- 0:24Speaker 1: good to see you too. Man. We always catch each
- 0:26Speaker 1: other out and functions. Yes, sir, man, you've been working
- 0:29Speaker 1: so hard. Bro, appreciate that you got the tour coming up.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I got the tour coming up. Yeah, first leg of
- 0:36Speaker 1: the tour. I excited about that, you know what I'm saying.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Perform some new material about to come out. So always good,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, I feel like you have a pretty
- 0:46Speaker 1: insane output when it comes to just like putting out
- 0:49Speaker 1: bodies of work, Bro, Like for you, like, what would
- 0:52Speaker 1: you kind of attribute the work ethic to? Just it
- 0:56Speaker 1: feels like you figured it out. Yeah, you know, I
- 1:01Speaker 1: don't know, man, You know, like I studied the greats,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, And you know, just even
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it just watching Pak like when he
- 1:11Speaker 1: was in the studio, he would tell him like, look,
- 1:14Speaker 1: we're gonna lay all this shit down, mix and master
- 1:17Speaker 1: that shit later. Let's get the verses done on to
- 1:20Speaker 1: the next. Like, I'm always trying to get to the
- 1:21Speaker 1: finish line, and it's easy to do when you're like
- 1:26Speaker 1: working on a project with one producer. So for example,
- 1:29Speaker 1: if I lock in with Fraud, we're in there. Like
- 1:32Speaker 1: I just left New York. I was there for a week.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We did ten records and two sessions, you know what
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm saying. And you guys already got two albums. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 1: we got two albums and this next one is me
- 1:45Speaker 1: and Camaya, all produced by Fraud. Yeah. Man, I wanted
- 1:50Speaker 1: to put her on you know, like shit, yeah, you know,
- 1:53Speaker 1: because I feel like I'm good at you know, I
- 1:56Speaker 1: can A and R and curate things well, so cool
- 2:00Speaker 1: to like, you know, I'm like, well, you know what,
- 2:02Speaker 1: that hasn't been done before. Let's do that. You know.
- 2:04Speaker 1: For people who don't know, man, give us your background. Obviously,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you're from LA kind of how long you've been making
- 2:09Speaker 1: music where you're from a part of the city you're from,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you know, from the West side of Compton. I've been
- 2:16Speaker 1: doing this shit a little minute, you know. I kind
- 2:18Speaker 1: of came into the game with Yams. He was the
- 2:20Speaker 1: first one to kind of discover me, you know, put
- 2:24Speaker 1: out a project in the SoundCloud era with Fools Gold,
- 2:30Speaker 1: and then my debut EP was with Alchemist in twenty seventeen.
- 2:35Speaker 1: That's when I started like streaming and putting music out.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So you know, we got we still knew, were still
- 2:43Speaker 1: on the first run. You know what I'm saying. I'm
- 2:44Speaker 1: finn to run it up some more, but you know,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I've been in the game of you know a little second.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I guess how did Asap Yams discover you? So me
- 2:55Speaker 1: and Yams we met in Texas, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And the way that we met was kind of crazy.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I was out fucking around at south By Southwest. We
- 3:09Speaker 1: was on the same like showcases or whatnot, and he
- 3:14Speaker 1: just took a liking to me. Bro. He was like, man,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I fucked with this dude, And you know, we had
- 3:19Speaker 1: mutual friends like Dash and stuff, and there was a
- 3:22Speaker 1: lot of shit going on at the South but I
- 3:23Speaker 1: think there was like a rumble somewhere at the Fader
- 3:27Speaker 1: for it or some shit like that. It was that year.
- 3:29Speaker 1: But anyways, we was wild and out there. We got
- 3:31Speaker 1: along and at the time I was living with Big
- 3:35Speaker 1: Face Games brother on Brazil and Wilmington, and I brought
- 3:40Speaker 1: Dash over there. That's I don't know if you know
- 3:43Speaker 1: who Dashes, but he used to rap with them a
- 3:46Speaker 1: lot too, that's Dame Dash nephew. And I put him
- 3:50Speaker 1: on a joint and we shot a video and Yams
- 3:54Speaker 1: liked it, and you know what I'm saying. And at
- 3:56Speaker 1: this time, I was kind of figuring out my sound.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I just wanted to rap
- 4:00Speaker 1: over oldies and you know, loop shit up. Yeah, you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: so he kind of gave me the direction. Like, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 1: he put the confidence in me, because before I was
- 4:11Speaker 1: just wrapping in the hood with the homies and the
- 4:13Speaker 1: only like, you know, success I had seen at the time,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you know, was like game or h you know, I
- 4:24Speaker 1: used to run around with Sug and you know, just
- 4:26Speaker 1: soak up game from him. But this was some new shit,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I like the way
- 4:32Speaker 1: the direction, Like I liked the way the music was going,
- 4:36Speaker 1: and like this was around like everybody was hanging out
- 4:39Speaker 1: at Fairfax and I'm just you know what I'm saying,
- 4:42Speaker 1: streetwear culture, skateboard and all that type of shit, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this shit is cool and it
- 4:46Speaker 1: can get me out of the hoods. So you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I started sucking around and moving in those circles a
- 4:52Speaker 1: little bit. Okay, what year were you running around with
- 4:55Speaker 1: Shug Night Damn Sug Probably like young, like two thousand
- 5:01Speaker 1: and eight, nine, maybe two thousand and seven even Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Sugar would give me a lot of game, man, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and bring bring us around and stuff. And but you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: IVE seen the game change, and you know I had
- 5:20Speaker 1: to take a different approach, and you know, you gotta
- 5:24Speaker 1: move with the times, you know what I'm saying. How
- 5:26Speaker 1: did you guys initially connect with me? And should well
- 5:29Speaker 1: just you know, just Compton shit, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So you know some of the big homies, you know,
- 5:37Speaker 1: it was fucking with him and you know, brought me
- 5:40Speaker 1: around him and he took a liking to me. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: are you making music at this time? I was, But
- 5:45Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I kind of like i'd
- 5:48Speaker 1: gotten you know, more caught up in street shit. I'm
- 5:51Speaker 1: not gonna lie, and like music was just like second
- 5:54Speaker 1: secondary to me. Yeah, it was like a hobby. But
- 5:57Speaker 1: I you know, I definitely still did it, but it
- 6:00Speaker 1: wasn't like you know what I'm saying, I was I
- 6:02Speaker 1: didn't know really what direction to go in yet, you
- 6:05Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, I didn't really have my sound.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Like before I started doing the stuff as Lendon Drugs,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'd put out one tape with Mustard and I would
- 6:18Speaker 1: just take different songs from different studios, and I'm like,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Mustard was the homie saw yeah, this was he was
- 6:25Speaker 1: making beats. He had just did Rack City, so like,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and then Nima had hit me. That's how I got
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the Empire system because I remember I just threw
- 6:32Speaker 1: the tape out there and this is still like like
- 6:35Speaker 1: physicals and like a couple of my boys that were
- 6:39Speaker 1: from like the Jungles, they were like, instead of just
- 6:42Speaker 1: putting the tapes and swap meets and liquor stores around
- 6:48Speaker 1: the hood, you should go up to Fairfax and put
- 6:50Speaker 1: it in the hundreds and Supreme and Diamond and yeah yeah, yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So that kind of like brought me up there, and
- 6:56Speaker 1: then you know, people on that side of town started
- 6:59Speaker 1: here and my shit. So I was like, you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I had the right intentions to do it, but I
- 7:04Speaker 1: wasn't like it wasn't until like you know, I got
- 7:08Speaker 1: with Sean and started like you know, really figuring out
- 7:11Speaker 1: my sound and what I wanted to do. And then
- 7:15Speaker 1: you know, with the help of Yams just kind of
- 7:18Speaker 1: showing me the ropes a little bit. You know, Yams
- 7:20Speaker 1: did a lot. He put me with Vice, and then
- 7:23Speaker 1: that led into me producing that documentary with Kendrick or
- 7:28Speaker 1: about Kendrick in my Home He's called Noisy bompt In
- 7:31Speaker 1: and that they also had Vice was doing all of
- 7:34Speaker 1: my videos. Then I had Fool's Gold, you know what
- 7:38Speaker 1: I'm saying. So that was like kind of the push
- 7:40Speaker 1: that pushed me into like, all right, I'm gonna take
- 7:43Speaker 1: music serious all the way, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I feel like you've kind of like done a really
- 7:48Speaker 1: good job of, like I guess, being in the right circles,
- 7:51Speaker 1: having the right people co sign you. Yeah. Yeah, And
- 7:54Speaker 1: I think that's really important too, you know, like the
- 7:58Speaker 1: whole shit with Al that was like monumental for me
- 8:01Speaker 1: to be able to have like him do my first
- 8:03Speaker 1: solo you know EP, and then through there that's how
- 8:08Speaker 1: like you know, me and Gun and Conway met, you
- 8:12Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like the first tour I ever
- 8:15Speaker 1: went on was it was just me and Conway, Gun
- 8:20Speaker 1: and Benny. It was just us for Yeah, what's the sidetrack?
- 8:24Speaker 1: What's up with the Griselda debut? So you know, it's
- 8:28Speaker 1: guns a busy dude. I'm a busy dude. We want
- 8:31Speaker 1: to make sure that it's done right. We want to
- 8:33Speaker 1: be in the lab at the same time. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I have, you know, producers that I work closely with.
- 8:42Speaker 1: He has the producers that he works closely with, and
- 8:45Speaker 1: we're just gonna come put it together and it's got
- 8:48Speaker 1: to be a pot of gumbo. But you guys got
- 8:49Speaker 1: to kind of be actively working on it for sure,
- 8:52Speaker 1: because like you know, you need to be in there
- 8:54Speaker 1: with conductor and all conductor, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And Darrenger, Well, me and Darrener got it ep done,
- 9:00Speaker 1: but we keep like changing it up. But yeah, and Monk,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But the thing is with that,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it's like it's just timing. Man. Everybody's busy and moving around.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But it's gonna come. I want my debut solo to
- 9:16Speaker 1: come out on Griselda. So it's crazy you say that
- 9:19Speaker 1: and you have so much music yeah, because I won't
- 9:22Speaker 1: even be able to put out my solo album. This year.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I got me and Rock Marcy album the Me Kamaia
- 9:28Speaker 1: and Harry Fraud, and then I got a funk album
- 9:31Speaker 1: with with Dame Funk and and then I got another
- 9:36Speaker 1: album with Cocaine, the singer and those. Yeah, me and
- 9:40Speaker 1: Cocaine got like a whole like kind of like a
- 9:42Speaker 1: funk group we're doing called Billy Ocean, where I've taken
- 9:47Speaker 1: some of the cats that produce for like selection like
- 9:50Speaker 1: I Am Nobody, and then Jake One and Lavin Calli
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And then me and Sean
- 9:59Speaker 1: and you know, me and Coca got some cold ship.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So it's a lot of it's tough because you know,
- 10:05Speaker 1: like us in the indie, like I don't like saying underground,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I like to remove that word,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but I said, underground is kind of thing anymore. It's
- 10:13Speaker 1: to be a thing. But I feel like there's so
- 10:16Speaker 1: much there's just sub genres of this ship. There's the
- 10:18Speaker 1: independent I mean, yeah, I feel like the underground ship
- 10:21Speaker 1: is out the door. I feel like it because it's
- 10:24Speaker 1: like what you call what Larry and Alchemists are doing underground,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I was that's a major rollout, you know
- 10:31Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, and it's being pushed back in
- 10:34Speaker 1: the day you would think of like guys like Dilated
- 10:36Speaker 1: People's is underground, yes, but it wouldn't even really be
- 10:40Speaker 1: underground because they were on Capitol or like yeah, even
- 10:43Speaker 1: like the Rockets record shit or but the real underground
- 10:46Speaker 1: ship out of LA was Project Blow Project Blow. Yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 1: bus Driver and I got a lot of history with
- 10:54Speaker 1: those cats. When I was like thirteen, you know, I
- 10:58Speaker 1: was running around like with uh with CVE and and
- 11:04Speaker 1: l a cool rifle man and soaking up game. That
- 11:06Speaker 1: type of music actually opened my whole ship up because
- 11:10Speaker 1: I really only like was listening to gangster rap and
- 11:13Speaker 1: like East Coast shit at the time. And then I
- 11:15Speaker 1: was like, Oh, it's some ship coming out of LA
- 11:18Speaker 1: that's like different, you know what I mean? So how
- 11:21Speaker 1: do you ooh, we're gonna do that? I'm trying to
- 11:25Speaker 1: figure out because I'm an eighties baby, you know what
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm saying. But I was my best friend's brothers and
- 11:32Speaker 1: Dilated People's Oh yeah, who was your best friend's brother?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Rock Oh ship? Yeah? I know evs my boy yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 1: my boy too. Yeah that's crazy, no evidence. I was
- 11:42Speaker 1: thirteen really yeah damn So, I like I remember seeing
- 11:47Speaker 1: them on the Platform tour and then when they dropped
- 11:52Speaker 1: Expansion Team. We came out here when I was like
- 11:53Speaker 1: fourteen and went to the record release party at fucking
- 11:56Speaker 1: Fat Beats and they had to show a Jurassic five
- 11:58Speaker 1: at Ship. And then when they had the Marathon drop,
- 12:02Speaker 1: they opened up for Kanye a House of Blues. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So I was around all that ship bro. Yeah yeah yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: that ship was dope, man, that whole Like like that's
- 12:12Speaker 1: why even like while we're talking about this, like I
- 12:15Speaker 1: like to do ship and bring Like for me, I
- 12:18Speaker 1: like to work with people that I grew up on.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Like so I'm like I did a song with Tash
- 12:23Speaker 1: and we just put out a video Shout to the
- 12:25Speaker 1: Licks man, Shout outs to the Licks life. That's one
- 12:28Speaker 1: of my favorite albums man. That was the ship that
- 12:30Speaker 1: him and him and Rake one had that video. That
- 12:33Speaker 1: was the ship. But you know, like for me, like
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know, Ta Tash. I invited Tash and East Swift
- 12:39Speaker 1: to my house and then I was like, let's shoot
- 12:41Speaker 1: this video. I bought like a whole in Compton. I
- 12:45Speaker 1: bought this whole fucking like warehouse full of like vintage
- 12:48Speaker 1: denos and like I got dead stock for days like Fooboo, Avera, Rex, Pelly,
- 12:54Speaker 1: Pelly Jackets, denim shirts, everything we about to launch. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: about to launch a store with this reworks company called
- 13:05Speaker 1: Frankie Collective. So that's gonna be coming in the spring,
- 13:09Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Ax, When I was like fifteen,
- 13:13Speaker 1: we'd get them from Burlington, but they'd be like fucking
- 13:15Speaker 1: four X yeah. Yeah, you see they're coming back though,
- 13:19Speaker 1: like and Ax, they all like relaunching this shit, and like,
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know, I always been into fashion, Like people don't
- 13:26Speaker 1: know this, but I'm like, you know, the you know
- 13:29Speaker 1: kind of the I don't know what my title is,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I would say, but you know, maybe the head of
- 13:35Speaker 1: marketing over at Pro Club, you know what I mean.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I took that and saw an opportunity to be like,
- 13:41Speaker 1: this is a dope ass, this is a It's a staple.
- 13:44Speaker 1: We grew up on it in the hood, everybody grew
- 13:47Speaker 1: up on it in LA and like I wanted to
- 13:49Speaker 1: see it just you know, still keep its roots in
- 13:51Speaker 1: the swap meets and liquor stores, but start doing collaborations.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So when I came on board, we did the collaboration
- 13:57Speaker 1: with y GA Complex Con, started doing the three packs
- 14:02Speaker 1: with FTP. We did the pop up for Shoreline at
- 14:07Speaker 1: uh Sloss and Cookies. Just do a pro club, Yeah,
- 14:10Speaker 1: we did that one, yep, and and then we had
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know, bernerd was rocking that pro club on the Forbes,
- 14:15Speaker 1: which was tight, you know what I'm saying. So you know, uh,
- 14:19Speaker 1: the fashion ship is always I feel like, been a
- 14:21Speaker 1: part of you know, music, every every rapper had when
- 14:26Speaker 1: they was popping. Every rapper had a brand. If it
- 14:28Speaker 1: was Nas, it was Esco. Of course, I always thought
- 14:32Speaker 1: Johnny Blaze was method Man, because ye Johnny Blair was.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I just remember seeing the ship in the Source. I
- 14:38Speaker 1: never got any of them. Yeah yeah yeah, so they
- 14:40Speaker 1: had a gang of that ship. So I just grabbed
- 14:42Speaker 1: all that ship. So we'll see what it do. But
- 14:44Speaker 1: that I'm also gonna launch my own line this year.
- 14:47Speaker 1: But you know, uh, back to the Tash story. Uh,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I was like, Yo, let's shoot a commercial from my
- 14:53Speaker 1: uh for my all the vintage pieces and jump jump
- 14:57Speaker 1: on this old ship. And we shot a video. But
- 14:59Speaker 1: I just liked to work with cats that you know
- 15:02Speaker 1: I grew up listening to. So when I was able
- 15:05Speaker 1: to meet Cube and you know, Corrupt and Bun and
- 15:09Speaker 1: all these cats, it's like a blessing to me, man,
- 15:11Speaker 1: because you know that's what inspired me to do what
- 15:15Speaker 1: I do. So for me, it's like the thirteen year
- 15:19Speaker 1: old me is like living your dream. I'm living in
- 15:21Speaker 1: my dream. Yeah, you know it's Bootleg keV here. Got

- 20:44Speaker 1: let's get back to the interview. You you mentioned living
- 20:49Speaker 1: with Big Face, and I just remember Big Face one
- 20:52Speaker 1: hundred being like games brother, and then they had this
- 20:54Speaker 1: falling out and this was like early like I wouldn't
- 20:59Speaker 1: even say YouTube maybe, but it was like DVD ship.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I just remember that there was like a big division
- 21:03Speaker 1: between those two. Obviously Game being a Compton legend, his
- 21:08Speaker 1: brother being a Compton legend. Yeah, what was your guy's relationship? Like, well,
- 21:12Speaker 1: I didn't really know. Again, I met Game like maybe
- 21:15Speaker 1: you know a couple of times when he was like
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know, as he was blowing up and stuff. But
- 21:21Speaker 1: my relationship was more with face, you know what I'm saying,
- 21:24Speaker 1: through a couple of big homies from my hood. And
- 21:27Speaker 1: at the time, I didn't have nowhere to uh you know,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I didn't have nowhere to stay, So you had a
- 21:32Speaker 1: place to stay with him. Yeah, he opened his house
- 21:34Speaker 1: to me and that ended up turning into a long time.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So I was there, like you know what I mean.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And in that those days, that's when I met Freeway
- 21:41Speaker 1: Rick and I was selling Indian hair and then he
- 21:44Speaker 1: was selling hair and we was trapping, trapping the hair,
- 21:48Speaker 1: trapping the hair all over all over Comped in South Central, everywhere, Watts.
- 21:53Speaker 1: We was really making some good money off of hair
- 21:57Speaker 1: until that game got saturated. You know what I'm saying,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and so that shit's crazy to go get free clothes
- 22:04Speaker 1: on Fairfax. We would go get all the promo stuff
- 22:08Speaker 1: and then like you know, I would wear most of
- 22:10Speaker 1: that ship, but Rick would go and flip that ship. Yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 1: that's my dog man. Me and Rick got a lot
- 22:16Speaker 1: of history. Man, We've been we've been broke together, and
- 22:19Speaker 1: we got rich together. So you have collab projects with
- 22:24Speaker 1: some of the most legendary producers. You got an album
- 22:28Speaker 1: with Mugs, you got an album with Alchemists, you got
- 22:30Speaker 1: a couple albums with Harry Fraud, you got Rock Marciano
- 22:33Speaker 1: the collab album coming out for you. What is like,
- 22:39Speaker 1: give me kind of like the breakdown, like the creative
- 22:42Speaker 1: process on working with each one of these guys, because
- 22:44Speaker 1: I'm sure everyone's different producers, creative processes. Maybe you know,
- 22:50Speaker 1: whether it's recording whatever, what What's what's the difference between everybody? Everybody?
- 22:55Speaker 1: I mean for the most part, bro, Like we all
- 22:57Speaker 1: like friends. So you know, I like, I really like
- 23:02Speaker 1: getting in there with Fraud because frauds like a good coach.
- 23:06Speaker 1: He'll be like, nah, say it like this, or nah,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you need to retake that again. Someone recently told me
- 23:11Speaker 1: he be in the Hamptons. Yep, that's where we recorded
- 23:14Speaker 1: that second album. So we went out to the Hamptons.
- 23:17Speaker 1: That shit was dope and you know, like fraud surf.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So he'll like, wake up, go surfing and then we'll
- 23:23Speaker 1: go you know what I'm saying, record, Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 23:27Speaker 1: So uh yeah, I like everybody's different, you know what
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm saying. But the main thing is we're all friends.
- 23:35Speaker 1: So it's like I like to make music with people
- 23:37Speaker 1: that I know, you know, I like to have personal relationships,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and I think that makes the music better, you know
- 23:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying, when you really like family like that.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But I was gonna say that it felt like the
- 23:48Speaker 1: Larry June album caught a lot of like lists last year.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I had I think That's My Life, yea, my best
- 23:55Speaker 1: album last year. But do you feel like that album
- 23:58Speaker 1: kind of brought a lot more eyes to you and
- 24:00Speaker 1: your movement and what you got going on? Probably, So,
- 24:03Speaker 1: you know, I don't know, because like, yeah, I mean,
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm not one to like I'm a very private person.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I don't really like being in the media too much,
- 24:12Speaker 1: so that one probably you know, Larry's on fire right now.
- 24:16Speaker 1: It's a great bro great fucking album. Thank you. I
- 24:19Speaker 1: appreciate that. You know. That's Sean, you know, from our
- 24:23Speaker 1: group London Drugs, and we put that together. But you know,
- 24:27Speaker 1: me and Larry is like real life brothers. You know
- 24:29Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's like my best friend. So it
- 24:33Speaker 1: was just, you know, we'd been sitting. Some of those
- 24:36Speaker 1: songs are like six years old that we put on there. Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 1: One of the songs, the song with Jim Jones, I
- 24:43Speaker 1: actually did that verse in twenty thirteen and put it
- 24:48Speaker 1: out now, you know what I'm saying. But that's why
- 24:50Speaker 1: nine years later, yeah, ten years later, yeah, you know,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and I just feel like, oh yeah, it came out
- 24:56Speaker 1: last year. Yeah, so I just feel like, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 1: if it's timeless, it's timeless. Like I don't really feel like,
- 25:05Speaker 1: you know what. I still listen to Death Certificate, you know,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I still listen to dog Food, you know, like it
- 25:11Speaker 1: came out yesterday. So they do the same with my shit,
- 25:16Speaker 1: you feel me. I ain't trying to put a year's
- 25:19Speaker 1: stamp on my shit like that. Yeah, for you, I
- 25:23Speaker 1: don't feel like when I remember buying like the Jiz
- 25:26Speaker 1: and Mugs album, I remember that, which was a great album.
- 25:30Speaker 1: But I feel like Mugs doesn't do as much like
- 25:32Speaker 1: full collab projects as people. So I feel like the
- 25:34Speaker 1: fact you got an album with Mugs insane. Oh yeah
- 25:37Speaker 1: that's a big deal. Man, that's so assassin shit Like
- 25:40Speaker 1: that shit's a big deal. Like where did that relationship
- 25:43Speaker 1: stem from? And like, well, I think Mugs probably got
- 25:46Speaker 1: hipped to me from al you know what I'm saying,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and just seeing my shit, and you know, we was
- 25:55Speaker 1: mutual friends through a lot of people, and one day
- 25:59Speaker 1: he was like, yeah, pull up to the studio, let's
- 26:00Speaker 1: make some shit. And we just started it. And you know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I already had in my mind when I go start
- 26:06Speaker 1: something with a producer, especially like a legendary producer like that,
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm trying to get an album done. Bro, Like you've
- 26:13Speaker 1: done a good job of doing that. Yeah. Yeah, I'm
- 26:15Speaker 1: trying to get an album done, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:17Speaker 1: So yeah, uh, that was a great experience. You know,
- 26:24Speaker 1: that's a legend. You know, my first CD I think
- 26:27Speaker 1: I ever bought as a kid was The Predator, you
- 26:31Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So you know, he had a
- 26:34Speaker 1: lot of production on there, and you know, yeah, I
- 26:38Speaker 1: came up on Cyprus and all that shit. So for me,
- 26:40Speaker 1: it's like you're in Mugs's studio and you're looking at
- 26:43Speaker 1: the plaques and you're like looking basically looking at an
- 26:47Speaker 1: old source magazine, and then you're like, this is dope,
- 26:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So that shit was fire.
- 26:53Speaker 1: How high is ice Cube on your like goats list?
- 26:57Speaker 1: That's like the guy you know for sure? To me,
- 27:00Speaker 1: as far as you know those, give me, give me
- 27:04Speaker 1: your like top five, your personal favorite. I can't really
- 27:09Speaker 1: do a top five, man. That ship is really hard
- 27:12Speaker 1: for me to do. Man. But Cube is definitely in there,
- 27:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Most definitely Cube Nas is
- 27:21Speaker 1: in there too. You know, I don't know. I'm gonna
- 27:26Speaker 1: just leave those two ones. Yeah yeah, those two for sure.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Because Illmatic and Death Certificate, those was like okay, yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 1: would you consider Death Certificate his best album? To me? Yeah?
- 27:40Speaker 1: I think so. To me, I feel like I feel
- 27:43Speaker 1: like I feel like it's I feel like it's kind
- 27:45Speaker 1: of the consensus. Yeah. I feel like America's most one
- 27:48Speaker 1: got the five mics. Yeah, yeah, because America's most wanted
- 27:50Speaker 1: is like, but I was a little like just the
- 27:53Speaker 1: style of production for me was like a little still
- 27:56Speaker 1: it was I love it. I go back to it
- 27:59Speaker 1: now and I really got into it. But when I
- 28:00Speaker 1: was like younger, I liked, like, you know, steady mobbing
- 28:04Speaker 1: and ship like that. I was like oh, and then like,
- 28:09Speaker 1: you know, I still love Lethal Injection that album for sure.
- 28:12Speaker 1: He's like crazy. So I just had Mac ten On
- 28:15Speaker 1: and I was like, dude, I've seen was so fire.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I've seen that ship, you know. I was like, oh, ship, Yeah, yeah,
- 28:23Speaker 1: that's that's dope. What is your? Because I always get
- 28:27Speaker 1: into argument. I have like two or three albums that
- 28:29Speaker 1: are always rotating as my greatest album of all time.
- 28:32Speaker 1: It's Ellmatic or it's Doggy Style, usually one or two.
- 28:36Speaker 1: What's your what's your fam? I'm gonna give the old
- 28:39Speaker 1: head answer though, like for me still to this day,
- 28:42Speaker 1: and even though I'm from the West Coast and all
- 28:44Speaker 1: that to me, top the bottom nomadic, yeah, yeah it is. Yeah,
- 28:51Speaker 1: it's Illmatic. I'ma I'm gonna be honest that that one
- 28:54Speaker 1: changed the game. I remember going to the record store
- 28:56Speaker 1: and the dude was in there. It was me and
- 28:58Speaker 1: my relative and he was like nah. We was like no,
- 29:01Speaker 1: you know, nine or ten or something like that. And
- 29:03Speaker 1: he's like, this is that ship? You know what I'm saying.
- 29:06Speaker 1: It was like, oh and never never got older than me.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I still you know what, Nah, that's somebody I haven't met.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I haven't met I haven't met Nas. I haven't met Jay.
- 29:18Speaker 1: But I didn't you know, everybody out here, you know,
- 29:22Speaker 1: I didn't met, but uh, you know, and we're speaking
- 29:26Speaker 1: of the East Coast like dip set, you know, like
- 29:29Speaker 1: that was my ship. So for me and Jim, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: me and Jim got a personal relationship because you know,
- 29:35Speaker 1: Jim was fucking with the homies early on Certified Gangsters.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He was he was in that. He wasn't he in Yeah? Yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 1: he was in the hood early, fucking with folk band
- 29:44Speaker 1: Rest in Peace, fucking with hot Dog and and Whacko.
- 29:48Speaker 1: I just I just randomly saw that video again, like
- 29:50Speaker 1: two weeks ago, I don't know, popped up on my YouTube,
- 29:53Speaker 1: and I was like, damn tribe and that this was
- 29:56Speaker 1: really in content and that wasn't like there wasn't people
- 30:00Speaker 1: like didn't come to the hood like that then, and
- 30:02Speaker 1: like and Jim was banging. So when Jim came out West,
- 30:06Speaker 1: like he was tipping through hoods and like tapping in,
- 30:10Speaker 1: like you know what I'm saying, and you know, really
- 30:12Speaker 1: like similar, like I gotta give it up the walka
- 30:15Speaker 1: flocka too, because like that was around the days when
- 30:18Speaker 1: we would be around Sugar, Like Walker really came out
- 30:20Speaker 1: here and tapped in and when he made flock of Velli,
- 30:23Speaker 1: he went and grabbed the homies and put Waji Hoodie
- 30:26Speaker 1: on brick Squad, put Ice beat put Joe Moses went
- 30:30Speaker 1: and shot hardened the pain in the jungles. You know
- 30:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That was dope, you know what I mean.
- 30:35Speaker 1: It's kind of like it's wild to really think that
- 30:39Speaker 1: like a lot of the like you know, because back
- 30:43Speaker 1: in the nineties, you know, the crips had more of
- 30:48Speaker 1: the right, right, they were the more popular. Like if
- 30:50Speaker 1: you think about like, yeah, shoot dog Man, that's all
- 30:54Speaker 1: really got another the biggest rapper in the world to
- 30:55Speaker 1: Snoop and the Homies, it's like, to be honest, like
- 30:59Speaker 1: Jim Jones and like little Wayne kind of brought I
- 31:03Speaker 1: feel like to it even though it wasn't from yeah,
- 31:09Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, it was like Gayne
- 31:12Speaker 1: game for sure too. But yeah, you know Wayne and Jim,
- 31:16Speaker 1: like you know, they was they was they was putting
- 31:20Speaker 1: on man. But yeah, shout outs the gym. That's the
- 31:22Speaker 1: big bro. You know that when I'm in New York.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I lived in New York for like two years. I
- 31:27Speaker 1: lived in Harlem, so they got that's like New York
- 31:30Speaker 1: really liked my second home. They they loved me out there.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I just did a show with Rock Sold It out
- 31:36Speaker 1: in Brooklyn and like, I was like, damn, it was
- 31:40Speaker 1: really like giving it up. Lord Jamar came up to
- 31:43Speaker 1: me and he was like, I don't know you. I
- 31:46Speaker 1: never nothing, but I watched your set and that ship
- 31:49Speaker 1: was dope. You know what I'm saying. I was like
- 31:52Speaker 1: them the type of flowers I need, you know, the
- 31:54Speaker 1: ones you want. I'm the ones I want. You feel me. Hey,

- 33:58Speaker 1: back to the interview. So the Rockmartcia album. You were
- 34:00Speaker 1: just telling me some of the features off the air.
- 34:03Speaker 1: You got some crazy features. Man big dogs, Man big dogs.
- 34:07Speaker 1: So you know what I'm saying, Uh, yeah, legends. You
- 34:11Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. That rock hit me last night
- 34:13Speaker 1: and he was like, Yo, He's like this shit, feel
- 34:16Speaker 1: like we were making the chronic Damn. I said, if
- 34:20Speaker 1: you feel like that, then I know we got some shit.
- 34:23Speaker 1: But man, it's been a pleasure to work with Rock
- 34:26Speaker 1: and it's been cool to showcase him because everybody know
- 34:30Speaker 1: he the hardest and rapping, No, he can rap his
- 34:32Speaker 1: ass off, but he's also an amazing producer that part,
- 34:35Speaker 1: you know. So what he's doing for me is he's
- 34:37Speaker 1: producing the album. He's rapping on it too, but not
- 34:40Speaker 1: you know, maybe just one joint, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So I want to leave some of the some of
- 34:45Speaker 1: the uh features. Yeah, well you told me a lot
- 34:49Speaker 1: of them and they're pretty crazy. Yeah, but I'll tell
- 34:51Speaker 1: you this though, we got we got bun on there.
- 34:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I'm going out to I
- 34:56Speaker 1: got to show in Austin April fourth, and then I
- 35:00Speaker 1: shootout to Houston negotiate to the video. Yeah, uh for you,
- 35:05Speaker 1: because it is kind of crazy to think like, I
- 35:09Speaker 1: don't think there's been another artist that has really like
- 35:13Speaker 1: obviously shout to Freddy Freddy's and stuff with math Lib
- 35:16Speaker 1: and and now I feel like you've done such a
- 35:20Speaker 1: good job though if you go all the way back,
- 35:22Speaker 1: because the London drug shit is is you and a producer, right,
- 35:25Speaker 1: me and a producer, right, and so you've been doing
- 35:28Speaker 1: that consistently for so long. It's kind of like your
- 35:31Speaker 1: business model at this wint it is and I'm not
- 35:33Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say that I kicked it off or nothing,
- 35:37Speaker 1: because you know, of course, I mean Wu Tang Look man,
- 35:41Speaker 1: they what that was all Risen Gangstar Mob Deep Mob.
- 35:45Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I mean, I mean it
- 35:47Speaker 1: was like it was like having a Gangstar, but Gangstar
- 35:50Speaker 1: was all proud of I mean all Premiere and Premiere
- 35:53Speaker 1: actually gave me a shout out recently, which that meant
- 35:56Speaker 1: a lot to me, you know what I'm saying. On
- 35:58Speaker 1: the mug ship. So also not all tank sit right there?
- 36:01Speaker 1: First album? Who was the first album? I think? I
- 36:04Speaker 1: think The Chambers was, but we take forever it was mathematics,
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah right right, So but yeah, I mean
- 36:11Speaker 1: I've done that. I mean, I like to create. I
- 36:15Speaker 1: like to create a sound, you know what I'm saying.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I feel like Fantasy Island with Al that had a sound,
- 36:22Speaker 1: Active with Sean that had a sound, the Cardo, the
- 36:26Speaker 1: g Worthy Project that had a sound like you know,
- 36:31Speaker 1: it's cool to do that, but I think what will
- 36:33Speaker 1: be interesting is when I really put out my first
- 36:36Speaker 1: debut solo and it's different producer Zelda. Yeah, and it's
- 36:40Speaker 1: different producers because like you're bringing all the worlds together. Man,
- 36:43Speaker 1: I got so many EPs that I started and didn't finish,
- 36:47Speaker 1: like me and Jake One got some ship. Oh I
- 36:50Speaker 1: loved white band music. Man. I even got some ship
- 36:52Speaker 1: with that Thundercat produced for me that I ain't even like.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah, like I'm trying
- 36:59Speaker 1: to like show people some other ship. When I dropped
- 37:02Speaker 1: my solo album, like here this is jayworthys uh yeah,
- 37:07Speaker 1: this is his studio album. Is that what they used
- 37:10Speaker 1: to call it? This studio album? Yeah? Yeah, this is
- 37:13Speaker 1: my label album. Right now, we're still just warming up
- 37:16Speaker 1: and getting the fun shit done. Would you and pre
- 37:19Speaker 1: Co do another g Worthy? I would love to. Yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 1: he's his output since he got He's bro. He always
- 37:27Speaker 1: put the energizer charging my back because when he would
- 37:31Speaker 1: be like, man, what you doing man? Drop drop like
- 37:35Speaker 1: his model's crazy and he's he's turning up right now.
- 37:38Speaker 1: He's turning up his tours looking amazing. He's on like, yeah,
- 37:44Speaker 1: he's on double time right now. I gotta catch up.
- 37:47Speaker 1: I gotta definitely do it. We need to. We need
- 37:49Speaker 1: to do g Worthy to you know, it's just Cardos busy.
- 37:55Speaker 1: He's busy. I'm busy. And the way g works is
- 37:59Speaker 1: a lot different than me. Like I've me and Larry
- 38:02Speaker 1: worked very similar, like send me the shit and I
- 38:04Speaker 1: get it done, you know what I mean. I'll just
- 38:06Speaker 1: being there with Sean or my engineer and I knock
- 38:09Speaker 1: it out. But the way ge Worthy was made, it
- 38:12Speaker 1: was made in one day and we had everybody in
- 38:15Speaker 1: the studio a live cookup. It was a live cook
- 38:18Speaker 1: up in the end. And there's something to be said
- 38:20Speaker 1: about that because if you look at the classics like
- 38:22Speaker 1: Chronic and Doggy Style, you know they was at Dre
- 38:26Speaker 1: House and they was knocking out all together as a unit,
- 38:29Speaker 1: and you know, music comes out fun like that. So
- 38:32Speaker 1: I gotta you know, I think we gotta get into
- 38:35Speaker 1: all together in one room for that to happen again.
- 38:37Speaker 1: But it happened one day, would you and uh, well,
- 38:41Speaker 1: with all the success and the love you got for
- 38:43Speaker 1: the al Malarry you guts, Oh yeah, that's forever. That's
- 38:47Speaker 1: for life. Man. Two pie's in a pot is like
- 38:50Speaker 1: a group, you know, what I'm saying, Like and if
- 38:52Speaker 1: you see like you know, they just dropped the track
- 38:55Speaker 1: listing for him and the ALS project. I'm on that.
- 38:58Speaker 1: You know, he was just on my last project with Harry.
- 39:02Speaker 1: We we keep h we keep it, we keep each
- 39:05Speaker 1: other going. You know what I'm saying. It's the brand
- 39:09Speaker 1: at this point. You know what I'm saying. So the
- 39:11Speaker 1: tours come in, make sure you go get tickets. Go
- 39:14Speaker 1: get those tickets. Rock Marsie album on the Way, Rock
- 39:18Speaker 1: Marsy album on the motherfucking way, Camaya collab projects, Harry
- 39:23Speaker 1: Froug so much this year and Dame Funk. If y'all

- 39:32Speaker 1: pulling up. We had to finally make it happen. But man,
