- 2:50Speaker 2: try it. What a splash of a guy. Hey, y'all
- 2:54Speaker 2: gotta quick kill this from our promost man.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's Mike fault. Mike Hey, next live show, you gotta
- 2:59Speaker 1: get on camera. Freaking Mike makeson noise for freaking like, man,
- 3:01Speaker 1: the reason all this happens, Man.
- 3:04Speaker 2: My dog.
- 3:04Speaker 1: We always saw off the show with a wonderful question.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I got to ask you know what I'm saying. He
- 3:08Speaker 1: got a little back and forth going on right now.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But how did you feel the first time you heard
- 3:13Speaker 1: your song by Drake?
- 3:16Speaker 5: Uh six man?
- 3:17Speaker 2: Right? Yes, sir?
- 3:18Speaker 5: Yeah, the first time was it was cool? I was.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I was living in Toronto at the time, and h
- 3:24Speaker 4: Drake called me. He was like, Yo, you'll pull up
- 3:26Speaker 4: to the crib. I want to I want to play
- 3:27Speaker 4: you something. So I was like cool. So I was
- 3:29Speaker 4: expecting like a party vibe, like a lot going on.
- 3:32Speaker 4: And I got to his crib. It was just met
- 3:34Speaker 4: him and my homie that was with me, and he's
- 3:37Speaker 4: just sitting there smoking hooker, recording itself. So that album,
- 3:40Speaker 4: if you're reading this, it's already too late. He sat
- 3:43Speaker 4: there and recorded that ship himself.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Oh damn.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Like he had us.
- 3:47Speaker 4: He had his own like mobile studio setup, smoking hooker,
- 3:51Speaker 4: recording itself. So he was just like, man, I want to,
- 3:53Speaker 4: I want to play you the album. So he didn't
- 3:54Speaker 4: play it right away from me. He was just going
- 3:57Speaker 4: through the album. I was like, yeah, that's hard. That's hard.
- 3:59Speaker 4: And so when it came came on, I heard it
- 4:00Speaker 4: and I looked at him and he was like yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 4: but then he was like like, that's that's cool. Like
- 4:07Speaker 4: can I that's cool?
- 4:08Speaker 5: What I said? I said, Man, run that ship. What
- 4:11Speaker 5: you mean you mean? This is Drake, you know what
- 4:13Speaker 5: I'm saying.
- 4:14Speaker 4: And at that time, it was at the height of
- 4:16Speaker 4: his career. I mean, Drake been in the height of
- 4:17Speaker 4: his career for you know, going on fifteen years now,
- 4:20Speaker 4: and that was a big year for me. So to
- 4:22Speaker 4: half the soundtrack, to win in my first six man,
- 4:25Speaker 4: to being in Toronto, having that whole thing.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Go my way that year, that was cool.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Nah, man, that's fine. It's hard. It don't get no
- 4:32Speaker 2: better than that.
- 4:33Speaker 1: But he end up battle right now, and you got
- 4:35Speaker 1: to you gotta pick a side.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You're from Atlanta, dog, You're gonna do a little bit.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You gotta take a side. Man, it's the future of Drake. Man,
- 4:43Speaker 1: go pick man. You gotta pick a side.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Bro. Nah, listen, you know brother, oh, brother's beef all
- 4:51Speaker 4: the time.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 4:52Speaker 5: The brothers be for all the time.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Obviously they got a relationship, but more than anything before.
- 4:57Speaker 4: I pick a side I enjoyed. This is the type
- 4:59Speaker 4: of rap I enjoy I like when it's competitive. I
- 5:02Speaker 4: don't like all the buddy buddy ship, all the teaming up.
- 5:05Speaker 4: It's this is a sport. This is competition. Rap started
- 5:08Speaker 4: with battles and I'm better than you, You better than me.
- 5:11Speaker 4: I picked better beats my my. Whatever I'm talking about
- 5:14Speaker 4: is my subject matter is better than your subject matter.
- 5:17Speaker 4: So when it get to this point, especially with the
- 5:19Speaker 4: giants in the in the game, with the Kendricks, the Colds,
- 5:22Speaker 4: Sir Drakes, and everybody is at the top of the list.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Even you can throw you in there because they all
- 5:26Speaker 4: throwing shots at each other. I like it when it's competitive.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I like it when they get a little when they
- 5:30Speaker 4: get a little nasty outside and everybody gotta gotta bring
- 5:33Speaker 4: their guns out.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I like that.
- 5:34Speaker 7: So LOUI Lou basically saying this ship ain't about nothing.
- 5:37Speaker 7: They'll figure it.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Out, Like this is the first beef. I felt like,
- 5:40Speaker 4: ain't nobody gonna get hurt?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's safe for sure. Y'all did your job? Boy?
- 5:45Speaker 2: He good? Yeah, you got you cold cold.
- 5:51Speaker 5: I got that media training.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't got that.
- 5:56Speaker 7: You already know who rolling with, No, Bro, I wanted
- 6:03Speaker 7: to take it back to high school, Bro, the Georgia
- 6:06Speaker 7: Stars days. Bro, can you you got any memorable moments
- 6:09Speaker 7: from back then the a U circuit because he was
- 6:11Speaker 7: one of the ones. You'd be one of our teams
- 6:13Speaker 7: on our letton team.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah, let's talk, let's go.
- 6:18Speaker 2: That's why, that's why, that's why I'm here. Yeah, Georgia
- 6:21Speaker 2: Star Team. Shout out to Mike Mercer.
- 6:24Speaker 5: We have we have some we have some talent on there. Uh.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Underrated player that was on that team, Jerry Cook, who
- 6:31Speaker 4: was like there was a tight end in the NFL
- 6:33Speaker 4: for them in fifteen years. Jerry Cook was my big
- 6:36Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, a lot of people didn't
- 6:38Speaker 4: know that. And then I guess basketball didn't work for him.
- 6:41Speaker 4: He just tried out on a whim in South Carolina
- 6:43Speaker 4: and it worked out. That's hard and then went on
- 6:46Speaker 4: to be you know what I'm saying, went on to
- 6:47Speaker 4: be a tight end. But we had me Mike cat
- 6:50Speaker 4: named Billy Humphrey was on that team. Billy Billy made
- 6:53Speaker 4: some noise in the college ranks.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Uhia Georgia Juice was with us.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Shout out the Jukes at l No Mosquito, Little D
- 7:04Speaker 4: everybody in basketball. Uh, Little D is a basketball legend
- 7:08Speaker 4: in the city. He was on our team. But we
- 7:10Speaker 4: just had the perfect group.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Man. We went out.
- 7:12Speaker 5: I scored all the points.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Everybody else play. Yeah you know what I'm saying. Who
- 7:21Speaker 3: was Eric Snow? You ain't doing Mike like that?
- 7:24Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 7:24Speaker 4: We had a cat named Greg Lockett. He didn't care
- 7:27Speaker 4: if he shot the ball one time. He was gonna
- 7:29Speaker 4: guard the best player that that was to him.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Man, they tried to do that to me in Milwaukee.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I was nothing.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I was doing. Okay, So that Georgia
- 7:42Speaker 7: Circle was crazy back then. You beat arguably the greatest
- 7:46Speaker 7: AU team ever in.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Our eyes, Yes, sir, speak Heat. That's that's in our
- 7:51Speaker 2: dubbed them to you beat the ass.
- 7:54Speaker 7: They beat the heat. I remember that ship, but we
- 7:58Speaker 7: dubbed them what you'll playing. I don't rememberhe y'all played
- 8:00Speaker 7: the play.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Them in Indiana.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Yeah, we played them in their backyard. That's probably how
- 8:05Speaker 4: we caught them slipping. They probably too comfortable. Yeah yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 4: they probably was too comfortable and we caught them slipping.
- 8:10Speaker 2: But we beat the Okay, I just wanted to tap in.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I see y'all talking about it. I had to
- 8:16Speaker 5: leave my comment.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Look at her, we know you went out of high school.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I had to let y'all know respect.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And that's another other effect about you obviously going straight
- 8:28Speaker 1: to the league from high school.
- 8:30Speaker 2: That decision making process. How was that for you? Because
- 8:32Speaker 2: I'm he said each money.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 5: I never was a fan of college basketball.
- 8:39Speaker 4: The idea of waking up at five in the morning,
- 8:42Speaker 4: broke hungry and going to class just never registered to me.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Bro It just never got through to me. So if
- 8:50Speaker 4: I was gonna get drafted anywhere, this Hennessy isn't too
- 8:53Speaker 4: let me back.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you see, we got the I don't know
- 8:57Speaker 1: what this is, the honeycomb, but yeah, it.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Just got It just got to a point I didn't
- 9:03Speaker 4: really care where I was gonna get drafted that I knew.
- 9:06Speaker 5: I wanted to.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I wanted to put my name in the in the
- 9:08Speaker 4: on the draft board because I started living a different life.
- 9:11Speaker 4: I started experiencing things my senior, my junior and my
- 9:14Speaker 4: senior year. I started experiencing something that was different than
- 9:17Speaker 4: my classmates was. And I was just like, college probably
- 9:20Speaker 4: not gonna be the next next step for me.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I could have seen you playing at ote.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I probably would have been one of them. I
- 9:27Speaker 4: probably would have been one of them kids. But you know,
- 9:30Speaker 4: that's a dope platform for them to have and and
- 9:32Speaker 4: go out in and be realistic with kids. Man, don't
- 9:35Speaker 4: waste no, don't waste them kids time, especially you know,
- 9:37Speaker 4: you know I listen.
- 9:39Speaker 5: I just left to a you take look, I still
- 9:41Speaker 5: got my still.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Got my band on.
- 9:42Speaker 5: I was coaching this morning with my girls.
- 9:44Speaker 4: You know who going to college for college and who
- 9:46Speaker 4: just who going because they got to you know what
- 9:49Speaker 4: I'm saying. So for these kids to have that platform,
- 9:51Speaker 4: that's that's dope for them for sure.
- 9:53Speaker 1: When you say your junior and senior year, you experiencing
- 9:56Speaker 1: different things like what was you doing saying that now
- 10:00Speaker 1: on crib I did see him on cribs with the
- 10:02Speaker 1: big as Jersey you're selling out Georgia.
- 10:05Speaker 5: But that day I was my Jerseys hard as Mouffy
- 10:09Speaker 5: I was. I was.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I know he gets paid.
- 10:13Speaker 5: No, I just I just started.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I just started meeting people like I met Lebron on
- 10:17Speaker 4: a Tuesday. Bron introduced me to Jay Z on a Thursday.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Lord and then I went to class the next day.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I'm looking around like you no way, I'm like y'all.
- 10:26Speaker 1: They didn't introduce you to Diddy though, right, I know.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Just making sure we're getting that cleared up. Allegate the
- 10:37Speaker 1: damn food today. Listen, I'm letter know what's going on.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Never been to it, never never been to a did
- 10:45Speaker 1: all No brother good though for worse, I've never been to.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You will be bro't to get your whole party.
- 10:49Speaker 1: You gotta ask me that question, though, Yeah, don't don't
- 10:53Speaker 1: start that you started.
- 10:55Speaker 2: He about to start something.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Broy leave before the devil he tried to down he
- 11:01Speaker 7: caught over.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Nah, for sure.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, you played in a lot of different cities.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You know how you feel about the Ada's hometown outside
- 11:12Speaker 1: of here? Where was your favorite seed that you played in?
- 11:15Speaker 4: Played in m h Man Toronto was an amazing year.
- 11:19Speaker 4: I think that's why they didn't resign me. I think
- 11:21Speaker 4: they knew I liked it too much. NA think about it.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I won my first six Man of the Year and
- 11:26Speaker 4: they did not offer me a contract to come back.
- 11:28Speaker 5: They was like, you got to go.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Wait, I thought you had kind of you know, I'm
- 11:32Speaker 2: saying it kind of felt.
- 11:33Speaker 4: No, No, they kicked me out. Damn, they absolutely kicked
- 11:37Speaker 4: me out. I think I was I was lifestyle ship.
- 11:41Speaker 4: You know, I had a lot going on in the
- 11:42Speaker 4: family room at that time of my life. In perspect
- 11:45Speaker 4: the wives probably was like, Yo, they gotta get buddy
- 11:48Speaker 4: out of here, like, you know, he might be influencing
- 11:51Speaker 4: our husband's the wrong way. And so, uh yeah, they
- 11:54Speaker 4: ain't offered me a contract to come back.
- 11:56Speaker 5: They was like, appreciate everything. It's probably not gonna be
- 11:59Speaker 5: a fit for us.
- 12:00Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And it had nothing to do with basketball, nah, because
- 12:02Speaker 1: you was killing that year and I heard you tell
- 12:05Speaker 1: a story. I mean, we're gonna get back to when
- 12:07Speaker 1: you first came into the league, but I heard you
- 12:08Speaker 1: tell a story about Toronto. How tomorrow now kept you
- 12:11Speaker 1: you feel like you was about to retire and then
- 12:13Speaker 1: to go out and be a six minute of the year.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 4: My so I toret my a CL. We was teammates,
- 12:19Speaker 4: teammates then, so I told my ACL. It took me
- 12:22Speaker 4: about two years to kind of get my feedback onto me.
- 12:26Speaker 4: But when I came back, I was slow, And before
- 12:28Speaker 4: I told my a CL, I was explosive, like I
- 12:29Speaker 4: could finish at the rim, I dunk you. You know
- 12:32Speaker 4: what I'm saying, Like I had speed, and then when
- 12:34Speaker 4: I came back, I had to change my whole game.
- 12:36Speaker 4: And Mike Butdenholzer he told me, like he put me
- 12:40Speaker 4: in the office, like, Yo, we're gonna find a trade partner.
- 12:41Speaker 4: We don't think that's gonna work here. You know, you'll
- 12:44Speaker 4: never be the same player that you was. We don't
- 12:46Speaker 4: think you'll ever be the same player again.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And damn I fucked with coach, but he told me
- 12:54Speaker 1: to my face.
- 12:54Speaker 4: I respected it. But the next year I win my
- 12:57Speaker 4: first six man he called me. He was like, I
- 12:59Speaker 4: was wrong as fuck.
- 13:00Speaker 5: That's my bad. You know what I'm saying.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah, he was wrong.
- 13:02Speaker 4: So once when I got to Toronto, I had that
- 13:04Speaker 4: in the back of my mind, like, you know, this
- 13:06Speaker 4: might be the end of the road, you know for me,
- 13:08Speaker 4: that was, uh, what was the year?
- 13:10Speaker 5: I think that was my eleventh to twelfth year in.
- 13:12Speaker 4: The league, So you know, I had a full, full
- 13:15Speaker 4: career at that point. I felt really good about the
- 13:17Speaker 4: things I was able to accomplish, and so I thought
- 13:20Speaker 4: Toronto was gonna be my last year. So I told him, like, Yo,
- 13:23Speaker 4: this is gonna be my last year. I'm gonna play
- 13:25Speaker 4: it out and then it's whatever. And Kyle Larry, Damar DeRozan,
- 13:30Speaker 4: Amir Johnson, Chuck Hayes, they was my four teammates, and
- 13:33Speaker 4: they was like, brouh if you're gonna if this is
- 13:35Speaker 4: gonna be your last year, man, you're finna go out swinging.
- 13:38Speaker 4: We're just gonna feed you the ball and just have
- 13:40Speaker 4: fun and just do your thing. And that's that's what
- 13:43Speaker 4: they did. They supported me, wrap their arms around me.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I think Toronto being out of the country saved my
- 13:49Speaker 4: career because it kept me away from a lot of distractions.
- 13:52Speaker 4: It made me just focus on basketball until I got
- 13:55Speaker 4: to a point where I could start focusing on some
- 13:57Speaker 4: other things.
- 14:00Speaker 5: But it just it just locked me back in.
- 14:01Speaker 4: And that was one of the best years I had
- 14:03Speaker 4: and it rejuvenated everything. And the five years that I
- 14:06Speaker 4: had after there was the best years of my career.
- 14:09Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I didn't get people to put their arms around me
- 14:12Speaker 1: when I was going down.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Hey, Yo, that's nuts.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Why are you thirsty for that?
- 14:18Speaker 2: That's crazy. I gotta thirsty for her.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I mean, listen, man, I was, I was having a
- 14:26Speaker 1: bad time. They just kicked me go on a head
- 14:29Speaker 1: and leave.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Bro.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That's why I make jokes about them now. But anyway,
- 14:34Speaker 1: we ain't ever get Bucks tickets.
- 14:35Speaker 2: They ain't give it to me. I don't care.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Somebody asked me about that earlier in the crowd, like,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you ever get them season tickets for the Bucks? Nah,
- 14:42Speaker 1: they ain't coming in the mill.
- 14:43Speaker 5: No, they ain't rocking with you.
- 14:45Speaker 1: No.
- 14:45Speaker 5: I ain't been to a Hawks game this year. They
- 14:47Speaker 5: charged me for tickets.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Oh the Hawks charge you.
- 14:50Speaker 1: They sound kind of crazy, you know, they charged us.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I don't take a personal no more to hear the
- 14:56Speaker 1: scene appreciate because I had to pay for Yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 4: I'm I'm on strike right now.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Man.
- 15:04Speaker 4: They asked me to do all this other ship for him.
- 15:06Speaker 4: But but they asked me to pay for tickets when
- 15:08Speaker 4: I come to game. So I watched on TV.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Boosy corseide I little will we gotta talk about it.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That's out of pocket.
- 15:14Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 15:14Speaker 4: That's the only team that I've played for that don't
- 15:16Speaker 4: accommodate me. Yeah, it's unfortunate, but.
- 15:22Speaker 2: They're gonna get it done.
- 15:23Speaker 5: This is business.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Is all good, for sure, But how was it coming
- 15:26Speaker 1: into the league as a teenager and you get to
- 15:28Speaker 1: play with Alan iverson.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Mind blowing because if anybody know my game, I pattered
- 15:34Speaker 4: my game, I pattered my staff. After that, after Ai
- 15:38Speaker 4: so coming in, I was terrified of the dude, Like
- 15:42Speaker 4: I was scared that what he was gonna say, how
- 15:45Speaker 4: he was gonna treat me or whatever, because a lot
- 15:46Speaker 4: of times you don't want to meet the person that
- 15:48Speaker 4: you look up to because they probably gonna let you
- 15:50Speaker 4: down with how they are. So I was like, damn, man,
- 15:52Speaker 4: I've been looking up to this dude my whole life.
- 15:54Speaker 4: I would hate for him to be the person that
- 15:56Speaker 4: I end up not fucking with on his team.
- 15:58Speaker 2: When Jeff.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I met him, what was the.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Allegation?
- 16:09Speaker 1: This is all that was right on top. Listen, My
- 16:13Speaker 1: idol was Michael Jordan.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Man.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I don't know what he's talking about now, but.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Homie embraced me man, and I remember the first thing
- 16:25Speaker 4: he said to me. I was at a celebrity basketball game.
- 16:29Speaker 4: He walked in and we made eye contact and he
- 16:31Speaker 4: beatline towards me, and my heart started being fast. I'm like,
- 16:33Speaker 4: oh ship, Like he got a big entourage with him,
- 16:37Speaker 4: and Ai walks.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Up to me.
- 16:38Speaker 5: He said, you the little motherfucker. They drafted to replace me. Huh.
- 16:42Speaker 4: That was the first thing Ai said to me, but
- 16:45Speaker 4: he said it while he was bare hugging me though.
- 16:48Speaker 4: He was like, welcome, bro, anything you need, I got you.
- 16:50Speaker 4: And that that started my experience in Philadelphia. Like once
- 16:54Speaker 4: he once he embraced me, That whole city embraced me
- 16:57Speaker 4: after that, and it made my transition from you know,
- 17:00Speaker 4: being a seventeen year old kid to giving me all
- 17:02Speaker 4: the confidence that I can compete with these grown men.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I know that Perdemn was bro. Noah, I reacted.
- 17:09Speaker 5: I had. I had a good because I was.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I was his rook So that's what I'm saying.
- 17:12Speaker 5: I know, yeah he was.
- 17:15Speaker 4: He was introducing me to some money that I had
- 17:17Speaker 4: never seen before.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Pocket money.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Sure, Dan, didn't anybody ever show look.
- 17:22Speaker 1: To you my rookie year. I had Joe Josh Yeah, yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: I had Mike. Yeah, I had all types of money.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Hey man. Speaking of celebrity game.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Hold on, I want to ask you something about Mike
- 17:34Speaker 4: Bibby because Mike Vibe was on our show last week
- 17:36Speaker 4: for uh and I do on on the fan duel.
- 17:41Speaker 5: He was he always like was a lifter like that.
- 17:44Speaker 2: He's so like that.
- 17:45Speaker 1: He was stronger. He on steroids now alleg Mike, you
- 17:51Speaker 1: don't do that, bro. He liked the Ultimate Warrior.
- 17:54Speaker 2: He was got to benitching Charleston. Listen like, nah, bib
- 18:00Speaker 2: your body slam nigga, right, but he was strong like
- 18:03Speaker 2: that when he was in the league.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He probably had to be like two twenty five, was
- 18:06Speaker 1: in the league, was big, but right now he fifty.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Bro not right, Bro. I love him to death, Bro,
- 18:12Speaker 1: but you're too strong.
- 18:14Speaker 5: They ain't got to shoot the basketball no more.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Nah, I don't think he can pick there. He might
- 18:18Speaker 1: smash the ball fair one. I don't want no seen.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Him be that polo.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I said, yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, Bro, when you were
- 18:26Speaker 1: a three X and it looked like a medium.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Great, he gonna kick you.
- 18:30Speaker 2: He's gonna kill He's gonna call me right after this.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Hey, But speaking of celebrity game footage, is Recurfer do
- 18:38Speaker 1: you playing his celebrity game?
- 18:39Speaker 9: Man?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Was my nigga went crazy? I was giving buckets.
- 18:44Speaker 1: They only showed my how like getting crossed by ey.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's all good, but that was a time boy Lou
- 18:50Speaker 1: invited me to the game. Lou always been cool. When
- 18:52Speaker 1: I first moved to Atlanta, and played.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I went to.
- 18:55Speaker 1: A pro am game and Low and Jerry Jack was
- 18:58Speaker 1: having a battle.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Man.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Jack always had this thing, bro, I don't know what
- 19:03Speaker 1: I had going over with Lou.
- 19:04Speaker 5: We always had this.
- 19:05Speaker 4: We always said this thing because I was the best
- 19:07Speaker 4: high school player and Jack was the best player at
- 19:09Speaker 4: Georgia Tech. So we was bubbling at the same time.
- 19:11Speaker 4: But I was in high school, he was in college.
- 19:14Speaker 4: So every time we ran into each other, it was
- 19:16Speaker 4: all out.
- 19:18Speaker 1: He ain't telling y'all the story, Lou hoo with all
- 19:22Speaker 1: his homeboys. It's just Lou and his homeboys. It ain't
- 19:26Speaker 1: no other NBA players real Georgia st Yeah, they got
- 19:29Speaker 1: six two people, five ten. I'm like, they're about to
- 19:32Speaker 1: get killed. Jared Jack got NBA players all this, Lou
- 19:37Speaker 1: got like fifty five, right, So I'm looking, I'm fast
- 19:41Speaker 1: ball till I shot. Yeah, I'm like fast I shoot.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I'm like, he's different, like you know what I mean.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So we get to him and Jered Jack already the
- 19:47Speaker 1: whole game. He killing him, and Jerk got all his
- 19:49Speaker 1: NBA player I'm crying laughing.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So we played in the regular season.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I'm a rookie and I remember this, and they like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: get in you got lou Man.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I was terrified. I was like, he looked at me.
- 19:59Speaker 2: It was like, what's up?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Well, I said, I he was about to try to
- 20:02Speaker 1: kill me. Oh he ain't true though he kept it
- 20:04Speaker 1: cool with me. I was like, I only had two minutes.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It was cool, bro. I appreciate that. Bro real, I
- 20:10Speaker 1: was nervous.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But how was that when when y'all probably became teammates.
- 20:15Speaker 1: All a dream come true? Because I had a whip.
- 20:19Speaker 1: You gotta think I heard about lou Willville. So the
- 20:23Speaker 1: reason five twenty ever started because of lou will I
- 20:25Speaker 1: want to give your flowers, bro.
- 20:27Speaker 5: He said it on camera.
- 20:28Speaker 2: No, in fact, so we're gonna clip that up.
- 20:31Speaker 1: So look, lou will But I went to he has
- 20:34Speaker 1: a Halloween party for his birthday. And I pull up
- 20:38Speaker 1: and I see his crib. I'm like, damn, I gotta
- 20:42Speaker 1: recreate this ship like he having too much fun. So
- 20:45Speaker 1: I go home. I bought me a crib, and this
- 20:47Speaker 1: is how five twenty comes.
- 20:48Speaker 2: So we all have a lou Willsville.
- 20:51Speaker 1: At my crib, but we call it five to twenty.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And that's how our podcast started. Because I went to
- 20:55Speaker 1: this party ahead of time.
- 20:56Speaker 5: You start having kids.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Shit, Nope, yeah, they gonna get rid of all that
- 20:59Speaker 4: ship my kids. Yeah, my kids restructured my whole situation. Yeah,
- 21:05Speaker 4: ain't no, ain't no club, ain't no party.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Damn, you ain't had one sense. You ain't got the backroom?
- 21:10Speaker 2: Do we do?
- 21:11Speaker 5: It's just hard.
- 21:12Speaker 2: You got the backroom. It's a little difficult. Now you
- 21:14Speaker 2: still got the backroom.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Nah, the back room was a league.
- 21:19Speaker 4: See, my kids, they done got to the age they
- 21:21Speaker 4: know who I am. Now they googling their YouTube. And
- 21:24Speaker 4: now I got a teenager. I don't know where the
- 21:26Speaker 4: time went, but I got a teenage daughter now. So yeah,
- 21:29Speaker 4: I'm dealing with some different type of pressure.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Now she hooping too.
- 21:32Speaker 5: Yeah, she do a thing. She went crazy this morning.
- 21:37Speaker 2: How is that?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Like obviously becoming the father and now your kid like
- 21:39Speaker 1: loves what you love, like to share that passion.
- 21:42Speaker 2: How is that?
- 21:42Speaker 5: It's crazy? It's it's surreal. But it's because our culture.
- 21:47Speaker 4: I have to find like middle ground from being her
- 21:49Speaker 4: dad and a coach, you know what I'm saying. And
- 21:53Speaker 4: like one time she said something to me and I
- 21:55Speaker 4: told her to come here. She said, I got it.
- 21:56Speaker 4: I said no, no, no, I'm talking to you.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Your dad.
- 21:58Speaker 4: You ain't gonna talk back to me, you know what
- 22:00Speaker 4: I'm saying. But we have to have that balance of
- 22:03Speaker 4: you know, all of us when we get to it.
- 22:05Speaker 4: When we get thirteen, fourteen years old, themn the years
- 22:07Speaker 4: were trying to get away from our parents, you know.
- 22:09Speaker 4: So I try not to be overbearing, be out of
- 22:12Speaker 4: her way and just culture and allow to just allow
- 22:15Speaker 4: her the opportunity to build with her teammates. But basketball
- 22:19Speaker 4: has made our relationship stronger as a father, as a
- 22:22Speaker 4: and as a parent because she's getting to know me
- 22:24Speaker 4: on a different level of you know, just being a parent.
- 22:27Speaker 4: You know, in the season, man, you you really your
- 22:30Speaker 4: weekend dad for real, because you're always on the road.
- 22:33Speaker 4: You're always moving around. When you come in the house,
- 22:35Speaker 4: you're trying to put your foot down. You're trying to
- 22:37Speaker 4: be this this person that like I run my house.
- 22:40Speaker 4: But the reality is you always outside of the crib.
- 22:44Speaker 4: And so for me to be retired going on two years,
- 22:47Speaker 4: being able to spend so much time with my kids,
- 22:49Speaker 4: our relationships have gotten so much stronger than I can
- 22:52Speaker 4: appreciate where it is because this is where I always
- 22:55Speaker 4: wanted to be as a parent, Like having a super
- 22:57Speaker 4: special bond with my kids. And so my daughters got
- 23:00Speaker 4: into the hooping being able to guide her through that
- 23:03Speaker 4: and then now my baby girl just start hooping. I
- 23:05Speaker 4: think she started hooping on the strength of her big sister.
- 23:08Speaker 4: So yeah, how.
- 23:15Speaker 2: You feel about like, you know, you a hooper.
- 23:18Speaker 1: So being a part of girls basketball, it's a totally
- 23:20Speaker 1: different game than the boys.
- 23:21Speaker 4: It's completely different, especially coaching it. Bro you gotta be
- 23:25Speaker 4: you gotta coach girls completely different than you coach boys.
- 23:27Speaker 5: See, boys, you can have a.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Six six sixty seven boy that don't know how to
- 23:31Speaker 4: tie tied shoes, shoe bowlgum at the same time, and
- 23:33Speaker 4: you could throw them on the floor. Women don't have
- 23:36Speaker 4: the athletic ability that boys do. So you literally got
- 23:39Speaker 4: to slow down and teach them the fundamentals. And that's
- 23:41Speaker 4: why you get a much much pure game of basketball
- 23:44Speaker 4: on the women's side, because you teach them more boys,
- 23:47Speaker 4: you cut a lot of corners, you know what I'm saying,
- 23:49Speaker 4: You will cut a lot of the fundamentals out of
- 23:52Speaker 4: out of teaching them because of the athletic ability.
- 23:54Speaker 5: With girls, you teach them, and you teach them, and
- 23:56Speaker 5: you teach them and.
- 23:57Speaker 4: That's the that's you get the best, the best brand
- 23:59Speaker 4: of basketball you can. So it's been fun. You got
- 24:02Speaker 4: to be more patient with girls because the attitude is different.
- 24:07Speaker 4: The attitudes is different with the girls. Man, But I
- 24:10Speaker 4: enjoy it though.
- 24:11Speaker 2: She hooped like you or what's your game? Now?
- 24:13Speaker 5: My daughter a big she a four or five?
- 24:15Speaker 4: She like, I don't know how how she got to
- 24:17Speaker 4: be a four or five?
- 24:18Speaker 5: She played with us, Yeah, she played with us back
- 24:19Speaker 5: to the basket. But she got it though, she got it.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Now obviously you know in team. How was it when
- 24:26Speaker 1: you heard the news and he was like a high
- 24:28Speaker 1: school coach? That's surprised you at all?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, because team didn't talk a lot. Nope, No, first
- 24:36Speaker 5: of all, all this ship is a surprise to me.
- 24:38Speaker 4: The podcast, the coaching, I'm like, when's you nigga start
- 24:41Speaker 4: talking so much?
- 24:43Speaker 2: They talked in the club.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Yeah, we were teammates.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Bron team could come in and do.
- 24:48Speaker 4: His job and get out of there. Like every once
- 24:51Speaker 4: in a while, he showed his personality. Other than that,
- 24:53Speaker 4: team kept to itself. You know what I'm saying, how
- 24:55Speaker 4: is coaching high school basketball?
- 24:58Speaker 2: It's fun, Like you said, it's challenging.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Like you said, we can cut corners with athletes, but
- 25:03Speaker 1: at my school we gotta teach a lot more so
- 25:05Speaker 1: I'm in the same situation as you.
- 25:06Speaker 2: But it's cool, man.
- 25:07Speaker 1: It's fun to have an opportunity to like teach the
- 25:09Speaker 1: game that I like you.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Did you think you'd be coaching? Nah?
- 25:13Speaker 1: I ain't think I was gonna be coaching. If I did,
- 25:15Speaker 1: I thought it was gonna be like an NBA or something.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I ain't think high school.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I thought. I was like, Yeah, soon
- 25:20Speaker 5: as I retire.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Yeah, were Atlanta.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Yeah, we is on the west side. But I just
- 25:28Speaker 5: remember what the fun was I talking about. I don't
- 25:31Speaker 5: know I told you.
- 25:34Speaker 2: About. You don't want to see jumped on my back.
- 25:39Speaker 2: That's crazy. I gotta relax. I got I gotta relax.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I gotta got bro. The allegations crazy about put it down.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Luo ain't been over here.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Your here know, we don't care we say anything, but
- 26:00Speaker 1: he got chilled on this.
- 26:02Speaker 2: We at home. It's family, bro, I live here. Bro.
- 26:04Speaker 7: I do got a question though, for you little do
- 26:06Speaker 7: you think you know you're coaching au which is hard?
- 26:08Speaker 7: Do you think you can keep coaching girls or what
- 26:10Speaker 7: you want to move to boys eventually if you want to,
- 26:12Speaker 7: you know, stay in the coaching Liane.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Uh shit, good question.
- 26:18Speaker 4: I'll be honest, man, I don't built so many bonds
- 26:20Speaker 4: with these little girls.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Bro.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Like, I'm one hundred percent invested in these kids. You know,
- 26:26Speaker 4: you get to know them, you get to know their parents,
- 26:28Speaker 4: and you get connected to them, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:30Speaker 4: So not only do we have our team we built
- 26:33Speaker 4: out because of that. You know, I got a fifth
- 26:35Speaker 4: grade team, now, we got a seventh grade team. I
- 26:37Speaker 4: coach eighth grade, and we also got a ninth grade team.
- 26:40Speaker 4: So when you when you're there every day and you
- 26:41Speaker 4: invest in these kids, like I fly home every weekend
- 26:44Speaker 4: from LA to literally coach these kids, you know what
- 26:47Speaker 4: I'm saying. And so I don't see I ain't really
- 26:50Speaker 4: looking in the future. I don't see me coaching boys
- 26:52Speaker 4: or men in the NBA. I'm connected with lot girls now. Yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 4: I'm locked in with the girls now.
- 26:57Speaker 2: All right?
- 26:57Speaker 1: For sure, Obviously we know you Atl you was here
- 27:00Speaker 1: when they was really going crazy. I know you probably
- 27:02Speaker 1: watched it being meth serious, But how was it being
- 27:04Speaker 1: in the city being a little well during that time, period.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I was a kid. I was a kid. A lot
- 27:10Speaker 4: of a lot of crazy shit that I saw. I
- 27:12Speaker 4: thought it was normal. Like I've been to a I've
- 27:14Speaker 4: been to a club Club one twelve for all the
- 27:17Speaker 4: OG's and all the older I ain't. Yeah, so some
- 27:24Speaker 4: of y'all remember Club one twelve. I remember going to
- 27:26Speaker 4: a BMF party and they had trash cans of champagne.
- 27:32Speaker 5: But I thought that. I thought that was a normal thing.
- 27:34Speaker 4: That I'm seventeen years old in the club, so I'm
- 27:37Speaker 4: everybody literally imagine everybody in here got a bottle of champagne.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Now you could just go grab one whatever you want.
- 27:44Speaker 4: I thought that was the norm. So seeing that and
- 27:48Speaker 4: knowing that that shit is far from normal, BMM set
- 27:52Speaker 4: a different type of standard in the city.
- 27:53Speaker 5: They set a different type of standard.
- 27:55Speaker 4: So I didn't realize what I was experiencing until I
- 27:58Speaker 4: got educated on it.
- 27:59Speaker 5: But I seen it with my own two eyes.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there was no way you would have went
- 28:02Speaker 1: to college after seeing that, That's what I'm.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Trying to tell you.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I was like, it's no way I'm going to school
- 28:07Speaker 4: and getting up at five in the morning.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Let somebody yell at me off fucking day.
- 28:11Speaker 1: I wish I would have seen that for real, Bro,
- 28:14Speaker 1: it wouldn't be no twenty pockets. Yeah, it would be
- 28:17Speaker 1: way different.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I've been a pack man another motherfucking.
- 28:29Speaker 4: What about.
- 28:32Speaker 1: But obviously, man, you still watch the game still floors.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Who would you say young players right now that you
- 28:37Speaker 1: say kind of modern like your game, like you can
- 28:39Speaker 1: see yourself in.
- 28:42Speaker 4: It ain't a lot of them. Malik Malik Monk is
- 28:47Speaker 4: close to it. Yeah, Malik Malik Monk. I got I
- 28:50Speaker 4: got Malik Monks my six Man of the Year. If
- 28:53Speaker 4: not him, I like nas reed in Minnesota for six
- 28:55Speaker 4: Man of the Year this year. But Malik, you could
- 28:58Speaker 4: tell he's one of them guys that pick up from
- 29:00Speaker 4: a lot of guys. I can see some remnists of
- 29:02Speaker 4: how playing his game, and you know he take that
- 29:05Speaker 4: and he make it his own ship. But Malik is
- 29:08Speaker 4: one of those guys. Quickly is another one of those guys.
- 29:12Speaker 2: He said it, you know, he.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Said it gave me my flowers to my face, like, bro,
- 29:16Speaker 4: like you was my favorite player growing up and that
- 29:18Speaker 4: was that was that was dope to experience that, you know,
- 29:21Speaker 4: especially with just being a six man, you know, not
- 29:24Speaker 4: to undercut my career. But you know, I wasn't an
- 29:27Speaker 4: All Star, wasn't a superstar. So to have some young
- 29:30Speaker 4: kids pattern their games after mind, that's you know, that's
- 29:33Speaker 4: that's like the biggest honor to me.
- 29:35Speaker 1: And that's one thing I want to say, Like niggas
- 29:38Speaker 1: is say superstar whatever. But you meant a lot more
- 29:40Speaker 1: to people off the court just as much as you
- 29:42Speaker 1: did on the course. So I think that does put
- 29:43Speaker 1: you at a superstar status, bro, because we look at
- 29:46Speaker 1: you totally different. Like that might be critically acclaimed, but
- 29:50Speaker 1: the respect level, I think especially Y'll talk about that
- 29:52Speaker 1: a lot. The respect that you give from people is
- 29:54Speaker 1: way more than that. How do you feel about that? Like,
- 29:56Speaker 1: I know you probably should get more.
- 29:58Speaker 2: You'll just do. But to everybody who's he you know
- 30:00Speaker 2: what it is like, it's always respectful.
- 30:02Speaker 4: I'm at peace for my career. Yeah, I'm at peace
- 30:04Speaker 4: with my career because I got the respect from my peers.
- 30:07Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 30:08Speaker 4: If you talk to NBA players and people in the circle,
- 30:11Speaker 4: the NBA circle, I always give my flowers, I always
- 30:14Speaker 4: give my respect. And that's the only thing that's ever
- 30:16Speaker 4: mattered to me. The people that I've competed against the
- 30:19Speaker 4: people that I've competed with. They always say that I
- 30:22Speaker 4: impacted the game positively, and that's it. So never being
- 30:26Speaker 4: an All Star, I could care less. Never getting a ring,
- 30:31Speaker 4: I care but I could care less. Never being a superstar,
- 30:36Speaker 4: never making you know, the big money, I could care
- 30:39Speaker 4: less because at the end of the day, I enjoyed
- 30:42Speaker 4: this game from a standpoint of being a kid.
- 30:44Speaker 5: I learned how to play basketball when.
- 30:45Speaker 4: I was five years old, and I was able to
- 30:47Speaker 4: feed my family and make a living off of just
- 30:50Speaker 4: playing basketball. So with that alone, I'm cool. I'm at
- 30:53Speaker 4: peace with everything and how it went for me, for sure.
- 30:56Speaker 2: No facts.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I remember you saying you changed when you came to
- 30:59Speaker 1: the team, changed every way I looked at like the NBA.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I remember one day I was complaining about something and
- 31:05Speaker 1: you was hurt. That's when you're at Toyo a cl
- 31:07Speaker 1: and you was training. He was doing the stuff with
- 31:08Speaker 1: Pete and we was in the training room and you
- 31:10Speaker 1: was like, bro, you tripping. You know, we get paid
- 31:13Speaker 1: to play a kids game. And I was looking at him,
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm like, now, nigg you.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Understand, like they ain't passed me the ball last night.
- 31:23Speaker 1: You like now, I said, kids game, Bro, you get
- 31:25Speaker 1: paid to play a kids game. And after that day
- 31:27Speaker 1: I looked at it different, like, dangn we really get
- 31:29Speaker 1: paid a lot of money to go do something that
- 31:31Speaker 1: we was doing as a kid for free.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Cause we get we get wrapped up in ourselves, and
- 31:36Speaker 4: we get wrapped up in ourselves and we just kind
- 31:39Speaker 4: of lose sight of like big pictures. It's like, Bro,
- 31:41Speaker 4: we're stressing about some shit that we first of all,
- 31:43Speaker 4: we can't change it. Yeah, it's gonna be what it's
- 31:45Speaker 4: gonna be, you know what I'm saying, So why stress
- 31:47Speaker 4: about it?
- 31:48Speaker 2: And that's how.
- 31:48Speaker 5: That's how. But the game made me like that just
- 31:50Speaker 5: from from experiences.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Bro, Yeah it's different. Bro, you had a different mindset.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I think I'm want to get off basketball for a
- 31:58Speaker 1: little bit, but you kind of messed up my life.
- 32:03Speaker 4: You said that to say this.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to get back to the real because
- 32:09Speaker 1: me and you was hanging out and you had whips.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Bro.
- 32:13Speaker 1: So I used to call I had a challenger, no
- 32:15Speaker 1: no shape, anybody got a challenger, but because you want challenge,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I had a challenge. Challenge, but I had a black challenger.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I thought I was doing something. I think mon might
- 32:25Speaker 1: have been read at the time. But he came, he
- 32:28Speaker 1: got ghosts, he got the jeep with the big tires,
- 32:32Speaker 1: he got all he pulling up and I'm like, what
- 32:35Speaker 1: were you going tonight?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Wherever? I said, what help about to change things about?
- 32:40Speaker 4: Like young and dun Young doun?
- 32:44Speaker 2: I was following right behind you.
- 32:45Speaker 5: I spent way too much money on cars trying to
- 32:47Speaker 5: impress it.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Man, I was right behind you. I ain't get the ghost.
- 32:52Speaker 2: What was your favorite whip that you balked though? Man?
- 32:56Speaker 5: Favorite car I ever had is a ship?
- 32:59Speaker 2: Uh?
- 33:00Speaker 1: I think?
- 33:00Speaker 5: Uh uh?
- 33:02Speaker 4: You had a Yeah, I had everything but a cop car. Now,
- 33:07Speaker 4: I told her you was probably probably my I had.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I had a S sixty three.
- 33:12Speaker 2: AMG.
- 33:13Speaker 4: That's probably my favorite. Yeah, you had that with the
- 33:17Speaker 4: hogs in you. I had a couple.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Don't cat it is what it is.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Respect that's fine.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Also, who I gotta ask, what's one of your favorite games?
- 33:27Speaker 1: The most memorable games you played in? No matter what
- 33:29Speaker 1: level it was.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I don't remember bro Offerer, they really run together. I
- 33:34Speaker 4: ain't gonna lie to you. I fucked up in my
- 33:38Speaker 4: career because I always was in a moment. I never
- 33:41Speaker 4: really paid attention. I never really cared about like what
- 33:45Speaker 4: was going on, always just.
- 33:46Speaker 5: In a moment.
- 33:47Speaker 4: And my homies to tell you, I got the worst
- 33:49Speaker 4: memory when it comes to basketball stuff because I play
- 33:52Speaker 4: a game deleted from my head and get ready for
- 33:55Speaker 4: the next one. Bro.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Honestly, I wish I could do that. Yeah, I remember everything.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I tell you a story about anybody in here. Oh,
- 34:05Speaker 1: I remember Buddy by the tree over there.
- 34:07Speaker 2: No, but I want to ask you, because you.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Starting a podcast and you got it going, how was
- 34:14Speaker 1: that like transitioning from basketball? How you asked me? How
- 34:17Speaker 1: you will never imagine me doing this, like what it's
- 34:19Speaker 1: like for you.
- 34:20Speaker 4: I'm figuring. I'm figuring it out, bro. Yeah, because I'm
- 34:24Speaker 4: very much like t I don't really like talking, and
- 34:28Speaker 4: the podcast it puts you into space to kind of
- 34:30Speaker 4: talk about other people a lot. Yeah, and I don't
- 34:33Speaker 4: I don't care to have an opinion on I don't
- 34:34Speaker 4: care who fucking who. I don't care who dating who.
- 34:37Speaker 4: And so we're trying to we're trying to find our lane.
- 34:39Speaker 4: And when I'm spanking, shout out to spank Horden moves,
- 34:43Speaker 4: my my co host on the on the show, we
- 34:46Speaker 4: found a good vibe where we can talk about comedy,
- 34:48Speaker 4: we can talk about some lifestyle stuff. So to me,
- 34:52Speaker 4: I'm more interested in the comedy world. He more interested
- 34:54Speaker 4: in the basketball world. So he asked me a bunch
- 34:57Speaker 4: of basketball questions. I can ask him a bunch of
- 34:59Speaker 4: comedy questions, and then we can meet in the middle
- 35:01Speaker 4: when we start talking about lifestyle.
- 35:02Speaker 5: So it worked for us, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:04Speaker 4: That's why we're gonna be very selective about who we
- 35:07Speaker 4: bring on the podcast because everybody's story don't make sense
- 35:10Speaker 4: to what we want, you know what I'm saying. Even
- 35:12Speaker 4: when we clip up stuff, we value the labs more
- 35:15Speaker 4: than we value the controversy, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So a lot of our clips that come out, it'd
- 35:19Speaker 4: be more for the labs and the comedy, the lighthearder
- 35:22Speaker 4: shit opposed to know the controversy and all the other shit.
- 35:26Speaker 2: And I gotta ask it's a question for both y'all.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Like the way you see how the NBA is covered
- 35:30Speaker 1: and media's covered now that y'all have platforms, Like you said,
- 35:33Speaker 1: you do it the honorable way. We do it the
- 35:34Speaker 1: honorable way to see other people like kind of do
- 35:37Speaker 1: it differently. It kind of adds more value to that.
- 35:39Speaker 1: How do you feel now that you can kind of
- 35:40Speaker 1: be able to say, all right, I can talk to
- 35:42Speaker 1: these young players, I can talk to these young comments
- 35:43Speaker 1: and get to a platform from all positivity rather than
- 35:46Speaker 1: trying to catch the TMD bullshit.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Yeah, it's cool to have your platform. I think some
- 35:50Speaker 4: of us shouldn't have platforms. Tweet you did what I'm saying.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I think some of us shouldn't be talking. But everybody's
- 35:57Speaker 4: free to have their opinions. I think it's too much opinions.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I think it's too much information out there. Like every
- 36:02Speaker 4: day we probably we turning the journalists. We might see
- 36:05Speaker 4: a clip or something that might not even be true,
- 36:08Speaker 4: and we might debate that shit all day with our homies.
- 36:11Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 36:11Speaker 4: We spend so much time in other people business, in
- 36:13Speaker 4: other people backyards that we kind of lose sight of,
- 36:17Speaker 4: you know, having your own, your own opinion.
- 36:19Speaker 5: I think we were too deep into group thinking.
- 36:21Speaker 4: So with everybody having podcasts and just trying to find
- 36:26Speaker 4: your vehicle the best way you can. That shit is difficult, bro,
- 36:29Speaker 4: I'll be honest with you, just difficult because you you
- 36:31Speaker 4: straddling in that line because until you can tell you
- 36:33Speaker 4: we got relationships with a lot of the people that
- 36:35Speaker 4: we have opinions on, so you kind of got a
- 36:38Speaker 4: tiptoe around saying the wrong shit and kind of giving
- 36:41Speaker 4: your honest opinion too at the same time.
- 36:44Speaker 2: That's why I can't get tickets in Milwaukee's what.
- 36:47Speaker 4: You said, what's going on in Milwaukee?
- 36:49Speaker 2: I just said, I ain't cared that we want like
- 36:53Speaker 2: we want a chip. I ain't care.
- 36:55Speaker 7: Bro.
- 36:56Speaker 2: After party, all after party was trash.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Bro.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Look, I had better time than little Whilville bro like party.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It was me Brook Lopez. That's that's already.
- 37:11Speaker 1: That was I know y'all gonna have on the show
- 37:14Speaker 1: one day, pj AXI Bro. We was in there looking
- 37:16Speaker 1: at each other. Why y'all ain't fly out? Y'all ain't
- 37:19Speaker 1: have a.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Budget, Listen, I wasn't. I wasn't. Yeah, the budget was Johnnie.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Every every championship team. I know they they've gassed up
- 37:26Speaker 4: the jet.
- 37:27Speaker 2: You ain't get about this one. He brought his ass
- 37:30Speaker 2: back to I got in my FOURD.
- 37:32Speaker 1: They celebrated in milwaukee'm country. We didn't celebrate. I'm telling
- 37:36Speaker 1: you it wasn't nothing.
- 37:37Speaker 2: What you did? You hopped in the rapture.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I got it by truck and I drove back home
- 37:43Speaker 1: to Indianapolis so I can hang out with my friends.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Broad you just.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Want the championship, playing the game.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Man, I was, I'm like, load up, get the square right?
- 38:00Speaker 3: No man?
- 38:01Speaker 2: They what I mean?
- 38:02Speaker 4: You want to chip and drove home. They would have
- 38:05Speaker 4: drove to Vegas.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Whole you know me.
- 38:09Speaker 1: J Tucker Bobby Porters were like, Yo, let's go to Vegas, y'all.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Or this party. It ain't no party in Milwaukee. It's
- 38:14Speaker 1: probably like twenty people in the little venue is that.
- 38:17Speaker 1: There wasn't nothing going on. So we asked Sean if
- 38:19Speaker 1: you want to go Vegas? He said, now I'm going
- 38:20Speaker 1: to celebrate with my family. Oh yeah, Once NA say
- 38:24Speaker 1: it's over, it's over.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Like after that champagne shore they gave me. He was
- 38:28Speaker 2: a part of this. They ain't get me no champagne Shore. Bro,
- 38:31Speaker 2: You're crazy.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I know I was drinking hennessy. Yeah, I had a
- 38:38Speaker 1: whole bottle hend Doll by myself. I don't know why
- 38:43Speaker 1: I can't even party.
- 38:44Speaker 2: That's words.
- 38:45Speaker 4: You ain't never heard nothing like that, you little Now,
- 38:48Speaker 4: that's that's shipped me.
- 38:50Speaker 2: It's a fascinating pot. I know.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Yeah, we'd have been on a jet champ.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I said, if we would have won a championship in Atlanta,
- 38:57Speaker 1: look to jet for worst.
- 38:59Speaker 2: That's the fact.
- 39:00Speaker 4: We don't suggest for worse. Trust me, we're gonna spend
- 39:02Speaker 4: that money.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I was hoping the owner like gave us a jay
- 39:04Speaker 1: and we could spend like.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Two hundred thousand on him.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Yeah, y'all, imagine we would have won a championship in Atlanta.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Our parade party would have had a Magic City float.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Freakny never see that float coming down the street.
- 39:21Speaker 5: That's a nice float.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Bell what going to the top.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Last game?
- 39:29Speaker 5: I probably wouldn't mind that.
- 39:31Speaker 1: That would have been fire with the Falcons almost one time,
- 39:34Speaker 1: my fa y'all of anybody. But when Tom Brady came back,
- 39:37Speaker 1: I had booked a ticket to come back.
- 39:39Speaker 2: That night we had a game in New Orleans.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I was in New York.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I booked a ticket to come and it
- 39:45Speaker 2: didn't work out. I lost my money. But it's all
- 39:48Speaker 2: in New York.
- 39:49Speaker 5: Everybody was making plans. Everybody was making plans.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Y'all got something that he gotta be here. I'm gonna
- 39:59Speaker 1: spend all my money and see what's going on.
- 40:06Speaker 2: A man.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Before we get out of here, we're gonna open up
- 40:08Speaker 1: to the crowd. Anybody got any questions they want to ask,
- 40:11Speaker 1: any brave souls, They're gonna put you on the spot.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Okay, big dog, what's that?
- 40:20Speaker 5: I gotta yeah, I gotta get a mic in the
- 40:21Speaker 5: crowd or some.
- 40:26Speaker 8: All right, would you, Luke, would you have rather than
- 40:29Speaker 8: one your three six times?
- 40:33Speaker 2: And you gotta explain why too?
- 40:34Speaker 8: Would you would have rather one your three six times
- 40:36Speaker 8: or uh six Man of the Year or would you
- 40:40Speaker 8: rather started for an organization?
- 40:42Speaker 2: And why?
- 40:44Speaker 5: It's a really good question.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Uh. I'm gonna take my Uh damn, that's a good question. Bro.
- 40:52Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 40:54Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Uh, I'm gonna take it how it went, Bro, I
- 40:58Speaker 4: think you know it went how it went for me.
- 41:02Speaker 4: It wasn't the ideal. It wasn't ideal for me to
- 41:04Speaker 4: come off the bench. I would have liked to start it.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I would have liked to been a feature guard on
- 41:08Speaker 4: a team. But it just didn't go down like that,
- 41:11Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. But I'm blessed to have
- 41:13Speaker 4: eighteen thousand career points off the bench, which is which
- 41:16Speaker 4: is legendary in itself. So I take my career how
- 41:20Speaker 4: I went, So I take my three six men. Okay,
- 41:23Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Good question.
- 41:25Speaker 1: I got a question for you, Lou. Do you think
- 41:28Speaker 1: the award should be named after you and Jamal?
- 41:30Speaker 5: Absolutely?
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah. They gotta change that man.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, And I tell you I would appreciate it
- 41:35Speaker 4: either way. Either they can name it after Jamal or
- 41:38Speaker 4: name it after me, one or the other. I think
- 41:39Speaker 4: we both changed it, we transcended it. Always when this
- 41:43Speaker 4: conversation come up, I always picked myself because I made
- 41:47Speaker 4: it like, I made it a cool thing to be,
- 41:51Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying. And I think Jamal's path
- 41:54Speaker 4: in my path was different. He was he was a
- 41:55Speaker 4: feature guard. He had opportunities to be that. I think
- 41:58Speaker 4: later on in his career he became I'm a six man.
- 42:01Speaker 4: I was a six man from early on, you know.
- 42:04Speaker 4: So it was always my it was always my route,
- 42:06Speaker 4: it was always my role. So anytime it come up,
- 42:09Speaker 4: only for that reason, I always give myself to nod
- 42:11Speaker 4: and I say, yeah, I always say it should be
- 42:14Speaker 4: me because only because of that.
- 42:16Speaker 5: But yeah, we made it cool.
- 42:18Speaker 4: But I would appreciate it if they changed the name.
- 42:21Speaker 4: We thought me and Jamal always behind the scenes, we
- 42:24Speaker 4: was like, yeah, were about to that shit about to be.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Named after one of us, you know what I'm saying.
- 42:28Speaker 4: And then they went to John Havlicek, who got eleven championship.
- 42:32Speaker 2: I didn't get that one.
- 42:33Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 42:34Speaker 4: I didn't get that one even but much respect to
- 42:35Speaker 4: him and his family and the things that he was
- 42:37Speaker 4: able to do on the court, I just thought he
- 42:39Speaker 4: should have been me and Me or Jamal.
- 42:41Speaker 6: It should have been what's up? Peace, Gods? This question
- 42:45Speaker 6: is for lou and for Jeff. I wanted to know
- 42:47Speaker 6: who's on your Mount Rushmore of Atl Metro area basketball players,
- 42:54Speaker 6: that's Louke.
- 42:58Speaker 4: So that's four spots, uh Me, Dwight Howard, Sharif Afdoor Rahm,
- 43:10Speaker 4: and I throw one of the young guys in there.
- 43:13Speaker 4: I split between Sharif Cooper and a man. Sharif did it.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Sharif is legendary in the city for what he did
- 43:20Speaker 4: for high school basketball. So that fourth spot I was
- 43:23Speaker 4: split between Sharif and Man. And the only reason I
- 43:29Speaker 4: always say this, but the only reason I leave Josh
- 43:31Speaker 4: Smith out of this is because he transferred to Okill.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Other than that, Josh was putting pressure on the whole city.
- 43:36Speaker 4: But then he transferred out and then he went out
