- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: My goodness, we're here for another week of Bachelor recap. Yes,
- 0:09Speaker 2: we are in episode four. We will be breaking down
- 0:12Speaker 2: episode five tomorrow because that's obviously when it will be out.
- 0:17Speaker 2: So far, Ashley, this season, I feel like we're breaking
- 0:21Speaker 2: down a historically good Bachelor season. Like it's been a
- 0:28Speaker 2: lot easier to watch and to follow along with than
- 0:33Speaker 2: most seasons. I also want to start this podcast. Ashley
- 0:37Speaker 2: was saying that I think you've received some unwarranted criticism
- 0:42Speaker 2: over the last week. We're gonna talk a lot about that,
- 0:45Speaker 2: about your support of Sydney. I want, I want to
- 0:51Speaker 2: share two sides of that story. Sure, but today we
- 0:55Speaker 2: have a lot to talk about. Here's as this week
- 0:58Speaker 2: went on. I still firmly stand by what I've said
- 1:03Speaker 2: about Sydney. I hope none of it is coming off
- 1:08Speaker 2: as a personal attack against Sidney, because again I don't
- 1:11Speaker 2: know Sidney. I am only criticizing the behavior that has
- 1:15Speaker 2: existed on television. But you do know Sidney, you know
- 1:21Speaker 2: her personally, and I would say, out of everything else,
- 1:24Speaker 2: do I still think you're wrong? And some of your
- 1:26Speaker 2: takes one hundred percent. That's why this is great. We
- 1:28Speaker 2: can disagree. I don't think you're right at all, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: I do think there is a place for you to
- 1:34Speaker 2: be celebrated here. I'm celebrating you for standing by somebody
- 1:39Speaker 2: that I know you have a personal relationship with, even
- 1:43Speaker 2: in the midst of probably some scenarios. I'm assuming I
- 1:46Speaker 2: don't want to speak for you can answer this that
- 1:48Speaker 2: you're like, yeah, I don't know if I like that either,
- 1:50Speaker 2: but I don't want to pile on to the already
- 1:56Speaker 2: excruciating experience. I'm sure she's watching this show.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Back totally, because especially in this episode, there are times
- 2:04Speaker 3: where I'll say in our recap like I'm like, I
- 2:08Speaker 3: know what happens, and i know what happens like from
- 2:10Speaker 3: Sydney's perspective in talking to her off the mic and
- 2:15Speaker 3: all that, and and I can still say that I
- 2:19Speaker 3: think she's made mistakes, mainly the mainly the use of
- 2:27Speaker 3: the term verbal assault and then bullying. I think that
- 2:31Speaker 3: even if there's a lot of context and scenes missing,
- 2:37Speaker 3: which who says that there are, I think that you
- 2:40Speaker 3: do get an allusion to it though with Lea in
- 2:42Speaker 3: this episode. But we'll say that for later. I think
- 2:46Speaker 3: that is her biggest mistake, or throwing out those terms,
- 2:50Speaker 3: because that makes those are just really like trigger words
- 2:54Speaker 3: for a lot of people. Because I don't think even
- 2:58Speaker 3: even if we're saying she's dumb, she's embarrassing, blah blah blah,
- 3:05Speaker 3: you know, name calling, eh, I think verbally obviousive it
- 3:12Speaker 3: is a tad harsh and exaggerating.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Definitely, No, I would agree with that.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I think that that's her number one mistake, is you.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Know, I think I do think that is her number
- 3:21Speaker 2: one mistake. I think that the theory that we've had
- 3:26Speaker 2: at the beginning is she got mixed up into something
- 3:29Speaker 2: and she did a really bad job at getting herself
- 3:32Speaker 2: out of it or just moving on from it.
- 3:34Speaker 3: She just didn't want to.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and you see that with this show. It's such
- 3:38Speaker 2: an interesting thing when you see contestants kind of get
- 3:41Speaker 2: mixed up into something that they're like, I don't like this.
- 3:44Speaker 2: This is obviously causing me stress. This experience is not
- 3:47Speaker 2: enjoyable for me because of this thing. Yeah, I can't
- 3:50Speaker 2: move on from it. I literally can't put my steak
- 3:52Speaker 2: in the ground and say I'm done talking about it. Maria,
- 3:55Speaker 2: We're good, like I don't see life the way you
- 3:59Speaker 2: see life. But we're not. This is not going to
- 4:01Speaker 2: be over top of me any longer because I have
- 4:05Speaker 2: other things to do here. She never did it, She
- 4:07Speaker 2: never put her stake in the ground and moved on.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I also would say, actually, I think her Instagram, I
- 4:14Speaker 2: think that's probably why she's receiving so much public criticism
- 4:19Speaker 2: the gaslightding video. Yeah, I think it was another choice. Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 2: I think it was another odd choice. It was not.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It was using words that are again very harmful and
- 4:30Speaker 2: very important and very impactful on people, and making it
- 4:36Speaker 2: almost like, hey, I'm the victim here, and I don't
- 4:38Speaker 2: think a victim mentality ever works out well. And I
- 4:42Speaker 2: think it was a really weird take. But I just
- 4:44Speaker 2: want to start before we break down. One of the
- 4:47Speaker 2: reasons I love co hosting this show with you, and
- 4:50Speaker 2: one of the reasons that I've enjoyed it for eight
- 4:52Speaker 2: years and we've done it for eight years, is because
- 4:54Speaker 2: I know the type of friend you are, and that
- 4:56Speaker 2: you are the type of friend that will fall on
- 4:58Speaker 2: the sword for some somebody else as long as that
- 5:02Speaker 2: other person is like protected, I know you do it
- 5:08Speaker 2: for me. I would like to hope i'd do it
- 5:09Speaker 2: for you. But you've represented it from the start of
- 5:13Speaker 2: the season, and I know there's probably been times. If
- 5:16Speaker 2: this was not somebody you've known, there's probably been times
- 5:18Speaker 2: you're like, gosh, dang it, this is not good, and
- 5:21Speaker 2: you'd probably be a little bit more pointed in your criticism.
- 5:25Speaker 2: But because you knew her, you stood up for it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And I think that is admirable, and I think it's
- 5:29Speaker 2: something to respect and something to notice. And I can
- 5:33Speaker 2: be the one to say the things that are probably
- 5:36Speaker 2: not like keeping things, you know, kosher, they're probably pushing
- 5:41Speaker 2: the envelope a little bit because I'm just a fan here.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I don't know her.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been, it's been, it's been okay, like you know,
- 5:51Speaker 3: and I'm trying to help her along as well, because,
- 5:55Speaker 3: like you know, I know how frustrating of a situation
- 5:57Speaker 3: she's in. And I think that the Instagram was also
- 6:01Speaker 3: a mistake, and like we've been talking about like how
- 6:04Speaker 3: she can utilize her Instagram right now and whether or
- 6:07Speaker 3: not it's a good idea to even be on it,
- 6:09Speaker 3: because it's kind of hard to win anyone over in
- 6:13Speaker 3: the position that she's been put in right now. So
- 6:16Speaker 3: I just feel like she should probably just stay back
- 6:18Speaker 3: a little bit but right now. But I do think
- 6:21Speaker 3: that there's a little bit of a possible light at
- 6:23Speaker 3: the end of the tunnel for her because of what
- 6:27Speaker 3: may be unfolding tomorrow and what may have in the
- 6:31Speaker 3: conversation that Leah has. I also don't think that the
- 6:33Speaker 3: conversation with Leah and Medina in this episode is great.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I don't agree with you at
- 6:38Speaker 2: all here, I think, but.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I do think that it alludes that there is more
- 6:45Speaker 3: two things then we got to see because everyone is
- 6:50Speaker 3: saying like, okay, there's multiple girls saying like we were
- 6:55Speaker 3: shocked that Sydney left, We're disappointed that Sydney left, And
- 6:59Speaker 3: then we see Leah be so fiery about Maria, and
- 7:06Speaker 3: I think that tomorrow we're gonna see Jess get quite
- 7:10Speaker 3: upset with Maria. If we're going off the scenes to
- 7:12Speaker 3: the next episode.
- 7:14Speaker 2: See, I'm gonna say it was with Leah.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You think it's with Leyah, Well we'll see.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Do you know, are you hinting at something here that
- 7:20Speaker 2: you know of? Because here's the truth, and you and
- 7:24Speaker 2: I have both been in this position. Even if Sydney
- 7:26Speaker 2: has told you how this goes down. At this point
- 7:28Speaker 2: in time, she no longer knows.
- 7:30Speaker 3: She has no idea how it's gonna get.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're all, you know. Now, we're watching from
- 7:34Speaker 2: a fresh start. I think we have a lot to
- 7:36Speaker 2: talk about when it comes to break down this episode,
- 7:39Speaker 2: especially when it comes to breaking down the end of
- 7:41Speaker 2: this episode. I just wanted to start out with this way.
- 7:46Speaker 3: But that's very sweet, but also unneeded to compliment that. Well,
- 7:52Speaker 3: of course I'm gonna stick through her through this. I've
- 7:55Speaker 3: known her side of the story since she got home.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Sure, Sure, and I do. I think I've disagreed with
- 8:00Speaker 2: you every episode so far. But that's what makes us great.
- 8:02Speaker 3: She's not a liar. That's the thing. Like what I
- 8:05Speaker 3: want to get out there and what Sidney really wants
- 8:08Speaker 3: out there. That's all she wants people to know is
- 8:09Speaker 3: that she's not a liar. Now, did she exaggerate things?
- 8:12Speaker 3: That could be one thing?
- 8:14Speaker 2: What's the difference?
- 8:16Speaker 3: But I don't think, oh there's a difference, okay.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I I also just don't think Sidney deserves to be
- 8:25Speaker 2: like it's nuts dumped on here. It is nuts, and
- 8:28Speaker 2: we've talked about it before. I think comparable to other seasons.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I think the storytelling when it comes to the Maria
- 8:35Speaker 2: Sidney drama lacked because we didn't even really know a
- 8:41Speaker 2: lot of the stuff that they were saying. So it
- 8:43Speaker 2: does kind of make Sidney look like a liar, but
- 8:45Speaker 2: and it also kind of makes Maria at times look
- 8:50Speaker 2: like a liar also because we don't know the background
- 8:53Speaker 2: to any of this. Their conversations with Joey and with
- 8:56Speaker 2: each other are hinting at things that we never saw
- 8:58Speaker 2: or experienced, and so we don't know what's actually happening
- 9:02Speaker 2: behind the scenes. We're kind of left in this very
- 9:05Speaker 2: confusing cyclone of drama that we don't even really know
- 9:08Speaker 2: where it's coming from other than the fact that the
- 9:10Speaker 2: two of these girls just don't see ey'd eye.
- 9:13Speaker 3: To me, everybody out there needs to assume like they're
- 9:16Speaker 3: assuming that this content doesn't exist, like her saying shut
- 9:21Speaker 3: the fuck up, Maria saying that people are assuming that
- 9:26Speaker 3: that is a total lie because they didn't see it.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So then I think you just have to step back
- 9:31Speaker 3: and be like, Okay, did it happen or did not happen?
- 9:35Speaker 3: Is she a liar? Or do they not show it?
- 9:39Speaker 3: And I guess most people just think they that she's
- 9:42Speaker 3: a liar.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think there's just been moments here,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and I do think the social media thing didn't help,
- 9:47Speaker 2: where people are like Sidney is making things out of nothing,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and she's piling on with language and she can't move
- 9:55Speaker 2: on and it's now become a twisted story that she
- 9:58Speaker 2: can't get out of. I think that's the storyline that
- 10:00Speaker 2: it's existing for the viewer. Is it feels like liar
- 10:04Speaker 2: is a very strong word here. But it feels like
- 10:07Speaker 2: from a viewers standpoint, I would say without knowing any backstory,
- 10:10Speaker 2: and I bet that is hard for you to do
- 10:11Speaker 2: because you did know the backstory is as I watch it,
- 10:14Speaker 2: it does feel like Sidney got mixed up into something.
- 10:17Speaker 2: She said things in the past like I have to
- 10:20Speaker 2: speak up for everybody else in the house, and everybody
- 10:22Speaker 2: else in the house was like, no, you don't, and
- 10:23Speaker 2: then she said, hey, Maria's saying this and this and
- 10:26Speaker 2: we don't see it, and it just feels like she
- 10:28Speaker 2: can't move on from it. And so I think the
- 10:31Speaker 2: perception from my side is that she just got mixed
- 10:35Speaker 2: up into something and she's got so far deep into it.
- 10:37Speaker 2: That now she can't get out of it, so that
- 10:39Speaker 2: you think she is making it up? How would I
- 10:42Speaker 2: know any different? You just have to trust me, And
- 10:48Speaker 2: I think I was getting closer and closer to that
- 10:50Speaker 2: until the social media post came out and I was like,
- 10:52Speaker 2: this feels like one and the same from what was
- 10:55Speaker 2: happening in the season, and now I have to go
- 10:57Speaker 2: back to this just is like this is I'm not
- 11:00Speaker 2: I can't say that she's in the right here.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Well, I think what we should do is get into
- 11:07Speaker 3: the episode and then when things come up. Yeah, I
- 11:11Speaker 3: will point out certain things that I can at least
- 11:14Speaker 3: say like, okay, so think about this and think about that.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Sure, how about that. I think that's great, But okay.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I would also like to note that typically you and
- 11:24Speaker 2: I together can see through these storylines and probably make
- 11:30Speaker 2: sense of a lot of the things happening when episodes occur.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I will note this, I don't see through this storyline yet,
- 11:37Speaker 2: so I want you to point out stuff, but I
- 11:39Speaker 2: also am going to push back as we break down
- 11:42Speaker 2: this episode.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And that being said, I just want to reiterate that
- 11:47Speaker 3: I'm not like condoning everything she did. I agree with
- 11:51Speaker 3: you don't think she should have gotten caught up in
- 11:54Speaker 3: this and then continued the cycle. However, as somebody who's
- 11:57Speaker 3: been part of the franchise and somebody who has maybe
- 12:00Speaker 3: a personality, maybe personality traits more similarly in line with
- 12:05Speaker 3: Sidney than you in this aspect, like you and Jared.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Keep comparing you, guys, because you're very similar. Like if you,
- 12:11Speaker 3: guys saw drama happening over there, you could firmly stay away.
- 12:17Speaker 3: And I'm not saying I can't stay away if it's
- 12:19Speaker 3: not mine, but if I am involved with it in
- 12:21Speaker 3: any way, it's gonna get It's gonna be really hard
- 12:25Speaker 3: for me to just let it blow over. We've seen
- 12:28Speaker 3: me do this on today. I can't let it blow over.
- 12:32Speaker 3: And then but it's not it's unnecessarily it's not right,
- 12:36Speaker 3: and then I'm not again, I'm not. I think that
- 12:38Speaker 3: there's a little there. Perhaps could have been some exaggeration,
- 12:41Speaker 3: but I think what she's claiming that Maria said word
- 12:45Speaker 3: for word was there. That's all I'm saying. Okay, let's
- 12:50Speaker 3: get into it.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Beautiful place, Malta is what an incredible spot to travel to.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Can we just say that I want to go? After
- 12:59Speaker 2: watching this.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Episode, underrated, never hurt. I mean heard of Malta, sure,
- 13:04Speaker 3: but it's not like a destination that people are like, oh, yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 3: I'm going to my honeymoon in Malta. But it looks
- 13:08Speaker 3: like a honeymoon like it looks like in Italy, which
- 13:11Speaker 3: it's very close.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I like that the show tried to make a joke
- 13:15Speaker 2: of this girl not knowing where Malta was, and the
- 13:17Speaker 2: whole time I was looking up on Google where's Malta,
- 13:20Speaker 2: Like as as her little clip goes, it's I've never
- 13:23Speaker 2: been to Europe. Malta's in Europe, right, And that's how
- 13:26Speaker 2: it moved on. And I think the show wanted us
- 13:28Speaker 2: to be like, oh, how funny they don't know where
- 13:30Speaker 2: Malta's at. And at the same time I was googling
- 13:33Speaker 2: where's Malta because I have no idea. I have no
- 13:36Speaker 2: idea where Malta a little south of Italy, right, Yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 2: it's really close to Sicily. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's a
- 13:41Speaker 2: great place for really their first international trip. I'm glad
- 13:46Speaker 2: they went here. It is one of in general, as
- 13:50Speaker 2: I look at this episode, I think the dates themselves
- 13:53Speaker 2: were some of the coolest dates that the show of
- 13:55Speaker 2: shows came up with in a long time. I think
- 13:59Speaker 2: they were goofy, think they were funny, but they were
- 14:01Speaker 2: enjoyable and they they they gave me a or a
- 14:08Speaker 2: perception of what Malta might be like, or what the
- 14:11Speaker 2: historical side of Malta is. Like. I enjoyed the dates
- 14:15Speaker 2: on this episode, and I enjoyed Malta. But we kick
- 14:19Speaker 2: it off obviously we're going to talk about the Maria
- 14:22Speaker 2: and Sydney drama more as the episode goes on. But
- 14:25Speaker 2: the girls end up kind of at the house in La.
- 14:29Speaker 2: They end up going to Malta. They're staying at the
- 14:30Speaker 2: Intercontinental in Malta. They're all very excited to be there.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That first trip on the show, like that first time
- 14:40Speaker 2: you jump in a plane together and you go through
- 14:41Speaker 2: an airport together is one of the coolest experiences because
- 14:46Speaker 2: you want one. You're back out in the world again
- 14:49Speaker 2: for the first time in probably three weeks. You haven't
- 14:51Speaker 2: seen like civilization for three weeks really, and now you're
- 14:56Speaker 2: walking through an airport. People are noticing you because you're
- 14:59Speaker 2: a group of in this case, you know, twenty some
- 15:01Speaker 2: beautiful women walking through an airport.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Cheerleading dance team. Yeah, they tell us to say, yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 3: we were the rugby team. Actually okay, yeah, cool, we
- 15:11Speaker 3: were a rugby team, and then they would look at
- 15:13Speaker 3: me and be.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Like, that's six four skinny dudes in rugby, Like heck, yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 2: The first date is Lexi and Joey. Now, you've had
- 15:33Speaker 2: high hopes for Lexi since the first episode of this season.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You have been curious and excited about maybe what she
- 15:41Speaker 2: brings to the table. So I had to imagine you
- 15:43Speaker 2: were very excited when you found out she was going
- 15:45Speaker 2: to get the first one on one in Malta.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Well, I really just want to look at her, like,
- 15:49Speaker 3: I just find her to be so beautiful.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Really, oh my god, she's like the most like the
- 15:54Speaker 2: most stunning on this season.
- 15:56Speaker 3: In my opinion. Yeah, she's the one i'd want to
- 15:58Speaker 3: trade faces with. Yeah, a way to say, I think
- 16:03Speaker 3: that that's just the best way for me to put
- 16:04Speaker 3: things like this. Okay, So I actually didn't really feel
- 16:09Speaker 3: a ton of chemistry up the dates.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I would agree with you. That was a good Yeah,
- 16:15Speaker 2: it felt like it was a very It was a
- 16:18Speaker 2: good date. It was definitely not a date that makes
- 16:21Speaker 2: me say these two are meant to be together. There
- 16:23Speaker 2: was not magic.
- 16:25Speaker 3: No, I'm sure they had a nice day. The church
- 16:28Speaker 3: thing was cute, and then walking around was nice, but
- 16:31Speaker 3: I didn't feel anything like super dynamic. And then she
- 16:34Speaker 3: talked to him about her endometriosis stage five. It's like
- 16:37Speaker 3: really serious and got it. She must have been really
- 16:40Speaker 3: suffering before that surgery. And that's like that his response
- 16:47Speaker 3: was fantastic, you know the fact that he even like
- 16:51Speaker 3: it's it's it's a hard position to be put into,
- 16:55Speaker 3: like I may not be able to have children, Like
- 16:57Speaker 3: how does this affect your my potential going forward? Right?
- 17:04Speaker 3: Like that's just heavy. And her having to have that
- 17:10Speaker 3: situation with her ex where he ultimately decided not to
- 17:13Speaker 3: be with her anymore because of that. That's just like,
- 17:17Speaker 3: you know, that is something that is like gott to
- 17:20Speaker 3: be just way on you when you go into a
- 17:23Speaker 3: dating environment. So yeah, I think they had a very
- 17:25Speaker 3: connecting date in that sense of like they shared deep stuff.
- 17:31Speaker 3: But I don't think that like this is going And
- 17:33Speaker 3: I think that's why she was so emotional. Yeah, and
- 17:35Speaker 3: she was saying things like I can like imagine Joey
- 17:38Speaker 3: with me and lah lah lah. But I think it
- 17:41Speaker 3: was just because she let that out and he had
- 17:43Speaker 3: a wonderful response to it.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Well. I feel for her because there's so much I'm
- 17:50Speaker 2: sure kind of mixed into knowing this and then trying
- 17:56Speaker 2: to communicate it, especially to somebody on The Bachelor. I'm
- 18:01Speaker 2: sure this is I mean, she hinted at it's something
- 18:04Speaker 2: that is really hard for her. It did. It was
- 18:08Speaker 2: a very heavy moment, and I think Joey's going to
- 18:15Speaker 2: respond really well because I just think he's a good dude.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Like he's like so good.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think he's just going to I
- 18:23Speaker 2: think right now he's in it to find his partner,
- 18:25Speaker 2: and if his partner just you know, or to say, hey,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I love you and you love me, let's do this
- 18:32Speaker 2: life together. But here's something that you need to know
- 18:36Speaker 2: about me. I'm guessing Joey's the type of dude that
- 18:39Speaker 2: would be like, we're going to do it together with them, Like, yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 2: it's a right ideal for you, but it's not ideal
- 18:44Speaker 2: for anything, and so we're going to figure this out.
- 18:47Speaker 2: You know, there's other options here, or there's things we
- 18:50Speaker 2: can do. That's just who he is. He's in it
- 18:52Speaker 2: to find his partner, even though I know family is
- 18:56Speaker 2: one of those main conversations. Having kids is one of
- 18:59Speaker 2: those main convers stations you would have take take out of,
- 19:04Speaker 2: take away from the moment where it did feel very
- 19:07Speaker 2: heavy and personal and intimate, very vulnerable moment, and she
- 19:11Speaker 2: did an incredible job walking through it. I just don't
- 19:15Speaker 2: feel it between them. Every other part of the date
- 19:18Speaker 2: felt like, at this point in the season, we should
- 19:21Speaker 2: be getting the butterflies and the kind of I'm all
- 19:26Speaker 2: I'm all over you, I can't stop looking at you,
- 19:29Speaker 2: and it just didn't feel it here. It just felt
- 19:31Speaker 2: like something was distant.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah, totally, And I do want to just say that
- 19:37Speaker 3: I think that with Lexi, like down the road, if
- 19:40Speaker 3: it's not Joey, it's going to be some man. The
- 19:43Speaker 3: right man is going to want to be with you regardless,
- 19:48Speaker 3: and you guys will figure out the families situ is.
- 19:50Speaker 2: No question, no question. When you fall in love and
- 19:52Speaker 2: you make that commitment to your partner, there's a thousand
- 19:55Speaker 2: things that you're making a commitment to and walking beside
- 19:59Speaker 2: them in life is definitely one of those. And somebody's
- 20:01Speaker 2: gonna look at her and get to know her and
- 20:04Speaker 2: be like, we're gonna walk this life together. And we're
- 20:07Speaker 2: gonna carry each other's pains and we're gonna love and
- 20:10Speaker 2: celebrate each other when that's necessary. But really, I mean
- 20:14Speaker 2: a very like hard moment. I'm sure for her one
- 20:17Speaker 2: that she probably was waiting to discuss and then probably
- 20:21Speaker 2: felt good to get out there, but still doesn't take
- 20:23Speaker 2: it away, right. That's the the hard part here is
- 20:26Speaker 2: I'm sure she's still holding on to this and that's tough,
- 20:30Speaker 2: so but good. But she got the rose, so she's
- 20:33Speaker 2: still here. And as she's on this date, we do
- 20:36Speaker 2: get a date card that lists everybody going on a
- 20:40Speaker 2: group day other than Sydney and Maria. Not a shocker here.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's a two on one. It sets up for a
- 20:47Speaker 2: two on one. It's been setting up for a two
- 20:48Speaker 2: on one for four weeks now, and so they're going
- 20:53Speaker 2: to a two on one. The rest are going into
- 20:54Speaker 2: a group date. And again I just want to say
- 20:58Speaker 2: this group date was one of my favorite group dates
- 21:01Speaker 2: I can remember, mostly because of I forget who said it.
- 21:05Speaker 2: One of the girls said it at the very beginning
- 21:07Speaker 2: of the day. They're like, they can try to give
- 21:09Speaker 2: us goofy like outfits. Give us all the goofy outfits
- 21:12Speaker 2: you want, but we'll still rock them.
- 21:13Speaker 3: They looked amazing. I know, I was like, these girls
- 21:17Speaker 3: look so good. Those outfits were really dope. Yes, I
- 21:22Speaker 3: loved them, and I liked the fact that this was
- 21:26Speaker 3: like a kind of a physical challenge, but like a
- 21:28Speaker 3: really funny physical challenge, and it was they had different
- 21:32Speaker 3: you know, facets to it. There was the whole looking
- 21:34Speaker 3: at each other in the eyes, which the girls who
- 21:37Speaker 3: ended up kissing him, I'm like, no, just look him
- 21:40Speaker 3: in the eyes.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I mean, I've always said this, you know. One of
- 21:44Speaker 2: the things that I never wanted was to kiss anybody
- 21:47Speaker 2: else in front of somebody else during the season, and
- 21:49Speaker 2: I definitely didn't want somebody to try to kiss me
- 21:51Speaker 2: in front of somebody else. So like that was kind
- 21:53Speaker 2: of an unsospoken like boundary. It just isn't necessary and
- 21:57Speaker 2: it's odd, so just follow the rules here. However, this
- 22:00Speaker 2: whole date was kind of about breaking the rules because
- 22:03Speaker 2: then they go on to play some other games and
- 22:05Speaker 2: then they have this sausage challenge, and I want to know,
- 22:08Speaker 2: at what executive producer meeting are they sitting in this
- 22:11Speaker 2: room and they're like, hey, we're gonna get all these
- 22:12Speaker 2: girls in Malta that we're gonna give them the outfits.
- 22:15Speaker 2: We're gonna play some games. I got the game they're
- 22:17Speaker 2: gonna play like, we're gonna take sausages and we're gonna
- 22:21Speaker 2: spin them really fast, and we're just gonna make them
- 22:23Speaker 2: smack each other in the face, and they're gonna smell bad.
- 22:25Speaker 2: They're gonna be full of cheese and grease and it's
- 22:28Speaker 2: gonna be a really uncomfortable experience. But these girls are
- 22:31Speaker 2: just gonna get smacked with sausages and it's gonna be
- 22:34Speaker 2: great TV. Because honestly, I did it think it was
- 22:37Speaker 2: great TV. And it did make me at home feel
- 22:40Speaker 2: like sick to my stomach.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Uh huh yeah, being pregnant and watching that, I was like, ugh,
- 22:45Speaker 3: I do not want to think about sausages right now.
- 22:48Speaker 3: And just the fact that they were like not grilled.
- 22:53Speaker 2: So gross.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it was pretty gross, but it was funny and
- 22:57Speaker 3: I was just thinking about everybody's like spit kind of on.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Them sweat and spit in the dirt from the air
- 23:04Speaker 2: and just like, I mean, it was a really terrible
- 23:07Speaker 2: thing to watch. It was really bad TV. Honestly, it
- 23:09Speaker 2: was not enjoyable.
- 23:11Speaker 3: You thought it was bad.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I thought it was bad TV because but you just
- 23:15Speaker 2: said you liked this date. I liked the day other
- 23:18Speaker 2: than this part, like I thought.
- 23:19Speaker 3: But then all we really saw was the looking in
- 23:21Speaker 3: the eyes challenge.
- 23:22Speaker 2: No, we saw him trying to steal like handbags off
- 23:24Speaker 2: of each other, okay, and I thought that was cool.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And I honestly like the nights that were there, Like
- 23:31Speaker 2: I like the one dude. It's like, today we're gonna
- 23:33Speaker 2: do some like cool stuff. That's what I was like,
- 23:36Speaker 2: I love it. I also really liked Autumn during this date.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I know she ends up winning to the day, and
- 23:42Speaker 2: I was kind of excited because I felt like it
- 23:44Speaker 2: could have been her going coming out party on the show.
- 23:47Speaker 2: But then she wasn't time with Joey, and it was
- 23:50Speaker 2: the like you could tell what was that? You can
- 23:54Speaker 2: tell she's not going to make it very far because
- 23:57Speaker 2: it kind of comes and goes so fast. It's like
- 23:59Speaker 2: I could to spend time with Joey. We walk out here,
- 24:01Speaker 2: it's so beautiful, all right, commercial break.
- 24:05Speaker 3: It was so weird. It reminded me of when Kendall
- 24:09Speaker 3: Dude was with Well cut that out. I don't even
- 24:13Speaker 3: remember this moment. It's fine yeah, it was just like
- 24:18Speaker 3: so telling that she doesn't have much of a future
- 24:21Speaker 3: with Joey, but I wanted to hear them talk a
- 24:23Speaker 3: little bit.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I mean, because her energy is really good, her personality
- 24:28Speaker 2: is funny. She obviously was like in it to win it,
- 24:32Speaker 2: and I was hoping this was the moment we would say, Okay, Autumn,
- 24:35Speaker 2: you've snuck into our top three. But in fact, I
- 24:38Speaker 2: think she really probably exists now towards the bottom because
- 24:42Speaker 2: the show gave no time to their you know, time
- 24:47Speaker 2: away with each other. It didn't show any of the conversation.
- 24:51Speaker 2: It really just kind of showed him walking off. So
- 24:54Speaker 2: based on that, I can assume Autumn is not somebody
- 24:56Speaker 2: that will be around a long time. Even though I
- 24:59Speaker 2: did respect her grit and determination taking those sausages straight
- 25:03Speaker 2: to the face when many weren't, I love Jess here. Actually,
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, the first week, I was like, I feel
- 25:11Speaker 2: like Jess has is gonna get too much confidence and
- 25:15Speaker 2: it's gonna be kind of her downfall. We haven't really
- 25:18Speaker 2: seen that yet. I was wrong on that, but then
- 25:21Speaker 2: this date really made me go, I like Jess, like
- 25:24Speaker 2: her just stepping back from the whole thing. Her reaction
- 25:28Speaker 2: to seeing a sausage again.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Her commentary the two is just like, no, not doing it.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And I was afraid that Joey was gonna be like
- 25:36Speaker 3: I would have preferred if Jess had really gotten into it,
- 25:39Speaker 3: but that wasn't the thing.
- 25:40Speaker 2: No, He's like I get it. Like, in fact, it's
- 25:42Speaker 2: fred of gross to see any of these people doing this.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I'd rather all of them just step back and be
- 25:46Speaker 2: like not for me. So that group date ends up
- 25:51Speaker 2: with a cocktail party at night. Kelsey T shines bright
- 25:56Speaker 2: during this cocktail party. Again, Daisy's kind of the definitely
- 26:01Speaker 2: in it. She should be at the top of our list.
- 26:04Speaker 2: So we get to see Kelsey T though really shine she.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I think this out of anybody when I say, like
- 26:12Speaker 2: you're coming out experience, this was hers. After this episode,
- 26:16Speaker 2: she definitely skyrocketed on my you know, into my top
- 26:20Speaker 2: three or four based on this.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Yeah, like he seems more into her than he is
- 26:25Speaker 3: in LEXI.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I would that's a great take. I would one hundred
- 26:29Speaker 2: percent agree with that. Yeah, And it makes sense, right,
- 26:32Speaker 2: I Mean, she's captivating, she's funny. She she's curious and inquisitive,
- 26:38Speaker 2: and so their conversations are very back and forth. I
- 26:43Speaker 2: think Kelsey t for me, we'll kind of wait, maybe
- 26:47Speaker 2: until after tomorrow's episode.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Yeah, let's do that. I don't want to rank people yet.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but she's definitely like gone way up in my
- 26:54Speaker 2: power rankings.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally agree, And yeah she gets the Rose.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Jess does say that she's following for him, and that's intense.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it felt a little early, like I might have
- 27:10Speaker 2: waited a few weeks.
- 27:11Speaker 3: This is always the one person who goes a little
- 27:13Speaker 3: too early.
- 27:13Speaker 2: But maybe that's when I was feeling like her confidence
- 27:16Speaker 2: was gonna get kind of in the way of her experience,
- 27:20Speaker 2: and maybe we're just seeing that's how she verbalizes kind
- 27:23Speaker 2: of feeling uncomfortable and being like I started out this
- 27:25Speaker 2: thing and I thought he was it, and I thought
- 27:26Speaker 2: this thing was over on night one, and we really
- 27:29Speaker 2: haven't had any time together. We haven't talked in two weeks,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and I haven't really seen him and he hasn't been
- 27:34Speaker 2: paying much attention to me. And so I'm throwing the
- 27:36Speaker 2: hail Mary. And we've talked about here Mary's on this
- 27:39Speaker 2: season or on this show before. I felt like this
- 27:42Speaker 2: was almost a Hail Mary for her. It wasn't an
- 27:45Speaker 2: incomplete pass turnover on downs, it feels more like incomplete pass.
- 27:50Speaker 2: It's still you know, now it's fourth and ten. She's
- 27:53Speaker 2: got a lot of move room to make up.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Okay, it's a risk, all right, Well, now it's time
- 28:01Speaker 3: for the two on one. Before we start that, I
- 28:04Speaker 3: do want to say there was one part where in
- 28:06Speaker 3: the beginning where Maria does sort of admit that she
- 28:11Speaker 3: has said things about Sydney, like called her names. Like
- 28:15Speaker 3: the one thing is in like the first couple scenes
- 28:17Speaker 3: of the episode, she goes, have I said she's gonna
- 28:20Speaker 3: look dumb? Yes, you know what I mean. So those
- 28:23Speaker 3: are like kind of references to the fact that Sidney
- 28:27Speaker 3: she has called Sydney like names.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I don't think at any point I have ever not
- 28:33Speaker 2: believed that there has not been conflict between the two
- 28:35Speaker 2: of them, and there has not been conversations that are
- 28:37Speaker 2: probably a little ugly or very ugly between the two
- 28:41Speaker 2: of them. I just still feel like it's being there's
- 28:44Speaker 2: words being thrown around like bully, yeah and abusive that
- 28:51Speaker 2: I feel like we're like, no, she just said, you're
- 28:54Speaker 2: gonna look dumb if you continue to harp on this
- 28:58Speaker 2: or however whatever context it was and that's not really
- 29:01Speaker 2: being a bully, that's just her saying how she feels
- 29:04Speaker 2: like you're gonna look so not convincing yet, keep trying.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I'm not convinced yet.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, well I guess what about tone? What if
- 29:15Speaker 3: somebody was like, you're dumb.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Again, I it matters the context that we don't have
- 29:25Speaker 2: and we don't see, and so if you and I
- 29:28Speaker 2: were sitting together and you're like that you're dumb, well,
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'd be like, oh, she's just kidding, Like that's just
- 29:33Speaker 2: a response. However, if you and I were in a
- 29:36Speaker 2: conversation that was heated and I was like, Ashley, I'm
- 29:39Speaker 2: gonna go tell Jared that you pick your nose whenever
- 29:43Speaker 2: he's not around, and you respond with me, well, that's cool,
- 29:48Speaker 2: but you're gonna look dumb because he already knows it.
- 29:52Speaker 2: I'd be like that's fine too, Like I am not the.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Lawyer here, you having a good lawyer brand.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's why I'm not convinced. I do think they were
- 30:02Speaker 2: things said. I don't think they were meant as harshly
- 30:05Speaker 2: as Sydney took them. And here's the cool part. Here's
- 30:08Speaker 2: a compliment to Sidney. Maybe She's just so sensitive and
- 30:12Speaker 2: she's such a sweet soul that anybody being mean to
- 30:15Speaker 2: her just affects her so deeply, and she doesn't know
- 30:17Speaker 2: how to respond. Maybe that's what we're getting out of this.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I don't know. I still just think she handled this
- 30:23Speaker 2: thing awfully like she should, like as her coach going
- 30:27Speaker 2: into the show. Actually, what you're doing this?
- 30:31Speaker 3: I told her not to get involved in any of
- 30:34Speaker 3: the drama.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. I don't know where you were at,
- 30:38Speaker 2: but someone was missing here, so back at the hotel.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Obviously we get now the validation that we knew was
- 30:56Speaker 2: going to happen. Sydney and Maria are going on a
- 30:59Speaker 2: two on one. Ones are always interesting. I do think
- 31:04Speaker 2: they shake up the show. Ashley, you're an expert at
- 31:06Speaker 2: the two on one experience.
- 31:09Speaker 3: The Bachelor loves the two on one. Do you know
- 31:11Speaker 3: how awkward the Bachelor gets?
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yes, it's I've been on a two on one as
- 31:17Speaker 2: the Bachelor. It is awful. There. You don't enjoy any
- 31:22Speaker 2: second of it now, But this one. I mean, during
- 31:25Speaker 2: my season we did go on a boat as well,
- 31:27Speaker 2: but this one they stuck them on the tiniest boat possible,
- 31:30Speaker 2: like to where they needs were alone. Oh that was
- 31:34Speaker 2: that was great. But you can handle that. I mean,
- 31:36Speaker 2: you just don't talk to them. You're like, hey, there's
- 31:38Speaker 2: no secret that you and I don't like each other.
- 31:40Speaker 2: There's no secret why we're going on this. We don't
- 31:42Speaker 2: have to talk. We can just sit here in silence.
- 31:44Speaker 2: It's when the three of them are together that it's
- 31:46Speaker 2: so amazing to me.
- 31:47Speaker 3: And this is good all chopter with crystals and so.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Tell me Ashley what it's like kind of leading up, So,
- 31:59Speaker 2: what do you think was going through those girls? These
- 32:01Speaker 2: girls heads as they were on the boat, maybe even
- 32:04Speaker 2: they're in the car going to this two on one together.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I think both girls usually think that like they got it,
- 32:13Speaker 3: Like there's no way that he's ever going to side
- 32:16Speaker 3: with the other girl. There's just no way. But so
- 32:21Speaker 3: you're feeling like kind of confident, if not like maybe
- 32:23Speaker 3: a little cocky.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Sure, okay, that's fair. But at the same time, you know,
- 32:28Speaker 2: how I see a two on one, you might as
- 32:31Speaker 2: well go home right now. Anyways, because have we ever
- 32:33Speaker 2: known anybody that's gone on a two on one that's
- 32:35Speaker 2: made it very much farther, very much farther, very much
- 32:40Speaker 2: much farther.
- 32:42Speaker 3: We have to get bachelor data to let us know this,
- 32:44Speaker 3: Like how far.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Maybe one or two? Like, okay, we can probably assume
- 32:48Speaker 2: there's been one or two much.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Wasn't Ashley Rose was actually Ubert? Wasn't she on a
- 32:56Speaker 3: two on one?
- 32:57Speaker 2: Oh?
- 32:57Speaker 3: I think she was Ashley and Ashley best friends and
- 33:02Speaker 3: she got to third and became the bachelorette, So that
- 33:05Speaker 3: might be the one.
- 33:06Speaker 2: But okay, but they're best friends so different.
- 33:09Speaker 3: That was like the spin on it was that they
- 33:10Speaker 3: put two best friends together.
- 33:12Speaker 2: It'd be like sending two sisters on a two on one. Then,
- 33:14Speaker 2: like it's different context. If you're in the drama, it's
- 33:18Speaker 2: not good for you and so you might as well
- 33:21Speaker 2: just go home. Anyways, this two on one was unique
- 33:26Speaker 2: in the aspect that it's not a surprise. Maria was
- 33:30Speaker 2: trying to make it feel as normal as possible, and
- 33:34Speaker 2: Sidney just couldn't function. She was, Yeah, she could not
- 33:37Speaker 2: function there there, No, she should have just gone home.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Maria is a better like she's much better at acting.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I also maybe that. I also just think Maria
- 33:50Speaker 2: probably this was affecting her a lot less than it
- 33:54Speaker 2: was affecting Sidney. I don't. I really think if Sidney
- 33:57Speaker 2: just stopped, this never gets Brepp brought back up again,
- 34:01Speaker 2: because I don't think Maria cared that much what Sidney thinks.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Well, I also think that just Maria has such more
- 34:08Speaker 3: of a natural chemistry with Joey that it's easier to
- 34:12Speaker 3: be on a date with somebody when like, first and
- 34:14Speaker 3: foremost we connect. Secondly, I have drama with this girl,
- 34:18Speaker 3: whereas like I think Sidney probably knew in her bones,
- 34:22Speaker 3: she just wasn't and like there's this there's like a
- 34:25Speaker 3: line where she's like, I'm totally the one for Joey.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I don't think she felt that at that point.
- 34:32Speaker 2: She said it, so, I mean she said it at
- 34:34Speaker 2: some point. She said it at some point. I would
- 34:38Speaker 2: say that Sidney at this point should have seen the
- 34:40Speaker 2: writing on the wall, because outside of everything else, she
- 34:44Speaker 2: has never had a conversation with Joey that we've seen,
- 34:47Speaker 2: and we've seen a lot of her conversations that did
- 34:49Speaker 2: not exist about that did not kind of circle around
- 34:52Speaker 2: somebody else. If it was yeah, Medina in the age, we.
- 34:57Speaker 3: Didn't see anything we hadn't seen.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I saw them sitting on the front steps together during
- 35:04Speaker 2: a pool party, Yeah, they were talking about exactly, so
- 35:08Speaker 2: any of their conversations, that's.
- 35:09Speaker 3: What I'm seeing. I'm saying like, like we didn't see
- 35:11Speaker 3: anything beyond her talking about Maria, which builds up the
- 35:16Speaker 3: characters for you guys to just have no attachment to
- 35:20Speaker 3: this girl at all besides not liking her.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Yeah, but how many conversations at this point could they
- 35:24Speaker 2: have actually had?
- 35:25Speaker 3: Probably like four?
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah, four and all pretty quick, like ten minutes. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 2: so there could have been a lot else, like we
- 35:35Speaker 2: saw the one, so maybe there's three others sitting out
- 35:38Speaker 2: there that we didn't see. But outside of everything else,
- 35:44Speaker 2: Maria definitely had the strong connection. She had definitely used
- 35:47Speaker 2: her time to make memories, make memories with Joey. Yeah,
- 35:52Speaker 2: Sydney at this point, you know, is sitting there, probably
- 35:55Speaker 2: on this date, feeling like the third wheel. And I
- 35:57Speaker 2: feel for her in this moment because outside of everything else,
- 36:00Speaker 2: it's never good to feel alone. And I definitely felt
- 36:03Speaker 2: like she she felt like the kid looking through the
- 36:09Speaker 2: window at the party she wasn't invited to, and she
- 36:13Speaker 2: definitely did probably did not feel like she belonged on
- 36:16Speaker 2: this date or in that boat with Joey, who should
- 36:20Speaker 2: be like kind of her rock right now, where she's like,
- 36:24Speaker 2: at least I'm with Joey. I don't think. I think, yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 2: Maria was just and Sidney even said it. I mean
- 36:29Speaker 2: she said like, I'm going on this date to get
- 36:31Speaker 2: rid of her. Like her focus was not on Hey,
- 36:34Speaker 2: I'm going on this date to get some good experience
- 36:36Speaker 2: with Joey. It's I'm going on this date to still
- 36:39Speaker 2: focus on Maria. And it goes to my theory. She
- 36:43Speaker 2: got put into a situation, she didn't know how to
- 36:46Speaker 2: get out of it, and she refused to get out
- 36:47Speaker 2: of it.
- 36:48Speaker 3: I think it's a I think it's a big reflection
- 36:51Speaker 3: as to the fact that she and Joey probably weren't
- 36:54Speaker 3: a match, and she wasn't really fighting for that anymore.
- 36:58Speaker 3: She was fighting for the truth to be told about her,
- 37:02Speaker 3: Your truth to be told about Maria.
- 37:05Speaker 2: I'm very proud of you. You have found a way
- 37:08Speaker 2: to work through this situation, and this will be one
- 37:12Speaker 2: of the last weeks we're talking about it.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I'm so excited.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I agree it's gonna be exhausting because you have looked
- 37:21Speaker 2: for the good and all this. You have stood up
- 37:24Speaker 2: for her in a way that some most people wouldn't
- 37:27Speaker 2: and I'm very thankful that I again, I get to
- 37:30Speaker 2: do this with you, because I know that's who you are.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I just, however, think if it wasn't somebody you knew,
- 37:38Speaker 2: you'd be like, this girl needs to go, and it
- 37:41Speaker 2: wasn't good. And this experience was one of top five
- 37:46Speaker 2: hardest characters of the Bachelor to watch because every week
- 37:51Speaker 2: the last three weeks has kind of been a spiral
- 37:53Speaker 2: to this point.
- 37:55Speaker 3: So let me say that it's I almost wish, well
- 38:01Speaker 3: I don't wish, but I find it interesting. I suppose
- 38:05Speaker 3: if I were able to watch these episodes through the
- 38:08Speaker 3: lens of not knowing Sydney, because me knowing Sydney it's
- 38:14Speaker 3: and knowing her side of the story and everything makes
- 38:18Speaker 3: it just me to me be like, oh, it's not
- 38:23Speaker 3: that bad. Oh it's not that bad. And I read
- 38:26Speaker 3: these comments, and I hear these messages left on the
- 38:29Speaker 3: voicemail at her store, and I'm just like, I can't
- 38:35Speaker 3: believe that people say these things. I can't believe the
- 38:38Speaker 3: online bulloying. But just like in general, I can't believe
- 38:41Speaker 3: that people regard her as one of the least like
- 38:45Speaker 3: Bachelor contestants from like recent memory and that she's like
- 38:50Speaker 3: such a villain. I just cannot see it that way.
- 38:58Speaker 3: And then I also I just wish that you guys
- 39:02Speaker 3: could see the person that I know, and like, this serious,
- 39:08Speaker 3: self righteous, absolutely not self aware and not humorous whatsoever
- 39:15Speaker 3: person that they've been showing you is just not who
- 39:20Speaker 3: I know at all.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Yeah, well here, you know, we've always said it. We
- 39:27Speaker 2: say it every week. Really, it's hard to not like
- 39:29Speaker 2: somebody wants you get to know somebody. I have zero
- 39:31Speaker 2: doubt in my mind when Sidney comes on to this
- 39:34Speaker 2: show that I would be like, yeah, that was a
- 39:37Speaker 2: raw deal for you. You know, you had the Olivia
- 39:40Speaker 2: Creedy edit. And that's tough because I know Olivia and
- 39:44Speaker 2: she's incredible, and I think their storylines in some way
- 39:49Speaker 2: are similar, where they got mixed up into something they
- 39:52Speaker 2: aren't familiar with and this show chewed them up and
- 39:55Speaker 2: spit them out and it wasn't a reflection of who
- 39:59Speaker 2: they are as people. So I've zeroed out about that.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I've never doubted for a second that that is the
- 40:04Speaker 2: case here. But I will also say, yeah, and I
- 40:09Speaker 2: don't think we're ever going to stop it. I don't know,
- 40:11Speaker 2: you know, you're never gonna talk somebody into it. But
- 40:14Speaker 2: the fact that people then are like actually mean and
- 40:19Speaker 2: harmful and trying to hurt somebody outside of this experience
- 40:25Speaker 2: in the show is wild to me, because The Bachelor
- 40:28Speaker 2: at its best is a place where we get to
- 40:31Speaker 2: watch people try their hardest and this super uncomfortable, super
- 40:35Speaker 2: weird environment that nobody's used to, and we get to
- 40:39Speaker 2: sit at home on our couches and be like, that's ridiculous.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I can't believe you said that. That is hilarious. I'm
- 40:45Speaker 2: glad you're doing that and not me. You are making
- 40:49Speaker 2: no sense to me. But the fact that that would
- 40:52Speaker 2: ever transition over to the real world and make people go,
- 40:56Speaker 2: I'm going to take time out of my day to
- 40:58Speaker 2: try to hurt somebody else, or hurt this person or
- 41:01Speaker 2: make sure they know that they suck is one not
- 41:05Speaker 2: appropriate too, something I can't comprehend. And three some Honestly,
- 41:13Speaker 2: if that's if that's you, if you have those thoughts
- 41:16Speaker 2: where you're like, I hate this person so much that
- 41:19Speaker 2: I'm going to make sure they know that else you
- 41:23Speaker 2: know that I'm going to make sure that try to
- 41:25Speaker 2: make their life even worse, Like I want you to
- 41:27Speaker 2: try to get some help, like, get some help because
- 41:30Speaker 2: that because I'll tell you this, there's a lot more
- 41:32Speaker 2: joy in the world when you aren't focused on trying
- 41:35Speaker 2: to make other people hurt worse, but try to make
- 41:38Speaker 2: people feel a little bit better. And so maybe try
- 41:42Speaker 2: that technique, Like when you start to feel all this
- 41:44Speaker 2: hate and hurt and pain and anger towards this character
- 41:49Speaker 2: that's again trying their hardest in this weird environment, maybe
- 41:53Speaker 2: taking to breath and switching to Okay, I'm assuming she's
- 41:57Speaker 2: probably not feeling great about herself in general. I can critique,
- 42:02Speaker 2: and I can talk about, and I can ask questions about,
- 42:06Speaker 2: but maybe I could share a little like love with her,
- 42:09Speaker 2: Like maybe I could just be like, Hey, you know what, Yeah,
- 42:12Speaker 2: do I think you did great? If issues on this
- 42:14Speaker 2: podcast now, I would say no, I think this was
- 42:16Speaker 2: a you walked this show in a horrifically terrible way.
- 42:20Speaker 2: But it's not a reflection of like me disliking you,
- 42:25Speaker 2: it's not at all. It's just I don't I think
- 42:27Speaker 2: there was better ways you could have gone about this
- 42:29Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 42:31Speaker 3: Can I share with you a quote from one of
- 42:34Speaker 3: these voicemails that was left on her work phone and
- 42:39Speaker 3: I know that Jared mentioned it because he wanted to
- 42:41Speaker 3: air it, And one of our producers goes, I don't
- 42:44Speaker 3: know about the legality of us airing voicemails. I don't know.
- 42:49Speaker 3: I think it would be okay if we've believed out
- 42:51Speaker 3: the name. One thing I noticed is that a lot
- 42:54Speaker 3: of the haters on Instagram and all the people that
- 42:59Speaker 3: left a voicemail, they're all older, like, they're all like
- 43:04Speaker 3: fifties and up. And I just find that to be
- 43:08Speaker 3: a weird trend. But a lot of the haters on okay,
- 43:11Speaker 3: So let's leave that out there. It's just kind of strange.
- 43:15Speaker 3: You think that they would know better, You think that
- 43:17Speaker 3: they'd have more important things to do. You think they
- 43:18Speaker 3: didn't have children, and like more sympathy, empathy and all that.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Pain reflects pain, and so I think that's one Also
- 43:26Speaker 2: is Sidney has the ability now to speak into people
- 43:29Speaker 2: that are hurting because they're the ones reaching out to her,
- 43:33Speaker 2: not you know, somebody that isn't hurting in life doesn't
- 43:37Speaker 2: go out of their way to hurt somebody else. That's
- 43:39Speaker 2: just not how life works. It's not how like the
- 43:42Speaker 2: human instincts work. And so people calling upon her and
- 43:45Speaker 2: saying these things are probably experiencing some sort of pain themselves.
- 43:50Speaker 2: The other side of this that Sydney could probably get
- 43:53Speaker 2: some confidence in is these people will not be remembering
- 43:58Speaker 2: Sydney's storyline six months from now, right like it's gone,
- 44:01Speaker 2: it's coming gone.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Thank you for being wise, Ben.
- 44:05Speaker 2: What was the quote? Though you said you're gonna say
- 44:07Speaker 2: a quote. You can say it. I know you can say.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I can't hear the voicemail, but you can say the quote.
- 44:12Speaker 3: So this woman was like, Hi, I'm so and so,
- 44:16Speaker 3: I'm fifty something years old from like whatever she stated
- 44:21Speaker 3: her state, and then she goes, I at you and
- 44:25Speaker 3: blah blah blahlah blah, you are a skanky bitch, the
- 44:29Speaker 3: worst person I could ever imagine. Lah la, la la,
- 44:33Speaker 3: all these insults, and then says this, you're the kind
- 44:37Speaker 3: of woman who once you get married and one day
- 44:41Speaker 3: you'll eventually divorce this man and you will divorce him
- 44:46Speaker 3: and claim that he has abused the children, molested the children.
- 44:53Speaker 3: That's the kind of person you are.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Goodness gracious, Well, I know there's a callous to say.
- 45:00Speaker 2: And NEI will build up too where she hears this
- 45:01Speaker 2: stuff and she's like that's just craziness, right like.
- 45:07Speaker 3: That just I know, I said, like it's just like
- 45:09Speaker 3: you could leaning to laugh at that person.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and you also just need to know that
- 45:14Speaker 2: those people calling her are not They're hurting in life
- 45:18Speaker 2: and this show is very important to them and they
- 45:22Speaker 2: are feeling like their value comes from that one voice
- 45:26Speaker 2: mode that they get to leave. And for that, it's
- 45:30Speaker 2: not the type of life I want to live. It's
- 45:32Speaker 2: the type of life some choose to live or they
- 45:34Speaker 2: get thrown into. But Sydney now has a touch on
- 45:38Speaker 2: a lot of people that are hurting because they're the
- 45:40Speaker 2: ones reaching out. It's just not fair to her to
- 45:45Speaker 2: have this be such an impactful thing in her life. Again,
- 45:48Speaker 2: as her coach, I would say, stay off of social media,
- 45:51Speaker 2: don't post any videos that are that youth that she
- 45:54Speaker 2: believes are going to like revolutionize the way people think
- 45:57Speaker 2: of her, because quite honestly, her stories now come and
- 46:01Speaker 2: gone and people will move on and by the end
- 46:02Speaker 2: of the season, this won't be a topic that we
- 46:05Speaker 2: even talk about. It will be gone. And you know what,
- 46:08Speaker 2: I hope one day she can find redemption on another
- 46:11Speaker 2: show where we can see the real or the better
- 46:15Speaker 2: side of her where maybe she does learn her lesson
- 46:17Speaker 2: to not get involved in drama. I still think that's
- 46:19Speaker 2: a great lesson for her to learn here, stay out
- 46:22Speaker 2: of it. She doesn't need to be the voice of
- 46:24Speaker 2: truth for everybody, or doesn't even need to be the
- 46:27Speaker 2: one that says, hey, I'm going to pick out the
- 46:29Speaker 2: villain and try to get her kicked out. If that's
- 46:31Speaker 2: what she was thinking Maria was. I stand by the
- 46:35Speaker 2: fact I think that she could have done better here
- 46:37Speaker 2: one hundred percent, as do I. Yeah, we see this
- 46:52Speaker 2: two on one. It doesn't go any other direction other
- 46:55Speaker 2: than the fact that Maria stays and Sydney goes home.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Everything else is kind of business as usual. Sidney is
- 47:02Speaker 2: kind of stuck here, and again this just really bad
- 47:07Speaker 2: time of trying to get Maria gone, and Joey has
- 47:10Speaker 2: too much of a relationship with Maria to really say
- 47:14Speaker 2: goodbye to her yet or even in this.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Instance, and they had the opera singer waiting to sing
- 47:22Speaker 3: of a Maria.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Well, I think this show probably knew what was going
- 47:26Speaker 2: to happen.
- 47:26Speaker 3: They knew, They certainly knew.
- 47:28Speaker 2: I think at this point Joey went into this date
- 47:30Speaker 2: knowing what was going to happen. I don't think anything
- 47:33Speaker 2: was changing his mind. You do have a sense, I
- 47:36Speaker 2: will say, of how this stuff's going to play out,
- 47:40Speaker 2: especially before you go on the date. I'm I'm sensing
- 47:44Speaker 2: that Joey probably knew that Sidney was not in a
- 47:49Speaker 2: good place on this show and there was no getting
- 47:51Speaker 2: her out of this, and it was just best if
- 47:53Speaker 2: Maria stayed and Sydney went home. And it's good for
- 47:56Speaker 2: Sidney that she went home. Honestly, I'm happy that we
- 47:59Speaker 2: don't talk about it again. However, it doesn't end us
- 48:03Speaker 2: talking about Maria and other girls in the house, specifically
- 48:08Speaker 2: Leah being very upset with her. So we see this
- 48:14Speaker 2: cocktail party at the end of the episode. The cocktail
- 48:17Speaker 2: party is short because it is a two part episode.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Medina is very nice too. Maria kind of says, hey,
- 48:23Speaker 2: I'm happy you're here. You look beautiful, and Leah takes
- 48:29Speaker 2: offense to this, pulls Medina aside and pretty. And I
- 48:37Speaker 2: think this is where you and I might have to disagree,
- 48:39Speaker 2: because I think Leah, just from hearing the stuff she
- 48:42Speaker 2: was saying to Medina, I don't know if Leah is
- 48:45Speaker 2: that much different than Sidney in this experience. I think
- 48:49Speaker 2: they're kind of are two people in the same camp,
- 48:53Speaker 2: because Leah says things the Medina that are incredibly hurtful, like, hey,
- 48:58Speaker 2: I just I guess I have high standards.
- 49:01Speaker 3: I know the higher standards for my friend's thing, like
- 49:03Speaker 3: I know.
- 49:04Speaker 2: And I have higher values. It pretty much what I
- 49:07Speaker 2: wanted Medina to say back to her is I want
- 49:09Speaker 2: her to question her on that a little bit, like
- 49:11Speaker 2: what do you mean by that? So you are righteous,
- 49:14Speaker 2: like you are self righteous, you believe you know what's best,
- 49:18Speaker 2: and as you know, famous philosophers once said the lack
- 49:22Speaker 2: of humility. I won't go into the whole quote because
- 49:25Speaker 2: I don't know the whole quote, but pretty much what
- 49:26Speaker 2: it says is like, lacking humility and lacking any type
- 49:30Speaker 2: of ability to self reflect will ultimately be the diminister
- 49:36Speaker 2: to any relationships. And Leah here in her conversation with Medina,
- 49:41Speaker 2: definitely put her Medina in a corner, and I liked
- 49:44Speaker 2: how Madina explained it. She said, Hey, I'm just trying
- 49:49Speaker 2: to be nice to her, Like, why would we continue
- 49:51Speaker 2: to spark this drama flame that doesn't need to exist
- 49:54Speaker 2: any longer. I'm happy that she's here and I'm going
- 49:58Speaker 2: to do this experience how I want to do this experience.
- 50:00Speaker 2: You have no right to judge me on how I'm
- 50:02Speaker 2: doing this experience.
- 50:04Speaker 3: Yeah. The only point that I try to like use
- 50:08Speaker 3: this moment, not the actual conversation, but like the whole
- 50:13Speaker 3: like cocktail party to help defend Sidney is that, like,
- 50:18Speaker 3: I think it's obvious at this point that there are
- 50:21Speaker 3: a few other girls that have issues with Maria, and
- 50:24Speaker 3: it wasn't just her on her solo ship against her,
- 50:29Speaker 3: So I think that there was other things going on
- 50:32Speaker 3: that were ruffling the feathers of a lot of people
- 50:34Speaker 3: instead of it just being like Sydney. But I do
- 50:36Speaker 3: think Sidney took the mistake of being the spokesperson for everyone.
- 50:40Speaker 2: But that's where I'm confused, because originally we would have
- 50:44Speaker 2: thought Medina was the one that was upset with Maria,
- 50:49Speaker 2: because that's where this whole thing started from her rightly
- 50:51Speaker 2: now and now Medina is able to move on and
- 50:54Speaker 2: be cordial and kind. Really, unless I'm confused here, Leah
- 51:00Speaker 2: is the only one that's really now speaking out, and
- 51:03Speaker 2: she's only really been the one to speak out on
- 51:04Speaker 2: Sydney's side since the beginning, and even in Leya's conversation
- 51:10Speaker 2: with others, she was like, I was very soft, you
- 51:12Speaker 2: know about how I explained it. No, you weren't. Like
- 51:15Speaker 2: you pretty much just told somebody they have no standards.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Yeah, she did say that she was soft, and that
- 51:19Speaker 3: was like.
- 51:20Speaker 2: You weren't soft, you were really mean, Actually you were.
- 51:23Speaker 2: This was like a really hard conversation for you to
- 51:25Speaker 2: have somebody. Like if somebody were to come up to
- 51:27Speaker 2: me and say, you know what, I guess I just
- 51:29Speaker 2: hold myself to a higher standard than you do, I
- 51:31Speaker 2: know what, Like what I mean, that's a really mean
- 51:34Speaker 2: thing to say to somebody. So I feel like this
- 51:37Speaker 2: has not convinced me that there's others. It feels like
- 51:42Speaker 2: and we're gonna hopefully see it in this next episode,
- 51:44Speaker 2: but we're gonna see how this all plays out. Maybe
- 51:47Speaker 2: I'm completely wrong, and yes, Maria is the flame that
- 51:50Speaker 2: sparks controversy amongst his house. And we see the other
- 51:53Speaker 2: woman coming out and being like, yeah, you know what,
- 51:55Speaker 2: I'm sick and tired of this, and then I'd have
- 51:57Speaker 2: to take all this back. But at this point in
- 51:58Speaker 2: time where I sit right now, this conversation with Leya Medina,
- 52:02Speaker 2: if onlything justified in my mind that Maria's gotten under
- 52:08Speaker 2: some people's skin, but only the people who she could
- 52:12Speaker 2: get under the skin of. Everybody else is like, I'm
- 52:13Speaker 2: cool with it. Like she yeah, she's boisterous and she
- 52:17Speaker 2: is outspoken, and she says things that, yes, could come
- 52:21Speaker 2: off wild and maybe a little bit like intrusive, but
- 52:24Speaker 2: she doesn't mean anything by because that's just who she is.
- 52:27Speaker 2: I did not think this was a validating conversation for
- 52:33Speaker 2: Laya Medina. I thought the stuff that was said to
- 52:35Speaker 2: Medina was unfair. It was incredibly critical, and it was
- 52:40Speaker 2: that like, let me smile and put a nice like
- 52:42Speaker 2: face on and tell you hey, like I'm just better
- 52:46Speaker 2: than you.
- 52:47Speaker 3: Now I know, I completely agree. The first time I
- 52:50Speaker 3: watched it a couple days ago, and I skimmed through
- 52:53Speaker 3: it and I was like, oh, well, this will be
- 52:55Speaker 3: good for Sydney, And then I really paid attention to
- 52:57Speaker 3: the conversation and I was like, oh, no, that's not
- 53:02Speaker 3: good either. But I do want but I do think
- 53:06Speaker 3: that Medina and then Caitlin, they did reference the fact
- 53:09Speaker 3: that like everybody was kind of sad to see Sydney
- 53:11Speaker 3: loves So I just want to let you guys know
- 53:13Speaker 3: that she like obviously had friends in the house.
- 53:15Speaker 2: I have no doubt that she has friend like people.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Like did not think that she was this horrible person.
- 53:21Speaker 2: I honestly, I don't think anybody in this house thinks
- 53:24Speaker 2: Maria is horrible or Sidney. And that's why this thing
- 53:26Speaker 2: was so frustrating to me, because in my eyes watching it,
- 53:30Speaker 2: it's like, this is a this is something that doesn't
- 53:33Speaker 2: need to be existing because there could be peace in
- 53:36Speaker 2: this house because I think everybody's getting along just fine,
- 53:39Speaker 2: and Sydney, you don't have to fall on this sord
- 53:41Speaker 2: because I don't think it's a sword you need to
- 53:42Speaker 2: fall on. I don't know if it's actually existing. Yeah,
- 53:46Speaker 2: that was been the argument the whole time, is you
- 53:48Speaker 2: you're making something that doesn't need to be happening happen.
- 53:52Speaker 2: And yeah, she had friends in the house. I'm sure
- 53:53Speaker 2: she did. I don't think everybody hated Sydney. I don't
- 53:56Speaker 2: think everybody hates Maria.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Yeah, well, we'll see it tomorrow if there's anything that
- 54:00Speaker 3: rose from this, and if there isn't, then like, I'm
- 54:02Speaker 3: so happy to leave it all in the dust.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Honestly, it would make a lot more sense if we
- 54:08Speaker 2: got more explanation for the storyline that has existed for
- 54:12Speaker 2: the last four weeks. It is good to leave it
- 54:15Speaker 2: behind us. It is not worth hating on Sydney for
- 54:18Speaker 2: because obviously, as we just mentioned, she had friends in
- 54:21Speaker 2: the house, she was liked in the house. I think
- 54:25Speaker 2: we could probably just take this one small example, and
- 54:29Speaker 2: it does feel like it started from a Madena conversation
- 54:31Speaker 2: that Sidney felt like she needed to protect Madina from
- 54:34Speaker 2: and now Bedena's good and they're all moving forward, and
- 54:37Speaker 2: it just spiraled into a place where she could not
- 54:40Speaker 2: get out of it, or she could not find the
- 54:43Speaker 2: right mindset to get out of it, and it ultimately
- 54:46Speaker 2: led to her going home. And that's probably where we
- 54:48Speaker 2: could leave it. There needs to be no other criticisms
- 54:51Speaker 2: other than this just got really unfortunate, really fast, and
- 54:57Speaker 2: Sidney's storyline was not a good one.
- 55:00Speaker 3: LEVI also just bring up on for thing though, the
- 55:03Speaker 3: comment of like of Maria saying and shut the fuck
- 55:07Speaker 3: up to Lea was brought up, and what would I
- 55:12Speaker 3: would feel like? Those are those are kind of like
- 55:14Speaker 3: fighting words. If somebody in the Bachelor Mansion said shut
- 55:17Speaker 3: the fuck up to me, I'd be like no, no, I
- 55:20Speaker 3: hate you now, I hate you, I.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Might say to Lea after she tells me that her
- 55:24Speaker 2: standards are better than mine.
- 55:26Speaker 3: It's a good come back.
- 55:28Speaker 2: I could see myself being like, all right, but those
- 55:30Speaker 2: these are folk. We can we can play this game,
- 55:33Speaker 2: and we're gonna get more. We'll get more explanation of
- 55:35Speaker 2: this next episode. I right now did not love the
- 55:38Speaker 2: Medina and Lea conversation. I did not think it was
- 55:41Speaker 2: a healthy, good one, and I felt like it was,
- 55:45Speaker 2: to use a word, it was manipulated afterwards to be
- 55:47Speaker 2: like I was kind and sweet and I just had
- 55:51Speaker 2: to say something to her, and it just felt it
- 55:54Speaker 2: felt like it could easily become the thing that gets
- 55:56Speaker 2: twisted now in this next episode, where people, again audience
- 56:01Speaker 2: members are going how did this happen?
- 56:03Speaker 1: Like?
- 56:03Speaker 2: How did we get so far off track here? I
- 56:06Speaker 2: think part of it could just be the fact that
- 56:08Speaker 2: but Tina's probably really hurt by the thing said, and
- 56:11Speaker 2: she just chose not to confront them there, but she
- 56:15Speaker 2: might confront them later, but we'll see. I don't know.
- 56:22Speaker 2: I just don't think you can lean on Ashley this
- 56:25Speaker 2: lay conversation being a good thing for Sydney. I don't
- 56:31Speaker 2: think it improves that at all.
- 56:32Speaker 3: Okay, well there you go.
- 56:39Speaker 2: All right, well let's move on to well, we don't
- 56:43Speaker 2: have anything else to move on to. I mean, I
- 56:46Speaker 2: was gonna say.
- 56:46Speaker 3: Let's move on to headlines, but guess what, guys, we
- 56:48Speaker 3: do that another episode. So we'll see you there and
- 56:51Speaker 3: until then, I've been Ashley and I've been.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Then we'll talk to you soon.
