Juvenile, Truck, and Fire Mystery | Salt Lake City News
A grass fire erupted on Mountain Road just before 1 AM, burning 18 acres before crews contained it by 8 PM Saturday — fueled by a black pickup truck speeding away with no lights. The driver, a juvenile, told cops he was hiking with a 51-year-old man, Justin Derald Hurd, who allegedly started the blaze after offering him drugs. Hurd, who owned the truck, confronted firefighters before being arrested. He claimed he tried to put out the fire but couldn’t explain why he didn’t call 911. Bail is set at $2,500.
