- 0:32Hi everybody and welcome back to another episode of the Elon Musk
- 0:35podcast. Your go-to destination for all
- 0:37things SpaceX and Tesla and Ilan.
- 0:41I'm your host will Walden. I'm here to take you on a
- 0:43thrilling Voyage today into the progress of SpaceX post.
- 0:49The dramatic launch of booster 7 and ship 24.
- 0:52Now, from intricate repairs at the orbital launch site to the
- 0:56Intriguing assembly of ships. 25 through 29 were diving a little
- 1:01bit deep in To the upcoming changes and the changes that are
- 1:05happening right now down at Starbase Boca, Chica Texas.
- 1:10Now SpaceX is changing things up down at Boca Chica, and the ever
- 1:16Dynamic space Frontier. Space X is making significant
- 1:19strides towards its next. Big launch setting the stage for
- 1:23what promises to be a thrilling follow-up to last month's
- 1:27remarkable. Booster 7 and ship 24, lift off
- 1:30from the ongoing repairs that The orbital launch site.
- 1:33The OLS to the meticulous preparation of several
- 1:37Starships. The production site the scene is
- 1:39buzzing with activity. Space X is current.
- 1:43Focus is on ships. 25 through 29, each in different stages of
- 1:48Readiness and ship 25 is undergoing cryo proofing.
- 1:52At the now transform Massey's gun range while ship 29 is
- 1:57rapidly, stacking up in the high Bay and each vessel offers a
- 2:01unique glimpse into the future. Sure SpaceX is Mission to
- 2:04revolutionize. The space industry with their
- 2:07spacex's super-heavy starship rocket.
- 2:11Now, the seat at the orbital launch site is equally amazing
- 2:15scaffoldings. Now in case the Towering 70ish
- 2:18feet tall orbital launch Mount providing a secure environment
- 2:22for SpaceX has dedicated Workforce to get things done.
- 2:26Now, workers scale this intricate structure, they make
- 2:29it necessary to have the scaffold.
- 2:32Doing and they're making adjustments to the plumbing,
- 2:34raceways, the electronics and More in there, simultaneously
- 2:39foundation work continues on the olm with damage rebar concrete
- 2:43and dirt, evacuated and excavated and replaced with
- 2:47fresh soil and more concrete and rebar.
- 2:50Now, this crowd work, lays the foundation, for the upcoming
- 2:53installation of Steel plates, and a water Deluge system,
- 2:58creating robust and a secure launch pad for the next.
- 3:02At the Starship super heavy launch.
- 3:04I'll SpaceX is attention to detail extends to even the
- 3:08smallest components though, the booster quick disconnect, the QD
- 3:12fitting on the olm, which is a critical element is currently
- 3:17under maintenance with a protective cover placed over its
- 3:20pipes. And as the site, undergoes
- 3:22repair and renovation to familiar platforms.
- 3:25Affectionately dubbed, the dance floor in the taco stand, have
- 3:28been relocated to the launch site.
- 3:30These platforms integral. To the launch preparation
- 3:33process, keep the construction site, decluttered.
- 3:36And organized, now SpaceX is dedication to constant.
- 3:39Improvement is very visible right now and there's ongoing
- 3:43repair work at the tank farm as well.
- 3:46The white tank shells manufactured using techniques
- 3:49similar to the Starship construction have been patched
- 3:52up and the overall Integrity of the structure has been increased
- 3:56SpaceX plans, to replace these vertical tanks with horizontally
- 4:00aligned. Kind of hot dog shaped tanks.
- 4:04Is there they've been lovingly known and they're going to be
- 4:08more protected than the vertical structures that are there right
- 4:11now? Now the olm of the tank farm
- 4:15repairs will continue for a while, probably a month or two
- 4:19and future SpaceX vessels are making Headway as well.
- 4:23Ship 28 and 29 are relatively Advanced stage of construction.
- 4:27Right now with both featuring the necessary tiles and fins for
- 4:30re-entry testing. Ship 28 was recently relocated
- 4:34to so shipped. 29 can be fitted in there and they're rapidly
- 4:42indicating that they're assembling more ships at this
- 4:46production site. Now.
- 4:48Moreover ship 29 is known as code.
- 4:50Has been successfully welded to a payload section.
- 4:53Suggesting it potentially could be for starlink version to set
- 4:59alight test deployments. However we're not sure when
- 5:02That's going to happen now, the first mega Bay is seen
- 5:06significant activity recently with the Assembly of booster 11.
- 5:11Now SpaceX is very Innovative and they're featuring
- 5:13improvements over the previous booster 7.
- 5:16While booster night is scheduled for the next flight booster 11,
- 5:20maybe the one after booster, nine.
- 5:23Now meanwhile at the former Massey's gun range.
- 5:26A few miles down the road ship. 25 has successfully completed.
- 5:32The cryogenic proofing test. Now the sister ship to ship 24,
- 5:38which was in the latest launch ship. 25 offers a little bit
- 5:43better. Hope than ship 24 for the future
- 5:46missions. It's built with similar
- 5:48standards and similar processes as ship 24, but it has still has
- 5:54tiles and it has fins and it looks like it may be an upgraded
- 5:59version of ship 24. Now, this may come as a
- 6:04surprise, but there may be ships, 28 and 29 in the works as
- 6:08well, and they may be tested soon.
- 6:10However, considering its construction last year, SpaceX
- 6:13might opt, for a newer Starship that incorporates design
- 6:17improvements and lessons learned from the previous launch.
- 6:20So ship 25 may not actually launch, it could be shipped 28
- 6:26or 29. Now, among the other contenders
- 6:29though, ships, 26. And Seven.
- 6:32I hope I'm not confusing anybody here with all these different
- 6:34ships because it does get a little confusing because we
- 6:37don't know exactly what's the difference between ship 24?
- 6:41Ship 25, 26 27, 28 29, but we know that SpaceX rapidly
- 6:47iterates these and ships, 26 and 27 currently have no tiles or
- 6:54fins on them and they've been spotted near the Rocket Garden
- 6:58storage area. They're in the early stages of
- 7:01Preparation and could possibly be selected for future flights.
- 7:05We're not sure quite yet though and the display of potential
- 7:08candidates reveal spacex's long-term strategy, which is
- 7:13rapid iteration rapid, manufacturing of these ships and
- 7:17it's going to be a continual progress and exploration phase
- 7:22until they figure out the final design.
- 7:25Now, there's a new high Bay to SpaceX is Vision extends beyond
- 7:29the immediate launch though there.
- 7:31Working towards the future. The Starbase site is welcome to
- 7:34a new high Bay which is potentially increasing the
- 7:38production capabilities right now for future ships and
- 7:41boosters. There's kind of a skeletal
- 7:44structure right now that will form part of the new Bay's
- 7:47architecture and they've been seen all over the site.
- 7:50And once the foundation is prepared though, these
- 7:53components will be transferred and assembled and steps will be
- 7:56moved towards enhancing spacex's infrastructure capabilities.
- 8:01Bleah. Be able to build more ships and
- 8:03more boosters in a faster fashion and iterate way quicker,
- 8:09but a new high Bay, not only signifies progress, but also
- 8:13presents an opportunity to optimize the process.
- 8:17The skeletal structure elements are expected to be covered with
- 8:20their skins soon. While a crane will move them to
- 8:23the foundation. Now, these elements might have
- 8:26been repurposed from spacex's site in Florida that though,
- 8:30they may have been Tipped over here.
- 8:32And this is a new way to build out a site because if they're
- 8:37already built in Florida, they just have to take a cargo ship
- 8:40across the bay and then they are there in Texas and they're at
- 8:45the Starbase. We're not exactly sure when they
- 8:47came in or where they came from, but we know they weren't
- 8:49transported by road, so This is a significant one here.
- 8:57The sea level thrust simulator has been removed from the
- 9:00suborbital pad a that suggests that future ambient and cryo
- 9:06proof testing for ships. Will now take place exclusively
- 9:10a few miles down the road at the old Massey's site.
- 9:14Now relocation of ship testing to mass T's is a strategic
- 9:17decision because this will enable unimpeded construction
- 9:23right now. They could repair everything at
- 9:25the Starbase launch facility. They can do static firing and
- 9:29they could also do launches and not have to worry about that
- 9:32infrastructure while they're still permitting.
- 9:35The proof testing of new ships and test articles at Massey's.
- 9:39They can do a number of those within a week at Massey is
- 9:42without having to move things around.
- 9:44They can just store them there in.
- 9:46This reorganization is indicative of SpaceX, is ability
- 9:49to adapt and streamline operation to bolster their
- 9:52efficiency. No other activities, a mess.
- 9:55He's include rigorous testing of ship 26.1 in destructive,
- 10:01testing a nose cone, 31 ship, 26.1, similar to boost your 7.1
- 10:07serves. As a dedicated test article to
- 10:09examine certain aspects of the Starship system, contributing to
- 10:13SpaceX is Relentless pursuit of refinement, and Perfection.
- 10:18Now, as SpaceX marches forward, the future of the A and B
- 10:22suborbital pads, which supported Previous Starship, atmospheric,
- 10:26test flights, hangs in the balance, with the shift of
- 10:29testing activities to Massey's. These roles could potentially be
- 10:32redefined in the coming months. Now, while the timeline for the
- 10:36next Starship launch remains tentative, we don't really know
- 10:39when this is going to happen. There's several key developments
- 10:42that are worth watching out for from the installation of Steel
- 10:45plates in the Deluge system to the tank from repairs and the
- 10:48recertification of the flight termination system SpaceX is
- 10:53leaving, no stone. Unturned for the next successful
- 10:57launch. Now the FAA may have to do
- 11:01another approval of Starship system return to flight, which
- 11:05is pending right now, the upcoming period is critical for
- 11:08SpaceX each step taken. Now, brings the company one step
- 11:11closer to realizing its vision for the future of space.
- 11:15Exploration, and a SpaceX pushes, the boundaries of the
- 11:18possibility of this flight, the world really does watch and
- 11:22anticipation. It's the Biggest rocket that's
- 11:25ever been flown and will ever be flown in the most powerful to
- 11:29every repair, every test and every launch brings them closer
- 11:33to the Future. Where space travel is not just a
- 11:36dream for everybody, but they can send gigantic satellites
- 11:40into orbit. They can take people back to the
- 11:42Moon. They can take people to Mars and
- 11:44the journey is far from over and SpaceX is on the horizon, and
- 11:48they're never going to look back there moving forward.
- 11:51So, I want to say thank you for you.
- 11:55Yeah, to you for listening today?
