- 0:11Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. It was like forever in a day that
- 0:15Speaker 1: we've had a normal show, like at a normal time.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Right in a minute, she goes, she just thought it
- 0:23Speaker 1: was a bunch of jack wagons fighting on field, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: she's like a PAUPERA thought he was on. I was like, yeah,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I was up on the red level and she's like
- 0:32Speaker 1: throwing this out and around the radio. I was like,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I was asking you what happened? Patriots are close, too
- 0:38Speaker 1: close to talking. I was cold, strange looking, he says. Athletically,
- 0:43Speaker 1: I think he's pretty good. Yeah, but I think he
- 0:45Speaker 1: needs to put on some some muscles. That's important. I
- 0:48Speaker 1: think you need to be strong at that position. But
- 0:50Speaker 1: in that conference, like even like fans have stats, right,
- 0:54Speaker 1: everybody scores every preferred to Tom's TV Mac. I like
- 1:01Speaker 1: it TV. I like it content. I went, the phones
- 1:09Speaker 1: are stacked, so let's uh unstack them. This is Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:14Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All Right. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It
- 1:20Speaker 1: is Tuesday at Llette Stadium. Where Paul and I are
- 1:24Speaker 1: holding down the fort with Matt Morrell in the booth
- 1:27Speaker 1: everybody else. It's in Las Vegas. Yeah, we're just in
- 1:31Speaker 1: a regular facility. Yeah, so we'll Yeah, we're not the
- 1:34Speaker 1: taj Mahal, but we will be getting a call in
- 1:37Speaker 1: I probably from Deuce at some point during the show.
- 1:40Speaker 1: They're at practice right now. It's nine in the morning
- 1:43Speaker 1: in Las Vegas and that's when they're practicing. So we'll
- 1:48Speaker 1: get a mid practice report from Deuce. Hopefully we can
- 1:52Speaker 1: get an update as to you know, maybe something that's
- 1:54Speaker 1: interesting going on at the time right now. Um, yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 1: we heard heard from Bill just before our show. Nothing really,
- 2:01Speaker 1: uh hopefully except he's don't worthy. Yeah, he loves that
- 2:06Speaker 1: facility that he's in. I you know, if I'd like
- 2:09Speaker 1: to be able to ask him, and of course I can't.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Is like, you know, how could his facility get to
- 2:16Speaker 1: where he likes it as much as the Raiders? For
- 2:19Speaker 1: you know, those are the kinds of questions, like you know,
- 2:21Speaker 1: the lawyers say, never ask a question that you don't
- 2:23Speaker 1: know the answer to or you don't want the answer to. Well, yeah,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I do, how could that facility be better? Well, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 1: you could be out of it, right. I don't want
- 2:30Speaker 1: to ask, but I thought it was so great having
- 2:32Speaker 1: everything in one place, you know, the stadium and the
- 2:34Speaker 1: fields behind it, and everything's right here. And I know
- 2:38Speaker 1: they're adding like two floors of space for them. Yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: coming up. There are some significant renovations going here, not
- 2:46Speaker 1: just that, you know, for the fans. With the stadium itself,
- 2:49Speaker 1: which you guys are all well aware of, it'd be
- 2:51Speaker 1: nice to add in. You know, we're gonna get there too. Yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. I just felt a little
- 2:56Speaker 1: jil So you're a little you're a little down on
- 2:58Speaker 1: the head. Come kept a little at the little red ass.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, okay, Freddie John McDermott, Freddie not happy
- 3:05Speaker 1: with the with the coach. Well no, I mean just
- 3:07Speaker 1: you know, it's like you got a good place too. Yeah,
- 3:11Speaker 1: you know, well but do we yes, we do. They
- 3:15Speaker 1: have a good place. I think he's gotten pretty much
- 3:18Speaker 1: And this is what I said to you off air.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think he's pretty much gotten anything he's wanted for
- 3:22Speaker 1: the last twenty plus years. Yeah, you know, right down
- 3:24Speaker 1: to the fact that his two sons are on the staff.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Just i'd just like to know, like what's lacking here
- 3:28Speaker 1: and maybe we can fix it. I would agree, yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: you know, I would agree. You know. Anyway, I'm sure
- 3:34Speaker 1: it is, it's beautiful. I'm sure it's new. Um, so
- 3:38Speaker 1: you know, uh, that's great and there this is the
- 3:42Speaker 1: first day of joint practices. Yesterday, I guess it was
- 3:45Speaker 1: a walkthrough pretty much. Yeah, they were in shells. Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: a little bit higher tempo than just a plane walkthrough.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't think it was overly taxing yesterday,
- 3:54Speaker 1: which makes sense. They traveled all day on Sunday and
- 3:56Speaker 1: then you get out there, you want to do a
- 3:58Speaker 1: little knock the rust off, probably do some walk through
- 4:01Speaker 1: type stuff that you're going to do in these two
- 4:02Speaker 1: days of joint practices. A lot of work will get
- 4:05Speaker 1: done today. They took a lot of guys like Hunter,
- 4:08Speaker 1: Henry's there, everybody's everybody's there, And would you take guys
- 4:12Speaker 1: there if they weren't going to participate in nature? Everybody
- 4:14Speaker 1: doesn't mean well Wilkinson's not there, Yeah, Wilkerson's not there.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And there's one other wink when when was in a
- 4:22Speaker 1: red Jersey yesterday? When in Haran and Henry we're all
- 4:25Speaker 1: at practice yesterday. Okay, Um, they were missing a couple
- 4:28Speaker 1: of guys who the names are escaping. I know Ronnie
- 4:31Speaker 1: Perkins was one of them. Yeah, but he but he
- 4:34Speaker 1: didn't go. Yeah, I think I don't know if Perkins
- 4:37Speaker 1: went or not. Okay, So they I mean, they're doing
- 4:42Speaker 1: reasonably well from a health standpoint. Um, it'll be interesting
- 4:46Speaker 1: to see to you a point your question if you
- 4:49Speaker 1: get any of the any work for those guys. Um.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And obviously Thornton wasn't there. Yeah, and that's the you know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: the main one. Since you know, we talked on Friday
- 4:59Speaker 1: night was the last time I think we had a
- 5:00Speaker 1: chance to talk to our listeners. Um, you know, in
- 5:03Speaker 1: the aftermath of the Panthers game. And yeah, we did
- 5:07Speaker 1: get probably the worst case scenario in terms of that
- 5:10Speaker 1: that shoulder injury. Reports reports indicate that he eat has
- 5:14Speaker 1: a fracture callar bone and um could be out up
- 5:17Speaker 1: to eight weeks. I know Mike Jardi was one that
- 5:20Speaker 1: sort of speculating and said, but you know, the person
- 5:23Speaker 1: that he talked to really stressed the fact that players,
- 5:26Speaker 1: all you know, all you know, that kind of an
- 5:28Speaker 1: injury heals differently. It could be so it could be
- 5:31Speaker 1: four or five weeks. It could be you know, ten
- 5:33Speaker 1: or twelve weeks. I mean, I think, really when you're
- 5:36Speaker 1: when you're talking about something like that, it can be.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm very optimi. I'm very optimistic because he's got very
- 5:43Speaker 1: thin bones, so it wouldn't take very long for them
- 5:46Speaker 1: to heal. That's right. Can't argue with that logic. Can't
- 5:49Speaker 1: argue with that logic. Yes, although wouldn't that make him
- 5:52Speaker 1: more susceptible to rebreaking? Yes? Okay, yes, so they're easier
- 5:55Speaker 1: to play with, easier to heal. Yeah, with all the pluses,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you get minuses too, right, But it is unfortunate in
- 6:01Speaker 1: all seriousness, because I thought he was having a pretty
- 6:03Speaker 1: good camp. It looked like he was sort of making
- 6:06Speaker 1: a push to be a relevant part of the offense.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And I have to think he opens the season now
- 6:12Speaker 1: on IR. I mean I would think that that would
- 6:15Speaker 1: be a reasonable expectation. Yeah, And just to clarify for people,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know some of these rules. First of all, these
- 6:21Speaker 1: rules change every year seemingly, so I will probably get
- 6:26Speaker 1: some of this wrong too, But just to reiterate, in
- 6:29Speaker 1: order to open the season on IR, he would have
- 6:31Speaker 1: to be on the roster on the final cutdown day,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know, whichever. I think it's the Tuesday after Labor
- 6:39Speaker 1: Day I think is the you know, so he would
- 6:41Speaker 1: have to be on the fifty three man roster and
- 6:44Speaker 1: then the next day they could revert him to IR.
- 6:46Speaker 1: If he's put on IR now, he's not eligible to
- 6:49Speaker 1: return now. So that's the you know, like a lot
- 6:52Speaker 1: of people are like, oh, well, you know you put
- 6:55Speaker 1: him on IR. That opens up Well, there are some
- 6:57Speaker 1: roster manipulations that need to happen, and little Jordan Humphrey
- 7:01Speaker 1: as an example, you know, might be able to slide
- 7:04Speaker 1: into that spot. Maybe they look at someone else, yep.
- 7:07Speaker 1: On the defensive side. I was listening to one of
- 7:10Speaker 1: your stations this morning, Paul and their flash report said
- 7:14Speaker 1: that with his great summer so far, Jonathan Jones is
- 7:19Speaker 1: pushing to be the number one outside corner. Huh who
- 7:23Speaker 1: who I mean? I don't have any problem with Jonathan Jones. Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I think he's been outside for the last week or
- 7:31Speaker 1: so and he has performed reasonably well. I would not
- 7:34Speaker 1: say he's performed better than Jalen Mills. Yeah. And great
- 7:38Speaker 1: summer yeah, strong strong to quite strong. I don't know
- 7:41Speaker 1: where they get this stuff. I'm not sure you could
- 7:43Speaker 1: use the word great with a lot of what we've seen.
- 7:46Speaker 1: To be honest with you, I think that the defense
- 7:49Speaker 1: has been better than the offense for the most part.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I think Mills has been really good for the most part.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, I don't know about great. Yeah
- 7:58Speaker 1: to you a point. Yeah, but Jonathan Jones has I
- 8:01Speaker 1: think they made the comment during the game Freddie that
- 8:05Speaker 1: this has gone on long enough with him being on
- 8:07Speaker 1: the outside. It's not just like a little right, it's
- 8:09Speaker 1: not an experiment. But you know, overall, again, he gotta
- 8:14Speaker 1: take into consideration the competition both Carolina and the Patriots themselves.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But the cornerback group has been more competitive than I
- 8:22Speaker 1: thought it would be. It's it's looked pretty good now
- 8:26Speaker 1: it may stink it up to High Heaven this week
- 8:29Speaker 1: with the Raiders and on Friday, I thought they were
- 8:31Speaker 1: pretty good. Now they've done pretty well. I thought they
- 8:34Speaker 1: were pretty good in the Carolina week. I thought the
- 8:36Speaker 1: joint practices and I thought that game. I didn't think
- 8:39Speaker 1: they were very good against the Giants in the game.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Now that's you know, that's the preseason game. And most
- 8:46Speaker 1: of the guys that we're going to be talking about
- 8:48Speaker 1: during the course of the season. Really weren't a big
- 8:49Speaker 1: part of that game, right, So take that with a
- 8:51Speaker 1: grain of salt. Like I thought they the Giants had
- 8:53Speaker 1: open receivers for the most part, but most of the
- 8:55Speaker 1: guys covering of them, well you know they won't be here, right,
- 8:58Speaker 1: So I'm not really ny car wash Yeah, Sonnies, Sonnies
- 9:02Speaker 1: get it right? Um, okay, sixteen effort. The other thing
- 9:06Speaker 1: that we were talking about before the show, Paul Mike
- 9:09Speaker 1: Grease had a nugget, Oh yeah about um what's his face?
- 9:14Speaker 1: So we talked about all the guys that were there,
- 9:16Speaker 1: r right, Um, Kendrick Bourne Um didn't play in the game,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and he was there and taking reps Mike Ree, I mean,
- 9:24Speaker 1: Mike do so. Um. I won't say ably filled my shoes,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but he tried. He tried, and I give him an effort.
- 9:31Speaker 1: He tried to do the blog servations and he mentioned
- 9:34Speaker 1: that he got plenty of work with the front line guys.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne Um, so there is you know, he didn't
- 9:42Speaker 1: play on on Friday, and Trent Brown didn't play on Friday.
- 9:45Speaker 1: After the game, I think I read during the postgame
- 9:48Speaker 1: show a tweet from Karen Greegan, who said that according
- 9:51Speaker 1: to a source, it was simply he got the night off,
- 9:55Speaker 1: not and never was related to the week and that
- 9:58Speaker 1: was it. And I saw what I've said to you
- 10:00Speaker 1: that doesn't pass the sniff test, Like why is he
- 10:04Speaker 1: getting the night off? Right? No one else right, you know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: no other veteran got the night off. He's not. And
- 10:10Speaker 1: why did he get the night off and not be there? Right?
- 10:13Speaker 1: More more importantly, why wasn't he in uniform getting the
- 10:16Speaker 1: night off like everybody else? Right? So over the course
- 10:20Speaker 1: of the weekend, there was some various reports that sort
- 10:23Speaker 1: of alluded to the fact that maybe Kendrick Bourne's absence
- 10:26Speaker 1: was disciplined related. Not really much about Trent Brown in
- 10:31Speaker 1: that regard, but I do find it interesting. And you
- 10:33Speaker 1: know who my favorite writer is around here. My favorite
- 10:35Speaker 1: Patriots beat reporter is Mike Reese. And there is no
- 10:39Speaker 1: close second. Right. He doesn't throw stuff around. That's why
- 10:44Speaker 1: I like the way he does his business. He'll he'll
- 10:47Speaker 1: give you some of the you know, of one side,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and he'll give you some of the other side. But
- 10:51Speaker 1: he doesn't he's not he's not into hot takes, right,
- 10:53Speaker 1: He's not telling you. He's not telling you that the
- 10:56Speaker 1: offense is an abject disaster right on day one. Okay.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So Mike has a little notebook that he does after
- 11:04Speaker 1: all the practices, and he did it. He does it
- 11:06Speaker 1: after the game kind of you know, a blatant rip
- 11:10Speaker 1: off yea, as he has said many many times, a
- 11:13Speaker 1: blatant ripoff of me. Yeah, and he's he's actually said
- 11:16Speaker 1: that to me. But that's okay because he and I
- 11:19Speaker 1: are very like Imitation is the sincerest form of flat
- 11:22Speaker 1: and we are very like minded with a lot of
- 11:24Speaker 1: these observations, and we tend to have a lot of
- 11:26Speaker 1: the same stuff in our in our notebooks. But I
- 11:29Speaker 1: thought this was interesting and I didn't have anything like
- 11:31Speaker 1: this in my thought process when we were talking about
- 11:33Speaker 1: this Friday night. And I'm just going to read the
- 11:35Speaker 1: tweet that he had. It was it was one of
- 11:38Speaker 1: the the observations that he had after the game. So
- 11:43Speaker 1: he writes, um, no, Kendrick Bourne and Trent Brown in
- 11:48Speaker 1: the lineup, And when Bill Belichick made reference to them
- 11:51Speaker 1: being available for this week's practice in Las Vegas, the
- 11:54Speaker 1: message couldn't have been any clearer to me. Practice better
- 11:59Speaker 1: and you earn your way onto the field, and he
- 12:03Speaker 1: said Brown's urgency seemed a little inconsistent at times, particularly
- 12:07Speaker 1: in the two minute drill during the jointy practices against
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Panthers. Yea, And Mike doesn't just throw that stuff
- 12:13Speaker 1: out there. Yeah, someone obviously had let Mike know they're
- 12:16Speaker 1: not practicing well, that they didn't practice well. Now we
- 12:19Speaker 1: know that Kendrick Bourne didn't practice well because he's on
- 12:21Speaker 1: the field for the first play. The referee points to
- 12:24Speaker 1: something with his knee. We all assumed it was some
- 12:26Speaker 1: sort of equipment violation. The referee sent him off, Bill
- 12:31Speaker 1: lit him up. Yep. He goes back in eventually, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: then a short time later and again the Panthers. We
- 12:38Speaker 1: we've we've talked about this at length. We felt like
- 12:41Speaker 1: the Panthers were a little chippy in those joint practices, right,
- 12:44Speaker 1: they were thumping, we were tagging, right, and that started
- 12:47Speaker 1: the first fight. However, what extended the first fight was
- 12:51Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne coming out of nowhere with a haymaker over
- 12:54Speaker 1: the top, to which he got ejected for right. Yea.
- 12:57Speaker 1: So he didn't even get to practice much at all
- 13:00Speaker 1: all in the first day of the two joint practices,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and then he's out there mostly with the backups, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: we made a you know, a lot of mention of it.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I don't think you were with us on the show
- 13:10Speaker 1: on the second day. We talked about this at length
- 13:13Speaker 1: during the second show and then lo and behold, he's
- 13:15Speaker 1: not out there for the game on Friday night. So
- 13:19Speaker 1: we kind of saw something there. So Trent Brown, people
- 13:23Speaker 1: were saying just wasn't really overly into it. Um, the
- 13:26Speaker 1: first day of the fights, he kind of like was
- 13:28Speaker 1: standing around, yeah, and then the second day he sort
- 13:31Speaker 1: of got his way over there. Now, Um, I don't
- 13:36Speaker 1: know if this is true, but I trust Mike. There's
- 13:39Speaker 1: a handful of guys that I really trust around here,
- 13:41Speaker 1: you know. Mike, Mike Lesis is one of them. Philip
- 13:43Speaker 1: phil Perry is one of them. Jim McBride is one
- 13:46Speaker 1: of them. I trust. When they tell me things like this,
- 13:49Speaker 1: they're telling me news. I'm not necessarily talking about their
- 13:52Speaker 1: thoughts and opinions on guy's ability, right, Yeah, I'm talking
- 13:56Speaker 1: about when when they sort of allude to there was
- 14:00Speaker 1: some discipline involved. I don't think they're making it up, right,
- 14:04Speaker 1: And Mike is one of the guys I trust. I
- 14:06Speaker 1: found this really interesting attitude. This Trent Brown thing. I
- 14:09Speaker 1: found it really interesting. Yeah, you want to play, you
- 14:11Speaker 1: gotta practice. Like we saw with Kendrick Bourne, we don't
- 14:14Speaker 1: have to sort of extrapolate he's telling you. That was
- 14:16Speaker 1: the same kind of a situation with Trent Brown. The
- 14:19Speaker 1: other thing I heard over the weekend, This is from
- 14:22Speaker 1: Albert Breer reporting that he heard that Whin was the
- 14:27Speaker 1: subject of some trade talks, right, which which you and
- 14:30Speaker 1: I have been on for yea, for the whole lot.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And I was thinking, that's why he hasn't been playing. Yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you actually threw that out there last week. I mean,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I don't think that that was why he wasn't playing,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean we've been talking about the fact
- 14:42Speaker 1: that he's a trade candidate. He makes I think ten
- 14:45Speaker 1: point one. They're still, you know, reasonably tied against the
- 14:49Speaker 1: cap for whatever that's worth. Maybe they feel like they
- 14:52Speaker 1: can save a little money, and you know, for a
- 14:55Speaker 1: player who probably doesn't project to be part of the future. Yea,
- 14:58Speaker 1: And I think that makes that makes sense, except for
- 15:01Speaker 1: I don't like the idea of sort of punting again
- 15:06Speaker 1: on the current team, you know, And I'm not telling
- 15:08Speaker 1: you you trade your right tackle and you're doomed. No,
- 15:11Speaker 1: but I think it's another exact like I think you
- 15:14Speaker 1: traded your guard because of that. So now you have
- 15:18Speaker 1: two offensive linemen that are better than the guys that
- 15:21Speaker 1: are gonna be playing in their place that are gone
- 15:24Speaker 1: largely has a money Yeah, So I don't like that.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I don't like that. Yeah, it's too bad about when
- 15:29Speaker 1: I I know you guys kid kid me, but I
- 15:32Speaker 1: do think he is a good athlete, and I think
- 15:35Speaker 1: he could be a good lineman. But it's you know,
- 15:39Speaker 1: it's the injuries, and you know, availability is part of
- 15:44Speaker 1: being having dependability. Yep, so huge. Yeah, that's too bad.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And I do think that he's better than anyone that
- 15:52Speaker 1: would replace him at right tackle, um right now, right now. Yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I don't like I don't think there's much of an
- 16:00Speaker 1: argument to be made that Justin Harun or Yodni Kaj
- 16:04Speaker 1: is better than Isaiah Winn. You know, Like, I know,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'd like to tease you about your assessment of Isaiah Winn,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but I think he's an NFL caliber player. You know,
- 16:13Speaker 1: he might be middle of the pack, but he's an
- 16:16Speaker 1: NFL caliber's daughter and those other guys haven't proven to be. Yeah,
- 16:20Speaker 1: So I think he's better than his replacement will be,
- 16:22Speaker 1: just like I think Shack Mason's better than Cole Strange
- 16:25Speaker 1: and Michael Win You yeah, whatever one of them you
- 16:27Speaker 1: wanted to say was his replacement. So, you know, offensive
- 16:30Speaker 1: line is something that again even you know we've been
- 16:33Speaker 1: talking about, but even your guy Mike Greece, you know,
- 16:36Speaker 1: said it earlier. You know, he was the one that
- 16:40Speaker 1: you know, tweeted out maybe a call to do you know,
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think he was kidding, but maybe a call to
- 16:45Speaker 1: Dante Scarneckia is in order, because you know, he was
- 16:49Speaker 1: seeing the same thing that we're seeing. That the problems
- 16:52Speaker 1: with the line. Yeah, I think that a lot of
- 16:55Speaker 1: the problems that we saw early in camp have sort
- 16:58Speaker 1: of been rectified. And I'm not just I'm not talking
- 17:00Speaker 1: about just the caliber of play. I mean, I haven't
- 17:02Speaker 1: seen munication. Yeah, I haven't seen like you got him,
- 17:06Speaker 1: I got him? Oh, No, one got him and Mac
- 17:08Speaker 1: just got killed right like the sack that happened on
- 17:11Speaker 1: the third play of the game Um Friday Night in
- 17:14Speaker 1: Max's first series. I mean, James Ferren's got beat and
- 17:16Speaker 1: it happens he just got beat, Um, he lost he
- 17:19Speaker 1: lost his guy, and there was I think a lot
- 17:23Speaker 1: less examples of that in the game, certainly early when
- 17:26Speaker 1: the starters were out there than I've seen earlier in camp.
- 17:29Speaker 1: So that's probably a sign that the communication has improved
- 17:32Speaker 1: a little bit. Um. Going back to Thornton, um, so,
- 17:36Speaker 1: we learned that he's got a fractured collar bone reportedly,
- 17:40Speaker 1: so he's definitely going to be out for the beginning
- 17:42Speaker 1: of the season. Um, you know, at least the first
- 17:45Speaker 1: couple of games, maybe three. Um. So we talked about,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, maybe that's you know, an opportunity for little
- 17:53Speaker 1: Jordan Humphrey, but who else is competing for that? I
- 17:57Speaker 1: think is in that in that thing and you know
- 17:59Speaker 1: idea do a roster roster projection that we put out.
- 18:04Speaker 1: That's why I was trying to into that, you know.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I mean, like I said, Thornton, I think has to
- 18:10Speaker 1: be on the roster at least to start. So that's
- 18:12Speaker 1: what I was trying to do here. And I went
- 18:13Speaker 1: with the you know, the you know, the obvious five Yep,
- 18:18Speaker 1: DeVante Parker, Jacoby Myers, Kendrick Bourne, Nelson, Agalore, Taekwon, Thornton.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I think those five or the guys, but you have
- 18:27Speaker 1: to come down to figure out is it Trey Nixon
- 18:31Speaker 1: is a little Jordan Humphrey right, because Christian Wilkinson is
- 18:35Speaker 1: not really available right now. So you know, we'll have
- 18:38Speaker 1: to see how he h he comes out of that.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But I think it's it's probably Humphrey, fred because I
- 18:44Speaker 1: think he might offer more special team And so don't
- 18:46Speaker 1: be alarmed if close to the beginning of the season
- 18:49Speaker 1: they cut Humphrey. Oh, yeah, with the understanding that once
- 18:52Speaker 1: we get into the season and then we can put
- 18:55Speaker 1: Thornton on I R. You'll come right back on right.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Guess who's on the phone right now. The deuce is
- 19:02Speaker 1: loose in Vegas. What's up, Deuce? What's up? Fellas? So
- 19:07Speaker 1: what what have you been doing so far? Have you
- 19:08Speaker 1: hit any of the establishments? Oh? I thought you were
- 19:12Speaker 1: gonna have to be a football No, no, not yet.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We'll get into football soon enough. Yeah, we went out
- 19:17Speaker 1: a little bit last night. We went out to uh
- 19:19Speaker 1: to the strip and took in the sights a little bit,
- 19:22Speaker 1: had some dinner and uh the Bellaggio. We watched the
- 19:25Speaker 1: Bellagio water So but we've been there, you know. Hey,
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're here on a work trips that we're turning in
- 19:29Speaker 1: as early as possible, trying to, you know, stay on
- 19:31Speaker 1: top of things out here in Vegas. You don't have
- 19:32Speaker 1: to lie to me. Yeah, you don't have to lie
- 19:34Speaker 1: to me. Yeah, that's okay. It's just not the same
- 19:37Speaker 1: here without Paul I, you know, I just I don't
- 19:39Speaker 1: have a drinking buddy right now. That's true. That is true.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So you're at practice right now? Oh yeah, we are.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So it's they're kind of in the walk two stages
- 19:47Speaker 1: right now, and uh man, the setup is tough. We
- 19:50Speaker 1: are like next to the Raiders side. There are three fields.
- 19:53Speaker 1: We are like on ground level, so the Patriots are
- 19:56Speaker 1: like two fields away practice, and we can see a
- 19:58Speaker 1: lot of the Raiders pretty much of the Patriots at
- 20:02Speaker 1: this point at all. So I expect a complete breakdown
- 20:04Speaker 1: of the game plan. Then when we play the Raiders
- 20:07Speaker 1: in December, and you're not allowed to move like it's
- 20:09Speaker 1: a set space and that's it. Oh oh oh, you're
- 20:12Speaker 1: not allowed to even step on the grass like it.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Don't even look at them? What about the look at them?
- 20:16Speaker 1: What about the Raiders media? Are they with you? Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 1: well that's what we're running because we're like, did they know,
- 20:21Speaker 1: did they know what they're missing? I don't know. I
- 20:23Speaker 1: don't know because but but so far everything to the
- 20:25Speaker 1: raiders right up front. So it's you know, it's a
- 20:27Speaker 1: little interesting to get an up close look at Davante
- 20:30Speaker 1: Adams and watching Hunter Renfro right now get blanketed by
- 20:33Speaker 1: Oh that was twenty seven miles prime. So we're starting
- 20:35Speaker 1: some drills here. I didn't realize, um so starting some
- 20:40Speaker 1: one on once here. But it's been but you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: it's it's it's a really nice facility. It's a little tough.
- 20:44Speaker 1: We heard you're trying to taj Mahal. Yeah, I know,
- 20:47Speaker 1: Bill calls, Yeah, the taj Mahal. Are you able to
- 20:50Speaker 1: see any of the insider just the outside. We saw
- 20:53Speaker 1: a little bit of the inside. We peeked in. Um,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, it's all brand new. I mean we're out
- 20:57Speaker 1: at the practice facility at the inter Mountain Health Performance
- 21:00Speaker 1: Center that I'm looking at right now. But you know,
- 21:02Speaker 1: the big black and silver, beautiful building and uh, you
- 21:05Speaker 1: know it's just for the media. You gotta like the
- 21:07Speaker 1: media rooms away from the fields, and you have to
- 21:09Speaker 1: be escorted everywhere. Uh. Kendrick Thourne just fell down on
- 21:12Speaker 1: a route and the past was intercepted on that that
- 21:15Speaker 1: was these are a little one on ones going on
- 21:18Speaker 1: right now. But um, but yeah, it's uh, you know,
- 21:21Speaker 1: it's a it's a nice place. It's just always how
- 21:23Speaker 1: far is it from the stadium from Allegian Stadium, Well
- 21:27Speaker 1: that's downtown in Vegas on the strip, so it's you know,
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's probably a good like twenty thirty minutes. Oh, nice
- 21:32Speaker 1: coverage by Jack Jones, coming right by me, color Jack,
- 21:37Speaker 1: So what are they doing seven on seven now? So
- 21:38Speaker 1: they're doing the stuff near you at least right sounds
- 21:41Speaker 1: like they're right there, he started. Yeah, yes, some individual
- 21:45Speaker 1: individual stuff, um had just kind of started up. At
- 21:47Speaker 1: least they were more enough. The Patriots were far away,
- 21:49Speaker 1: so I mean that's like the uh, the Patriots receivers
- 21:53Speaker 1: and all the defensive and offensive line stuff that's happening
- 21:55Speaker 1: way far away from us right now. But Julian Edelman
- 21:58Speaker 1: was here. Uh you know, obviously a lot of familiar
- 22:00Speaker 1: faces between Brandon Bolden, Yeah, Johnson, I Say, as Zuber,
- 22:05Speaker 1: Jared Stidhams, the list goes on and on. So this
- 22:07Speaker 1: guy is cool to see. Jewels though he kind of
- 22:09Speaker 1: showed up here unannounced and oh and real nice play
- 22:13Speaker 1: right there from Derek Carr to a lot of interaction
- 22:16Speaker 1: with Josh McDaniels with his old players. I didn't see
- 22:21Speaker 1: a lot. I saw him and Bill kind of have
- 22:22Speaker 1: a moment. I saw Bill have a moment with Chandler Jones.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Uh notice I said Chandler, I got that one right then. Yeah. Um,
- 22:30Speaker 1: but yeah, you know, there were definitely some some handshakes
- 22:32Speaker 1: going on, even seeing some of the Patriots players that
- 22:35Speaker 1: played for the Raiders. Um, you know, given ray Kal
- 22:38Speaker 1: McMillin saying a little Max Crosby, So a lot of
- 22:40Speaker 1: connections going on out here. Okay, well listen here, maybe
- 22:44Speaker 1: you know, towards the end of the show, call back
- 22:46Speaker 1: and you know, up to that point, give us your
- 22:49Speaker 1: assessment of today's practice. Yeah sounds good. Definitely, all right,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'll let you get back to reporting. All right, thanks, Mikes.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Mike do so at practice. So we'll hear from him
- 23:01Speaker 1: a little later when he has some more info. Hopefully
- 23:04Speaker 1: they continue to do it. Maybe the Patriots were just
- 23:06Speaker 1: warming up on that farfield and now all the action
- 23:09Speaker 1: has taken place in the fields closer to what I
- 23:11Speaker 1: forgot to ask him if there's fans there. Yesterday they
- 23:14Speaker 1: were not, but that was not a joint practice, So
- 23:18Speaker 1: I don't know if the rules are different. I thought
- 23:20Speaker 1: that whenever there's a joint practice, you have to allow fans. Well,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I know you have to allow the media. Ah, Okay,
- 23:26Speaker 1: I don't know about fans. I don't know the answer
- 23:28Speaker 1: to that question. But I was told during the offseason
- 23:31Speaker 1: this year that if it's a joint practice, it has
- 23:33Speaker 1: to be open to the media. Yeah. What I would
- 23:36Speaker 1: like the league to do and mandate it, especially because
- 23:39Speaker 1: they're gonna go down to two preseason games, there's no doubt,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and up to eighteen regular season games, you know, with
- 23:44Speaker 1: the Peter King theory, what's that televised the joint practice. Yeah,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I think that it should be mandated that you have
- 23:50Speaker 1: to broadcast or do something live stream whatever a joint practice. Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Pete King brought that up yesterday and I was reading
- 23:58Speaker 1: his Football Morning in America there um, and he said,
- 24:03Speaker 1: you know, like that, there is absolutely you know, and
- 24:06Speaker 1: he kept saying, like I understand that it's it's a
- 24:08Speaker 1: little different for coaches, but there's very little to be
- 24:11Speaker 1: gained from watching players thirty through eighty five right play
- 24:16Speaker 1: in these preseason games. Yeah, Um, it's not anything that
- 24:21Speaker 1: you know, the general fan is overly interested in. Now.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I know there's exceptions. I know there's plenty of people
- 24:26Speaker 1: on Twitter that break down this stuff and start telling
- 24:29Speaker 1: me about, you know, the eighth string offensive and defensive
- 24:33Speaker 1: linemen that you know want to rep with a with
- 24:35Speaker 1: a great swim move like like that. That's I understand.
- 24:38Speaker 1: The coaches are very interested in that. I understand that's
- 24:41Speaker 1: their live that their livelihood. Fans don't care. Fans don't
- 24:46Speaker 1: care about breaking down. Uh, you know how the fourth
- 24:50Speaker 1: string center did against the third string nose tackle. They
- 24:53Speaker 1: want to know how Christian Barmore is doing and you
- 24:56Speaker 1: don't get a chance to see them. Um, did you
- 24:58Speaker 1: happen to see last night the Falcon and Jets? You
- 25:01Speaker 1: turn in who was the color guy in that game?
- 25:04Speaker 1: That was Dani Rolovsky and Lewis Riddick is the new Right.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I didn't really see much of it, so I don't know.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Did they have the regular Monday Night crew? I don't know.
- 25:12Speaker 1: But who Brian Greasy is now the quarterbacks coach of
- 25:14Speaker 1: the Niners, so he was replaced boy Rolovski. I don't
- 25:17Speaker 1: know who it was, Um, I don't know if it
- 25:19Speaker 1: was Riddick or Alowski, but whoever was doing the breakdown,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I mean, they were really getting technical. Like if you
- 25:25Speaker 1: were a really casual fan, I don't think you'd understand
- 25:29Speaker 1: what he was talking about. I don't think that does
- 25:31Speaker 1: much good for anybody. But they were really like, you know,
- 25:34Speaker 1: breaking down coverages and why this play worked and that
- 25:38Speaker 1: play didn't. It was impressive, but a little it was
- 25:41Speaker 1: probably over the head of a lot of fans, you know. Yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 1: and I understand, Like I said, I understand there's value
- 25:49Speaker 1: in that for coaches and scouts. You know, they're watching
- 25:52Speaker 1: the coaches and scouts are watching those guys because you're
- 25:56Speaker 1: thirty fifth player might fill a role on your team
- 26:00Speaker 1: better than you will on on that team. Sure, so
- 26:03Speaker 1: you might be able to, you know, you take those
- 26:06Speaker 1: guys that are down the end. You might be looking
- 26:08Speaker 1: for something very specific that you're you know, the team
- 26:12Speaker 1: that the guy's on already has three of those, so
- 26:14Speaker 1: they don't need a third one. But you don't have
- 26:16Speaker 1: any of those, right, you know, I'm talking about you know,
- 26:20Speaker 1: a guy who was really really good at you know,
- 26:23Speaker 1: being the inside block or on the edge on the
- 26:25Speaker 1: punt punt protection team, something very specific that coaches care
- 26:29Speaker 1: about that fans, you know, only care about when you
- 26:32Speaker 1: get three punts blocked, right, you know that that kind
- 26:35Speaker 1: of stuff. So I understand the importance of it from
- 26:37Speaker 1: a football standpoint, but fans aren't overly interested in it,
- 26:40Speaker 1: all right. Eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 26:42Speaker 1: eight ticket hut line. Eight five five Paths five hundred.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. UM.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Looking ahead to this week, Patriots not only will have
- 26:54Speaker 1: a joint practice today, they'll have one tomorrow. Then Thursday
- 26:59Speaker 1: is they'll probably have a walk through in the morning,
- 27:02Speaker 1: but it'll be a light day. Media won't be um,
- 27:05Speaker 1: it won't. It won't be any media availability on Thursday.
- 27:08Speaker 1: And then of course the game is on Friday. So
- 27:10Speaker 1: that's what you have to look forward to here for
- 27:14Speaker 1: the pre and postgame show. Doos will be back, yes tomorrow,
- 27:18Speaker 1: we'll be back, yes, and we'll have a fill in host.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Is that official Christian Arkian? Okay, Christian will be coming
- 27:25Speaker 1: in this week? Yeah, okay, So Hardy's out this week
- 27:28Speaker 1: and Christian Arcand is in and it'll be a little
- 27:31Speaker 1: later this week. Yeah, the show because the game's not
- 27:33Speaker 1: until eight fifteens. Yeah, so if you'll listen at night
- 27:36Speaker 1: or on the weekends. Uh, you know who Christian Arkand
- 27:39Speaker 1: is probably started like five thirty he isn't he He's
- 27:44Speaker 1: the guy with UM Adam Jones at night. Yes, yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 1: so be careful of him. Okay, don't you know, Let's
- 27:52Speaker 1: hope that none of Adam Jones. Boy, I don't try
- 27:55Speaker 1: and choose no more about it, because Adam Jones has
- 27:58Speaker 1: really gone to the dark side. M Jones is absolutely hilarious.
- 28:02Speaker 1: He's like he's like the Emperor in Star Wars. He
- 28:04Speaker 1: is just evil through the core. There's no there's no
- 28:09Speaker 1: rehabilitating him. But let's hope we get Christian R. Camp
- 28:12Speaker 1: before he's he's gone completely over. So so Tykwon Thornton. Yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 1: so I would guess that he will open on UM
- 28:24Speaker 1: on IR and if that's the case, then he would
- 28:27Speaker 1: have to miss a minimum of four games. Yeah, so
- 28:30Speaker 1: just to let I think that was I think it
- 28:32Speaker 1: might have been three games last year. Really they've changed
- 28:35Speaker 1: and made it four. Um, but you can have I
- 28:38Speaker 1: think as many as eight guys go on IR and
- 28:40Speaker 1: come back. UM is there a time limit by two
- 28:44Speaker 1: when like, can you put a guy in IR like
- 28:47Speaker 1: in November and help yea, yeah, yeah, so there's no yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 1: and you can even have the same guy go on
- 28:52Speaker 1: i R twice during the course of the season. Well, okay,
- 28:55Speaker 1: that's probably better. Huh. Yeah. I think that the the
- 28:59Speaker 1: the lightning up of those IR rules was a good development.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I think guys that like pull a hamstring and are
- 29:06Speaker 1: gonna miss three weeks, four weeks, you know, and now
- 29:10Speaker 1: you got to carry that roster spot with he has
- 29:13Speaker 1: no chance to play for three weeks and you have
- 29:16Speaker 1: to waste that roster spot. Doesn't make any sense. Now
- 29:18Speaker 1: you can, you can put him on IR, but you
- 29:20Speaker 1: don't necessarily lose him for the season. He can come
- 29:22Speaker 1: back when he's healthy. I think that's the way it
- 29:24Speaker 1: should work. That's the way it works in other sports.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I think it should work in the sport that injuries
- 29:28Speaker 1: are probably most prevalent. Yeah, And I know why they
- 29:32Speaker 1: don't have it because they don't want coaches taking advantage everywhere.
- 29:35Speaker 1: But I think it makes sense. Yeah, all right, let's
- 29:40Speaker 1: get to some of these emails. See what everyone else
- 29:42Speaker 1: is talking about. Any any other NFL I mean Brady's back.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Reportedly he was out eleven eleven days. He was out
- 29:51Speaker 1: eleven days. Nobody still knows what he was doing. I
- 29:54Speaker 1: don't think it was the Mass singer. No, you don't know.
- 29:57Speaker 1: I don't think that was what it was. Matt, you do, right, Um,
- 30:01Speaker 1: that's not true. Um So, I think though I've said
- 30:04Speaker 1: it before and just so that in case people don't know,
- 30:07Speaker 1: one of my preseason predictions this is his last season. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I mean, I know, as I mocked you at the time,
- 30:13Speaker 1: I think it's reasonable to expect age forty five. It's probably,
- 30:17Speaker 1: you know, one of these years going to be his
- 30:18Speaker 1: last year. I mean, he's thrown out and I wonder
- 30:21Speaker 1: if if he's not even gonna make it, Like I
- 30:23Speaker 1: just wonder if he's having second thoughts. Yeah, how that
- 30:26Speaker 1: would be a bold predict. And his heart's not in it.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not predicting that. I just wondering
- 30:30Speaker 1: if his heart's not in it. I can't believe that
- 30:32Speaker 1: he took eleven days off in the middle of camp.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Odds that he finishes the season for whatever reason. I'm
- 30:37Speaker 1: even including injury odds that he finishes the season. Okay,
- 30:43Speaker 1: all right, I'm just wondering. I just this whole thing
- 30:47Speaker 1: just still seems weird to me from a guy who
- 30:49Speaker 1: was carried himself as being the ultimate, the ultimate team guy,
- 30:54Speaker 1: unless you know, leaves camp during the time that he
- 30:57Speaker 1: was kind of in limbo. He made a commitment and
- 31:00Speaker 1: he's sticking to it anyway, and he told the Bucks before.
- 31:03Speaker 1: By all accounts, he this was worked out well ahead
- 31:06Speaker 1: of time, right, But what commitment could have been such
- 31:09Speaker 1: that he said, Okay, well I'm gonna miss it besides
- 31:14Speaker 1: the Masks singer, some some type of big money commitment. Oh,
- 31:18Speaker 1: he didn't miss eleven days because of something like I
- 31:21Speaker 1: think I think he spent time with his family. Well, okay,
- 31:24Speaker 1: and I just can't imagine he couldn't spend time with
- 31:26Speaker 1: his family before camp. Yeah, I don't know. Like I
- 31:31Speaker 1: don't either. I'm not I'm not mocking you at all. Fred,
- 31:34Speaker 1: you know that's that's my favorite sport. I'm not mocking
- 31:36Speaker 1: Fred is one of my favorites. I'm not doing that
- 31:39Speaker 1: because I have no idea, no clue what he is
- 31:42Speaker 1: doing right now, but what he was doing the last
- 31:45Speaker 1: week and a half. Um, any other NFL news that
- 31:49Speaker 1: we need to cover before we get to the emails
- 31:52Speaker 1: and phone calls. It kind of minors stuff that the
- 31:55Speaker 1: last couple of days that sort of minorly touched the Patriots.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Nick Mullins. Yeah, the quarterback the Raiders got traded to Minnesota. Um, Minnesota, Minnesota.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Uh that opens the door for old friend Jared's did him? Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: being the official back up with the Raiders to Derek Carr. So,
- 32:12Speaker 1: I mean not really a Patriots for they did story,
- 32:15Speaker 1: but kind of well back in the AFC East. What's
- 32:17Speaker 1: the deal with Zach Wilson. What's his status? I think
- 32:20Speaker 1: he's still um, sort of on the edge. They they
- 32:23Speaker 1: insist that they will not play him if he's not
- 32:25Speaker 1: one hundred percent from the opener. So who's there back?
- 32:28Speaker 1: Flacco will play if he if he's not ready to go. Yeah, Flacco,
- 32:31Speaker 1: I guess has played well in practice. I don't you
- 32:33Speaker 1: said you watched the game? Did Flacco play last night?
- 32:36Speaker 1: He wasn't in when I was watching. I watched because
- 32:38Speaker 1: I know they got off to a terrible start. Um
- 32:40Speaker 1: they would they would down early in the game. Now
- 32:42Speaker 1: I came back. I think I tuned in in the
- 32:43Speaker 1: second quarter. Um, I don't know. If he played. I
- 32:47Speaker 1: know Mariota played. I woke up this morning and saw
- 32:49Speaker 1: some highlight team pretty good. Yeah, but he should like
- 32:53Speaker 1: guy's been around the league for a while. You should
- 32:55Speaker 1: light it up in the preseason. Yeah, he had one
- 32:57Speaker 1: throw into the end zone that was really sharp. Okay,
- 33:03Speaker 1: let's let's get to some email, shall we. Pedro writes
- 33:07Speaker 1: in He's from Connecticut, he says, prior to ask you
- 33:10Speaker 1: my question, I'd like to say that the addition of
- 33:12Speaker 1: Tamara Brown was a great add to the media roster.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Thank you. She provides great insight and it is clearly
- 33:17Speaker 1: full of Patriots knowledge. I enjoyed listening to her during
- 33:20Speaker 1: the Patriots pregame show. The members of the past were
- 33:23Speaker 1: all great as well. Maybe Fred should do the next
- 33:26Speaker 1: big board for us in the draft, signed Tamara's mother.
- 33:31Speaker 1: With the rumors surrounded Kendrick Bourne, was there anything worth
- 33:34Speaker 1: mentioning in his first day back at the Las Vegas practice?
- 33:37Speaker 1: If he were to be traded, what does the PU
- 33:40Speaker 1: team think the Patriots will get for him? A player
- 33:42Speaker 1: in a low draft pick, or maybe just a low pick.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I can't see his value being anything higher than a
- 33:48Speaker 1: possible third or fourth round pick. That's you think that's high. Yeah,
- 33:53Speaker 1: I mean I think you could get a comparable player,
- 33:56Speaker 1: you know, someone who's been around the league who's not
- 33:59Speaker 1: needed on his team, well, like or or a late
- 34:02Speaker 1: draft pick. Yeah, what about like a second string tackle. Yeah,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I think that's probably not enough for Kendrick Bourne. Oh, Like,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I think Kendrick Bourne is at least like a third receiver,
- 34:13Speaker 1: which is kind of a starting spot. Yeah, right, everything,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I like. I think he's Do you think late round
- 34:24Speaker 1: pick late, same kind of thing? Yeah, I like, I
- 34:27Speaker 1: wouldn't just give him away. Yeah, Um, I wouldn't trade
- 34:32Speaker 1: win at all. I mean it's gonna pro most people
- 34:34Speaker 1: are gonna hear me say that, and they we're gonna say,
- 34:36Speaker 1: what what a fraud he's you know, he's he wants
- 34:39Speaker 1: it both ways. No, I don't think he's a great player,
- 34:41Speaker 1: but I don't think you have anything better than him
- 34:43Speaker 1: on the roster. And I'm not in I'm not up
- 34:45Speaker 1: for making my team worse in the short term unless
- 34:49Speaker 1: you're gonna you know, someone wants to get stupid and
- 34:52Speaker 1: give you, like a second round pick. Do you think
- 34:53Speaker 1: that's gonna happen? Um? I mean I think the best
- 34:56Speaker 1: you could get is like a fourth or fifth round
- 34:58Speaker 1: pick for him. I don't. I not even sounds high
- 35:00Speaker 1: to me. What if your package both born and win.
- 35:04Speaker 1: What could you get second round pick? Yeah? And again,
- 35:07Speaker 1: but you're not making your team better now, No, let's see,
- 35:12Speaker 1: Tyler says, this is a keep trade or cut game.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Keep trade, cut, Barmore, David Andrews, and Dugger. Who do
- 35:22Speaker 1: you keep? Who do you trade? And who do you cut? Oh?
- 35:25Speaker 1: Let's see. I keep Barmore, trade Dugger and cut Andrews.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I don't like keep trade cut because a lot of
- 35:32Speaker 1: times I don't want to get rid of anybody right
- 35:36Speaker 1: born Henry and Stevenson born Henry Stevenson. I keep trade Henry,
- 35:44Speaker 1: trade cut born. Yeah, two three more Jet Well, Justin Jefferson,
- 35:52Speaker 1: Jamar Chase and Deebo Samuel. I keep Jefferson, UH cut
- 36:01Speaker 1: Samuel and trade Chase. That's a tough one. I keep Samuel,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I cut Chase, and no, I trade Chase and I
- 36:09Speaker 1: cut Jefferson. I think jeff jeff Yeah, I do not
- 36:14Speaker 1: do that. Get your hands off of that board. I
- 36:16Speaker 1: like Jefferson too. I think Jefferson is the best. That's
- 36:21Speaker 1: those three are. That's pretty much the cream debo. I
- 36:24Speaker 1: think he has a really really short shelf life. I
- 36:28Speaker 1: don't think you can be able to play like that
- 36:29Speaker 1: and uh persevere Boston cream donuts, powdered, jelly, filled or
- 36:35Speaker 1: glazed rings. Well, you keep the Boston cream donut, you
- 36:40Speaker 1: trade this honey dip, and you cut. I am so
- 36:44Speaker 1: the opposite. I hate Boston cream donut. Boston, Matt, what's
- 36:50Speaker 1: the first donut to go every week? Cut him? I'll Boston,
- 36:53Speaker 1: I'll trade the rings, and I'll keep the jelly. Uh.
- 36:56Speaker 1: And finally, Andy Hart, Eric Scalavino and Megan O'Brien in Oh.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I think that's kind. Yeah, you keep m ob and
- 37:07Speaker 1: you trade Andy because you get something from you. Cut Eric,
- 37:11Speaker 1: Poor Eric. The good thing is, you know, I'm not listening.
- 37:14Speaker 1: He has no value. You know, there's no way he
- 37:17Speaker 1: would ever know that. I said that, right, You guys
- 37:19Speaker 1: could even send it to him and you could add him,
- 37:23Speaker 1: and he still wouldn't find out because he blocks all
- 37:25Speaker 1: of He blocks everybody. Uh, let's go to the ace
- 37:29Speaker 1: ticket out line eight five five paths five hundred. John
- 37:33Speaker 1: and Duxbury's on the line. What's up, John? Gentlemen, Hawaii
- 37:36Speaker 1: you good, Paul. I want you in ours in the
- 37:39Speaker 1: beautiful Glendale Park area. Ever last week, Wow, Glendale Park
- 37:45Speaker 1: they were they were fixing the street. Dude, I get
- 37:48Speaker 1: up a Cherry Street. Oh god, you you're from de
- 37:51Speaker 1: Luxebury and you got stuck down by Cherry Street Park
- 37:54Speaker 1: and everything Debury. I lived down here now, I'm from
- 37:58Speaker 1: I grew up eight miles away from you. Where about
- 38:02Speaker 1: um some of them? Oh all right yeah Glendale Park? Uh,
- 38:06Speaker 1: you know, gave up a lot of hits in that park.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You know that's a that's actually a pretty nice area
- 38:13Speaker 1: up there. Yeah it is. It's my point. And first
- 38:17Speaker 1: of all, you're right about the Boston Cream donut call.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Those are the best dons. I love them. And Lemon
- 38:22Speaker 1: feel built. I like Lemon feel better. Yeah, you know,
- 38:26Speaker 1: Lemon feel look good. But if they get rid of Win,
- 38:29Speaker 1: that's gonna look make that Mason trade, which was assinine
- 38:33Speaker 1: to begin with, it's gonna make a amplify it ten
- 38:36Speaker 1: times because now you've got three guys that they you know, cameras.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I don't think I think he was a jag, but
- 38:44Speaker 1: and I'm not that crazy about Win, but given away
- 38:46Speaker 1: Mason for a fifth round draft pick that was just
- 38:49Speaker 1: completely stupid. Yeah, I mean I would largely agree, um,
- 38:54Speaker 1: and I think that you're you're weakening your offensive line
- 38:57Speaker 1: in the short term. And it's not like you have
- 39:01Speaker 1: the other side of the argument. You could say, well,
- 39:03Speaker 1: you've got cap relief and you've got a first round pick.
- 39:06Speaker 1: The value was just too great, you know, Like, I
- 39:08Speaker 1: think we can all agree. And I even forgot about that.
- 39:11Speaker 1: John just brought up you got a fifth rounder for
- 39:13Speaker 1: Shack Mason. You're not getting anything better than that for
- 39:15Speaker 1: Isaiah Winn. Yeah, and that, I mean, that's that's the problem, Paul,
- 39:19Speaker 1: you know, I mean, that's crazy. And could you guys,
- 39:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna go out on this on this remark,
- 39:26Speaker 1: but please tell us the schedule again. I missed it there.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I was out in the kitchen. So oh for the
- 39:32Speaker 1: rest of the week this week, Yeah, well, we'll have
- 39:35Speaker 1: the show here, We have the show today. Obviously, there's
- 39:38Speaker 1: a joint practice going on in Las Vegas. We're gonna
- 39:40Speaker 1: have Mike dou So called back in later and give
- 39:42Speaker 1: us an update as to how practice went. Another joint
- 39:46Speaker 1: practice in Vegas tomorrow between the Patriots and Raiders all right,
- 39:49Speaker 1: what time you want tomorrow, Paul, same time. We won't
- 39:51Speaker 1: be on tomorrow, Um, it would be an off day
- 39:54Speaker 1: for the radio show. We will be back on Thursday
- 39:56Speaker 1: with our regular schedule, Yes, regular PU schedule from twelve
- 40:01Speaker 1: to two on Thursday, and then on Friday will be
- 40:04Speaker 1: the game. The game is eight fifteen local time, Eastern time. UM,
- 40:08Speaker 1: so we will do what did what did uh Mike say?
- 40:10Speaker 1: I mean, what did Matt say? Five to seven forty five?
- 40:14Speaker 1: I believe our pregame social will be and then Freddie
- 40:18Speaker 1: will be out there in Vegas doing his blog. Yeah, okay,
- 40:22Speaker 1: all right, that's great. Alright, John, take care, all right, John,
- 40:24Speaker 1: Thanks John. I didn't realize John grew up in my
- 40:28Speaker 1: neck of the I thought we were gonna have a
- 40:30Speaker 1: episode of stock. I stopped it. We could have we
- 40:33Speaker 1: could have gotten main streets and back. Yeah, yeah, I
- 40:35Speaker 1: mean I don't know how we ended up on Cherry Street.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Speaking of um back roads. Driving back to the Cape yesterday,
- 40:45Speaker 1: I mean it was pouring really got to the Otis
- 40:49Speaker 1: Rotary because I had to go to Falmouth. It was
- 40:51Speaker 1: flooded and the water was like up to my door. Wow,
- 40:55Speaker 1: it was like a river. And you have like one
- 40:57Speaker 1: of those electric vehicles. Yeah you're not, and then like
- 40:59Speaker 1: two that you were going to be electrocuted. It's a hybrid.
- 41:02Speaker 1: But two hours later everything was gone. I just need
- 41:06Speaker 1: to correct that. I know that that was not right. Okay,
- 41:09Speaker 1: I was just making a snarky joke. I don't need
- 41:11Speaker 1: to be added. It's okay by the extreme left. But
- 41:14Speaker 1: like two hours later it was all gone. But at home,
- 41:18Speaker 1: the guy diagonally across from me has he created the
- 41:21Speaker 1: second driveway and he put all these wood chips in there.
- 41:24Speaker 1: They were everywhere, so the wood chips, the rain just
- 41:27Speaker 1: took him right out right into my front line. That
- 41:29Speaker 1: is a problem. Yeah, that is a problem. I experience
- 41:32Speaker 1: it once a while. I haven't like some of those
- 41:33Speaker 1: extended drain pipes that I use, and they generally do
- 41:37Speaker 1: the trick. But when you get the really heavy rain
- 41:39Speaker 1: doesn't matter. Forget it. It was it was it was
- 41:42Speaker 1: like end times yesterday for a couple hours between like
- 41:46Speaker 1: two and four. It was unbelievable. Was it was it
- 41:49Speaker 1: raining hard? Here? Well? I was. You were in my office,
- 41:52Speaker 1: so I really don't know. Okay, all right, but I
- 41:55Speaker 1: missed the memo that no one was working yesterday. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: had things to do. I was working, believe me, No,
- 42:02Speaker 1: I just U. I had a couple of things I
- 42:04Speaker 1: wanted to talk to you about, just like random stuff
- 42:06Speaker 1: like this born in Trent Brown thing, and I kept going,
- 42:09Speaker 1: I kept coming here. Off was like, Ah, he's not
- 42:11Speaker 1: coming in. Let's see, Tyler writes in Big Fan of
- 42:16Speaker 1: the Show, long time listener, first time emailer. He doesn't
- 42:20Speaker 1: say where, though. Malcolm Brown was released from the Jags
- 42:23Speaker 1: last week. What do we think of potentially adding him
- 42:26Speaker 1: back to the team. Solid career with the Patriots and
- 42:29Speaker 1: started all seventeen games for the Jags last year. Just
- 42:32Speaker 1: wanted your thoughts on that and the D line situation.
- 42:36Speaker 1: I have no interest in Malcolm. Yeah, I don't think
- 42:38Speaker 1: he was a bust all of a sudden. The D
- 42:39Speaker 1: line looks pretty good. I mean they've played really well. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 1: I mean yeah, I don't know how good it is,
- 42:44Speaker 1: but they've played really well in this Yeah. I can't
- 42:46Speaker 1: argue with that. You know, like, Godcha has been really good.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Bar Moore I think is a blossoming star. I think
- 42:55Speaker 1: Dietrich Wise and Lawrence Guy have been complimentary. I don't
- 43:00Speaker 1: really Carl Davis is a guy who's made a bunch
- 43:02Speaker 1: of plays. I'm not sure I have a spot for him. Yeah,
- 43:04Speaker 1: I think he could make it. Henry Anderson, I think
- 43:07Speaker 1: it is in a lot of trouble. I don't think
- 43:08Speaker 1: they necessarily need more than that. I think it's going
- 43:11Speaker 1: to come down to some of the younger guys who
- 43:14Speaker 1: they decide that they might not be able to squeak
- 43:16Speaker 1: onto the practice squad and who you know, Sam Roberts,
- 43:20Speaker 1: Lebryan Ray to Marcus Mitchell, these guys, you know who's
- 43:24Speaker 1: a special teamer who might be able to get to
- 43:26Speaker 1: the practice squad, and otherwise you stick with the veteran. Ye.
- 43:30Speaker 1: All right, Paul's food is here, so we're gonna take
- 43:32Speaker 1: a break and we'll be right back after Paul's want

- 57:09Speaker 1: And now Walker with a throw picked off by schooler

- 57:16Speaker 1: I'll do it all right. That's the uh first Matt
- 57:23Speaker 1: Morrell mashup preseason. Yeah, it wasn't enough, Paul. Unfortunately, we
- 57:27Speaker 1: can't have the perfect perfect season this year because they
- 57:30Speaker 1: lost that first preseason game. But I'm still hoping for

- 57:48Speaker 1: bad juju. When you're not supposed to talk about it.

- 58:03Speaker 1: A lot of people emailing it, so well, let's get
- 58:06Speaker 1: to them. Scott and Virginia says, do you guys feel
- 58:10Speaker 1: like the Patriots will and should trade for alignment before
- 58:13Speaker 1: the season starts? I know there are ideas of when
- 58:16Speaker 1: being traded, but at this point, the old line may
- 58:19Speaker 1: be the weak link on this team, and it would
- 58:21Speaker 1: be odd if Bill kept it that way. No. I mean, like,
- 58:27Speaker 1: do I think they're gonna trade for a starting offensive line? Yeah? No,
- 58:32Speaker 1: why because I don't think they're in general, they're available.
- 58:36Speaker 1: But do you think you think if Bill really does,
- 58:39Speaker 1: if he agrees that the offensive line is the weak link,
- 58:42Speaker 1: you don't think he'd do something about that? Well, I
- 58:45Speaker 1: think he could trade for aligneman. Yeah, but I'm talking
- 58:49Speaker 1: about a starting caliber offensive one. What about just a
- 58:51Speaker 1: ligneman who's better than what you've got. I don't think
- 58:53Speaker 1: you can do that. I don't think you. I mean,
- 58:55Speaker 1: the only one I would say about is I don't
- 58:58Speaker 1: know is strange because he's a rookie. I've never seen
- 59:02Speaker 1: him play, right, so I can't you know, if he
- 59:04Speaker 1: can't play, we're in big trouble. Yeah. See, but I
- 59:06Speaker 1: even think if quote unquote he can't play. Yeah, it'll
- 59:11Speaker 1: be okay. I mean, just a guard. That's my whole point. No,
- 59:14Speaker 1: I don't, I disagree wholeheartedly. I mean, if we got
- 59:19Speaker 1: a first round pick who can't play, we got a
- 59:23Speaker 1: quite big question mark at right tackle. And I'm telling
- 59:27Speaker 1: you you're not going to know that until his third year,
- 59:29Speaker 1: when they decide not to pick up his fifty year options. Well,
- 59:32Speaker 1: you'll see it. It'll be, it'll be, it'll just look
- 59:35Speaker 1: not right, and you'll have David Andrews yelling on the sideline.
- 59:40Speaker 1: You'll know, you'll know, crossing my fingers, it's not the case.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Kevin and Maryland. On Friday, Paul mentioned that Marshall Newhouse
- 59:48Speaker 1: is the kind of guy you can right now for
- 59:51Speaker 1: tackle depth. I was wondering what you guys thought of
- 59:54Speaker 1: Nate Solder. Would you consider him in new House's category
- 59:58Speaker 1: of tackle or would you say he would add good depth?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Nobody has lived here before. Yeah, that's the kind of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: guy that I'm talking about. Yep, is Solder and upgrade
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: right now to what they've got? No? Yeah, a yeah?
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Now would he be better than Hernic could? Just maybe maybe? Yeah?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: You know, I know he didn't play well recently with
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: the Giants. Sergio is from Mexico. He says, I got
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: a question regarding some fifty three man projections I've been reading. Yeah,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of people add Brendan Schooler and
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: even a little Jordan Humphrey or Joshua Bledsoe. But in
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: all scenarios they keep Davis in Beth Bethel. Obviously Slater
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: is a lot. But do you see a world in
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: which Bill cuts Davis, Bethel or both for some younger
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: prospects on special teams. I think that that's the way
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: it should be, but I don't think that will happen. Yeah,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: you know, both of those guys that are involved in
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: everything that they do special teams wise, the entirety of
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: the summer. Oh, we didn't mention they cut Dalton Keene. Yeah,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: and they cut Elliott who j Elliott and the guy
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: that they just signed number forty three. I can't think
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: of his name now. I kind of liked Elliott Widameyer.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: They didn't cut him, No, no, no no, he just got here.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: You know, Elliot showed a lot of speed on the field.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: But I guess yeah then Keene, I mean, he's just
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: hasn't been able to do it. He's one of those
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: guys that just never ever wield right, could never get
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: it going. I can't tell you he can't play. I've
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: never really seen him get a chance because he's always hurt.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: U and Sergio also says, by the way, Boston cream
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: donuts are the best fried thing ever invented. I don't
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: think at all Boston cream a lot of support. I
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: don't like Boston Cream donuts, and I don't like Boston
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: cream pie. How cream pie is just tremendous. Oh, it's
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: just too much. It's too too much. This guy. Yeah,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: all of a sudden he los, loses a couple of pounds,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: and now he's scoffed at all. I never liked Boston
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: cream pie. All the things that are great and like,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I like German chocolate cake, but they why don't you?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: I want to see if I can get a reaction
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: from Matt Morrel. He turned around as if to get
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: not of approval from Matt after he said I like
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: German chocolate cake. Decide not. It's a good cake. It
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: is a good cake. It's excellent cake. What's your favorite pie?
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Paal Well, probably Boston cream but a lot a huge
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: pie guy, Boston Cream is your favorite pie? Oh? Maybe, well,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I shouldn't say I like keyl I don't really like
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: pie all that much. Really, you don't like apple pie.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I love apple, cherry blueberry. I like lemon meringue. I
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: can eat lemon meringue, and I like key lime. Yeah,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: but I have not a huge I'm not not huge
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: in the pie. Sorry, Okay, that's a muff. Let's go
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: what what what you know? I tried not to scot
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: it up. I tried not to laugh. Originally screwed it up.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: What can I say? I like apple, That's my favorite.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Good apple pie. Mum Suliman in the Bay Area rights
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: in with little Jordan Humphrey making plays on special teams
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and offense in the preseason, notably the effort on the
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: punt last week. Do you see him taking Thornton's spot
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: temporarily while he's injured, or do you see him taking
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: a special team spot from Cody Davis justin Bethel. It's
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: has been well talked about by Paul, but there's a
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: surplus of special team players on this team, and it's
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: becoming unnecessary when considering the lack of talent on offense.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Humphrey can actually bring a presence on offense as an
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: option plus a player on special team. Okay, so Humphrey
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I think has the edge because I think he has
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: the size to be a contributor on special teams. At
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: six three sixty four to twenty five two thirty, I
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: think he has the size to maybe be a little
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: bit of a hybrid guy that can fill roles, maybe
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: as an extra tight end, maybe as a you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: a wide receiver. If you're let's not get this, I mean,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: in my opinion, if you disagree, you tell me if
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Humphrey makes the team, it's because he's going to play
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: special teams. No, Okay, he's not going to be in
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: your top four receivers, so he's not going to get
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: on the field. He's not like Thornton where he's going
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: to be knocking on the door to push someone out
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: of the top four. No. But so you're saying he'll
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: make the team as a special teamer. No, I'm saying
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: that's what he'll play. Oh, he'll play special teams, but
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: he will play receiver a little bit. I think he
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: will absolutely. Nope, he'll play as much receiver as Cody
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Davis play safety. Well, I disagree with that, and in
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: both cases only in emergencies with multiple injuries. Now I think, um,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: he's not getting on the field as a receiver. Over
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: those other things, I think he's pretty versatile. I think you,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: like you said, maybe line him up as a tight end.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: I think you can use it again if you get injuries. Yes,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: he's not playing over Henry or Smith. He's not playing
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: over born. I think if he's on the Meyers. I
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: think if he's on the forty five man roster on
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: game day, you'll see him on the field. You'll see
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: him as a gunner and that's what you'll see it.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: And I think you'll see him line up. My point being,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: and again it's okay, I'm really starting to get freaked
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: out by the hit the switch, I hit the swill. Okay,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: yause that's been happening in a lot that wasn't a
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: power search. Um yeah, no, I mean you you disagree.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I don't think that he offers you much potential as
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: a receiver. I think he's not a kid. It's been
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: around for a few years now, it's like a fourth year.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: That's fine. Um, I don't think he runs all that well.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I think he has good size. He's an extra and
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: if he can play special teams, then you know there's
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: there's some value. I'm not saying that special teams isn't
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: factoring into why they would pick him over he couldn't
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: play special teams, he wouldn't make it. Yeah, okay, but
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I think I think that he wouldn't exclusively, and I
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: think at his size he can. I think he could
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: fit into some of those roles on special teams, whereas
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: like a Trey Nixon. If Trey Nixon's on special teams,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: to me, it's as a returner. I don't think you're
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: going to ask him necessarily to cover kicks and whatnot. Now,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: maybe he will, maybe he's you know, maybe he's got
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: some of that potential. I haven't seen a lot of
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: that from him. His special teams involvement has been as
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: a returner. Let's go to Eldred in North Carolina. Hey Eldred,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Hey Paul Freed. How a two favorite guys? Hey that's right, thanks, Eldred,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: got that right, man. I didn't get to see the
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: game because I'm mad blacked out, but really, you know,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: kick me. I saw a little bit on NFL Football
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: or whatever the networks, But I just saw a little
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: bit of it. Question about the cut guy, I'm with you, Fred,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I saw Elliot a couple of times. He flashed a
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: little bit, yes, in the other corner. I can't understand
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: why they cantalistic can put him on the practice squad.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: You don't get cut now. You don't get cut now
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: if they want you in the practice squad. Who was
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: the other corner? I forgot his name now, I forgot
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: about because the guy they just resigned, he's only he
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: was only back for like a week. Yeah, yeah, Brad Hawkins. Yeah,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: it's a numbers game, and I can see, you know,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Elliott getting cut. But I you know, he did flash
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: a couple of times. I was like, okay, hey, this
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: guy can he can move around the field. He's got
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: a good nose for the ball. So I'm looking, I'm
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: trying to look to find the names. Yeah, what do
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: you think? What do you think we were talking about?
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: A little Jordan humph for you like him? You're a
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: wide receiver specialist, Devin Hap Yeah, I'm will definitely used
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: him in there a little bit packing wide receiver. Yeah,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: you know he might might put not born but Maya's
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: out a little bit, but I hope not because the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Maya the favorite fan favorite. But so people think, I mean,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: in all seriousness, people think that little Jordan Humphrey can
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: give you more offensively than Jacobe Meyers who said that people,
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: I haven't heard anyone say that. Okay, so then how
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: is he playing? Then? Well, he doesn't have to give
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: you more, he can just contribute. He has to be
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: better than any of those four guys. I think Taekwon
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Thornton was knocking on the door of being better than
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: than than some of those guys. I don't necessarily, I
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: don't think this guy has that ability. I don't think
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: he has to be better than everybody. Then how many
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: times do you play five receivers for once in a
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: while five wide? But you don't put five wide receivers
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: on the field when you go five wide. He's like
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: a tight end though, Paul, that's the thing. So he's
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: not better than Henry or Smith. So I don't want
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: him on there, said of them either. All right, I
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: think he's gonna see the field if he makes the team.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I think though too, But I don't know what thing
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: though too. I just think that would only be because
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: of injuries. Injuries maybe, like I didn't get to see
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: the game, I didn't know. Reports are that he fractured
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: his clavical hmm, eight to nine weeks yea, yeah, I
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: mean again, these are reports, nothing, nothing official. But yeah,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that's the that's the word. Well, I like that too.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I do too. I like what I've seen from Thornton. Yeah,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: I'm as optimistic about him as I have been about
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: a young receiver. And yeah, it's a real blow, it
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: really is. It's just gonna well, one more question. I
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: gonna let y'all go. I know we are receiver tight,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: but if did Jet cut me him, would you take
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: a flower on first round pick two years ago? A
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: year ago? Yeah, I think it was a second I
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: think it was a second round pick. But yeah, I
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: would take a first round would be oh, okay, I
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: would take a I would definitely take a flight around him.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Why are they going to come? All right? Thank you?
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: He's been a disappointment, Okay, and they they've got replacements. Uh,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: let's go to Dan in Virginia in Michigan. What's up, Dan? Hey,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: it's the Ogs of the OG podcast, Right, you got
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: that right? Second round the world's original right exactly. I
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: got two questions. First, one is falling on the Thornton question. Uh,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: I know he's got a claviical but I haven't heard
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: exactly how the injury happened. And um, I hate to
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: be a wet blanket, but there was a lot of
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: concern about his size, um and whether or not he
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: was going to last long in the league. Is this
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: claviical injury? Um? As this say bad foreshadowing of those
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: concerns possibly being born out in his career. And the
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: other question I got is, um, so we've got the
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: two of you, You've uh that you've been working together
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: a long time? What do you want? And pop culture
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: would best sum up your relationship? You know? Is that
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: you Butch Cassidy and Sun Dance Kid or Tom and
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Jerry or Batman and Robin Mutton Jeff Mutton, Jeff, Yeah,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know lethal weapon. Oh that's
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: a good one. Yeah, I don't know. I have no idea.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Well Batman and Robin Yeah, sorry, Fred, I was just
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: trying to get got for the Thornton. But I will
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: say Dan having a costello that's more to answer. Daryl
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Hardy to answer Dan's question, I mean, I think you
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: have to say, yeah, it is concerning, it is I
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: think he I think he was hurt on the one
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: catch that he had. He got tackled and was under
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: a pilot of the the gang, the gang cast But like,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: but you didn't see it, No, you did. He stayed
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: in the game too, right, But you know, getting tackled
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: and breaking your collar bone when you were you know,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: slight frame, slightly built kind of a guy, is not like,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: oh now I'm not worried anymore. No, I'm more Usually
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: those those clavical collarbone injuries happen when they land on
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: it or land on their shoulder. Yeah, And I would
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: have to go back and look at the tackle itself
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: to see if someone landed on him. Yeah, because I
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I mean a little bit of an expert on the
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: fractured clavical did it both sides, And one was the
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: way you're describing, like sort of landed on my shoulder right.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Another one I got pile driven right into the ground
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: with a helmet right on my collar bone. Yeah, so
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: I I did. But the left one in my sophomore
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: year of high school, the right one in my junior
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: year of high school. So clavical is not one of
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: those injuries where you break it and then it kind
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: of comes back a little stronger. Wow. Well, I mean
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I never rebroke either one of them, so who knows,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Paul said. Paul's coach always said he was a pain
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: in the neck, and you know, all right they did, no.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: But I mean it is you know when you talk about,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: oh can the guy hold up, and then he's already hurt, right,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: And I don't think that's like, oh, you're being negative. No,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I mean there's questions about his size and then he
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: doesn't even make it through the summer without breaking a bone, right, Yep.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: That's caused for concerns, it is, And maybe this is
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: he'll never get hurt again. But he's alright. Maybe that's
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: why you got him and everybody else thought he'd be
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: available in the fourth or fifth round. Yep, yep. Uh,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: let's see Mark writes in He says, uh, glen Dale
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: pack lived on Elm Street. Paul, do you remember let
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Us is let Us is greg go, Pats let Us
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: is greg I don't know what that means, Paul, Do
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: you remember let Us is greg Go? Pats let Us
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: is greg I don't know what that place. That's so
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: let us. I don't know what that area. Maybe it
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: was like a code word to get in some kind
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: of a club that I was not privy too. I
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know either. You have to because
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: I have frequented some of those kinds of clubs. You'll
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: have to. You'll have to email us backmark and definitely
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: I'm interested in that. But I do know ELM Street. Well,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: let's see David writes in and Bethlehem. I could be
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: imagining things, But I wonder if when and Bourne have
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: contracted diva itis excuse me, like Gilmore had when he
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: was hurt, didn't want to play but wanted a new
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: top tier contract that its performance wouldn't match. This is
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: looking like pro athletes version of work, slow labor union tactics.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I'm not going to get bogged down in details of
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: things that don't really matter to the point of his email,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: But when exactly did Gilmore's contract not matches? There were people,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Paul your people and that last year that said he's
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: just not as good as he used to be. And
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: I wouldn't you know, no one said that. People did.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Oh yes they did, Yes they did. They didn't. They
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: were still pissed that they let him go last year.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Well that was the that was the prevailing opinion was
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: that there was a mistake to let him go last year.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: That's what I said, right, But so let's not that's
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: what you think. So let's not say because there was
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: like some voice in the wilderness that said, um, excuse me,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I don't think he is equal to that that that contract.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: People said that, people played up. He played up to
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: that contract that he signed, and then people said it,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I'm telling you, Paul, now he's a little older, now,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: you know, maybe you don't want to give him another contract.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: And he didn't get another one. It was just a one.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I think he signed a one year deal right with
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: the Colts. Yea. You know, so maybe he's not in
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: line now in his thirties to get another big contract.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: But the one that Belichick, that's one of Belichick's best
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: free agent signings ever. He gave a guy a top
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: of the market deal and the guy lived up to it.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Let's go to Todd, North Carolina. What's up, Todd? Hey, guys, Hey,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: I'm just here to complain a little bit about the
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Perillo on activities lately, you know, not understanding that I'd
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: already heard that Win was on the there's a possibility
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: that to look at the trade win and that's kind
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: of what it sept my postgame email about. I'm worried
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: about that side of the old line, right, Yeah, this
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: is just extending my streak. I have absolutely no idea
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: what you're talking about. Fred has been talking. Fred has
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: been talking about trading Isaiah Win for like a year
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: and a half, like like like possibly you were doing
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: it up the whole offseason. I know, But but my
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: recent thing is when he wasn't playing. Oh yeah, that
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: was your theory. That's why it's right, right to which
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I disagree with that. I still disagree with that. Yeah,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: And the fact that he came back with a red
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: shirt on it tells me he was hurt or that
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: they still want to keep him clean because there still
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: might be a trade. Well, then you wouldn't have him
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: practicing at all if you were trying to keep him cleaning.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Put him on a red shirt just in case he
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: has to play with us. Okay, Yeah, Now, my my
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: next question might cause little angst. But some of the
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: I guess not some nice people and on Fox kind
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: of came out and Sport said that, you know, obviously
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: it was seventy thirty Brady to Belichick, and I was
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: thinking about it for a while and my take on it,
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: for the first three Super Bowls they were together as
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: kind of I think it was more Bill than Brady.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Brady was kind of a game manager at that time,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: and then the last three it was Brady. So maybe
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: it worked out closer to fifty fifty. I just want
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: to take your get your guys take on that, because
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: you guys are the team, your members of the team.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: To me, yeah, that's fair to me. That's a good
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: That assessment makes sense to me, And that's todd. That
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: makes sense to me because early in Brady's career he
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: didn't have all the answers, um, and he wasn't the
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: player that he was later on mentally. UM, So that's
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: that's fair. I think I would say the first one
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: was more Bill. After I mean the very next year
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: in two thousand and two, Tom Brady led the league
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: in touchdown passes. Yeah, so Tom Brady didn't need to
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: be in to twenty fourteen before you know, he was responsible.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: I don't know, but like he got good fast. But
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: you could say general manager Bill you know, built a
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: defense that in two thousand and three, two thousand and four,
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: if the Patriots had a seven point leader more the
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: game was over. That wasn't Tom Brady. That was you know,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: overall team. I don't know, they had a great team.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I didn't say that they didn't have a great team. Yeah,
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: but I'm sorry, I'm not giving the coach the credit
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: for the quarterback who led the league in touchdown passes. No,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: that's fun. But like in two thousand and one, Tom
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Brady wasn't yet but a masterful job. But in oh three,
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: oh four they were great on right, defense has a
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: much great great teams and much of a reason that
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: they won as the offense two thousand and four especially
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: just a absolutely stacked so both sides of the ball. Yeah,
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: I listen. I always said that each of them made
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: the other better. They were both great in their own rights,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: but each of them brought the other to new heights.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: And you know, listen right now, the evidence there is
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: that you know it was more Brady because of what
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Brady's done afterwards. It Yeah, and you'll never hear me
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: tell you that Belichick didn't know what he was doing.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: You know what, the Belichick had a big part in
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: their winning. And what's easier to be a top notch
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: quarterback and go to a team that has a lot
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: of weapons and win a Super Bowl, or be a
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: top match coach, lose your best player and then go
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: back to the Super Bowl. What's easier to do? I
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: don't know. I kind of feel like I'm still talking
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: to Todd. I have no idea what we're talking about. Okay,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: like top not I don't know, like what what feat
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: is easier? You know, to start over at quarterback as
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: a head coach and then immediately go to a super
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Bowl or as a you know, the top quarterback, go
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: to another team with weapons and go to a Super Bowl.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: What's what's easier? I think roughly the same. I don't
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: like you you're telling me that. I mean, if you
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: just just changing teams and going to a team first year,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: you know, after being in the league for twenty years,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: that's easy. I didn't say it was easy. I didn't
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: say it was easy. I said which is easier? You know,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: which is more likely? Probably the quarterback going to the
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Super Bowl, So of course it is. But you're also
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: making it sound like Bill did the other one. Yeah,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: he didn't and he won't. No, of course, no, it
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: you know, he didn't have a quarterback. Now you can
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: blame Bill the GM for that not having the backup plan,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: but you're also making it out to be their quarterback
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: away from the Super Bowl. They're not like, let's this
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: isn't on mac Jones. He was fine last year. No,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: I don't blame it on it. I'm just saying that,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: you know, it's what what was being asked of Bill
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: immediately after Tom Brady left was probably harder than what
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Brady did. And I'm not taking anything away from what
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Brady did. It was amazing and the fact that they
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: were in the running the next year as well and
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: probably will be there this year too. You know, it's
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: it's it's Brady Brady. It's the greatest. Like, I don't
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: see why you have to like diminish Brady by propping
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: up Bill. I agree, you know, I agree, And I
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: don't diminish Bill by proper bring up Brady. Yeah, um,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Speis and Fresno, what's up space by getting really weird today?
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: Oh Wowob you know, by the way, I joined AARP
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: like four years ago, right, Yeah, because they had a
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: free gift. It was like a bag, travel bag. The
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: bag was app The bag was like so such a
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: piece of crap that I wait, you mean the free
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: gift for signing up quality. It was such a piece
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: of crap that I never joined again. I relinquished my
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: membership for a arp h all. The discounts at the
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: movie theaters isn't worth that disrespect of a bag that
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: they sent me. That's fine. I'm not impress today. What
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: is that that You're great moments in Freddy history? Oh? Man,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: on what you're guys are just talking about it? I mean, yeah,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: but fred what what Brady has done since he left
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: is more impressive than what Bill has done left? Oh?
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Absolutely no. That's why I said it the way I
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: did when he was like, you make it sound like,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: you know, Bill's a breath away and just needs a quarterback.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: But here, but but but let's put it in another way.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: If if Bill had won a Super Bowl with Cam
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Newton and Brady had won a Super Bowl with the
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which of those feats would have been
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: more impressive? Probably Bill, But I'd have to see what happened. Yeah,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I would say that that Bill would be the harder job. Yeah,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: on its on its surface, but you also you're really
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: glossing over like how bad Tampa Bay was, Like just
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: because they had a couple of good players doesn't mean
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: that they were a super Bowl team. People said they
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: made them a Super Bowl too. Well, people, I know
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: what people say because people hate Brady just like they
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: hate Bill. I know. But people said that they had
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: talent the year before, but they just had but they
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: shocked and Brady brought in the culture that's not easy,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: and they brought in and into me this as honestly
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: as you can. Yeah, be honest, please, please be honest.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Does Aaron Rodgers go to Tampa and win in Super Bowl? Yes?
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: I see that. You can't be intellectually honest. What he
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: can't win win his own team? Oh? I I think
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: he would have the ability to win this. You just
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: like gloss over words like culture, like they're ingrained my rights.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Be like to just sit there and say, Brady inherited
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: the best team in football and that's the only reason
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: why he won well, and they also brought in one
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: of the worst coaches with one of the worst franchises
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: with a losing attitude and completely transformed him overnight. Yeah,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: he's got to do it all for that red faced dummy,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: as my brother likes to call Bruce Are. I don't
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: think I'm being dishonest by thinking that Aaron Rodgers could
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: have gone there with the same talent with Gronk. And like,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: you want to tell me Peyton Manning could have done it,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I'll say yes, because Peyton Manning had that kind of
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: culture yea inherent in his ability. You want to tell me, like,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: as much as I make fun of Drew Brees for
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: not being one of the great, he might have been
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: able to do it, Okay, because I think he's got Decca.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers All right, Nope, but you just mentioned some
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: other Aaron Rodgers ain't going somewhere and changing the culture.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: He's making the culture work. Okay, But you kind of
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: made the point that like a great quarterback with the
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: right mindset could do what Brady did. Yeah, but but
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: you're talking about the great again with the right mindset,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: Like that's nothing. He has perhaps, until right now, the
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: greatest mindset in the history of sports. Well not, according
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: to Andy. I said, until right now, Andy said weird.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Andy said he lost the mindset when he stopped going
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: to OTA's. Remember that. Yeah, but he got reinvigorated when
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: everybody told him he couldn't do it. Remember that Now,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Now I don't know what he's thinking. You don't have
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: to sell me on Tom Brady. I know you kissed him,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: ye swapping spit. You like really struggled to come back
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. Like I always thought that that
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: was like a microcosm of why he wouldn't be a
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: guy that could. Well, that's true. Like his record in
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: comebacks is not good. Yeah, yeah, I got a Bill's
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: question A hop hop. I have this weird thing now
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: where I used to when the patients were good, I
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: used to, uh find Bill's attitude and press comforts it's
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: funny and just entertaining. Now I think it's completely annoying,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Like the way that he spoke to Phil Perry saying
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: it's a process. It just it seems so stupid. Well,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: that's the thing I just said. I started chuckling because
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: I really appreciate the brutal honesty that speeches showed. When
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: when when we were winning the Super Bowl every year,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I used to chuckle at it. Right now I realized
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: why everybody thought he was a duce. Well, that's the thing,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: you know. It's like when you're winning, you don't care,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: but like when you're losing, as a fan, you want
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: your coach to be as upset as you are. And
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: I would say the same exact thing in terms of,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: well he's upset, like I know, but I would say
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: the same exactly. You want answers, you know, like as
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: a fan, I don't really care are about that stuff
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: when when I win, and that's fine, it's not about
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: the media for me as a fan, I agree, But
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: when I when I have questions and I don't understand,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: like I thought, it was kind of laughable speed Friday
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: night on Twitter, people were talking about how much Bill
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: was laughing and the press confidence after the game. Do
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: you remember this bread we talked about the postgame show. Yeah,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: they didn't even get it. People that were talking about
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: Bill smiling and laughing in the postgame press convent, they
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: were getting mocked and they didn't even get it. For
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: him to stop that guy asking the question in the
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: middle and say I never said that. When the guy said,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I know you you you're not really interested in talking
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: about the offensive playoff, I never said that, and he
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: started laughing. He was mocking you, and you don't even
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: get it. You'd think he was just trying to have fun,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: like he was mocking you, and you think that he
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: was just laughing like he wasn't laughing. He was making
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: fun of you. He was laughing at you, not with you. Process.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: What is the process? Like, what is Bill talking about? Well,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: we don't know. The process is a buzzword to not
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: have to answer the question. Yeah, we don't know. The
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: process is the newest version. No, let's be I'm not
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: yelling at you. You got it exactly right in my mind.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I think Fred agrees um. And it's been interesting with
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Fred the last couple of games because Fred's been down
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: here for the postgame show to listen to it live
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: when we're when we're hearing it in, Fred's reaction is
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: the same as what you're talking about right now, spe
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: So the process to me is the latest version of
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: you know, we'll do what's in the best interest of
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: the team. It's a non answer that encompasses everything. Yeah,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: he's process. Now, I hear that you that that that
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: Jackie drop of her grunting. You guys used to play
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: all the time. That's what goes on in my head. Well, yeah,
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: every single thing they're doing right now is a process,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: every single thing. So it's an out, it's a it's
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: a you know, but don't you think it's just another
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: one of those phrases that he uses as a crutch.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. I'm not going to answer the question.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: What isn't a process? Everything's a process. But but it's
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: to me just like plug in, just replace we did
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: with we thought was in the best interesting exactly, That's
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: all it is. You know, Like someone asked him why
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Kendrick Bowen didn't play the other night. He wasn't he
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: wasn't available to play, like that was his answer, something
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: like that, like I know, well that's no no bleep,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: that one I don't care about because he's not here.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Why don't you say, I'm not going to get into that. Yeah,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: well then you could do it that way too. You know.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: It's like it's a half off to a guy like
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: Mike Reif who just for year in and year out
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: has to deal with this kind of garbage. I mean,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: it's it's gonna be as kind of a demoralizing job,
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: and he's great. Anyway, I'll take it off all right,
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: thanks by five. Five past five hundred is the eighth ticket.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Hut Line web radio at Patriots dot Com is the
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: email address Mark writes back. He says, Greg, let us
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: is Greg. He says, it was written on the wall
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: of the first balcony in Glendale Park and no one
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: ever knew what it meant. It's a mystery post. That's fine.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: That goes on. Was this like from like, uh, the
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: old days or is this more of a new thing?
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I think it's see now that that wall is all gone,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: that's where they put the new high school. So it
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: had to be the old days. What No that it
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: could have easily been something from like the nineties. That
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: would be like some guy Greg's old weed. Sounds right
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: to me. Yeah, I always go to the guys that
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: are into that sort of thing. Those answers, sure, But yeah,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: I wasn't aware of that. It used to be Glendale
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Park used to have a big hill on the side
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: fred and then there was like a couple of terraces,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: and they would have like a parking lot, then a hill,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: and then a terrist and you'd have like basketball courts
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: and then a big wall and another another terrorist and
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, and it went all
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: the way up and that's where they sort of knocked
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: all that down and put a put the new high school.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Then Frank writes in your podcast is becoming unlistenable? Patriots
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Curmudgeon Radio still about Brady Belichick, nonsense and favorite desserts. Yeah,
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: that's all we've been talking about. Yeah, um, what are
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: you gonna do? That's all right? You know, so don't listen.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: You know what, you know what happens. You don't find
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: that people are more on edge when we sort of
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: veer off the subject. Oh yeah, they you know why
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: why because they know they're not that Oh well, no,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I frustrating these things that used to be Like it's
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: kind of like Speed just said, like, oh, it was
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: great when we were winning and Bill was was not
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: giving us any answers. I thought it was funny, but
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: now it's not fun I think people feel that their
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: time is valuable and they tune in to hear all
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: the answers to you know, why is there and we're
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: talking about Isaiah Winn started right, and we're hearing about
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Isaiah Win and the possibilities of him being traded. If
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: that's a good move or a bad move. I mean,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I think that has to do with the Patriots. We
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: spent a good twenty five minutes talking about Isaiah Winn.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: You know why people are upset about that because he's
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: not that good. He was a first round pick and
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: they're talking about trading him in the fourth round in
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: the in the fourth year. That's why he's making ten
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: million dollars a year. Uh, keep listening, Frank, or don't.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: It's up to you. Uh, Neil and New Brunswick. Uh,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: don't trade win, he says. I agree, he's averaged. But
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: if you trade your starting tackle three weeks before the season,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: you're basically telling your fan base we don't think we
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: have a chance of winning this year. I'm a thousand
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: percent with Neil. Maybe that's true. Uh, Neil, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I agree, Neil, maybe that's true. But at least we
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: have some hope. Also, we were recently in the USA
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: after a three year pandemic hiatus. It was a reminder
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: that Tim Horton's donuts are so much better than Dunkin Donuts.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Crumbly yeah or not necessarily. Um, I don't want to
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: be careful here. They're a sponsor. We love our our friends.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: They're not known for the donuts. They're not great donuts. Yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: I disagree. I eat a lot of donuts. I think
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: dunt gets pretty good. Why did they why job I
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: dribed man? I think they are too, But why did
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: they change their name from Dunkin Donuts just Duncan. That's
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: what New England just says instead of saying the full
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: we're lazy and they took the marketing. Some people said
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: double D. I have never heard that. You never heard
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: double D? No, you can honestly say, I've never heard
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: somebody referred to Duncan as everybody always just says dunks dunks.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Dunks is popular. Yeah, yeah, I mean I've tried the others.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Duncan's the best for me because it's the coffee isn't angry,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: you know, like I can tolerate it. Oh, the like
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: the coffee, yeah you're talking about yeah? Oh yeah, And
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: and I have I've never had really a problem with
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Duncan Donuts. The donuts are fine. There's um. Growing up,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: there was a Dunkin Donuts right on the corner of
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: my street, UM and it was one of the it
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: was like one of the really old ones. It was
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: one of the originals, remember the old like the light pink.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Yeah logos they used to have to show it kind
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: of went orange and brown. Yeah, yeah, that's we used
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: to go to one in Cranston back in the day
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: when I was a little kid. Yeah, dunkin Donuts is
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: um Like I think they might be venturing into with
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: trying to do too many different things. Yeah, but I
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: think like the breakfast sandwiches are pretty good. You get
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: like a baking egg and cheese on a bagel. Sure
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: it's pretty good. Oh sure, you know it's not like
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: one of those you eat and you feel like you
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: just had. Like I will say though that I thought
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: they went they changed their cups in their lids. They
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: went from styre foam to you know, paper, and they
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: change their lids. And I thought the lids were the
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: problem for the leaks over the last couple of years.
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: It's not. It's the cups. If the rim of the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: cup gets a little dent in it, it'll leak all
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: over the place. They gotta fix that. They gotta fix that. See,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I have to take your word. I thought they had
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: plastic like the plastic cups now, no, they have. It's
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: patience for ice. Let's talk about hot coffee. Hot coffee.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: They don't do that. Yeah, ok yeah, okay, yeah see
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: I don't. I don't drink coffee, so I don't. I
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: haven't run into you don't like coffee? Ever run into
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: your first world? You ever tried coffee? I have tried coffee,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: and you just didn't like it. I don't like the taste. No, No,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: I drink diet pepsie. I do like the taste of that.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: That's where it banned straws in Rhode Island at Dunkin Donuts.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: You have to ask for your straw. Now. They won't
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: just give you a straw. That's against the law. Now
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: they don't even give you a paper straw. That's right, though,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: you have to ask for it. But they should make
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: their cups now with the drinkable lids, so right right.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: Some more info from Mark nineteen seventies or early eighties,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: written on the wall on the first balcony. Last time
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I mentioned it. You guys are the first and the
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: very best. I think Born is a must stay. He
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: was our best or second best at least last year.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: I think with Thornton's injury. I agree with with Mark,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: and that makes sense to me that his time frame,
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: because he sounds like he's around the same age as me. Um.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: It's funny. I just never noticed it. So I didn't
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: live down that part of the city though, So I
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: wasn't there like hanging out all the time. Well you
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: would notice stuff like that. Yeah, I lived near Evert
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Stadium and we did not graffiti our walls. Christen Sacred Ground,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: Short Memorial Stadium, Chris and Virginia. How is Cleveland Stadium?
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I was supposed to go up to the Patriots Colts
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: game in November, but it's ten days before my wife's
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: due date. That might be cutting it close. So instead
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: I'm thinking about the Browns game. I was just wondering
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: how that stadium is. And to go on record, I
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: was totally wrong about Keen watching him play in college.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I thought he was going to be all over the field. Yeah,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I mean I would, don't be so hard on yourself
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: on Keene. He just never stayed healthy. We never really
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: got a chance to see him do any of the
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: things that we thought he might be able to do. Yeah.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: I was never overly high on him, you know, with
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: his profile but I don't think it's fair to beat
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: yourself up for a guy who just couldn't stay healthy.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: In terms of Cleveland, it's not a bad stadium. It
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: was built, like what late nineties, right on the lake there.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: You know, that's how they got the Browns back, right.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I built that. It was part of that whole redo
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: of Cleveland. They brought in the rock and roll hall thing.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Yeah in Jacobs Field at the time. I know it's
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: not called now or something like that. Who is who
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: is the Patriots player? Um? They played there one day
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: at Cleveland. It was really windy, and they asked the player,
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: you know, what did you think about the win? And
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: he said, uh, oh, what do you expect when you
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: build a stadium on the ocean? You're unbelievable. Who was that?
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: It was Oilcam Boyd for the Red Sox, and the
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: fog moved in, Okay, and they could the fog moved
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: in and they had to delay the game for fog,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: and oil can Boyd said that's what happens when you
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: build a s I know it was a Boston guy
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: that was baseball, So you just made one up. Is
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Jacob's on the uh ocean? The lake two. I don't know,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: must be right. They didn't play in Cleveland. Pretty much
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: everything is on that lake, right Yeah. Uh, Mike Deuce
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: is on the phone again. Uh, Duce, what's the update
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: of practice? Oh, that's not looking good, guys. Let's just
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: say DeVante Adams probably is cut about ten passes today.
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: I mean he's just been Him and Hunter renfro are
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: money in the bank anytime they throw to him. So
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: when the other team's quarterback can throw it to his receivers,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: they get caught news at eleven. Yeah, and I mean
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: Paul right again, they're open. They're open all the time.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: The Patriots offense has uh, I mean it's it's a
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: little bit tough to see. So I don't want to
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: say that this has been the worst practice I've seen them,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: but it very well might be. Um in terms of
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: eleven on eleven, I mean we had each team got
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: six reps. Uh, they complete a one path. Um, Freddie
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: to DeVante Parker. You need to go, you need to
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: send help to Douce. I mean this is oh, yeah,
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: so I'm worried. I'm worried about my guy. I need
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: my guy for the pre and postgame show. Did the
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: Patriots look as bad on day one of the joints
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: as Carolina looked on day one of that last week. Yeah,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I mean, they just they haven't been able to do anything.
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: It's more of the same. It's you know, in each
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: period they maybe make one play and then there's a
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: whole lot of drops on a whole lot of muddy
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: running situations. It's just cracked, you know, and it's dark.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: It's dark contrast to what the Raiders show you with
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: Parker and Renfro. I mean, it's just you know, it's
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: in time. And yeah, that's because we're playing them in
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: the regular season and we were letting them show. What's
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: everything they do. You don't get it due chess checkers,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: you know, none of them, none of us were feeling
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: really high arms this summer for the Patriots. But today
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: just I think the you know, going against another team,
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: certainly with a number of really good players on it,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: but this has been a rough day. And again I
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: want to stress like we couldn't see everything from the
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Patriots offense. We saw a lot more of the Patriots
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: defense and the Raiders offense, which was actually pretty cool
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: because it was right in front of us. So I
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: kind of set up right near the offensive line. Coach
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: was listening to them, you know, so that that was
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: a little bit interesting. Couldn't tell exactly what was going
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: on in consensus from the media tent as they're trying
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: to like stand on their tippy toes those libin klers
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: to see what was going on with the offense was
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: you know, similar, more of the same. Once they got
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: to eleven on eleventh though, and I was able to
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: see all the reps, I mean, you know, thirty seven
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: stuff one completion to to one incomplete, the thirty seven
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: pass breakup to agil or stuff to run to thirty
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: eight incomplete. Uh, and then the last, the last, the
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: last eleven on eleven session they did. Um, the offense,
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: it was more middle field, a little bit more situational.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: They give you, gave them someplace to move them down,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: but they ended that one with what was an interception.
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: So um, it's uh, it's it's probably going to be
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: pretty bad, uh, in terms of the reports coming out
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: of here. But of course the disclaimer that you know,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: there is some muddy stuff. Was Josh celebrating brutal on
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: the sidelines. It's no Mick Lombardi really really active, and
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I mean there was the one cool part about the
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: practice is being right next to the Raiders coaches. I
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: mean it's it's something you don't ever get at Patriots practices,
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: where you hear everything they're saying. Um. You know sometimes
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: when you see like run plays, you're not sure they
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: were successful or not. You know, when you and the
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: right next to the sideline, you can tell if they
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: were successful and not based on you know, the offensive
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: line coaching losing his mind about missing a blocker. What's
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: what's the physical what's the physical level? Are guys tackling?
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: Is it just thumping? What are they doing? No? No,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: there's been no tackling, no shenanigans either, no fights or anything,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: just a lot of tagging off. But you know, when
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: they got Parker, I'm sorry, when they have Adams and
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: rentfrow it it doesn't really matter. It's just I mean,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: Adams is catching everything throng. Is Waller taking part? Mike
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Darren Waller? You know, I have not I have not
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: seen him. Actually, now that you mentioned that I've been
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: looking for him earlier, I don't. I don't believe that
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: he is out here. Yeah, what what about the type
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: of defense the Patriots are playing. Are they playing man
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: on man and who's covering Parker Adams Adams? Yeah, Jayla Mills,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: Jayala Mills got beat a few times by him. Um,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: you know one particular one on one rep with Mills
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: and and Adams, which you know, of course it's really
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: tough of the dbs, but it was one where you know,
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: Mills got positioned on him and kind of had him
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: pinned against the sideline and Adams just turned the speed
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: on and ran away from him and they completed the
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: pass over him. So um, Mills also had one word.
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: It almost looked like he went to the interception and
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: missed it and Davante Adams grabbed another one. So I mean,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: it's just the takeaway from today is the Davante Adams
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: show and more of the same from the Patriots offense. Well,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: he's one of the best, you know, that's for sure.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: Like there's a lot of the young kids that everybody
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: loves to talk about, but Davante Adams, he can't forget
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: about him. He's he is a class in and of himself.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, in all seriousness, you gotta cheer up
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: a little bit. It's a practice and by the way,
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Davante Adams just just in. He's really good, right, So
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: the fact that he's one more more than his share
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: of reps is not caused for the sky falling. We relaxed.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: How's mac look in terms of just getting the ball
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: out and you know, confidence and you know how does
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: he look that way and he's slamming of the thigh pads? No,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: none of that. I mean again, like we got it.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: We're looking through a line, you know, a sideline right now,
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: a Patriots. I'm just looking at all the Patriots players
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: and you kind of have to look at the gaps
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: in between to see what they're actually So maybe that's it.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: Maybe you just haven't seen all the good plays. Yeah,
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: that's it. Yeah, that's the ticket. Yeah, sure, on the
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: moments like can't see all right, well listen, thanks for
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: the updates for bringing us down. Yeah, um, what's on
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: the docket tonight? What do you got planned? Strippers? I
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: don't know. There's a little rumors of the little media
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: get together, so we'll see. I'm not sure part taking
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: that or not. Is it a media at large get
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: together or is it? Wow? So you know what that means.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: I'm not there, so you were invited. So so the
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: Patriots aren't sponsoring it, right, it's just the media doing
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: it themselves. Yeah, I know it was well, Staky was
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: going around asking people who wanted to go, and I
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: wasn't there, and then I came back and everyone was like, oh,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: I told them that that you wanted to go, And
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I'm like, why why did you do that? I see now,
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: So we'll see, we'll see how it ends up. All right. Yes,
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: I've been at some of those in the past. All right, Mike, Well,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: enjoy and we'll look forward to your blobservations in a
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: in a little bit. Oh yeah, for sure. And I'm
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: not sure. We'll do our best to make it able
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: as possible. All right, thanks Mike. Just so on the scene,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: I'm a little concerned, like that was as down as
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: I've heard deuson since the postgame show with the Buffalo. Well,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: you know, I think I think we had one series
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: against the Panthers and everybody got excited, Oh they can
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: score a touchdown? You know that they had too bad one.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: That's a great that's a great point. Like everybody forgot
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: about the first two series and always focused on the bomb,
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: like the bomb was fantastic. It was a great throw
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: by Mac and a great catch by Agaloor. He's open
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: like great. Yeah, I would have felt better even though
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: I love the bomb, Don't get me wrong, I want
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: they need big chunk plays. But I would have felt
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: better is if they had a drive that included the bomb,
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: but also had another drive that included you know, seven
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: or eight, four or five yards. At the time, that
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: was a ten play drive that forty five yards came
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: on one play, right, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Like I would have felt better if it was a
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: little bit more of both. Yeah. So you know, I
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: do think you're right, Like everybody's sort of glossed over
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: the first two, three and ounce. Yeah, so it was
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: almost like a slap in the face of reality. Deuce's
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: report now, and I think, you know, if he's down,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: I'm sure that a lot of the other writers are
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: the same money interested to see what some of the
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: other guys. I mean, I don't know how many people
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: are even out there, but I'll be interested to see
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: what they say. Yeah, so, you know, we want this.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: We want to see signs that we're gonna be all right,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: you know, offensively, We're gonna be okay. And then you know,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: we get all excited about how our defense has been playing,
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: and then they come up against, you know, a pretty
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: talented offensive team with Josh McDaniels as the head coach.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: Is he also the offensive coordinator? Is he both out there? McDaniels,
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: I don't think so, who knows, don't you know? Maybe
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: he is? He calling the place. You know, he's got
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: a hand in the end, you know. And so we're like, oh,
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: as soon as we come up against somebody, you know,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: with a clue, we're trying, you know, so we want
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: to we want to, we want we want good news.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: And uh, it's a little discouraging, but you know, the
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: Panthers had a terrible his calling the place. The Panthers
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: had a terrible first day, and on day two they
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: were much better. So let's let's hope the Patriots are
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: the same way tomorrow, you know now that we uh,
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: you know, because you know, you can be in awe
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: of the taj Mahal and you get all wrapped up
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: into the maybe that's it, Maybe that's it. It was
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: too nice. Yeah, Uh, let's see what have we got here? Oh,
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: so we were talking, see we read his email. Let's
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: go to Juan Uh. He's in Stratford. Uh, considering the
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: clavicle plays such a huge role in our mobility. This
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: is Thornton. He's talking about how much do you think
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: his injury will affect his catching ability long term? I'm
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: more worried about this than how soon he'll be back
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: on the field. How much Thornton's injury will affect his
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: ability to catch the ball long term? Term? Zero? Yeah,
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: he broke his collar and you know no, I mean,
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: he broke his collar bone, right, that's not gonna have
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: an impact on him his ability to catch. He says
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: that it hurts mobility. It doesn't, okay, like he I mean,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: unless he has like some kind of complication or whatever
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: that's unforeseen. But it's a bone, I mean, according to reports.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Am I wrong here? Yeah? I miss because sometimes our
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: listeners are more up to date on some of this
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: stuff than than we are. Yeah, so maybe he has
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: some information that we don't have, So I don't want
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: to dismiss him. But if it's just a broken collar bone,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: it'll he'll he'll inde time and he'll be fine. I mean,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: like I know what he's saying, Like some injuries cause
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: scar tissue, and the scar tissue decreases mobility. But I
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: don't think in this case you're worried about like I
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: would worry about that if he like tore his rotator cup. Yeah,
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: and now he doesn't have the mobility to reach above
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: his head and have that big catch radius, right, but
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: a collar bone shouldn't do that. Still in Seattle, I
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: don't feel the best about this coming season. I'm thinking
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: below five hundred is very realistic. I know it's early
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: and a lot of this is based on nothing tangible,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: but what I have seen doesn't make me feel like
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: this team can compete with the rest of the AFC. Yeah,
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: how you people are down? Maybe Frank's right, maybe this
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: is curmudgeon City. Oh no, I'm not making fun of
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: the Frank's comment about curmudgeon City. Yeah, I'm making fun
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: of the fact that, like he he's making fun of
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: like we're talking about like we talked about donuts the
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: whole ship, Like we didn't spend forty five minutes talking
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: about the offense. He happened to tune in when we
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: were But yeah, I think there's been a lot of
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: I don't want to say negativity. But I want to
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: say there's a lot of doubt among atriots nation, and
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: I think that's why people like was it Frank, Yeah,
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: that's why they're reacting the way they are. Yeah, because
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: they don't it's it's not all about who's hosting the
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: AFC Championship game. That's the way it used to be around.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: It's not like that anymore. Ryan from Connecticut, I know
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: Patricia's calling the offensive plays with Judge waiting in the wings,
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: But what about I don't know that. What about Nick Kayley?
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Why a Patricia and Judge gotten the chance and not Kayley.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: I was under the impression that they blocked Kayley from
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: interviewing with the Raiders, so they must see something in him.
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: They did block Kayley from interviewing with the Raiders. Yeah,
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: but I don't know why. And Bill says he doesn't.
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: He's not ready to talk about who's calling the plays.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: It's a process, so I don't know who's calling. Does
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: that process include Nick Kayley? Well, he also said, you know,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: as part of that, like the email had just said, logically,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: you know Matt Patricia's calling the plays, because that's who
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: we saw actually calling the plays. But Bill to me.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: His answer intimated that there's more two of them. He's
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: communicating with the quarterrect right, and I think he was.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: He went to great lengths to say he wasn't calling
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: the plays right, he was communicating to the quarterback right.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: So I'm not ready to say that he's the guy
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: who's going to call the place right. I don't know.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I think it's Bill. More updates from Tyle. He has
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: a very important question. Uh, if Bill and Tom were desserts,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: what kind of desserts would they be? If you were
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: a tweet, I think Bill would be a tart and
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Tom's very tart, particularly target. Yeah, Tom would probably be
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: chocolate pudding. I don't know idea. I'm not good at those.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: Tom would be a creme brewer. What's what's the fanciest
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: thing that you could come up? Yeah, what's the top?
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: What's the the greatest of all time dessert? He'd be
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: be a banana split? Right? Isn't that the greatest dessert
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: of all time? Not a hot fudge Sunday? Well, banana
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: split is a hot foote Sunday with banana bananas? Well,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: in your opinion, but if you look in the venue,
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: the banana split is slit. The banana split is more
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: expensive than the hot fudge Sunday. I'm gonna look down. Okay,
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: look it up. Look it up. At the risk of
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: further pissing off, Frank looked up. All right, is it really?
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: I bet you there would be Yeah, yeah, banana split
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: and you get in it's bigger. It's a bigger slit.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Run you seven and nine dollars had an ice cream shop. Oh,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: this is not what I'm looking for. Just go to
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: like friendlies and look at their menu. You know. Yeah,
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: that's not a bad idea. While Paul's doing that big research, uh,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Pat and Agawam says, I had a question one of
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: my most enjoyable shows in a while. I had a
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: question regarding Orlando Brown's status with Kansas City. I know
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: he's playing this season on the franchise tag. Does that
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: mean he could still be traded but would have to
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: garner a first round pick? Would you give up win
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: and a first rounder to Kansas City for Brown knowing
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: you'd have to sign him long term? And would he'd
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: be worth signing. I don't know how good he is. Yeah,
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: whenever you say Orlando Brown, I think Orlando Pace. I would.
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: I mean, I would be willing to. I don't know
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: about a first rounder and win, but I don't know
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: how good he is. Yeah, but in terms of the
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: franchise tag rules, if you want to play, you have
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: to offer a first round pick. But the tea doesn't
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: have to see. But that's that's past now. Yeah, you
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: can't sign a franchise guy anymore that that window was quote.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: You would have to trade for him. Now the email
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: is right in theory, you couldn't really expect to get
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: him for less than the first round pick. Yeah, when
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: he would have when we're two first round picks if
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: someone signed him right as a franchise guy. But I
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: don't I don't know exactly how good he is. Claire Rights,
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: Hello boss Man, Hello Pauli, Hello Marine. Uh sorry if
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: you've touched on this, but have you mentioned Humphrey to
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: tight end? Maybe yes, we have. How difficult is it
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: for a player to evolve it to a different position?
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: In which transition do you think maybe more difficult and
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: easier than others? Well, I think I think corner to
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: safety is a common one. Um. You know, you know
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: on the interior, you know, guard to center, sena to
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: guard a lot of guys do that. Um, you know,
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: there's I agree, yeah, that's about it. Though other than
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: that they are there's you know, if you want to
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: break up the wide receiver position into the different you know,
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: like slot verse outside. You know, it might be harder
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: for an inside guy to be an outside guy because
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: he just doesn't have the speed, um you know, things
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: like that. But in terms of wide receiver to tight end,
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: it depends on how they use it, you know, different
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: tight ends are use different ways. If he's going to
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: be used to block a lot, is he a good blocker?
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: Can he can he stand up to being to blocking right?
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: You know, I don't know when I when I mentioned that,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: my feeling was more in terms of I don't think
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: he's fast enough to be a threat on the outside
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: the numbers as a wide receiver, but I think his
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: size um is such that he could give you an
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: option as like an extra tight end down down the
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: middle and the scene between the numbers where I think
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: he's caught a lot of his passes. Dan writes in
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: Brady would be Brady would be a Boston cream donut
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: or Boston cream pie, because truly they are the greatest
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: of desserts. Wow, I really disagree with that. I don't
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: know how many people have to tell you they like
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: Boston Cla. You realized wrong too much? So how much
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: more is the Banana Split? Matt Hot Fudge Sunday on
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: Friendlies is five forty nine, the Banana Split eight sixty nine?
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: There you go, all right? You pay three bucks for banana,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: You get what you pay for. All right. That's gonna
