- 0:10Which is something I'd like to remind us all about this
- 0:14morning, you know, this time of the year.
- 0:18I don't know. I think a lot of us think more
- 0:20about kids and children than perhaps any other time of the
- 0:24year. One of my favorite times is to
- 0:27you know around Thanksgiving and Christmas is to hear Jason often
- 0:30times. Not so much talk or act like a
- 0:32kid, but He reads a lot of the cards from the kids and he has
- 0:37in years past about what our kids are thankful for.
- 0:40Isn't that one of the more amusing times of the year, when
- 0:43we get to hear him, read some thoughts from children.
- 0:48And when I think about the holidays and Thanksgiving
- 0:52Christmas and New Year's, you know, I think about kids a lot,
- 0:57and I guess, even more. Now that I have grown kids who
- 1:00come home that, I don't see as much.
- 1:03Much, but I see during this time of the year and not to embarrass
- 1:06my kids too much, but to see them.
- 1:09Maybe not the one who's here today, but maybe the two who
- 1:12aren't act a little bit more like children at times.
- 1:16I think there's someone in our house who may be close to 20,
- 1:19who still loves Legos. And you know, even his dad who
- 1:24is going to be 45 years old this coming year.
- 1:29So halfway to 90 and I still loved superheroes and I love I
- 1:33goes so, you know, just around the holidays.
- 1:36I think a lot of times we think more about kids and I'm not
- 1:40going to talk about this particular lesson today, about
- 1:44our God and about his majesty simply because it's the time of
- 1:48the year that I think adults often times, maybe think about
- 1:51and maybe more like children than any other time of the year.
- 1:56But we would have to agree especially in light of the
- 1:59teachings of Christ that it is very helpful.
- 2:02Sometimes to think back about what it was like as children in
- 2:08some of the more simple and yet astounding and amazing thoughts
- 2:13that we have had in should continue to have even as adults
- 2:18in busy times of life, where work takes is here and there
- 2:22where responsibilities where difficulties in life.
- 2:26Maybe various sufferings sometimes getting back to a very
- 2:31basic biblical message that can be.
- 2:33Very I think enjoyable to talk about can be very refreshing and
- 2:38very rewarding for us as Christians to remember our
- 2:43creator. Certainly, the main theme of
- 2:46scripture is the Salvation that is found in Christ Jesus.
- 2:51That is the message of scripture from the Old Testament to the
- 2:56new. Testament.
- 2:56It is the one who was is going to come and take away the sin of
- 3:02the world. Keith read for us this morning
- 3:05before the Lord's Supper before we / took of it.
- 3:09He read for us. From Genesis chapter 3 reminding
- 3:12us about Sin, entering the world.
- 3:14And since that time Genesis 3:15, we have the expectation.
- 3:20That one is going to come who's going to be bruised, but he's
- 3:24going to bruise or Crush. Head of Satan.
- 3:27And, and from that point onward, we read of prophecies and
- 3:30promises and see types, or pictures of the one who would
- 3:35come and take away John 1:29. The sin of the world, certainly,
- 3:41the main point and the main theme of scripture is Jesus our
- 3:46savior. At the same time, another
- 3:50powerful message of scripture is before Jesus became our savior.
- 3:57He became he was. And when you think about
- 4:00eternity, he eventually became our creator.
- 4:05And there's a very important reason to ponder on the creation
- 4:11of our God. Not only because the psalmist
- 4:15and others talked so much about the creation, the heavens, they
- 4:19declare, right? They declare the glory of God,
- 4:23and the firmament shows. His handiwork day unto Day,
- 4:26uttereth speech and night unto night reveals knowledge.
- 4:28There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
- 4:32They're lying or their voice has gone out through all the Earth
- 4:36and their words to the end of the world.
- 4:39It doesn't matter who you are, where you live.
- 4:43What language you speak? The heavens can be acknowledged,
- 4:48should be acknowledged whether we acknowledge or not.
- 4:51They declare the glory of God, their line or their voice has
- 4:58gone out through all the Earth, to the end of the world.
- 5:00If it is as if these inanimate objects proclaimed, testified to
- 5:09Our awesome God Chris read for us from Psalm 8, a few moments
- 5:15ago. You know, God is to be praised.
- 5:18For many reasons. One of those is that especially
- 5:22the psalmist, continually reminds us of one of those is
- 5:26because of his power and his might and His glory and His
- 5:31Majesty as seen in the creation. And we probably have to admit
- 5:37that, you know, the more we are. I hate to even use this word,
- 5:43kind of enraptured with caught up in mesmerized by.
- 5:52These things. And so much of our time and our
- 5:57thought so much of our quote-unquote meditation.
- 6:04Is spent in meditating on the world wide web and the internet
- 6:08and entertainment. And God says, and this is one of
- 6:13the reasons, brothers and sisters, who I love church camp
- 6:16because at least of the church camp.
- 6:19At at Indian Creek, youth camper, we have apologetics
- 6:22press week. And I think it back woods where
- 6:24Brent directs if I'm not mistaken.
- 6:27There is no cell phone usage. Now, you might say, how does a
- 6:31teenager deal? Go.
- 6:32Jason? How do we go Kurt?
- 6:34We're whole week without cell phones.
- 6:35Kurt said that's why he goes to church camp, right?
- 6:39get away from the hustle and bustle of life, a little bit and
- 6:43just Think about things Ponder on things, meditate on the most
- 6:51important things, which include our awesome God, which is
- 6:57testified by if that's, even the correct.
- 7:00Way to say that b Creation. In fact in Psalm 33 and verse 6,
- 7:06the Bible tells us that the word by the word of the Lord.
- 7:11The heavens were made and all the host of them by the breath
- 7:15of his mouth. Verse 9 says, for he spoke this.
- 7:18He's so powerful. He's so awesome.
- 7:22He spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast.
- 7:28And those verses, if you look at that, as kind of a book in, in
- 7:32between those two verses you read, let all the Earth verse 8,
- 7:37let all the Earth fear, the lord, let all the inhabitants of
- 7:43the world stand in. Awe, of him, when you think
- 7:48about our amazing, not just our universe and not just our
- 7:52galaxy, but just one small, tiny part.
- 7:56Tiny, part of the Diverse and small part of our galaxy.
- 8:02We have our solar system and just the amazing design in this.
- 8:09As insane by, if you knew nothing else other than you,
- 8:13mean that there can be a rocket or a ship that takes off in one
- 8:17part of the United States and it can reach and intended location.
- 8:25Perhaps even like some of the Rover's have gone and been
- 8:29placed on Mars, while Earth is in motion, while the sun is in
- 8:34motion. While Mars is in motion and get
- 8:37to an intended spot at an intended time.
- 8:41While all of that is going on, you know how some very bright
- 8:45engineers and rocket scientist. And others can can predict all
- 8:51of those things, because there is an amazing design in our
- 8:56universe. And as the Earth orbits around
- 8:59the Sun at such a, an amazing path that astronomers tell us.
- 9:05It Parts. You know, I have a hard time
- 9:07drawing a straight line, without another line present, but This
- 9:11path around the Sun, you have the Earth that orbits around it,
- 9:16leaving a straight line astronomers.
- 9:18Tell us one ninth of an inch every 18 miles.
- 9:24And day in, and day out, we continue to function on this
- 9:27planet, like like there's nothing really big going on.
- 9:32Well, just get about ten percent closer to the Sun and see if
- 9:35there's not something big going on like burn up big or just.
- 9:40If the Earth just chose. If it could to leave this path
- 9:44by 1/10 of an inch, every 18 miles and just see how cold it
- 9:49might be on this planet, you know, there are those even who
- 9:52are unbelievers, like, Paul Davies who have said things like
- 9:58this, this amazing universe is uniquely hospitable remarkable.
- 10:02Ordered in an intelligible way, all the while apparently
- 10:07rejecting, the idea that there is an intelligent being in mind
- 10:11behind it. All, he admitted to the many
- 10:13examples of uncanny bio-friendly coincidences.
- 10:17He called them. And fine-tuned properties
- 10:20without admitting to a fine tuner, he then wrote like baby
- 10:23bears porridge in the story of Goldilocks.
- 10:26Our universe seems just right for life.
- 10:29It looks as if a super intellect, has been monkeying
- 10:33with physics. Maybe it looks that way because
- 10:37it it is that way. He said, if the universe came
- 10:41with any old bag, Old Rag bag of law, life would almost,
- 10:45certainly be ruled out. Indeed changing the existing
- 10:48laws, by even a scintilla could have lethal consequences and
- 10:53we're to believe that this is the result of mindless
- 10:56processes, and chance, and explosions over millions and
- 11:01billions of years. He said there is for me,
- 11:04powerful evidence that there is something going on behind it.
- 11:07All, it seems as though somebody has fine-tuned Nature's numbers
- 11:10to make the universe. The impression of design is
- 11:14overwhelming. Yeah, because because there is
- 11:19design. And what we know is that design
- 11:23Demands a designer that creation makes sense.
- 11:27Even there, even though there have been four decades
- 11:29unbelievers who have contended that evolution of the animal and
- 11:35plant world is considered by all those entitled to a judgment to
- 11:38be a fact for which no. Further proof is needed somewhat
- 11:42of an arrogant statement to be made.
- 11:44Would you not say I would suggest we all have a judgment
- 11:49to make, we all have a decision to make.
- 11:52We all have to look at the evidence and decide for
- 11:54ourselves. What the what it's telling us
- 11:59and what young people have been told for years in school is and
- 12:02not just young people, but adults too is how we allegedly
- 12:06evoke evolved from some kind of primate ancestor, millions of
- 12:14years ago. This is the cover of Time
- 12:16Magazine of Years ago, where they said that this is our
- 12:19great-grandparent guys millions of years ago.
- 12:22Ardipithecus ramidus kadamba. We'll just call him Bob for
- 12:25short. No offense to any Bob's today.
- 12:28They had a, an illustrator draw this and say, well, this is what
- 12:32our ancestors look like. And I remember as a kid
- 12:35thinking. Well, that kind of concern me.
- 12:37I would see something like this on a magazine or on television.
- 12:39Think I would get this kind of have a hard time swallowing in
- 12:43my throat because is this true? Is this right?
- 12:46I mean They got a picture of it on the cover of Time Magazine.
- 12:49It's not a picture. It's And it's, it's an
- 12:53illustration by there was no one.
- 12:54There were no 35. Mm cameras, millions of years
- 12:57ago, right? There was no creation millions
- 13:00of years ago because the creation wasn't done until God
- 13:03specifically. Did it thousands of years ago,
- 13:06according to his word, not, millions or billions.
- 13:09All of those things are assumption are based on
- 13:12assumptions that unbelievers, who disregard the Biblical
- 13:18teaching of God and his creation.
- 13:20And listen, if anyone knows more about And then Jesus, I'd like
- 13:25to know who that is. Because before Jesus became our
- 13:29savior, he was our creator in the beginning was the word and
- 13:32the Word was with God. And the Word was God, the same
- 13:35was in the beginning with God, all things were made by him.
- 13:39And he didn't make us like this. He created us.
- 13:45In his likeness, according to His Image, whatever.
- 13:49All of that means. And that's a whole lesson in and
- 13:52of itself. We were not created to be like,
- 13:56animals to live like animals to think, like animals, but, you
- 13:59know what happens when people. Drift so far from thinking about
- 14:04God, as their creator. And they think we evolved from
- 14:07animals. What do they begin acting more?
- 14:08Like like the very creatures? They allege.
- 14:12We evolved from the less we become like God.
- 14:17You know, in this particular article, I'm going to move on
- 14:20very rapidly for the sake of time.
- 14:21But in this article you want to know young people if you were
- 14:24anything like me and you got kind of scared like way.
- 14:26That's not what I heard in Bible class, you know, what kind of
- 14:29evidence quote unquote evidence. They have for this kind of false
- 14:33teaching or they found 11 fossil specimens from five different
- 14:39individuals in a cluster of sites.
- 14:43So, what kind of evidence did they have for the cover of Time?
- 14:47Magazine ardipithecus, ramidus? Kadamba, they found one fossil
- 14:52specimen of the, the creek, the alleged creatures face just one
- 14:58and yet they Illustrated a whole face from one piece of the right
- 15:02mandible. And then they admitted, they
- 15:04found these fossils in a cluster of sites.
- 15:09And to allegedly prove that it walked on two legs.
- 15:11They found one toe bone that proved that Missy boo.
- 15:15You could tell me a little more probably better but I think
- 15:17there's something like fifty two bones in the two feet that we
- 15:21have. There are more bones in our feet
- 15:23than anywhere else in our body 26, unless you have an extra toe
- 15:27or two. You got 26 bones in each foot,
- 15:29if I'm not mistaken and allegedly from this one, toe
- 15:32bone. They found in a cluster of
- 15:34sites. It allegedly proves that this
- 15:37creature walked on two legs. Not only is it the toe bone
- 15:40separated in time. They admitted by several hundred
- 15:43thousand years, but it was also found some 10 miles away from
- 15:47the rest. Isn't that interesting?
- 15:49You know, when I was a kid, I used to think, well, maybe they
- 15:50just dug up all these things and you have the neck bone connected
- 15:53to the backbone and the backbone to the tailbone and so forth.
- 15:57They find these bones separated in different places different
- 16:02time periods, and they allege They come up with what is one of
- 16:08our ancestors. This presents a very low view of
- 16:15mankind. But you know, when we Ponder on
- 16:19on, man and God being our amazing Creator, it's a very
- 16:26high view of man. Indeed, design demands of
- 16:30designer complex functional design in the material, realm
- 16:36demands, an adequate explanation.
- 16:38It Demands a designer. There are.
- 16:43Little testifiers all over as scripture has reminded us about
- 16:48of our awesome. God.
- 16:52From the beauty that is singing. In the animal kingdom.
- 16:57That maybe you could even just see on your farm.
- 17:01I mean my dad grew up on a farm and I'm not going to say I was
- 17:04jealous of him because he had to get up at four o'clock every
- 17:06morning and milk cows. I'm kind of glad I didn't have
- 17:09to do that. I did have a paper out for a
- 17:11little while as a kid and I mean throwing papers in the dark at
- 17:144:30 in the morning. Just wasn't my favorite thing to
- 17:16do. I much rather have an afternoon
- 17:18job if I could. Going to a farm or maybe it's
- 17:22going to our nice Zoo down in Montgomery in this area.
- 17:27And that's not where these pictures were taken.
- 17:28By the way. I mean, you see these amazing
- 17:32things that our God has created that testify.
- 17:36Maybe it's you looking outside of your window that testify to
- 17:40his glory. To his amazing power and
- 17:45magnificence, you know, an eighth of the first nine
- 17:48chapters of the Bible though not in anywhere close to the main
- 17:51theme of scripture. There's a lot said about the
- 17:53amazing. Animal Kingdom.
- 17:58And things that are God created. One of my favorite books, The
- 18:02Book of Job, one of the more unique interesting.
- 18:06Maybe the most unique book of the Bible in that.
- 18:08It's an inspired book. That is that most of the
- 18:12quotations in the book are from uninspired people and men as
- 18:18they're struggling with jobs suffering job himself suffering
- 18:22and saying things that weren't quite right that God later
- 18:25corrected him in throughout. The Book of Job job is wishing
- 18:30and wanting Answers for all of the suffering that's going on in
- 18:33his life. And God does not speak to him in
- 18:38chapter 1 and chapter 2, chapter 3, 4 5, he doesn't speak to job
- 18:44until Job. Chapter 38, where the Bible
- 18:47says. He speaks to him out of a
- 18:48whirlwind and job is wanting answers for why why?
- 18:53Why does that sound familiar to some of us?
- 18:55Maybe most all of us? Why is this happening to me?
- 19:00And it just it boggles the Mind almost to think about God's
- 19:05amazing response to job. Before chapters, he talks about
- 19:11his creation. His response to job was where
- 19:15were you when I laid the foundations of the earth, his
- 19:18response to job was spending some three chapters talking
- 19:21about four chapters, His Amazing Creation and three of those 477
- 19:27versus talking about animals to a man who suffering immensely
- 19:34the likes of which most of us. Probably none of us will ever
- 19:38come close to In this Physical Realm, like he did, and he wants
- 19:43answers. And God said, let me tell you
- 19:46about. Do you know about have you
- 19:48considered? The Lion, The Raven, the
- 19:52mountain goat, the wild donkey, the wild ox, to ostrich the
- 19:55warhorse, the hawk, the eagle. and in chapter 40 Behemoth and
- 20:00in chapter 41, Leviathan, And what's his point?
- 20:06Well, I think there are a few lessons that can be drawn from
- 20:09this, but one of those is simply job trust in The all-powerful
- 20:17all-knowing Sovereign creator of the universe.
- 20:25Why does the bible spend so much time reflecting on God as
- 20:33Creator as creator of the universe and as creator of not
- 20:39only mankind but also the animal kingdom and the plants and the
- 20:43trees and everything else in the universe.
- 20:46Because God knows the more we think about him and the more we
- 20:51think about those things which testify to his greatness, the
- 20:57more we will appreciate and respect.
- 21:01And reverence really fear our God.
- 21:06It's been I have a record. I'm sure Jason and other guys do
- 21:09to preach here. I have a record of every lesson.
- 21:12I preached here. It's been I think something like
- 21:14eight years since I've talked about some of these particular
- 21:18creation Evolution thoughts. But for the next few minutes,
- 21:23and before we offer the Lord's invitation, let me just remind
- 21:26us of some amazing creatures that are wonders of God's
- 21:29creation that testify of his greatness.
- 21:32You know, these have to be some of the most unusual-looking
- 21:36interesting-looking Critters on the planet.
- 21:40They're not really Critters. Oh, right.
- 21:41I mean, they're eight. They can grow to be 18 feet
- 21:43tall. They can have tongues that can
- 21:46grow to be 18 inches long. They can have Tails that grow to
- 21:52be. I mean, when you think about
- 21:53draft, you think about their next, not their tails, but their
- 21:55tails can grow to be 8 feet long, their babies.
- 21:58When they're born dropped to the ground about 6 to 7 feet and
- 22:01they eventually stand up. After they are born at 6 feet
- 22:07tall. Giraffes can drink more water,
- 22:11some scientists say than a camel can and one drinking session
- 22:14their necks. Their brains are about their
- 22:17next can be about six feet long in their brains about eight feet
- 22:21higher than their hearts. We think about that from just a
- 22:25blood circulation perspective. Your brain has to have blood in
- 22:32order to operate properly. If it doesn't, you will die.
- 22:36And if it goes without blood and the oxygen that the blood
- 22:40carries with it for very long at all.
- 22:42We can suffer brain damage. Have you ever thought about how
- 22:46a giraffe gets blood up to its brain eight feet Against
- 22:53Gravity? Well for us it what is it?
- 22:56Maybe a foot or a foot and a half from our heart to our
- 22:59brain? It's 8 feet Against Gravity.
- 23:02They have to have a pretty powerful heart and they do it
- 23:05can grow to be about two feet long and weigh about 20 pounds
- 23:08when full of blood, they have very high blood pressure
- 23:11something that we wouldn't brag about, but they have blood
- 23:14pressure. That's about three times that of
- 23:16the average human and twice as much as any other mammal.
- 23:19They've got to have some serious blood pressure to get the to get
- 23:22the blood up to his brain. What happens though?
- 23:25When the draft bends down to get a drink of water or to find
- 23:29Something else on the ground that it's eating at normally
- 23:31eats Acacia leaves up in the tree, but if it's bending down
- 23:34what happens to its what happens to all that blood, that is
- 23:37rushing toward the brain. Well, what happens to you and me
- 23:42when we've been down for just a few seconds.
- 23:47Well, we start feeling woozy. Maybe we are feeling like we're
- 23:50about to pass out. If we have anyone who would like
- 23:53to demonstrate this after worship today.
- 23:55Feel free. I do.
- 23:55I'll do a stopped clock and see how long you can last the draft
- 23:59can bend down for several minutes.
- 24:01They have three times your blood pressure in mind.
- 24:04How does the brain not pool with blood?
- 24:06How does it not burst being overcome and flooded with the
- 24:09blood? Because of time and chance and
- 24:13millions of years of evolutionary, random processes.
- 24:18Or because our God knew exactly what the giraffe kind needed and
- 24:24provided for a these intricate valves in its main aorta, that
- 24:30carries blood from its heart to its brain that closed off as the
- 24:35draft bends down. And yet the draft can stay down
- 24:41for several minutes drinking and drinking and drinking and yet be
- 24:45very aware of its surroundings. Because underneath the brain,
- 24:49the draft has this network of blood vessels.
- 24:55The network of the Carotid, I believe is what they call it.
- 24:58That slowly allows a just and appropriate amount of blood to
- 25:03get to his brain. And this is one and just one
- 25:07Wonder of Our God's creation. Anybody know what this is.
- 25:14And he'll, what kind of deal do you think?
- 25:17It is an electric eel, you know electric eels.
- 25:20I mean, wouldn't it you ever look at animals and think I,
- 25:24kind of wish I had. That ability.
- 25:25Wouldn't it be fun to shock people?
- 25:29I mean, listen, I got the shock of my day yesterday.
- 25:32I was in those who know, me know, I like to stay warm.
- 25:36And so I was kind of covered up with a blanket and I was
- 25:38listening to something on my computer and it had the little
- 25:42earbuds or whatever you call them in and then I took this
- 25:45blanket off and they there was like all this static
- 25:47electricity. I thought I was about to be
- 25:49shocked to death with just these little earbuds.
- 25:52I don't know what was going on. It was kind of crazy feeling.
- 25:54Can you imagine being able to do what an electric eel?
- 25:59Do it's not made anything like us.
- 26:01God specifically made a creature that can produce enough volts of
- 26:07for lack of a better term electricity that it can stun a
- 26:10horse shock a human. If you want to see some
- 26:12interesting video footage just type in something online.
- 26:15You got to be careful when you do this, right?
- 26:16But type in, you know, being shocked by age.
- 26:21And see what you find an electric eel.
- 26:24I saw years ago a crocodile or alligator chomping down on
- 26:28electric eel, and how this massive hundreds and hundreds of
- 26:31pound creature died because of an electric eel.
- 26:36That has battery like muscles that take up about 80% of its
- 26:41body that they don't contract like normal muscles, but they
- 26:44can send these amazing signals throughout its body and yet,
- 26:47never shock itself. That's what I think is pretty
- 26:51amazing. Can you imagine the alleged
- 26:54evolution of the of the electric eel?
- 26:59I mean, what happens the first time, it's never shocked, you
- 27:01know, it has this insulation around it so that it doesn't
- 27:04hurt itself, but it can harm predators and prey as well.
- 27:09And yet if it never had this ability and it never had this
- 27:12shock absorbing material, this tissue around this body.
- 27:15How did they ever get what it got?
- 27:17If it wasn't created specially as an electric eel to begin with
- 27:22design demands, an amazing designer.
- 27:26You know, scientists tell us. Next time, you, you look at a
- 27:31spider, making a web. You know, we think, like bildad
- 27:35in the Book of Job. Thought that, you know, the
- 27:37uninspired build a thought. Well, you know, the web is just
- 27:39easy to remove, he refers to it. I believe it's in Job chapter 8,
- 27:43you know, we don't want a house that's built on just mere
- 27:46webbing. Right.
- 27:48Unless the webbing is a lot thicker than it is because, you
- 27:50know, the spider's web scientists.
- 27:53Tell us that if it was as thick as a pencil that a large webbing
- 27:58could, A jumbo jet in midair. I mean, you think about a small
- 28:02web right now? When a fly is maneuvering like
- 28:06it does or maybe it's a grasshopper that's moving up in
- 28:08the air and get stuck in a web. Think about how small that
- 28:11webbing is. That captures.
- 28:14There are some spiders that with their webs, they even capture
- 28:17and eat birds. By Amir spider web in webbing.
- 28:26Scientists tell us that spider webbing at least some of it is
- 28:33three to five times stronger than steel pound for pound and
- 28:39it's made biologically by some amazing animals.
- 28:44We call spiders or what about the Komodo dragon, which doesn't
- 28:47resemble the dragons of some of our fairy tale book, but here's
- 28:51an animal that can grow to be 10 feet long way, over about 200
- 28:55pounds. Can eat 80% of its body weight
- 28:59in one meal? Take a Komodo dragon to
- 29:02McDonald's and buy them. 320 Quarter.
- 29:06Pounders, excuse me, Kurt And yet this animal, one of the most
- 29:12curious things about it, is that it loves to have leftover food
- 29:17particles in its mouth, unlike our kids who are told to brush
- 29:20those teeth, because you don't want cavities it enjoys the
- 29:22leftover food particles because then bacteria particular kind of
- 29:26bacteria grow on them. That does not harm the Komodo,
- 29:29but harms, whatever the Komodo B, and that's why they're their
- 29:33bites are deadly. The amazing Komodo dragon
- 29:38though. I don't really care to be near
- 29:40many of them. They testify to our amazing
- 29:43design designer, our creator cuttlefish have eyes like
- 29:47something out of a Batman movie. They have bluish-green blood and
- 29:50they can spew out black ink like a squid or an octopus most
- 29:55amazing as their camouflage abilities State.
- 29:58They can actually manipulate their skin to look like the
- 30:02Barnacles of the rocks that swim near them they can act The
- 30:06seaweed they are swimming around.
- 30:09In fact, there were scientists who who studied these creatures
- 30:12and put them in fish tank, some with vertical lines on the fish
- 30:15tanks and the Cuttlefish began to move their tentacles,
- 30:18vertically to imitate the vertical lines of the fish
- 30:21tanks. They put them in other fish.
- 30:23Tanks that had horizontal lines in them and the Cuttlefish begin
- 30:28to move their splay. Their tentacles out.
- 30:31Horizontally to imitate the lines of the fish tank.
- 30:35But most amazing is like certain other animals.
- 30:38This animal also has the ability to change its actual skin color
- 30:44to some 40 different color colors in.
- 30:47Just a fraction of a second. And some scientists as bizarre
- 30:54as this sounds. Some scientists believe that
- 30:55this animal is colorblind and yet knows how to match the
- 31:01colors of things that are around it.
- 31:05The psalmist said in Psalm 104 verse 25 and then verse 24, this
- 31:09great and wide sea in which are innumerable.
- 31:11Teeming things, living things, both small and great.
- 31:14Oh Lord, how manifold are your works and wisdom.
- 31:17You have made them all. Anybody know what this is.
- 31:22You ever heard of a duck-billed platypus?
- 31:25I mean. There's a sense in which
- 31:28scientists don't know what to do with this out.
- 31:31I mean it is about the size of a house cat.
- 31:33It's got fur. That's thicker than that of a
- 31:35polar bears. It can store food in his mouth
- 31:37like a chipmunk. It's got a beaver like tail and
- 31:40webbed feet. Like an otter.
- 31:41It has a bill like a duck. Duck and Spurs, like a rooster.
- 31:45And it lays eggs, like a turtle and produces Venom.
- 31:51Like a snake. And it feeds, its young milk
- 31:57like a mammal, but it doesn't do it in a normal way.
- 31:59It basically kind of sweats out milk that it's babies partake of
- 32:06Some people have said that, God may have made this animal kind
- 32:09of like a joke, just to confuse everybody and trying to classify
- 32:13the animals. I'm glad he did.
- 32:16I don't know why he did. Other than to say this is
- 32:19another amazing creature. That declares the glory of our
- 32:22God. I think one of the most
- 32:25fascinating things about the duck-billed platypus that
- 32:28oftentimes gets overlooked, is the fact that it has this
- 32:31leathery bill that when it dives into murky Waters, especially
- 32:36Flea in the Australia area that it closes, its eyes closes, its
- 32:40ears, and then begins to look for.
- 32:44And since the electrical impulses, the very, very, very
- 32:49faint. Electrical impulses of tadpoles
- 32:53and shrimp and other little animals often times even below
- 32:58the mud a little bit and the sand and is able to sense them
- 33:02with this amazing, for lack of a better term. tro receptor
- 33:07duck-billed snout that it has I'm reminded in The Amazing
- 33:14throne room scene of the picture that John paints that Jesus
- 33:19talks about there in Revelation chapter 4 that we see those all
- 33:26of those beings who are represented as being in heaven,
- 33:30including the elders who were there falling down before?
- 33:36The Throne of God exclaiming you are worthy O, Lord to receive
- 33:41glory and honor and power for. And then there is a reminder of
- 33:46God being our creator for you created all things and by your
- 33:50will they exist and were created.
- 33:53Paul said, in Romans 1:24, since the creation of the world his
- 33:59God's invisible attributes are clearly seen.
- 34:05Being understood by the things that are made.
- 34:10Even his eternal power and godhead.
- 34:15So that they are without excuse. I love the summertime and these
- 34:20parts where you see lightning bugs and in fireflies, you know,
- 34:23Beatles are the most common bug on the planet, but some of those
- 34:28beetles are quite remarkable. I mean, I know we don't really
- 34:31like boll weevils, and we don't care to talk about dung beetles.
- 34:35There are such things as dung beetles.
- 34:36Okay, we kind of like ladybugs, right?
- 34:39I hear there's a club. Faulkner, that has a ladybug as
- 34:42their, what their symbol or something like that.
- 34:45That's their their favorite bug, I suppose.
- 34:49And then you got lightning bugs and Bombardier beetles.
- 34:52Have you ever heard of a bombardier?
- 34:53Beetle? Some of you had if you've been
- 34:55to a p camp we've talked about these before.
- 34:58Here's a beetle that just like its name says it's like it
- 35:01produces kind of a bomb in its belly.
- 35:05And as we think about this for just another few minutes.
- 35:08I'm amazed to think about the alleged evolution of the
- 35:11bombardier. Beetle.
- 35:12I mean if it if one time it did not have this ability.
- 35:15How did it ever get this ability?
- 35:18They take chemicals, like, hydroquinone and hydrogen
- 35:22peroxide and when they are agitated by some other animal,
- 35:27or maybe a human being or in this picture, a scientist
- 35:30probing device. They take these two chemicals
- 35:33from one storage chamber. They push them into another
- 35:37heart-shaped storage chamber. That they then mix with these
- 35:41amazing enzymes that heat up to 212 degrees.
- 35:48Fahrenheit, which is 100 degrees Celsius, which is the point at,
- 35:52which Janet tells me at, which water boils.
- 35:56I know that because I know how to make oatmeal and I know you
- 35:59need boiling water before you put the oatmeal in right
- 36:02Bombardier beetles in Time Magazine a few years ago.
- 36:05They had this article where they said, this generates a noxious
- 36:11spray of caustic. Benzoquinone owns, Which explode
- 36:15from its body at a Boiling 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 36:21What is more? The fluid is pumped through twin
- 36:24rear nozzles, which can be rotated like a b-17s gun turret
- 36:28to hit a hungry, aunt, or frog with Bullseye accuracy.
- 36:34The amazing intricacy of the bombardier beetle.
- 36:39You know, when I think about the beetle, I wonder how it could
- 36:43be. Truly ever said to be evolved.
- 36:48In this way. I mean, how do you go from
- 36:50having a beetle that doesn't have a bomb in its belly to one
- 36:54day saying, I don't like so and so I want to put a hundred
- 36:58degrees Celsius noxious spray on him.
- 37:00And by the way, I want to shoot it out like with machine gun
- 37:04accuracy. I mean that's like a child's
- 37:08dream, right? I don't like my brother.
- 37:10Give me at least a water gun. That shoots really hard and
- 37:14really fast. It's a dream world to think that
- 37:19such a creature evolved by time and chance.
- 37:24But it's perfectly rational and absolutely astonishing to think
- 37:31about. Here's a small little
- 37:35approximate 1 inch or so bug. That testifies to Our God's
- 37:41greatness. This this coming month in
- 37:45January, Rob, Rob designs Discovery Magazine for us.
- 37:49We write it and he makes it look a lot better than it would.
- 37:52Otherwise we talk about the Woodpecker.
- 37:55Here's a little bird that repeatedly thousands of times
- 38:00millions of times throughout its life bangs, its head with
- 38:05purposeful intention in wood and other things.
- 38:09Some of you are shaking your heads like you have some of
- 38:11these that you may think are a little bit of know, Being
- 38:13outside of your house, occasionally.
- 38:16Bang, it said, you know, it was years ago and I can tell the
- 38:18story because Bo is not here today.
- 38:20He's worshipping up in Tennessee with some friends and years ago.
- 38:24Some of you may have been there. Norman Dean was Norman's not
- 38:27with us today. I don't think, but we were
- 38:28standing outside where there used to be this nice, big pecan
- 38:32tree. I remember the nice pecan tree.
- 38:33We used to have outside before the winds and the rain and the
- 38:37tornadoes or whatever, took it away from us.
- 38:40There was a big pecan tree and the kids used to.
- 38:43I don't know if they still do but they used to play some Kitt
- 38:47ball outside and you know what first base was, don't you?
- 38:50It was the pecan tree second base.
- 38:52I think was a flip-flop Third Base was maybe a paper plate and
- 38:55home plate was the water grade or whatever you call that out
- 38:58there, but I mean, first base is the tree.
- 39:03And bow, kick the ball. And I remember standing at the
- 39:06fence just watching them and he's running full speed.
- 39:09He's about, I don't know, six or seven years old running full
- 39:11speed to the pecan tree and he looks inside of the diamond to
- 39:15see if whoever's playing, you know, the serious shortstop
- 39:18position, if they caught the ball, and if they're going to
- 39:20throw him out at first base, and then he just smacks the tree
- 39:24with his head. I must say as a dad.
- 39:28There's always a part of me that says, I'm kind of glad.
- 39:30He has some knocks and bruises and stuff.
- 39:32He needs to, you know, you know, I think kids raising up to be
- 39:36tough as a good thing. But there's also a very big side
- 39:38of me that said, is he going to die right now?
- 39:43I mean, we are made. Human beings are created in an
- 39:47astonishing. Amazing way.
- 39:50And we declare the glory of God, even if we don't even if man
- 39:55refuses to utter God, the praise is that he so richly deserves.
- 40:00We are testimonies of his greatness.
- 40:03Even as Chris read for us, from Psalm 8 this morning, but, you
- 40:07know, a woodpecker. A woodpecker when it bangs his
- 40:13head against the tree, it is moving and stopping and starting
- 40:18at 1,000 times the force of gravity and 250 times the force
- 40:24at which an astronaut feels when he goes into outer space, at
- 40:29least that's what some scientists have claimed in their
- 40:32study of the woodpeckers. These animals have this amazing
- 40:37shock absorbing material between their beaks and their craniums.
- 40:40That take all of this pounding day after day, month after month
- 40:45and year after year. I think that some woodpeckers
- 40:47can live up to 10 years long. If man could produce the kind of
- 40:53shock absorbing material, can you imagine what we could do
- 40:55with that? If we could manufacture that
- 40:58amazing, you know, we make bumpers for cars and they
- 41:00function, okay. I suppose pretty well and we
- 41:03have football helmets for football players and they do
- 41:06okay, but they could do better, right?
- 41:09I mean, if we could manufacture this and put it all around our
- 41:11cars, we might be able to put it on the bottom of airplanes and
- 41:15just fall out of the sky and bounced and hit the ground and
- 41:17come right back up. I don't know.
- 41:19All I know is 250 times the force at an astronaut feels.
- 41:23Is it takes off into outer space?
- 41:25That's what they are going through.
- 41:27As they're banging their heads and they choose to do it not
- 41:30because they evolved from other Little Birds by time and chance.
- 41:33Who at one time were taking? Little Critters and worms from
- 41:39the ground, but they have purposefully been created by
- 41:43God. To testify of his glory.
- 41:49Now. Let's close this lesson and just
- 41:51ask two questions. Number one.
- 41:54Let's remember that God's creation.
- 41:57It's not to be worshipped. Romans chapter 1.
- 42:00It's not to be unnecessarily focused on.
- 42:04I was reading an article Years Ago by an evolutionist who said
- 42:07he felt like he needed to get down on bended, knee to it to
- 42:12admire animals that he believed arose by evolutionary processes
- 42:19over millions of years. That's not why we should focus
- 42:22on God's creation. But so that we might continually
- 42:26be impressed. With and that our minds might be
- 42:32continually focused on the greatness of our God as seen in
- 42:38part, by maybe, in large part by his creation.
- 42:43By the word of the Lord, the heavens were made, and all the
- 42:46host of them by the breath of his mouth.
- 42:49And so, what are the psalmist say to do fear the lord?
- 42:53Honor him, trust him, respect him live every day of Our Lives.
- 42:58Thinking you mean the same God I'm serving as the same.
- 43:01God who is so powerful that he could create the entire universe
- 43:05with the breath of his mouth. And the last point of
- 43:08application I would make was just this.
- 43:11Every house is built by someone you built.
- 43:15All things is God. Hebrews chapter 3 and verse 4.
- 43:19God, built this place this house.
- 43:23This universe. And he did it, exquisitely.
- 43:29No doubt because of the second law of Thermodynamics, which he
- 43:34instituted created things, go from an estate of order to
- 43:39disorder, especially in a fallen world.
- 43:43But I would just like to ask us what kind of spiritual house?
- 43:49Are you building? God's physical house is
- 43:52Magnificent the spiritual house that he created in Christ Jesus.
- 43:57As we talked about an Ark Bible class here in the auditorium.
- 44:00This morning is of Eternal significance and importance.
- 44:07Your personal spiritual house and your house as a husband and
- 44:14wife, mom, and dad and children. What kind of spiritual house are
- 44:21you building up? Let's imitate our awesome
- 44:25creator. Who built all things, including
- 44:30his physical and spiritual houses and let's do it with
- 44:33purpose. Let's do it with intelligently.
- 44:36Let's think about it. Let's not go through life as
- 44:38zombies. Let's look at God's creation and
- 44:41honor the Creator. And let's look at his word, his
- 44:44special Revelation which leads us in the paths of
- 44:47righteousness, which leads us to be motivated and to be informed
- 44:52about building. The in a sense that perfect
- 44:57spiritual house because it's based upon and built upon the
- 45:02perfect Creator savior, who is the foundation of the church.
- 45:07If you're not a Christian this morning, if you have not begun
- 45:09honoring God with your life by being separated, from the sin
- 45:13that we have, willfully engaged in and being being brought
- 45:17together by God's grace, by the blood of Jesus, by the spirits
- 45:21word that we can have fellowship with him.
- 45:24If you are not in fellowship with God this morning, and if
- 45:27you're not a Christian, you're out of fellowship with God, if
- 45:30you've reached an age of accountability of mental
- 45:33maturity and sin is in your life, and it is because all have
- 45:37sinned and fall short of the glory of God, then you're out of
- 45:40fellowship with God. But Jesus came to bring the good
- 45:43news that you can, that we can all be in fellowship with God.
- 45:47But we must respond to the grace of God in compliance with his
- 45:52will confessing faith in Jesus Christ.
- 45:55The one who saves us, the one in whom we put our trust.
- 45:58Are you trusting in Him? Are you believing in him?
- 46:01Have you repented of your sins been immersed in water for the
- 46:04Forgiveness of your sins? Just as our new brother Harold,
- 46:08obey the gospel of this last week.
- 46:10Won't you consider obeying the gospel today?
- 46:12If you are a Christian, but you realize you've spent too much of
- 46:16your time and your Wandering in darkness right now, praise God,
- 46:20for his grace, his Mercy, which indoors forever.
- 46:23He is long-suffering to us-ward not willing that any should
- 46:25perish but that all should come to repentance today as we stand
- 46:29as we sing.
