- 0:00Speaker 1: To the ACC. Look at us showing some love everywhere.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Miami travels to Clemson, South Carolina. The fourth-ranked Hurricanes will
- 0:08Speaker 1: go see Dabo, who has not lost a game since
- 0:10Speaker 1: that opener against LSU. Although that might have been worth
- 0:14Speaker 1: two or three losses.
- 0:15Speaker 2: They still haven't lost. They're still 3-1. Presented by PrizePix here.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Tom, I'll let you start with Miami and Clemson.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 0:27Speaker 3: What the hell is Clemson going to do offensively? I mean,
- 0:31Speaker 3: like you have to put this game on your quarterback
- 0:35Speaker 3: and they barely have quarterback play. They don't really have
- 0:39Speaker 3: much of a passing offense. You probably aren't going to
- 0:42Speaker 3: have a lot of success running the football against Miami.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Miami has some injuries that they're dealing with right now,
- 0:47Speaker 3: but they're all in the secondary and wake forest was
- 0:49Speaker 3: able to take advantage of that and nearly came back
- 0:52Speaker 3: in that game in Winston Salem. But like Tate Reynolds
- 0:56Speaker 3: is not playing well.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And I feel bad for.
- 0:59Speaker 3: This wide receiver court because we've talked about before in
- 1:01Speaker 3: this show, Wesco and Moore, like there's NFL talent in
- 1:04Speaker 3: this wide receiver court, but you physically can't get the
- 1:06Speaker 3: football from point A to point B. Can you do
- 1:10Speaker 3: enough in the running game if you're Clemson? At home,
- 1:12Speaker 3: you're fortunate this is going to be in Death Valley
- 1:14Speaker 3: and the big man is probably going to be shining
- 1:15Speaker 3: down on Dabo in this one. But like, can you
- 1:17Speaker 3: run the ball against Miami's front seven? I don't know
- 1:21Speaker 3: if that's the case. I love the way Motore is
- 1:23Speaker 3: playing linebacker right now. This defensive line is not what
- 1:27Speaker 3: it was last year, but it's still pretty damn good.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I've really enjoyed seeing what they put on tape at
- 1:33Speaker 3: this point. It's just a matter of Clemson is going
- 1:36Speaker 3: to have to get big explosives, and that's not sustainable.
- 1:41Speaker 3: They're going to have to find explosives in the passing game,
- 1:44Speaker 3: in the running game, wherever it is, to turn into scores,
- 1:46Speaker 3: and then it's going to have to be the best
- 1:49Speaker 3: defensive performance that they put together all season. So far,
- 1:52Speaker 3: the LSU game, they got thrashed. Then the ACC competition
- 1:56Speaker 3: that they've had, what was it, UNC, and then the
- 1:58Speaker 3: Cal game, Cal somehow looked worse than Clemson. That's a
- 2:01Speaker 3: head scratcher. We were high on Cal during the offseason.
- 2:03Speaker 3: So there's a lot of questions there.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I told some JKS lies.
- 2:07Speaker 2: No, I mean.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I told a lot of JKS lies.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I think between LaPoi and JKS and the receivers they
- 2:14Speaker 3: brought in, there was excitement. But I digress. On the
- 2:17Speaker 3: flip side, what's to stop Miami offensively from doing virtually
- 2:22Speaker 3: whatever they want in this?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Now, I'll give credit.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Clemson has some guys on the defensive side of the
- 2:26Speaker 3: ball that are going to play on Sundays.
- 2:28Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 2:29Speaker 3: But this is like the dam is going to break
- 2:31Speaker 3: at some point. Darian Mensah is going to be able
- 2:33Speaker 3: to connect with Malachi Toney, not at will. I think
- 2:36Speaker 3: they're going to try and take away Malachi Toney. But
- 2:38Speaker 3: when in doubt, they can run the football, too. I'm
- 2:41Speaker 3: very excited to see what Miami does in a hostile environment.
- 2:45Speaker 3: This will be the most hostile environment they played in
- 2:47Speaker 3: so far this season. Is this their first road game?
- 2:50Speaker 2: They played at Wake. They played at Stanford too. They
- 2:54Speaker 2: played at Stanford.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Thank you very much.
- 2:55Speaker 2: They haven't played anybody at home. Central Michigan.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But like, this is ironically the, best competition they've played? No,
- 3:03Speaker 3: I actually think Wake is better than Clemson.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Wake is better, in my opinion.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I think the environment is going to be a part
- 3:07Speaker 3: of this, but I expect Darian Mensah to meet the moment.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I expect Malachi Toney to look like Malachi Toney. I
- 3:13Speaker 3: expect them to be able to run the football. I
- 3:15Speaker 3: don't know if it's going to be the same stat
- 3:18Speaker 3: lines that we've seen week over week, where Malachi Toney
- 3:21Speaker 3: is posing for the Heisman against FAMU, but I think
- 3:23Speaker 3: they're going to be able to put up numbers. I
- 3:25Speaker 3: think they're going to be able to score against Clemson.
- 3:28Speaker 2: This is just.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Again, kind of like the Iowa-Ohio State game. I don't
- 3:32Speaker 3: know where Clemson gets the points from.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'll get right back to this clip from the Power
- 3:36Speaker 1: 2 on college football addiction. But first, I want to
- 3:39Speaker 1: tell you, we picked everything that you see right now.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'll tell you, we all took the more on Jaden
- 3:44Speaker 1: Ball's touchdowns. We all took the more on Jeremiah Smith's touchdowns.
- 3:47Speaker 1: We all took the more on Jeremiah Smith and Jaden
- 3:49Speaker 1: Ball's rushing slash receiving totals that they have there. We
- 3:52Speaker 1: took the more on Malachi Toney. I took the less
- 3:55Speaker 1: on Ryan Coleman-Williams. So go check out the show. You
- 3:59Speaker 1: can hear what our live predictions were. You can hear
- 4:01Speaker 1: our thought process behind all of them. And then go
- 4:03Speaker 1: get on the Price Picks app.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Use our code HMA. Play $ 5.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Get $ 150 in lineups instantly when you win. If you
- 4:11Speaker 1: place a $ 5 lineup and win using that code HMA only.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Make sure that you are on the Price Picks app.
- 4:17Speaker 1: All right, now back to the clip.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah, the weather could play an impact here. Yes.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You talk about if they can be a little lower scoring.
- 4:25Speaker 1: If you're talking about a path to.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Victory for Clemson, it's narrow.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But if you're entertaining all the things that have to
- 4:31Speaker 1: go into it, I mean, Mintz has been damn near perfect.
- 4:35Speaker 2: He's got more touchdowns than incompletions.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I will stop saying that stat when it finally ends
- 4:41Speaker 5: up happening.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Hopefully it happens soon.
- 4:43Speaker 2: But it's a ridiculous stat.
- 4:47Speaker 1: He's throwing an 88% completion percentage.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's wild. You need him to... He's not going to
- 4:53Speaker 2: have a bad game.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But just a little bit worse. He's got to be
- 4:56Speaker 1: in the high 60s, which is still really good. But
- 5:02Speaker 1: he's got to have an off game of 68% instead
- 5:05Speaker 1: of 88%. You certainly need the weather to slow things
- 5:09Speaker 1: down and make your ground game kind of what's more
- 5:12Speaker 1: of the focus, just to limit possessions. Miami's interior offensive
- 5:17Speaker 1: line has not been incredibly impressive this year.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So you're hoping.
- 5:21Speaker 1: that if you're Clemson, you can get push there with
- 5:24Speaker 1: some of the guys that they have up front. Now,
- 5:25Speaker 1: Clemson's defensive line is not what it once was, no doubt.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But I would imagine they're the best that Miami will
- 5:31Speaker 1: have seen so far this year. And so if there
- 5:35Speaker 1: were other teams that are a little lower talent-wise that
- 5:39Speaker 1: were getting some good stuff going in the middle of
- 5:41Speaker 1: that Miami offensive line, you think about that for Clemson.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Miami's been horrific when it comes to penalties. I think
- 5:46Speaker 1: they had 13 against Central Michigan today. They had 7
- 5:51Speaker 1: or 9, I think, against, or maybe it was 11.
- 5:53Speaker 1: It was 11 or 13 against Central Michigan. Mario complained
- 5:56Speaker 1: about it. It was 7 against Wake Forest.
- 5:59Speaker 4: 7 for 75 against Wake Forest.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So Mario didn't love that either. So you're thinking like that,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and then again, if there's a weakness on Miami's defense,
- 6:09Speaker 1: it probably is the secondary. Like that's, you know, they've
- 6:12Speaker 1: got a lot of guys banged up there. So if
- 6:14Speaker 1: you're Clemson, you need all of those, everything I just mentioned.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You need that all to go your way. And then
- 6:23Speaker 1: you're also counting on, okay, it all goes your way,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and Derry Mintz has got the ball in the fourth quarter,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and they're up three.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Are you going to stop them?
- 6:28Speaker 1: You know, when that running game is leaning on you.
- 6:32Speaker 1: They would assume I would think get Fletcher back this week.
- 6:35Speaker 4: They are expected to. Him and Milt are expected to
- 6:38Speaker 4: play this game.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So that path becomes incredibly narrow. Like I just listed
- 6:43Speaker 1: like six things that need to go Clemson's way. And
- 6:45Speaker 1: even if I said all those things went Clemson's way,
- 6:48Speaker 1: are you saying, okay, well now Clemson wins? Like if
- 6:50Speaker 1: I told you all those things went Iowa's way, you'd
- 6:53Speaker 1: probably say like, yeah, okay, I can see it. Clemson,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think, they're starting from too far behind. I struggle
- 6:59Speaker 1: to see a realistic path. Now, football is weird. I
- 7:02Speaker 1: would have said all these same things about FSU-Bama last year.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I would have said all these same things about Oklahoma
- 7:07Speaker 1: State and Oregon coming into week two. Like football is
- 7:10Speaker 1: allowed to happen, and you are allowed to play games,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and results are allowed to be different than you think.
- 7:15Speaker 2: But I think the path is incredibly.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Narrow for Clemson, I don't think that Mensah has a
- 7:19Speaker 1: bad day against this defense. I do think they get
- 7:21Speaker 1: some of the penalty stuff cleaned up. Miami is fine
- 7:25Speaker 1: running the ball, even if that interior of the offensive
- 7:27Speaker 1: line has not been as strong as they've wanted it
- 7:29Speaker 1: to be this year. So I think if I told Mario,
- 7:32Speaker 1: like all these things are going to happen again, he'd say,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I still like my guys. And that's probably where I
- 7:36Speaker 1: land on this. I think there's just too big of
- 7:37Speaker 1: a talent gap. And again, I don't think you go
- 7:40Speaker 1: six for six on the things that I listed out
- 7:42Speaker 1: on the path to victory. I, again, really good wide receivers.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Tate Reynolds has looked better week after week, but I
- 7:49Speaker 1: don't know that a true freshman against this Miami defense
- 7:52Speaker 1: is the best look for, uh, for a guy that
- 7:55Speaker 1: has to play this game and go out and try
- 7:57Speaker 1: and win as a 17 point dog. So yeah, I
- 7:59Speaker 1: like Miami to win somewhat comfortably. I think they win
- 8:02Speaker 1: by like 20 ish, maybe that's 34 to 14, maybe
- 8:06Speaker 1: that's 34, 17, somewhere in there.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But I think Miami wins this pretty comfortably.
- 8:11Speaker 5: I do think that it is important, though, to mention
- 8:13Speaker 5: that in that Wake Forest game, Miami took its foot
- 8:15Speaker 5: off the gas and they allowed the Demon Deacons to
- 8:17Speaker 5: fight back in. So if you are Miami and you
- 8:19Speaker 5: are Shannon Dawson, it does not matter what you think
- 8:22Speaker 5: the score is. You have to keep your foot on
- 8:24Speaker 5: the gas. You have to be able to trust Miami.
- 8:27Speaker 5: that you are going to continuously go for the explosives.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Because I do look at what Carlos Hernandez was able
- 8:32Speaker 5: to do. I look at what Foley was able to
- 8:33Speaker 5: do in that game. And they had very, very, very
- 8:36Speaker 5: good performances. I think that Bryant Wesco and TJ.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Moore, better wide receivers than Carlos Hernandez. Far better wide
- 8:43Speaker 4: receivers than Carlos Hernandez. So they can score. I disagree
- 8:46Speaker 4: with TJ on one major thing.
- 8:47Speaker 5: It's that you need X, Y, Z, A, B, C, D,
- 8:50Speaker 5: everything under the sun, probably going ahead and sacrificing a lamb,
- 8:55Speaker 5: going and praying to whatever is your college football god
- 8:58Speaker 5: for this to even be a close game going into
- 9:00Speaker 5: the fourth quarter.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I just think that we, and I think that.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Also you kind of saw Miami go through its mulligan
- 9:06Speaker 5: when realizing, okay, even when we play up to our standard,
- 9:10Speaker 5: we have to do so for four quarters in that
- 9:11Speaker 5: Wake Forest game. They're not going to take anybody lightly
- 9:14Speaker 5: because they want to guarantee that they are the favorites
- 9:16Speaker 5: and they are the team to beat, not in the ACC,
- 9:19Speaker 5: but in college football. And as much as I do
- 9:20Speaker 5: think that you are seeing Clemson's defense turn the corner,
- 9:23Speaker 5: it just is not enough to where I think you're
- 9:25Speaker 5: going to be able to pull them away.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I agree, TJ. I think this is going to be
- 9:28Speaker 4: like a 20-point swing in favor of Miami.
- 9:31Speaker 2: You got a score, Tom?
- 9:33Speaker 3: The spread is 16.5 in favor of Miami over under 48.5.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I think I'm going to go.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Does Miami itself hit the over?
- 9:44Speaker 4: Let's go with that.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh, on their own? Not in weather on the road.
- 9:48Speaker 2: They'll do it now that I said that, but not
- 9:50Speaker 2: in weather on the road.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Honestly, the weather doesn't even affect me. Getting the running
- 9:54Speaker 3: backs back is fantastic. But I was like, yeah, if
- 9:56Speaker 3: you run the ball the way that you're capable of,
- 9:58Speaker 3: who cares what the weather is? you might not be
- 10:00Speaker 3: in a situation where it's like hey Darian win this
- 10:02Speaker 3: for us and which case I still believe that he
- 10:04Speaker 3: could but.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah I'm gonna throw the ball 18 times he's gonna
- 10:07Speaker 1: complete 16 of them exactly like Tony will still do
- 10:10Speaker 1: Tony things in the weather
- 10:11Speaker 3: Right does Malachi Tony surpass 50 yards rushing I think
- 10:15Speaker 3: that'd be fun for our friends at prize picks I
- 10:17Speaker 3: will go with Miami at 41 to 16 in this one.
