- 1:29Well, now it's time for today's episode of The Saint. The original air
- 1:33date January the twenty first of nineteen fifty one and the title to ba or
- 1:41not Tuba? That is the question? The Adventures of the Saint starring Vincent
- 2:07Price. The Saint based on characters created by Leslie Trottering and known to millions
- 2:23from books, magazines, and motion pictures. The robin Hood of modern crime
- 2:27now comes transcribe to radio, starring Hollywood's brilliant and talented actor Vincent Price as
- 2:35the Saint My mister Templar, Theodore, excuse me when I drag her in?
- 2:46Huh drag her? Oh yeah, she is in good She is a
- 2:53very nice tuba. Mister Templar. Perhaps I will take her out of the
- 2:58case now. And Theodore, if you lift that confounded thing to your lips,
- 3:01you're a dead man. You do not have to get violot, mister
- 3:05Temple. I don't, Theodore. You forget that on one occasion you trapped
- 3:08me. I have heard you play that thing well. I have never before
- 3:14nor since wanted to be deaf. Well, mister Temple, I have been
- 3:15practicing since. You're trying to tell me you now play better, well louder.
- 3:22Goodbye, Theodore. I have got a problem. I don't doubt it,
- 3:24but not what you think. It ain't the neighbors, Oh they've all
- 3:28moved out. Huh. The landlord nail my windows died. He is the
- 3:30man of genius. My problem is something else. It would help a sleep
- 3:34away from that tuber. Well, I only want to I've never strangled anyone
- 3:38yet, but there can always be a first time. Okay, I won't
- 3:42demonstrate, but you heard me play five years of my life went down the
- 3:46drain on that unhappy day. What did I play for you? It had
- 3:49a title? Well, I guess it don't really matter on account of I
- 3:53only know one piece. So well, anyways, that's what I played for
- 3:55mister Stanley immediately, and no doubt happily needed to return to Africa yodeling for
- 4:01Livingston. No, mister Stanley is hard appearing. No, he's a mania.
- 4:08Nah, he hates music. Nah. He is the guy who owns
- 4:11a Stanley Casino which is kind of upstate and is a very swanky roadhouse type
- 4:15roadhouse. Oh, you had him tied to a chair, mister templar.
- 4:17He asked me to play. He called me up and asked me to come
- 4:20over and play. And and after he heard me play, he hired me,
- 4:25oh to do what sweep the roadhouse to play the tuba in his band.
- 4:30You know, it doesn't happen very often, but tonight it happened.
- 4:32Words have failed me. Not only has mister Stanley hired me, but he
- 4:35is gonna pay me one hundred bucks a week? And ohough is he gonna
- 4:39pay me one hundred bucks a week? He also handed over one hundred bucks
- 4:42in advance in cash Theodo. I suppose I should congratulate you my thanks,
- 4:47But what's your problem, mister Templar. I love to play the tuba,
- 4:51but I don't play it good. I know that you're an honest man,
- 4:55theaterre even I sometimes can't stand the sounds I make, mister Templan. Nobody
- 5:00would pay me go to play if it was legitimate. You may be right,
- 5:02Theodore. So what should I do? I still got the whole hundred
- 5:05bucks? Should I give it back to mister Stanley? What kind of a
- 5:09man is he? Anyway? By reputation? From what I have heard around,
- 5:12he is a very big operator type, and I do not think he
- 5:14has had a reputation ever since he was expelled from reform school. Oh why
- 5:17was he expelled? Ooh? He lowered the tone of the place, the
- 5:21Theodore? When do you start working for him? I make my debut tonight,
- 5:26the bat, I think. So what I'm asking you, mister Temple
- 5:29is would you please be there when I debut? That means there will be
- 5:31at least one friend of mine in the audience, and I gotta feeling I
- 5:34am going to need a friend. You may be right, Theodore, but
- 5:38if the roadhouse is the kind of place most roadhouses are, the patrons will
- 5:42be thinking of other things than music anyway. Yeah, but suppose they think
- 5:46a murder, mister Templar, Yes, the ray it ain't none of them
- 6:00my business. Will that stop you? No? I didn't think it would.
- 6:02One of these days I'm going to hate somebody else's calves and then what
- 6:06happens to my wife and my sixth No, don't, don't, don't say
- 6:10it. I haven't got a wife of six kids. You never will have
- 6:13if you don't keep your eye on the road up here in the country,
- 6:15What could I run into a tree through? Yeah, but mister temple Is
- 6:19started to ask you something. You're going to the Stanley Casina. The Stanley
- 6:25Casina is in the country, west Chester, Lewis, you're the same thing.
- 6:29Also, the Stanley Casina is a very romantic place, fellas take the
- 6:31girls there. Now, you're not equipped with a girl. Therefore, why
- 6:36am I going there to listen to a friend of mine play the tuba.
- 6:42Well, one thing you can say for that, it's different. It's also
- 6:46true. Yeah, mister Temple, I'm not saying I can understand why a
- 6:48guy would want to play a tuba in the first place. But maybe he's
- 6:51got a reason. But for somebody to voluntarily listen to him, then there's
- 6:56no excuse. I'm fine to Theodore Louis. I have a feeling he may
- 7:00be in trouble or that I can understand. You see, he must have
- 7:02been hired for a reason. It has nothing to do with his tuba play.
- 7:06Now what it is, I can't imagine. Maybe you should have stopped
- 7:10him. I couldn't Louis with the job, and I don't know. Maybe
- 7:13I should have maybe not. I feel a little like Hamlet. Oh this
- 7:17I gotta feeling I'm gonna regret. What do you mean? You feel like
- 7:20Hamlet? And he couldn't decide either, of course, you remember his famous
- 7:24piloquy. I think that children should want to be sent to bed right now,
- 7:27the one that begins tuba or not to That is the question. Oh,
- 7:43it's a nice joint, mister Templar. So it is nice. If
- 7:46you'd ask me into dinner, then you afford it at the prices are a
- 7:49little high. My mistake. Could have bought a colt perhaps, but it
- 7:53wouldn't have bought a floor show, and judging from the daycor the floor will
- 7:58shortly have plenty to show. I wouldn't be surprised. Embarrassed maybe, but
- 8:01surprised now. I look, the band is climbing into the bandstand. Yeah,
- 8:05I know it's only trouble. Oh I don't see no tulboo, no
- 8:09theater or either. Maybe he got fired before he even started to play No
- 8:16Louis and finished my dinner. Don't have to suggest it for a while yet.
- 8:18So if you want to go play a visitor or something, I very
- 8:20definitely do come along. Okay, only will we got the the door at
- 8:26the left of the bandstand, Several people have used it. We might try
- 8:30would be maybe an exit, and then the headwaiter will stop it. Yeah,
- 8:33and he ain't so so well tried me very nice hallway got walls on
- 8:41both sides. Not to mention the roof might coming through the transom of that
- 8:46door. Up ahead, mister Temple. We're looking for Theodore. We're looking
- 8:50at the moment for anyone we can find there too much noise coming out of
- 8:54that room. This might be Stanley's offer from Good Evening Stanley. No,
- 9:07yes, gentlemen, yeah, well, of course I'm always delighted to see
- 9:11guests in person, but I'm sure my headweight will do anything to satisfy you.
- 9:15Tell me, does he employ the musicians for your orchestra? Are you
- 9:18musicians or not? Exactly? We're interested in one of your musicians, So
- 9:24which one theadore? Theodore Coogan Cougan. Well, I'm sorry, but the
- 9:28name isn't familiar. On of course, I know all the boys in the
- 9:31band. Of course, what does he play? He he insult the tuba
- 9:37tuba? Well I'm sorry, but we don't have a tuba in my band.
- 9:41What made you think your friend Theodore might be playing for me? Well,
- 9:46I'm afraid it was an incorrect How I will. Your friend's a good
- 9:48man, you know the novel they might be worth something. Send him along
- 9:54to me and I'll I'll see that would be very nice? Have you only
- 9:58thinking you can see? Well that's all and now, uh, why don't
- 10:01you gentlemen run along and enjoy the floor show? Oh? Thank you,
- 10:05thank you, That's exactly what we'll douse, my apologies for having intruded.
- 10:07Not at all, not at all. It's a pleasure to meet you.
- 10:09Good night, good night, cool, real courtly type. Huhm, very
- 10:18come along then, Yeah, this ain't the way back to the floor.
- 10:20I know I didn't. We're not returning there. Why not? We don't
- 10:24approve the floor shows, and it's not that back to the building would be
- 10:26around this abandoned Can I know way we better go back there? Uh,
- 10:35mister Temple, I could lunch you a few bucks if you're short and you're
- 10:39trying to dump the dinner build you know, I mean looking, But it
- 10:41didn't money. I'm worrying about it at the moment. And these leads ran
- 10:46back to the casino floor, which is bad. Therefore we're left to h
- 10:52yeah, that's staircase. We go up and pre okay, course we don't
- 10:56know what's upstairs, but at least we may not be expected there. Is
- 11:00that good better than what's likely to happen anything. What makes you think something's
- 11:03liable to happen downstairs? Instant I mentioned Theodore to Danley, he casually pressed
- 11:09a button at the side of his desk, a button which I suspect is
- 11:11he's equivalent for a danger signal danger to who I'm afraid louis to us.
- 11:16Oh, I mean he's the landing and yah another hallway. Yeah, I
- 11:22would have to try. There's nothing doing on this side. Oh go locked?
- 11:30Yea. So far all this upstairs consists of us a lot of doors
- 11:33which are love the rooms. They're probably used for storage. Then they will
- 11:37realized shorty that we didn't return to the floor. So the back door was
- 11:41guarded, so he'll know we didn't leave through it, which means, uh,
- 11:43he'll come up and see you sometimes, and there's sometimes there's gonna be
- 11:46no. It is cause I don't know whether Stanley intends anything too drastic.
- 11:52We hadn't seen Theodore it. Supposing we had. When I try this time,
- 11:58one's open. Go quite as sweet, better than use some sweet air
- 12:07and the sweet. Check the door. Okay, there are bolt on the
- 12:11door. I slided you guided. You know it ain't very strong. Window
- 12:18over on this side. Hey, it's a room with a view. Yeah,
- 12:24well we've got the view of the parking lot. Directly below the window
- 12:28is an extension of the building proper, the temple. This is the time
- 12:31to get architecture, the windows out, Louis. The roof of the extension
- 12:41is only a few feet below, so it's outside. It's a solid roof.
- 12:48Mister Temple could move over, so we're out on the roof. So
- 12:54wait a minute, Louis. Someone down there in the parking lot. Oh
- 12:58yeah, And even from here I can see he's carrying something besides small change
- 13:03in his right hand coat pocket, armed an unquestionably forewarned room service backer.
- 13:07They almost getting the fatient from a short dropped to the ground. Louie jumped
- 13:11down, jump, but put the letting That man down there come to you.
- 13:15You stay right down below the edge of the roof. I'm calling you,
- 13:18Louis. Hurry, okay, okay, Hi, you for me of
- 13:24my life? Your hands away through your pocket pocket, I said, okay,
- 13:30Well here goes boom. Mister Temple. He didn't say four. And
- 13:37you're landed right on him. Day got cod Come on, Louis, I
- 13:41already located this over to the leftman. Let's take a cab, huh,
- 13:46Temple, Yeah, a very good foot bracer. I ought to tell you,
- 13:52I take it back. I just gained fifty miles hour. We're almost
- 13:54to the cab. Why didn't too good for the raim? That rain could
- 13:58be too best for us? Help? How, Louis, were you hit?
- 14:01No, they scratched the thunder. I just play. I'll buy you
- 14:05a new fender quick, Louis in here, Come on, mister Temple.
- 14:13Did we stop at a gas station in a way Yeah? Yeah, the
- 14:16one with the playing red horse just outside the city. We should have taken
- 14:18a horse. No, we'll most ports are breaking the speed lim I think
- 14:28we're out of range now as long as we ain't out of gas. Hey,
- 14:31Louis, why what? I just remember? What is mister Temple?
- 14:33What happens? I forgot to pay the check? The templar yellowis? I
- 14:50ain't as big a collard as I sound, of course? Going now I'm
- 14:52bigger. Why don't we go home instead of visiting that tuba player, Louis,
- 14:56Theodore may be in danger? Uh huh, and they fire bullets at
- 15:01us. We're not dangerous. You mustn't forget, Louis, that Theodore have
- 15:05to worry about it too. But to all this touches me. Okay,
- 15:09we'll help you all protect the tuble, but if we wind up in the
- 15:13hospital, will need a tubul we will a luber toothpaste. I guess he
- 15:33gave him apparently not. Oh oh, that's a tuba player. Good evening,
- 15:41and if I'm in temperated, this is Lewis. I'm the Queen of
- 15:43Transylvania. But don't let that all of you maybe come in. Of course,
- 15:48the king is out of town. There's only one trouble about being the
- 15:52queen of Transylvania. There is no such place as Transylvania. You're right,
- 15:58but I didn't to fight outside or upset the neighbors with your gun. I
- 16:03always worry about the neighbors. And now that you have your gun pointing at
- 16:06me, what am I supposed to worry about? A good explanation of why
- 16:10you're looking for Theodore? Why does that continue? I don't think I like
- 16:12people who go around looking for Theodore. Maybe they can't help, but it's
- 16:17it's a neurosis or something. I might want to offer Theodore a job doing
- 16:21what well? Playing the tuba in an orchestra, and I'm the Queen of
- 16:25Transylvania. You'll have to do better than mad mister Templary the car. Unless
- 16:30I'm guessing badly. The number of people you dislike is shortly going to be
- 16:34increased. I don't That car which just stopped outside may be bringing more seekers
- 16:38for Theodore. Double please anything interesting through that window? Sure you are,
- 16:51and don't try to follow me. Hurry Look at this well right out the
- 16:55back door. That's not polite. No point in following her. I'd rather
- 16:57find her than theater. Another room that door? You you still think maybe
- 17:03Theodore is here? I don't know. This is the bedroom at Oh well,
- 17:08well what you found? Theodore and the bed lois lying on a lovely
- 17:12white seat. Oh a, wah, whoa, who've been shot full of
- 17:18holes? It don't look good on him. Nay, he's dead, boroughly
- 17:22dead. But uh it's not Theodore. The doorbells and doubted him. It's
- 17:27the Stanley and his friends. However, mister Temple, this is no time
- 17:30to pick a Corpse's possible. While yeah, all right, come on,
- 17:36you may still make it. If they haven't put anyone on the back door,
- 17:38and if they had, it's not crossed any bridges until they collapsed under
- 17:41it. Huh something would what you just said? Yeah they're out here alright,
- 17:48yeah, yeah, I know, no bridges. We gotta be able
- 17:51to make it out of the building. You know something, This is one
- 17:55time I would like to run into a couple. Will ask me, where's
- 17:56the fire? It's a more important question, really, Theodore, what mister
- 18:10Temple and we had enough escapes for the night. I don't know. Louis
- 18:12the corpse back in Theodore's apartment with a man named Max Carter. Oh,
- 18:17that's why you swiped his wallet. Wasn't nobody around introducing to it? Yeah,
- 18:22that's right. Does that wallet also tell you why he was murdered?
- 18:25No? Therefore, Yeah, as we stopped at the nearest drug store,
- 18:30mister Temple, I couldn't need a thing. That's not what we needed drug
- 18:33store for. I look, there's one up ahead, Louis, okay,
- 18:37and almost a temple. Wouldn't you have thought that whoever killed that catter guy
- 18:42would have been smart enough at least to swipe the wallet so that the body
- 18:47wouldn't have been immediately identified. No, now, I suspect it was very
- 18:52important to the killer that the body be identified and quickly. I will say,
- 18:56aha, ah ha, this make me sounds smart, like I understood
- 19:00what you said, So now I can be a dolph again. We're in
- 19:03the drug store. Now one son, we find a phone booth, Yeah
- 19:08yeah, and we make a phone call. Well, if you'd had a
- 19:17chance at least to get a phone number, I would know who you will
- 19:18phone. But you didn't to who you phone. Then I've got to find
- 19:23out who Maxicanner? Oh, Lieutenant Simon Temper, The lieutenant just left for
- 19:29the upper Amazon, good night. Well what's the matter with the lower Amazon?
- 19:33Simon? What can I do for you? Who is Maxic Carner?
- 19:36Crook, drug addict, blackmailer? Awesome little character I see. Suppose he
- 19:41was found murdered, I'd give three cheers, and after that you'd suspect whom
- 19:45killing Carr? Thousands of people. But the first guy I tried to get
- 19:48in touch with would be a little tuba player named Theodore Cougan pet or Cougan.
- 19:52Why Lieutenant Oor Cougan was engaged to a girl named Wendy Breen, very
- 19:56much in love with her. You give me a suicide because cause of Carter?
- 20:00Huh? So unless Theodore had an iron clad out and Lieutenant not iron
- 20:06clad that went out with a buttle, Simon, why are you interested in
- 20:10the bustle in Carter? Well, maybe he has a buttle. Goodbye,
- 20:14Lieutenant, and that's interesting. What is Louis? I am about to ruin
- 20:19and old the prophet? Oh, mister Temple, will be careful. It's
- 20:23sometimes necessary to pay the piper, true, but then it may also be
- 20:29necessary to prevent him from piping to the cab. Did the lieutenant mentioned why
- 20:47he would suspect theodose? Yes, Carter was the reason for a suicide if
- 20:51a girl named Wendy Breen Theodore was going to marry her. Oh that's flunny,
- 20:55moldive him. Okay, the cab? Well, where to twice around
- 21:02the park? Huh, mister Temple, you're not the man you used to
- 21:06be. Don't be silly. Louis, the Queen of Transylvania has joined Uh
- 21:11huh, I've been following you too. Well, we're flattered when you stopped.
- 21:15I paid off my cab and decided to use yours. Oh cozier the
- 21:18cheets. Mister Templer, Why were you looking for Theodore? I wasn't not
- 21:23in his apartment at any rate? What were you looking for? You know
- 21:26that as well as I do. You better tell me anyway? You know
- 21:30you really should have words with your dressmaker, your revolvers showing again. Besides,
- 21:36do I really have to tell you you were in the bedroom. No,
- 21:38I didn't have a chance to. I mean, go on, start
- 21:41the car. I stopped, mister Temple, You start, Louis. Now
- 21:48suppose you tell me what you were looking for. I'm the one who has
- 21:52the gun. I don't have to answer any question, not mine. Perhaps
- 21:56the pleee Tarbor will be ruder and more insistent to police use me for interrupting,
- 22:00mister templar. But we are being followed, oh by someone else toide
- 22:04the queen here, let's make quite a profession. Louis, Can you get
- 22:07any more feet out of this cab? Oh's the car right in front of
- 22:11me going slowly? You might try passing it, Okay, they he swinging
- 22:15on the right in front of the Oh you like that is thorough One car
- 22:23in front of us, one behind. Hey, we're boxed in, dazy
- 22:26step, Louis, will do you missus? Danny's very touchy around offended?
- 22:32Oh indeed, Well can that be my beautiful moon. I've got a gun,
- 22:37half a dozen of my boys surrounding the cab. You better let me
- 22:38have that gun, thank you. Ah, then we'll all join me in
- 22:44my car. I uh think you'll find it more comfort, but I like
- 22:48it here because your car is black. It reminds me of a funeral.
- 22:52You know, that's a very interesting comment because that may be precisely where all
- 22:56of you are going. Well, Stanley Cassino, huh, beginning to feel
- 23:22like my little home away from home. Well, I'm so glad the back
- 23:26way. Boys. Come on, come on, you don't have to plush
- 23:36my office. No one minds. Oh no, my love, I don't
- 23:41mind. Good. That's gonna ask me to no, but I might shut
- 23:45up all right. I just don't like to feel the low. Now make
- 23:52yourselves comfortable. My boys will remain here to keep us coming. Now,
- 23:56then, what to do about you? No, it's quite yet, mister
- 24:00Stanley. I need five minutes of your time. Five minutes I might be
- 24:04able to spare them. Why would Mona Hear have wanted Max Carter dead?
- 24:08An interesting question. I suspect he was black Mania. Mona has been an
- 24:14alder girl on occasion, and she was in Theodore's apartment in order to kill
- 24:18you. Wouldn't kill Theodore. We're friends. I beg your pardon. I
- 24:22hadn't been thinking of Theodore. However, mister Stanley, had you also tired
- 24:26of paying carterof potence? You're using bothers me, Temple, how stop?
- 24:30You know as well as I do that Carter's dead. Oh but Mona,
- 24:33you told Louis and me that you hadn't been in the bedroom. How did
- 24:37you know Carter was dead? I just guess it's a very tired attempt Mona.
- 24:42You know, Temple, you're the barrow of very welcome news, and
- 24:48then Carter was black maning. You know, the sweet silence. However,
- 24:52it's no longer worrying you miss Mona's admission. And by the way, Theodore
- 24:56must be on his way home now. Be it all surprised? Although I
- 25:02can't understand why you assume I know anything of Theodore's whereabouts. No, but
- 25:07in that case we may as well leave, Yes, I think so?
- 25:11Would you drop Moona off a police headquarters. I didn't kill Carter. I
- 25:14would have liked to, but he was already dead. My dear girl,
- 25:17I suggest that you say that impassioned cry for the jewelry, but during the
- 25:21one that will try her for the murder of Max Carno. But she will
- 25:25be tried for that she didn't murder Carter. Well, I thought, I'm
- 25:27sure the police would prefer Theodore Theodore. Of course, Louis, we know
- 25:32he had a magnificent motive. Lieutenant Archer himself said Theodore would be in line
- 25:36for the chair unless they had an alibi. Yeah, but he's got an
- 25:38alibi. No, no, no. What Theodore will try to say is
- 25:42that he was hired as a tuba player by mister Stanley. Came to the
- 25:47casino, but instead of being permitted to play, he was bungled into a
- 25:51car, driven about for hours and then relief. Well, that would give
- 25:55him an alibi if he were believed. But his alibi depends entirely on whether
- 25:59or not Stanley really hired him. Mister Danny has already told if he didn't,
- 26:03Yeah, but he could be lying. Possibly, But after a jury
- 26:06heard Theodore play the Cuba six once, whom would they believe? No one
- 26:11would believe Theodore. Theodore would stand a very good chance of dying in the
- 26:15electric care However, oddly enough, Theodore will be believed having fun. Templar
- 26:22first de printed on Mona, then on Theodore. Now suddenly you're changing your
- 26:26mind again. I WA's the idea, and you'll be believed because first I
- 26:30shall corroborate his story. The jury could think that you were perjuring yourself for
- 26:33friends. No, because you see standing other people besides Mona and Theodore wanted
- 26:38Carter dead. That's suppose that one of them got Theodore out of his apartment
- 26:42and then put Max Carter's already dead body in there. That would put Theodore,
- 26:48if you'll pardon the expressions on the pot, Well, how would this
- 26:52theoretical person get Theodore out by making him a fake offer of employment, by
- 26:56seeing to it that no one would later believe in that, by also making
- 27:00sure that Theodore would have no alibi for the critical time. That person,
- 27:07according to you, could only be myself. That's a clever there more than
- 27:11a theories. Danny Carter was shot full of holes. That's so I described.
- 27:17If the sheet on which he was lying on the bed in Theodore's apartment
- 27:19was a lovely white sheet, that's how you describe it. But if it
- 27:23has been red with Carter's blood. Therefore Carter was killed elsewhere and moved to
- 27:30Theodore's apartment, that does a temple. I'm afraid you'd been bright enough to
- 27:33keep your mouth shut. A shat I suspected to believe I didn't notify them
- 27:38earlier because Theodore was in your hands. What I did do, however,
- 27:42was leave a match book in Carter's pocket. A matchbook here is one supplied
- 27:48by your management. When Louis and I die in here, I knew your
- 27:52plan called for one of your men to notify the police anonymously of Carter's death
- 27:56in Theodore's apartment. Infore, I you're having company, mister Stanley, you'd
- 28:03better open the door. They're calling for you. Well, mister Templar,
- 28:18we've got through it alive. Prap, But will we ever be the same?
- 28:22Is that bad? Simon? Well, I never would have met the
- 28:26Queen of Transylvania otherwise, Oh so so to long live the Queen. You
- 28:52have been listening to another transcribed adventure of the Saints, the robin Hood of
- 28:56modern crime. Now here is our starve in some christ ladies and gentlemen.
- 29:03Almost by definition, freedom has been an integral part of America. It is
- 29:07the foundation upon which our political philosophy is based. And now we must reaffirm
- 29:14our faith in that philosophy. This is the sentiment expressed by the Crusade for
- 29:18Freedom. The purpose of the Crusade is simple. First, to bring moral
- 29:22and financial support to a radio station operating in the heart of Europe itself,
- 29:27a radio station which gives the communist dominated countries a chance to hear the voices
- 29:33of their exiled democratic leaders, to tell the world just what America stands for,
- 29:38and to bring the truth to the ears of subjugated Europe. To reaffirm
- 29:42your faith in freedom, Join the Crusade for America for all humanity. This
- 29:48is Vincent Bryce inviting you to join us again next week at the same time
- 29:52for another exciting adventure of the Saints. Good Night. This Adventure of the
- 30:11Saint was written by Lewis Viddie's Our cast included Nike Morley as Mona and Jack
- 30:15Moyles as theatre Victor Rodman, with Stanley frank Urst will Lie Lieutenant and Louis
- 30:19is played by Larry Dodkin. The Saint based on characters created by Leslie Charters
- 30:23as a James L. Staffier production and is directed by Helen Knight Sinson.
- 30:27Price is soon to be seen with Errol Flynn and Michael and Pell and William
- 30:30Marsha's production of Bloodline. Saint fans will be glad to know that the comic
- 30:33books are now available on the newsstands. Three Times Mean Good Times. On
- 30:37NBC Today, Kerry Grant and Vesty Drake starre in the premiere of a delightful
- 30:41newcomer to the NBC Sunday lineup, Mister and Missus Blandings. It's top listening,
- 30:45so I'll be sure to hear that Kerry Grants as Mister and Missus Blandings
- 30:49later on NBC back. Jack Moyles is such a versative or was such a
- 31:03versatile actor, and we will hear him in more detail and playing the role
- 31:11of Rocky Fortune, the part that he is best known for. But he
- 31:18is another one of those actors who is in just so many different stories and
- 31:25good voice work. I didn't actually recognize it first as Moyles, but another
- 31:32interesting story, and they really do develop these out, particularly without a commercial
- 31:38sponsor. The Crusade for Freedom essentially raised funds for Radio Free Europe, and
- 31:45there was an episode of the radio comedy Life with Luigi where Luigi went out
- 31:52and raised funds for the program. And you'll hear it referenced sometimes like this
- 32:00one at the end of the episode. I've heard that referenced on Armis Brooks,
- 32:06but it was something that ran throughout the nineteen fifties until nineteen sixty to
- 32:13raise funds for for Crusade for Freedom and Radio Free Europe. All right,
- 32:21well, that will do it for today. We will be back tomorrow with
- 32:24the lineup. In the meantime, sendra comments to Box thirteen at Great Detectives
