Latest / The Paul Barron Crypto Show / Could $PENGU Actually Flip $DOGE?🐧Luca Netz Pudgy Penguins INTERVIEW🚨
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Today we're going to dive into a project that you
- 0:01Speaker 1: guys will recognize, and that of course is Pudgy Penguins
- 0:04Speaker 1: and dive in a little deep. My name is Paul Bara.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome back into the show. And I think when you
- 0:08Speaker 1: look at what's happening out there in the market, one
- 0:10Speaker 1: of the things you have to look at today is
- 0:12Speaker 1: self custody. So you guys make sure and thank our sponsor,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and that is Tangent. This is where you guys can
- 0:17Speaker 1: go start your self custody journey. This is like a
- 0:20Speaker 1: little credit card. It works very easily with your app
- 0:22Speaker 1: on your phone, doesn't matter if it's Android or Apple.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And the cool thing with this is it's super easy
- 0:28Speaker 1: to set up. So if you're brand new to crypto
- 0:30Speaker 1: right now, this literally takes you three minutes, so very
- 0:33Speaker 1: easy to use. We're going to leave a link down
- 0:35Speaker 1: below so you guys can use that Get started. Gives
- 0:37Speaker 1: you a little bit of a discount to get going
- 0:39Speaker 1: in self custody, which is one of the best things
- 0:41Speaker 1: out there. We're going to have Luca nats on here
- 0:44Speaker 1: in a bit, and I want to kind of lead
- 0:46Speaker 1: off with some of the amazing data that I think
- 0:49Speaker 1: is out there around the Pudgy Penguin brand. This is
- 0:52Speaker 1: a pretty big deal. And this is the fact that
- 0:54Speaker 1: Pudgie Penguins now has fifty five billion views on giffee.
- 0:58Speaker 1: This is comparison to Disney, which is like twenty one
- 1:02Speaker 1: billion views. That is a huge difference in terms of
- 1:06Speaker 1: brand might out there and recognition. And if you look
- 1:10Speaker 1: at the abstract chain continuing to climb here, of course,
- 1:13Speaker 1: that being what Pudgy is is all integrated around some
- 1:18Speaker 1: of the things we're watching. Of course, if you guys
- 1:20Speaker 1: go out there, you can kind of see some of
- 1:21Speaker 1: the great memes that are starting to build on it.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Even myself, I'll tweet and do quite a bit within this.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And it's interesting because it is created kind of a
- 1:31Speaker 1: cultural phenomenon. And because of that, we wanted to bring
- 1:34Speaker 1: on Luca nets who is coming in with us today.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And of course, Luca, how are you man?
- 1:39Speaker 2: Hey, Paul, I'm happy to be here, super excited to
- 1:41Speaker 2: chat with you today.
- 1:42Speaker 1: So we're going to learn a lot. This is something
- 1:45Speaker 1: that I've caught you kind of referencing often, and that
- 1:48Speaker 1: is some At some point we're going to see pengu
- 1:51Speaker 1: Pudget Penguin's flip doge and if you look at just
- 1:54Speaker 1: some of the Google trends right now, I want to
- 1:57Speaker 1: kind of show you this in comparison, and this of
- 2:00Speaker 1: course is doge eighth and then Pudgie Penguin's right there.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Doze has been able to kind of hold its own
- 2:06Speaker 1: over the past little bit in terms of the last
- 2:10Speaker 1: bull run, which we saw right there. You can see
- 2:12Speaker 1: kind of the performance of doge coin versus ethereum. Do
- 2:16Speaker 1: you think this is the cycle that pengu goes to
- 2:19Speaker 1: town on dogecoin.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I think the idea that doge coin is going to
- 2:25Speaker 2: remain the number one mean coin from now until the
- 2:28Speaker 2: end of the time is a really bad bet to make.
- 2:32Speaker 2: First and foremost important for me to note that I
- 2:34Speaker 2: have the utmost respect and admiration for the doge coin
- 2:39Speaker 2: community and the people that have galvanized and rallied a
- 2:42Speaker 2: ballot around that token to make it what it is today.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But you understand the difference between pengu and dog is
- 2:48Speaker 2: to understand the current reality. The current reality with doge coins,
- 2:53Speaker 2: it inflates about three to four to five million dollars
- 2:55Speaker 2: a day depending on the price, and it's cultural relevancy
- 2:58Speaker 2: peaked in twenty four teen, twenty fifteen, and it's financial relevancy,
- 3:03Speaker 2: I would argue peaked in twenty twenty twenty one. And
- 3:06Speaker 2: then on the other side, you have this new underdog
- 3:09Speaker 2: Internet native, crypto native character that was conceptualized and created
- 3:14Speaker 2: out of crypto and blockchain rails that has since you know,
- 3:19Speaker 2: defied all odds over the last couple of years in
- 3:22Speaker 2: terms of creating a brand and a character that crypto
- 3:26Speaker 2: natives are proud and honor to be a part of.
- 3:29Speaker 2: When you look at the impressions that we're getting day
- 3:32Speaker 2: over day, I think right now we're averaging about eight
- 3:34Speaker 2: hundred million impressions across all social channels around the character,
- 3:38Speaker 2: whether that's the gifts, whether that's the Instagram reels, with
- 3:41Speaker 2: the YouTube content that we're making, eight hundred million views
- 3:46Speaker 2: growing ten percent month over month is a really hard
- 3:50Speaker 2: attention mechanism to be. It's also important to note that
- 3:53Speaker 2: we within the next eighteen months will be the biggest
- 3:56Speaker 2: gift character brand of all time, and so I think
- 4:00Speaker 2: that matters is because at the end of the day,
- 4:01Speaker 2: these are bem coins and gifts ares right. Elon said
- 4:05Speaker 2: this best. The person who controls the memes controls the world,
- 4:08Speaker 2: Luca Netts says, the person who controls the gifts, controls
- 4:11Speaker 2: the memes, who controls the world. Ultimately, I think you're
- 4:14Speaker 2: really making a bet not only the mimetic sentience that
- 4:17Speaker 2: is the pudgy penguins and pengu character, but you're also betting,
- 4:20Speaker 2: I think, on the operational excellence that is the team
- 4:22Speaker 2: behind it. Right, we are going to put this stuff
- 4:25Speaker 2: on the big screen on AMC theaters. We are going
- 4:28Speaker 2: to make TV shows and blockbuster games around this. We
- 4:31Speaker 2: are going to do partnerships with the world's biggest and
- 4:33Speaker 2: most prolific brands. And if you compound that over time
- 4:37Speaker 2: with the mimetic value and universal appeal of the pudgy penguin,
- 4:41Speaker 2: it's a really hard recipe to beat, not for only
- 4:43Speaker 2: for Doge, but I think for any other coin within crypto. Ultimately,
- 4:47Speaker 2: to me, tokens are attention assets, and pudgy penguins and
- 4:51Speaker 2: pengu is a black hole for attention in the space.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And that's why I think it's not if it's when
- 4:57Speaker 2: we're going to take to take the.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Throne, well, and I think you know, giving doj it's due,
- 5:03Speaker 1: obviously it was done in a period in time in which,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know, we didn't really have the whole meme concept
- 5:08Speaker 1: really dialed in like we do now and this transcendence
- 5:12Speaker 1: that you guys have been able to achieve. Agreeing with
- 5:15Speaker 1: you in the sense that there's so much more blue
- 5:18Speaker 1: sky opportunity for you guys, for sure, So good to
- 5:21Speaker 1: see that. Speaking of that, one of the meme masters
- 5:24Speaker 1: that has been out there forever is of course Kanye.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Of course he launches this not necessarily very sophisticated, definitely
- 5:31Speaker 1: not Lucannett's style, even on the launch video. You know,
- 5:35Speaker 1: it's the typical Kanye kind of concept. But I'm kind
- 5:37Speaker 1: of curious do these kinds of moves from major celebrities
- 5:41Speaker 1: have a chance to take any air out of the
- 5:44Speaker 1: sales of something like what pengu has been able to do.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I think for a day or two they've proven that
- 5:51Speaker 2: they can. I mean, one of the great you know,
- 5:54Speaker 2: blessings and felt like curses of the time, but Blessings
- 5:56Speaker 2: was Pengu's ninety percent draw down that was part in
- 5:59Speaker 2: Duke because of the Trump Milenia Libra liquid black hole
- 6:03Speaker 2: trifecta paired with tariff nonsense. That stuff ultimately at the
- 6:08Speaker 2: end of the day, I welcome red candles when they
- 6:10Speaker 2: come because red candles creates community and you need to
- 6:13Speaker 2: have those moments to take the next leg up. And
- 6:16Speaker 2: so I don't think it has any room to take
- 6:19Speaker 2: any long term or mid term sale a wind out
- 6:22Speaker 2: of any of our sales anybody that I think is
- 6:24Speaker 2: building great character products or just great protocols in general
- 6:29Speaker 2: within the space. I do think it was a huge
- 6:30Speaker 2: missed opportunity for Kanye to do something really special, really creative,
- 6:35Speaker 2: really innovative, and instead he took the layman's path on
- 6:39Speaker 2: what he could out and execute it on it. So
- 6:41Speaker 2: I'm more sad and disappointed for the direction they went
- 6:44Speaker 2: instead of doing something I think really prolific and really iconic,
- 6:48Speaker 2: which I think he had the opportunity to do.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You think there is kind of a transition in whether
- 6:52Speaker 1: or not mainstream brand builders actually get this.
- 6:56Speaker 2: To not get this and to not participate, I think
- 7:00Speaker 2: in this new era of tokenization is going to be
- 7:03Speaker 2: a fatal mistake, both for the entrepreneur and more importantly
- 7:08Speaker 2: for their community. You know, as an entrepreneur, you're a
- 7:10Speaker 2: custodian of your community, and the way that I've always
- 7:14Speaker 2: looked at it, at least at Pudgy is I'm kind
- 7:15Speaker 2: of the muscle to the high mind that is this
- 7:18Speaker 2: community that powers this ecosystem. I think when you look
- 7:22Speaker 2: at what it means to financially align your early believers
- 7:25Speaker 2: to participate in the upside and the success of your
- 7:28Speaker 2: character and your business is nothing but a net positive.
- 7:32Speaker 2: The way that I've framed it for the last couple
- 7:33Speaker 2: of years, it's either your greatest kryptonite or your or
- 7:36Speaker 2: your most powerful rocket fuel. And so it does take
- 7:39Speaker 2: a certain personality type I think to harness this power.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I think some people are just naturally not built to
- 7:45Speaker 2: go and lead with transparency and to be community first.
- 7:50Speaker 2: And I think those entrepreneurs will stay in Web two.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But I think the upside and the potential and the
- 7:56Speaker 2: escape velocity that you can hit, you know, by averaging
- 8:00Speaker 2: Web three rails is bar none. And look at Pudgie
- 8:03Speaker 2: Penguins as an example. I mean, two years ago we
- 8:05Speaker 2: showed up in Quarter four in three thousand palletts across
- 8:09Speaker 2: Walmart as our first ever retail activation. How is that possible? Right?
- 8:15Speaker 2: You know, a brand as young as Pudgy doesn't go
- 8:19Speaker 2: in and capture the most prized real estate and the
- 8:23Speaker 2: most important and biggest retailer in the world with basically
- 8:26Speaker 2: eighteen months of being conceptualized and interception, and it got
- 8:31Speaker 2: that opportunity because of the force of nature that is
- 8:34Speaker 2: the community, and that community becomes a force of nature
- 8:37Speaker 2: because they're financially incentivized to do so. And so it's
- 8:41Speaker 2: a huge, huge component I think to our success and
- 8:45Speaker 2: one that I think a lot of entrepreneurs in the
- 8:47Speaker 2: future are going to be utilizing.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So okay, So I think that's a really good point
- 8:50Speaker 1: and kind of segues into this next question, and that is,
- 8:53Speaker 1: do you look at brands that are Web two I
- 8:56Speaker 1: would say, the leading culture brand out there right now
- 9:00Speaker 1: Lea Boo boo. You look at how they've been able.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You know, I've got a young daughter, she's all over
- 9:04Speaker 1: this right now, and you look at the kind of
- 9:07Speaker 1: comparison This isn't comparison to ethereum and a tension economy.
- 9:12Speaker 1: What we've been able to see. My question is do
- 9:14Speaker 1: you think that something like a Lebubu could actually launch
- 9:18Speaker 1: a token and possibly steal some sale again from someone
- 9:23Speaker 1: like or from someone like you guys at Pudgie Penguins, I.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Think the real competitors, who's going to come out of
- 9:28Speaker 2: Web three and compete with us? I think I would
- 9:31Speaker 2: see a lot more. Seriously, again, short term liquidity black
- 9:34Speaker 2: holes are short term liquidity black holes. There's only so
- 9:36Speaker 2: much liquidity and crypto. It's not you know, traditional finance
- 9:39Speaker 2: just yet and so you know liquidity is a thing.
- 9:42Speaker 2: But in the medium to long term there is a
- 9:46Speaker 2: cachet and a rapport that Pudgy has built within the
- 9:49Speaker 2: space around it being cryptonative. It's two different approaches. I
- 9:53Speaker 2: think from taking somebody and taking something and bringing it
- 9:56Speaker 2: to Web three versus bringing it growing it roots with
- 10:01Speaker 2: the community, by the community, for the people, by the
- 10:03Speaker 2: people for years in a native landscape, and then hitting
- 10:08Speaker 2: escape velocity versus having something who hits escape velocity and
- 10:12Speaker 2: goes and tries to monetize that escape velocity by coming
- 10:15Speaker 2: into crypto. I think one is pure and true to
- 10:19Speaker 2: the DNA that is cryptocurrency, and I think one is
- 10:22Speaker 2: more of a grift. And I believe that the users
- 10:24Speaker 2: and I'm so proud of all of the users over
- 10:26Speaker 2: the last couple of years, and you see this even
- 10:28Speaker 2: with the easy token, right, I think a lot of
- 10:30Speaker 2: people would have expected it to go a lot higher,
- 10:32Speaker 2: but the users are getting so much more sophisticated and
- 10:36Speaker 2: so much smarter, and sure there might be an opportunity
- 10:39Speaker 2: for a day or a week or two, but I
- 10:41Speaker 2: think everybody ends up always rotating back to who's been
- 10:45Speaker 2: doing it the right way, who's been leading by example,
- 10:48Speaker 2: who's been putting the space on its back at least
- 10:51Speaker 2: in our respect from a cultural and a medic and
- 10:53Speaker 2: a n FT perspective. And I think we've always kind
- 10:55Speaker 2: of been the profit rotation group where you might go
- 10:59Speaker 2: and leave for a day or a week or two,
- 11:01Speaker 2: but you always bring your profits back.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Home, which is true. I'm in agreement with you. I've
- 11:06Speaker 1: talked about this a lot with major Web two brands
- 11:09Speaker 1: that even we consult with, and they're trying to bridge
- 11:12Speaker 1: this gap over to Web three and they struggle. You know,
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's to your point, that narrative of complete transparency with
- 11:19Speaker 1: your community you're dead on, and they just won't do it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: It's like the last thing they will let go of.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So it is a challenge. I think that we're going
- 11:26Speaker 1: to see. I think we're going to see a whole
- 11:28Speaker 1: new cottage industry of web three brands like yourself that
- 11:31Speaker 1: really kind of take it forward from here speaking of
- 11:33Speaker 1: some of the things that are advancing in terms of
- 11:36Speaker 1: tech and what's happening out there. Phantom. Everybody's been asking
- 11:40Speaker 1: for Abstract on Phantom. Any news out there in terms
- 11:43Speaker 1: of Phantom getting Abstract launched.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I'll just an interview with Brandon, who's the CEO of Phantom.
- 11:50Speaker 2: We've been working on it for a while, so I'll
- 11:51Speaker 2: send them this clip.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But that's good to hear. What do you think about
- 11:56Speaker 1: Phantom launching a stable coin? Do you think this would
- 11:59Speaker 1: be a big deal with what we're seeing in terms
- 12:02Speaker 1: of just the stable coin narrative in general.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Big deal for sure, big deal for Phantom and Phantom
- 12:08Speaker 2: stakeholders most important, probably the biggest deal for them. Big
- 12:12Speaker 2: deal for the sea though. I mean, we finally are
- 12:15Speaker 2: on the precipice of escape mass market velocity. Here your friends,
- 12:20Speaker 2: your family members, your colleagues sending you payments. Instead of
- 12:25Speaker 2: sending you a cash app, they're sending you a stable
- 12:27Speaker 2: coin transfer. It's coming after ten, ten, fifteen years of this,
- 12:31Speaker 2: so it's beautiful to see.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And if you look at the success meta Mask have
- 12:35Speaker 1: of course on their stable cooin lunch. I think this
- 12:38Speaker 1: will show case that maybe some of these wallets could
- 12:42Speaker 1: get pretty effective in doing this. So I'm kind of
- 12:45Speaker 1: anticipating that Phantom might actually get there. And because of that,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you look at the centralized exchanges that are out there.
- 12:53Speaker 1: What is your opinion right now on things like Coinbase?
- 12:56Speaker 1: This was Jackie. She kind of hit on this right here.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Phantom and moonshe change the game forever. We're talking about
- 13:03Speaker 1: big centralized exchanges like finance, coinbased, etc. Now those are
- 13:08Speaker 1: more off ramps rather than actually the engagement point for
- 13:12Speaker 1: crypto in the future. You think that is going to
- 13:14Speaker 1: be the case.
- 13:15Speaker 2: The interview did yesterday with Brandon Miller and Laura Shin,
- 13:19Speaker 2: who's the CEO Fantom. He did an interesting point which
- 13:22Speaker 2: I totally agree with that I think your audience this
- 13:23Speaker 2: is a great perspective for your audience because I agree
- 13:25Speaker 2: with it too. Coinbase is going to be like the
- 13:27Speaker 2: JP Morgan for crypto, right, They're not going to be
- 13:31Speaker 2: the robin Hood for crypto. They're not great product builders,
- 13:35Speaker 2: they're great deal makers. They have a great and trusted brand,
- 13:39Speaker 2: the most trusted brand in the US from a crypto
- 13:42Speaker 2: perspective bar none, right, And I think they're more of
- 13:45Speaker 2: an institutional player than they are focused on innovating on
- 13:49Speaker 2: the next great consumer, forward facing consumer applications. So I
- 13:53Speaker 2: think you're going to see the innovation come from the
- 13:56Speaker 2: fantoms and the moonshots and all of these young and
- 13:58Speaker 2: hungry entrepreneurs. And I think you're going to see Coinbase
- 14:01Speaker 2: act exactly like what that tweet said, like a bank, right,
- 14:04Speaker 2: and you're just going to come in and out via Coinbase,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and you're going to do you know, everything else I
- 14:09Speaker 2: think elsewhere.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in agreement with that. It's interesting to see
- 14:12Speaker 1: kind of the cycle shifting right now because obviously DeFi
- 14:15Speaker 1: is going to play a role of this self custody
- 14:17Speaker 1: is playing a role. It's huge. Let's talk about the
- 14:21Speaker 1: breakout platforms of Web three. This was an interesting statement
- 14:25Speaker 1: right there, Polymarket and Courtyard. I don't know if everybody
- 14:29Speaker 1: agrees with that. I'm sure you would say you might
- 14:30Speaker 1: be a breakout brand. But what other breakout concepts have
- 14:34Speaker 1: come out of Web three so far?
- 14:35Speaker 2: I mean I would have put Polymarket, pump Fun, and
- 14:39Speaker 2: Pudgy Penguins as I think the three great breakouts of
- 14:42Speaker 2: the last year. Courtyard's a funny one on its face.
- 14:44Speaker 2: From what I've heard, it should definitely be up there.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I need to fact check it, though. I'm a little skeptical.
- 14:52Speaker 2: So it's interesting right now, but I need to I
- 14:55Speaker 2: need to see it. I can believe it, but I'm
- 14:58Speaker 2: a little skeptical. So if anyone from Courtyard wants to
- 15:00Speaker 2: give me a peek under the hood, I would love to.
- 15:03Speaker 2: But I actually think it's the three p's. It's funny.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I didn't even notice that until I said it. But
- 15:06Speaker 2: pump fun, poly market and pudgy penguins. I think these
- 15:10Speaker 2: have been the biggest wins of the last couple of years,
- 15:12Speaker 2: both from in a mass market perspective. Matter anyways, you
- 15:15Speaker 2: skin the cat. I think those are the three big
- 15:17Speaker 2: wins of the last two years in crypto.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Do you think we are in a place right now
- 15:21Speaker 1: where we're going to see a lot more?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Totally? I think again, I think we're on the precipice
- 15:25Speaker 2: of something great. You're gonna see it. It's here, And
- 15:28Speaker 2: you know, Crypto has always done something for you know,
- 15:31Speaker 2: retail consumers in a way that I think even stocks
- 15:34Speaker 2: couldn't do. You know, at the end of the day
- 15:36Speaker 2: with trad fi, like you can't go buy a million
- 15:38Speaker 2: dollar you know, coin that's going to be worth a
- 15:41Speaker 2: billion dollar or a million dollar stock that's gonna be
- 15:43Speaker 2: worth a billion dollars in three months. Like crypto is
- 15:45Speaker 2: still the place of opportunity there, right, you see it
- 15:48Speaker 2: every couple of months, there's a thing you could have
- 15:50Speaker 2: bought it a million dollar market cap and ends up
- 15:52Speaker 2: being worth five hundred million. And that's a swing and
- 15:55Speaker 2: a trade that just trad fi for good reason, right,
- 15:58Speaker 2: there's a reason why it doesn't open those flows gates, right,
- 16:01Speaker 2: consumer protections. But at the end of the day, people
- 16:04Speaker 2: are smart enough to make their own decisions. You know,
- 16:06Speaker 2: I don't blame anybody for a bad trade that I make.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I hope anybody listening doesn't either, right, And so we
- 16:12Speaker 2: all have the wherewithal and understanding that when we go
- 16:14Speaker 2: and buy something, you know we are responsible for it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: But you know that that there's there's just a trade
- 16:20Speaker 2: in crypto to be made, and an opportunity in crypto
- 16:23Speaker 2: to be made that isn't any isn't available anywhere else
- 16:25Speaker 2: in the world.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Hey, I want to jump over to death to fun
- 16:29Speaker 1: and this of course being one of the top projects
- 16:32Speaker 1: on Abstract. I want to play a clip for you
- 16:35Speaker 1: and then get your opinion. After this, maybe you can
- 16:37Speaker 1: explain why you think that is happening. Let's go to
- 16:39Speaker 1: that clip.
- 16:43Speaker 3: To make money or die trying play now on death
- 16:50Speaker 3: dot fun.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I spent one hundred dollars on scratchers and one hundred
- 16:54Speaker 4: dollars on online gambling. Which is more profitable. Let's find out.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Oh my god, and we are off on death fund.
- 17:03Speaker 4: The objective of the game is to avoid the death tile.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Each row has a death tile. The further along you get,
- 17:09Speaker 4: the more you multiply your money. But if you hit
- 17:11Speaker 4: a death tile, you lose everything, just like that final
- 17:14Speaker 4: score one two Yeah called safe cash.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Out No, absolutely not fucking send it all right, we
- 17:23Speaker 2: lost all I know? Yeah, all right, top winners on
- 17:28Speaker 2: top fuck you. Oh my freaking god, look at that
- 17:33Speaker 2: baby now you fulick?
- 17:38Speaker 1: If anything, this guy has the best dance moves I've
- 17:41Speaker 1: seen in a while. So the whole point behind this
- 17:44Speaker 1: is it really puts risk level gambling in the gaming.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Do you feel like that's the reason that this is
- 17:50Speaker 1: so successful.
- 17:51Speaker 2: There's a new innovative category of applications that are coming
- 17:55Speaker 2: out which are hyper financialized games. And hyper financialized gaming
- 18:02Speaker 2: is a very interesting category because it's not like a
- 18:06Speaker 2: slot like a casino, right, But there's an element and
- 18:11Speaker 2: the truth that like you are gambling. When you're doing
- 18:13Speaker 2: Death dot Fund, you are gambling, but doesn't feel like gambling.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It feels like I'm playing a game, right, And there's
- 18:20Speaker 2: a huge market opportunity in market segment for this, and
- 18:23Speaker 2: subsequently our chain has become the home of this in crypto.
- 18:26Speaker 2: So if anybody wants to go and play hyper financialized games,
- 18:30Speaker 2: I mean, anyone who's crypto native will tell you the
- 18:33Speaker 2: best place to go do that is. I'm abstract and
- 18:35Speaker 2: I'm really excited to help curate what I think this
- 18:38Speaker 2: future is. And I think Death dot Fund one incredible entrepreneurs, Two,
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm an investor, and three you know, these guys are
- 18:46Speaker 2: going to build I think a slew of these type
- 18:49Speaker 2: of games that I think are going to yield a
- 18:51Speaker 2: lot of future potential.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Do you think that we're seeing this cycle of much
- 18:56Speaker 1: more minimalistic games now as opposed to you know, videos
- 19:00Speaker 1: going out there and just building these behemoths trying to
- 19:03Speaker 1: launch take forever to release, something. What do you think
- 19:06Speaker 1: about how gaming is evolving right now?
- 19:09Speaker 2: I think it's going exactly to this point. I think
- 19:11Speaker 2: it's it's how do you take you know, fun game
- 19:15Speaker 2: loops and financialize them and that and that's so much
- 19:18Speaker 2: more advantageous. A game developer can spend a million, two million,
- 19:21Speaker 2: three million bucks, you know, making one of these loops,
- 19:24Speaker 2: and they can make more than a fifty million dollar production,
- 19:27Speaker 2: right And this is really I think going to be
- 19:29Speaker 2: the PMF for crypto gaming is just fun, simple, stupid.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Hyper financialized games.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, hyper financialized. I have not heard that term before.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Now I'm going to start watching for that out there.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about games Com because there's
- 19:43Speaker 1: a lot going on out there right now. Xbox did
- 19:47Speaker 1: a launch on their new mobile device. I want to
- 19:49Speaker 1: play a clip because this and I want to get
- 19:51Speaker 1: your opinion on this, because I think this is interesting
- 19:53Speaker 1: going forward. Let's cut to that clip.
- 19:55Speaker 2: This is going to be awesome.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Now we literally have a device that could go with
- 19:59Speaker 1: you everywhere. We think about having this unified game library.
- 20:04Speaker 5: Any recently downloaded and played games from other PC game stores,
- 20:07Speaker 5: from Battlenet, the Epic Game Store, you'd be soft Steam,
- 20:10Speaker 5: gog or EA. The Xbox app automatically finds them and
- 20:14Speaker 5: will show them in your game library.
- 20:15Speaker 6: And so you can push that and I'll take you
- 20:17Speaker 6: right to your library. You'll see these new indicators across
- 20:21Speaker 6: the thing. So, hey, these are my games from the
- 20:22Speaker 6: game pass entitlement. These are the ones installed from other storefronts.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 20:28Speaker 6: By pressing it, you quickly bring up game bar. It
- 20:30Speaker 6: puts it in a more streamlined, optimized form for these handheld.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Devices, very fluid and really nice.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Yeah, So by long pressing on the Xbox button, you'll
- 20:38Speaker 6: get this new experience where you can quickly bumper between
- 20:41Speaker 6: existing applications as well as go to the Windows desktop
- 20:44Speaker 6: if you need to kind of tweak something that you
- 20:47Speaker 6: can't do easily using discord or getting a little hint
- 20:51Speaker 6: and edge. You can quickly bumper between them and then
- 20:53Speaker 6: go back to your game.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Really extremely so you I absolutely love it.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm excited to share that the Xbox Ally and
- 21:01Speaker 6: the Xbox Ali X will be available worldwide October sixteenth.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Oh so soon. All right, well you heard it hit
- 21:08Speaker 1: fust Man going head to head. Now we're seeing everything
- 21:11Speaker 1: from Sony Xbox of course fighting in for some share
- 21:14Speaker 1: there with Ally. Do you think mobile, I mean hand
- 21:17Speaker 1: especially handheld game? Do you think we are at that point?
- 21:19Speaker 5: Now?
- 21:19Speaker 1: It's this? Is it escape Velocity?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Escape Velocity for sure?
- 21:23Speaker 1: What about abstract? Do you think we could see some
- 21:25Speaker 1: games coming on over to the ALLY handheld?
- 21:29Speaker 2: I'm I haven't thought Allied. I've actually thought Nintendo Switch.
- 21:32Speaker 2: So we have an in house game that we are
- 21:34Speaker 2: making and we're trying to get it on the Switch.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Now that's the alpha.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I like it. Okay, So with that,
- 21:41Speaker 1: then you've got issues now with new interface devices. Have
- 21:45Speaker 1: you seen the x real glasses? Have you followed this much?
- 21:49Speaker 2: I have? Okay, all right, so I have video on Instagram.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Okay, let me play a clip for you, and then
- 21:53Speaker 1: I want to get your opinion on this. Let's go
- 21:55Speaker 1: to that one.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Let me tell you this is the closest to Tony
- 21:58Speaker 3: Stark glasses as it gets plug into any USBC device
- 22:02Speaker 3: and give you a massive virtual screen. Love using them
- 22:05Speaker 3: on the plane. And now they have a new auto
- 22:07Speaker 3: transparency mode.
- 22:08Speaker 7: They'll automatically undim with that electrochromic dimming so that you
- 22:12Speaker 7: can see your surroundings.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Add six degrees of freedom.
- 22:15Speaker 2: That means your virtual.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Screen isn't just floating with your head, it's actually locked
- 22:18Speaker 3: in space like a real monitor.
- 22:20Speaker 7: X Reel has a pretty crazy trading deal going on
- 22:23Speaker 7: right now, Like legit. You can go to the dollar
- 22:25Speaker 7: store get a dollar pair of sunglasses and those will
- 22:28Speaker 7: count for the trading either.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Hands down the best wearable dislay glasses right now.
- 22:44Speaker 1: AR, what's your opinion on it? Are we at an
- 22:46Speaker 1: unlocked phase or is this just going to be a fad?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah? I think I think VR is a fad. I
- 22:50Speaker 2: think AR is real. I think ARS is the real deal.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I think VR is twenty five years out. I think
- 22:57Speaker 2: AR is here, right here, right now and goes to
- 23:00Speaker 2: see who wins that race.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It's interesting because we've been tracking this along with some others,
- 23:05Speaker 1: and I think it's going to be fun. I got
- 23:06Speaker 1: to ask you though, right now, top Beta meme coins,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I'm looking at the list right there on abstract anything
- 23:12Speaker 1: in there I need to be buying today.
- 23:15Speaker 2: A huge supporter of Newton Archer. He got a bad
- 23:18Speaker 2: beat recently, but he really is building. I think the
- 23:21Speaker 2: bonk of the ecosystem. A huge fan of just the
- 23:25Speaker 2: apster community. Love the love the Big the Big Coin CTO.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean, these guys really are hitting out of the park.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I mean, I thought big Coin was such an amazing product,
- 23:37Speaker 2: the vision was so incredible, and then you know, it
- 23:40Speaker 2: really was like one or two guys and they handed
- 23:42Speaker 2: it off to Bardy Lawn and the rest of his crew,
- 23:46Speaker 2: And these guys are doing phenomenal work. And this thing
- 23:50Speaker 2: is I think has the potential if they pushed and
- 23:52Speaker 2: actually pull off merged mining, I think has the opportunity
- 23:56Speaker 2: to be one of the biggest things on the chain
- 23:59Speaker 2: and honestly one of the biggest things in crypto. I
- 24:02Speaker 2: think really bringing proof of work to launch pads is
- 24:06Speaker 2: a fascinating, fascinating case study. And everybody who can pull
- 24:11Speaker 2: it off and can actually like create a true fear
- 24:14Speaker 2: launch mechanism leveraging proof of work and these virtual miners,
- 24:20Speaker 2: it's a multi billion dollar opportunity and they're showing competency
- 24:23Speaker 2: that they can actually potentially pull it off. Obviously, you
- 24:27Speaker 2: know it's going to take a lot of hard work
- 24:28Speaker 2: and a lot of tenacity and a lot of making
- 24:30Speaker 2: the right decisions and maybe a little bit of luck
- 24:33Speaker 2: sprinkled in there. But I'm a huge supporter of that idea,
- 24:38Speaker 2: and these guys have taken it over and shown shown
- 24:40Speaker 2: a huge level of competency that's been super impressive.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Well, and what we're seeing now is memes starting to
- 24:46Speaker 1: create real I won't call it use case, but there's
- 24:49Speaker 1: functions that they're going beyond the idea of just memes.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's kind of like where really where Bengo started.
- 24:55Speaker 2: This idea that you think a non sentient, stagnant meme
- 24:59Speaker 2: can compete with a sentient progressive ever green. You know,
- 25:04Speaker 2: mimetic character is just a complete fallacy. I think you'll
- 25:08Speaker 2: always see those things go from zero to two hundred million,
- 25:12Speaker 2: and you know you'll see instances, right, But something that
- 25:16Speaker 2: you can actually be comfortable holding long term that's going
- 25:19Speaker 2: to run and hit escape velocity in the form of
- 25:22Speaker 2: tens of billions. I don't think it's going to be
- 25:24Speaker 2: these stagnant you know, you know narratives and prophecies that
- 25:30Speaker 2: people just regurgitate because they have bag bias and they
- 25:34Speaker 2: want it. I think you're already seeing this. I mean,
- 25:36Speaker 2: what are the two biggest net new mean coins of
- 25:39Speaker 2: this cycle. It's Bonk and Penguin, right, Like, we're the
- 25:42Speaker 2: two biggest. We are the two most productive mean coins
- 25:45Speaker 2: by a Texas mile, right, Like, nothing comes close in
- 25:48Speaker 2: terms of pushing the space forward than our two organizations,
- 25:52Speaker 2: and we are the two biggest net new mean coins.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I think that trend will continue, right. I don't think
- 25:58Speaker 2: that trend will fade. I will I I there will
- 26:01Speaker 2: always be opportunity for stagnant you know, moments and time
- 26:06Speaker 2: that come out of the woodworks that people you know
- 26:09Speaker 2: pile into that has a lot of virality, right, But
- 26:12Speaker 2: those things will be here one day and gone the
- 26:14Speaker 2: next week.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I think the compounded returns are going to be in
- 26:20Speaker 2: the in the organizations that treat meme coins like like
- 26:26Speaker 2: like true vehicles to proliferate and to progress and to
- 26:31Speaker 2: move crypto forward versus you know, stagnant, stagnant, nonsenient assets.
- 26:37Speaker 2: So I think you're already seeing this. I think you'll
- 26:40Speaker 2: continue to see it. And it's a trend that I
- 26:42Speaker 2: think is only good for crypto. It's only going to
- 26:45Speaker 2: bring more users in and it's only going to add
- 26:47Speaker 2: credibility to a mean coin space that frankly is lacking
- 26:51Speaker 2: a lot of it. And I think a huge goal
- 26:53Speaker 2: for us at pudget. Penguin's pengu is to bring credibility
- 26:56Speaker 2: and bring realness to memes so that when people look
- 26:59Speaker 2: at it, they don't just question and kind of bock
- 27:01Speaker 2: at the idea that these things are worth billions and
- 27:03Speaker 2: they do nothing when you see Pudgy Penguins in its valuation,
- 27:08Speaker 2: you know, I think a lot of people are proud
- 27:10Speaker 2: of what we've done for the space, and they understand it.
- 27:12Speaker 2: They are in ten thousand retailers, they are in Walmart
- 27:15Speaker 2: and Target, They're doing games and movies and TV shows
- 27:18Speaker 2: and Blockbuster partnerships. Okay, this warrants this valuation versus I
- 27:23Speaker 2: think the incumbents that you've seen prior to us, you know,
- 27:26Speaker 2: what made these things worth ten billion or fifteen or
- 27:29Speaker 2: twenty billion dollars in the first place. You can't really
- 27:32Speaker 2: point too much, right, I think in Pudgy's case, everyone
- 27:35Speaker 2: wants to see it be worth that because of what
- 27:37Speaker 2: I think it brings to the space.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Well, and really it's really a new evolution of the
- 27:42Speaker 1: entrepreneurial model of doing startups. You know, it's just you're
- 27:46Speaker 1: using a meme, you know, platform to kind of launch
- 27:48Speaker 1: a brand, and then the brand of course reverts back
- 27:51Speaker 1: to the meme community and it becomes a flywheel, you
- 27:53Speaker 1: know of just explosion in terms of opportunity, So kudos
- 27:57Speaker 1: to you.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Hey.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Last point I want to get at, which is going
- 27:59Speaker 1: to I think another trend going, and that of course
- 28:02Speaker 1: is going to be streaming within abstract. When is this
- 28:05Speaker 1: going to go live to where other guys can get
- 28:06Speaker 1: out there like us?
- 28:08Speaker 2: You can if you want to apply you I'll make
- 28:11Speaker 2: sure you're accepted. I think the only reason why we
- 28:14Speaker 2: haven't opened it up is we just haven't made a
- 28:16Speaker 2: monetization flywheel on the streaming. And if I open up
- 28:20Speaker 2: streaming for everybody, it is so incredibly expensive. It's not
- 28:23Speaker 2: a good business, right, No, got a gatekeep so it
- 28:27Speaker 2: doesn't get out of it, so it doesn't get out
- 28:29Speaker 2: of hand just because it can get so expensive so quick.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. Hey, Luka, it's been great having you
- 28:34Speaker 1: on today. Lots of good stuff here. We had some
- 28:36Speaker 1: alpha coming in, so thanks again for coming in. We
- 28:38Speaker 1: appreciate it.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Thanks for having me, Paul, you bet see.
- 28:40Speaker 1: You later, are you guys? If you're not in our
- 28:42Speaker 1: diamond circle, get in on that right now. It's our
- 28:44Speaker 1: own private group. We send out a quick note to
- 28:47Speaker 1: you guys on new research, a lot of new insights
- 28:49Speaker 1: of what we're doing here on the channel. And of
- 28:51Speaker 1: course if you're not following me on X do that,
- 28:52Speaker 1: it's just at Paul Baron. We'll catch you next time
- 28:54Speaker 1: right here on The Paul Baron Show.
