Latest / Northman Coaching / Pride: The Pharaoh Within
Transcript
- Gary: Here's the question for us. When consequences of your choices become obvious, do you change or work harder to defend yourself? You don't need a throne to act like Pharaoh. You can do it in your kitchen when your child tells you that your words hurt. You can do it in a relationship when someone raises concern and you immediately put them on trial. You can do it at work when everyone sees the problem, but you refuse to listen because changing course would mean admitting that your decision has failed. Pride can make being right feel more important than actually making things right. And the people around you, pay for it. Free thinking means being willing to question your own position. Ask yourself, what evidence would make me reconsider? If your answer is nothing, examine whether you're protecting a belief or protecting your ego. Conviction needs room for honest examination. Otherwise, You can mistake stubbornness for strength.
