- 0:05Speaker 1: Hello, everybody, and welcome to a live and brand new
- 0:08Speaker 1: edition of Foul Territory. Alongside Todd Frazier, Eric Kratz, I
- 0:14Speaker 1: am Alana Rizzo. Great to be with you guys tonight. Well,
- 0:17Speaker 1: it is all set in terms of the division series.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We are on to the division series. Gentlemen, we're going
- 0:23Speaker 1: to get into this game between the Phillies and the Braves. momentarily.
- 0:28Speaker 1: The Phillies, they are done. They are going to Cancun.
- 0:31Speaker 1: The Braves, they advanced. Check out the merch, all of
- 0:34Speaker 1: the fresh merch designs, including player license gear, foulterritorieshop.com.
- 0:41Speaker 2: There it is.
- 0:41Speaker 1: This is the only series that went to three games,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and it is the Braves that make it interesting. They
- 0:49Speaker 1: are the ones that are moving on. The Phillies, They
- 0:52Speaker 1: have a lot to think about going into next season.
- 0:55Speaker 1: All right, let's get to it.
- 0:56Speaker 3: It's a full count.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It is time for full count fueled by marathon. The
- 1:07Speaker 1: Braves beat the Phillies, gentlemen, 6-2. They advance to the
- 1:11Speaker 1: NLDS to face now the Los Angeles Dodgers that have
- 1:15Speaker 1: been waiting to see who they were going to play.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Good to be with you guys tonight. Scott Braun will
- 1:20Speaker 1: be back, of course. First of all, your thought, Todd,
- 1:24Speaker 1: we'll start with you. We'll start with you, Todd Father.
- 1:27Speaker 1: In terms of this game three of what you thought
- 1:29Speaker 1: between the Braves and the Phillies, what's your biggest takeaway?
- 1:33Speaker 4: My biggest takeaway would be Zach Wheeler. Understandably, one of
- 1:38Speaker 4: the best pitchers in baseball. Why did this guy not start?
- 1:41Speaker 4: It's one of those things that are going to second guess.
- 1:44Speaker 4: From here on out, you saw how good he did.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I know he gave up the two-run home run to Albies.
- 1:50Speaker 4: This is a guy that if you were going to
- 1:51Speaker 4: throw him, why not start him right off the bat?
- 1:56Speaker 4: That's going to be a thing that Don Mattingly really
- 1:59Speaker 4: has to think about, what could have, should have, and
- 2:01Speaker 4: would have been done. Yeah, that's my biggest takeaway from
- 2:05Speaker 4: the whole thing, but give credit to the Braves coming out,
- 2:08Speaker 4: Michael Harris Jr., absolutely crushing a ball for a three-run
- 2:12Speaker 4: home run, pretty much putting the game away, as you saw.
- 2:16Speaker 4: And that's what the Braves do. They played a really
- 2:18Speaker 4: well game, and I'll let Kratzy talk about his favorite
- 2:21Speaker 4: player there. But, yes, overall, great game by the Braves.
- 2:25Speaker 4: But Zach Wheeler, why didn't he start the game?
- 2:28Speaker 5: He's the guy. He needed him there. So that's the
- 2:30Speaker 5: one takeaway I have.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I disagree.
- 2:33Speaker 6: I don't think he should have started because he wasn't
- 2:35Speaker 6: going to give you as many innings as you needed.
- 2:38Speaker 6: And Nola was going to have to come in at
- 2:40Speaker 6: some point. If you bring him in and that's, if
- 2:42Speaker 6: you start him, you say, Hey, we're going to, we're
- 2:46Speaker 6: going to get what we can get out of you.
- 2:47Speaker 6: I mean, you saw it was a quick hook. And
- 2:50Speaker 6: if you start Wheeler bringing Nola in later, but either way,
- 2:54Speaker 6: they got to score more than the other team, more
- 2:56Speaker 6: than they let in. Wheeler was dominant to me, Chris
- 3:00Speaker 6: sale coming out 37 year old, like, Just coming out
- 3:04Speaker 6: of the pen, shutting the game down.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I know he gave up a run. It's okay.
- 3:08Speaker 6: I just don't want to bring it back up if
- 3:12Speaker 6: his next start doesn't go well. I know it's a
- 3:14Speaker 6: side day. I just, this vaunted bullpen for the Braves. Like,
- 3:20Speaker 6: Rysel Iglesias couldn't throw three?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Three in a row? I get it's a 6-1 game
- 3:26Speaker 3: at the time, two.
- 3:28Speaker 6: Anyway, it was impressive that he was out there.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I don't want it to come back on him at all.
- 3:34Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:34Speaker 1: But do you think it was a side session day?
- 3:37Speaker 1: You figure what is today?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Thursday.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You figure that Chris sales started on Tuesday. So it
- 3:41Speaker 1: was likely a bullpen day, a side session day. But so, Eric,
- 3:45Speaker 1: I'll circle back to you on that. This was probably
- 3:49Speaker 1: just a time in which he was going to throw
- 3:50Speaker 1: aside anyway. So let's bring him out of the pen
- 3:53Speaker 1: and get this locked down. So that's my number one question.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Was it a side session for him? And also, I mean,
- 3:59Speaker 1: were the Phillies just already coming into this thing a
- 4:04Speaker 1: little bit handcuffed just based on kind of limping into
- 4:08Speaker 1: this wild card based on how the end of the
- 4:10Speaker 1: regular season went for them in terms of their pitching
- 4:12Speaker 1: and how they had to kind of like line everybody up?
- 4:16Speaker 6: If the Phillies ended up winning this game, it would
- 4:18Speaker 6: have been like, wow, miraculous, team came together, all those stories.
- 4:23Speaker 6: The Phillies lost this game probably... five to six days ago.
- 4:28Speaker 6: I'm trying to think which day in the Brewers series.
- 4:32Speaker 3: I think they had loaded.
- 4:33Speaker 6: They didn't strike out a bunch against Logan Henderson, but
- 4:35Speaker 6: I think they put up like one run in the game,
- 4:38Speaker 6: lost four to one on a cold night in Philly.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Like to me, all those losses down the stretch and
- 4:44Speaker 6: every loss is the same, but the fact that you
- 4:46Speaker 6: had to throw Zach Wheeler in game one 62 is
- 4:52Speaker 6: cost you this game. Because you saw what Zach Wheeler
- 4:55Speaker 6: was doing. You saw what Todd just talked about. And
- 4:59Speaker 6: I think it enabled this team or it enabled the
- 5:02Speaker 6: Braves to not have to beat your best three. To
- 5:06Speaker 6: not have to beat, you know, your best three, full rest,
- 5:10Speaker 6: everything a go.
- 5:12Speaker 3: And you know what?
- 5:13Speaker 6: They're going to be kicking themselves. Every loss put that
- 5:16Speaker 6: in the season, put them in that spot. So you
- 5:19Speaker 6: can't say it was game 161, game 159, anything like that.
- 5:23Speaker 6: It was the fact that he had to throw in
- 5:25Speaker 6: game 162 is, in my opinion, why they weren't able
- 5:29Speaker 6: to throw out their one superpower, which is their starting
- 5:32Speaker 6: pitching tonight.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So the Braves are NLDS bound versus the Los Angeles Dodgers,
- 5:38Speaker 1: who have been waiting with watch parties to see Todd Frazier,
- 5:43Speaker 1: who they are going to play.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Let me ask you this.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Before Don Mattingly became the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies,
- 5:51Speaker 1: Dave Dombrowski had asked Alex Cora if he wanted to
- 5:54Speaker 1: take over when Rob Thompson left. was fired in the
- 5:58Speaker 1: middle of the season, really at the beginning of the season.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Alex Cora said, I'm going to wait and not take
- 6:03Speaker 1: over a hot mess express. Don Mattingly took over. They
- 6:07Speaker 1: made it into the postseason. Is this the last we
- 6:10Speaker 1: see as Donnie baseball managing?
- 6:13Speaker 2: What's your opinion on that?
- 6:14Speaker 5: I hope not.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I like Don Mattingly. I think he's very smart. I
- 6:21Speaker 4: think he understands the game. He's a player's coach. For me,
- 6:25Speaker 4: I haven't heard much. bad about the guy, to be
- 6:28Speaker 4: honest with you. I've known him over the years through
- 6:32Speaker 4: playing the game and talking to him before games in L.A.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Love having conversations with him. I brought up something back
- 6:39Speaker 4: in the day when I went and saw a game.
- 6:41Speaker 5: He remembered. I said, I saw you hit a home run.
- 6:43Speaker 5: You won one night.
- 6:44Speaker 4: He remembered the pitcher, the pitch, the time of day.
- 6:47Speaker 4: It was kind of crazy. You know how baseball minds are.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I hope not.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I think he deserves to be a manager. I think
- 6:54Speaker 4: he wants to. I think he's yearning to get that
- 6:57Speaker 4: ring that's been haunting him for so long now. I
- 7:03Speaker 4: think he deserves a chance, and we'll see if he
- 7:06Speaker 4: does get that chance.
- 7:08Speaker 6: I don't know if he wants to or not. Obviously,
- 7:10Speaker 6: he's got to make that decision. Before the season, he
- 7:12Speaker 6: even said, eh, I don't know if I.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Want to manage.
- 7:16Speaker 6: And so that's why the bench coach role was great.
- 7:19Speaker 6: But you know what? if you don't eat ice cream
- 7:21Speaker 6: for a long time and then you get a taste
- 7:23Speaker 6: of ice cream, you're like, I really, really like that.
- 7:26Speaker 6: Like it's one of those things that maybe he gets to,
- 7:30Speaker 6: he gets to itch again.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Would he be good back in Philly? Clearly, obviously. Cora
- 7:36Speaker 3: be good in Philly? Clearly.
- 7:38Speaker 6: I think, I think teams can, you know, if, if
- 7:42Speaker 6: the Phillies are looking elsewhere, if Dombrowski wants to have,
- 7:46Speaker 6: you know, the guy that he trusts in that situation
- 7:49Speaker 6: and that guy's Cora, I don't think it's anything against
- 7:52Speaker 6: Don Mattingly. And if Mattingly wants to be back, I
- 7:55Speaker 6: don't think there's anything wrong with bringing him back. I
- 7:57Speaker 6: think the players clearly respect him. And I think you'll
- 8:02Speaker 6: have a better year. You'll have different– is this still
- 8:06Speaker 6: a good team? They just had some flaws that came
- 8:11Speaker 6: out throughout the year that you wonder how they're going
- 8:14Speaker 6: to be able to address those for the offseason. But
- 8:16Speaker 6: we've got a long offseason to take care of that stuff.
- 8:19Speaker 1: We're not getting to the offseason yet. A lot of
- 8:21Speaker 1: baseball left to be played. Let's go back in terms
- 8:24Speaker 1: of this game itself. Guys, let's take you back to
- 8:27Speaker 1: the first inning. Obviously, a couple of things in this
- 8:31Speaker 1: inning that were interesting. Obviously, bottom of the first, Harris
- 8:34Speaker 1: with the three-run home run off of Aranola. That made
- 8:36Speaker 1: it 3-0 Atlanta. But then Ronald Acuna's ABS challenge.
- 8:42Speaker 2: So let's talk about that first.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want to give credit– to AJ
- 8:47Speaker 1: Pierzynski ever, but honestly, he deserves credit in this one
- 8:50Speaker 1: because he did say, AJ did, that he was betting
- 8:54Speaker 1: on Michael Harris II in the big moment, and he
- 8:57Speaker 1: was absolutely right. AJ said he just thinks that he
- 9:00Speaker 1: has a knack to do something cool, and I don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: have a reason for that, other than I just think
- 9:04Speaker 1: throughout his career, he's done a lot of cool stuff.
- 9:06Speaker 2: In big moments. This was a big moment, the biggest
- 9:08Speaker 2: moment ever, guys.
- 9:10Speaker 1: So What do you make of Michael Harris II going yard?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Not only going yard, AJ, or excuse me, Todd, with
- 9:18Speaker 1: AJ's prediction, it wasn't even a solo shot, a three-run
- 9:21Speaker 1: home run that really, I mean, that was the dagger.
- 9:23Speaker 2: That was it. That's all they needed.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, what a great prediction by him, honestly.
- 9:29Speaker 4: You give the guy credit where it's due. That ABS challenge,
- 9:33Speaker 4: I think that's something that's going to really go unnoticed.
- 9:36Speaker 4: That kind of kick-started them. A ball right there, a striker.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Might change the whole of that. And all of a sudden,
- 9:42Speaker 4: Nola gets back into where he needs to be. It's
- 9:45Speaker 4: a big challenge. It's a smart challenge. It's a scary challenge, too.
- 9:48Speaker 4: It's the first inning. You don't want to lose that
- 9:50Speaker 4: right away. He ends up getting the walk. Another walk
- 9:53Speaker 4: comes next. And then, boom, Harris comes up with a ball.
- 9:57Speaker 4: It looked like it was going to hit him in
- 9:58Speaker 4: the foot if it was any closer or anything. more
- 10:00Speaker 4: down lift, separate three, nothing wheels spinning already. And now
- 10:06Speaker 4: all of a sudden you're, I mean, you're in the,
- 10:08Speaker 4: you're in the eight hole, man. You're in the box
- 10:10Speaker 4: while they're trying to figure out how to get out
- 10:13Speaker 4: and how to, you know, score some runs. And it
- 10:15Speaker 4: just seems like, You know, the next thing I go
- 10:18Speaker 4: to that back to the top of the first to
- 10:19Speaker 4: shore with the line drive to the left. I thought
- 10:21Speaker 4: that was great. I'm like, here we go for Kerr.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, boy, what's going to happen? He gets
- 10:26Speaker 4: a big strike out on Harper, kind of breeze, a
- 10:29Speaker 4: sigh of relief there. So that first inning was huge
- 10:32Speaker 4: on both sides, both for the Phillies and the Braves.
- 10:34Speaker 4: But Harris with the home run, he gets two double
- 10:36Speaker 4: plays yesterday in the late innings and comes back.
- 10:39Speaker 5: And that's why baseball is such a beautiful sport.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Kratzy, Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies, Matt Olsen, they all
- 10:47Speaker 1: homer in this victory for the Braves in a must-win game.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Is this who Atlanta is? Are they a slugging team?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Is that how we should look at them when they
- 10:57Speaker 1: face the Dodgers? Was this just the way they played today,
- 11:00Speaker 1: or is this what we should expect moving forward in
- 11:03Speaker 1: the NLDS?
- 11:05Speaker 3: If you expect them to win, yes. Then this is
- 11:07Speaker 3: what they're going to do.
- 11:10Speaker 6: The ball at night, in LA isn't going to quite
- 11:12Speaker 6: travel the same as it does in Atlanta. So it'll
- 11:15Speaker 6: be interesting to see if these guys can, you know,
- 11:19Speaker 6: do the same thing they did tonight, but really like
- 11:22Speaker 6: Michael Harris, the second, the season he had this year,
- 11:25Speaker 6: if you, if you go back and look at what
- 11:27Speaker 6: he's done since his rookie year, when he was rookie
- 11:30Speaker 6: of the year, I think he was like a top
- 11:32Speaker 6: 15 MVP voting to that year. Like he hasn't had
- 11:36Speaker 6: a season like that until this year. So for him
- 11:39Speaker 6: to culminate that with, not so great game last night.
- 11:44Speaker 6: And then a great game tonight. Like it's one of
- 11:46Speaker 6: those things that you say, okay, this guy, this guy's
- 11:49Speaker 6: ready to go. And it's, it's a piece that this
- 11:51Speaker 6: lineup needs the Braves lineup needs, but are they going
- 11:53Speaker 6: to slug a ton?
- 11:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:56Speaker 6: They're going to face, they're going to face a tick better,
- 11:59Speaker 6: much more rested rotation, bullpen in the, in the Dodgers
- 12:05Speaker 6: that may be able to exploit these guys, but there is,
- 12:11Speaker 6: Todd will say it all the time, and I'm probably
- 12:13Speaker 6: taking the words out of his mouth. This team is
- 12:15Speaker 6: riding the hot hand. This team is playing. The Dodgers
- 12:18Speaker 6: have been sitting. Might be good for their pitching staff,
- 12:21Speaker 6: but how is it for their lineup?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the Dodgers offense has been kind of
- 12:26Speaker 1: cold for a lot of the season, if we want
- 12:30Speaker 1: to be honest. So, Frazier, I want to ask you this.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Is this the end of an era for the Philadelphia Phillies?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean, you think about the lineup that they have.
- 12:40Speaker 1: You talk about Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Trey Turner, JT
- 12:44Speaker 1: Real Mutu, all of these big names. And you think
- 12:47Speaker 1: like the window might be closing on this club. You
- 12:50Speaker 1: can't think the complexion of the team is going to
- 12:53Speaker 1: be the same in 2000.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Let's hope there's a season.
- 12:55Speaker 1: 2027, as it was in 2026.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Was this the time to get it done?
- 13:02Speaker 4: Well, I give the example. And, you know, I think
- 13:05Speaker 4: there's a better example to have. But the Mets, they
- 13:07Speaker 4: got how a lot of the they got rid of Nemo.
- 13:10Speaker 4: They got rid of McNeil. They didn't bring back Edwin.
- 13:12Speaker 4: They didn't bring back the polar bear. And look where
- 13:15Speaker 4: they are now. I like this team. I still do.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I know they are not winning. I like veteran guys.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I don't see how you can't try and keep most
- 13:25Speaker 4: of these guys and still ride that wave. I mean,
- 13:30Speaker 4: who else? Honestly, who else right now is better than
- 13:34Speaker 4: some of these guys? In my opinion, not that many.
- 13:37Speaker 4: And I think it is a good group.
- 13:40Speaker 5: I think.
- 13:41Speaker 4: They need to solidify a manager really quick, first and foremost,
- 13:45Speaker 4: what they want to do. And then they can kind
- 13:47Speaker 4: of figure out where they go from there. There's going
- 13:50Speaker 4: to be a lot of questions. I think you got
- 13:52Speaker 4: to meet with Bryce Harper and you got to talk
- 13:54Speaker 4: to him about, you know, what's going on.
- 13:56Speaker 5: How's the culture.
- 13:59Speaker 4: You know, Zach Wheeler, all these guys, those two guys,
- 14:02Speaker 4: I think you got to sit down and talk to
- 14:04Speaker 4: and kind of figure out.
- 14:06Speaker 5: But I, I'm not a fan in just getting rid.
- 14:10Speaker 5: I know some guys, their contracts are up or whatever,
- 14:12Speaker 5: but I don't think.
- 14:14Speaker 4: It's good for the Phillies to try and get rid
- 14:18Speaker 4: of some of these big, well-known names. Because guess what?
- 14:21Speaker 4: They could still freaking play, man. And I'll put my
- 14:24Speaker 4: line on that. They can still play. So you want
- 14:27Speaker 4: to start all over, go ahead. But it's going to
- 14:29Speaker 4: be tough sledding with what you got out there.
- 14:31Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'd run through a wall for Kyle Schwarber. I would
- 14:34Speaker 1: run through a wall for Bryce Harper, Trey Turner, JT Realmunto. Eric,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I want to ask you this, Pratsy. Ken Rosenthal on
- 14:42Speaker 1: Fair Territory earlier today said that there was a referendum
- 14:46Speaker 1: on both of these teams, the Braves and the Phillies,
- 14:49Speaker 1: regardless of who lost or won. The referendum on the
- 14:54Speaker 1: Phillies is not adding a bullpen guy or an arm
- 14:58Speaker 1: or any sort of bullpen help at the deadline.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Do you think that that came back to bite them?
- 15:05Speaker 3: For sure. For sure. I mean, anybody.
- 15:08Speaker 6: That loses, you're going to look at, well, what did
- 15:11Speaker 6: they not do? How did the Braves not secure another
- 15:13Speaker 6: starting pitcher? We might be talking about this in five
- 15:16Speaker 6: days if the Dodgers beat down. Those are the things
- 15:19Speaker 6: that get questioned in GMs. That's why they get paid
- 15:22Speaker 6: the millions of dollars to do what they do. Yes,
- 15:26Speaker 6: they didn't get that bullpen piece. They didn't know Brad
- 15:28Speaker 6: Keller was going to go down, who was arguably their
- 15:32Speaker 6: second-best reliever. They didn't know that Big John Bolin was
- 15:37Speaker 6: going to have– whatever. I think it was a groin
- 15:40Speaker 6: or something towards the end of the year. He was,
- 15:42Speaker 6: he was active, but he wasn't a hundred percent. You
- 15:46Speaker 6: can't go in most good teams and you're going to
- 15:49Speaker 6: watch them throughout the, throughout the playoffs. Most good teams
- 15:51Speaker 6: are going to go in their bullpen and go, okay,
- 15:54Speaker 6: we got three guys that we trust. Look at the Braves.
- 15:57Speaker 6: One of the best bullpens, if not the best bullpen
- 15:59Speaker 6: in the game. And they had Chris sale, their best starter,
- 16:04Speaker 6: the runner up for Cy Young in the national league, closing.
- 16:07Speaker 3: The game out.
- 16:07Speaker 6: So look, the Phillies don't need to build a seven
- 16:12Speaker 6: deep bullpen, like a, you know, like a 2014, 15
- 16:17Speaker 6: Kansas city Royals.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Type of bullpen. But you know what, even in those years,
- 16:22Speaker 3: It was Kelvin Herrera. It was Holland.
- 16:26Speaker 6: And it was Waiter. That's what happens. You just need
- 16:31Speaker 6: to make sure you have those three deep. And I
- 16:33Speaker 6: don't think the Phillies had it. And I don't 100%
- 16:36Speaker 6: know if it was really Dombrowski's fault. I guess I'm
- 16:40Speaker 6: a Dombrowski apologist. But to answer your question that you
- 16:43Speaker 6: didn't ask me, you asked Todd. This team, if they
- 16:46Speaker 6: weren't willing to continue to push forward with this team...
- 16:49Speaker 6: They know they're not re-signing Boehm. I don't see how
- 16:52Speaker 6: they re-sign Boehm. But this team, for the last three years,
- 16:56Speaker 6: all these contracts that they've given out from Schwarber's last year,
- 16:59Speaker 6: from Real Muto's last year, to the fact that they
- 17:03Speaker 6: brought in Turner a couple years ago. I think now
- 17:05Speaker 6: he's on his fourth or fifth year. Obviously, Harper's been
- 17:09Speaker 6: here as the cornerstone. They were going to bring in
- 17:12Speaker 6: Bo Bichette. They have no desire or thought that this
- 17:16Speaker 6: was the last time. I don't think the window is closed.
- 17:20Speaker 6: But Alana, you said, is it closing?
- 17:23Speaker 3: It's closing.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you. I think it is closing.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Much like when we talked about the Toronto Blue Jays
- 17:31Speaker 1: so many times on foul territory with the closing of
- 17:35Speaker 1: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and obviously Bichette. And now Bichette's not
- 17:39Speaker 1: even there anymore. And they didn't even make the postseason
- 17:42Speaker 1: this year.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Good stuff, you guys. I appreciate everything you're talking about here.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Full count.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Is fueled by Marathon, where fun runs on full. Save
- 17:51Speaker 1: up to a dollar a gallon with Marathon Rewards.
- 17:55Speaker 2: We appreciate you guys so much. Want more on the Braves?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Check out their show on our network, Hammer Territory. Scan
- 18:00Speaker 1: the code on your screen for more. All right, guys,
- 18:05Speaker 1: it is time to get into the player of the
- 18:07Speaker 1: game is, of course, presented by Fox 1.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Todd, we will start with you.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Who is your player of the game in this game
- 18:15Speaker 1: three of the NLDS between the Braves and the Phillies?
- 18:20Speaker 5: For me, it's pretty simple.
- 18:21Speaker 4: I mean, you start off the game with a three-run
- 18:23Speaker 4: home run.
- 18:24Speaker 5: Mr.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Harris absolutely dropping. It seemed like there was three home
- 18:28Speaker 4: runs that just got over the wall, and this was
- 18:31Speaker 4: one of them. It doesn't matter how far you hit it.
- 18:33Speaker 4: He kick-started a three-run home run in the first inning.
- 18:36Speaker 4: That pretty much put the game away, as I said earlier.
- 18:40Speaker 4: How excited was this team? They went way high, and
- 18:43Speaker 4: they stayed there. The pitching was great, but I got
- 18:46Speaker 4: to give it to the big Harris, Michael Harris Jr.,
- 18:48Speaker 4: for doing what he does best, and that's what he did,
- 18:51Speaker 4: especially after what he did the game before with two
- 18:54Speaker 4: big double plays that he grounded into.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Give him credit, player of the game, three-run home run.
- 19:00Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 19:00Speaker 1: When you have a three-run shot in a postseason game
- 19:03Speaker 1: to send you to the NLDS, the rest of your
- 19:05Speaker 1: team is just kind of like able to breathe and
- 19:08Speaker 1: put your shoulders back and feel good. All right, Eric,
- 19:11Speaker 1: what about you? Who's your player of the game? You
- 19:13Speaker 1: cannot use Michael Harris.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Who is yours?
- 19:16Speaker 6: But what if I want to? Why does Todd get
- 19:18Speaker 6: to do all the fun stuff?
- 19:20Speaker 3: Why can't I have my own?
- 19:22Speaker 2: You're a contrarian, so somebody else.
- 19:25Speaker 6: Okay, well, it's not a contrarian. It's really the exact
- 19:28Speaker 6: same thing as Todd said. You need somebody to kickstart
- 19:31Speaker 6: this team. You need somebody to shut down essentially probably
- 19:35Speaker 6: the three guys that were going to hurt you in
- 19:37Speaker 6: the Phillies lineup in Baum, Harper, and Schwarber. And Ray Kerr,
- 19:42Speaker 6: who was working at a 7-Eleven and the pride of
- 19:48Speaker 6: Lassen College. If you can tell me where Lassen College is,
- 19:52Speaker 6: I'll even give you the city.
- 19:54Speaker 3: It's in Ukiah. Ukiah. Okay?
- 19:57Speaker 6: I'm not going to tell you the state. You'll never
- 19:59Speaker 6: find it. But the pride of Lassen College, Ray Kerr,
- 20:04Speaker 6: came out and set the tone. They thought maybe it
- 20:07Speaker 6: was going to be Grant Holmes. He came out and
- 20:09Speaker 6: he set the tone, and you know what? Schwarber got
- 20:11Speaker 6: the hit against him, but he was dominating righties and lefties.
- 20:16Speaker 6: The fact that he comes out and did that, it
- 20:18Speaker 6: enabled them to find a soft landing spot for Grant Holmes,
- 20:22Speaker 6: who has had a good year, has had some big
- 20:25Speaker 6: innings for this Braves team. But you talk about setting
- 20:29Speaker 6: a tone, and when you're the home team, The dude
- 20:32Speaker 6: that takes the hill sets the tone. And for him
- 20:34Speaker 6: to do this with his, I think he had 19,
- 20:37Speaker 6: 18 innings this season for the Braves. And he comes
- 20:43Speaker 6: out and puts up three and a third against the Phillies.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the MVP. All right.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's Susanville, California, by the way.
- 20:52Speaker 1: That is where Lassen College is for our boy, Ray Kirk.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. That's right. All right, guys.

- 21:30Speaker 1: All right, moving on here on this post-game episode, of course,
- 21:35Speaker 1: of foul territory, Todd Frazier, Eric Kratz, Alana Rizzo, don't worry,
- 21:39Speaker 1: Scott Braun will be back, as you know. All right,
- 21:43Speaker 1: so here we go. We have a tweet here, I guess,
- 21:45Speaker 1: from Brad Roland. The Braves have won a playoff series
- 21:48Speaker 1: for the first time in five years. The Braves have
- 21:51Speaker 1: won a playoff series in which they faced elimination for
- 21:54Speaker 1: the first.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Time in 30 years.
- 21:56Speaker 1: New Hammer Territory on the way with Scott Coleman. Join us, perhaps. So,
- 22:01Speaker 1: of course, again, we have Hammer Territory coming. Hammer Territory, rather.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Say that 12 times fast. Hammer Territory coming up right
- 22:10Speaker 1: after our show. So here's a couple of things. So
- 22:14Speaker 1: Olympic Stadium. This is from Richard Griffin, who is also
- 22:17Speaker 1: on X. Olympic Stadium, mid-90s. A shy Montreal kid. named
- 22:22Speaker 1: Alex Anthopoulos, stalked Marlins GM Dave Dombrowski.
- 22:27Speaker 2: To ask how he could get into baseball.
- 22:30Speaker 1: The former Expos exec sat down and spoke to the
- 22:33Speaker 1: young man. Tonight, Anthopoulos' Braves eliminated Dombrowski's Phillies.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Good advice, Dave.
- 22:39Speaker 1: So here's what I get out of that whole thing.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Don't help other people. Is that what you get out
- 22:43Speaker 1: of that, Todd?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Hey, listen. Keep your mouth shut. No.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Hey, listen, where we're from in the East Coast, listen, no.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Next time, don't do it. No, but that is truly remarkable.
- 23:02Speaker 5: What a story. That's pretty cool, man. I love that.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Now, here we go. We got a big matchup coming
- 23:09Speaker 4: up between those two. That's pretty cool. Wait a minute.
- 23:15Speaker 6: No, does that mean Alana would not have done what
- 23:18Speaker 6: the Mets did and told the Guardians that they could
- 23:21Speaker 6: hear their pitch come? Alana would not have done that?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Absolutely not. I'm not helping anybody.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Here's the thing.
- 23:27Speaker 1: If you see that your opponent is drowning, you shove
- 23:32Speaker 1: a hose in their mouth.
- 23:34Speaker 2: That's the thing. Yeah, that's the thing. No, that's just
- 23:37Speaker 2: how it goes, right? No, is that how it goes?
- 23:40Speaker 3: I'm texting Chris. I'm texting Chris.
- 23:43Speaker 5: That's the quote of the day right there. Yeah, look
- 23:45Speaker 5: at Chris.
- 23:47Speaker 3: No. That also.
- 23:49Speaker 6: That story also is really cool because it shows that
- 23:53Speaker 6: this game is a very small circle. And for dudes
- 23:58Speaker 6: that want to, for dudes and women that want to
- 24:03Speaker 6: get after it and work hard, There are jobs. But Alana,
- 24:07Speaker 6: you know as well as anybody, if you don't want
- 24:09Speaker 6: to work hard in this game, then you don't have
- 24:12Speaker 6: a spot in this game. And it's going to be thankless.
- 24:15Speaker 6: You're going to get some crappy jobs. You are going
- 24:18Speaker 6: to get some jobs that people think are the most
- 24:21Speaker 6: glamorous jobs.
- 24:22Speaker 3: And you're like, why am I working 14 hours a
- 24:24Speaker 3: day for this?
- 24:26Speaker 6: So the fact that AA had that conversation with Dombrowski
- 24:33Speaker 6: and their dear.
- 24:34Speaker 3: tonight. Oh yeah, you're right. You're right.
- 24:37Speaker 6: And they're here tonight. Their teams facing each other. It's
- 24:40Speaker 6: a cool, cool.
- 24:41Speaker 3: It's a cool circle of life in baseball. Tiny life.
- 24:46Speaker 2: This is a very incestuous business.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It's a very small, small world. Um, it's a beautiful game.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's a beautiful family. Uh, we're grateful that we get
- 24:55Speaker 1: to cover it. Um, But man, this game will also
- 24:58Speaker 1: kick you right in your face. All right, so that's
- 25:00Speaker 1: going to be it for this post-game edition of Foul Territory.
- 25:05Speaker 2: We are right back with you tomorrow. Of course, it's myself,
- 25:07Speaker 2: it is Eric, it is Todd, this crew right here.
- 25:10Speaker 2: We're back tomorrow.
- 25:11Speaker 1: JP FireRisen, Pete Fairbanks, Ken Rosenthal will join us as well,
- 25:15Speaker 1: of course.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Thanks for being here, you guys. We appreciate it very much.
- 25:18Speaker 2: We will see you tomorrow. Congratulations, Braves.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Move on.
