- 0:28Nope, you're muted. OK, like I thought I swore I
- 0:36clicked that. Welcome everyone, welcome to the
- 0:39Dis Pod. We do this live because we do it
- 0:41for you. You can listen to us on the
- 0:44replay anytime. You can listen and watch on the
- 0:47YouTube Music app. You can watch right here on its
- 0:50own channel, the Dis Pod as well as you can listen.
- 0:55You still can't view on any of those, I'm pretty sure, right on
- 0:59those other platforms like Spotify, Apple.
- 1:03Ah, see, I why did I think that then?
- 1:05So yeah, so Spotify has videos you can watch or listen, you
- 1:09know, iHeartRadio, Apple and I do this all the time, but I
- 1:15sometimes I forget, usually get on a good role.
- 1:18Amazon, iHeartRadio, Spotify. And.
- 1:23Apple and maybe I got them all. OK, cool.
- 1:26All right. So you did not wear that shirt
- 1:30last time. So there you go.
- 1:31I don't know. You had it.
- 1:31Yeah, that's right. You didn't you?
- 1:33I don't know. I don't even know if I've ever
- 1:34seen that one. I like that button down.
- 1:36I went with my Baymax, but also have the Walt Disney T-shirt
- 1:41with the Walt Disney font, Disney World font with the
- 1:45Mickey Christmas lights, which is one of my favorites.
- 1:48And yeah, there it is. How's everything going?
- 1:53Good, good, good, good. Yes, I this one Catherine made.
- 1:57So this is this is an original. Very nice.
- 2:03I like it. Thanks.
- 2:04I like it. I like how it has an ugly
- 2:07Christmas sweater in the pattern.
- 2:11Yes, very nice. I mean, we can't wear ugly
- 2:14sweaters here much in Florida unless we get some, you know,
- 2:18chilly night. Although tonight Tammy is
- 2:20wearing long pants because there's a slight chill in the
- 2:24air outside, just enough to get your attention.
- 2:26I know it'll be like tomorrow on the parks, but I'll have to
- 2:29look. I think it's going to be OK, but
- 2:32I don't know. Those lower 60s have been
- 2:34getting our getting our attention.
- 2:35We were out there Saturday night, and I don't know if it
- 2:38dipped into the high 50s, I can't remember, but it was rainy
- 2:43and miserable. Yeah.
- 2:44And it certainly caught our attention.
- 2:47Yeah. What a miserable, what a
- 2:49miserable day. Listen, we had fun.
- 2:51Besides the fun we had, we had a lot of fun on Saturday, don't
- 2:56get that wrong. But just weather wise, it was
- 3:00like it rained from start to finish and it was chilly.
- 3:04Yeah, those. But we make the best those.
- 3:06Are not fun. In fact, the other night there
- 3:10was a Christmas party and it rained like Thunder and
- 3:16lightning. So much so that people opened up
- 3:20their Disney app and they had been issued A1 day park hopper
- 3:28ticket if they had bought a ticket to the party automatic.
- 3:34Oh wow, yeah, kudos to Disney for doing that.
- 3:38Yeah, you can't. You can't please everybody.
- 3:40Though I guess if you're a pass holder that doesn't help you at
- 3:43all. Yeah, so for a lot of them they
- 3:46were just getting refunded that the ticket because of that
- 3:49essentially they couldn't do anything with the party.
- 3:52The parade was cancelled, the show was cancelled, fires were
- 3:55cancelled. So you know the majority of the
- 3:58show or the the party was non existent so they issued refunds
- 4:06so it was good. Do you think, do you think they
- 4:09just didn't give people another chance to go to another party
- 4:13because the other parties are sold out or?
- 4:16Yeah, I mean they're they are slammed up against it.
- 4:19Now you've got the 14th and the 16th and I think two more after
- 4:25that if I'm if I remember correctly.
- 4:28But they're all sold out. So you weren't going to take an
- 4:31entire parties worth of guests and put them into what was left.
- 4:37It just wasn't wasn't enough tickets available.
- 4:41Makes sense then. I was reading on another or not
- 4:47reading. I was watching another show and
- 4:49they said that there are less people going to Epic than there
- 5:00are at A at a Christmas party right now at Magic per day.
- 5:06Whoa, how about that? You know, I, I didn't, I
- 5:09couldn't verify that, but that's what they're saying like the,
- 5:13the attendance is being throttled so much at Epic that
- 5:17it's, it's that far down. So that's kind of interesting.
- 5:23When are they going to give in and just give us annual passes?
- 5:31I don't know if that fixes their problem, but they'll have more
- 5:33attendance, will spend money on food and merchandise.
- 5:37But I know they say tourists spend more money than annual
- 5:42pass holders do. So I yeah, I don't know if
- 5:47that's the issue. I don't know if, if I think
- 5:52they're doing it to themselves, they're they're throttling their
- 5:55own attendance, they're just not allowing but so many to be sold.
- 5:59So I think opening up an annual pass would counteract what
- 6:05they're trying to do, whatever that is, so.
- 6:08Now is that why do you do that to your own park?
- 6:11Is it that you realize that, wait a minute, our park is a
- 6:14little bit small and wait times are high with a limited amount
- 6:18of people, Do they know exactly what they're doing or are they
- 6:25kind of realizing, maybe I don't know, some shortcomings and
- 6:28things like that? I said this from day one when we
- 6:31went to Epic for a preview that this part, people were saying,
- 6:35oh, this park is so big. Where did you get that from?
- 6:37This part? That park is small.
- 6:39And if they're not at capacity now, it's going to be a
- 6:43nightmare for wait times beyond what it already is for certain
- 6:48attractions. Yeah.
- 6:50Yeah. I mean, you look at what the
- 6:52wait times are right now and they're keeping it that low.
- 6:57That's I could only imagine. I've, I've told Jacob this a few
- 7:02times. I said when we get annual
- 7:04passes, it's really going to be the mindset of, OK, what are you
- 7:08happy with doing today? OK, if we get Mario World done
- 7:12and, you know, maybe Harry Potter, we're good.
- 7:17You know, I don't think it's going to be like, let's try to
- 7:19attack, you know, as much of the park as possible, which you
- 7:22always try to do, but let's try to get it all done.
- 7:25I don't even think we'll come close to that if capacity
- 7:29increases. And what are there 11
- 7:33attractions? I think it's 11.
- 7:37Is it 11? Yeah.
- 7:39If it if it's not 11, it's it's a little less than that.
- 7:42What do you have? You like you?
- 7:43Yeah, you have. Mario World has what has Mario
- 7:47Kart has Yoshi and am I going blank on another one or is that
- 7:54it? Mario Kart?
- 7:55Oh, and Donkey Kong, so it's three.
- 7:57I mean we could just Google it fast rather than like count
- 8:00Everything but Monsters has two. Harry Potter has one, right?
- 8:08Just one. Says there are 1111 attractions.
- 8:16There are 50 experiences, they say, but that is that is you are
- 8:21taking you. See my face?
- 8:27That there's no way that you're not counting every bit of every
- 8:33little experience as an overall attraction.
- 8:38So they're saying, you know, there's 50 plus attractions,
- 8:41last experiences, that's rides, shows, shops, OK dining and
- 8:48immersive zones. So they're even counting the the
- 8:52lands. That's reaching like dining,
- 8:58dining and shopping. There's no way.
- 9:02Oh, there's, there's 17 stores. Great.
- 9:07Congratulations, that doesn't count.
- 9:11That's not an attraction. Honey, what do you want to do
- 9:14now? Let's go to the fourth store in
- 9:17a row, because that's what we like to do when we hear.
- 9:21Yeah, Excuse me. And I love Epic.
- 9:24Love it, love it. I just, I don't know, It's got
- 9:29to be bigger. They need more attractions.
- 9:32Do you think, do you think that, sorry everybody, we're going
- 9:36down this rabbit hole, but do you think that they're still
- 9:39throttling attendance? And they knew this all along?
- 9:43Like we'll just throttle it. We're going to open quick with
- 9:47what we've got, and then we'll start building more attractions
- 9:51and then we'll expand attendance.
- 9:54They need more, they need more stuff.
- 9:56They need more people eaters. Maybe they need another show or
- 9:59something like that. You know, Disney doesn't let
- 10:01certain things go. Universal doesn't let certain
- 10:03things go. A big people eater for them,
- 10:08especially when it's hot out, is Popeye and Bluto's Believe it or
- 10:11not, Dudley Do writes those eat a lot of people when it's on
- 10:17those hot summer days and take takes away from ride times.
- 10:21You know takes keeps the ride times down.
- 10:28There's, there, there's, I don't know what the answer is.
- 10:32I don't know what the answer is. I do.
- 10:34I find it so funny. Like, I can't wait to see the
- 10:372026 numbers come out because there were so many people online
- 10:45and they were mainly Disney haters probably that were like,
- 10:50Oh yeah, Magic's going down. Disney World's going to be a
- 10:56ghost town. You can look back on the show
- 11:02every episode where we talked about epic.
- 11:04And I say it so I'm blue in the face.
- 11:07If you have the most visited park, Magic Kingdom in the
- 11:12entire world, some new park, unless it's called Magic Kingdom
- 11:172, is not going to take any bit of maybe maybe attendance was
- 11:27hurting this year at Animal Kingdom, right?
- 11:30Especially with as much as Animal Kingdom has going on.
- 11:33OK, so maybe that's the park that suffered.
- 11:35Maybe it was SeaWorld. It was not Magic Kingdom.
- 11:39Magic, you are not going to put a hurting on Magic Kingdom with
- 11:43Epic Universe opening. Sorry, just not going to happen.
- 11:46It's two totally different places.
- 11:49So yeah, can't wait to see those numbers, especially when you
- 11:56find out that more people go to a Christmas party at Magic
- 12:00Kingdom than Epic Universe on a on a full day.
- 12:05That's crazy. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:08So, yeah. All right.
- 12:11So this has been our epic universe that show.
- 12:15That was the that was the epic segment.
- 12:17Now we're ready for the next thing.
- 12:21So today is December 9th, December 13th I will be in the
- 12:30parks. Be glad to be in the parks.
- 12:33Hanging out that weekend doing the Pete Mcdevitt meet up in the
- 12:37morning, then going to the parks.
- 12:42That night will be magical night of hope, and that's a great
- 12:47event that goes towards a great charity.
- 12:51You can watch that event on the multiviewdsn.excusemedsn.disneystreams.com
- 13:02and be able to donate there. So you'll be able to watch there
- 13:07while everything else is happening.
- 13:09So while we're in the parks, you'll be able to check in on
- 13:11that right on the multi view. So be sure to check that out.
- 13:15This. How did you get that?
- 13:17Who's broadcasting it? So Resort TV One will have it,
- 13:22so he's simulcasting it on his channel, so it'll be on the
- 13:26multi view. Oh, OK, 'cause Corey is showing
- 13:32it as well. So.
- 13:33Right. So, yeah.
- 13:35Yeah, I think Corey, Corey Meets World, Steve's World and Resort
- 13:39TV One are broadcasting it all at the same time.
- 13:42So since Josh is in the network, it'll be on the multi view.
- 13:49So be sure to check that out and you can donate right there.
- 13:54So very good cause a lot of us in the Disney community
- 13:58obviously support it and one of our friends of this channel and
- 14:06living Indies and member of the DSN is performing that night.
- 14:11So be sure to to check out Josh Plain as saxophone.
- 14:18So this weekend also, we will be celebrating Dick Van Dyke's
- 14:21100th birthday, which is just incredible.
- 14:29And he was performing, you know, I was watching a podcast with
- 14:36him the other day, and he was saying he's still looking for
- 14:38work. Like he does not want to stop.
- 14:41And that's probably what's kept him as young as it has.
- 14:45You know, he's just done so much.
- 14:50And there's so many, as I was doing research for this, so many
- 14:53little things that I did not know about Dick Van Dyke.
- 14:59I mean, we all know him from Mary Poppins.
- 15:03Do you, do you know of any other movies that you saw, movies or
- 15:09shows or anything that you saw that stick out to you that he's
- 15:15just that he's been in? Just Mary Poppins more than
- 15:18anything. But when I hear the name Dick
- 15:25Van Dyke, I immediately my brain just goes to his classic show,
- 15:31you know, him coming home, tripping over the, you know, the
- 15:34furniture and all that stuff. That's kind of where I go
- 15:39because I'm older, you know, So it was in reruns by the time,
- 15:42you know, when I was born. But I just kind of remember
- 15:45that, you know, when the music, I mean, is that the right music?
- 15:49That's the right music. Yeah, that's it.
- 15:53Yeah. So I was watching the podcast
- 15:56and it was actually being hosted by Ted Danson and married
- 16:01Steenburgen, his wife. And he told the story.
- 16:06Ted told the story that he did not have ATV growing up.
- 16:11He didn't have ATV until he went to college.
- 16:15And he found ATV on the street, took it inside, plugged it in,
- 16:21got some antenna from a teacher or something like that.
- 16:26And the very first thing that he saw was Dick Van Dyke tripping
- 16:31over the Ottoman. So that was his introduction to
- 16:34TV. And here he is, you know, now as
- 16:37as big as star as, you know, Ted Danson is.
- 16:40So it's just so funny to think Ted Danson was in college when
- 16:50Dick Van Dyke was tripping over the furniture on The Dick Van
- 16:53Dyke Show. And you know, we look at Ted
- 16:57Danton and he's, he's, he's older, but Dick Van Dyke is
- 17:01turning 100. Like there's so many people
- 17:04that, you know, I, I'm trying to think of some of the older,
- 17:09older, like Norman Lee or, you know, who did all the, all the
- 17:12great shows, all in the family and all that.
- 17:14He, he lived to be very, very old.
- 17:20Betty White, George Burns, probably the oldest that we know
- 17:24of in, in comedy. But you know, it's nice to see
- 17:28some of them around. And still Carol Burnett, she's
- 17:32she's up there in, in age. But how much joy have they been
- 17:37laughter have they brought to us all these years?
- 17:42It's just just amazing what they what they've done now.
- 17:44He is a Disney legend and that is well deserved because that
- 17:52movie, even Walt Disney said that it was his it, it was his
- 17:59top movie that he's ever done was Mary Poppins.
- 18:03Yeah, I have. I have heard that.
- 18:05I have heard that what now he's done more What's, what are we
- 18:11going to get to that? What is what is his resume for
- 18:15Disney? So let's talk about, and I don't
- 18:22remember this movie like I want to, I really should go and watch
- 18:25it now, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a lot of people talk about
- 18:29and I remember watching that all the time as a kid.
- 18:32Think the dreams in the chat. She might be able to help me on
- 18:34this. On the podcast, they were saying
- 18:38that it's a holiday movie and I don't remember that being a
- 18:41movie that we watched the holidays.
- 18:44So I'm not sure, but that's probably his his number 2 movie.
- 18:52He also did Bye Bye Birdie, the movie, which he did not like and
- 18:56that wasn't Disney, but he did not like the movie because he
- 19:02had done it on Broadway. And when they went to do it on
- 19:06film, he said it was terrible. And it it took out so much of
- 19:12the essence of the play that he really didn't like it.
- 19:15And yet there's so many people that love that movie, so many
- 19:20people that love that movie. So yeah, if I go back to Disney,
- 19:27he did a ton of live action movies, obviously.
- 19:33And you know, one of them was Robinson Caruso.
- 19:38He did the Robinson Caruso movie.
- 19:42Never a dull moment. He did Dick Van Dyke and the
- 19:46Fantasticks. That was ATV special and then a
- 19:50ton of Disney events and celebrations.
- 19:53But it, you know, the one big movie obviously was Mary
- 19:59Poppins. And you know, it wasn't like he
- 20:05was in 30 Disney movies, right? It, it was, it was really Mary
- 20:12Poppins, but it stuck out and it was so.
- 20:17Memorable that he ends up becoming a, you know, Disney
- 20:20Legend because of it. So then he goes on and he does
- 20:27Mary Poppins 2 at the age of 93. And so I'm going to show a
- 20:34little clip on that here, all right?
- 20:46Now, how incredible that he was so generous and just jumped,
- 20:50jumped at the chance to be in it.
- 20:52And, and he is such a joy and I mean, so charismatic and I think
- 20:59people were very emotional that entire day that he was on.
- 21:02There was sort of like a lot of ugly crying that went on.
- 21:05But when he started tap dancing on the desk, I was like, forget
- 21:08it, forget it. That was the joy of my life.
- 21:19I mean, he means so much to me personally.
- 21:22You know, he was my hero. Watching him and Chitty Bang
- 21:26Bang and Bye Bye Birdie and the Dick Van Dyke show, everything,
- 21:30you know, I just, he just was extraordinary.
- 21:33He's just magical. And, you know, he grabbed my
- 21:36hand as we walked onto the set first time, and he turned to me
- 21:38and he said, literally, I feel the same spirit here as I did on
- 21:41the first film, which was such a beautiful moment for me
- 21:44personally to hear that because that was the goal, you know,
- 21:47that was the goal, to sort of find that again.
- 21:49And he certainly brings that to our film.
- 21:51Oh. It's awfully dark and gloomy up
- 21:54there. There, now you see how wrong
- 21:56people can be, that there is what you might call a doorway to
- 22:01a place of enchantment. He's the sort of essence of the
- 22:06message of the movie, it turns out, because he's, if ever there
- 22:09was somebody that's retained his childish spirit, it's him.
- 22:14And yeah, our jewels were all on the floor when he when he walked
- 22:18into the room and then got up onto a table and did a dance and
- 22:22then sat down behind the table and delivered this impeccable
- 22:25monologue and made everybody cry.
- 22:27And, and Rob Marshall was crying so much he couldn't cut.
- 22:30He couldn't call cut. Someone else had to call cut
- 22:32from behind the camera. So, yeah, it was at one of those
- 22:35moments on a set where you just want to pinch yourself.
- 22:38You can't believe how lucky you are to be there.
- 22:39Everything is possible, even the impossible off.
- 22:47We go. So that that really was a, you
- 22:59know, kind of a preview of Mary Poppins Returns, which, you
- 23:03know, didn't do great, but when you're putting it up against the
- 23:08original, how well was it going to do?
- 23:13People have to be careful to not compare.
- 23:15We always want to compare, right?
- 23:17But they have to be careful to not compare movies that are so
- 23:21legendary. You know, you just, you make a
- 23:26mistake by doing that. Yeah, so, but man, how about,
- 23:32you know, imagine being that that person with so much.
- 23:39It's the word just legendary status and everybody.
- 23:42It's it's just so eye opening and such a thrill for everyone
- 23:48on set when you're there and just to just to watch you in
- 23:53awe. I kid.
- 23:54I got the chills when when she said, you know, to see him tap
- 23:57dancing. Can you imagine?
- 23:58You know, and, and Emily Blunt is a is a huge Hollywood star
- 24:02and for her to be blown away by like, Oh my gosh, here's this
- 24:06legend doing what he is known for for decades in front of me
- 24:11right now. That's just this is something.
- 24:13Yeah, yeah. So he, you know, he didn't start
- 24:19out as as a movie star. He did TV.
- 24:24He did Broadway. He but he was actually the
- 24:30anchor on the CBS Morning News before all of that.
- 24:35Whoa, yeah. How about that?
- 24:38And obviously his desire was to become what he did and not a
- 24:42news guy. And his partner on that show,
- 24:52Walter Cronkite. Fun fact, my dad did plumbing
- 24:57for Walter Cronkite. Get out.
- 25:00Yes, on Martha's Vineyard, he had a home.
- 25:02He had a home on Martha's Vineyard and he did some work.
- 25:06Cool, right? And the one of the reporters was
- 25:15Barb Barbara Walters. So you had Walter Cronkite,
- 25:19Barbara Walters and Dick Van Dyke doing the Morning News.
- 25:26Wow. And then obviously Walter
- 25:31Cronkite went to evening and that's where he took off.
- 25:36And then Barbara Walters continued to obviously go on to
- 25:39what she did, and then he moved on.
- 25:43Now I'll tell you another weird fact that I found out because
- 25:48they didn't know what to do with him.
- 25:50That's why Walter Cronkite went to nights like it was the show
- 25:54wasn't doing well. They're up against the Today
- 25:56show, which was the hit in the mornings.
- 26:01So they tried them out of different things.
- 26:03One of the things they tried them out for was this new game
- 26:08show where people were going to guess the prices of things
- 26:12called The Price Is Right. He was going to be the original
- 26:19host of The Price is Right. And he did it, shot the pilot
- 26:24and then he was like, I don't get it.
- 26:27This doesn't make sense to me. Why would?
- 26:29Why would this be a thing? This will never make it.
- 26:34This will never make it so he so obviously the show did go on it
- 26:39and did very well and it's still doing well and he went on to do
- 26:44a ton of other things. So it's just weird how you know,
- 26:48sometimes you you think one thing is going to happen and you
- 26:52take this other turn and then it just, it just blossoms into
- 26:56something really cool. Back then, who was the vice
- 27:00president? Jerry Lewis.
- 27:07You know, I that that makes me think of how many presidencies,
- 27:10you know, voted for or seen, you know, in 100 years.
- 27:15It's crazy. You know he's getting near the
- 27:21last of, of the of, of people, right?
- 27:26That saw major changes in the world.
- 27:30When you're 100, you saw a a lot of changes.
- 27:35And, and I feel like I don't know, when we look back on
- 27:38ourselves who were born in the 60s or 70s, if we were to live
- 27:4490 years or whatever, I don't think we're, we could say we saw
- 27:49as much change in the world and technology as as someone like
- 27:54him, unless I'm mistaken. We'd have to sit down and really
- 27:58dissect that. But I don't know.
- 28:01I mean, TV's and phones existed when we were born.
- 28:06We were already flying rockets. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:11He had stage fright, chronic stage fright, and that's
- 28:17interesting. Just got over it and continued
- 28:21to just develop because he loved, you know, bringing joy to
- 28:27people. So it was, it was really cool.
- 28:30Yeah. He met Stan Laurel.
- 28:35I mean, there, like you said, there's not that many people
- 28:38that can say that they knew Stan Laurel.
- 28:44So to bring it back to Disney World, in the podcast that I was
- 28:52watching, there's, I don't know, this thing looked huge.
- 28:57I'm going to say it might have been 7 or 8 feet mannequin of
- 29:05him as a chimney sweep. And so Ted Denton asked about
- 29:11it, and they said it was from the Great Movie Ride because
- 29:17that was in the scene, one of the scenes, but it was in the
- 29:21scene where Bert is on a fireplace.
- 29:28And so when they were getting ready to close the ride, they
- 29:33asked Dick Van Dyke if he wanted it.
- 29:36And he's like, yeah. So he took it.
- 29:39They shipped it to him with the fireplace and everything.
- 29:42And they're like, well, we don't have any room for this.
- 29:44So they took it off the fireplace and made it into a
- 29:48standing mannequin. And so that stands in his house
- 29:51now. Wow, how about that?
- 29:56So that then that makes me really wonder what happened to
- 29:58the rest of those props. It just makes me think like, we
- 30:02need a Disney World museum, right?
- 30:07Yeah. Couldn't Disney open that on
- 30:10property somewhere and you can put things like that in there?
- 30:15People would go to that, People would go to that.
- 30:19Side note, but. People, they can charge money
- 30:21for it. People would go to it.
- 30:23They could charge money, you know, you'd be like, oh, what
- 30:25are you doing today? Non park day?
- 30:26We're going to Springs and then we're going over to the Disney
- 30:28World museum. Yeah, we're going to look at all
- 30:30kinds of cool things, you know, that have, you know, taken part
- 30:33in in in in in Disney or just not even just Disney World.
- 30:36Disney, Disney museum. Yeah, I like that idea.
- 30:39I. Like that too, so you know, it.
- 30:45It's, it's just fun to think about, you know, there's certain
- 30:52scenes. Do you have a favorite scene
- 30:55from Mary Poppins? I'm just going to go with some
- 31:03of the more popular stuff because I really haven't seen it
- 31:08in quite some time and hadn't haven't seen it very much.
- 31:12We did see it. We did see it.
- 31:15We saw it. We saw it locally as a play as
- 31:16well when the kids were younger, which was very enjoyable.
- 31:21But probably the step in time scene.
- 31:25MSF. I'm saying if I'm saying that
- 31:26right with Dick Van Dyke. Yeah, is is probably my
- 31:31favorite. And then of course, when is, I'm
- 31:36not sure the title of the song, but Jim the Jim Jiminy, Jim
- 31:38Jiminy, Jim Jim Drew that. And that's kind of what you see
- 31:42in the Great Movie Ride as well. So I like more some of the more
- 31:47popular scenes. But whenever I like have to take
- 31:51some medicine by a spoon, I'm always thinking about a
- 31:53spoonful. Of sugar, one that always it's I
- 32:02don't. Maybe it's because I've I've,
- 32:04you know, I'm a dad and, and you get dad jokes now.
- 32:09But the scene where they go to Uncle Aubert's house and they're
- 32:13trying to get him down and he's laughing hysterically.
- 32:17And the more that they laugh, the more they float up to the to
- 32:19the sky and he's got all these dad jokes.
- 32:23So I always remember the one where you go, I once met met a
- 32:27man with a wooden like named Smith.
- 32:29And then the other one says, what's the name of his other
- 32:33like? So just silly stuff like that,
- 32:40you know, it's just just a fun, fun movie.
- 32:43You can't help but but laugh at that movie and they're awesome.
- 32:47I was going to say, there are some slower moments, right?
- 32:51Like Feed the Birds, even Let's Go Fly a Kite is not a funny
- 32:58song. It's a fun song, but it's not a
- 33:00funny song. But it just ties the whole movie
- 33:04together. So and then in that scene, you
- 33:07see him, you know, kind of wave off to Mary Poppins.
- 33:11And while she clearly was the star of the of the movie, that
- 33:18movie would not have been what it was without him.
- 33:22Right, I agree. Just just nowhere near it.
- 33:26So I was glad that that happened.
- 33:30And I also found out that the where he plays the the elder
- 33:38banker in that 'cause he plays two parts.
- 33:42So where he plays the elder banker, Disney wanted somebody
- 33:46else to play that. And Dick Van Dyke was like, no,
- 33:50I think I can play that. And Disney was like, no.
- 33:55And he's like, look, I'll do it for free.
- 33:58He's like, no, not, no, we need to get somebody else and then.
- 34:04That won't fly with the union. The story that that Dick Van
- 34:08Dyke tells is that he then said, I'll give you $7000, so let me
- 34:15do the part. I don't know if that's true or
- 34:19not. That's what he says.
- 34:22Wow. But I think that tied it that,
- 34:26you know, that tied it together. And then, you know, obviously,
- 34:29so many years later in Mary Poppins return, you see him play
- 34:32a similar role as the junior, but now he's the the elder
- 34:38banker. And so it just tied it together.
- 34:41So I thought that was cool. Cool story.
- 34:45Yeah, yeah. But now he's a he's.
- 34:48He was great. And it's funny as a kid, right,
- 34:53I knew Mary Poppins and then I would see Dick Van Dyke show in
- 34:56return in reruns. And as a very young kid, it was
- 35:03hard for me to correlate the two like, hey, but he's he's Mary.
- 35:08He's in Mary Poppins. How could he be?
- 35:10Yeah, I just remember that very young.
- 35:15I finally did get it. Yeah.
- 35:17Understand people can play two different roles.
- 35:21Yeah. I was just trying to think if I
- 35:22ever thought that about anybody, but I I can't really think that
- 35:24I've done that. Larry Hagman, I want to say the
- 35:31same thing happened there because you had I Dream of
- 35:34Jeannie and then Dallas. I just remember who who killed
- 35:40Jr. Back then, that was a big deal,
- 35:43who killed Jr. Tonight, we're going to find out
- 35:45who killed Jr. Did we ever find out who killed
- 35:49Jr. That's what I want to know.
- 35:51Yes, there's some some. We had some good moments in 80s
- 35:56TV, I'll tell you that. That Friday night lineup, man,
- 36:00that Friday night lineup, by my memory anyway.
- 36:02I feel like the Friday night lineup on CBS, and not quite in
- 36:06this order maybe, but I feel like it was like Buck Rogers and
- 36:14Dukes of Hazzard and the Hulk. I just remember wanting to come
- 36:16home. We'd go out to dinner and for
- 36:18fish and chips, my mom's watching.
- 36:20She's like, oh, yeah. And then come home and watch
- 36:23those shows. That was our thing, that Friday
- 36:27night lineup. Remember when TV controlled your
- 36:31life? Do you remember that it
- 36:33controlled your life? Oh, I got to go.
- 36:35It would be like, oh, Lawrence, I got to get off this podcast
- 36:37because my show's on at 9. And I'm like, oh, I'm just going
- 36:41to DVR it. DVR was a big revolution in the
- 36:45world. Saturdays I would go when I was
- 36:48in high school, I would go out to, I was in a bowling league,
- 36:53so we would go bowling in the morning and I would go hang out
- 36:55with my friend and I had to leave his house by, I don't
- 37:01know, 6:30 maybe because I had to be home.
- 37:06I'd take the bus all the way back to Long Island because I
- 37:09had to be home for cops. Bad boys, bad boys.
- 37:18Or you could set the DV or you could set the VCR, not the DVR.
- 37:22You could set the VCR, but you had to hope that a couple things
- 37:26happened right, A that you set the time right because plenty of
- 37:33times we missed shows because of because you didn't do that.
- 37:38If you were home and recording an an episode.
- 37:43I hated commercials. Did you hate commercials?
- 37:46Oh, still do. So I would pause the recording
- 37:51when the commercial started and then forgot.
- 37:56Yes. Forgot to hit the pause button
- 38:01after the commercials are over. You're like oh crap I missed 5
- 38:05minutes of the show. I hate these first world
- 38:08problems. I hate them.
- 38:10It was a revelation with the DVR too, when you were like, wait,
- 38:13because I thought you were going to say when you start recording
- 38:16it, you know, say, say you got home 15 minutes after it started
- 38:20recording. You're going to wait till it's
- 38:24done. It has to be done before you can
- 38:26watch it. Before you can watch DVR.
- 38:28You can just jump in. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:30You know, and start watching, even though it's midway through
- 38:33recording. Yeah, now you can just, you can
- 38:35play with stuff. You'll play with stuff like
- 38:37start some like you're available, but you're like, I'm
- 38:39going to wait about 20 minutes for this program to get into it.
- 38:42Then I'm going to start watching so I can bypass the commercials.
- 38:47And if I time it right, it'll be I'll be done when the show is
- 38:50done. Yeah, yeah, 100% right there.
- 38:53We have done that so many times. I remember when TiVo came out,
- 38:58we had a TiVo. We actually.
- 39:00Yeah, that's what I thought of. TiVo was the leader, the first
- 39:03DVR ever I believe. Yeah, yeah, we still, we still
- 39:06have them upstairs. Why?
- 39:08Because we paid for a lifetime subscription.
- 39:12Really. And do they honor it and it
- 39:14still work? I have no idea.
- 39:17I would assume so 'cause they're still they're still around, but
- 39:22I would have to take them as the size of a VCR, take it out and
- 39:26put it somewhere. Now I might have to do that.
- 39:31Steve used to watch Chips and BJ in the Bear.
- 39:35Wow, wow. Yeah, they're just not, you
- 39:41know, TV was an event, right? The Dick Van Dyke Show was an
- 39:45event. The family sat around and
- 39:47watched that. They don't really get that as
- 39:50much now, you know. It comes down to technology
- 39:54again. Yeah, right.
- 39:56Social media, Internet. If we didn't have that, we'd
- 39:59still be right back there where TV would be a big event.
- 40:03MTV is shutting down all their auxiliary channels, all their
- 40:09music, all the MTV music channels.
- 40:11They're all going away, I think the end of the year.
- 40:15Technology killed the video star is pretty much what it was.
- 40:19That's right. Because we all remember, a lot
- 40:22of us remember anyway, certain age that you waited, you waited
- 40:27for like Thriller to come on again or I don't know, Madonna
- 40:32crazy for you, something you waited.
- 40:34You just waited. And it was, like, so rewarding
- 40:36when it finally came on, you know?
- 40:39Well, we sat around. I can remember watching Michael
- 40:44Jackson's Remember the Time as the world premiere on MTV and
- 40:53Black or White, which was massive and it had the secondary
- 41:00scene and all that kind of stuff.
- 41:01So you you sat around and watched those premieres because
- 41:07you didn't want to miss them. Yeah, same mom says Remember the
- 41:10Time. Yeah, that was that was a big
- 41:12one for us. So Sharon Hecker asks, you know,
- 41:15does anyone make music videos anymore?
- 41:17And I, I'm going to say yes because I think you, they, they
- 41:21do still make them and you can watch them.
- 41:23You just have to search it, I believe.
- 41:26I don't know if every band is doing it as as much as they
- 41:31needed to for MTV. I'm going to assume yes, but I'm
- 41:35not positive. You know, with every single
- 41:36comes a video. Probably not because I think it
- 41:42was really a vehicle to push the the music.
- 41:46So for example, when we first moved to North Carolina in the
- 41:5090s, music had to catch up. Like if if it was, if it was a
- 41:59band from New York or, or the music started in New York, it
- 42:04had to work its way down the coast to North Carolina.
- 42:09Same thing like Florida. So 95 S And what's the other
- 42:17band? It was Woomp, there it is.
- 42:19And, and the other one there was like a twin Woot, woot, there it
- 42:23is. And Woomp, there it is, if I
- 42:26remember that correctly. So they started in Miami.
- 42:29So any of the Miami sound had to travel up through the East Coast
- 42:34and the New York sound had to travel down South in North
- 42:37Carolina. I would get it after all my
- 42:40friends in New York. And then vice versa, if it was a
- 42:45song that started in Miami. And so MTV was really that way
- 42:50to push it out nationally. And now with YouTube and
- 42:56streaming and social media, it's it's hitting the world at the
- 43:00same time, whereas before it used to be timed.
- 43:05I think you nailed it. I think you nailed it because
- 43:08radio was local. Right.
- 43:11To every state, every region. And so MTV became that
- 43:17nationwide radio station with video.
- 43:21Yeah, yeah. I mean, what was what was
- 43:24national Casey Kasem, American America's Top 40 out of that you
- 43:32didn't like? You said everything was local.
- 43:35It was, and I don't believe it was.
- 43:37It was done live. I was in when I was in radio.
- 43:41It was not done live. I did Rick DS in the morning on
- 43:45Sunday mornings, the Sunday morning countdown.
- 43:47And that was actually we that was delivered by mail on like 4
- 43:52CDs, 4 CDs. And you, you queue it up and you
- 43:55play the first track and when the track is done, you go to
- 43:58commercial and then you just hit play on the next track.
- 44:02And so it always came in recorded.
- 44:05Yeah. Rick DS.
- 44:08I do remember that. Yeah.
- 44:11See, we'll we'll take you on a whole.
- 44:14I know at one point we were talking about Dick Van Dyke.
- 44:19It's probably my fault. But you know what?
- 44:22It does make sense because we've talked about movies, we've
- 44:25talked about TV, we've talked about music, and you know, Dick
- 44:29Van Dyke has done it all. He, he's, he's, he, he is, he's
- 44:36gone through everything. I mean, he was he, he wants to
- 44:42do a even at almost 100 now he wants to get his barbershop
- 44:50quartet back together. He says.
- 44:52The problem is he can't find anybody that sings barbershop
- 44:56quartet like. Have him give me a call.
- 45:00Go to Disneyland. I know, right?
- 45:05They would jump at the chance. Can you imagine if he just
- 45:07surprised guests one day and just became part of part of that
- 45:12on Main Street? That would be crazy.
- 45:14I'd pass out. Did you know that in 2024 that
- 45:22Dick Van Dyke appeared in Coldplay's song All My Love,
- 45:28where he sings and dances and reflects on his life and career
- 45:30alongside Chris Martin? Yeah.
- 45:33So he's been on MTV before. He's done, he's done.
- 45:36He's done a music video. Yeah, it's he's.
- 45:41Done more than that too. At 99, folks, at 99, it it's
- 45:51crazy to think about that though, like even we've been
- 45:54pretty lucky. Like, you know, Betty White was
- 45:58still, I mean, how, how old was she when she was on SNL And the
- 46:06oh, man, the show that she was on recently, again, it was for
- 46:15women, I think. I think it was kind of playing
- 46:18on the The Golden Girls idea. I cannot think of the name of
- 46:22that move, that show. Somebody in chat will tell us.
- 46:27And then she even had a did you see the prank show that she was
- 46:34in? It was, it was, yeah.
- 46:37It was all senior citizens and they would go around doing
- 46:40pranks. Oh yeah.
- 46:43That's funny. That's funny.
- 46:45Yeah. Yeah, she she was a character.
- 46:48She lived life to the fullest. Imagine living life that long
- 46:51and having a great time. Yeah, seriously, I was just
- 46:57looking because I know that he won a Tony.
- 47:03Oh, Sharon Hecker says hot, Hot in Cleveland.
- 47:06Hot in Cleveland. There you go.
- 47:07Thank you, Sharon. That was it.
- 47:11He did not win an Oscar, so he doesn't have the EGOT, but he
- 47:17did win a Tony, a Grammy and several Emmys.
- 47:25Wow. Yeah, just just missing him the
- 47:28the Oscar for the EGOT, Yeah. He he needs to go do a film so
- 47:34that they can just do this honorary Oscar for him.
- 47:38He should have got one for night at the museum.
- 47:45Well, you know, they don't award Oscars for comedy.
- 47:49No, that's a whole nother thing. They need to revamp everything
- 47:54they do for the Oscars and how they determine the winners.
- 47:58I got a good formula for that. So, yeah, so happy birthday,
- 48:04Dick Van Dyke. You have brought many of us many
- 48:10laughs. I could put on Mary Poppins
- 48:12right now and absolutely just love it.
- 48:16The the the great accent and all.
- 48:24Did you know that? Did you know that his vocal
- 48:27coach for that? And, and This is why he
- 48:32attributes the accent being so bad.
- 48:36His vocal coach was Irish. Oh.
- 48:41So he says. That's why, That's why my
- 48:44English accent was so bad. Oh, that's funny, Disney, you
- 48:49got to be better than that. They couldn't find an English
- 48:54vocal code? It's.
- 48:54Funny the stuff that that, you know, that stuff wouldn't pass
- 48:57now people would be like, they'd laugh that out.
- 49:01No way. All the haters on Instagram
- 49:03would be all over that. Yeah, be like, no way.
- 49:07No, he knew. That was the other thing.
- 49:11He knew Walt Disney. It's only so many people alive
- 49:15that knew Walt Disney. You know Julie Andrews, Him.
- 49:23Excuse me, Bob Gur. Tony Baxter worked for him.
- 49:29Right. Yes.
- 49:31Oh, yes, he did. Yeah.
- 49:33Tony Baxter. Tony Baxter, if anybody doesn't
- 49:36know, he is basically the Imagineer behind Big Thunder
- 49:40Mountain, the original figment. And I've been in the same room
- 49:45with Tony Baxter where he says he hates the figment we've got
- 49:50now. He hates it.
- 49:53And he goes, what? I can say that what's Disney
- 49:55going to do, fire me? He he does not like the current
- 49:59iteration or the second one. Yeah, like you know how I on the
- 50:07on the post show I try to find old attractions.
- 50:11I don't think I maybe I didn't look hard enough for on purpose,
- 50:14but I don't think I have found the second version of Figment.
- 50:21I don't think I've. I don't know if I got to
- 50:24experience the second version. I don't know how I would know.
- 50:28I don't know how I would know this, but he first met Walt.
- 50:34He was selling popcorn. Walt just comes on over, grabs
- 50:40a, you know, he serves Walt a popcorn.
- 50:43They do a quick little, you know, chitchat, you know, Walt
- 50:46tells him to, you know, keep it the good work, son, you know,
- 50:50and moves on his way. And can you even just imagine
- 50:53that kind of interaction like that?
- 50:55Like that's imagine if you just be in transport back in time and
- 51:00just beat Tony Baxter for a second and just Walt comes by
- 51:03and grabs a popcorn. Crazy.
- 51:07I could all. I would also think that I would
- 51:10probably treat Walt like I treat, oh, now I just went
- 51:17blank. Josh tomorrow, who will be the
- 51:19next Walt? We think, right?
- 51:23I've seen him enough in Disney. It's what's up, what's up, Josh,
- 51:26you know, and we chit chat for a bit.
- 51:29Walt would, Walt would be that way too.
- 51:30I'm sure Walt was. I'm sure Walt was the same way
- 51:34as Josh. Tomorrow is Josh is a people
- 51:37person. You can approach Josh.
- 51:40You can have a conversation with Josh.
- 51:41Josh and I have a connection with our local ties with each
- 51:45other and talk sports. That gives me the chills every
- 51:49time I say that, you know, it's just pretty cool.
- 51:52And I'm sure, I'm sure he's just good at identifying people,
- 51:56right? People he's interacted with
- 51:57before and talked to because at least when he sees me, it's it's
- 52:02not a hello to a stranger. It's kind of like, oh, hey,
- 52:04what's going on, man? You know, So I think that's
- 52:08really cool, really special to me.
- 52:10But yeah, I think I think Walt was probably that way.
- 52:13Why? Why, why, why would he walk
- 52:15through the parks in, in right, which is his baby.
- 52:19And these guests, you know, are enjoying his creation.
- 52:22You know, why wouldn't he interact with people?
- 52:24It would be cool to hear stories from people who just interacted
- 52:29like Walt. You know, I was standing on Main
- 52:32Street waiting for the parade, and Walt came over and started
- 52:34talking to me. You know, I'm sure.
- 52:37I'm sure those things, those things occurred.
- 52:41What year did you first go to Disney?
- 52:46I'm not good with stuff like this.
- 52:48I would say, let's see, Jill was born in O6, Tammy.
- 52:57So Tammy, we went, we went, we went in O6 when Tammy was very
- 53:04much pregnant. If I backtrack from that I'm
- 53:07just going to guess and maybe say O 4 was the first time.
- 53:12The second one. Because the first.
- 53:14One opened in O2. Oh oh, OK, so we missed it.
- 53:20Yeah. So I would have seen the first
- 53:24one, probably the second one because I was there in February
- 53:31of 2001 and you know, my oldest John Des, he was 7 at that
- 53:42point, so or six at that point. So we probably would have done
- 53:46figment. So I'm going to say I was on the
- 53:49second one, but I have no recollection of that ride.
- 53:53And then obviously the third one, yes.
- 53:56And maybe at someday we'll be able to say the 4th.
- 54:01Maybe someday soon. Yeah, I think what Disney should
- 54:05do with that ride is just let let's go.
- 54:08Let's let's really don't just remake the original, but put so
- 54:16much nostalgia in it that it would make people love it, if
- 54:23that makes sense. Yeah, bring bring back Dream
- 54:25Finder in some way and that kind of thing.
- 54:29Old mouse gear, which people some people might not know, but
- 54:32I think all most of you do know that old mouse gear became
- 54:37creations that has no character at all.
- 54:41But I don't mind. I don't mind creations, but they
- 54:47had some old stuff in there from the original.
- 54:51They had the dream finders. I don't you call it his dream
- 54:54machine. Yeah, that that that was up on
- 54:57the wall, which is pretty neat. I had no idea what I was looking
- 55:00at, though, to be honest. I was new to Disney World, newer
- 55:06back then. Even when we first moved here,
- 55:07when we first started going, it was a little bit new.
- 55:10I didn't know the history like that.
- 55:13Yeah. Now if I did, I would have been
- 55:14like, whoa, look at that. Speaking of that, you know that
- 55:20Disney Springs, we checked out Disney Springs the other day and
- 55:24we went to the pop up shop. That pop up shop is cute, that
- 55:29pop up shop is cute, but boy does that reek of spending
- 55:35money. Let me tell you.
- 55:38I mean, it's all mystery boxes and to me I could be great.
- 55:46Call me a naive, but I don't I don't know if there's a way to
- 55:49trade those things. Like I don't mind mystery boxes
- 55:53with Disney pins because there's a possibility I can trade the
- 55:57dupes. I don't know.
- 56:00If anybody knows in the comments, you can comment later
- 56:03comment now if I buy these figurines and I get some some
- 56:07dupes, am I stuck with them? It I don't know if there's this
- 56:14whole other culture we don't know about just like I didn't
- 56:17know this whole culture with with pin with pins.
- 56:20Anyway, I know we pin trade, but now that we've we've, we've dove
- 56:25into it that, you know, there's Facebook groups and this and
- 56:28that where you can, you can, you can trade with people and this
- 56:31and that. But the pop up shop is is cute,
- 56:33very cute. Love the Star Wars collection.
- 56:35There's a ton of stitch collections and things like
- 56:38that. But what we did notice, I'm
- 56:41going to say we I'm going to give Jacob all the credit
- 56:43because I probably wouldn't even it wouldn't have dawned on me,
- 56:45but the Mr. Toad ride vehicle is gone.
- 56:51Do you remember that used that used to be there?
- 56:52The pop up shop is to the right when you first walk into the
- 56:55Co-op. I thought it took over the the D
- 56:59tech area, but it didn't. They took the shop that was on
- 57:03the right and put it in the D tech area and now the pop up
- 57:08shop is on your right. OK, so what's the pop up shop
- 57:14going to be? Is it is it going to be
- 57:17temporary and flip to different things or is it does it look
- 57:22permanent? I mean, it looks permanent.
- 57:27It looks permanent. They've taken, they've put new
- 57:31shelves in there all around the walls, as opposed to where you
- 57:34had a lot of T-shirts and jerseys hanging up before on
- 57:38those walls. Now they're all shelves.
- 57:41I think they're all white shelves, good lighting.
- 57:44And it's like every section has a different collection that you
- 57:48can collect. And in the middle, it's like
- 57:51this display table that has a ton of Star Wars characters
- 57:57there. And then there's this tiny, tiny
- 57:59table where they encourage you to go over there and unbox what
- 58:03you've bought and, and post it on social media, which is a nice
- 58:09listen that that's that's a nod for two things, right?
- 58:11That's Disney saying, we love social media.
- 58:14For all of you that have a problem with social media
- 58:16people, that's Disney saying, Hey, I want you to post this on
- 58:19social media. And it's also, you know, again,
- 58:23it's free advertising for Disney and creates the hype.
- 58:25And maybe it'll get more people to go and, and buy, buy some
- 58:31more, more figures. Yeah.
- 58:34But I I love the figures and I think they're decently priced
- 58:371699 for the most part. I was tempted to buy some Star
- 58:44Wars ones, but once you get that dupe, it's like, oh, what do I
- 58:48do? So I don't know if there's a way
- 58:50to trade your dupes. I suppose if you're there and
- 58:53nobody was there, of course we got there late.
- 58:56We were the only ones in the shop.
- 58:59But maybe there's times you get lucky, right?
- 59:01There's probably times you get lucky where if you're opening up
- 59:03a few and someone else's and you're like, oh, hey, I don't
- 59:06have this one, but I see we can make a trade here.
- 59:09So, you know, because we have dupes on something.
- 59:11We did that on May the fourth. Remember, we were trying were we
- 59:15both was it was it that we were both trying to get all the
- 59:17wishables, the Star Wars wishables?
- 59:20Yeah. And we we all, we both came out
- 59:22with all of them, I think. Right.
- 59:24Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:25And I, you guys didn't do bad, I don't think he, I think maybe 1
- 59:29dupe each. Yeah.
- 59:31And then you were able to trade it right after that.
- 59:34So it worked well. Yeah, yeah.
- 59:39So, boy, we covered a lot of things along with Dick Van Dyke.
- 59:43Did we finish Dick Van Dyke? Yeah, yeah.
- 59:47So there's actually, let me show this.
- 59:51I did pull this in. I guess there is going to be a
- 59:56event for Fathom this this weekend.
- 1:00:01So I'll show that and then then we'll head out.
- 1:00:04All right. I mean, Simply put, he's an
- 1:00:13icon. He is somebody who innovative
- 1:00:18film and TV. I consider myself one of his
- 1:00:25first leading ladies. What I never really thought of
- 1:00:28myself as a comedian, really an entertainer and a song and dance
- 1:00:35man. Why look so awfully tragic?
- 1:00:38Put on a happy face. I mean, he's in a class by
- 1:00:42himself, Mr. Creative. Dick Van Dyke loved it.
- 1:00:48I just loved the still of it. Sorry, Dick Van Dyke.
- 1:00:51He missed the Ottoman sometimes and sometimes he tripped over
- 1:00:54the Ottoman. When we started filming, we
- 1:01:01just, it just felt right, everything about.
- 1:01:06It. He's a great human being and one
- 1:01:10of the most generous performers that I've ever worked with.
- 1:01:14My birthday. If you hadn't mentioned that, I
- 1:01:17would have completely forgotten it.
- 1:01:19He's the most incredible human being in terms of his
- 1:01:24likability, and he's a mammoth talent like nothing else.
- 1:01:30Van Dyke, this is just so well timed and so deserved.
- 1:01:35I look better than the house. He's the most gifted physical
- 1:01:38comedian that ever lived. And I'm talking about Chaplain
- 1:01:41Keaton. Anybody else?
- 1:01:43Seriously though, no fooling around in here.
- 1:01:46Stuff's really old. Everything is distinctive about
- 1:01:51him. There's nobody else but Dick.
- 1:01:56Dick Van Dyke, I think I'm in love.
- 1:01:59You blew me away. Out of my seat.
- 1:02:01Sensational. Keep it up.
- 1:02:06Thank you. Happy birthday, Joe.
- 1:02:07Honey. Thanks.
- 1:02:15So there you go. Make sure to check that out if
- 1:02:18you're interested. Yeah, that'll that'll be a great
- 1:02:21documentary right there. That'd be that'd be cool if
- 1:02:26Disney Plus put that up. It would, it would.
- 1:02:30I wonder if they have. I have to search and see if they
- 1:02:32have anything on Dick Van Dyke on Disney Plus.
- 1:02:36Yeah, incredible man. I'm glad we had a chance to
- 1:02:40celebrate his life while he's still with us.
- 1:02:44We tend to, we tend to do these things when people are gone.
- 1:02:46But good. Good to do it now.
- 1:02:49It it's an amazing feat to reach 100.
- 1:02:53Even reaching 90s is just amazing.
- 1:02:56You know, if if if I was asked, you know, what are you looking
- 1:02:59for? I'm like, get me to my 90s.
- 1:03:01You know, you can't complain. You can't complain when you when
- 1:03:05you get that far. What a life.
- 1:03:08Well, you know, unbelievable and truly talented man.
- 1:03:16Yeah. So I, I think, I think we might
- 1:03:21want to look at focusing a little bit more on doing more of
- 1:03:26these feature pieces. OK.
- 1:03:31Let us know in the comments if you like this.
- 1:03:33We, you know, we can do a lot of different features on people
- 1:03:35and, and yeah, I just, I like it.
- 1:03:38We'll have to talk more about that.
- 1:03:40All right, very cool. I'd like to do one on Cara
- 1:03:42Burnett. I know she's not really Disney,
- 1:03:44but she's fun. By the way, I wanted to, I
- 1:03:48wanted to point out, did anyone watch the football game last
- 1:03:52night, the Eagles and Chargers, but not the real game, the
- 1:03:56monsters version? I think that I've watched all of
- 1:04:01them and I just, I just feel like Disney did an amazing job
- 1:04:07this year. I think it was the best that
- 1:04:11they've done. It was pretty incredible.
- 1:04:13I, I alerted you and some of my other friends, just in case you
- 1:04:17all didn't know or didn't realize it was going on.
- 1:04:19Disney Springs had a big poster up on Saturday, which alerted us
- 1:04:24again, like, oh, it's this Monday night.
- 1:04:28They did a great job and they even, you know, Jalen Hurts from
- 1:04:31the Eagles through 4 interceptions.
- 1:04:33And if you were watching the monsters version, Sully
- 1:04:37intercepted him four times. I.
- 1:04:40Did so that's pretty cool. That was pretty cool and the
- 1:04:43halftime show was great with Mike Wazowski competing with
- 1:04:47Sully and Mike won and it was pretty cool.
- 1:04:54Disney is a great job, so I hope they get good ratings for that
- 1:04:57and we see more of those in the future.
- 1:04:59Now. Being such a great football fan,
- 1:05:02I don't like to miss any games. Tammy liked the setup I had.
- 1:05:06I just set my iPad up on the couch and I synced it.
- 1:05:09I synced it with the Disney version so at any time we could
- 1:05:13look down and see the real play as opposed to what was happening
- 1:05:18on the field with monsters. And if anybody doesn't know,
- 1:05:21every NFL player has technology now on them, on their bodies, in
- 1:05:25their helmets, and they must be connected to their bodies, too.
- 1:05:29But he can tell how fast they run there.
- 1:05:33It's AGPS locator. So somehow technology wise, they
- 1:05:37connect that to the characters on the field and you're able to
- 1:05:41see an actual football game with it.
- 1:05:43So it was a lot of fun. So if you if you missed it, I'm
- 1:05:47guessing Disney Plus has this right now stored I.
- 1:05:51Would think so for a bit. The other games were on there
- 1:05:55too, I think. I think the Toy Story game was
- 1:05:57there after after it was over, if I if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:06:01I don't know if it's still there, but I thought it was on
- 1:06:03after it. So yeah, check it out.
- 1:06:05And I we watched the first half. OK, and I wonder how they how
- 1:06:10they do some things because I'm listening closely to the
- 1:06:12announcers in the monsters version and it's like they're so
- 1:06:17they were so quick with certain lines and.
- 1:06:19I. Don't you know?
- 1:06:22It's really impressive. It's very impressive, very
- 1:06:27impressive. I was like, that's the one thing
- 1:06:29I said to her was like, I don't get how they're processing this
- 1:06:33that quickly. Like it.
- 1:06:35It's just she was like, it's Disney.
- 1:06:38I said, I know, but you know, there's a lot.
- 1:06:41I mean, just to do a live game is one thing, but then you've
- 1:06:48got to take it and convert it to the monsters get it is amazing.
- 1:06:55Yeah, it's very impressive. It would be, it would nice to
- 1:06:57be, it would be nice to see it behind the scenes.
- 1:06:59Even if they did something on Instagram for a real for a one
- 1:07:04minute or something like show us a little bit of like, how are
- 1:07:07you so witty? Like they'd make a call on a
- 1:07:09play and then they'd have they tie in some monsters funny line
- 1:07:15or history or something you might relate to if you know,
- 1:07:17monsters. It was like, whoa, how did they?
- 1:07:20How did they? Wow.
- 1:07:21Yeah. Very good.
- 1:07:22Very, very well done. Yes.
- 1:07:24Yeah, I think they'll do more of that.
- 1:07:26I of course would not hate if they did a baseball game, but
- 1:07:30we'll see. Right, that would be kind of
- 1:07:35neat. They should.
- 1:07:35Maybe they should try different sports.
- 1:07:38Try different sports. And you had a great idea.
- 1:07:41Let's come back with Star Wars next year.
- 1:07:43Yeah, yeah. Oh, that was that was why I
- 1:07:47mentioned it. February of 2027 as the 50th
- 1:07:53anniversary of Star Wars and they're going to be re releasing
- 1:07:57the original in the theaters. So I don't remember what day it
- 1:08:01is, but I know where Corey will be that day.
- 1:08:06Yeah. And then it's going to be, and I
- 1:08:09am sure this is going to happen, it's got to be coming out in
- 1:08:12IMAX as well. Like, I don't think we need to
- 1:08:16go see this at the local theater with the smaller screens.
- 1:08:20I think we need to go find the best theater experience we can
- 1:08:22find. And that'll that'll probably be
- 1:08:25in Disney Springs. You know, that would be
- 1:08:29unbelievable because I sat in theaters in 1977 at five years
- 1:08:34old and had no idea what I was watching.
- 1:08:36But boy, did I like it. Never seen anything like that
- 1:08:40before. Just just just a massive thing.
- 1:08:44I love that these movies are celebrating their anniversaries
- 1:08:50and they're they're coming back out on the big screen to sit in
- 1:08:52the theater and watch Jaws last year or the year before in IMAX,
- 1:08:56where Jacob and Jill had never seen a stitch of it, and to
- 1:09:00watch their reactions and jump scares and things like that.
- 1:09:04They have a true appreciation for movies like that.
- 1:09:06I saw that The Shining was hitting theaters this weekend in
- 1:09:12Orlando in the Regal Theater to celebrate the 45th.
- 1:09:17Yeah. That'd be something I'd love to
- 1:09:19take Jacob to to see as well. Oh, God.
- 1:09:22Yeah. 4 DX, Star Wars. Yes, please.
- 1:09:25Give me some, give me some. You know what?
- 1:09:28When Star Wars comes out next year, that is 4 DX for sure,
- 1:09:31because it star fighters coming out.
- 1:09:33What is it next year or the year after?
- 1:09:35That's going to be a must, a must see.
- 1:09:39Tammy's afraid that too much shaking around will make her
- 1:09:42sick because we did a mild version which was back to the
- 1:09:46future in four DX and you shake around.
- 1:09:49It's no joke. So and our butts were.
- 1:09:52Hurting. Can you not adjust the movement?
- 1:09:55No, you can. You can only adjust the water
- 1:09:59level. Do you want water or not water?
- 1:10:04OK. I don't.
- 1:10:05I don't think you can adjust it. Do you think you can because
- 1:10:08you've been before? Yeah, but it was so long ago.
- 1:10:13Let me do some research on that. Yeah, we'll have to find out.
- 1:10:16I feel like you can because that would make that would, I think
- 1:10:20that would enhance the whole family experience, right?
- 1:10:22Because you want to go, she's a little concerned with it.
- 1:10:26You can all still go and really enjoy it.
- 1:10:29I'm going to look into that. That's a great idea because I
- 1:10:31said to her, you know, do you want to do you?
- 1:10:34I asked her multiple times because I know she's not 100% in
- 1:10:38on it. Especially for a movie that's
- 1:10:39over 3 hours in Avatar, Fire and Ash.
- 1:10:42I was like this would be an amazing movie to see and it's in
- 1:10:45three. I didn't think they did this but
- 1:10:47it's in 3D as well. 3D. Can you imagine 3D and 4DX?
- 1:10:52And four. So does that make it 7D?
- 1:10:55Yes, it does. OK.
- 1:10:56All right, it it. I can imagine those seats get
- 1:11:00loose, too, right. So you see me moving that I
- 1:11:03could imagine when they're flying on the Ecrons.
- 1:11:05Yeah. That you're going to feel like
- 1:11:07flight of passage without being in that position, just kind of
- 1:11:10floating. Because they told me at the
- 1:11:12theater when they saw Jaws, you you could probably get seasick
- 1:11:17because as the boat moved, so did your chair.
- 1:11:20So kind of slow and free flowing.
- 1:11:24And you know, Tammy's the type. She's like, guys go, you don't
- 1:11:27need me for everything. I'm like, but I want you to come
- 1:11:29with us, you know, so I'll miss it in 40 X my choice, but but
- 1:11:36I'll I'll say this last thing. Our butts hurt.
- 1:11:39All four, all three of us, our butts hurt.
- 1:11:41If you go to a four DX movie, everybody, and I'm not even
- 1:11:43trying to be funny, your butt will hurt because what's
- 1:11:46happening is you're clenching your cheeks to stay stable in
- 1:11:49the seat. It moves so much.
- 1:11:51Can you imagine moving around for two hours?
- 1:11:53For two hours, yeah. Like there was a point where I
- 1:11:55was like, I don't know, I might have to stand up and like go for
- 1:11:59a walk or something. And when when we we were walking
- 1:12:02out to the car, I mentioned it and Tammy and Jacob are like,
- 1:12:05oh, yeah, Dad. Yeah, our butts are getting
- 1:12:06pretty sore because of all the movement.
- 1:12:10Yeah, but but what an experience.
- 1:12:12I encourage everybody to try it. Very cool.
- 1:12:19So tomorrow, not tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow we
- 1:12:23have Magic Epcot. No Epcot.
- 1:12:29We are at Epcot because of the rain.
- 1:12:31I don't know what would have, I don't know how much of our
- 1:12:36schedule was affected by the rain, but I feel like we
- 1:12:41probably wouldn't have done Regal Eagle and hit a couple of
- 1:12:44food booths if it wasn't for the rain.
- 1:12:47But the cookie stroll took longer than we expected.
- 1:12:49And when we when we've made our first stop in in Communicore, I
- 1:12:55was like, oh, there's 4 cookies here.
- 1:12:57We're going to be done in no time.
- 1:13:00We got our 4th, but that line was long.
- 1:13:03Yeah. What do you think about Disney
- 1:13:06incorporating 4 cookies in one spot?
- 1:13:10You you could say, well, you can knock out a bunch of once, but
- 1:13:13the I feel at the time you waited for those cookies, you
- 1:13:16could have gone to four food booths for cookies and then out
- 1:13:19at the same time. I mean, I think with it being
- 1:13:25there, it's OK. Had it just been a random
- 1:13:31country that had 4I, I don't think I would have gotten it.
- 1:13:35But I think, you know, if you think about like the festival
- 1:13:38favorites and the whole idea behind Communicore Plaza or
- 1:13:44Communicore Hall is that it's supposed to be about the
- 1:13:48festivals, you know? And so I'm I'm good with it
- 1:13:52there. But yeah, that line was long,
- 1:13:55that line. Was it was long?
- 1:13:57Yeah, it was long. So I took you all on Nemo and
- 1:14:00didn't want to make you all way in in a food line that long.
- 1:14:03So yeah, Tammy was good about it.
- 1:14:05I felt like, I think I can do that and come back in time when
- 1:14:09you guys get done. And it was perfect timing
- 1:14:10because they just got outside when I was, I had come outside
- 1:14:14of Nemo. So.
- 1:14:16So that worked. We made the best of it.
- 1:14:18It was rainy, but we get to see Ratatouille and they thought it
- 1:14:21was pretty good as well. I know I was.
- 1:14:25I threw a fit when you told me it was going to 2D, But
- 1:14:29ultimately it's better. It's sharper, it's clearer, it's
- 1:14:32more colorful, so. My other thought is is having it
- 1:14:38in three DI think detracted from the props around like when
- 1:14:43you're going through the pantry and all of that because you have
- 1:14:46the 3D glasses on, I think it detracts from the actual props
- 1:14:50in the in the ride. So I'm and, and you know, I
- 1:14:55talked to Murray Murray's adventures, who's our Disneyland
- 1:14:58Paris streamer, and he was saying that, you know, they
- 1:15:02haven't been using glasses over there in a long time and people
- 1:15:06love it, absolutely loved it. So we didn't get the extra scene
- 1:15:13in the queue that they got because they got some sort of
- 1:15:18scene. And I don't know if maybe it's
- 1:15:19where the the glasses used to be.
- 1:15:24Maybe instead of just putting the wall up like they did for
- 1:15:26us, maybe they got some other scene there.
- 1:15:29But still works, still works. And then, so we're doing that
- 1:15:33tomorrow night. And then Thursday I will be at
- 1:15:38Trans-siberian Orchestra doing. All right.
- 1:15:43Are you going to see Zach? And they have the signing line
- 1:15:47back so you can meet the band and have them sign stuff.
- 1:15:51So we'll get a program that has all their pictures in it and
- 1:15:56then they'll all sign the the program.
- 1:15:59So yeah, I'll get to see I'll get to see Zach and up close and
- 1:16:04and shake his hand. He did wave at us last year from
- 1:16:08the stage, which was pretty cool, but.
- 1:16:10Nicely. See him this time so.
- 1:16:12He's a great guy and Saturdays will be with you.
- 1:16:18Yes, we've got a jam packed Saturdays before the stream even
- 1:16:21starts, we'll be doing the the live meet up, Pete's meet up in
- 1:16:26Disney Springs from 11:00 to 1:00 and from there we're going
- 1:16:30to grab some some brunch. I don't know how we're fitting
- 1:16:33that in. In two hours there, there could
- 1:16:36be over 100 people there. This meet up will actually.
- 1:16:41Just put us up a table. I think Pete's going to put you
- 1:16:43and I at a table and just have people come over the signing
- 1:16:46line, the signing line. He this meet up is probably
- 1:16:52bigger than the actual meet up that he does in August.
- 1:16:55That's three days. He'll, he'll have more people at
- 1:16:59this meet up then he will the one in, in Maryland.
- 1:17:02So looking forward to it. I've got new business cards that
- 1:17:10I'll be handing out. So that'll be nice.
- 1:17:14So the the DSN may grow, you know, this week, who knows?
- 1:17:20Yeah, there you go. That's the.
- 1:17:22Be there. I'll fly in Friday night, then
- 1:17:25we'll be hanging out Saturday and then Sunday.
- 1:17:29Monday I'll be at the parks also and then fly home Monday
- 1:17:33evening. Nice.
- 1:17:35And if you're good at Magic Kingdom, we'll be live at Magic
- 1:17:40Kingdom on Saturdays. Everyone, I will get you into
- 1:17:44the LID superbox for Starlight. I'll get you in the VIP box.
- 1:17:51Probably for the second, probably not for the 1st.
- 1:17:55I'll probably follow the parade for the first.
- 1:17:58Oh. So you're going to start on Main
- 1:18:03Street and just kind of follow it, OK.
- 1:18:06Yeah. So what's OK?
- 1:18:07OK, OK. Wait a minute.
- 1:18:09How can you produce the stream if you're doing that if you're
- 1:18:12not with me? Produce the stream from
- 1:18:13wherever. OK.
- 1:18:15I have to stand next to you to produce the train.
- 1:18:17I'm doing it from 600 miles away right now.
- 1:18:22That is true. That is true.
- 1:18:24That is, that is going to be a test, folks.
- 1:18:26On Saturday. I am remote producing.
- 1:18:31So Corey's signal comes back here to North Carolina from
- 1:18:37Florida standing next to Corey, I am telling the North Carolina
- 1:18:41studios what to do and running the show remotely from there.
- 1:18:48This is absolutely crazy, but our friends have done it.
- 1:18:52Sierra's done it that does it every single day.
- 1:18:56So I'm sure it will work out with with no problem.
- 1:19:00So we'll. See.
- 1:19:01Love it. Love it.
- 1:19:02Yeah. All right.
- 1:19:04Thanks for joining us, everyone. We do this live because we do it
- 1:19:06for you. And once again, if you're

- 1:19:20You sent me something for Spotify, which looked pretty
- 1:19:25good. Like, do we have a little
- 1:19:27following over there? Like like it's doing better than
- 1:19:30I expected. Yeah, next week we will.
- 1:19:35Being that it's Christmas episode, it's the last episode
- 1:19:37of the season. We will, excuse me, have a recap

- 1:19:49if you go to YouTube, you should be able to get your YouTube
- 1:19:53recap as a viewer. It'll kind of tell you what
- 1:19:57channels you've watched for the year, what genres you've
- 1:20:00watched, all that type of stuff. So go to YouTube.
- 1:20:03If it's not in your app, go to youtube.com/recap and you'll be
