- 0:41Guys, have I got a video for you today?
- 0:43I was thinking about this for a while, right?
- 0:45Thinking about like what do I use as hacks when I go to
- 0:48shopping for groceries or clothes or whatever.
- 0:50Anything could be absolutely anything and and there are a
- 0:52bunch of different things that I use when I go out shopping.
- 0:54So I decided to list out five of the best ones.
- 0:57Permanent video. Package them all up.
- 0:58Give them to you lovely people because you're awesome guys.
- 1:00Make sure to check out my Autism Life Hacks PDF book for free.
- 1:03You can download from autismhacks.net.
- 1:06You can do that right now. OK, so guys, you know anxiety is
- 1:10super common. People on the spectrum.
- 1:12I'm not going to sit here and lie about it.
- 1:13But yeah, everybody on the open spectrum will deal with anxiety
- 1:16at some point in our life and a lot of the time it's due to the
- 1:18fact when they go grocery shopping or any kind of other
- 1:20shopping, those places are just no good.
- 1:23So your boy has made some awesome hacks for you.
- 1:27So the first one we're going to talk about and look at here is
- 1:29headphones. Now to lower anxiety, I like to
- 1:32bring headphones with me, usually noise cancelling
- 1:34headphones with me. And basically you block out all
- 1:38the the sound around you from having these headphones on.
- 1:40Because when you put these headphones on, it's kind of like
- 1:44a like a just zaps out all the the noise, especially noise
- 1:47cancelling headphones zaps out all the noise from around you,
- 1:48which is super, super dope. And the reason that's super cool
- 1:51because it like sucks all the noise out from around you.
- 1:53If you're using noise cancelling headphones, it sucks out all the
- 1:55noise from around you. And then basically what you're
- 1:57left with then is just complete and utter silence, which is
- 2:00bliss when you're trying to shop in a shopping center.
- 2:02So I always carry headphones with me.
- 2:04Either I have like Apple Airpods, these small ones, or I
- 2:07have like the bigger ones I put over my ears and they're just
- 2:09really, really good. The big ones obviously work
- 2:11better than small in ear ones, but still they're both really,
- 2:14really good and they're super dope.
- 2:16So definitely check out headphones.
- 2:18I'll leave a link actually for the ones that I use down below.
- 2:20So if you go want to really check out the ones I use, I'll
- 2:23leave a link so you can check them out.
- 2:25So #2 is best times. So I actually to avoid having an
- 2:30anxiety attack in a shop where it's going to be busy and stuff.
- 2:33What I do is I go on Google and I look at the store and I look
- 2:36at the stores busiest times and then I look at the stores not
- 2:40busiest times and those non busy times is when I'll usually go to
- 2:44the store. So it could be later on at
- 2:45night, it could be early in the morning.
- 2:47But basically it's when the store has less people in there
- 2:49and Google tracks people when they're in store.
- 2:52So it tells you how how many people are in store at what.
- 2:54So it'll give you an average of when's the busiest time, When's
- 2:56the busiest day? Really cool.
- 2:58You just type in the name of the store in Google and then boom,
- 3:01there you go. It tells you exactly all the
- 3:02details that you need, which is super, super awesome.
- 3:04OK guys, number three is buddy up Now I talk about budding
- 3:07systems all the time, right? And like, budding up is pretty
- 3:10amazing because it allows so much kind of versatility in in
- 3:15what you do. So anxiety can be a kicker, like
- 3:17if you're on your own and you going shopping.
- 3:19But what I like to do, I like to get, you know, a person to come
- 3:23with me as a buddy system so that I can rely on them for
- 3:26things. Like, you know, if you're out
- 3:27and about and you've got a buddy with you, then if you're having
- 3:29an anxiety attack, they can take control.
- 3:31If you have any needs, issues, worries or whatever, you can
- 3:33rely on your buddy to help you out because they're there and
- 3:35they're with you in that moment in time.
- 3:37So having a buddy is great, and you usually use my friend Alex
- 3:40to come with me to when I go traveling.
- 3:42But when I'm actually shopping, I take Nomi with me and me and
- 3:44then we go shopping or we go wherever when it's not a global
- 3:47pandemic on. But yeah, buddy systems work and
- 3:51they're really, really cool. So #4 is preparing, which is
- 3:54making a list of everything you need before you go, and then
- 3:56making a backup plan for that list.
- 3:58So there isn't any, like, issues where if your plan doesn't go to
- 4:02work, you've got a backup plan and then you use the backup
- 4:04plan, right? So the preparation is the best
- 4:07way to avoid anxiety. The attacks just hands down just
- 4:10the best one ever. And #5 here is breathing.
- 4:15Now look, if everything else fails and all things work and
- 4:17you end up having a panic attack, then you just have to
- 4:21breathe. Now, breathing is super, super
- 4:23awesome. It's kind of like this.
- 4:26You you breathe in for five, you hold it for five, and you
- 4:28breathe out for five. And when you're doing that,
- 4:30what's happening is that slowing down your heart rate is slowing
- 4:32down your body so that you become way more calm and way
- 4:35more aware. And by doing that, you kind of
- 4:38reduce the anxiety because he's just taken time to take a step
- 4:40back, just breathe a little bit. This is a huge technique.
- 4:43It's actually used in in loads of things like mindfulness and
- 4:46Buddhism and meditation and yoga and all these kind of things.
- 4:49That is a great technique. I use it personally all the time
- 4:52with anything. And if you don't believe me,
- 4:53just try it right now. Pause this video, try it and I
- 4:55bet you'll feel Calvin than you did watching this video.
