0:00
[rock music] Good evening, good afternoon, good morning, everybody. Feliz Navidad.
0:16
Prospero año y felicidad. De- de re. [laughs] Say that in English, damn it. [laughs] If you're gonna talk, talk American. [laughs] Happy New Year. Happy New Year. Or Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
0:32
There you go. It's, uh- [laughs]... Full Spectrum Cycling Show 41, the show that we weren't gonna do until next week. Right. Yeah. So you, so you'll get 42, and that's of course the answer to everything pretty much.
0:48
Yeah. Jackie Robinson. Not 42. 21 twice. Uh, Ben Baker from the Bucks. Oh. For the moment. Not Bobby Sutton. It's the, uh- American basketball. American. American.
1:04
American. Sutton. [laughs] So, uh, one of the reasons I wanted us to do the show out tomorrow, this day, today, Friday [laughs] is that, uh, a big event's coming up tonight. Dun, dun, dun. And tomorrow, BattermytheLake.
1:23
And, uh, gonna be a pretty big deal down there. Got a lot of people interested. Weather's gonna be- Throw it in there... above normal. Throw it in, Mitch. You're not going? I'm not going.
1:33
Well, yeah, I mean, I don't know. Yeah. Daughter's got a recital. Oh. Might crash that. Jesus pardon. Ah. Maybe make it in time if I do that. Yeah, sure. He'll be with it a half an hour. And I'm so far behind with work.
1:49
I gotta go to work. Gotta go to work. Well, it's tomorrow night. It's Friday. Tomorrow, yeah. There's a White Castle on the way, so I probably will drive down and drive up. Do their fries only come in one size?
2:00
Uh- No, not anymore, damn it. That was... At one point that was. Now they have a basic hash. Good. Yeah, they gotta have- More, more for everybody... a basic hash. What's a vacation? They have food.
2:12
Do they have bigger hamburgers too? Hell no. [laughs] They compensate with fries. Yeah, right. Fill, fill you up with fries. I'm still waiting for that French onion slider that I had, but now I'm wanting something else.
2:27
It was the best, awesome, simplest thing I've ever had. Haven't seen it since. Mm-hmm. Right on. So that's on the way down there from Milwaukee, if you're traveling from the north. Sort of from the north.
2:38
Toward the north. Uh, east. [laughs] Seems like you know this well. Oh, hell yes I do.
2:44
[laughs] So BattermytheLake is a, is a combination platter of, uh, Fatbike.com and Zion Cyclery hosting an event, uh, at the Illinois Resort and Conference Convention Center, Center, Center. Beautiful, beautiful venue.
2:59
Beautiful venue. And then the- Enormous, enormous pool area. Olympic-sized pool.
3:05
And, uh- And, and they bring all the tropical plants in for the winter, and it's gorgeously, you know, like the oxygen you take in that room is incredible. And I just thought about this.
3:15
Okay, but everybody on Disney+, except me, the Black Hole is on Disney+, and that pool area reminds me of Black Hole with all the kind of geodesic units. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Geodesic.
3:33
Oh, I know. I'm starting to talk- That's all... [laughs] I'm sorry. Who talks- The only one who talks geodesic all the time is fucking Colucci. I was about to say. [laughs] Who is, who is the architect? I know.
3:45
Um- Puck, Puckminster Fuller... Puckminster Fuller. Yes. Was gonna go Falter for a second. Well, that's not right. Well, yeah. It's like the, like the back end of, uh, uh, the Mitchell Earth dome. Right. That's what the
4:00
pool area always reminds me of. So DiNardo and I have built a geodesic dome inside of. Jesus. Ge- ge- geo- Wow... for Inception, which is also on Netflix now. Yeah. Oh, what? Got lots of good stuff coming up. Whoa.
4:16
The changing of the guard. Whoa. And who else has finished season eight of Letterkenny now, which is on television? Not I. I have. Oh, I told you. [laughs] It was like a day and a half.
4:26
We're gonna start on season one again pretty soon. I, uh, I, I bring over friends. I'm like, "Do you know Letterkenny?" And they're like, "No." I'm like, "Sit down. We're gonna watch the first two episodes."
4:33
[laughs] And I al- I always hear that second episode is art perfection. Oh. Yeah. It is a freaking hilarious episode. Or third, third episode. Anyway, they're all good. Don't count on watching the net at BattermytheLake.
4:48
Yeah, I mean- First, you'll be having too much fun. Second, you're not getting a signal- Right... for your, for your internet probably. [laughs] I doubt I can, I doubt I can even call in if I wanted to. Possible.
4:57
We're gonna be, uh, we're gonna be taking some calls, uh, during the live podcast tomorrow night, which is during the party at the Grand Funduro Ballroom, or whatever it's called. Will it be the same room?
5:09
I think it's a different room, but I'm not sure. Oh. That room's underwater. [laughs] Yeah, there was one that was kind of flooded, but now that- Oh, shit. Yeah. It won't be. That actually shouldn't be.
5:17
[laughs] I'm not sure where they're gonna set it up. We'll find out tomorrow. But they've got a lot of different conference rooms. Yeah.
5:22
The, uh, that primary big room, that's where I thought it was gonna be, and then I saw people setting up, and they were not set up. No. Oh, no. [laughs] No, no. Molly walked in there. Oh, no, no, no. She's like, "Oh, no.
5:34
This is not the right room." [laughs] I thought, "That's not that room." They're like, "Yeah." It'll be a little fun. It is a beautiful venue. Hell yeah. It really is.
5:41
So during the live podcast, we're not only gonna have ex-uncle music, but, uh, we're gonna talk to Jay Peterbery, which I think is gonna be really fun. Oh, hell yeah.
5:51
Uh, Amelia from, uh, Huge Ass will be on the show as well. Uh, we're gonna be talking about raffle prizes, and immediately after the show, there will be a very well run raffle. Ha. Are you sure? That's my understanding.
6:06
Is Gomez running it? I hope so.... or he has no reason to bitch. [laughs] No, no books. Um, so, uh, that's Friday night, and that would be from 7:00 PM, the showtime, to probably midnight.
6:21
And then Saturday is their huge ass race, and then right after the race is a couple of demos, certainly, and Specialized, I know for sure, are gonna be there with fat bikes. People can come and check them out.
6:30
You don't have to be a racer. And then Saturday night is the Pugsley Games. And it's all rain for sure. And it's on.
6:40
[laughs] So I think we'll give Spinner a call because he's the guy that, that's coming up with the Pugsley Games. Yeah.
6:47
And I think it makes sense for people to know what they're getting into in case they wanna show up and they haven't already made up their minds. This is for the PWC Axe, folks. This is no big deal.
6:57
But, uh, I'm gonna give Spinner a shouty shout right now. You guys talk amongst yourselves. Dun, dun, dun. The guy like music. Here it comes. And when are you leaving on vacation again, and where are you going?
7:10
Uh, a week from today. Oh. Or, okay, I'm sorry. A week from yesterday. A week from yesterday. All right. Time travel. Exactly. Yeah. And, uh, where is it that you're going? Uh, Lisbon, Portugal
7:25
for a few days, going down to Morocco for a few days. Nice. Uh, then who to? Back to Portugal and can't quite nail down the rest of the place. Like a three-day somewhere. Like, it would be like typical, probably Spain.
7:43
Nice. Nice. All that to say- I don't know. To see the barber of. Yeah, right. [laughs] All I know is that there's like, uh, like four different money exchanges that- [laughs] I'm dealing with.
7:56
It's like on the way there, stopping in Heathrow. Nearly all of them- Well, London, London for, like, a half, half day, so gonna go wander around and go- Hello? And g- Hello. And go to Euro. Who is this? Hi. Hi.
8:08
This is Spinner. Hi, Spinner. We called you, so I already know who it is. Well, I knew that. [laughs] I knew that too. I was just being that guy. [laughs] You're that guy. Theater of the mind. Theater of the mind.
8:21
Well- How's it going tonight? It's going good. How was your New Year's? It was great. We did, uh, the Decorah New Year's Day ride, and it's, uh, probably around 30 miles.
8:30
We ride to a little bar in the middle of nowhere up to Bluffton and, and drink a lot of PBRs and Fireball. [laughs] Yeah, it's a good ride up to Bluffton. I like that one. Yeah, yeah. It's colored. Mm-hmm.
8:43
What, what'd you- Yeah, Pu- uh, Pugsley Worlds went up there once. We had to ride up to Bluffton, check in at the bar, and come back.
8:50
It was one of the, one of those years where we didn't have a lot of snow, and it was kinda in between that freeze thaw, and the route was gravel. There I go. Do you have snow this year, or are you still no snow?
8:59
It was kinda in between. I think we started out with snow and ice, and then it got to be, like, I don't know, was it 45 yesterday or something like that?
9:06
[laughs] It was pretty warm, so we, uh, get that nice sheen of wet gravel, um, you know, greasy- Mm... coating on you. Oh, yeah. Did you have to wear goggles? I did not. Probably should've.
9:24
Well, then you get the nice raccoon look, you know? [laughs] Yeah. Yep. All about the raccoon look.
9:30
So, uh, just before we called you, we were just talking about, uh, the weekend and the live show tomorrow and, uh, the Pugsley Games that are coming up on Saturday.
9:41
I wanted to pick your brain a little bit and kind of get an idea so that if people haven't already made the decision to go down there on Saturday night, that they get their heads out of the sand and show up for- More crystallized...
9:52
for, [laughs] for the opportunity to potentially, possibly take the,
9:57
uh, the axe home with them for a period of time until they decide they're gonna take the, uh, axe and make another event to give it to another person, so. Yeah.
10:08
Tell us what's, uh, h- m- m- we're gonna talk a little bit about the, uh, Pugsley World Championships and the history of it on the show tomorrow.
10:15
But I figured that wasn't really, uh, time sensitive as much as it is to get people to the Pugsley Games, so maybe segue right in from the Pugsley World Champions to the, the Pugsley Games, and why there's kind of a change in how the axe is going to be a- awarded.
10:32
Right. Yeah. Uh, in the past, it was, uh, usually, well, every year that we had it, the race was in Decorah, Iowa, and, um, the, the games always happened after the race, and the rule was...
10:44
It was a loose rule, but, uh, you had to participate in the race in order to win the axe in the games. And, um, since the axe hasn't traveled lately, um, and- And now for something completely different...
10:59
I don't live in Decorah anymore, uh, we're gonna do, we're gonna move the Pugsley Games separate from the Pugsley World Championship race, so it's gonna be, uh, bike games. Think,
11:12
um, derby, uh, maybe some ghost ride competitions, maybe some, uh, bucket ball best shots. Uh-huh. Uh, might be, uh, an interesting format of derby. We're gonna try to make a tournament out of it.
11:25
So, um, coming up with things like that, and probably, uh, the type of event that you would ride your old surly Pugley. You wouldn't ride your new carbon high dollar, $5,000 mountain bike in this.
11:40
You would, uh, want something that, um, can take a beating- A beater... like a Pugley. Yeah. Did, did you say carpet fiber bike? Yeah, man. Gotta, gotta watch your derailleur there, Dave Lunds. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah.
11:54
Yeah, gears probably wouldn't be the best option either, but- Yeah... it's, uh, it's a favorite race bike. A hanger in every bag. [laughs] So yeah, I think we're- But yeah, that's, that's what we're gonna try.
12:06
Sounds good, and the idea is that there's gonna be a, an axe awarded to someone, and that person then will have it and be responsible to carry on the tradition of...
12:16
coming up with an event to award the ax in the future at some point. Yeah, that's a good point. We should make that, um, announcement before we start.
12:25
Be like, "Don't plan to win this thing unless you wanna host, um, the next one." You know, kinda like, um, you know, Single Speeds, if you don't want the tattoo, don't win.
12:34
[laughs] It's gonna be the same kinda idea that- Nice [laughs]... if you don't wanna host, don't win this thing. [laughs] Right.
12:41
So, um, are you thinking that it would happen at the winner's discretion where they would hold the next event? Yeah, I would think so. I'd kinda... I'm open to whatever.
12:53
I'd like to see it, I guess, in the Midwest, but I also like to travel and have an excuse to travel.
12:58
[laughs] Um, that was kinda gonna be the idea, much like Bike Single Speed USA where the winner, you know, we move from state to state.
13:05
Um, you know, but, uh, fat biking and Bugs Lead, it's a little bit different where you need snow, even though we don't have snow up here very much in the last few years.
13:14
Um- You, you ain't gonna find any in Illinois right now either. [laughs] No, no. We got, we got sand. We're gonna find sand though, right? Yeah, we got sand down there for sure. Yeah. There'll definitely be- Yeah...
13:23
some, some area to use. Um, I'm not exactly sure what the racecourse will, um, present as opportunity, so that's something.
13:31
But right by the parking lot by the hotel there's a big, big chunk of beach there, and in front of the hotel and, who knows, maybe through the pool area. I'm not sure. Never know. Yeah, oh yeah. Yeah.
13:41
They have the, the little, uh, places with the, uh, outside bonfire-y things. Yeah, that'd be fun. As long as there's fire. Some good stairs there and stuff too. Ooh. There's gonna... There's gonna be a bonfire?
13:53
I'm pretty sure. I know that this, uh, that, uh, Aaron's gonna be there with Steel Force One, so we know there's gonna be a, a, a burn barrel for sure. Okay.
14:03
Gotta look out for Ranger Rick and- Well, I'm just thinking in my head- Yeah... Ricky might hate that... Ranger Dick might be around and, you know. Kibosh that fire. Yeah. But- Okay. We'll see how it goes...
14:12
just keep an eye on the fire... but whenever there's a bonfire, that represents the opportunity for bonfire jumping. [laughs] Exactly. Yeah, you gotta make- [laughs] Make sure your bonfire barrel rolling.
14:22
Yeah, make sure your big dummy's nowhere in the area. [laughs] Bonfire- I was gonna say, have like Dave burning in your bags... barrel buckets. Oh, bonfire- Oh, great. Yeah... barrel buckets. Okay, it's gestating.
14:32
Oh, yes. [laughs] I did have, uh... I think Dave did buy me a new bag for that when he crashed my big dummy in the fire and just let it burn there. Yeah. [laughs] He got him, he got him from me actually. Yeah.
14:40
He actually got those bags from me. [laughs] Cool. So, uh, are you gonna be there Friday night as well or are you just coming for Saturday? Yeah, I'll be there Friday night. Um, yeah, tomorrow night. I got a room.
14:54
Um- Tonight. No, it's tonight... my roommate is stuck in Vegas. Ah, is it JP? JP's, uh... Yeah. [laughs] What a crock of shit. Yeah. Frontier Airlines is terrible, man. Yeah.
15:05
Yeah, since, since this is a, uh- Oh, I got stuck at Olympic Garden again. [laughs] Yep. Since, since this is a, uh, a mature audience podcast, I'm just gonna say fuck off Frontier.
15:16
[laughs] And way to go, Olympic Garden- Back to the room... to take your, uh, layover fees. That, that is some bullshit. I read his post and I'm like, "You've gotta be kidding me." Yeah.
15:27
I had the same thing flying down to, uh, Austin, Texas this summer a couple times where, um, I actually got stuck in Denver. Um, it was gonna be...
15:34
I left on Thursday, um, to go mark the Single Speed course, and I didn't get there till Sunday and I... Or Saturday night, and then I flew out Sunday afternoon, so I got no time, but that was Frontier Airlines.
15:45
That was my first experience- Oh... and my last experience with them, so. They're not batting 1,000 out of Mil- Mil- Milwaukee or Madison. They used to be great. They used to be fantastic.
15:52
Well, yeah, it, it came out of Midwest. Well, it was even before they bought Midwest. Ish. Ish. I... Full disclosure, I've had a friend that worked there, and I flew from Milwaukee to Cabo round trip for $65. Huh. So.
16:07
Yeah, it, it's cheap if it works. That's the problem. You don't know if you're gonna make it. Yeah, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. It didn't work flawlessly for me, so.
16:13
Right, if you, if you need to stay an extra couple days, then it's not the deal that it was at the- Right, right... onset. It's like, wow, I'm in Akron. [laughs] Yeah. So it's, it's funny that JP...
16:23
I mean, it's not funny, but it's funny that your room- roommate JP is in Vegas, and we're gonna be talking to Jay Petervary, another JP, tonight on the, uh, the live podcast, but it's a different JP. Yeah.
16:36
That's- Oh yeah, he's calling in tomorrow. What time does, uh, the shenanigans start? I guess- Friday... what is the schedule? What time should I be there? Friday.
16:42
Uh, the show's gonna start at 7:00, so probably be there somewhat a little before that. Um, I- Is it on The Barrelhead? I'm meeting Mr. Chris Daisy at- 7:00? 7:00-ish. At the- Yeah, let's be on time-ish. Well, yeah.
16:56
At the hotel? Yeah, it'll be at the hotel in the, the ball- whichever ballroom we've got for the event. Oh, Chris and I- Cool...
17:04
will be there about 4:00 setting stuff up and being ready for it so that when the talent shows up, we're ready to go. Don't even look at me. [laughs] Yeah.
17:13
That's another reason I live on, I live on the wrong side of the state. That's a three-hour drive for me, so I gotta plan this out. Yeah. Maybe 12.
17:19
That's a- And, and I hope you stay Sunday for the tacos because- Oh, that's- Whoa, those tacos are off the hook. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I am looking forward to that, and I'm bringing the tiger pups.
17:29
I got a pet friendly, friendly room. Aw. So my dogs will be there too. Aw, now I feel really bad- They're the tacos... I'm not going. Goddammit. Yeah. [laughs] More and more things are dragging you down there. Ah.
17:40
It's only an hour away. Grab Mariposa. Bring her down. Oh, I'm gonna have her in the car too. All right, I'll try. God bless it, that'd be fun. Okay. [laughs] That would be so fun. Dog- It's only a three-hour tour...
17:51
dog's not on the show... three hours. Well, they're cousins. It's a three-hour tour if you stop at White Castle both ways. He's got mountains, I got black mountains. They're, they're cousins, man.
17:58
They should meet each other. Yeah, the Kerr family. Yep. The Kerr family of fun, huh? Mm-hmm. Dammit. Okay, I'll do my best. Right on, man. Okay. Well, um, we'll- [laughs] We'll see you tomorrow, Spinner.
18:12
Thanks for just priming the pumps a little bit. Actually tonight. No, we'll see you in a few hours. Yeah, or tonight. Yeah, and then you've...
18:18
I've seen that you, you posted the picture of the ax so people know what they're winning. Yep. Right. Yep, it'll be honored after- And does that still help? That's held together pretty well?
18:27
Yeah, it's held together pretty well. I built that in Deke's shop in, like, 20 minutes. I just slapped that thing together, so I'm- [laughs]... I'm impressed- It's still there... that it's still [laughs] in one piece.
18:35
Yeah. It, it, uh, might need- Yeah... a little tightening of screws here and there, but it's really in good shape, so, uh- I didn't drop it... I'll run over it- [laughs] Yeah...
18:42
a few times before I take it out of the car. [laughs] All right, man. It does have some umph. Cool. All right. See you soon. Yeah, looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow. See you in a couple hours. Thank you today.
18:52
Bye. Bye. All right. Bye. So I don't know, maybe we should stop saying today and tomorrow all the time and just- No, it's more fun... let it fly. [laughs] It's more fun. Exactly. Well, no, it keeps my head in the game.
19:04
Right? Well... [laughs] It's like, "Today, tomorrow." Like, "What the hell?" What? Tomorrow, yesterday, now. Yep. That's how I work. That's my, my work is either in the future or the past.
19:15
I'm, like, rarely in the present. [bell rings] Oh, top of the hill. Now you're in the present. Top of the hill. Now you're in the present. Top of the hill. Top of the hill. Now you're in the present.
19:22
So, uh, Tony picked up the beer today. Yeah. We are, uh, Seeking the Good. Seeking the Good. Good- Oh... Good City Spare Time. Let's see. Hazy IPA. It's pretty low in alcohol at 5.4. Yeah. It's good beer.
19:38
It's very easy to drink- Yeah, it's-... that's for sure... good easy drinking beer there... I, uh, I don't know if it's $13 a 12, a six-pack good. I'm wondering- No. Yeah. No. That's- That's pretty pricey...
19:48
that seems like, what if you go to Good City and get it? Is it still 13 bucks? It probably is. Knowing them, it's probably 15, but- Huh... I still love- But then you get the- Guy is a good customer.
19:57
Guy is the, uh, backend manager of Good City. He's a great guy. Comes to the bike shop here every now- Yeah... and again. Yeah.
20:03
He's got some fun old bikes that are really, like, he brings 'em in, it's just like, what in the hell are you riding now? [laughs] I'm like, "That's so cool." For an Aussie. Yeah. You know?
20:15
He's from Adelaide, which is where a good friend of mine is also from, which is pretty cool. Hope they're not suffering through the fires. Oh, they are. Adelaide's getting hit. Everybody is.
20:24
That's, if you saw the post of the koala that was drinking water out of the guy's water bottle- Mm-hmm... on his bike- Yeah... that was Adelaide. I saw the picture- 107-... of the squirrel smelling the flower.
20:33
That wasn't in Australia, though. That was, no, no. [laughs] Yeah, I saw the one- No, 107 degrees... I saw the one of the, uh- Holy mackerel... yeah, and they're having to use-... the gorilla smelling his bum-...
20:42
and falling over... finger. Yeah. Eh, no. So do you think- But no, I saw the graphic of the, of the continent. [laughs] It's, yeah, it's, it's- And it's, like, 75% on fire. Yep. That's insane.
20:55
Tons, tons of animals who've died. Couple of humans. Oh well. Humans. Humans. Humans. They didn't- It's, it's- It's all their fault... yeah. I mean- So-... yeah, Sydney's, like, 111 or something like that.
21:07
It's just, Jesus Christ. I mean, there's hot and then there's 111 hot. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That's, don't even go outside. Don't even think about it. Nope. Not gonna do it. Not gonna happen. Let, let him be prudent.
21:21
Let him be prudent. Yeah. So do you think they call this beer Spare Time 'cause,
21:25
'cause you're, you're changing your spare tire, or you're getting a flat on your bike, or you gotta- I, I think why they're calling it that is- You're kayaking...
21:33
because it drinks so quickly you have enough spare time for another one. Oh, not- Shall I fetch us- You're kayaking... another beer? You're, you're kayaking. You're kayaking. Talk amongst yourselves, you three.
21:40
I'll have another beer. Um, they don't call it, they don't call it Spare Time 'cause you're not gonna have any 'cause you gotta work to pay for this stuff. Yeah, that too. [laughs] Uh, but yeah- Yeah...
21:52
good, good smooth e- easy drinking beer. Hazy IPA from Good City here in Milwaukee. Yeah, and with two locations now, which was surprising. Right. Isn't there a new one by the- 'Cause they took over the-...
22:03
the new Fiserv? Yeah. Yeah. They took over the Crank Daddy space. Yeah, yeah. That was a while back. That was the original and then- Yeah... yeah. And then all of a sudden, ba-da-dum, they got a new super, super place.
22:14
Yeah. That's a biggun'. One of the owners is, like, a pretty famous Milwaukee architect. One of the owners is a famous Milwaukee architect. Whoop. Oh. That's what I said- Excuse me... with his headphones on Spittle.
22:23
Spittle. Spittle from your can. Can, can we talk about s- Is that 'cause your head... Oh, you, oh, no, you're opening it with your right hand. Well, yeah. [laughs] Yeah.
22:30
Can we talk about s- Mike's left wing is, is injured. [laughs] Yeah, Mike took a digger. Not, not, not on the bike, though. Not on the bike. Not on a bike. That's unusual. Well, no. That's actually y- ac- actually usual.
22:41
When all this normally happens, it's being terrestrial walking. That's why I don't walk. It's- That's, I don't, I got a two block rule. If it's more than two blocks, I'm riding a bike. Ugh, what a pain in the ass.
22:54
Al- although I will occasionally walk to Skarda's, which is technically, like, three blocks. Sometimes the Falcon Bowl, I heard last show. Oh, I do have to do that once in a while 'cause I'm with the wife.
23:03
[laughs] She rides a bike. Yeah, but not when it's, as soon as there's any snow. She took a bad digger a couple years ago- Mm-hmm... and she's afraid to wipe out, and I fully, I can understand that.
23:12
I understand completely. But any, did anyone- Kim did the same thing. Uh, took it out and she did, actually, I think, identical, like, rotator cuff kinda nonsense. Was she- I'm self-diagnosing myself, of course.
23:27
Self-diagnosing myself. [laughs] So did anybody, uh, wipe out on our New Year's Day ride this year? Not, I did a little bit- I, I didn't... but real minor.
23:35
Yeah, I, kinda getting off the beach I hit a little ice, but that was a foot down thing, not really a crash thing. Yeah, I, no, I, I, I fell. [laughs] Yeah. Well, no, I saw you guys go out and I'm going like, "Oh, no.
23:46
No, no, no. I know- No, I got-... I, I know what you guys are doing." We just went down the end of the beach and- I know, I know... go out to the breakwater. Hey, hey. I was like, we were out there for about 10 minutes.
23:54
I'm like, "Well, where's Mike?" Yeah, yeah. [laughs] And he's just like, "Uh"- Let me see Mike... it took us a little while to figure out we were missing one of the crew, so- Yeah...
24:01
just remember that if you're on a ride with us and we don't see you. That happened on our last ride with Rusty. I'm like- Yeah, it did... "Where the hell'd Rusty go?" Where'd Rusty go?
24:08
And I, and I stopped, and you guys were like, "Uh, you're the last person." I'm like, "I don't think I am."
24:13
[laughs] And then we rode away and I said, and then we got to the group and I think it was Zito who's like, "Uh, aren't we missing a guy?" I'm like, "The guy that was behind me." Yeah. Yeah.
24:23
Well, I, I kinda think- He's a big boy. He got home on his own. Yeah. I, Nana threw the count off on that one, and you had the count on the first point, and then you picked me up midway, and then So- Yeah...
24:34
plus one mi- Plus one... plus one, minus one or two-ish. Who knows what happened? So I, I have to talk about a bike thing, a bike thing that's really been bothering me now- Hopefully... for the last two weeks.
24:45
It's, is, is it in your craw? It's kind of- Just right there... in my craw. Yeah. Ah. Yeah. So, you know I'm kind of into these things that are electrified, bikes, skateboards, scooters, cars, that kind of- Fences...
24:58
fences. [laughs] Fences when you need to pee. [laughs] And there's been this company that has been bombarding my Facebook with ads, and it's FLX Bike.
25:09
And they had a successful Kickstarter a couple of years ago, and now of course they're back. And they have come up with, and I quote since I post it every time, "The dumbest bike name ever."
25:25
Would you like to guess, JK, what this name might be? Flexor Bike Bike? Both of those are actually probably better than this. [laughs] Oh, I'm sure. I was just trying to be clever. It's in fact called The Baby Maker.
25:41
Oh, shit. Yes, I've seen. The Baby Maker? It's elegant, innovative, and sustainable. What? Fuck you. [laughs] I'm sorry, but just... And it's expensive. You know, it's like, guys, come on. Is it a step-through? No.
25:58
No, actually the first time I posted it was the dumbest name ever. Dave Long- Does it- What do they call the top tube, the ball buster? Yeah, I, I was gonna say, do they have spikes on the top tube?
26:06
[laughs] They must not be, they must not be English-speaking. No, this is a California company. I don't know. They gotta, there's gotta be some... Why would- Oh, no. There's no- Why would you call it The Baby Maker?
26:17
Yeah. 'Cause it's- How does-... sleek and sexy... so it's a penis? They went through the Milli Van- Or of, of, of- Well, I-... um-... I'll show you this picture.
26:24
We should probably put it on the post, but it certainly looks like it has penis handlebars. Oh, yeah. Those are... Somebody that doesn't know how to ride a bike set that thing up. Right. They went- Uh-huh...
26:34
through the Google Translate via Milli Vanilli maybe. Oh, no. We go with The Baby Maker bike, right? Yeah. And you'll go awesome too. I just- [laughs]... I just can't get over how someone would say that, you know?
26:49
Oh, that's what is the thing that is happening now. It's, it's a Chinese company masquerading as a California company, and they probably means a lot different something in Chinese than- Maybe...
26:59
it does in- Than Baby Maker... than 'merican or English. Oh, yeah, yeah, like the Lost In Translation, like, "Oh, yeah, I'm gonna get this, uh- Charcoal grill... well, no, the... [laughs] charcoal grill.
27:10
The, uh, [laughs] getting, uh, "Oh, I'm gonna get the Japanese characters that says, 'Oh, blood,' you know, blah, blah, blah," something, like, really deep, and it ends up being like, "Chicken nuggets are life."
27:23
[laughs] Or- Yeah [laughs] Don't get something tattooed on your arm if you don't know what it means. Exactly. Exactly. The motto here to this story, the, uh- Yeah. Yeah, I know. So yeah, I'm done.
27:35
I'm off my, my high horse about The Baby Maker, but- They're... That's not a baby maker. They're jumping on the website there. Holy cow. That's a baby buster. Mm-hmm. Oh, you- you're on their website?
27:44
I didn't- They have a website. It is not currently on the website. Ah. So- Damn. Yeah... well, keep, uh- Well done then. Oh, nope, here it is. Here it is. Here it is. Ah. Here it is. Ah. Oh, here it is. Here it is.
27:54
Found it? It's actually one word too, Babymaker. Mm. It's not two words. Not hyphenated? Not... No.
28:01
It's right here, a single speed road bike with a reliable and smooth belt drive, very aesthetically pleasing and minimalist design. Just like a baby maker. See?
28:11
Somebody threw the words into a blender and came up with that description. Yeah. And there's a see-through named See Through or Step Through. Step Through. Whatever. The Step Through's called Step Through. Yes.
28:22
So that's, clearly it's not a baby maker 'cause you're stepping through it. Yeah. That's a baby keeper. Reserve my $1,100 discount. Well, I guess we're giving these guys too much airtime, but, uh- Yeah.
28:34
[laughs] It's very intriguing. Yeah. Yeah. I, yeah, I'm done. [laughs] All right. Anyway. But we got a beautiful bike in the stand right now that Greg's working on.
28:47
It's- Same color as the Baby Maker on the website for FLX too. Oh, is it? This is way better than a baby maker. It's orange. Orange. New Tucker orange. Oh, that's, that's, that's good-looking.
28:57
It was nice seeing Jeff's new Trumbo out in the world. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh- [laughs]... got a, got a Wyatt down the road too on, uh, Tuesday. Mm-hmm.
29:08
So people are, people are fat biking here in Wisconsin, folks, even though there's- And, you know- Even if they didn't come over and say, "Hey- I don't know... hang out with the other fat bikes," you know.
29:18
Oh, yeah, that happened. Some of them. Tammy Vanden Heuvel showed up and talked to us about her fat bike. That was cute. Yes. Was nice. Yes.
29:25
There were some fat bikers down there that parked away from the other fat bikes. I thought that- Yeah... was very un-tribe-like. Posers. [laughs] They were all riding Specializes. You notice that? Oh, yes.
29:32
They had fat Bobs. Probably Eric's people. You know? I do have to laugh though that, you know, you, every once in a while you think you're doing this podcast and no one's listening. Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha.
29:41
And Greg brings up on the ride yesterday how much he loved the fact that I talked about my mother-in-law just continually saying scrotum at Christmas. [laughs] So this is all for you, Greg. Scrotum. Scrotum.
29:52
We, uh, we had a comment which came onto the, um, Everyday Cycles website that, I don't know what happened to discus. Do you use that comment? Then whatever. It's discus with a Q. It's another one of those funky things.
30:05
Anyway, I can't really publish- [laughs]... it for some reason, but, um, let me see if I can find it here, 'cause the guy was very, uh... He's talking about the, the article that Trusky wrote on the RSD Sergeant V3.
30:22
I- Oh, yeah... uh, it, his name is, uh, Martini. "I, coming from 35 years of mountain biking, having ridden most everything, and the Sergeant just made my day.
30:31
Running it as a single speed mullet is first noted as heavy compared to my past Ti-" Prestige ultralight and carbon frames, but the funny thing is it's better than those frames for its versatility and bombproofedness.
30:44
Nice. Kind of hard to explain, but I hated the Sergeant upon receiving and building it. So heavy, but felt so good in the berms and downhill and even climbing.
30:52
I have broken three tie seat posts, two steel chain stays, two carbon seat posts, and cracked two Cannondale mountain bike down tubes. Jesus Christ. And I weigh 195 pounds.
31:00
[laughs] After riding the Sarge for a bit, I realized I was getting stronger, but also enjoying the trails better with the newer geometry.
31:07
Gladly, I didn't get the Jamis DS or Ragley Bigwig after riding the Sarge, 'cause I use it to go deep woods backpacking with no fuss. Weight matters, but not as much as you think.
31:18
After 85 bikes owned, this is a keeper next to my Pivot full suspension. Wow. That's pretty cool. Yeah, that's a great- And I wanna put it on the site, but right now our comment system's kind of fakakta. Ah-hey.
31:30
Had somebody else send a, send a shout-out probably to Tony saying, "Hey, thanks for turning me on to Letterkenny." [laughs] Lose a lot of heat out your neck. Yep. So, uh, so people do listen, believe it or not. Yeah.
31:43
Might be the same person, but- Yeah... that's, uh, that's nice. Thanks very much, folks. Yeah. Glad you're, you know- We really appreciate you listening to us...
31:49
we're gonna try and do this one almost every week again for the foreseeable year, future year. Yeah. Yeah. Keep riding your bike every day. Yeah. I've been two for two. [laughs] Oh, yeah. Right, right. Yeah.
31:59
I'm two for two. Yeah. I was one for one. [laughs] Still time yet tonight, buddy. P- piss on that. [laughs] Oh, are you, uh, in the, in the four-wheel steed? Oh, yes. [laughs] Injury timeout, you should have.
32:12
Well, that, no, that wa- that was a, that was absolutely, like, a grudge ride yesterday. I'm like, "Ah, I gotta ride." And I'm like, "Oh my God." I was one-arming. Yeah. I was arm- That's brutal...
32:21
one-arming the whole time. That's brutal. [laughs] I'm like- Good for you for doing it... I'm like, "Fuck it. I gotta do it." Yep. Yep, at least you made the effort there, sir. All right.
32:29
Well, uh, the next time we, uh, talk to you is gonna be from the show floor at the old Fat Tire by the Lakes. You probably hear that before our next Full Spectrum Cycling show, number 42, next week.
32:40
But, uh, till we talk to you again, have a good one there, eh? Peace. Later. [upbeat music] Baby maker.
32:55
[upbeat music]
