Mang Zhong, Grain in Ear is the 9th solar term and the third one in summer, marking the official start of midsummer. This is a busy season for farmers. Crops that ripen in summer are fully grown and ready to harvest. Meanwhile, it is also the perfect time to sow late rice and other summer grains. Harvesting and sowing happen side by side here.
