The Clown Mask: Gordon Wardell and the Murder of Carol Wardell
In September 1994, Woolwich building society manager Carol Wardell, 39, was found dead in a lay-by near Nuneaton, her branch robbed, and her husband Gordon was found bound and gagged at their Meriden home, blaming a gang in clown masks. Knot experts, anaesthetists and the post-mortem took his story apart, and in December 1995 an Oxford Crown Court jury found him guilty of murder; he was jailed for life. Follow the show for the full case every day.
