 38:03Speaker 1: my god, that's awesome. That's another episode for the other time. Yeah, totally.
- 38:10Speaker 1: My husband's firefighters. Yeah, and he's been working for Denver
- 38:14Speaker 1: for the last two three years and the commune is
- 38:18Speaker 1: just killing him because it's two hours back and forth.
- 38:20Speaker 1: So um, so we are going to make the move crazy.
- 38:24Speaker 1: That's exciting. I'm excited for you guys. I think that's great.
- 38:28Speaker 1: And you can you know, who knows, maybe you can
- 38:30Speaker 1: keep the place in veil rent it out in the
- 38:32Speaker 1: off season. Yeah. Well, Ben, thank you buddy, take care
- 38:36Speaker 1: and best wishes with everything. Thank you appreciate it. Likewise,
- 38:40Speaker 1: Ben Flannic, everybody, I really like that guy. Yeah, that
- 38:45Speaker 1: was awesome and I'm happy for him. I'm so happy
- 38:47Speaker 1: that he is finally. And I do have to say,
- 38:50Speaker 1: even though I have to ask the question because everyone
- 38:52Speaker 1: wants to know, like arguing in a relationship, Yeah, we
- 38:56Speaker 1: have to ask, but I really love that he respects
- 39:00Speaker 1: did her privacy and doesn't want to share the details.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I think that's great. That is great. I mean, you know,
- 39:05Speaker 1: it's funny. I I in my mind, I was gonna
- 39:07Speaker 1: remind myself, and I just now thought of it after
- 39:10Speaker 1: we hang up the phone with them. But I don't
- 39:12Speaker 1: know if you remember, but at the time, the tablaid's
- 39:14Speaker 1: got a hold of something about him and Chris Jenner.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Do you remember that? What? Yeah, and it was they
- 39:20Speaker 1: were friends, but they were friends, that was it. And
- 39:24Speaker 1: the tablids you're trying to put a spin on it.
- 39:25Speaker 1: And I remember because I was friends with Chris Jenner too,
- 39:28Speaker 1: and I saw her at something and I said, yeah,
- 39:32Speaker 1: the tablaids are having a field day with poor bachelor Ben.
- 39:35Speaker 1: And she's like, She's like, I know, you can't even
- 39:37Speaker 1: be friends with anybody these days. And Chris Jenner, you know,
- 39:40Speaker 1: people think whatever they want to about her, but she's
- 39:42Speaker 1: a lovely person. And I was always like, yeah, I'm like, man,
- 39:46Speaker 1: we gotta we gotta throw them off the sect. You know,
- 39:47Speaker 1: I'll jump back in and you know, we'll go grab
- 39:49Speaker 1: breakfast or somewhat something somewhere and we'll get them off
- 39:52Speaker 1: the set and we were just laughing about it because
- 39:55Speaker 1: it was one of those things that you know, she
- 39:57Speaker 1: she even said, She's like, oh my god, I mean
- 40:00Speaker 1: I would love him to date one of my daughters.
- 40:02Speaker 1: That would be He's such a wonderful she was. She's like,
- 40:06Speaker 1: I would have loved that. You know, I loved having him.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I will say, you know, I was a little critical
- 40:14Speaker 1: of the of the show, the whole like I'm not
- 40:18Speaker 1: here to make friends thing that you know, Courtney went with,
- 40:23Speaker 1: and there were some very not nice things that came
- 40:26Speaker 1: out of her mouth in regard to other people. So
- 40:29Speaker 1: I was a little critical. And I think after that, um,
- 40:33Speaker 1: you know, her book came out and she kind of
- 40:37Speaker 1: raamed me a little bit, and I reached out to
- 40:39Speaker 1: her and just said, I'm sorry if I, you know,
- 40:43Speaker 1: hurt your feelings. I was just commenting on the fact
- 40:45Speaker 1: that I didn't, you know, I didn't think that what
- 40:48Speaker 1: was being said was very kind and yeah, so I
- 40:52Speaker 1: was a little critical of that show. And I feel
- 40:54Speaker 1: like that show Ben's season was the show that kind
- 40:59Speaker 1: of turned things for me, where nowadays I feel like
- 41:04Speaker 1: I can't a hundred percent. I try to be as
- 41:06Speaker 1: honest as I can, but because I don't want I
- 41:10Speaker 1: don't want to like inflict the same kind of hurt
- 41:13Speaker 1: feelings that I feel like other people on the show.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Like if I'm commenting about someone being rude or mean
- 41:18Speaker 1: or whatever, I don't want them to take it personally
- 41:21Speaker 1: in them to have hurt feelings. So I feel like
- 41:23Speaker 1: it's kind of this odd space where I want to
- 41:26Speaker 1: be honest, but at the same time, I don't want to,
- 41:29Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to be honest if it's
- 41:31Speaker 1: going to hurt someone's feelings. So no, I get it.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I think I've I get it
- 41:37Speaker 1: because I mean what you say, I'm sure carries a
- 41:39Speaker 1: lot more weight too, because you know, you were the
- 41:42Speaker 1: true og of the whole thing, you know, and so
- 41:45Speaker 1: from that perspective, I think that, you know, if you're
- 41:47Speaker 1: critical of someone who is on the show, it might
- 41:49Speaker 1: come off differently than if you know, if I am.
- 41:52Speaker 1: You know what I mean, I think, you know, from
- 41:53Speaker 1: that personative, because you're revered, you know, I think I was.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I was really well liked from the show, which was great,
- 41:59Speaker 1: but obviously I didn't end up, you know, with a
- 42:01Speaker 1: successful relationship in the desired format from the show. Yeah,
- 42:07Speaker 1: I think, you know, from that perspective, probably things I
- 42:10Speaker 1: say are a little more I could be a little
- 42:11Speaker 1: more flippant or a little more offhand, and it just
- 42:14Speaker 1: kind of goes away, whereas you might say something and
- 42:16Speaker 1: it sticks, you know what I mean. Yeah, I think
- 42:18Speaker 1: that was her point. That was her point, Like you know,
- 42:22Speaker 1: she was like, well whatever, you know whatever she said.
- 42:25Speaker 1: I just I feel like I'm extra cautious now. Yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Good for you for reaching out too, though, and and
- 42:31Speaker 1: you know, smoothing it over. I think that takes. It
- 42:34Speaker 1: takes a lot of intestinal fortitude and you've always had it.
- 42:37Speaker 1: So I love that. Good. Thank you, thank you, well, awesome,
- 42:41Speaker 1: thanks everybody for listening. And I want to say, um,
- 42:45Speaker 1: you know, I don't think we say this every time,
- 42:47Speaker 1: but you know, wherever you're listening to your podcast, we
- 42:49Speaker 1: would love your comments, your ratings, the five stars or
- 42:54Speaker 1: whatever it is these days, Yes, would be great. So
- 42:57Speaker 1: thank you, know I was going to say to actually
- 42:59Speaker 1: to that point, I actually got a message which I
- 43:01Speaker 1: thought was really sweet from one of our listeners, and
- 43:06Speaker 1: she I mean, I get a lot of them, but
- 43:09Speaker 1: for some reason, this one really resonated with me. And
- 43:13Speaker 1: I won't say her name on the air, but she
- 43:15Speaker 1: basically said to the fact, she's a huge fan of
- 43:18Speaker 1: the show. She's always you know, loving listening in so
- 43:21Speaker 1: many things to learn. Then she mentioned, I also have
- 43:24Speaker 1: cereal for dinner sometimes, and I don't need to make
- 43:26Speaker 1: dinner from my husband, which was something you said. Ed
- 43:28Speaker 1: her two daughters and in particular working with it with
- 43:32Speaker 1: Jason and Molly, with them working together, she had some
- 43:35Speaker 1: great advice. She was like, you know, wherever they go,
- 43:38Speaker 1: since they're in business together, wherever they go together, they're
- 43:40Speaker 1: not allowed to talk about their business. That was their
- 43:42Speaker 1: only rule that they could do it at home, but
- 43:45Speaker 1: when they're not at the office, they weren't allowed to
- 43:46Speaker 1: talk about it. So, you know, it's funny because Kenyon
- 43:49Speaker 1: and I do that about the boys. You know, our
- 43:51Speaker 1: mindset is, you know, if we need some time alone
- 43:54Speaker 1: to talk about the boys, we'll do it in the house.
- 43:55Speaker 1: But if it's our you know, we don't get a
- 43:58Speaker 1: date night every week, to be honest, we haven't been
- 44:00Speaker 1: able to prioritize that yet. Yeah, but when we do
- 44:04Speaker 1: have one, we're like, let's not talk about the boys
- 44:06Speaker 1: at dinner tonight. Let's talk about us. Let's talk about
- 44:08Speaker 1: fun things that have happened we haven't gotten to share
- 44:10Speaker 1: with each other. And I thought it was really nice.
- 44:12Speaker 1: She actually said that they would go into their furnace
- 44:14Speaker 1: room at their home and they would talk about work
- 44:17Speaker 1: in there, but once they stepped out of it, then
- 44:19Speaker 1: they you know, then they were they weren't allowed to
- 44:21Speaker 1: talk about it anywhere. Yeah, so you know, I'm gonna
- 44:24Speaker 1: modify our furnace room and you know, put some loungers
- 44:27Speaker 1: in there maybe, Yeah, you know, aase, can I let
- 44:31Speaker 1: you know that you have the movie room? I think
- 44:32Speaker 1: you could use that. That's a valid point, you know,
- 44:35Speaker 1: if I could get in there without watching cars or Mowanna,
- 44:39Speaker 1: you know, honest to God, I swear I could. I
- 44:42Speaker 1: could sit there and say I sing all those songs
- 44:44Speaker 1: more than like Moana, you know. So anyway, all right, Well,
- 44:51Speaker 1: great seeing you as always, Trista Sutter, Nate r. And
- 44:55Speaker 1: thank you to Ben Flannic and everybody for listening. Thank you.
