- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast and it Today
- 0:10Speaker 2: is an extra special episode of Frankie Friday because it's
- 0:15Speaker 2: Ashley's birthday. Happy Birthday, Ashley, Happy birthday.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yes, Frankie Friday falls on my birthday. Thank you so
- 0:22Speaker 3: very much.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Let's celebrate you. How are you celebrating?
- 0:26Speaker 4: I one, I think.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I've never had a birthday. I'm not sure hit me
- 0:30Speaker 3: as hard as this one's hitting me.
- 0:31Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I think that thirty eight is like undeniably upper thirties,
- 0:37Speaker 3: and it'll be just a blink of an eye until
- 0:39Speaker 3: I'm forty. And I realize that like all the things
- 0:44Speaker 3: that I can still pass as being like cute, like
- 0:48Speaker 3: me and like my fangirl self, maybe I could pass
- 0:52Speaker 3: that off at forty, but like mid forty, like what
- 0:56Speaker 3: like how am I supposed to I'm supposed to fangirl
- 0:57Speaker 3: at forty or I'm just kind of scared that, like
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm really through adulthood.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I don't know, you didn't feel that way when you
- 1:07Speaker 2: had two kids?
- 1:09Speaker 3: No, Because I realized that I've been able to still
- 1:13Speaker 3: indulge in the things that I love.
- 1:16Speaker 4: You're gonna be able to be child like still with
- 1:19Speaker 4: my children.
- 1:21Speaker 3: And I'm just like, oh my god, I'm going to
- 1:23Speaker 3: be forty before you know it, And like, is that
- 1:28Speaker 3: cute anymore?
- 1:29Speaker 2: I have a friend who is forty and a grandmother.
- 1:34Speaker 3: What that's Emily Maynard Like Emily Maynerd's thirty nine in
- 1:37Speaker 3: a grandma?
- 1:39Speaker 2: See, you could be that. Actually, the truth of this is,
- 1:42Speaker 2: I actually think it gets better with age because you
- 1:45Speaker 2: get more confident in your fangirl than and all the
- 1:49Speaker 2: people your fan girling over are like older than you
- 1:53Speaker 2: or about the same age.
- 1:54Speaker 4: That is what I'm so grateful for.
- 1:56Speaker 3: So I was with Carly and Jade this week and
- 1:58Speaker 3: we were like talking about out who are big fans
- 2:01Speaker 3: of or like who our celebrity crushes are and all that,
- 2:04Speaker 3: and they're like, well, at least everybody is of your
- 2:07Speaker 3: age or older.
- 2:08Speaker 4: It's not like you're just like trying to go.
- 2:11Speaker 2: To a Yeah, if you were like telling me I'm
- 2:14Speaker 2: gonna have to stop going out till two am, I'd
- 2:17Speaker 2: be like, hey, yeah, that's probably smart, Ashley. I don't
- 2:19Speaker 2: know still how you do that at your age, but
- 2:22Speaker 2: your life.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Mine is kind of all age appropriate because like everything
- 2:26Speaker 3: is very millennial oriented.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I'm not like going after gen Z heroes.
- 2:30Speaker 2: No, you're great, You're you're I feel like you should
- 2:34Speaker 2: like fly into this. And here's the cool part is
- 2:37Speaker 2: you're like when you put on clothes, you're fit. Well
- 2:44Speaker 2: you show up to this. Sometimes I like a T shirt.
- 2:45Speaker 4: And yeah, pajamas.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Same here. This was no judgment. I'm saying when you're
- 2:50Speaker 2: when you like your fashion, sins and all those things,
- 2:53Speaker 2: they they will still be rocked at forty. And people
- 2:56Speaker 2: are gonna be like, I like the way she looks
- 2:57Speaker 2: because she's gonna you're gonna keep it a little younger
- 2:59Speaker 2: than you're going to keep it together at forty. And
- 3:03Speaker 2: people are like, I want to look like Ashley when
- 3:05Speaker 2: I'm forty.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I'm not saying that, Like my look is
- 3:08Speaker 3: gonna reflect and still have two more years. And forty
- 3:12Speaker 3: to me is like when I see who's forty these days,
- 3:15Speaker 3: I don't think like, oh my gosh, that person looks old,
- 3:18Speaker 3: like your person feels old. Like I don't even think
- 3:20Speaker 3: forty sounds old really, but for some reason, I think
- 3:23Speaker 3: it's because like I remember my mom's fortieth birthday, like
- 3:29Speaker 3: like I remember exactly what we did, and like, you know,
- 3:32Speaker 3: so when now you're becoming the age that you have
- 3:36Speaker 3: memories of your parents, it's just super duper weird.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with that. I still remember that. That
- 3:42Speaker 2: is I'm not far behind. What do you want for
- 3:45Speaker 2: your birthday?
- 3:46Speaker 3: Well, I had a fantastic birthday. I went to New
- 3:51Speaker 3: York for two days with Jade and Carly and we
- 3:56Speaker 3: had the greatest time all I've ever.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Really wanted to do.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Like when people say, like, why do you love New
- 4:01Speaker 3: York and I'm like, well, really, what I love about
- 4:03Speaker 3: it is just going to dinner and a show. So
- 4:05Speaker 3: we went to the three shows in just a little
- 4:08Speaker 3: over twenty four hours.
- 4:09Speaker 4: That was I've never done that before.
- 4:11Speaker 3: It was amazing, and just being able to spend girls
- 4:16Speaker 3: time with them. We had like a sleepover, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 3: for two nights in a row and seeing those show
- 4:20Speaker 3: It's just truly the best birthday party, a birthday party,
- 4:24Speaker 3: birthday gift that I could give myself. I don't have
- 4:28Speaker 3: anything else on the docket, but that's usually what I
- 4:31Speaker 3: like to have, like some sort of show concert.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Like a little mini trip for my birthday.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And that's perfect and so will you celebrate with the
- 4:39Speaker 2: family then on like this weekend, or are you celebrating
- 4:42Speaker 2: today since it is your birthday?
- 4:44Speaker 3: So today is trivia night at Audrey's, so Jared has
- 4:48Speaker 3: to work. But Jared did say vaguely, it was like, so,
- 4:54Speaker 3: do you have any plans for the weekend? And I'm
- 4:57Speaker 3: like no, So my assumption is that he has a
- 5:00Speaker 3: little something planned. It could truly just be like dinner
- 5:03Speaker 3: and like he got a babysitter, which is also very nice,
- 5:06Speaker 3: but I think that he might have a little something.
- 5:08Speaker 3: But yeah, the actual day, I don't really have super plans.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I bet his Superman costume comes out. Hey, let's dive
- 5:20Speaker 2: into Frankie Friday. Okay, headline, is this why Taylor Frankie
- 5:24Speaker 2: Paul thinks she was gifted the bachelorette role?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Well, she said to E News that she was gifted
- 5:31Speaker 3: this for another chapter of her life. She said that
- 5:35Speaker 3: she's been criticized and judged and rejected, but anyone that
- 5:38Speaker 3: takes the time to know me will see that I'm
- 5:40Speaker 3: actually a genuine person and I mean well, and I'm
- 5:43Speaker 3: a person that deserves another chance at love. So she
- 5:48Speaker 3: says that this is new to her she's the first person.
- 5:51Speaker 4: She actually ricks a good.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Point here, she's actually the first woman to be the
- 5:56Speaker 3: bachelorette but not come from the franchise. We've had that
- 5:59Speaker 3: with bachelor's before, but not bachelorettes. And she says that
- 6:03Speaker 3: she really admires all the women that stood before her,
- 6:06Speaker 3: but what I would like to she says, it's a gift.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And if we go to our if we go to
- 6:12Speaker 3: one of our headlines further down, or her Mormon Wives
- 6:15Speaker 3: castmates are talking about her, they also kind of described
- 6:18Speaker 3: this as a gift to her as well. That actually
- 6:32Speaker 3: leads us into our next headline, where her castmates Macy
- 6:36Speaker 3: and Michaela were talking about her being crowned the bachelorette.
- 6:40Speaker 3: They actually say that they don't think she was in
- 6:43Speaker 3: a good place, like mentally emotionally to be the bachelorette.
- 6:47Speaker 3: But she said that like they said something along the
- 6:51Speaker 3: lines of she didn't like doesn't love herself enough. At
- 6:54Speaker 3: this point, they said that you know, her relationship is
- 6:58Speaker 3: still kind of like freshly broken and that Dakota is
- 7:01Speaker 3: still so like interwoven in her life. But then they
- 7:06Speaker 3: also say that this is like an into little words,
- 7:10Speaker 3: a gift to her because it broke the cycle of
- 7:15Speaker 3: toxicity that she had going on with Dakota, so like
- 7:19Speaker 3: she almost had to like physically remove herself like from
- 7:22Speaker 3: the state and not see him for a certain amount
- 7:25Speaker 3: of time to you know, start fresh.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I really hope he doesn't show up.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I feel like they may not have him show up.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like I thought, yes, Now I think
- 7:37Speaker 3: maybe no, Maybe they know it's not good for her
- 7:39Speaker 3: mental health and they actually don't want to ruin it exactly.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I just don't. I don't think it's healthy for anybody
- 7:46Speaker 2: involved or would make that great a television because it
- 7:49Speaker 2: would just make people mad that he's back there when
- 7:52Speaker 2: she's trying to pursue one of their you know, favorites.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And and actually he did say on a podcast that
- 7:59Speaker 3: was not on it, so hopefully that's true.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Secret Lives of Mormon Wive star reveals why Taylor Frankie
- 8:07Speaker 2: Paul's trauma may block bachelorette love Ashley, I'll say this
- 8:14Speaker 2: from everything that let's just pause here. Can we pause here? Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 2: We've talked about Taylor Frankie Paul a lot now, which
- 8:21Speaker 2: has been great. It's been a great thing. Frankie Fridays
- 8:23Speaker 2: have been fun. We've got to know her better after
- 8:26Speaker 2: the headlines, her captions, her interviews, the things we've spoken about.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Do you think she finds love during this? Like, do
- 8:35Speaker 2: you think she's hinting at that?
- 8:37Speaker 4: Honestly, not really, I don't really think so.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I don't have a great feeling. I think that it
- 8:45Speaker 3: might be one of those seasons that's celebrated because she
- 8:50Speaker 3: takes another great step in life, builds confidence, churity, does
- 8:56Speaker 3: break her away from seeing Dakota as her partner. Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 3: I don't know that she's gonna have like a traditional
- 9:04Speaker 3: happily ever after.
- 9:07Speaker 2: It could be why she's been processing so much.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Yeah, she seems too stressed to be truly.
- 9:15Speaker 4: In butterfly stage of love.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I agree.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Tasha Adams now the judge co hosts I don't know
- 9:22Speaker 2: what they're calling themselves on the HGTV Show reveals the
- 9:26Speaker 2: advice she gave new Bachelorette star Taylor Frankie Paul.
- 9:31Speaker 4: I like this advice that Taysha gave.
- 9:33Speaker 3: She said, I've told her, you can't look at any
- 9:36Speaker 3: of us for advice, really, because it's all your own journey.
- 9:41Speaker 3: She said that I don't want her to copy any
- 9:44Speaker 3: of us in any way, shape or form. Just give
- 9:47Speaker 3: her your all, being the moment, fall in love and
- 9:49Speaker 3: do your thing. And she said, I really I feel
- 9:53Speaker 3: like she's really gonna shake everything up and it's going
- 9:55Speaker 3: to be exactly what the franchise really needed. I kind
- 9:58Speaker 3: of agree with everything Tasha says there.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I agree with Tasha. You got to make it your own. Yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 2: but I do think some advice is warranted when it
- 10:06Speaker 2: comes to like, hey, here's how you can expect things
- 10:09Speaker 2: to operate and don't be shocked when you get pulled
- 10:12Speaker 2: into a room like that kind of stuff is helpful,
- 10:15Speaker 2: But for the most part, we want these people being themselves.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you're very good at giving future bachelor advice.
- 10:21Speaker 4: You love it. You love it.
- 10:22Speaker 3: You should write a little manual, a bachelor manual. Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 3: so you just give each guy a little pamphlet.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Now hasn't happened in years. Probably why the show is,
- 10:35Speaker 2: you know, so downhill exactly. It's all my advice.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah, before we go into the next timeline, I just
- 10:41Speaker 3: want to say I forgot to mention one thing that
- 10:44Speaker 3: Macy and Mikayla did say that I think it is interesting.
- 10:47Speaker 3: The advice that they give her is to seek peace
- 10:51Speaker 3: and not revenge, and that success is the best form
- 10:55Speaker 3: of revenge.
- 10:56Speaker 4: I agree with that.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You don't have to get specific revenge on someone, but
- 11:03Speaker 3: if you are successful, you'll feel very satisfied.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It's biblical, right, Yeah, it is. You don't like necessarily
- 11:11Speaker 2: look for vengeance. You just like crush them with love
- 11:15Speaker 2: and kindness. It's like burning Cole's being dumped over their
- 11:19Speaker 2: head of love because they're just like, I can't get
- 11:22Speaker 2: out of this. This person's too great. I just nothing
- 11:25Speaker 2: else bad to say about them. They're crushing it. I'm
- 11:27Speaker 2: not final. Headline is something that changes season on The
- 11:34Speaker 2: Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
- 11:35Speaker 4: The upcoming season.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the upcoming season. I don't know if you
- 11:39Speaker 2: saw this listeners if you're a fan of the show,
- 11:44Speaker 2: But the headline it reads the Secret Lives of Mormon
- 11:47Speaker 2: Wives stars are now executive producers, So.
- 11:52Speaker 4: We don't know what this means.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Sometimes it's truly just a title, just a credit. Like
- 12:00Speaker 3: our producer Heather would know more as she is in casting.
- 12:05Speaker 3: For some reason, I feel like this is just a
- 12:07Speaker 3: title for these girls because I don't know that Hulu
- 12:12Speaker 3: wants them in the editing room having control of the storylines.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I just don't know, because I think that they're gonna
- 12:19Speaker 3: try to eliminate some dramas right now, Like the Kardashians
- 12:26Speaker 3: are executive producers on their Hulu show, and like they
- 12:31Speaker 3: actually do make decisions sometimes. Kim has talked about how
- 12:35Speaker 3: sometimes Chris and Courtney you'll be like, oh my god,
- 12:38Speaker 3: we cannot put that in there, and Kim is like.
- 12:40Speaker 4: We are absolutely putting that fight in there.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I just don't know that with a show when it's
- 12:46Speaker 3: not a family oriented reality show, that it's going to
- 12:52Speaker 3: work out if you give them editing control. I do
- 12:55Speaker 3: want to mention before we get how they're on for
- 12:57Speaker 3: her two cents that because the show has been such
- 13:01Speaker 3: a success so quickly it got Emmy nomination. It did
- 13:04Speaker 3: lose to Netflix is Love on the Spectrum, But because
- 13:07Speaker 3: it has been such a huge hit, sometimes they'll renegotiate contracts,
- 13:12Speaker 3: give titles like this, give more money before the actual
- 13:19Speaker 3: the contract is up, Like perhaps they signed for five seasons,
- 13:22Speaker 3: but now at four seasons, they're going to give the
- 13:25Speaker 3: girls a little boost just to say thank you, Heather.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Ashley, You're a pro You don't even need me to
- 13:31Speaker 5: jump in on this one because everything you just said
- 13:34Speaker 5: was what I would say, which is, I do think
- 13:36Speaker 5: it's more of a vanity credit than anything else, and
- 13:39Speaker 5: I do think it also correlates with a bump and pay,
- 13:43Speaker 5: and yes, you're not going to let the talent on
- 13:47Speaker 5: a show like this where also their name is not
- 13:50Speaker 5: in the title, right. I think that's a huge defining
- 13:52Speaker 5: difference between Kardashians and Secret Lives is that is actually
- 13:56Speaker 5: their family name in the title. That is their brand.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is a brand that is
- 14:02Speaker 5: owned by Hulu, and they have the ability to change
- 14:07Speaker 5: the talent, and that is also probably something that they
- 14:10Speaker 5: will not have the ability to do as executive producers,
- 14:13Speaker 5: is like fire their castmates. Oh and we're getting a
- 14:17Speaker 5: note here too. If they are EPs, they are award worthy, yes,
- 14:21Speaker 5: so that is another reason so that they can win
- 14:24Speaker 5: some sort of validation if they are nominated again. But
- 14:31Speaker 5: I think we're also seeing this happen in season four
- 14:35Speaker 5: for a reason, and that's because usually between seasons three
- 14:38Speaker 5: and four of hit shows is when you said contracts,
- 14:41Speaker 5: get that renegotiation, and that's where you actually start to
- 14:44Speaker 5: see the real money when being on reality TV.
- 14:48Speaker 3: They're trying to get the girls happy too, like they
- 14:51Speaker 3: want them to stick around for.
- 14:52Speaker 5: One hundred percent. That'll keep you on board if I
- 14:54Speaker 5: say I'm going to also make you an executive producer. Yes,
- 14:58Speaker 5: that is going to get somebody to you resign a contract.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So there's also some speculation that Demi is not a
- 15:06Speaker 3: main cast member this season, that she's more of a
- 15:08Speaker 3: friend of and she is not listed as an EP.
- 15:13Speaker 2: She got the axe.
- 15:14Speaker 5: No, she's appearing on the show. We know that because
- 15:16Speaker 5: she's in the trailer. But yeah, it looks like that
- 15:21Speaker 5: also might have been maybe a carrot being dangled for
- 15:24Speaker 5: the other girls of Hey, you know, how about we
- 15:29Speaker 5: make you guys EPs if you sign on. Since she's
- 15:33Speaker 5: still kind of playing hardball, maybe that was the case
- 15:36Speaker 5: where they were like, we're not going to offer it
- 15:38Speaker 5: to her, but only to you guys. So could be
- 15:42Speaker 5: one of the reasons and something that they used as negotiation.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I love it.
- 15:46Speaker 5: I think it says at the bottom of that article,
- 15:48Speaker 5: exactly how many EPs.
- 15:49Speaker 2: There are of this show?
- 15:50Speaker 5: Now it's a lot and the same thing if you
- 15:53Speaker 5: watch Kardashians, the list of EP credits that roll at
- 15:57Speaker 5: the beginning of the show are very long.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Does it take away from the EP credit?
- 16:04Speaker 5: I think that I think it gives the talent. It's
- 16:09Speaker 5: it helps the talent and the title that they need
- 16:12Speaker 5: so that when they eventually break off and do other
- 16:15Speaker 5: things later on in their career, which they're all bound
- 16:18Speaker 5: to do, it gives them the opportunity to EP their
- 16:22Speaker 5: own shows in the future and put their name behind
- 16:25Speaker 5: something because they've already got this kind of check box already.
- 16:30Speaker 5: I don't think it diminishes the other producers.
- 16:33Speaker 3: No, all right, Heather, Well, thanks for your input there, Ben,
- 16:38Speaker 3: this is a good time.
- 16:40Speaker 4: I'm having a good time with the with the analyzation
- 16:44Speaker 4: of this show.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yaw, it will be merging with The Bachelor at So guys.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Hold up, hold up, hold up, Happy birth to you?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Have they birth they to you?
- 17:00Speaker 6: Happy birthday, Dear Ashley, Happy birthday to you.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 17:12Speaker 4: You have a March birthday too.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's at the end of the month. Let's not
- 17:16Speaker 2: talk about it. Hey, until next time.
