- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's funny, like those are the types make up play
- 0:21Speaker 3: Terry Glenn? What are we doing?
- 0:23Speaker 4: I can play on the ball.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Nobody knows what you're talking about.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Just through showing Aaron Glenn highways on NFL Network.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Did you know Aaron Glenn was the coach of the Jets.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 0:34Speaker 5: I didn't know it's true or not, but it is.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Hates everybody and everything in the.
- 0:39Speaker 5: League, especially the seventies Steelers.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Oh no, everybody and everything.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Way to get me started on the seventy Steelers. I
- 0:45Speaker 3: heard the ball boy got into the Pro Football Hall
- 0:47Speaker 3: of Fame on the seventies Steelers. It's true, you know us,
- 0:52Speaker 3: we're we're trying to you know, the Patriots dynasty. It's
- 0:55Speaker 3: like trying to pull teeth. But you know, I heard
- 0:57Speaker 3: the third string long snapper and the seventy Steelers in the.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Pro Football and the waterboy on the Steelers had like
- 1:02Speaker 5: a six gallon jug. He was just walking down with
- 1:04Speaker 5: one armhold da.
- 1:05Speaker 2: He's got a bust and can You're right, too many
- 1:07Speaker 2: Steelers got in at that time.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I don't know why would you care to elaborate?
- 1:12Speaker 2: No, I just think there was which one, A lot
- 1:15Speaker 2: of follow them, A lot of them.
- 1:16Speaker 4: That's what I was getting at them.
- 1:18Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:24Speaker 6: dot com.
- 1:27Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:31Speaker 2: at Gillette Stadium. It's a busy stadium. They're getting ready
- 1:34Speaker 2: for the ac DC concert. So if you hear any
- 1:37Speaker 2: like wow uh during the show, that's the guy in
- 1:40Speaker 2: the shorts wrong around. Yeah, but it's deuce to me.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Paul and Evan will be by soon as well as Alex.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Drake May is talking to the media as we speak,
- 1:51Speaker 2: so Evan's taking that in. Paul is in waiting for
- 1:55Speaker 2: one of his college coaches draft pick Stories to call him,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and Alex will be here as well. Yeah. Yeah, that's
- 2:03Speaker 2: just me and you for a few moments.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Two of us. We can make it if we try.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Let's get to yeah, you and I, uh yeah, it's
- 2:12Speaker 5: just real quick. Paul's waiting for his interviews is what
- 2:14Speaker 5: we do after they draft these guys and finishing up
- 2:17Speaker 5: my Kyle Williams story. Had some good conversations with his
- 2:20Speaker 5: high school coach and then as well as his receiver
- 2:22Speaker 5: coach for the last two years at Washington State, who
- 2:25Speaker 5: also coach Kendrick Bourne at Eastern Washington. A little tibbet though,
- 2:29Speaker 5: he said, is Kyle Williams a favorite player to study
- 2:32Speaker 5: growing up with Stefan Diggs, so he's excited for him
- 2:34Speaker 5: to get into the locker room with him. And just
- 2:37Speaker 5: all the coaches echoed what everybody said around here. Fred
- 2:40Speaker 5: was just he really want everybody over with his personality,
- 2:42Speaker 5: and you know, it just seems to really make an
- 2:44Speaker 5: impression on people.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's cool.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Be good.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Some news that happened yesterday some more people being released
- 2:52Speaker 2: by the team, Jake Andrews among them.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Yep.
- 2:55Speaker 2: So you know, Jake was drafted as a possible center candidate.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So I guess, you know, they like what they have
- 3:02Speaker 2: in the room right now and found him expendable, so
- 3:05Speaker 2: he was released. And you never know with these guys,
- 3:08Speaker 2: especially this time of year, they get released and they
- 3:10Speaker 2: kind of tell them, you know, don't don't pack up
- 3:13Speaker 2: yet you never know, you could be back on practice
- 3:16Speaker 2: squad or whatever down the road, but for now he's gone.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And then, you know, before Tuesday show, they we couldn't
- 3:24Speaker 2: say it. I knew it, but you know, they released
- 3:27Speaker 2: Joe Cordona, which ten years You saw a lot of
- 3:33Speaker 2: things on Patriots Social about that when it happened, some
- 3:36Speaker 2: tributes there, and it's a story that I wanted to
- 3:38Speaker 2: tell on Tuesday, but I really couldn't.
- 3:41Speaker 7: But on.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Was it Monday? Monday afternoon? I guess he was told
- 3:48Speaker 2: and he asked Stacy if he could talk to the
- 3:52Speaker 2: content team, and it just so happened that we were
- 3:55Speaker 2: having a department meeting, so we're all in one room
- 3:59Speaker 2: and he came in and he said, you know, I
- 4:01Speaker 2: want to thank you guys. And you know, at the time,
- 4:03Speaker 2: I was like, thank us for what? And what do
- 4:05Speaker 2: we do? He goes, well, no, I just got released,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but I want to thank you guys for everything that
- 4:10Speaker 2: you've done. And he was like choked up. And I
- 4:13Speaker 2: can tell you, in my thirty years here, we've never
- 4:16Speaker 2: had a player come up and do that, either individually
- 4:22Speaker 2: or as a group. You know, thank us for what
- 4:25Speaker 2: we did. And it was you know, I was touched
- 4:27Speaker 2: by it. It was it was really nice. You were
- 4:30Speaker 2: there me too.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean at first, just say end of an
- 4:32Speaker 5: era with you know, Joe Cardona. I think he's the
- 4:35Speaker 5: last Patriot who won the Super Bowls with the team
- 4:37Speaker 5: and when they won their super Bowl. So certainly, like
- 4:40Speaker 5: I said, at the end of an era. But I
- 4:41Speaker 5: you know, for me, that was an emotional moment and
- 4:43Speaker 5: you know, a lot of credit for Joe to come
- 4:45Speaker 5: up and do that, but it's just you hear about
- 4:47Speaker 5: Ohen you know, I mean you just said, I like, oh,
- 4:48Speaker 5: Jake Andrews got released, or you know, some of these guys,
- 4:50Speaker 5: and you just seem to kind of gloss over it.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Certainly Joe Cardona is not in that group, but it
- 4:55Speaker 5: just you realize the human element of this, and you know,
- 4:58Speaker 5: he's got roots here, He's been here for a long time.
- 5:01Speaker 5: And I'm sure some of the writing was on the
- 5:03Speaker 5: wall when they drafted a long snapper, but I think
- 5:06Speaker 5: even still you thought, well, maybe he'll stick around, there'll
- 5:08Speaker 5: be some competition. So it was just it was it
- 5:10Speaker 5: was a tough, touching moment, but hard and you just
- 5:13Speaker 5: see that these guys really go through a lot, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 5: trying to pursue this career. And I mean every player
- 5:18Speaker 5: probably at some point has to hear that kind of
- 5:19Speaker 5: news that they don't want to.
- 5:20Speaker 2: You know. Basically, he held down two jobs while he
- 5:23Speaker 2: was here, you know, because he'd have to go down
- 5:25Speaker 2: to Newport and do stuff, and so, you know, it
- 5:30Speaker 2: was it was a bittersweet and that he got cut,
- 5:34Speaker 2: but it was really nice for him to come up
- 5:36Speaker 2: and do that. Like I said, it's never happened before.
- 5:39Speaker 2: And when he left, I told our group, I said,
- 5:42Speaker 2: you know, just remember that they know who we are. Like,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you know, they may not know our names, and you're
- 5:49Speaker 2: not going out to dinner with him and all that stuff,
- 5:51Speaker 2: but when we're down there or at the practice field
- 5:54Speaker 2: or at games on the sideline, they know who we are,
- 5:57Speaker 2: you know, so just remember that that we're kind of
- 6:00Speaker 2: like their teammates a little bit, a.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Little bit, I mean, and i'd say, just from my
- 6:03Speaker 5: experience of being here almost six years, it's it's certainly
- 6:07Speaker 5: never really felt that way when when Bill was here
- 6:09Speaker 5: in the early years.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Part of that COVID.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Literally you know, discourage them from saying hello to us.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Yeah, and I mean just from my experiment COVID, everybody
- 6:18Speaker 5: was kind of out and so you were in the
- 6:20Speaker 5: locker room anymore. You felt separated anyway. But you know,
- 6:23Speaker 5: these last you know, the last year with your odd
- 6:25Speaker 5: and even into this year with Mike, it just seems
- 6:28Speaker 5: a lot more like we're involved in those kinds of things,
- 6:30Speaker 5: and it does feel like that's building. So it's hopefully
- 6:33Speaker 5: gonna be you know, a good relationship and where I
- 6:34Speaker 5: mean to me, the biggest thing is trying to get
- 6:36Speaker 5: great content for the fans and trying to get access
- 6:38Speaker 5: and you know, show behind the scenes, and we've got
- 6:40Speaker 5: so much stuff in the pipeline. I'm really excited about
- 6:44Speaker 5: that that I think it's only going to serve the
- 6:45Speaker 5: fans better. It's not really about us and getting to
- 6:47Speaker 5: know them or feeling like I just want to get
- 6:49Speaker 5: the good stuff and have them trust us to be
- 6:52Speaker 5: able to get.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not about being friends, you know, off the
- 6:55Speaker 2: field or any It's about getting our job done and
- 6:58Speaker 2: respecting each other. Yeah, them understanding what we're trying to do,
- 7:03Speaker 2: you know, make them look good, you know, but also
- 7:05Speaker 2: inform and entertain our fans and us understanding what they
- 7:09Speaker 2: have to do. Yeah, and like not impede that. So
- 7:13Speaker 2: but that was that was nice. I just want to
- 7:15Speaker 2: I thought people would like to know that about Joe.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Special guy. I mean, there's no other way to put it.
- 7:21Speaker 5: And then Joe Cardono was a really special guy. And uh,
- 7:23Speaker 5: and I mean probably a little bittersweet that he was
- 7:25Speaker 5: named captain last year and you know, but it just
- 7:28Speaker 5: shows the leadership that he has. Obviously being in the Navy,
- 7:31Speaker 5: he has, you know, incredible discipline and work ethic, everything
- 7:34Speaker 5: he went through at the Naval Academy. So I mean
- 7:35Speaker 5: he's gonna be missed around here for sure. It's a
- 7:37Speaker 5: tough situation, but that's football. Maybe it's how it works. Unfortunately.
- 7:42Speaker 2: So right now, you know, the veterans are here and
- 7:44Speaker 2: they're practicing, and uh, they'll be here all week, I guess, yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 2: pretty much. And then next week they'll give way to
- 7:50Speaker 2: the rookies. So the rookies will be in next week,
- 7:53Speaker 2: they won't be with the veterans. The veterans will go
- 7:56Speaker 2: off on their own. But next week we'll be rookie
- 7:58Speaker 2: mini kid.
- 7:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 5: So I think we'll get media access day next Friday,
- 8:01Speaker 5: so we'll get a little look at these guys, I
- 8:04Speaker 5: got to go back and look at my notes of
- 8:05Speaker 5: what we actually saw last year. I feel like it's
- 8:07Speaker 5: a lot of stretching at a lot of you know,
- 8:09Speaker 5: not a whole lot to glean, but I just think
- 8:12Speaker 5: it's the next step, and coming off of Frable's hiring,
- 8:15Speaker 5: free agency, the draft, I want to see this team
- 8:19Speaker 5: on the field, even though it's not gonna be real
- 8:20Speaker 5: football and we're not gonna come out with all this
- 8:22Speaker 5: analysis of what they did. It's just it's another step
- 8:25Speaker 5: in the process of the offseason. And you know, it's
- 8:27Speaker 5: hard not to know. Today's May so two months away
- 8:30Speaker 5: from from I guess closer to three, but you can
- 8:32Speaker 5: say two months training camp coming up. So I just
- 8:34Speaker 5: think there's a little bit of a groundswell rising with
- 8:37Speaker 5: this offseason this team's had, and it'll build up to
- 8:39Speaker 5: Mini camp and I'm just excited to see it all
- 8:41Speaker 5: come together. It's all new, you know, Fred, It's like
- 8:43Speaker 5: even with Girod last year, there were a lot of
- 8:45Speaker 5: threads that carried over. You weren't seeing entirely new schemes
- 8:48Speaker 5: or even players being used in different ways. A lot
- 8:51Speaker 5: of it there was a lot of carryover. But this year,
- 8:53Speaker 5: I'm not expecting that. I think there's gonna be a
- 8:54Speaker 5: lot more new and especially for me as a defense guy,
- 8:58Speaker 5: getting to see a real new defense of scheme that
- 9:00Speaker 5: these guys have cooked up. So I don't I just
- 9:03Speaker 5: a lot to be excited about this offset and it's
- 9:05Speaker 5: gonna be good. Next week get out there and watch
- 9:06Speaker 5: a little little football court.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that'll be exciting. And you know, while we're talking
- 9:10Speaker 2: about good guys, I was on a call this morning
- 9:12Speaker 2: with Dante Scarnekia because at the end of May, there's
- 9:17Speaker 2: an event in Germany in Cologne called American Football Madness,
- 9:21Speaker 2: and it's the first American Football convention, if you will,
- 9:25Speaker 2: like so it's think of NFL experience during the Super Bowl.
- 9:28Speaker 2: They're gonna have something like that in this you know,
- 9:31Speaker 2: indoor arena and then they're gonna have outdoor clinics and
- 9:35Speaker 2: it's like a three day event. And we're going over there,
- 9:38Speaker 2: the Patriots and Dante's coming and he's going to give
- 9:41Speaker 2: offensive line clinics because in Germany that's the position they
- 9:45Speaker 2: have the most trouble filling because of you know, it's
- 9:48Speaker 2: finding guys. So like he's going to give clinics you know,
- 9:54Speaker 2: overcoming measurables with technique, things like that. And he's on
- 9:58Speaker 2: the he's on the call today with a bunch of people,
- 10:01Speaker 2: you know, going over the itinerary, and he's like, I'll
- 10:04Speaker 2: do whatever you want me to do, you know, whatever
- 10:06Speaker 2: you need, I will do. Like he's such a great guy,
- 10:10Speaker 2: and like we want to make sure that people in
- 10:13Speaker 2: Germany understand like the thing that they're getting, Like you're
- 10:16Speaker 2: getting a legend, Like these are going to be these
- 10:18Speaker 2: are American football coaches in Germany. They're going to be
- 10:21Speaker 2: getting coached by one of the greatest offensive line coaches
- 10:26Speaker 2: in you know, American football history. So like I thought
- 10:29Speaker 2: that was cool, but like he was just so willing,
- 10:32Speaker 2: you know, like, hey, this is important to me too.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I want to make sure that they're going to really
- 10:37Speaker 2: get value out of what I'm teaching.
- 10:39Speaker 5: It's nice to hear that he is still interested in
- 10:41Speaker 5: teaching and coaching, because I know as he got out,
- 10:43Speaker 5: I mean he came back once. I know he loves woodworking,
- 10:46Speaker 5: and but he's got so much experience and talents it's
- 10:49Speaker 5: kind of a shame. Like he's the kind of guy
- 10:51Speaker 5: that should be in the Pro Football Hall of fame,
- 10:53Speaker 5: not as a lot as a Hall of Famer, but
- 10:54Speaker 5: like you know, guys like him who just gave so
- 10:57Speaker 5: much to the sport, give so much to New England.
- 10:58Speaker 5: I mean he's been here and the what like the eighties,
- 11:01Speaker 5: I mean he was he was here forever. Absolutely remember
- 11:04Speaker 5: him interim coach in the early nineties for a little.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Bit McPherson when he got sick.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, so he's there. The more I just
- 11:10Speaker 5: glad to hear Dante's still in it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I know, I'm glad he's in the Patriots Hall of Fame. Yeah. Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 2: so so I just you know, while we were going
- 11:18Speaker 2: down talking about good guys, Yeah, I figured i'd relay
- 11:21Speaker 2: that that little nugget. All right, So, as I said, Paul,
- 11:27Speaker 2: Evan and Alex will be here soon and we'll start
- 11:30Speaker 2: heating things up. Eight five five PATS five hundred is
- 11:33Speaker 2: the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We've already got people calling in. Yeah, so why don't
- 11:42Speaker 2: we get to them before Paul comes and takes all
- 11:44Speaker 2: the oxygen out of the road, you know, as he's
- 11:47Speaker 2: wont to do.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Uh, let's go to.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Mark in Connecticut to lead things off what's up Mark?
- 11:55Speaker 2: How you guys doing marking?
- 11:58Speaker 7: Well?
- 11:58Speaker 2: Mark? So I was open to talk to Evan and Paul.
- 12:01Speaker 8: But that's okay, jeez, that's okay.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Well, you might be in a lot because here he comes, ladies.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Here comes Paul.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Mark.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Mark wanted to talk to you. He's from Connecticut. So
- 12:12Speaker 2: Paul's just sitting down now.
- 12:14Speaker 5: It's a grand entrance right there.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Get your call. You got blown off? Oh man? Okay,
- 12:20Speaker 2: what's up? Mark?
- 12:22Speaker 7: So my one gripe about the draft. We have two
- 12:26Speaker 7: aging tight ends. Austin Hooper's on a one year deal,
- 12:29Speaker 7: Unter Henriette the Cast one year left after this year,
- 12:32Speaker 7: and this was a tight end loaded draft. I was
- 12:35Speaker 7: really hoping for them to really, you know, draft one
- 12:38Speaker 7: of these really good prospects. But on the other hand,
- 12:41Speaker 7: I was doing a lot of research and the undrafted
- 12:44Speaker 7: free agent from Alabama, DJ Dupree actually looks like a
- 12:48Speaker 7: really good tight end for the future. And I just
- 12:51Speaker 7: wanted to get Paul in Evan's take on him because
- 12:54Speaker 7: I think he actually has a legit shot to make
- 12:57Speaker 7: the team with his blocking ability and he's supposed to
- 13:00Speaker 7: he has some good hands. They used him a lot
- 13:01Speaker 7: in the screen game, but he has a lot of
- 13:04Speaker 7: good upside.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I think he was on my envelope. I'm not sure.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I'm not sure was he on the back of the
- 13:09Speaker 4: envelop I'm sure such a big school for the back
- 13:11Speaker 4: of the envelope. Yeah, I understand the disappointment because I
- 13:18Speaker 4: felt it was a good tight end class too. But
- 13:20Speaker 4: this kind of gets back to what we were talking
- 13:21Speaker 4: about during the draft weekend. It's impossible to come away
- 13:25Speaker 4: with everything when you need everything, and I think it's
- 13:29Speaker 4: a fair observation to say you have two aging tight ends,
- 13:33Speaker 4: two guys in the thirties, so with a good class,
- 13:36Speaker 4: it would have made sense to try to get one.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I think that was probably on the radar, and for
- 13:40Speaker 4: whatever reason, it didn't work out that way. I try
- 13:43Speaker 4: not to get too amped up about undrafted guys. I
- 13:47Speaker 4: think they are always pleasant surprises when they make the
- 13:49Speaker 4: team and they actually contribute.
- 13:51Speaker 7: He was supposed to be a fifth or sixth round pick,
- 13:54Speaker 7: is what ever was saying. He was wipe the bride
- 13:57Speaker 7: that he went on drafted, so we might have got
- 13:59Speaker 7: a diamond in the rout.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, again, I'm going to stick with my I
- 14:04Speaker 4: will be pleasantly surprised if a guy who's undrafted ends
- 14:07Speaker 4: up being a contributor, and I will watch them when
- 14:11Speaker 4: they get here, just like everybody else and hope for
- 14:13Speaker 4: the best.
- 14:13Speaker 2: All Right, Thanks Mark, appreciate the call. Paul.
- 14:16Speaker 4: While you were gone, I I was listening a little bit.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You talked about I talked about.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Joe Cardonay you were there, and you did. You made
- 14:25Speaker 4: a comment that that's the first time that anything like
- 14:27Speaker 4: that has happened, and I would agree. I mean, I've
- 14:29Speaker 4: had guys come up to us and it's funny. I
- 14:33Speaker 4: joke around about this all the time. We I feel
- 14:35Speaker 4: like we have better relationships with the guys when they
- 14:38Speaker 4: retire than we do when they play. Not that we
- 14:41Speaker 4: have adversary. I haven't had really any adversarial relationships with players,
- 14:45Speaker 4: to be honest, but it it does seem. Fred. You
- 14:49Speaker 4: made the comment about how they know who we are
- 14:51Speaker 4: and they might not always let you know. That is
- 14:54Speaker 4: so true, so true, Like they know who we are
- 14:57Speaker 4: and they understand and respect what we trying to do
- 15:01Speaker 4: and how we try to like stay out of the
- 15:04Speaker 4: way as best we can. But we're here, and I
- 15:08Speaker 4: do feel like once they retire and they sort of
- 15:11Speaker 4: can express that it's it's refreshing, and it was a
- 15:14Speaker 4: nice thing that Joe did the other day that was
- 15:16Speaker 4: that was certainly unnecessary, but it was a nice touch.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Let's go to Mitch and Fort Benning. Hey, Mitch,
- 15:25Speaker 2: hey Fellows, how you doing good?
- 15:28Speaker 9: All right? So with the draft coming and going, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 9: obviously it was a really good draft, but I wanted
- 15:33Speaker 9: to ask you guys something about quarterbacks just in general.
- 15:36Speaker 9: With the draft, I watched a lot of college football
- 15:40Speaker 9: shout out Bowling Green State University, and I feel like,
- 15:43Speaker 9: since I've gotten really into college football, I can kind
- 15:45Speaker 9: of see which quarterbacks I think are gonna just be
- 15:48Speaker 9: terrible that end up getting picked in the first round,
- 15:51Speaker 9: like Kenny Pickett, Chiubinski, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones.
- 15:57Speaker 9: So what is it behind the scenes that makes these
- 15:59Speaker 9: guys gets drafted? Is it like the owner saying we
- 16:02Speaker 9: need to just get somebody even if you're not totally
- 16:04Speaker 9: sold on him, Like, how does someone like Zach Wilson
- 16:07Speaker 9: who really had no good college tape but namorous people
- 16:11Speaker 9: thrown in shorts and a T shirt, Or Mac Jones
- 16:13Speaker 9: who's surrounded by all world talent. How did they get
- 16:16Speaker 9: propped up to the point where everyone's getting sold on him?
- 16:19Speaker 9: And I like your Poul take on this too, because
- 16:21Speaker 9: he's probably the original Mac Jones taterer.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I would just say with Mac Jones,
- 16:26Speaker 4: I think, how do you get fooled? It's exactly what
- 16:29Speaker 4: you said, you know, the guy surrounded by immense talent,
- 16:32Speaker 4: and I thought he was nothing more than sort of
- 16:34Speaker 4: a facilitator and got the ball where it seemed like
- 16:38Speaker 4: he had an aptitude for the position, and he took
- 16:41Speaker 4: advantage of having a better player virtually across the board
- 16:44Speaker 4: at every position than the other team did. I would
- 16:49Speaker 4: push back on Zach Wilson and Trey Lance, like how
- 16:51Speaker 4: did they get drafted? You watch their skills, and Zack
- 16:55Speaker 4: Wilson didn't have any good college tape. He was terrific
- 16:57Speaker 4: this last year.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He watches a lot of college.
- 17:00Speaker 4: But he was terrific his last year at BYU. Is
- 17:03Speaker 4: what I'm saying now. I was not a huge Zach
- 17:05Speaker 4: Wilson guy.
- 17:06Speaker 2: So I'm got one Mitch.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not pretending that I was huge on Zach Wilson.
- 17:11Speaker 4: And you know, I thought he got overdrafted, But he
- 17:15Speaker 4: has first round skills. I mean, I don't think there's
- 17:18Speaker 4: any question about the first round skills. What he doesn't
- 17:20Speaker 4: have is the Mac Jones part, the aptitude. How many times, Mike,
- 17:24Speaker 4: when we're playing the Jets, do we said, my god,
- 17:26Speaker 4: I feel like I've watched Zach Wilson throw that same
- 17:28Speaker 4: interception against New England, rolling to his right up near
- 17:32Speaker 4: the sideline, throw it away, throw it away, throws it back,
- 17:35Speaker 4: Devin mccordy picks it off, like I felt like I
- 17:37Speaker 4: watched that play five times. Well, that's just in games
- 17:41Speaker 4: against the Patriots.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I think, Mitch, what you're seeing is, you know, I
- 17:46Speaker 2: have to call it desperation. There's so few people on
- 17:50Speaker 2: the planet that can play quarterback at the NFL that
- 17:55Speaker 2: these scouts and personnel people they see something. They see
- 17:59Speaker 2: the aptitude. I can work with his skills, They see
- 18:01Speaker 2: the skill I can work with his mental totally, and
- 18:04Speaker 2: and and you know, desperation seems like a you know,
- 18:09Speaker 2: hyperbolic word to use, but it is that way. There's
- 18:12Speaker 2: so few people on this planet.
- 18:14Speaker 4: But I also it's like there are so few quarterbacks
- 18:17Speaker 4: in my opinion, that fail because they're not good enough.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Mac Jones, in my opinion, is failing because he's not
- 18:23Speaker 4: quite good enough skills wise. That ain't Zach Wilson's problem. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 4: that isn't Trey Lance's problem. Trey Lance can't stay healthy.
- 18:30Speaker 4: But his career got derailed before it even started for
- 18:33Speaker 4: different reasons. But like JaMarcus Russell, you're telling me he
- 18:38Speaker 4: doesn't have the ability to play, or he wasn't studying
- 18:40Speaker 4: any film and all the other things that go along
- 18:42Speaker 4: with it. There's so much that goes into playing quarterback
- 18:45Speaker 4: that's beyond the skills. That's why they miss so much.
- 18:49Speaker 4: These guys all have the ability. They have the ability
- 18:52Speaker 4: to play.
- 18:54Speaker 9: I just want to say, Josh totally holds up.
- 18:56Speaker 5: There you go, match, I.
- 18:58Speaker 9: Just thought, for the first time last year, Evan totally.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Wrong, Mitch, Mitch Chef's kiss my friend. That was excellent.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I'll send you a picture of the ole Jaws totally
- 19:06Speaker 4: holds up. Evan's out of his mind.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah, of course it does.
- 19:10Speaker 4: I love it. Mitch.
- 19:11Speaker 5: If I can just piggyback on when you guys were saying,
- 19:13Speaker 5: I just I go back to how we were talking
- 19:16Speaker 5: and thinking from about March twenty twenty to April twenty
- 19:21Speaker 5: twenty one before they took Mac. Now, I you know,
- 19:23Speaker 5: but that feeling of we're lost in the wilderness without
- 19:26Speaker 5: a quarterback, you're dead in the water, and you understand
- 19:28Speaker 5: how desperate you get. I mean we were desperate. We
- 19:32Speaker 5: were like Cam Newton, can we you know Jared's did
- 19:34Speaker 5: in the answer that's you know, you feel good once
- 19:36Speaker 5: you get to the point where even when you drafted Mac,
- 19:38Speaker 5: it's like, is he perfect? No, but let's invest in him,
- 19:41Speaker 5: and you know you put all your hopes and dreams
- 19:42Speaker 5: on that kid. But that's the same place that so
- 19:44Speaker 5: many of these NFL teams are that have no quarterback.
- 19:47Speaker 5: You just you don't have a chance until you have
- 19:48Speaker 5: that piece.
- 19:49Speaker 4: And I know this is probably an unpopular take, but
- 19:52Speaker 4: in some ways I sort of I respect what the
- 19:55Speaker 4: league did this year. Yeah, me too, with the situation.
- 19:58Speaker 4: They didn't allow themselves to be the next in line
- 20:01Speaker 4: for a guy they weren't sold on. That doesn't mean
- 20:03Speaker 4: Shedus Sanders or Quinn Yours or any of these guys
- 20:06Speaker 4: that got drafted well after they expected to be won't
- 20:09Speaker 4: be good players. Maybe they will be, But for whatever reason,
- 20:14Speaker 4: the Browns, the Giants, and the Saints and the steel
- 20:17Speaker 4: they weren't sold on the skills, so they didn't force it,
- 20:21Speaker 4: and they they they let it, you know, they let
- 20:23Speaker 4: it play out. I think if more teams did that,
- 20:27Speaker 4: I think you'd be better off. But I think mac
- 20:29Speaker 4: Jones and that in that draft that you're talking about,
- 20:32Speaker 4: is probably the only one of those five guys that
- 20:34Speaker 4: failed because I don't think he quite had the skill
- 20:36Speaker 4: set necessary. But justin fields, I mean, I think he's
- 20:41Speaker 4: talented enough. He just hasn't quite put it all together.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Hopefully it doesn't.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no, that's that's true. But you know, like
- 20:48Speaker 4: my point, like I think there's a difference between Zach
- 20:51Speaker 4: Wilson failing and Mac mac Jones failing. I think that's
- 20:55Speaker 4: two entirely different reasons.
- 20:56Speaker 7: Right.
- 20:56Speaker 5: There's enough like random hits. You know, everyone loves to
- 20:59Speaker 5: play the hits, like Dak Prescott and I mean Brady's Brady.
- 21:02Speaker 5: But you know the later round guys where you realize
- 21:04Speaker 5: there are guys who fall through the cracks and there
- 21:06Speaker 5: are guys that on paper, maybe it doesn't line up
- 21:09Speaker 5: that they're going to be a legit starting quarterback in
- 21:12Speaker 5: this league that can win important games. So you know,
- 21:15Speaker 5: I totally agree that's and that's the reason why I
- 21:17Speaker 5: made the bet with you on Shador. It's just I
- 21:19Speaker 5: thought the NFL is afraid and these teams there's only
- 21:22Speaker 5: so many options that you can take that you actually
- 21:24Speaker 5: can sell.
- 21:24Speaker 4: It wasn't a terrible bet that you made, because so
- 21:27Speaker 4: often that's what happens. Now, guy ends up getting taken
- 21:31Speaker 4: before he probably should because he's a quarterback.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Do you think there's a world in which Tim Tebow
- 21:35Speaker 2: could have succeeded as a quarterback?
- 21:37Speaker 5: I just keep thinking that that that clip of him
- 21:40Speaker 5: for the like I threw the football better than him.
- 21:43Speaker 5: I just I still don't quite understand how you can
- 21:47Speaker 5: be that bad and still get drafted in the first round.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Like, because I'll be an you, like I I can't
- 21:52Speaker 4: quite understand how he was able to win any games
- 21:55Speaker 4: that he did, you know, that little stretch of tebow
- 21:58Speaker 4: Mania there and whatever it was eleven Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 2: The throw against Pittsburgh and the playoffs.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I can't believe like he came hearing it
- 22:06Speaker 4: having a complete inability to complete a forward pass and
- 22:09Speaker 4: he was able to like throw an eighty yard touchdown
- 22:12Speaker 4: at overtime. One, Like, I give him a little. It's testimate,
- 22:16Speaker 4: it's a testament to his just his character, his winner,
- 22:21Speaker 4: you know, quotient and all that. But yeah, no, I'm
- 22:24Speaker 4: not I don't think.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm just wonder.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I don't think he could have figured that if you were.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Willing to completely transform your offense to be a Tim
- 22:30Speaker 2: Tebow type offense where the Ravens right, well, they did
- 22:35Speaker 2: you think they tried to?
- 22:36Speaker 4: They did. They ran all that stuff, they ran the
- 22:39Speaker 4: zone reads and and all that stuff, and that you
- 22:42Speaker 4: remember that that's the game I was talking about a
- 22:43Speaker 4: couple of weeks ago, Mike the the one game at
- 22:46Speaker 4: Denver with Tebow, and they killed they killed the Patriots.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It was like they were up like sixteen to seven.
- 22:51Speaker 4: They scored the first three times they had the ball,
- 22:52Speaker 4: two touchdowns in a field goal, they missed one of
- 22:56Speaker 4: the extra points sixteen to seven right out of the shoot,
- 22:59Speaker 4: and then Bill went to the sideline, started to just
- 23:02Speaker 4: do your job, you know, made a couple of adjustments.
- 23:05Speaker 4: They completely shut it down. But that was that was
- 23:07Speaker 4: a gimmick offense. That was a you know, why did
- 23:10Speaker 4: they bring him here?
- 23:12Speaker 2: Good questions?
- 23:13Speaker 4: So I think it had I don't know, I mean,
- 23:16Speaker 4: I think it had something to do with Josh's affinity
- 23:18Speaker 4: for him, you know, he kind of wanted that kind
- 23:20Speaker 4: of guy. And I think Bill had that in his head, like,
- 23:22Speaker 4: you know, one.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Can do what he can do and maybe I mean,
- 23:25Speaker 5: do you think they had on him playing quarterback or
- 23:28Speaker 5: was that to feel it out and see if we
- 23:29Speaker 5: can from somewhere else.
- 23:30Speaker 4: No, it was quarterback. He played quarterback, you know in
- 23:33Speaker 4: training camp, unless they were doing something like in the
- 23:35Speaker 4: bubble when we weren't around or something like.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I think there was a hidden agenda. Well, we'll let
- 23:40Speaker 2: him have a shot, and when he realizes he can't
- 23:42Speaker 2: do it, we're going to convert him to another position.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Maybe maybe you know, maybe and maybe he pushed back
- 23:48Speaker 4: and then he pushed he pushed back on it. That's
- 23:50Speaker 4: that's not a bad theory for.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know, but it's a good
- 23:53Speaker 2: question like why.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Yeah, bring him here, you know, And it was I mean, Mike,
- 23:57Speaker 4: good guy.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I know you guys have said it.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Good kid, Like he killed more worms in that training can't.
- 24:02Speaker 5: But like for Bill at that point, wanting to avoid
- 24:05Speaker 5: any distraction that he can is it the jewe was
- 24:09Speaker 5: the juice worth the squeeze.
- 24:10Speaker 4: It's almost like he was sort of hypocritical in some
- 24:14Speaker 4: of the things he said and did, almost like that.
- 24:18Speaker 2: But he's an example of all it takes is one
- 24:20Speaker 2: All it takes is one scout or head coach or
- 24:24Speaker 2: GM to like you and you're a quarterback, and it
- 24:28Speaker 2: would be.
- 24:28Speaker 5: A great Josh truth serum question in the first round.
- 24:31Speaker 5: What's up?
- 24:32Speaker 4: We see? In terms, there's there's a lot. You know,
- 24:36Speaker 4: Mitch just brought up like quarterbacks that did whatever in
- 24:39Speaker 4: college and then didn't pan out on the pros. I'm
- 24:41Speaker 4: not talking about guys that just you know, they were
- 24:44Speaker 4: they went, they played in college, and then they went
- 24:46Speaker 4: to the pros and they had sort of average careers.
- 24:49Speaker 4: I can't think of a guy who is a better
- 24:52Speaker 4: college player and a worse pro than TV right right,
- 24:58Speaker 4: That's why it seems impossible. He he is on I
- 25:01Speaker 4: don't care how many you do. He's on a very
- 25:03Speaker 4: short list of the greatest college football players of all time.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Five yeah, yeah, ten national titles.
- 25:12Speaker 4: But I mean just the ultimate winner, the ultimate performer
- 25:17Speaker 4: in the clutch, like and he couldn't do anything in
- 25:20Speaker 4: the pros.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Like the increase in the ball size that that three
- 25:23Speaker 5: maybe maybe honestly yeah, but even still like I mean,
- 25:28Speaker 5: you know, I have like an NFL sized ball and
- 25:30Speaker 5: a college size ball. We threw a wrest of it.
- 25:31Speaker 5: I mean this is different.
- 25:32Speaker 4: It's different that the NFL is longer and the college
- 25:35Speaker 4: one is shorter and fatter. It's about the girth.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Okay, all right, Ques in Atlanta, what's up?
- 25:42Speaker 4: Q Hey?
- 25:46Speaker 10: I got three quick thing. First of all, I like
- 25:49Speaker 10: everything that this new vision has done, except when they
- 25:52Speaker 10: have decided to release new players. So I wish I
- 25:56Speaker 10: would to give you the veteran players. I wish they
- 25:58Speaker 10: were the game.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Cardona.
- 26:00Speaker 10: I was able to release them at the beginning of
- 26:02Speaker 10: the year so they could have had a chance to
- 26:04Speaker 10: find on elsewhere. Speaking in this new regime, how can
- 26:07Speaker 10: we haven't hurt from Torrell Woodie year? We hurt from
- 26:09Speaker 10: everybody accepting me. I'm just make sure everything is okay
- 26:12Speaker 10: with him, you know, yep, because I don't know we got.
- 26:15Speaker 7: To hurt from them.
- 26:16Speaker 10: And my last thing is on the wide receiver. Everybody
- 26:19Speaker 10: is so quick to push a folk movie and they
- 26:23Speaker 10: through out the door. But with a Kennick Bourne and
- 26:27Speaker 10: in step On Diby and we have one good year
- 26:29Speaker 10: left and those other guys Wouldever, when you get rid
- 26:31Speaker 10: of they go and have eight good years. I think
- 26:34Speaker 10: that would be a mist So I don't think he
- 26:36Speaker 10: should push them out the door so quick. But bring
- 26:38Speaker 10: me to my last point. Do you think this new
- 26:40Speaker 10: regime will have the Foxville flu like.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Filding Thanks Foxborough flu?
- 26:45Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 26:45Speaker 2: I mean they could put some guys on the shelf,
- 26:47Speaker 2: you know.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Uh yeah, I mean I don't Tryll Williams, I don't know.
- 26:50Speaker 5: I was scheduled to speak a couple of weeks ago
- 26:52Speaker 5: and he didn't. But other than that, I don't know
- 26:54Speaker 5: anything about it.
- 26:55Speaker 4: He was he was out of town. Yeah at the time.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I don't know, you know why. I don't know what
- 27:00Speaker 4: came up. But I don't know. I haven't heard anything
- 27:02Speaker 4: about any problems, no like that. And I mean I
- 27:07Speaker 4: agree a lot of people have talked about Born being
- 27:09Speaker 4: the guy out too.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Yeah, And I don't really care. I'm not pushing anybody
- 27:13Speaker 5: out the door, like. I just want all these guys
- 27:14Speaker 5: to compete and may the best man win. I don't
- 27:17Speaker 5: care who it is of this group. I mean, I
- 27:19Speaker 5: have a little bit of hope still for Jalen Polk
- 27:21Speaker 5: and even a little bit for Jaymon Baker. But to me,
- 27:25Speaker 5: let the best man emerge. And I just I think
- 27:27Speaker 5: there's some uncertainty with Stefon Diggs and how soon is
- 27:30Speaker 5: he going to be ready and you have to factor
- 27:31Speaker 5: that into your wide receiver.
- 27:33Speaker 2: He may not be available right away.
- 27:34Speaker 4: But you're nailing it like it's survival with the fittest.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Whoever deserves to stay will stay.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Yeah, And on the vets, I would just say, sometimes
- 27:41Speaker 5: you need to get a look at these guys. You
- 27:43Speaker 5: got to get a sense of what direction they're headed,
- 27:45Speaker 5: Are they healthy? You know, it's not just I mean,
- 27:47Speaker 5: I think it would have been a worse look to
- 27:48Speaker 5: just first day a free agency or whatever just blanket
- 27:51Speaker 5: cut you know, all these vets. I mean, I think
- 27:53Speaker 5: it's it's not that simple. It's a feeling out process
- 27:56Speaker 5: and understanding where guys are at and what direction we
- 27:59Speaker 5: want to go. And now that raft comes together and
- 28:00Speaker 5: you say, do I like somebody? You know, those those
- 28:03Speaker 5: kind of things. But I always just go back to competition.
- 28:05Speaker 5: I think that's ultimately what it should always be about,
- 28:07Speaker 5: and what it is about.
- 28:08Speaker 2: They're trying to bring about the best or the worst
- 28:10Speaker 2: in people.
- 28:11Speaker 4: And I understand that line of thought too, Like you
- 28:13Speaker 4: know with veterans, you know, can you let them go
- 28:15Speaker 4: a little bit earlier, maybe give them a chance to snip.
- 28:18Speaker 4: But I mean it's I think they're all case by case,
- 28:21Speaker 4: and I think you're right, Like you drafted a long snapper,
- 28:23Speaker 4: so now you feel like you're comfortable enough to make
- 28:26Speaker 4: a move and just.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Pick it, like you know, off of what Fred laid
- 28:28Speaker 5: out with Joe Cardona coming to talk to us, and
- 28:30Speaker 5: you know that emotional like it's never easier time for
- 28:33Speaker 5: the player, like it's always going to stink. You just
- 28:35Speaker 5: have to do what's best for the team. I know
- 28:37Speaker 5: that's a cliche, but I do think that that's how
- 28:40Speaker 5: you have to run your football team. You have to
- 28:42Speaker 5: look at it without the emotion and you have to
- 28:43Speaker 5: say what is best for us, what guys are trending up?
- 28:46Speaker 5: You know which guys are going to fit what we want.
- 28:47Speaker 2: To do, and you can't like, yes, they are people,
- 28:51Speaker 2: but you there's also the business side of it. You
- 28:53Speaker 2: have to do what's best for the team. And you know,
- 28:56Speaker 2: I go ive been watching that Celtic City. I finished
- 28:59Speaker 2: that you haven't that last year and they interviewed Danny Ainge,
- 29:02Speaker 2: you know, several times throughout and at once, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 2: he's talking about his management style, and he's like, I
- 29:10Speaker 2: don't care. I don't care about the criticism. I don't
- 29:13Speaker 2: care what people think about the moves I make. I
- 29:15Speaker 2: don't care, you know, I just do what I think
- 29:19Speaker 2: is the best thing to do.
- 29:20Speaker 4: You know.
- 29:21Speaker 2: So he lived through when Red waited too long.
- 29:25Speaker 10: You know.
- 29:26Speaker 2: So a lot of people think with the Big Three,
- 29:29Speaker 2: he kind of left him on the team and didn't
- 29:32Speaker 2: use them to make the team younger and better.
- 29:35Speaker 11: And Danny Ainge was the opposite. He didn't want to
- 29:39Speaker 11: do that with the teams that he ran. Like he said,
- 29:44Speaker 11: I don't care.
- 29:45Speaker 5: I just don't know how you could do that job
- 29:47Speaker 5: if you're listening to what the people on talk radio
- 29:50Speaker 5: or what the scribes are writing, or you know you
- 29:52Speaker 5: I mean Bill for his faults, like no one was
- 29:56Speaker 5: better at this is what I'm doing. I believe this
- 29:58Speaker 5: is how we're going to make the team. And I
- 30:00Speaker 5: don't care what anybody else says, And I just I
- 30:03Speaker 5: think ultimately that's how you have to be if you're
- 30:05Speaker 5: trying to chase narratives or trying to make everybody happy.
- 30:09Speaker 5: It's a really hard job coaching any team. Like I mean,
- 30:11Speaker 5: we've we've been talking about it all morning with JV Sports,
- 30:14Speaker 5: But I mean, I have so much respect for coaches
- 30:17Speaker 5: of all. It's so hard to manage kids and manage people.
- 30:20Speaker 5: And unfortunately, when we sign up for this, you know,
- 30:23Speaker 5: this isn't forever, and it could end abruptly, whether it's
- 30:26Speaker 5: an injury, whether you get cut, you know, whatever it
- 30:29Speaker 5: might be, whether you get traded.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I remember in three when they get rid of Maloy,
- 30:33Speaker 2: I was like, you know, and that was a contract thing,
- 30:35Speaker 2: but I was like, what, you know, how can they
- 30:38Speaker 2: do that? And I happen to run into the owner
- 30:41Speaker 2: and I said I need a pep talk. I said, like, wow,
- 30:44Speaker 2: Fred did the peon? Said Pepton. He said to me,
- 30:47Speaker 2: don't worry. We're in this for the long run. And
- 30:50Speaker 2: then you go to Buffalo and you get waxed. Was
- 30:52Speaker 2: it thirty one nothing or whatever. I'm like, well, maybe
- 30:55Speaker 2: we're in there for the long run, but the short
- 30:57Speaker 2: one really sucks. But eventually it all played out and
- 31:02Speaker 2: the rest is history.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Such an interesting game in hindsight, it was so anti narrative.
- 31:05Speaker 5: It's like one of those games where all, of course.
- 31:07Speaker 4: That's it.
- 31:07Speaker 5: They're gonna fall apart, they're gonna stink, they're gonna be
- 31:09Speaker 5: terrible the whole time. And you know you saw that
- 31:11Speaker 5: team come together and rally.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yeah, hello, children, Hey, what's going on? They are the
- 31:18Speaker 2: gang's all here. You couldn't get in through that door.
- 31:25Speaker 4: No, no, and not in this door here. So that's
- 31:27Speaker 4: what I said, But I listened to.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Wait an you know there's a door here. No, that's
- 31:33Speaker 2: not the green room. The green room is the next door.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I thought.
- 31:36Speaker 12: Isabel's in a picture of both doors.
- 31:37Speaker 2: No, no, no, but just to show the relation, said.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Door did not just have to barge in, That's what
- 31:47Speaker 3: you're saying.
- 31:48Speaker 12: And then of course like the door was stuck.
- 31:49Speaker 3: So so where you guys come from Drake May's press
- 31:56Speaker 3: com and how did that go?
- 31:58Speaker 5: It went well.
- 31:58Speaker 3: It was uh, first time we've heard from him in
- 32:01Speaker 3: quite some time since all the changes happened and everything,
- 32:04Speaker 3: so it was it was good to hear from him.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I think he's really enjoying working with Josh McDaniels and
- 32:10Speaker 3: right now they're they're in the lab so to speak,
- 32:12Speaker 3: together putting together the playbook and going through the terminology,
- 32:17Speaker 3: and that was some of the things that he said
- 32:19Speaker 3: about just throwing out last year's terminology and absorbing this
- 32:25Speaker 3: year's terminology right now is is that's the biggest thing
- 32:29Speaker 3: they're working on, is getting all of the verbiage from
- 32:32Speaker 3: last year out and getting all this stuff in.
- 32:34Speaker 12: Yeah, he said he was super pumped about the free
- 32:36Speaker 12: agent additions too. Apparently had stuff on Digs on his
- 32:39Speaker 12: fantasy team when he was in high school, so he's
- 32:42Speaker 12: really excited to be able to actually throw to that
- 32:43Speaker 12: guy in real life and not just in Madden.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Fantasy.
- 32:48Speaker 3: That was a direct quote. He said that he used
- 32:51Speaker 3: to play with Stefan Diggs and Madden and now he
- 32:53Speaker 3: gets to play with them in real life. So he's
- 32:55Speaker 3: looking forward to that. And you know, very obviously excited
- 32:59Speaker 3: about Rabel too of course and what they're doing there.
- 33:02Speaker 3: But he said he watched Will Campbell, watched it live.
- 33:06Speaker 3: When Will Campbell said that he would die for his quarterback.
- 33:09Speaker 3: He was pretty pumped about that and said he wanted
- 33:12Speaker 3: to go out and play tomorrow. You know, right when
- 33:15Speaker 3: he heard that, he was like ready to go run
- 33:16Speaker 3: through a brick wall.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Basically what he tweeted, right yeah, did you did you.
- 33:20Speaker 5: See any physical differences in him? Did he look any different, bigger, smaller?
- 33:25Speaker 3: He's always pretty big guy.
- 33:27Speaker 12: So, yeah, he had a hoodie on.
- 33:29Speaker 4: He had a bad.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Shoulders kind of puffing all there's wanted to see something
- 33:35Speaker 5: added bulk to the frame.
- 33:36Speaker 3: There's some scuttle butt about that on the interwebs.
- 33:39Speaker 4: I wonder if that's why he was the hoodie.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Machine was such a well, we've posted some pictures you know,
- 33:45Speaker 3: behind you know, stuff behind the scenes from practice and
- 33:49Speaker 3: stuff like that.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Let's just assume that I hadn't seen those.
- 33:53Speaker 3: The fans think that he looks a little bit bulked up,
- 33:56Speaker 3: a little a little bit added some more chisel.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Good, you know.
- 34:00Speaker 4: So it would be a good thing. I think you
- 34:01Speaker 4: needs I don't know you need military. That's a good
- 34:07Speaker 4: that's a good sign. If for the girls, if in
- 34:10Speaker 4: fact true, would be a welcome edition. So we have
- 34:15Speaker 4: a jack lolane clinking.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So did he go for an extended period? Was it short?
- 34:22Speaker 3: It was a good amount. It was a good amount.
- 34:24Speaker 3: They're doing right now. It's like four days on, three
- 34:27Speaker 3: days off is like their current schedule. So today was
- 34:30Speaker 3: the fourth day. So they're all they're all headed out
- 34:33Speaker 3: for a couple of days off after today, so a
- 34:35Speaker 3: lot of media. It's a good amount of media. Yeah, yeah, the.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Off until Monday.
- 34:43Speaker 3: It's a perfect storm with that that sucks out of town.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah. And Drake May, like you May quarterback, if you're
- 34:52Speaker 4: covering the Patriots, you gotta get down here for an
- 34:55Speaker 4: interview with Drake May when you haven't heard from him
- 34:57Speaker 4: since it wasn't seventeen, it was not full for the
- 35:00Speaker 4: game a fight you didn't hear from a week eighteen. Yeah,
- 35:03Speaker 4: and you didn't hear from Hm after the season, so
- 35:05Speaker 4: it's been a while.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Anybody asked about Josh McDaniels or anything.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Like that, Yeah, Yeah, there was a there's a handful
- 35:12Speaker 3: of questions about Josh McDaniels. I mean, everything that has
- 35:15Speaker 3: gone on this offseason, he kind of had I'm pumped,
- 35:19Speaker 3: you know, I'm excited for all of it, you know,
- 35:21Speaker 3: sort of comments about it. But like I said earlier,
- 35:24Speaker 3: I think with Josh McDaniels, he's he seems like just
- 35:27Speaker 3: eager to just pick his brain and just to absorb
- 35:30Speaker 3: all the knowledge that McDaniels brings to the table. And
- 35:34Speaker 3: you mentioned, you know, everybody mentions Brady, but there's other
- 35:36Speaker 3: quarterbacks that McDaniels has worked with that have had success
- 35:40Speaker 3: and all that kind of stuff too, So he's right now.
- 35:43Speaker 3: I almost feel like he's a sponge, you know, he's
- 35:45Speaker 3: just trying.
- 35:46Speaker 2: To any tar heel talk.
- 35:49Speaker 3: No, all right, just wondering David Andrews question to ask
- 35:59Speaker 3: that Milton question. Yeah, I think those were probably, you know,
- 36:03Speaker 3: happy for the shows we'll focus on.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I'm interested in the Milton one.
- 36:09Speaker 5: I'm not really Andrews so happy for Joe getting an
- 36:12Speaker 5: opportunity there.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Yeah, basically he just said he's happy that, you know,
- 36:16Speaker 3: Joe's can be the best.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Can I just ask how the question was posed? I
- 36:21Speaker 4: want to see how fraudulent my colleagues.
- 36:23Speaker 12: Are, Hi, Drake, I'm just curious.
- 36:28Speaker 4: They're they're mean, said Drake.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Can I can I throw a little topic for discussion
- 36:37Speaker 5: out there? I talked a little bit with Paula at this,
- 36:39Speaker 5: but it feels like a good time to pick you
- 36:41Speaker 5: back on it. Do you feel like the Patriots have
- 36:44Speaker 5: done enough on offense that now it's less about Drake
- 36:48Speaker 5: doesn't have the protection of the weapons. Is a little
- 36:51Speaker 5: bit more pressure and focus now on Drake may to
- 36:54Speaker 5: take this team to the next level.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Yeah, he was asked a question like that that was
- 36:59Speaker 3: along those same lines like, do you feel.
- 37:01Speaker 12: Said it's kind of like for agency, we we just
- 37:03Speaker 12: plugged in hopefully we can play.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know, do you feel any added pressure
- 37:07Speaker 3: now that the team went out in the offseason and
- 37:10Speaker 3: really aggressively added a lot of talent to the roster
- 37:13Speaker 3: to do just that. I we're definitely in the territory
- 37:18Speaker 3: for me, this is my opinion that we're they should
- 37:21Speaker 3: at least be an NFL average offense or better. Right Like,
- 37:24Speaker 3: I don't think we're in the territory anymore where you
- 37:26Speaker 3: can sit here and say they're the thirtieth ranked offense
- 37:30Speaker 3: and here's all the excuses as to why, you know,
- 37:32Speaker 3: barring a bunch of injuries or something like that happened.
- 37:35Speaker 3: But for right now, I feel like, on paper, like
- 37:38Speaker 3: they should be a representable, you know, Mac Jones rookie
- 37:41Speaker 3: season esque NFL offense, and if they're not, then we're
- 37:45Speaker 3: gonna be asking.
- 37:46Speaker 2: How long do you give them? Do you give him
- 37:47Speaker 2: until October? You know? Wow?
- 37:50Speaker 4: Fred looking to make change.
- 37:54Speaker 2: In terms of saying, okay, yes, this offense is better.
- 37:57Speaker 2: How long do you give them.
- 37:58Speaker 5: I think, I mean I would say, I think, yeah,
- 38:00Speaker 5: six to eight games, I mean half a season. I
- 38:02Speaker 5: mean I think there could be some ups and downs
- 38:04Speaker 5: early in the season. Evan just said it. He's got
- 38:06Speaker 5: to learn all new Verbi. He's just a new offense.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I will be a little forgiving in September. I always
- 38:10Speaker 5: am of generally everything because it takes there's no hitting
- 38:13Speaker 5: in training camp anymore. Takes some time. But I think
- 38:16Speaker 5: as you get into October, when coaches like Bill Belichick
- 38:19Speaker 5: have traditionally told you you start to know what you have,
- 38:22Speaker 5: then the trends become the reality and not just one
- 38:25Speaker 5: offs or random games where it went sideways.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I mean, I'll.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Continue to say these two things till I'm blue in
- 38:32Speaker 5: the face. He's got to cut down the turnovers, and
- 38:34Speaker 5: he's got a show in crunch time when the games
- 38:37Speaker 5: is winnable that he can lead the team to the win.
- 38:39Speaker 5: And you know there might be ups and downs. It
- 38:41Speaker 5: won't be perfect, but I'd love to see those elements
- 38:43Speaker 5: this year.
- 38:43Speaker 2: David new Hampshire writes in he said, I was working
- 38:47Speaker 2: courtside during the Celtics game last week assisting a cameraman
- 38:50Speaker 2: just before tip off. In our rush to get off
- 38:52Speaker 2: the parque, I didn't notice two gentlemen taking their seats
- 38:55Speaker 2: in the front row, which causes the worst moment in
- 38:58Speaker 2: my professional career. I walked backwards directly into Robert Kraft. Mortified,
- 39:04Speaker 2: I take I take a quick step right into Mike Rabel.
- 39:07Speaker 2: All I could muster up was sorry Mike, as I
- 39:09Speaker 2: scurried back to my place behind the net. Of course,
- 39:12Speaker 2: they know how hectic the sideline could be, but the
- 39:14Speaker 2: rest of the night I just wanted to die of embarrassment. Anyway,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I love the first two picks, and they send along
- 39:19Speaker 2: another Sorry Mike.
- 39:21Speaker 12: Hey, if you stay on your feet after bumping into
- 39:23Speaker 12: Rabel and not getting knocked over that.
- 39:27Speaker 5: I have a chess protector on at the game.
- 39:28Speaker 3: So it's funny because we were at that game that
- 39:32Speaker 3: they were at, and as soon as Rabel and mister
- 39:35Speaker 3: Kraft walked in, I just went, Rabel's here, and my
- 39:39Speaker 3: dad was like what and I was like, yeah, he's
- 39:40Speaker 3: right there. And my dad was like, what do you
- 39:42Speaker 3: have like a radar on him or something?
- 39:44Speaker 5: And I was like yes, I was like my head
- 39:47Speaker 5: coach job, absolutely, did you do a zoom in tweet
- 39:53Speaker 5: Rabel in attendance tonight.
- 39:54Speaker 4: Yeah I did.
- 39:56Speaker 3: And then like everybody like had was also picking up
- 40:00Speaker 3: on it at the time. Obviously they showed him on
- 40:02Speaker 3: the SPS. They did him on them, They hold the
- 40:05Speaker 3: works jumbo tron. ESPN had on the works. They were
- 40:09Speaker 3: sitting right underneath the Road Team basket, like literally courtside,
- 40:13Speaker 3: right underneath the basket, so you couldn't miss it, like
- 40:16Speaker 3: when they were showing that angle like they were on
- 40:20Speaker 3: TV several times.
- 40:21Speaker 2: I'm sure yep. Back to the phones. Nate's in Connecticut.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Oh jeez, I hit the wrong button, Ate, Sorry, Nate,
- 40:30Speaker 2: damn it. No fingers, Yeah, sorry about that. This is
- 40:39Speaker 2: a little holdover from last show. This is Andrew. Can
- 40:42Speaker 2: we stop with the trashing on Sony Michelle and Malcolm Mitchell.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Although their careers weren't long and Sony didn't play long
- 40:48Speaker 2: for US, both players in their own had their own
- 40:52Speaker 2: Super Bowl played great the Super Bowl against the Rams.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Sony had ninety four yards rushing against Aaron Donald. Malcolm
- 40:59Speaker 2: Mitchell had six catches for seventy yards against the Falcons
- 41:02Speaker 2: of the Super Bowl, and five catches were in the
- 41:05Speaker 2: fourth quarter. What stopped the heat. Yes, they didn't last long,
- 41:08Speaker 2: but still contributed. I think you're misinterpreting what the talk
- 41:13Speaker 2: was about them. It wasn't like, oh, they weren't good.
- 41:16Speaker 2: It's just that you know injury risk, and you know,
- 41:19Speaker 2: you never know when someone's you know about somebody's career.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Yeah, well people maybe not so much publicly with Sony,
- 41:26Speaker 3: and we kind of found out after the fact with
- 41:28Speaker 3: Sony Michelle that his knee was a problem. But the
- 41:32Speaker 3: point I think we were trying to make was that
- 41:34Speaker 3: we knew going into the draft that these guys had
- 41:37Speaker 3: injury concerns and might have shorter shelf lifes, and that's
- 41:40Speaker 3: the way that it ultimately panned out for both of them.
- 41:43Speaker 3: So Sony Michelle was never the player he was at
- 41:46Speaker 3: Georgia with the Patriots. He never had the juice that
- 41:49Speaker 3: he had at Georgia here. I mean, he was a
- 41:52Speaker 3: much different player at Georgia than he was with the Patriots.
- 41:55Speaker 5: I feel like I understand the pick a little bit
- 41:57Speaker 5: better now. We had so much discussion in this draft
- 42:00Speaker 5: period about when can you draft a running back, Like
- 42:02Speaker 5: do you have to wait till your offensive line is great?
- 42:04Speaker 4: Do you know?
- 42:05Speaker 5: Are you is it too soon to draft him. And
- 42:08Speaker 5: I think that year they got into that point where
- 42:10Speaker 5: it's the end of the first and you see what
- 42:12Speaker 5: these teams now that are playoff teams that make deep
- 42:14Speaker 5: playoff runs. You sit there and you kind of say, well,
- 42:17Speaker 5: what's here? What makes sense? I mean, I know Michelle
- 42:19Speaker 5: had issues, but the you know, the emailer is right. Yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 5: he helped them win a super Bowl that year. I
- 42:25Speaker 5: think Paul would argue that anybody probably could have helped
- 42:27Speaker 5: them win a super Bowl.
- 42:28Speaker 3: But they lost Toon Lewis that offseason to the Titans,
- 42:31Speaker 3: and free agency to Rabel and free agency and and
- 42:35Speaker 3: so they didn't have a lead back and they needed
- 42:37Speaker 3: a lead back and at that time they didn't have
- 42:39Speaker 3: a ton of holes.
- 42:40Speaker 5: So, I mean, I love Malcolm Mitchell.
- 42:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:43Speaker 5: During COVID, me and Paul sat down and rewatched Super
- 42:45Speaker 5: Bowl fifty one with him, and he was just an
- 42:47Speaker 5: outstanding human being. I mean, it's just and that's just
- 42:50Speaker 5: a sad situation. You know, you take a risk on
- 42:52Speaker 5: a guy. Sometimes a guy has a back injury, you
- 42:54Speaker 5: take him in the second round and ends up being Gronk.
- 42:56Speaker 5: Sometimes they've got a knee injury in the third fourth round. Man,
- 42:59Speaker 5: you know they already yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 3: We really both those guys are better than dominic ees.
- 43:03Speaker 3: It was but yeah, that that was that was the
- 43:05Speaker 3: big thing with Malcolm Mitchell. I remember at the time,
- 43:08Speaker 3: everybody loved the pick because of the talent and he
- 43:11Speaker 3: was great and and everyone kind of knew that it
- 43:13Speaker 3: was going to be short lived. But to the emailer's point,
- 43:16Speaker 3: they got one Super Bowl out of him and he
- 43:18Speaker 3: was huge against Atlanta and.
- 43:20Speaker 13: That was it.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Yep, uh, Nate's in Connecticut. I hope I did it
- 43:23Speaker 2: right this time. What's up, Nate?
- 43:26Speaker 7: Hey, how are you guys?
- 43:28Speaker 3: And great?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Okay?
- 43:31Speaker 5: Thanks?
- 43:34Speaker 14: All right. So I was, you know, wondering about the draft,
- 43:38Speaker 14: but that do you think on Henderson was like the
- 43:41Speaker 14: best thing we could do in the situation?
- 43:44Speaker 2: Do we think Travion Henderson was what?
- 43:49Speaker 5: I'm sure that we'll look back and somebody will tell
- 43:51Speaker 5: me that some guy went six picks later that might
- 43:53Speaker 5: have made more sense. But as I sit here right now,
- 43:55Speaker 5: I'm going to tell you I think that that's an
- 43:57Speaker 5: outstanding pick. I think he's going to bring an element
- 43:59Speaker 5: of speed, explosiveness to this offense that they badly needed.
- 44:02Speaker 5: We can play the would have, could have, should have
- 44:05Speaker 5: game down the road a little bit. But as I
- 44:06Speaker 5: sit here right now, I think it's what I'm standing pick.
- 44:09Speaker 14: What do you think, Nate, I I honestly love the
- 44:12Speaker 14: pick and like I love Stevenson, but you know, over
- 44:16Speaker 14: the season, we saw issues continue to stack up, and
- 44:20Speaker 14: especially on the offense. And how you know already how
- 44:23Speaker 14: like bad it was that season, Like you can't have
- 44:26Speaker 14: a guy like that be carrying the ball two hundred
- 44:29Speaker 14: times a season. So you know, getting a guy like
- 44:31Speaker 14: raig On Henderson who carries the ball like one and
- 44:35Speaker 14: forty more times for over one thousand yards and like
- 44:37Speaker 14: had an average of seven point two yards per gary,
- 44:40Speaker 14: That's that's the guy who's going to open up more
- 44:43Speaker 14: opportunities on an offense, not even just in the run game,
- 44:46Speaker 14: but the past game as well.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah, some of them get seven point two yards to
- 44:50Speaker 2: carry in the NFL. But I get your point. Yeah, thanks, Nate.
- 44:53Speaker 12: I don't even watch film, but some of those like
- 44:55Speaker 12: blocking highlights he has was just blowing guys up. That
- 44:58Speaker 12: guy that even got me.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Throwing his body and yeah, you hear, like one of
- 45:03Speaker 3: the best blocking running backs I've ever evaluated. From people
- 45:06Speaker 3: in the league that have that have watched Trevon Henderson
- 45:09Speaker 3: pass protect and blitz, pick up and stuff like that.
- 45:11Speaker 3: So that's exciting in itself, even beyond the skill that
- 45:15Speaker 3: he has. But you know, I had him thirty second
- 45:18Speaker 3: on my big board. They picked him at thirty eight,
- 45:21Speaker 3: and so I thought it was pretty good value. And
- 45:24Speaker 3: to Mike's point, if Luther Burden goes on to be
- 45:27Speaker 3: a star in the league, that will be the second guess. Now,
- 45:30Speaker 3: hopefully even if Luther Burden's good, so is Trevion Henderson
- 45:33Speaker 3: And said it's a wash, right, But you know, if
- 45:36Speaker 3: it doesn't go that direction, then those will be the questions.
- 45:39Speaker 3: But it will irk me because we won't bring up
- 45:41Speaker 3: the context of why they passed on Luther Burden. But
- 45:44Speaker 3: that's besides the point.
- 45:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I so we went through the process.
- 45:48Speaker 5: We talked a lot about running backs and that you
- 45:49Speaker 5: need to draft a running back this year, and I
- 45:51Speaker 5: fell on the side of and I think you kind
- 45:53Speaker 5: of did two of three. Fine, yeah, you get a guy.
- 45:55Speaker 3: In third or fourth round.
- 45:56Speaker 4: Yeah, But now I've kind of.
- 45:58Speaker 5: Changed my mind a little bit, And you know, I
- 46:00Speaker 5: think Ramondre deserves every chance to get back out there
- 46:03Speaker 5: and show that, you know, he can hang on to
- 46:04Speaker 5: the ball. He's a really good player, and I hope
- 46:06Speaker 5: that he lives up to his you know, potential we
- 46:08Speaker 5: saw a couple of years ago. But I think they
- 46:10Speaker 5: need to have a b option or a young promising
- 46:14Speaker 5: back that if Romandre has some issues or look, everybody
- 46:17Speaker 5: gets hurt at that position anyway. I like Antonio Gibson,
- 46:21Speaker 5: He's fine, But to have a young charged back who's
- 46:24Speaker 5: ready to come in and contribute, it's just a great
- 46:26Speaker 5: down shift if something were to happen to romondre with it,
- 46:29Speaker 5: no matter what the issue were. So that room had
- 46:31Speaker 5: to be reinforced.
- 46:32Speaker 11: And I like that.
- 46:33Speaker 2: They went and plus the next pick with Kyle Williams,
- 46:36Speaker 2: so it's not like they're ignoring wide receiver. They picked
- 46:39Speaker 2: the dynamic wide receiver as well. So again, you got
- 46:43Speaker 2: a left tackle, you got a running back, you got
- 46:46Speaker 2: a wide receiver. Let's go.
- 46:49Speaker 5: I know, that's that's the that's just right, Like that's
- 46:51Speaker 5: like all right, let's start to come together.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Like and a similar player too, I would say with
- 46:56Speaker 3: Kyle Williams and Luther Burden, I think they're similar in
- 46:58Speaker 3: what they do well. And their strengths and weaknesses. There's
- 47:02Speaker 3: really only two guys that I look at and say,
- 47:04Speaker 3: you know, if you want to play the either or
- 47:07Speaker 3: game or would you rather game? Donovan Azaruku from Boston
- 47:11Speaker 3: College pass rusher, he went I think forty two or
- 47:14Speaker 3: something like that to Dallas. And then and then obviously Burden,
- 47:18Speaker 3: Like those are the two guys that I would say
- 47:20Speaker 3: were in the conversation to me at thirty eight, that
- 47:23Speaker 3: you could have put up against Trevon Henderson. But you know,
- 47:27Speaker 3: I understand the way they went with it. And you know,
- 47:29Speaker 3: to Mike's point about we were kind of more on
- 47:33Speaker 3: like mid round running backs, you know, third fourth round
- 47:36Speaker 3: running backs, it seemed like there was a clear demarcation
- 47:39Speaker 3: between the two Ohio State backs, RJ. Harvey from UCF
- 47:43Speaker 3: and then the rest of them, Like those guys were
- 47:46Speaker 3: kind of put into a category of like explosive, big
- 47:49Speaker 3: playbacks that the league had graded a little bit higher
- 47:52Speaker 3: than the Devin Nils and the Trevor Etns and like
- 47:55Speaker 3: that whole next wave that went in the fourth round.
- 47:58Speaker 3: So I can understand why they went where they they went.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I would have been fine either way, but they they
- 48:04Speaker 3: got a player properly rated player, just just.
- 48:07Speaker 5: To make a quick comp though, you know Luther Burdon,
- 48:09Speaker 5: we know he has some issues about people can't stop
- 48:13Speaker 5: talking about what a great guy Kyle Williams are, So
- 48:15Speaker 5: you know, it's just you see what the difference is.
- 48:17Speaker 5: I mean, Burnon has some boom er bust potential, but
- 48:20Speaker 5: you know, Williams won a lot of people over here,
- 48:22Speaker 5: not just in football when he visited. The coaches I've
- 48:25Speaker 5: talked to of all just raved about what an outstanding
- 48:28Speaker 5: young man he is. So you know that's where you're
- 48:30Speaker 5: willing to make your mistake if you know, look, we're
- 48:32Speaker 5: going to make our mistake on Let's go with the
- 48:34Speaker 5: guy that everybody really likes his personality and he.
- 48:36Speaker 3: Can play on the outside, which I think is something
- 48:38Speaker 3: that excites me from a football standpoint. But Burden with
- 48:42Speaker 3: Jalen Nole really talented players and I'm not trying to
- 48:45Speaker 3: do that thing where well, now this guy's a Patriots,
- 48:47Speaker 3: so I'm going to trash the other guys. But those
- 48:49Speaker 3: other guys are viewed as you know, guys that are
- 48:51Speaker 3: going to play like seventy five eighty percent of their
- 48:53Speaker 3: snaps in the slot, like going to be pure slot receivers,
- 48:56Speaker 3: whereas I think, you know, because of his releases, they
- 49:00Speaker 3: are optimistic that Kyle Williams can play more on the outside,
- 49:03Speaker 3: so he's a little bit more of a versatile receiver
- 49:06Speaker 3: than Burden and no Lar.
- 49:08Speaker 12: Yeah, just to piggyback off your point Mike about like,
- 49:11Speaker 12: I don't know how much of the posts draft press
- 49:13Speaker 12: conferences you guys heard from each guy, but like the
- 49:16Speaker 12: common theme I kept thinking about was like, these guys
- 49:20Speaker 12: are really attent, like really really intelligent. These guys are
- 49:23Speaker 12: really well spoken. These guys all seem like really like
- 49:25Speaker 12: high character, great teammate leaders. And just every year we've
- 49:30Speaker 12: had like a couple of those guys that really gave
- 49:32Speaker 12: me pause, and I was like, wow, this is I'm
- 49:34Speaker 12: really looking forward to talking to this guy. And this
- 49:36Speaker 12: year it was every single one right after another.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. I didn't get to hear Kyle Williams.
- 49:41Speaker 5: I think there was some audio difficulty, but I read
- 49:44Speaker 5: the transcripts of everybody and yeah, I mean it's I agree.
- 49:47Speaker 5: I agree.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Yep. Gerald In Grimsby writes in we're talking about Tim
- 49:51Speaker 2: Tebow coming to the Patriots, He says, is it possible
- 49:54Speaker 2: that the Patriots brought Tebow in to be an influence
- 49:56Speaker 2: or babysit at certain tight end he played college ball with.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Did that coincide?
- 50:02Speaker 4: Shoot?
- 50:03Speaker 3: It probably did, but I was definitely not covering the
- 50:08Speaker 3: team back then, So I have no idea.
- 50:11Speaker 5: I got it. I gotta look that one up. I
- 50:13Speaker 5: gotta look that one up because it Yeah, it doesn't
- 50:14Speaker 5: really line up to me. I know Josh came back
- 50:17Speaker 5: at the end of eleven for the playoff run, right,
- 50:20Speaker 5: but didn't they hurt it? I mean, well, I think
- 50:21Speaker 5: it might have been. Yeah, it might have been twelve
- 50:23Speaker 5: Tebo was Tim Tebow twelve?
- 50:25Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 50:26Speaker 5: And then I think, yeah, it might be.
- 50:29Speaker 2: He also says, am I wrong to be still holding
- 50:31Speaker 2: out hope that Cayden Wallace can be a right tackle?
- 50:33Speaker 15: No?
- 50:35Speaker 5: You're not at all. I mean that's and that's something
- 50:36Speaker 5: I've been saying.
- 50:37Speaker 2: I don't.
- 50:37Speaker 5: I think we're wrong to write him off last year.
- 50:40Speaker 5: I mean last year he was put into the wrong box.
- 50:43Speaker 5: Everyone put him is like, oh, this is a right
- 50:45Speaker 5: this is a right tackle they're going to try to
- 50:46Speaker 5: make into a left tackle, and it didn't work. Like
- 50:49Speaker 5: he was just a really promising right tackle prospect.
- 50:51Speaker 4: That's what he was.
- 50:52Speaker 5: So give him an off season, let him get healthy.
- 50:55Speaker 5: I could see a perfect world where he's the swing
- 50:57Speaker 5: tackle in back of Morgan Moses and maybe eventually, you know,
- 51:00Speaker 5: could succeed him. So I like that email. Don't rule
- 51:02Speaker 5: him out.
- 51:03Speaker 3: I would we did. He didn't play, so yeah, we
- 51:06Speaker 3: you know he was. He was out hurt for the
- 51:08Speaker 3: vast majority of the season. So you know, I understand
- 51:11Speaker 3: being a little bit lower right now on Polk and
- 51:13Speaker 3: Baker because we they had opportunity to play and just
- 51:16Speaker 3: didn't do much with it. With Caen Wallace, that's a
- 51:18Speaker 3: he's a total unknown right now. He's a mystery box.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Uh.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Kamel from Georgia. He has three things. One, how are
- 51:26Speaker 2: we feeling about Kyle Dugar being the longest tenured Patriot
- 51:28Speaker 2: right now?
- 51:29Speaker 3: It's crazy?
- 51:30Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting younger.
- 51:32Speaker 12: Do you guys talk about Cardonia yet?
- 51:35Speaker 2: What did you think you were there?
- 51:38Speaker 12: Did you discuss the meeting?
- 51:39Speaker 7: Oh?
- 51:40Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, I mean I always really like Joe. He's
- 51:43Speaker 12: always been I think, really good to us. One quick story. Obviously,
- 51:49Speaker 12: my first couple of seasons here, Bill was still here
- 51:52Speaker 12: and like we're kind of trud like second class citizens. Right.
- 51:55Speaker 12: But uh, I got the opportunity to go with Hoyer
- 51:57Speaker 12: and Cardona to the country Club in Brooklyn when the
- 52:00Speaker 12: US Open was here, and they got to play the course,
- 52:02Speaker 12: and that was my first time really getting to know
- 52:05Speaker 12: both of those guys. But over the course of eighteen
- 52:08Speaker 12: holes and just hanging out with them, they were so cool.
- 52:10Speaker 12: They didn't at all treat me like a second class citizen.
- 52:14Speaker 12: Joe let me play an entire hole with his clubs
- 52:17Speaker 12: on the country club. I had a good drive, even
- 52:22Speaker 12: though it was way longer than I'm used to, but
- 52:26Speaker 12: like I would never have the opportunity to sniff that
- 52:29Speaker 12: golf course, never mind play a hole, So that was
- 52:31Speaker 12: really cool to me. I really always appreciated that. And
- 52:33Speaker 12: then ever since, he's always been an awesome quote for me,
- 52:37Speaker 12: always in the community. I feel like I was always
- 52:39Speaker 12: going to Like I was just in Newport with him
- 52:41Speaker 12: last week, went to the FBI with him. Had a
- 52:44Speaker 12: lot of cool opportunities because Cardona was doing something in
- 52:48Speaker 12: the community. So I really appreciate him.
- 52:50Speaker 2: The second thing from Kamal, do you think Joe Cordona
- 52:53Speaker 2: can get into the Patriots Hall of Fame? I think
- 52:55Speaker 2: he does. I don't. Unfortunately now listen, Joe's a great guy,
- 53:01Speaker 2: but you know.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Me, I I can't even get Wes Welker on the battle.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Yeah, no disrespect, but yeah, right exactly.
- 53:11Speaker 5: But I think with the amount of things that we
- 53:13Speaker 5: do partnering with the military, I think he should still
- 53:15Speaker 5: be around and still be a lot of part of
- 53:17Speaker 5: those things we had the Army Navy game last year, Yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 5: involving him in those kind of things, and I think
- 53:22Speaker 5: she should always be a connection for this organization.
- 53:24Speaker 11: And then finally, now with Trevion Henderson on the roster,
- 53:27Speaker 11: do we think this will make Antonio Gibson the receiving back.
- 53:31Speaker 5: I just I don't think that there is that anymore.
- 53:33Speaker 5: I think that their new vision of what they want.
- 53:35Speaker 5: I could be wrong because Josh is back and maybe
- 53:36Speaker 5: he still sees likes that delineation of early down passing down,
- 53:41Speaker 5: but the way they played last year, the way the
- 53:43Speaker 5: game is headed, I think they like all three of
- 53:45Speaker 5: those guys to play every down, and it's certainly different styles.
- 53:49Speaker 5: Maybe Gibson and Henderson are a little bit more similar
- 53:51Speaker 5: in that respect, but I don't think it's going to
- 53:53Speaker 5: be delineated like that this year.
- 53:55Speaker 4: I think I think Henderson is that guy. I think
- 53:57Speaker 4: Henderson is like James White. I think he can run
- 54:00Speaker 4: between the tackles, maybe more than the Patriots use James
- 54:03Speaker 4: White in Matt regard, but I think he's an exceptional
- 54:06Speaker 4: receiver and explosive on the outside in space. I'd expect
- 54:10Speaker 4: him to run. RD talked a lot to his running
- 54:13Speaker 4: backs coach, and he said, he's absolutely a guy you
- 54:16Speaker 4: can line up outside the formation, find a matchup, and
- 54:19Speaker 4: he runs routes. He's not just catching little swing passes
- 54:22Speaker 4: and screens. He can run routes. So I think that's
- 54:24Speaker 4: what James White's special ability was. He could get out
- 54:28Speaker 4: in space and you know, run a seven yard slant
- 54:31Speaker 4: or you know, a double move on a wheel route
- 54:34Speaker 4: or something that wasn't just you know, a little swing passes.
- 54:36Speaker 5: Maybe some pony package, ye, a little pony get to
- 54:39Speaker 5: get the two rbs out there. I mean, Gibson was
- 54:41Speaker 5: a receiver in college, so you know, maybe there's something
- 54:45Speaker 5: there where we've got you know, two really good receiving backs.
- 54:48Speaker 5: You know he tried. I mean, it's so interesting to
- 54:51Speaker 5: see the past protection thing that's been praised because that's
- 54:54Speaker 5: often been a roadblock for rookies getting on the field
- 54:57Speaker 5: at this position. So is Henderson really that good? Do
- 54:59Speaker 5: they trust?
- 55:00Speaker 4: It's immediately I had a chance to sit down and
- 55:03Speaker 4: talk to Carlos Lachlan, the running backs coach Ohio.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Still and what did he have to say.
- 55:06Speaker 4: He said, he absolutely can run those roches, like you said.
- 55:10Speaker 2: While you were gonefall, we had an emailer who wondered
- 55:14Speaker 2: if the reason they brought Tebo when was the kind
- 55:16Speaker 2: of babysit a certain time?
- 55:17Speaker 5: So I think it was thirteen after.
- 55:21Speaker 4: I don't remember the years, but I do like the thought. Yeah,
- 55:25Speaker 4: I don't remember if the you know, I got to
- 55:27Speaker 4: look at the timetable to see.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Camp twenty thirteen, I think.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Already already, like they.
- 55:34Speaker 12: All knew Hernandez in that mentality. Do you think like
- 55:38Speaker 12: they thought he would give a crop about Tim Tebow?
- 55:41Speaker 2: Well, according to the doc that I watched on I
- 55:44Speaker 2: think it was netflix that. I mean, Tibo was actually
- 55:48Speaker 2: a positive influence on him while he was in Florida.
- 55:50Speaker 12: In Florida together, that was my next question, Yeah.
- 55:52Speaker 2: A little bit, like he helped him. It did help.
- 55:54Speaker 3: He was like his that Urban Meyer Florida team, like
- 55:58Speaker 3: the Big two time National Cham.
- 56:01Speaker 2: I mean he actually had him going to church for
- 56:04Speaker 2: a little bit. Okay, yeah, if you're gonna believe it,
- 56:10Speaker 2: Sean writes in Uh, he says, I'm going to be
- 56:12Speaker 2: relocating to the Winston Salem, North Carolina area later this month,
- 56:16Speaker 2: and do you all know if they have any Patriots
- 56:18Speaker 2: bars or groups down in that area. It's a good
- 56:20Speaker 2: opportunity for me to plug the Patriots fan club Registry.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Sean.
- 56:26Speaker 2: If you go to Patriots dot com, go into the
- 56:28Speaker 2: fan zone on Patriots dot com, you'll see a link

- 56:38Speaker 2: fan clubs in the area and bars that they go to.
- 56:41Speaker 2: I know there is a big North Carolina fan It's
- 56:46Speaker 2: run by a guy named Todd.
- 56:49Speaker 5: I don't know who runs that one.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a big guy. But they when they have
- 56:53Speaker 2: watch parties, they they'll bring in Patriots alumni and uh,
- 56:58Speaker 2: they do a really good job there. They raise money
- 57:00Speaker 2: for the Patriots Foundation. I'm not sure how close they
- 57:03Speaker 2: are to win some Salem. I think they are. I
- 57:06Speaker 2: think they are.
- 57:06Speaker 5: I think they are.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Yeah, because when we go to the games down there.
- 57:09Speaker 2: They weren't too far from where we stayed, and we
- 57:11Speaker 2: stayed close to So just go to the fan club
- 57:15Speaker 2: registry type in North Carolina and you'll have all that information.
- 57:19Speaker 2: And anyone else anywhere in the world you can do
- 57:22Speaker 2: the same thing. So go to Patriots dot com fan

- 57:30Speaker 2: If you want to look for a bar that's showing
- 57:32Speaker 2: the game, you can use it for that. It's a
- 57:35Speaker 2: pretty cool tool.
- 57:39Speaker 5: I mean, I was more flashing back to when I
- 57:40Speaker 5: was a fan going to Seattle and it's like at
- 57:42Speaker 5: the bar party with you guys.
- 57:44Speaker 2: My god, there's free curse you know were he was
- 57:48Speaker 2: under the table.

- 59:48Speaker 16: And I'll like to hopefully call myself this year leader
- 59:51Speaker 16: and I think working towards that. I think just earning
- 59:52Speaker 16: the guys respect a lot of the new faces in here,
- 59:55Speaker 16: you know, come in here and work hard, and you know,
- 59:57Speaker 16: show those guys that we picked up in free agency,
- 59:58Speaker 16: or the rookies or guys we picked up just kind
- 1:00:01Speaker 16: of my work, I think. I think kind of you know,
- 1:00:03Speaker 16: start out from that standpoint and show the coaches. I
- 1:00:05Speaker 16: think once you get you know, new staff and new players,
- 1:00:07Speaker 16: you want to show them, Hey, it's not relaxed time.
- 1:00:10Speaker 16: I think, you know, want some You're gonna be the starter.
- 1:00:12Speaker 16: Just you know, keep things, you know, pushing forward and
- 1:00:14Speaker 16: where saying more than you know and whether and walk
- 1:00:16Speaker 16: through or a little things like that. Just kind of
- 1:00:18Speaker 16: kind of build that and not focused too much on it.
- 1:00:20Speaker 16: Just hopefully kind of hopefully it comes natural.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Great.
- 1:00:22Speaker 17: If you mentioned the guys that you had a free
- 1:00:24Speaker 17: agency offseason, rookies, what do you think about the off season.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: General plast team.
- 1:00:28Speaker 16: Yeah, I think I'm pumped. I think you know, a
- 1:00:30Speaker 16: lot of new faces, a lot of guys, a lot
- 1:00:31Speaker 16: of veterans that played at a high level. I think,
- 1:00:34Speaker 16: you know, we we we we kind of find answers
- 1:00:36Speaker 16: a lot of different spot that hopefully can can plug
- 1:00:38Speaker 16: and play. And I think that's what. You know, the
- 1:00:39Speaker 16: point of free agency is, I think, get guys that
- 1:00:40Speaker 16: come in here and help us win, help us win now.
- 1:00:43Speaker 16: And I think you had that it was some young
- 1:00:45Speaker 16: talent that we've had in the past, you know, a
- 1:00:46Speaker 16: couple of drafts, and I think hopefully we're head in
- 1:00:48Speaker 16: the right direction. So I think that's what. You know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 16: it's guys in there working towards I'm working towards kind
- 1:00:52Speaker 16: of kind of get to know each other, you know,
- 1:00:53Speaker 16: connect That's what because we're able to you know, kind
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: of preaching is you know, kind of learn it and
- 1:00:59Speaker 16: training and connecting. And I think it's it's it's been
- 1:01:01Speaker 16: fun to kind of get these know these guys and
- 1:01:02Speaker 16: getting those guys.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: It's been a bunch of different places.
- 1:01:05Speaker 16: So it's it's been cool you look at.
- 1:01:07Speaker 17: Ahead, but have you taken time to look bad some
- 1:01:10Speaker 17: time and space since the end of the season. What
- 1:01:14Speaker 17: you would like to improve on, Things you want to
- 1:01:15Speaker 17: take away and build on going into the spring.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: Yeah, understand.
- 1:01:19Speaker 16: I think you go back and you see you know,
- 1:01:21Speaker 16: obviously negative plays or you know, sacks or you know, turnovers.
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: I think there's always in ways to improve and protecting football.
- 1:01:27Speaker 16: You appreciate protecting the football. You got to you know,
- 1:01:29Speaker 16: turnovers in this league are no good. They don't result
- 1:01:31Speaker 16: the wins in this league. So you know, finally protect
- 1:01:34Speaker 16: the football. You'll find them ways to Hey it's you know,
- 1:01:37Speaker 16: third downmarn and field goal range. They don't take a sack,
- 1:01:39Speaker 16: a little things like that. I think you can always learn,
- 1:01:41Speaker 16: you know, especially and also protection wise, you'll protect myself
- 1:01:44Speaker 16: and you know, you know it's gonna be nucles McDaniel's
- 1:01:47Speaker 16: you know, kind of just different different protection scheme, different stuff.
- 1:01:51Speaker 16: So just find them ways to you know, learn in
- 1:01:53Speaker 16: and outs and just like I said, get the guys,
- 1:01:55Speaker 16: you know, going on to the right page, Drake, what do.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: You like you mentioned the protection scheme it seems like
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: a lot of the quarterback pre snap.
- 1:02:02Speaker 18: Mean, what do you like about how to any troubles there?
- 1:02:04Speaker 16: Yeah, I think the balls in my hands. I think
- 1:02:06Speaker 16: if you want that, I think you know, I hold
- 1:02:07Speaker 16: the pen last. That's what you know, they say, And
- 1:02:09Speaker 16: I think that's what you want because I can. I
- 1:02:11Speaker 16: got the best view back there. Maybe the running back
- 1:02:13Speaker 16: you know es fetching the gun, but even under center,
- 1:02:15Speaker 16: you've got the best view of the defense.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: And you're the ones that you have to know.
- 1:02:18Speaker 16: Where eybody's at, know what you know, really what everybody's doing,
- 1:02:20Speaker 16: or you know some point exactly maybe the technique exactly upfront,
- 1:02:23Speaker 16: but you got a good idea of you know, what
- 1:02:25Speaker 16: they're supposed to do. I think know it's it's it's
- 1:02:28Speaker 16: great for me to you know, hold the pen last,
- 1:02:29Speaker 16: like I said, and make Hey, if I may see
- 1:02:31Speaker 16: a week safety coming and the center may not be
- 1:02:33Speaker 16: able to see that, or you know, the coach may
- 1:02:35Speaker 16: not see it from the sideline, little things like that,
- 1:02:37Speaker 16: I think it's be great for me to You'll take
- 1:02:39Speaker 16: that next step and you know, taking command of you'll
- 1:02:41Speaker 16: sending the guys up front where to go, and you
- 1:02:43Speaker 16: know who the block, So I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: I've heard from some of your teammates that were the
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: last completes about music in the Halloways, Mike Rabol calling
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: on guys, kind of cold calling at eatings. How would
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: you describe the vibe very early of Mike Rabel's football program.
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: Yeah, I think it's coming here and and you have
- 1:03:00Speaker 16: your head on the sold we'll get to work. I
- 1:03:01Speaker 16: think that's kind of, you know, the vibe I've caught.
- 1:03:04Speaker 16: I think there's no you spend time outside of when
- 1:03:06Speaker 16: we're in the building. You know, Phase one just finished,
- 1:03:08Speaker 16: first week of Phase two and we're here for four hours.
- 1:03:10Speaker 16: So I think it's kind of really figuring out with
- 1:03:13Speaker 16: the new coaches. You know, who's learning, who's spending time
- 1:03:15Speaker 16: outside of you know here of learning it, and who
- 1:03:17Speaker 16: wants to help us win when when the season comes.
- 1:03:20Speaker 16: And I think that's what they want. They want to
- 1:03:22Speaker 16: get the guys, get the right guys in here who
- 1:03:24Speaker 16: want to win and know the answers when your cold
- 1:03:26Speaker 16: call them and who knows you know, he has energy
- 1:03:30Speaker 16: in the hallways. I think they can kind of differentiate
- 1:03:31Speaker 16: between the guys who kind of know when to have
- 1:03:33Speaker 16: fun and know when to, you know, put their head
- 1:03:35Speaker 16: down and you'll have you know, get things right.
- 1:03:36Speaker 9: And before added he at this level of investors and
- 1:03:40Speaker 9: teams being on the opposive side of the tall, is.
- 1:03:42Speaker 19: There already added the pressure on you.
- 1:03:45Speaker 16: I think you know, there's there's there's there's enough pressure
- 1:03:47Speaker 16: playing this position in this league. I think you take
- 1:03:49Speaker 16: it as there's you guys around you that that I
- 1:03:53Speaker 16: want to make plays and and it can make plays
- 1:03:55Speaker 16: for you. So I don't think there's any out of pressure.
- 1:03:57Speaker 16: I think, uh, I think it's a national poll league.
- 1:04:00Speaker 16: So every week you got to bring it. And I
- 1:04:02Speaker 16: think you know, if if there is had a pressure,
- 1:04:03Speaker 16: I think you want it. You want to you know,
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: ball in my hands and win, you know, crunch down.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: What's it like working the stuff on taps ship.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: I was excited, were you when they signed to him?
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: And you know what that shoot?
- 1:04:14Speaker 16: You know Stefan, I mean he's one of those guys
- 1:04:16Speaker 16: growing up and when I was in high school, he
- 1:04:18Speaker 16: was a young you know, young in the league and
- 1:04:20Speaker 16: you had my fantasy team and you know, things like that.
- 1:04:23Speaker 16: So playing with him at Madden so it's it's pretty
- 1:04:25Speaker 16: cool to hopefully, you know, now this season been throwing
- 1:04:27Speaker 16: to him. He's coming back obviously from injury and looks
- 1:04:30Speaker 16: like he's doing great. He's been around, and I think
- 1:04:33Speaker 16: it's just it's gonna be cool to throw a you know,
- 1:04:36Speaker 16: receiver like who's made plays like he has. There's made
- 1:04:37Speaker 16: big players in playoff games, who's uh been in a
- 1:04:40Speaker 16: lot of different schemes, who's played with high little quarterbacks
- 1:04:42Speaker 16: to see kind of his point your point of view
- 1:04:44Speaker 16: from different stuff, and just it's my job to give
- 1:04:47Speaker 16: him a chance to go get it.
- 1:04:48Speaker 15: So curious, Well, first off, I want to take a
- 1:04:51Speaker 15: congratulationship on your tea.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Thank you, But you know I was.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Cherious you are some o Sea, so should get to
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: see if he's like expressed a lot of name and
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: chief on being him.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Chan I'm just say maybe it's slower than the season.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: Have you talked from Susau Sason?
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: What are you seeing from them or just what are
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: you accepting from them?
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:05:08Speaker 16: I think you know, those guys that came in from
- 1:05:10Speaker 16: you know, came in with me, They were drafted with me,
- 1:05:11Speaker 16: and you know we took it upon ourselves at rookies
- 1:05:14Speaker 16: to hopefully kind of set up a good standard and
- 1:05:17Speaker 16: I think I think I've seen from them is just
- 1:05:20Speaker 16: kind of learning a new offense. I think they're they're
- 1:05:22Speaker 16: ahead of where they were, you know, when we were
- 1:05:23Speaker 16: in the first couple of weeks last year learning the
- 1:05:25Speaker 16: new offense. So I think they kind of have caught
- 1:05:27Speaker 16: the stride up. Hey, I gotta you know, be all
- 1:05:28Speaker 16: my stuff, No, be in the right spot, you know
- 1:05:30Speaker 16: what to do, And that's just you know, half of
- 1:05:32Speaker 16: it making the plays the next part. So I think
- 1:05:33Speaker 16: you definitely, you know, seeing kind of a get up
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: from them and looking forward to you know, getting them
- 1:05:38Speaker 16: into camping and see what they could do.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Dren curiously, this saw season putting the offense together, you know, Josh,
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: obviously it's guys used to lead in the charge of that.
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: But has he asked you about things that you like,
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: like you feel like you have any influence over how
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: that will come together? Interest your life systems.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: And now great moments.
- 1:05:57Speaker 16: Like you know, stuff I like from last year that
- 1:05:59Speaker 16: we ran, stuff that I like that they do, that
- 1:06:02Speaker 16: that I've seen on film. I think he'll be I
- 1:06:05Speaker 16: think it'd be good for us because we'll be able
- 1:06:06Speaker 16: to do a lot. I think it'll be challenging to
- 1:06:07Speaker 16: find out exactly what you know, what is going to
- 1:06:10Speaker 16: be kind of our stuff, and I think, uh, that's
- 1:06:12Speaker 16: the fun part of it. That's kind of the chest
- 1:06:14Speaker 16: match against coordinators that you you want to find, but
- 1:06:16Speaker 16: coach is great about you'll find the matchups and kind
- 1:06:18Speaker 16: of exploiting defenses when you may know what what to expect.
- 1:06:22Speaker 16: So I think I'm just looking forward to, you know,
- 1:06:24Speaker 16: starting the game plan. I know that's far away, but
- 1:06:26Speaker 16: I think you kind of get the edged now thought partner. Yeah, David, Uh,
- 1:06:31Speaker 16: you know, man, I think kind of you know the
- 1:06:34Speaker 16: me think of you know, a veteran and you know,
- 1:06:37Speaker 16: a leader. I think that's kind of the standard I
- 1:06:38Speaker 16: learned from from David Andrews. He was great to me.
- 1:06:41Speaker 16: He was you know, one of the first we met
- 1:06:43Speaker 16: in the locker room. He was here every more early
- 1:06:44Speaker 16: in the morning.
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: He was uh yeah.
- 1:06:48Speaker 16: I think just think about David is he did things
- 1:06:51Speaker 16: outside and you know, took me to dinner and you
- 1:06:54Speaker 16: paid for you know, massage from one of the ladies.
- 1:06:55Speaker 16: He just does things that you know, bigger than football,
- 1:06:57Speaker 16: and I think that's you know, stuff you care with
- 1:06:59Speaker 16: the rest of your career, you know, wishing the best
- 1:07:01Speaker 16: of him, and you know, one of those guys out
- 1:07:03Speaker 16: keep in touch with a long time. I think, uh,
- 1:07:05Speaker 16: you know, he had never you know, I think I
- 1:07:06Speaker 16: took a couple of snapps them that end of the
- 1:07:08Speaker 16: Jets games. But you know that next game he obviously
- 1:07:10Speaker 16: got hurt. So he's a bummer out to really get
- 1:07:13Speaker 16: to go out there and battle with them. But uh,
- 1:07:15Speaker 16: he's the Nationaltball League and these things happened.
- 1:07:17Speaker 9: Great.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: The year goes by so quick.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: You went right from the put into the draft and
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: all the things that went with the drafts to here
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: to play.
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: How did you use the offseason mentally? You can kind
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: of get down a little bit and then.
- 1:07:29Speaker 16: Yeah, I think it's it was a little different because
- 1:07:31Speaker 16: you got to learn a new system, so you have
- 1:07:32Speaker 16: to take a break maybe, you know, through the Super Bowl,
- 1:07:35Speaker 16: and once it got kind of you know, kicked, you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 16: got got ended. One super Bowl ended, you're kind of
- 1:07:40Speaker 16: back into hey to be all my stuff. So when
- 1:07:41Speaker 16: we get here, you know, at least I sound like
- 1:07:43Speaker 16: I know what I'm talking about with the offense, and
- 1:07:45Speaker 16: I think you definitely gonn take a break, And I
- 1:07:47Speaker 16: think that's what you know. This four days are on
- 1:07:49Speaker 16: three days off, you get to get a chance to
- 1:07:51Speaker 16: you know, hang out or go back home or receive
- 1:07:53Speaker 16: from people. I think that's one of the good things
- 1:07:55Speaker 16: about the off season, to get a chance to kind
- 1:07:56Speaker 16: of catch a break and then you know, four days
- 1:07:58Speaker 16: on or five days however, want how much you want
- 1:08:00Speaker 16: to work. So I think that's a good time for
- 1:08:03Speaker 16: me to take some time off. But also at the
- 1:08:05Speaker 16: same time, this is just what we do. This is
- 1:08:07Speaker 16: what you know I want to do.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: So God us the trade this offseason.
- 1:08:13Speaker 16: Your reaction, Yeah, texted Joe. You know, me and Joe,
- 1:08:16Speaker 16: we came in together. We learned the offense together. We
- 1:08:19Speaker 16: were competing every day to sleep out, throw each other
- 1:08:21Speaker 16: and and practice. And obviously he's got a you know,
- 1:08:23Speaker 16: a big arm, so uh, it was it was cool
- 1:08:25Speaker 16: for him to you know, get a chance to you'll
- 1:08:27Speaker 16: go hopefully and be back up. And I think you
- 1:08:29Speaker 16: saw him the Bills game, his potential and I think, uh,
- 1:08:32Speaker 16: he's fun because we got kind of similar play styles
- 1:08:34Speaker 16: a little bit, and it was fun relating to our
- 1:08:37Speaker 16: similar college offense to this offense, and it was cool
- 1:08:40Speaker 16: to kind of be in the room and have somebody
- 1:08:41Speaker 16: to bounced off ideas or hey, you remember doing this
- 1:08:43Speaker 16: in college and and stuff like that, so you'll pull
- 1:08:46Speaker 16: up for Joe, and you know, I know, probably you
- 1:08:48Speaker 16: never know what to play him again or see him
- 1:08:50Speaker 16: down the road.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: So thank you. Go back.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: History.
- 1:09:02Speaker 11: All you have to do is say the following four
- 1:09:04Speaker 11: words in quick succession whale oil, beef hooked, well.
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: Or.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Yeah, saying in quick succession, will be ft?
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: Oh, well, well we'll all be will all be ft hooked?
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Whale oil.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: He's trying to get you to say, will all be
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: f oh?
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: We we will all be ft hooked?
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: How does hook become f all be hooked?
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Hooked?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: I get it?
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: All beef?
- 1:09:35Speaker 14: Thank you?
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Oh I get it. I thought it'll all be f.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: I thought it was b Now I know it's beef.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: And then you used to with h I apologize him.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it.
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: I get it. No, because I was with him, I
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: was with Fred, I didn't know what you were talking
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: about him.
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: Well, beef hooked.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: Dreaming of next season. Revan up your sleep routine before

- 1:10:34Speaker 11: really do. I say tough tough copy. Tough copy.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Clearly, do not read the copy aloud as they just words.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Somehow, you don't seem to get as angry as Eric
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: used to in virtually every one of those great moments
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: in PU history. Oh yeah, the anger that comes out
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: right away. He's trying to get you to say right
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: and me and Fredick just said, I don't get it's
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: not a good thing. I missed it. Yeah, okay, I
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: see what you're saying, but I missed it. I apologize.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Well, whenever it came to you know, alliteration or diction
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: or anything like that, you know, there was no one
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: in the room better than the great Eric Scalamino.
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: The angry Eric's angry Eric.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: There was nothing is going to happen right.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Some time, he stormed out and I had to go
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: go retrieve him, bring him back in.
- 1:11:33Speaker 12: Was that only once or didn't happen a couple of times?
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Well, he threatened to leave many times, but he actually
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: only left once.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, he definitely threaten after you threw the witch
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: you MC call it at him, like came out of
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: your office.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Threw it at him.
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but he would get very very impatient with me.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I'm just trying to hook him up with a girl.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Nothing is gonna have this platform, you know, and here
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: you are. It's better than any dating app. You're like,
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: you know, make sure that people know that you're open
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: for business.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: Right all.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: I mean yes, Like I gotta be honest. So like
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: I just I thought Eric was a really funny, really
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: good guy. And that's like there's got to be a
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: wonderful nice woman out there for him. Like I just
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: I never quite got it. I thought Eric was hilarious.
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: I mean, he's one of the funniest people I've known.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: I mean, his impressions were legendary.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Think about Eric, is he wants to be in that
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: mentor mentee relationship. He wants to mentor somebody.
- 1:12:38Speaker 5: He looked at like a twenty four years old.
- 1:12:40Speaker 19: That's what I'm looking for.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: He wants to bestow his knowledge that nothing, nothing made
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: me know that I was right then, prior to you,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: two generations before you are lifestyle writer. She came in
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: and she was a she was a ball of fire,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: like you know, she didn't back down to anyone, and
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: she was every bit of a traveler and a foodie
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: that Eric thought. You know, so you know, Eric al
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: was nervous, like how to pronounce different countries and different cities.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: So I'm at Tavolinos and they had the outdoor area,
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: so I'm sitting on one end and it wasn't crowded,
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: and I see the two of them and they went,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: they had a lunch date.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: So I'm over. I'm over.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: Yes, I'm just listening because I'm by myself, and all
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: of a sudden, at all there lunch erupts in this
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: debate about how a certain city was pronounced perfect, and
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: I'm like, this is you can't perfect, like you can't
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: make it up. And I said, moops, He'll never They'll
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: never last because he wants somebody that will accept everything
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: you're saying, and she wasn't going to accept.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Yeah, So it just I think the hard.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: Thing I realized too, is like, as I get older,
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: I realized it must be really hard to find somebody
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: as you get older and you kind of get set
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: in your ways, and I'm like, int to the point now,
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: I'm like, I like what I like. I don't need
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: to like do all this different stuff. And you know,
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: you're really trying to thread the needle. Whereas when you're
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: in your twenties, you're still a little bit malleable. You're
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: not exactly sure everything you like or.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: Don't like malleable.
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: It's going, right, I gotta get death, and we haven't
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: gotten deathing yet.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: We will still ready to be molded malleable. But I
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: think that we should never stop wanting to learn. No,
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: I agree, that's the wire man who knows.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: That's why.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: That's why Eric who knows everything.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: That's why Eric was never bored any day in his life,
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: and his life couldn't.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: Even telling lies you you are you are an habitual liar, not.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: An habitual liar and habitual right, well, I just habitual.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: Like if I had to go back into the market again,
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: like I would be like, Look, I don't I don't
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: stay like nine. I don't starty to be at nine.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: Thirty like oatmeal every morning. You know you listen, Are
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: you suddenly on the market?
- 1:14:50Speaker 7: No?
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: Absolutely, you better not. You better not do anything like that.
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: It's hard for like and I imagine I'm just it's
- 1:14:57Speaker 12: harder for a woman at that age.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: Well, sure, I mean you've got I mean, you know,
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: Perry menopo.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: You're just looking for some of the palace is on
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: the toe.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Another show. Just not speak for the rest of the
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: men on the p U.
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: This conversation is happening over there.
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: You still like the sex?
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: You're not going to say it's good.
- 1:15:27Speaker 12: Shows.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: I don't even know what to say.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: You can say, yes, I do so, Drake may huh.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: All right, let's let's get back to the hotline. We'll
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: go to Patty and agawam made five five past five hundred.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: What's up Patty?
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Save us?
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: Hey, lady and gentlemen, what's going on today? Pay question
- 1:15:47Speaker 8: and a kind of a way too early hot take
- 1:15:49Speaker 8: for the NFL.
- 1:15:51Speaker 14: Be thick with.
- 1:15:52Speaker 8: With Noel on the board, they went with Williams because
- 1:15:54Speaker 8: they want to probably possibly have a more vertical attack
- 1:15:58Speaker 8: this year, and he's probably better to the death for that.
- 1:16:01Speaker 8: Other the Knoll and my hot take is Paul, I'm
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: kind of with you.
- 1:16:06Speaker 14: I think bull Nick's low key thinks, and I.
- 1:16:09Speaker 8: Think the hot take is Sean Pagan is probably going
- 1:16:12Speaker 8: to be on the hot Become twenty twenty five.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: Wow, that's a great I like it.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: It's a very hot take, but I don't necessarily agree.
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: I don't know I necessarily agree with it either, but
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: I'm interested.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Bonicks had a fall from Grace mac Jones style.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: I don't think I would be totally surprised now. I
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: don't think it's going to happen. I wouldn't predict that,
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: but as a bold hot take, I'm not totally.
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: Maybe just being stubborn with this, I felt like bon
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: Nicks was a lot better than rookie year mac Jones.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I would.
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: Agree with that for sure.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: I think they have similar I think you Bix more athletic.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: I think he's a better runner for sure. But in
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: terms of they're throwing styles and you know where they
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: win and how they win from the pocket, I think
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: they they're similar in terms.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: Of I think his ability to get out of the
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: pocket is something mac Jones could agreed agreed.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Which might allow him to continue the success.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't. I mean Patty's right in that
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: I am not a huge Bonicks believer. I think that
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: he was put in a good situation for him. I
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: think Sean Payton is a good quarterback, friendly coach in
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: the system obviously has helped him that I all agree with.
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: But I think that Bonnicks showed more ability and more
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: playmaking than mac Jones ever did.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: I think he's got more off the field intangible kind
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: of leadership stuff too. That just seems like guys want
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: to follow Bonnicks. I know there's that shot of him
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: psycho like you'll getting in some player's face, I think
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: from the Raiders, Like I don't know, he just seems
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: to have that.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: It will be interesting to see here too, though, you know,
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: they make it jet to get a book on him
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: and make some adjustments.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Randy's in Brockton, Hey Randy, and hey, how's it going?
- 1:17:50Speaker 19: Funny thing? By the way, the last time I called
- 1:17:52Speaker 19: the sports radio show wasn't you guys? But I also
- 1:17:55Speaker 19: followed Patty for magawom.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Is that right? You guys are on the same schedule, right, Wait,
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: you guys are shows they.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: You should know about that based on your previous comments.
- 1:18:11Speaker 14: So anyway, I'm.
- 1:18:12Speaker 19: Very excited about how the draft went for New England overall.
- 1:18:15Speaker 19: I think even the reported leaks in Miami, I think
- 1:18:17Speaker 19: that worked out better for.
- 1:18:19Speaker 20: Us in the long run, because maybe we wouldn't have
- 1:18:21Speaker 20: been in the market for Wilson later on, and I
- 1:18:23Speaker 20: thought he was probably our best pick.
- 1:18:27Speaker 19: I think like the center position is underrated as maybe
- 1:18:32Speaker 19: the second. It's not the first most important spot on
- 1:18:36Speaker 19: the line, where it's kind of like the anchor of
- 1:18:38Speaker 19: the line, and I think.
- 1:18:39Speaker 20: Like Kevin Will Campbell are going to be able to
- 1:18:41Speaker 20: be lynchpin pieces for a long time become I think
- 1:18:44Speaker 20: he could potentially challenge Brad Berry immediately, but I hope
- 1:18:50Speaker 20: it seems like, yeah, it would.
- 1:18:52Speaker 19: Be great, right.
- 1:18:53Speaker 20: I mean, if you I was seeing the background of
- 1:18:55Speaker 20: the kid, it's like, yeah, he's got.
- 1:18:57Speaker 19: One year experience, but before that he was on the
- 1:19:00Speaker 19: like essentially scout team for Georgia, growing up against.
- 1:19:03Speaker 20: Like Jalen Carter and guys like that every day in practice.
- 1:19:06Speaker 20: So I think he's he's more prepared than his experience
- 1:19:10Speaker 20: might show.
- 1:19:13Speaker 14: But I've been seeing a.
- 1:19:14Speaker 19: Lot of early roster projections from.
- 1:19:17Speaker 14: Like folks to cover the past over the.
- 1:19:19Speaker 20: Past few days, and it looks to me like maybe
- 1:19:23Speaker 20: twenty seven twenty eight players on the fifty three man
- 1:19:26Speaker 20: final roster could be new. And I'm wondering if you
- 1:19:30Speaker 20: guys can remember seeing any kind of massive roster turnever
- 1:19:35Speaker 20: from one year to the next beat. I can't remember
- 1:19:38Speaker 20: it on the Patriots, but on any other team. And
- 1:19:42Speaker 20: I was also curious. I saw the details of Laye
- 1:19:46Speaker 20: Laris's contract that kind of looked like they think he
- 1:19:49Speaker 20: might make the roster.
- 1:19:52Speaker 18: A do you think that he pushes gives him down
- 1:19:55Speaker 18: the depth chart or even entirely off the roster and
- 1:19:58Speaker 18: beads you see do you know any other contract details
- 1:20:02Speaker 18: from some of the other UDFA specifically Dipper lamp purchase
- 1:20:07Speaker 18: or that might give us an indication of the teams
- 1:20:10Speaker 18: believe in their ability to make the roster.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Randy. I mean when you look at those contracts,
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: a lot of it it's based on how many other
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: teams were asking to sign them as well. Sometimes a
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: UDFA can get more than a seventh round pick.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, gets a pick where they want to go.
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: That definitely happens. I would just caution never look at
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: an UDFA contract as if to say he will he
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: has a better shot or a worse shot. Right, It's
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: never difference making money in terms of whether or not
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: we're going to keep a player.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's for but it does sometimes talk to the demand.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: Now the twenty No, No, that's absolutely fact. Yeah, you know,
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: and there's a lot of factors that go into why
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: one guy got more guaranteed money to sign. And Fred's right, like,
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: sometimes they know that there's competition for different guys. I
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: would just say that, you know, if someone's getting like,
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars in the signing bonus,
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: that's not going to prohibit him from getting cut. If
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: he doesn't do anything in training camp, like, that's not
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: an indication that that guy has got an inside track
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: for a roster spot. If he goes out and he performs,
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: that's different. But no team is going to say, well, jeez,
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: we gave him three hundred grand. You can't cut them.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: Like I've seen guys get cut over millions, let alone
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: hundreds of thousands.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Of dollars Maury from Austria, right say, he says from Wikipedia,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: this is about the Hernanas Tbow discussion. The Patriots signed
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: t Bow on June tenth, twenty thirteen, the day before
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: the team's mandatory mini camp. On June twenty six, twenty thirteen,
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: so this is sixteen days later, Hernanuz was charged with
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: first degree murder. Wow, so maybe the previous caller is
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: onto something.
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: Maybe so maybe tebo failed too late obviously. Yeah, no,
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: I mean, obviously this stuff already happened. I was just
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: being snarky, But I do think that there's a possibility.
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: It makes more sense than that.
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: They felt that would be a you know, a stabilizing factor.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: If you go back and now you look at all
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: the Hernandez docks that have come out, you know now
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: how much the team was concerned. You know, Hernandez had
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: gone to Belichick as an example, looking to get out
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: of town, so they knew there was reason to do
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: something like that. If in fact that had had something
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: to do with it would make some sense to me.
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: Yeah, like I just said, it makes more sense than
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: thinking he's going to play quarterback here.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, the overhaul of the roster was another part
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: of that call. Yeah, I mean this is this is
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: going to be a lot. But I mean, yeah, two
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: thousands to two thousand and one, they brought in twenty
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: something free agents. This is not quite that many free agents,
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: but with you know, you put the draft picks in
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: and stuff, there's going to be an overhaul. I think
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: teams that rebuild do this. Yeah. I mean I don't
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: have this specific big numbers to say twenty whatever this
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: year is more than anybody else. Maybe that might be
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: the absolute most, but I think you see guys come
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: in first year coaches with a team that needs a
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: heavy rebuilds, they just rip it down to the studs
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: and start over again. I think that happens a lot.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: I mean Washington just did this last year, and I
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: think that's sort of the model. I mean, we go
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: back to twenty you know, two thousand and one, because
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: you guys were here for that, but not every you know,
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: the national media doesn't go back that far like Washington
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: right now is being held up as like that's how
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: you do the one year rebuild. Right like that, you
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: go out, you sign ten to twelve NFL starters in
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: free agency, not necessarily stars, but just guys that can
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: plug holes and they can start at the NFL level.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: You draft a young quarterback and then you hope that
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: it all comes together.
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: You guys think that they're going to follow the regression
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: to the means second year free agency bump theory that
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: we've talked about a lot here.
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: So I don't know, because they didn't sign a lot
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: of big likes, right, you know, it was like Bobby
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: Wagner and you know, Zach Ertz, Like there wasn't like
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: five years, one hundred and twenty million to bring in
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: the highest priced guy on the market. So maybe it
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: won't be as much about that they've done a lot
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: this year. For me, it's all about Jayden Daniels. Like
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: I think that you can have a magical rebuild and
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: we can talk all about the story two thousand and
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: one free agent class, and they had a lot of
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: good play, you know, Mike Compton and Mike Rabel, Larry
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: Iso and all those guys that came in and they
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: performed right away and they helped the team. They improved
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: the team. They were rowing two when Tom Brady took over.
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: You know, So it comes down to if Drake May
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: does what we we all think he can do, the
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: Patriots will be a lot better. But if he doesn't
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: and you still have your questions Mike about turnovers and clutch,
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: we're probably going to be sitting there saying it was
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: still kind of you know, mid at Paul.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: In New Jersey writes in I.
- 1:25:06Speaker 12: I could tell you were waiting.
- 1:25:07Speaker 10: For some.
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: Affirmation. That's all here, It's all I'm looking for. Well, Paul, yes,
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: you used to correct You're yes.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: Paul in New Jersey. A live scout at Rutgers home games,
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: live scouts, Live scouts. I was able to watch Trevion
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: Henderson last year when Ohio State played Rutgers. I expected
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: to be blown away by Marvin Harrison. I think they
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: He actually ended up with three touchdowns, but Henderson went
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: for over two hundred yards. It was really He really
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: stole the show. Even when they were trying to kill
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: the clock, he was gaining eight plus yards per rush.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: Before that game, Rutgers was a top ten defense in
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: college football. So there you go.
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: A live scout, live scouting from the mouth of Babes
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: Yep Boots on the ground says, I love that.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: To get in the trenches poly. You know, it can
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: always be from me.
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: I'm a scale guy outside.
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: I gotta talk to the coaches. You gotta go on
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: the sideline pre game. How does he warm up? What's
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: his body that ever appeal to you?
- 1:26:08Speaker 15: Like?
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: I mean, just gonna have the world like going to
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: different college stadiums every week.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: Why are you bringing that up now? No?
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if that scratches the itch. Like
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: there's also just the perspective. I want to watch NFL
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: game film and break down off of you know what
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: I mean. But there's a whole different style of I'm
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: just spending my whole fall on the road, of course,
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: but you're just watching a lot of college I mean
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: it's I hear all the time Jordan Reid talking about
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: what his fall is like going to all these you know,
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: it's just on the road game.
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: Ten wouldn't be best so you can go to Hawaii.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not sure if it still existed.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: I'm not so sure how Jess would feel about that life.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: But yeah, no, I don't think it's that would be
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: a tough sell, I would say, because I there. You know,
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: we go on the road to road games, but they're
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: on the road twenty four seven. Like, you know, they're
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: on the road six days a week. It's definitely a
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: different animal, but it's very it's very uh, it's appealing
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: in a lot of ways. In some ways. You know,
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: it's kind of like any job, like you you have
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: to polish the silverware, and you know, some of it
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: is just kind of filling out biographical information and you know, owls,
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: this guy, hiet weight speed, you know, like that kind
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: of stuff. And you know it's it's not as like
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: I we get to just do the fun part, which
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: is just let's just watch this guy and see if
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: we like him, right, you know, like they have to
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: do the actual Like.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: I think if I was given the choice, if they said,
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: all right, dude, you're going to be a scout, pro
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: scouting door or college scouting door, I'll probably stick in
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: the pro scouting. I just I enjoy the NFL game more.
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: It's less chaotic. It feels like it's easier to find themes,
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: whereas it feels like the wild wild West in college football,
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: where it's big play, turnover, penalty, big play, those kind
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: of things. Hard. It's a really hard job.
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, speaking friends and I'm hoping to start
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: a semantic debate, perhaps one that even blossoms into a
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Fred Paul knockdown dragout of focus.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: We can do this.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: The term of concern here is rebuild. How far are
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: we into a rebuild? Have there been multiple rebuilds since
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Brady left? Or is it all one rebuild? In retrospect,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: the multiple regime changes make it seem like multiple from
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: build with Brady to Build without Brady, to Mayo to Vrabel,
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: And yet it also seems like one big rebuild because
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: it's on the heels of one gigantic dynasty, though there's
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: also the semantics of whether it was one or several dynasties.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: So I don't really like the term.
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: Because it just implies that you will rebuild it like
- 1:28:33Speaker 5: there's no assurance that you're.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Ever going.
- 1:28:37Speaker 12: Philosophical right now, I don't even know that you act.
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: Like And of course, now when we get to year
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: six of the rebuild will be flawless and we'll have
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: everything we need. Like it's just every year is its
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: own thing. You look at new coaches like new Coaches
- 1:28:49Speaker 5: was last year rebuild. They kept a lot of the
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: same players. This year feels a lot different. A lot
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: of different players, but it's still every year you're trying
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: to rebuild the team every year.
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: I think, like I understand, I think that this year
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: marks a rebuild. You know, you have the quarterbacks, so
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: that's that's a big part of any rebuild. But they
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: needed to build around him, right, and kind of rebuild
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: around him, and what they've done on defense. I mean,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: isn't that kind of like a rebuild too?
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: I think that you can make an argument that post Brady, Okay,
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: they tried to rebuild once with the twenty one free
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: agent class, then they decided that didn't work. Bill got fired,
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: Mayo came in. This is the second attempt to rebuild.
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: I would say this is year two of the second
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: attempt to rebuild post Brady.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how I would look at I think Bill
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: was given the opportunity to rebuild post Brady and failed,
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: So that ends that attempt of a rebuild. And then
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: last year they started, they drafted Drake may and they
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: started and again, and obviously there's a coaching change, But
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: to me, this is still the same attempt getting the
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: roster up and running just toptfully.
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: But can you use the term rebuild for a team
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: that hasn't been successful in the last ten years. They
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: are or they've just been.
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: But they've been trying to rebuild. I would say the
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: Jets have had many iterations of a rebuild. Like this
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: isn't the same as Zach Wilson.
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: They never had the building, you know what I mean,
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Like there was never a building there, Paul, You can't
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: rebuild what doesn't exactly what ben the Jets have been
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: building since nineteen seventy one.
- 1:30:29Speaker 12: Permits you got to redo all of that.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Or you know, lived in a town where there's that
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: one building on a commercial lot that always seems to
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: like get halfway done and it stops, you know, because
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: they ran out of money or the you know, the
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: backer went out of business or whatever, and it just
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: never seems to get built. And then finally somebody comes
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: in and finish and gets rid of all the toxic
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: stuff that was supposed to be taken out, you know,
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: like they do the hard work and they get it done.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: And that's kind of like what a lot of teams
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: go through, including us.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: I kind of feel like we're you know, when you're
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: on a plane and you're taking off and it feels
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: like you should have already lifted off the ground, but
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: you still haven't, and you're kind of like, wait, it's
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: like we've been we've been going a long way here
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: and you're kind of like lifting but you're not all
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: the way, and like we're still trying to get that
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: last kick to get us off the ground. That's happening,
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: and hopefully and hopefully no comment and hopefully Rabels is
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: like the last you know, it is the one that
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: that puts the air under the wings and is the
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: last kick. But the wings right now, I feel like
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: we've been on that runway for like five years, so like,
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: hopefully this is what we need.
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: A good thing. We're not a logan would be in
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: the ocean now.
- 1:31:43Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: It's funny, you know in the summer that they signed
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Cam Newton, Yeah, that was not a rebuild. That was
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: just trying to keep it going.
- 1:31:53Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: That was like, let's see if we can even.
- 1:31:56Speaker 12: That free age in class felt like a lot of
- 1:31:58Speaker 12: like if you had the more viable quarterback, felt like
- 1:32:01Speaker 12: win now guys as opposed to start from scratch, so
- 1:32:04Speaker 12: it was like almost we were patching holes.
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: Yea.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: That whole those two seasons, just like the two thousand
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: year or twenty twenty year. I just gold of like
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: throw out.
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: That, really, yeah, that's sort of the after MA. And
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: then I think they started to try to rebuild in
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: twenty one with it reshaping the roster, and they gave
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: that a couple of years. It didn't work, so they said, okay,
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: we're still rebuilding. This is the second attempt to rebuild
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: post Brady, in my opinion, and I think that you
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: guys are right, Like you bring in a quarterback, so
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: this is now the Drake may or so much like
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: you mentioned the Jets, I think that they they tried
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: to rebuild with Sam Darnold and then decided, well, that's
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: not working. We're gonna have to go another direction. We're
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: going to go Zach Wilson. Okay, that's not working. We
- 1:32:50Speaker 4: got to go in another direction. This is like at
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: least the third just in that time for it.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Let's see, here's where maybe we'll get into an argument.
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: I think when you have pieces and you're trying to
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: find that quarterback, that's not rebuilding. That's the quarterback search,
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: the quarterback cast or carousel.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: You haven't even let the gate yet, you know, but
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: like you've got first.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: Round picks on your defensive line and in your in
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: your backfield.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: That's why I say this, this is a different version
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: for the Jets. Like they have some talent, but it's
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: not necessarily but they just but they of course they're rebuilding.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: No, they're just trying to find a quarterback.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: No, they have to find wins. Okay, like they can't win.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: I know that's true, But I'm talking about in terms
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: of personnel. They're not rebuilding their team because they've got talent.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: They just need a quarterback.
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: But you don't think they added like Garrett Wilson. So
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: you did it speak We found every team adds people
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: every year, but those are the guys that they're building
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: with the three. To me, it starts with those three
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: first round picks like four years ago. Okay, Sauce Garrett
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: Wilson and Johnson.
- 1:33:53Speaker 11: Yeah right, Like every year we go into it and say,
- 1:33:56Speaker 11: you know what if that quarterback a whether it's Aaron
- 1:33:58Speaker 11: Rodgers or whoever, as well, they've got the talent.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: They've got the talent to compete.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: I know, but they just got the talent, but they
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: just had it a few years now. This is this
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: will be the fourth right, they've had it for three years.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: This is again they're in a rebuild.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: I think the Patriots are in year two of a rebuild.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: The Jets are in year four of a rebuild. I think, like,
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: I don't think it's that complicated.
- 1:34:20Speaker 11: My point is the Jets have been built. They just
- 1:34:22Speaker 11: don't have a quarterback and maybe not so he.
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: Was right, he got us Jets are in year one
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: because it's a totally new regime, like they have a new.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: Generally, But the Patriots are in a new regime too.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: But I don't think this is a different.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: But Elliott's still here, so like but no, but if
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: Mike Rabel was here, he would say, no, this is
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: year one. I don't care what happened last year.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: No, this is now my team, and I'm building it
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: the way I want.
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: That's apparent.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: I think the Jets are in year fifty five of
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: a rebuild.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: It's you can make that case.
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: Are many different pairs of it.
- 1:34:57Speaker 12: Going back to like friend's analogy to the Jets are
- 1:34:59Speaker 12: like it's a it's a business or it's a building
- 1:35:02Speaker 12: where no business survives over and over again, everything that
- 1:35:05Speaker 12: comes and fails. They last like a year whereas we like,
- 1:35:08Speaker 12: we're building a house, but we just had to get
- 1:35:11Speaker 12: a new contractor we're.
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: Still going to try it, but somebody was built.
- 1:35:17Speaker 12: But now we had a mansion in the nineties, we're
- 1:35:20Speaker 12: updating it and we had to get a new contractor.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: Okay, good good space, Johnny and Matt Town. I haven't
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: been able to write in for a while to do
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: a family health situation. Almost three months ago, my brother
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: Carlos or Charlie, was found unresponsive by his caretaker at
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: his home. After a battle trying to fight off what
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: ended up being an incurable infection. We lost him on
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: April thirteenth. I just wanted to take this time to
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: thank you guys for pu the Draft Show and all
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: the content you produce. It's helped me get through one
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: of the most difficult times of my life. If you
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: all have siblings, please let them know you love them today.
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: At some point when my brother passed away, he was
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: covered by a new England Patriots blanket, the team we
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: maintain our fandom for even after moving to Wisconsin from Maine.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: He'll definitely be enjoying front row seats to watch the
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Patriots every Sunday. From the other side. Thank you. Every
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: once in a while we hear stories like that, how
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: we give some entertainment to people who are going through
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: tough things, and that makes me feel good. Snry for loss,
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: let's see. Nate writes in says, I've been making content
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: on the Patriots. I mostly focus on Instagram as my
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: platform for sharing. I'm trying to get on podcast. This
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: whole journey is exciting. I'm seventeen years old and this
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: is definitely something I wanted to get into. I just
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: want to say thank you for being inspiring and showing
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: why it's worth to chase your dreams. I think he's
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: talking to YouTube.
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I was maybe you two. I was going
- 1:36:54Speaker 4: to give you the credit. Fred No, but solding and
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: shaping young minds everywhere.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Yeah, bad way.
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: Just yeah, stick with it, find your niche. That's what
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: try to tell everybody, you know, carve out a little way.
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: Stupid hoodie database was a way to, you know, make.
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: My blog, just have something, to try to come up
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: with something more relevantly.
- 1:37:12Speaker 5: Yeah yeah right, but it's as Claire's doing. Like, give
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: Claire props. She continues to blast out her podcast. You know, hello,
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: you love it. And you got the passion for I mean,
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: it never felt like work to me. It was always
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: just like my passionate hobby. And you know, if it
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: doesn't feel like where you, I hope you can get
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: the opportunity to work in a job.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Take it till you make it, just you know, look
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: at people that that you like their work and try
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: to emulate it. Try to take things from it, you know,
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: and just try to do it how they do it.
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: Like that's the best advice you can get. I mean,
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: the niche advice is really good too, you know. I
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: rag on Barth a lot, but like he found a
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: niche with the draft, he found a niche with specialists,
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: which I like to make fun of him for. But
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: yesterday on Catch twenty two, I don't think anybody knew
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: more about the long snapper than Alex Bark. Now you
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: might think that that's irrelevant, but people come to our
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: show to listen to Alex talk about kickers and long snappers.
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: When they draft kickers and long snappers. It's a niche
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: that he, you know, has cornered.
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: So that's on those long snaps we got we got talking.
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: He was we had it all we had, we had
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: the time, you know, the time from the snap to
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: the hole to the kick, the operation time, and you
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: know how the ashby is more of like a straight line,
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: you know, get out and make tackles type of long
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: you know, aggressive long snapper blocking longnid.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: That was one of my favorite stories from uh from
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: Draft Night, which a little bit behind the scenes was
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: you know, we obviously have a whole system and the
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: player gets selected and then everybody's got their jobs to do,
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: and UH, wonderful Casey. Her job is to find highlights
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: of players, and so we draft the long snapper and
- 1:38:44Speaker 5: then I see Casey like, don't have highlights looking for them,
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: and I just like, what do you do for long snap?
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: Lights?
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: Like he made some tackles, so God bless Casey.
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: She found him and I was like fire emoji, but
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: she literally, I mean, I'm like, are they gonna just
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: show the snaps or do you show the punt too, like.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: You know, if you find out who the punch was.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: And that's what she did originally, Like Marcus Bryant, she
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: was taking membu highlights. Didn't move the arrow over. She
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: called me over and she's like, can you just double
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: check that this is I highlighted the right guy, but
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: that actually made a tackle against Alabama, Like he's got
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: some tackles on his tape.
- 1:39:24Speaker 11: Yeah, somebody out Yeah, Doctor Sam writes in says, I'm
- 1:39:30Speaker 11: not trying to hate on Paul and his buddies Volger
- 1:39:32Speaker 11: and Maz, but my god, they are negative.
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: It makes me wonder how someone can be that negative.
- 1:39:38Speaker 4: Paul.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Is it a stick or do they truly believe this?
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: I think it's probably like anything else, it's a combination
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: of both. Yeah, I think they play into it. I
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: think Mike plays into it a little bit, knowing that
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: it's gonna resonate. But I mean, at the same time
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: I heard I didn't hear most of this stuff early
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: in the week. I did hear a lot yesterday, and
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: they just kept coming up with all of the comments
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: from last year's draft and how over the top positive
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: every single comment was. So it's not like they just
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: make it up. Now. Did they lean into it and
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: accentuate it for stick YEP. I think they do, And
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: I think they enjoy it. They know it's going to resonate,
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: they know it's going to rankle the Feathers Show. Yeah,
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: it's like they're trying to entertain.
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: But like what I would say, people were high on
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: that draft last year, but like not like this well
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: and not like the people sit in here like I.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: Mean, you can I can have them read it to you.
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: I can tell I can show you the a pluses
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: for Javon Baker from everyone they read. This is what
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: I mean, like people just I just revisioned him. He
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: read like ten different guys. Yeah, from who though, I mean,
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: you can find them all the national guys.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: They thought this draft was as good as I mean.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: No, last year they were overwhelmingly positive about the picks,
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: especially Javon Baker.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: But saying that you thought that.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Fred An A is an A. I don't know. Did
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: they like this one better than that one? I don't know.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: I think the average for last year was like C
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: plus P but it.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: Wasn't and they have the no from what I saw,
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: but they I'm just telling you them.
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: I don't care, Okay, Like maybe I'm wrong, I just
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: don't remember. I can just tell you that people being
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: as excited as this last year.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: Everybody was telling me that Jalen Polk was going to
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: fit right in as a starter and be like an
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: unbelievably productive player and be better than would you have
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: an upgraded version of Jacoby Myers is what people were
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: saying after the draft last year. Okay, okay, So I
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: don't know is that better or worse than what people
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: were saying about kyowam saying?
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: I don't wrong, I just don't remember the enthusiasm people
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: thought it was an okay.
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: Right, I feel like the but you know, I feel
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: like the enthusiasm right now is at a very high
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: level for this draft. Yeah, I'm just going to speak
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: to that, no doubt present people.
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Some people said it was the best draft in the NFL.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: This I bumped into I heard that. I bumped into
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: Evan I mean Wolf leaving the building the other day.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: I just said to him, you know, like, you know,
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: made small talk about that, and I said, hey, just
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: to let you know, when we're doing our shows, there's
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: a lot of excitement, there's a lot of optimism. It
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: really felt good about what what happened over the weekend
- 1:42:19Speaker 4: and this just and he goes, no, we do too,
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: and we're hoping that it pans out. But like I
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: believe that. I didn't just say that because I ran
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: into the general manager. I said that because That's what
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: my interaction was Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Well, I'll tell
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: you what yesterday one and what did I say?
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Immediately?
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: I did the same thing to Elliott wall.
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: I know, I know, but I think with the Javon
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: Baker because it's a fair point. I like the Javon
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: Baker pick too, but I just liked the pick where
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: they got him, Like I just liked the upside of
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: a fourth round pick, Like I saw a guy that
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: had the talent of probably like a second round pick, right,
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: And I think, but the difference is is like we're
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: just evaluating the draft in the moment, knowing what we
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: knew pre draft.
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: Correct.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: No one is sitting there saying that these guys are
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: all going to go on to be Hall of Famers.
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: It's just for the information that you had going into
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: the draft. How do you feel about the guys that
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: they picked? I mean, Duce and I with Jalen Polk,
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: we were not you were not as high as everybody
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: or not.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: I've defended both of you. I've defended both of you
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: on that fact many times. But the bottom line is this,
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: I hear you. So when I agree with Fred, the
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: enthusiasm in The excitement right now is very high, I
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: think with Mike and Tony, and I'm not trying to
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: defend them because they are negative and they do a
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: lot of this stuff knowing that it's going to bother people,
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: and they know what resonates and all that, So I'm
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: not defending them. They're big boys, they can defend themselves.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: But what they're trying to point out is not that
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: this draft stinks, not that this draft isn't as good
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: as you think it is. Right, They're just telling you
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: to have some caution and wait to see because a
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: lot of the stuff people are saying right now is
- 1:43:58Speaker 4: not all that different than what people was saying last
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: year in the year before, and they went back and
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: got the information to back it up. I like you
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: had you had something about the Dane Brugler on catch
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: twenty two who said you felt like this was the
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: best draft in football this year. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: anyone said that last year. Now, so there's even more
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: excitement about this draft, Yeah, without anybody playing it down.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm trying to think of a time, whether it
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: was our draft or someone else's, where someone said, boy,
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: this is a bad draft and it turned out to
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: be a great.
- 1:44:34Speaker 12: Oh there was one. There was a there was a
- 1:44:36Speaker 12: clip circulating. I think it was like the twenty twelve
- 1:44:38Speaker 12: Seahawks draft. PFT commenter had a clip circulating where they
- 1:44:42Speaker 12: drafted Russell Wilson and like the whole legion of Bloom,
- 1:44:45Speaker 12: like legion of Boom, a bunch of those guys and
- 1:44:48Speaker 12: they got an F And this Bleacher Report writer was
- 1:44:51Speaker 12: just tearing the Seahawks to shreds talking about how they
- 1:44:53Speaker 12: drafted a quarterback that didn't fit their system at all,
- 1:44:55Speaker 12: and then they went and won a super Bowl like
- 1:44:57Speaker 12: a year two years later.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Was he on an island or where there were a
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: lot of commentators.
- 1:45:02Speaker 12: Well, I didn't go that far back to look at.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: I'll tell you one thing that I saw for this
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: because again, I think all of the reactions for this
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: draft of all, I haven't seen anything really even close
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: to negative. I think I saw one C something plus
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: B minus. Okay, that must be the one I'm talking about.
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: But I saw like NFL dot Com grades all the drafts.
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: Do you know the take a guess what the lowest
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: grade any team got? B minus? Like how can everybody
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: be good?
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: Especially?
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: That's what I said, right that's not occurred.
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: So somebody on Twitter, his name is Renee Buckner. I
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: think it is around. He does a consensus of all
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: of the grades. Every year he puts out a tweet
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: of all of you know, the top the top draft
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: guys all in one. So this year the Patriots are
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: number one. They had the consensus best draft.
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: And I don't find that surprising at all. Yeah, I
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: think that that was anecdotally, That's what I thought. Yeah,
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: last year they were twelve, so middle pretty high. It
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: is still pretty but still pretty.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: So they he does it.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: It's kind of cool.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: He averages a GPA out of like, you know, AA
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: plus P plus. So last year their GPA was three
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: point two. Yeah, three point two. This year was over
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: three six.
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: So I'll say this to to Rip Felger in MATS
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: a little bit. I kind of defended them a little bit.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: So twelve, okay, So what they do is they selectively
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: do because obviously there were people that thought three point
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: two it's not a bad grade. So there were people
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: that had a lot of nice things to say, that's
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: what they read. They didn't read the ones that brought
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: it down to a three point two because there was
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: probably more people last year that didn't like the draft
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: than this year. But that doesn't work for their their
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: argument in the moment, so they leave that out. They
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: go with Felger facts. It's nothing that they didn't say
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: anything wrong. They attributed a positive comment to whoever said
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: it about Jay Von Baker. Yeah, but they left out
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: the part that maybe three other people didn't have as
- 1:47:13Speaker 4: nice things to say about Jalen Polk because that doesn't
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: fit their narrative at the time. That's what they do
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: a lot, and it just within context, and it goes
- 1:47:20Speaker 4: back to what we spoke about earlier in the show.
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: Getting Drake May at three. Overall, for me colored the
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: whole draft. It was you're kind of like, okay, you
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: know at the time when they took Layden Robinson and
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: Kayden Wallace kind of like, eh, you know, there were
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: some questions about needing the left tackle. I agree with
- 1:47:34Speaker 5: the point on Polk, And it's like, because I really
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: did like Polk, Like I like, you guys paint me
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: out as being like depressed when they took him. I
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: just was mad at the spot, you know, like I
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: just felt like the second we needed a little more
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: dynamic energy, like Kyle Williams has That's why I was
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: more excited about him in the third round. But but
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: I just think Drake may kind of colored last year's
- 1:47:53Speaker 5: draft and the reaction to it of what you feel like,
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: you got the guy it's the hardest piece to get,
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: and you felt he didn't have those athletic limitations where
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: when they drafted Mac you were like, well, I just
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: think he can execute it and get ball distributor and
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: you know he's going to make the right play and
- 1:48:05Speaker 5: he's not going to throw stupid interceptions back across the
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: field three times like that kind of Oh, I think.
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: I think that's I think that's fair.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Paul, do you remember probably like we've you know, in
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: the thirty years I've been here, we've had drafts where people,
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: most of the people said that was a good draft.
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: But do you remember a draft where the consensus was
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: we had the best draft?
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: I don't. Oh, yeah, I thought you were going to say,
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: do you remember a draft that we ever had that
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: people said wasn't a good one? And I can't. Yeah,
- 1:48:31Speaker 4: I can't think of a single one.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: Do you remember one where they said that was the
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: best draft?
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: Not off the top of my head, but I would
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: assume that, yes.
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: I would speculate twelve maybe got some of that just
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: with two first round picks.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: I would say that when when Belichick and listen, I'm
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: not trying to make fun of Bill because he was
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: on a heater for a while and when he was
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: in his heyday in like the mid odts, when it
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: was just ripping out pick after pick after pick, I'll
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: guarantee you they would consider to have the best draft
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: like in one of those years. But no, I don't.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: I don't have that information.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think and this is a me thing
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: totally with with with your shows, Like it's hard for me,
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: as as someone that puts so much into the draft
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: to hear that, oh, I've never watched the guy play.
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: So if you want to read other people's like takes
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: on the picks and then do what we're talking about
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: with the grades and and regrade the graders and all,
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: that's totally fine. But don't give me a take on
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: the player. If you've never seen the players.
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: I'm going to give you this too. You know that,
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: Mike and they don't. They take pride in the fact
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: that they don't know any anything about these guys.
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: But they don't.
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: They don't judge the player. They judge the people who
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: are judging the player.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: Correct, And that's what I said, which is totally correct.
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: Sure, but like don't like then have a take on
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: the funniest the funniest thing about the whole thing is
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: in general terms, they don't really have any problems with
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: players either. It's all about how the media perceives the players.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: But they just don't like people being happy.
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: As points point, they're talking yesterday that they're trying to
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: break down Kyle Williams sixty ninth pick, and Felger's saying, like,
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: what are you hoping to get that? Like everybody is
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: completely convinced this guy is going to be great when
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: history will tell you is probably maybe a thirty percent
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: chance that he hits, you know, based on where he's picked.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: And they're going about all these different guys that are
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: drafted over the last three or four years in similar areas.
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: Did you hear this?
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: No?
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: No, but I can imagine what it say.
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: So Felder's obviously on draft history, and he's doing all
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: the running Paula wide receivers, right, He's like, you know,
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: Mike Us, Alex Francisco Nathaniel Dell. You know, Evan Lazar,
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: they have no idea who Nathaniel Dell is. They don't
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: have a clue. Do you know who Nathaniel Dell is? No,
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: it's Tank Dell. Oh okay, so they're like, I never
- 1:50:48Speaker 4: heard this guy, so he stinks, right, And of course
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: you get like forty five minutes ahead. They go to
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: the email section, and this is what I'll say. To
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: Mike's credit them. He read four thousand males destroying him
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: for not knowing who Nathaniel Dell was, and he read
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: every one of them, ripping him a new one for it.
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: But the point is Evan's point, you should know at
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: least a little something about the game and other players
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: around the league. They talked about Josh Downs and they
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: gave and they gave his stats, and then Felger said,
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: and he did that with Anthony Richardson and Joe Flacco
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: throwing the ball, and Tony stops laughing. He goes, oh god,
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: you said that, because I was going to ask your
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: what team he was on. I'm sorry, you should know
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: what team Josh Downs is on. It's not I'm not
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: asking you to know what team the left guard is on.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: I'm asking you to know a wide receiver who catches
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: seventy five balls a year, you should probably know who
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: that team, what that guy is.
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: It's like if only they had somebody that works for
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: the station, who lives and dies by college football, that
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: could maybe like just give.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: More than his share of air time over the last
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: month they need with him in there, Bill and Vista, California.
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Just scrolling through X and seeing highlights of Drake's presser. Again,
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: I've only read excerpts and have not heard it, But
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: is Drake giving sneaky rocky vibes from happy for Joe
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: to have a chance to be a backup to happy
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: to have a receiver who has made plays? It almost
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: seems like subtle shots that brings up the question when
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: did Deuce become Drake's mentor.
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: Happy rocky vibes?
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, what are the rock?
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Pun would be my guess in the morning, I splash
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: it on.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: It makes me Smeal mainly, Smeal mainly can you read
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: that rock.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Rock rock was there? Rocky took shots at people?
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: I don't know, I mean he took literally like punch people.
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's what he's talking about.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: Don't take no cheap shots in the Thunderlips Baby the
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: ultimate object of desire.
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: David and Madrid. I'm super excited for the draftees and
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: the u U d f as. I got admit, I'm
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: not excited about the unif.
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: I just loved, Like that's another example, and I think
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: with Felger.
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: And it's a good udf A class though there are
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: a couple of guys.
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: On that.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: Funny because we went from a draft that you know,
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: it wasn't really hugely talent related to now we've got
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: talent in the unif A class, the.
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: Best draft, but the best udf A class as well.
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: In fairness, everybody said there will be a lot of
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: good udf as because of the glut of players in
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: this draft. Okay, there's there were more players available because
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: of COVID in the five years, six years, seven years.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: Like a lot of people predicted there would be some
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: good ud f as.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: I'm like, there's a lot of land Larrison.
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: Don't ask me, don't ask me who to individually pick.
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: D Christian McCaffrey, he just like.
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: Oh yeah, totally the same thing.
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: Didn't have a lot of a lot of juice to me,
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: but maybe I'll be wrong about it.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: I really think they have filled a lot of needs.
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: But the linebacker room is concerning. Right now, we have
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: Splaining Gibbons, Ellis, Tavai, Monty Rice, and a Udfe. You
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: guys trust this group, and if God forbids Splaine gets injured,
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: are you comfortable with a Gibbons Elis or Elis to
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: Vai as a tandem. I certainly am not. If we
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: lose games or our defenses and what we expected it
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: will be because of the second line of defense.
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: I don't think that this scheme, I don't think necessarily
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: what's the word. I don't think they need superstars at
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: linebacker in this type of defense. Like I don't think
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: this is a defense that runs some defenses like the
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: middle linebacker spot is a key spot within the scheme
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: and it's kind of all built around the middle linebacker,
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: especially have a good one like San Francisco or something
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: like that. This this defense, I don't I don't feel
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: is that way. I don't think they ever really had
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: superstar middle linebackers in Tennessee either. They were all kind
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: of you know, role players and guys that were good
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: at what they asked them to do. Types of players.
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: So I think their linebackers are fine for what they're
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: trying to do. They want their defensive line to be
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: With all that. I would worry a little bit of
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: Spolaine where to get hurt. I think Splain needs to
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: be a part of this.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think Gibbons is an okay backup
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: that they that they didn't have last year. And I'd
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: also say Christianelli's just He was also at the podium
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: after you guys and said this is the perfect defense
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: for me to play in, which makes sense to me.
- 1:55:22Speaker 5: He fits that kind of mold of just little linebackers
- 1:55:24Speaker 5: who can run.
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: Has Splain talked other than the day that we signed. No, No,
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: do we know if he is okay with being called Bobby.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: I don't know, because I do want to call him Bobby,
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: and I want him to move to swamp Scott so
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: I can say.
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: Not a lot of Patriot players I imagine living up
- 1:55:45Speaker 5: in swamp Skit.
- 1:55:46Speaker 14: No.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: It's a nice place.
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: It's very nice, but is it far's It'd be very
- 1:55:52Speaker 4: you'd be crazy to live out, very difficult to manage
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: that commutey that is you have to go if you live.
- 1:55:57Speaker 12: Up in Boston, like you're probably there's some days where
- 1:55:59Speaker 12: you're driving an hour to get home.
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: Oh right, so make it too for swampscar.
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: Gonna do a little mileage check. Here what you got
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: on the mileage car these days? These three?
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: You got two?
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: Three, you got two sixty five five thousand.
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: I'm at one seventy. Your car is like two years old,
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: right well at nineteen, Yeah, I wasnt good. I had
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: to get new tires. Got my bridge stone tires yesterday.
- 1:56:23Speaker 2: By the way, run flats and run flats. I had them,
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: what the hell? Had them detail it? It does make
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: a big deal, shiny, it's like a new car inside.
- 1:56:31Speaker 12: Can I tell you guys a quick story. I'm still
- 1:56:33Speaker 12: so irate from this. I got an oil change the
- 1:56:36Speaker 12: other day, and I wanted them to just inspect the
- 1:56:38Speaker 12: car too, But my neighbor's kid cracked my driver's side
- 1:56:43Speaker 12: mirror with a tennis ball, so needs the glass replaced.
- 1:56:46Speaker 12: They're else, they'll give me a red R because it's
- 1:56:48Speaker 12: a safety thing. Obviously you want a red AR, not
- 1:56:51Speaker 12: a black AR.
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: Rather, I have one.
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: So I said, yeah, just like a year, just sixteen months.
- 1:56:59Speaker 12: So I tried to get a quote to do the
- 1:57:01Speaker 12: mirror too, as well as my oil changed, hi rotation,
- 1:57:04Speaker 12: et cetera. He tells me it's going to cost seven
- 1:57:07Speaker 12: hundred dollars to do the mirror and I said, what
- 1:57:09Speaker 12: do you mean and he said, yeah, well it's the
- 1:57:12Speaker 12: part and the labor. And I was like, okay, we're
- 1:57:15Speaker 12: not going to do that today. Whatever. I go, sit down,
- 1:57:19Speaker 12: get up on the internet, pull up some YouTube videos,
- 1:57:21Speaker 12: bring my laptop back up to the guy and I say,
- 1:57:24Speaker 12: are you quoting me for the entire mirror or just
- 1:57:27Speaker 12: the glass? And he said it pops right out. I
- 1:57:30Speaker 12: can do it myself. So I have my laptop and
- 1:57:33Speaker 12: I'm like, did you quote me for the entire mirror
- 1:57:34Speaker 12: or just the glass? And he said, oh, let me check,
- 1:57:36Speaker 12: and he goes they said the entire mirror. I said why,
- 1:57:40Speaker 12: I said, show me it. Why do I need the
- 1:57:41Speaker 12: mirror replaced? The glass pops out like it's literally just
- 1:57:44Speaker 12: the glass. I made him walk to the car with
- 1:57:46Speaker 12: me and show me and he was like, oh, because
- 1:57:49Speaker 12: I'm so vulnerable in an autobody, like you know, mirror tried.
- 1:57:55Speaker 12: He freaking tried. But guess what. My stepdad owned family
- 1:57:59Speaker 12: owns a chassis company. My brother's super handy. Like I
- 1:58:02Speaker 12: was ready to go. I had chat gpt up, I
- 1:58:04Speaker 12: had the YouTube video. So I so I'm like, why
- 1:58:09Speaker 12: would you guys quote me for the mirror if it's
- 1:58:11Speaker 12: just the glass that needs to be replaced. I said,
- 1:58:13Speaker 12: the electronics still works all of this, And then he
- 1:58:16Speaker 12: had nothing to say to me. He was like, oh,
- 1:58:18Speaker 12: you're right, You're right, and I said yeah, and I'm.
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: Like, no, but that's the thing today, is you need
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: to find a place that is willing to repair rather
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: than replace.
- 1:58:26Speaker 12: Yes, yeah, it was.
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: It's just easier and they make more money just taking
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: off the whole thing and putting in a new one
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: rather than just fix.
- 1:58:35Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:58:35Speaker 12: So then I'm like he's like, oh, well the glass
- 1:58:37Speaker 12: will cost this, and it was still outrageous. It was
- 1:58:40Speaker 12: like going to be like almost two hundred dollars just
- 1:58:42Speaker 12: for the glass and to pop it out. And I
- 1:58:44Speaker 12: had seen the video and I was like, honestly for
- 1:58:47Speaker 12: the convenience. If you guys had quoted me initially and
- 1:58:50Speaker 12: we're honest, just for the convenience, I would have said whatever,
- 1:58:53Speaker 12: like taking it on social media, I can't sponsor reasons.
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: I say, he's already asked about it. It's wonderful for
- 1:59:05Speaker 5: that kind of stuff. You can put your car make in.
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: They'll tell you exactly what you need. And there's YouTube videos.
- 1:59:09Speaker 5: I've done a car mire had my work.
- 1:59:12Speaker 12: Laptop press play on the video. I said, you're telling
- 1:59:15Speaker 12: me this is going to cost me two hundred dollars, Like.
- 1:59:17Speaker 4: Oh, I was.
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: This isn't a problem though in the car industry, Like
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: my dad does a lot of consulting and a lot
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: of his business and my brother is women because women,
- 1:59:25Speaker 3: like they think they can take advantage of women, and
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: they do in the car industry. And so like my
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: dad goes in with them and like to lease a car,
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: buy a car, and like they think and then he's like, no,
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: you're not gonna We're not doing this today, like and
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: you know, technically.
- 1:59:40Speaker 4: They take it. They take advantage of middle aged old
- 1:59:43Speaker 4: men that don't know anything about cars too. Yeah, right, Like,
- 1:59:46Speaker 4: well that's why dad.
- 1:59:48Speaker 12: Broken the seven hundred and fifty dollars for gas on
- 1:59:52Speaker 12: a mirror. I could have punched this guy.
- 1:59:54Speaker 4: I got to get my breaks done.
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: It won't cost hi right now, just thinking about some
- 1:59:58Speaker 2: days ago, like a guy like if I go in
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: telling them what I think I know what's wrong. They
- 2:00:04Speaker 2: take it as a challenge to like, no, you know
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: it's it's it's awful, but good for you.
- 2:00:11Speaker 12: Thank you, very proud of myself.
- 2:00:14Speaker 4: Do your research. It might be the bypass line you
- 2:00:17Speaker 4: know knows.
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: Thank you very much.
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: Bypass line.
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: You got to get Paul's card pass inspection.
- 2:00:22Speaker 5: Paul think I think that ship is sale there.
- 2:00:25Speaker 4: I'd love to hand it over to your father and
- 2:00:27Speaker 4: just slip the other way and thank him when he's done.
