- 0:11Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode fifty of Vellio for August sixth,
- 0:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. I'm Amy and I'm Nicole. Fifty yep.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I was just thinking we're like happy to one hundred, Like,
- 0:37Speaker 2: oh you said that, I'm like, oh my.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Goodness, how did we get here through a lot of
- 0:44Speaker 3: hard work and dedications.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And technical difficulties.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Technical difficulties, yes, but man, I guess we should have
- 0:51Speaker 2: like planned something for because fifties.
- 0:53Speaker 1: A big milestone. We'll do something for a hundred. I
- 0:56Speaker 1: feel like that's like, that's the real milestone.
- 0:59Speaker 3: It's a milestone for sure.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Well, thank you to anyone who's done with us for
- 1:03Speaker 2: all fifty episodes. Yeah, and if you're new, please stick
- 1:06Speaker 2: around for the next fifty. So in this episode, we
- 1:12Speaker 2: all be discussing shows and entertainment at the wizard World
- 1:16Speaker 2: of Harry Potter theme parks.
- 1:18Speaker 3: But first listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Now for the latest headlines. So we do have a
- 1:33Speaker 3: little bit of news this episode.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I think, compared to what we've had the last couple
- 1:37Speaker 2: of episodes that we've done, which makes sense, we are
- 1:40Speaker 2: getting kind of close to back to Hogwarts time. We're
- 1:43Speaker 2: like a month away from when we're recording this, so
- 1:47Speaker 2: slowly I think we're going to start seeing things. So
- 1:50Speaker 2: the first thing is, I guess, to nobody's surprise, this
- 1:53Speaker 2: seems to be just a common thing that's going to
- 1:55Speaker 2: keep happening from now until who knows when. But all
- 1:58Speaker 2: eight Harry Potter films are rich turning to the theaters
- 2:01Speaker 2: once again at the end of August, and we've got
- 2:05Speaker 2: a first look at some of the like cups and
- 2:08Speaker 2: popcorn buckets that are going to.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Be available for purchase at the cinemas.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So there's a Hogwarts suitcase popcorn bucket, a Hogwarts Express
- 2:19Speaker 2: popcorn bucket, a Nimbus broom popcorn bucket, and it is
- 2:24Speaker 2: actually like full size, which I still which is really
- 2:29Speaker 2: funny because the account that account that I sent in
- 2:32Speaker 2: our chat that showed the Nimbus popcorn bucket that same
- 2:35Speaker 2: theater also showed the Trojan Horse popcorn bucket for the Odyssey.
- 2:40Speaker 3: That thing is also behemoth.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I just just the logistics of trying to hang on
- 2:46Speaker 1: to this broomstick and like the handle and the top
- 2:50Speaker 1: of the broom is the lid, So like you've got
- 2:53Speaker 1: this huge thing, this really long stick that you're going
- 2:56Speaker 1: to be trying to like take off your popcorn bucket
- 2:59Speaker 1: in the theater. I don't know that they've thought this through.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And not like hitting the people around you, Like it's
- 3:07Speaker 3: just yeah, and I.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Know that kids are going to take those in like
- 3:10Speaker 1: have a sword fight in the middle of the movie.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But the Nimbus Broom like.
- 3:14Speaker 2: It, and I'm sure it costs like a ton. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: just like I think that we're as a species, we're
- 3:24Speaker 2: really really overdoing it with a popcorn bucket craze. This
- 3:29Speaker 2: is no shade at all the people that love collecting
- 3:31Speaker 2: popmarn buckets. They're so cool and I'm still sad that
- 3:34Speaker 2: I never got the time turner one. But I also
- 3:36Speaker 2: am like, gosh, I have no room for these things.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I've got at least like four of them from Disney
- 3:42Speaker 2: that just are collecting shelf space. So yeah, they all
- 3:50Speaker 2: look really cool. I think the most practical one is
- 3:53Speaker 2: like the Hobwart suitcase one because it just opens up
- 3:55Speaker 2: and it's like a little lunch box kind of thing.
- 3:58Speaker 3: The Howart's Express one.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I don't know where that one opens up or like
- 4:01Speaker 2: where the popcorn goes, But yeah, the nimbus one is insane.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It looks really cool, but it's yeah, insane for a
- 4:08Speaker 2: popcorn bucket. There's also going to be a few just
- 4:11Speaker 2: like regular tin and like square popcorn buckets that have
- 4:14Speaker 2: designs on them.
- 4:15Speaker 3: There's also somehow themed tumblers.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That have like house scarves, and then there's like a
- 4:21Speaker 2: coordinating straw.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And then these are very cute.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I think they are really cute.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and they have the like twenty five years of
- 4:28Speaker 2: Magic logo on them as well. And then there's these
- 4:34Speaker 2: other tumblers that they're calling molded lid tumblers, and these
- 4:41Speaker 2: have like Hogwarts on them in the trio, and then
- 4:46Speaker 2: just some other like Wizarding World emblems kind of in
- 4:49Speaker 2: like a constellation y kind of vibe. And then on
- 4:53Speaker 2: the lid, the like molded lid or whatever is there's
- 4:59Speaker 2: one one that's like a womping willow and one that's
- 5:02Speaker 2: an owl.
- 5:02Speaker 3: It's like this just gold figuring. I don't know, I
- 5:08Speaker 3: don't know.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I don't think it detaches. I think it's just part
- 5:10Speaker 2: of the lid. Yeah, they're interesting, Yeah, quite excessive, whether that's.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Good or bad.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a lot, but there's a lot if like,
- 5:26Speaker 2: but the thing is, I know, like, yeah, if you're
- 5:29Speaker 2: somebody that loves collecting this kind of stuff, there's so
- 5:31Speaker 2: much issues from and it's really cool and it's just
- 5:34Speaker 2: cool to see.
- 5:36Speaker 3: As always like more Harry Potter stuff.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And obviously the twenty fifth anniversary and everything is coming up,
- 5:42Speaker 2: so I think.
- 5:42Speaker 3: They are going a little bit more all out for that.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And yeah, I'm sure that my theater will have none
- 5:51Speaker 1: of this, because every single time they have nothing, and
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Great, yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And the problem that I run to before is that
- 6:02Speaker 2: the theaters will start selling the like specialty popcorn buckets
- 6:06Speaker 2: or cups before the showings even start.
- 6:10Speaker 3: And this happened to me.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I know, this happened to me when some of the
- 6:14Speaker 2: Star Wars prequel films came back to the theaters for
- 6:16Speaker 2: their anniversaries.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I was so excited.
- 6:21Speaker 2: To get like the popcorn bucket or whatever, and they
- 6:23Speaker 2: were already all gone. And I went to like one
- 6:24Speaker 2: of the first showings and I'm like, what do you
- 6:26Speaker 2: mean They're already gone, Like I'm at one of the
- 6:27Speaker 2: first showings, And it's because they put them out ahead
- 6:30Speaker 2: of time, and people specifically will go to the theater
- 6:32Speaker 2: and buy them. I think you should have a ticket,
- 6:34Speaker 2: You should.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Have tickets for the showing to be able to buy it.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But yeah, so I.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Think that I know I've seen like regal posts that
- 6:47Speaker 2: there the films are coming back to theirs. I also
- 6:50Speaker 2: saw AMC, so I think that this will be pretty
- 6:52Speaker 2: widely across whatever kind of theater you have in your area.
- 6:59Speaker 2: The next thing, continuing on the celebrating the twenty five
- 7:03Speaker 2: years of the Harry Potter Films theme, both Universal Orlando
- 7:07Speaker 2: and Universal Studios Hollywood are celebrating with some limited time
- 7:12Speaker 2: offerings in the parks. This is from August first, so
- 7:16Speaker 2: this has already started at the time of recording and
- 7:18Speaker 2: when this episode comes out, and these will be available
- 7:21Speaker 2: through September first. I feel like they should extend that,
- 7:24Speaker 2: Like I feel like it should to be exactly on
- 7:26Speaker 2: September first, like let's just go through the third or something.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So at Universal Orlando there will be a limited edition
- 7:35Speaker 2: butter beer mug, and this one will have the twenty
- 7:38Speaker 2: five years of Magic logo on it. There's some special
- 7:42Speaker 2: food and beverage offerings, and there will also be the
- 7:46Speaker 2: Hogwarts Always Castle projection show, which we'll actually be talking
- 7:50Speaker 2: about a little bit later on more in our main
- 7:52Speaker 2: discussion of this episode, There is also a Wizarding World
- 7:58Speaker 2: of Harry Potter Build a Bed collaboration collection with Lug
- 8:04Speaker 2: so you can customize a bag. You basically can pick
- 8:07Speaker 2: different bags styles and then you can customize it with
- 8:10Speaker 2: different straps and charms and accessories.
- 8:13Speaker 3: This is becoming really popular.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I actually just saw something very similar to this the
- 8:17Speaker 2: last time I was at Disney, So this is really
- 8:20Speaker 2: cool that there's like a Harry Potter one coming. And
- 8:23Speaker 2: Lug bags are really good. They're really good quality as well.
- 8:26Speaker 2: And this customize a bag thing is only available at
- 8:31Speaker 2: the theme parks, so you do have to.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Go to the theme parks to have access to this.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a fun idea.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I think so too, And it's nice that there's going
- 8:40Speaker 2: to be I've seen like a bigger bag, but then
- 8:42Speaker 2: I've also seen some people with like the like a
- 8:44Speaker 2: little cross body beds.
- 8:45Speaker 3: You can get a smaller bag too, and that would be.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Really cool for like a theme park bed if you
- 8:51Speaker 2: don't need to carry a lot with you and stuff well, and.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And they already sell like so many cute key chains
- 8:57Speaker 1: at the parks too, that like aren't necessarily part of
- 9:00Speaker 1: this build a bag collection thing, but like you could,
- 9:03Speaker 1: there's so many more options than it opens up too.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, just fun.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And then when it comes to some like treats, I
- 9:14Speaker 2: saw that the Hogwarts like house ice lollies.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Now I was not positive if they.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Ever left, or if they've always just been available, or
- 9:23Speaker 2: if they've just been available as part of like every
- 9:26Speaker 2: year's back to Hogwarts. I know that during Butterbeer season
- 9:30Speaker 2: they came out with like the Butterbeer ice lollies, so
- 9:32Speaker 2: maybe these house themed ones weren't available and they're coming back.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I don't know if they ever really left, but what is.
- 9:39Speaker 2: New is that you can now get them at Ministry
- 9:42Speaker 2: of Magic and Epic Universe for the first time, so
- 9:46Speaker 2: that is definitely new. But they're also still going to
- 9:48Speaker 2: be available in Diagon Alley at Ternello's Elixir of Refreshment,
- 9:53Speaker 2: so that little like water kind of stand over by Grengotts.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And again, the flavors those ice lollies, So Gryffindor is
- 10:02Speaker 2: a peach and strawberry, Hufflepuff is pineapple and milk chocolate,
- 10:06Speaker 2: raven Claw is huffleberry and grape, which sounds disgusting, and
- 10:12Speaker 2: Slytherin is coconut and macha, which is actually the one
- 10:16Speaker 2: I would be the most intrigued to try, not just
- 10:18Speaker 2: because I'm a Slytherin.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny, because the Hufflepuff one is like totally
- 10:22Speaker 1: something I would eat too.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I would like that one too, the Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It just my only thing with Hufflepuff is I really
- 10:29Speaker 2: am curious because it's like, is it fruit based or
- 10:33Speaker 2: like chocolate bae, you know, I think.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Of like fudge, like the fudge sticles, yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 2: With pineapple, where all the other ones seem more like
- 10:41Speaker 2: fruit based, except for the Slytherin one. But yeah, I
- 10:46Speaker 2: don't know if these are only going to be available
- 10:48Speaker 2: through September first or if they're going to be available longer,
- 10:50Speaker 2: but these are definitely available now as part of the celebration,
- 10:55Speaker 2: and then also during this Back to Hogwarts twenty five
- 10:59Speaker 2: years cell lebration, you can also meet the Hogwarts Express
- 11:02Speaker 2: train conductor.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Grab a photo.
- 11:05Speaker 2: It looks like it's maybe a little bit of a
- 11:07Speaker 2: different kind of I mean, you could always like walk
- 11:09Speaker 2: up to him, but it seems like maybe it's more
- 11:11Speaker 2: formal kind of like me and great thing and also
- 11:14Speaker 2: have like a little dialogue and stuff with the train
- 11:17Speaker 2: conductor as well.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Again, I don't really know what's different about that than normal,
- 11:22Speaker 3: but right, I.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Don't know, it's part of what they're promoting, so again.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Don't Yeah, so I feel like.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I don't know if I think they're doing enough in
- 11:41Speaker 2: celebration of twenty five years. But also like I guess
- 11:46Speaker 2: I don't know like what else they would do other
- 11:48Speaker 2: than just having like merch available and having like food.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I felt that way about twenty years too,
- 11:55Speaker 1: Like I feel like they haven't really played up the
- 12:00Speaker 1: anniversaries as much as they could have. Twenty was a
- 12:05Speaker 1: huge milestone. I mean twenty five is big too.
- 12:08Speaker 2: But like I think twenty is arguably bigger like those, Yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 2: those ones on the decade, I feel like they are bigger.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I expected a lot more. I don't know, it's weird.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I think even like.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's like there's not even necessarily a special production show
- 12:27Speaker 2: because as we're going to talk about it seems like
- 12:29Speaker 2: it's the show that's currently there, Right, I don't know,
- 12:33Speaker 2: but yeah, there's those things available. I mean, I I
- 12:37Speaker 2: did go to Universal last year. On September first, so
- 12:41Speaker 2: the last day they did the back to Hogwarts stuff,
- 12:43Speaker 2: and like there was really nothing different about anything really, So.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't know, Like I feel like they
- 12:57Speaker 1: should be running some sort of like deals on tickets
- 13:03Speaker 1: or like.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I don't know, Like I wonder if that's hard to do,
- 13:09Speaker 2: because it's like the theme park is obviously more than.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Just the world, and.
- 13:16Speaker 2: So I just wish there was more like food, like
- 13:21Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe like some other special dishes and
- 13:24Speaker 2: like the food places, or I don't know, maybe more
- 13:30Speaker 2: merchandise that like has the twenty five on it. I mean,
- 13:34Speaker 2: maybe there is, and I just haven't seen it. But
- 13:36Speaker 2: the only thing that I've really seen is like this
- 13:38Speaker 2: butter Beer likes dying.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah, or like they do a day and it's like
- 13:44Speaker 1: the first X amount of people to walk through diagon
- 13:49Speaker 1: Alley get such and such exclusive merch item.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Or there's like poster celebrating twenty five or something.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Like something fun like that, or like the first people
- 13:58Speaker 1: to ride the Hogwart six breast that morning, get yeah something.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, it does seem a little lackluster, but
- 14:07Speaker 2: either way, there's some different things. So I think if
- 14:11Speaker 2: you're someone who goes a lot to like, it's always
- 14:14Speaker 2: nice when there's some new things going on, but a
- 14:17Speaker 2: lot of the things that we've seen before, I will
- 14:20Speaker 2: I mean, I will say like they're The next bullet
- 14:23Speaker 2: point I had here is that there's several new treats
- 14:27Speaker 2: that have also popped up at sugar Plum Sweets Shop
- 14:31Speaker 2: and diagon Alley.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Really good.
- 14:34Speaker 3: These look really, really good.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I think this is the most exciting thing of like
- 14:39Speaker 2: everything they've announced. What is really unclear is whether these
- 14:44Speaker 2: treats are for this back to Hogwarts twenty fifth celebration
- 14:50Speaker 2: or if these are going to be sticking around, is
- 14:52Speaker 2: like permanent options, right, I really can't find anything like
- 14:57Speaker 2: saying for sure. Obviously I just mentioned that they're saying
- 15:02Speaker 2: they're special food and beverage options for this celebration, but
- 15:08Speaker 2: I just, yeah, it's just not clear whether these are
- 15:11Speaker 2: a part of that or not.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I'm hoping that they're permanent.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Because we get all those really cool treats at Honey Dukes,
- 15:18Speaker 2: it would be really nice to have other options at
- 15:21Speaker 2: Sugar Plums, and like you said, they all look really good,
- 15:23Speaker 2: and it's nice to just have new treats when we've
- 15:25Speaker 2: had kind of the same thing for a lot of years,
- 15:29Speaker 2: but I think, I guess we'll have to wait and
- 15:31Speaker 2: see if they stick around after.
- 15:35Speaker 3: The first or not.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because there's Yeah, there's like a chocolate Frog brownie,
- 15:41Speaker 2: which is the gluten sensitive option. There's like a Lemon
- 15:48Speaker 2: Niffler tar, a cherry Fire Salamander tar, a Pygmy puff
- 15:53Speaker 2: strawberry tart, a Hippogriff, BlackBerry and lavender tart, Pixie Blueberry tart,
- 16:00Speaker 2: Blondie broomstick and snowy Owl trickle tait, Oh my god,
- 16:03Speaker 2: treacle tart.
- 16:05Speaker 1: The Hippogriff one sounds really good to me.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of like lavender anymore,
- 16:14Speaker 2: so that part throws me off like a little bit,
- 16:16Speaker 2: But yeah, that one looks good. I think the broomstick
- 16:21Speaker 2: one looked really good to me. The Chocolate Frog Brownie
- 16:25Speaker 2: sounds really good too. And I do like that there
- 16:27Speaker 2: is like a gluten sensitive option. Of course, it's hard
- 16:32Speaker 2: because there's a lot of cross contamination and stuff, which
- 16:35Speaker 2: is why they're calling it gluten sensitive instead of being
- 16:38Speaker 2: completely gluten free.
- 16:39Speaker 3: But I like that there's a gluten.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Sensitive option available, So yeah, I hope that these do
- 16:45Speaker 2: stick around, because they're really fun and they do look
- 16:48Speaker 2: really good, so I guess we'll see. Yeah, but they
- 16:54Speaker 2: those are available in the parks now if you find
- 16:57Speaker 2: yourself there over the next month.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to test them when I go, so
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'll report.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Back, yeah, for sure.
- 17:05Speaker 2: And also there was an announcement of Harry Potter and
- 17:10Speaker 2: Tim Horton's well, we're just gonna stick on.
- 17:12Speaker 3: The food train here.
- 17:14Speaker 2: They are teaming up for an exclusive partnership starting August twelfth,
- 17:18Speaker 2: so a few days after this episode comes out. So
- 17:22Speaker 2: the announcement mentions a Golden Snitch Timbit, which is kind
- 17:26Speaker 2: of like a Dunkin Donuts munchkin or like a donut hole.
- 17:29Speaker 2: There is a sparkling patronis quencher. It's just described as aqua.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Blue in color. I have no idea what flavor aqua
- 17:40Speaker 3: blue is.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And then it's topped with a white, cold foam and
- 17:46Speaker 2: I think, as of right now, that's all we know
- 17:48Speaker 2: about it, okay. And then there's four what they call
- 17:53Speaker 2: enchantingly delicious flavors of Hogwarts House donuts, so the Slytherin
- 17:59Speaker 2: don't it is chocolate and pistachio, which again is right
- 18:03Speaker 2: up my alley, just confirming that I was always meant
- 18:05Speaker 2: to be fliver. The Griffin Door donut is filled with
- 18:10Speaker 2: strawberry cheesecake filling in topp with strawberry bark.
- 18:15Speaker 1: That sounds good to.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Obviously get the red.
- 18:19Speaker 2: The Hufflepuff donut is lemon meringue, and the Raven claud
- 18:24Speaker 2: donut is a blueberry filled.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Donut.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, they've been doing a lot of these, like
- 18:33Speaker 1: they did Crispy Cream they did. Yeah, huh.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I know, And I don't know if.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see because my nearest, like Tim Hortons,
- 18:47Speaker 2: is in like a gas station that I have down
- 18:51Speaker 2: the road. So I always like wonder if those kind
- 18:55Speaker 2: of locations will get these things right.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Because the Crispy around here that wearing gas stations did
- 19:02Speaker 1: not get right any of that stuff.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, I guess we'll see more to see
- 19:09Speaker 2: on that. But that's exciting, especially if you're, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 2: a donut fan. And the next thing I saw was
- 19:18Speaker 2: about just the Harry Potter audiobooks, and it looks like
- 19:22Speaker 2: they're now available on Spotify audiobooks as well, which is
- 19:26Speaker 2: really nice if you already pay for like Spotify Premium
- 19:29Speaker 2: subscription you do get I believe it's still ten hours
- 19:33Speaker 2: of listening of audiobooks a month as part of that
- 19:36Speaker 2: paid subscription, but then you can also pay, like you
- 19:40Speaker 2: can op your subscription to be specifically for Spotify audiobooks
- 19:43Speaker 2: to get more listening time. So I guess I didn't
- 19:47Speaker 2: realize that maybe the Harry Potter audiobooks were not on
- 19:49Speaker 2: Spotify previously, but I don't know.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I saw this and said, I.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Like audiobooks, so I'm gonna include this, So I believe
- 19:58Speaker 2: they're on there now, and they're currently doing very well.
- 20:01Speaker 2: So according to Spotify reports, there was a five hundred
- 20:06Speaker 2: and fifty one percent surge and global listens to Sorcerers
- 20:10Speaker 2: Stone during its first week on the platform, and the
- 20:14Speaker 2: US streams of Chamber of Secrets audiobook are up over
- 20:17Speaker 2: one two hundred percent.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 20:20Speaker 2: So that made me excited because I love audiobooks, and
- 20:24Speaker 2: I love the Harry Potter audiobooks, and I could see
- 20:27Speaker 2: like having them on Spotify definitely could maybe open up
- 20:32Speaker 2: a new audience of people who don't typically like listen
- 20:35Speaker 2: to audiobooks, or don't search out audiobooks or don't want
- 20:38Speaker 2: to pay for a subscription to something like Audible, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 2: or something like that. I just like when audiobooks become
- 20:44Speaker 2: more widely available to people because I think then people.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Listen to them. Yeah, sure, that's exciting. And then just
- 20:53Speaker 3: some merch news.
- 20:54Speaker 2: So there is like I've seen a lot of different
- 20:55Speaker 2: merch kind of floating around. We always kind of see
- 20:58Speaker 2: merch kind of kick around this time of year because
- 21:00Speaker 2: we're getting into back to Hogwarts, like we said, and
- 21:03Speaker 2: the celebration, and so I didn't include everything here, but
- 21:06Speaker 2: because we always tend to talk about the new Lego
- 21:08Speaker 2: sets that are coming out, I figured I.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Throw that in. So there's a Ministry of Magic set
- 21:13Speaker 3: that's coming in September. It looks really cool. It's got
- 21:16Speaker 3: a lot of pieces to it.
- 21:19Speaker 2: And there's also a mini Hogwarts castle that's coming late August,
- 21:25Speaker 2: and so that.
- 21:25Speaker 3: One's much more.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Doable, and I think it's also only like thirty something dollars,
- 21:32Speaker 2: where the Ministry of Magic set is one of those
- 21:34Speaker 2: ones that costs a little bit more. But yeah, they
- 21:37Speaker 2: both look really cool, nice and somehow Lego I feel
- 21:42Speaker 2: like we always say this, but Lego seems to just
- 21:44Speaker 2: keep coming up with new eye sets and ideas even
- 21:49Speaker 2: after all these years. And the last bit of news
- 21:54Speaker 2: here that I included was just that we have gotten
- 21:57Speaker 2: a rating for season one, so the Philosopher's Stone of
- 22:02Speaker 2: HBO's Harry Potter series, and it has been rated TV fourteen.
- 22:08Speaker 2: And I do think this is a really big deal
- 22:10Speaker 2: because we've talked a lot about wondering if the show
- 22:14Speaker 2: will be darker, more mature, and this kind of like
- 22:19Speaker 2: confirms that it will be because in comparison, so obviously
- 22:24Speaker 2: TV shows are rated slightly different than movies, but to
- 22:27Speaker 2: compare them, the Sorcerer's Stone film was rated PG, and
- 22:33Speaker 2: overall the Harry Potter films were rated PG or PG thirteen,
- 22:39Speaker 2: which of course they were never going to get like
- 22:41Speaker 2: an R rated Harry Potter film, but like to the
- 22:44Speaker 2: fact that, like the TV show is already like a
- 22:47Speaker 2: higher rating than any of our movies ever got in
- 22:52Speaker 2: the way that you can compare them.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Again, it's not an actual apple comparison, and.
- 22:57Speaker 2: We don't rate TV shows the same as movies, which
- 22:59Speaker 2: doesn't always makes sense.
- 23:00Speaker 1: To me, especially streaming. Streaming the rules are a little.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Looser, right, right, So, but a TV fourteen rating is
- 23:13Speaker 2: I mean, it's saying that anyone under the age of
- 23:15Speaker 2: fourteen should have parental guidance, and that we're getting that
- 23:18Speaker 2: right from our Sorcerer's Stone, Philosopher's Stone, which arguably was
- 23:25Speaker 2: our most kind of g rate it. I mean, it
- 23:29Speaker 2: was obviously it had something that had to be PG,
- 23:31Speaker 2: but it was way more.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Child friendly than a lot of the other movies.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So yeah, it's interesting this rating because, like you said,
- 23:42Speaker 1: obviously the film was only PG, which I feel like
- 23:46Speaker 1: worked for the film.
- 23:47Speaker 3: There were some dark moments.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yeah, the book, you could read it and enough was
- 23:55Speaker 4: glossed over that it could be suitable for a younger
- 23:59Speaker 4: audience as a children's book, but.
- 24:06Speaker 1: There's also so much there that, like I think, when
- 24:11Speaker 1: you're a little bit older and you read it, you
- 24:14Speaker 1: kind of realize, Yeah, and those aspects, I would assume
- 24:21Speaker 1: are what's going to be expanded on to make it
- 24:24Speaker 1: this higher rating. And Plus, if we're seeing things that
- 24:29Speaker 1: initially in the books and in the movies take place
- 24:33Speaker 1: off screen, like we've been talking about, those are those
- 24:39Speaker 1: moments that do have more potential for more violence, more
- 24:44Speaker 1: disturbing imagery, all that stuff, so that it makes sense
- 24:48Speaker 1: to me that it is going to be higher rated
- 24:50Speaker 1: if you're including all that stuff that was sort of
- 24:54Speaker 1: left out and kind of left to the side and
- 24:57Speaker 1: for your brain to fill in to keep it kind
- 25:01Speaker 1: of suitable for a younger audience. So it makes sense.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I think it also makes sense with like just the
- 25:09Speaker 2: vibes of that first trailer that we got, I mean,
- 25:12Speaker 2: it does not open in happiness and anything. So yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 2: I don't know, I think too that. I mean, I'm
- 25:22Speaker 2: happy for this because I think we've talked about, like
- 25:25Speaker 2: I a lot of the people that I think will
- 25:28Speaker 2: be the prime audience of this series are going to
- 25:32Speaker 2: be those of us that grew up with.
- 25:34Speaker 3: It, and we are all older now.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And so it'll be really I think it'll be nice
- 25:41Speaker 2: to have a I mean, yes, it's still a children's
- 25:45Speaker 2: story at the end of the day, right, but like
- 25:46Speaker 2: as we've talked about, there are a lot of really
- 25:48Speaker 2: mature themes in there, and so it'll be nice to
- 25:50Speaker 2: have that kind of like mature version of the story,
- 25:55Speaker 2: I guess especially, I think that also helps to separate
- 26:01Speaker 2: it too from the films. If they're going to take
- 26:05Speaker 2: that more mature.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Tone with the.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Series, it is it is going to obviously be similar
- 26:11Speaker 2: because it's the same story but very different vibes, I think,
- 26:15Speaker 2: which I'm all about so really curious to see because
- 26:19Speaker 2: if we're already starting at Philosopher's Stone being TV fourteen, like,
- 26:24Speaker 2: what is going to happen as we progress through the story?
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess we'll see.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Which I mean, this is going to show my ignorance.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Can you get a higher rating than TV fourteen for TV?
- 26:45Speaker 1: So when that just jumps straight to like X or whatever,
- 26:48Speaker 1: this which is not going to be right really bad
- 26:53Speaker 1: to get there.
- 26:54Speaker 2: So I was just trying to google it really quick
- 27:00Speaker 2: and I couldn't.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Really find a really good answer to that.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Oh, TV mature.
- 27:06Speaker 3: TV mature, Yeah, that's right.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I didn't know that, which is but I.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Mean, but look at okay, this is this is why
- 27:14Speaker 2: this is crazy And I thought this was news newsworthy
- 27:16Speaker 2: because so for those of you that are not familiar
- 27:19Speaker 2: with the television parental guidelines in the United States, there
- 27:25Speaker 2: there here's what they here's what they are, right, So
- 27:27Speaker 2: there are several before you get to TV fourteen. So
- 27:31Speaker 2: there's TV why, TV Y seven, TV Y seven FV
- 27:40Speaker 2: no idea.
- 27:40Speaker 1: What that means for fantasy violence.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Oh, okay, okay, TVG TVPG, which is.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Generally actually what I thought that this would be rated
- 27:51Speaker 2: TV fourteen and then tvm A. Yeah, so we're already
- 27:57Speaker 2: at almost the highest Yeah, waiting.
- 28:01Speaker 1: So TV fourteen is parents strongly cautioned for children under fourteen,
- 28:06Speaker 1: and TVMA is mature audience only generally unsuitable for anyone
- 28:12Speaker 1: under seventeen.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I bet you the whole series ends up being TV fourteen.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yes, it has to escalate a lot to get TV mature.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Usually in the US TV mature.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I mean I watch a lot of TV mature shows.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I think, like I mean, things like Game of Thrones
- 28:29Speaker 2: are TV mature. There's a lot usually if there's sex,
- 28:33Speaker 2: yeah that sexual violence, depictions of sexual violence, anything like that.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So think of your yeah, things of things like your
- 28:42Speaker 2: Game of Thrones, those are things on in the HBO
- 28:45Speaker 2: realm that meet the TVMA category.
- 28:49Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I just still think it's interesting because I definitely thought
- 28:52Speaker 2: that the first season would get a TVPG, yeah, which
- 28:56Speaker 2: is parental guidance suggested may contain material unsuitable.
- 28:59Speaker 3: For younger child.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, I guess we'll see. I just I
- 29:08Speaker 2: saw that and I thought, I was really surprised by that.
- 29:11Speaker 2: So yeah, and I think for the most part, that's
- 29:14Speaker 2: it for the news.

- 29:41Speaker 1: so for our main discussion, we wanted to talk about
- 29:45Speaker 1: the different shows in entertainment at the Universal Theme parks.
- 29:52Speaker 1: This is primarily Orlando focused because Hollywood only has Hogsmeeed,
- 29:59Speaker 1: So basically entertainment in Universal Orlando Wizarding World sections. So
- 30:08Speaker 1: starting off, we'll start in Hogsmead. We have two shows
- 30:14Speaker 1: that share the same stage area in Hogsmeads, So we've
- 30:19Speaker 1: got the Frog Choir and we've got the Tri Wizard
- 30:23Speaker 1: Spirit Rally. Now, both of these are located on that
- 30:27Speaker 1: stage that's like just under the castle. As you're walking
- 30:31Speaker 1: up to the castle, there's the stage there. The Frog
- 30:35Speaker 1: Choir features four Hogwarts students, one from each house and
- 30:41Speaker 1: their frog companions. And basically what this show is is
- 30:46Speaker 1: the students sing or beatbox slash hum songs from the
- 30:51Speaker 1: Wizarding World, and the frogs croak along and accompany them.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's very cute. You can catch it daily in Hogsmead
- 31:03Speaker 1: at the stage. You can check the app for show times,
- 31:07Speaker 1: but it's usually every other hour.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and it alternates with the Spirit the tri Wizard
- 31:14Speaker 2: Spirit Rally.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I believe it does. Yeah, if I'm remembering correctly.
- 31:20Speaker 2: But no, Yeah, this show is really cute and I
- 31:24Speaker 2: really like the show. The singers are all very good
- 31:28Speaker 2: and it is really cool how they bring in like
- 31:30Speaker 2: the beatboxing and everything like that, because they're singing.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Like pretty like a cappella.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I think there's maybe some like music and I can't remember, God,
- 31:38Speaker 2: why can't remember if there's like a track in the
- 31:40Speaker 2: back or if they Yeah, I think it's all acapella.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I might be confusing with Celestina. But yeah, so that's
- 31:48Speaker 2: really cool. And they also do some like little jokes
- 31:52Speaker 2: a little bit kind of you know, not verbal jokes,
- 31:55Speaker 2: but like just kind of jokingly with each other as
- 31:58Speaker 2: they're singing, and it's I think it's a really fun show.
- 32:00Speaker 1: They always do the one try Wizard song the so
- 32:14Speaker 1: then the other show that's on the stage, the Try
- 32:17Speaker 1: Wizard Spirit Rally. You've got Hogwarts, dirm string, and bubbaton
- 32:22Speaker 1: students who are trying to hype up the excitement for
- 32:25Speaker 1: the Try Wizard Tournament. It features dancing with some very
- 32:30Speaker 1: familiar choreography. Got the dorm string guys with their their
- 32:34Speaker 1: little staffs, and like we mentioned, this alternates with the
- 32:40Speaker 1: frog Choir, so it's in the same place. If one
- 32:44Speaker 1: happens on one hour, you can be pretty sure that
- 32:48Speaker 1: the other will happen on the next hour. This one
- 32:52Speaker 1: does end with a really cute photo op too that
- 32:55Speaker 1: you can get with all the students.
- 32:58Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, this one's really cool too. And I'm
- 33:03Speaker 2: always like super impressed with especially the guys and like
- 33:07Speaker 2: the derm string section, because especially when it's like really
- 33:10Speaker 2: hot out and they're wearing like those really heavy, like
- 33:13Speaker 2: brown full body costumes and they're like twirling or no
- 33:18Speaker 2: one that means that the bulbatons are like really up
- 33:20Speaker 2: there twirling, but like.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Just up there with not it's not like, I don't
- 33:26Speaker 3: know what's the word I'm looking for. They're not doing
- 33:27Speaker 3: like acrobatics.
- 33:28Speaker 1: That's a little bit more like break dancing kind of or.
- 33:33Speaker 2: That, or like martial arty Yeah, it's it's kind of
- 33:37Speaker 2: got martial arts vibes to it and.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Very choreographed.
- 33:43Speaker 2: And I've seen it before where like they were short
- 33:47Speaker 2: a person and like just the way that they like
- 33:50Speaker 2: adapted the choreography to just have one less of.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Them was really interesting.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And then yeah, the Bobaton section is a lot of
- 33:58Speaker 2: twirling and a company with our famous and it's really
- 34:04Speaker 2: funny because you can tell the people in the audience
- 34:07Speaker 2: that like maybe aren't as familiar with like Harry Potter,
- 34:10Speaker 2: because they just really get kind of like like almost
- 34:14Speaker 2: like awkward es very uncomfortable, very uncomfortable, and you can
- 34:20Speaker 2: just that you can just tell who hasn't really seen
- 34:22Speaker 2: the movie and isn't getting the reference.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Yeah, no, this is a really cool show too.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Yeah. So then at night, we've got some nighttime shows
- 34:38Speaker 1: that take place in Hogsmead as well. We've got the
- 34:41Speaker 1: projection shows where they do the projection mapping on Hogwarts Castle.
- 34:48Speaker 1: And these shows don't have a set start time, but
- 34:52Speaker 1: they just kind of start whenever it gets dark, depending
- 34:55Speaker 1: on when that is throughout the year. So you head
- 34:58Speaker 1: into Hogsmead and you'll get directed in the direction of
- 35:01Speaker 1: the castle there are ropes that get set up to
- 35:04Speaker 1: try and help the flow of the crowd. If there's
- 35:08Speaker 1: a current showing happening at that moment, you'll be held
- 35:11Speaker 1: in the lower part of hogsmeadth Street until that crowd
- 35:15Speaker 1: from that showing is cleared out, and then they'll move
- 35:17Speaker 1: the next group up.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:20Speaker 2: I would say the good thing about this one is,
- 35:22Speaker 2: although there's not like a designated start time, it does
- 35:26Speaker 2: happen a few times periodically from when they started until
- 35:29Speaker 2: when the park's closed.
- 35:30Speaker 3: So if you miss it the first.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Time, just like hang around and like Amy said, they
- 35:35Speaker 2: kind of like will shuffle the cloud up and they
- 35:37Speaker 2: kind of funnel you out through Juraffic Park area over
- 35:39Speaker 2: like that bridge, and then you can then kind of
- 35:42Speaker 2: come up and be in that next group.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it does run pretty continuously, so there's definitely
- 35:48Speaker 1: lots of chances, and there are several different versions of
- 35:56Speaker 1: the projection show that happen. A lot of these are
- 35:59Speaker 1: at different times of the year. One of them is retired,
- 36:02Speaker 1: as I recently found out, So that retired one is
- 36:09Speaker 1: the Nighttime Lights, and this premiered in twenty eighteen. This
- 36:15Speaker 1: is the one if you've seen it It's narrated by
- 36:17Speaker 1: the sorting Hat and it shows different projections for each
- 36:21Speaker 1: of the houses. This is the one that I remember
- 36:26Speaker 1: seeing way back when. It is very cool. It's fun
- 36:34Speaker 1: to hear the sorting hat.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, people cheer when they you know, when they do
- 36:39Speaker 2: each house and it gets to your house, then.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cute. But what I didn't know until I
- 36:47Speaker 1: was researching for this episode, and I feel really dumb
- 36:51Speaker 1: about this.
- 36:52Speaker 2: No, don't feel dumb, because Amy texted me and I
- 36:55Speaker 2: was like, wait, what so I also.
- 36:58Speaker 3: I'm the same as you.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I missed this memo entirely. Okay, So every time I've
- 37:03Speaker 1: been to the parks in recent years, in the past
- 37:08Speaker 1: what two years, yeah, two years, I have skipped out
- 37:13Speaker 1: on the light Show, except for the time that I
- 37:16Speaker 1: went at Christmas and I watched the Christmas Light Show,
- 37:18Speaker 1: which we'll talk about. But the other times I just
- 37:21Speaker 1: like didn't watch the light Show because I was like, well,
- 37:23Speaker 1: I've seen it. It's the sorting Hat one, Like, I've
- 37:25Speaker 1: seen it a ton of times. It's fine, I'll go
- 37:27Speaker 1: to dinner. Apparently I've been missing the new light Show
- 37:34Speaker 1: since twenty twenty four, so as of twenty twenty four.
- 37:39Speaker 1: The Light Show is now this new Hogwarts Always Light Show,
- 37:43Speaker 1: which is currently playing now through September. First for that
- 37:49Speaker 1: Back to Hogwarts Month. Yeah, so this show I had.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I looked up some of it on YouTube. I didn't
- 37:58Speaker 1: watch through the entire thing because I actually am going
- 38:01Speaker 1: to go watch it now that I know that it's
- 38:03Speaker 1: new and I don't want to totally spoil it for myself.
- 38:06Speaker 1: But basically, it takes you through a school year at Hogwarts,
- 38:11Speaker 1: from getting your acceptance letter to the awarding of the
- 38:13Speaker 1: House Cup at the end. And it actually has different
- 38:18Speaker 1: endings based on who wins the House Cup, which is
- 38:22Speaker 1: kind of fun.
- 38:23Speaker 3: So they determine who wins the House Cup.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess it's just different each time
- 38:29Speaker 1: and they're like, yeah, make nice slitter and fireworks.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, yeah, I've never seen this one either.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I'm guessing this is the one that was happening the
- 38:43Speaker 2: last time you and I were at Universal and we
- 38:46Speaker 2: were back in the hotel every night by the time
- 38:49Speaker 2: of the show, yes, because we assumed it with the one.
- 38:51Speaker 3: We've already seen a million times and it wasn't.
- 38:54Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, unfortunate, but I will remedy that situation,
- 39:01Speaker 1: I will tell you at that point. So also I
- 39:06Speaker 1: guess what kind of made that happen in a way
- 39:10Speaker 1: of going two years and missing that is these shows
- 39:14Speaker 1: changed by the season as well, so like not all
- 39:19Speaker 1: of my trips would have been timed with that show
- 39:21Speaker 1: going on anyway, So I don't feel quite as bad
- 39:26Speaker 1: because come like middle of September. In October it becomes
- 39:31Speaker 1: the Dark Arts Show. So this one obviously corresponds with
- 39:37Speaker 1: the Halloween season and it features dementors, death theaters Baltimore,
- 39:43Speaker 1: et cetera. And then we get to my favorite castle show,
- 39:48Speaker 1: and that is the Magic of Christmas Show. I love
- 39:52Speaker 1: this one so much. So it's obviously very festive. It's
- 39:57Speaker 1: around Christmas season. Get like snow falling on the castle,
- 40:02Speaker 1: the ghosts singing their Christmas Carol from the first film,
- 40:06Speaker 1: which is so cute. You've got the yule ball dancers,
- 40:12Speaker 1: You've got Christmas trees popping up in different turrets. This
- 40:17Speaker 1: one usually starts running in November and ends like the
- 40:21Speaker 1: first or second week of January usually, but this one's
- 40:26Speaker 1: really fun. Hogwarts looks so pretty with the snow on
- 40:29Speaker 1: the rocks and everything highly recommend.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I really like this one and I love the.
- 40:37Speaker 2: So I might be I don't think I'm confusing it.
- 40:42Speaker 2: But at the kind of towards the end, I really
- 40:45Speaker 2: like how Hogwarts looks with this one, and it's probably
- 40:49Speaker 2: because of the snow. Yeah, I'm remembering the right one,
- 40:52Speaker 2: but yeah, this one is really nice.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's got like all like the twinkle lights
- 40:55Speaker 1: and then like they put the Christmas tree up in
- 40:57Speaker 1: the highest turret. Its yeah, it's really pretty okay. So
- 41:02Speaker 1: then moving over to diagon Alley, we've got quite a
- 41:06Speaker 1: bit going on here. First step, we've got Celestina Warbeck,
- 41:12Speaker 1: who has two different shows, the regular show and the
- 41:15Speaker 1: Christmas Show. We're not going to talk about the Christmas
- 41:19Speaker 1: show too much because you know, spoiler for ahead in
- 41:23Speaker 1: a few months we are going to talk about Christmas
- 41:26Speaker 1: in the Worstening World in general, so just yeah, talk
- 41:29Speaker 1: about it then. But the regular show for Celestina is
- 41:35Speaker 1: located on the stage in Carget Market in diagon Alley,
- 41:38Speaker 1: which is the area underneath like the covered overhang thing.
- 41:44Speaker 1: The show happens pretty much every hour or two, and
- 41:47Speaker 1: you can check the app again for specific day show times,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and the show is Celestina and the Banshees, which are
- 41:56Speaker 1: her backup singers, and this is just a really really
- 42:00Speaker 1: fun show and the performers are incredibly talented. I've seen
- 42:05Speaker 1: several different Celestinas and they're all amazing. Yeah, they're so great.
- 42:11Speaker 1: They get like fully in character and just like are
- 42:14Speaker 1: that visiting world diva and it's it's great. The songs
- 42:19Speaker 1: are really catchy and witty and they've got like magical
- 42:23Speaker 1: lyrics and puns going on in them. A fan favorite
- 42:27Speaker 1: moment from this show is when they select an audience
- 42:30Speaker 1: member to join them for you charmed the heart right
- 42:33Speaker 1: out of me. And it's usually some like dad on
- 42:36Speaker 1: vacation with his family.
- 42:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, usually some like middle age dad who's
- 42:41Speaker 2: just along for the ride.
- 42:44Speaker 3: And yeah, Palestina.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Picks them up and he always looks so uncomfortable at first,
- 42:50Speaker 1: but then as soon as they get to that, like
- 42:53Speaker 1: right when they.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Get to them, every time they eat it up, they're like, yes,
- 42:59Speaker 3: this was my it.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I've been waiting for this my entire life.
- 43:04Speaker 1: It's so cute. I love it. And then obviously we
- 43:09Speaker 1: mentioned the Christmas Show. The Christmas Show features different costumes
- 43:13Speaker 1: and a new holiday setlist, so the songs are all
- 43:17Speaker 1: holiday themed and it even snows during one of them.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It's just a lot of fun.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I love Celastina, and I think that one thing
- 43:28Speaker 2: too about a lot of these shows is even if
- 43:32Speaker 2: you've seen it before, like I always like to recommend
- 43:35Speaker 2: going to see it again because you're not I think
- 43:38Speaker 2: some people like will think it's just the same show
- 43:41Speaker 2: every time, but like the setlist can be slightly different
- 43:44Speaker 2: in the next show that we're going to talk about.
- 43:46Speaker 2: That does change a little bit throughout the day. So yeah,
- 43:50Speaker 2: I always recommend even if you're like, oh, I already
- 43:52Speaker 2: saw Celistina today, I'm going to skip it, Like I
- 43:54Speaker 2: don't know, maybe stay and watch it again because you
- 43:56Speaker 2: might get a different song that you didn't get before.
- 43:59Speaker 1: It's funny too, like looking around the crowd during the
- 44:03Speaker 1: Celestina shows, you see the people who have been there
- 44:06Speaker 1: like fifty billion times because they're all singing along. Yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 1: Like Celestina has her own little like fan club. So
- 44:18Speaker 1: then the other show that happens here on the same
- 44:20Speaker 1: stage in carget Market is The Tales of Beatle the Bard,
- 44:26Speaker 1: So just like over in Hogsmead, the two shows here
- 44:28Speaker 1: in Diagon rotate throughout the day. So the tales of
- 44:34Speaker 1: Beatle the Bard, they retell selections from Beatle's Book of
- 44:39Speaker 1: Fair Tales, and they tell two different stories. So this
- 44:44Speaker 1: will change depending on the show times, so you could
- 44:49Speaker 1: either see the Fountain of Fair Fortune or the Tale
- 44:53Speaker 1: of the Three Brothers. So the concept of this show
- 44:58Speaker 1: is that this is like an act troop and they're
- 45:01Speaker 1: like dedicated to their art and they use these puppets
- 45:05Speaker 1: to tell the story, and the puppets are really really cool.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I love this show. This is actually probably I
- 45:15Speaker 2: guess maybe like spoiler alert, like probably like my favorite
- 45:18Speaker 2: show across the whizzarding world. They maybe we'll talk more later,
- 45:25Speaker 2: but and I always get I really like seeing both.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I get really excited when they do tell the Three Brothers,
- 45:32Speaker 2: Like I get really excited when I catch Tell the
- 45:34Speaker 2: Three Brothers because I really love that one. But Fountain
- 45:36Speaker 2: a Fair Fortune is great too.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Okay, So then we move over to Epic Universe in
- 45:45Speaker 1: Place Cachet, where the first sort of show situation we
- 45:50Speaker 1: have is the jazz band. So the Place Cachet Jazz
- 45:55Speaker 1: Band comes out periodically throughout the day. There's no schedule
- 45:59Speaker 1: for I don't believe I've never really checked for one,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but I think they just kind of pop up when
- 46:03Speaker 1: they pop up, weather permitting. And they play in the
- 46:08Speaker 1: space rate by Cosme's wand Shop in front of that
- 46:12Speaker 1: statue from Crowns of Grin the Bald. And these are
- 46:18Speaker 1: live musicians who are really playing, which is crazy. They're
- 46:23Speaker 1: super talented. There's a trumpet, trombone, and clarinet, and they're
- 46:30Speaker 1: accompanied by this like magical music box thing with Plume
- 46:35Speaker 1: the puff Schemes sitting on it and Plume just kind
- 46:37Speaker 1: of like bops out to the music. He's so cute.
- 46:43Speaker 1: They play nineteen twenties style jazz, some of which will
- 46:47Speaker 1: sound familiar to fans of The Fantastic Beasts films.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I really.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I like the like the vibe. I guess that this
- 46:57Speaker 2: sets like I really like three performs. They're basically like
- 47:00Speaker 2: a free performer, right, and I think that that's well
- 47:02Speaker 2: even though they don't kind of like walk around, it's
- 47:04Speaker 2: really nice because you just don't know when you're going
- 47:08Speaker 2: to catch them, and then you kind of hear them
- 47:09Speaker 2: and everyone kind of just gathers and it just I
- 47:14Speaker 2: just like street performers in general, and I think it's
- 47:17Speaker 2: really cool too that they also have incorporated, like you said,
- 47:20Speaker 2: some of the songs from the Fantastic East films and
- 47:23Speaker 2: they're in that jazz style as well.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just really cool.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're fun, Like they have banter that happens
- 47:33Speaker 1: between songs too, Like they talk about some night that
- 47:38Speaker 1: they played at like a jazz club in New York
- 47:41Speaker 1: City and like stuff, and like they talk about I'm
- 47:45Speaker 1: pretty sure the one time I was there, they name
- 47:47Speaker 1: dropped the blind Pig, which is a fun little reference. Yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 1: So they're just fun. I just love the puff scheme
- 47:57Speaker 1: so much.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's super cute.
- 48:00Speaker 2: And I think it's nice too because obviously every show
- 48:05Speaker 2: the performers are like in character, but there is something
- 48:11Speaker 2: like different about the like character moments in Epic Universe. Yeah,
- 48:15Speaker 2: I mean that was part of like with that part,
- 48:18Speaker 2: something that they wanted to do with that park. But
- 48:23Speaker 2: it feels different than like Celstine like Stina, maybe because
- 48:26Speaker 2: cel Astina is like on a stage and.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Everything and this one's more like that street performer.
- 48:30Speaker 2: But yeah, I really like that they have that moments
- 48:32Speaker 2: of kind of like banter and talking and just like
- 48:35Speaker 2: those character moments rather than just coming out and you know,
- 48:38Speaker 2: playing music, it makes it just seem more real. Yeah,
- 48:41Speaker 2: like you're really seeing this magical traveling band on the
- 48:46Speaker 2: streets of Paris.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:51Speaker 1: So then I didn't list the other like character interactors
- 48:58Speaker 1: because I don't know that I would categorize them as shows,
- 49:01Speaker 1: but like, yeah, the yeah, same sort of deal. I
- 49:06Speaker 1: mean they pop up when they pop up, and it
- 49:09Speaker 1: is really fun to have the interactions with them. You've
- 49:11Speaker 1: got obviously the Hogwarts student, the Bubbaton student, an ilver
- 49:18Speaker 1: Morny student, and then you've got the French or you've
- 49:22Speaker 1: got Cosme in the wand Shop. So yeah, it's just
- 49:26Speaker 1: it's very like immersive and all of them are really
- 49:29Speaker 1: good at playing their roles. So yeah. So then our
- 49:35Speaker 1: last show, and I think we've saved the best for last,
- 49:42Speaker 1: is Cirque Arcnou, which I can't get over the pronunciation of.
- 49:48Speaker 3: This because always be canas.
- 49:51Speaker 4: It's always just going to be our canas to me,
- 49:55Speaker 4: which sounds so ridiculous.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Now, but that's, yeah, my my American pronunciation.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I was gonna say it sounds very like English American pronunciation,
- 50:05Speaker 2: so now it does sound ridiculous that we all thought
- 50:07Speaker 2: it was arcane, but sorry, Arcanis Arcanis, Yeah, it is
- 50:12Speaker 2: our canoe.
- 50:14Speaker 1: From New York. It's our canis.
- 50:19Speaker 2: See and we're from New York, so it makes sense, right, exactly.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Yeah, which we obviously talked a ton about this show
- 50:28Speaker 1: in episode twenty three where we talked about our trip
- 50:31Speaker 1: to Epic Universe, but just to reiterate, you know, this
- 50:34Speaker 1: show is inside the Circus tent. It's located right in
- 50:38Speaker 1: the crossroads of Place Cachet, So you see that tenth
- 50:42Speaker 1: straight ahead as soon as you come through the arch
- 50:44Speaker 1: into the Ministry of Magic section. Showtimes are staggered throughout
- 50:51Speaker 1: the day. I believe it's like every hour. It's pretty
- 50:55Speaker 1: there was.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Yeah, there's definitely quite a few shows.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you can always catch up.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Yea every hour and a half something like that.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And every time I've been the theater's been full,
- 51:07Speaker 1: which is kind of amazing that, like, you know, they're
- 51:11Speaker 1: doing that many showings, but everyone is full. So when
- 51:16Speaker 1: you enter the line, it takes you into the tent,
- 51:19Speaker 1: where the interior of the tent looks like it's been
- 51:22Speaker 1: magically extended to be larger than the exterior, and it's
- 51:27Speaker 1: like I obviously know how they do this, and like
- 51:33Speaker 1: you can just logically like know how that happens, but
- 51:37Speaker 1: it's just still so.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Cool because I think even if you logically know what's happening,
- 51:44Speaker 2: it doesn't feel like that's what's happening, right, Like, it
- 51:49Speaker 2: literally does feel like you're entering just in this little
- 51:54Speaker 2: tent that you just see and it just somehow keeps
- 51:57Speaker 2: going bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 51:59Speaker 3: And so they, yeah, they did a really good job
- 52:01Speaker 3: with that because you.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Just you do forget about the like logics and the
- 52:07Speaker 2: logistics of it when you're experiencing it.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it's very cool. So all throughout the line
- 52:14Speaker 1: there's a ton to look at. You've got all sorts
- 52:17Speaker 1: of posters of magical creatures. You've got like the circus advertisements,
- 52:23Speaker 1: the popcorn machine and all that stuff. Once you kind
- 52:29Speaker 1: of funnel through the tent line, you end up in
- 52:33Speaker 1: a big open room and that's the pre show room,
- 52:38Speaker 1: and the pre show really sets the stage for this
- 52:41Speaker 1: whole experience, which I don't want to get too spoilery,
- 52:46Speaker 1: but like I am going to talk a little bit
- 52:49Speaker 1: about it, So if you want to know nothing, maybe
- 52:52Speaker 1: like skip ahead a.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Bit, but.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Basically you meet a couple of house elves that are
- 53:00Speaker 1: working at the circus. You meet Skender, the ring master
- 53:04Speaker 1: who we saw in the Fantastic Beast movies. You meet
- 53:08Speaker 1: his assistant, Gwenlyn, who is an original character invented specifically
- 53:14Speaker 1: for this show. So basically, in the pre show, you
- 53:18Speaker 1: find out that Skender has stolen News Commander suitcase in
- 53:22Speaker 1: an effort to return magical creatures to his circus since
- 53:26Speaker 1: the show has been tanking in profits since Newts set
- 53:29Speaker 1: all of the circus creatures free. After the pre show,
- 53:35Speaker 1: you enter the show area with cease pointing towards the stage.
- 53:39Speaker 1: There is plenty of seating, so like a ton of
- 53:41Speaker 1: people can get in here. And it starts out with
- 53:45Speaker 1: like typical circus acts with a magical twist. There's a
- 53:49Speaker 1: clown who's blowing bubbles and like making shapes with them.
- 53:54Speaker 1: There's an acrobat with a broomstick. But one thing leads
- 54:01Speaker 1: to another. The actual circus gets interrupted. Gwen opens new
- 54:06Speaker 1: suitcase and you end up inside the case, and that's
- 54:10Speaker 1: kind of the moment that the show really really really shines,
- 54:14Speaker 1: when you're transported into the case. And all of the animatronics,
- 54:19Speaker 1: the puppets, They're just all so amazing to look at.
- 54:25Speaker 1: This show is just like I don't know, I don't
- 54:28Speaker 1: know how they're going to ever top this. I'm sure
- 54:30Speaker 1: they will because technology is going to keep getting even
- 54:33Speaker 1: better and better and better, but like this show is
- 54:36Speaker 1: so cool.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Yeah and yeah, and this was like t All the
- 54:41Speaker 2: Three Brothers like used to be my favorite show until
- 54:44Speaker 2: like this show happened. And I am like really excited
- 54:47Speaker 2: to see the show again because I've still only ever
- 54:49Speaker 2: seen it once.
- 54:49Speaker 3: I've only been to Epic Universe.
- 54:50Speaker 2: At one time, so I'm really excited to see it
- 54:53Speaker 2: because I feel like it will feel like seeing it
- 54:56Speaker 2: again for the first time, because when you haven't seen
- 54:59Speaker 2: it in a really long time time, Like I remember
- 55:01Speaker 2: the show, but there's definitely, like I think, probably parts
- 55:04Speaker 2: of it that I don't fully remember, and I do
- 55:07Speaker 2: think I will say. One thing I like about this
- 55:09Speaker 2: show too, is that the pre show in and of
- 55:12Speaker 2: itself is really good too. Yes, It's it's so crazy
- 55:16Speaker 2: to me that, like, you have such a good pre
- 55:18Speaker 2: show that just then leads into like just an even
- 55:21Speaker 2: better show. It just keeps getting better and better and better,
- 55:25Speaker 2: And I do like that they didn't just automatically make
- 55:29Speaker 2: it like a fantastic bat show. Like I like that
- 55:31Speaker 2: it has that the pre thing where you're like, it's
- 55:35Speaker 2: like you went to go see a magical circus and
- 55:38Speaker 2: you're seeing these acts and it's real circus acts, like
- 55:41Speaker 2: you said, and then it just kind of then becomes
- 55:44Speaker 2: the show element of it.
- 55:46Speaker 1: And I like that it's not just like something ripped
- 55:50Speaker 1: right from the movies, like to kind of go along
- 55:53Speaker 1: those lines.
- 55:53Speaker 5: Like, I like that they developed a believable like continuation
- 56:01Speaker 5: of the story in Skender's direction, because like, yeah, what
- 56:05Speaker 5: did this guy do after all of his.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Creatures were set loose? Like the circus wasn't very good anymore,
- 56:13Speaker 1: so he had to figure something out. Yeah, So I
- 56:17Speaker 1: do really like that.
- 56:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the thing that's I think the most
- 56:23Speaker 2: cool about this show is it's definitely just very immersive,
- 56:25Speaker 2: which fits the theming about the universe and the more
- 56:29Speaker 2: immersive entertainment.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Yeah. I agree. I don't know how they'll ever.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Top that show with something else if they open another
- 56:43Speaker 2: park that requires a show.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. They better not ever get rid
- 56:50Speaker 1: of this one, or I'm gonna like ryot.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I mean they definitely can't, because like, right, the Circus
- 56:57Speaker 2: is part of Epic. But I do wonder if, like
- 57:01Speaker 2: after X amount of years, will they want to change
- 57:07Speaker 2: it or was that space like really built and curated
- 57:10Speaker 2: for this specific show. I always worry about that because it's,
- 57:15Speaker 2: like you want to It's like this fine balance between
- 57:23Speaker 2: wanting people to keep coming back to see a show
- 57:25Speaker 2: that they fall in love with and they really like
- 57:27Speaker 2: and you're excited about, and also balancing Okay, we've been
- 57:31Speaker 2: running this particular show for five years at this point,
- 57:34Speaker 2: like we need to freshen this up so that people
- 57:37Speaker 2: keep coming back.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Here, so it'll be interesting to see.
- 57:40Speaker 2: I guess how they navigate that is the park ages,
- 57:43Speaker 2: but I mean the other shows in the other parks
- 57:45Speaker 2: have been.
- 57:46Speaker 3: They've been there, the same shows for.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Ten, fifteen years now, whatever it's been. Yeah, I think
- 57:53Speaker 1: from like a merchandising standpoint too, they sell so much
- 57:58Speaker 1: merch from that show of all the creatures, Like I
- 58:02Speaker 1: mean everyone rushes the little cart when they exit the
- 58:06Speaker 1: circus show with all the moon calves and the Kelpie
- 58:11Speaker 1: and the Demi guys, So like, yeah, I don't think
- 58:15Speaker 1: it will be a spark idea to get rid of it, but.
- 58:20Speaker 2: No, and I mean and I think that they would
- 58:22Speaker 2: never be able to just completely get rid of the
- 58:24Speaker 2: show and not replace it with something there because I
- 58:27Speaker 2: think as we talked about like when I think maybe
- 58:29Speaker 2: we talked about this when we were doing our review
- 58:31Speaker 2: of Ministry.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Of Magic and Epic Universe, is that one.
- 58:37Speaker 2: I think I don't want to even call it a
- 58:40Speaker 2: negative or a con because I don't think it's that severe.
- 58:42Speaker 2: But there isn't a lot in that particular park other
- 58:50Speaker 2: than obviously doing like the magic and going in all
- 58:53Speaker 2: the shops and everything. But I'm also thinking about like
- 58:58Speaker 2: your casual park goer and what would attract them, and
- 59:01Speaker 2: that is things like rides and shows, and you basically
- 59:05Speaker 2: have one ride and you have one show. So you know,
- 59:09Speaker 2: I don't think that they could ever get rid of
- 59:11Speaker 2: having a show there because then what are you literally
- 59:14Speaker 2: just have one ride and some restaurants and stuff. That
- 59:16Speaker 2: just doesn't work for a theme park. But yeah, I
- 59:19Speaker 2: could see them maybe changing the show eventually, but I
- 59:23Speaker 2: don't know, because I feel like that space was really
- 59:26Speaker 2: built for that particular show, and they obviously put a
- 59:30Speaker 2: lot of time and effort, and I'm sure money into
- 59:32Speaker 2: the animatronics and the puppets and the special effects and
- 59:35Speaker 2: everything that are part of that show. That I could
- 59:38Speaker 2: see them just continuing to run it indefinitely unless it, yeah,
- 59:43Speaker 2: things start breaking or it becomes hard to you know,
- 59:46Speaker 2: to maintain it.
- 59:47Speaker 1: I think for these types of things, I don't think
- 59:53Speaker 1: that we would see them go away necessarily, like not
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: in that short amount of time, like I'm thinking about
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: like stuff like the Jaws ride, or like the Lost Continent.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Stuff like that was after a very very long time,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: like that wasn't like a five ten years We're done,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I mean, I think the good thing is is that
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: the Wizarding World areas are such a substantial section of
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: these parks that I don't think they're really at risk
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: for like going away. Like obviously, like right, Jaws, Okay
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: went away for the sake of actually Harry Potter. But
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: the reason why we have Diagonaley where we have it
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: is because they got rid of Jaws.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: So I think.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: That that at least has it going for it, Like
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I don't think they'll ever come to a point where
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: they're like, well, we need to rip down this Harry
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Potter section of the park, so we can put something
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: different there.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: I don't want to say never, say never.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Because that could happen in fifty years, but I think
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: it'll be I think it'll be around for a while.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I think, if anything, we'll see more things added to
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: that park maybe before we start seeing things changed or
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: changed like take it away.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: So I just looked it up and Jaws was open
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: for twenty one years, Poseidon's Fury was open for twenty
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: four years. So yeah, they keep things for a very
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: long time before they finally are like okay, And.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: I mean, and I think too, like, you know, I
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: will say that because you know, again, it wouldn't I've
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: already brought in other things a million times this episode.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: I was like, it wouldn't be an episode of Rebellia
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: without me bringing up a comparator from something else, right,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: I think that thinking about Disney right, like, we're seeing
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: a lot of changes in the Disney parks right now.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Things that have been around for a really long time,
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: and people that are really big Disney Parks fans.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Do really struggle with those changes. I'm one of those
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: people that's.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Really struggling with some of those changes, but at the
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: same token, like you know, Walt was really big on
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: like these parks need to always like change, always be moving,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: like it should never be just in stasis.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: And I think that that mentality.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Does extend to theme parks in general, because it's like,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: again this fine line of balancing like nostalgia.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Of what we have in this park and also.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Knowing that as time keeps moving on, new things are
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: going to come out and new things are going to
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: become more popular. And we've gotten very lucky that thirty
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: years later, Harry Potter is.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: Still just as big.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: But that's also like I feel like more of like
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: a rarity to like still be just as popular, like
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: you know, thirty years later.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: So I think that we won't see things like change
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: in a while for a while for sure, but it
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: makes sense.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: I think that over time Jaws kind of succumbed to
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: building an area about like no, I don't want to
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: see it, say like a bat. I mean to me,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: it's a better area, but like but like an area
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: that is better for the park and more revenue for
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: the park. And it makes sense that eventually, like Poseidon's
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Fury like did kind of go as well, because I
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: wonder if just over time they just started seeing less
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: and less attendance. So I would be really interesting to
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: see if I think Epic Universe is still so new
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: and that a lot of the people that are going
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: to Epic Universe are still first timers to Epic Universe.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: So I think that's you know, to your point when
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: you said, like it seems like they're still filling up
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: the shows every time, because I think it is still
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: a lot of new people. But like, on the same
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: side of that, though, in the older parks, the shows
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: that they do at.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: The older parts still are full.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: I mean when I'm at studios and I go to
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: like the Horror Makeup Show, it is full every single time,
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: And that show has been around for a really long
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: time too, so people still stop and watch Celestina, people
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: still watch the Rally, So I think that.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I think just how cool that show is too.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Is enough to keep people like coming back and being
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: excited to see that show every time they find themselves,
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: you know, at.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Epic Yeah, for sure, So.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: I think it'll be protected for a while.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: But I'm also very curious to see, like, yeah, what
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: do you do after that show has been running for
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: fifteen twenty years.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: But yeah, it's a really cool show.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I want to watch it again.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I really want me to see it again because, like
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I yeah, there's like specific moments that I can like
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: very vividly recall from seeing it. I do remember like
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: crying and getting like really emotional, and I remember like
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: the end, but there's some things in the middle that
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I don't fully remember.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: So I'm excited to see it again.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I got to plan another trip. Darn.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: This is for the sake of the podcast podcast research.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: All right, Well that's it for our main discussion on
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the shows. Yeah, that's all of them at this current
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: moment in time.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I think.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: And actually, speaking of what we were just saying, I
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: wonder if they'll end up doing like a Christmas e
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: thing ad Ministry of Magic, because we do see obviously
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: we talked about Celestina get a little bit of a
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Christmas makeover, the Hogwarts projection show gets a Halloween and
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Christmas inspired makeover, and we're obviously very new to Epic
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Universe being part of the Christmas season, so it'll be
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: really interesting to see if we eventually get like a layover,
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: like holiday layover kind of thing.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: The jazz.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: I was gonna say, the jazz performers really cool. Yeah,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: I think I could totally see that.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess we'll see get on that universal.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the easiest thing for them to introduce first
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: is obviously the decorations and introduce some like Christmas songs
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: for the jazz band.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: But yeah, Sonny, So.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Last episode we asked who is worse, Grindelwald or Valdemore
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: and got some interesting responses and I think maybe we
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: still don't fully know in the end.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: It's too hard to decide.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: But the and and actually speaking on that, the Leaky
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Cauldron left us a very fitting giff on Instagram of
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: just a thinking pondering in response to the question, because
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: it is a really tough question.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: And but we did have.
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Some sides taken so from while nut Seeker on Instagram
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Grindevald was the pick went on to elaborate that, you know,
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Grindovald had Europe scared, Valdemore.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Couldn't kill a tween, which fair enough, very fair.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: And at the end of the day, I mean Baltimore
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: was like defeated by a baby who didn't even defend themselves,
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: So Baltimore. Claire Port was defeated by a baby, and
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Grindewald killed a baby. Well, had his followers kill a baby.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: That's a pretty good yeah, comparison there. And then we
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: got a response from Jerry as well. Jerry said, as
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: to which villain is worse, I think that while they
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: were being villainous, they were both pretty bad and I
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: would hate to rank them. So again, wished really hard,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: So Jerry said, we don't know everything that each did,
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: but both of them murdered people themselves and encouraged their
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: followers to commit murder, tortured people themselves and encouraged their
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: followers to commit torture, and so on, and they recruited people,
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: and by encouraging them to do wicked things, some of
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: their followers, who might otherwise have remained good became bad,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: and those were victims, just like those killed or tortured.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Jerry said that the biggest differences that Grindelwald survived to
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: spend decades in prison, and based on what he did
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: when Baltimore paid a visit, I believe that he ended
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: up with feelings of remorse and his attempt to protect
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Dumbledore from Baltimore. In either case, if he knew Dumbledore
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: was dead or if he thought him alive, as we
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: kind of talked about at the end of our episode,
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Jerry says, was an attempt at restitution. If Grendelvald had
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: shown up at King's Cross at the end of book seven,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: he wouldn't have been the weird, boldy baby thing Harry saw.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: But I believe that Grendelvald went on to whatever form
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: of afterlife wizard kind has where Valdemore was completely destroyed
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: in his end. Yeah, And it's kind of that, like,
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: like we were kind of talking about towards the end
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: of the episode, like A, I don't want to say
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: that Grendelvald necessarily had a redemption arc in the end,
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: but it.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Was kind of like because he didn't. Unfortunately he didn't.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Valdemore ends up killing him, right, so he doesn't necessarily
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: like and he's in prison and all that, and he
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: doesn't really get to like live out a redemption arc.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: But to that point of him having all these these
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: years to think about.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: It and to kind of have the beginnings of maybe
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: like remorse and that redemption arc where Valdemore just there
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: was never remorse.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: There was never a redemption arc. There was never a
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: light at the end of the tunnel.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Well, and it comes down to too that Grenivald had
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: a soul still, right, Valtimore mutilated his soul right Without
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: a soul, there's like no chance at remorse or redemption. Really, like,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: you're done. You're not human anymore. And if you're not human,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: you're not capable of those human emotions.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: So yeah, well, and I think that maybe too, like
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: and I don't know, I feel like maybe we didn't
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: touch on that in or episode. I think that to me,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: that is actually kind of what ends up making Grindivald
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: worse and more scary. Is that again, to the point
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: of what we're even talking about, he's in the end
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: of the day, he's still human, Yeah, and he's still
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: not that what Baltimore becomes justifies anything that he does.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: But like to your point, like he's just so far gone,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: he's so far mutilated in terms of his soul, his values,
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: his morals, his humanity that it almost like, well, of
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: course he like does these things.
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: He's got no human emotion or humanity. There's no stop him.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no conscience saying you shouldn't do that.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Right where Grinovald has that and he chooses to anyway. Right.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: But then again, like Jerry just pointed out, we think
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: you know in time though, that humanity kind of always
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: wins in the end of like thinking about you know
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: what you did and would you do it again, and
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: just his lack of support in Baltimore pursuing you know,
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: his means too is definitely very, very important. And Jerry
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: also shared that our discussion confirmed a feeling that she
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: had about the Third Fantastic Beast movie ending. She said,
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: I think it was a mistake to show Dumbledore doing
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Grindevald as he did without having it be the final duel,
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: and she said that with the blood pack destroyed, it
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: makes Dumbledore look like a coward for letting it decade
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: more or less pass before finally confronting Grindebald and defeating him,
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: and all the deaths and other evil that took place
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: during that time, which I mean, obviously we agree. We
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: talked a lot about that at the end, and Dumbledore
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: himself even kind of admits that.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: But I think I do.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Agree that having this duel happen in the film that
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: we weren't aware of happening before just does make Dumbledore
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: look like it clearly was in the movie for the
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: cinematic purpose of it. It didn't really make sense in
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: the story and character arc of them.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: In my opinion, that was.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Them being like, we're gonna ditch movies four and five,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: but we still want a duel.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: I feel like in that moment we should have known
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: that there was going to be no more, because why
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: would you The big climactic plot point of their whole
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: character arc is their duel.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Yeah, and then we got this like mini duel. Yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: I can't believe I didn't realize that while I was
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: watching Hindsight Hindsight's twenty twenty. Yeah, but yeah, Jerry also
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: said that, you know, she said, by the way, I
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: don't think I ever saw evidence in the books or
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: the movies that Grendelwald had a pure blood fetish like
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: VOLDI did. And she said, I believe that he had
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: no problem with a witch or wizard who was half
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: led or muggle born.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: He just had a dislike of muggles.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Too bad that we never learned enough of his backstory
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: to understand why.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, same, very same.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: You know, And I don't even know if yeah, you know,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: and it's like, I don't even know if we know
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: enough about him to say that he dislikes muggles more
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: so than his whole thing is really about we're the
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: superior being here.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Why are we in the shadows?
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Why are we having to suppress ourselves when we have
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: this special power, this specialness about us, Like they the Muggles,
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: should be subservient to us, right the other way around.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Right, I don't know that he disliked them, but I
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: think he definitely saw them as disposable, correct, which I
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: guess is kind of the same.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: But well, but no, I mean, I think at the
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: end of the day, the reason why.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Witches and wizards were kind of having to hide was
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: because of muggle Yeah.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Right, So it's easy to blame them for.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, or thinking like, we can't coexist with muggles, because
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: if muggles know that we have this kind of power,
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: they're going to be demanding things from us all the
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: time to fix their Muggle world. And so it's easier
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: just for witches and wizards to hide and not have
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: muggles know that there's this whole piece of the world, right.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: And.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so they are I mean, they are definitely very
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: very different characters. But I think, as the responses showed,
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: I don't know if anybody is if there's a solid
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: answer to this to this question, they're both pretty bad.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Yeah. So our discussion question for this episode is do
