Latest / College Football Addiction: A Show About All Things College Football / Texas CRITIC Does NOT HOLD BACK on Lonhorns, Sark, & Arch!
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Can we bitch about Texas now?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Baby, let's do it.
- 0:04Speaker 3: The Texas Longhorns presented by PrizePix. Back-to-back losses against unranked teams.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Florida is now ranked. So based on how you factor that,
- 0:16Speaker 3: I guess maybe you could say that one of them
- 0:18Speaker 3: was a ranked team. But more of the same.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Cole, I'll let you do it.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Number one, stop blaming Arch entirely. I get it. I
- 0:26Speaker 1: know that Arch is bad. Arch is not a good quarterback.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I will say this until I'm blue in the face.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Arch has been terrible this year. He is not a
- 0:34Speaker 1: good quarterback. That being said, this is on Steve Sarkeesian.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, you have 21 games of film on
- 0:41Speaker 1: what Arch Manning does well. You have not made any
- 0:44Speaker 1: single adjustment. You have run the same offense out there
- 0:46Speaker 1: every single week and said, here, figure it on out,
- 0:48Speaker 1: even if you can't do it properly. That's on you.
- 0:50Speaker 1: That's on coaching. And the fact of the matter is
- 0:53Speaker 1: that you have a guy who sits at the top
- 0:55Speaker 1: of the tower and acts all high and mighty and
- 0:57Speaker 1: talks down to people because if he isn't somebody who
- 1:01Speaker 1: has worked and been able to win a national title
- 1:03Speaker 1: as an offense coordinator and thinks that he is able
- 1:05Speaker 1: to speak confidently like he knows better than anybody else.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Your offense is the reason you were going to go
- 1:11Speaker 1: 8-4 this year. Your play designs are the reason why
- 1:14Speaker 1: more losses are coming. It's not done. Guys, they're not
- 1:17Speaker 1: done losing. Texas, in my opinion, is not going to
- 1:21Speaker 1: the playoff. This sealed it yesterday. Yesterday was the nail
- 1:24Speaker 1: in the coffin of, oh, well, you know what? I
- 1:26Speaker 1: had hope and belief that maybe, just maybe, that game
- 1:29Speaker 1: Red River was, you know, an outlier. It's the same offense.
- 1:33Speaker 1: You made no adjustments. And the problem is, and I
- 1:35Speaker 1: heard somebody talk about this. I don't remember who it was.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But they mentioned how this entire offseason was about getting
- 1:41Speaker 1: with the explosives and building the house with a bunch
- 1:45Speaker 1: of really nice things. You want to come to this house.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You want to come inside because they got the pool table.
- 1:52Speaker 1: They got Topgolf. They have all these little things. Golden Tee.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They got a mini bar that's filled to the brim.
- 1:57Speaker 1: They got a keg. Like all the things in the
- 2:00Speaker 1: extremities that make the house really well. But the foundation
- 2:03Speaker 1: is shit. And because of that... Oh, why the hell
- 2:07Speaker 1: am I going to be here when it blows over
- 2:09Speaker 1: and capsizes on itself? Because that's the offensive line. You
- 2:13Speaker 1: spent money on Hollywood Smothers. You spent money on Raheem Biles.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You spent money on Cam Coleman. Where's this offensive line?
- 2:21Speaker 1: It still is a mess. It still is a fault.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And then defensively, yeah, you were able, you gave up,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I mean, you certainly allowed Florida to find its way
- 2:30Speaker 1: back into this game. Florida also took the advantages against
- 2:32Speaker 1: you in this game. And the fact is, is that
- 2:34Speaker 1: you need Colin Simmons out there to stand a chance
- 2:37Speaker 1: against anybody that's on your schedule because you still have
- 2:40Speaker 1: Camario Taylor and company coming to town. You still have
- 2:43Speaker 1: Trinidad Chambliss next week. You got to go to Death
- 2:45Speaker 1: Valley to take on Sam Levitt. You need that guy
- 2:49Speaker 1: on the edge that can go ahead and win those
- 2:51Speaker 1: one-on-one battles and put pressure on a quarterback, and now
- 2:53Speaker 1: he's out. So you lose your best asset. Arch isn't good,
- 2:57Speaker 1: but neither is the play calling. And we are very,
- 3:01Speaker 1: very close to saying the things that we said last
- 3:04Speaker 1: season about James Franklin down in the 40 acres. And
- 3:07Speaker 1: I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility
- 3:09Speaker 1: to say that Steve Sarkeesian will not be the head
- 3:11Speaker 1: coach of Texas after this year.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You went all in.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You want to talk about Lincoln Riley having to be
- 3:19Speaker 1: playoff or bust? You were national championship or bust. Maybe
- 3:23Speaker 1: not winning the thing, but being in it. You're not
- 3:26Speaker 1: a playoff team right now. You're 8-4. You're Texas 8-4.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I'll get right back to this clip of the Power
- 3:34Speaker 3: 2 here on the College Football Addiction Network. But first,
- 3:36Speaker 3: I want to tell you about our friends over at PrizePix.

- 3:52Speaker 3: more on Jordan Love. We took the more on Dak
- 3:54Speaker 3: Prescott's passing yards. Expect a lot of points in that
- 3:58Speaker 3: Dallas versus Green Bay game. You can get on the
- 4:00Speaker 3: PrizePix app as well. They've got it for college football.

- 4:19Speaker 3: There's a ton on there from Champions League soccer to
- 4:22Speaker 3: the NBA starting back up, NHL's going, MLB postseason.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Shout out my Rays.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And then, of course, college football, the most important thing
- 4:29Speaker 3: that happens in this country.
- 4:31Speaker 2: We appreciate Price Picks for their support. Now back to
- 4:33Speaker 2: the clip.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You're not the one in College Station. You're the other one.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And this is on Steve Sarkeesian. Humble yourself. If I
- 4:42Speaker 1: am Chris Del Conte and I decide to keep him
- 4:44Speaker 1: around for one more year, it comes with an addendum.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You hire an offensive play caller and get your shit
- 4:49Speaker 1: out of the office. I'll hire somebody that will. You
- 4:51Speaker 1: can't waste $ 50 million on this roster. You can't waste
- 4:55Speaker 1: another year of not developing Archman. He's not gotten any better.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He's regressed beyond repair. You may have to bench him
- 5:04Speaker 1: because he has no confidence anymore. I've watched him die.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I've watched him give up.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Tom? It's very strange to me. The diagnosis on Simmons
- 5:17Speaker 4: is it's an ankle sprain, so you've got to see
- 5:19Speaker 4: how that goes. He could be back this coming week.
- 5:22Speaker 4: He could be out two weeks, three weeks. You have
- 5:25Speaker 4: no idea. So that's a major hit to this defense.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And you could tell when he went out of the game,
- 5:29Speaker 4: it was kind of like the air went out of
- 5:31Speaker 4: the room a little bit. Defensively, I don't have that
- 5:34Speaker 4: many concerns because Simmons getting back is going to be important. offensively,
- 5:39Speaker 4: it's so bizarre because back into last season, last, what,
- 5:42Speaker 4: six games, I think we can all agree Arch Manning
- 5:45Speaker 4: looked good for this offense. You can look at the
- 5:48Speaker 4: level of competition and understand maybe where some of that
- 5:50Speaker 4: comes from, but still, he looked like he was doing
- 5:53Speaker 4: better the back end of last season. I've talked about
- 5:56Speaker 4: this before. These are 18 to 22-year-olds. There's maybe no
- 6:00Speaker 4: player in the country with more pressure on them than
- 6:03Speaker 4: Arch Manning. It's entirely possible that that his recruiting evaluation
- 6:07Speaker 4: out of high school was severely inflated because of his
- 6:10Speaker 4: last name. I think we can all agree on that.
- 6:13Speaker 4: And then when you automatically hear the discussion from Paul Feinbaum,
- 6:16Speaker 4: he's going to be the greatest quarterback to ever play
- 6:19Speaker 4: college football. He's going to be the number one overall
- 6:21Speaker 4: pick in 2027. This guy was saying during the off
- 6:24Speaker 4: season that, Hey, the Texas team you want to worry
- 6:27Speaker 4: about is maybe not in 26, maybe in 27. If
- 6:30Speaker 4: you can bring a lot of these pieces back, if
- 6:32Speaker 4: arch can have another year to develop potentially because the
- 6:35Speaker 4: Right now, he's not seeing it. Whatever it is, the
- 6:37Speaker 4: connection between Sark and Arch, it's not there. I think
- 6:41Speaker 4: Arch's capability, I think people will hate to hear this,
- 6:44Speaker 4: but if he transferred to a slightly smaller school, you
- 6:48Speaker 4: would see him do fantastic numbers, and he would probably
- 6:51Speaker 4: be in a situation where there's less pressure, less expectations.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Sometimes that's good for a young person. Maybe not for
- 6:58Speaker 4: a Manning, where the expectations are the freaking moon, Steve
- 7:02Speaker 4: Sarkeesian might go down as one of those head coaches
- 7:05Speaker 4: that is probably better off being a coordinator in that
- 7:08Speaker 4: category of Lincoln Riley, in that category of Brent Venables.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I think we're discovering that. I was talking about this
- 7:14Speaker 4: in the offseason. I was like, hey, it's great that
- 7:16Speaker 4: they brought in Cam Coleman and Hollywood Smothers and they
- 7:19Speaker 4: let Wisner and a couple guys take a walk. I
- 7:22Speaker 4: was like, I didn't think a running back, the guy
- 7:24Speaker 4: carrying the ball, was the problem. I thought it was
- 7:26Speaker 4: the offensive line.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It wasn't good.
- 7:28Speaker 4: And they didn't do a ton to address the offensive
- 7:31Speaker 4: line during the offseason. They're not very deep when it
- 7:33Speaker 4: comes to the offensive line. Like, you look at Goosby
- 7:36Speaker 4: and say, yeah, he could be a first-round pick. Everybody else,
- 7:39Speaker 4: you're kind of like, hmm, it's not really there. They
- 7:41Speaker 4: didn't spend the money in the transfer portal to go
- 7:45Speaker 4: get the guys along the offensive line that would shore
- 7:47Speaker 4: this thing up. They got the shiny hood ornaments. They
- 7:50Speaker 4: got Cam Coleman. They got Hollywood Smothers. That'll fix the problem.
- 7:54Speaker 4: It's the oldest story in football. If you're not good
- 7:57Speaker 4: in the trenches, nothing happens. And this offensive line is
- 8:01Speaker 4: not elite. And that's been a problem for them all season.
- 8:03Speaker 4: They're not running the football to the point that they
- 8:06Speaker 4: want to be. It's better than last year, but something
- 8:09Speaker 4: is better than horrible. So I don't know. I agree
- 8:13Speaker 4: with Cole. I think this could be the last year
- 8:15Speaker 4: for Sarkeesian in Texas, because it sounds like they're wearing
- 8:19Speaker 4: thin on his overall act for him to step in
- 8:22Speaker 4: front of the media and continue to talk down to
- 8:24Speaker 4: the media, that reeks of an insecurity. He doesn't seem
- 8:28Speaker 4: to have the same creativity that he had many years ago.
- 8:31Speaker 4: And I understand he's overcome a lot in his personal life.
- 8:34Speaker 4: He's embraced his sobriety, all those sorts of things, wonderful things.
- 8:38Speaker 4: But I don't think he's cut out to be a
- 8:40Speaker 4: head coach. I think he's cut out to be a coordinator.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm going to make this clear. I'm not taking a
- 8:44Speaker 1: shot at Steve Sarkeesian, the person. I'm taking a shot
- 8:47Speaker 1: at Steve Sarkeesian, the head coach. You are your own
- 8:49Speaker 1: worst enemy right now. You are clearly your own worst enemy.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Because here's the part that I cannot stomach from hearing
- 8:58Speaker 1: it from fans either. You want to blame Arch, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: that's fine. This is who he is. You're the coach.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You're the coordinator. You're the guy calling the plays. You
- 9:10Speaker 1: have to make life work with the surroundings that you have.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You're making no adjustments. And instead, you say yesterday in
- 9:19Speaker 1: a press conference, everything is under evaluation. Is giving up
- 9:23Speaker 1: play calling duties under evaluation? Or are you too prideful
- 9:26Speaker 1: for that? Because right now, Texas, they're favored against Ole
- 9:32Speaker 1: Miss by three and a half. And that is the
- 9:34Speaker 1: fastest I have ever laid down money on a gambling line.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I ran to the nearest play and said, here, take it.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Why?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Because it's the easiest play that I can bet this week.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Kamario Taylor's coming to town. The reality is the rest
- 9:50Speaker 1: of the season besides one game.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It's Ole Miss or Trinidad?
- 9:54Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It's Ole Miss and that's Mississippi City. Oh, okay.
- 9:58Speaker 1: But I... in every game, minus the Texas A &
- 10:01Speaker 1: M game at the end of the year, you will
- 10:03Speaker 1: have the weaker quarterback. Sam Leavitt is a better quarterback
- 10:06Speaker 1: right now than Arch Manning. Austin Simmons is a better
- 10:09Speaker 1: quarterback right now than Arch Manning. Kamario Taylor is a
- 10:12Speaker 1: much better quarterback than Arch Manning. Trinidad Chandler is the
- 10:15Speaker 1: best quarterback in the SEC besides moving under Stockton. Sorry,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you will have the weaker quarterback in every single game.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And he has no confidence.
- 10:22Speaker 2: And you have nothing to do. A new setting. could
- 10:26Speaker 2: absolutely do him some good.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I don't know what you guys think about this, but
- 10:30Speaker 3: we may have, we may have a spot available. We
- 10:37Speaker 3: may have a head coach spot too, as much as
- 10:39Speaker 3: you're crapping on Sark.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Like I'll take that too.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Sark arch reunion and Sark demote Norvell to offensive court coordinator.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Cause he's, he's teamed it up last night.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And then have arch running the offense. So I don't know.
- 10:54Speaker 2: We'll see.
