Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You've got to love it when Wednesday starts and it's
- 0:03Speaker 1: very cool and very clear.
- 0:10Speaker 2: You only need the jacket or the hoodie, though, for
- 0:12Speaker 2: the morning. Don't get full because we're going to get
- 0:15Speaker 2: up to the mid 80s today. And that means you'll
- 0:18Speaker 2: probably be done with said hoodie or jacket by lunchtime.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning. It is 97.1 Wash FM.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Thank you for waking up with us. Why are you
- 0:26Speaker 2: feeling good this morning?
- 0:27Speaker 3: The number is 866-927-4361.
- 0:30Speaker 2: A scene partner of mine, Chilly Amar, why are you
- 0:33Speaker 2: feeling good on this Wednesday morning?
- 0:35Speaker 4: It means because it's going to be another beautiful day.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Another great long walk is in my future. And I
- 0:42Speaker 4: am very happy to be able to do that to
- 0:44Speaker 4: clear my head.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm so jealous of you with that ability to do
- 0:49Speaker 2: long walks to clear your head.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I know.
- 0:51Speaker 2: The longest walk I took was outside of the stadium
- 0:54Speaker 2: from home plate to garage C around the stadium. Was
- 0:59Speaker 2: not fun, and I didn't get to clear my head.
- 1:01Speaker 3: But you know what? Hey, you'll have these things. That's awesome.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm just thrilled today because it feels like fall. You know?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Like on the drive in, you crack the windows a
- 1:10Speaker 2: bit and let some of that cool air in early
- 1:13Speaker 2: in the morning. It's almost like a different vibe. I mean,
- 1:18Speaker 2: the colors of the trees haven't changed yet, but it
- 1:20Speaker 2: just feels.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Well, there's a crispiness.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels good. Like the season's changing. And having
- 1:26Speaker 2: four distinct seasons in the DMV... is a cool thing
- 1:30Speaker 2: for me, and you really start to notice it, I think,
- 1:32Speaker 2: on mornings like this when it's cool and it's crisp.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I just wish we had it longer like this. Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 4: It doesn't last long enough, this perfect little combination of
- 1:43Speaker 4: a little bit cool in the morning and nice and
- 1:45Speaker 4: warm in the afternoon.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's like fire pit weather, only in the morning. Couldn't
- 1:50Speaker 2: light one up that early. People would look at you weird,
- 1:52Speaker 2: probably call the authorities. Anyway, why are you feeling good
- 1:55Speaker 2: this morning?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Hit us up.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Feel free to share with the class because your joy
- 1:59Speaker 2: is contagious and we all need more of it in
- 2:01Speaker 2: this town, especially when you.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Hear the news.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Speaking of which, top stories at the top of the
- 2:07Speaker 2: hour on the way. What you're working on this morning?
- 2:09Speaker 5: U.S.
- 2:09Speaker 4: News ranked the best hospitals in the country for children.
- 2:14Speaker 4: And I'll tell you where the local hospitals landed in
- 2:17Speaker 4: just a few minutes.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Three people were killed after a news helicopter crashed in L.A.
- 2:27Speaker 4: last night going down while circling a deadly Chatsworth bus crash.
- 2:32Speaker 4: NBC4 and Telemundo 52 operated that chopper. The House passed
- 2:37Speaker 4: a war powers resolution yesterday limiting the president's military actions
- 2:42Speaker 4: in Iran. Democrats argued Congress never authorized the war. and
- 2:46Speaker 4: blasted the administration for leaving troops in harm's way without
- 2:50Speaker 4: a clear strategy. The Kennedy Center board voted to close
- 2:55Speaker 4: the Performing Arts Center, citing severe financial problems and structural
- 2:59Speaker 4: safety concerns. Now, this decision came after a federal judge
- 3:02Speaker 4: blocked the board from restoring the president's name to the
- 3:05Speaker 4: building without congressional approval. Parking's still a headache at Reagan
- 3:10Speaker 4: National Airport. A new garage that was supposed to fully
- 3:13Speaker 4: open back in May is still under construction, leaving travelers
- 3:17Speaker 4: with fewer spaces. The airport now hopes to have all
- 3:20Speaker 4: 2,169 spaces open by the holiday season. Capital One Arena
- 3:26Speaker 4: reopening this week after months of renovation. The new main
- 3:29Speaker 4: entrance opens on 7th and F Streets with faster security
- 3:33Speaker 4: and ticket scanning, but fans should expect construction, changing entrances,
- 3:37Speaker 4: and also some temporary closures as the renovation continues through
- 3:42Speaker 4: next fall. And Children's National Hospital here in D.C. is
- 3:47Speaker 4: once again among the nation's top children's hospitals.
- 3:51Speaker 6: U.S.
- 3:52Speaker 4: News ranks it on its national honor roll and tied
- 3:55Speaker 4: for number one in the Mid-Atlantic. Inova Children's Hospital in
- 3:59Speaker 4: Falls Church came in third in Virginia, while Johns Hopkins
- 4:04Speaker 4: Children's Center ranked number one in Maryland. Forecast today, lots
- 4:08Speaker 4: of sunshine. Highs around 85. Right now, 61 in Stafford.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And that is the news with Toby and Chili in
- 4:15Speaker 2: the morning. Top stories that you get at the top
- 4:18Speaker 2: of the hour every weekday morning when you get up
- 4:22Speaker 2: every hour here at 97.1 Wash FM. And on the way,
- 4:26Speaker 2: Your morning mindset, because you might just need a little
- 4:29Speaker 2: extra something to get you through the day. Hopefully, these
- 4:33Speaker 2: words will help you. It is time now for your
- 4:36Speaker 2: morning mindset with Toby and Chili in the morning at.
- 4:39Speaker 3: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 4:40Speaker 4: If you don't know already, this is where we find
- 4:43Speaker 4: a quote and share it with you to think about
- 4:45Speaker 4: as you take on the rest of your day and
- 4:48Speaker 4: your week.
- 4:48Speaker 2: She might as well be the queen, Dolly Parton. You've
- 4:52Speaker 2: heard of her, right? I'm sure you have. She says
- 4:55Speaker 2: to us this morning, the way I see it, if
- 4:57Speaker 2: you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Dolly Parton, the way I see it, she says, if
- 5:05Speaker 2: you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with
- 5:07Speaker 2: the rain.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Nobody enjoys the rain part. Nobody.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But here's the thing about the rain and difficult seasons, right?
- 5:16Speaker 2: They don't get to stick around forever. They don't, they're
- 5:19Speaker 2: going to pass. Sometimes you've just got to keep moving
- 5:22Speaker 2: because you know that the weather will eventually change keep
- 5:28Speaker 2: that in mind today all right dolly part in the
- 5:31Speaker 2: way i see it if you want the rainbow gotta
- 5:33Speaker 2: put up with the rain so bring it on rain
- 5:37Speaker 2: not scared of you you.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Can blow right through that's.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Your morning mindset for today hopefully it helps if you
- 5:42Speaker 2: need it again you know where to find us the
- 5:44Speaker 2: toby and chili page at washfm.com be happy to send
- 5:46Speaker 2: it your way so that it can help somebody you
- 5:49Speaker 2: know that might need to see the rainbow and feels
- 5:53Speaker 2: like they're stuck in some sort of a storm Stay
- 5:56Speaker 2: with us because in just a bit.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Even though Americans love their pets, there are some public
- 6:01Speaker 4: places they feel pets just do not belong.
- 6:08Speaker 2: There's a certain place in your heart that can only
- 6:10Speaker 2: be filled by a four-legged forever friend. A pet might
- 6:15Speaker 2: be a cat for some, but for others, it's a dog. Well,
- 6:19Speaker 2: Americans do love their pets, but not everywhere, it seems.
- 6:23Speaker 2: There's a new survey out that says where we, the people,
- 6:28Speaker 2: don't want to see these pooches hanging.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Well, we should say these are not service animals we're
- 6:32Speaker 4: talking about.
- 6:33Speaker 7: No.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Okay, these are just regular pets.
- 6:35Speaker 8: Right.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Number one are restaurants, followed by grocery stores and doctor's
- 6:39Speaker 4: offices or hospitals. Now, the restaurant and grocery stores, I
- 6:42Speaker 4: kind of do agree with Toby because there's food involved.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I don't know that I want dogs or cats around
- 6:48Speaker 4: something I'm going to be eating.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'm not going to try to argue that, although I
- 6:51Speaker 2: do know people who bring their dogs at times to
- 6:54Speaker 2: restaurants and little dog carriers.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Now, the outside area on the patio.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:59Speaker 4: That's one thing.
- 7:00Speaker 2: But inside a fine dining restaurant, can you imagine if
- 7:03Speaker 2: you were to try to roll into one of the
- 7:05Speaker 2: best restaurants in D.C.
- 7:07Speaker 3: With your dog?
- 7:07Speaker 4: I don't think they allow it. I don't know that
- 7:10Speaker 4: that would fly.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I mean, no.
- 7:12Speaker 4: But some people do like to bring him into these
- 7:14Speaker 4: casual establishments, too.
- 7:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Sneak him in, like you said.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but still, I mean, even then, while I might
- 7:20Speaker 2: be willing to give a hall pass, I don't know.
- 7:22Speaker 4: The doctor's office and hospital, though, I kind of feel
- 7:24Speaker 4: like it really does boost morale because if people are
- 7:28Speaker 4: going to the doctor, or they're feeling some sort of way.
- 7:30Speaker 4: If they're in a hospital, they're probably there. When you
- 7:32Speaker 4: see a dog, doesn't it instantly bring your heart joy?
- 7:35Speaker 4: Unless you're allergic. But you know what I'm saying? Like,
- 7:38Speaker 4: I think those places, it's okay.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Seeing a dog when I was inpatient at Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital,
- 7:46Speaker 2: Even though it was a therapy dog. But it just
- 7:48Speaker 2: brought me so much joy to go through physical therapy
- 7:53Speaker 2: with that dog and to play catch with that dog.
- 7:55Speaker 2: It made me forget that I was in that hospital
- 7:57Speaker 2: for a hot minute. And that's all I wanted.
- 7:59Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Is there any place that you don't like seeing animals?
- 8:03Speaker 4: Like I said, I don't want them near food, per se.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You know, maybe if I were to see one roaming
- 8:10Speaker 2: in a grocery store, like not riding in the cart,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but like roaming on leash or off leash. I mean,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I even do double takes when I'm at PetSmart because
- 8:18Speaker 2: I'm just not used to seeing it. So maybe a
- 8:21Speaker 2: grocery store because... That's supposed to be food for human consumption.
- 8:24Speaker 2: And sometimes dogs go dog chili.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Exactly. It's not their fault.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:28Speaker 4: They're just hungry.
- 8:29Speaker 3: You can't tempt them with that stuff.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Or they got to go.
- 8:32Speaker 6: That too.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Clean up an aisle for them. That is true too.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Stay right there because we got some news for you
- 8:37Speaker 2: coming up. Top stories at the top of the hour.
- 8:39Speaker 2: What's going on this morning?
- 8:40Speaker 4: First, the Oscars and now the primetime Emmys. leaving network
- 8:47Speaker 4: television for streaming. We'll tell you which service is thinking
- 8:51Speaker 4: about picking up the award show coming up in just
- 8:53Speaker 4: a few minutes.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Between Wanda Sykes and Dave Chappelle, this is the place
- 8:57Speaker 2: for comedians to come to film specials.
- 8:59Speaker 3: That air around the world.
- 9:02Speaker 2: 97.1 Wash FM, Toby and Chili in the morning, and
- 9:06Speaker 2: another comedian's coming to do just that.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Morgan Jay, live taping of his next stand-up special, going
- 9:11Speaker 4: to be at DC's Warner Theatre on February 12th. It's
- 9:14Speaker 4: a Friday. Tickets go on sale this Friday, but pre-sale
- 9:18Speaker 4: starts tomorrow.
- 9:19Speaker 1: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington. An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on
- 9:25Speaker 1: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 9:27Speaker 4: The Kennedy Center board voted to close the facility yesterday.
- 9:32Speaker 4: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 9:35Speaker 4: the way with Toby and Chili in the morning on
- 9:39Speaker 4: 97.1 Wash FM.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Three people have died and a fourth is hospitalized after
- 9:47Speaker 4: a news helicopter crashed in L.A. last night. The NBC4
- 9:52Speaker 4: and Telemundo 52 chopper went down while they were circling
- 9:56Speaker 4: a deadly bus accident. The Kennedy Center board voted to close.
- 10:00Speaker 4: the facility yesterday, citing financial problems. Now, the vote came
- 10:03Speaker 4: just hours after a federal judge blocked the board from
- 10:06Speaker 4: adding the president's name to the building without congressional approval.
- 10:10Speaker 4: The Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise rates for
- 10:14Speaker 4: the first time in over three years today. Analysts project
- 10:18Speaker 4: the central bank will hike rates by a quarter percentage point.
- 10:22Speaker 4: A former Northern Virginia youth minister is facing federal charges
- 10:26Speaker 4: accused of sexually grooming and abusing multiple boys over nearly
- 10:30Speaker 4: two decades. 66-year-old Jeffrey Taylor served at the Falls Church
- 10:36Speaker 4: and two Atlanta churches. Waterside Drive in northwest D.C. is
- 10:41Speaker 4: going to be closing for nearly two months of road work. Now,
- 10:43Speaker 4: the southern section is going to be shutting down on Monday,
- 10:46Speaker 4: and it's going to be shut down through November 13th
- 10:49Speaker 4: with detours affecting Rock Creek Parkway. A new study ranks
- 10:54Speaker 4: the most and least intellectual U.S. cities. Now, researchers looked
- 10:58Speaker 4: at things like museums, libraries, bookstores, and universities. Boston ranked
- 11:03Speaker 4: number one. But D.C., Arlington, Alexandria, the area there came
- 11:08Speaker 4: in 10th place. Now, on the flip side, the least
- 11:11Speaker 4: intellectual city is Riverside, California. And finally, Prime Video, apparently
- 11:17Speaker 4: in talks to stream the Emmys, which would end their
- 11:20Speaker 4: decades-long run on broadcast television. It would be the second
- 11:24Speaker 4: major award show to leave network TV after the Oscars
- 11:28Speaker 4: plan to move to YouTube. Forecast today, beautiful. Lots of sun.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Highs around 85. Right now, 62 in Oxon Hill.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And that's the news.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You get top stories at the top of the hour
- 11:39Speaker 2: here at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 11:42Speaker 2: There's been so much talk about AI in the news
- 11:46Speaker 2: over the last couple of days. And who are we
- 11:49Speaker 2: to not talk about AI? In this case, a drug
- 11:52Speaker 2: designed by AI which can slow down the aging process.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Yep, you heard me right.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So if you could get it, would you want it
- 12:02Speaker 2: so that you could live forever?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Let's talk.
- 12:05Speaker 6: 866-927-4361.
- 12:09Speaker 2: You ever have that feeling that you've aged like five
- 12:12Speaker 2: years in the last two to three days? It's 97.1
- 12:18Speaker 2: Wash FM. Well, this will be some good news for you, maybe.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Scientists are working on something they say that could slow
- 12:25Speaker 2: down aging. An AI-designed pill, Chili. How early are we
- 12:31Speaker 2: talking and what do we need to know?
- 12:33Speaker 4: Well, all they're saying is it can slow down your
- 12:35Speaker 4: aging process. It doesn't mean you can live forever, but
- 12:39Speaker 4: you know they're just going to keep perfecting this, what
- 12:42Speaker 4: I'll call technology, so that your biological age just keeps
- 12:47Speaker 4: moving backward and you can live longer and longer. But
- 12:51Speaker 4: I am curious.
- 12:52Speaker 6: Yes.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Is living to, I don't know, I'll just throw out
- 12:55Speaker 4: a number, 150 something that you would be interested in?
- 12:58Speaker 2: That's an interesting question. 866-927-4361 is the number. If you
- 13:03Speaker 2: have some thoughts, maybe I would consider it. I think
- 13:08Speaker 2: that it would be fun to be around people. And
- 13:11Speaker 2: to age like in reverse or to have aging stop
- 13:14Speaker 2: just because, you know what? I feel the pain of age. So, yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 2: I'd be into it.
- 13:20Speaker 4: I would say I would only be interested if two
- 13:22Speaker 4: things were true. I physically felt great. The quality of
- 13:26Speaker 4: my life being good. And those that I love also
- 13:30Speaker 4: had access to the drug because I don't want to
- 13:32Speaker 4: be living forever if the people around me are gone.
- 13:36Speaker 4: And I don't want to be living forever if I
- 13:38Speaker 4: feel miserable. My dad always says, oh, don't get old
- 13:42Speaker 4: because he's saying it's just painful to get older because
- 13:45Speaker 4: everything starts to break down.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Well, Chili's dad, we can't stop the aging yet. But
- 13:50Speaker 2: if AI comes with this drug and they do some
- 13:54Speaker 2: AI led human trials on this drug and it's not unhealthy,
- 13:59Speaker 2: perhaps maybe you too, sir, could take this drug and
- 14:02Speaker 2: perhaps live forever.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Would you want to? You've got the number. Give us
- 14:06Speaker 3: a call. Tell us what's on your mind.
- 14:07Speaker 2: TalkBack's wide open for you, too, if you're signed in
- 14:09Speaker 2: listening on your iHeart app. And we will get into
- 14:12Speaker 2: this together as Toby and Chili in the morning rolls on.
- 14:16Speaker 2: About to talk about AI in the news over the
- 14:19Speaker 2: last few days. And we're talking about AI this morning
- 14:23Speaker 2: at 97.1 Wash FM because scientists are saying... There's an
- 14:27Speaker 2: AI-designed drug that could slow the aging process, maybe even
- 14:32Speaker 2: turn it back. Would you want to live forever if
- 14:37Speaker 2: this AI drug could facilitate it? We're talking this morning
- 14:41Speaker 2: at 866-927-4361.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Donnie, thanks so much for listening to us on your
- 14:46Speaker 4: way to work at NIH in Bethesda. What do you think?
- 14:50Speaker 3: I don't think I'd want to live forever.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Why not?
- 14:53Speaker 8: I would rather have a meaningful life, make some great memories,
- 14:56Speaker 8: and just leave knowing I made the most of my time.
- 14:59Speaker 4: There is something to be said about that quote, live
- 15:01Speaker 4: like you're dying. So I can see how that would
- 15:04Speaker 4: be beneficial.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Very noble of you there, Donnie. Thank you for jumping
- 15:08Speaker 2: in this morning. Over to Old Town Alexandria. Good morning, Kesley.
- 15:12Speaker 3: So what do you think? Would you consider taking this
- 15:14Speaker 3: drug to live forever?
- 15:16Speaker 8: I totally would, but only if I could stay healthy
- 15:18Speaker 8: and keep the people I love around me. Living forever
- 15:21Speaker 8: sounds amazing until you realize you'd have to watch everyone
- 15:24Speaker 8: you love grow old and disappear.
- 15:26Speaker 4: See, that's exactly what I said earlier.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I know, I didn't realize you had coffee this early
- 15:31Speaker 2: morning with a chili there, Kessley in Old Town. Thank
- 15:35Speaker 2: you for jumping into the conversation. Want to read more
- 15:38Speaker 2: about this? Direct your attention to the Toby and Chili
- 15:41Speaker 2: page at WashFM.com. Top stories at the top of the hour.
- 15:44Speaker 2: We need some news, Chili. What's going on?
- 15:47Speaker 4: A new AAA report reveals the average annual cost to
- 15:51Speaker 4: own and operate a new vehicle in the U.S. And
- 15:55Speaker 4: I'll share the data with you coming up in just
- 15:56Speaker 4: a few.
- 15:58Speaker 2: On the way after top stories at the top of
- 16:00Speaker 2: the hour, around 7.10 here at 97.1 Wash FM, we
- 16:04Speaker 2: have something very cool for you when it comes to you.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Seeing a music and pop culture icon performing in D.C.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Stevie Wonder, Capital One Arena, November 23rd. The show is
- 16:18Speaker 4: sold out, but you can be there if you get
- 16:20Speaker 4: our nearly impossible question correct.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Get ready to play and win in just minutes. Mariah,
- 16:26Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning. It's 97.1 Wash FM.
- 16:31Speaker 5: 97.1 WASH FM, Washington. An iHeartRadio station. Coming up on
- 16:36Speaker 5: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Three people were killed after a news helicopter crash in L.A.
- 16:42Speaker 4: last night. We've got the latest on that story and
- 16:45Speaker 4: others on the way. With Toby and Chili in the
- 16:48Speaker 4: morning on 97.1 Wash FM.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Top stories, top of the hour.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Three people were killed after a news helicopter crashed in L.A.
- 16:59Speaker 4: last night going down while they were circling a deadly
- 17:02Speaker 4: bus crash. NBC4 and Telemundo 52 operated that chopper. The

- 18:42Speaker 5: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Question, please.
- 18:45Speaker 4: This simple habit can help you remember someone's name when
- 18:49Speaker 4: you first meet them. What is it?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I want to say that that is an absolutely true
- 18:53Speaker 3: answer to this question. It's very, very true. I am
- 18:57Speaker 3: proof positive it's true. That's all I have to say
- 19:00Speaker 3: about that.
- 19:00Speaker 2: If you want Stevie Wonder tickets, 866-927-4361, Capital One Arena
- 19:05Speaker 2: in November on the 23rd.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Thanks to Live Nation. The question again.
- 19:08Speaker 4: This simple habit can help you remember someone's name when
- 19:13Speaker 4: you first meet them. What is it?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Call now. Get it right. Go see Stevie Wonder. The
- 19:17Speaker 3: game is on.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Toby and Chili's Nearly Impossible Question.
- 19:21Speaker 3: The question again.
- 19:23Speaker 4: This simple habit can help you remember someone's name when
- 19:27Speaker 4: you first meet them. What is it?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Stevie Wonder tickets on the line. If you can answer
- 19:32Speaker 2: that question right, they're yours. You'll get into Capital One

- 19:46Speaker 3: Hello. Good morning. We're all great. Thank you for joining.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Us in this quest that you are on to grab
- 19:53Speaker 2: these tickets to see the icon. He's going to be big.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Stevie Wonder. Sold out show. You've got the question. Guess
- 20:01Speaker 2: right and you win. What's your guess?
- 20:04Speaker 3: Just repeating it after they say it.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Is that a trick that you use?
- 20:08Speaker 3: I use a lot of memory tricks. One of the presidents,
- 20:10Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember which one. It might have been
- 20:11Speaker 3: Bill Clinton. In his mind, he writes down.
- 20:17Speaker 6: I've never tried that one, but that's another hack that.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Is out there.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But which one are you sticking with? Which guess are
- 20:23Speaker 4: you sticking with?
- 20:24Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sorry. I got plenty to answer. Repeating their name.
- 20:28Speaker 4: The simple habit that can help you remember someone's name
- 20:31Speaker 4: when you first meet them is repeat their name.
- 20:35Speaker 2: That's right. But I write the names on the forehead
- 20:39Speaker 2: in my mind. That way I can look at them
- 20:42Speaker 2: and I can say, hey, well, look at you there,
- 20:45Speaker 2: Billy Bob. I think that's kind of hilarious. But, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 2: sometimes it makes people look at me. Anyway, I just
- 20:52Speaker 2: wanted to say you're going to go to see Stevie Wonder. Congratulations,
- 20:55Speaker 2: Capital One Arena. These tickets belong to you.
- 20:58Speaker 4: That sounds good.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Thank you so much. That's very exciting.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I still believe in a place called hope.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And you're going to go to the show. Enjoy. Thanks
- 21:05Speaker 3: to Live Nation. I love that you have that accent
- 21:07Speaker 3: ready to go.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I just flew out of nowhere. Sometimes it does. Sometimes
- 21:12Speaker 2: it doesn't. I mean, this thing, it depends on what
- 21:16Speaker 2: your definition of is, is. I mean, anyway, congratulations. Enjoy
- 21:22Speaker 2: this show. We've got more tomorrow, right around seven, 10
- 21:26Speaker 2: after we get to Toby and Tilly's top stories. It's
- 21:30Speaker 2: your nearly impossible question prize all this week, and you
- 21:34Speaker 2: have now won.
- 21:35Speaker 3: That's exciting. Thank you so much. Thank you.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Enjoy this show from 97.1 Watch FM. Okay, thank you.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And stay with us because.
- 21:43Speaker 4: We have a listener who is calling and asking for
- 21:46Speaker 4: some advice from us. She wants to know if she's
- 21:48Speaker 4: a jerk for making a decision about an upcoming girls
- 21:52Speaker 4: trip to Vegas.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Ooh, this is going to be fun. Don't go anywhere.
- 21:57Speaker 2: If you've got a problem, a dilemma, and no one
- 21:59Speaker 2: else can help, and if you can find us, maybe
- 22:01Speaker 2: you can call Toby and Shelly in the morning. It's
- 22:04Speaker 2: 97.1 Washa FM. We're not like the A-Team, but we
- 22:07Speaker 2: are at 866-927-4361, ready to dispense advice that you might need.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And if we need to, well, bring in the class
- 22:17Speaker 2: because they're listening.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Now we've got a listener who has an upcoming girls
- 22:21Speaker 4: trip and there's already some potential drama. You haven't even
- 22:25Speaker 4: gone on the trip.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Let me punch her up. Good morning, Maddie in Germantown.
- 22:29Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 22:30Speaker 6: So basically we've been planning this.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Girls trip for like a while now to Vegas.
- 22:35Speaker 6: And we all like pulled our money and we like,
- 22:37Speaker 6: you know, did the spreadsheet, hotel, food, booze. But the
- 22:41Speaker 6: thing is, is that now I'm actually pregnant.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Yay.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Congratulations.
- 22:48Speaker 6: We just found out a little while ago and we're
- 22:49Speaker 6: super excited, but the trip's really expensive and a large
- 22:53Speaker 6: part of it is alcohol, which I'm obviously not going
- 22:56Speaker 6: to drink. So I'm wondering, am I a jerk if
- 22:59Speaker 6: I like ask for a refund?
- 23:01Speaker 3: Chili, go ahead. What are your thoughts this morning?
- 23:03Speaker 4: So when you guys initially planned for this trip, you
- 23:06Speaker 4: budgeted in alcohol and now you're saying you're not going
- 23:10Speaker 4: to be drinking any of it. Exactly.
- 23:12Speaker 3: You know, you could just bail.
- 23:13Speaker 6: I don't want to go on the trip. I'm just
- 23:15Speaker 6: I know I'm not going to be drinking or like
- 23:17Speaker 6: spending as much now that we're going to have a family.
- 23:19Speaker 8: And.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Obviously, I can't drink.
- 23:22Speaker 3: What do you say, Chili?
- 23:23Speaker 4: I think because alcohol has not been purchased yet, that's
- 23:26Speaker 4: something that you guys budgeted for. I think they would
- 23:29Speaker 4: be understanding if you said just FYI, when it comes
- 23:32Speaker 4: to the drinks, I'm not splitting it evenly.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you have an excuse. It's called a baby on
- 23:36Speaker 2: board and they're not cheap. So just use the I
- 23:40Speaker 2: need to save my money excuse. Combined with the you're
- 23:44Speaker 2: not supposed to drink alcoholic libations when you have a
- 23:49Speaker 2: baby in your belly excuse. And I think you win
- 23:52Speaker 2: and your friends should understand.
- 23:54Speaker 4: That being said, there may be another perspective out there
- 23:57Speaker 4: that Toby and I aren't thinking about. So if you
- 23:59Speaker 4: have some thoughts and you want to share them with
- 24:02Speaker 4: Maddie right now about her, we'll call it predicament.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Give us a call at 866-927-4361. Whatever you think about
- 24:11Speaker 2: this is totally valid for Maddie. Maddie, we'll circle back
- 24:15Speaker 2: with you in just a second. Can you hang on
- 24:18Speaker 2: while we get some opinions for you?
- 24:20Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour. That's the news.
- 24:23Speaker 2: It's on the way right around 810. Chili, what's going on?
- 24:27Speaker 4: A new survey says most Americans hit mental overload before
- 24:30Speaker 4: the week's even over. Coming up. The advice that experienced
- 24:34Speaker 4: caregivers swear by to keep them from burning out.

- 25:24Speaker 5: Top Stories, top of the hour.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Three people are dead and a fourth is hospitalized after
- 25:29Speaker 4: a news helicopter crashed in L.A. last night. The NBC4
- 25:33Speaker 4: and Telemundo 52 chopper went down while they were circling
- 25:37Speaker 4: a deadly bus accident. The Kennedy Center board voted to
- 25:41Speaker 4: close the facility yesterday, citing financial problems. The vote came
- 25:45Speaker 4: just hours after a federal judge blocked the board from
- 25:48Speaker 4: adding the president's name to the building without congressional approval.
- 25:53Speaker 4: The Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise rates for

- 26:22Speaker 4: new flock license plate reader installations over privacy and data
- 26:26Speaker 4: security concerns. Supervisors voted yesterday to halt expansion until an
- 26:32Speaker 4: October 20th review, seeking more details from flock safety on
- 26:36Speaker 4: data access and safeguards. And according to a recent survey,
- 26:41Speaker 4: more than half of Americans say they feel mentally maxed
- 26:45Speaker 4: out every week and seven in 10 feel they don't
- 26:49Speaker 4: get enough done. Caregivers feel that pressure especially hard. Now,
- 26:54Speaker 4: experts say that asking for help and accepting that mistakes
- 26:57Speaker 4: happen can help. Forecast for today, we'll have sunny skies
- 27:02Speaker 4: with highs around 85. Right now, it's 63 in Beltsville.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Don't forget that you get your news. Toby and Tilly's

- 27:15Speaker 2: Stay right there because we're going to get back to
- 27:17Speaker 2: Maddie who's hanging on the line in Germantown. She's got
- 27:20Speaker 2: herself quite a situation. She's pregnant and she's going on
- 27:24Speaker 2: a girl's trip to Vegas. She just doesn't feel like
- 27:28Speaker 2: she should be paying for the booze that her girlfriends
- 27:31Speaker 2: will consume on the trip.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Does that make her a jerk?
- 27:34Speaker 2: 866-927-4361 if you have thoughts you'd like to add to
- 27:39Speaker 2: the conversation as we get back to it. Helping you
- 27:43Speaker 2: solve those dilemmas that come up in your life. We're
- 27:46Speaker 2: Toby and Chili in the morning here at 97.1 Wash FM.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Just a few minutes ago, we heard from Maddie in Germantown.
- 27:53Speaker 4: So she and her friends months ago planned a girl's
- 27:56Speaker 4: trip to Vegas and they budgeted it out, including the alcohol.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Problem now is Maddie is pregnant. So she's wondering, is
- 28:04Speaker 4: she a jerk if she goes back to her friends
- 28:06Speaker 4: and says, listen, when we go on this trip, is
- 28:08Speaker 4: it OK if I don't pitch in for the alcohol
- 28:11Speaker 4: since I can't drink anymore?
- 28:13Speaker 3: 866-927-4361.
- 28:17Speaker 2: That's the number you should call if you have some
- 28:20Speaker 2: thoughts for Maddie. We're sure that you do. And we'll
- 28:23Speaker 2: start in D.C. Good morning, Charity. What's on your mind?
- 28:27Speaker 6: I do think she would be a jerk to bring
- 28:28Speaker 6: it up because she originally made the deal. She'd be
- 28:31Speaker 6: putting her friends out. It's not their issue that she's
- 28:35Speaker 6: now pregnant.
- 28:36Speaker 4: So even if she doesn't drink any of the alcohol,
- 28:38Speaker 4: she should split the bill with them.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, she needs to just.
- 28:42Speaker 4: suck it up stick to the plan.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Well charity that's some um unique advice.
- 28:46Speaker 6: Yeah you can't get petty like that.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Petty chilling how dare she not want to pay for
- 28:53Speaker 4: alcohol she's not gonna drink so petty.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Yep you're just gonna lose friends that way.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Well, Charity, your opinion is absolutely valid because it's your opinion.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Thank you for the call this morning to Annandale. Pam,
- 29:06Speaker 2: what's on your mind about this here conundrum?
- 29:09Speaker 7: Yeah, this is a tough one. I am normally team
- 29:12Speaker 7: split the bill all the way. But drinks, let's be honest,
- 29:15Speaker 7: they're the majority of the bill.
- 29:18Speaker 4: So you think Maddie should let her girlfriends know what's
- 29:20Speaker 4: going on? Yeah, I would definitely say so.
- 29:23Speaker 7: And I'd be like, you know, if this was a
- 29:24Speaker 7: different situation, I would totally put it anyway. But come on, like,
- 29:27Speaker 7: I don't even get to enjoy it, but I'm going
- 29:28Speaker 7: to pay for it.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I think say something.
- 29:30Speaker 2: And that's a valid point there, Charity. Thank you for
- 29:34Speaker 2: your thoughts from Maddie this morning.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Speaking of. Hello, Maddie. You've been listening.
- 29:39Speaker 8: So.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Thoughts?
- 29:41Speaker 6: Honestly, I'm probably just going to suck it up and
- 29:45Speaker 6: pay the thing because like these are friends that I've
- 29:47Speaker 6: had for years.
- 29:48Speaker 4: And I don't want to mess it up.
- 29:49Speaker 6: And I already feel like I'm going to change the
- 29:51Speaker 6: dynamic when I have a baby around.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Well, then it sounds like you've already made up your mind.
- 29:58Speaker 4: And you are a very good friend, even though I'm
- 30:00Speaker 4: sure they would have understood.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's the move.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Good news for teachers or for those thinking about going
- 30:07Speaker 2: into teaching in the DMV.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It's 97.1 Wash FM with Toby and Chili in the morning.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Now, Washington State ranks first among the best states for teachers,

- 30:18Speaker 2: That's all about teacher pay, school spending, and student-teacher ratios.
- 30:24Speaker 2: So congratulations, DMV. Way to represent. Over two hours, commercial-free
- 30:31Speaker 2: music continues. Over two hours, commercial-free music. It's Toby and

- 31:22Speaker 2: I see it, she says, if you want the rainbow,
- 31:25Speaker 2: you got to put up with the rain. Nobody likes
- 31:29Speaker 2: the rain part, but you know what? Difficult seasons, just
- 31:32Speaker 2: like bad weather, it passes. So just keep it moving.
