- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, well, you never know what comes to the
- 0:01Speaker 1: desk of the one that got network, and we'll get
- 0:04Speaker 1: to our thinking of the big you know, new sponsor
- 0:06Speaker 1: we have in a little bit. But something pressing just
- 0:09Speaker 1: hit my desk and literally as I'm in studio from
- 0:12Speaker 1: my day job, hearing this story from a returning guest
- 0:16Speaker 1: doctor Joel Grossi, welcome back.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Thanks Alex.
- 0:19Speaker 1: You told the story that you can hear Monday morning
- 0:22Speaker 1: on WMCA about your church being vandalyzed. What's going on
- 0:25Speaker 1: with Commonwealth Community Baptists.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks so much, Alex. You know it's the first
- 0:31Speaker 2: time since I've been there in fifteen years. But yeah,
- 0:34Speaker 2: this past Saturday, our church was spray painted right the
- 0:39Speaker 2: right on the front of the building, and then our
- 0:43Speaker 2: neighbor's neighboring gate was hit also, and you know, very upsetting.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We the police came in. They actually said they're going
- 0:51Speaker 2: to look at it on the federal level if it's
- 0:53Speaker 2: a hate crime. And then the next day trash was
- 0:57Speaker 2: dumped in front of our front door. So we got
- 0:59Speaker 2: kind of hit two days in a row. It's kind
- 1:01Speaker 2: of upsetting, but we thank god that no nothing more
- 1:03Speaker 2: serious than that.
- 1:04Speaker 1: And if it gets elevated to the federal level. Then
- 1:06Speaker 1: they're really taking this seriously obviously.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, because you know, I think anytime a
- 1:10Speaker 2: house of worship is vandalized, they've got to ask was
- 1:14Speaker 2: this a hate crime? Is there some kind of you know,
- 1:17Speaker 2: terrorism or hatred going on?
- 1:19Speaker 1: How are the prisoners feeling? I mean they must have
- 1:21Speaker 1: been traumatized.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, no, they were upset. It was an upsetting morning.
- 1:25Speaker 2: We talked about it afterwards for a while. People were,
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know, a little uneasy. It's not the it's not
- 1:31Speaker 2: a common thing for us, so we're we don't really
- 1:34Speaker 2: expect it to happen again, prayer fully, but it was
- 1:36Speaker 2: not It was not pleasant all right. Time.
- 1:38Speaker 1: This is the conversation about the skate park. You open
- 1:40Speaker 1: the skate park whenever it's able to Yeah, that could
- 1:43Speaker 1: alleviate some of the damage and some of the crime
- 1:46Speaker 1: that goes on up there. Right.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Oh. Absolutely. You know, the more resources we have to
- 1:52Speaker 2: provide youths and everybody with creative activities, positive actions, things
- 1:57Speaker 2: to do, then I think there's less ten to get
- 2:01Speaker 2: into some of the bad stuff.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Absolutely, well, we'll find out more about this. On Monday morning,
- 2:05Speaker 1: when I was hearing this so in real time, I
- 2:07Speaker 1: was just shocked because it's a smaller you know, it's
- 2:10Speaker 1: a smaller church, the community church. You wouldn't expect that, right,
- 2:13Speaker 1: So what we'll be praying for you guys and always
- 2:16Speaker 1: love listening on WMCA.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Doctor Joel, Thank you, Alex.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That was Pastor Joel Grossi, always driving to one leg
- 2:22Speaker 1: up for his community and for you the listener on WMCA.
