  is

  the

  most
• 1:56

  don't

  you
• 1:58
  clue
• 1:59
  people

  in?
• 2:00
  Well,
• 2:00
  we're

  totally
• 2:01

  We're

• 2:08
  in
• 2:08

• 2:09

• 2:11
  And
• 2:11
  how's
• 2:11
  the
• 2:11
  fishing
• 2:12
  been?
• 2:13
  It's
• 2:13
  been
• 2:15
  unbelievable.
• 2:18
  Not
• 2:19
  so
• 2:19
  much
• 2:19
  in
• 2:20
  how
• 2:20
  many
• 2:20
  fish
• 2:20
  we're
• 2:21
  catching,
• 2:21
  but
• 2:21
  how
• 2:22
  we're
• 2:22
  catching
• 2:22
  them.
• 2:24
  Super
• 2:24
  cool.
• 2:24
  And
• 2:24
  it's
• 2:25
  just
• 2:25
  permit,
• 2:25
  right?
• 2:26
  Well,
• 2:27
  there's
• 2:27
  big
• 2:28
  turf
• 2:28
  in
• 2:28
  here.
• 2:29
  There's
• 2:30
  plenty
• 2:30
  of
• 2:30
  bonefish
• 2:31
  and
• 2:31
  some
• 2:31
  gagger
• 2:32
  snook.
• 2:32
  I
• 2:32
  mean,
• 2:32
  it's.
• 2:33
  It's
• 2:33
  kind
• 2:33
  of
• 2:34
  the
• 2:34
  world
• 2:34
  of
• 2:34
  opportunity
• 2:35
  down
• 2:35
  here,
• 2:35
  for
• 2:35
  sure.
• 2:37
  Very,
• 2:37
  very
• 2:37
  cool.
• 2:38
  And
• 2:38
  so,
• 2:38
  you
• 2:38
  know,
• 2:38
  folks,
• 2:38
  last
• 2:39
  time
• 2:39
  we.
• 2:40
  We
• 2:40
  had
• 2:40
  the
• 2:40
  folks
• 2:40
  from
• 2:41
  SA
• 2:41
  on
• 2:41
  to
• 2:41
  talk
• 2:41
  about
• 2:42
  line
• 2:42
  design,
• 2:42
  we're
• 2:42
  kind
• 2:42
  of
• 2:42
  going
• 2:43
  back
• 2:43
  to
• 2:43
  the
• 2:43
  original
• 2:43
  format
• 2:44
  where
• 2:44
  it's
• 2:45
  one
• 2:45
  pattern,
• 2:46
  one
• 2:46
  fly
• 2:46
  designer,
• 2:47
  and
• 2:47
  all
• 2:47
  the
• 2:47
  questions.
• 2:48
  And
• 2:48
  so
• 2:48
  tonight,
• 2:48
  we're
• 2:48
  going
• 2:49
  to
• 2:49
  talk
• 2:49
  to
• 2:49
  Doug
• 2:49
  about
• 2:49
  the
• 2:49
  Home
• 2:50
  Invader.
• 2:50
  And,
• 2:51
  you
• 2:51
  know,
• 2:51
  Doug,
• 2:51
  if
• 2:51
  we
• 2:52
  step
• 2:52
  back
• 2:52
  in
• 2:52
  the
• 2:52
  time
• 2:53

• 2:53
  you
• 2:54
  know,
• 2:54
  what
• 2:54
  was
• 2:54
  the
• 2:54
  hole
• 2:55
  in
• 2:55
  your
• 2:55
  fly
• 2:55
  box
• 2:55
  you
• 2:55
  were
• 2:56
  trying
• 2:56
  to
• 2:56
  fill
• 2:56
  when
• 2:56
  you
• 2:56
  started
• 2:57
  working
• 2:57
  on
• 2:57
  the
• 2:57
  Home
• 2:57
  Invader?
• 2:59
  Well,
• 2:59
  it
• 2:59
  wasn't
• 3:00
  necessarily
• 3:00
  a
• 3:00
  hole
• 3:01
  in
• 3:01
  the
• 3:01
  fly
• 3:01
  boxes.
• 3:02
  We're,
• 3:03
  you
• 3:03
  know,
• 3:03
  time
• 3:04
  absolutely
• 3:05
  anything
• 3:05
  and
• 3:06
  everything
• 3:06
  we
• 3:06
  can
• 3:07
  could.
• 3:08
  But,
• 3:11
  you
• 3:11
  know,
• 3:11
  certainly
• 3:12
  some.
• 3:13
  Some
• 3:13
  people
• 3:13
  doing
• 3:13
  some
• 3:14
  innovative
• 3:14
  stuff.
• 3:15
  You
• 3:15
  know,
• 3:15
  I
• 3:16
  grew
• 3:16
  up
• 3:16
  just
• 3:16
  outside
• 3:16
  of
• 3:17
  Philadelphia,
• 3:17
  so
• 3:18
  I
• 3:18
  was
• 3:18
  fishing
• 3:19
  for
• 3:19
  trout
• 3:19
  as
• 3:21
  an
• 3:21
  aspiring
• 3:22
  striper
• 3:22
  fisherman,
• 3:23
  and,
• 3:24
  you
• 3:24
  know,
• 3:25
  getting
• 3:25
  in
• 3:25
  the
• 3:26
  smallmouth,
• 3:26
  getting
• 3:26
  in
• 3:27
  the

• 3:27
  fishing.
• 3:28
  And
• 3:29
  Bob
• 3:29
  Popfix
• 3:30
  was
• 3:30
  coming
• 3:31
  out
• 3:31
  with,
• 3:32
  you
• 3:33
  know,
• 3:33
  new
• 3:33
  innovative
• 3:34
  streamers
• 3:35
  that
• 3:35
  were
• 3:35
  using
• 3:36
  different
• 3:36
  materials
• 3:38
  than
• 3:38
  anybody
• 3:39
  else.
• 3:40
  I
• 3:40
  mean,
• 3:40
  you
• 3:40
  know,
• 3:41
  using
• 3:41
  wool,
• 3:41
  doing

  these

• 3:43

• 3:44

• 3:45
  that

• 3:46
  you

  know,
• 3:46
  I

  looked
• 3:47
  exactly
• 3:47
  like

• 3:48

• 3:48
  And
• 3:50
  I

  was

  into,
• 3:52
  you

  small
• 3:54
  wild
• 3:54
  fishing
• 3:56
  and,
• 3:58
  you
• 3:58
  know,
• 3:59
  been
• 3:59
  all
• 3:59
  about
• 3:59
  catching
• 4:00
  minnows
• 4:01
  my
• 4:02
  entire
• 4:02
  life.
• 4:03
  And.
• 4:03
  And,
• 4:06
  you
• 4:06
  know,
• 4:07
  just
• 4:07
  where
• 4:08
  I
• 4:08
  worked,
• 4:09
  it
• 4:09
  was
• 4:10
  some
• 4:10
  materials
• 4:11
  on
• 4:11
  the
• 4:11
  wall
• 4:12
  and
• 4:12
  some
• 4:12
  materials
• 4:13
  that
• 4:13
  I
• 4:13
  had
• 4:14
  taken
• 4:16
  from
• 4:16
  a
• 4:17
  rooster
• 4:17
  pheasant,
• 4:17
  one
• 4:18
  of
• 4:18
  the
• 4:18
  last
• 4:18
  rooster
• 4:19
  pheasants
• 4:19
  that
• 4:19
  I
• 4:20
  shot
• 4:20
  in
• 4:21
  PA
• 4:21
  from
• 4:21
  my
• 4:21
  granddad's
• 4:22
  farm
• 4:22
  right
• 4:23
  before
• 4:23
  he
• 4:23
  sold
• 4:23
  it.
• 4:24
  And
• 4:26
  it
• 4:27
  kind
• 4:27
  of
• 4:28
  happened
• 4:28
  by
• 4:28
  accident.
• 4:30
  Yeah.
• 4:30
  Interesting.
• 4:31
  And
• 4:31
  so,
• 4:31
  you
• 4:31
  know,
• 4:31
  who
• 4:31
  are
• 4:31
  some
• 4:32
  of
• 4:32
  the
• 4:32
  kind
• 4:32
  of
• 4:32
  the
• 4:32
  anglers
• 4:33
  and
• 4:33
  tires
• 4:33
  that
• 4:33
  kind
• 4:33
  of
• 4:33
  inspired
• 4:34
  the
• 4:34
  design,
• 4:34
  in
• 4:34
  addition
• 4:35
  to
• 4:35
  Bob.
• 4:37
  Certainly
• 4:37
  Bob
• 4:38
  Clouser,
• 4:39
  you
• 4:39
  know,
• 4:39
  with
• 4:39
  the
• 4:40
  inverted,
• 4:40
  you
• 4:41
  know,
• 4:41
  lead
• 4:41
  eyes.
• 4:42
  I
• 4:42
  mean,
• 4:42
  talk
• 4:43
  about
• 4:43
  revolutionary
• 4:44
  stuff.
• 4:45
  I
• 4:45
  mean,
• 4:45
  a
• 4:45
  fly
• 4:46
  that
• 4:46
  swims
• 4:46
  upside
• 4:47
  down
• 4:47
  is
• 4:48
  essentially
• 4:49
  snagless
• 4:51
  that
• 4:51
  for
• 4:52
  sure.
• 4:53
  You
• 4:53
  know,
• 4:54
  plus
• 4:54
  what
• 4:55
  Bob
• 4:55
  Popovic
• 4:56
  was
• 4:56
  doing
• 4:56
  with,
• 4:57
  you
• 4:58
  know,
• 4:59
  New
• 5:00
  Jersey
• 5:00
  striped
• 5:01
  bass
• 5:01
  and
• 5:02
  bluefish
• 5:03
  and,
• 5:03
  you
• 5:04
  know,
• 5:04
  whatever.
• 5:05
  I
• 5:05
  mean,
• 5:05
  some
• 5:05
  of
• 5:05
  the
• 5:05
  stuff
• 5:06
  that
• 5:06
  he
• 5:06
  was
• 5:06
  coming
• 5:07
  up
• 5:07
  with,
• 5:07
  different
• 5:08
  materials,
• 5:08
  you
• 5:09
  know,
• 5:10
  tying
• 5:10
  with
• 5:10
  wool,
• 5:11
  you
• 5:11
  know,
• 5:12
  time
• 5:12
  with
• 5:12
  different
• 5:12
  hair,
• 5:13
  that
• 5:13
  was.
• 5:14
  That
• 5:14
  kind
• 5:15
  of
• 5:15
  got
• 5:15
  me
• 5:15
  going
• 5:15
  for
• 5:16
  sure.
• 5:17
  Yeah.
• 5:17
  I
• 5:17
  think
• 5:17
  the
• 5:17
  interesting
• 5:18
  thing
• 5:18
  about
• 5:19
  Popovic's
• 5:20
  is,
• 5:20
  you
• 5:20
  know,
• 5:20
  it's
• 5:20
  kind
• 5:20
  of.
• 5:21
  It's
• 5:21
  interesting
• 5:21
  because
• 5:21
  I've
• 5:22
  talked
• 5:22
  to
• 5:22
  other
• 5:22
  folks
• 5:22
  about
• 5:22
  this.
• 5:23
  I
• 5:23
  mean,
• 5:23
  he
• 5:23
  was
• 5:23
  figuring
• 5:23
  all
• 5:24
  this
• 5:24
  stuff
• 5:24
  out
• 5:24
  and
• 5:24
  literally,
• 5:25
  like,
• 5:25
  going
• 5:25
  to
• 5:25
  the
• 5:25
  hardware
• 5:26
  store
• 5:26
  right
• 5:27
  Right.
• 5:27
  And
• 5:28
  I
• 5:28
  can
• 5:28
  remember
• 5:28
  watching
• 5:29
  him
• 5:29
  tie
• 5:31
  those
• 5:31
  wool
• 5:31
  headed
• 5:32
  streamers
• 5:33
  and
• 5:33
  he
• 5:33
  literally
• 5:34
  was
• 5:34
  sitting
• 5:34
  in
• 5:34
  Edison
• 5:35
  and
• 5:35
  he
• 5:35
  had
• 5:35
  a
• 5:35
  tube
• 5:36
  of
• 5:36
  like,
• 5:36
  you
• 5:36
  know,
• 5:37
  silicone
• 5:38
  goop
• 5:38
  that
• 5:38
  you
• 5:39
  would
• 5:39
  buy,
• 5:39
  you
• 5:39
  know,
• 5:39
  at
• 5:40
  Home
• 5:40
  Depot
• 5:40
  or
• 5:40
  Lowe's.
• 5:41
  Right.
• 5:43
  And
• 5:43
  we
• 5:43
  still
• 5:44
  do
• 5:44
  that
• 5:44
  today.
• 5:45
  I
• 5:45
  mean,
• 5:45
  with
• 5:45
  what
• 5:45
  we're
• 5:46
  doing
• 5:46
  currently,
• 5:47
  I
• 5:47
  mean,
• 5:48
  none
• 5:48
  of
• 5:49
  that
• 5:49
  has
• 5:49
  changed.
• 5:51
  Yeah.
• 5:51
  I
• 5:51
  think
• 5:51
  some
• 5:51
  of
• 5:51
  the
• 5:52
  young
• 5:52
  kids
• 5:52
  are
• 5:52
  spoiled
• 5:53
  because
• 5:53
  I
• 5:53
  think
• 5:53
  they
• 5:53
  just
• 5:53
  order
• 5:53
  everything
• 5:54
  in
• 5:54
  a
• 5:54
  catalog
• 5:55
  now.
• 5:55
  Right?
• 5:56
  Well,
• 5:56
  I
• 5:56
  mean,
• 5:58
  yes,
• 5:58
  but
• 5:59
  if
• 5:59
  they
• 5:59
  knew
• 6:00
  about
• 6:00
  those
• 6:00
  other
• 6:01
  things
• 6:01
  that
• 6:01
  they
• 6:01
  need
• 6:02
  at
• 6:02
  the
• 6:02
  hardware
• 6:02
  store,
• 6:03
  they'd
• 6:03
  go
• 6:03
  to
• 6:03
  the
• 6:03
  hardware
• 6:04
  store
• 6:04
  if
• 6:04
  they
• 6:04
  knew.
• 6:05
  Yeah.
• 6:05
  It's
• 6:05
  kind
• 6:05
  of
• 6:05
  like
• 6:06
  trolling
• 6:06
  the
• 6:06
  craft
• 6:06
  shops
• 6:07
  for
• 6:07
  time
• 6:07
  materials.
• 6:07
  Right,
• 6:09
  right.
• 6:09
  100%.
• 6:10
  It's
• 6:10
  all
• 6:11
  the
• 6:11
  same.
• 6:11
  Yeah.
• 6:12
  And
• 6:12
  so,
• 6:13
  you
• 6:13
  know,
• 6:13
  talk
• 6:13
  a
• 6:13
  little
• 6:14
  bit
• 6:14
  about
• 6:14
  kind
• 6:14
  of
• 6:14
  the
• 6:14
  bite
• 6:15
  trigger
• 6:15
  you
• 6:15
  were
• 6:15
  trying
• 6:15
  to
• 6:16
  kind
• 6:16
  of
• 6:16
  build
• 6:16
  into
• 6:16
  the
• 6:16
  home
• 6:16
  invader
• 6:17
  when
• 6:17
  you
• 6:17
  were
• 6:17
  designing
• 6:18
  it.
• 6:19
  Well,
• 6:20
  there
• 6:20
  was
• 6:20
  no
• 6:21
  epiphany
• 6:22
  as,
• 6:22
  as
• 6:23
  far
• 6:23
  as,
• 6:24
  you
• 6:24
  know,
• 6:24
  where
• 6:24
  I
• 6:24
  was
• 6:25
  going
• 6:25
  with
• 6:25
  a
• 6:25
  certain
• 6:26
  pattern.
• 6:26
  You
• 6:27
  know,
• 6:27
  I
• 6:27
  had
• 6:27
  certainly
• 6:28
  seen
• 6:28
  what,
• 6:29
  you
• 6:29
  know,
• 6:30
  my
• 6:30
  neighbor
• 6:30
  in
• 6:31
  New
• 6:31
  Jersey
• 6:31
  was
• 6:31
  doing
• 6:32
  with
• 6:32
  striped
• 6:32
  bass
• 6:33
  and
• 6:33
  I
• 6:33
  mean,
• 6:35
  other
• 6:35
  stuff.
• 6:37
  And
• 6:37
  he
• 6:37
  was
• 6:37
  imitating
• 6:38
  bait
• 6:38
  fish
• 6:39
  and
• 6:40
  I
• 6:40
  was
• 6:40
  imitating
• 6:41
  bait
• 6:41
  fish.
• 6:41
  And
• 6:41
  I
• 6:42
  was
• 6:42
  basically
• 6:43
  a
• 6:43
  kid
• 6:44
  crawling
• 6:44
  around
• 6:45
  in
• 6:45
  southeast
• 6:45
  Pennsylvania
• 6:46
  without
• 6:47
  a
• 6:47
  home
• 6:47
  trout
• 6:48
  stream
• 6:48
  to
• 6:49
  spend
• 6:49
  my
• 6:49
  time
• 6:49
  on.
• 6:50
  But
• 6:50
  yet
• 6:51
  the
• 6:51
  lower
• 6:52
  Yellowstone
• 6:52
  or
• 6:54
  lower
• 6:54
  Delaware
• 6:55
  river,
• 6:55
  which
• 6:55
  is
• 6:57
  smallmouth
• 6:58
  land,
• 6:58
  striper
• 6:58
  land,
• 6:59
  and
• 6:59
  a
• 6:59
  bunch
• 7:00
  of
• 7:00
  coarse
• 7:00
  fish
• 7:01
  and,
• 7:02
  you
• 7:02
  know,
• 7:02
  shad
• 7:03
  in
• 7:03
  the
• 7:03
  springtime.
• 7:04
  And
• 7:04
  if
• 7:04
  you
• 7:04
  go
• 7:05
  way
• 7:05
  up
• 7:05
  top,
• 7:06
  you
• 7:06
  know,
• 7:06
  it's
• 7:06
  trout
• 7:07
  land
• 7:08
  and
• 7:09
  where
• 7:09
  all
• 7:09
  these
• 7:09
  places
• 7:10
  meet,
• 7:13
  I.
• 7:14
  I
• 7:14
  kind
• 7:15
  of
• 7:15
  snuck
• 7:15
  onto
• 7:16
  this
• 7:17
  spring
• 7:18
  creek
• 7:20
  just
• 7:20
  north
• 7:20
  of
• 7:20
  my
• 7:20
  house
• 7:21
  where
• 7:21
  I
• 7:21
  lived,
• 7:22
  you
• 7:22
  know,
• 7:22
  40
• 7:22
  minute
• 7:23
  drive.
• 7:24
  And
• 7:24
  nobody
• 7:25
  fished
• 7:25
  this
• 7:25
  thing.
• 7:25
  And
• 7:26
  I
• 7:26
  would
• 7:27
  basically
• 7:27
  sneak
• 7:28
  in
• 7:28
  from
• 7:28
  where
• 7:28
  it
• 7:29
  met
• 7:29
  the
• 7:29
  Delaware.
• 7:30
  And
• 7:32
  you
• 7:32
  know,
• 7:32
  there
• 7:33
  was
• 7:33
  a
• 7:34
  paper
• 7:34
  company
• 7:35
  that
• 7:35
  owned
• 7:36
  the
• 7:36
  bottom
• 7:37
  end
• 7:38
  and
• 7:38
  I
• 7:38
  would
• 7:38
  sneak
• 7:39
  up
• 7:39
  there
• 7:39
  and
• 7:40
  trout
• 7:40
  fish
• 7:40
  that.
• 7:41
  And
• 7:41
  I
• 7:41
  would
• 7:41
  also
• 7:41
  catch
• 7:42
  smallmouth
• 7:42
  and
• 7:43
  I
• 7:43
  also
• 7:43
  caught
• 7:43
  stripers
• 7:44
  and
• 7:45
  saw
• 7:45
  some
• 7:45
  big
• 7:46
  stripers
• 7:46
  in
• 7:46
  there
• 7:48
  coming
• 7:48
  in
• 7:49
  and
• 7:50
  recon
• 7:50
  herd
• 7:51
  on
• 7:51
  what
• 7:52
  I
• 7:52
  wanted
• 7:52
  to
• 7:52
  catch
• 7:52
  with
• 7:53
  flies.
• 7:53
  So,
• 7:55
  you
• 7:55
  know,
• 7:56
  it
• 7:57
  was
• 7:57
  about
• 7:58
  imitating
• 7:59
  bait
• 8:00
  fish
• 8:00
  and
• 8:00
  minnows.
• 8:01
  And
• 8:02
  I
• 8:02
  knew
• 8:03
  it
• 8:03
  was
• 8:03
  in
• 8:03
  there,
• 8:04
  you
• 8:04
  know,
• 8:04
  black
• 8:04
  nose
• 8:05
  days,
• 8:05
  little
• 8:05
  sand,
• 8:06
  eastern
• 8:06
  sand
• 8:07
  arters.
• 8:08
  And,
• 8:09
  you
• 8:10
  know,
• 8:10
  I
• 8:10
  just
• 8:10
  had
• 8:10
  this
• 8:11
  wonderful
• 8:12
  material,
• 8:13
  you
• 8:13
  know,
• 8:14
  at
• 8:14
  my
• 8:14
  feet
• 8:14
  that
• 8:15
  I
• 8:15
  had
• 8:16
  killed
• 8:16
  and
• 8:16
  taken
• 8:17
  samples
• 8:17
  of
• 8:17
  from
• 8:17
  my
• 8:18
  grandfathers,
• 8:18
  which
• 8:19
  was
• 8:20
  the
• 8:20
  marabou
• 8:21
  off
• 8:21
  of
• 8:21
  a
• 8:21
  ring
• 8:21
  neck
• 8:22
  pheasant,
• 8:22
  off
• 8:23
  their,
• 8:23
  you
• 8:24
  know,
• 8:24
  their
• 8:24
  thighs,
• 8:25
  if
• 8:25
  you
• 8:25
  will.
• 8:26
  And
• 8:26
  there's
• 8:27
  not
• 8:27
  many
• 8:28
  blood
• 8:28
  marabou
• 8:29
  plumes
• 8:29
  on
• 8:30
  a
• 8:30
  rooster
• 8:30
  pheasant,
• 8:30
  but
• 8:31
  there's
• 8:31
  some.
• 8:32
  And,
• 8:33
  you
• 8:33
  know,
• 8:34
  got
• 8:34
  a
• 8:34
  couple
• 8:34
  of
• 8:34
  granddad's
• 8:35
  roosters
• 8:35
  on
• 8:36
  this
• 8:36
  property,
• 8:36
  you
• 8:37
  know,
• 8:37
  before
• 8:37
  he
• 8:38
  sold
• 8:38
  it.
• 8:39
  And
• 8:39
  I'm
• 8:39
  like,
• 8:40
  these
• 8:41
  are
• 8:41
  special
• 8:41
  feathers.
• 8:42
  I'm
• 8:42
  going
• 8:42
  to
• 8:42
  save
• 8:43
  them.
• 8:43
  These
• 8:43
  things
• 8:43
  are
• 8:44
  wonderful.
• 8:44
  I
• 8:45
  got
• 8:45
  to
• 8:45
  find
• 8:45
  a
• 8:45
  use
• 8:45
  for
• 8:46
  them.
• 8:47
  And
• 8:47
  at
• 8:47
  the
• 8:48
  same
• 8:48
  time,
• 8:48
  I
• 8:48
  was
• 8:48
  working
• 8:48
  for
• 8:49
  a
• 8:49
  dude,
• 8:51
  had
• 8:51
  a
• 8:51
  very
• 8:51
  small
• 8:52
  fly
• 8:52
  shop,
• 8:53
  a
• 8:53
  really
• 8:54
  shy,
• 8:55
  beaten
• 8:55
  nude
• 8:56
  named
• 8:56
  Ken
• 8:57
  shwam.
• 8:58
  And
• 8:58
  he
• 8:59
  had,
• 8:59
  you
• 8:59
  know,
• 9:00
  he
• 9:00
  went
• 9:00
  pegboard
• 9:01
  to
• 9:01
  organize
• 9:02
  his
• 9:02
  material.
• 9:03
  So
• 9:03
  he
• 9:03
  had
• 9:04
  all
• 9:04
  kinds
• 9:04
  of
• 9:04
  stuff
• 9:05
  hanging
• 9:05
  up.
• 9:05
  And
• 9:05
  he
• 9:05
  had
• 9:06
  a
• 9:06
  Australian.
• 9:07
  A
• 9:07
  full,
• 9:07
  fully
• 9:08
  tanned
• 9:08
  Australian
• 9:09
  possum
• 9:09
  skin
• 9:10
  just
• 9:10
  hanging
• 9:11
  up
• 9:11
  right
• 9:11
  behind
• 9:11
  the
• 9:11
  tine
• 9:12
  bench,
• 9:13
  hardly
• 9:13
  been
• 9:13
  trimmed
• 9:13
  on.
• 9:15
  And
• 9:15
  it's
• 9:15
  a
• 9:15
  beautiful
• 9:16
  skin,
• 9:16
  a
• 9:16
  beautiful
• 9:17
  fur.
• 9:19
  A
• 9:19
  lot
• 9:20
  like
• 9:20
  rabbit,
• 9:20
  but
• 9:21
  coarser
• 9:21
  and
• 9:21
  more
• 9:22
  translucent
• 9:23
  and
• 9:23
  just
• 9:23
  magical
• 9:24
  stuff.
• 9:24
  And
• 9:25
  the
• 9:25
  hide
• 9:25
  is
• 9:25
  super
• 9:25
  thin
• 9:26
  compared
• 9:26
  to
• 9:26
  rabbit.
• 9:27
  I
• 9:27
  mean,
• 9:27
  you
• 9:28
  can
• 9:28
  cut
• 9:28
  a
• 9:29
  strip
• 9:29
  off
• 9:29
  of
• 9:29
  this
• 9:29
  thing
• 9:30
  and
• 9:31
  wrap
• 9:32
  it,
• 9:32
  and
• 9:32
  there
• 9:33
  is
• 9:33
  no
• 9:34
  bulk
• 9:35
  at
• 9:35
  all.
• 9:36
  And
• 9:38
  dense,
• 9:38
  dense,
• 9:39
  translucent
• 9:40
  hair
• 9:40
  that
• 9:40
  goes
• 9:41
  all
• 9:41
  the
• 9:41
  way
• 9:41
  from
• 9:41
  graphite
• 9:42
  gray
• 9:43
  to
• 9:43
  peach
• 9:45
  to
• 9:45
  tan
• 9:46
  to
• 9:46
  rust,
• 9:48
  all
• 9:48
  in
• 9:48
  the
• 9:48
  same
• 9:49
  skin.
• 9:49
  And
• 9:49
  every
• 9:49
  single
• 9:50
  one
• 9:50
  of
• 9:50
  them
• 9:50
  is
• 9:50
  different.
• 9:51
  And
• 9:53
  honestly,
• 9:54
  it
• 9:54
  was
• 9:54
  looking
• 9:55
  at
• 9:55
  that
• 9:55
  and
• 9:56
  looking
• 9:56
  at
• 9:56
  this,
• 9:57
  and
• 9:58
  I'm
• 9:58
  like,
• 9:59
  we're
• 9:59
  going
• 9:59
  to
• 9:59
  do
• 10:00
  a
• 10:00
  tail
• 10:00
  of
• 10:00
  marabou
• 10:01
  instead
• 10:02
  of
• 10:02
  clouser
• 10:03
  eyes,
• 10:04
  and
• 10:05
  we're
• 10:05
  going
• 10:05
  to
• 10:06
  fill
• 10:06
  around
• 10:07
  the
• 10:07
  lead
• 10:07
  eyes
• 10:07
  with
• 10:08
  this
• 10:08
  fur,
• 10:08
  this
• 10:09
  beautiful
• 10:09
  fur.
• 10:11
  And
• 10:11
  we
• 10:11
  can
• 10:11
  control
• 10:11
  the
• 10:12
  color
• 10:13
  and
• 10:13
  make
• 10:13
  it
• 10:14
  just
• 10:14
  like
• 10:14
  the
• 10:14
  fucking
• 10:15
  minnows
• 10:15
  in
• 10:15
  this.
• 10:16
  In
• 10:16
  this
• 10:16
  creek.
• 10:18
  And
• 10:18
  I
• 10:18
  remember
• 10:19
  tying
• 10:20
  the
• 10:20
  first
• 10:20
  few.
• 10:20
  And
• 10:21
  we
• 10:21
  use
• 10:21
  cree
• 10:21
  hackles
• 10:22
  because,
• 10:22
  I
• 10:22
  mean,
• 10:23
  you
• 10:23
  know,
• 10:24
  anytime
• 10:24
  you're
• 10:24
  tying
• 10:24
  a
• 10:24
  trout
• 10:25
  fly
• 10:25
  and
• 10:25
  you
• 10:25
  can
• 10:25
  put
• 10:25
  a
• 10:25
  cree
• 10:26
  hackle
• 10:26
  in
• 10:26
  there,
• 10:27
  why
• 10:27
  wouldn't
• 10:27
  you?
• 10:27
  Because
• 10:28
  that
• 10:28
  stuff
• 10:28
  is
• 10:28
  solid
• 10:29
  gold.
• 10:29
  I
• 10:30
  mean,
• 10:30
  it's
• 10:30
  a
• 10:31
  genetic
• 10:32
  miscreant
• 10:34
  and
• 10:36
  super
• 10:36
  rare
• 10:37
  and
• 10:37
  super
• 10:37
  fun
• 10:38
  and
• 10:38
  super
• 10:38
  effective.
• 10:39
  And
• 10:40
  so
• 10:40
  we
• 10:41
  did
• 10:42
  ring
• 10:42
  neck
• 10:43
  pheasant
• 10:43
  hill
• 10:43
  maru
• 10:44
  out
• 10:45
  the
• 10:45
  back,
• 10:46
  lead
• 10:46
  eyes
• 10:47
  like
• 10:47
  a
• 10:47
  clauser,
• 10:48
  and
• 10:48
  fur
• 10:49
  around
• 10:49
  the
• 10:49
  lead
• 10:50
  eyes,
• 10:50
  and
• 10:50
  then
• 10:51
  cup
• 10:52
  in
• 10:52
  a
• 10:52
  couple
• 10:52
  hackles
• 10:53
  right
• 10:53
  over
• 10:54
  the
• 10:54
  top
• 10:54
  of
• 10:54
  the
• 10:54
  lead
• 10:54
  eyes
• 10:55
  with
• 10:55
  a
• 10:55
  little
• 10:55
  bit
• 10:55
  of
• 10:55
  flash.
• 10:57
  And
• 10:57
  I
• 10:58
  remember
• 10:58
  quite
• 10:59
  distinctly
• 11:00
  the
• 11:00
  brown
• 11:00
  trout
• 11:00
  in
• 11:01
  the
• 11:01
  spring
• 11:01
  creek
• 11:01
  that
• 11:01
  I'm
• 11:02
  not
• 11:02
  supposed
• 11:02
  to
• 11:02
  fish.
• 11:02
  I
• 11:03
  am
• 11:03
  poaching
• 11:03
  at
• 11:03
  this
• 11:03
  point,
• 11:05
  but
• 11:05
  I'm
• 11:05
  18
• 11:05
  years
• 11:06
  old.
• 11:06
  I
• 11:06
  can
• 11:06
  get
• 11:06
  away
• 11:06
  with
• 11:07
  this.
• 11:08
  And
• 11:08
  they
• 11:08
  came
• 11:09
  absolutely
• 11:09
  unglued
• 11:10
  for
• 11:10
  it.
• 11:11
  And
• 11:11
  we
• 11:12
  took
• 11:12
  it
• 11:12
  down
• 11:13
  to
• 11:13
  smallmouth
• 11:14
  land
• 11:15
  just
• 11:15
  downstream
• 11:16
  from
• 11:16
  there.
• 11:17
  I
• 11:17
  mean,
• 11:17
  just
• 11:18
  not
• 11:18
  even
• 11:18
  a
• 11:18
  mile
• 11:19
  and
• 11:19
  caught
• 11:20
  a
• 11:20
  bunch
• 11:20
  of
• 11:20
  smallmouth.
• 11:21
  And
• 11:21
  it's
• 11:22
  like,
• 11:22
  dude,
• 11:23
  we're
• 11:23
  imitating
• 11:24
  bait
• 11:24
  fish.
• 11:24
  This
• 11:25
  is
• 11:25
  what
• 11:25
  we're
• 11:25
  doing.
• 11:26
  And
• 11:26
  we
• 11:26
  got
• 11:27
  a
• 11:27
  good
• 11:27
  one.
• 11:29
  Very,
• 11:29
  very
• 11:29
  neat.
• 11:29
  Any
• 11:30
  Kind
• 11:30
  of
• 11:30
  materials
• 11:30
  as
• 11:31
  you
• 11:31
  kind
• 11:31
  of
• 11:31
  tinkered
• 11:32
  on
• 11:32
  the
• 11:32
  kind
• 11:32
  of
• 11:32
  the,
• 11:33
  I
• 11:33
  guess,
• 11:33
  quote,
• 11:33
  final
• 11:34
  design
• 11:34
  that
• 11:34
  didn't
• 11:35
  make
• 11:35
  the
• 11:35
  cut.
• 11:36
  Well,
• 11:37
  we're
• 11:37
  not
• 11:37
  set
• 11:38
  on
• 11:38
  the
• 11:38
  final
• 11:38
  design.
• 11:39
  I
• 11:39
  mean,
• 11:40
  just
• 11:40
  like
• 11:40
  any
• 11:40
  good
• 11:40
  work,
• 11:41
  it's
• 11:41
  a
• 11:41
  work
• 11:41
  in
• 11:42
  progress.
• 11:43
  But
• 11:44
  yes,
• 11:44
  instead
• 11:45
  of
• 11:45
  the
• 11:45
  Aussie
• 11:46
  possum,
• 11:46
  which
• 11:46
  only
• 11:46
  works
• 11:47
  really
• 11:47
  good
• 11:47
  for
• 11:48
  the
• 11:48
  small
• 11:49
  little
• 11:49
  natural
• 11:50
  creek
• 11:50
  ones,
• 11:51
  we
• 11:52
  started
• 11:52
  using
• 11:52
  different
• 11:52
  material,
• 11:53
  different
• 11:54
  marabou.
• 11:55
  You
• 11:55
  know,
• 11:55
  instead
• 11:56
  of
• 11:56
  the
• 11:57
  pheasant
• 11:57
  marabou,
• 11:57
  which
• 11:58
  you
• 11:58
  only
• 11:59
  get
• 11:59
  a
• 11:59
  couple
• 11:59
  of
• 11:59
  feathers
• 12:00
  per
• 12:00
  bird,
• 12:01
  you
• 12:01
  know,
• 12:01
  you
• 12:02
  can
• 12:02
  use
• 12:02
  turkey
• 12:02
  marabou
• 12:03
  and
• 12:03
  use
• 12:03
  whatever
• 12:03
  color
• 12:04
  you
• 12:04
  want
• 12:04
  to
• 12:06
  in
• 12:06
  whatever
• 12:07
  size
• 12:07
  you
• 12:07
  want
• 12:07
  to.
• 12:07
  You
• 12:08
  can
• 12:08
  get
• 12:08
  much
• 12:08
  bigger
• 12:08
  marabou
• 12:09
  there.
• 12:10
  And
• 12:10
  then,
• 12:11
  well,
• 12:11
  we
• 12:11
  need
• 12:11
  a
• 12:11
  bigger
• 12:12
  fur
• 12:12
  than
• 12:12
  Aussie
• 12:13
  possum.
• 12:13
  Well,
• 12:14
  what's
• 12:14
  the
• 12:14
  next
• 12:15
  best
• 12:15
  one?
• 12:15
  It's
• 12:16
  arctic
• 12:17
  foxtail
• 12:17
  or
• 12:18
  red
• 12:18
  foxtail
• 12:18
  or
• 12:19
  gray
• 12:19
  foxtail
• 12:20
  or
• 12:20
  even
• 12:20
  a
• 12:20
  coyote
• 12:21
  if
• 12:21
  you
• 12:21
  want
• 12:21
  to.
• 12:23
  And
• 12:23
  you
• 12:23
  can
• 12:25
  get
• 12:25
  as
• 12:25
  big
• 12:26
  as
• 12:26
  you
• 12:26
  need
• 12:26
  to
• 12:27
  with
• 12:27
  them.
• 12:28
  And
• 12:29
  it's
• 12:29
  not
• 12:29
  just
• 12:30
  a
• 12:30
  trout
• 12:30
  fly.
• 12:31
  It's
• 12:31
  not
• 12:31
  just
• 12:31
  small
• 12:32
  enough
• 12:32
  flights.
• 12:33
  It's
• 12:33
  any
• 12:34
  fish
• 12:34
  that
• 12:34
  wants
• 12:34
  the
• 12:35
  amino
• 12:35
  because
• 12:36
  you
• 12:36
  can
• 12:36
  scale
• 12:36
  it
• 12:36
  up
• 12:37
  or
• 12:37
  scale
• 12:37
  it
• 12:37
  down.
• 12:37
  You
• 12:38
  can
• 12:38
  put
• 12:38
  two
• 12:38
  hooks
• 12:39
  in
• 12:39
  it,
• 12:39
  you
• 12:39
  put
• 12:40
  one
• 12:40
  big
• 12:40
  hook
• 12:40
  in
• 12:40
  it
• 12:41
  and
• 12:41
  make
• 12:41
  it
• 12:41
  six
• 12:41
  inches
• 12:42
  long.
• 12:43
  And
• 12:44
  so,
• 12:44
  you
• 12:44
  know,
• 12:44
  if
• 12:44
  you
• 12:44
  are
• 12:45
  generally
• 12:46
  imitating
• 12:46
  bait
• 12:46
  fish,
• 12:47
  do
• 12:47
  you
• 12:47
  generally
• 12:48
  stick
• 12:48
  to
• 12:48
  kind
• 12:49
  of
• 12:49
  natural
• 12:49
  color
• 12:50
  combinations
• 12:50
  or
• 12:50
  do
• 12:50
  you
• 12:51
  kind
• 12:51
  of
• 12:51
  have
• 12:51
  natural
• 12:51
  and
• 12:52
  then
• 12:52
  kind
• 12:52
  of
• 12:52
  attractor
• 12:52
  color
• 12:53
  patterns
• 12:53
  you
• 12:53
  like?
• 12:54
  Oh,
• 12:54
  no,
• 12:54
  for
• 12:54
  sure.
• 12:55
  Definitely
• 12:55
  tractor
• 12:56
  color
• 12:56
  patterns
• 12:57
  too.
• 12:59
  You
• 12:59
  know
• 12:59
  my
• 13:00
  take
• 13:00
  on
• 13:00
  color
• 13:03
  trout
• 13:04
  fishing,
• 13:04
  maybe
• 13:05
  small
• 13:06
  Mount
• 13:06
  bash
• 13:06
  bass
• 13:07
  fishing.
• 13:08
  The
• 13:09
  dirtier
• 13:09
  the
• 13:09
  water,
• 13:10
  the
• 13:10
  birder
• 13:10
  I
• 13:10
  want
• 13:11
  the
• 13:11
  fly.
• 13:13
  The
• 13:13
  clearer
• 13:14
  the
• 13:14
  water,
• 13:14
  the
• 13:14
  more
• 13:15
  I
• 13:15
  want
• 13:15
  it
• 13:15
  muted,
• 13:16
  subdued.
• 13:18
  And
• 13:18
  that's
• 13:18
  where
• 13:18
  like
• 13:19
  that
• 13:19
  pheasant
• 13:19
  marabou,
• 13:20
  which
• 13:20
  is
• 13:21
  unbelievable
• 13:22
  stuff,
• 13:22
  you
• 13:23
  can
• 13:23
  get
• 13:23
  it.
• 13:23
  If
• 13:23
  you
• 13:24
  have
• 13:24
  a
• 13:24
  friend
• 13:24
  that
• 13:25
  shoots
• 13:25
  pheasants,
• 13:26
  get
• 13:26
  them
• 13:26
  to
• 13:26
  save
• 13:27
  you
• 13:27
  every
• 13:28
  feather
• 13:28
  that
• 13:28
  he
• 13:28
  can
• 13:28
  because
• 13:29
  it's
• 13:29
  solid
• 13:29
  gold,
• 13:31
  but
• 13:31
  you
• 13:31
  can
• 13:31
  do
• 13:32
  it
• 13:32
  in
• 13:32
  any
• 13:32
  color.
• 13:33
  Yeah.
• 13:34
  That's
• 13:34
  interesting
• 13:34
  because
• 13:34
  it
• 13:35
  makes
• 13:35
  me
• 13:35
  think
• 13:36
  with
• 13:36
  you
• 13:36
  being
• 13:37
  in
• 13:37
  Montana,
• 13:37
  not
• 13:38
  now,
• 13:38
  but
• 13:38
  normally
• 13:39
  bird
• 13:40
  season
• 13:40
  is
• 13:40
  coming
• 13:40
  up,
• 13:40
  so
• 13:41
  everybody
• 13:41
  needs
• 13:41
  to
• 13:41
  get
• 13:41
  their
• 13:42
  orders
• 13:42
  into
• 13:42
  their
• 13:42
  buddies.
• 13:43
  Right?
• 13:44
  Right.
• 13:45
  And
• 13:45
  we
• 13:46
  just
• 13:46
  started
• 13:46
  dove
• 13:46
  season
• 13:46
  too,
• 13:47
  so
• 13:47
  that's
• 13:47
  a
• 13:47
  good
• 13:48
  place
• 13:48
  to
• 13:48
  pick
• 13:48
  up
• 13:48
  a
• 13:48
  few
• 13:49
  feathers.
• 13:50
  Oh,
• 13:50
  my
• 13:50
  goodness.
• 13:50
  Absolutely.
• 13:52
  So
• 13:53
  you
• 13:53
  had
• 13:53
  mentioned
• 13:53
  a
• 13:53
  two
• 13:53
  hook
• 13:54
  variation.
• 13:54
  I
• 13:54
  know
• 13:55
  all
• 13:55
  of
• 13:55
  the
• 13:55
  tying
• 13:56
  nerds
• 13:56
  are
• 13:56
  going
• 13:56
  to
• 13:56
  want
• 13:56
  to
• 13:57
  know
• 13:57
  kind
• 13:57
  of
• 13:57
  your
• 13:57
  preferred
• 13:58
  way
• 13:58
  to
• 13:58
  secure
• 13:59
  that
• 13:59
  second
• 13:59
  hook.
• 14:02
  I
• 14:02
  would
• 14:02
  say
• 14:03
  for
• 14:04
  me,
• 14:04
  lately
• 14:04
  I
• 14:05
  haven't
• 14:06
  found
• 14:06
  a
• 14:06
  better
• 14:07
  way
• 14:07
  than
• 14:08
  some
• 14:08
  like
• 14:10
  30
• 14:10
  pound
• 14:10
  Berkeley
• 14:11
  wire
• 14:13
  and
• 14:13
  a
• 14:13
  couple
• 14:14
  of
• 14:14
  beads.
• 14:14
  And
• 14:15
  what
• 14:15
  do
• 14:15
  you
• 14:16
  want
• 14:16
  to
• 14:16
  do
• 14:17
  with
• 14:17
  those
• 14:17
  beads,
• 14:18
  you
• 14:18
  know,
• 14:18
  in
• 14:18
  between
• 14:18
  the
• 14:19
  two
• 14:19
  hooks.
• 14:20
  You
• 14:21
  know,
• 14:21
  I
• 14:21
  would
• 14:21
  say
• 14:22
  heavy.
• 14:22
  I
• 14:22
  mean,
• 14:23
  for
• 14:23
  me,
• 14:23
  where
• 14:23
  I
• 14:24
  fish,
• 14:24
  it's
• 14:24
  heavy
• 14:24
  because
• 14:25
  we're
• 14:25
  dealing
• 14:25
  with
• 14:26
  heavy,
• 14:26
  violent
• 14:27
  water.
• 14:27
  And
• 14:27
  that's
• 14:28
  where
• 14:28
  we
• 14:28
  do
• 14:28
  good.
• 14:30
  A
• 14:30
  fly
• 14:31
  that'll,
• 14:31
  you
• 14:32
  know,
• 14:32
  get
• 14:32
  down
• 14:32
  and
• 14:33
  stay
• 14:33
  down,
• 14:33
  track
• 14:33
  down
• 14:34
  and
• 14:34
  stuff.
• 14:34
  But,
• 14:35
  you
• 14:35
  know,
• 14:35
  you
• 14:36
  don't
• 14:36
  have
• 14:36
  to
• 14:36
  make
• 14:36
  it
• 14:37
  that
• 14:37
  heavy.
• 14:39
  But
• 14:39
  yes,
• 14:40
  there
• 14:40
  is
• 14:40
  definitely
• 14:41
  a
• 14:41
  two
• 14:41
  hook
• 14:41
  version
• 14:42
  of
• 14:42
  it.
• 14:44
  And
• 14:44
  do
• 14:44
  you
• 14:44
  have
• 14:44
  a
• 14:44
  preferred,
• 14:45
  like
• 14:45
  some
• 14:45
  preferred
• 14:46
  size
• 14:46
  configurations,
• 14:47
  front
• 14:47
  hook,
• 14:48
  back
• 14:48
  hook
• 14:48
  that
• 14:48
  you
• 14:48
  want
• 14:49
  to
• 14:49
  share
• 14:49
  with
• 14:49
  folks?
• 14:50
  You
• 14:50
  know,
• 14:51
  honestly,
• 14:52
  since
• 14:52
  the
• 14:52
  Kelly
• 14:53
  Gallup
• 14:53
  revolution
• 14:54
  as
• 14:55
  far
• 14:55
  as
• 14:55
  articulated
• 14:56
  flies,
• 14:56
  my
• 14:56
  flies
• 14:57
  have
• 14:58
  consistently
• 14:58
  gotten
• 14:59
  smaller
• 14:59
  since
• 14:59
  then.
• 15:02
  You
• 15:02
  know,
• 15:03
  back
• 15:03
  in
• 15:03
  the
• 15:03
  day,
• 15:03
  back
• 15:04
  20
• 15:04
  years
• 15:04
  ago
• 15:05
  when
• 15:05
  I
• 15:05
  was,
• 15:07
  you
• 15:07
  know,
• 15:07
  fishing
• 15:08
  my
• 15:08
  water,
• 15:08
  you
• 15:08
  had
• 15:09
  an
• 15:09
  advantage.
• 15:09
  With
• 15:10
  a
• 15:10
  bigger
• 15:10
  fly,
• 15:10
  you're
• 15:11
  showing
• 15:11
  them
• 15:11
  something
• 15:12
  different.
• 15:13
  And
• 15:13
  those
• 15:13
  days
• 15:13
  are
• 15:13
  gone.
• 15:15
  So
• 15:15
  everything
• 15:15
  is
• 15:16
  shrunken,
• 15:18
  small
• 15:18
  to
• 15:19
  where
• 15:19
  we're
• 15:19
  now
• 15:21
  not
• 15:21
  only
• 15:21
  tiny,
• 15:22
  but
• 15:22
  tiny
• 15:23
  and
• 15:23
  articulated.
• 15:24
  And
• 15:25
  that's
• 15:25
  fine.
• 15:26
  I
• 15:26
  mean,
• 15:26
  that's
• 15:26
  the
• 15:26
  way
• 15:27
  things
• 15:27
  go.
• 15:29
  Yeah.
• 15:29
  So
• 15:29
  you're
• 15:29
  tying
• 15:30
  like
• 15:30
  smaller
• 15:30
  stinger
• 15:31
  hooks
• 15:31
  on
• 15:31
  the
• 15:31
  back,
• 15:31
  right?
• 15:32
  Yes.
• 15:34
  Pair
• 15:34
  of
• 15:34
  sixes,
• 15:35
  pair
• 15:35
  eights,
• 15:37
  pair
• 15:37
  of
• 15:38
  lead
• 15:38
  eyes,
• 15:39
  you
• 15:39
  know,
• 15:39
  same
• 15:40
  rig,
• 15:40
  you
• 15:40
  know,
• 15:41
  7,
• 15:42
  8
• 15:42
  weight,
• 15:43
  250,
• 15:43
  300
• 15:44
  grain
• 15:44
  line.
• 15:45
  And
• 15:45
  trying
• 15:45
  to
• 15:45
  fish
• 15:46
  some
• 15:46
  heavy
• 15:46
  water
• 15:47
  on
• 15:47
  my
• 15:47
  river
• 15:49
  that
• 15:49
  is
• 15:50
  a
• 15:50
  consistent
• 15:51
  marker
• 15:51
  for
• 15:51
  good
• 15:51
  fishing.
• 15:52
  The
• 15:52
  heavier
• 15:53
  the
• 15:53
  water,
• 15:53
  the
• 15:53
  better.
• 15:55
  And
• 15:57
  you
• 15:57
  know,
• 15:57
  a
• 15:57
  fly
• 15:58
  that
• 15:58
  you
• 15:58
  can
• 15:58
  fish
• 15:59
  fast
• 16:01
  and
• 16:02
  you
• 16:02
  can
• 16:02
  fish
• 16:02
  slow.
• 16:04
  And
• 16:04
  what
• 16:05
  I
• 16:05
  mean
• 16:05
  by
• 16:05
  slow
• 16:06
  is
• 16:06
  like
• 16:07
  the
• 16:07
  fly
• 16:08
  has
• 16:08
  its
• 16:09
  own
• 16:09
  action
• 16:10
  whether
• 16:11
  you're
• 16:11
  stripping
• 16:12
  or
• 16:13
  not.
• 16:16
  Because
• 16:16
  there
• 16:16
  is
• 16:17
  an
• 16:17
  advantage
• 16:17
  to
• 16:18
  a
• 16:18
  slow
• 16:19
  moving
• 16:19
  fly
• 16:21
  in
• 16:21
  really,
• 16:22
  really
• 16:22
  fast
• 16:23
  water.
• 16:23
  Because
• 16:23
  I
• 16:23
  mean,
• 16:24
  think
• 16:24
  about
• 16:24
  it
• 16:24
  from
• 16:24
  the
• 16:25
  fish's
• 16:25
  perspective.
• 16:26
  You
• 16:26
  know,
• 16:26
  you're
• 16:27
  a
• 16:27
  20
• 16:28
  inch
• 16:28
  brown
• 16:28
  trout
• 16:29
  sitting
• 16:29
  and
• 16:29
  screaming
• 16:30
  fast
• 16:30
  water
• 16:30
  to
• 16:31
  get
• 16:31
  away
• 16:31
  from
• 16:31
  all
• 16:31
  the
• 16:32
  bullshit,
• 16:33
  right?
• 16:34
  Everything
• 16:34
  is
• 16:35
  a
• 16:35
  maelstrom
• 16:36
  at
• 16:36
  that
• 16:36
  point,
• 16:37
  right?
• 16:38
  And
• 16:39
  you're,
• 16:40
  you're
• 16:40
  seeing
• 16:41
  stuff
• 16:41
  in
• 16:41
  that
• 16:42
  fast
• 16:42
  water.
• 16:42
  You're
• 16:43
  sitting
• 16:43
  on
• 16:43
  a
• 16:43
  screaming
• 16:44
  fast
• 16:44
  stream
• 16:46
  scene.
• 16:46
  I'm
• 16:47
  sorry.
• 16:48
  And
• 16:50
  you
• 16:50
  know,
• 16:51
  everything's
• 16:52
  a
• 16:52
  blur.
• 16:53
  And
• 16:53
  here
• 16:54
  comes
• 16:54
  a
• 16:54
  dude
• 16:54
  fly
• 16:55
  fishing,
• 16:56
  throwing
• 16:56
  a
• 16:56
  streamer,
• 16:57
  maybe
• 16:57
  throwing
• 16:57
  an
• 16:58
  articulated
• 16:58
  streamer
• 16:59
  move,
• 16:59
  the
• 17:00
  single
• 17:00
  hook
• 17:01
  streamer
• 17:01
  and
• 17:02
  the
• 17:02
  flies
• 17:02
  moving
• 17:03
  fast
• 17:03
  in
• 17:03
  that
• 17:03
  screaming
• 17:04
  fast
• 17:04
  water
• 17:05
  that
• 17:05
  looks
• 17:05
  like
• 17:05
  a
• 17:06
  maelstrom,
• 17:07
  you
• 17:07
  might
• 17:08
  not
• 17:08
  see
• 17:08
  it,
• 17:08
  you
• 17:08
  might
• 17:09
  not
• 17:09
  catch
• 17:09
  it.
• 17:10
  And
• 17:10
  if
• 17:10
  you
• 17:10
  did,
• 17:11
  you
• 17:11
  might
• 17:12
  chase
• 17:12
  it.
• 17:12
  Oh,
• 17:13
  I
• 17:13
  gotta
• 17:13
  chase,
• 17:14
  right?
• 17:15
  But
• 17:15
  if
• 17:16
  you
• 17:16
  were
• 17:16
  in
• 17:16
  that
• 17:16
  same
• 17:17
  water
• 17:17
  with
• 17:17
  a
• 17:17
  fly
• 17:18
  that
• 17:18
  moved
• 17:18
  on
• 17:19
  itself
• 17:21
  and
• 17:21
  you
• 17:21
  were
• 17:21
  efficient,
• 17:22
  slow
• 17:22
  and
• 17:22
  you
• 17:23
  covered
• 17:23
  it
• 17:23
  more,
• 17:25
  you
• 17:25
  give
• 17:25
  that
• 17:25
  fish
• 17:26
  a
• 17:26
  chance
• 17:26
  to
• 17:27
  bite
• 17:27
  it
• 17:27
  and
• 17:28
  they're
• 17:28
  there.
• 17:29
  But
• 17:29
  the
• 17:31
  circumstances
• 17:32
  around
• 17:33
  where
• 17:33
  that
• 17:34
  fish
• 17:34
  Lives.
• 17:34
  And
• 17:35
  what
• 17:35
  you
• 17:35
  got
• 17:35
  to
• 17:35
  do
• 17:36
  to
• 17:36
  do
• 17:36
  it,
• 17:37
  you
• 17:38
  got
• 17:38
  to
• 17:38
  be.
• 17:38
  You
• 17:38
  need
• 17:39
  a
• 17:39
  slow
• 17:40
  moving
• 17:40
  fly
• 17:42
  that
• 17:43
  still
• 17:43
  looks
• 17:43
  good,
• 17:43
  still
• 17:44
  gets
• 17:44
  bit
• 17:46
  and
• 17:47
  you
• 17:47
  know,
• 17:47
  fly
• 17:48
  like
• 17:48
  the
• 17:48
  home
• 17:48
  invader
• 17:49
  that's
• 17:49
  got,
• 17:49
  you
• 17:50
  know,
• 17:50
  every
• 17:50
  single
• 17:51
  thing
• 17:51
  outside
• 17:51
  of
• 17:51
  the
• 17:52
  hook
• 17:52
  and
• 17:52
  lead
• 17:52
  eyes
• 17:53
  know
• 17:53
  the
• 17:53
  flash,
• 17:54
  the
• 17:54
  hackles,
• 17:55
  the
• 17:56
  marabou,
• 17:56
  the
• 17:56
  fur,
• 17:57
  they
• 17:57
  all
• 17:58
  move.
• 17:58
  It
• 17:58
  looks
• 17:58
  alive,
• 17:59
  like
• 17:59
  you
• 17:59
  can
• 17:59
  just
• 18:00
  drag
• 18:00
  it
• 18:00
  in
• 18:00
  the
• 18:00
  current.
• 18:00
  It
• 18:01
  looks
• 18:01
  alive.
• 18:03
  A
• 18:03
  fly
• 18:04
  that
• 18:04
  fishes
• 18:05
  good
• 18:05
  slow,
• 18:06
  there's
• 18:07
  a
• 18:07
  lot
• 18:07
  of
• 18:08
  trout,
• 18:08
  streamers
• 18:09
  and
• 18:09
  streamers
• 18:10
  in
• 18:10
  general
• 18:11
  that
• 18:11
  fish
• 18:11
  good
• 18:11
  fast.
• 18:12
  But
• 18:12
  does
• 18:13
  your
• 18:13
  fly
• 18:14
  fish
• 18:14
  good
• 18:14
  slow
• 18:16
  in
• 18:16
  those
• 18:17
  greasy
• 18:17
  spots
• 18:18
  where,
• 18:20
  you
• 18:21
  know,
• 18:22
  stuff
• 18:22
  gets
• 18:23
  bit?
• 18:25
  Yeah.
• 18:25
  It's
• 18:25
  interesting
• 18:26
  because
• 18:26
  I
• 18:26
  think
• 18:26
  a
• 18:26
  lot
• 18:26
  of
• 18:26
  times
• 18:27
  people
• 18:27
  don't
• 18:27
  understand,
• 18:28
  you
• 18:28
  know,
• 18:29
  the
• 18:29
  decision
• 18:29
  a
• 18:30
  big
• 18:30
  fish
• 18:30
  has
• 18:31
  to
• 18:31
  make
• 18:31
  to
• 18:31
  kind
• 18:31
  of,
• 18:31
  for
• 18:32
  lack
• 18:32
  of
• 18:32
  a
• 18:32
  better
• 18:32
  word,
• 18:32
  to
• 18:33
  swim
• 18:33
  up
• 18:33
  in
• 18:33
  the
• 18:33
  tornado
• 18:34
  to
• 18:34
  go
• 18:34
  chase
• 18:34
  up
• 18:34
  fly.
• 18:35
  And
• 18:35
  that
• 18:35
  makes
• 18:36
  it
• 18:36
  a
• 18:36
  lot
• 18:36
  harder.
• 18:37
  Right.
• 18:37
  And
• 18:38
  you
• 18:38
  know,
• 18:38
  particularly
• 18:39
  these
• 18:39
  days
• 18:39
  where
• 18:40
  I
• 18:40
  mean,
• 18:40
  these
• 18:40
  fish
• 18:41
  are
• 18:41
  premium
• 18:41
  and
• 18:42
  they're
• 18:42
  being
• 18:42
  fished
• 18:43
  too.
• 18:44
  And
• 18:45
  you
• 18:46
  know
• 18:46
  where
• 18:46
  those
• 18:47
  fish
• 18:47
  go
• 18:48
  when
• 18:48
  they're
• 18:49
  pressured,
• 18:49
  they
• 18:50
  get
• 18:50
  into
• 18:51
  extremely
• 18:52
  difficult
• 18:52
  spots,
• 18:53
  spots
• 18:53
  that
• 18:54
  you
• 18:54
  know
• 18:54
  you're
• 18:55
  going
• 18:55
  by
• 18:55
  and
• 18:55
  even
• 18:56
  a
• 18:57
  properly
• 18:58
  row
• 18:58
  drift
• 18:59
  boat,
• 18:59
  you
• 18:59
  know,
• 19:00
  I
• 19:00
  mean,
• 19:00
  maybe
• 19:01
  you
• 19:01
  get
• 19:01
  one
• 19:01
  cast
• 19:02
  in
• 19:02
  there,
• 19:02
  if
• 19:02
  you
• 19:03
  blink
• 19:03
  or
• 19:04
  make
• 19:04
  a
• 19:04
  cast
• 19:05
  in
• 19:05
  the
• 19:05
  wrong
• 19:05
  spot,
• 19:06
  you're.
• 19:06
  You're
• 19:07
  not
• 19:07
  even
• 19:07
  showing
• 19:08
  them
• 19:08
  the
• 19:08
  fly.
• 19:12
  Yeah,
• 19:12
  I've
• 19:12
  had
• 19:12
  some
• 19:12
  of
• 19:13
  those
• 19:13
  boat
• 19:13
  arguments
• 19:13
  before
• 19:14
  with
• 19:14
  guides.
• 19:14
  Right.
• 19:15
  Missing
• 19:15
  the
• 19:15
  shot.
• 19:16
  Sure,
• 19:17
  absolutely.
• 19:18
  Yeah.
• 19:19
  Because
• 19:19
  they
• 19:19
  saw
• 19:19
  it
• 19:20
  and
• 19:20
  maybe
• 19:20
  we
• 19:20
  didn't
• 19:21
  and
• 19:21
  you
• 19:22
  know,
• 19:22
  stuff
• 19:22
  gets
• 19:22
  sideways.
• 19:23
  Yeah.
• 19:23
  Or
• 19:23
  you
• 19:24
  find
• 19:24
  those
• 19:24
  like
• 19:24
  eddies
• 19:25
  where
• 19:25
  you're
• 19:25
  coming
• 19:25
  down
• 19:25
  a
• 19:26
  fast
• 19:26
  trough
• 19:26
  and
• 19:26
  you
• 19:26
  got
• 19:27
  to
• 19:27
  kind
• 19:27
  of
• 19:27
  cast
• 19:27
  back
• 19:27
  behind
• 19:28
  up,
• 19:28
  back
• 19:28
  behind
• 19:28
  the
• 19:28
  boat
• 19:29
  as
• 19:29
  you
• 19:29
  kind
• 19:29
  of
• 19:29
  come
• 19:29
  through
• 19:30
  and
• 19:30
  if
• 19:30
  you
• 19:30
  don't
• 19:31
  get
• 19:31
  it
• 19:31
  right,
• 19:31
  you're
• 19:31
  kind
• 19:31
  of
• 19:31
  screwed.
• 19:32
  So.
• 19:33
  Yeah,
• 19:33
  yeah.
• 19:34
  And,
• 19:35
  and
• 19:35
  honestly,
• 19:36
  I
• 19:36
  mean,
• 19:36
  my
• 19:36
  home
• 19:37
  fishery,
• 19:37
  it's.
• 19:38
  We
• 19:38
  have
• 19:38
  a
• 19:39
  lot
• 19:39
  of
• 19:39
  fast
• 19:40
  water
• 19:40
  on
• 19:40
  the
• 19:41
  Yellowstone,
• 19:42
  you
• 19:42
  know,
• 19:42
  in
• 19:42
  Paradise
• 19:43
  Valley
• 19:43
  and
• 19:43
  below.
• 19:45
  And
• 19:46
  when
• 19:46
  things
• 19:47
  get
• 19:47
  tougher,
• 19:48
  those
• 19:48
  fish
• 19:48
  move
• 19:49
  up
• 19:49
  and
• 19:50
  those
• 19:50
  move
• 19:51
  up
• 19:51
  spots.
• 19:52
  I
• 19:52
  mean,
• 19:52
  if
• 19:53
  you're
• 19:53
  not,
• 19:53
  if
• 19:54
  you're
• 19:54
  not
• 19:54
  at
• 19:54
  the
• 19:55
  top
• 19:55
  of
• 19:55
  the
• 19:55
  spot,
• 19:58
  you're
• 19:58
  not
• 19:59
  getting
• 20:01
  even
• 20:01
  20%
• 20:02
  of
• 20:02
  it.
• 20:02
  And
• 20:03
  if
• 20:03
  they're
• 20:03
  in
• 20:03
  that
• 20:03
  back
• 20:04
  20%,
• 20:04
  maybe
• 20:04
  you
• 20:05
  got
• 20:05
  a
• 20:05
  shot.
• 20:05
  But
• 20:05
  like
• 20:06
  if
• 20:06
  you
• 20:06
  didn't
• 20:06
  show
• 20:06
  it
• 20:06
  to
• 20:06
  them
• 20:07
  the
• 20:07
  whole
• 20:07
  way,
• 20:08
  I
• 20:08
  mean,
• 20:08
  that's
• 20:08
  what
• 20:08
  it
• 20:08
  takes
• 20:09
  these
• 20:09
  days
• 20:10
  to
• 20:10
  get
• 20:10
  one
• 20:10
  of
• 20:10
  these
• 20:10
  things.
• 20:12
  Yeah.
• 20:12
  It's
• 20:12
  amazing
• 20:13
  how
• 20:13
  much
• 20:13
  fishing
• 20:14
  pressure
• 20:14
  has
• 20:14
  increased.
• 20:15
  I
• 20:15
  mean,
• 20:15
  it's
• 20:15
  kind
• 20:15
  of
• 20:15
  crazy
• 20:16
  even
• 20:16
  we
• 20:16
  were
• 20:16
  talking
• 20:16
  before
• 20:17
  we
• 20:17
  started
• 20:17
  recording
• 20:18
  and
• 20:18
  you
• 20:18
  know,
• 20:19
  I'm
• 20:19
  always
• 20:19
  amazed
• 20:20
  now
• 20:20
  you
• 20:20
  Go.
• 20:20
  Kind
• 20:21
  of
• 20:21
  what
• 20:21
  I
• 20:21
  would
• 20:21
  consider
• 20:21
  late,
• 20:22
  like
• 20:22
  late
• 20:22
  September,
• 20:23
  October,
• 20:24
  and
• 20:24
  you
• 20:24
  go
• 20:24
  by
• 20:25
  Kelly's
• 20:25
  place
• 20:25
  on
• 20:25
  the
• 20:26
  upper
• 20:26
  Madison
• 20:26
  and
• 20:26
  they're
• 20:27
  like
• 20:27
  25
• 20:27
  boats
• 20:28
  dropping.
• 20:29
  Right.
• 20:29
  I
• 20:30
  mean,
• 20:30
  it's
• 20:30
  kind
• 20:30
  of
• 20:30
  nuts
• 20:31
  really.
• 20:31
  Right.
• 20:33
  But
• 20:33
  you

• 20:35
  me,
• 20:35
  you
• 20:35
  know,
• 20:35
  if
• 20:35
  you
• 20:36
  see
• 20:36
  some
• 20:36
  common
• 20:36
  mistakes
• 20:37
  people
• 20:37
  make
• 20:38
  when
• 20:38
  they
• 20:39
  tie
• 20:39
  the
• 20:39
  fly
• 20:39
  either
• 20:39
  way
• 20:40
  with
• 20:40
  the
• 20:40
  way
• 20:40
  they
• 20:40
  tie
• 20:40
  the
• 20:40
  eyes
• 20:40
  in
• 20:41
  or
• 20:41
  weight
• 20:41
  the
• 20:41
  fly
• 20:42
  or
• 20:42
  proportions
• 20:42
  or
• 20:43
  things
• 20:43
  like
• 20:43
  that
• 20:43
  that
• 20:44
  our
• 20:44
  time
• 20:45
  buddies
• 20:45
  would.
• 20:45
  Love
• 20:45
  to
• 20:45
  know,
• 20:46
  I
• 20:47
  would
• 20:47
  say
• 20:47
  the
• 20:47
  most
• 20:48
  common
• 20:48
  mistake
• 20:49
  is
• 20:49
  too
• 20:49
  much
• 20:50
  like
• 20:50
  fox
• 20:51
  hair
• 20:52
  or
• 20:52
  a
• 20:52
  possum
• 20:53
  hair.
• 20:53
  Whatever
• 20:54
  hair
• 20:54
  you
• 20:54
  want
• 20:54
  to
• 20:54
  tie
• 20:54
  it.
• 20:55
  I
• 20:55
  mean,
• 20:55
  you
• 20:55
  can
• 20:55
  tie
• 20:56
  it
• 20:56
  with
• 20:56
  whatever
• 20:57
  kind
• 20:57
  of
• 20:57
  hair
• 20:57
  you
• 20:58
  want
• 20:58
  to,
• 20:58
  but
• 20:59
  if
• 20:59
  you
• 20:59
  use
• 20:59
  too
• 20:59
  much,
• 21:00
  it,
• 21:01
  you
• 21:01
  know,
• 21:01
  clogs
• 21:02
  up
• 21:02
  the
• 21:02
  eye
• 21:02
  of
• 21:03
  the
• 21:03
  hook,
• 21:04
  makes
• 21:04
  the
• 21:04
  next
• 21:05
  step,
• 21:05
  which
• 21:05
  is
• 21:05
  tying
• 21:06
  the
• 21:06
  hackles
• 21:06
  and
• 21:06
  the
• 21:06
  flash
• 21:07
  in,
• 21:08
  you
• 21:08
  know,
• 21:08
  maybe
• 21:09
  a
• 21:09
  little
• 21:09
  bit
• 21:09
  more
• 21:10
  tough.
• 21:10
  And
• 21:10
  it
• 21:10
  really
• 21:11
  doesn't
• 21:12
  make
• 21:13
  a
• 21:13
  better
• 21:13
  fly
• 21:14
  to
• 21:14
  swim.
• 21:15
  You
• 21:15
  know,
• 21:15
  the
• 21:16
  more
• 21:16
  hair
• 21:16
  you
• 21:16
  put
• 21:16
  on
• 21:17
  there,
• 21:17
  the
• 21:17
  more
• 21:18
  it
• 21:18
  drags,
• 21:18
  the
• 21:18
  more
• 21:19
  you
• 21:19
  want
• 21:19
  it
• 21:19
  down
• 21:19
  in
• 21:20
  fast
• 21:20
  water,
• 21:20
  the
• 21:21
  more
• 21:21
  it
• 21:21
  stays
• 21:21
  up,
• 21:22
  you
• 21:23
  know.
• 21:23
  So,
• 21:24
  you
• 21:24
  know,
• 21:24
  it's
• 21:24
  not
• 21:25
  a
• 21:25
  super
• 21:25
  durable
• 21:26
  fly,
• 21:27
  you
• 21:27
  know,
• 21:28
  tied
• 21:28
  right,
• 21:29
  but
• 21:30
  it's,
• 21:30
  you
• 21:30
  know,
• 21:30
  a
• 21:31
  fly
• 21:31
  that'll
• 21:31
  get
• 21:32
  reasonably
• 21:32
  down
• 21:33
  and
• 21:33
  push
• 21:34
  some
• 21:34
  water
• 21:35
  and
• 21:35
  show
• 21:36
  that
• 21:36
  it's
• 21:37
  alive
• 21:37
  and
• 21:37
  something
• 21:38
  eaten,
• 21:40
  something
• 21:40
  for
• 21:40
  these
• 21:41
  fish
• 21:41
  to
• 21:41
  eat,
• 21:42
  you
• 21:42
  know.
• 21:43
  Yeah.
• 21:43
  Any
• 21:43
  tricks
• 21:44
  for
• 21:44
  like
• 21:44
  the
• 21:45
  way
• 21:45
  you
• 21:45
  like
• 21:45
  to
• 21:45
  secure
• 21:45
  the
• 21:46
  eyes
• 21:46
  you
• 21:46
  can
• 21:46
  share
• 21:46
  with
• 21:47
  folks?
• 21:48
  Yeah,
• 21:48
  for
• 21:48
  sure.
• 21:49
  Put
• 21:49
  down,
• 21:50
  you
• 21:50
  know,
• 21:50
  beat
• 21:51
  a
• 21:51
  Zappa
• 21:51
  gap
• 21:52
  and
• 21:52
  take
• 21:53
  some
• 21:54
  lead
• 21:54
  wire
• 21:54
  and
• 21:54
  put
• 21:55
  some
• 21:55
  lead
• 21:55
  wire
• 21:55
  down
• 21:56
  and
• 21:56
  then
• 21:57
  tie
• 21:57
  your
• 21:57
  eyes
• 21:58
  over
• 21:58
  that
• 21:58
  lead
• 21:59
  wire,
• 22:00
  you
• 22:00
  know,
• 22:00
  with
• 22:00
  a
• 22:00
  bunch
• 22:01
  of
• 22:01
  thread
• 22:01
  with
• 22:01
  the
• 22:01
  figure
• 22:02
  eight
• 22:02
  method
• 22:02
  and
• 22:03
  squeeze
• 22:03
  it
• 22:03
  down
• 22:03
  with,
• 22:04
  with
• 22:04
  definitely
• 22:05
  some
• 22:05
  Zappa
• 22:05
  gap
• 22:06
  is,
• 22:06
  is
• 22:06
  the
• 22:07
  way
• 22:07
  to
• 22:07
  go.
• 22:07
  I
• 22:08
  mean,
• 22:08
  head
• 22:08
  cement
• 22:08
  is
• 22:09
  great,
• 22:09
  but
• 22:09
  it's
• 22:09
  a,
• 22:10
  it's,
• 22:10
  it's
• 22:10
  a
• 22:11
  varnish.
• 22:11
  You
• 22:11
  know,
• 22:12
  where
• 22:12
  zap
• 22:12
  gap
• 22:13
  is,
• 22:13
  you
• 22:13
  know,
• 22:14
  pretty
• 22:14
  damn
• 22:15
  solid.
• 22:16
  Yeah.
• 22:16
  Super
• 22:16
  glue
• 22:17
  will
• 22:17
  set
• 22:17
  you
• 22:17
  free.
• 22:17
  Right,
• 22:18
  right.
• 22:21
  So,
• 22:22
  you
• 22:22
  know,
• 22:22
  it
• 22:22
  sounds
• 22:23
  like,
• 22:23
  at
• 22:23
  least
• 22:24
  on
• 22:24
  the
• 22:24
  Yellowstone,
• 22:24
  you
• 22:25
  generally
• 22:25
  like
• 22:25
  to
• 22:26
  fish
• 22:26
  the
• 22:26
  home
• 22:26
  invader
• 22:27
  in
• 22:27
  like
• 22:27
  the
• 22:27
  bottom
• 22:27
  third
• 22:28
  of
• 22:28
  the
• 22:28
  water
• 22:28
  column.
• 22:28
  Is
• 22:28
  that
• 22:29
  about
• 22:29
  right?
• 22:30
  Yeah,
• 22:30
  I
• 22:30
  mean,
• 22:30
  a
• 22:31
  lot
• 22:31
  of
• 22:31
  it
• 22:31
  depends
• 22:31
  on
• 22:32
  just
• 22:32
  the
• 22:32
  time
• 22:32
  of
• 22:32
  year
• 22:33
  and
• 22:33
  you
• 22:33
  know,
• 22:34
  when
• 22:34
  you're
• 22:34
  doing
• 22:34
  it.
• 22:35
  I
• 22:35
  mean,
• 22:35
  personally,
• 22:36
  when
• 22:36
  I
• 22:37
  get
• 22:37
  to
• 22:37
  do
• 22:37
  it
• 22:37
  a
• 22:37
  bunch,
• 22:38
  me
• 22:38
  personally
• 22:39
  is,
• 22:40
  you
• 22:40
  know,
• 22:41
  say
• 22:41
  late
• 22:42
  February
• 22:42
  through
• 22:43
  the
• 22:43
  beginning
• 22:43
  of
• 22:43
  runoff,
• 22:44
  you
• 22:44
  know,
• 22:44
  the
• 22:44
  beginning
• 22:45
  of
• 22:45
  mother's
• 22:45
  day
• 22:45
  cattle.
• 22:46
  So
• 22:47
  me
• 22:47
  personally,
• 22:48
  when
• 22:48
  I
• 22:49
  get
• 22:49
  to
• 22:49
  fish
• 22:49
  and
• 22:50
  get
• 22:50
  to
• 22:50
  do
• 22:50
  it
• 22:50
  with
• 22:51
  a
• 22:51
  sink
• 22:51
  dip
• 22:51
  line,
• 22:52
  you
• 22:52
  know,
• 22:52
  a
• 22:53
  250
• 22:54
  on
• 22:54
  a
• 22:54
  7
• 22:54
  weight
• 22:55
  or
• 22:55
  a
• 22:55
  300
• 22:56
  on
• 22:56
  a,
• 22:56
  on
• 22:56
  an
• 22:56
  8
• 22:57
  and
• 22:58
  you
• 22:58
  know,
• 22:58
  whatever
• 22:59
  size
• 22:59
  and
• 22:59
  color
• 23:00
  you
• 23:01
  know,
• 23:01
  you
• 23:02
  want
• 23:02
  to
• 23:02
  fish
• 23:02
  for
• 23:03
  the
• 23:03
  water
• 23:03
  you
• 23:04
  got.
• 23:04
  And
• 23:05
  we
• 23:05
  can
• 23:05
  be
• 23:05
  anywhere
• 23:06
  from,
• 23:07
  you
• 23:07
  know,
• 23:07
  a
• 23:08
  thousand
• 23:08
  cfs
• 23:09
  to
• 23:09
  six
• 23:09
  thousand
• 23:09
  cfs
• 23:10
  at
• 23:10
  that
• 23:11
  time
• 23:11
  of
• 23:11
  year
• 23:11
  and
• 23:13
  muddy
• 23:13
  and
• 23:14
  cold
• 23:15
  and
• 23:15
  6,000
• 23:17
  or
• 23:18
  cold
• 23:18
  and
• 23:19
  you
• 23:19
  know,
• 23:20
  38
• 23:21
  degrees
• 23:21
  and.
• 23:23
  But
• 23:23
  it's
• 23:23
  a
• 23:24
  magical
• 23:24
  time
• 23:24
  of
• 23:25
  year
• 23:25
  to
• 23:25
  fish
• 23:26
  and
• 23:28
  you
• 23:28
  know,
• 23:29
  really
• 23:30
  just
• 23:30
  depends.
• 23:31
  But
• 23:31
  generally
• 23:32
  the
• 23:32
  dirtier
• 23:33
  the
• 23:33
  water,
• 23:33
  the
• 23:34
  brighter
• 23:34
  I
• 23:34
  go,
• 23:35
  the
• 23:35
  clearer
• 23:36
  the
• 23:36
  water,
• 23:37
  which
• 23:37
  is
• 23:37
  generally
• 23:38
  the
• 23:38
  earlier
• 23:39
  part
• 23:39
  of
• 23:39
  that,
• 23:40
  you
• 23:40
  know,
• 23:40
  as
• 23:40
  we're
• 23:41
  coming
• 23:41
  out
• 23:41
  of
• 23:41
  winter,
• 23:42
  you
• 23:42
  know,
• 23:42
  the
• 23:42
  more
• 23:42
  natural
• 23:43
  lamb,
• 23:44
  olives,
• 23:45
  tans,
• 23:47
  blacks
• 23:48
  for
• 23:48
  sure
• 23:49
  in
• 23:49
  the
• 23:49
  wintertime.
• 23:51
  And
• 23:51
  then
• 23:51
  as
• 23:51
  we
• 23:52
  get
• 23:52
  more
• 23:52
  mud
• 23:53
  in
• 23:53
  the
• 23:53
  system,
• 23:53
  which
• 23:54
  is
• 23:54
  not
• 23:54
  a
• 23:55
  bad
• 23:55
  thing,
• 23:55
  mud
• 23:55
  is
• 23:56
  excellent.
• 23:56
  We
• 23:56
  just
• 23:57
  think
• 23:57
  the
• 23:57
  good
• 23:57
  mud,
• 23:58
  you
• 23:58
  know,
• 23:59
  maybe
• 23:59
  we're
• 24:00
  going
• 24:00
  more
• 24:00
  towards
• 24:01
  like
• 24:01
  a
• 24:01
  yellow
• 24:02
  or
• 24:02
  a
• 24:03
  bright
• 24:03
  olive
• 24:04
  or
• 24:04
  a
• 24:04
  brighter
• 24:05
  fly,
• 24:07
  you
• 24:07
  know,
• 24:08
  that
• 24:08
  that
• 24:09
  does
• 24:10
  better
• 24:11
  in
• 24:11
  the
• 24:11
  murky
• 24:12
  water.
• 24:13
  And
• 24:14
  what's
• 24:14
  your
• 24:14
  favorite
• 24:15
  leader
• 24:15
  setup?
• 24:18
  I'm
• 24:19
  usually
• 24:19
  fishing
• 24:20
  a
• 24:20
  sink
• 24:20
  tip
• 24:20
  with
• 24:21
  them.
• 24:21
  Not
• 24:22
  always,
• 24:22
  but
• 24:22
  usually.
• 24:23
  So,
• 24:24
  you
• 24:24
  know,
• 24:24
  24
• 24:25
  foot
• 24:25
  sink
• 24:26
  tip,
• 24:26
  you
• 24:26
  know,
• 24:26
  250,
• 24:27
  300
• 24:29
  butt
• 24:29
  section,
• 24:30
  15
• 24:31
  pound
• 24:31
  maxima
• 24:32
  to
• 24:33
  whatever,
• 24:33
  you
• 24:34
  know,
• 24:34
  fluorocarbon
• 24:35
  tiff
• 24:35
  you
• 24:35
  want
• 24:35
  to
• 24:36
  12
• 24:36
  to
• 24:36
  20
• 24:37
  pound
• 24:37
  test.
• 24:39
  So
• 24:39
  the
• 24:39
  whole,
• 24:39
  you
• 24:39
  know,
• 24:40
  3,
• 24:40
  4
• 24:40
  to
• 24:41
  15,
• 24:42
  20
• 24:42
  pound
• 24:42
  maxima,
• 24:44
  3
• 24:44
  foot
• 24:45
  of
• 24:45
  whatever
• 24:46
  tippet
• 24:46
  you
• 24:46
  want
• 24:46
  to,
• 24:47
  you
• 24:47
  know,
• 24:47
  tied
• 24:47
  with
• 24:48
  loop
• 24:48
  knot.
• 24:49
  Pretty
• 24:49
  easy.
• 24:50
  Yeah,
• 24:50
  got
• 24:50
  it.
• 24:51
  And
• 24:51
  so,
• 24:51
  you
• 24:51
  know,
• 24:51
  we
• 24:52
  talked
• 24:52
  about
• 24:52
  you
• 24:52
  can
• 24:52
  fish
• 24:53
  the
• 24:53
  home
• 24:53
  invader
• 24:53
  fast,
• 24:54
  but
• 24:54
  it
• 24:54
  excels
• 24:54
  at
• 24:55
  slow.
• 24:55
  Talk
• 24:56
  a
• 24:56
  little
• 24:56
  bit
• 24:56
  about
• 24:56
  how
• 24:56
  you
• 24:57
  like
• 24:57
  to
• 24:57
  animate
• 24:57
  the
• 24:57
  fly
• 24:58
  when
• 24:58
  you
• 24:58
  fish
• 24:58
  your
• 24:58
  home
• 24:58
  waters.
• 25:00
  Well,
• 25:01
  I
• 25:01
  would
• 25:02
  say
• 25:02
  what
• 25:02
  I
• 25:03
  tell
• 25:03
  people
• 25:03
  when
• 25:03
  they
• 25:04
  climb
• 25:04
  in
• 25:04
  my
• 25:04
  boat
• 25:04
  the
• 25:05
  few
• 25:05
  times
• 25:05
  that
• 25:05
  I
• 25:05
  get,
• 25:06
  you
• 25:06
  know,
• 25:06
  good
• 25:06
  streamer
• 25:07
  fishermen
• 25:07
  in
• 25:07
  my
• 25:08
  boat,
• 25:08
  I
• 25:08
  would
• 25:08
  say
• 25:09
  the
• 25:09
  faster
• 25:09
  the
• 25:09
  water,
• 25:10
  the
• 25:11
  slower
• 25:11
  you
• 25:11
  want
• 25:11
  to
• 25:11
  move
• 25:11
  the
• 25:12
  fly.
• 25:12
  And
• 25:12
  when
• 25:13
  I
• 25:13
  say
• 25:13
  slow,
• 25:14
  if
• 25:14
  it's
• 25:14
  fast
• 25:15
  enough,
• 25:17
  cast
• 25:17
  it
• 25:18
  out
• 25:18
  there,
• 25:18
  get
• 25:18
  tight
• 25:19
  to
• 25:19
  it
• 25:19
  with
• 25:19
  that
• 25:19
  sink
• 25:20
  tip,
• 25:20
  get
• 25:20
  it
• 25:20
  down,
• 25:20
  you
• 25:21
  know,
• 25:21
  use
• 25:21
  the
• 25:21
  whole
• 25:22
  head
• 25:22
  of
• 25:22
  the
• 25:22
  line
• 25:23
  and
• 25:23
  just
• 25:23
  stay
• 25:24
  tied
• 25:24
  to
• 25:24
  it,
• 25:24
  let
• 25:24
  that
• 25:25
  fly
• 25:25
  swim.
• 25:26
  And
• 25:27
  I
• 25:27
  call
• 25:27
  it
• 25:27
  the
• 25:27
  do
• 25:27
  nothing.
• 25:29
  And
• 25:30
  we
• 25:30
  catch
• 25:31
  a
• 25:31
  lot
• 25:31
  of
• 25:32
  fish
• 25:32
  like
• 25:32
  that.
• 25:33
  If
• 25:33
  you're
• 25:34
  in
• 25:34
  some
• 25:34
  in
• 25:34
  between
• 25:35
  water
• 25:35
  that's
• 25:36
  maybe
• 25:37
  moving
• 25:38
  more
• 25:38
  moderate,
• 25:39
  moderate
• 25:40
  to
• 25:40
  medium
• 25:40
  slow,
• 25:42
  you
• 25:42
  know,
• 25:43
  fish
• 25:43
  those
• 25:44
  fast
• 25:44
  spots,
• 25:45
  you
• 25:45
  know,
• 25:45
  cover
• 25:45
  those
• 25:46
  seams,
• 25:46
  those
• 25:46
  good
• 25:47
  areas,
• 25:49
  and
• 25:49
  then
• 25:50
  it's
• 25:50
  a
• 25:50
  stop
• 25:50
  and
• 25:50
  go,
• 25:51
  you
• 25:51
  know,
• 25:52
  where
• 25:52
  you
• 25:53
  get
• 25:53
  it
• 25:53
  down,
• 25:54
  you
• 25:54
  get
• 25:54
  it
• 25:55
  to
• 25:55
  those
• 25:55
  good
• 25:55
  spots,
• 25:56
  you're
• 25:57
  tight
• 25:57
  to
• 25:57
  it.
• 25:57
  If
• 25:58
  you
• 25:58
  get
• 25:58
  a
• 25:58
  bit
• 25:59
  a
• 25:59
  bite,
• 25:59
  you'll
• 26:00
  feel
• 26:00
  it.
• 26:01
  And
• 26:01
  then,
• 26:02
  you
• 26:02
  know,
• 26:03
  maybe
• 26:03
  as
• 26:04
  you
• 26:04
  get
• 26:04
  a
• 26:04
  Little
• 26:04
  bit
• 26:04
  swing
• 26:05
  on
• 26:05
  the
• 26:05
  line,
• 26:05
  maybe
• 26:06
  the
• 26:06
  boat
• 26:06
  strip
• 26:06
  us
• 26:07
  moving
• 26:07
  a
• 26:07
  little
• 26:07
  bit
• 26:07
  slow.
• 26:08
  If
• 26:08
  you
• 26:08
  got
• 26:08
  a
• 26:08
  good
• 26:08
  rower
• 26:09
  and
• 26:11
  it's
• 26:11
  a
• 26:11
  stop
• 26:11
  and
• 26:12
  go
• 26:12
  at
• 26:12
  that
• 26:12
  point
• 26:12
  where
• 26:13
  you
• 26:13
  strip
• 26:13
  it
• 26:13
  a
• 26:13
  couple
• 26:14
  times,
• 26:14
  maybe
• 26:14
  sink
• 26:15
  it
• 26:15
  down
• 26:15
  a
• 26:15
  little
• 26:15
  bit
• 26:15
  more,
• 26:16
  strip
• 26:16
  back
• 26:17
  a
• 26:17
  couple
• 26:17
  times,
• 26:18
  all
• 26:18
  the
• 26:18
  way
• 26:18
  to
• 26:18
  the
• 26:19
  boat,
• 26:20
  all
• 26:20
  the
• 26:20
  way
• 26:21
  to
• 26:22
  where
• 26:22
  we
• 26:23
  have
• 26:24
  clear
• 26:24
  water
• 26:27
  and
• 26:27
  warmer
• 26:27
  water
• 26:28
  temperatures
• 26:29
  where
• 26:29
  the
• 26:29
  fish
• 26:29
  are
• 26:30
  more
• 26:30
  active
• 26:31
  and
• 26:32
  more
• 26:32
  up
• 26:32
  to
• 26:32
  chase.
• 26:34
  And
• 26:34
  when
• 26:34
  I
• 26:35
  say
• 26:35
  chase,
• 26:36
  sometimes
• 26:37
  the
• 26:37
  chase
• 26:37
  is
• 26:38
  you're
• 26:38
  just
• 26:38
  moving
• 26:38
  it
• 26:39
  too
• 26:39
  fast.
• 26:39
  And
• 26:39
  the
• 26:40
  reason
• 26:40
  they
• 26:40
  didn't
• 26:40
  bite
• 26:40
  it
• 26:41
  is
• 26:41
  because
• 26:41
  you're
• 26:41
  moving
• 26:41
  too
• 26:42
  fast.
• 26:42
  You
• 26:42
  mean
• 26:43
  it
• 26:43
  slower.
• 26:44
  But
• 26:44
  the
• 26:44
  times
• 26:45
  when
• 26:45
  they're,
• 26:47
  you're,
• 26:48
  you're
• 26:48
  moving
• 26:48
  at
• 26:49
  that
• 26:49
  medium
• 26:49
  speed
• 26:50
  and
• 26:50
  you're
• 26:51
  moving
• 26:51
  fish
• 26:51
  but
• 26:52
  you're
• 26:52
  not
• 26:52
  getting
• 26:52
  them
• 26:53
  maybe
• 26:54
  move
• 26:54
  it
• 26:54
  faster,
• 26:55
  maybe
• 26:55
  they
• 26:55
  want
• 26:56
  it
• 26:56
  faster.
• 26:57
  And
• 26:57
  certainly
• 26:57
  the
• 26:57
  warmer
• 26:58
  times
• 26:58
  of
• 26:58
  the
• 26:58
  year
• 26:58
  in
• 26:59
  clear
• 26:59
  water,
• 27:00
  there
• 27:00
  are
• 27:00
  times
• 27:00
  when
• 27:00
  you,
• 27:01
  you
• 27:01
  really
• 27:02
  want
• 27:02
  to
• 27:02
  be
• 27:02
  moving
• 27:02
  it
• 27:03
  pretty
• 27:03
  quick
• 27:04
  to
• 27:05
  show
• 27:05
  it
• 27:05
  it's
• 27:05
  real.
• 27:06
  Because
• 27:06
  if
• 27:06
  it's
• 27:06
  moving
• 27:07
  too
• 27:07
  slow
• 27:07
  and
• 27:08
  they
• 27:08
  have
• 27:08
  that
• 27:09
  much
• 27:09
  time
• 27:09
  to
• 27:10
  react
• 27:11
  to
• 27:11
  it,
• 27:11
  like
• 27:12
  that's
• 27:13
  not
• 27:13
  working.
• 27:14
  So
• 27:14
  it
• 27:15
  really
• 27:15
  just
• 27:15
  depends
• 27:15
  on
• 27:16
  the
• 27:16
  time
• 27:16
  of
• 27:16
  the
• 27:16
  year.
• 27:17
  But
• 27:17
  I
• 27:18
  would
• 27:18
  say,
• 27:18
  you
• 27:19
  know,
• 27:20
  if
• 27:20
  you
• 27:20
  have
• 27:20
  a
• 27:21
  fly
• 27:21
  that
• 27:21
  you
• 27:21
  can
• 27:21
  fish
• 27:22
  slow
• 27:22
  and
• 27:22
  be
• 27:23
  in
• 27:23
  the
• 27:23
  game,
• 27:24
  you're
• 27:24
  covering
• 27:25
  more
• 27:25
  water,
• 27:25
  you're
• 27:26
  taking
• 27:26
  advantage
• 27:27
  of
• 27:27
  situations
• 27:28
  and,
• 27:28
  and
• 27:29
  generally,
• 27:29
  you
• 27:30
  know,
• 27:30
  maybe
• 27:30
  that
• 27:31
  translates
• 27:31
  into
• 27:31
  a
• 27:31
  more
• 27:32
  bite
• 27:32
  or
• 27:32
  two.
• 27:33
  Yeah.
• 27:33
  And
• 27:33
  backing
• 27:34
  up
• 27:34
  to
• 27:34
  your,
• 27:34
  your
• 27:35
  do
• 27:35
  nothing
• 27:35
  retrieve.
• 27:36
  Are
• 27:36
  you
• 27:36
  swinging
• 27:37
  it
• 27:37
  almost
• 27:37
  like
• 27:38
  at
• 27:38
  the
• 27:38
  old
• 27:38
  school
• 27:39
  streamer
• 27:39
  way,
• 27:39
  or
• 27:40
  are
• 27:40
  you
• 27:40
  doing.
• 27:40
  Hell
• 27:40
  yeah.
• 27:41
  Yeah,
• 27:41
  yeah.
• 27:41
  No,
• 27:41
  I
• 27:41
  mean,
• 27:42
  you,
• 27:42
  you,
• 27:42
  you
• 27:43
  could
• 27:43
  take,
• 27:44
  you
• 27:44
  could
• 27:44
  take
• 27:45
  one
• 27:45
  of
• 27:45
  these
• 27:45
  flies.
• 27:46
  I
• 27:46
  mean,
• 27:46
  maybe
• 27:47
  instead
• 27:47
  of
• 27:47
  a
• 27:47
  single
• 27:48
  hook
• 27:48
  version
• 27:48
  where
• 27:49
  it's
• 27:49
  tied
• 27:49
  up
• 27:49
  front
• 27:50
  like
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  closer,
• 27:51
  maybe
• 27:51
  you'd
• 27:51
  want
• 27:51
  it
• 27:52
  in
• 27:52
  the
• 27:52
  back.
• 27:52
  You
• 27:52
  could
• 27:52
  swing
• 27:53
  up
• 27:53
  fish
• 27:54
  with
• 27:54
  this
• 27:54
  fly.
• 27:54
  For
• 27:55
  sure.
• 27:55
  It
• 27:55
  does.
• 27:56
  It
• 27:56
  swims
• 27:57
  on
• 27:57
  its
• 27:57
  own.
• 27:58
  Yeah.
• 27:58
  I
• 27:59
  was
• 27:59
  just
• 27:59
  trying
• 27:59
  to
• 27:59
  figure
• 27:59
  out
• 27:59
  if
• 28:00
  you
• 28:00
  were
• 28:00
  swinging
• 28:00
  or
• 28:00
  if
• 28:00
  you
• 28:00
  were
• 28:01
  maybe
• 28:01
  mending
• 28:01
  it
• 28:01
  to
• 28:01
  get
• 28:02
  it
• 28:02
  to
• 28:02
  kind
• 28:02
  of
• 28:02
  stall
• 28:02
  a
• 28:02
  little
• 28:03
  bit
• 28:03
  and
• 28:03
  actually
• 28:03
  not
• 28:03
  really
• 28:04
  move
• 28:04
  at
• 28:04
  all.
• 28:05
  100.
• 28:07
  Absolutely.
• 28:07
  Every
• 28:08
  time
• 28:08
  out
• 28:08
  of
• 28:08
  the
• 28:08
  drift
• 28:08
  boat,
• 28:09
  I'm,
• 28:09
  I'm
• 28:09
  trying
• 28:10
  to
• 28:10
  do
• 28:10
  that.
• 28:12
  Got
• 28:12
  it.
• 28:13
  And
• 28:13
  you
• 28:13
  know,
• 28:13
  it's
• 28:14
  interesting
• 28:15
  and
• 28:15
  also
• 28:15
  too,
• 28:16
  I
• 28:16
  mean,
• 28:16
  depends
• 28:16
  on
• 28:16
  the
• 28:17
  time
• 28:17
  of
• 28:17
  year.
• 28:17
  And
• 28:18
  there
• 28:18
  are
• 28:18
  times
• 28:18
  when
• 28:18
  I'm
• 28:18
  stripping,
• 28:19
  stripping
• 28:19
  that,
• 28:20
  you
• 28:20
  know,
• 28:20
  super
• 28:20
  hard,
• 28:21
  really
• 28:21
  moving
• 28:22
  it
• 28:22
  and
• 28:22
  moving
• 28:22
  it
• 28:23
  as
• 28:23
  soon
• 28:23
  as
• 28:23
  it
• 28:23
  hits
• 28:23
  the
• 28:24
  water.
• 28:24
  But
• 28:24
  there
• 28:24
  are
• 28:25
  a
• 28:25
  lot
• 28:25
  of
• 28:25
  times
• 28:26
  where
• 28:26
  I'm
• 28:26
  throwing
• 28:27
  it
• 28:27
  out
• 28:27
  there
• 28:27
  in
• 28:28
  a
• 28:28
  good
• 28:28
  spot,
• 28:29
  you
• 28:29
  know,
• 28:29
  using
• 28:30
  that
• 28:30
  sinking
• 28:30
  line
• 28:31
  and
• 28:31
  just
• 28:31
  getting
• 28:31
  down,
• 28:32
  getting
• 28:32
  tight
• 28:32
  and
• 28:33
  letting
• 28:33
  the
• 28:33
  fly
• 28:33
  do
• 28:33
  its
• 28:34
  Thing.
• 28:35
  Yeah.
• 28:35
  Very
• 28:36
  neat
• 28:36
  swing.
• 28:36
  Yeah,
• 28:37
  absolutely.
• 28:37
  You
• 28:37
  know,
• 28:38
  very
• 28:38
  neat.
• 28:38
  And
• 28:38
  it's
• 28:38
  interesting
• 28:39
  too,
• 28:39
  right,
• 28:39
  because,
• 28:40
  you
• 28:40
  know,
• 28:40
  we've
• 28:41
  had
• 28:41
  this
• 28:41
  tremendous
• 28:42
  evolution
• 28:42
  in
• 28:42
  fly
• 28:43
  lines,
• 28:43
  right.
• 28:43
  And
• 28:43
  I
• 28:43
  remember
• 28:44
  having
• 28:44
  this
• 28:44
  conversation
• 28:45
  with
• 28:45
  Russ
• 28:45
  about
• 28:46
  the
• 28:46
  peanut
• 28:46
  where,
• 28:47
  you
• 28:47
  know,
• 28:47
  you
• 28:48
  have
• 28:48
  so
• 28:48
  many
• 28:48
  more
• 28:48
  options
• 28:49
  to
• 28:49
  adjust
• 28:50
  the
• 28:50
  weight
• 28:51
  of
• 28:51
  the
• 28:51
  eyes
• 28:51
  and
• 28:51
  the
• 28:51
  fly
• 28:52
  and
• 28:52
  the
• 28:52
  lead
• 28:52
  wraps
• 28:52
  to
• 28:53
  tandem
• 28:53
  with
• 28:53
  the
• 28:53
  fly
• 28:54
  line.
• 28:55
  And,
• 28:55
  you
• 28:55
  know,
• 28:56
  I
• 28:56
  don't
• 28:56
  know
• 28:56
  if
• 28:56
  you
• 28:56
  tinker
• 28:57
  a
• 28:57
  lot
• 28:57
  with
• 28:57
  that
• 28:57
  or
• 28:58
  you,
• 28:58
  you
• 28:58
  know,
• 28:58
  deal
• 28:58
  with
• 28:59
  people
• 28:59
  that
• 28:59
  do,
• 28:59
  but
• 28:59
  I
• 28:59
  was
• 28:59
  kind
• 29:00
  of
• 29:00
  wondering
• 29:00
  if
• 29:00
  you
• 29:00
  could
• 29:00
  kind
• 29:00
  of
• 29:01
  give
• 29:01
  people
• 29:02
  thoughts
• 29:02
  about
• 29:02
  like,
• 29:03
  you
• 29:03
  know,
• 29:03
  use
• 29:03
  a
• 29:04
  heavier
• 29:04
  line,
• 29:05
  like
• 29:05
  maybe
• 29:05
  like
• 29:06
  a
• 29:06
  triple
• 29:06
  density
• 29:06
  line
• 29:07
  and
• 29:07
  maybe
• 29:07
  take
• 29:07
  some
• 29:07
  of
• 29:07
  the
• 29:07
  weight
• 29:08
  out
• 29:08
  of
• 29:08
  the
• 29:08
  fly
• 29:08
  or
• 29:08
  kind
• 29:09
  of
• 29:09
  things
• 29:09
  that
• 29:10
  they
• 29:10
  could
• 29:10
  play
• 29:10
  around
• 29:10
  with
• 29:11
  to
• 29:11
  get
• 29:11
  kind
• 29:11
  of
• 29:11
  different
• 29:12
  presentations
• 29:13
  for
• 29:14
  sure.
• 29:14
  And
• 29:14
  that's
• 29:15
  definitely
• 29:15
  all
• 29:16
  on
• 29:16
  the
• 29:16
  table.
• 29:17
  And
• 29:17
  in
• 29:17
  preface
• 29:18
  to
• 29:18
  that,
• 29:19
  I
• 29:19
  tie,
• 29:20
  you
• 29:21
  know,
• 29:22
  medium
• 29:23
  sized
• 29:23
  beach
• 29:23
  chain,
• 29:24
  single
• 29:24
  hook
• 29:25
  home
• 29:25
  invaders
• 29:26
  and
• 29:26
  do
• 29:26
  very
• 29:27
  well
• 29:27
  with
• 29:27
  them
• 29:27
  at
• 29:28
  certain
• 29:28
  times.
• 29:28
  Bright
• 29:29
  days,
• 29:32
  non
• 29:33
  bright
• 29:33
  days.
• 29:35
  And
• 29:35
  it's,
• 29:36
  it's,
• 29:37
  you
• 29:38
  know,
• 29:38
  definitely,
• 29:39
  definitely
• 29:39
  super
• 29:40
  important
• 29:40
  to
• 29:40
  have
• 29:41
  kind
• 29:41
  of,
• 29:41
  kind
• 29:42
  of
• 29:42
  everything,
• 29:43
  have
• 29:43
  everything
• 29:43
  from
• 29:44
  light
• 29:44
  to,
• 29:45
  you
• 29:45
  know,
• 29:46
  dredge
• 29:46
  stuff
• 29:47
  in
• 29:47
  your
• 29:47
  box
• 29:47
  and
• 29:48
  everything
• 29:48
  in
• 29:48
  between,
• 29:50
  because
• 29:50
  you
• 29:50
  don't
• 29:50
  know
• 29:51
  what
• 29:51
  it's
• 29:51
  going
• 29:51
  to
• 29:51
  be
• 29:51
  like
• 29:51
  out
• 29:52
  there.
• 29:52
  Yeah.
• 29:52
  And
• 29:52
  I
• 29:52
  think
• 29:53
  the
• 29:53
  interesting
• 29:53
  thing
• 29:53
  too,
• 29:53
  right,
• 29:54
  is
• 29:54
  you
• 29:54
  can
• 29:54
  almost
• 29:54
  get
• 29:54
  to
• 29:55
  a
• 29:55
  place
• 29:55
  where
• 29:55
  like,
• 29:55
  you
• 29:55
  have
• 29:56
  inherent
• 29:56
  jig
• 29:56
  action
• 29:57
  in
• 29:57
  the
• 29:57
  home
• 29:57
  invader,
• 29:57
  but
• 29:58
  you
• 29:58
  can
• 29:58
  also
• 29:58
  kind
• 29:58
  of
• 29:58
  fish
• 29:59
  it
• 29:59
  almost
• 29:59
  a
• 29:59
  little
• 29:59
  bit
• 29:59
  like
• 29:59
  a
• 30:00
  swim
• 30:00
  fly
• 30:00
  if
• 30:00
  you
• 30:00
  wait
• 30:01
  it
• 30:01
  lightly
• 30:01
  enough.
• 30:04
  And
• 30:05
  you
• 30:05
  know,
• 30:06
  that's
• 30:06
  honestly
• 30:08
  where
• 30:08
  that
• 30:08
  fly
• 30:09
  kind
• 30:09
  of
• 30:09
  shines
• 30:09
  is
• 30:10
  like
• 30:10
  when
• 30:11
  you're
• 30:11
  not
• 30:11
  doing
• 30:11
  too
• 30:11
  much
• 30:12
  to
• 30:12
  it,
• 30:12
  when
• 30:12
  you
• 30:12
  have
• 30:13
  just
• 30:13
  enough
• 30:13
  weight
• 30:14
  to
• 30:14
  it
• 30:14
  to
• 30:14
  get
• 30:15
  to
• 30:15
  the
• 30:16
  zone
• 30:16
  where
• 30:16
  you
• 30:17
  want
• 30:17
  to
• 30:18
  and
• 30:18
  you
• 30:18
  swim
• 30:19
  it.
• 30:19
  You
• 30:20
  know
• 30:20
  that
• 30:20
  that's
• 30:21
  where
• 30:21
  that
• 30:21
  fly
• 30:21
  shines.
• 30:23
  Yeah.
• 30:23
  Because
• 30:24
  I
• 30:24
  would
• 30:24
  assume,
• 30:24
  right,
• 30:24
  you
• 30:25
  give
• 30:25
  it
• 30:25
  slack
• 30:25
  and
• 30:25
  it's
• 30:25
  going
• 30:26
  to
• 30:26
  drop,
• 30:26
  right?
• 30:28
  Yes.
• 30:28
  Yeah.
• 30:28
  So
• 30:29
  you
• 30:29
  don't
• 30:29
  really
• 30:29
  need
• 30:29
  a
• 30:29
  lot
• 30:29
  of
• 30:30
  weight
• 30:30
  per
• 30:30
  se.
• 30:33
  Right.
• 30:33
  And
• 30:34
  dude,
• 30:34
  the
• 30:35
  other
• 30:35
  really
• 30:35
  cool.
• 30:38
  You
• 30:38
  know,
• 30:40
  15
• 30:40
  years
• 30:40
  ago,
• 30:41
  I
• 30:41
  started
• 30:41
  getting
• 30:41
  more
• 30:42
  and
• 30:42
  more
• 30:42
  into
• 30:42
  saltwater
• 30:43
  fishing
• 30:44
  and
• 30:44
  more
• 30:44
  and
• 30:44
  more
• 30:44
  in
• 30:45
  a
• 30:45
  tarpon
• 30:45
  fish.
• 30:45
  And
• 30:46
  that
• 30:46
  is
• 30:47
  certain
• 30:47
  respects.
• 30:48
  There's
• 30:49
  many
• 30:49
  facets
• 30:50
  of
• 30:50
  turpin
• 30:51
  fishing,
• 30:53
  many
• 30:53
  facets
• 30:54
  backcountry
• 30:55
  fishing.
• 30:55
  But
• 30:56
  at
• 30:56
  the
• 30:56
  end
• 30:56
  of
• 30:56
  the
• 30:57
  day,
• 30:58
  they're
• 30:59
  fish
• 30:59
  and
• 30:59
  bait
• 30:59
  fish.
• 31:00
  We're
• 31:01
  fishing
• 31:01
  bait
• 31:01
  fish.
• 31:02
  Right.
• 31:03
  Could
• 31:03
  we
• 31:04
  morph
• 31:06
  the
• 31:06
  home
• 31:06
  invader
• 31:07
  into
• 31:08
  a
• 31:08
  fly
• 31:09
  that
• 31:09
  would
• 31:09
  work
• 31:10
  really
• 31:10
  well
• 31:11
  for
• 31:11
  tarpon?
• 31:12
  And
• 31:12
  we
• 31:13
  did
• 31:13
  it.
• 31:14
  And
• 31:14
  instead
• 31:15
  of,
• 31:15
  you
• 31:16
  know,
• 31:18
  trout
• 31:18
  fishing,
• 31:18
  dealing
• 31:19
  with
• 31:19
  heavy
• 31:19
  current,
• 31:19
  we
• 31:20
  want
• 31:20
  some
• 31:20
  lead
• 31:20
  eyes
• 31:21
  on
• 31:21
  there
• 31:21
  to
• 31:21
  get
• 31:21
  under
• 31:22
  that
• 31:22
  current
• 31:22
  and
• 31:23
  you
• 31:23
  know,
• 31:23
  get
• 31:24
  tight
• 31:25
  where
• 31:25
  with
• 31:25
  a
• 31:26
  lot
• 31:26
  of
• 31:26
  turf
• 31:27
  and
• 31:27
  backcountry
• 31:28
  fishing,
• 31:29
  you
• 31:29
  know,
• 31:30
  it's
• 31:30
  a,
• 31:30
  it's
• 31:30
  a
• 31:31
  light
• 31:31
  fly,
• 31:32
  you
• 31:32
  know,
• 31:33
  you're
• 31:33
  fishing
• 31:33
  a
• 31:33
  heavy
• 31:34
  fluorocarbon
• 31:34
  shock
• 31:35
  tippet
• 31:35
  that'll
• 31:36
  drag
• 31:36
  your
• 31:36
  stuff
• 31:37
  down
• 31:37
  to
• 31:37
  a
• 31:37
  couple
• 31:38
  feet,
• 31:38
  you
• 31:39
  know,
• 31:39
  after
• 31:39
  a
• 31:39
  few
• 31:39
  strips.
• 31:41
  But
• 31:41
  generally
• 31:42
  speaking,
• 31:42
  most
• 31:42
  turpin
• 31:43
  flies,
• 31:43
  most
• 31:43
  backcountry
• 31:44
  flies
• 31:44
  for
• 31:45
  snook,
• 31:45
  whatever,
• 31:47
  they're
• 31:47
  weightless.
• 31:48
  And
• 31:50
  we
• 31:51
  effectively
• 31:52
  turned
• 31:53
  the
• 31:53
  home
• 31:53
  invader
• 31:54
  into
• 31:55
  one
• 31:56
  hell
• 31:56
  of
• 31:56
  a
• 31:56
  turp
• 31:57
  and
• 31:57
  fly.
• 31:58
  Enough
• 31:58
  to
• 31:58
  toot
• 31:59
  my
• 31:59
  own
• 31:59
  horn.
• 31:59
  But
• 32:00
  how
• 32:00
  many,
• 32:01
  you
• 32:01
  know,
• 32:02
  new
• 32:02
  turf
• 32:03
  and
• 32:03
  flies
• 32:03
  out
• 32:03
  there?
• 32:04
  I
• 32:04
  mean,
• 32:04
  the
• 32:04
  last
• 32:05
  real
• 32:05
  great
• 32:05
  one
• 32:05
  was
• 32:06
  like,
• 32:06
  you
• 32:06
  know,
• 32:06
  the,
• 32:07
  the
• 32:07
  tasty
• 32:07
  toad,
• 32:08
  Carrie
• 32:09
  Merriman,
• 32:09
  which
• 32:09
  is
• 32:11
  up
• 32:11
  on
• 32:11
  a
• 32:11
  level.
• 32:12
  I
• 32:12
  mean,
• 32:12
  I
• 32:12
  got
• 32:12
  to
• 32:12
  fish
• 32:13
  that
• 32:13
  thing
• 32:13
  before
• 32:14
  a
• 32:14
  lot
• 32:15
  of
• 32:15
  people
• 32:15
  knew
• 32:15
  about
• 32:15
  it.
• 32:16
  I
• 32:16
  was
• 32:16
  like,
• 32:17
  holy
• 32:17
  moly,
• 32:18
  this
• 32:18
  thing
• 32:19
  works.
• 32:19
  And
• 32:21
  you
• 32:21
  know,
• 32:22
  even,
• 32:23
  even
• 32:23
  with
• 32:23
  the,
• 32:24
  the
• 32:24
  streamer
• 32:25
  fishing
• 32:25
  that
• 32:25
  we
• 32:25
  did,
• 32:27
  trout
• 32:27
  fishing,
• 32:28
  smallmouth
• 32:28
  bass
• 32:29
  fishing,
• 32:30
  it's
• 32:31
  in
• 32:31
  a
• 32:32
  lot
• 32:32
  of
• 32:32
  respects
• 32:32
  the
• 32:33
  same
• 32:33
  thing.
• 32:34
  What
• 32:35
  other
• 32:35
  guys
• 32:35
  are
• 32:35
  doing,
• 32:36
  tarpon,
• 32:38
  you
• 32:38
  know,
• 32:38
  backcountry
• 32:39
  fishing,
• 32:39
  snook
• 32:40
  fishing,
• 32:41
  and
• 32:42
  boy,
• 32:42
  does
• 32:42
  it
• 32:43
  work.
• 32:44
  The
• 32:44
  difference
• 32:45
  is,
• 32:45
  you
• 32:46
  know,
• 32:46
  home
• 32:46
  invaders
• 32:47
  got
• 32:47
  heavy
• 32:47
  lead
• 32:48
  eyes.
• 32:49
  Home
• 32:49
  slice
• 32:51
  weightless
• 32:51
  fly,
• 32:52
  you
• 32:52
  know,
• 32:52
  plastic
• 32:53
  eyes,
• 32:54
  same
• 32:54
  format,
• 32:55
  but
• 32:56
  you
• 32:56
  know,
• 32:56
  home
• 32:57
  invader
• 32:57
  swims
• 32:58
  upside
• 32:58
  down,
• 32:59
  Clouser
• 32:59
  style.
• 33:01
  Home
• 33:01
  slice
• 33:02
  swims
• 33:02
  right
• 33:02
  side
• 33:03
  up
• 33:03
  with
• 33:03
  no
• 33:03
  weight.
• 33:04
  Equally
• 33:05
  effective
• 33:06
  and
• 33:07
  absolutely
• 33:07
  deadly.
• 33:09
  Got
• 33:09
  it.
• 33:10
  And
• 33:10
  so
• 33:10
  really,
• 33:10
  if
• 33:10
  we
• 33:11
  kind
• 33:11
  of
• 33:11
  zero
• 33:11
  in
• 33:11
  the
• 33:12
  fact
• 33:12
  that
• 33:12
  we're
• 33:12
  going
• 33:12
  to
• 33:12
  imitate
• 33:13
  bait
• 33:13
  fish,
• 33:13
  that
• 33:13
  really
• 33:13
  kind
• 33:14
  of
• 33:14
  tells
• 33:14
  tires
• 33:15
  everything
• 33:15
  they
• 33:15
  need
• 33:15
  to
• 33:15
  know
• 33:16
  to
• 33:16
  multi
• 33:16
  purpose
• 33:17
  the
• 33:17
  home
• 33:17
  invader
• 33:18
  for
• 33:18
  whatever
• 33:18
  non
• 33:18
  trout
• 33:19
  species
• 33:19
  you
• 33:19
  want
• 33:20
  to
• 33:20
  chase.
• 33:20
  Right,
• 33:21
  right.
• 33:22
  I've,
• 33:22
  I've
• 33:23
  tied
• 33:23
  them
• 33:24
  for
• 33:24
  peacock
• 33:24
  bass.
• 33:25
  I
• 33:25
  mean,
• 33:25
  if
• 33:25
  it
• 33:26
  eats
• 33:26
  a
• 33:26
  minnow,
• 33:27
  it
• 33:27
  will
• 33:27
  eat
• 33:27
  that
• 33:28
  fly
• 33:29
  neat.
• 33:30
  And
• 33:30
  so,
• 33:30
  you
• 33:30
  know,
• 33:30
  before
• 33:31
  I
• 33:31
  let
• 33:31
  you
• 33:31
  go
• 33:31
  this
• 33:32
  evening,
• 33:32
  you
• 33:32
  know,
• 33:33
  you
• 33:33
  know,
• 33:33
  I
• 33:33
  know,
• 33:33
  you
• 33:34
  know,
• 33:34
  it's
• 33:34
  been
• 33:34
  a
• 33:34
  while
• 33:34
  since
• 33:35
  you
• 33:36
  design
• 33:36
  the,
• 33:36
  the
• 33:36
  home
• 33:37
  and
• 33:37
  the
• 33:37
  home
• 33:37
  invader,
• 33:38
  but.
• 33:38
  30
• 33:39
  years.
• 33:39
  Yeah,
• 33:40
  I
• 33:41
  was
• 33:41
  trying
• 33:41
  to
• 33:41
  be
• 33:41
  nice.
• 33:41
  Right.
• 33:43
  I'm
• 33:44
  not
• 33:44
  that
• 33:44
  old.
• 33:44
  Where.
• 33:45
  Well,
• 33:45
  we're,
• 33:45
  I
• 33:46
  think
• 33:46
  I
• 33:46
  designed
• 33:46
  it.
• 33:47
  When
• 33:47
  I
• 33:47
  was
• 33:47
  2.
• 33:47
  Yeah,
• 33:48
  I,
• 33:48
  I
• 33:49
  think
• 33:49
  we're
• 33:49
  actually
• 33:49
  of
• 33:50
  a
• 33:50
  similar
• 33:50
  vintage.
• 33:50
  And
• 33:51
  I've
• 33:51
  actually
• 33:51
  got
• 33:51
  a
• 33:51
  birthday
• 33:51
  on
• 33:52
  Monday,
• 33:52
  but.
• 33:53
  Happy
• 33:53
  birthday.
• 33:54
  I
• 33:54
  appreciate
• 33:54
  that.
• 33:55
  The.
• 33:55
  But
• 33:56
  I'll.
• 33:56
  I
• 33:56
  know
• 33:56
  you
• 33:56
  guys
• 33:57
  are
• 33:57
  always
• 33:57
  like
• 33:58
  tinkering
• 33:59
  with
• 33:59
  stuff
• 33:59
  and
• 33:59
  playing
• 34:00
  with
• 34:00
  stuff,
• 34:00
  either
• 34:00
  whether
• 34:01
  you're
• 34:01
  trying
• 34:01
  to
• 34:01
  solve
• 34:01
  a
• 34:02
  tying
• 34:02
  problem
• 34:02
  or
• 34:02
  you've
• 34:03
  got
• 34:03
  a
• 34:03
  new
• 34:03
  material,
• 34:04
  big
• 34:04
  time.
• 34:05
  Yeah,
• 34:05
  there's
• 34:05
  a
• 34:05
  new
• 34:06
  fishing
• 34:06
  problem.
• 34:06
  Anything
• 34:07
  like
• 34:07
  that
• 34:07
  you
• 34:07
  want
• 34:07
  to
• 34:08
  share
• 34:08
  with
• 34:08
  our
• 34:08
  listeners?
• 34:09
  Well,
• 34:10
  I'm
• 34:11
  actually
• 34:12
  in
• 34:13
  Puno,
• 34:14
  Mexico
• 34:14
  right
• 34:15
  now
• 34:15
  and
• 34:15
  I'm
• 34:16
  fishing
• 34:16
  for
• 34:16
  permit
• 34:18
  at
• 34:18
  a
• 34:18
  new
• 34:18
  lodge.
• 34:19
  That's
• 34:19
  kickass.
• 34:20
  It's
• 34:20
  called
• 34:20
  Blacksmith.
• 34:22
  And
• 34:26
  so,
• 34:27
  I
• 34:27
  mean
• 34:27
  it's,
• 34:27
  it's
• 34:28
  been
• 34:28
  done
• 34:28
  a
• 34:29
  bunch
• 34:29
  before,
• 34:30
  but
• 34:30
  done
• 34:31
  with
• 34:32
  I
• 34:33
  don't
• 34:33
  think
• 34:33
  this
• 34:33
  kind
• 34:34
  of
• 34:34
  consistency.
• 34:34
  We're
• 34:35
  going
• 34:35
  permit
• 34:36
  fishing
• 34:36
  with
• 34:37
  dry
• 34:37
  flies
• 34:39
  and
• 34:40
  doing
• 34:41
  insanely
• 34:42
  well
• 34:42
  to
• 34:43
  the
• 34:43
  point
• 34:43
  of
• 34:43
  where
• 34:44
  I
• 34:44
  don't
• 34:45
  quite
• 34:45
  know
• 34:45
  what
• 34:45
  to
• 34:45
  do
• 34:46
  when
• 34:46
  it's
• 34:46
  my
• 34:47
  turn
• 34:47
  to
• 34:47
  fish.
• 34:50
  That's
• 34:50
  a,
• 34:50
  that's
• 34:51
  a
• 34:51
  good
• 34:51
  problem
• 34:51
  to
• 34:51
  have.
• 34:52
  You
• 34:52
  want
• 34:52
  to
• 34:52
  elaborate
• 34:52
  a
• 34:53
  little
• 34:53
  bit?
• 34:53
  Yes.
• 34:54
  So
• 34:58
  there's
• 34:58
  a
• 34:58
  lot
• 34:59
  of
• 34:59
  sargassum
• 35:00
  weed
• 35:01
  which
• 35:01
  is
• 35:02
  a
• 35:02
  free
• 35:02
  floating.
• 35:03
  It's
• 35:04
  not
• 35:04
  an
• 35:04
  algae,
• 35:05
  it's
• 35:06
  a
• 35:06
  leaf
• 35:06
  forming
• 35:07
  and
• 35:09
  flower
• 35:09
  forming
• 35:10
  organism.
• 35:11
  That
• 35:13
  open
• 35:13
  ocean
• 35:15
  and
• 35:15
  there
• 35:16
  are
• 35:16
  all
• 35:16
  kinds
• 35:16
  of
• 35:16
  critters
• 35:18
  that
• 35:18
  live
• 35:19
  in
• 35:19
  this
• 35:19
  sargassum
• 35:20
  out
• 35:20
  in
• 35:21
  the
• 35:21
  middle
• 35:21
  of
• 35:21
  the
• 35:21
  open
• 35:22
  ocean,
• 35:23
  nowhere
• 35:23
  near
• 35:23
  a
• 35:23
  permit
• 35:24
  flat.
• 35:26
  Maybe
• 35:26
  a
• 35:26
  marlin
• 35:27
  flood
• 35:29
  out
• 35:29
  in
• 35:30
  3,000ft
• 35:31
  of
• 35:31
  water.
• 35:31
  But
• 35:32
  there's
• 35:32
  so
• 35:32
  much
• 35:33
  of
• 35:33
  it
• 35:33
  out
• 35:33
  there
• 35:34
  that
• 35:34
  during
• 35:34
  the
• 35:35
  summer
• 35:35
  months
• 35:36
  in
• 35:36
  the
• 35:36
  Gulf
• 35:37
  of
• 35:37
  Mexico
• 35:38
  this
• 35:39
  stuff
• 35:39
  piles
• 35:40
  up,
• 35:40
  you
• 35:40
  know,
• 35:41
  catches
• 35:41
  the
• 35:42
  trade
• 35:42
  winds
• 35:42
  and
• 35:42
  heads
• 35:43
  east
• 35:43
  towards
• 35:44
  Belize,
• 35:45
  Mexico,
• 35:46
  Bahamas,
• 35:47
  Nicaragua,
• 35:48
  Honduras,
• 35:50
  Mexico,
• 35:51
  all
• 35:52
  these
• 35:52
  places
• 35:52
  and
• 35:53
  it's
• 35:53
  full
• 35:53
  of
• 35:53
  food.
• 35:54
  There
• 35:55
  are
• 35:55
  indigenous
• 35:57
  shrimp
• 35:57
  and
• 35:57
  crabs
• 35:58
  that
• 35:59
  their
• 35:59
  only
• 35:59
  job
• 35:59
  is
• 36:00
  to
• 36:00
  live
• 36:00
  in
• 36:00
  the
• 36:00
  sargassum.
• 36:01
  And
• 36:01
  they
• 36:02
  look
• 36:02
  just
• 36:02
  like
• 36:02
  it.
• 36:03
  They
• 36:03
  are
• 36:04
  blended
• 36:04
  into
• 36:05
  this.
• 36:06
  And
• 36:06
  when
• 36:06
  these
• 36:07
  giant
• 36:07
  mats
• 36:09
  of
• 36:09
  weeds
• 36:11
  go
• 36:11
  into
• 36:11
  the
• 36:12
  shallow
• 36:12
  water,
• 36:13
  you
• 36:13
  know
• 36:14
  what
• 36:14
  the
• 36:14
  fish
• 36:14
  do?
• 36:16
  They
• 36:16
  start
• 36:16
  looking
• 36:17
  at
• 36:17
  it
• 36:17
  and
• 36:18
  start
• 36:18
  seeing
• 36:18
  food
• 36:19
  in
• 36:19
  it
• 36:20
  and
• 36:20
  start
• 36:20
  keying
• 36:21
  in
• 36:21
  on
• 36:22
  what's
• 36:22
  living
• 36:23
  in
• 36:23
  the
• 36:23
  sargassum.
• 36:24
  And
• 36:24
  it's
• 36:24
  to
• 36:25
  the
• 36:25
  point
• 36:25
  of
• 36:25
  where
• 36:26
  now
• 36:27
  I
• 36:27
  tie
• 36:27
  a
• 36:27
  lot
• 36:27
  of
• 36:28
  permit
• 36:28
  flies
• 36:29
  and
• 36:29
  a
• 36:29
  lot
• 36:29
  of
• 36:29
  saltwater
• 36:30
  flies.
• 36:31
  A
• 36:31
  lot
• 36:31
  of
• 36:32
  what
• 36:32
  I'm
• 36:32
  tying
• 36:33
  for
• 36:33
  a
• 36:34
  permit
• 36:34
  is
• 36:35
  geared
• 36:35
  around
• 36:35
  this
• 36:36
  sargassum.
• 36:37
  And
• 36:37
  you
• 36:38
  know,
• 36:38
  I
• 36:38
  had,
• 36:39
  I
• 36:39
  had
• 36:40
  done
• 36:40
  this
• 36:40
  for
• 36:41
  a
• 36:41
  little
• 36:41
  bit
• 36:42
  and
• 36:44
  heard
• 36:45
  some
• 36:45
  things
• 36:46
  like
• 36:46
  hey,
• 36:47
  wow,
• 36:49
  this
• 36:49
  is
• 36:49
  super
• 36:49
  impressive
• 36:50
  what
• 36:50
  you're
• 36:50
  doing.
• 36:52
  And
• 36:53
  this
• 36:53
  week
• 36:54
  just
• 36:54
  got
• 36:54
  to
• 36:54
  come
• 36:55
  down
• 36:55
  here
• 36:55
  to
• 36:55
  Mexico
• 36:56
  and
• 36:56
  experience
• 36:57
  it
• 36:57
  myself
• 36:58
  and
• 36:59
  it
• 36:59
  will
• 37:00
  quite
• 37:00
  frankly
• 37:00
  melt
• 37:01
  your
• 37:01
  face.
• 37:02
  You
• 37:02
  know,
• 37:03
  I've
• 37:03
  done
• 37:03
  a
• 37:04
  bunch
• 37:04
  of
• 37:04
  permit
• 37:04
  fishing
• 37:05
  with
• 37:05
  sinking
• 37:06
  flies,
• 37:06
  you
• 37:06
  know,
• 37:06
  where
• 37:07
  you're
• 37:07
  down
• 37:07
  and
• 37:07
  tight
• 37:08
  and
• 37:10
  working
• 37:10
  for
• 37:11
  the
• 37:11
  bite
• 37:12
  on
• 37:12
  the
• 37:12
  strip,
• 37:12
  you
• 37:13
  know,
• 37:13
  subsurface.
• 37:14
  And
• 37:17
  today
• 37:17
  we
• 37:18
  did
• 37:18
  nothing
• 37:18
  but
• 37:18
  fish
• 37:19
  a
• 37:19
  floating
• 37:20
  crab
• 37:21
  for
• 37:21
  permit
• 37:22
  and
• 37:24
  head
• 37:24
  fish
• 37:25
  come
• 37:26
  up
• 37:26
  and
• 37:26
  sh.
• 37:27
  It
• 37:27
  And
• 37:27
  I'm
• 37:27
  trying
• 37:28
  to
• 37:28
  wrap
• 37:28
  my
• 37:28
  head
• 37:28
  around
• 37:29
  it
• 37:29
  right
• 37:29
  now
• 37:30
  and
• 37:31
  I'll
• 37:31
  probably
• 37:31
  do
• 37:31
  better
• 37:32
  tomorrow,
• 37:33
  but
• 37:34
  today,
• 37:35
  who
• 37:35
  knows.
• 37:38
  Yeah,
• 37:39
  that's,
• 37:39
  that's
• 37:39
  awesome.
• 37:40
  Any
• 37:40
  kind
• 37:40
  of,
• 37:41
  you
• 37:41
  know,
• 37:41
  new
• 37:42
  materials
• 37:42
  or
• 37:42
  anything
• 37:43
  like
• 37:43
  that,
• 37:44
  you
• 37:45
  know,
• 37:45
  it's.
• 37:45
  It'S
• 37:46
  very
• 37:46
  much,
• 37:46
  much
• 37:47
  out
• 37:47
  there
• 37:47
  on
• 37:47
  the,
• 37:48
  you
• 37:49
  know,
• 37:49
  front,
• 37:49
  front
• 37:50
  part
• 37:50
  of
• 37:50
  the
• 37:50
  web.
• 37:51
  But,
• 37:51
  you
• 37:51
  know,
• 37:52
  6
• 37:52
  millimeter
• 37:53
  fly
• 37:53
  foam
• 37:55
  and
• 37:55
  a
• 37:55
  set
• 37:55
  of
• 37:56
  really
• 37:56
  good
• 37:56
  claws
• 37:57
  and
• 37:57
  legs
• 37:58
  to
• 37:58
  wear
• 37:59
  and
• 37:59
  eyes
• 38:00
  and
• 38:00
  antenna
• 38:01
  where
• 38:01
  that
• 38:02
  permit
• 38:02
  looks
• 38:02
  up.
• 38:03
  And
• 38:03
  I've
• 38:03
  seen
• 38:03
  it,
• 38:05
  I've
• 38:05
  never
• 38:06
  seen
• 38:06
  it
• 38:06
  before,
• 38:06
  but
• 38:07
  I've
• 38:07
  seen
• 38:07
  it
• 38:07
  a
• 38:07
  bunch
• 38:07
  in
• 38:08
  the
• 38:08
  past
• 38:08
  week
• 38:08
  since
• 38:08
  I've
• 38:09
  been
• 38:09
  there,
• 38:09
  where
• 38:10
  these
• 38:10
  fish,
• 38:11
  you
• 38:11
  know,
• 38:11
  just
• 38:11
  a
• 38:12
  permit
• 38:12
  cruising.
• 38:13
  I
• 38:13
  mean,
• 38:14
  10
• 38:14
  years
• 38:14
  ago
• 38:15
  we
• 38:15
  were
• 38:15
  all
• 38:15
  throwing
• 38:16
  merkins
• 38:16
  or
• 38:17
  maybe
• 38:17
  a
• 38:17
  different
• 38:17
  fly,
• 38:20
  same
• 38:20
  fish.
• 38:21
  And
• 38:21
  now
• 38:22
  we're
• 38:22
  throwing
• 38:22
  a
• 38:22
  fly
• 38:23
  that
• 38:23
  runs
• 38:23
  on
• 38:23
  top
• 38:24
  and
• 38:25
  moving
• 38:25
  a
• 38:26
  certain
• 38:26
  way
• 38:26
  and
• 38:26
  they're
• 38:27
  looking
• 38:27
  up
• 38:28
  and
• 38:28
  coming
• 38:28
  up
• 38:28
  and
• 38:28
  biting
• 38:29
  it.
• 38:29
  And
• 38:30
  a
• 38:30
  lot
• 38:31
  of
• 38:31
  times,
• 38:32
  unfortunately
• 38:33
  for
• 38:33
  me,
• 38:35
  in
• 38:35
  a
• 38:35
  shocking
• 38:36
  fashion,
• 38:36
  that
• 38:37
  leaves
• 38:37
  your
• 38:38
  mouth,
• 38:38
  you
• 38:39
  know,
• 38:39
  your,
• 38:39
  your
• 38:40
  bottom
• 38:40
  jaw
• 38:41
  on
• 38:41
  the
• 38:41
  ground
• 38:42
  and
• 38:43
  frozen.
• 38:47
  It's
• 38:47
  a
• 38:47
  good
• 38:47
  problem
• 38:47
  to
• 38:48
  have.
• 38:48
  Is
• 38:48
  there
• 38:48
  anything
• 38:49
  else
• 38:49
  going
• 38:49
  on
• 38:50
  you
• 38:50
  want
• 38:50
  to.
• 38:50
  Yeah,
• 38:51
  is
• 38:51
  there
• 38:51
  anything
• 38:51
  else
• 38:51
  going
• 38:52
  on
• 38:52
  you
• 38:52
  want
• 38:52
  to
• 38:52
  share
• 38:52
  with
• 38:52
  our
• 38:52
  listeners?
• 38:53
  Ah,
• 38:54
  not
• 38:54
  really,
• 38:54
  no.
• 38:55
  No,
• 38:55
  I
• 38:55
  don't
• 38:56
  think
• 38:56
  so.
• 38:56
  Got
• 38:57
  it.
• 38:57
  So
• 38:57
  you'll,
• 38:58
  you'll
• 38:58
  head
• 38:58
  back
• 38:58
  in
• 38:58
  a
• 38:59
  couple
• 38:59
  days
• 38:59
  and
• 38:59
  what
• 39:00
  kind
• 39:00
  of,
• 39:00
  you
• 39:00
  know,
• 39:00
  anchor
• 39:01
  in
• 39:01
  down
• 39:01
  in
• 39:01
  Livingston
• 39:02
  for
• 39:03
  fall
• 39:03
  and
• 39:03
  winter?
• 39:03
  Yes,
• 39:04
  yes.
• 39:04
  Finish,
• 39:05
  finish
• 39:05
  up
• 39:06
  the
• 39:06
  fall
• 39:06
  God
• 39:06
  season
• 39:07
  in
• 39:07
  Livingston.
• 39:08
  We
• 39:08
  don't
• 39:08
  have
• 39:08
  too
• 39:08
  much
• 39:08
  to
• 39:09
  go,
• 39:09
  you
• 39:09
  know,
• 39:09
  certainly
• 39:10
  looking
• 39:10
  forward
• 39:10
  to
• 39:11
  it.
• 39:11
  And
• 39:11
  then
• 39:11
  it's
• 39:11
  bird
• 39:12
  season
• 39:12
  and
• 39:12
  then,
• 39:13
  you
• 39:13
  know,
• 39:13
  it's
• 39:14
  wood
• 39:14
  split
• 39:14
  in
• 39:15
  time
• 39:15
  and,
• 39:16
  you
• 39:16
  know,
• 39:16
  and
• 39:17
  then
• 39:17
  we
• 39:17
  start
• 39:17
  the
• 39:18
  whole
• 39:18
  process
• 39:18
  over
• 39:19
  again,
• 39:20
  you
• 39:20
  know,
• 39:20
  after
• 39:20
  the
• 39:20
  first
• 39:21
  of
• 39:21
  the
• 39:21
  year.
• 39:21
  Yeah.
• 39:22
  So
• 39:22
  you
• 39:22
  enjoy
• 39:22
  actually
• 39:23
  having
• 39:23
  Livingston
• 39:24
  to
• 39:24
  yourself
• 39:24
  for
• 39:24
  a
• 39:24
  few
• 39:24
  months,
• 39:25
  Right.
• 39:25
  With
• 39:25
  no
• 39:25
  tourists.
• 39:27
  Yes.
• 39:28
  100.
• 39:28
  Yeah.
• 39:29
  It
• 39:29
  takes,
• 39:29
  I
• 39:29
  guess,
• 39:29
  what,
• 39:30
  until
• 39:30
  October
• 39:30
  for
• 39:30
  the
• 39:31
  people
• 39:31
  from
• 39:31
  California
• 39:31
  to
• 39:32
  go
• 39:32
  home?
• 39:33
  Yeah,
• 39:34
  I
• 39:34
  mean,
• 39:34
  they're
• 39:35
  kind
• 39:35
  of
• 39:35
  done.
• 39:35
  I
• 39:35
  mean,
• 39:36
  it
• 39:36
  kind
• 39:36
  of
• 39:36
  depends
• 39:36
  on
• 39:36
  what
• 39:37
  happens
• 39:37
  in
• 39:37
  October.
• 39:38
  You
• 39:38
  know,
• 39:39
  I,
• 39:39
  ideally,
• 39:40
  you
• 39:40
  know,
• 39:41
  a
• 39:41
  first
• 39:41
  week
• 39:42
  October,
• 39:43
  you
• 39:43
  know,
• 39:44
  22
• 39:44
  degrees
• 39:45
  and,
• 39:46
  you
• 39:46
  know,
• 39:47
  ice
• 39:47
  and
• 39:48
  maybe
• 39:48
  a
• 39:48
  little
• 39:48
  bit
• 39:49
  of
• 39:49
  snow
• 39:49
  and,
• 39:50
  you
• 39:50
  know,
• 39:51
  but
• 39:51
  hey,
• 39:52
  Howard,
• 39:52
  shakes
• 39:53
  out,
• 39:53
  you
• 39:53
  know,
• 39:53
  however
• 39:53
  the
• 39:54
  weather
• 39:54
  shakes
• 39:54
  out.
• 39:54
  Whenever
• 39:55
  snowbirds
• 39:56
  go
• 39:56
  home,
• 39:56
  it's,
• 39:57
  it's,
• 39:57
  it,
• 39:58
  it's
• 39:58
  gonna
• 39:58
  happen.
• 39:59
  It's
• 39:59
  just
• 39:59
  when.
• 40:00
  Yeah.
• 40:00
  We'll
• 40:00
  just
• 40:01
  hear
• 40:01
  you
• 40:01
  chuckling
• 40:01
  in
• 40:01
  your
• 40:02
  hot
• 40:02
  chocolate.
• 40:05
  Yes,
• 40:05
  sir.
• 40:07
  So
• 40:07
