- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to normally the show with normalist takes,
- 0:11Speaker 1: but when your news gets weird. I'm Carol Markowitz. Mary
- 0:14Speaker 1: Catherine ham Is on vacation, and my guest co host
- 0:17Speaker 1: today is Tim Young. Tim is a Heritage Media fellow
- 0:20Speaker 1: Dallas Express Media editor, a comedian, a host, a speaker,
- 0:24Speaker 1: an author, and he has this excellent X account. Tim
- 0:27Speaker 1: runs his mouth because he really does. Hi, Tim, so
- 0:30Speaker 1: nice to have you on.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Thanks for having me here. It's very exciting. You know,
- 0:34Speaker 2: I'm not quite Mary Catherine Hamm, but I'll do my best.
- 0:36Speaker 1: You're not. Nobody is, but you know I had full
- 0:40Speaker 1: faith in you and that's why I asked you to
- 0:42Speaker 1: be on today. We're going to cover some news today.
- 0:44Speaker 1: We're going to start with the midterms. As we're recording this,
- 0:49Speaker 1: the day of this airing will be August eleventh, and
- 0:52Speaker 1: there'll be a few interesting races coming up, including in
- 0:56Speaker 1: the Minnesota Senate where Angie Craig, who's you know, they
- 0:59Speaker 1: say moderate House Democrat whatever, is facing Peggy Flanagan, who
- 1:04Speaker 1: is a progressive for the Democratic nomination to replace retiring
- 1:08Speaker 1: Senator Tina Smith. Also in that part of the world,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Francesca Hong is running in a four way Democratic contest
- 1:16Speaker 1: against Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for governor, and she's
- 1:21Speaker 1: been kind of all over the news. She's been all
- 1:23Speaker 1: the air in the room, really, and it's just where
- 1:27Speaker 1: the Democrats are headed, right, They're they're having their very
- 1:30Speaker 1: communist moment.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, these are these are really weird, kind of youngish
- 1:35Speaker 2: looking candidates to I do give them credit for putting
- 1:37Speaker 2: up younger looking people and more theater kids than than
- 1:41Speaker 2: the Republicans. You know, I'd like to see younger faces
- 1:44Speaker 2: from the Republican side that aren't crazy, obviously, right, But
- 1:48Speaker 2: Hong and the Democrats are really it's really interesting. You know,
- 1:50Speaker 2: I've never heard of a candidate that wants to ban Thanksgiving.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I actually fully called this in twenty twenty, which wasn't
- 1:57Speaker 1: an impossible thing to do. That Thanksgiving was going to
- 2:01Speaker 1: have to be on the chopping block in the next
- 2:02Speaker 1: few years, because that's where they were going, right. I Mean,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we'll get into it in the next segment. But when
- 2:07Speaker 1: AOC's talking about Wok one was crazy, that's what Wok
- 2:11Speaker 1: one was. They were heading in the direction of we
- 2:14Speaker 1: really can't have holidays like Thanksgiving.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but again, and I don't want to jump into
- 2:18Speaker 2: the next topic, but it's sort of like, look at
- 2:20Speaker 2: the left hand, and the right hand's going to keep
- 2:22Speaker 2: doing the same thing it's been doing the entire time.
- 2:25Speaker 2: When you take a look at what Abigail Spamberger did
- 2:27Speaker 2: the moment, literally the moment. They didn't even take a
- 2:29Speaker 2: break after she got elected in Virginia. They pretend to
- 2:32Speaker 2: be moderate, they lie to your face about what they'll
- 2:34Speaker 2: do policy wise, and as soon as Democrats get in,
- 2:36Speaker 2: they will do everything they can do to go as
- 2:38Speaker 2: far left as possible and then maintain that power for
- 2:41Speaker 2: as long as possible.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Right. And I think that the fact that they're running these,
- 2:46Speaker 1: like you said, photogenic young people, it's very smart, obviously,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but it's baffling to me that the Democratic Party is
- 2:53Speaker 1: allowing this to go on. These people are openly saying
- 2:56Speaker 1: we're going to overthrow the Democratic Party. It won't exist anymore.
- 2:59Speaker 1: It'll be the DSA. And that seems to be okay, because, oh,
- 3:03Speaker 1: these people have the energy and we need to lean
- 3:05Speaker 1: into that.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Well, when you're looking at a party that I believe
- 3:09Speaker 2: is still seventeen million dollars in the whole or something
- 3:11Speaker 2: like that. Right now, they don't have much choice. Maybe
- 3:14Speaker 2: they can't afford like real consultants or real campaigns anymore.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So they're they're dealing with theater kids who lived at
- 3:20Speaker 2: home and never had to work a day in their lives.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's that's what they've been reduced to due to a
- 3:23Speaker 2: lack of budget.
- 3:25Speaker 1: But like Chuck Schumer's been around the block. He knows
- 3:27Speaker 1: what's going on here. How does he not care?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Okay, that's a tough one. You know, maybe it's how
- 3:35Speaker 2: old is he now?
- 3:36Speaker 1: Eight hundred and five?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, old? And maybe he just doesn't care anymore.
- 3:42Speaker 2: You take a look at these guys, at some point,
- 3:44Speaker 2: it probably just becomes I mean, not that politics isn't
- 3:46Speaker 2: already a selfish game. You know, God blessed the few
- 3:48Speaker 2: people who are altruistic, but at some point, maybe they
- 3:51Speaker 2: just stop caring and that you know, he's he's farting
- 3:54Speaker 2: on the floor of the Senate now. He literally is
- 3:57Speaker 2: just kind of you know, he's not recognized and people
- 4:00Speaker 2: boo him when he goes out in New York. I
- 4:02Speaker 2: think he's just going along to get along. And at
- 4:06Speaker 2: some point, you know, this has been your career for
- 4:08Speaker 2: forty years, fifty years, you just stop caring.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe maybe that's it, or maybe he's been a
- 4:15Speaker 1: communist all along also, and his you know, kind of
- 4:19Speaker 1: covered it up a little bit. But he's had moments
- 4:21Speaker 1: where he said things that I considered far far left,
- 4:25Speaker 1: like where he said every single illegal immigrant needs a
- 4:27Speaker 1: path citizenship. I mean that was a few just a
- 4:29Speaker 1: few years ago. So he's not like, it's not like
- 4:33Speaker 1: they're moderates, right, they were always leftists, but like this
- 4:37Speaker 1: new leftism is going to overtake them and get rid
- 4:40Speaker 1: of them completely. And I don't know how they're standing
- 4:42Speaker 1: for it.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Is that communist to give everybody a path to citizenship
- 4:47Speaker 2: acrosses the border or is that them just wanting to
- 4:49Speaker 2: have the last large potential voting block lockdown for themselves.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I mean both, yeah, yeah, yeah, Well, if you need
- 4:59Speaker 3: to have this new base of people who are voting
- 5:03Speaker 3: for you and also paying into all your programs because
- 5:06Speaker 3: your people aren't having kids, it's.
- 5:10Speaker 1: You know, it's a little bit from column An, a
- 5:11Speaker 1: little bit from columb.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, just a touch of ever, just a sprinkle of everything.
- 5:16Speaker 2: No big deal.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Well, what's your prediction, what do you think happens in
- 5:19Speaker 1: the midterms. Do Republicans hold anything right now? I think
- 5:24Speaker 1: the polling has the House as a Democratic flip and
- 5:28Speaker 1: the Senate as a Republican hold. Do you think that's
- 5:30Speaker 1: how it shakes out.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I think Republicans win everything in spite of themselves. You know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: they can't pass to say that. Yeah, I think they
- 5:38Speaker 2: stumble into it. I think it's going to be a
- 5:40Speaker 2: small margin again, but I think it's a stumble into it.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And I have a couple of friends who run these
- 5:46Speaker 2: kind of like wargames politically to see what's going to happen.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And by friends, I mean large organizations. They work for
- 5:52Speaker 2: these big works. And the way it's shaken out right now,
- 5:56Speaker 2: it's literally Republicans win in spite of themselves. I really
- 6:00Speaker 2: do not look forward to the headache that we get
- 6:02Speaker 2: in the House if Democrats take it. But I think
- 6:06Speaker 2: it's going to be a narrow one and Republicans taken it.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And it's because of these extreme candidates that are moving forward.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Interesting, okay, because I'm bracing for the worst possible scenario.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's what the thing is is that Trump's approval is
- 6:20Speaker 1: so hard to nail down. He has right now. You know,
- 6:23Speaker 1: the headlines are all saying the lowest approval ever. But
- 6:27Speaker 1: the thing about Trump is that I don't trust any
- 6:30Speaker 1: numbers when it comes to him specifically. I'm you know,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm not a polling denier or whatever we're called these days,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but Trump just never polls correctly. People won't admit to
- 6:41Speaker 1: a polster on the phone that they support Donald Trump,
- 6:43Speaker 1: and that's been the case the entire time he's been around.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So I don't know what to think when these polls
- 6:50Speaker 1: have him at thirty five percent approval sixty two percent disapproval.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Maybe maybe that's possible, but I'm just not sure.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think that Trump matters as much
- 7:01Speaker 2: when you take a look at how hated Congress is.
- 7:03Speaker 2: What's what's Congress's current approval rating. It usually floats around twelve, right,
- 7:07Speaker 2: It's like really low. But yet the locally, the same
- 7:11Speaker 2: people keep getting re elected. So ultimately, I don't think
- 7:14Speaker 2: Trump's approval means anything. Maybe a little bit, But as
- 7:18Speaker 2: far as these local races go, and being a midterm election,
- 7:21Speaker 2: it's all up to the candidates and who's door knocking
- 7:23Speaker 2: enough and getting out in the in the public.
- 7:26Speaker 1: The ground game. You say, yeah, that sounds right. I
- 7:30Speaker 1: didn't expect optimism from you, but I like to see it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I don't have optimism. I think this is I think.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Republicans keeping the house in Senate is pretty optimistic.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But I'm at the same time saying they suck. They
- 7:43Speaker 2: like they're not they deserve to win. They yeah, I mean,
- 7:47Speaker 2: we're not communists. They don't deserve to win, but they're
- 7:50Speaker 2: gonna stumble to a victory. It's like one of those
- 7:52Speaker 2: things you go, oh, they'll learn nothing from this. It's
- 7:55Speaker 2: it's sort of like all of the consultant class and
- 7:58Speaker 2: all of the Republicans who took credit for Trump winning
- 8:01Speaker 2: the first time. It's like, you guys did nothing like
- 8:03Speaker 2: this guy like came in and he was just so
- 8:05Speaker 2: different that he got a populist movement behind him in
- 8:08Speaker 2: one This is one of those like, I don't know,
- 8:13Speaker 2: not to be repetitive here. They just don't deserve it,
- 8:16Speaker 2: but they're going to do it.
- 8:18Speaker 1: You know, I hear you, And yet I still fear
- 8:23Speaker 1: this communist future and whatever. Like a squishy Republican who
- 8:28Speaker 1: sucks is still a million times better than you know,
- 8:32Speaker 1: a Hong who wants no Thanksgiving and no police and
- 8:36Speaker 1: no prisons and all the rest of the stuff that
- 8:38Speaker 1: comes with their insane platform. And so if it's going
- 8:42Speaker 1: to have to be Republicans who suck, that's who it is.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's where we are, which is not a
- 8:48Speaker 2: good place to be.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Well, we're going to take a short break and come
- 8:51Speaker 1: right back with another segment of Normally, where we will
- 8:54Speaker 1: get into all the crazy things these people believe.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Be right back.
- 9:02Speaker 1: We are back on Normally, where Tim Young is guest
- 9:06Speaker 1: co hosting for Mary Catherine Ham who's on vacation. And
- 9:09Speaker 1: Tim is doing a great job right now. I hope
- 9:11Speaker 1: you're all enjoying his amazing insights. I am so.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I can't believe you have the podcast IP normally. I
- 9:21Speaker 2: don't know how did you get that?
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't even know what an IP podcast.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Intellectual property having a podcast called normally, that's wild to me.
- 9:33Speaker 2: When I go to name something, I have to have
- 9:34Speaker 2: eighty five names. My attorneys are like, you now now
- 9:37Speaker 2: that the first seven seven words of that have ever
- 9:40Speaker 2: already been used by eighty five different products, So you
- 9:42Speaker 2: got it. That's awesome.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It's funny because we tried for some other variations on normal,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and they were unavailable but held by people who barely
- 9:52Speaker 1: use it, and that really frustrates me.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Now, if your name was Ali, see, that would be
- 9:56Speaker 2: like a whole thing there. You could be Norman Ali Nale.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Right, an ally of an ally of the norm?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Is that what it is?
- 10:05Speaker 1: No, it's not, but it could be, right, it should.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Be, because you really aren't, like as as far as
- 10:11Speaker 2: all these I'm just I'm just gonna go ahead and
- 10:12Speaker 2: take every podcast for a second, as far as all
- 10:15Speaker 2: these other crazy people out there, you really are an
- 10:16Speaker 2: ally of the norm and a very logical saying and
- 10:20Speaker 2: intelligent person. It makes a lot of sense.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Thank you, Thank you. That's what we go for here
- 10:24Speaker 1: on Normally. We try to be normal people, doing normal
- 10:27Speaker 1: things and saying normal things and believing normal things and
- 10:30Speaker 1: pointing out when things are abnormal. Yeah, so what's abnormal?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Francesca Hong has old tweets calling for abolishing prisons and
- 10:39Speaker 1: the police, and apparently we shouldn't be concerned with any
- 10:43Speaker 1: of that because look, it was a crazy time, a crazy,
- 10:48Speaker 1: crazy time. Here's AOC on this week defending this standing.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Is that is that Francesca Hong has made clear her
- 10:59Speaker 2: presence dances.
- 11:00Speaker 1: To her life.
- 11:01Speaker 2: She's moved away from right.
- 11:03Speaker 1: She's moved away from it. And I have a local
- 11:06Speaker 1: city councilman that has this saying woke one was crazy, crazy.
- 11:14Speaker 1: She wants to move away from whatever the insane stuff
- 11:18Speaker 1: was from twenty twenty and it was insane and they
- 11:21Speaker 1: said so many crazy things and they did so many
- 11:23Speaker 1: crazy things, and now this like, haha, we were just
- 11:26Speaker 1: kind of kidding about it. I don't buy it. First
- 11:29Speaker 1: of all, I think that they're just trying to win
- 11:31Speaker 1: an election. They haven't moved away from anything. But second,
- 11:36Speaker 1: imagine having a media where they were asked like, what
- 11:40Speaker 1: specifically do you not believe anymore? What specifically are you
- 11:44Speaker 1: sorry for saying and believing and pushing on the rest
- 11:47Speaker 1: of us. But obviously, Tim, we don't have that kind
- 11:50Speaker 1: of media.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, also, they haven't changed any opinions whatsoever. They're
- 11:54Speaker 2: just trying to label it differently. And at least now
- 11:56Speaker 2: she's saying that woke was a thing because for a
- 11:59Speaker 2: while and I don't check this using AI she claimed
- 12:02Speaker 2: for a long time AOC that the term woke was
- 12:06Speaker 2: created by the right, and then it was used to
- 12:08Speaker 2: weaponize and make the left look bad. So at least
- 12:12Speaker 2: she's saying that woke is real this time. But there
- 12:14Speaker 2: is nothing accurate about these people. Again, this is Abigail Spamberger.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You got to take a look at what happened in Virginia.
- 12:20Speaker 2: They are literally going to lie to you. They're going
- 12:23Speaker 2: to say that this isn't their ideas, this isn't what
- 12:25Speaker 2: they want to stand for, and then they'll go right
- 12:26Speaker 2: into office and do exactly what they just lied about.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Right, So, Mary Katherine Ham is from Virginia. We've covered
- 12:32Speaker 1: Abigail Spamberger lying her way into office a lot on here,
- 12:36Speaker 1: pretending to be a moderate and running as a moderate
- 12:40Speaker 1: but actually governing as a leftist. AOC and CO can't
- 12:45Speaker 1: really do that. They can't run as moderates. They can
- 12:48Speaker 1: only walk back their most fringy positions, and I don't
- 12:51Speaker 1: really think they have. Again, if we had a media
- 12:53Speaker 1: that asked questions, we could ask what do you think
- 12:56Speaker 1: of biological boys and girls' sports? What do you think
- 12:58Speaker 1: of Christopher Columbus statute is? What do you think of
- 13:00Speaker 1: all the things that we were forced to say were
- 13:03Speaker 1: bad in the early twenty twenties. I mean, not we
- 13:06Speaker 1: me and you, but we larger people who had to
- 13:10Speaker 1: put black squares on their social media and did really
- 13:13Speaker 1: insane stuff like that. What about all that? What about
- 13:17Speaker 1: all the things that you made people walk the line
- 13:20Speaker 1: and believe? What about cancel culture? That apparently cancel culture
- 13:24Speaker 1: is something that they no longer believe in or they
- 13:26Speaker 1: actually kind of portray it as something we did, something
- 13:29Speaker 1: that the right foisted on them, and it's not exactly
- 13:32Speaker 1: how I remember it.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, I mean they also tried to put forward
- 13:36Speaker 2: these like very white, like masculine looking guys like Grand
- 13:40Speaker 2: Platner that we learned to know too much about actual Nazis.
- 13:43Speaker 2: They were like, hey, oh, our electorate to love that.
- 13:47Speaker 2: You know, I blame in all of this. You make
- 13:50Speaker 2: a very good point about the media not pushing back.
- 13:54Speaker 2: What has the right done when you have all these
- 13:56Speaker 2: large organizations? Hope, boy, you're going to get myself in trouble,
- 14:00Speaker 2: These large organizations that are out there that collect millions
- 14:03Speaker 2: of dollars to change our culture, and everything has shifted
- 14:07Speaker 2: left with basically nothing moving right other than what Trump
- 14:11Speaker 2: has done just kind of like on his own really
- 14:14Speaker 2: with his team. You take a look at all the
- 14:17Speaker 2: money that's getting sunk in by donors in these organizations
- 14:20Speaker 2: and all these people who are supposed to be moving
- 14:22Speaker 2: the needle back, and nothing has moved back to the
- 14:25Speaker 2: right except when the left pretends they're that they are.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And so for me watching this cultural shift, we're not
- 14:32Speaker 2: looking at the fifty thousand foot And I know you're
- 14:34Speaker 2: because you're an ally of the norm. You take a
- 14:38Speaker 2: look at this and you can kind of see it
- 14:40Speaker 2: for the bigger picture. I don't think a lot of
- 14:41Speaker 2: people are realizing how much money and how much grift.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And when we say grift, I'm not talking about individuals
- 14:46Speaker 2: who are, like you know, spreading conspiracy theories on our
- 14:49Speaker 2: side and doing things. I'm talking about grift of organizations
- 14:53Speaker 2: that claim that they've been moving this needle with million
- 14:56Speaker 2: dollar paid CEOs that are doing nothing and have done
- 15:00Speaker 2: nothing except collect money and do a little a dance
- 15:04Speaker 2: for donors for years. The right. Again, like I said earlier,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I think we win the house back in spite of ourselves.
- 15:14Speaker 2: But it's a big in spite of ourselves, because there's
- 15:17Speaker 2: so much money just going to nowhere and just funding
- 15:21Speaker 2: like lavish lifestyles of small people who haven't shifted out
- 15:25Speaker 2: and still claimed victory when they have nothing to do
- 15:27Speaker 2: with victories. And we're losing the culture in a large
- 15:31Speaker 2: part because of the faith that's being put in and
- 15:34Speaker 2: the money that's being put in the wrong direction.
- 15:37Speaker 1: So I agree with you on a lot of that,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but I feel like we have had some wins. I
- 15:42Speaker 1: think that there are some amazing groups doing excellent things.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Like a lot of the trand stuff has been beaten back.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And not that long ago you had to use these
- 15:54Speaker 1: preferred pronouns, and again not conservative movement people, we didn't
- 15:59Speaker 1: have to, but the larger segment of the population was
- 16:02Speaker 1: forced into believing something that could not possibly be true,
- 16:06Speaker 1: that you can change your gender and you could become,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you know, a boy if you're actually a girl, or
- 16:11Speaker 1: vice versa, and a lot of that has now been
- 16:14Speaker 1: beaten back. Another thing is I'm on board of defending education,
- 16:18Speaker 1: this group that I think is just excellent, and I
- 16:21Speaker 1: think Nicky Neely just does phenomenal work suing school districts
- 16:26Speaker 1: and doing all this kind of stuff that I think
- 16:28Speaker 1: we as a conservative movement want. So there are groups.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I don't want to be the
- 16:34Speaker 1: optimist here, because I don't feel that optimistic right now.
- 16:37Speaker 1: But there's some movement on the right culturally. It's we
- 16:42Speaker 1: let things go so bad for so long that it's
- 16:45Speaker 1: not going to be an overnight shift.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I like defending it too. I got Sarah partial Perry
- 16:50Speaker 2: over there's phenomenal. She's an incredible attorney that works over there.
- 16:54Speaker 2: But now look the trans stuff and the keeping men
- 16:58Speaker 2: out of women's sports. That ends once we lose the
- 17:01Speaker 2: White House, or if we lose the White House, that
- 17:03Speaker 2: ends a meeting, even though it's a issue. Yeah, it
- 17:07Speaker 2: doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. I mean, look, neither side
- 17:10Speaker 2: cares about eighty twenty issues, or else we'd have a
- 17:12Speaker 2: Save America Act past. But no, this is one of
- 17:16Speaker 2: those things. When Trump won the White House back or
- 17:21Speaker 2: the culture shifted just because they knew that the I
- 17:23Speaker 2: think the money was out there when you take a
- 17:24Speaker 2: look at Hollywood and music and things like that, and
- 17:27Speaker 2: they wanted to capture that conservative audience where they could
- 17:31Speaker 2: we'll flip back extreme left, if not farther left once
- 17:34Speaker 2: the White House is gone.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I hear you also that the fact
- 17:38Speaker 1: that they don't care when something is an eighty twenty
- 17:40Speaker 1: issue is a wild problem because how are you running
- 17:44Speaker 1: on things that are not popular and yet and winning anyway? Right,
- 17:48Speaker 1: it just doesn't matter that much.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, no, the left again, don't There are stop gaps
- 17:56Speaker 2: in place for right now, but best believe like executive
- 18:00Speaker 2: orders and things. I mean, and yes, there have been
- 18:02Speaker 2: some ships in school boards and things like that, but
- 18:04Speaker 2: there's so much that you know, defending ed can't do
- 18:08Speaker 2: it all. That's the problem, and you have to take
- 18:11Speaker 2: the bigger stuff. There's a lot of local stuff that's
- 18:13Speaker 2: been lost along the way, and just there's so much
- 18:17Speaker 2: like misinformation from the left because they still control all
- 18:19Speaker 2: of the local media too. I mean, we aren't seeing
- 18:22Speaker 2: the bigger picture here and we aren't expanding at the
- 18:25Speaker 2: rate that needs to happen to fix the problems in
- 18:28Speaker 2: the country. And it's scary and it should be Sorry
- 18:30Speaker 2: I started positive, you know it positive way, No, this
- 18:35Speaker 2: is like the reality of the situation is I'm taking
- 18:37Speaker 2: a look at everything that's happening, and you know now
- 18:39Speaker 2: and I'm becoming an old guy in politics, like nothing's fixed.
- 18:43Speaker 2: I once sat down with what's the name of I'm
- 18:46Speaker 2: not even gonna try to remember somebody's name. But I
- 18:49Speaker 2: sat down. I was the director of marketing for Seapack
- 18:51Speaker 2: and every year they say, you know, Seapack's audience grows
- 18:53Speaker 2: and grows growth, and I forget. Oh, it's the head
- 18:57Speaker 2: of the Leadership Institute. What's his name? I was for
- 18:59Speaker 2: his name? Shame on me.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Great, well that also he is a good guy.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Yeah, been around forever. And I sat down and I
- 19:06Speaker 2: told him, you know, all the numbers are up this year,
- 19:07Speaker 2: and he goes, yeah, you know, if they told the
- 19:09Speaker 2: true numbers every year and they grew like they did,
- 19:11Speaker 2: the entire world would be covered in conservatives. But here
- 19:13Speaker 2: we are.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Wow that ye yeah yeah, and I laugh.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And that was you know, you know, twelve years ago,
- 19:24Speaker 2: eleven years ago, when it was the director of marketing
- 19:26Speaker 2: at SEAPEC. Yeah, And I look at it now and
- 19:29Speaker 2: I look back and I go, yeah, yeah, no, that's
- 19:31Speaker 2: where this has been. It is like, you know, we
- 19:33Speaker 2: do this dance for donors and we don't like actually
- 19:37Speaker 2: dig in into the work. And that's why, by the way,
- 19:38Speaker 2: Defending Again is a newer organization. We wouldn't need a
- 19:42Speaker 2: Defending ed if the other organizations set up been around forever,
- 19:45Speaker 2: had done their job.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, But then you look at the left and they
- 19:49Speaker 1: have like a Hassan Piker that they're all going to
- 19:52Speaker 1: try to be on his show for the twenty twenty
- 19:55Speaker 1: eight race. Every presidential candidate on the Democratic side is
- 19:58Speaker 1: going to try to get on Hassan Piker show. And
- 20:00Speaker 1: yet he says things like the US deserved nine to eleven.
- 20:03Speaker 1: He talks about, you know, bringing in more immigrants to
- 20:08Speaker 1: take white girls and all of this really crazy crazy stuff.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And then you have we're going to play a clip
- 20:15Speaker 1: of Abdul al said saying that this is all out
- 20:18Speaker 1: of context.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Ana gotcha to sit here and play gotcha politics with
- 20:22Speaker 4: a dumb thing somebody said out of context that they
- 20:24Speaker 4: just allowed themselves to say, Oh, well, what does that
- 20:27Speaker 4: mean about what you think? I want to be held
- 20:28Speaker 4: accountable for what I say and what I do, rather
- 20:31Speaker 4: than this idea that we were so stuck in cancel
- 20:34Speaker 4: culture that all of us agreed was a bad idea
- 20:36Speaker 4: back in twenty twenty, but we seem to want to
- 20:38Speaker 4: bring back.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Did all of us agree on that? I don't remember
- 20:40Speaker 1: them agreeing on that. I remember them calling it consequence culture.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I remember them absolutely canceling people for things that their
- 20:47Speaker 1: friend or colleague or whatever said because they didn't condemn
- 20:51Speaker 1: that enough. And so I hear you when you're like
- 20:55Speaker 1: down on the right. God, I have a long list
- 20:57Speaker 1: of things that I wish the right did differently or
- 21:00Speaker 1: better or effectively. But like, this is what we're up against.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Liars and people who, by the way, if I said
- 21:07Speaker 2: anything in this in the reverse of what Hassan Piker says,
- 21:11Speaker 2: like even in the remote ballpark, our side would turn
- 21:15Speaker 2: on me immediately and I'd be blackbald everywhere.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Right, it doesn't think pieces about how we need to
- 21:21Speaker 1: get rid of Tim Young and never hear from him again.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And and they that is the scariest part
- 21:27Speaker 2: of the left right now, is that how much he
- 21:29Speaker 2: talks about literally killing his political opponents and people who
- 21:33Speaker 2: don't agree with him. You know, I don't know where
- 21:38Speaker 2: this goes. I like people have to realize that they're
- 21:42Speaker 2: being lied to on the left. And I think there
- 21:43Speaker 2: are a lot of sane Democrats if you take a
- 21:46Speaker 2: look at that primary that abdull whatever was it? Al Yeah, yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 2: I'm just so I'm so over it at this point,
- 21:53Speaker 2: Like they're all the same. He barely edged out in
- 21:57Speaker 2: the primary there, and that that gives me hope that
- 22:00Speaker 2: there is you know, hundreds of thousands of people, maybe
- 22:02Speaker 2: millions of people in this country or on the left,
- 22:05Speaker 2: that still have their head screwed on straight. This is
- 22:11Speaker 2: it's concerning, and like you know, and again like when
- 22:15Speaker 2: I take a look at the bigger picture, and not
- 22:16Speaker 2: to keep beating a strum, but like I look at
- 22:17Speaker 2: the bigger picture, and like we're up against there aren't
- 22:21Speaker 2: many hills left to die on in our country. You know,
- 22:25Speaker 2: we did narrowly avoid having the government take our children away,
- 22:30Speaker 2: but California hasn't. But this is what do we need
- 22:37Speaker 2: to do to wake everybody up? And I just hope
- 22:41Speaker 2: And again, like I said, like local media is coming
- 22:43Speaker 2: into play here because they're also run by leftists, and
- 22:45Speaker 2: we're asleep at the wheel. It's sort of like how
- 22:47Speaker 2: we kind of rush limbaughs at this back in the day.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Was you know, we're at sleep at the wheel with
- 22:51Speaker 2: like local schools there we are. Yeah, yeah, this is
- 22:57Speaker 2: just getting people to ask questions, getting people to push back.
- 23:03Speaker 2: It's just not there, and I want it to be
- 23:06Speaker 2: there more than what it is. And I just hope
- 23:09Speaker 2: again that people are awake enough and they see this
- 23:12Speaker 2: and that there are enough common sense Democrats out there.
- 23:14Speaker 2: But sorry, I'm kind of like an a spiral here
- 23:16Speaker 2: of thoughts because it's what's on. It's a bad scary place.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I'm just like, I'm just looking at it. It's a
- 23:22Speaker 2: bad scary place, and nobody's coming to save us. It's
- 23:25Speaker 2: gonna be up to your listeners. It's gonna be up
- 23:27Speaker 2: to people like you and and again like normal, normal
- 23:30Speaker 2: people and folks who have just started new orgs and
- 23:32Speaker 2: stuff like that to get it figured out.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom is calling himself an established insurgent because you know,
- 23:39Speaker 1: how could he be an insurgent at this point. He's
- 23:42Speaker 1: been in government for years and years. You know, I
- 23:47Speaker 1: on twenty twenty eight. Do you think AOC runs and
- 23:52Speaker 1: you think it's happening. So she had this weird little
- 23:56Speaker 1: video out this weekend where she gave herself a shot
- 24:00Speaker 1: in her stomach on camera and said that she was
- 24:03Speaker 1: freezing her eggs and it's a process that has a
- 24:06Speaker 1: very questionable success rate. She's in her late thirties already.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I believe she's thirty six years old. What the hell
- 24:14Speaker 1: is she doing?
- 24:16Speaker 2: She's had a fiance for five years now, right, Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Let me tell you, I don't think that's a relationship
- 24:22Speaker 1: that's working out.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't. Again, if you if you want
- 24:26Speaker 2: to be a mother, be a mother, like you know
- 24:27Speaker 2: every how many how many pregnant congressmen have we had
- 24:31Speaker 2: so far? I know Apple's been one, and Na Pauline
- 24:34Speaker 2: a Luna I call her and it wasn't. Mayra Flora's
- 24:38Speaker 2: also pregnant at one point. I'm trying to think of
- 24:40Speaker 2: all those limits.
- 24:41Speaker 1: There's been some, but has there been any that had
- 24:44Speaker 1: an eye on the White House?
- 24:46Speaker 2: Is the question?
- 24:47Speaker 1: That's what people think she's waiting for, right, Like what
- 24:50Speaker 1: what could it be? And Mary Catherine Ham texted me
- 24:53Speaker 1: this morning that she's sad to miss the AOC news
- 24:56Speaker 1: cycle while she's away, and she said, I tell AOC
- 24:59Speaker 1: exactly what I'd tell a friend. If you've been engaged
- 25:01Speaker 1: four years, something is already wrong. If you're not sure
- 25:03Speaker 1: if you want kids by now, you either don't want
- 25:05Speaker 1: kids or don't want this man, or both.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I say, it's two years. I tossed a woman out
- 25:10Speaker 2: of my house after two and a half we were engaged.
- 25:14Speaker 2: There you go well, we.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Can explore that on another.
- 25:19Speaker 2: But no, it's right after after I think the the
- 25:21Speaker 2: limit on engagements two years. There's obviously something that's going
- 25:25Speaker 2: on there. I always thought that they weren't married because
- 25:28Speaker 2: they don't have to public publicly disclose their money if
- 25:31Speaker 2: they aren't married. I believe that's a thing. So you know,
- 25:36Speaker 2: it's married couples, so you know the pelosis, you know
- 25:38Speaker 2: what they're doing together. But you know AOC's partner, as
- 25:42Speaker 2: long as they aren't legally married, they can sneak a
- 25:43Speaker 2: lot of money to him. I believe that is the
- 25:46Speaker 2: scheme there. But no, it's it's really sad, and I
- 25:49Speaker 2: don't understand. I don't know why she did that video
- 25:53Speaker 2: other than for some sort of strange sympathy maybe with
- 25:55Speaker 2: like mothers or something, or I don't belie. Yeah, it
- 25:59Speaker 2: doesn't make it right.
- 26:01Speaker 1: So conservatives seem a little split on the whole thing.
- 26:03Speaker 1: A lot of people were like, this is ridiculous. You're
- 26:06Speaker 1: already of an age where you're heading towards where you're
- 26:11Speaker 1: not going to be able to do this naturally, and
- 26:13Speaker 1: freezing your eggs at this point it doesn't give you
- 26:15Speaker 1: that great a shot. But Katie Miller, wife of Stephen Miller,
- 26:19Speaker 1: said she tweeted good for her for wanting to be
- 26:21Speaker 1: a mother and preserving the ability to do so. If
- 26:24Speaker 1: she inspires other women to want to become mothers, awesome,
- 26:26Speaker 1: we need more babies now. I'm all on board with
- 26:29Speaker 1: more babies. But is that what she's doing or is
- 26:31Speaker 1: she inspiring women to wait indefinitely because it's totally fine
- 26:36Speaker 1: and has no drawbacks to freeze eggs, which is not true.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And she didn't just quietly do this. She posted herself
- 26:42Speaker 1: giving herself the shot to social media made it seem
- 26:46Speaker 1: like no big deal. She could have a baby whenever
- 26:48Speaker 1: she wants. That's not really how it goes.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I think I think Katie Miller's right about the whole
- 26:53Speaker 2: thing about like or sorry, You're right about having the
- 26:56Speaker 2: child anytime she wants. Katie Miller, I don't understand. Stop
- 26:59Speaker 2: playing nice. I'm playing nice with these people who clearly
- 27:02Speaker 2: hate you. I mean, they've said everything terrible under the
- 27:05Speaker 2: sun about Steven Miller, who I think is a brilliant guy. Yeah,
- 27:08Speaker 2: and like for Katie Miller to step up, like again,
- 27:11Speaker 2: this is like the stupid burrito argument that happened last week,
- 27:13Speaker 2: like twenty dollars burritos, blah blah blah. I don't care,
- 27:16Speaker 2: you know, if it's stage to divide the right congratulations,
- 27:19Speaker 2: they fell for it again. There is an uninformed influencer
- 27:22Speaker 2: class on our side that just will take up any
- 27:26Speaker 2: talking point that comes along and fight back and forth
- 27:29Speaker 2: and like again, like, I have no problems with Katie Miller,
- 27:32Speaker 2: but like, come on, be smarter than this. You know
- 27:35Speaker 2: you're out there defending AOC against Republicans. Just how about
- 27:39Speaker 2: don't say anything? How about don't look like there's division,
- 27:41Speaker 2: like if you disagree with what Republicans are out saying,
- 27:43Speaker 2: just like on this one, just like, don't take her side,
- 27:46Speaker 2: don't give them what they want. That's what she wants
- 27:49Speaker 2: from this, all.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Right, AOC. Look, I on twenty twenty eight will see
- 27:54Speaker 1: where she ends up with a baby or not. A
- 27:56Speaker 1: baby would actually soften her a lot for twenty twenty eight.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Maybe she should her as a political prop at least.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I have a lot of insulting things that I could
- 28:04Speaker 2: say here about having a baby with her. But look,
- 28:07Speaker 2: I know that I've shopped at the same Whole Foods
- 28:10Speaker 2: that she. I don't know if she still shops by
- 28:11Speaker 2: herself grocery shops, but we used to grocery shop like
- 28:15Speaker 2: at the same time at the Whole Foods on Capitol Hill.
- 28:17Speaker 2: And when you look into her eyes, there are just
- 28:19Speaker 2: is nothing there, man, when you meet her in person.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it. All right, We're going to take
- 28:24Speaker 1: a short break and come right back with one more
- 28:26Speaker 1: segment of Normally. We are back on Normally, where my
- 28:34Speaker 1: guest's co host today filling in for Mary Catherine Ham
- 28:37Speaker 1: is Tim Young. Tim is awesome and you should follow
- 28:40Speaker 1: his ex account. Tim runs his mouth. He's doing a
- 28:43Speaker 1: really wonderful job hanging in here for MK. And I
- 28:47Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I feel like he's optimistic sometimes pessimistic.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Sometimes he's really living the normally ethos here.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'm an ally of the norm which is what the
- 28:58Speaker 2: show's all about.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So what's normal is not happening at the WNBA. There's
- 29:06Speaker 1: so much news about it. My kids are like, is
- 29:09Speaker 1: this a giant sport? Why are you guys talking about
- 29:11Speaker 1: it so much? But there's so much going on, most
- 29:13Speaker 1: recently Sophie Cunningham, who publicly said that biological boys shouldn't
- 29:19Speaker 1: play in girls sports and is now public enemy number one.
- 29:22Speaker 1: She got clotheslined by Dejane Carrington, who was ejected from
- 29:27Speaker 1: the game and tweeted white privilege from the locker room.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I didn't think it was white privilege. I thought it
- 29:34Speaker 1: was assault. But okay, what the hell's going on in
- 29:38Speaker 1: this league?
- 29:39Speaker 2: Well, here's the truth is, more people will see videos
- 29:42Speaker 2: of Sophie Cunningham getting clotheslined or pointing than we'll watch
- 29:46Speaker 2: any single game, including playoffs, of the WNBA this year.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Your kids are right right, unless, unless, unless Clay Travis
- 29:55Speaker 1: gets his way and gets to have a Nashville Balls
- 29:58Speaker 1: team with all all trans players. That would make it
- 30:02Speaker 1: musty TV.
- 30:04Speaker 2: It would be super fun. But and you know, I
- 30:06Speaker 2: debate whether or not Britney Grinder is a man or not.
- 30:08Speaker 2: That deep voice is very odd to me. And the
- 30:11Speaker 2: video of her with no shirt on, I don't know
- 30:14Speaker 2: if you've seen that before. The yeah, it's it's very
- 30:20Speaker 2: questionable there. But oh, I wanted to be called pops
- 30:23Speaker 2: with her child wants your child to call her pops.
- 30:26Speaker 2: That's another hut thing. So they may already have trans
- 30:29Speaker 2: people in their league. That being said, I'm tired of
- 30:32Speaker 2: the WNBA. I think if they were smart, they would
- 30:34Speaker 2: have leaned into Caitlin Clark and now Sophie kind of cans.
- 30:37Speaker 2: But the problem is they're run by leftists. And so
- 30:40Speaker 2: you have two reasonably attractive white women, one who is
- 30:44Speaker 2: the best female basketball player of all time, the other
- 30:47Speaker 2: who created a meme that's bigger than the league in
- 30:51Speaker 2: one second and sells out shoes like crazy. And you
- 30:54Speaker 2: have a league of jealous, angry, ugly lesbians who just
- 30:59Speaker 2: want to beat them up because literally it's just jealousy
- 31:02Speaker 2: and hatred. When you know, if this, if they realized
- 31:05Speaker 2: who Caitlin Clark and who Sophie Cunningham could be, they'd
- 31:08Speaker 2: lean into it, sell more tickets and be friendly. But
- 31:12Speaker 2: the tickets that they're selling, and I debated this with
- 31:14Speaker 2: a Barshaol sports woman recently, you know they're like, oh,
- 31:19Speaker 2: it sells out, Brooklyn sells out. I'm like, yeah, wokies
- 31:22Speaker 2: are buying tickets to act out for this. When I
- 31:24Speaker 2: went to see the Black Panther movie when it first
- 31:26Speaker 2: came out from Marvel, it was full of like weird,
- 31:30Speaker 2: smelly theater kids that went to go see it in Washington,
- 31:33Speaker 2: d C. Because they felt it was their job to
- 31:35Speaker 2: go do it. That's their big woke part. And right now,
- 31:38Speaker 2: the big woke part is for these people to show
- 31:43Speaker 2: up and buy, you know, one hundred dollars tickets to
- 31:46Speaker 2: go watch crappy basketball for a couple of hours and
- 31:49Speaker 2: then take selfies and say they did it. By the way,
- 31:51Speaker 2: big big props to you know, the little girls that
- 31:54Speaker 2: got yelled at by the Seattle coach for standing up
- 31:57Speaker 2: for girls and stuff. Everybody who's been getting called out
- 32:00Speaker 2: for this, they've been wearing xxxy athletic gear stuff. I
- 32:04Speaker 2: think it's been reasonable stunts by a good company, by
- 32:07Speaker 2: the way, xxxy, great great athletic company that stands up
- 32:11Speaker 2: for women in sports. But total great stunts that have
- 32:15Speaker 2: been working.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I mean, so nis Kant Freedom and Royce White are
- 32:19Speaker 1: two former NBA players who have declared for the twenty
- 32:23Speaker 1: twenty seven w NBA Draft. And the thing is that
- 32:26Speaker 1: the WNBA has to take this somewhat seriously. I mean,
- 32:30Speaker 1: is it a stunt. Of course it's a stunt, but
- 32:32Speaker 1: they have to take it somewhere seriously. Wesleyang talks about
- 32:35Speaker 1: this on x He says the meeting is happening. The
- 32:37Speaker 1: WNBA commissioner said that league is meeting in New York
- 32:41Speaker 1: City because under New York City law, where the league
- 32:43Speaker 1: is headquartered, these men really can't sue if they are excluded.
- 32:47Speaker 1: If these exact same men had grown their hair out
- 32:49Speaker 1: and begun demanding to be called women two years ago,
- 32:52Speaker 1: every transactivist and ally attacking them today would be cheiring
- 32:55Speaker 1: them on the law makes no distinction. They may actually
- 33:00Speaker 1: you get to play.
- 33:01Speaker 2: I would love to see that.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Alternative is the w NBA saying they are not women,
- 33:07Speaker 1: and then they'll have to define what a woman is,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and then we're in a brand new place.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind us Cantor Freedom and Royce White suing
- 33:15Speaker 2: the heck out of these people and taking that money
- 33:17Speaker 2: and putting it towards some sort of charity that helps
