- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, today we're going to assume that you would like to know what
- 0:34your first step is. If you were starting a business
- 0:38like let's just say, you were starting a problem, not even a
- 0:42business, just a project, let's just take it that way, okay, had
- 0:46this question quite a bit lately and I think it's coming up from
- 0:50just, people are getting a little bored.
- 0:51They want to do something different and so, they're asking
- 0:54questions that lead you down a road.
- 0:56So that's quite a few people ask.
- 0:58Well, you know, I want, I have an Dia for something I want to
- 1:02do and I'm ready to jump in and so I said to them, what is what
- 1:08do you think? Your first step is and
- 1:11inevitably it's always well, you know, I've got to either secure
- 1:15funding or I've got to write my business plan and while that may
- 1:20seem very logical to most people to say something like that,
- 1:24could it be? Yes it could be that that is one
- 1:27of the first steps that you have to do but there is a more
- 1:30critical Typical step that at least from my perspective of
- 1:33keeping you going long term, which is essentially what we're
- 1:37dealing with trying to keep you going long term, we're saying
- 1:39okay, you know if you're going to do this you're going to be
- 1:42doing it for quite some time. So you know you want to make
- 1:47sure that there's 100% knowledge about the that everything you
- 1:53need to know. So what's that first thing?
- 1:56And the quintessential question is, if you Have this, I, you
- 2:02know, idea and you want to run with it or this business, you
- 2:05want to run with it. You need to know for sure that
- 2:09you're going to be committed when it gets hard, when it gets
- 2:12complicated. When you don't know what you
- 2:16don't know. And that's the crazy part about
- 2:19having a business. That's the crazy part about you
- 2:22know, doing whatever it is that inspires you and wants to keep
- 2:25you going. You got to know that you're
- 2:29willing to keep going. When you You run into what, you
- 2:32don't know. I'll tell you when I first
- 2:35started coaching, I did not understand lots of aspects.
- 2:39It seemed pretty straightforward.
- 2:41Seemed pretty simple and it's just not.
- 2:44I didn't understand the level at which you constantly have to
- 2:48grow yourself in order to be a world-class coach.
- 2:52You have to grow every single day.
- 2:55You have to be learning, you have to be expanding, you have
- 2:57to be preparing for what you need and you.
- 3:00Your clients are going to show up because you just don't know,
- 3:04the level of different things that they're going to bring to
- 3:06the table and expect you to be able to help them with.
- 3:09And I'll tell you that pushes me in a great way.
- 3:15But because I knew up front, somebody said to me, well, you
- 3:21know, you got to have your business plan, you got to have
- 3:23this, you got to have thought I knew all the digital stuff, but
- 3:26I didn't know that, and I hadn't Incorporated that into my
- 3:30regular. Euler life about it.
- 3:32So once I got to a certain point where I wanted these this
- 3:38business to grow and these people to be able to grow and do
- 3:41it, I just had to, okay, I have to throw myself into this, and I
- 3:44have to make learning part of my everyday regimen.
- 3:48I just have to do it. Constantly, there are always
- 3:51books. There are always things to
- 3:52learn. Now that made me seem simple but
- 3:54when you're running a business and you're coaching, you know,
- 3:5912 hours a day for days, Week and you are running a farm and
- 4:03having a family that's a lot to incorporate and to constantly be
- 4:08able to learn and grow. So you have to, you know, figure
- 4:11out how to use your nut time, do certain things that are in by
- 4:14net time, I mean time when you're not doing you're doing
- 4:17one thing like for instance, if I'm weed, whacking I have a
- 4:19headset on and I'm listening to books if I'm in the car, I'm
- 4:24listening to books, I use my net time a lot to make sure that I
- 4:29can use that. And make it work, the best for
- 4:32me. But if you don't know in the
- 4:35beginning, the most important thing is your level of
- 4:39commitment to it, when it gets tough and committing to the fact
- 4:43that you don't know what you don't know right now, like,
- 4:45whatever you're thinking of doing whatever project you're
- 4:47thinking of doing, you just don't know what you're gonna run
- 4:50into. You have no idea years ago.
- 4:53I decided I wanted to learn how to do watercolor on Chinese
- 4:57watercolor paper. No one told me at that point.
- 5:00Time. How difficult Chinese watercolor
- 5:03paper was to work with? May seem like a silly screwy
- 5:06example, but it's like painting on toilet paper.
- 5:09And I made this decision that I wanted to learn this.
- 5:12And then I kept running into the fact that I kept sticking my
- 5:14brush right through the paper and it was really annoying.
- 5:17It was really annoying and I got frustrated and I walked away
- 5:20from it multiple times and it pissed me off that I couldn't
- 5:23get it. And the thing was I was really
- 5:27committed to knowing how to do it and I had to learn a lighter.
- 5:30Hand. I had to learn easy, light,
- 5:33fingers, easy fingers, but I had been so used to painting with
- 5:37acrylics. I didn't understand the
- 5:39difference and my hands. My muscle memory had to change.
- 5:42But what I was organically doing and didn't realize because I'm
- 5:46so freaking stubborn. I wouldn't quit, I didn't give
- 5:50up, but not everybody's in that headspace not everybody's as
- 5:53stubborn as I am. So, the reason I'm bringing this
- 5:57up is, you should go and do and create and Whatever you want,
- 6:02but you have to ask yourself the really important.
- 6:05Question first, am I committed to this?
- 6:08When it gets hard and if the answer is yes, then you say okay
- 6:12what does hard look like? What are the things I can find
- 6:16out from people so that I can write them down and say okay
- 6:20these are potential stumbling blocks and go to someone that
- 6:23will be real about it with you. And once you know that then you
- 6:27say am I going to be able to Traverse These things and really
- 6:32be able to say and commit to myself that.
- 6:35Yep, I heard this. Yep.
- 6:36I made a commitment and I really strongly suggest that if you're
- 6:40going to do whatever it is that you're going to do you write
- 6:42yourself a note or you do a self yourself a recording and you
- 6:45keep it in your phone and your voice memos where it says when
- 6:48it gets hard, listen to this. And so you can listen to
- 6:52yourself when you're in a better State and you've made that
- 6:54decision that says, hey yeah, I'm willing to do it because
- 6:58oftentimes, I will get that. I'll Honest with you guys.
- 7:01I will get that. I will get the just.
- 7:02Yes, yes, yes. And that's cool.
- 7:04I'm no problem with that. But you better, make sure if you
- 7:07say that to me I'm going to come back at everybody who does it
- 7:11and say well you did say yes and it's hard when you get that
- 7:14reminder but you can do that for yourself.
- 7:17So I'm going to challenge you to think about this, okay?
- 7:21Are you willing to do what? It's what it takes when it gets
- 7:24hard and know that first before you do your business plan,
- 7:28before you do everything, No, that first because I promise
- 7:33you, it will get hard. Everything does right down to my
- 7:36garden? My chickens growing flowers,
- 7:39avoid those are the things that are the hardest.
- 7:42So I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 7:46tomorrow. Bye.
- 7:30No, that first because I promise you, it will get hard.
- 7:35Everything does right down to my garden?
- 7:37My chickens growing flowers, avoid those are the things that
- 7:41are the hardest. So I hope you guys have a very
- 7:45blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 7:47Bye.
