Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Yo, welcome to the wonderful world of JP
• 0:08
Speaker 1: Morgan Chase, the bank that decided convicted sex offenders make
• 0:13
Speaker 1: excellent long term clients now as long as their checks
• 0:16
Speaker 1: don't bounce. Now, this is the same institution that will
• 0:20
Speaker 1: freeze your account if you try to venmo your buddy
• 0:22
Speaker 1: fifty bucks for rent, but had no problem shuffling a
• 0:25
Speaker 1: billion dollars for Jeffrey Epstein over fifteen years. If hypocrisy
• 0:29
Speaker 1: were a currency, JP Morgan would need deposits. And how
• 0:33
Speaker 1: about their so called compliance department? The supposed watchdogs of
• 0:37
Speaker 1: the bank reduced a decorative poodles yapping in the corner
• 0:41
Speaker 1: while executive shovel Epstein's wires through the system. Every time
• 0:45
Speaker 1: someone raised a concern. It wasn't treated like a warning.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: It was treated like background noise. You could set off
• 0:51
Speaker 1: a siren in their boardroom and the only thing they'd
• 0:53
Speaker 1: hear is a sweet sound of transaction fees rolling in. Now,
• 0:57
Speaker 1: the real magic trick here is how JP Morgan managed
• 0:59
Speaker 1: to shocked like a deer in headlights when the Epstein
• 1:02
Speaker 1: scandal finally boiled over as if they hadn't been his banker,
• 1:06
Speaker 1: his enabler, his willing accomplice, year after year. They want
• 1:10
Speaker 1: us you to believe they didn't just notice a convicted
• 1:14
Speaker 1: predator moving mountains of suspicious cash. Please you can miss
• 1:18
Speaker 1: me with that. So in this one, we're talking about
• 1:21
Speaker 1: a bank. We're talking about an accessory to a crime spree,
• 1:24
Speaker 1: dressed up in pinstripes and hiding behind quarterly reports. JP
• 1:29
Speaker 1: Morgan didn't just do business with Epstein. They legitimized them.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: They protected them, and they profited from them. And when
• 1:36
Speaker 1: they finally got caught, they did what banks do best.
• 1:38
Speaker 1: They cut a check, shrugged, and waited for the public
• 1:41
Speaker 1: to move on. So let's talk about it. JP Morgan
• 1:46
Speaker 1: Chase looked at Jeffrey Epstein's two thousand and eight conviction
• 1:49
Speaker 1: and thought, convicted sex offender. Sure, but does he still
• 1:52
Speaker 1: have money? And when the answer came back as a
• 1:55
Speaker 1: resounding yes, they decided justice could take a back seat
• 1:58
Speaker 1: to transaction fees. Think about how brazen that is. The
• 2:02
Speaker 1: largest bank in America looked straight out of a man
• 2:05
Speaker 1: who had been branded by a court of law as
• 2:07
Speaker 1: a predator and decided that his wallet outweighed his crimes.
• 2:11
Speaker 1: For most people, a conviction like that would mean door
• 2:14
Speaker 1: slamming shut everywhere you turned. But for Epstein, JP Morgan
• 2:18
Speaker 1: held the door open, offered a malatte, and asked him
• 2:21
Speaker 1: if he wanted his transfers in small bills or need wires. Now,
• 2:26
Speaker 1: their compliance department must have felt like a hall monitor
• 2:29
Speaker 1: at a biker rally, writing up warnings no one was
• 2:32
Speaker 1: ever going to read. Every time they waved a red flag,
• 2:36
Speaker 1: the executives folded it into origami swan's, placed them on
• 2:40
Speaker 1: the desks, and kept cashing Epstein's checks. You can almost
• 2:44
Speaker 1: picture some poor mid level compliance officer screaming into the void,
• 2:48
Speaker 1: hey maybe we shouldn't be doing this, only to get
• 2:51
Speaker 1: told that's cute, but Jeff's got another wire coming through.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: This is complicity dressed up in PowerPoint slides and quarter reports.
• 3:01
Speaker 1: When your compliance division is treated more like decoration than enforcement,
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: you're not running a bank. You're running a criminal enterprise
• 3:08
Speaker 1: with a customer service department. And we're not talking about
• 3:12
Speaker 1: a little pocket change here. JP Morgan held process over
• 3:16
Speaker 1: a billion dollars for Epstein. A billion. You don't accidentally
• 3:20
Speaker 1: move that kind of money. That's not a slip up.
• 3:22
Speaker 1: That's a business plan. It's not like this was some
• 3:25
Speaker 1: rounding error in some spreadsheet buried under billions of legitimate transfers.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: It was sustained, obvious and deliberate. And the scale matters
• 3:34
Speaker 1: here because a billion dollars isn't just keeping a client.
• 3:38
Speaker 1: It's providing the logistical backbone for someone who's moving funds
• 3:42
Speaker 1: through shell companies, offshore accounts, and whatever shady mechanism he
• 3:46
Speaker 1: needed to keep his operation hunting a billion dollars by silence,
• 3:51
Speaker 1: a billion dollars by his cover. And JP Morgan was
• 3:54
Speaker 1: right there greasing the wheels, and the Titanic analogy fits
• 3:58
Speaker 1: too well. Comply and its officers were screaming about icebergs,
• 4:02
Speaker 1: and Jamie Diamond was out on deck puffing a cigar,
• 4:05
Speaker 1: telling everyone the ship was unsinkable. Spoiler alert It wasn't,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: but who cares about sinking when the champagne is still flowing.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: It's not that they didn't know the dangers, it's that
• 4:17
Speaker 1: they thought the rules didn't apply to them. The arrogance
• 4:21
Speaker 1: of thinking they could just float past a convicted sex
• 4:23
Speaker 1: offender without consequences is staggering. JP Morgan didn't just miss
• 4:28
Speaker 1: the iceberg. They steered right into it, hoping the impact
• 4:32
Speaker 1: wouldn't hurt too much because they had the money to
• 4:34
Speaker 1: pay for lifeboats. Risk management, JP Morgan's favorite buzzword turned
• 4:39
Speaker 1: into a punchline. If you were overdraft by twenty bucks,
• 4:43
Speaker 1: they'll slap you with fees that could pay for a
• 4:45
Speaker 1: small country's gdp Epstein pro ran a trafficking empire and
• 4:50
Speaker 1: got concierge service. The whole system is designed to crush
• 4:54
Speaker 1: regular people for pennies, while billionaires and criminals get the
• 4:58
Speaker 1: red carpet treatment. The double standard isn't subtle, it's practically
• 5:03
Speaker 1: their brand. When JP morgan says risk, what they really
• 5:06
Speaker 1: mean is risk of losing wealthy clients. For the rest
• 5:09
Speaker 1: of us, the risk is daring to be poor in
• 5:12
Speaker 1: a bank built for predators. Imagine that boardroom conversation, gentlemen,
• 5:18
Speaker 1: should we cut ties with this convicted pedophile? Long pause, No,
• 5:22
Speaker 1: but let's make sure we charge in premium wire fees.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: We've got shareholders to answer to, nothing like monetizing human
• 5:30
Speaker 1: misery to keep the dividends flowing. You know what wasn't
• 5:33
Speaker 1: said in that room, words like ethics, morality, or responsibility.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: Those don't show up on shareholder reports. What does show
• 5:41
Speaker 1: up revenue from fees, and Epstein's money generated plenty. The
• 5:46
Speaker 1: only crime JP Morgan feared was missing quarterly earning targets.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: Epstein wasn't a liability, he was a business opportunity dressed
• 5:54
Speaker 1: in a scandal. And look the transactions. They weren't subtle,
• 5:59
Speaker 1: shell company, shady payments, bizarre wire activity, all of it's
• 6:03
Speaker 1: green criminal. JP Morgan didn't just miss the smoke. They
• 6:07
Speaker 1: ignored the five alarm fire and tossed on gasoline for
• 6:10
Speaker 1: good measure, Because when the fire burns hot, the fees
• 6:13
Speaker 1: pour in. These weren't small irregularities that could be explained away.
• 6:18
Speaker 1: There were glaring, neon colored signs that something was a miss.
• 6:23
Speaker 1: But if you're JP Morgan, you don't see red flags.
• 6:26
Speaker 1: You see green dollars. The compliance system wasn't supposed to
• 6:29
Speaker 1: catch this. Instead, it turned into a polite suggestion box
• 6:32
Speaker 1: no one ever opened. And when the heat finally came,
• 6:35
Speaker 1: when the lawsuits and headlines caught up, JP Morgan rolled
• 6:39
Speaker 1: out its corporate PR line, we take compliance very seriously,
• 6:44
Speaker 1: seriously optional, maybe seriously profitable, definitely, but seriously not even
• 6:50
Speaker 1: close It's the corporate version of thoughts and prayers, an
• 6:54
Speaker 1: empty phrase meant to placate the public while changing nothing internally.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: That it take compliance seriously when the transfers were happening.
• 7:02
Speaker 1: They didn't take it seriously when staff flagged the risks,
• 7:05
Speaker 1: and they only started mouthing the words when lawyers started
• 7:09
Speaker 1: circling at that point. Seriously is just a punchline. Their
• 7:13
Speaker 1: defense could have been written by a stand up comic. Yes,
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Epstein was bad, but have you seen how Richie was?
• 7:19
Speaker 1: You don't just toss that kind of money out the door.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: Evil can be lucrative. If honesty were their brand, That's
• 7:26
Speaker 1: exactly what they would have said. Instead, they wrapped themselves
• 7:29
Speaker 1: in legal lease, as if wordplay can disguise the fact
• 7:33
Speaker 1: that they were the financial backbone of a convicted predator.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: The truth is simpler and uglier. They didn't care who
• 7:41
Speaker 1: Epstein was or what he did. As long as the
• 7:44
Speaker 1: money cleared. Banks left to brag about values. JP Morgan's
• 7:48
Speaker 1: value was Epstein's balance sheet, and these duplicit as fucks
• 7:53
Speaker 1: acted shocked, shocked when Epstein's crimes became impossible to ignore
• 7:58
Speaker 1: this after they processed his billions like it was business
• 8:01
Speaker 1: as usual. Suddenly JP Morgan had the same energy as
• 8:05
Speaker 1: the kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar,
• 8:08
Speaker 1: white eyed, innocent, pretending it was all a misunderstanding. Except
• 8:14
Speaker 1: this wasn't cookies. This was cash power and complicity in
• 8:18
Speaker 1: one of the ugliest scandals in the modern era, and
• 8:22
Speaker 1: the fake shock only made it worse because no one
• 8:25
Speaker 1: with half a brain believes they didn't know. Their surprise
• 8:29
Speaker 1: was as convincing as a toddler swearing they don't know
• 8:32
Speaker 1: who drew on the walls with crayons. And let's be clear,
• 8:36
Speaker 1: they didn't drop them after his conviction. They didn't drop
• 8:38
Speaker 1: them after lawsuits piled up. They only cut ties with
• 8:42
Speaker 1: Epstein when he became too radioactive for their brand. Not integrity,
• 8:47
Speaker 1: not principle, just optics. That's what passes for ethics in banking.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: They'll tolerate anything, overlook anything, excuse anything, so long as
• 8:58
Speaker 1: it doesn't threaten their image, and the moment it does,
• 9:01
Speaker 1: they sprint to the nearest microphone, issue a hollow statement,
• 9:04
Speaker 1: and old people forget by the next quarter. The entire
• 9:08
Speaker 1: institution is built not on justice but on damage control. YO.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: If compliance were a sport, JP Morgan would be winless,
• 9:17
Speaker 1: zero points, skunked last place. Their highlight reel would just
• 9:23
Speaker 1: be Epstein smiling on his private jet while the bank's
• 9:26
Speaker 1: logo flashed on screen as proud sponsor of the world's
• 9:29
Speaker 1: sleaziest billionaire. You can almost picture the TV commercial, inspiring
• 9:34
Speaker 1: music clips of Epstein walking into JP morgan branches and
• 9:37
Speaker 1: a voiceover saying JP Morgan chase helping dreams come true,
• 9:42
Speaker 1: even the criminal ones. These folks aren't champions of finance,
• 9:46
Speaker 1: They're the water boys of corruption. Now picture these holiday parties,
• 9:51
Speaker 1: these degenerate ass executives raising a glass to Jeff, our
• 9:56
Speaker 1: most profitable felon. Because let's face it, Epstein was a
• 10:00
Speaker 1: treated like a risk. He was treated like VIP platinum.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: No fraud alerts, just the red carpet rolled out in Kashmir.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: Imagine the gall of celebrating profits tied directly to human
• 10:11
Speaker 1: suffering while sipping champagne and eating caviat in skyscraper offices.
• 10:16
Speaker 1: If Hell has a corporate lounge, JP Morgan's Epstein account
• 10:20
Speaker 1: managers already have reserved seating. They treated his money like
• 10:25
Speaker 1: it was spun from gold instead of blood. And when
• 10:27
Speaker 1: the lawsuits came. They tried to launder their conscience with
• 10:31
Speaker 1: a few hundred million in settlements. Spoiler, bloodstains don't come
• 10:35
Speaker 1: out that easy. Well, money can buy silence, it can
• 10:38
Speaker 1: buy settlements, but it can erase history. JP Morgan will
• 10:43
Speaker 1: always be the bank that looked at Epstein's crimes and
• 10:45
Speaker 1: decided yes, but how much can we make off this?
• 10:49
Speaker 1: And I want to be very clear when I say this.
• 10:51
Speaker 1: This wasn't negligence, it wasn't in competence. It was policy.
• 10:57
Speaker 1: Epstein wasn't a liability in their books. He was an
• 10:59
Speaker 1: ass a convicted predator with a billion dollar bank roll.
• 11:03
Speaker 1: JP Morgan saw opportunity, not danger, and that decision wasn't
• 11:07
Speaker 1: made in ignorance, it was deliberate. You don't keep someone
• 11:11
Speaker 1: like Epstein on your client list for fifteen years without
• 11:14
Speaker 1: making a conscious choice to look the other way. And now,
• 11:18
Speaker 1: after everything, the only punishment is a fine jump change
• 11:21
Speaker 1: for a megabank, some bad headlines, a few stern questions
• 11:25
Speaker 1: from senators who probably banked their themselves. We're not getting justice.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: What we're getting, once again is theater. And Epstein's survivors
• 11:34
Speaker 1: are left holding the pain while JP Morgan shrugs, because
• 11:38
Speaker 1: in the eyes of JP Morgan, the human cost never mattered,
• 11:41
Speaker 1: only the bottom line. Now, if an average Joe tried
• 11:45
Speaker 1: to write ten grand in cash, the bank would lock
• 11:47
Speaker 1: the account, call the cops, and act like they stopped
• 11:49
Speaker 1: Pablo Escobar. Epstein did that shit for years, and JP
• 11:54
Speaker 1: Morgan handed a mince with every transfer. That is the
• 11:58
Speaker 1: definition of a two tiered system. For the rich, everything
• 12:01
Speaker 1: is negotiable. For the rest of us, everything is criminalized.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: This is a bank that styles itself as the heart
• 12:09
Speaker 1: of global finance, but in this story they look more
• 12:12
Speaker 1: like the getaway driver. Epstein may have been the monster,
• 12:16
Speaker 1: but JP Morgan fueled the machine, smiling all the weight
• 12:20
Speaker 1: to the vault. They didn't just provide cover, they provided credibility.
• 12:24
Speaker 1: When JP Morgan works with you, it signals legitimacy, and
• 12:28
Speaker 1: that legitimacy gave Epstein power. They weren't just bystanders, they
• 12:33
Speaker 1: were enablers, and even now they'll survive. They always do.
• 12:38
Speaker 1: Banks don't collapse from scandals, they profit from them. JP
• 12:43
Speaker 1: Morgan pay their settlement, They'll polish their brand and get
• 12:48
Speaker 1: back to business as usual. Business, of course, being crime
• 12:52
Speaker 1: with a corporate letterhead. And look, their resilience isn't admirable,
• 12:57
Speaker 1: it's terrifying because it means no matter how deep the
• 12:59
Speaker 1: rock goes, they'll find a way to spin it into revenue.
• 13:03
Speaker 1: So what's the bottom line, Well, JP Morgan did just
• 13:07
Speaker 1: keep Epstein's money flowing. They legitimized them, they empowered them,
• 13:11
Speaker 1: they protected them, and when it finally blew up in
• 13:14
Speaker 1: their face, their only real regret was getting caught. And
• 13:18
Speaker 1: until institutions like this face consequences that actually matter, the
• 13:22
Speaker 1: next Epstein won't have to look very hard for a
• 13:24
Speaker 1: banker willing to hold his hand. All of the information
• 13:29
Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
• 13:32
  Speaker 1: description box.
