MLB Trade Deadline Recap · TripleAlphas

• speaker-0: Welcome back, Triple Office Port Salk. I'm Josh. I have no clue how to do this. Last time it was reversed. It looks like I'm pointing the other way on my screen, but am I pointing at you guys? See, on my screen I'm pointing to the other side of you guys are over here. Triple office sports talk. I'm Josh. Bryce is somewhere over here, and Royce somewhere over here. 143. Yep, 143. ⁓ we are going. speaker-1: You're pointing at me. speaker-0: To jump into MLB standings, we're gonna go through them pretty briefly, and then we're gonna rip into trade deadline talks. ⁓ I'll go first. The Tampa Bay Rays lead the ALE's sixty-eight and forty-nine, Yankees four and a half back, sixty-four and fifty-one. Boston, only one back of the Yankees, sixty-two and fifty-one, Baltimore fifty-six and fifty-nine, and Toronto fifty-four and sixty-two. In the central, the White Sox fifty-nine and fifty-four. Three and a half back is Cleveland, fifty-seven-fifty-nine. ⁓ Minnesota, fifty-six and fifty-nine. Tigers 56 and 59. Damn a lot of 59s there. And then the Royals 48 and 67. And then out west. ⁓ Houston is now in the lead. I don't believe they were the last time we did this. ⁓ Houston, 56 and 57. speaker-1: Josh's team. That's a j ⁓ Houston's your team. ⁓ I mean you're a Cowboys Astros fan, aren't you? speaker-0: fifty eight, what's up? I think you said ⁓ I see. speaker-2: That is speaker-0: That would be illegal, I think. Seattle, 56 and 60. Athletics, man, 45 and 70. They have fallen off a cliff, man. And the Angels, only one worse, 44 and 70. ⁓ Out east, the Atlanta Braves, 69 and 45. Miami Philly, 62 and 54. They're eight back. ⁓ Miami, 58 and 57. Washington, 56 and 61. And the Mets 50 and 66. And the Central Brewers 5.5 game lead 72 and 43. The best record in the sport. 5.5 back, Chicago 67-49. Cardinals in third, ⁓ 57-58. The Reds, 56 and 58. And the Pirates 57 and 60. And then out west. The Dodgers, 69 and 46. Losers of 6 straight, by the way. Diamondbacks, 61 and 54. Padres 59 and 56. Giants 48 and 66. Damn. And the Rockies, 45 and 70. ⁓ we go over the standings pretty often, but is there anything you guys want talk about? speaker-1: No, I mean nothing's really changed over this. I mean, the same teams are still near the top. American League still sucks. ⁓ I mean you're you pretty much w what you're seeing is here we're getting to we're in August. Teams are starting to def yeah, other than like the AL Central, AL West, there's ⁓ every other team's got every other division's got about two teams in it that are sticking in it and that's about it. ⁓ except I mean I mean the w A L East has got three, but ⁓ that's about it. The rest of them are just kinda you know, it's the the back of the pack, the trade deadline kinda got the teams who were just getting rid of things and that's now you're just seeing the top two teams from each division kinda pull away, do the what they're doing and that's it's we're gett we're getting to the just to try to keep everybody healthy and get h get to the end of the season. speaker-0: Yeah, I think the only real true movement has been Boston. ⁓ honestly speaker-1: Fossil's been going on for about a month now, so it's not like speaker-0: Yeah, but they're s they're just rolling. I they're like speaker-1: But you're you're talking about in July they only lost four yeah they only lost four games. And in June they only lost ten. I mean they they've been going on this run. Yeah. You mean August? Or August. Yeah, so I mean you're you're talking about they they've been on this run since about June, middle beginning of June. So they kinda once they fired Joe, you know, Joey Corey and got and got things figured out and some players got hurt that probably those younger guys, things are just kind of rolling for ⁓ speaker-0: Obviously. Yeah. ⁓ Arizona, ⁓ you know, I didn't really know until I looked at this stat that they were six games over seven games over five hundred now. And they're in a wild card spot over San Diego. And San Diego's played well, so I'll give Arizona they've also moved. Those would be the two teams. Red Sox and the Diamondbacks have really started to march their way on ⁓ to find a postseason spot. But other than that, ⁓ I think we're just gonna rip right into the trade deadline. ⁓ Do you guys wanna go through every trade or not I mean notes? You know, the big ones? Or do you just wanna go to ⁓ speaker-1: ⁓ every trade. I mean, was there really any huge trades or I mean other than I mean other than Scoobyl, was there really any to me, ⁓ there's there weren't a lot of huge names moved. speaker-0: No, I mean a lot of the names we thought, I'm trying to think if there's any speaker-1: There's just teams that improved. ⁓ Yeah. You know, yeah, Scuba helps the Dodgers. ⁓ I thought I mean the Cubs did a good job getting their pitching what they needed. They did a good job. I mean, I'm not a Gosman fan, but I think you at least you got somebody can eat some eat some innings. speaker-0: their ⁓ cards into the table because they dealt some decent prospects for the guys they got. I know the guy they got from ⁓ the Mets or ⁓ in the homes trade. I know that guy's top one hundred and then what was the other bat yeah that was the other one. Yeah giving up Balasteros ⁓ to the angel ⁓ speaker-2: Got arrows. speaker-0: Yeah, he threw a runner. speaker-1: Hey Perez got he did it for all those years. speaker-0: He threw out he threw out a runner from his knees tonight, Ballastero Station. speaker-2: But ⁓ speaker-0: I would say speaker-1: No go, Rick. speaker-2: In the Cubs prospect list, half of ⁓ are blocked, besides Ballasteros. That's the only reason I did not like him leaving instead of somebody else. We have so many outfielders, it's unbelievable. speaker-0: Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I I liked all the moves they made really. I mean, sure, do I think they should have it Balesteros for that guy? I don't know that guy, so maybe not, but like speaker-2: On fire since he came to the Cubs. speaker-0: What has been a two days? But I mean, it's not like Balesteros is a generational hitter, you know, yet. Could be. But no, I like their moves. I think the only trade I I I we I don't think we talked about. I hated the Tyreek School trade. I'm not we're not the only ones that hate it. Everyone hates it. It w they didn't get anything back. ⁓ speaker-1: I don't care about it. I don't the my my my my thing about school is you you get what you get. I mean ever you don't know what these prospects are. That's my whole thing is why hold on to prospects that you don't know if they can perform. ⁓ yeah, they did just because they're in a top one hundred, you miss out you miss out on the top one hundred miss outs. They there's a status says only like ten percent of those actually turn out to be anything, or twenty percent, something like that. speaker-0: Hi buddy. speaker-1: It's not very high. So j you know, y whatever they gave him, who gives a shit? They weren't gonna sign him. They had to get something back for him. So and the Dodgers I agree. And I don't care what they got for him. And I don't care the Dodgers got him because I mean, they're still the Dodgers are f completely still injured. Got everybody's injured. So will they be healthy by the time they get to postseason? I don't know. And ⁓ that's w I don't think they'll perform if they're the the way they are they usually do because they're they are hurt. speaker-0: Yeah. ⁓ I mean they're always hurt. They just all come back right the they all come back right at the ⁓ end of the season. speaker-1: Yeah, but th I mean that y you can't continue to do this. speaker-0: I really don't. But he's got forty playoff innings in two years. Like he doesn't pitch other than the playoffs. Same thing with Snell. Snell hasn't pitched since his first three months there. But we'll see. speaker-1: You can't continue to do that. speaker-0: I know it they have so much ⁓ depth because they can go and get so many different players. ⁓ but really the only trade personally I thought all deadline was a true shocker, and it wasn't the player they got, it's what they gave up, was the Red Sox getting Adley Rutschman. That was really the true shocker for me for the entire deadline. ⁓ I know Roy doesn't care about prospects, but I mean they gave up a gener or an absolute haul for him. And I'm gonna be honest, I wanted the Yankees to get Adley Rutschman. He's an average hitter. He is not an above average hitter in Major League Baseball. Good defender, and I understand catching that is valuable. But what they got back, I mean, it was a no-brainer for Baltimore. So Bal I really truly think Baltimore's close to blowing it, like blowing it up. Like Gunnar's gone, Jackson Holiday's gonna be gone. No, I'm not saying within the next calendar year, but like with that kind of trade where they can get that many prospects at the same age, they're gonna they they're gonna blow it up. speaker-1: See, I was glad that the Yankees didn't get him because he's he's had the inj ⁓ wrist injury all year. He and that's bothered him and then wrist injuries don't just go away. I mean you're talking months and months of r you know, rehab 'cause it's just ⁓ because you use it so much. So I you know, whatever they gave him I you know, again, I don't care about prospects. So if that's who the Dodge or the Red Sox needed, ⁓ I hope he f ⁓ falls on his face. ⁓ 'cause I just 'cause he's a Red Sox, I don't give a shit about the Red Sox. But ⁓ I think he won't I d think he won't be much, but ⁓ whatever they gave him, whatever pe like I said, whatever anybody wants to give up whoever who what it's how you value your players. They ⁓ and the Red Sox must not they must not value those start those prospects as much as they thought ⁓ to bring ⁓ up. And they got a lot of young guys in the in the in their div in their team anyway, so yeah. speaker-0: ⁓ yeah, I mean I don't think we really need to go over all the deadlines. We can go over the ones that were in our game. I can ⁓ I'll go over the ones we got correct. Bryce didn't wasn't here last week, so he wasn't in it. Roy, I did edge you out. And honestly, you had more I don't let me see. I think you had more correct one speaker-1: I saw that. Yeah. But you missed one. Luis Castille, you you gave yourself a yellow. He was a ⁓ he's a White Sock. It's a green. speaker-0: ⁓ wow, I was right. You're right, it was green. Well, it didn't matter. Okay, so I got thirty-seven. You're right, I did miss that. ⁓ one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. Okay, so I was right before I just changed Luis Castillo. You had more correct than me. We actually tied. ⁓ I just got more yellows than you did. That was speaker-1: Well, I didn't have a lot of people trade ⁓ moving because I didn't really think this was gonna be much of a trade line. And I don't really think it did. You know, teams that I thought were gonna s that should have selled, they didn't sell. I mean, I really thought the you twins might do a little more. I really I mean I I ⁓ teams that should have probably. Giants I thought would do a little more. I really thought, you know, the Royals might do a little more. I thought some you know, teams like that might do more. And they just didn't do anything. speaker-0: I don't even know if they made one trade. Well, they got rid of Lee Thomas. Okay, but speaker-1: Yeah, I mean well yeah, the couple guys are the brace. But it like ⁓ teams just didn't do anything. I mean there's a lot of teams that just said, you know what, we're gonna stick with this team. I think a lot of peop 'cause I really th I think a lot of people are afraid about the C BA. ⁓ I think everybody's afraid about what's gonna happen. You know, it's not so much that they're not there's not gonna be a season. That's what the everybody's kinda thinking that's what's gonna happen. I think I think what the problem is they're wondering what's it gonna look like after when they do bring it back. Are they gonna I mean the money Everybody's talking you know, they're talking about salary caps. They're talking about, you know, all these different things, you know, having a f at least a floor and a ceiling and all that and where would that if do you grandfather people in? Do you get punished? How are you gonna get punished for things? There's so much up in the air, and I think a lot of owners were like, you know what? We ride it the way we wanna ride it. Am I do I agree with it? No, 'cause I don't give a shit about money and how all these team mil billionaires keep continuing making money off of all these and all these teams like Minnesota who get all this money from the all the teams that do make money and then don't do anything with it. So fuck ⁓ I don't give a shit about that stuff. Yeah. speaker-0: ⁓ were there any teams that you guys thought had good deadlines? speaker-2: ⁓ I actually ⁓ I it's hard for me to say whether I think the Mets had a good deadline or not. I know that they did sell, but I just don't think they got the return that they should have gotten off of anything really. Like did they get anybody worth mentioning off of everything that they sold? speaker-0: Yeah. Well, they're they all got prospects like he'd see if they pan out. I mean, I'm gonna be honest, the of the people the Mets gave up, none of those players were gonna bring a top fifty guy. Like they weren't none of them were that good. They really the only thing they truly sold of talent was bullpen. Yogi stopped that. ⁓ speaker-1: That's all I got. speaker-2: I thought you would see a couple of their high paid stars leave and you didn't see it. speaker-0: But they're trying to the thing about the Mets and the Yankees would be in the same boat and the Dodgers would be in the same boat. And the Padres because they're a general manager, but Yankees, Dodgers, and Mets all fall into the category. They can just buy a hole if they need it. Like if they truly need it, they can buy it in free agency. So the Mets aren't gonna trade Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, when if they trade two or three holes, they'll just go and buy those three or four holes. We saw them do it this year. They don't need Bobochette in that lineup, but they needed a short sub, or actually a third baseman, technically. So they just went and bought one. You know, they paid over market for it. I don't think those teams are ever gonna like fire sale when if they just move one or two pieces and then they buy the holes, they still have Juan Soto and Frankie Lindor in there. speaker-1: So I No, I see what Bryce is saying. I did I I thought the Mets would do more too, but I don't I don't think they would sell like Lindor and ⁓ some of those I think they would like to get rid of some of those guys. The problem is I think they're asking what I was reading, they their asking price for anybody was ridiculous. They were just they were trying to get these prospects 'cause they know they had they're what well what they're trying to do is, like you said, they're gonna buy players, but then they're gonna use some of these prospects to get like, you know, go out and get like whoever they need ⁓ later. So ⁓ that That's that that's their problem. The Mets I mean, but the Mets is a disfunctional organization that don't know how to do anything. ⁓ so they d do they have a good die line? No. I mean they got prospects, who gives a crap? ⁓ I thought the Cubs I thought the Cubs did a good job. I thought the Rays did a good job, which sucks. I thought the Rays actually did a good job. ⁓ they got a hitter, they got pitching, they got they got just ⁓ they don't do anything big. They just got things that help them make them help them better. And they're already a good team. And I actually thought Pittsburgh did a decent job. You know, they got they needed bullpen help and I you know, if they can get their stars to actually start hitting and doing things, I thought they did a good job. But I I I don't know if they're gonna make the playoffs or anything, but ⁓ thought they did actually a d underlining decent job. speaker-0: Yeah, I thought San Diego did good. ⁓ they got two deep like solid starters, Robbie Ray and ⁓ Casey Myes there down late and they didn't deal anything from their pen. So they have a really good pitching staff that those bats can just wake up. I like the Phillies deadline as well. Adding the rise into that lineup, it's already paid dividends, but still just a contact hitter in a power lineup. Wish the Yankees would have done something like that. speaker-1: Would have been nice. speaker-0: I like the I mean I like the Cubs. ⁓ they got two starters. Gausman's the question mark. If Gosman's good, I really like it. Cause Clay Holmes, I think, is solid, but Clay Holmes is never gonna be like a ace. But I do like him his fit in Chicago with the defense behind him on a ground ball pitcher. ⁓ but I think Gaussman's been so good, but this year he hasn't been great. So getting back in a winning environment. In Chicago, pitcher friendly, defensive team. Let's see if it helps him. ⁓ 'cause he's got a nasty quarter when he's on speaker-2: He's been talking shit about his previous team. I don't know if you've seen his interviews. He's like, I'm glad to be at an organization that wins, like th there's good fans here. Just I saw people on Twitter that are he came from the Rays, right? ⁓ Blue Jays. Yeah, always get those two teams confused. He and he said, ⁓ speaker-0: No, it came from the original. speaker-2: Wa ⁓ Blue Jays fan was like, I love Kevin Gossman, but at some point you have to stop trashing us. Like I get we were losing, but come on. speaker-0: Well that's kinda crazy 'cause they were two outs away from a world like and the one of the worst nerds on the planet hit home run. Yeah. ⁓ but yeah. I don't think you know who I really thought the losers of the deadline were? speaker-1: World Series, yeah. speaker-0: The Brewers and the Twins. And the Twins aren't losers cause they bought. It's cause they didn't sell anything. The twins had good pieces. The Twins last year did the biggest fire sale in MLB history. They trade like fourteen guys out of twenty-six on the roster. And then this year they go, ⁓ we're b we're we're buyers. And they're four games under five hundred and haven't won since two days before the deadline. Makes it just speaker-1: I saw speaker-0: All those teams in the Central Man are the worst random organizations I've ever seen. And for the Brewers, they had a chance to go get Tyreek Skubel. You know if you pair Tyreek Skubel and Jacob Mizurawski together, you have a chance to beat any team the entire way. Any team. speaker-2: They also could have brought Freddie Peralta back. speaker-0: You're right. Now I'm gonna be honest, I Freddie Perl sucks now. speaker-2: Yeah, but you never know coming back to your home team. speaker-0: No, I I agree. I thought they were going to speaker-1: I think he'll do fine in the Rays 'cause the Rays have a way to turn pitchers around, so speaker-0: They have a chance to go get Scuble. They have a chance to go get Freddie Peralta. They have a chance to go get a lot. They have a lot of good prospects. And they weren't gonna have a g were not gonna have to give up the number one prospect in the sport, Luis Mate, to go get Tyreek Scubil. Obviously, we saw the return. It was one top hundred prospect. Two if you count a 28-year-old rookie, which I don't. speaker-2: Well, the issue with that, and this is what pissed me off about the trade, is that you know you're only getting them as a rental, so are you willing to give up whatever the Dodgers gave up, match it, just for him to go to the Dodgers at the end of the season 'cause you already said he's gonna sign speaker-0: And I and I I see that d point. But if you're not if you're only giving up like one true one hundred prospect and it's not the number one prospect in the sport and it's a number fifty guy, tell me a better chance the Brewers have. Jacob Mizarowski is a top three pitcher in this sport. Dominant. I mean absolutely dominant. Tyreek Skubel is a top five. However you want to put him in the north. speaker-1: Are you sure that the the du the Tigers were not asking for that top prospect? Because what I s what I read that the he was at they were asking for the Yankees to get him and what some other teams were g that what that Detroit was asking was way more than what the Dodgers were giving them to get. speaker-0: Had four outfielders in the top one hundred. They have a number four, five, I don't know what is in the top seven. They have a number ten, and they have like a thirty-two and a fifty, something like that. They didn't ask for the number one. ⁓ Jose DePal. speaker-1: Yeah, I know. I'm I okay, I get what you're saying, but I'm saying for the Yankees they asked for Lombard. They asked for our top players. Do you not sure that you do you sure you d they didn't ask that from the Brewers and then they went to the Dodgers and said, Hey, you know what? We want this guy, this guy, this guy and d and Dodgers like okay. Well I mean this is who they asked for. speaker-0: There's no way that the brewers would go to the Tigers and they would say, We want Scoobyl, and they go, We want your number one prospect, and then the brewers go, Well we're not doing that, and then they hint up the phone when they just called the Dodgers and they didn't get either of their top three prospects. speaker-1: Well, I mean, how do you know what they asked for? 'Cause that's the question, 'cause that was whatever I keep reading. Is ⁓ d how do you know what they they could have said, hey, we want we want our number two prospect or whatever. I don't know. I don't I just know what he's to do the same spot as the other guy. I don't know. You know, the Brewers are in situations where they n they just maybe like you said, they it's a rental. I mean I just from what they asked for the Yankees, I'm just gonna w I know what they asked for the Yankees. Yeah. They a they asked for Lombard, Spencer Jones. speaker-0: Could've gave the number two. speaker-1: And why you know, and we said no, and they wouldn't even give us a second offer. So and then they went to the Dodgers and got this shitty ass offer. So I don't where was the disconnect? So I don't you know I just don't know what the Dodgers were try or Detroit was trying to sorry, it was trying to do at that point. speaker-0: Yeah. Only go off rankings. We know we don't know what any of these players are gonna be. Ranking wise, Lombard is about what what they got. They he I think Lombard's like was like twenty something, and I think they got like thirty something. So I mean it's relatively close. But going from like thirty something to the number one in the sport is a big jump. When the Dodgers have number seven, they didn't get ⁓ Number ten, they didn't get ⁓ So to say that ⁓ you had to send a top ten prospect, well, it's not true. Now I'm not saying that the Dodgers didn't want that, but I don't know. I just think if the I'm not maybe they just didn't want the Brewers players. That also could be a thing. I'm not just only blaming the Brewers because they didn't get ⁓ but they should have tried. They should have done everything in their power, in my opinion. But even if okay, you miss on Tyreek Scuble. It happens. You don't always get every player you want. speaker-1: Yeah, I don't know. speaker-0: Their alternate was Dustin May of the St. Louis Cardinals, which is just underwhelming to me. Who, again, is a rental, free agent at the end of the year. So I just didn't like their deadline. They got him and Jojo Romero, and I don't think they got anyone else. Like that was the only two players they got. speaker-2: That was wi that one was weird to me too, that the Cardinals would trade ⁓ in the division like that. speaker-1: No one cares about that anymore. That that that end division in in the division thing, no one cares anymore. It's about I mean, because we're getting to the point where we're just gonna have one American league and one national league and it's just gonna get yeah, that's all we're gonna have. We're gonna get to that point because no one gives a shit about you know, hey, you can't trade with your rivals anymore. I mean even like even Cubs and Cardinals will do it. Yankees and Bred Sox will trade are trading. It's just re it's not the it's a different different way than what it used to be. speaker-0: Alright, we don't have to keep talking about this deadline, but yeah. speaker-1: I mean Bryce, you said somebody lost. Who'd you say? I couldn't quite hear speaker-2: I said I thought the Yankees lost. speaker-1: I don't even want to get in that. ⁓ that's that that's not even that's not even qu yeah, we that's ⁓ easily a yes. No, I mean. speaker-0: Players they got. I'll give them that. Like I like both of them, but they didn't they did not address their true needs. And again, I'm not bl I don't blame them completely because once Adley was off the board, the twins didn't sell anyone. All they did was buy. Ryan Jeffers was not available. And who was the third catcher? ⁓ Liam Hicks. Left-handed bat. And sure, would it be an upgrade over Austin Wells? Yes, I do agree. We didn't need another left-handed bat, so I don't blame them not going after that. They didn't have a lot of options after that. So speaker-1: I I no I don't give a shit about the catching situation. Mine was the really ⁓ bullpen. Everybody can say we're number one bullpen. We just struggle we struggle all the time. ⁓ I agree. ⁓ we've we've our starting pitching is probably one of the better ones in baseball, and our bullpen is bad. And the my question we have so many top prospecting pitchers in the in the minor leagues that are blocked because you're I mean we have so many guys under contract for the next five freaking years. Trade some of them away for a couple bullpen species. I mean, at least get something to help your team. ⁓ I I and we get the the same old we get the same answer every time. Asking price was too high, we just didn't feel like they were the right piece. I mean Brian Casmer says I think he just might as well just put on record because that's what he says every damn trade deadline. Yeah. And it just drives me nuts. ⁓ speaker-0: I know what the Yankees are gonna do. They're gonna do the same thing as the Dodgers have been doing the last couple of years. They're just gonna turn all their starters into bullpins for the playoffs. Ryan Weathers, he'll be he will not start one game in the playoffs. ⁓ Will Warren will not start one game in the playoffs. And I honestly, I don't speaker-1: ⁓ no you won't. Yeah. Well they brought they brought Will Warren out of the bullpen right before the all star break. speaker-0: gonna move the bullpen. So it's gonna be like your two or three guys you trust, Bednar, Cruz, Hedrick, and then starters. That's that's all it's gonna be. So get the bullpen better than it is now? I do. I do yeah, I do. Because some of those bullpen arms are just terrible. But speaker-2: I think the colour. The best about the Cubs getting all these pitchers is we also have a ton of pitchers on the aisle and most of them are starters. So we're gonna be getting Ben Brown back, possibly Justin Steele, Edward Cabrera and ⁓ Cade Horton. I'm not sure when they come back, but I don't think it's this season. Edward Cabrera could be back by the end of the season. Who? speaker-0: I thought Kate Horton had Tommy John. speaker-2: Yeah, he did. He won't be back this season. But I think Edward Cabrero will be back at the end of the season. speaker-1: Yeah, Edward Kaber. Edwin Kabara has always been hurt. That's the one that's always hurt. speaker-2: If he can live in the bullpen he'll probably be fine. Yeah. I I speaker-0: Yeah, you know. speaker-1: Yeah. I mean you probably I mean that's your best chance of keeping him healthy. speaker-0: I mean Kate Orton won't play next. speaker-2: I don't know if you saw how he got injured, but it was literally him covering first base and like tore his hamstring. So speaker-0: ⁓ Stanton's missed the entire year 'cause he ran eight miles an hour around in second. ⁓ speaker-1: But it I mean. ⁓ but he he's he's our he's coming back and he's our savior. ⁓ we can't hit we can't score a goddamn run. But yeah, we're we've got ⁓ St Stan comeback who can't even open a catch up bottle and then a ⁓ Judge who still fucking can't even do anything run with a broken back. So, you know what? I I want this this is the prime example of the Yankees. We won't fire anybody. We'll just continue to be this the s the Same old way, hey, we're just gonna be average, not like we used to be. We don't develop anybody but pitching. We could somehow ⁓ maybe Lombard, not but she's looking really good, but ⁓ yeah we'll probably f we'll but we'll fuck that up somehow. We'll what we'll do, we'll probably send him back down here because ⁓ Volpe will probably hit about four hundred and triple A and and then we'll just send him back down because ⁓ we got confident Fuck ⁓ you nice you got me all fucking pissed off at the fucking Yankees. Fucking just stupid. speaker-2: came in, had a great game. After the game, Boone immediately starts talking about, yeah, he's probably gonna rotate speaker-1: But Volpe got sent down. No, Volpe got sent down. So there's there he'll be he'll he'll play the ⁓ in his days off I'll get probably Caballero. ⁓ which I still I'd just let Lombard do it. I mean I don't care. I think you learn I think you di speaker-2: No way. speaker-0: I mean he he's gonna speaker-1: My thing is let these young guys just run because ⁓ they you learn more by playing, let them make mistakes, it's you know, build confidence them. Even if they mess up, there's a way to build confidence. I mean, Derek Jeter had the most errors as in his rookie season and look what he turned out to be. Just let ⁓ play. Quit sending ⁓ up and down, up and down, up and down. Who gives a shit about that stuff? speaker-0: Well they let Vulpi play for four years, so ⁓ speaker-1: Hey, does Cubs need a shortstop? You guys sure you can dec decl we can tell we'll we'll just sit hey, I will give ⁓ to you for I don't know, give me the I B in the outfield. You can fucking have Volpey. speaker-2: ⁓ okay. speaker-0: ⁓ I was talking to somebody today at work and they were asking me ⁓ what I think the Yankees will do about shortstop. George Lombard Jr., if he hits a one hundred as a career average, will be there for the next five years because he is a he's a he looks like a platinum glove winner at short. A damn speaker-1: Well he's got he he's he's very agile, he's got range, and he's he's lanky. That's not Volpe. He Volpe was a second baseman from very from the day he got called up I said he was second baseman. He's just that's speaker-0: said to my friend today, I said, I don't care if George Lombard doesn't hit a lick of his entire career. Anthony Volpe has played his last inning as a New York Yankee. He won't I do not truly think he'll come back up the rest of the season triple A to try to build a value. And in the off season when we start baseball again in twenty seven or twenty eight, he speaker-1: ⁓ yeah. No, not this year. You don't think that y so so they moved him to second. He started the other night in second base. You don't s I c I can see a scenario. I'm not kidding. Just because I know how the fucking Yankees work. Jazz the free agent after this year, letting him go and bringing Volpe up to play second. Because that's how stup that's how stupid they fucking are. That's how stupid Cashman is. I could just see it. speaker-0: No, I don't I didn't I think Andrew Wolby's played his last inning at it. speaker-2: We have a walkout and I have to miss a year of watching P. Crow Armstrong play baseball, it's gonna be really bad. speaker-0: Hate to break it to you. I do research on some of this stuff. There's not a chance in the world we play a game before the all-star break next year. Zero. Now I speaker-1: It's gonna happen. None. Sure. I think early August you'll see a shortened season, kinda like in twenty twenty. That's what I that's where I'm seeing. speaker-0: But it won't happen. They won't even start talking till like January or February. And then it'll be like, ⁓ we have a month. ⁓ we didn't get it done. It's there's no chance. I personally think it'll be all year, but if it's like half a season, I could see that because once they start missing checks and missing games, that's when people are gonna get on the clock. But there's too big of problems right now. They w they won't. speaker-1: Too big gap. ⁓ speaker-0: And the problem is the owners don't have a good argument right now because all the small teams are doing good. So like the Rays, the White So well, White Sox really aren't that small technically, but Cleveland, ⁓ they're just it's no good argument for ⁓ But all right. To miscellaneous, Roy. speaker-1: Alright, so I got a couple questions for you guys. Let me see which one I want to do first. I know how much you love these, Josh. Alright. No no logo this time. I am going to give you you can only have two strikes total on this. Okay? In major league baseball, there are six major league franchises that started in a city and have never left that city. speaker-0: Damn logo shit. speaker-1: What what are the six? speaker-0: Yeah. Six MLB franchises that have never moved. speaker-2: Pam, I'm ch I don't think it can it has to be the newer teams. speaker-0: That's what I'm thinking. speaker-1: Camp of sixteens. Hold on, my intermed went out. No, I think my phone speaker-0: Yon's moving the satellites get on ya. speaker-1: Probably. speaker-2: Josh the ⁓ the rays. Maybe speaker-1: Okay. I don't know because they nope, so the Rays is not one of ⁓ 'Cause the Rays have moved pr they're in Saint P they're in Saint Petersburg. They went from Tampa to Saint Pet they they have moved. speaker-0: They've never that the r same stadium they opened when they made it. speaker-1: I know this that's what they're saying. There's six franchises that have never moved their city. You gotta think about original ones. speaker-0: All the original ones moved. See to me, the Mets have never moved. See, are you cities? speaker-1: The Mets or cities. You're I'm talking you're talking cities. The Mets have moved cities. Yeah, where they from but they're in the Queens. They were they always in the Queens. You gotta think about cities, boroughs, where they were in where they started and where they've been. Like I'll give you a hint. The Yankees are not one of ⁓ because they started in Washington. speaker-0: I already knew the Yankees moved ones. have the Cubs ever moved rice? speaker-2: See, that's what I don't know, 'cause back whenever it was whatever in the eighteen hundreds. speaker-1: The Cubs is one of them. Yes, they were founded in eighteen seventy six and have not moved Chicago from Chicago. speaker-2: I wanna say like the reds, but I feel like speaker-1: The Reds have not moved, yes. They were found in nineteen eight or eighteen eighty two and have not moved from set Cincinnati. speaker-0: I have a theme. Cardinals. speaker-1: The Cardinals is one of ⁓ nineteen eighteen ninety two. They were found, they have not left Saint Louis. speaker-0: The pirates. speaker-1: The Pittsburgh Pirates have were founded in eighteen eighty seven and not and have not moved Pittsburgh. speaker-2: Make the brewers too. speaker-0: I actually lean no, but I'm gonna say it just for the fact that what's all speaker-2: Actually I do I think it's yes. I I saw something on this. It's yes. They have not moved. speaker-1: The brewers have moved. They were not in Milwaukee they're starting out with. They are not on the list. speaker-2: They were founded in a town full of breweries. speaker-1: No, gotta think the Milwaukee's first team was the Braves. That's right. And moved to Atlanta. And then another franchise moved into from wherever to the Brewers, to Milwaukee. speaker-2: What about Boston? What do you think, Josh? It's like the oldest part. speaker-0: Dave moved, but man, that's an old fucking stadium. speaker-1: Don't think about stadiums because speaker-0: But still trying to think. I I think they've moved. speaker-1: You have two more wait one, two, you have three more. Think of the same same think think central. Cent ⁓ not central, like think Midwest. speaker-0: Indians, guardians. Where the fuck have they been? speaker-1: Clevel nope, Cleveland is not one of ⁓ I'd have to look at the I'll give you this one. The White Sox is one of them. The Chicago Access were found in nineteen ⁓ one. I've not left Chicago. speaker-2: White socks, but I just don't I've been thinking the white sockets. speaker-1: One's central, one's little east. speaker-0: Yeah, I know it's not speaker-2: How many more do we speaker-1: Two. speaker-2: Like we would name ten. speaker-1: We've missed a bunch of ⁓ I'll give you that one. Philadelphia Phillies, yes. They were founded in eighteen eighty three in Philadelphia and have never left Philadelphia. One more. It's a centrally located team. The Royals was not the Royals started somewhere else. Kansas City used to be the athletics. I thought. Or was that Minnesota? No, another franchise moved in to can from can wherever to the Kansas City, that's the Royals. Mm. speaker-0: Started speaker-1: Gotta be a same division. speaker-0: Guardians, White Sox, Detroit Tigers. speaker-1: The Detroit Tigers were founded in nineteen ⁓ one in Detroit and have never left Detroit. speaker-2: Detrick. speaker-1: Alright, so yeah. That was hard. I mean that one's hard. Alright, here Hey, I gotta think of the old ones. Alright. Josh, some of them before the night. So now listen th this one's gonna be tough for you guys. This is a geography question. speaker-0: Hey, I have a geography minor, Roy, you know that speaker-1: Alright, we'll see if you can how good you are. Alright. Name the top the ten most northern most teams in the major league baseball. You only get two misses. speaker-0: Okay, I can misses that this is a fair answer. The number one is Toronto. speaker-1: Toronto is not number one, they're number three. speaker-2: I would say speaker-0: Seattle's in there. speaker-1: Seattle is number one, it is the northernmost team. speaker-2: Fun fact, did you know that there's more US citizens that live farther north than Canadians? speaker-1: Yes, 'cause most of ⁓ live in just out next by Detroit. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. I don't know. speaker-1: Yeah, south of from Toronto south is is where eighty percent of the f ⁓ or not eighty like seventy percent of the people live. Yeah. ⁓ in Canada. speaker-0: Boss did. speaker-1: Boston is number six. speaker-0: Man, they're that low? Holy I thought they'd be like two or four. there's nothing north of Austin in that corner, so. speaker-2: I think Milwaukee and ⁓ New York are off or two. speaker-0: Well New New York is below Boston. So if Boston was six, New York is either seven, eight, nine, or ten or off. speaker-1: What do you which which one you're going with? speaker-0: Milwaukee I like. speaker-1: Milwaukee is number four. Milwaukee's number four. speaker-2: I think Detroit and Detroit. speaker-0: Detroit. speaker-1: Detroit is number five. speaker-0: I mean, what is two? Yeah, Cincinnati's way too low. speaker-2: I Cincinnati's probably lower. speaker-1: No strikes yet. You got two, six, seven, eight, and nine left. What's the Sorry, two. Two two seven eight nine ten. Sorry. Two seven eight nine ten. speaker-0: I mean Cleveland's probably higher on the list because they're at the very tip top of Ohio. But I'm trying to think eastwise what what could be over there? You know, I don't hate the guests in New York's. You wanna do the Yankees ro Bryce? Yankees. Wow. Damn. If I I know my geography. The Queens is ⁓ man, I don't know. The Le Bronx is speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: Yankees is number ten. speaker-0: I think the Queens is lower than the Bronx on a map. At least the map in New York it is, I know that. I don't know if it's that speaker-1: You look at the map in New York and you just turn it and it's gonna be high. speaker-0: I don't know which way it is, but I know normally the map I look at is south of it. ⁓ How far up is ⁓ Philadelphia, Josh? Philly's i I'm thinking all those teams up there. I think Pittsburgh is more north than Philly, but it might be really close. I d I like the guess of Philadelphia. That might that's a good baseline. Philly. speaker-1: ⁓ Philly is not of it on the top ten. One more strike. So you've got number two you still need. speaker-0: I know, that's the one that's killing me. speaker-1: And I can't believe you haven't guessed sett ⁓ Minnesota's number two. So you need seven, eight, and nine, and they're all pretty close together. I'll give you a hint on that one. speaker-0: Josh, do you think Chicago? speaker-2: Chicago's up there? Chicago Hmm. didn't think about Illinois. Cubs and Yeah, let's go Cubs and White Sox. We'll just go Cubs first. speaker-0: Cubs are north of Chicago, so I like the Cubs more than the White Sox. speaker-1: Okay. Are you going with it? speaker-0: They're above I think that's above Yeah, I actually don't mind that guess. Go Cubs. speaker-1: Cubs is number seven. speaker-0: Sox is probably on there then. speaker-1: The White Sox is number eight. So all you need is number nine. speaker-0: So we're below that. Man, my gut is telling me either Pittsburgh or the Mets. speaker-2: It's d there's no way. It would have to be the Mets. speaker-1: I think you're missing one. You talked about team, but you never guessed them. speaker-0: Probably Cleveland. That's the other one I'm debating. speaker-2: Yeah, it's probably speaker-0: Cleveland? Man, but if what are the Yankees? ⁓ yeah, that's right. I th I like Cleveland more than I like the Mets. The one I'm I'm between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Those are the two. My gut tells me Cleveland is higher. Cleveland speaker-1: They were ten. speaker-2: That's was saying. Two one. speaker-1: Cleveland is I shouldn't never said anything. Cleveland's number nine. I should've let you go with Pittsburgh or the Mets. Yeah, I mean Pittsburgh is actually Pittsburgh is like w is quite a bit s so farther south than Cleveland. Philly? No, Philly no, Philly's south of Pittsburgh. Philly is right then. Philly is fa south of Pittsburgh. ⁓ yeah, and the Queens is south of for the Bronx. It is. speaker-0: Yeah, I was right. I knew I've always seen that map. I was thinking in my head, because I always stay in Manhattan, ⁓ the Queens is north, and I was ⁓ wait, the Bronx is even more north. speaker-1: Yep. What did you say, Bronx? Right? speaker-2: you would see Mets Stadium as we flew into New York. speaker-1: Well it depends on where you go. I LaGuardia is right by Met Stadium. Yeah. J F K J F K you wouldn't sell either one of So there's my questions. I thought you I've just seen how good a geography you guys were. ⁓ Look at that. I'm a yeah, I love it. I when I saw that I had to ask, so speaker-0: Okay. Rice, you got anything? Later a game, but we don't have to do it tonight. We're already at forty-five minutes. Okay. Next week we will do NFL divisions. Haven't decided on which two yet. We'll we'll throw ⁓ in. We'll probably do would you guys rather go two divisions on the NFC or would you rather do like a North NFC North and then speaker-2: I mean I have our the same place. speaker-1: Do one on one. Do the do that. Do one AFC, one NFC. Okay. speaker-0: Yep, we'll we'll do it that way. So we'll ⁓ east or west. Pick one. No, let's do west. Cowboys are east. I want to start with my division. Let's do east. speaker-1: What's due east? Let's do east, so just so start with the cowboys and stuff. That's fine. I don't give a shit. ⁓ yeah, we're gonna have guests with ⁓ teams or their team. speaker-0: guests for a team, bring ⁓ on. speaker-2: huge Seahawks fan that I coached with. speaker-0: I also have a Seahawks fan who's going to a Seahawks game with me this year. Yeah. It will be in attendance. Hit the like button, subscribe, comment. We'll see you next week. Peace. Don't leave yet, Roy. speaker-1: All right.
