- 0:54Speaker 2: Hi, my name is Wanda Pearson.
- 0:56Speaker 2: With my podcast Ready Set Collaborate that I am launching, this is my first episode and I want to teach you, to get to know a little bit about Rhonda Pearson and why I'm doing this podcast.
- 1:05Speaker 2: To help entrepreneurs collaborate and to network, they come in a networking plane.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Let me get into why I'm actually starting this podcast and let you know more about Wanda Pearson.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Well, I'm a passionate person and I love to help others.
- 1:19Speaker 2: My background in social work has always been my dream since I was 10 years old.
- 1:25Speaker 2: The reason why I did that is because when I'm from Chicago, illinois, social work is to come to our home to check on us.
- 1:33Speaker 2: When I saw this person come in there the show that she saw concerned about how we were treated, I wanted to be the same type of person I end up.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, god gave me this vision, the vision to be able to be a social worker in and out of the community to help others, but also to help people who have a low self-esteem and confidence.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So I knew that God's plan has always been for me to be able to share my challenges and try to help others.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Well, growing up with this abusive stepfather, I knew what I wanted to do and I knew that wasn't the type of life that I wanted.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So I wanted to help women and men that had a low self-esteem and confidence to believe in themselves.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I also mentor middle school girls in a stars program.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I am called the Affirmation Queen.
- 2:27Speaker 2: The reason I'm called that?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Because I like to make sure that they have affirmations every day to go out, to be positive, to believe in themselves.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So positive words make a difference in your life.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I am beautiful, I am strong, I can do all things to Christ that strengthen me.
- 2:42Speaker 2: These words give you the courage to do whatever and whatever you want to do in life and to believe in yourself.
- 2:48Speaker 2: This is how I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur to help people in their personal and business life.
- 2:54Speaker 2: So I started being an entrepreneur when I retired from corporate after 36 years.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I was a baby when I retired.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I say that all the time.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I wanted to get into the community and educate and empower people about our business, which is legal, civil and small business.
- 3:12Speaker 2: This service was a no-brainer to me and my husband when we joined 26 years ago that it was an affordable legal protection program that we can call an attorney anytime we want.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You know how you hear that verse.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm going to call my lawyer.
- 3:25Speaker 2: No wonder we don't have a lawyer, but that is actually something that I said.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Well, this is one way of being able to pick up the phone and call an attorney.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So that's how I started my entrepreneur's business with that after I retired.
- 3:36Speaker 2: But also being able to take your legacy is the most important part of this service.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I am very passionate about what I do because it gives me the opportunity to help others as well as having that social work.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It made me realize that God knew all along what His plans was for me, for me when I retired.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So I'm going to tell you a little bit of what entrepreneurship is.
- 4:00Speaker 2: This is all going to come into a little nugget here of race and collaborate.
- 4:05Speaker 2: So entrepreneurship means to me is to be able to build that foundation, to have a legacy in your own business, not someone else's vision or what they want you to do in that company.
- 4:17Speaker 2: When I left corporate, I wanted to make sure that I had my own schedule.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I had my own time.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I could do anything that I wanted to do because it was mine.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So entrepreneurship to me means that you're doing things that what you want to do is for building your own legacy.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I did learn a lot from corporate, which was a blessing, but I knew I had to do more to be able to create something that I was always passionate about.
- 4:45Speaker 2: So I created my own brand, WD Pearson Associates LLC.
- 4:48Speaker 2: That was a vision to help people who had a passion to start their own business and set it up the right way.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I had an issue with setting up my LLC.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I had no idea.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I didn't know that an actually legal show could help you with that as well, but I do consult educate to help them not make the same mistakes that I did.
- 5:07Speaker 2: So I want to make sure that they're setting their business up the right way legally, financially and successfully and that is how I actually was able to create my WD Pearson Associates, along with other services that I provide.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So what made me pick this title?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Ready to Collaborate?
- 5:24Speaker 2: Well, when COVID happened in 2020, I got in my office and I started doing webinars with other entrepreneurs to collaborate and connect and educate people on our businesses.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Collaboration and connections has always been very important to me and I wanted to make sure that I created this title to be able to share our businesses and collaboration with one another to be successful.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So I was ready to do this by creating this podcast set to bring other opportunities to connect with people and collaborate to be successful in whatever we do.
- 5:59Speaker 2: As far as what we are doing in our business and our families and you know how you have your family reunions.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Well, family reunions takes collaboration as well.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So we have a family reunion every year and that is definitely collaboration, connecting with your families, but also with your business, connecting with your clients.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So, collaboration connecting networking and I want to get into networking is so important.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So when I actually got out to do my own business, I started networking with my business, ligashio, and that networking helped me to connect with so many other entrepreneurs, with people who actually never heard of our business, but also to help them to get their business set up the right way and to collaborate and to connect with one another.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I'm a connector, so that is why this Ready Set Collaborate podcast has been very important to me.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But let me tell you about my journey.
- 6:56Speaker 2: So, wow, what a journey I've had.
- 6:59Speaker 2: But I had to put God in front of my life because he had done everything that I'm actually accomplished today.
- 7:05Speaker 2: He's been with me every step of the way.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Every time I said, no, I can't do it, god said, oh, yes, you can.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So, growing up and not being sure of who I was and what I was going to because of the struggles that I faced in childhood my stepfather I had very little confidence in myself.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I was blessed with a loving mother, father and stepmother, as well as my grandmother.
- 7:29Speaker 2: To have strong people in my life, I knew I wanted to do more with my life, having the triumph to get through adversity from life, business and problems I faced.
- 7:39Speaker 2: God got me through them all, but I had a triumph.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Well, I had tried them to be successful in our business and legal shield, create my own brand, deputy business associates and be married to my husband, dennis, for 42 years, and we had two married adult daughters, also six grandchildren.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I don't look like a grandmother, yes, but my grandchildren looked up to me and they looked up to me as for their legacy.
- 8:02Speaker 2: So my journey was to make sure that I leave something behind this Ready Set.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Collaborate was a title of the podcast, but other entrepreneurs were saying I'm going to have a live show, my series, to be able to share their experiences, how they were able to collaborate and connect and network to be successful in that business.
- 8:22Speaker 2: But also I want to mention to you about my two collaboration books.
- 8:26Speaker 2: This is all part of my journey.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I actually started my collaboration book with C Nicole.
- 8:33Speaker 2: She called me and said God told me to call you one day.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I said, okay, what did God say?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Well, that's when he wanted me to be part of this collaboration project.
- 8:41Speaker 2: See, it all comes back to that collaboration.
- 8:44Speaker 2: That book title was called Audacity to Shine.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I love the title, Audacity to Shine, because you know what we all have the Audacity to Shine.
- 8:52Speaker 2: That was my first collaboration book.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I got another call from another young lady, Arvee Robinson, that said one I want you to be in our book, Impact of One Voice, which is number one bestseller on Amazon.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I said, oh, I don't know if I'll be able to do that again.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I want to write my own book.
- 9:07Speaker 2: But I did so.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Those are my two collaboration books that I'm done with two other authors.
- 9:12Speaker 2: But then I said, okay, finally I need to write my own book.
- 9:15Speaker 2: That is God's Grace to the Fire - From Struggle to Triumph.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I tell about how I actually was able to have God's Grace to get through the struggles that I was able to Triumph, to be successful through who I am today.
- 9:28Speaker 2: And now the podcast had met all part of God's plan and His journey that he has taken me through the person that I am today.
