- 0:00Have you ever felt pulled into drama you didn't even wanna be part of?
- 0:05Like one minute, you're minding your own business and the next you are sucked into gossip, politics, or somebody else's chaos.
- 0:14That my friend is what vadim Zealand.
- 0:16In Reality Transurfing calls a pendulum.
- 0:20We are gonna talk about that today.
- 0:23You're listening to Kathie's Coaching podcast.
- 0:25I'm your host, Kathie Owen.
- 0:27So what is a pendulum?
- 0:30No, I'm not talking about the thing that swings inside a clock.
- 0:33A pendulum is an invisible energy structure and it's created when a group of people focus on the same idea, belief or conflict.
- 0:43Think of it like this.
- 0:44Politics?
- 0:46Pendulum.
- 0:47Office gossip?
- 0:48Pendulum.
- 0:50Hustle culture?
- 0:51Pendulum.
- 0:53Even your favorite sports team?
- 0:55Yep.
- 0:56A pendulum.
- 0:58Pendulums are like shadows.
- 0:59They don't have minds, they don't have hearts, and they don't have intentions.
- 1:04They just exist and they live off of one thing.
- 1:09Your energy.
- 1:11And here's the spooky part, you can't actually defeat a pendulum.
- 1:16Zealand says it like this.
- 1:18You can never get the better of a pendulum just as you can never outrun your own shadow.
- 1:25Ouch.
- 1:26That means the moment you fight it, you've already lost.
- 1:30See, pendulums don't care if you are for them or against them.
- 1:34They don't care if you're cheering or booing.
- 1:38The fact that you're reacting at all.
- 1:40That's food, that's energy, and that's how they survive.
- 1:45By the way, did you know that I include a blog post on every episode that includes bonus resources and more?
- 1:55I also have a Transurfing on Tuesday newsletter that you can sign up for in the description and show notes below.
- 2:04I hope to see you there.
- 2:06Back to the episode.
- 2:10So, let me give you an example.
- 2:13Say you work in an office where gossip runs wild.
- 2:16Everyone whispers about who's getting promoted, who messed up, or who's slacking off.
- 2:22You tell yourself you won't get involved, but then a coworker pulls you aside and says, did you hear what happened with Susan?
- 2:30Boom, you are in the game.
- 2:33Even if you say, I don't wanna talk about it, you've still given energy.
- 2:38You leave work drained, anxious, frustrated, and guess who's smiling in the background?
- 2:44The pendulum.
- 2:46So what do you do?
- 2:48Vadim Zealand says, you've got two choices.
- 2:51Abandon the game.
- 2:53Stop feeding the pendulum.
- 2:54Withdraw your energy completely.
- 2:57No reaction, no resistance.
- 3:00Walk away or become the pendulum's favorite.
- 3:04This one's kind of unique.
- 3:06Use its momentum to your advantage.
- 3:09Ride the energy instead of fighting it.
- 3:12That's where the magic happens.
- 3:15Now becoming the favorite doesn't mean you're selling your soul.
- 3:19It means aligning the pendulum's energy with your own goals.
- 3:24Say your company is obsessed with hustle culture.
- 3:27Everyone brags about working 70 hour weeks.
- 3:30You could get sucked into it and burn out, fight against it, and complain.
- 3:37Or you could ride the wave you position yourself as the person who gets incredible results without the burnout.
- 3:44You become the example of smart productivity.
- 3:48You're no longer resisting.
- 3:50You are redirecting, and suddenly the pendulum is working for you, not against you.
- 3:56Here's another example from sports fandom.
- 4:01When a football team wins, the city goes crazy.
- 4:04The pendulum is massive, collective and powerful.
- 4:08When the team loses, the pendulum still gets fed through outrage, blame and anger, but the wise fan.
- 4:15They enjoy the game without letting their emotions get hijacked.
- 4:19They play along without being controlled.
- 4:22That's what it looks like to dance with a pendulum without getting trapped.
- 4:27So how do you handle pendulums in everyday life?
- 4:30I'm so glad you asked.
- 4:32First of all, you notice the hook when you feel triggered or pulled into conflict.
- 4:37Pause and ask, is this a pendulum?
- 4:41Number two, drop importance.
- 4:44The more serious you take it, the more energy you feed it lighten up.
- 4:49Shrug it off.
- 4:51And number three, float.
- 4:53Don't fight.
- 4:54Fighting feels heavy, floating feels light and keeps you in the flow.
- 4:59Step aside and let the pendulum swing right past.
- 5:03Number four, and one of my favorites is use humor.
- 5:09Pendulums do not like humor.
- 5:12Laugh at the situation.
- 5:14And its grip dissolves.
- 5:16And number five, redirect your energy.
- 5:19Focus on your own venture, your work, your health, your creativity.
- 5:24Build something so strong that pendulums fade into the background noise.
- 5:30So here's the truth.
- 5:32Pendulums are not going away.
- 5:34They're shadows.
- 5:35They will always be there.
- 5:37But here's the good news.
- 5:39You don't need to outrun them.
- 5:40You don't need to defeat them.
- 5:42You just need to wake up, step aside and play your own game because the pendulum is just a shadow.
- 5:51But you, you are the source of light.
- 5:54So the next time you fill that pull, whether it's gossip, politics, hustle, culture, or sports teams or anything else, remember, you don't have to feed the pendulum.
- 6:05You can choose differently, and that choice is your freedom.
- 6:12All right, that's my episode for today.
- 6:14I trust that you found it helpful, and if you know someone who can benefit from this, please share it with them.
- 6:20And until next time, I will see you next time.
- 6:23Peace out and Namaste.
