- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:07Welcome to episode 20 of Three guys 6 Balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11Today we have a guest on the show, and because Will is the
- 0:14only person who actually knows this guest, I'm going to have
- 0:17Will introduce him. Joining us today, we have self
- 0:21accused 49ers fan Josh Akerman. He is a lifelong, correct,
- 0:25lifelong 49ers fan, although you're not from the Bay Area, so
- 0:29you just made a bad choice, is that correct?
- 0:31Well, I missed. I missed all the championships
- 0:33so my fandom started after the 95 Super Bowl, so I haven't got
- 0:39to be a participant in any trophy hoisting.
- 0:42Well, you've got that in common with Joel and Will here.
- 0:44That's going. To say that sounds quite.
- 0:46A big club? Yep, Yep.
- 0:48Yeah. So.
- 0:50Cool. All right.
- 0:51Well, Josh, we appreciate you coming on the show.
- 0:54It's good to have you. Why don't you just tell us a
- 0:56little bit about yourself and just tell us like how you became
- 0:59a Niners fan and just kept some of your experiences as a Niners
- 1:02fan throughout the years? Well, I I was born and raised in
- 1:04Oregon, so there are no football teams here.
- 1:07My dad actually was a Rams fan, a big Rams fan.
- 1:11And I don't know, maybe. Yeah, right.
- 1:15The rebellion in me, I think I was probably 8 or 9 years old.
- 1:18I had family that lived in the Bay Area and just picked the
- 1:22Niners randomly even before I was a big football fan.
- 1:24And then it grew really quick and I became a kind of a true
- 1:27real Niners fan at, you know, eight or nine years old.
- 1:29And then unfortunately, this the same thing happened to me.
- 1:33My son is 19 and at about the same age, probably 7 years old,
- 1:39he decided to become a Cowboys fan.
- 1:42Unfortunately, we got, I was a young father.
- 1:46I, I, I, I made mistakes allowing him to be a Cowboys
- 1:49fan. I didn't brainwash him and
- 1:50indoctrinate him, you know, young enough.
- 1:52But the same thing that I did to my dad, he did to me.
- 1:55So I guess the world is right. I, I, I I just remind him that
- 1:58it's going to happen to him someday too though all.
- 2:00Right. Well, Josh, I have a question
- 2:02for you to start off here. How do you feel that the Cowboys
- 2:07have won a Super Bowl more recently than the 49ers have?
- 2:11Of course, of course, we've got to start there.
- 2:13I. Mean statistically that's 100%
- 2:15accurate. That is an inarguable fact.
- 2:18So please, please do a deep dive under how you feel about how the
- 2:21Cowboys have been better more recently.
- 2:24It's not a gotcha question, it's a fact.
- 2:26Yeah, it's a fact. It does make me sad.
- 2:29I, I will tell you though, it it, it, it makes me as sad to
- 2:32know my team has been to three Super Bowls in my 20 plus year
- 2:37fandom. No, now, now at this point, 30
- 2:40fandom and never won one. I'm I'm starting to feel like a
- 2:43Buffalo Bills fan from the 90s. Yeah, it's disheartening.
- 2:48It's disheartening, honestly. That was worse.
- 2:50The the Bills was the Bills was much worse.
- 2:52Going four straight times and losing all of them, That would
- 2:55be much worse. Yeah, that that's true.
- 2:57But to answer your question, I mean, yeah, it's it's
- 3:00demoralizing. We all, we all poke fun at
- 3:02Dallas. But to say that it's been even
- 3:04longer for my team. But that doesn't really, I mean,
- 3:07I, I, I, I wasn't really much of A football fan the last time
- 3:10Dallas won their Super Bowl either.
- 3:11It was kind of just shortly after that, too.
- 3:13So the pain of losing 3 is much worse.
- 3:16Yeah, I had to bring it up because that's the only thing
- 3:18that we have over 49ers fans. That's the only thing we got.
- 3:21So might as well hold on to it as long as we can.
- 3:25Nicer stadium. You think AT&T is nicer than
- 3:27Levi's? Yeah.
- 3:28I mean, I kind of just wanted to hear you say that loud so.
- 3:32Levi AT Stadium was pretty nice. Levi's did cost a billion
- 3:36dollars to construct, but that's just because they're paying
- 3:38California wages, not Texas wages.
- 3:40So true. That's true.
- 3:41That's a good point. Yeah, wasn't Cowboy Stadium.
- 3:44I thought that was, Was it near 2 billion or am I just off?
- 3:48Was it just like just over 1 or am I just remembering a random
- 3:52fact from a decade ago? I feel like it was the first
- 3:54billion plus, right? I think it was over a billion,
- 3:57but not a whole bunch more. It says one money goes, OK, your
- 4:01money goes a lot further in Texas than it does in
- 4:03California. You know, Sofi was like 5 or 5
- 4:07or $6 billion. It's for Sofi.
- 4:09So yeah. So 6/6 times the cost of right
- 4:13or five times the cost of of Jerry World, the big cell phone
- 4:16AT&T. All right, well, since Josh is
- 4:22on the show today and he's a 49ers fan, we're going to be
- 4:24talking a lot about the 49ers. But as our starter topic, we're
- 4:28going to talk about which non quarterbacks could potentially
- 4:32win MVP this year. And so before we get started
- 4:36with that, I have some stats here for you guys as always.
- 4:39So since 1957, there have been a total of 69 players to win MVP.
- 4:45Nice. And 48 of those have been
- 4:49quarterbacks, 18 have been running backs.
- 4:52There's been 1 linebacker, 1 defensive lineman and one kicker
- 4:56to win MVP. Oh, I would have hated to watch
- 5:00that NFL season. I hope we get a kicker win MVP
- 5:05this year. What year was that I?
- 5:07Super don't, I don't remember. What year it was off the top of
- 5:09my head, I'd have to look it up real quick. 1880.
- 5:12Five they didn't know how to throw back then.
- 5:15I think it was in the 80s but let me check.
- 5:18Throwing wasn't invented. Too 1982 for the Washington
- 5:22Redskins. Whoa.
- 5:24Careful pal. Was that the strike Shorten
- 5:26season? Oh, I don't remember.
- 5:28Yeah, they played one game and he scored the most points, so
- 5:31that's why he won MVP. I don't know it's possible.
- 5:34All right, so with that, let's get started with which non
- 5:39quarterback could win MVP this year.
- 5:42So let's go in this order. Let's go with Josh and see our
- 5:45guests will have you start off, then we'll go Will Avery and
- 5:48then I'll end. And then after that we'll lead
- 5:50into our 49ers conversation. So Josh, get us started.
- 5:54Which non quarterback do you think could possibly win MVP
- 5:58this season? The easy answer, The low hanging
- 6:01fruit would be fairly running back Saquon Barkley.
- 6:05The kicker though, I was doing some research, just kind of
- 6:08preparing for football season this week.
- 6:10It's very rare that somebody gets that many carries that he
- 6:13got last year and actually makes it through a full season the
- 6:15next year. I I think I would have to say
- 6:18there's a pretty good chance that Saquon Barkley gets hurt
- 6:20this year after as many touches as he had last.
- 6:23Year now we go Christian McCaffrey fan.
- 6:25That's. Right.
- 6:26Yes, that's right. That's right.
- 6:27Same thing happened the previous year, right?
- 6:29CMC had all those carries, all those touches, all that, all
- 6:31that impact and then got banged up the next year.
- 6:34So the. Carries it had all to do with
- 6:37who it was put on the cover of that one video game it.
- 6:41Could be that. It could be that curse.
- 6:43Yeah. So I I mean, I I think it would
- 6:47have to be a running back. You know, Derrick Henry comes to
- 6:50mind. But as long as he's playing with
- 6:53Lamar Jackson, it seems far less likely that he's ever going to
- 6:55be able to have the impact and and, and win an MVP unless a big
- 6:58injury, which it's Lamar Jackson.
- 6:59That certainly could happen. I'm going to say that the safest
- 7:02bet Saquon Barkley. OK.
- 7:04Yeah, just a a fun fact to go along with that and what you
- 7:07said, Josh, and we've actually mentioned this on the show
- 7:10before. It's only happened one time in
- 7:13NFL history where there's been a 2000 yard rusher in back-to-back
- 7:17seasons. Saquon Barkley did it last year.
- 7:19So it's very unlikely that that's going to happen again
- 7:22this year. But I feel like on that team
- 7:25that that team is so stacked and that's what they do.
- 7:28They just run the ball. So I feel like if it was going
- 7:30to be any player, it could potentially be Saquon Barkley.
- 7:34So I like that. Safe choice.
- 7:35Unless he gets hit with Matt and Kirsten, it's not safe.
- 7:38That's right. But for now, it's safe.
- 7:40That's fine. I will.
- 7:41Who you got? Well, I'm not known for my safe
- 7:43choices on this show. Oh no.
- 7:45Or pronouncing names correctly. Just remember, just remember,
- 7:49Will Tua is a quarterback. I am aware, I already picked him
- 7:54for ringless quarterback to win the next ring.
- 7:57OK, I'm already aware. Can't pick a pay or two.
- 8:01The problem is, is that the people who really have the best
- 8:04shot are Justin Jamerson, Jamar Chase, insert your top right
- 8:09receiver here. But you give them, you get, they
- 8:12get what, fifteen 1600 yards? They can get 1415 touchdowns.
- 8:17Your quarterbacks also being the same stats.
- 8:19And so they're never going to give it to the receiver who is
- 8:22arguably doing more work than the quarterback to gain those
- 8:25stats, but they're going to give it to the quarterback anyway.
- 8:27And running back, same boat. The only way they're going to
- 8:29get MVP is if they do, if they if they've got a Saquan type
- 8:33season last year and also have 908 hundred receiving yards and
- 8:38and a sliver touchdowns on top of it.
- 8:40You have to have the all-purpose charts to be a non quarterback.
- 8:42I actually like, and I don't think this is actually going to
- 8:45happen, but I feel like for non quarterbacks it has the highest,
- 8:49one of the highest probabilities.
- 8:50I'm going to do a defense here. I'm going to go with Myles
- 8:53Garretts. I feel like all performing
- 8:55defensive players, he performs consistently the highest and
- 8:58that defense is going to have to carry that team more this year.
- 9:01They are truly trying to build a team to win.
- 9:03It doesn't work. They're not winning, but they
- 9:06are currently and actively every year trying to make steps to
- 9:09win. That's why they drafted 2
- 9:11quarterbacks and two running backs and near back-to-back to
- 9:13back-to-back picks. Granted, I've already already we
- 9:16already talked about that. That's now you could career
- 9:18move, but they're trying to improve their offense because
- 9:21they have semi good defensive pieces and you believe they went
- 9:24defense first round in the draft there.
- 9:25And so they they are making the right choices and that Miles
- 9:30Garrett's going to have to carry that defensive line.
- 9:32I can see him having a monster season.
- 9:34I don't know what the number's going to take for a defensive
- 9:37player to win MVP, especially defensive lineman.
- 9:39It's going to have to be high, high numbers.
- 9:41But I feel like he can put on an absolute show and win more than
- 9:44just defensive player of the year.
- 9:45I think if he was to win it, he'd have to, one, break the
- 9:48sack record and then two, the Browns would actually have to
- 9:51make the playoffs because you're not going to give MVP to a guy
- 9:54who's not in the playoffs. Oh yeah, I mean, just Joe
- 9:56Burrow. If the Bengals have been good
- 9:58last year. Joe Burrow MVP and that's going
- 10:00to get some hate by itself. But but statistically that team
- 10:04was very good offensively. Well, yeah, they can't win
- 10:07anything. You're right.
- 10:08Well, when you don't have we have a wet paper bag as defense,
- 10:11we can we expecting When your defense is allowing 30 plus
- 10:14points a game, your offense can only score so many.
- 10:17True. All right, Avery, who you got?
- 10:20Jamar Chase, you know, back to what Will was saying, I think I
- 10:24mean, I disagree. Well, it's statistically
- 10:27unlikely, but that's I mean, we're talking about not going
- 10:30for quarterbacks here. As someone who plays Road to
- 10:34Glory as a receiver and wins Heisman instead of my
- 10:36quarterback, I know the route you have to take to get that.
- 10:40And it basically means shutting out all your other fellow
- 10:43receivers and catching all the balls.
- 10:46But so that way your, your stats just mirror the quarterback, but
- 10:50you're the receiver. So I basically, I, I feel like,
- 10:54what's his name? I'm having a brain fart.
- 10:57Joe Burrow. I thought Joe Burrow was the
- 10:59MVP, like obviously. But yeah, it came down to just
- 11:02their team record. I think he out of the top five
- 11:07basically between him and then I guess the two top running backs,
- 11:10Henry and Barkley, I think Burrough is the most likely to
- 11:15repeat that level of stat stuffing.
- 11:19And I think that Jamar Chase, I don't see any reason why he
- 11:22would do too much better than he already did.
- 11:25He had a phenomenal season already.
- 11:27So it's just one of those things where it's like likely to go
- 11:30down. The only thing that gives me any
- 11:32more hope is that he's not a running back, which means he's
- 11:34not going to be taking that just brutal beating week in and week
- 11:38out that you have to take if you're going to get to 2000
- 11:41yards. Receivers, I feel like can do it
- 11:44a little cleaner. I just don't see a defensive
- 11:46player winning it. I don't see there being, I mean,
- 11:49you would just have to be more than more than just getting to
- 11:53the playoffs, meaning basically just having a decent enough
- 11:56record to be seriously considered.
- 11:58I feel like you have to have some crazy viral plays.
- 12:03Same with Saquon Barkley and that that hurdle, I mean, that
- 12:06hurdle wasn't consequential. It was just cool.
- 12:09It was unique. It was it freak athletic.
- 12:13And it's just one of those things where it's like, OK, when
- 12:15you have some of these and then people start chattering about
- 12:18you being, you know, like all this is his year.
- 12:21I feel like those big plays, the cool things that they can do is
- 12:25what boosts them. But that's just my opinion.
- 12:28I feel like that's for the ratings and that's what it is.
- 12:30It's a business, it's entertainment.
- 12:32But I like Jamar Chase. I don't think that Barkley or
- 12:36Henry will have. I think they'll both have worse
- 12:39seasons than they had this year. That obviously is not saying
- 12:42they're going to do bad, but I just think I don't trust them to
- 12:46get that. Mainly, I trust 31 other teams
- 12:50have a vested interest in making sure that doesn't happen.
- 12:54But yeah, we'll see. A.
- 12:55Very quick follow up there. Making a memorable play,
- 12:58memorable play. You're talking like Miles
- 13:00Garrett to Mason Realm's head. Is that what we're talking
- 13:03about? Infamous, necessarily, but
- 13:05something like the oh what? I don't even remember his name,
- 13:10but I can visualize the play the South Carolina defensive end
- 13:18Jadavian. Yeah.
- 13:20You see that you're like this man's number one, he's going #1
- 13:23I don't know when, but he's going #1 and so you see that
- 13:26it's like, okay, that's some like, what do you do as an
- 13:29offense? If I was playing Madden and that
- 13:32happened to me and I'm on offense, I would quit the game.
- 13:36Like this game busted, dude. You can't do that.
- 13:40I haven't even given the ball to the halfback yet.
- 13:43But I I think stuff like that is what usually gives more
- 13:47likelihood or more credence to defensive players winning it.
- 13:50Right. I like it.
- 13:51So I got a follow up question and this is open to everybody,
- 13:53not just Avery. I said it earlier, there's never
- 13:56been a wide receiver who's won MVP.
- 13:58So what stats would a wide receiver have to put up in order
- 14:02to win MVP? 2020 / 2000 yards over 20
- 14:06touchdowns. I also think, and sorry this is
- 14:08your pick tool, but I also think say Justin Jefferson this year,
- 14:12if Justin Jefferson goes out for 1800 yards, 20 or 20 touchdowns,
- 14:16they're not giving that MVP to JJ McCarthy.
- 14:19That's just not going to happen. They will not give it to Justin,
- 14:23to JJ McCarthy. It'll go to Justin Jefferson
- 14:25purely because we can't possibly give it to that guy.
- 14:29Look at that guy. He barely wipes his own bottom
- 14:32at this point. I know I said bottom or health
- 14:34adults here. It's going to dress.
- 14:36That show is explicit OK. Well, just I'm in my daughter's
- 14:41bedroom. Yes, I understand.
- 14:42Look at the flowers. This is where I'm at.
- 14:45Here we are. This is this is the way life
- 14:47works. I got two kids.
- 14:48I made a porch choice. What can I say?
- 14:52Well, along that same kind of train of thought though, you
- 14:56know, if you had a really good receiver have a A2020 type
- 14:59season, they could potentially still win it.
- 15:02To answer Joel's question, I think though, it's got to be to
- 15:05a QB that doesn't have a big name because they're going to
- 15:08have the stats too, right? In your mind's eye, picture the
- 15:12the quarterback that's now at Seattle.
- 15:14Remind me, help me, Sam Darnold. Thank you.
- 15:16Sam Darnold. He had a really good season last
- 15:19year. But you know, I mean, most
- 15:21people after the career that he's had are, are going to be
- 15:23really reluctant to give him an MVP trophy.
- 15:26And so, you know, if if he was throwing the ball, I I think San
- 15:30Francisco could potentially have this right.
- 15:32Brock Purdy's a respected quarterback, but because of his
- 15:35irrelevance, because of his Mr. Irrelevance.
- 15:39You know, if they if they had a top notch receiver who had a
- 15:432020 type season, there's a chance maybe that the receiver
- 15:47can get it instead of the QB because they're not respected
- 15:49the same way that a Joe Burrow might.
- 15:51I also think to flip that around is that it has to be a respected
- 15:54enough receiver. If woof pick any #2 riders if
- 16:02Michael Gallant, right? If Michael Gallant goes off this
- 16:05year, they're not giving it to him either.
- 16:07And he's in. I don't even know where he's at
- 16:09now. Tennessee No, he go.
- 16:11He's not in Dallas anymore. He.
- 16:13Plays for the commanders right now.
- 16:15OK, then they're for sure going to be to Jane Daniels.
- 16:17They're not giving it to to Michael Gallant.
- 16:19It almost seems as if we're all kind of dancing around this.
- 16:22It's it's less of Most Valuable Player and most valuable big
- 16:26name player is what it's turned into It's.
- 16:30Also. I, I think part of it is just
- 16:32the, the separation from wide receiver one to wide receiver 2.
- 16:37If all of the wide receivers are eating like everyone's got at
- 16:41least about, we got three wide receivers with 1000 yards and
- 16:45then one of them has 1800 yards. It's like, OK, what are the
- 16:48chances you had 3000 yard receivers this season?
- 16:52Or like, is it the quarterback? Then at that point, maybe just
- 16:55give it to the offensive line like you as a unit get the MVP
- 17:00because we know the quarterback couldn't do it and we know the
- 17:02wide receivers couldn't do it like you guys.
- 17:05But I feel like it has to be that separation.
- 17:07If you've got, you know, a receiver with 18 or 1900 yards
- 17:11and wide receiver 2 has, you know, 720, then it's like, OK,
- 17:16yeah, maybe it like this wide receiver is clearly very special
- 17:19because he's getting a heavily disproportionate amount of
- 17:22passes thrown to him. So Higgins, basically, T Higgins
- 17:26has to get hurt. I was going to say the exact
- 17:28same thing. Is it T Higgins fault or Jamar
- 17:30traits doesn't win you repeat then.
- 17:32No. Well, here's The thing is how
- 17:34many did he have? He had, I think he only.
- 17:39Made 12 games. The thing if he doesn't go any
- 17:42higher, I mean cuz 900 yards and 10 touchdowns is still wild.
- 17:47But of course you know Jamar Chase had 17117 touchdowns.
- 17:51I mean, if I feel like with those same stats, but Burrow
- 17:55throws another 300 yards and three touchdowns to Chase, I'd
- 17:59feel like he should get it. He wasn't that far off.
- 18:02Nope. All right.
- 18:03Well, my pick for potential MVP that's not a quarterback is
- 18:09Christian McCaffrey. The reason why is because, and
- 18:12this obviously this depends on how healthy he actually is.
- 18:16We don't actually know. I feel like we're not really
- 18:17getting many reports on how it's actually going.
- 18:21But as far as I've heard, he's healthy.
- 18:24But you know, his teammates are saying he's healthy, but they're
- 18:26just his teammates. Of course they're going to say
- 18:28that. So it depends on his health.
- 18:30But Christian McCaffrey, when he was with the Panthers in 2019,
- 18:35the Panthers were terrible. They had a terrible record.
- 18:37I think they were 5:00 and 11:00 that season.
- 18:39But his stats, he ran for over 1300 rushing yards.
- 18:44He had 15 rushing touchdowns. He had 116 receptions for over
- 18:481000 receiving yards. I think it's potentially
- 18:53possible this year that Christian McCaffrey, if he's
- 18:55healthy, could have another season like that, just with more
- 18:59rushing yards. Because I'm sorry, Josh, I'm I'm
- 19:03not high at all on the wide receivers for the 49ers right
- 19:07now. I don't like their wide receiver
- 19:10room at all because you've got Brandon Iuke, who is coming off
- 19:14a torn ACL and MCL. So he's not going to be the Iuke
- 19:17that we saw in 2022 and 2023, at least not right away.
- 19:21You've got Jawan Jennings, who is unhappy with his contract and
- 19:25wants either a contract extension to make more money or
- 19:28he wants to be traded. So who knows if he's actually
- 19:30going to be there. Then they've got second year
- 19:32wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who is injured again and was
- 19:35just recently placed on the PUP list this last week.
- 19:39So outside of those guys, you've got DeMarcus Robinson, who was
- 19:43signed in free agency and then a bunch of other guys that nobody
- 19:47knows. So you really only have two
- 19:49receiving threats in that offense.
- 19:50You have George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey.
- 19:53And so I think if Christian McCaffrey is healthy for the
- 19:56entire season, they're going to lean on him very, very heavily.
- 20:01And so I think that it's possible that his stats could
- 20:05look similar to his 2019 stats when he was with Carolina.
- 20:09And the 49ers have the easiest schedule in the NFL.
- 20:12Obviously, that doesn't mean anything because we don't know
- 20:14how these teams are going to be. But as it looks right now, they
- 20:18have the easiest schedule. And so if they can even just
- 20:20make the playoffs and Christian McCaffrey can replicate that
- 20:242019 season. I think he has a shot to win
- 20:27MVP. I would like to give honorable
- 20:29mention to a player on a team that has a possibility to win
- 20:33this. Right.
- 20:33So he's not going to win MVP, but for the same reason you just
- 20:36said Christian McCaffrey. I think Alvin Camaro should go
- 20:38on that same list for the same reasons.
- 20:40They're going to have to lean on him because they've got Tyler
- 20:45Shuck, who is bad. End of conversation.
- 20:49He's just bad. Now.
- 20:50He's obviously he's better than you.
- 20:52Yeah, obviously he's better than me, obviously there's no
- 20:56question. But I.
- 20:59Don't know. I don't know.
- 21:01I don't know. I also couldn't start at Oregon.
- 21:04Okay, there's that. That's a close one.
- 21:07That's a. Close.
- 21:09So they're going to lean on Alvin Camara to do everything in
- 21:14between him and that quarterback.
- 21:17Titans receiver, What's that guy's name?
- 21:19Tayson Hill. Thanks for the help guys.
- 21:21Tayson Hill, They're going to have to do everything for the
- 21:24entire team. You can't expect them to throw
- 21:26the ball and move it downfield. If they still had any actual
- 21:30wide receiver on that team, don't think they have any decent
- 21:32ones anymore. You can't expect 30 or 40 yard
- 21:35passes downfield. We're talking dump out.
- 21:38We're talking crossing rounds. We're talking you're bringing
- 21:40all 11 players up in the box and you're asking them to throw over
- 21:44the top, just begging them to throw the football because you
- 21:48just don't think they can do it. If you look at his Louisville
- 21:51tape, they're not moving the ball down the field a lot.
- 21:54It's all a lot of Roger Sievers and running backs making the
- 21:57plays. He's not zipping the ball for
- 22:00long deep passes. So I I think Albert Camaro is
- 22:03going to be in the same boat. The problem is is that team has
- 22:06an actual possibility to go winless and so he's going to no
- 22:09come nowhere close to actually being at the MVP race.
- 22:12Well, are you not trusting in Kellen Moore?
- 22:14No, I I'm a Dallas fan. Of course I'm not.
- 22:17Come on, Will, Kellen Moore will make Tyler Shuck look like Tom
- 22:22Brady. He didn't do that.
- 22:23OK, OK. He.
- 22:24Didn't is it? Like that Boise State
- 22:26quarterback? Sure is.
- 22:28Yes, yes he is. The same Yeah, he's still
- 22:31floating around over there in Dallas.
- 22:33He went. No, not Dallas.
- 22:34He was often corner Dallas. He's now head coach of the New
- 22:38Orleans Saints. No, never mind, I did know that.
- 22:44His retirement plan? Yes, yeah, let me make some
- 22:48money. Sorry if you can hear my
- 22:50children in the background, they are just yelling just I don't
- 22:54know, 5 seconds goes dance party and just yelling.
- 22:59Very sorry anyway. My my daughter was screaming in
- 23:02the background while we were waiting for you to figure out
- 23:03your computer situation. Well, I didn't hear that, so all
- 23:06good. You know, Kellen Moore, he's now
- 23:09head coach out there in New Orleans.
- 23:11And I, I have less hope for them than I had hope when he was in
- 23:17Dallas. And these Dallas had actual
- 23:19notable players on the team. They just couldn't execute.
- 23:22And you can track up the coaching, but coach, the coaches
- 23:24aren't the ones on the field doing the damn thing.
- 23:26The team in New Orleans, I mean, when the trade deadline is
- 23:30coming around, I expect New Orleans to be having a fire
- 23:33sale. Give us your draft picks.
- 23:35We'll give you our OK players. I can't believe that Tyler Shuck
- 23:38got a fully guaranteed contract. Of course he did.
- 23:40He was pick 40. I can't believe he was pick 40.
- 23:43Yeah, he was trying to fully guaranteed contract Brown's
- 23:45legend Deshaun Watson. Not smart Stewart.
- 23:49Brown's Legend More Now he's not a legend for the reasons he
- 23:52wants to be, but Brown's legend. Infamous, not famous.
- 23:56Infamous. All right, well, let's get on to
- 24:00our 49ers section here. So we've got some questions for
- 24:04you, Josh and I kind of already gave you some of my thoughts on
- 24:08Christian McCaffrey. Obviously, his health is a big
- 24:11concern. So if Christian McCaffrey does
- 24:14go down again this year, how are you feeling about the running
- 24:17back depth? Well, if he does go down, so I'm
- 24:21a Niner fan and so I I'm familiar with these names.
- 24:24You guys may or may not be Jordan Mason and Eli Mitchell
- 24:26were both on the team and, and we're both contributors, but
- 24:30nobody would have ever guessed that they would have been
- 24:32contributors then then when they in it was Isaac, Isaac Grendo.
- 24:36And so I, I, I tend to feel like I've, I've been a football fan
- 24:39probably as long as you guys have it, you can go back to the
- 24:421990s Denver Broncos with Papa Shanahan turning some no name
- 24:47running backs into All Stars. If you guys remember the name
- 24:50Mike Anderson, some no name running backs in the Shanahan
- 24:54system, we're really, really successful.
- 24:56And I think we're already seeing that CMC is the exception of the
- 24:59rule, right? He's really, really good, always
- 25:01has been. But guys like Jordan Mason and
- 25:03Eli Mitchell and and now Isaac Gorenda, who's still on the team
- 25:05in the draft they just picked up.
- 25:07Let me go back to my notes here. I was just looking this up.
- 25:11Oh shoot, where did it come? Jordan, James.
- 25:13Thank you, Jordan James out of Oregon.
- 25:15Yeah, so, you know, I believe he'll he'll be the second, you
- 25:19know, biggest, you know, kind of most productive, right, running
- 25:22back out of this draft behind Ashton Gente.
- 25:25That's right, second most. Will I see your eyes get as big
- 25:28as dinner? Sausage, I there is bloody
- 25:30murder happening out there. Nothing.
- 25:32Stop this show at this point. OK, good, good.
- 25:36You're not. I'm not the one you need to be
- 25:37looking at for second most. So marrying Hampton over there,
- 25:40Avery, anything to say about that?
- 25:43Honestly, when it comes to Hampton and James, it really
- 25:46just comes down to the situation.
- 25:47I like all three of them. I think.
- 25:49I think Jordan James, especially in San Francisco, will do well.
- 25:55I think that North to South running style, he's not the
- 25:58fastest, but boy can that boy accelerate and shed tackles and
- 26:04I think I think he'll do really well there.
- 26:06I think especially having McCaffrey to, I don't know, I
- 26:09don't know how much players teach other players.
- 26:13I mean, I always like to believe they do, but who knows?
- 26:16Yeah, you would think so. But I mean, they're also
- 26:18technically each other's rivals, even though they're on the same
- 26:21team. I mean, it's your job.
- 26:23But no, I think, I think Jordan James, if Caffrey goes down or
- 26:27just, I mean, if what Joel said, you know, if he's a potential
- 26:32MVP candidate, that means he's going to be taking a big, you
- 26:35know, he's going to have a huge workload.
- 26:37So I don't know if that means just trying to keep Jordan James
- 26:40out of it. I mean assuming he can stay
- 26:41healthy or if they are trying to prevent an injury they led.
- 26:46I know. I think Jordan James is third on
- 26:48the depth. Chart isn't.
- 26:50He's third, yeah. I think he'll be second by the
- 26:52end. I do too, Yep.
- 26:54I mean, Isaac Garinder was pretty productive last year
- 26:56though. He was, yeah.
- 26:58He runs weird, dude. He runs weird like.
- 27:02Kyler Murray. Weird.
- 27:03Really suspect I don't remember how Kyler Murray ran.
- 27:07Like a little. Baby, wait.
- 27:08No, no, no, sorry. I'm thinking of the dude who
- 27:09went to high school with. I thought you were talking about
- 27:11him thinking. About Kyler Kelly.
- 27:14Talent Jelly, Yeah. NFL I was like, I don't
- 27:18remember. How that man ran, No, it was
- 27:21some weird thing where he'd run with the ball out like this and
- 27:24then his other arm is like, I don't know, dude, it was weird.
- 27:30Like CCP March. I saw him about to score a.
- 27:32Touchdown. I saw him about to score a
- 27:34touchdown in the camera. The spider Cam starts going
- 27:37down, you know, down to the field, like the actual sideline
- 27:40where you just see the back of him running and it's like, oh,
- 27:44don't like be a man or whatever. I don't even know what to say to
- 27:48that. Like anyway, that's not beside
- 27:51every point. I think to kind of summarize it
- 27:53though, Joel, my opinion is that I'm more confident in the room
- 27:58because of the system and the coach then then the guys per SE.
- 28:02If CMC goes down. But you know, with him not
- 28:05really playing very much at all last year, he's going to be
- 28:08really fresh in theory. And then, you know, with some,
- 28:11with some guys that can have a, a contribution, some real young
- 28:14fresh guys. And then that system I I feel
- 28:16pretty comfortable. Yeah, I mean, I like Jordan
- 28:18James a lot too. I think he's definitely going to
- 28:21contribute. That was the the other thing
- 28:23that I didn't mention is with Christian McCaffrey, if they do
- 28:26have like if they are trying to keep him fresh like Avery
- 28:28mentioned, if they have Isaac Arendo and Jordan James
- 28:31contribute a lot more than obviously Christian McCaffrey is
- 28:34not going to put up those numbers.
- 28:35But if they are just going to run Christian McCaffrey into the
- 28:38ground, then I think he could put up some insane numbers if
- 28:41he's healthy. OK, so next question.
- 28:43I also gave you some of my thoughts on the wide receiver
- 28:45room. So I want to hear, as a 49ers
- 28:48fan, how are you feeling about the wide receiver room as a
- 28:51whole? And then specifically, what are
- 28:54your expectations for second year wide receiver Ricky
- 28:56Pearsall? Similar type response.
- 28:58I mean, I, I have trust in the organization to pick good guys
- 29:02and put them in the right spot with, with the mind like
- 29:04Shanahan, Iuke's a good player and he's being paid like a good
- 29:08player, but he's coming off the injury.
- 29:09I don't think he's going to be out all year.
- 29:11I think he's on the PUP list, but he's a contributor.
- 29:13He's a number one wide receiver, having that type of guy, a top
- 29:17ten, top 12 receiver, even if only for 3/4 of the of the
- 29:20season. I, I start with a a certain
- 29:22degree of comfort. Ricky Pearsall was picked pretty
- 29:24high and, and the only reason he was set back last year or I
- 29:28think one of the primary reasons he was set back is because he,
- 29:30you know, got shot. I mean, once he came back, he
- 29:33was a little bit of a contributor and I expect that
- 29:35that will will pick up this this year.
- 29:37I was looking into this too. So that in the I think fourth
- 29:40round, fourth or fifth round, they picked up Ole Miss wide
- 29:42receiver Jordan Watkins, who ran A43740.
- 29:46You know, when you get down to those levels of the draft,
- 29:48sometimes they're contributors and sometimes they're not.
- 29:50But by picking someone with a very specific skill set, like
- 29:53speed, he had, let's see here my notes 5 plays of 60 plus yards
- 29:58last year at Ole Miss. He's a home run type guy.
- 30:01So even if he's not your, your every down back, even if he's
- 30:04your, you know, kind of, or excuse me, a wide receiver, if
- 30:08he's a situational type guy, he can have a positive impact,
- 30:11stretch the field, get behind some safeties.
- 30:14I think collectively I'm comfortable with the room.
- 30:17And and then of course, there's this guy named George Kittle,
- 30:19who's one of, if not the best tight end in football.
- 30:21George Kittle is the one receiver for the 49ers that I'm
- 30:24actually confident in right now. If Jawan Jennings is there, I do
- 30:29have some confidence in him because he and Brock Purdy do
- 30:31have a lot of, like, they do have a good connection, I feel
- 30:34like. But if he's unhappy and he's not
- 30:37going to be there or he's just not going to play as hard
- 30:39because he wants a new contract or they're going to trade him,
- 30:42that gives me a lot less confidence in the wide
- 30:44receivers. But do you think that the 49ers
- 30:47will trade Jawan Jennings? Or do you think they'll pay him
- 30:49what he wants? I actually don't think either,
- 30:51to be honest with you. John Lynch has been has been
- 30:54pretty shrewd since 2017 and getting to the Niners.
- 30:57He he's got an attitude issue right now, but I, I'm not so
- 31:00certain that it's going to, to remain.
- 31:02I think the organization is pretty buttoned up.
- 31:05Last year is the first year that Juan Jennings ever had more than
- 31:0935 catches in The Four Seasons before last year, he his, his
- 31:14peak output was 35 catches. I think he had a 20 something
- 31:17catch year. Last year he went for 77 and
- 31:20that was because, you know, the latter half of the year he was
- 31:22the number one option. Joanne Jennings to me doesn't
- 31:24really seem like a number one option.
- 31:25He's kind of more of a slot guy in my opinion.
- 31:28Will he contribute? Yeah, he's proven that.
- 31:30I think the organization is smart enough to say, you know,
- 31:34he's valuable enough on a team that thinks that they're still
- 31:37in a window. He's not hardly being paid that
- 31:39much. I think he's making somewhere 4
- 31:41to 7 million. I I think if they just are are
- 31:44patient with him and he's patient with them, they'll,
- 31:45they'll make it to the start of the season without any attitude
- 31:48issues. I I would guess neither.
- 31:50I would guess neither a trade or an extension, yet he'll play out
- 31:53the year. Yeah, I, I like you said, I'm
- 31:55not super, super high on Juwan Jennings.
- 31:57I think he's a solid receiver, but I don't think he's a #1
- 32:00receiver. And I think the reason that he
- 32:03had those stats last year is because of, you know, there was
- 32:05the injury to Iuke there. Debo Samuel was not, you know,
- 32:11like he wasn't healthy. He had several reasons why he
- 32:14sat out of parts of games or missed games last year.
- 32:17And so I just feel like John Jennings was the only, I mean,
- 32:20aside from George Kittle was the only like consistent option that
- 32:25Brock pretty had. So I feel like that's why his
- 32:28stats were a little bit elevated from what they've been in the
- 32:30past. So I just don't think he's
- 32:32really like that #1 receiver, and he definitely doesn't
- 32:35deserve to be paid like a #1 receiver, in my opinion.
- 32:38I don't know exactly what he's looking for as far as
- 32:40compensation, but I don't feel like if I was the 49ers, I don't
- 32:44feel like I would pay him. Well, and for a guy like that
- 32:47you can't expect very much trade value out of it.
- 32:49The star player trade market has plummeted over the past few
- 32:53years. I mean it was not that long ago
- 32:56to see how he traded 2 number ones for Jamal Adams.
- 32:59Now you're getting star receivers going for 5th and 6th
- 33:03round picks and I have bag of rocks.
- 33:05It's it's nothing anymore and we're not talking about a star
- 33:08here, so he's going to be kind of stuck.
- 33:11He was this, this matters. In my opinion.
- 33:13He was a seventh round draft pick.
- 33:15And I think organizations if, if you're an average contributor,
- 33:18they'll look at where you came out, right?
- 33:20If you were a former first or second rounder, teams and GMs
- 33:24will go, OK, this guy could still mean something really good
- 33:26because back then when we were all looking at him to draft him,
- 33:29we had him ranked here, whereas John Jennings wasn't on anyone's
- 33:33draft board until the the seventh round.
- 33:36I agree, Will that there's not going to be a huge trade market
- 33:38for him. I, I think he may just get a
- 33:40little bit humbled. He, you know, with Debo on the
- 33:42team last year, he was the third option.
- 33:44And I don't think Debo's the number one receiver either.
- 33:47No, I've said it all in the show several times.
- 33:48I think he is probably the most overrated player in the NFL.
- 33:52I'm not a Debo fan at all. Yeah, I'm not a Debo Samuel fan
- 33:54at all. He's a Swiss army tool.
- 33:57He a lot of people are. In one.
- 33:59Well, yeah, a lot of people don't remember.
- 34:01He was hospitalized with pneumonia last year.
- 34:04And after that, yeah, through 10 games, he caught 31 balls after
- 34:09that. So I'm not suggesting that
- 34:11pneumonia needed, you know, took him 2 1/2 months to recover
- 34:13from. But you know, that's a pretty
- 34:15serious one. It is.
- 34:17I mean I think even before the last season he was super
- 34:19overrated in my opinion, but that's just me.
- 34:22It it all stemmed for him wanting to be paid like a
- 34:24running back and a receiver. But what he doesn't realize
- 34:27would neither one of them get paid very much and again, very
- 34:30much, right? We're talking way more than the
- 34:33average person. But still, it's just you can do
- 34:37both, OK? You're not an absolute All Star
- 34:40at both of them. If you can't statistically
- 34:43outpace your team's tight end, you don't deserve to call the
- 34:47shots for a bigger contract. Your job is wider, you think
- 34:52you're wide receiver one and your tight end is a better wide
- 34:56receiver than you like step up. I feel like wide receivers
- 35:00because I'm kind of it, it bums me out that there's not more
- 35:04like that. Wide receivers are kind of
- 35:05treated a little, I don't know, poorly, but there's a lot of
- 35:09them. It's kind of the same as running
- 35:10backs where it's like you're like only fan girls before you
- 35:13turn 25. It's like you got a really short
- 35:15window here and then after that it's like all downhill.
- 35:19It's like if you're running back, you got to come and you
- 35:21got to get your deal done quick because like you're going to get
- 35:24hurt and then you're only going to have like 7 solid years and
- 35:27then you're out. But I think with wide receivers,
- 35:30I feel like Jennings, I feel like he's got some like flashes.
- 35:33I mean, there's a game you had like 175 yards, 3 touchdowns.
- 35:36I mean, he hasn't done anything like that after that, but I feel
- 35:41like there's enough good wide receivers.
- 35:43And in fact, I would say the quarterback matters a lot more
- 35:47in that kind of situation. Like statistically, I mean, if
- 35:49you're a good running back, when you better hope you have an
- 35:51offensive line. If you're a good wide receiver,
- 35:54you better hope you have a good offensive line and quarterback
- 35:57because otherwise, like that's how you get the ball.
- 35:59Tyreek Hill last year just like crashed and burned statistically
- 36:03because his quarterback went out.
- 36:04So I feel like for the most part, it doesn't have as much to
- 36:07do with the individual wide receiver.
- 36:10I mean, there's still that talent level, but I think it's
- 36:13there's kind of a margin between like the top ten wide receivers
- 36:16in the rest. Feel like if you got a good
- 36:19quarterback, like any guy you have out there, we'll look good.
- 36:22Julian Edelman, you got Tom Brady throwing to the man.
- 36:27You put any wide receiver there, they're going to do well.
- 36:30So I feel like with him, it's like, dude, you're not.
- 36:32I don't feel like he's anyone special.
- 36:34I do feel like he has all the leverage in the world, though.
- 36:37I feel like the other the guy that's hurt, the guy who got
- 36:40shot in the chest, like, dude, you are wide receiver one like,
- 36:45so you are putting the organization between a rock and
- 36:47a hard place. But I feel like the organization
- 36:50is also in the right. And I feel like they should kind
- 36:53of push back and be like, no, we're not going to do this.
- 36:55We're not going to set that precedent for all the wide
- 36:59receivers now to be like, actually, yeah, I'm a little bit
- 37:01more valuable. I know that our team just
- 37:03suffered A misfortune with this injury.
- 37:05I'm going to add to it by now demanding more money.
- 37:08I feel like if I were the Niners, I'd be like, I try to
- 37:10make him look like the bad guy and then cut him loose and just
- 37:13sign another just as good wide receiver with a fresh set of
- 37:18attitudes. And there's there's a difference
- 37:21between being the best and being the best available.
- 37:24I say this at work all the time. Oh, who you got on your team
- 37:26right now? Who who's doing this for you
- 37:28guys? Oh, we're running transpired to
- 37:30this guy. Well, he's best available,
- 37:32right? This is who I've got doing it
- 37:33because he's best available. Same thing with Debo.
- 37:36He's, he's the best available, right?
- 37:40You put him on 1/3 of the teams in the NFL, he's not going to be
- 37:43#1 I mean, he went to a different team.
- 37:45He went to the team in Washington, right?
- 37:48That team has not been historically good.
- 37:50But he's not wanting to be wide receiver 11 out there.
- 37:53So he's he's best available for the situation he was in and now
- 37:56he's just another guy on the team.
- 37:59So that that's where this whole attitude things come from.
- 38:01You can have a certain level of attitude if you are also this
- 38:05much good, but when your attitude goes above your play
- 38:08level, you're no longer best available and you're just going
- 38:10to be shipped to the curb, pal. Yeah.
- 38:12Hey, I have a question for you guys because Avery mentioned
- 38:15this player. I just have a side question
- 38:17that's has nothing to do with the 49ers.
- 38:19Is Julian Edelman Hall of Famer? No.
- 38:21I mean, Carly, right? No.
- 38:23No, he's not. I thought you would know that.
- 38:24OK, let me rephrase the question.
- 38:26Will Julian Edelman be in the Hall of Fame?
- 38:29No, I. Don't think so.
- 38:30Probably not. Even if he has the third most
- 38:34receiving yards in the playoffs in NFL history.
- 38:37That's such a niche stat. Of course you have the third
- 38:40most. You went the number one most.
- 38:42You were there more than any largest ever.
- 38:44Of course you probably should have more.
- 38:46You should be higher up on that list.
- 38:48That you've. Underperformed.
- 38:50There was a kid I knew in college that bragged about how
- 38:52many miles he had travelled, like through the air.
- 38:55And all I could think about was like, I wonder what your dad
- 38:58does like it's. Like.
- 39:00Cool, dude. Like, that's sweet that you all
- 39:02throughout your childhood, you got these plane tickets.
- 39:04You know, it's like, I've got the most receptions.
- 39:06Like, wasn't Tom Brady your quarterback for a long time?
- 39:08He's like, yeah. It's like, OK, well, all right.
- 39:11It doesn't matter really who you are.
- 39:12I could have been that. He made some clutch plays in the
- 39:14playoffs though. You got it mate, he made some
- 39:16clutch. No, he's good, but I like to, I
- 39:18like to hold called the Hall of Fame in a little bit higher
- 39:22reverence. Well, but for what, for what
- 39:24it's worth, you guys remember just a couple years ago, they
- 39:26did the what was it the, the year there?
- 39:29There was like a special year. What they added, you know, it
- 39:31was year 50. I think they added in an extra
- 39:3325 players all at once. That was good in the sense that
- 39:37there were some names that got in that would have taken a lot
- 39:39longer to get in that were deserving to get in.
- 39:41But there was, if you look at that name of the 25 extra cats
- 39:44that got in, there were some guys that you're going really,
- 39:48is he really a Hall of Famer? And so under normal
- 39:51circumstances, we, we would all probably say no, But you know,
- 39:54how long until right. We're, we're 20 something years
- 39:57away from the 75th year anniversary.
- 39:59And, and whoever has replaced Rodger Goodell by then want to
- 40:02will want to make their mark on the NFL Hall of Fame.
- 40:04And maybe they add in an extra 25 people at that time.
- 40:07I could see Julian Edelman getting added in in a niche
- 40:10group of people like that. OK.
- 40:12So I want to ask you guys to follow up to that now.
- 40:16Devin Hester is in the Hall of Fame because of his returning
- 40:20ability. Could you see dwelling Element
- 40:22getting in for a similar reason to Devin Hester?
- 40:25Because Devin Hester's receiving stats are garbage.
- 40:28He's just in the Hall of Fame because of his return.
- 40:30Ability. I'm going to say no because you
- 40:33were not regularly double covering Julie Gentleman.
- 40:37You were not regularly scared because he was on the field.
- 40:40He wasn't the problem they. Probably should have been, but
- 40:44you had difference of coordinators saying kick the
- 40:46ball out of bounds, will take the penalty.
- 40:48Don't kick to that guy. They're not defense
- 40:51coordinators, especially teams coordinators, excuse me saying
- 40:53whatever you do, don't kick to that guy.
- 40:55You didn't have that with literally anybody else in the
- 40:58NFL at that time. It's a little different, right?
- 41:00He's the greatest return man of all time.
- 41:04There are probably 1 or a couple punters in, but they're probably
- 41:07only the greatest punters of all time.
- 41:09A position that we would never, never consider, except that
- 41:13they're literally the best to ever do it.
- 41:16Yeah, I don't. I don't.
- 41:17I guess what I'm saying is I don't think Julian Edelman's
- 41:20strength ranks are that. I don't want to say like
- 41:24impactful or like, I mean, returning is a big thing.
- 41:27Kicking field goals is a big thing.
- 41:29Punting, you know, strategically is a big thing.
- 41:32But I think like having Tom Brady's a quarterback and taking
- 41:36advantage of those moments, I mean, that's great.
- 41:39It's fantastic. I mean, he's kind of like the
- 41:42Dellavedova, you know? From the Cavs team where it's
- 41:45like. Yeah, dude, you did awesome.
- 41:47Or Jeremy Lin. It's like, yeah, you crushed it
- 41:49when Carmelo went out, but then everyone figured out your game
- 41:53and they they stopped you. Like that was impressive, but
- 41:56like, it's impressive because you're you're a small, you're a
- 41:59small white guy. So like.
- 42:02I don't know anyways. I think it was this way.
- 42:06Sorry just just my last thoughts.
- 42:07Here is it you can take, you can take almost any other wide
- 42:12receiver in the NFL with that time and swap them out for
- 42:15Julian Edelman and you're going to get probably similar stats.
- 42:19He did so well because he had such a good relationship with
- 42:22Tom Brady and he worked with them so much.
- 42:24And so they just knew he knew where to be and he knew where
- 42:27Tom wanted him to be. You cannot take any other
- 42:30returner in the NFL at that time.
- 42:33Swap them out with Devin Hester and even if come close to
- 42:36expecting the same level of production, OK.
- 42:39If he was funnier at the Tom Brady roast, we might have a
- 42:42different opinion, but he wasn't that funny and.
- 42:44Maybe he wasn't. That he wasn't that funny at the
- 42:46roast. Guys, I don't think we can even
- 42:48consider a green jacket or, I'm sorry, gold.
- 42:51Gold jacket, not a green jacket. That's.
- 42:53Wrong sport. Wrong.
- 42:54Sport. The green one we can consider,
- 42:56not the gold. Maybe.
- 42:57Yeah, maybe he can have I. Don't think his golf games that
- 42:59good. All right, anyways, back to the
- 43:0349ers. So let's talk a little bit about
- 43:05Brock Purdy. Yeah, so.
- 43:08The 49ers paid him a five year, $265 million contract.
- 43:14That's worse than Dak Dak. 'S is 60 million a year.
- 43:17It's not worse. Dang it, Dakson is.
- 43:20Dakson is by far the worst. I was hoping.
- 43:23Yeah, they paid him a five year, $265 million contract this
- 43:27offseason, which is an average of $53,000,000 a year.
- 43:30That's more than the average that Justin Herbert makes, Lamar
- 43:34Jackson makes, and Jalen Hertz makes.
- 43:37Do you think he deserves that and do you think he will live up
- 43:41to that contract? He has over performed his draft
- 43:44stock. What we have found with
- 43:45quarterback contracts the last handful of years, they just
- 43:49continue to go up and up and up. It won't take very long before
- 43:52several other QB contracts exceed that value and we'll be
- 43:56looking down at Purdy's contract going huh, that feels pretty
- 44:00reasonable now. It's really, really important to
- 44:03know this and I think you guys maybe already do.
- 44:05It is structured, very team friendly.
- 44:07This year the cap hit is only 9 point, 1,000,000, next year
- 44:1124.8. That's a good sum of money,
- 44:13right? But it's not 55 in 27, it's 30.8
- 44:17million. Again, very large sum of money,
- 44:19but not 55. It's only about 60% of that.
- 44:22It's a very team friendly, structured deal.
- 44:25Yeah, he's getting over $100 million guaranteed.
- 44:29But they did such a fantastic job of of kind of structuring
- 44:32the contract that if he meets expectations or exceeds
- 44:37expectations, he will have earned that money.
- 44:40If not, he won't be on the roster in four or five years
- 44:43from now and they will only have paid him 100 million, you know,
- 44:47in in a, in a 3-4 year time span.
- 44:49So it's not as damaging as I think a lot of people see it at
- 44:53face value that the ticker on the bottom of ESPN says that
- 44:56huge value. Everybody thinks, oh, the
- 44:59window's closed. San Francisco can't win anymore.
- 45:01They're paying too much money to that seventh round quarterback.
- 45:03Not so fast. So while you're talking, I
- 45:06actually just. Thought of a conversation I had
- 45:08with a a long time ago and I don't remember when this was or
- 45:11who it was about, but it was about an NBA player and and I
- 45:15was saying I can't believe that this team paid this guy this
- 45:18amount of money like he doesn't deserve that.
- 45:21And Avery was like, well, he does deserve it because they
- 45:24paid him it. Like he does deserve it because
- 45:26that's what the market value is. Do you remember that?
- 45:30Yeah, if someone has that amount of.
- 45:33Money and decides to give it to someone.
- 45:36You better believe that man deserves that money.
- 45:38Like that guy plans to make that money back.
- 45:41I mean, if he's an idiot or he's, he's a trust fund baby or
- 45:43something doing it, that's one thing.
- 45:45But when I see some sort of big payout, I'm like, the man's
- 45:48valuable. The man's valuable to that guy.
- 45:51I have, I have thoughts on this though.
- 45:53I actually I don't think it's overpaid at all.
- 45:56In fact, I think I was looking it's like the seventh highest
- 46:00quarterback contract currently or it's like tied for seventh.
- 46:03But on top of that, I looked at Joe Burrows contract who doesn't
- 46:07have the highest think DAC is still the highest and Joe Burrow
- 46:11though has the largest share of his team salary cap at like 24%
- 46:18and some change. Purdy has like 18.
- 46:21It's like, I think it's like 17 or 18%.
- 46:24It's like a lot, a lot lower considering it's about the same
- 46:27amount. That being said, I don't think
- 46:29he's robbing his team. But also I was looking something
- 46:33up yesterday and it made me think about this.
- 46:38If there was a quarterback that spent two years for a team
- 46:42starting and averaged in those two years, well, I guess I think
- 46:47total he had like 3200 yards for two seasons, Two seasons, 3200
- 46:51yards, 11 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
- 46:56Like garbage, Like not good at all, then gets traded and is a
- 46:59backup somewhere for four years. Do you think it's likely that
- 47:03that man becomes a Hall of Famer?
- 47:06No, no. No, I mean, obviously I'm
- 47:08telling. The Story League.
- 47:09With the leading questions and stuff.
- 47:10But yeah, he it's Steve Young. I all that to say, I was looking
- 47:15up his career because I didn't know much about him.
- 47:17It makes me think that a lot of this comes down like the same
- 47:20with wide receivers and their play compared to their
- 47:22quarterbacks. I think a lot of it is the
- 47:24quarterbacks compared to the rest of the team.
- 47:26I feel like Joe Montana and the what's his name, Walsh.
- 47:30Who was who was the quarterback back then?
- 47:32Bill Walsh, Bill Walsh all. Right.
- 47:37They were doing great. So he inherits this system.
- 47:41He's got Jerry Rice, he's got all these other like legendary
- 47:44weapons there, does really well, has some good seasons, but it's
- 47:47not like he was some amazing, amazing quarterback.
- 47:51I think a lot of it was like getting in the rhythm of it.
- 47:53You were a backup for four years, came in, then he got hurt
- 47:59after going four and four. Some of the third string
- 48:02quarterback comes in, wins like five straight games, then he
- 48:06gets hurt and they had already decided because his last game
- 48:09that he started they, what's his name, Joe or no Joe?
- 48:13Steve Young was healthy and ready to go back in.
- 48:15Coaching staff decided now we're sticking with the third Stringer
- 48:18because he's actually winning games and then after that game
- 48:21he gets hurt. So Steve Young does go back in
- 48:25and then from then on basically just Hall of Fame career
- 48:28statistics like the whole rest of the way.
- 48:31All that to say is I think there's too much emphasis put on
- 48:35individual stats as if these are individual mini games that these
- 48:38players are playing rather than a individual or than a team
- 48:41based game. I think Kyle Shanahan, was it
- 48:45Kyle Shanahan or who's the Shanahan that's currently there?
- 48:49Kyle, Kyle, Who's the other one? Mike is a.
- 48:52Stat MM that's right. I get better because I was.
- 48:54Looking up, so I, I've got both of them.
- 48:57I think Kyle Shanahan's a great coach.
- 48:58And I think that like you, Josh was saying, I think that they've
- 49:01got the culture, they've got the office.
- 49:03I think they just have a lot more it's more ordered in
- 49:05structure than a lot of organizations right now.
- 49:07And I think that that kind of system.
- 49:10And then I think the contract that was given to Purdy is less
- 49:14about the money and more about the confidence of the
- 49:17organization. Can give him, can give him
- 49:19basically by saying, look, I know for the past like 4 years,
- 49:22you felt like you are just one bad game away from being traded.
- 49:26Like you are this guy that came in, you're the Jeremy Lin of
- 49:29this team right now. Like this is impressive that
- 49:32you're doing this. But like, we still think this is
- 49:35a fluke because of, you know, where you were drafted, where
- 49:38you came from. You weren't some highly touted
- 49:40quarterback. But now that we're giving you
- 49:42this money like we are investing in you and I'm, I have, I guess
- 49:47I don't like the 49ers. I don't like Kyle Shanahan, but
- 49:50I respect him enough to think that if he's doing that, they've
- 49:53got to have a plan here because there's no way you would sign a
- 49:56quarterback that's middle of the road in my mind to this massive
- 50:00contract just to keep you right in the middle of the NFLI.
- 50:03Think that there's more to this guy than I see Well, and I think
- 50:08it's important. Relativity as someone who's been
- 50:11a 30 year 49ers fan, you know Steve Young was still on the
- 50:15team when when my fandom began since then it's it's been a
- 50:19little bit of a mess I mean Alex Smith was promising and Colin
- 50:23Kaepernick was promising they can't come back.
- 50:26It's. Again, it's still.
- 50:28Working out. To say that he's overpaid I.
- 50:32I can only, you know, compare him to everyone else that we've
- 50:36had on the roster for the last 30 years.
- 50:39Jeff Garcia, who was in his mid to late 30s by the time, yeah,
- 50:43by the time we had him on the team, you know, on the team for,
- 50:45for two or three years at the tail end of his career.
- 50:48You know, I think he actually might have been in his early 30s
- 50:49because he went on to Cleveland after that.
- 50:51So that's where he went today. Well, like Dak for example, I, I
- 50:57actually think this is my opinion.
- 50:59I feel like Tony Romo is better than Dak.
- 51:01So if I was a 30 year Cowboys fan, I would be apoplectic about
- 51:04the money that they gave to Dak Prescott because the team has
- 51:08proven that they can find a better quarterback.
- 51:11The team hasn't proven in San Francisco that they can find a
- 51:13better quarterback in a 30 year run.
- 51:15You know, I, I think I would, I would venture to guess if you
- 51:18were to look at a 5 or 10 year sample size of all of the first
- 51:22round quarterbacks draft Brock pretty is better than over half
- 51:26of them. They got a good guy.
- 51:28He's maybe not the top three, top five top 6 quarterbacks in
- 51:31the league, but he's capable of taking the team to the Super
- 51:33Bowl, just not winning one. Sorry, I had shots fired.
- 51:40I I didn't say this before. When?
- 51:42Avery was talking about Shanahan, but I was going to say
- 51:44unless he's in the Super Bowl, he's a good coach.
- 51:46But when he's in the Super Bowl, not so much.
- 51:48I wish I could. Disagree with that?
- 51:52I wish I could disagree. We'd like to pick.
- 51:54Out part of that sentence I truly cared about.
- 51:57I also agree Tony Romo better than DAC Prescott.
- 52:00I didn't hear a single other word you said.
- 52:01Then you said Cowboys players and I started paying attention.
- 52:04So yes, I agree Tony Romo better than DAC Prescott.
- 52:09Also when you said Prescott, you could not have sounded like a
- 52:12more old white person. So thank you for doing that as
- 52:15well. It was just like, just like
- 52:16Avery when he was saying Tony. Dorsett last week.
- 52:20Dorsett, Tony Dorsett. Dorsett.
- 52:23Is it Dorset? Yeah, yeah, it's Dorset.
- 52:27I didn't. Make fun of you I.
- 52:29Didn't make fun of you last? Week so I had to this time.
- 52:32Yeah, I didn't even know it. All right, we're getting a
- 52:37little bit low on time here. So just a couple more questions
- 52:39for you, Josh. OK, no problem.
- 52:41So. Just real quick answer on this.
- 52:44One So which of the 49ers draft picks was your favorite and why?
- 52:48I will try to go quick. I'm going to touch on.
- 52:50Two first one is the obvious one, right?
- 52:53They've got the the first round pick who is 11th overall.
- 52:57Help me. Help me remember the D lineman
- 52:59Michael Williams. Thank you.
- 53:01Yep. Yep.
- 53:02He's going to be a contributor right away, but that's kind of
- 53:05low hanging fruit, right? When you're top 12 drafted,
- 53:07you're supposed to be a contributor.
- 53:09But but, but kind of the one that I touched on earlier is
- 53:11that Jordan Watkins from from Ole Miss, the wide receiver, I
- 53:14think he's going to have an impact this year.
- 53:16There's going to be a couple long touchdowns that make it on
- 53:19ESPN as a first year player as a rookie because of his speed.
- 53:23He he's brought in, he's he's drafted for a very specific
- 53:27niche. He's not he's not going to be
- 53:30catching 6-8 balls a game. He's going to catch one or two a
- 53:33game, and 1:00 every third game is going to be a deep, deep
- 53:36ball. I would say that was a really
- 53:38sneaky good value pick in my opinion.
- 53:40Yeah, I like that. I think he can be a.
- 53:42Contributor for them, especially with, you know, the situation
- 53:45that they have with their wide receiver room, he's going to
- 53:47have opportunities. And so it's not like he's going
- 53:49to have a lack of opportunities. And I think with, like you said,
- 53:51with that speed, he could be a contributor on not a ton of
- 53:55plays, but he's going to make some some plays in each game
- 53:59that's going to make a difference in them either
- 54:01winning or losing. So I like that a lot.
- 54:04All right, so the next question is which NFC West team is the
- 54:09biggest threat to the 49ers this season and why do you think that
- 54:14is? I would say it's.
- 54:16It's not. Even debatable it's the LA Rams,
- 54:18one of the best head coaches in football, still a top tier
- 54:23quarterback, a committed owner that's always willing to bring
- 54:26in good pieces that that defensive line with Jared Verse.
- 54:29I mean, they proved it when they got to the playoffs last year.
- 54:31They underperformed throughout the regular season because of
- 54:33injuries and then they got to the playoffs and and kind of
- 54:36exceeded a lot of people's expectations.
- 54:38I I wouldn't be surprised if they made some made some some
- 54:41noise come playoff time again. However, I mean, they do have a
- 54:45first place schedule. If you look at their schedule,
- 54:46they've got like seven playoff teams on their schedule.
- 54:49San Francisco doesn't this year. San Francisco, I think besides
- 54:52the Rams, I think that's the only two games that they have
- 54:54against the playoff team. Everyone else they'll be
- 54:56favorite, if not in every one of the 17 games they may end up.
- 55:00I mean, if they if they meet expectations or exceed
- 55:03expectations, they'll likely be favored in every game they play
- 55:05this even a couple of their difficult opponents.
- 55:08They play at Tampa. I mean, does that does that make
- 55:11you scared for people that really know how how good San
- 55:14Francisco is? They were, you know, an overtime
- 55:16away from beating the chiefs in the Super Bowl 18 months ago.
- 55:19I I think they could do really, really well with statistically
- 55:23the worst, worst schedule going to Tampa real quick I'm.
- 55:26AI am a Baker Mayfield Glazer. I love Baker Mayfield.
- 55:31I I love that guy. Did you just did you just.
- 55:35Use Glazer as if you were some hip 20 year old.
- 55:38You've been blazing that guy. Good golly, yes.
- 55:41Yeah. Or a loss.
- 55:42Or a loss. Yeah, I took my aura away.
- 55:49I'm not going to try to aura farm.
- 55:50It's not working anyway. I'm AFK, I'm AFK aura farming.
- 55:55Right now. All right.
- 55:56I'm going to cut that part. I just learned about this I.
- 56:04Just learned about. This word on.
- 56:05Friday, I had no idea what you were talking about.
- 56:10I'm just. I'm the youngest on this.
- 56:11Show I should be using those words.
- 56:16OK, final question and this, well, I guess it's technically a
- 56:20question, but I want you to do a game by game win loss prediction
- 56:24for the 49ers. So I'm going to read off each
- 56:27week's game and then I want you to just tell us, win or loss,
- 56:31let's do it. I do.
- 56:32I do it every April. Or may when the schedule comes
- 56:34out. We all do that with our team,
- 56:35right? Yes, yes we did.
- 56:37Avery does that with his. Team right?
- 56:38Yeah, Avery C Signor. All right.
- 56:42Week 1 at the Seahawks. That's a win Seattle is going
- 56:45to. Underperform this year?
- 56:47OK Week 2 at the Saints. Easy win.
- 56:51Week 3. Home versus the Cardinals.
- 56:53Because they're at home. I'll give them the win 3 and O
- 56:57wait, is anybody who's at home? Who's at home?
- 57:00San. Francisco is at home Week 3.
- 57:02OK, home opener and so Lauren, she recording aren't she doing?
- 57:06I thought you were keeping a record.
- 57:07Well, I wasn't, but I am now. He's got a win, win, win.
- 57:11Yep. OK.
- 57:12Week 4 Home versus the. Jags I'm going to give.
- 57:16Him the home field advantage Jacksonville's coming from
- 57:19Eastern Time zone. I'll give San Francisco the win
- 57:22for a four and O start OK week 5 out the Rams.
- 57:27Yeah, rims. Are a good team on the road
- 57:29short week I'm going to give the Rams the nod this one.
- 57:32First loss of the season Week 6 at the Bucks going to the.
- 57:36Eastern Time zone, Tampa's. Formidable I'll I'll give Tampa
- 57:39the win there too. They lose 2 straight and people
- 57:41start to look for the panic button in San Francisco.
- 57:44It's like straight up just like calling.
- 57:46It exactly how it's going to go. Yeah, exactly it.
- 57:49Was like this sounds exactly how I.
- 57:51Feel like it's. Just everything you get rid of
- 57:53Brock, Bernie's, you know, it's. 2.
- 57:54Games in a row? Yep, Yep.
- 57:56Wait, is Christian McCaffrey? Still healthy at this point, he
- 58:00yes, he's healthy. Thank goodness OK when he's.
- 58:04Not when I go through. This when he's not, just let me
- 58:06know. OK, OK, OK, let me say.
- 58:09When say when, say when? All right, or maybe or maybe
- 58:14maybe he got injured in Jacksonville, but it's a short,
- 58:17small injury. He'll be back in a few weeks.
- 58:19Yeah, it's a, it's a small injury.
- 58:21So that's. So that's why they lose.
- 58:23The two, right? That's why they lose, yeah.
- 58:25Yep, so he at the at the tail end of the Jacksonville.
- 58:27Game, they were already up two scores, but yeah, so So he
- 58:30missed both of the last two games.
- 58:32We're four and two and everyone's worried.
- 58:34OK, yes, All right. Week 7 Home versus the.
- 58:36Falcons, He's still injured. We're going to squeak past.
- 58:39Atlanta, I think there's there's you know, Merritt in the East
- 58:43Coast, West Coast thing, Sunday Night Football.
- 58:46All right, week. 8 at the Texans.
- 58:48CMC still out, We're at Houston. We'll lose that game.
- 58:51We are now five and three-week 9 at the Giants.
- 58:55Easy, easy victory. Mccaffrey's back, by the way.
- 58:59They they win by three scores. Probably Jackson Dart's first
- 59:03start of the season. Jackson Dart.
- 59:05They lose the Giants. Lose but dart.
- 59:08Does. Surprisingly well, and chatter
- 59:10begins to rise in New York just. So everybody knows who's
- 59:16listening to this podcast. Who doesn't like Jackson Dart.
- 59:18When Jackson Dart is a great quarterback, I will rub it in
- 59:22your face. I will.
- 59:23And I'll be behind him being like, yeah.
- 59:25Joel. Tell them.
- 59:27Rub it in their face, Joel. All right, Week 10 home versus
- 59:33the Rams, we'll get that V7 and three.
- 59:36Week 11 at the Cardinals. We'll lose.
- 59:38On the road 7 and. 4 Wolf OK Week 12 Home versus the
- 59:43Panthers. That's a dub Monday Night
- 59:45Football. At right.
- 59:47Now, there is no way. There's no way the Panthers win
- 59:51a Monday Night Football game. No, it's for sure getting flexed
- 59:54out. There's no way.
- 59:54Yeah. All right.
- 59:57Week 13 at the Browns. Cleveland's terrible.
- 59:59That'll be a win. OK, week. 14 is a bye week 15.
- 1:00:03Home versus the Titans This will be a complete.
- 1:00:08Drubbing a complete blowout coming off the bottom, we're
- 1:00:12going to say that was going to be a close.
- 1:00:14Game I was like, what are you doing?
- 1:00:15With this a complete blowout, this will be a drubbing.
- 1:00:19People will will turn it off by the second quarter.
- 1:00:22It's a win. San Francisco goes ten and four.
- 1:00:26OK, Week 16 at the Colts, Monday Night Football.
- 1:00:29I've got a win there too. Which?
- 1:00:31One, I'm like over there season win total with two games left.
- 1:00:35That's right. Week 17 at home versus the
- 1:00:37Bears. I could see.
- 1:00:38Chicago being all right this year, I'm going to have them.
- 1:00:41Lose in that game. OK, you said the right thing.
- 1:00:43We have a few Bears fans who listen to this show, so.
- 1:00:45Oh. Good, good, good, good.
- 1:00:47OK. So you haven't?
- 1:00:48Been 11 in the. 6 that'd be that'd be 1111 and 5 going into.
- 1:00:54Week 18 against Seattle? Yeah.
- 1:00:56Week 18 versus Seattle. Home versus Seattle.
- 1:00:59Yeah, that's if if the game. Means anything, which I think
- 1:01:03with only eleven wins at will, I think they'll beat up on Seattle
- 1:01:06in Week 18 to go. I could see that game getting
- 1:01:09flexed into a more. Prominent time period big
- 1:01:12revelry game. It's probably with Sam Darnold
- 1:01:16leading the boys up there. It's probably going to mean
- 1:01:18something for both teams. Possibly winner gets a wild card
- 1:01:21spot. I don't think it'll be for the
- 1:01:22division, but like that could have serious playoff
- 1:01:24implications on that. Winner gets a loser loser dozens
- 1:01:27that that night backs to be a really good in the season game.
- 1:01:31Well, well, what Week 18 though the last year there is.
- 1:01:34No Sunday night, Thursday night or Monday night.
- 1:01:35So it would have to be the marquee game.
- 1:01:37It'd have to be the Sunday. Well, there's a Sunday night.
- 1:01:40There's a Sunday game, there's a Sunday night.
- 1:01:42It would have to be the marquee. Game.
- 1:01:43It's the only prime time. Game that gets flexed into so to
- 1:01:46to think that Seattle is good enough to compete right.
- 1:01:48I mean you're you're you're saying that the the Rams would
- 1:01:51be kind of locked into the one spot and then San Francisco and
- 1:01:56Seattle vying for, you know, both at 10 or 11 wins vying for
- 1:01:59a playoff spot yeah, seems feasible.
- 1:02:02Seems feasible. OK, so wait, so so at 12 and
- 1:02:05five are the 40? Nine years winning the division
- 1:02:07or no? They are, but not because
- 1:02:10they're better. Than the Rams.
- 1:02:12I think they're pretty equal to the Rams.
- 1:02:13The Rams just have a first place schedule.
- 1:02:14They have to go to Baltimore, they have to go to Philadelphia.
- 1:02:18They have a murderer's row of teams that they play against and
- 1:02:21San Francisco just plays a bunch of Patsies.
- 1:02:23They have to go to the Ravens and the Eagles, Yeah.
- 1:02:27I was looking. Yeah, that's and and others and
- 1:02:32others and others. Yeah, It's, it's it's rough.
- 1:02:35I think they play against the Chiefs.
- 1:02:37I I was looking at it earlier. They play against a bunch of
- 1:02:40pretty nasty teams. All right, all right, I like the
- 1:02:44prediction. So.
- 1:02:45We have a Seahawks fan saying the Seahawks are winning the
- 1:02:47division and we have a 49ers fan saying the 49ers are winning the
- 1:02:50division. Weird.
- 1:02:51So I know, right? Will, Will, we should just say
- 1:02:55the Cowboys are winning the division.
- 1:02:57They're not. They're going to fight for 3rd
- 1:02:59place. They're going.
- 1:03:00To they're going to be in an absolute knockout.
- 1:03:02Drag. Out for not last.
- 1:03:04It'll be them and the Giants who can get to six wins first.
- 1:03:08That's who's going to Whoever gets to six wins first is going
- 1:03:11to not get 4th. It's going to go Eagles,
- 1:03:15Washington and then flip a coin. You're going.
- 1:03:22To get third baby. It depends on.
- 1:03:24How early the Giants like Jackson?
- 1:03:26Darts start so Joel the the. The Seattle fan who thinks that
- 1:03:33their team's going to win, I think there's some value in
- 1:03:35looking at who odds makers. Vegas money says that Seattle is
- 1:03:40a 7 1/2 season win total over under.
- 1:03:45The Rams are at 9 1/2 in San Francisco's at 10 1/2.
- 1:03:47So, I mean, I get a Seattle fan feeling warm and fuzzy, but
- 1:03:51people that are putting their money billions of dollars,
- 1:03:54putting their money where their mouth is, are saying that
- 1:03:55Seattle's going to finish last in the division.
- 1:03:58Those odds makers are no joke, no?
- 1:04:01Joke I've done some sports betting with over under and it's
- 1:04:04crazy scary how close they get if you guys can't tell I mean
- 1:04:09they kind of know everything so it's.
- 1:04:11Like they have money riding. On it or something something.
- 1:04:13Yeah, if you guys. Can't tell.
- 1:04:15I can't stand Seattle. I mean, yeah, sure.
- 1:04:18You have to, yeah. Therefore, a little bit it was
- 1:04:20the most fierce. Rivalry in football.
- 1:04:22All right, Well, that's all we have time for on our.
- 1:04:25Episode today. Thank you to Josh for coming on.
- 1:04:28We appreciate having you. And before we end, I just have
- 1:04:30to clarify one thing for anybody who was wondering.
- 1:04:32I'm sure nobody was, but last time we said we were going to.
- 1:04:35When we ended, we said we were going to talk about Trevor
- 1:04:38Lawrence and the Jaguars. We decided against that because
- 1:04:40Trevor Lawrence sucks and the Jaguar sucks and nobody wants to
- 1:04:43talk about them anyway. So we did not talk about them.
- 1:04:46So that's why we did not talk about Trevor Lawrence and the
- 1:04:49Jaguars. We will have to revisit that.
- 1:04:51I actually have a person who came up to.
- 1:04:52Me and said I'm really excited for you guys to talk about
- 1:04:55Trevor Lawrence. I I have a coworker of mine who
- 1:04:59has a Jaguars helmet on his desk and said I'm really excited for
- 1:05:03you guys to talk about Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:05:04OK, I went because he's good. He went no, because he's not
- 1:05:08that needs to be talked about yeah.
- 1:05:10I would also like an opportunity to pile on some.
- 1:05:13Shit. On to Trevor Lawrence as well.
- 1:05:15So all right, well, I'll keep that in.
- 1:05:18Mind, we'll have to talk. About him, we'll have to circle
- 1:05:20back well, since we're on the trend of saying we're going.
- 1:05:23To talk about him next time and then.
- 1:05:24Just not doing it. I'll say we're going to talk
- 1:05:25about Trevor Lawrence next time, so we'll see.
- 1:05:28We'll see. All right.
- 1:05:29Well, that's. All we have time for you on.
- 1:05:30Today's episode again, thanks to Josh for coming on.
- 1:05:33And as always, don't forget to keep your balls played with.
- 1:05:37We'll see you next time. Bye everybody.
- 1:05:39Thanks so much gentlemen. Also, Mark Davis and Sarah Kyle
- 1:05:41still sucks.
