A tragic multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 460 claimed the life of Appomattox County Sheriff’s Deputy Burlie W. Duvall, who was assisting motorists when struck by a tractor-trailer. The accident, possibly linked to a wheel malfunction, also injured several others. Virginia State Police lead the investigation as the highway remained closed. Sheriff Chad Parks honored Duvall’s sacrifice, calling him a hero who gave his life protecting others.
