- f1capper: All right, Apex Insiders is back. We got push to cash. It's been a couple weeks. Got my my fellas here, Nate Rogers, Mike Indiebet. What's going on, guys? @Indybet: So iN8Rodgers: So f1capper: We're we're back at it. So fourth of July. I know we got lot of racing happening, lot of activities, World Cup. We're celebrating the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the United States of America. Can't wait. It's gonna be fun. But we got mid Ohio. so this is gonna be a fun track. I don't know this is so you're like traditional circuit, so you're gonna see This is I this is gonna be a hard to pass kind of track. I think there's I like to say it's got some common similar characteristics to barber at time at points, you know, with some of the long sweeping turns. It's all about preserving your tires. It's gonna be hot. It's gonna be really, really hot. And I know we always go through maybe pretty much all races, we always talk about what kind of tire. is gonna be the preferred tire here. And last year I think we saw differencing of opinions, but it seemed like that the the alternates had held up as much, but will that be the same situation this weekend? We'll about to find out. I guess tomorrow is the first practice sessions. But we are here. We've got some action going. and I'm gonna probably hand it over to you, Nate, since you got your race preview and you can kind of walk us through that. iN8Rodgers: Yeah, I've been collecting collecting change on the road this this past week after Road America and still hurting from that Marcus Armstrong loss there. I lost eleven units on on that and and Rahul's ego at the end of the race. But so trying to bounce back here at mid Ohio. I do not really care for this race. You know, I try to stay a little more positive on everything, but this is probably my least favorite race of the year. I just don't there's nothing that really like ever stands out to me or really interests me about it. I like you said it is really hard to pass. Dixon won on a two-stop last year, which he did need a little help from Pillow, who was on the three-stop, which mostly everyone was on the three-stop. So the the two-stop can be done, but you're gonna need some caution help, and I think with it being this hot again, that will probably be difficult to do, because that's probably gonna beat up the tires quite a bit. So I'd imagine it's gonna be back to a three-stop, but you may see someone go for it. some stats that kind of back up how difficult it can be to pass. pass is that there's a twenty race history here. winners come from the fast six eighty percent of the time, rows one and two seventy percent of the time and fifty five percent of the time driver in row one has won the race. Three of the four wins that have come outside of the fast six have come from Scott Dixon, so you can kind of wrap your mind around how that happens because it's Scott Dixon and he did it last year and he's done it several times, from ninth, eighth, and all the way as far back to twenty-second. he has seven wins here, I think, which is pretty insane. and then as far as the podium, you know, d drivers in that the rows one through four, so just a little bit out of the fast six are gonna make up eighty seven percent of podium finishes in the last ten years and on average only one driver is gonna find that the top five starting tenth or worse. So a heavy majority, seventy percent of your top five historically comes to the fast six. So I just think all that stuff kind of backs up that you know, your fast cars are gonna be up front. It's gonna be hard to get by them unless they make mistakes or, you know, you have a a good time good time to pit, you know, or if a caution or something like that comes out where you could jump up the field. But otherwise just passing is difficult to get done here and you're gonna want to focus your bets on people that you think are gonna make the fast six or possibly put on pole. f1capper: Yeah, I mean I think that's probably I think you said it accurately. I never really get excited for this race. I I mean it's just the track just seems meh to me. I know they they they want to do it. I could I wish they could find a better track, but definitely this is one of those for me at least specifically, like I want to take on some mods. I saw some nice top three odds happening like you could get seven to one willpower. don't think that you want to take on Lung Lungard yet. I I I would rather just wait, chalk it, you know, let's see where he he fits in because his odds are too short. But yeah, like this is the situation you know we we do this a lot like with the we call it the Monaco esque type. It's all about the track position. Where did you qualifying is way more important than anything else at this point. So might as well wait to see where do they get in, where do they fit into the track position and take that on. Obviously you can't factor in yellows that could potentially happen, but if it's all about track position at the end of the day and your stats back it up. I mean, talking about the front row, I mean, very rarely are you gonna see some thirty percent chance that something really messes up for those guys in the front row, versus they just end up being there the whole time. So Yeah, I guess we can go right into the what do you got all the bits? Yeah. @Indybet: you guys you guys I'll I'll jump in. You rev in my mind. I mean I don't really have too much more to add. I have no bets so far and this is the track I typically don't try to chase up front and I wait and see what plays out in calls. You know, I did think about before I looked at the odds, I was thinking about pushing all in on Pelow. You know, you if I were to tell you this is gonna be a really boring race, somebody's gonna save tires better than somebody else and they're gonna dominate the field. Well Guess who does that? You know, that just screams polo. I would have liked then I looked at the odds. And I would have I would have liked to have seen like I don't know, like he hadn't done we we he hasn't he's done okay, but he hasn't dominated. I was hoping maybe plus one fifty, one sixty, and I saw minus one twenty, minus one forty, minus one ten. So I'm not inclined to just suck to to eat that. f1capper: Yeah. @Indybet: in an indie car race, given, you know, stuff happens and mistakes can be made and I do think it's a three stopper. I don't think we'll see a luckbox Dixon with the heat and the way that red tires have fallen off this year. you know, there's only really a couple people I'm looking to even bet even after qualifications. and it's funny, it's it's it's look, it's your same cast of characters. It's Polo and it's lung guard when it comes to road courses, right? And I have seen some data and and just watching, you know, with your eyes like the the Meyer Shank boys, the Rosenquist and and Armstrong. I mean, I I had forgotten. Nate, I had gotten out of my mind how we lost those Armstrong bets last and you just like brought it off running back to me. But I wouldn't mind going right back to that well. Felix has got good history here. so maybe, you know, I I say I haven't made any bets and I typically won't, but I will say some of the odds on some of the guys that, you know, like I saw McLaughlin was fourteen to one. f1capper: Yeah. @Indybet: Rosenquist was a little bit higher. we're definitely seeing a little bit of float to some higher numbers, which could give us some good top three bets. So assuming we think Pelow might run away with this one, which is where I'm leaning, you know, that brings me to either Alvin on Pelow or maybe making some top threes. And I could see myself maybe biting off the Felix top three. I'm not sure what the Lungard top three is at, and then maybe the Armstrong come run it running it right back from where we were before and Hoping that, you know, the engines don't screw us. f1capper: Well, that top three is plus one twenty five for Lung Lungard. That's why I'm like, Yeah, you c you you you you you gotta wait if you you could wait and you could that's what I was actually trying to look for. He's at plus seven fifty, which you got my attention on. Like Meyer Shing yeah, podium. Mm-hmm. @Indybet: Yeah, what is What's Felix? Top three? Okay, yeah, I'll if I can find that, I'd bet that. f1capper: Yeah, I think that's a that's a good play. I mean, and I'm one that's was always anti MSR when be like last year, year before, they were just we all knew who they were, right? They qualify well and they drop off, but they found something this year. They've actually found they can actually produce some race pace and stay with it throughout the entire session. So I've definitely been that guy that's been like, Yep, that's no longer The past, we're looking forward. I'm with you. Ganassi, MSR are the two teams that I am targeting as like the top two teams. We'll see what Armstrong can do for us. unfortunate situation what happened at Road America. And then I'm gonna throw this out there. I know maybe I I'm pretty sure Nate, you are, and maybe some other people are, but I don't think Andretti has been been. Living up to their expectation after Arlington. They I they've not found it. Kirkwood has not been the same dominant driver. He's been up there, like in that P5, P6. You know, he's but there is something like power just happened to be in the top three by strategy, right? I just do not see Andretti being that dominant car like most people can expect this weekend. So, Nate. I don't know if you have a a a rebuttal to that because I know you I don't know if you had Kirkwood, but I know you had power. iN8Rodgers: Yeah, so my initial game plan like like Mike said was I was gonna go with Pelow. If I got it like plus one fifteen, one twenty five, I kinda thought we deserved that after you know like I think Pelow's best finish in you know, aside from his win in Detroit, all the way back to May since he's been on this run of poles is like fifth. And so but I was ready I was ready to jump on it. and once it was below even odds, I just pivoted to my strategy of where I just take where you know what they're giving me the discount on because Pillow is so so low and when you look at Andretti they're actually improving this year on on road courses slowly but surely where it was kind of a weak point I was actually fading them to start the year but especially here I think Andretti has the number one qualifying average across all teams at mid Ohio across like the last several years. If you look at like Colton Herda he's he's made the fast six including a couple polls Kirkwood was qualified seventh last year, so right off of that. Erickson's been okay. And you know, power has a decent history here with Penske to bring over. And so I just jumped on those discounted lines of of power and Kirkwood. I got power at twenty-five to one. I did a quarter unit of that and a quarter unit on Kirkwood at twelve to one. I took both of their podiums. I got power at seven to one and Kirkwood at three to one. and then I also took power in a matchup over Newgarden. So I'm kind of high on and Dreddy being a little better here because I think Penskey, especially last year, they've kind of fallen back here. So I still think Pelow is the favorite, Genassi the favorite. and I and I would agree, you know, like I like the Myers Shank guys, but I want to bet Armstrong like fifty to one. I don't want to bet Armstrong at eight eighteen to one now. Yeah. So you know, Felix's number isn't bad. I think you can get him upwards of like thirty, thirty-five to one. f1capper: Yeah. You're spoiled now. You're spoiled. iN8Rodgers: So I don't mind that, but yeah, I've just kind of focused on Andretti to kind of start my card for them to outqualify those odds. I have some confidence in that. and hopefully challenge like a a last ditch effort to challenge Pelow in the championship for Kirkwood. and so yeah, that's kinda where I was at with Genassi. I have a other or sorry with Andretti, but I I do have a few other picks, but just stop there of kind of @Indybet: And you're not wrong that the lines are good. Like they I do actually like that the books like gave us some decent numbers on the other drivers but outside of Pelow. I even thought Lungard's four four and a half to one was reasonable when I first saw it. I was like, Mm, okay. Like I I mean those are the two drivers who have performed. But man, like I always I I have I've caught myself doing that before where I'm like, this is a great number. there's a fine line between a discounted line and just throwing your money away and just and just donating donating yeah, donating plus E V to the books and like I'm I'm full I don't have any confidence in any Andretti driver unless it's a street course. So I'm I'm not even gonna bite on any of that. May maybe f1capper: Yeah. iN8Rodgers: Yeah. No, I mean it's @Indybet: Maybe I change my tune if if like I said most of the units will be after calls or if we see something in practice that is significant or hear something, so you know, always paying attention and and trying to beat the books a little bit to some good numbers which you know get in the Discord and and watch all watch X and all that so we can if that were to happen, but no no thanks on it and Andre. Yeah, good prices, fine if you like it, but still think it's just making donations. f1capper: Yeah, I'm with you, man. I'm kinda in the same boat. Like I would personally rather take Lungard at his number shorter than getting cute with Andretti. And that's just a personal preference. It's just it's just that it seems like that style of track fits Lungard and he can find it. Whether he qualifies P twelve, he finds himself up into like the top five halfway through. So I @Indybet: I mean what he did to win that race was impressive, man. He he was he I mean, he got lucky, it was a long track and he didn't lose a lap on that first lap, but you still gotta drive your ass off to go from last and get all the way back to being a position to you know Yes. f1capper: Yeah. He knows. Right. You have pace if you're able to do that. And that's what I just haven't been seeing through Andretti. It just seems like Arlington and it's weird too because Kirkwood, you would think, is is is gonna like dominate, but Erickson all of a sudden has just shown up as like as the wild card for Andretti, as like a guy that's been doing well. And I didn't expect that. I just don't see it. I I mean power to me has always been the driver. Andretti or Penske, he's he's just been erratic. He you don't sometimes know what you're gonna get. You're gonna get either the the power you expect and you would hope for. And then there's a lot of times it's like, Whoa, we just get in the power of like he looks like a rookie at times. @Indybet: Yeah, he's gonna he's gonna do what he did last year. He's gonna qualify shit and then he's gonna do something he's gonna do something dumb trying to get through the field and crash. f1capper: Or or he comes out and he's he's struggling through the week. He does well in qualifying and he does well. But how many times do we see that from power? We haven't really seen it. So it's more like show me until you can can get that consistency. I don't care what your number is, it's just that's too volatile for me. for Kirkwood, we're kind of entering that phase. And I know I was one of the guys that was like, I'll take the under two and a half wins from Kirkwood. I was sweating it. I was like, wow, they actually they have a really great car just seeing how Arlington went, but that hasn't done he hasn't done anything since really. So to me, he's just I don't want to take that number. and especially at a like situation like this when you have the opportunity to to chalk at the the hard to pass track. I would rather wait till I get a good number. I will juice up a little bit more and then Let me validate where they are from a track position standpoint and then I take the number. But with that said, I did take that Felix top three at plus seven fifty. I only did like just point two units. Why not? I do that number can come down in half even more. Let's see how he qualifies. If it doesn't, all right. So I lost the beer money. @Indybet: Yeah, Felix is deal Felix is a good qualifier and then his race race pace usually sucks, right? So I think that's good value to get that and you could even I'd actually recommend making that like if you're gonna make a fifty dollar bet, make two bets at twenty five and twenty five, he qualifies well, cash one out for thirty five forty and then let the other one ride. f1capper: Yeah. Well unfortunately I don't have cash out options, so I'm just gonna let it ride. Yeah, but no, but if you do have the cash out this that's a yeah. @Indybet: well never mind then. But if you do have a cash out if yeah, people are listening and they have cash out options, like that's a good strategy to have for indie car betting is you know, take whatever you're gonna bet, just bet it twice and then you cash one out, let one ride. f1capper: Yeah. I and then when it comes to Penskey, man, it's just I I don't I don't see it other than Malucas. I don't want anything to do with Scott. I definitely don't want anything to do with with Joseph Newgarden. I think he's still hurt, right? Like we're expecting that he's still gonna be kind of banged up for this race. And when you're talking about a technical track, do I still want to take a chance on him? What do you guys think about him? @Indybet: Nope. No, Penskey's no bet till we see some till unless they qualify well. And then we can decide on Sunday. But he doesn't qualify I mean Joseph hasn't qualified well since two, three years. He hasn't quite he didn't qualify well here last year and he crashed, I believe, lap one. That might have been Power's fault, but speaking of power. but yeah, no, no. I mean McLaughlin I was like, they at fourteen to one and I like and then I just quickly j very quickly just it I might have taken a breath of a pause and then I moved on. f1capper: No, it's just every time we've loved his number, he just he can't seem to get past like P four, P three, and that's it. Like he just he just struggles something with strategy. Something happens, he can't keep up and he starts falling back. what do you guys think of let's just say RL because Foster did pretty well here, or at least he was doing well. How do you think they're gonna do? iN8Rodgers: I mean, I they could qualify up there. They weren't really that good here last year. they showed imp improvement. They were pretty slow at Road America. Ray Hall was was admittedly s just slow and and got lucky to be back up there. I kinda think he's used up all of his podiums that he could possibly get in a season. It's kinda why I don't really wanna touch it. but I mean they could qualify up there. I just mm, not piquing my interest for this one. f1capper: Yeah, no, I just I guess I'm trying to get a feel of some of the back marker guys. The guys like I mean, hell, we had Kiffin Simpson like doing well, but I mean I guess it was a I wanna say that was more of the car and obviously his skill that kind of put him up there, but he doesn't really typically do well and he was he was doing pretty well. I mean, qualified well and was doing well in the race. But when I'm like trying to look at like the group bets, right, we got Group C, which is Foster, Rossi, VK, and Ferrucci, like what's that mix gonna look like? iN8Rodgers: Yeah. Well so Kiffin, I know he's not in that group, but I I took a podium of his a twenty five to one. they have a top five out there on the score that that you could try to grab too but I mean he's my favorite long shot of the week since I don't have Armstrong available to me anymore. real quick he was P one or sorry, in P one he was sixth, P two he was eighth last year, he qualified third and he finished tenth off of the they kinda had an issue with his tire and he stalled, getting like dropped to pick back up on the air jack. And he still finished tenth. and so that's kinda a twenty five to one where you think Anassie's gonna be really good here. I like that. I like his know we'll get to Gridrivo later, but so as far as those people back there, that's that's where I don't have them in like a matchup or a group unfortunately, but I'm just not really I'm I'm unsure about fading or taking ECR and you know I don't really care about Ferrucci on road courses. I would I would mostly fade them. So VK's kind of struggled here in the past. He's someone that I you know I almost want to fade so looking at that I just I've kind of left all the groups f1capper: Mm-hmm. iN8Rodgers: Along. f1capper: Yeah, I'm looking at the score right now and I'm tempted. I'm tempted with these race matchups. But man, will power over Newgarden? That does kind of sound good. I don't want to do you have that one? Ugh, that looks that that one piques my interest a little bit here. Just more of a Newgarden fatum. He hasn't done well. iN8Rodgers: I have a unit or to win a unit on that, yeah. f1capper: But of course this could be the race where he ends up like P six and we're like, What the hell? iN8Rodgers: He's been pretty bad in the races, but th they've done a great job on strategy and it's just timed out for him where he keeps finding his way back up into the top ten. but I you know, I just don't think he needs to heal, I think, before he he could be competitive and even when he was healthy he hasn't been super competitive on road courses. f1capper: Yeah. Man, that is tempting. I kind of want to do that one out of all of them because we're like Armstrong is matched up against Scott. As much as I want to take Armstrong to fade Scott, I I'm s still kinda yes, there's a little part of me was like, Ugh, last week I had him I think that was my only race matchup. And he was like minus 300 closing value and he still lost. I remember telling the one guy in our Discord, like, hey, if you liked foster or whoever he was matched up. I think it was Ferrucci. If you liked Ferrucci at minus one twenty, you would love him at like three to one right now. And he's like, I took him and then he got he got lucky. He got it. He got it. So gotta hand it to him. But I I'm glad I I'm glad he actually did that and didn't just stick to his initial bet. Like he doubled down on Ferrucci and it worked out for him. So iN8Rodgers: For OG, I think. Yeah. f1capper: It's just a little craziness. I I think the if Melukas wasn't minus one fifty to Kirkwood, if he was still at like minus one thirty, I think I would have taken Meluchus over Kirk Kirkwood. I think I would have done that. I don't like the number though. That's that's the only thing I don't like. at this iN8Rodgers: I went the other way because I'm I'm I I'm Kirkwood. I I took the plus one twenty for just half a unit. you know, I'll just see how that works out, but you know, I think he's gonna be up there, so f1capper: Yeah. Don't blame you. Don't blame you. Pato Pato versus Dixon. They're both pretty much at even minus one hundred fifteen. Who are you taking? iN8Rodgers: I'm not gonna touch that one. I d I did put small but it yeah. f1capper: I w if you didn't have money on it. If you if you have to pick it. @Indybet: I have to take his paddle. f1capper: Had it. @Indybet: But I understand that this is Dixon's like little bit you know, this is his track. Might have some win it before he leaves. I don't I never know how to handicap the whole like are they just gonna be like, screw you, you don't get any of our resources now, every doll it's all going to the rest of the team. You're out of here, you know, you left us. Or is it gonna be, you know I don't know, I'm not I'll if there's any track I sweat on my under Dixon one and a half wins, it's it's this one, but iN8Rodgers: Yeah, that's what I mean they both they're both pretty good here. and they're just f1capper: Didn't @Indybet: He he would have to luckbox a win again, like two stop. iN8Rodgers: I did put some some money on paddo elsewhere and my reasoning behind that is that they nailed the setup when it was this hot two years ago and he won the race. and I think they're kinda slowly getting there. They're a little all over the place and that's why I don't want to take Lungard right now because his number has come down to a more realistic number. And Lungard just for whatever reason keeps qualifying like s eight to twelve, things like that, thirteen. And so I think Lungard's number will get better. but if a ward can kinda if they can bring back kinda what they were using a couple of years ago with you know how hot it was and he qualified second at the NDGP. He had top five race pace at Road America before he got hit with kind of the a pit penalty for you know the the ti the caution of the timing of the caution but so just a little bit on award and kind of spreading it out a little bit. I've still got a ton of room to add more after qualifying. f1capper: All right. Well, I don't know if we want to move to some grid rival. I'm actually checking price picks as well. I don't know if price picks has anything up. I don't see it yet. I haven't I was about to look at Indi IndyCar, so I'm doing it live with you guys, but I can't say I'm shocked by s a lot of these numbers. you know, Kristen. Yeah. @Indybet: Yeah, I'll go first. I only got one w only one I like and that's it and then you guys can go through the rest. Kirkwood worse than five and a half. I I would say most of the Andretti cars that are on that list, but you can't bet you have to bet multiple teams as to the rule. so but Kirkwood f1capper: Yeah, I that was one that That's I'm thinking him worse with Newgarden Worse. What was your second pick of? Did you have that y you were just saying that's your favorite one? was my favorite though. Yeah. @Indybet: Not That was my favorite. That was it. I mean any of the Andretti horses, but you can't put them together. Like I would have maybe gone like Kirkwood Power. Power's at six and a half. That's f1capper: Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure. @Indybet: I feel like if you're gonna get if we get it right with the Andretti, they're all going worse. So maybe mix and match Andretti's with some other guys. f1capper: I okay, so if that means if if I were to do five and a half, six and a half horse, Newgarden, I wouldn't get cute with Newgarden. Maybe it goes worse Kirkwood, worse Scott, five and a half because he's in the same area with I kinda six and a half. You could do that with worse power, but then actually Felix nine and a half. Maybe I'll do that. Maybe I'll do Kirkwood Worse five and a half with Felix Better nine and a half. iN8Rodgers: Yeah. I did McLaughlin worst five and a half. He hasn't finished top five in over a year of road courses. I think it's like over eight races he doesn't have a top five. I went better with Will Power. the other card I went worse with Newgarden. Pinski was miserable here, we've touched on that. And then that's when I I went better with Kiffin Simpson there at fifteen and a half. f1capper: Mm-hmm. iN8Rodgers: think he's got a great chance of clearing that fifteen. But yeah, I do I I do kinda like Rosenquist at at ten. I think Armstrong's a little too low at seven and a half, so I would move move towards Felix if I was looking at that team. Well d it I guess nine and a half, yeah, but f1capper: Here's was Felix at ten when it first okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Here's what I like. These are my two favorites. I'm gonna I wanna peel out Andretti from this, even though I love that five and a half. I'll probably do another one. McLaughlin worse five and a half with Felix better nine and a half. That's I think that's the one I my mind is gravitating to as the one I really like. So I'm doing that one right now. @Indybet: sign, roll, let's do it. That's that's the pod one for sure. f1capper: That's the pod one? All right. I like it. I do like that fifteen and a half though. That's a good good spot. Just gotta hope he doesn't have a tire issue or anything like that going in. iN8Rodgers: I thought VK at thirteen and a half was a little low for him. I mean he does have the talent to move I don't think he's gonna like qualify super well but so I would more take that now than later, but that's that's a little low for a Junko's card, a road course. f1capper: The reason why I don't want to do Kirkwood though is because if he does qualify in like a P eight, which is possible. I mean, he could do PA, P5, whatever. His number won't drop off significantly. It'll be like seven and a half or something like that. So you might might lose that. I feel like the ones where you could you have the opportunity, but you you're playing with fire. But this is just purely based on numbers. Are the guys that are in four and a half, three and a half, you know, Scott Dixon four and a half, Malukas four and a half. There's something has to give in that in that area, right? Like something someone is going to be up there. Who is it gonna be? Everyone seems to be high on Dixon, but you never know. So iN8Rodgers: Well th if you're a person who likes the no win market, you know, Pillow would probably offer it at like minus four fifty or something on Caesars if they did it and he starts up there. I mean you'd technically be getting like a minus one forty, minus one thirty with with using Pelow worse than one and a half. I mean, I know that's it's Pilow in a road course, but that one and a half number he he has to win the race f to for that to hit. f1capper: Yeah. Yeah, that's another one. It's just purely just number playing with the pick'em stuff. All right, well I won't beat a dead horse. We're gonna have obviously have a lot to discuss when it comes throughout the weekend. any last thoughts, bets, anything going through your heads? iN8Rodgers: Looks like we'll kinda be in opposite directions this weekend of what we're what we're looking for, so f1capper: It's that's the fun of it, right? Like s we can't always be on the same page. Sometimes sometimes we have different different thoughts. So that's it. @Indybet: You go. iN8Rodgers: Yeah.
