- 0:01Speaker 1: In this podcast, we discuss unsolved cases that may be
- 0:04Speaker 1: violent in nature in an effort to keep the cases
- 0:07Speaker 1: in the public eye and continue the stories of the victims.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Those who choose to or choose against participating are not
- 0:14Speaker 1: indicative of involvement in any crimes we discuss. Listener discretion
- 0:19Speaker 1: is advised. According to a two thousand and six article
- 0:37Speaker 1: from the Crime and Justice Matters magazine, the reasons or
- 0:40Speaker 1: motives for murder can be condensed into four sets of
- 0:44Speaker 1: l's lust, love, loathing, or loot. In today's episode, we
- 0:50Speaker 1: discuss the potential theories that surround this homicide, keeping those
- 0:55Speaker 1: motives in mind. This is Tragedy a true crime podcast.
- 1:14Speaker 2: One thing I want to address before we get too
- 1:16Speaker 2: far into this episode is some of the things that
- 1:19Speaker 2: we've been hearing from the community, maybe some specific areas community.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It's definitely a small group. What were our motives And
- 1:29Speaker 2: it's interesting to me it was brought up that we
- 1:32Speaker 2: did this for money. Anyone who's listening is I'm gonna
- 1:36Speaker 2: let you know right now that this actually we're not
- 1:39Speaker 2: making any money off this. This is actually costing us money.
- 1:42Speaker 2: We've had to buy software, we had to buy new
- 1:45Speaker 2: mic systems to improve the audio. Trust me, and no
- 1:49Speaker 2: one's endorsing this. Notice there's no ads in these podcasts,
- 1:52Speaker 2: so there's no there's no money to be made here.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And then let's even go, well, when maybe we're after
- 1:58Speaker 2: the you know, maybe or after the war, if we
- 2:02Speaker 2: solve the murder. While I really do hope this podcast
- 2:08Speaker 2: lead to some kind of resolution in this case, again
- 2:11Speaker 2: not our motivation. And I'll go ahead and say upfront
- 2:14Speaker 2: and for everyone to hear, even if that somehow money
- 2:18Speaker 2: comes to us as far as a reward and we
- 2:22Speaker 2: do something or stumble on something that solves as tase,
- 2:25Speaker 2: that reward money in its entirety will be given to
- 2:29Speaker 2: the Kilgore family. We're not interested in that. That's not
- 2:31Speaker 2: what we're about. We're here to do this for one
- 2:34Speaker 2: reason and one reason only. We're here to do it
- 2:36Speaker 2: because we want to help the family. Keep this in
- 2:40Speaker 2: front of the community, keep this in front of law enforcement,
- 2:44Speaker 2: and express the importance of solving this particular case. The
- 2:50Speaker 2: second thing that we wanted to address is the fact that,
- 2:54Speaker 2: you know, the same small group of people have also
- 2:57Speaker 2: indicated that we've gotten a couple of the facts wrong. Now,
- 3:00Speaker 2: to begin with, This has been an incredibly difficult thing
- 3:03Speaker 2: to put together because a lot of people just won't talk,
- 3:06Speaker 2: and a lot of people, even if they do talk,
- 3:08Speaker 2: they won't talk on the record. We're not hearing from
- 3:11Speaker 2: law enforcement, and there's an entire side of the Kilgore
- 3:14Speaker 2: family that has chosen not to participate in the podcast,
- 3:17Speaker 2: meaning that a lot of the information they could pride
- 3:19Speaker 2: that could be helpful is going to be missing. What
- 3:22Speaker 2: I'm going to say here, instead of going behind the
- 3:25Speaker 2: scenes and talking to people that we're speaking with and
- 3:28Speaker 2: trying to correct things and indicating we've got things wrong,
- 3:32Speaker 2: I'm giving you an open imitation right now to come
- 3:34Speaker 2: on the podcast and set the record straight. You want
- 3:37Speaker 2: your side to be told by all means we want
- 3:41Speaker 2: your side to be told. Come join us on the podcast.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We will welcome you any day, anytime.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Before we start talking about rumors and theories, let's set
- 3:50Speaker 1: some ground roles. Anything that we discussed today, we've heard
- 3:54Speaker 1: from at least two, three, sometimes even four people. This
- 4:00Speaker 1: information we've collected through lots of different ways. We've had
- 4:04Speaker 1: people call us, We've had on the record interviews, we've
- 4:08Speaker 1: had several off the record interviews. We've got public records
- 4:14Speaker 1: research happening, social media background searches, and we've also received
- 4:20Speaker 1: emails on our special email that we have set up
- 4:24Speaker 1: for the podcast. So we're not just taking like one
- 4:28Speaker 1: thing that someone said in one place and running.
- 4:31Speaker 2: We needed to see this theme of those types of
- 4:34Speaker 2: statements come up multiple times. We give ourselves a rule
- 4:37Speaker 2: when talking about building this episode that we just weren't
- 4:40Speaker 2: going to talk about anything that we haven't heard in
- 4:43Speaker 2: multiple places. That's kind of the ground hould.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Okay, And something sort of interesting came up in the
- 4:51Speaker 1: background searches that we've been doing that we want to
- 4:55Speaker 1: share with you.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, we'really just kind of joking here a
- 4:59Speaker 2: little bit, but every single person we did a public
- 5:03Speaker 2: records background check on had dozens and dozens of traffic violations.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I just want to let everyone know in the Walka
- 5:12Speaker 2: County community that if you're driving in a Roco County,
- 5:15Speaker 2: be very careful. None of these people can drive, So
- 5:21Speaker 2: it's just it seems like a very unsafe place to drive.
- 5:25Speaker 1: All right, let's get into it. So we're going to
- 5:27Speaker 1: address these rumors and theories, starting with what is least
- 5:30Speaker 1: supported and moving forward from that, right, so, of course,
- 5:34Speaker 1: if you've listened to episode three, you heard this ridiculous thing,
- 5:39Speaker 1: which is what we're going to just automatically take off
- 5:41Speaker 1: the table that Jody faked his own death.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's kind of a hard one for us to
- 5:46Speaker 2: take seriously, because you know, we obviously we have Jodan's body,
- 5:49Speaker 2: we know that, you know, we know that an autops
- 5:51Speaker 2: youth performed, we have blood evidence, and yeah, I don't
- 5:55Speaker 2: know much more, how much more I could really say
- 5:57Speaker 2: about that.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, then we also have the this is more of
- 6:00Speaker 1: a rumor, not necessarily a theory in my perspective, and
- 6:03Speaker 1: it's the hit Man rumor.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Yeah, the Hitman wants to me is kind of interesting
- 6:08Speaker 2: because whenever you think of Hitman, you really you know,
- 6:12Speaker 2: everyone thinks about movies, they think about mobsters, and you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: do I think it's something like that. No, but you know,
- 6:19Speaker 2: there was, you know, a situation where you know, we've
- 6:22Speaker 2: heard from multiple where someone could have been hired. I
- 6:27Speaker 2: don't really have a lot of I don't get a
- 6:28Speaker 2: lot of value in this particular theory because we're not
- 6:32Speaker 2: talking about you know, we're not talking about people have
- 6:35Speaker 2: tons of money here. We're not talking about you know
- 6:38Speaker 2: situations where Jodie was from what we could tell, wrapped
- 6:41Speaker 2: up with any kind of, you know, major operation that
- 6:44Speaker 2: would have made him a target.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And you know, I'm not put in I'm not taking
- 6:49Speaker 3: this one completely off the table, but the concept of
- 6:52Speaker 3: what I traditionally think a hit man is is, I
- 6:56Speaker 3: don't think very realistic based on what we've seen.
- 7:00Speaker 1: And then we have sort of this random person theory.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And this is sort of supported by the location of
- 7:05Speaker 1: the house. It seems to be near the Saint Mark
- 7:08Speaker 1: Bike's bike trail. There seems to be some sort of
- 7:12Speaker 1: maybe it's a business or a house that has several
- 7:14Speaker 1: cars or something that could be accessed that is behind
- 7:18Speaker 1: the location where the murder happened. But I mean, I
- 7:22Speaker 1: don't know the random kind of person thing.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Well, what's interesting because you know, this is something you know,
- 7:30Speaker 2: my mother used to work for a Leon County Shriff's
- 7:32Speaker 2: office and then we had conversations whenever there were certain
- 7:35Speaker 2: types of crime investentsgations going on, and she said something
- 7:37Speaker 2: to me one time that I remember, and she said,
- 7:40Speaker 2: one of the best ways to get away with murder
- 7:42Speaker 2: is to murder someone you don't know. And so when
- 7:45Speaker 2: you start thinking about the fact that this case is
- 7:48Speaker 2: unsolved and there's so many different avenues that we go here.
- 7:53Speaker 2: You know, can we necessarily discount the fact that maybe
- 7:57Speaker 2: Jody was murdered by someone he didn't know, Not really,
- 8:01Speaker 2: because there's a couple of other concepts or things that
- 8:05Speaker 2: we've been told that kind of fold in here. We've
- 8:08Speaker 2: had multiple people talk about something as simple as copper theft. Now,
- 8:14Speaker 2: my issue with the copper theft is this is a
- 8:16Speaker 2: pretty a pretty brutal, in your face crime to be
- 8:23Speaker 2: about theft, and you know, one of the things we
- 8:27Speaker 2: also have to acknowledge is that's an awful lot to
- 8:30Speaker 2: hide and to keep your mouth shut, especially if there
- 8:32Speaker 2: was multiple people. I just feel like if that really
- 8:38Speaker 2: were what had happened, if this was really a copper
- 8:41Speaker 2: theft gone bad, I've I've said the same thing, the
- 8:45Speaker 2: same thing before, you know, earlier episodes. Is I just
- 8:48Speaker 2: feel like they didn't pick up in a week. I mean,
- 8:50Speaker 2: we're not talking about scholars here, you know, we're talking
- 8:53Speaker 2: about people who were stealing, We're talking about people who
- 8:56Speaker 2: were going after copper. We're talking about something that would
- 9:01Speaker 2: have been random, unplanned. Jody stumbled on these people, or
- 9:07Speaker 2: they stumbled on him when he was outside waiting for
- 9:10Speaker 2: Tobe to pick him up. You know, I just feel
- 9:14Speaker 2: like there had to be more thought put into it
- 9:16Speaker 2: to be able to get away with this long and
- 9:18Speaker 2: most importantly, everyone would have had to keep their mouths shut.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And what is the likelihood of that. People like to talk.
- 9:27Speaker 2: People in generally like to talk. We've had a lot
- 9:29Speaker 2: of people talk to us off the record, We've had
- 9:32Speaker 2: a lot of people reach out in the email, We've
- 9:34Speaker 2: had Facebook conversations. So I just feel like I'm not
- 9:40Speaker 2: saying this theory is impossible. I'm just saying this theory
- 9:43Speaker 2: is not high on my list for consideration.
- 10:03Speaker 1: But we do have three theories that we think have
- 10:06Speaker 1: a little more meat to them, and those are the
- 10:07Speaker 1: ones that we'll spend more time discussing. So the first
- 10:10Speaker 1: theory is around Toby Jody's business partner. The second theory
- 10:17Speaker 1: is around Susan Jody's spouse, and the third theory is
- 10:22Speaker 1: around drugs and that kind of thing that was revolving
- 10:25Speaker 1: around with several people.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Which we'll talk about in a little bit. Okay, so
- 10:29Speaker 2: let's go ahead and get into the business partner Toby.
- 10:32Speaker 2: We know that Toby had opportunity. He was on he
- 10:35Speaker 2: was on the side of the murder. He's the one
- 10:38Speaker 2: that discovered Jody's body, and he's the one that made
- 10:40Speaker 2: a nine to one call at ten twenty one. Okay,
- 10:43Speaker 2: let's talk about what we can What supports the theory,
- 10:48Speaker 2: what doesn't support the theory. The call the murder. You
- 10:52Speaker 2: let's go back to the scream for a second, the yelling,
- 10:55Speaker 2: the screaming that happened. We're theorizing, you know, conservatively, not
- 11:01Speaker 2: so truly before ten. So if you if you measure
- 11:04Speaker 2: the time between that scream and when the call happened,
- 11:10Speaker 2: it's only thirty one minutes, which means Toby would have
- 11:13Speaker 2: had to get the argument, commit the murder, get home,
- 11:19Speaker 2: clean up, change clothes, come back, and then call nine
- 11:25Speaker 2: to one one, all in a thirty one minute period.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Now granted acknowledged he lives down the road. We looked
- 11:31Speaker 2: at the maps on this. Conservatively, you know it's a
- 11:35Speaker 2: tight time life. We we we get it all the
- 11:38Speaker 2: way down to really ten minutes to get cleaned up
- 11:44Speaker 2: and get back and make that call. If you believe
- 11:47Speaker 2: the scream is the time of the murder, you have
- 11:49Speaker 2: to believe that too. That's not a lot of time.
- 11:53Speaker 2: And if you're the one making a nine to one
- 11:55Speaker 2: one call, why don't you just give yourself more time?
- 11:59Speaker 2: You know, you could have given yourself an additional fifteen
- 12:01Speaker 2: minutes and this would have been something that had been
- 12:03Speaker 2: a little bit more achievable on that timeline. So let's
- 12:07Speaker 2: also talk about what we've heard about Toby from multiple
- 12:11Speaker 2: people associated the Kilgore family is how good a friends
- 12:14Speaker 2: they were. They were like brothers for each other. They
- 12:18Speaker 2: hung out all the time. So him attacking Jody in
- 12:23Speaker 2: such a brutal way just doesn't feel very lifely to
- 12:26Speaker 2: the family. In fact, Robin and multiple people that we've
- 12:30Speaker 2: talked to, Robin was on the podcast in episode two,
- 12:33Speaker 2: she even said, that's not that's not realistic. Okay, so
- 12:37Speaker 2: there's that. Now, what about the one thing about his
- 12:44Speaker 2: account that I personally don't like? And I was not
- 12:50Speaker 2: in the Toby camp this entire time, but there's one
- 12:53Speaker 2: part of his account that I really struggle with. And
- 12:56Speaker 2: I don't like the fact that his account includes a
- 12:59Speaker 2: shower and change of clothes because, for bri understanding, he
- 13:03Speaker 2: went to the gym, which was reported by several people
- 13:07Speaker 2: took shower, change clothes when picked up Jody. And so
- 13:11Speaker 2: the one thing that I was hanging my head on
- 13:13Speaker 2: was the fact that there was no blood evidence on Tobin.
- 13:19Speaker 2: There just wasn't. And this would have been a particularly
- 13:22Speaker 2: difficult thing to pull off if you're the one who
- 13:24Speaker 2: committed the murder. There's nothing in the truck that we
- 13:27Speaker 2: know of. There's nothing on Toby we know of because again,
- 13:30Speaker 2: even though law Enforce has to talk to us about it,
- 13:33Speaker 2: if these things were true, Toby would have been arrested
- 13:36Speaker 2: that day. He was so not to mention the cameras
- 13:41Speaker 2: associated with filming Toby's truck going in and out of
- 13:46Speaker 2: this road where Toby's own security caps. Why would he
- 13:51Speaker 2: offer that evidence. I mean, it's it's it condemns him
- 13:56Speaker 2: to being kind of in the spotlight for that, for
- 13:59Speaker 2: that type of theory. So at this point I'm not
- 14:06Speaker 2: sure to' see any more on Tobey we can talk about,
- 14:08Speaker 2: but you can see we have things that support it,
- 14:10Speaker 2: things that don't support it, And then I don't know
- 14:14Speaker 2: where else we can take that.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yeah, there are a few other things that I think
- 14:19Speaker 1: sit in that doesn't support Toby as being the person
- 14:24Speaker 1: who committed the murder, and that is we don't seem
- 14:28Speaker 1: to see or have no one's reported any history of
- 14:33Speaker 1: violence from Toby at the time in twenty fourteen or before.
- 14:38Speaker 2: At the time twenty fourteen before, we do have it after, and.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We also don't have any indication. We haven't found any
- 14:47Speaker 1: indication or heard any indication of Toby's involvement with drugs
- 14:52Speaker 1: like weed or that's true through those kinds of things,
- 14:56Speaker 1: that's true.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We've had a lot of conversation abou drugs, which get
- 14:59Speaker 2: too later, but regarding Toby specifically, his name never comes up.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It just doesn't come up in those conversations. Now there's
- 15:10Speaker 2: a rumor associated with steroids. Not sure that's related or not.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But again it doesn't
- 15:19Speaker 2: go back into any of the theories regarding drugs. Again,
- 15:23Speaker 2: when we start talking about that group of people, he's
- 15:27Speaker 2: just never there. He's never part of that story.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yep. And we also remember from the episode three and
- 15:35Speaker 1: we find out from the law enforcement Toby's behavior at.
- 15:39Speaker 2: The crime scene. Oh yeah, he was distraught, frantic. You know,
- 15:43Speaker 2: it's hard to you know, you know, we've seen enough
- 15:45Speaker 2: crime shows that someone can put on a pretty good,
- 15:48Speaker 2: you know, pretty good performance. But you know it's based
- 15:55Speaker 2: on every person that's talked about how Toby was reacting
- 15:58Speaker 2: at the scene. This is not someone who just committed murder.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Now, you did talk a little bit about routine, and
- 16:04Speaker 1: I just do want to say that several people have
- 16:06Speaker 1: said to us that this was Toby's typical routine. Yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I would take I believe it's his grandchildren to the bus,
- 16:13Speaker 1: then he would go to the gym, and then he
- 16:16Speaker 1: would go and pick up Jody. So there's no deviation
- 16:20Speaker 1: from what people have told us was his typical routine
- 16:23Speaker 1: when they were working together.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Right, And so if you had planned to kill someone,
- 16:27Speaker 2: just take down that go down that route for a second.
- 16:30Speaker 2: If you plan to kill someone, would you do it
- 16:32Speaker 2: in a place that you were routinely at all time,
- 16:35Speaker 2: where even if no one knew you were there, they
- 16:38Speaker 2: would be able to say, well, Toby's typically here at
- 16:41Speaker 2: this time? Where was Toby? So why would you do that?
- 16:45Speaker 1: And then the one last thing that I think we
- 16:47Speaker 1: do want to discuss. We know that there was an
- 16:50Speaker 1: LLC that was formed prior with Jody and Toby, and
- 16:55Speaker 1: that we had talked about how that was dissolved a
- 16:57Speaker 1: couple of years before the incident in twenty fourteen.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Team, Let's be clear here though, you know, even though
- 17:02Speaker 2: the LLC was dissolved, we have it under We have
- 17:06Speaker 2: enough evidence now that they were still operating their business.
- 17:09Speaker 2: They just weren't doing it under the LLC.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah. True. And then something I found fairly early on
- 17:16Speaker 1: when I was doing a record's review was this new
- 17:20Speaker 1: LLC that was formed by Toby, and the timing of
- 17:25Speaker 1: that just felt a little weird.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Was it eight weeks? Yes?
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it was December seventeenth, twenty fourteen, which is I mean, yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 1: eight nine weeks after this homicide. Then there's this LLC
- 17:43Speaker 1: that pops up that is from what we can tell
- 17:45Speaker 1: from the public records, it's Toby and his and his wife.
- 17:50Speaker 1: So it just the timing seemed a little odd for us.
- 17:55Speaker 2: The last thing we can talk about when it comes
- 17:56Speaker 2: to Toby that at least what's done upon is we
- 18:00Speaker 2: had several people that have indicated that there were some
- 18:03Speaker 2: kind of loan or you know, you know, someone you
- 18:05Speaker 2: know barred money. Maybe it was Jody and Susan barred
- 18:08Speaker 2: money from from Toby. You know, again, we can't substantiate that.
- 18:13Speaker 2: What we have heard that from multiple people. And the
- 18:16Speaker 2: challenge that I see with that is again I go
- 18:18Speaker 2: back to, this is his friend. I could see this
- 18:20Speaker 2: being a problem, you know, I can see it challenging
- 18:24Speaker 2: the friendship if they were struggle playing it back. Do
- 18:26Speaker 2: I see that escalate all the way to murder? No?
- 18:45Speaker 1: All right, let's move into Susan. All right, right, So
- 18:51Speaker 1: what we know and everyone who listens to true crime,
- 18:55Speaker 1: everybody knows when someone is murdered, the spouse do oh yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 1: they look at who's who's there, who showed up first?
- 19:02Speaker 1: And we always look at the spouse and the and
- 19:04Speaker 1: the close circle. That's that's just part of protocol. So
- 19:09Speaker 1: there are some things that we think don't support this
- 19:13Speaker 1: theory of her involvement, and most predominantly is now I
- 19:20Speaker 1: never I never met Jodi, but you did. And apparently
- 19:24Speaker 1: he was a pretty large.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Stole, strong guy. He's not right, You're not just gonna
- 19:30Speaker 2: be able to grab him and mayn't handle him in
- 19:32Speaker 2: a way you're gonna need if you're small, you're gonna
- 19:35Speaker 2: need some mal Yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 1: And we have heard from a close family member that
- 19:39Speaker 1: there were some pretty significant defensive wounds on one arm.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I think is what we were told. And I have
- 19:48Speaker 1: actually met Susan, and she's really tiny, She's super tiny,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and it doesn't really feel like this would be something
- 19:59Speaker 1: that just as far as the stature, would be something
- 20:02Speaker 1: that that would happen. She's just too small.
- 20:04Speaker 2: She's too small.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We also know that they had recently reconciled. We've heard
- 20:09Speaker 1: from several people that they had separated for a little
- 20:13Speaker 1: while and then they fairly recently before this happened. We
- 20:18Speaker 1: can't really tell if it was a couple of years
- 20:19Speaker 1: or a year the they have reconciled, and.
- 20:22Speaker 2: We can't find people who agreed on that time. Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 2: that's correct.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And Jody had moved back in to the obviously that
- 20:32Speaker 1: he was living there at the time when the homicide happened,
- 20:34Speaker 1: So you know, there doesn't they had just gotten back
- 20:37Speaker 1: together or we're working on coming back together and reconciling.
- 20:43Speaker 1: And we also know, again this came from the town
- 20:48Speaker 1: hall that several people in the family biological evidence was
- 20:54Speaker 1: collected from them, whether that's blood or hair or whatever.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yep, And we go right back to it. If there
- 21:00Speaker 2: was biological evidence of a family member, you know, now
- 21:03Speaker 2: we're dealing with a family member. You know, again, there
- 21:07Speaker 2: would have been a match most likely, and we wouldn't
- 21:10Speaker 2: be having this conversation for this podcast right now. I've
- 21:12Speaker 2: been working on something else.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and remember detectives. To Rocha said, we have this
- 21:16Speaker 1: one piece of evidence that hasn't.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Matched that we've theorized as the is the murder weapon.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Right, So if we're collecting information from everybody, particularly the spouse,
- 21:26Speaker 1: which they're going to do, collecting that biological evidence.
- 21:31Speaker 2: There would be a match, correct, Right.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So these are the things that don't don't support this theory.
- 21:37Speaker 1: There are some things that do support the theory of
- 21:41Speaker 1: possibly her involvement. So you had talked about how Toby
- 21:49Speaker 1: didn't really debate that day, according to.
- 21:52Speaker 2: What people tell me, we were told because he was
- 21:54Speaker 2: right within routine.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yes, we have heard from several people that Susan did
- 21:59Speaker 1: dv ate her typical routine.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah, her routine was during her break at work, she
- 22:06Speaker 2: would have Max meets. Everyone says she can pick up
- 22:08Speaker 2: some cigarettes or something like that, and that particular day
- 22:12Speaker 2: she didn't do that. She went somewhere else. She went
- 22:14Speaker 2: into Crawfordville and this was way out of her way,
- 22:21Speaker 2: and she produced the receipts so she could prove she
- 22:23Speaker 2: was there from what we've been.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Told from my gas station, from that gas station.
- 22:28Speaker 2: But the question is why that day. You know, it's
- 22:32Speaker 2: one of those things that it proves nothing, but it's
- 22:36Speaker 2: odd that that day we deviate from routine.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we know we have the neighbor who
- 22:43Speaker 1: who said he heard what he reported to be a
- 22:47Speaker 1: female screaming it doesn't you know, that doesn't mean it
- 22:50Speaker 1: was herd didn't say anything.
- 22:51Speaker 2: He didn't look outside. Yeah, he didn't check on it.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And you know that that kind of the idea he
- 22:58Speaker 2: didn't check outside bothered me. Yeah, so we started digging
- 23:03Speaker 2: into that as well, and it goes back to even
- 23:06Speaker 2: though they could reconcile he's back, there was obviously still problems.
- 23:10Speaker 2: There was obviously still some challenges there in rebuilding that relationship.
- 23:14Speaker 2: And the comment that we were told was the reason
- 23:17Speaker 2: they didn't look outside is because hearing commotion in that
- 23:21Speaker 2: direction wasn't incredibly uncommon.
- 23:27Speaker 1: We have also had several people talk to us about
- 23:31Speaker 1: potential infidelity, and obviously we know they were separated for
- 23:36Speaker 1: a time. That doesn't mean that people are you know,
- 23:40Speaker 1: not being monogamous, but sometimes when people are married and
- 23:44Speaker 1: they separate, that that is what happens. So we do
- 23:47Speaker 1: have this kind of theme of potential infidelity.
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's hard for me to have a strong opinion there.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I mean, I do I think we've heard enough that
- 23:58Speaker 2: you know, there was definitely you know they were seeing
- 24:01Speaker 2: other people. Yeah, I think we've heard enough to know
- 24:04Speaker 2: that's true. Do we know whether it's the timeline they
- 24:08Speaker 2: were actually together, living together and not separated. No, because
- 24:11Speaker 2: again we can't even confirm that timeline because we've heard
- 24:14Speaker 2: everything from a couple of weeks to two years. So
- 24:18Speaker 2: the big thing that makes me kind of throw the
- 24:20Speaker 2: infidelity concept out is and well it's from a farsh
- 24:25Speaker 2: being related to the murder, is the fact that I
- 24:28Speaker 2: don't think that would produce the fear that we're seeing
- 24:31Speaker 2: in the community. There's so many people that have talked
- 24:36Speaker 2: to us, and the first thing they tell us is
- 24:38Speaker 2: how afraid they are to have a conversation, that they
- 24:41Speaker 2: don't want their name used, which is fine, we're not
- 24:43Speaker 2: using anyone's name here, but that didn't approve it. But
- 24:47Speaker 2: we get into this situation, I'm like, okay, cool, if
- 24:49Speaker 2: we believe that because one of the crazier theories related
- 24:53Speaker 2: to this is, oh, you know, there was some infidelity
- 24:56Speaker 2: and Susan's boyfriend, you know, was hired asked to kill Joey.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I mean, I think this is a ridiculous concept. I
- 25:05Speaker 2: think there's no evidence to support that. And at the
- 25:08Speaker 2: end of the day, even if that were true, why
- 25:12Speaker 2: the fear in the community. Where's that coming from.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an excellent point.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It doesn't support that being the truth.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And frankly, having an affair does not mean does not
- 25:24Speaker 1: mean you're also going to go murder someone. Like, there's
- 25:26Speaker 1: really no it's not a direct link. We'll say. The
- 25:30Speaker 1: final thing that we have heard from several people related
- 25:36Speaker 1: to Susan is this pattern of aggression. So you know,
- 25:40Speaker 1: we said earlier that we didn't really see that from
- 25:44Speaker 1: No one really told us anything about Toby being aggressive
- 25:48Speaker 1: at the time of the homicideer even before, but we
- 25:51Speaker 1: do have several people talking about a pattern of of
- 25:55Speaker 1: aggression with Susan, physical altercations with family members. Of course,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you hit on the loud the arguments that were happening,
- 26:03Speaker 1: which could be why the neighbor he didn't call or
- 26:06Speaker 1: didn't do anything because he's kind of used to hearing
- 26:08Speaker 1: the loud arguing. And we have people telling us that
- 26:13Speaker 1: they have overheard challenging conversations between Jody and Susan, like
- 26:19Speaker 1: on speakerphone or even you don't even have to go
- 26:21Speaker 1: on speaker sometimes when someone's yelling, you can hear that
- 26:26Speaker 1: they're yelling. And I think most notably what is of
- 26:31Speaker 1: concern to us is this absence of recent participation, whether
- 26:37Speaker 1: it be in this podcast or the vigils, the community
- 26:43Speaker 1: event that we outlined last year. You know, we did
- 26:47Speaker 1: have someone tell us that Susan and several people were
- 26:50Speaker 1: at the funeral, but beyond that, we've had people say,
- 26:55Speaker 1: you know, she doesn't go to the vigils. She doesn't
- 27:00Speaker 1: doesn't go to any of them. Now, again, that doesn't
- 27:02Speaker 1: mean that you murdered someone, but this was a traumatic event, right,
- 27:05Speaker 1: and so there's some potential of not wanting to go
- 27:11Speaker 1: to the vigils because it brings it up again. But
- 27:13Speaker 1: it does seem unusual that if your husband were murdered,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I can only speak for how I would behave Again,
- 27:22Speaker 1: it's really sort of we have to be careful, I
- 27:25Speaker 1: think about this conversation because you never really know how
- 27:28Speaker 1: someone's going to behave in trauma, but I just it
- 27:32Speaker 1: sits a little odd with me, so.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, And the final theory that we want to discuss
- 27:54Speaker 4: is the theory of some level of drugs drug involvement.
- 28:00Speaker 1: People who are doing drugs have drugs being involved in this.
- 28:06Speaker 1: There's really only one thing that we can sort of
- 28:09Speaker 1: talk about that doesn't support this theory, and that is
- 28:12Speaker 1: that we really have no indication of Jody's involvement. I
- 28:16Speaker 1: think you mentioned kind of at the beginning of doing
- 28:18Speaker 1: drugs other than some some marijuana.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we know that you know Jody case right, and
- 28:25Speaker 2: that doesn't look for a weed occasion. Let's be honest,
- 28:30Speaker 2: and yeah, I mean we start getting a drug conversation first,
- 28:33Speaker 2: I want to start with this. We are purposely not
- 28:36Speaker 2: going to use names after this point because there was
- 28:39Speaker 2: so many different connections. If anyone's interested in the names,
- 28:43Speaker 2: they're going to have to do their own public record search.
- 28:45Speaker 2: We're take because we're not trying to condemn anyone or
- 28:48Speaker 2: anyone look bad during this. During this part of the conversation,
- 28:52Speaker 2: all we're going to do is acknowledge how strong the
- 28:55Speaker 2: drug connection was. In multiple areas.
- 28:58Speaker 1: So you want to start with that, Yeah, you took
- 29:01Speaker 1: it right out of my mouth there. This is persistent
- 29:03Speaker 1: across almost everyone that we have talked to or has
- 29:07Speaker 1: reached out to us. Drugs have This is like the
- 29:11Speaker 1: golden threads are related.
- 29:13Speaker 2: It's even one of the things that It's why it
- 29:15Speaker 2: surprised us when the.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Detectives at the community event indicated that will and then
- 29:23Speaker 5: when they talked about their theories they didn't include a
- 29:24Speaker 5: drug theory, because when we listened to that again, we
- 29:27Speaker 5: were like, how did you not?
- 29:29Speaker 2: Because we can't get away from it.
- 29:32Speaker 1: So let's talk about the evidence that we found that
- 29:37Speaker 1: puts family members close to Jody involved in drugs. We
- 29:46Speaker 1: know from an August twenty fifteen article on the WTXL
- 29:52Speaker 1: web page that there were five people, three of whom
- 29:57Speaker 1: we know are related to Jody, and they were a
- 30:00Speaker 1: being to buy sudafed at the Greens.
- 30:04Speaker 6: Well yeah, they were attempting to obtain suit of fed
- 30:09Speaker 6: at the Walgreens, and an employee called law enforcement to
- 30:13Speaker 6: issue trespass mornings to these five people.
- 30:17Speaker 1: So when law enforcement arrived, two of the five were
- 30:20Speaker 1: found to have open warrants, right and as soon as
- 30:23Speaker 1: that happens, then we've got probable cause, right, So they
- 30:28Speaker 1: bring the canine and the cannine goes around the car.
- 30:32Speaker 1: We've all seen it, you know, if you watch, you
- 30:35Speaker 1: know on Patrol Live or LIPD, you watch and the
- 30:37Speaker 1: dog alerts, and sure enough, dog alerts on this car.
- 30:40Speaker 1: They check the vehicle and they find meth, marijuana, and
- 30:43Speaker 1: drug paraphernalia all in this vehicle where these five had
- 30:47Speaker 1: traveled together to obtain the pseudo faed.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:54Speaker 1: So one of those individuals who was related to Jody
- 30:58Speaker 1: was arrested for having session of more than twenty grams
- 31:02Speaker 1: of marijuana, and the other individual with the open warrant
- 31:06Speaker 1: was charged with resisting arrest and possession of myth. So
- 31:11Speaker 1: we got the marijuana, the drug periphernalia, all that kind
- 31:13Speaker 1: of stuff. The other three individuals of the original five,
- 31:18Speaker 1: which included two family members of Jody, were just given
- 31:22Speaker 1: the trespass warnings. So we have these five people, several
- 31:25Speaker 1: of them are related to Jody. This is shortly after
- 31:28Speaker 1: this is actually a year exactly a year after the homicide,
- 31:32Speaker 1: and we're wrapped up with these people with marijuana, drug paraphernalia,
- 31:38Speaker 1: possession of meth. And then we also know that one
- 31:43Speaker 1: of those five original people, who is a family member
- 31:47Speaker 1: of Jody, was charged in twenty eighteen with two counts
- 31:50Speaker 1: of possession and sale of meth, one count each of
- 31:53Speaker 1: possession with intent to distribute myth, possession of MDMA, which
- 31:58Speaker 1: is ecstasy, possession and of a synthetic narcotic, and two
- 32:02Speaker 1: counts of use of a two way communication device to
- 32:04Speaker 1: commit a felony. And this is all according to the
- 32:06Speaker 1: lod call A Sheriff's Office Facebook posts in December of
- 32:11Speaker 1: twenty eighteen. So we say all this to say, this
- 32:15Speaker 1: is why the drugs keep coming up when we talk
- 32:17Speaker 1: to people, right so shortly after the homicide, within a
- 32:20Speaker 1: year and then three years later, we've got people very
- 32:23Speaker 1: close to Jody who are wrapped up in meth. We've
- 32:27Speaker 1: even heard cocaine kind of sporadically here and there from people.
- 32:31Speaker 2: And we've got, you know, we've got potentially a drug
- 32:35Speaker 2: deal that went down with some guy in Panacea regarding
- 32:39Speaker 2: what we will ease, either cocaine or meth. We've got,
- 32:42Speaker 2: you know, people who've reported us about multiple trips to
- 32:45Speaker 2: Tallahassee to pick up cocaine. And you know, in reality,
- 32:50Speaker 2: this is peppered all through this story, both before and
- 32:54Speaker 2: after Jodie's murder. So again I go back to what
- 32:57Speaker 2: I said before. Having a drug theory around us seems
- 33:02Speaker 2: odd and it kind of makes me feel like, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 2: one of the things Detextas Rocha said was, oh, if
- 33:08Speaker 2: I had a theory, you would never know about it. Well,
- 33:12Speaker 2: instead of acting like Colombo, I think maybe we do
- 33:15Speaker 2: know about it. Maybe this is the theory we're not talking.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yeah, And so what this all boils down to is
- 33:21Speaker 1: that possibly someone in Jody's family got in over their head, right,
- 33:26Speaker 1: and Jody was the victim of whatever this scenario.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Was, saw the crossfire. You know. Again, no evidence he
- 33:33Speaker 2: was any more involved than you know, smoking a little
- 33:36Speaker 2: weed occasionally. But you know, maybe if he was more involved,
- 33:40Speaker 2: you know, we haven't heard that. Maybe he was involved
- 33:43Speaker 2: in the crosshairs of what happened. Maybe they came looking
- 33:46Speaker 2: for something he didn't understand it, and he is the
- 33:49Speaker 2: message and maybe that's where the fear comes from.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Yes, that's exactly where I was about to go. Just
- 33:54Speaker 1: to bring us all the way back to this fear
- 33:56Speaker 1: that we had talked about earlier, is several people have
- 34:02Speaker 1: said or reported Facebook posts where someone has said, hey,
- 34:08Speaker 1: you need to stop doing this or else, the same
- 34:10Speaker 1: thing will happen to you that happened to Jody. So
- 34:14Speaker 1: this is where the fear makes sense. Because earlier you
- 34:17Speaker 1: talked about where it didn't you know, didn't.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Make sense, couldn't come up with the fear piece. And
- 34:22Speaker 2: when I start thinking about these all these theories we've
- 34:24Speaker 2: discussed the fear, I would be fearful if I was
- 34:28Speaker 2: involved in this part of it, and so I couldn't
- 34:31Speaker 2: blame people for having the same response I would have myself. Okay,
- 34:51Speaker 2: so what do we do from here? How do we
- 34:53Speaker 2: how do we kind of bring all this together? Well,
- 34:56Speaker 2: our goal here wasn't to solve Jodie's murder, you know,
- 35:01Speaker 2: would I like that to be the outcome? Yes. Our
- 35:03Speaker 2: goal was to gather as much information as we could,
- 35:07Speaker 2: put it in a consumable format, talk about the theories
- 35:12Speaker 2: a little bit more openly, talk about what is realistic
- 35:15Speaker 2: not realistic, and really just encourage the community to be
- 35:21Speaker 2: a bit more open and a bit more forthcoming when
- 35:24Speaker 2: it comes to what they may know about this particular case.
- 35:29Speaker 2: The SHARE's office has an open investigation right now. Now,
- 35:33Speaker 2: I know we can make the argument, because we certainly
- 35:35Speaker 2: can because the shares Celice hadn't called us back either.
- 35:40Speaker 2: But at this point I can't even argue the fact
- 35:43Speaker 2: that we were both in Denver at the time of
- 35:46Speaker 2: the murder. You know, we're just spodcasters. We're just here
- 35:49Speaker 2: to put as much information out there as we can
- 35:52Speaker 2: and to make sure that this story stays in front
- 35:55Speaker 2: of the public, stays in front of the community, and
- 35:57Speaker 2: stays in front of the shaff's office that this community
- 36:01Speaker 2: wants to solved. And the only way it's going to
- 36:04Speaker 2: happen is I'm going to just kind of restate one
- 36:06Speaker 2: of the things Wacola County Sheriff's Office set is we
- 36:09Speaker 2: need more evidence. We need more people coming here and
- 36:11Speaker 2: talking to us. Guys, if you know something, go knock
- 36:14Speaker 2: on the door to the Sheriff's office, give them that
- 36:17Speaker 2: piece of information. Let's bring closure to what happened here.
- 36:21Speaker 2: And if you don't have anything, great, no problems, share,
- 36:24Speaker 2: show up to the vigils, you know, show up, show support.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Let's don't let this kind of disappear out into the ether.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Despite extensive investigations by the Waucola County Sheriff's Office and
- 36:52Speaker 1: the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. No arrests have been made,
- 36:55Speaker 1: and the case remains unsolved. It is the only unsolved
- 36:59Speaker 1: homicide in Walcola County. Authorities continue to seek information from
- 37:04Speaker 1: the public to help solve the case. The Kilgore family
- 37:07Speaker 1: has been vocal in their pursuit of justice, keeping the
- 37:10Speaker 1: case in the public eye and urging anyone with information
- 37:14Speaker 1: to come forward. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has
- 37:18Speaker 1: also shared appeals for assistance on social media, emphasizing the
- 37:22Speaker 1: importance of community involvement in resolving this case. If you
- 37:27Speaker 1: have any information related to George Jody Kilgore's murder, please
- 37:32Speaker 1: contact the Wacolla County Sheriff Office, the Florida Department of
- 37:36Speaker 1: Law Enforcement, Big Bend Crime Stoppers at eight five zero
- 37:42Speaker 1: five seven four eight four seven seven, or you can
- 37:46Speaker 1: email us at who killed George Kilgore at gmail dot com.
- 38:03Speaker 4: I don't know
