- 0:01It's Wednesday morning at eight thirty nine, and taking your calls to keep you
- 0:05smiling with the Healthy Place bits to mornay, Happy snow day. It's like,
- 0:14what nearly a foot here we are? Good morning, the morning,
- 0:17Good morning, Tim. How do you keep the ol'brian kids busy on a
- 0:20snow day? Oh? It was really tough, dude, But they were
- 0:23out for like nine hours yesterday. Mom and dad probably multiple snow fights,
- 0:30multiple tears. Yeah, and the game ain't over until dad wins right the
- 0:38snow. Oh gosh. But our two year old George, he did not
- 0:43care for the snow. Really reminded me of of Sean Pribo. Yeah,
- 0:47he came out, he was all in his mittens and hat, and he
- 0:50feels the wind and the snow against his face and he calmly, slowly walks
- 0:54back in the starts removing his gloves and hats and coat. And oh,
- 1:00I can relate, George. Get used to it, buddy. Is you're
- 1:04gonna have to deal with it? Yeah, exactly. And we've got got
- 1:08some great emails on deck. Also a great opportunity right now to get you
- 1:12on the air with Tim O'Brien from The Healthy Place, love to hear from
- 1:15this morning. Six's oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh
- 1:19eight three two one thirteen ten. Of course, Tim comes to us from
- 1:23the Healthy Place online find your Healthy Place dot com. That's fine your Healthy
- 1:27Place dot com. Three locations west side of Madison, Fitchburg and sun Prairie.
- 1:32And as I mentioned, the phone lines are open for you right now
- 1:34at six oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight three
- 1:38two one thirteen ten. Love to hear your question, or if you've had
- 1:42an experience at the Healthy Place, love to hear your story. And Tim
- 1:45one of the great things too, We've got so many great calls over the
- 1:47years of folks who've had a chance to stop into the Healthy Place and talk
- 1:51about the amazing results and how happy they were with their with their meeting with
- 1:55a wellness consultant, and some of the great stuff it's starting that conversation is
- 1:59one of the reasons why you incentivized the calls and incentivized the questions, don't
- 2:02you exactly, man, somebody calls in asks an honest question about their health
- 2:07or the health of a loved one, and then getting to see and watch
- 2:09what a mini consultation will look like demonstrates what our wellness consultants do every single
- 2:15day. You know, our community comes in, ask the question, they
- 2:19get some sort of direction, and we've been kicking butt at that for fourteen
- 2:22years now. And of course the phone lines are open for you right now.
- 2:24It's six oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight
- 2:28three two one thirteen ten. And as we talk about what is a wellness
- 2:31consultant is, I would hope that people, especially if you're a regular listener
- 2:36to the show, you've probably heard us talk about all the great things that
- 2:39they do for folks. But make no mistake, we're not talking about salespeople
- 2:44here. We are talking about folks that are their mission is health and improvement.
- 2:47Yeah. I kind of came out of a national chain that everyone would
- 2:51have heard of and you know, commission structure and not that there's anything wrong
- 2:54with that, but it was just more of a salesy focus. You know,
- 2:58customer comes in. The goal is to get your average order value up
- 3:00and your margin up and your average units per basket up. And you know
- 3:05that's where our training would sort of be around was like sales, sell sell,
- 3:07which is, you know, fine in the sense of helping persuade people
- 3:13into taking natural nutraceuticals. But when Becky and I opened in twenty ten,
- 3:17we wanted to get away from the commission structure because there's times as I managed
- 3:22teams within that business that hey, don't I don't want them distracted by commission.
- 3:29I don't want them distracted by dollars. I want them to be all
- 3:31in focused on the individual standing in front of them. We have this little
- 3:35saying that's like souls before sales, and it just means that the human's more
- 3:38important than any sort of dollar amount that we could bring up to help go
- 3:43towards our vision. For example, like it's about the human in front of
- 3:46us. And we hire, we went through like, hey, do we
- 3:49hire for sales skills or do we hire for like knowledge, passion and integrity?
- 3:53And so that I mean, just even saying that out loud, it's
- 3:54like, well, that second idea sounds better. So that's kind of how
- 3:58we've been hiring too for years, where somebody doesn't have to have like like
- 4:01sales ability and even the title of their position, where like I don't want
- 4:06them called sales associates, like that's yes, they're selling, they're working with
- 4:11sales per se, but their wellness consultants. This is a relationship. It's
- 4:15a consultation. You work through problems together. And it's cool because even visually,
- 4:19like a customer comes in, we'll train our people to like look at
- 4:24the products next to them just to show them. So that's what that's like,
- 4:27like like going on their side, looking at the health condition as a
- 4:30problem and then looking at supplements together as potential solutions for the customer to be
- 4:36equipped with the knowledge to make the decision theirself. I like to say,
- 4:43like CEO of their own health. And that's our mission is to support our
- 4:46community in that way, which is part of why I like people coming into
- 4:49the stores so much, because when they come into the stores, they for
- 4:54the first time, they sort of don't know what they're walking into. You
- 4:57know, is it like a GENC stores shop? Is that you know some
- 5:00of the other shops that will sell hard some like weight loss supplements or muscle
- 5:04gaining so that they sell, sell, sell, And so they come into
- 5:08our store and you know, you have this ambiance going on that's like calm,
- 5:12and you have this team that's like ready to help you and very caring,
- 5:15you know. Like one thing I teach them is like, hey,
- 5:17you got to people don't care how much you know until they know how much
- 5:20you care. And so just certain little nuances like that, by the time
- 5:25they leave, they go, oh, Okay, this is a cool place.
- 5:28This is like somewhere I can count on. This can be a resource.
- 5:30Doesn't mean it replaces my medical doctor and my pharmacists and my medical professionals
- 5:34by any means. It means that hey, now maybe I have the healthy
- 5:39place on my team as well, and they can that can be a resource
- 5:42when I do have questions and they can give me some ideas that I can
- 5:45have in my back pocket. And consider that's such an amazing thing. And
- 5:47it's a great experience. And that's again I know, with the with the
- 5:50callers. And it's funny when we get folks that have had a chance to
- 5:55work with them a wellness consultant, they call in and they talk with us
- 5:58about their experience. It's the first name basis they it's it's a relationship that's
- 6:02developed, It's built on trust, honesty, and of course you talk about
- 6:06who you are looking for to fill those positions and play that role. I
- 6:11know you guys spent a lot of time with education and you can teach people
- 6:14about the about the supplements. It's really about that passion and love. And
- 6:17that's the great thing about getting into the healthy place, whether it's the West
- 6:20side of Madison, Fitchburg, or sun Prairie. Of course, online wellness
- 6:24consultants for you there as well. It finds your Healthy Place dot com.
- 6:27That's find your Healthy Place dot com. Also got wellness consultant Numero Uno here
- 6:31on the show with us this morning. You've got a question, I'd love
- 6:34to have you get on six SOH eight three two one thirteen ten. That's
- 6:39six SOH eight three two one thirteen ten. Yeah. I really like how
- 6:43you said that too, because like it's about building a relationship with the community,
- 6:46Like we're going to be you know, we've been here fourteen years,
- 6:48Like we want to be here the next fifteen years, so like how does
- 6:51the community view us? Like that perspective is really important to Becky and I.
- 6:55So like price, you know seven years ago was brought up, like
- 6:59hey, you know it's ten percent lower online. Like I get you have
- 7:01overhead, but like hey, we have bills and so something you know,
- 7:04five seven years ago we lowered our pricing just so that we'd always be competitive
- 7:10with online So now the community doesn't have to worry about that. And we
- 7:13have twenty six scheduled meetings in twenty twenty four with our wellness consultants with the
- 7:17sole purpose of how yeah, every other wind, every other Friday, with
- 7:24the sole purpose of how can we actually move the needle in our community when
- 7:29it comes to things like suffering, when it comes to things like quality life,
- 7:32when it comes to life expectancy or total pharmaceutical drug intake, like the
- 7:38amount of side effects that our community is impacted with. Those are the big
- 7:42questions that we're looking at going into the next decade, Like how can we
- 7:46do this more cohesively as a team, more caringly, Like how can we
- 7:50ignite sort of like passion and inspire a community, because it's like fanning a
- 7:56flame, you know, Like health is such a powerful thing that people when
- 8:01they have it, they're like they don't realize what they have, and when
- 8:03you don't have it, you realize what you don't have. And so we're
- 8:07kind of coming at it from that angle of like health is a gift.
- 8:11Life is a gift and how do we truly impact and change a community for
- 8:16the better. So that's what we hope that you see and feel and experience
- 8:20anytime you come in. But emails are fine, Like we have a chat
- 8:24feature on our website. We want to like lower the bar make it easier
- 8:28for people to just discover what natural alternatives are out there, because there are
- 8:31so much on there's like it's like funny on one hand, like the common
- 8:35jokes. You guys got something for everything, Like it is interesting how many
- 8:41conditions there are and how much how much advancement there has been around the world
- 8:46in the past fifty years around nutraceuticals and natural alternatives that are working. So
- 8:50when you have you know, I got a question here that I sent to
- 8:54you from a customer about gout, and it's just like there's such a percentage
- 8:58of our community that deal with gout and it's just like not talked about.
- 9:01And that's like one out of hundreds that we have a solution for that works
- 9:05like most of the time. And we're going to get the details on that.
- 9:09Alex wrote a fantastic email, great question. We'll get to Alex's email
- 9:13and so many more as well. As your call up to hear from you
- 9:15this morning six oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight
- 9:18three two one thirteen ten gets you on the air with Tim O'Brien from The
- 9:22Healthy Place and Tim will hook you up with a twenty five dollars gift card

- 9:39Sun Prairie well as consultants standing by there for you as well. We'll
- 9:43take your call next and can you continue our conversation with Tim O'Brien from The
- 9:48Healthy Place as Madison the morning and ask the Experts continues here on thirteen ten
- 9:52Wibi Gay Touch This eight fifty thirteen ten Wiba and asked the Experts hang it
- 10:03out with Tim O'Brien from The Healthy Place. Three locations Fitchburg, West Side
- 10:07Madison and Son Prairie online find your Healthy Place dot com. That's find your
- 10:11Healthy Place dot com. Questions get you on the air this morning six so
- 10:13eight three two one thirteen ten. That's three two one thirteen ten. You
- 10:18can also email Tim tim at find your Healthy Place dot com. That's Tim
- 10:22tim at find your Healthy Place dot com. Alex took the time to write
- 10:26in and said, I was told by a colleague that cherry juice might be
- 10:31beneficial for gout management. It's been several months since my gout last gout flare
- 10:35up, and I'm eager to keep it that way. I hear that would
- 10:39you suggest cherryjewice as a preventative measure for gout? And I was telling you
- 10:43off the air, Tim, I have a friend and coworker, a young
- 10:46guy. He deals with gout and I just feel horrible for him because he
- 10:50just seems miserable. Yeah, it's it's brutal. It can it can come
- 10:56after you with a vengeance, and it's a it's a uric acid in bat
- 11:00So there's different nutrients that can help sort of reduce and balance out those uric
- 11:05acid levels. And cherry extract happens tart cherry specifically, it happens to be
- 11:11profound and beneficial. I mean, it works most of the time, so
- 11:13you can you can get a tart cherry juice. There is some sugar in
- 11:18that, which isn't a lot of sugar, but I tend to like to
- 11:20recommend a capsule. Terry Naturally is one of my very favorite brands up from
- 11:24out of Green Bay. Terry Lamron's one of my heroes. He's like the
- 11:28guy that brought glucosamine too America. He's got a product called tart Cherry and
- 11:33it promotes a healthy uric acid balance and it's a capsule, so there's no
- 11:37sugar. So that's plus one. But plus two is that the actual active
- 11:45compound, the tart cherry active ingredients is at a full thousand milligrams, so
- 11:50it's going to be more therapeutic than a juice. And I meant to mention
- 11:54with the sugar thing in general, if you have a gout, sugar will
- 11:58sort of like increase the negative effects of gout, So you want to try
- 12:03to minimize sugar, which is part of why I do the capsules versus the
- 12:07juice. So yeah, I would go to our website, I'd type in
- 12:09tart cherry, tart cherry, and that'll pull up that Terry Naturally product.
- 12:13You know you spend I want to say it's thirty bucks, so it's not
- 12:16not too expensive. But two for your buddy if he gets this too.
- 12:20Twice a day is considered a therapeutic dose, and that amount has been working
- 12:26if someone is in suffering to the nth degree and they say they have a
- 12:33real stubborn uric acid imbalance, then coupling it with the tart cherry and curcumin.
- 12:39So we have a second product called Kira Relief, Kira Relief that works
- 12:43well for gout, for the inflammation side of things. But honestly, just
- 12:46trying that tart cherry bottle, thirty bucks, two capsules twice a day,
- 12:50that has been golden for our community. That's great to hear. And again
- 12:56it's something where the guy, I know, young guys in good shape,
- 13:00but just for some reason, he's been hit with it. And what a
- 13:03great off to definitely, and it happens, you know, it's you know,
- 13:07I'll bump into folks like very young in battling cancer, Crohn's disease,
- 13:11colitis, devertiiculitis, you know, and you just go, darn man,
- 13:13you're too young for that. Yeah. And that's what's a great thing too,
- 13:16is for folks that have come into the Healthy Place and started that conversation
- 13:22and looking for relief and solutions, natural solutions. They are therefore it at
- 13:26the Healthy Place, whether it's Westside Fitchburg or Sun Prairie online find your Healthy
- 13:30Place dot com. That's find your Healthy Place dot Com. Mentioned the email
- 13:33Tim at find your Healthy Place dot com and Sam wrote in, Oh,
- 13:37Sam, with a timely one, this holiday season is always stressful, A
- 13:41stressful period for me, Amen brother, with the work deadlines, looming family
- 13:46visits, and all those financial concerns. Even with all that said and done,
- 13:50I find myself feeling incredibly tired. That's an email from Sam. What
- 13:56do you got for him? Tim? Yeah, you know there's something that
- 14:01we have called an energy bundle, and it targets the adrenal glands and most
- 14:05fatigue. So especially this kind of question coming in Sam, It's like,
- 14:11you know, Sam's gone through like a lot of stress with holidays, right
- 14:13and you a number of us have done that, And stress is really hard
- 14:16on your adrenal glands, your whole like glandular system. So if you strengthen
- 14:20your adrenals, for example, you get immediate energy stress reduction, you feel
- 14:26better overall. Uplifts the moods, good for the immune system and things like
- 14:31deeper sleep, and that is adrenal boost. So there's three products in the
- 14:35energy bundle. For somebody like Sam, I would recommend that all day long.
- 14:39Adrenal boost. Number one has those adaptogenic herbs that help your body adapt
- 14:43to stress strengthen energy boost. Product number two is called thyroid TLC, which
- 14:48strengthens your thyroid. Like immediate beneficial energy will be felt from the ingredients in
- 14:54thyroid TLC iodine and tyrazine. Most people are deficient in iodine, so you
- 15:01really feel that one and it's so good for you. Every cell and your
- 15:03body has iodine receptors. A lot of good reasons to take that. So
- 15:07that's product number two with thyroid TLC. And then the third product is a
- 15:11highly bioactive multivitamin, which is just a fancy way of saying it's better than
- 15:15the junk out there, but multi vitamin if you have a highly bioavailable one,
- 15:20you have nutrients like methyl kobalomin B twelve versus the synthetic scion kabalom and
- 15:26B twelve. Examples like that where you really feel that burst of energy,
- 15:30and so you take those three products together coming into the new year. Here,
- 15:33it helps restore because you know, folks like Sam will battle adrenal fatigue
- 15:37and they don't know they have adrenal fatigue or even chronic adrenal fatigue super common.
- 15:43Like folks will wake up in the morning they'll say to themselves, man,
- 15:46I actually had a good night's sleep, but I am so tired still.
- 15:50Like that's iconic for like adrenal fatigue. Like you are stressed, your
- 15:54energy is low, even when you do sleep a decent amount, you're still
- 15:58very tired. Like all of that screams adrenal fatigue or a chronic adrenal fatigue.
- 16:02In our culture, it's kind of like when you don't find somebody like
- 16:04that, you're like, wow, Wow, you have energy. What's going
- 16:11on? That is so awesome? And healthy? We talked about healthy,
- 16:15you know, good for your body, good for yourself, good for your
- 16:19energy, good for your mood, all of these fantastic things you mentioned with
- 16:22multi vitamin junk out there, and this is this is one of the areas
- 16:27that that has always troubled me. And and I know that there are there
- 16:32are people out there that are just in it to make a buck. And
- 16:34don't really care about the actual effectiveness and the quality of their product. I
- 16:41get that. What's unfortunate is those people are often selling their products in big
- 16:47stores that people are going to, and folks will try this junk, not
- 16:52see results, and rather than conclude that I bought junk, they conclude this
- 16:56doesn't work and they give up, and oh my god, it hurts so
- 17:00bad. It's devastating because like each nutrient, you know, I'm kind of
- 17:03like a geek on this stuff. I'm like, you know, I look
- 17:06at Kirk Human daily and I'm like, you're beautiful. You know, I'm
- 17:10a little nuts, which is fine, but when it comes down to it,
- 17:12like there's names out there in the multivitamin space since we were talking about
- 17:15there, that everybody would know of. They're like, okay, I've heard
- 17:18that one hundred times. Maybe even their doctor recommended it as a multi vitamin.
- 17:22Because the doctors don't go to school to learn about multivitamins, right,
- 17:25they don't know a ton about that, so they'll just sort of recommend it,
- 17:27and then folks will take it and they don't realize, you know,
- 17:30just in the you know, centrum space, I'll just say the name you
- 17:33know, he can pressed twenty thousand pounds of pressure per square inch to get
- 17:37that into those little stones. So your body has a really hard time breaking
- 17:41it down. And then the ingredients inside are mostly synthetic or the lowest forms
- 17:47of each one of those ingredients, So then your absorption, if you can
- 17:49break it down, you don't absorb it very well. So I'll tell people
- 17:52all the time, like, hey, it's not about coming to the healthy
- 17:56place. It's about finding a health food store that you can trust to buy
- 18:00supplements because the big box stores and mass market is generally going to produce and
- 18:07sell that which is the cheapest and kind of the highest margin. Like you
- 18:11said, it's more about the buck. There's a for those that are looking
- 18:15for a little extra substantiation. Is the Comparative Guide to Supplements by Lyle McWilliams
- 18:22at tests and rates fifteen hundred different brands and multi vitamins, and you look
- 18:26at some of the centrum, you know, and I'm not trying to throw
- 18:30hate on anyone, Like you're talking under a two percent absorption rate and that
- 18:34should almost be illegal. So it's like, how do we have a you
- 18:38know, supplement system that you can produce something that has under a two percent
- 18:42absorption rate, but you can market the crap out of it and sell a
- 18:47billion dollars a year, which I think is where they're at. And the
- 18:49public has no idea and they're used to taking a multivitamin and not feeling a
- 18:55difference. You know, they don't feel energy, they don't feel stress reduction
- 18:57or mental clarity boost when you take the quality multi vitamin you do. And
- 19:02there's hundreds of examples like that throughout our stores. It's pretty amazing. Today
- 19:06is the day to start that journey. If you maybe tried something else in
- 19:08the past, didn't feel you're getting the results, start that conversation. Get
- 19:12into the Healthy Place West side of Madison, fitchburgs on Prairie online find your
