- 3:32amazing, amazing thing.
- 3:34So I hope you will take advantage of
- 3:36that opportunity, and let's kick this show off,
- 3:42all right, everyone?
- 3:43Okay.
- 3:44So this is Inspirations Real Life, and I
- 3:47am John C.
- 3:48Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 3:53podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 3:58Montclair State University, a passionate lifelong learner, and
- 4:03so grateful now to be a published author.
- 4:06Yes, guys, thank you so much.
- 4:09It is really a pleasure to be an
- 4:11author and to have so many people that
- 4:14love the content I produce.
- 4:15Every one of us has made a decision
- 4:19we wish we could undo, right?
- 4:21Whether it involved our career, finances, relationships, health,
- 4:27or simply saying the wrong thing at the
- 4:29wrong time.
- 4:31You see, mistakes are part of life.
- 4:34The good news is that one bad decision
- 4:38doesn't determine your future.
- 4:41I think a lot of people out here
- 4:42miss that concept.
- 4:43They don't realize that they actually can, you
- 4:49know, have an effect on that.
- 4:52I think that's a very important thing, guys,
- 4:55that many people don't understand.
- 4:57They don't understand, like, why this is this
- 5:00way or what's going on, and I want
- 5:02to tell you that there is so much
- 5:04potential out there if you just believe in
- 5:07yourself, all right?
- 5:08So the decision doesn't determine your future, the
- 5:11one you made.
- 5:12It's the pattern that determines your future.
- 5:14What matters most is what you choose to
- 5:16do next.
- 5:18Today, I'm going to explore 30 practical principles
- 5:23that will help you recover from bad decisions.
- 5:27We all make them, and grow through adversity,
- 5:30and of course, move forward with greater wisdom
- 5:32and confidence.
- 5:33Are you ready?
- 5:34I know I am.
- 5:35Number one, please own your mistakes.
- 5:38Growth begins when you honestly acknowledge your decisions
- 5:43without blaming others or making excuses.
- 5:46You know, when you are in a problem
- 5:49and you're not part of the solution, well,
- 5:52then you're part of the problem, okay?
- 5:55If you can't be part of the solution,
- 5:57you are part of the problem.
- 5:58So that's an important thing for us to
- 6:00understand, for us to learn about.
- 6:03Number two, learn without excuses.
- 6:06Learn without excuses.
- 6:07That is really important.
- 6:09So many people make mis-excuses because they
- 6:11think that's the way.
- 6:12It's not.
- 6:13Excuses delay improvement, okay?
- 6:15Honest reflection helps you grow stronger and wiser.
- 6:21Every setback teaches, and every challenge contains a
- 6:26lesson, guys.
- 6:28Look for the wisdom instead of focusing only
- 6:30on the disappointment.
- 6:31I think you'll probably be a lot happier.
- 6:37Number four, take responsibility.
- 6:41Responsibility gives you the power to change your
- 6:44future.
- 6:46Ownership creates opportunity.
- 6:49You know, number five, correct your course.
- 6:53A wrong turn doesn't mean the journey is
- 6:56over.
- 6:57No, it just means we have to retool,
- 6:59rethink.
- 7:00Make the adjustment and continue moving forward.
- 7:05Number six, forgive yourself.
- 7:08Holding on to guilt just prevents progress.
- 7:12Learn the lesson, then give yourself permission to
- 7:16move on.
- 7:17Number seven, focus on solutions.
- 7:21The past cannot be changed.
- 7:23But today's decisions can create a better tomorrow.
- 7:27So if you made some bad decisions, don't
- 7:30lose sleep over it.
- 7:31Number eight, build results.
- 7:35Every challenge you overcome strengthens your ability to
- 7:40face the next one with confidence.
- 7:45Number nine, stay accountable.
- 7:48Hold yourself to a higher standard.
- 7:51Accountability creates lasting personal growth.
- 7:54And you know, this is what you may
- 7:56be doing when you're alone, but when other
- 7:58people see it, excuse me, live show, so
- 8:05we're going to sneeze, we sneeze right on
- 8:07the air.
- 8:08All right, sorry about that, guys.
- 8:10But this is a live show.
- 8:13What I want to let you know is
- 8:15that this is what creates lasting personal growth.
- 8:19See, what you do in your personal and
- 8:22private life filters into, I should say, dominoes
- 8:26into your public life.
- 8:29We want to be accountable, not because we
- 8:31have to, but because it's the right thing
- 8:34to do, okay?
- 8:36Better decisions begin with better thinking.
- 8:40Challenge old habits and embrace wiser perspectives.
- 8:45Number 11, learn quickly.
- 8:48The sooner you recognize a mistake, the sooner
- 8:52you can make positive changes.
- 8:54But again, don't beat yourself up because maybe
- 8:57you're not getting it the first time.
- 8:59I don't want you beating yourself up.
- 9:00I want you to appreciate what you're doing,
- 9:03and I want you to know that if
- 9:05something's not right, you can learn from that.
- 9:09You can learn from that.
- 9:11I think that's an important thing.
- 9:13And that's something that a lot of people
- 9:15miss, that they can make that big change,
- 9:20okay?
- 9:22A very, very big change.
- 9:23A change that I think will help so
- 9:26many people get where they want to be
- 9:29and stop being stuck.
- 9:31Being stuck, guys, is no fun, but being
- 9:34stuck and not knowing how to get unstuck,
- 9:38that's a problem.
- 9:40That's a problem.
- 9:49I think if we understand how our thoughts
- 9:54are creating our world, we'll be able to
- 9:57change it, okay?
- 9:59We'll be able to change it.
- 10:01That's a very big thing, okay?
- 10:05Very, very, very, very important.
- 10:13Let's move on to point number 12.
- 10:16Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never,
- 10:18never, never, never, never, never repeat avoidable mistakes.
- 10:22Doing the same thing over and over again,
- 10:24expecting different results, guys, that's insanity.
- 10:26So stop it.
- 10:28Don't do that, okay?
- 10:29Wisdom isn't avoiding every mistake.
- 10:33It's refusing to repeat ones you've already learned
- 10:37from.
- 10:39And again, that's not hard, right?
- 10:42Einstein said doing the same thing over and
- 10:44over again, expecting different results, guys, that is
- 10:46insanity, right?
- 10:49Number 13, stay positive.
- 10:51A positive mindset doesn't ignore problems.
- 10:54It believes solutions are always possible.
- 10:58Number 14, rebuild confidence.
- 11:03Confidence returns one good decision at a time.
- 11:09Keep making choices that move you forward, that
- 11:14push the needle in a direction to help
- 11:17you.
- 11:18I think that's an important thing, right?
- 11:20We always want to keep moving the needle
- 11:22forward.
- 11:23Number 15, let me have some more tea
- 11:25here.
- 11:26This is really good.
- 11:29Adjust your strategy.
- 11:31If something isn't working, don't abandon your goal.
- 11:35Just change your approach and keep going.
- 11:38Tweak, go back to the drawing board, right?
- 11:42You have to make a little change.
- 11:46Number 16, keep moving forward.
- 11:49Don't allow one bad decision to halt or
- 11:54stop your journey midway.
- 11:56You're halfway there.
- 11:57Every new step is an opportunity to create
- 12:01a better outcome.
- 12:03So let's treat it as that.
- 12:06Number 17, don't quit.
- 12:10Loved ones, friends, associates will tell you to
- 12:16quit.
- 12:17Don't quit.
- 12:19Setbacks in our life, they're temporary, unless you
- 12:23decide to give up.
- 12:25You see, one thing I've learned in life
- 12:29is we're going to get storms all the
- 12:31time.
- 12:31They're going to come and they're going to
- 12:32go.
- 12:34Most storms will come and they'll go.
- 12:37But one thing that never goes is tough
- 12:41people.
- 12:42So become a tough person.
- 12:44Be persistent, build your resilience, and you'll weather
- 12:48any storm.
- 12:49Persistence often separates success from failure.
- 12:54Number 18, progress is always possible.
- 12:57It's a mindset.
- 12:58No matter where you are today at this
- 13:00moment, positive change can begin with your very
- 13:03next decision, your next step, your next thought
- 13:07will create an inspiration for you to take
- 13:12action.
- 13:13That's powerful, guys.
- 13:17Our thoughts, guys, create our reality.
- 13:21Our thoughts create our reality.
- 13:24That's powerful, guys.
- 13:28Our thoughts create our reality.
- 13:34Number 19, experience creates wisdom.
- 13:39Life's greatest lessons often come from the decisions
- 13:44that challenged you the most.
- 13:48Don't think that the decisions are, and what
- 13:52you're experiencing is a way or a signal
- 13:54to stop.
- 13:55It's not.
- 13:56It's testing your resilience.
- 13:58Let experience become your teacher, okay?
- 14:01Don't become someone who's not humble.
- 14:04Don't be unteachable.
- 14:06We need to be teachable if we want
- 14:07to grow in this world, if we want
- 14:09to achieve our goals, and we want to
- 14:11help others achieve their goals.
- 14:13We have to remain teachable.
- 14:15We have to remain humble.
- 14:19Number 20, when you stay humble, humility allows
- 14:23you to accept correction.
- 14:27You know, you're able to get constructive feedback,
- 14:32right?
- 14:34And you continue the growth through your life.
- 14:37But if you develop an attitude or a
- 14:39habit, I'm better than everybody, that's going to
- 14:43be a problem.
- 14:46It's going to be a very, very big
- 14:47problem.
- 14:57I think sometimes people don't necessarily know what's
- 15:06happening, right?
- 15:10And that causes a lot of people to
- 15:14get frustrated, not because they want to be
- 15:22frustrated, but it happens, right?
- 15:36So we have to realize that.
- 15:38Number 21, build better habits.
- 15:50Build better habits.
- 15:55That's important.
- 16:06That's really important.
- 16:13And it's important to know that and how
- 16:19that can make a change.
- 16:20When we build better habits, our life becomes
- 16:25completely different.
- 16:27Daily habits shape long-term results.
- 16:30Replace unproductive routines and habits with the ones
- 16:34that will support your core values that can
- 16:39lead you up to your goals.
- 16:41Number 22, guys, make stronger choices.
- 16:46Every decision is a chance to become a
- 16:50better version of yourself.
- 16:53Choose what aligns with your values and your
- 16:56future, and your future.
- 17:00We don't want to take shortcuts, guys.
- 17:03We do not want to take shortcuts.
- 17:10I think that's important to know that if
- 17:15we're here to take shortcuts, we're going to
- 17:17miss a lot in our life.
- 17:24We're going to miss an awful lot, and
- 17:28we're going to waste a lot of time.
- 17:30Number 23, stay disciplined.
- 17:32I know you're going to say I'm motivated,
- 17:33but motivation fades, guys, with the tides and
- 17:37the weather and your mood.
- 17:38Discipline helps you continue making wise decisions, even
- 17:42when emotions or circumstances become difficult.
- 17:46When you just don't feel like it, discipline
- 17:48kicks in.
- 17:51Number 24, believe in growth.
- 17:54Belief is your reality.
- 17:55Your abilities, confidence, and wisdom can all improve
- 18:00with consistent effort and the willingness to learn.
- 18:05Every day is a new opportunity.
- 18:07Number five, approach it like that.
- 18:11Yesterday's mistakes don't control today's possibilities.
- 18:15Don't think they do.
- 18:17Every morning offers a fresh start.
- 18:20That's key.
- 18:21Number 26, turn failure into fuel.
- 18:27Use disappointment as motivation instead of discouragement.
- 18:32Let every setback strengthen your determination.
- 18:40So a setback is nothing more than some
- 18:44feedback to help you change your course.
- 18:47If you're ever in a GPS in your
- 18:49car or your phone and you make a
- 18:52wrong turn, it says, please make a legal
- 18:56U-turn, or recalculating.
- 18:59That's what we're doing.
- 19:00We're recalculating the path we need to take
- 19:05to get to our goals.
- 19:06Number 27, stay intentional.
- 19:11Don't drift through life hoping things improve.
- 19:18Make purposeful decisions that move you closer to
- 19:22your goals, that allow that needle to move
- 19:24for you.
- 19:27These are things that a lot of people,
- 19:29they miss because they're so busy looking at
- 19:35either just the trees or looking at the
- 19:39whole forest.
- 19:40We have to look at the whole forest
- 19:42and the trees all at one time because
- 19:50different perspectives allow us to see things differently.
- 19:56And you might be saying, John, well, I
- 19:58don't get that.
- 20:00So getting that is not something you're going
- 20:03to, let's say, fathom overnight.
- 20:07But you will get insights over time that
- 20:12will allow you to change your life.
- 20:17The question is, are you teachable?
- 20:19Are you humble enough?
- 20:22Are you willing to know that you don't
- 20:24know everything?
- 20:25Are you willing to know that?
- 20:27Or are you like, I know everything?
- 20:33That's important, guys, really important.
- 20:36Number 28, please build a stronger future, a
- 20:43stronger future, a future that's in align with
- 20:46your core values, not someone else's core values,
- 20:53not someone else's, your core values.
- 20:56Live the life that you want to lead
- 20:59or you will be sorry.
- 21:01Many people live other people's lives.
- 21:03They don't live the life that's in their
- 21:05heart.
- 21:07The choices you make today become the foundation
- 21:11of tomorrow.
- 21:15Choose to invest in the future.
- 21:18You want to create, right?
- 21:21You don't want to destroy.
- 21:24You want to remodel.
- 21:26Number 29, I'm going to say this.
- 21:30Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never,
- 21:33never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never,
- 21:36never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never,
- 21:38never, never, never stop improving.
- 21:41Many times people do it because someone else
- 21:43said that they should stop improving.
- 21:45Don't do it.
- 21:50Your dreams are too important.
- 21:51Personal growth is a lifelong journey.
- 21:55Please continue learning, adapting, and becoming a wiser,
- 22:01better version of yourself with every experience you
- 22:04have.
- 22:07Don't let the naysayers try to tell you
- 22:09that you can't do something.
- 22:10Don't do that.
- 22:15You are the only one that ever can
- 22:19say you're inferior.
- 22:21Don't let anybody else put you down ever,
- 22:25ever.
- 22:26Number 30, mistakes become wisdom when you learn.
- 22:33I think that's an important thing.
- 22:35A mistake is nothing more than something you
- 22:38did wrong, but then you learn from it
- 22:40so you don't do it over and over
- 22:41again.
- 22:41You're not insane because that's what insanity is,
- 22:43doing the same thing over and over again,
- 22:44expecting different results according to Einstein.
- 22:46Mistakes only remain failures when nothing changes.
- 22:51If we do something wrong, aren't we going
- 22:52to try to fix it?
- 22:53Oh, I don't want to do it wrong
- 22:54again, right?
- 22:56When you learn from them, they become some
- 23:01of your greatest sources of wisdom.
- 23:06Wisdom.
- 23:09Wisdom is priceless, but some people think wisdom
- 23:15is something they can buy or something they're
- 23:19born with.
- 23:20You're not.
- 23:21Wisdom is something that you acquire in life.
- 23:25You learn it.
- 23:26As I get ready to wrap up today's
- 23:28show, every person in life makes mistakes.
- 23:31That's a fact.
- 23:32Every person in life experiences setbacks.
- 23:35That's a fact.
- 23:36The difference isn't found in who fails and
- 23:39who doesn't.
- 23:40No.
- 23:42The difference is found in what happens next.
- 23:49Do you keep going down the same path
- 23:51like Einstein said, being insane?
- 23:53I hope not.
- 23:54Or do you say, wait a minute, it
- 23:56didn't work that way.
- 23:57I've got to change my course.
- 23:59When you choose to take responsibility wholeheartedly and
- 24:05learn from your experiences, forgive yourself and keep
- 24:09moving forward.
- 24:11You see, your past becomes a source of
- 24:14wisdom instead of regret.
- 24:19Too many people hang their head on regret
- 24:22and they think they can't do something because
- 24:24of the way they feel.
- 24:30Okay?
- 24:32That's sad.
- 24:34Remember, ladies and gentlemen, your future is determined
- 24:37by your worst decision.
- 24:40Nope.
- 24:41It's determined by the choices you make starting
- 24:45right now.
- 24:48Every new day gives you another opportunity to
- 24:53think more clearly, act more intentionally, and build
- 24:57a stronger, more meaningful life that's aligned with
- 25:03your core values.
- 25:03I thank you so much for joining me
- 25:06today on the Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 25:12And if you didn't know me by now,
- 25:13I'm John C.
- 25:14Morley.
- 25:15I'm a serial entrepreneur.
- 25:17I'm an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast
- 25:21host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at Montclair
- 25:26State University, passionate lifelong learner, and grateful to
- 25:32now be a published author.
- 25:39Ladies and gentlemen, until next time, please don't
- 25:46let yesterday's mistakes define tomorrow's possibilities.
- 25:51For if you do, your potential will be
- 25:56squashed.
- 25:58The opportunities that were meant for you will
- 26:00not even show up because you're blocking them.
- 26:06Please, ladies and gentlemen, learn the lessons.
- 26:11Learn each lesson.
- 26:13Make the adjustment, the course correction.
- 26:17Keep moving forward.
- 26:22And remember something, guys, that every wise decision
- 26:26you make today, starting today, is building the
- 26:31future you deserve.
- 26:35You deserve it.
- 26:38And if you don't think you deserve it,
- 26:40you're never going to get it.
- 26:42If you don't believe you're worth it, you
- 26:45won't get more.
- 26:47Please, ladies and gentlemen, learn to master your
- 26:54choices before they master you.
- 27:00And as I said, guys, never, ever stop
- 27:04growing.
- 27:05Never stop growing, never.
- 27:09I think the difference between success and failure
- 27:13is the people that quit, that go home
- 27:17early, learn from their peers, learn from others
- 27:24that are not good examples or good role
- 27:26models, and they kill the very precious spirit
- 27:33that makes us such powerful and deliberate creators.
- 27:38But we have to believe it.
- 27:41If we don't, we won't grow.
- 27:46We won't learn.
- 27:49And that's sad, guys.
- 27:51I'm John C.
- 27:52Morley, serial entrepreneur, and please be sure to
- 27:54check out BelieveMeAchieved.com for more of my
- 27:57amazing, of course, inspiring creations.
- 28:00And I'll catch you next time.
