- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's Ron Furb.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Big stories, big opinions, after Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Hunter Gattis now coming on to pitch for the Cleveland Guardians.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Eighth inning with Cleveland on top. 3-2, Eric Sabrowski with
- 0:23Speaker 3: a wipeout seventh inning. Made 10 pitches, struck out a batter.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Cade Smith is warming in the Cleveland bullpen. Hunter Gattis
- 0:35Speaker 3: in this championship series appeared in game one. And Hunter Gattis. Workday,
- 0:47Speaker 3: scoreless inning so far in October. Six appearances, 1-0, has
- 0:54Speaker 3: not given up a run in five and a third.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Seven strikeouts, no walks, fastball, slider, change. Cleveland's pitchers today, 77%
- 1:04Speaker 3: of their pitches have been strikes. Johnny DeLuca, the seven-hole hitter,
- 1:11Speaker 3: takes down and away ball one. DeLuca has grounded out twice.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Cleveland three, Tampa Bay two. Eighth inning of game three,
- 1:24Speaker 3: series knotted up one win apiece. The pitch up and in, 2-0.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Tampa Bay has struck out 11 times today. That's a
- 1:40Speaker 3: boatload for them. Now the 2-0. There's the strike.
- 1:47Speaker 4: 2-1.
- 1:49Speaker 3: The Rays with the lowest strikeout rate in baseball. The
- 1:54Speaker 3: highest contact rate in baseball. But Evan Williams struck out nine.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Espino and Cebrowski each won the pitch. Swing and a
- 2:03Speaker 3: foul tapped by third base. 2-2 the count on DeLuca. DeLuca, Palacios,
- 2:13Speaker 3: and Walls. Bottom third of Kevin Cash's order. Now the
- 2:21Speaker 3: 2-2 delivery.
- 2:24Speaker 5: High.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Full count. Well, and.
- 2:31Speaker 3: If you're any kind of a baseball fan, you know
- 2:35Speaker 3: how decimating Leonov walks can be in the late innings.
- 2:39Speaker 3: The payoff pitch. Swung on, popped him up. On the infield,
- 2:45Speaker 3: near second. Bozzana gives way to Rocchio in front of
- 2:49Speaker 3: the bag at second on the grass. The shortstop retires DeLuca.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And that is a mammoth out for Hunter Gattis. Here's
- 3:00Speaker 3: Richie Palacios, a strikeout and a ground out. Again, corner
- 3:08Speaker 3: men for Cleveland. Ramirez and Lowe. Either at the cut
- 3:13Speaker 3: of the grass or even with the bag. Palacios, good speed.
- 3:17Speaker 3: The pitch. And he drills one over the head of
- 3:20Speaker 3: Lowe down the right field line. It'll go to the wall.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And Palacios to second. De Lauder's thrown out in time.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Head first slide, a double. And the tying run at
- 3:31Speaker 3: second base. With one down in the eighth, Palacios yanked
- 3:36Speaker 3: a double down the right field line. And now the
- 3:39Speaker 3: shortstop and number nine hitter, Taylor Walls, to the.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Plate has struck out twice. And we're going to get
- 3:50Speaker 1: a pinch runner.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Jorge Mateo will run for Richie Palacios. So the tying
- 4:03Speaker 3: run at second with one down, that's just Tampa's third hit.
- 4:08Speaker 3: They had two in the fourth and now one here
- 4:10Speaker 3: in the eighth. Walls batting left-handed. 1-4-8 the series.
- 4:20Speaker 1: The set. The pitch.
- 4:24Speaker 3: And it missed down and away. Ball one. The next delivery,
- 4:41Speaker 3: a chopper to first. Handled by Lowe, flips to Gattis
- 4:44Speaker 3: for the out. Mateo to third, two down. Top of
- 4:49Speaker 3: the order in Yandy Diaz. Will we see Kate Smith?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yes, we will.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Manager Steven Vogt is going to one of the elite
- 5:00Speaker 3: closers in baseball. I think Hunter Gattis a little bit surprised.
- 5:08Speaker 6: But again.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Kate Smith has had two days off, and who knows
- 5:13Speaker 3: about tomorrow because of the weather. And manager Steven Vogt
- 5:19Speaker 3: wants Smith to grab the baseball with a tying run
- 5:23Speaker 3: at third, two down in the eighth.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Cleveland on top, three to two.
- 5:29Speaker 7: Since day one of your child's life, you've been all

- 6:58Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb, and I'll be bringing the heat
- 7:01Speaker 2: every afternoon at 3 on 570 WKBN.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Kane Smith is coming on with two down in the
- 7:13Speaker 3: eighth inning. Tampa Bay trailing 3-2. They've got the tying
- 7:17Speaker 3: run at third. Top of the order in Yandy Diaz.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Kane Smith, like Hunter Gattis.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Has now appeared in seven of Cleveland's eight postseason games.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But he did not work Tuesday, plus the off day yesterday.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And here comes Cade Smith, fastball slider split. Righty-righty matchup,
- 7:40Speaker 3: the pitch, fastball strike, top of the zone. Cade Smith,
- 7:46Speaker 3: this postseason, a save, one run on two hits in
- 7:51Speaker 3: seven and two-thirds innings, 11 strikeouts, one walk. The pitch
- 7:56Speaker 3: fouled upstairs, and just like that, 0-2 on Yandy Diaz,
- 8:01Speaker 3: who's one for three, rifled a double to left center
- 8:04Speaker 3: in the fourth, and scored on the two-run triple by
- 8:08Speaker 3: Chandler Simpson. Now the set and the 0-2 delivery. Up
- 8:14Speaker 3: and in, one ball, two strikes. Hunter Gattis made nine
- 8:19Speaker 3: pitches in two-thirds of an inning, gave up a hit.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Outfield playing Diaz the other way toward right, medium deep.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Here's the delivery. Fouled it back. And will do it again.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And a ball and two strikes. Andy Diaz can hit
- 8:36Speaker 3: a fastball. Third in the American League batting race at 293.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Knocked in 85 from that leadoff spot. Wide open stance
- 8:45Speaker 3: to pitch. Fouled it back.
- 8:48Speaker 1: In on his.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Hands at 98 miles an hour he had a good
- 8:52Speaker 3: swing and this is where you've got to be able
- 8:57Speaker 3: to trust your catcher Patrick Bailey with a splitter in
- 9:00Speaker 3: the dirt tying run at third two down in the
- 9:03Speaker 3: eighth the set the pitch swung on fouled again upstairs
- 9:08Speaker 3: first base side what a battle.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Six pitches so far.
- 9:22Speaker 3: The outfield way around toward right.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Here's the pitch.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Swung and drilled. Foul third base side and hurtling it.
- 9:30Speaker 3: In foul ground was the runner at third, Jorge Mateo.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And boy, oh boy, has Yandy Diaz had some good swings.
- 9:39Speaker 3: That was on a splitter. But he wants a new bat.
- 9:45Speaker 3: So he slowly heads to the first base dugout. They're
- 9:54Speaker 3: on their feet at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Cleveland three. Tampa Bay two.
- 10:01Speaker 6: Runner in third.
- 10:02Speaker 3: The tying run in Mateo. Two down in the eighth.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Shadows covering home plate. And they're reaching the front of
- 10:12Speaker 3: the mound. Some streams of sunlight and shadows on the
- 10:17Speaker 3: mound from the roof line behind home plate. Diaz climbs
- 10:22Speaker 3: back in. Here's the set. Here's the one-two pitch. Just
- 10:28Speaker 3: missed up and in. Ball two, strike two. And pitch
- 10:35Speaker 3: number nine forthcoming. Here it comes. Swung on, drilled, fouled
- 10:46Speaker 3: down the left field line. And the count stays two
- 10:50Speaker 3: and two. They've had some classic at-bats this October. How
- 10:56Speaker 3: about Jake Bowers last night against Blake Snell? Now pitch
- 11:02Speaker 3: number 10. Swing and a miss. He got him. Cade
- 11:09Speaker 3: Smith strikes out Diaz to end the eighth. Got him
- 11:14Speaker 3: on the split finger. It's a 3-2 Cleveland lead. Bottom
- 11:19Speaker 3: of the eighth coming up.
- 11:22Speaker 11: At Cleveland Clinic, care is everything. So when your primary

- 13:07Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb, and I'm taking on the stories
- 13:09Speaker 2: that actually matter. After Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 13:18Speaker 3: We got to the bottom of the eighth. It's a
- 13:20Speaker 3: 3-2 Cleveland lead. Steven Mantz, second inning of work. And
- 13:25Speaker 3: let me make a correction. A 10-pitch at bat for
- 13:29Speaker 3: Yandy Diaz. And Kate Smith struck him out with a
- 13:33Speaker 3: tying run at third. It was a fastball that got
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yandy Diaz on the 10th pitch. To end that at
- 13:41Speaker 3: bat in the eighth. Now can Cleveland pick up an
- 13:45Speaker 3: insurance run? You look ahead to the ninth inning. It'll
- 13:50Speaker 3: be Aranda, Caminero, and Mesa. Two, three, and four in
- 13:54Speaker 3: the Rays' lineup. For Cleveland here in the eighth, top
- 13:58Speaker 3: of the order, Stephen Kwan 0 for 3. Stephen Matz,
- 14:02Speaker 3: the left-hander, lets it fly, and Kwan takes a called strike.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Stephen Matz. First postseason game for Tampa. Looking sharp, misses outside,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and the call will be challenged.
- 14:23Speaker 6: The ball call.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And another call that wasn't even close. Overturned, it was
- 14:35Speaker 3: a strike. So Bill Miller, top third as far as
- 14:41Speaker 3: the number of calls he had overturned this year, and
- 14:44Speaker 3: he's had a bunch here today. Now the 0-2 to Kwon.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Down and away, one ball, two strikes.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Number 49, Kwon.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Amazing how sharp Mance is. The pitch.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Swung and banged up the middle towards center. Diving stop.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Walls gets up.
- 15:09Speaker 13: Throws out Kwon.
- 15:11Speaker 3: What a play by Walls. Taylor Walls to his left.
- 15:17Speaker 3: A shortstop diving behind second. Popped to his feet and
- 15:22Speaker 3: robbed Stephen Kwon of a base hit to start the eighth.
- 15:26Speaker 3: That's as good as it gets at Jordan. One down
- 15:31Speaker 3: here is Jose Ramirez. He'll bat right-handed. Switch hitter. He'll
- 15:38Speaker 3: take a breaking ball strike. Steven Matz has not pitched
- 15:44Speaker 3: in a ball game since September 26th.
- 15:49Speaker 1: The pitch.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Swung on a weak chopper right side to his left.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Mateo Gloves, second baseman, throws out Ramirez. Mosey today, two singles,
- 16:01Speaker 3: a walk, and retired for the first time. Now left
- 16:05Speaker 3: on left, here's Chase DeLauder, 0 for 3. You think
- 16:12Speaker 3: of what Mance is doing here to help save the Rays' bullpen.
- 16:17Speaker 3: The guy that's had 18 days of rest, but he
- 16:22Speaker 3: hasn't had any command issues. First pitch strike on the
- 16:26Speaker 3: outside corner. Two down, nobody on. We're in the bottom
- 16:30Speaker 3: of the eighth inning. Cleveland three, Tampa Bay two. Series
- 16:34Speaker 3: tie to win a piece. Breeze still blowing in.
- 16:38Speaker 1: The pitch. Swing and a foul back.
- 16:41Speaker 16: 0-2.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Right now the pitcher starts on the rubber in Sunshine.
- 16:49Speaker 3: And as he comes to the front of the mound
- 16:51Speaker 3: with his landing area and delivering the baseball, ends up
- 16:54Speaker 3: in the shade.
- 16:56Speaker 1: The pitch.
- 16:57Speaker 3: And it's down low. Matz thought he might have had
- 17:01Speaker 3: a strike, but no challenge. One ball, two strikes. Two down,
- 17:07Speaker 3: eighth inning, 3-2 Cleveland. Now the set. Now the pitch.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Up high, 2-2.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Petey opens. Two-run homer to right center in the fifth.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Put Cleveland in the lead 3-2. It's stayed that way since.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Now the 2-2. Swing and a foul tip into the
- 17:35Speaker 3: catcher's mitt. Man's perfect in the two innings he's worked.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Can Cade Smith continue his brilliant run of closing games?
- 17:44Speaker 1: We'll find out after this timeout. 3-2 Cleveland.
- 17:48Speaker 3: The ninth is next on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 17:53Speaker 1: That small roof league may not seem... Hey, it's Ron Verb.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I'm saying what everyone else won't after Guardians Baseball on
- 17:59Speaker 2: 570 WKBN.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Angel Hanau will come on to play second base for Cleveland.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It's the ninth inning.
- 18:14Speaker 3: 3-2 Cleveland. The winner of this game has a two
- 18:18Speaker 3: games to one lead. And will be two wins away
- 18:22Speaker 3: from a World Series berth. Milwaukee tonight in Los Angeles
- 18:27Speaker 3: up three zip. And the Brewers now have four chances
- 18:33Speaker 3: to win one game. And get to their first World
- 18:36Speaker 3: Series in 44 years. For Cade Smith, this will be
- 18:44Speaker 3: a rugged test. Aranda, Caminero, Mesa. Camon struck out Diaz
- 18:52Speaker 3: with a tying run at third and the eighth. Aranda
- 18:55Speaker 3: left-handed power hitter. The pitch, and it's outside a ball.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Breeze still blowing in from right.
- 19:01Speaker 6: The catcher is challenging the ball call.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Cleveland will challenge the call. And it was a ball.
- 19:10Speaker 6: Cleveland has one challenge remaining.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Cleveland, one challenge remaining. Same with Tampa. Cade Smith out
- 19:19Speaker 3: of Vancouver. Collegiately at the University of Hawaii. The pitch
- 19:24Speaker 3: hit in the air. Medium deep center. Petey helping.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Grabbing it.
- 19:28Speaker 3: One down. Now the guy that you fear the most.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Junior Caminero. Second in the American League with 42 bombs.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Fifth in the American League in OPS at 884.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Third in the.
- 19:48Speaker 3: American League with 101 RBIs. Three strikeouts today. The pitch,
- 19:55Speaker 3: and it's in there. Called strike, split finger. Gavin Williams
- 20:02Speaker 3: went the first five, gave up two runs, struck out nine.
- 20:06Speaker 1: The pitch, swing and a miss.
- 20:08Speaker 6: What a splitter.
- 20:10Speaker 17: 0-2.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Daniel Espino, Eric Sabrowski. Each a scoreless inning. Hunter Gattis,
- 20:16Speaker 3: two-thirds of a scoreless inning. Cade Smith trying to get
- 20:20Speaker 3: a four-out save. Nobody sitting at the corner of Carnegie
- 20:24Speaker 3: and Ontario. Now the 0-2 delivery. Down low, a split finger.
- 20:31Speaker 3: That's a heck of a take by Caminero. One ball,
- 20:35Speaker 3: two strikes. Now the 1-2 offering.
- 20:47Speaker 18: Swing!
- 20:49Speaker 1: And the miss!
- 20:50Speaker 3: He tied him up inside with the hard stuff. Cabanero
- 20:54Speaker 3: strikes out for the fourth time today. The Rays are
- 20:59Speaker 3: down to their last out. Two down, nobody on. Ninth
- 21:04Speaker 3: inning in Cleveland. On top, 3-2. Here's Victor Mesa Jr.
- 21:10Speaker 3: with good power.
- 21:10Speaker 15: 0-2 a walk.
- 21:13Speaker 1: The pitch.
- 21:14Speaker 6: It's high.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It's wide. It's ball one. Now the 1-0 pitch. Swung on.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Hit in the air to left. Twisting down the line. Foul.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Kwon in foul territory. He made the catch. Ball game.
- 21:38Speaker 3: And the Guardians take a two games to one lead.
- 21:43Speaker 3: As Cade Smith with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
- 21:47Speaker 1: A four out save. Petey helping.
- 21:52Speaker 3: With what proves to be a game winning two run
- 21:55Speaker 3: homer to right center.
- 21:58Speaker 1: In the fifth inning.
- 22:00Speaker 3: And the Guardians with another white knuckle win.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Have knocked off the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 22:08Speaker 3: 3-2 and are now two wins away from a berth
- 22:13Speaker 3: in the fall classic. High fives all around the third
- 22:20Speaker 3: base area as the Guardians come to their dugout. The
- 22:25Speaker 3: only ominous sign, the tarp being rolled out and will
- 22:30Speaker 3: soon cover the field because of the Inclement weather that
- 22:35Speaker 3: seems to be right around the corner. But we'll worry
- 22:39Speaker 3: about that at another time. Guardians fans will soak it up.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Cleveland with a 3-2 win today. And now lead this
- 22:48Speaker 3: best of seven series. Two games to one. We are
- 22:56Speaker 3: going to go down to the Cleveland Guardians dugout. And
- 23:02Speaker 3: I do believe we have Kate Smith joining us.
- 23:05Speaker 6: Not quite.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Trying to look.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Oh, it's Nathaniel Lowe. I saw the number six.
- 23:11Speaker 1: What's up, baby?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Nathaniel Lowe, who got Cleveland on the board.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I apologize, Nathaniel. No problem.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Had that RBI double in the second inning. Wow, what
- 23:22Speaker 3: a playoff win, Nathaniel. Oh, yeah, that was a good
- 23:24Speaker 3: one right there. We did a great job, man. Well
- 23:26Speaker 3: pitched and timely hitting. That one felt good. Nathaniel, you're
- 23:31Speaker 3: up there after a walk to Joe Adele, and you
- 23:33Speaker 3: were extremely aggressive.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Tell us about the plan that allowed you to drive
- 23:37Speaker 1: in the run.
- 23:37Speaker 19: Yeah, you know, I got beat the other day on
- 23:39Speaker 19: some fastballs, and today I had to get the first
- 23:41Speaker 19: fastball that I could do some damage with, and thankfully
- 23:44Speaker 19: it was the first pitch he threw me.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So Joe did a great job.
- 23:47Speaker 19: At the bottom of the zone there, making sure that
- 23:49Speaker 19: balls were called balls, and then with a runner on base,
- 23:52Speaker 19: you just got to move it forward the best you can,
- 23:54Speaker 19: and thankfully it skipped away from the right fielder. We
- 23:56Speaker 19: got to touch the plate.
- 23:57Speaker 3: We got one more for you, Nathaniel. What makes this
- 24:00Speaker 3: club special? You've been here now for a couple of months. Man,
- 24:03Speaker 3: we could win a game anyway. We could jump out early.
- 24:07Speaker 3: We could battle back and forth. I think we do
- 24:09Speaker 3: a great job with come from behind wins. These guys
- 24:12Speaker 3: are ready to win.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You have been one of the critical acquisitions. Congratulations, Nathaniel.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Nathaniel Lowe joining us. We appreciate his time with us.
- 24:24Speaker 3: These guys are in such demand. They just go from
- 24:27Speaker 3: one headset to another. And the Guardians are victorious here
- 24:32Speaker 3: today by a final score of 3-2. We'll be right back.
- 24:38Speaker 13: Hon, is your new pinball machine in our budget?

- 24:56Speaker 1: in case you had any checking account questions.
- 24:58Speaker 13: Steve, you're always there for us.
- 25:00Speaker 22: Now, how quickly can we open that account?

- 26:24Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb, and my show is all about
- 26:26Speaker 2: the Valley after Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 26:33Speaker 3: My goodness, what a ballgame. 3-2 Cleveland is a winner
- 26:38Speaker 3: here today. The only damage that was done off a
- 26:44Speaker 3: Cleveland pitcher was a two-out, two-run triple by Chandler Simpson
- 26:51Speaker 3: in the fourth inning. And that gave Tampa their only
- 26:54Speaker 3: lead at 2-1. Cleveland had scored in the second when
- 26:58Speaker 3: Joe Adele walked in. Nathaniel Lowe smoked an RBI double
- 27:03Speaker 3: to right. And then after the Simpson two-run triple in
- 27:07Speaker 3: the fourth, the lead was short-lived because in the fifth,
- 27:11Speaker 3: Petey Helpin crushed a two-run home run to right center
- 27:16Speaker 3: to give Cleveland a 3-2 lead, and that would be
- 27:19Speaker 3: the last run scored in this game. Cleveland pitching held
- 27:25Speaker 3: Tampa to two runs and three hits, and Cleveland pitching
- 27:30Speaker 3: today struck out 13 Rays Tampa, the hardest team in
- 27:36Speaker 3: baseball to strike out. Tampa had struck out 14 times
- 27:41Speaker 3: total in the first two games combined, and Cleveland got
- 27:45Speaker 3: 13 strikeouts today, nine by Gavin Williams in another brilliant
- 27:50Speaker 3: five-inning effort. Guardians win 3-2. They lead two games to one,
- 27:56Speaker 3: and we'll be back with the final numbers right after this.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Is your comments you'll want to hear. After Guardians Baseball
- 28:05Speaker 2: on 570 WKBN.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Back here in downtown Cleveland, here are the happy totals,
- 28:14Speaker 3: Guardians fans. The Cleveland Guardians. Three runs, six hits, no errors.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Three left. Tampa Bay, two runs, three hits, no errors.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Two stranded. Gavin Williams, the win. He's 2-0 this October.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Second save of the postseason for Cade Smith. And Griffin
- 28:32Speaker 3: Jacks takes the loss.
- 28:34Speaker 2: He's 0-1.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Time of the game, two hours, 28 minutes. 30,101 watched it.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Cleveland now with a two games to one lead in
- 28:44Speaker 3: this best of seven American League Championship Series series. Guardians
- 28:48Speaker 3: need two more wins to have a date in October
- 28:52Speaker 3: against either Milwaukee or Los Angeles. And right now the
- 28:56Speaker 3: Brewers up three games to none. They'll try to win
- 28:59Speaker 3: the National League pennant tonight at Dodger Stadium. Stay tuned
- 29:04Speaker 3: as Rosie has the wrap-up show. That is coming your
- 29:08Speaker 3: way next. This is Tom Hamilton. We don't know when
- 29:11Speaker 3: we'll talk to you again, as obviously Mother Nature will
- 29:16Speaker 3: determine whether we're playing sometime tomorrow or if we're playing
- 29:22Speaker 3: Saturday and Sunday. Nobody knows right now. We have not
- 29:25Speaker 3: been told anything, but obviously we will let you know
- 29:28Speaker 3: as soon as we know. And as we all know,
- 29:31Speaker 3: October in Northeast Ohio. Good luck trying to predict it.
- 29:36Speaker 3: But heck, enjoy it, folks. Cleveland has... a two games
- 29:40Speaker 3: to one lead. This is Tom Hamilton. Once again, the
- 29:44Speaker 3: final score, three to two. Guardians win it. So long, everybody.

- 30:57Speaker 28: Another TV ad from liberal Amy Acton and her Washington
- 31:01Speaker 28: friends lying about Vivek Ramaswamy.
- 31:03Speaker 29: Why?
- 31:04Speaker 28: Because they are desperate and they are hiding from the truth.
- 31:08Speaker 28: Amy Acton has no real plan to protect Ohio seniors. Instead,
- 31:12Speaker 28: her extreme government spending agenda would cost Ohioans $ 21 billion,
- 31:17Speaker 28: putting an even greater burden on seniors already struggling with
- 31:20Speaker 28: higher prices. That is why Acton refuses to debate Vivek Ramaswamy.
- 31:25Speaker 28: She knows Ohioans would see her bad ideas for exactly
- 31:28Speaker 28: what they are. Vivek has real solutions to help seniors
- 31:32Speaker 28: get ahead, not fall behind. As governor, Vivek will roll
- 31:36Speaker 28: back property taxes to pre-pandemic levels, crack down on Medicaid fraud,
- 31:40Speaker 28: and help lower costs for seniors. And he will fight
- 31:43Speaker 28: to keep Washington from touching Social Security. Because a promise
- 31:47Speaker 28: made should be a promise kept. Protecting Ohio seniors. Vivek
- 31:51Speaker 28: Ramaswamy for governor.

- 32:37Speaker 3: Good afternoon once again, everyone. Welcome back to Progressive Field,
- 32:40Speaker 3: downtown Cleveland. Jim Rosenhouse along with you for Guardians Wrap-Up.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Following a 3-2 Cleveland win over Tampa Bay in Game 3.
- 32:50Speaker 3: of the American League Championship Series. So much to get
- 32:53Speaker 3: to on the wrap-up show, including all the highlights of
- 32:56Speaker 3: a nail-biter in downtown Cleveland. We'll also hear from manager
- 33:01Speaker 3: Steven Vogt, maybe some others as well. But first, a
- 33:04Speaker 3: look at the out-of-town scores, and one other game, it's
- 33:07Speaker 3: later tonight, game one. Four of the National League Championship
- 33:12Speaker 3: Series at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers trying to stave off elimination.
- 33:16Speaker 3: The Brewers can wrap it up tonight with a win.
- 33:18Speaker 3: That's an 8 p.m. start in L.A. Right here, a
- 33:22Speaker 3: thriller this afternoon. Cleveland a 3-2 winner over the Rays.
- 33:26Speaker 3: We'll have the highlights and manager Steven Vogt next. Welcome back.
- 33:32Speaker 3: It's Guardians Wrap-Up from Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland. And
- 33:36Speaker 3: one of the fun things about postseason with all of
- 33:38Speaker 3: the national TV here, a lot of them doing their
- 33:42Speaker 3: postgame shows from the field. And they're down the left
- 33:45Speaker 3: field line here. And a crowd of Cleveland fans waiting
- 33:48Speaker 3: to see which player is going to come out and
- 33:50Speaker 3: join them. And they are reveling in a 3-2 win
- 33:54Speaker 3: here this afternoon. As you'd expect, good pitching on both sides.
- 33:58Speaker 3: And the Guardians were able to grab an early lead
- 34:00Speaker 3: in this one. In the second inning, Joe Adele with
- 34:03Speaker 3: a leadoff walk. That brought Nathaniel Lowe to the plate.
- 34:07Speaker 1: The pitch. And he drips one into right field. Base hit.
- 34:10Speaker 3: One hop up against the wall. Lowe on his way
- 34:14Speaker 3: to second. Adele hits third. He's coming home. Throw to
- 34:17Speaker 3: the plate. Hit first slide.
- 34:19Speaker 1: He scores. And a fist bump for Adele.
- 34:23Speaker 15: And an RBI touchdown.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Double for Nathaniel Lowe.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Lowe has his third hit, third RBI in the championship series.
- 34:33Speaker 3: A one-hop screamer between the right fielder and the foul line.
- 34:40Speaker 1: One hop up against the wall.
- 34:43Speaker 3: And scoring from first is Joe Adele after the leadoff walk.
- 34:47Speaker 3: And Cleveland strikes first and leads 1-0. And all of
- 34:52Speaker 3: a sudden a pitching visit from the outstanding pitching coach
- 34:57Speaker 3: of the Rays, Kyle Snyder. It stayed 1-0 until the fourth.
- 35:03Speaker 3: That's when the Rays would grab a lead after a
- 35:06Speaker 3: double from Yandy Diaz led things off facing Gavin Williams.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Williams came back, struck out the next two, but he
- 35:12Speaker 3: walked Victor Mesa Jr., and with two down, Chandler Simpson
- 35:16Speaker 3: delivered a two-run triple into the right field corner, and
- 35:20Speaker 3: that made it a 2-1 Tampa Bay lead. On we
- 35:24Speaker 3: went to the bottom half of the fifth inning, but
- 35:26Speaker 3: in the top half of the fifth, Williams rebounded after
- 35:29Speaker 3: allowing the two runs in the fourth. And what would
- 35:32Speaker 3: turn out to be his last batter, it was Taylor Walls,
- 35:34Speaker 3: the shortstop. Williams at 69 pitches.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Here's the 2-2. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Got
- 35:42Speaker 1: him to chase a breaking ball. Side retired in order.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Number nine for Gavin Williams in the strikeout column. And
- 35:50Speaker 3: we will head to the bottom half of the fifth inning.
- 35:52Speaker 3: It's Tampa Bay 2, the Guardians 1. So a real
- 35:56Speaker 3: solid effort from Gavin Williams finishing. with those nine strikeouts
- 36:01Speaker 3: over his five innings of work, but he left trailing
- 36:03Speaker 3: by a score of 2-1, but it did not stay
- 36:06Speaker 3: that way for long. Bottom of the fifth inning, Patrick
- 36:09Speaker 3: Bailey led it off with an infield single, a chopper
- 36:13Speaker 3: that went way up in the air, and then trying
- 36:15Speaker 3: to retrieve it behind the mound was Griffin Jacks, the
- 36:19Speaker 3: starting pitcher for the Rays. And he couldn't come up
- 36:22Speaker 3: with it. Bailey would have been safe anyway. So he
- 36:24Speaker 3: was aboard as P.D. Halpin dug in. Here's the pitch
- 36:28Speaker 3: to Halpin.
- 36:29Speaker 1: He swings and drives it. High and deep. Right field.
- 36:32Speaker 30: Home run Halpin.
- 36:40Speaker 1: One swing. And the Guardians are now in the lead.
- 36:46Speaker 1: 3-2 Cleveland. And Petey Halpin.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Continues to have a postseason to remember. What a moment
- 36:57Speaker 3: for Halpin. And the Guardians had a 3-2 lead. And
- 37:01Speaker 3: that would be it in terms of runs scored today.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Both bullpens were terrific. And, of course, for the Guardians
- 37:08Speaker 3: at the end. It was Cade Smith. Now the 1-0 pitch.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Swung on, hit in the air to left. Twisting down
- 37:15Speaker 3: the line, foul. Kwon in foul territory.
- 37:21Speaker 15: He made the catch!
- 37:24Speaker 6: Ball game!
- 37:25Speaker 3: And the Guardians take a two games to one lead
- 37:28Speaker 3: as Cade Smith with a 1-2-3 ninth inning. A four
- 37:33Speaker 3: out save. Petey help it. with what proves to be
- 37:38Speaker 3: a game-winning two-run homer to right center in the fifth inning.
- 37:44Speaker 3: And the Guardians, with another white-knuckle win, have knocked off
- 37:49Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 and are now two wins
- 37:55Speaker 3: away from a berth in the Fall Classic. So a
- 38:01Speaker 3: hard-fought one-run win for the Guardians, who take a two-games-to-one
- 38:05Speaker 3: lead now in this best-of-seven American League Championship Series, going
- 38:10Speaker 3: about the way most expected, too. And who knows? Maybe
- 38:14Speaker 3: we are headed back to St. Petersburg at some point
- 38:16Speaker 3: for games six and seven. But the Guardians still in
- 38:19Speaker 3: command now with a two-games-to-one lead and a chance to
- 38:22Speaker 3: finish the series here in Cleveland. Final line for Tampa Bay.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Two runs, three hits, no errors. Two men left on base.
- 38:29Speaker 3: For the Guardians, three runs, six hits, no errors. Three
- 38:33Speaker 3: men left stranded. The winning pitcher, Gavin Williams, now 2-0
- 38:37Speaker 3: in the postseason. A save for Cade Smith, his second.
- 38:40Speaker 3: And the loss going to Griffin Jacks, who falls to 0-1.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Time of the game, two hours, 28 minutes. Paid crowd,
- 38:50Speaker 3: 30,101 here at Progressive Field.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Stay with us.
- 38:53Speaker 3: We'll hear from manager Stephen Vogt next.

- 40:59Speaker 3: you from progressive field following a three to two guardians
- 41:03Speaker 3: win over tampa bay in game three of the american
- 41:05Speaker 3: league championship series let's head down to the media room
- 41:08Speaker 3: and hear from manager steven votes.
- 41:10Speaker 5: P opens that bat and just the moment that was
- 41:13Speaker 5: created because of that yeah it's really cool i'm really
- 41:15Speaker 5: happy for pd um you know it's second time he's
- 41:19Speaker 5: kind of picked picked us up in a big spot
- 41:21Speaker 5: this year and Really fun moment for him.
- 41:23Speaker 22: Great swing.
- 41:24Speaker 34: He's had great at-bats this series. I really like the
- 41:26Speaker 34: way he's approaching it. He's getting some hits. It's a
- 41:30Speaker 34: lot of fun to watch.
- 41:34Speaker 29: Thank you, Gavin.
- 41:35Speaker 16: Nine strikeouts for him today.
- 41:38Speaker 34: Gavin was outstanding again. Everything we could ask and more.
- 41:42Speaker 34: One mistake and Simpson made him pay for it. I
- 41:46Speaker 34: thought Gavin threw the ball excellent. Probably could have gone longer,
- 41:50Speaker 34: but His velo started to drop there in the fifth,
- 41:53Speaker 34: and what we just asked him to do over the weekend,
- 41:55Speaker 34: out of abundance of caution and in fairness to him,
- 41:57Speaker 34: it felt like it was time to move away from him.
- 42:00Speaker 34: Like I said, he probably could have kept going, but
- 42:01Speaker 34: with the velo drop there in the fifth, we just
- 42:03Speaker 34: wanted to be as safe and smart as possible.
- 42:06Speaker 22: Go on the left, Paul. Is that the highest bad
- 42:10Speaker 22: flip you've ever seen? I didn't see it or watch it.
- 42:13Speaker 34: I just saw the replay and saw how little it
- 42:15Speaker 34: went out by.
- 42:15Speaker 22: Yeah, so I'm glad it cleared the wall.
- 42:19Speaker 5: Good line, Paul and Natalie.
- 42:21Speaker 35: Um, the bullpen itself has been great for you guys,
- 42:25Speaker 35: but can you speak about Kate Smith and just what,
- 42:28Speaker 35: you know, you're asked a little more of him in
- 42:30Speaker 35: the eighth and some of these games and how that's,
- 42:33Speaker 35: you know, he's produced for you.
- 42:35Speaker 34: Again, like you said, our bullpen as a whole has
- 42:37Speaker 34: been phenomenal all year. And Cade, um, he has thrown
- 42:40Speaker 34: so much over this last week, week and a half,
- 42:42Speaker 34: and he's, he's prepared.
- 42:44Speaker 22: He's ready.
- 42:44Speaker 34: You know, we had the two days off, so we
- 42:46Speaker 34: felt like we could get more than three outs from him.
- 42:48Speaker 34: And Yandy Diaz, what an unbelievable at bat and battle
- 42:50Speaker 34: that was. And, uh, But for him to come back
- 42:52Speaker 34: out and get three quick outs, that's what Cade does.
- 42:54Speaker 22: He's efficient, and he's ready to take the ball.
- 42:57Speaker 36: Third row middle.
- 42:58Speaker 4: I know it's uncontrollable for you guys, really, but the
- 43:01Speaker 4: time change moving up to 1 o'clock and then kind
- 43:03Speaker 4: of uncertainty with the weather in these next couple days.
- 43:05Speaker 4: How is your team responding to that uncertainty and that
- 43:08Speaker 4: uncontrollable factor in this series?
- 43:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it is what it is.
- 43:12Speaker 22: We stay ready. Our guys are ready to go at
- 43:14Speaker 22: all times.
- 43:15Speaker 34: And, you know, with the time change, didn't really throw
- 43:18Speaker 34: a whole lot of wrinkle coming off an off day
- 43:19Speaker 34: and Obviously, with everything up in the air for tomorrow,
- 43:22Speaker 34: we're going to be prepared to play whatever time, whatever place.
- 43:25Speaker 22: Our guys stay ready.
- 43:27Speaker 37: What do you think Halpin has brought to the occasion
- 43:31Speaker 37: here in the postseason? He's a young guy. He had
- 43:35Speaker 37: it up and down regular season.
- 43:37Speaker 22: He's ready. He's ready for whatever we ask him to do.
- 43:42Speaker 34: He got called up when everybody got hurt and he
- 43:45Speaker 34: played an everyday role for us for a while and
- 43:46Speaker 34: then it kind of turned into a defensive replacement and
- 43:48Speaker 34: then filling in for injured guys. He just wants to
- 43:52Speaker 34: play and he wants to contribute. For him, I don't
- 43:56Speaker 34: feel like any moment ever gets too big for him.
- 43:58Speaker 34: He's just ready and he loves playing and he wants
- 44:00Speaker 34: to help the team win. It's really fun when you
- 44:02Speaker 34: see somebody like that step up for their teammates.
- 44:05Speaker 22: What's it like in the dugout when something like that happens?
- 44:09Speaker 34: We all go nuts. You see it with every postseason team.
- 44:12Speaker 34: These guys want to win.
- 44:13Speaker 22: All these teams. We're no different than anybody else and
- 44:17Speaker 22: It gets exciting.
- 44:18Speaker 34: Everyone's playing to win the game, and when one of
- 44:21Speaker 34: your boys steps up and gets a big hit, especially
- 44:23Speaker 34: a PD who, like I've mentioned all year, has become
- 44:27Speaker 34: somewhat of a leader on this team. As funny as
- 44:29Speaker 34: that sounds with just a little bit of time, but
- 44:32Speaker 34: the boys really respond to him, so that gets us juiced.
- 44:36Speaker 23: Stephen, you guys have had your peaks and valleys with
- 44:39Speaker 23: ABS this year, but how good was it? for Joe
- 44:43Speaker 23: on that strike two to challenge it and then the
- 44:46Speaker 23: walk to lead to a two-run inning.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's huge.
- 44:49Speaker 34: I mean, I feel like we've been really good in
- 44:51Speaker 34: the second half. We've used them at the right times,
- 44:53Speaker 34: maybe not used as many as we could have, but
- 44:55Speaker 34: that was a big spot right there, and he used
- 44:58Speaker 34: it well.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Staying a little friendly.
- 45:00Speaker 33: You mentioned Petey kind of having a leadership role, but
- 45:02Speaker 33: we've also seen guys like Travis and Chase. Who is
- 45:05Speaker 33: that guy in the clubhouse who isn't the rookie who's
- 45:08Speaker 33: enabling them that confidence to feel like they can step up.
- 45:10Speaker 1: And do that?
- 45:12Speaker 34: The easy answer is everybody. It starts with Hedgie. It
- 45:16Speaker 34: starts with Hosey. Kwon, David Fry. Those are the leaders.
- 45:21Speaker 34: But no matter who walks in those doors, they know
- 45:23Speaker 34: that they're here to help us win. They get embraced
- 45:25Speaker 34: right away and go be yourself.
- 45:28Speaker 22: There's no pecking order. There's no hierarchy.
- 45:30Speaker 34: This is about 26 guys coming together and playing hard
- 45:32Speaker 34: every day.
- 45:35Speaker 16: As a team that likes to cause chaos on the
- 45:36Speaker 16: base pass and Hicks throwing out guys the way he is,
- 45:38Speaker 16: I know you guys want to stay aggressive. Is there
- 45:40Speaker 16: any adjustments or anything else you need to tell the
- 45:42Speaker 16: guys as they're getting on base and trying to cause
- 45:44Speaker 16: that chaos?
- 45:45Speaker 22: No, we went at the right times.
- 45:46Speaker 34: Hicks made two really good throws today, so credit to him.
- 45:49Speaker 34: And we're going to continue to be us. We have
- 45:51Speaker 34: to push the envelope. We need to stay aggressive, put
- 45:53Speaker 34: pressure on them. But credit to Hicks. He made two
- 45:56Speaker 34: really good throws today.
- 45:59Speaker 38: Steven, you mentioned wanting to be fair to Gavin after
- 46:01Speaker 38: what he did in the last round. As you're mapping
- 46:05Speaker 38: out the game today, how does that workload factor into
- 46:08Speaker 38: how you're thinking about what you want to do pitching
- 46:11Speaker 38: side today and planning his usage?
- 46:14Speaker 34: Yeah, I think when we go into the game, we
- 46:17Speaker 34: have a limit that everybody has. His was a little
- 46:20Speaker 34: lighter today, just with what he did over the weekend,
- 46:22Speaker 34: but you also have to watch the game. They'll tell
- 46:25Speaker 34: you when they're getting tired, or they'll tell you when
- 46:28Speaker 34: things aren't starting to go well, but for Gavin, again,
- 46:31Speaker 34: the first four innings, he looked sharp, sharp, and he
- 46:34Speaker 34: still looked sharp in the fifth. I just didn't like
- 46:36Speaker 34: the velo drop, and so he's feeling fine. We just
- 46:39Speaker 34: got to Got to get him out of there at
- 46:41Speaker 34: the right time.
- 46:42Speaker 22: Come back to left.
- 46:44Speaker 26: A lot's talked about Kate Smith's routine.
- 46:47Speaker 23: What's your favorite aspect of just the way he prepares himself?
- 46:51Speaker 22: It's the same every day. He does not waver. He
- 46:53Speaker 22: does not change.
- 46:56Speaker 34: He's as diligent. If there's 170 games or something like
- 47:02Speaker 34: that now, 170 days he's been on the same routine
- 47:05Speaker 34: and probably spring training as well. When you stay consistent
- 47:08Speaker 34: with your routines, you get consistent performance.
- 47:15Speaker 38: Have you named a starter yet?
- 47:16Speaker 17: No.
- 47:17Speaker 34: With the game just ending and with uncertainty tomorrow, we
- 47:19Speaker 34: need to kind of work through some things. We should
- 47:21Speaker 34: have a starter announced soon, but with the game just ending,
- 47:25Speaker 34: we haven't had time to work through what we're going
- 47:27Speaker 34: to do.
- 47:29Speaker 16: It wasn't a sellout because of the time change, but
- 47:32Speaker 16: what did you think of the crowd?
- 47:33Speaker 22: The crowd was unbelievable.
- 47:34Speaker 34: I really appreciate everybody changing their work schedules and moving
- 47:38Speaker 34: things around to be here to support us because we
- 47:39Speaker 34: feed off of our fans and It was a great crowd.
- 47:42Speaker 22: We didn't know what to expect. Obviously, people have life,
- 47:45Speaker 22: and we understand that.
- 47:47Speaker 34: So to see that many fans show up at 1
- 47:49Speaker 34: o'clock on a Thursday, I think that's huge for us.
- 47:58Speaker 3: And some bonus coverage for you this afternoon. The home
- 48:01Speaker 3: run hero in this one was Petey Halpin. He's downstairs
- 48:04Speaker 3: as well.
- 48:06Speaker 5: Home run, kind of looking at it, and then you
- 48:09Speaker 5: probably throw the bat maybe higher than you ever have.
- 48:11Speaker 5: What was going through your mind, and did you notice
- 48:14Speaker 5: how high you threw the bat?
- 48:15Speaker 17: You know, I looked at it after. I definitely threw
- 48:18Speaker 17: it high. I think just the moment and, like, you know,
- 48:21Speaker 17: that being for sure the biggest moment of my career,
- 48:23Speaker 17: just the energy.
- 48:24Speaker 26: And the excitement, just kind of let it go.
- 48:30Speaker 16: Steven just told us he didn't see the bat flip.
- 48:31Speaker 16: He saw the ball barely. What was your perspective on that?
- 48:37Speaker 17: I do want to hit it good, and I thought
- 48:38Speaker 17: I got more of it, I guess, and maybe I
- 48:41Speaker 17: was a little tense, and when it got out, I
- 48:42Speaker 17: kind of threw it, but it's only got to go,
- 48:44Speaker 17: you know, a little bit over the wall, so that
- 48:46Speaker 17: was cool.
- 48:47Speaker 21: Petey, when you get the dugout afterwards, it seems like the.
- 48:51Speaker 16: The group's just going crazy.
- 48:53Speaker 26: What has that energy been like for you and the
- 48:55Speaker 26: team around you? It was awesome.
- 48:56Speaker 17: You get to feed off of each other, right? You know,
- 48:58Speaker 17: when anyone does their job and gets the job done
- 49:00Speaker 17: and puts us in a position to win, like, everyone
- 49:02Speaker 17: on the team's juiced. It's not about me or, like,
- 49:06Speaker 17: that home run, but it's just the fact.
- 49:07Speaker 26: That we're winning and we keep rolling.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Off that specifically, there's a clip of Stephen Kwan jumping
- 49:15Speaker 4: up and down. Did you get to see any of
- 49:17Speaker 4: that reaction over there before you went over to him?
- 49:19Speaker 1: Not.
- 49:20Speaker 29: Not yet.
- 49:20Speaker 26: I haven't really dove in. I saw the bat flip, though,
- 49:22Speaker 26: because I knew that it was pretty high.
- 49:25Speaker 17: But besides that, I haven't looked at it.
- 49:29Speaker 33: Before all of the celebrations and the big swing, can
- 49:33Speaker 33: you just tell us about that at bat in itself?
- 49:35Speaker 24: Because Griffin Jacks had been rolling.
- 49:36Speaker 33: You guys got a pretty good chunk out of him
- 49:38Speaker 33: that inning and what you saw in that sinker?
- 49:41Speaker 17: Yeah, you know, I knew that he used the sinker
- 49:43Speaker 17: in a few times to lefties before, kind of as
- 49:45Speaker 17: a strikeout pitch was going in.
- 49:48Speaker 26: I was on fastball. I was on hard timing, you know,
- 49:50Speaker 26: trying to.
- 49:51Speaker 17: Get the head out and it all worked out. He
- 49:54Speaker 17: left it over the plate a little bit and I
- 49:55Speaker 17: was able to make a good swing.
- 49:58Speaker 2: This is an eight teammate.
- 49:59Speaker 3: What's it like for you to watch this run that
- 50:01Speaker 3: Gavin Williams is on lately?
- 50:02Speaker 22: It's unbelievable.
- 50:04Speaker 26: He's an absolute horse.
- 50:05Speaker 17: He goes out there, he dominates the throw strikes, puts
- 50:07Speaker 17: us in a position to win every time he pitches.
- 50:10Speaker 26: You can't ask for more out of a guy. Same
- 50:12Speaker 26: guy every day.
- 50:14Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about how you've
- 50:16Speaker 5: become more of a leader this year. What has allowed
- 50:19Speaker 5: you as such a young age to feel confident in
- 50:22Speaker 5: yourself and then just comfortable in that role?
- 50:24Speaker 17: It's about the guys around and how from day one
- 50:29Speaker 17: I felt so comfortable being here, and they let you
- 50:32Speaker 17: be who you are, and we feed off of each
- 50:34Speaker 17: other's energy, whatever that is, and it's just such a
- 50:36Speaker 17: good group of guys that it's a lot of fun
- 50:38Speaker 17: to show up to work every day and play baseball.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Daryl in the front.
- 50:42Speaker 16: What is it about you guys, every time it feels
- 50:45Speaker 16: like the opposition steals momentum from you, one of you
- 50:50Speaker 16: finds a way to regain it. What is it about
- 50:52Speaker 16: this club that no matter what gets thrown at you,
- 50:56Speaker 16: you guys always find a way to bounce back?
- 50:58Speaker 26: Just trusting each other. You know, if it wasn't me,
- 51:00Speaker 26: it was going to be somebody else.
- 51:02Speaker 17: Just having that faith and having that trust that somebody's
- 51:05Speaker 17: going to get the job done, and it takes kind
- 51:07Speaker 17: of some pressure off of you.
- 51:08Speaker 26: I'm like, hey, if I don't do it, somebody else will.
- 51:11Speaker 10: Great.
- 51:12Speaker 29: Sean?
- 51:13Speaker 38: P.D., as you're watching the duel between Cade and Yandy
- 51:16Speaker 38: there in the eighth from center field, how are you
- 51:18Speaker 38: seeing that play out? What are you thinking as it's developing?
- 51:21Speaker 26: That was a great at-bat.
- 51:22Speaker 17: I mean, just putting up that kind of a bat
- 51:24Speaker 17: against Cade was impressive in itself, and just watching him, like, ripping,
- 51:28Speaker 17: you know, right-on-right splitters to pull aside.
- 51:32Speaker 26: It was just like, this is competitive baseball. This is
- 51:34Speaker 26: the best that it gets, and it's fun to be
- 51:36Speaker 26: part of.
- 51:36Speaker 17: Back left, John.
- 51:38Speaker 37: What has it meant to the rookie to get this
- 51:40Speaker 37: opportunity to play in the postseason here the last three,
- 51:44Speaker 37: four games?
- 51:45Speaker 26: It's been awesome to have that trust.
- 51:47Speaker 17: I think from the first game on game five where
- 51:49Speaker 17: I started, just knowing that that vote had that trust
- 51:53Speaker 17: in me and the rest of the staff, it gave
- 51:55Speaker 17: me confidence to be like.
- 51:56Speaker 26: If they know I can do it, then I can
- 51:58Speaker 26: do it. I have no fear.
- 52:01Speaker 21: The PD chants keep getting louder and louder in energy
- 52:04Speaker 21: at Progressive Field seems to carry you guys along.
- 52:07Speaker 38: How important is that in the postseason?
- 52:08Speaker 26: It's great.
- 52:09Speaker 17: Just having as much momentum as we can possibly have
- 52:12Speaker 17: and being able to feed off of that, feed off
- 52:15Speaker 17: the crowd, feed off the energy.
- 52:16Speaker 22: It's a lot of.
- 52:20Speaker 39: Fun.
- 52:20Speaker 4: On that trend, an unexpected 1 o'clock game on a weekday,
- 52:24Speaker 4: what did you think of this crowd? It was great.
- 52:26Speaker 26: It was awesome.
- 52:27Speaker 17: The energy that they brought, especially with the change and
- 52:30Speaker 17: the 1 o'clock on a weekday, it was Going out
- 52:33Speaker 17: there and seeing how loud they were from pitch one,
- 52:35Speaker 17: it was really fun.
- 52:38Speaker 5: Going back to the leadership element just for a second,
- 52:40Speaker 5: have there been a player that's taken you under their
- 52:42Speaker 5: wing this season?
- 52:44Speaker 3: For sure.
- 52:44Speaker 17: I think, you know, from the outfield side, just having
- 52:47Speaker 17: Stephen Kwan, just like the guy that is as cool
- 52:49Speaker 17: as can be.
- 52:50Speaker 26: He's always got a level head. No moment's too big.
- 52:54Speaker 17: And just like from when I got drafted and playing
- 52:57Speaker 17: with him in Arizona and spring training and everything, he's,
- 53:00Speaker 17: you know, Shows you how to be a leader and
- 53:03Speaker 17: how to be the teammate that you want to be.
- 53:05Speaker 26: So as an outfield guy, for sure.
- 53:09Speaker 6: Petey, can you describe to me how humble you feel
- 53:13Speaker 6: after the fans kept chanting your name, not only after
- 53:16Speaker 6: the home run, but when you make a routine fly out?
- 53:18Speaker 6: It's got to feel good for you.
- 53:19Speaker 17: Yeah, it feels great having that behind me and just
- 53:24Speaker 17: being able to enjoy the moment and hopefully get that win,
- 53:28Speaker 17: which we ended up doing.
- 53:29Speaker 26: So that was a really cool moment.
- 53:33Speaker 3: So the Guardians are a winner today by a final
- 53:35Speaker 3: score of 3-2, setting up Game 4 scheduled for tomorrow night.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Your options, if they do play and everything stays the same,
- 53:46Speaker 3: if Milwaukee wraps up the National League Championship Series tonight
- 53:50Speaker 3: in L.A., the Guardians and Rays would be scheduled for
- 53:54Speaker 3: an 8 o'clock first pitch. If that series continues, then
- 53:57Speaker 3: it's the Guardians and the Rays' with a 6 o'clock
- 54:01Speaker 3: first pitch. But again, weather could be a big issue,
- 54:04Speaker 3: and we'll keep you posted as best we can as
- 54:07Speaker 3: to the start time for tomorrow's game, if it is
- 54:09Speaker 3: impacted and indeed played based on the weather forecast for tomorrow.
- 54:14Speaker 3: So that's going to do it for our coverage today
- 54:16Speaker 3: from Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland. Thanks to Keith Kennedy,
- 54:19Speaker 3: our on-site engineer in the booth, Brian Motze back at
- 54:22Speaker 3: Command Center, and, of course, Tom Hamilton. I'm Jim Rosenhouse
- 54:26Speaker 3: reminding you of the final score from Progressive Field in
- 54:29Speaker 3: downtown Cleveland, the Cleveland Guardians 3, the Tampa Bay Rays 2.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Have a great night, everyone.
- 54:39Speaker 15: On NewsRadio 570, WKVN.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Well, Heidi Ho, NewsRadio 570, WKVN, and Ron Furb.
- 54:43Speaker 2: It's 417 on a Thursday afternoon. We've got a snippet
- 54:45Speaker 2: of time here to conversate.
- 54:46Speaker 22: 330-729-9977, 330-729-9977.
- 54:47Speaker 2: How about those guardians? First of all, how about the
- 54:50Speaker 2: joy of just listening to Tom Hamilton and Rosie and
- 55:09Speaker 2: Just to listen to the game, as I'm sure many
- 55:11Speaker 2: of you did this afternoon because it was an early
- 55:15Speaker 2: game this afternoon. But just to listen to the game,
- 55:19Speaker 2: hear the excitement, and enjoy this game and this victory.
- 55:23Speaker 2: I mean, it is just take it all in, gang. Friday,
- 55:27Speaker 2: as they say, could be a little bit iffy with
- 55:29Speaker 2: rain showers. We shall see what happens there. But what
- 55:32Speaker 2: a great, great afternoon it's been. with a Guardian's victory
- 55:36Speaker 2: here on NewsRadio 570 WKBN, and we couldn't be happier
- 55:39Speaker 2: about that. Anyway, welcome to Thursday. We conversate. Then at 5,
- 55:43Speaker 2: The Legal Show, 6, John Arnold and Money Talks. 7 o'clock,
- 55:47Speaker 2: Sean Hannity on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. So good to be
- 55:51Speaker 2: with you. What a gorgeous day we have underway. I mean,
- 55:54Speaker 2: we just have an absolutely wonderful, wonderful Thursday afternoon. It
- 55:59Speaker 2: is 70, 70 degrees here. Enjoy it while you can,
- 56:03Speaker 2: all right? You're on the air.
- 56:06Speaker 4: Ronald.
- 56:07Speaker 2: Now, did you hear? I got to tell you a
- 56:09Speaker 2: true story.
- 56:10Speaker 6: All right.
- 56:10Speaker 2: It's Ted, the conservative. I dropped the ball yesterday. And
- 56:14Speaker 2: when I was driving home from the radio station, I
- 56:19Speaker 2: started laughing because because because yesterday. See, the boss lady
- 56:26Speaker 2: got me the day before, okay? So the day before.
- 56:29Speaker 30: She got you good.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so with the, hey, Ron.
- 56:32Speaker 1: And I said, what?
- 56:33Speaker 2: And she says, I got to go. Okay, so then yesterday,
- 56:36Speaker 2: yesterday when she called and I said, you're on the air,
- 56:40Speaker 2: she said, Ronald. And I didn't get it. She said,
- 56:45Speaker 2: you missed it. I was doing Ted the Conservative. So
- 56:50Speaker 2: then as I was driving home from the radio station,
- 56:54Speaker 2: I just started laughing because.
- 56:55Speaker 1: The.
- 56:56Speaker 30: Light switch went on.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Yeah, the light switch went on, and it took that long,
- 57:01Speaker 2: and I put it together, and it was like... That
- 57:04Speaker 2: was really funny. So this is two times she got
- 57:07Speaker 2: the best of me. She got the best of me
- 57:09Speaker 2: the day before with the gotta go from the unknown caller.
- 57:13Speaker 2: And yesterday, it just didn't connect at the time it happened.
- 57:16Speaker 2: But when I was driving home, it connected. She was
- 57:19Speaker 2: doing Ted the Conservative with the Ronald, and I just
- 57:22Speaker 2: started laughing. I just thought it was funny.
- 57:24Speaker 30: The boss lady's tough. You got to be on your
- 57:26Speaker 30: toes when you hear her voice.
- 57:30Speaker 23: I know.
- 57:30Speaker 30: You never know what angle she's going to hit you.
- 57:32Speaker 30: She's like a fighter.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Right, but she reeled me in. I mean, hook, line,
- 57:36Speaker 2: and sinker two days in a row. Two days in
- 57:40Speaker 2: a row, she come up with something that, I don't know.
- 57:46Speaker 2: She just got me hook, line, and sinker.
- 57:48Speaker 30: She said she made some good comments yesterday, and I've
- 57:51Speaker 30: heard you say, repeating some of the same things. That's
- 57:56Speaker 30: why I've been listening for about a week or so.
- 57:57Speaker 30: I said, you know, I've got to give this guy
- 57:58Speaker 30: a call because then something else happened today. So for years,
- 58:03Speaker 30: I've preached to you something that you struggled with. But again,
- 58:07Speaker 30: I think the light switch went on. You're just a
- 58:09Speaker 30: little bit slow when it comes to the boss lady
- 58:12Speaker 30: and myself.
- 58:13Speaker 1: I'm a little bit slow is right.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 58:16Speaker 30: It's okay. I'm slower.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Trust me.
- 58:18Speaker 30: All I got to do is ask my wife. She'll
- 58:20Speaker 30: tell you.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Now, think about how slow it is. I'm driving home,
- 58:23Speaker 2: and I get the boss lady's joke yesterday. It took
- 58:25Speaker 2: me that long.
- 58:25Speaker 1: That's slow.
- 58:27Speaker 2: All right. Go ahead.
- 58:28Speaker 30: Well, you might have had other things on your mind.
- 58:30Speaker 30: But listen, I've been saying how many years now you
- 58:33Speaker 30: can never vote for a.
- 58:36Speaker 30: What's the answer?
- 58:38Speaker 2: Oh, he's going to rub it in, folks.
- 58:44Speaker 1: I feel it coming.
- 58:45Speaker 29: Never vote for a Democrat.
- 58:48Speaker 30: I don't give a rat's ass, excuse my language, how
- 58:52Speaker 30: nice the guy is when you talk to him. Because
- 58:55Speaker 30: when he goes behind that curtain or when he's not
- 58:58Speaker 30: smiling at you and making you think he's a great guy,
- 59:00Speaker 30: he's pushing that leftist agenda.
- 59:02Speaker 2: That is true.
- 59:04Speaker 30: And I'm hearing more and more of your colleagues repeat that,
- 59:07Speaker 30: which makes me smile every time I hear it. I'm like,
- 59:09Speaker 30: you know what?
- 59:10Speaker 40: They get it.
- 59:10Speaker 30: They're finally getting it. You're not dealing with normal people.
- 59:14Speaker 30: And I'm going to transition that into the county commissioners.
- 59:19Speaker 30: This thing, Lauren McNally, I'll just refer... I've got some
- 59:24Speaker 30: words I could use for her, but I'll just call
- 59:26Speaker 30: her this thing. We'll call her Thing 1. What she's
- 59:30Speaker 30: resorted to do with these nasty text messages she's sending
- 59:34Speaker 30: out about Christine Oliver, the people that are supporting her,
- 59:38Speaker 30: and now she's going after the mother, her deceased mom
- 59:42Speaker 30: in the race.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Is she sending those out?
- 59:47Speaker 30: Well, let me ask.
- 59:48Speaker 29: You a question.
- 59:49Speaker 30: If you're running for county commissioner, Are you engaged?
- 59:53Speaker 40: Yes.
- 59:54Speaker 30: If you're not running for public office, are you going
- 59:57Speaker 30: to give a rat's ass and spend money out of
- 59:59Speaker 30: your pocket to send.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Out text messages?
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: Come on.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Let me give everybody some advice when you talk about that.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Guess what?
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: These things I get in the mail, the cards that
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: these people send out, Sherrod Brown, I get them every day.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I'm sure you do as well.
- 1:00:18Speaker 30: Oh, my God.
- 1:00:19Speaker 37: Yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Guess what I do? All of you guys that spend money,
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: I get them, I throw them in the garbage. I mean,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I throw them in the garbage. Guess what I do
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: when I get these text messages? First of all, I
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: get annoyed that somewhere along the line, it seemed to
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: become okay to text message people's cell phones with political
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: messages and this kind of stuff. When did that become okay?
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: But anyway, as soon as I get them, guess what
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I do? I go to delete and report as spam.
- 1:00:55Speaker 30: You know what I do?
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: What?
- 1:00:57Speaker 30: In full disclosure and transparency, I give them a nasty response. Usually...
- 1:01:04Speaker 30: I can't use the language that I use, and they
- 1:01:06Speaker 30: immediately say, thank you for your response. We'll remove you
- 1:01:09Speaker 30: from our list.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: Yeah, usually it's a machine doing it, though.
- 1:01:14Speaker 30: You gotta treat these Democrats how they treat others. You're
- 1:01:18Speaker 30: not dealing with normal people. Like this McNally, this woman,
- 1:01:21Speaker 30: I hate to say this because I'm not this kind
- 1:01:23Speaker 30: of guy. She's a pig in.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: My, well, do not, I don't, I don't mean that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 30: I know, I know you're going to get mad at me,
- 1:01:29Speaker 30: but the lowest of low, I mean, you're running for office.
- 1:01:33Speaker 30: Tell us what you're going to do. Don't tell, I
- 1:01:36Speaker 30: don't need the, I don't need you telling me negative
- 1:01:39Speaker 30: things about your opponent's mother who died at the, you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 30: an unfortunate situation. There's a woman who hasn't shown up
- 1:01:47Speaker 30: for work. Doesn't show up for work. She's chasing a paycheck.
- 1:01:52Speaker 30: She won't debate all of her, from what I understand,
- 1:01:54Speaker 30: from what I'm reading as I get back into the
- 1:01:56Speaker 30: groove of things. She's hiding behind these, you know, the
- 1:02:00Speaker 30: Democrat Party and their old war machine of, you know,
- 1:02:03Speaker 30: the gone hand-eye days of the nasty politics. She won't
- 1:02:07Speaker 30: speak publicly very often because I don't think she has
- 1:02:11Speaker 30: the acumen to give very long, detailed answers to questions.
- 1:02:17Speaker 30: Woman's chasing a paycheck, you know. And until we start
- 1:02:21Speaker 30: removing people like her from public office, we're going to
- 1:02:24Speaker 30: get the same old stuff that people call your program
- 1:02:27Speaker 30: and complain about every day. You know, these Democrats, and
- 1:02:31Speaker 30: I'll use Emanuel and Fifth Avenue, Mr. Fifth Avenue over there,
- 1:02:35Speaker 30: because I think J.J. really has come to the dark side.
- 1:02:38Speaker 30: I think J.J. 's made a change. You know, these
- 1:02:41Speaker 30: guys get on the radio every day, and they tell
- 1:02:42Speaker 30: you that Trump is this and Trump is that, and,
- 1:02:45Speaker 30: you know, they want to call him a rapist, and
- 1:02:47Speaker 30: they make up these lies and this crazy BS. But
- 1:02:51Speaker 30: when you get to the local level where, you know,
- 1:02:53Speaker 30: where politics matter, where it really affects you and you
- 1:02:56Speaker 30: really have an opportunity to have a say, they don't
- 1:03:00Speaker 30: say anything. They just vote Democrat. Oh, I'm a Democrat.
- 1:03:02Speaker 30: I'm a Democrat. They talk about bad candidates. You know,
- 1:03:05Speaker 30: this woman, think about how scary it would be if
- 1:03:07Speaker 30: she won. What'd she show up for? She's already told
- 1:03:11Speaker 30: you she wants to raise your taxes. She already told
- 1:03:14Speaker 30: you along with your trustee out there in Austintown, they
- 1:03:17Speaker 30: know better how to spend your money. There'll be no
- 1:03:20Speaker 30: more real estate reductions if McNally wins. She's one of
- 1:03:24Speaker 30: those Democrats who thinks she knows best. She knows how
- 1:03:27Speaker 30: to spend your money better than you, Ron.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Well, the only thing, the cause for concern, I would say, is,
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: and I think it's a legitimate criticism, is to say,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: wait a minute, you were elected state rep and then
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: you got a horrible attendance record?
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: So one of the worst?
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: You were elected state rep, but you didn't show up
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: down in Columbus to do the job?
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Well, explain that to me. You were collecting a paycheck.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: You ran for the office, but your attendance is not
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: very good, let's put it that way. It's certainly, it's
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: just not very good.
- 1:04:09Speaker 30: If she was in school, I think her attendance would
- 1:04:13Speaker 30: be a flunking grade.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Right, so.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: That's how you handle that job?
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Now you want to make $ 100, 000 a year for, I
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: don't understand it at all. Listen, I don't care if
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: you're a Democrat or Republican.
- 1:04:29Speaker 29: Hear me out.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: It doesn't matter to me if you're a Democrat or
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: a Republican.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: If you're elected to that office and you don't show
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: up to vote and don't have attendance down there for
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: what you were elected to and pay, I'm going to
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: be critical of you. As I've said numerous times, Dave
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Thomas is the hardest-working state rep I've seen in my
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: 41 years on this radio station. I mean, he is
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: a hard-working state rep. But Tex Fisher is doing a
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: good job. These people are doing a good job. But
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: I don't care. Once again, take party out of it.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: If you're elected and you don't show up to do
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: your job, something's wrong.
- 1:05:04Speaker 30: Something is very wrong. And what's even more concerning is
- 1:05:09Speaker 30: that someone can go to the ballot box uninformed. ignorant, stupid,
- 1:05:14Speaker 30: whatever you want to call them, and pull the lever
- 1:05:16Speaker 30: for this lady. So you get, you know, they always
- 1:05:18Speaker 30: say you get the politics you deserve. So as long
- 1:05:21Speaker 30: as you keep on voting for people like this Lauren McDowell,
- 1:05:23Speaker 30: you're going to get the same results. I just can't believe.
- 1:05:28Speaker 30: that a candidate would not be willing to debate her
- 1:05:30Speaker 30: opponent on the issues that matter.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Amy Acton.
- 1:05:34Speaker 30: Yeah, Amy Acton, too. And then turn around, and we're
- 1:05:37Speaker 30: seeing with Amy Acton, we're seeing it with Sherrod Brown.
- 1:05:40Speaker 30: They won't get out there and speak to their opponents,
- 1:05:42Speaker 30: but the dirty, the mudslinging, the horrible things that they'll
- 1:05:47Speaker 30: say about them, and as individuals and families, you know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 30: there's no limits to what they'll do to get power.
- 1:05:53Speaker 16: Right.
- 1:05:53Speaker 30: That should be alarming to everyone.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: And let me just clarify, because that text messages were
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: forwarded to me. Anybody that's sending out a text message,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: what Christine Oliver went through as far as her mother
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: and the care that she received. at a nursing home
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: is deplorable, and there is a lawsuit as a result
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: of it, and there should be. There should be a
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: lawsuit as a result of it. And she has made
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: it clear that if she's elected commissioner, she's going to
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: perhaps have some type of ombudsman or somebody in a
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: position to deal with seniors in nursing homes. she's made
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: her position pretty clear on what she would do if
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: elected commissioner, what she thinks needs to be done as
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: a result of the neglect a lot of seniors get
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: when they are in nursing homes and they're understaffed. And
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I don't know why anybody, and I do mean anybody,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: would say anything about that situation other than it's a
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: damn shame And I hope justice prevails because this is,
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: and to imply anything's used for political purposes, this is
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: about a daughter and her mother and the care she
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: received and ultimately the death she suffered as a result
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: of what she perceives to be the care. And that's
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: what the lawsuit is about. And I think justifiably so.
- 1:07:23Speaker 30: I don't know the legal ramifications because... When you run
- 1:07:28Speaker 30: for office, I think you put yourself.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Up But, I mean, if you're asking me, if you're
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: asking my opinion, do I think it's deplorable and the
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: lower in a pregnant snake's belly, my answer to that
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: is yes. Stand by for a minute, and I'll let
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: you wrap up your thoughts after the headlines. Then I'll
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: take more calls until 5, then the legal show, Ron Verb,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Kingdom of Balmy.
- 1:07:47Speaker 15: News Radio 570 WKVS.
- 1:07:49Speaker 41: Oxford Miami University issued an all-clear Thursday after a report
- 1:07:55Speaker 41: of gunfire near McGuffey Hall triggered an active threat alert
- 1:07:58Speaker 41: just after 2 o'clock this afternoon. Police checked the building
- 1:08:01Speaker 41: and confirmed that there was no active threat on campus,
- 1:08:04Speaker 41: with the university giving the official all clear just after 2.30.
- 1:08:08Speaker 41: The Butler County Sheriff's Office confirmed that fireworks, not gunfire,
- 1:08:11Speaker 41: prompted the response, and students were told they could safely
- 1:08:14Speaker 41: resume their normal activities. And police have arrested a suspect
- 1:08:17Speaker 41: in the hit-and-run crash that injured Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and
- 1:08:21Speaker 41: one of her campaign staffers this past summer. The crash
- 1:08:23Speaker 41: happened in Toledo on the morning of August 2nd as
- 1:08:26Speaker 41: Kaptur was on her way to church. Police say captor's
- 1:08:29Speaker 41: vehicle was hit by another car, whose driver quickly fled
- 1:08:32Speaker 41: the scene on foot. 24-year-old Jaheim Wright was arrested yesterday
- 1:08:36Speaker 41: on charges, including two counts of aggravated vehicular assault.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I'm Brady Hopkin.
- 1:08:42Speaker 41: Listen on the free iHeartRadio app for all your music, news, talk,
- 1:08:45Speaker 41: and sports radio.
- 1:08:47Speaker 15: Podcast 2.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Download the app.
- 1:08:49Speaker 15: Free never sounded so good.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Stay warm with a $ 39 heating inspection from A to Z.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: For 50 years, Sharon Brown voted.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: From NewsRadio 570 to ODKBN. So, go ahead, Ted.
- 1:09:05Speaker 15: Yes, sir.
- 1:09:06Speaker 30: I'll just say this. I don't care if your name
- 1:09:08Speaker 30: is Amy Askin or Laura McNally. If you don't have
- 1:09:11Speaker 30: the confidence, the conviction, the courage, maybe the intelligence to
- 1:09:16Speaker 30: debate your opponent... Why the hell are you running for
- 1:09:19Speaker 30: public office? If you can't speak on a debate stage,
- 1:09:22Speaker 30: how are you going to represent your constituents? Although we
- 1:09:25Speaker 30: know that McNally doesn't. She doesn't go to work. She's
- 1:09:28Speaker 30: just there for the paycheck. So, you know, you've got
- 1:09:30Speaker 30: to be careful. Watch these people. Watch their behavior. And
- 1:09:34Speaker 30: that will tell you the kind of person you're electing.
- 1:09:36Speaker 30: You know, we've got to stop electing these low-character, low-quality people.
- 1:09:42Speaker 30: How this Laura McNally got to where she is is
- 1:09:44Speaker 30: just astonishing. It's just shocking. And I hope people wake
- 1:09:48Speaker 30: up and they see what's going on, because if not,
- 1:09:51Speaker 30: you're going to get the government you deserve. You can
- 1:09:53Speaker 30: say goodbye to property tax deductions. You could say goodbye
- 1:09:57Speaker 30: to everything because, again, they know best how to spend
- 1:09:59Speaker 30: your money.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:10:00Speaker 30: Regardless of dealing with stupidity, you're going to lose in
- 1:10:04Speaker 30: the end financially. And I'll end with this. Be on
- 1:10:09Speaker 30: your toes. When you hear the boss lady's voice, don't
- 1:10:12Speaker 30: get nervous. Don't start shaking.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: I know she's got to reel me in two days
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: in a row. I'm going to pay better attention. All right, Ted.
- 1:10:18Speaker 30: Take a deep breath and just listen to her before
- 1:10:21Speaker 30: you speak and then speak.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: I got it. Thanks for the advice, Coach. Appreciate it.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: News Radio 570, WKBN. You're on the air.
- 1:10:27Speaker 25: Ron?
- 1:10:29Speaker 17: Yes.
- 1:10:30Speaker 36: It's JJ.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: JJ the Trumpster. Yes, JJ.
- 1:10:35Speaker 28: I'm going through a crisis right now.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 1:10:40Speaker 36: My life is over.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: What's that?
- 1:10:44Speaker 30: My life is over.
- 1:10:45Speaker 29: Why?
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: It's over.
- 1:10:50Speaker 29: Where I told you, my life is over. Could you
- 1:10:54Speaker 29: put me on hold? I just want to say goodbye.
- 1:10:58Speaker 29: In your next commercial, I just want to say goodbye.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Well, no, there's no reason for you to say goodbye.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Just pause for a second. What do you mean that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: You're going through a difficult time right now. Now listen
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: to me. Just listen to me. Okay, you're going through
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: a difficult time in your life right now on a
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: personal level. We don't need to discuss with the public,
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: but I know about it. I know you're going through
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: a difficult time. But give it some time. These things
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: will— time heals everything, my friend. Everything works out in the end.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Time will heal this.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: You've just got to just.
- 1:11:51Speaker 30: I'm sorry.
- 1:11:53Speaker 29: I'm sorry. I'm not deserving. I'm sorry, Ron.
- 1:11:58Speaker 40: I didn't mean to do this.
- 1:11:59Speaker 36: I wanted to.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Talk to you on the side. No. Listen, you can
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: talk to me right here, right now, or any time
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: you know that. All I'm saying to you is, as
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: difficult a time as you're having in your life right now,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: that it will get better. Life will get better, and
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: life will go on, and the sun will shine again.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: It will do that. It will do that. Listen to me.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: You mean a lot to me. And you mean a
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: lot to me. You mean a lot to this audience.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: And I'm genuinely concerned about the difficulties you're having in
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: your personal life at this time. But I can assure you,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I can promise you and assure you, every day will
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: get better. It will get better.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: The world is a better place with you here.
- 1:13:01Speaker 30: I don't believe so.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: No, believe it. No, I need you to believe that.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: Because it's not a case of believing it. It's true.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Listen to me. The world is a better place with
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: your sense of humor and your opinions and your joy
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: in it. You make it a better place. There would
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: be a giant void if you weren't here for us.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: And you have a son that needs you. You have
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: a son that needs you.
- 1:13:36Speaker 29: Okay?
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: And all these things will work themselves out. You just
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: got to let the system work its way through. I
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: can assure you of that. I know, but you have
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: to understand, you have people that love and need you,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: and they need you to be here for them, okay?
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: You need to be here.
- 1:14:02Speaker 29: They're not good thoughts.
- 1:14:03Speaker 42: I want you to be there.
- 1:14:04Speaker 29: Do you hear me?
- 1:14:04Speaker 30: You matter to me, okay?
- 1:14:06Speaker 15: Do you understand that?
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: You matter to me. You're important to me.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: You matter to me.
- 1:14:23Speaker 36: It's just you to me.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: All right? And I need you to understand that. And
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: you matter to a lot of people that are listening
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: who like and tease you and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: But the problems that you're going through in your personal life,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: they will heal.
- 1:14:43Speaker 40: They won't do.
- 1:14:44Speaker 30: It anymore, Ron.
- 1:14:45Speaker 29: Listen, thank you.
- 1:14:46Speaker 40: Take your other calls.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Listen, thank you for everything.
- 1:14:51Speaker 36: Bye, buddy.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: No, thank you.
- 1:14:54Speaker 16: Hmm. Hmm.
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: He's going through some personal issues in his life. This
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: is a strange relationship that you can have in what
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: I do here with people. You get to know many
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: of these people who you never meet, but you get
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: to know them quite well. And I know that he
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: is going through some personal issues in his life. And
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: I know at times all of us do. We've all
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: experienced some heartbreaks and heartaches and a lot of what
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: you think are difficult situations in your life. Listen, whatever
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: problems you think you might have, they all become insignificant.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: You know, somebody says you have this terminal illness or
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: this cancer or whatever. Now, that's a problem. JJ, listen
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: to me because problems that you think are so deep
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: and so difficult all vanish when if somebody says you
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: have cancer and it's stage four or you have this problem.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: If you hear something like that, you realize you only
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: have one problem, that issue of your health. All those
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: other problems you thought you had become totally insignificant and meaningless.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: They become absolutely meaningless. And that I need you to
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: trust me on that. I need you to trust me
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: on that. You'd stay the course and you take it
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: a day at a time. I've seen too many cases
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: of people who thought they couldn't overcome something and if
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: they just would have hung in there, life would have
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: been better. And it would have fixed their issues. If
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: they just would have hung in there. And they don't
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: realize the pain that they cause to others if they
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: make the wrong decision. So I need you to make
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: the right decision because you matter to me. And I
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: can assure you, JJ, I can assure you and promise
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: you these issues will get worked out. Life will go on.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: I can assure you of that. Just hang in there
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: for me. Just hang in there. You're on air.
- 1:18:58Speaker 43: JJ, I hope you're listening.
- 1:19:01Speaker 44: Just give it 24 hours, and then give it another
- 1:19:04Speaker 44: 24 hours.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:19:06Speaker 44: Everything passes.
- 1:19:10Speaker 30: Yeah, just give it some time, JJ.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: He's got some... Personal problems, I'm aware of them. And
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: you just got to let, like my dad says, you
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: got to roll with the punches. You don't say that's,
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: you just, it works out, right? Right.
- 1:19:30Speaker 44: I think it was President Lincoln who, he would fire
- 1:19:35Speaker 44: off a mean letter to somebody, but he wouldn't send
- 1:19:39Speaker 44: it for 24 hours. And then when he rethought it,
- 1:19:43Speaker 44: he decided not to send that letter. You know, because
- 1:19:47Speaker 44: you've got to think about it, J.J.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: You do.
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: I hope he's still there.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: I pray he is. I really pray he is.
- 1:19:56Speaker 30: Yeah.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: All right, thank you. You're on air.
- 1:20:02Speaker 25: Yeah, Ron, if I might make a quick suggestion, if
- 1:20:05Speaker 25: you know how to get a hold of J.J., Have
- 1:20:09Speaker 25: yourself or your engineer contact the help hotline here in
- 1:20:13Speaker 25: the Youngstown area. He's a man in real trouble emotionally,
- 1:20:17Speaker 25: and he needs somebody to talk to. And just thankfully
- 1:20:22Speaker 25: he talked to you, and your words of encouragement were
- 1:20:25Speaker 25: greatly appreciated by us, your audience. But I think it
- 1:20:29Speaker 25: would be important if you could do that, if you
- 1:20:31Speaker 25: know how to get to him. You might want to
- 1:20:34Speaker 25: consider having your engineer or yourself take a few minutes
- 1:20:38Speaker 25: offline here and reach out.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: I appreciate that, and I thank you for that.
- 1:20:45Speaker 22: I do.
- 1:20:45Speaker 40: Yes, sir.
- 1:20:46Speaker 30: Have a good night.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Thank you. You're on air.
- 1:20:48Speaker 40: Hello, Ron.
- 1:20:49Speaker 17: How are you?
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I'm okay.
- 1:20:52Speaker 30: Okay.
- 1:20:53Speaker 40: JJ, call 811 on your phone. That's the help hotline.
- 1:20:59Speaker 40: Hang in there. Also, Ron, if you know where J.J. lives,
- 1:21:03Speaker 40: I don't know if you do or not, have the
- 1:21:06Speaker 40: police go over and do a wellness check on him
- 1:21:08Speaker 40: to see if he's okay. That might be a good idea.
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:21:16Speaker 40: Also, my wife, as you know, is surviving pancreatic cancer,
- 1:21:25Speaker 40: which is the toughest of all the cancers to survive.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: It's a tough one.
- 1:21:29Speaker 40: And there are many times when I feel the same.
- 1:21:32Speaker 40: I can't say I feel exactly what J.J. is going through,
- 1:21:36Speaker 40: but I can understand why. J.J., we love you.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:21:42Speaker 40: We don't always agree with you, but we love you.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: I would agree with that.
- 1:21:47Speaker 40: And also, I don't know if you're a faithful person,
- 1:21:51Speaker 40: but get down on your knees and pray to God
- 1:21:54Speaker 40: that you have the courage to survive all this. I
- 1:21:59Speaker 40: don't know if he's a Catholic or whatever. Try the rosary.
- 1:22:06Speaker 40: That's always good, too. It's always worked for me.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: All right, my friend.
- 1:22:10Speaker 40: We love you. Have a great day, Robert.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Listen, these are, as I say, he doesn't have cancer
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: or a major health issue. He's just got some personal
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: issues going on in his life. But life goes on.
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: The sun will come up. The pain heals and everything
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: works out in the long run. Give it time to
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: work out. Give it time to work out.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 1:22:41Speaker 40: Hello, yes.
- 1:22:41Speaker 42: I'm very concerned about that man, JJ. I'm driving my
- 1:22:45Speaker 42: car and I heard this. I was thinking maybe you
- 1:22:48Speaker 42: should call 911 or something because I'm very concerned about
- 1:22:51Speaker 42: him that something might happen to him. And, you know,
- 1:22:54Speaker 42: I don't know. I'm not even in Ohio right now.
- 1:22:57Speaker 42: But I just am very concerned. That's all I wanted
- 1:22:59Speaker 42: to say.
- 1:22:59Speaker 29: Thank you.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Thank you. You know, it's... I don't know.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: You know, I am here.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: And... I just think... I just.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: You know, if he knows that.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: He knows that he matters. He knows that he matters.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: And that's what I want him to know, that he matters.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: And like any of you listening know, life can be
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: tough at times. And at times you can go through
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: some difficult issues in life. But no matter how difficult
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: those issues are, outside of, as I say, everything, you
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: think you have problems in your life, you think you
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: have them, and you think you have problems in your life,
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: and you realize they're insignificant when you, the only time
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: you've got a problem is when your doctor says you
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: have stage four cancer, or you have some terminal illness
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: or some a major health problem when you hear something
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: like that that's when all of these other problems that
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: you thought were so important or big problems go away
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: they mean nothing because now all you have is one
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: problem which is trying to be healthy to conquer an
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: illness Divorce or heartbreak or financial situations. Those problems can
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: all be dealt with as time goes on. Whatever those
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: situations are, whether it's a broken heart, whether that's divorce,
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: whether that's financial issues, whether that's disappointments in life or
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: in people. Those things can they'll work out if you
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: just give it time. If you give it time, it
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: all works out. As any of you know that have
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: gone through difficult times, whether it's an ugly or messy
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: divorce or a relationship breakup or it's a financial issue
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: or it's losing a job, Those are bumps in the
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: road in life. And JJ, those are all bumps in
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: the road. And every day, it gets better. And you
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: don't know what's around the curve, what's around the bend.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Something better could be ahead. Don't deny yourself that opportunity
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: to see what's ahead. News Radio 570, WKBN and Ron Ferb.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: We have The Legal Show coming your way at 5.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: I'll be right.
- 1:26:43Speaker 14: Back.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Mike Rowe here with a random fact. WKBN.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Back to you at News Radio 570, WKBN and Ron Ferb. 452,
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: you're on the air. Ron, it's Ted.
- 1:26:57Speaker 30: Can I speak again?
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:27:00Speaker 30: JJ.
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:27:02Speaker 30: I want to tell JJ, we love him. Every one
- 1:27:04Speaker 30: of us that is a regular listener to this program
- 1:27:07Speaker 30: loves him, cares about him. And I understand how he
- 1:27:11Speaker 30: could feel right now because, uh, you know, my own
- 1:27:14Speaker 30: personal experiences in lifelong.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:27:18Speaker 30: I have been in some of the darkest places that
- 1:27:20Speaker 30: exist in the world. I have felt that there was no, no,
- 1:27:24Speaker 30: no hope, no light. And, and just as Ron said,
- 1:27:29Speaker 30: you know, there's another day the sun will come up,
- 1:27:33Speaker 30: no matter how bad things seem. And if you don't
- 1:27:37Speaker 30: do it for anyone else, do it for your son.
- 1:27:39Speaker 30: Your son needs you. So I would love to talk
- 1:27:43Speaker 30: to JJ. I would love to tell him my story
- 1:27:45Speaker 30: and tell him where I'm speaking to him from, my
- 1:27:48Speaker 30: life experiences. But I don't know situations, so I can't
- 1:27:53Speaker 30: speak to it, but I know my situation. And it
- 1:27:56Speaker 30: couldn't have been any darker, as you know, Juan. So
- 1:27:58Speaker 30: I want JJ to know I'm living proof. the sun
- 1:28:01Speaker 30: comes up tomorrow.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: Right and how spectacular life can be i mean.
- 1:28:08Speaker 30: Yeah i mean i've lived a great life i've been
- 1:28:10Speaker 30: through hell.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: And i've lived a great life right i mean.
- 1:28:12Speaker 30: It's i mean you know any day above the ground
- 1:28:16Speaker 30: is a great day and sometimes that's hard to understand
- 1:28:19Speaker 30: or hard to appreciate until sometimes you get almost.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Underground you can't see you can't see what's ahead Yeah,
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: or around the bend if you're not here to see
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: what's ahead and around the bend. And sometimes things just
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: work out better than you've ever dreamed or ever expected.
- 1:28:36Speaker 30: And it's hard when you're in that situation to hear
- 1:28:38Speaker 30: what we're saying. Trust the people that care about you
- 1:28:41Speaker 30: that are saying it, that the sun will come up tomorrow.
- 1:28:45Speaker 30: You will get through this. Like Ron said. If I'm
- 1:28:48Speaker 30: not over-speaking, Ron, you interrupt me and cancel me, but
- 1:28:51Speaker 30: we're not talking about life and death here. We're not
- 1:28:53Speaker 30: talking about cancer.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: No, we're not.
- 1:28:56Speaker 30: You know, those things are tough. Those things are tough.
- 1:28:59Speaker 30: I've dealt with that, too, in my family. Lost people.
- 1:29:02Speaker 30: Lost a sister-in-law. That's tough. But you know what? No
- 1:29:05Speaker 30: matter what life throws at you, have your faith in God.
- 1:29:08Speaker 30: Be grounded. Be the best person you could be that day.
- 1:29:12Speaker 30: Worry about tomorrow when it comes. You know, I learned
- 1:29:16Speaker 30: myself through experiences. But keep moving forward. Keep taking the
- 1:29:21Speaker 30: next step. Do the next right thing. Lean on your faith,
- 1:29:25Speaker 30: and if no one else, think of your son. Your
- 1:29:28Speaker 30: son needs you.
- 1:29:29Speaker 29: And I don't want to take up a lot of time, but.
- 1:29:31Speaker 30: I want JJ to know that we're all thinking about him.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: And he'll be fine.
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: There's temporary setbacks that people experience in life, and And
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: the key is that they're temporary. And you give it time.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: Everything can work out as time goes on. And I
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: do mean everything can work out. As I said, and
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: I say it again to each and every one of you,
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: I don't know where you are or what you're doing
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: or whatever. I'm telling you, you think you have problems
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: in your life. You don't have problems until you have
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: a major illness. Then you have a problem.
- 1:30:09Speaker 30: Right.
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: That's when all those problems become somewhat insignificant because all
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: of those problems go away. I'm just here to tell
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: each and every one of you, you know, I worry
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: about the money. I worry about my children. I worry
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: about this and worry about that. All of that goes
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: away and they don't become these monumental problems. When somebody
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: says you have stage four cancer, you have this long,
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: to all those problems done all of a sudden become
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: put in the order that they are. Not as important
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: as you thought they are.
- 1:30:43Speaker 30: Exactly. Like you said, money, too. That's one of the
- 1:30:46Speaker 30: least important. You know, everyone likes to have money. Don't
- 1:30:48Speaker 30: get me wrong. You know, you could do a lot
- 1:30:50Speaker 30: of things if you got money, but that doesn't matter
- 1:30:52Speaker 30: in life. What matters is your family. people who love
- 1:30:55Speaker 30: you and care about you.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: That's all you need. A lot of people say, well,
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: I should do this, I should do that. Listen, I'm
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: sitting here right now, folks. I don't know where he lives.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: I know some of the personal things that he's going through,
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: and I'm here to tell you, it will get better.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: He does not have a health issue. These other issues
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: in his life will get better. He just needs to
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: wait and see, and he will discover that to be
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: the case.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: And I'm sure that there are people that are close
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: to him, other family members that can help him at
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: this time and comfort him at this time. That's really
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: all you can do.
- 1:31:43Speaker 30: Sometimes that's what we need. Sometimes life is hard. Life
- 1:31:48Speaker 30: is hard. Life's not fair. Sometimes it's brutal.
- 1:31:51Speaker 25: But you know what?
- 1:31:53Speaker 30: We deal with it. Not to make a baseball analogy,
- 1:31:56Speaker 30: but you know what? You can swing the bat, but
- 1:31:59Speaker 30: guess what? That pitcher's throwing the ball again.
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: He's heating up and swinging that bat. No matter how
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: bad a day you have, as long as you're healthy,
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: you're not having.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: A bad day.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: And that's the reality. As long as you have your health,
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: you're not having a bad day. Everything else you can
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: work out is time.
- 1:32:16Speaker 30: Everything else will work itself out. The most important thing
- 1:32:19Speaker 30: is your family.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: The most important thing is yourself.
- 1:32:25Speaker 17: All right.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: Appreciate it, Seth.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Quickly, you're on the air, and then I've got to break.
- 1:32:29Speaker 12: Hello.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: We're running out of time.
- 1:32:31Speaker 43: Yes, me too.
- 1:32:32Speaker 29: I just wanted to second everything everybody said.
- 1:32:35Speaker 36: Faith is what you've got to have.
- 1:32:38Speaker 30: And I'm just praying that he doesn't do.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: Faith is irrational.
- 1:32:43Speaker 6: I agree.
- 1:32:44Speaker 43: If there's anything we can do, let's do it and
- 1:32:47Speaker 43: pray to God and have faith that we can do
- 1:32:49Speaker 43: the right thing.
- 1:32:50Speaker 16: Thanks, Ron.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Thank you. Legal show's coming up next. John Arnold's Money
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Talk after that. Ron Ferb from the Kingdom of Mahoning
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 1:33:00Speaker 45: Well, by now you should be celebrating 100 years as
- 1:33:03Speaker 45: the Valley's trusted news, weather, and talk station.
- 1:33:07Speaker 15: 570 WKBN.
- 1:33:07Speaker 9: Youngstown.
- 1:33:14Speaker 13: He's a man on a mission.
- 1:33:15Speaker 46: I'm Lisa Brady, Fox News. Just 19 days left to
- 1:33:18Speaker 46: the midterm elections. President Trump gets back on the campaign
- 1:33:21Speaker 46: trail tomorrow in between stops today back at the White
- 1:33:24Speaker 46: House for a Rose Garden event ahead of two tele-rallies.
- 1:33:27Speaker 45: President Trump trying to reframe all this talk about high
- 1:33:32Speaker 45: gas prices by making the argument that if something costs
- 1:33:35Speaker 45: a lot, that means that somebody is making a lot.
- 1:33:39Speaker 47: Because of the price of oil, Texas and Oklahoma... North
- 1:33:43Speaker 47: Dakota and all these places were making a fortune. But
- 1:33:47Speaker 47: I never talk about it because I'm not happy until
- 1:33:51Speaker 47: we get the actual price of the oil down to
- 1:33:54Speaker 47: where it was prior.
- 1:33:55Speaker 45: The cost of living, that is the big one for 59%
- 1:33:58Speaker 45: of voters in the newest Fox News poll, almost quadruple
- 1:34:02Speaker 45: the next concern, which is government spending and the deficit.
- 1:34:05Speaker 46: Fox's Peter Doocy at the White House, Democrats campaigning against
- 1:34:08Speaker 46: what they call a failing agenda and arguing voters want change.
- 1:34:12Speaker 46: California election officials are being sued by the Trump administration
- 1:34:16Speaker 46: after failing to meet a deadline to review the citizenship
- 1:34:18Speaker 46: status of some of the voters receiving mail-in ballots.
- 1:34:22Speaker 24: With this lawsuit, the federal government is asking the courts
- 1:34:25Speaker 24: to order California to set aside the mail-in ballots of
- 1:34:28Speaker 24: people identified as potential noncitizens. and to verify their citizenship
- 1:34:33Speaker 24: status before tabulating their ballot.
- 1:34:35Speaker 46: Fox's Max Gordon, California officials have rejected a Justice Department
- 1:34:39Speaker 46: request as political. President Trump scraps a plan to live
- 1:34:42Speaker 46: stream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nadal Hassan.
- 1:34:46Speaker 39: In a social media post, the president writes he thinks
- 1:34:49Speaker 39: streaming the execution might have been a strong deterrent for
- 1:34:52Speaker 39: the world to witness how America deals with terrorists and scum.
- 1:34:55Speaker 39: but adds many very good and well-meaning people would rather
- 1:34:58Speaker 39: not watch him die through streaming or any other visual device.
- 1:35:02Speaker 46: Fox's Jared Halpern, Hassan, killed 13 soldiers. Victims' families will
- 1:35:07Speaker 46: have the option to attend the execution.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: America's listening to Fox News.
- 1:35:12Speaker 27: From the NASCO Roofing and Construction News Center, NASCO, the
- 1:35:15Speaker 27: Valley's trusted and passionate roofer, here's what's trending across Ohio.
- 1:35:22Speaker 41: Miami University in Oxford has issued an all-clear after a
- 1:35:25Speaker 41: report of gunfire near McGuffey Hall that triggered an active
- 1:35:28Speaker 41: threat alert just after 2 o'clock this afternoon. Police checked
- 1:35:31Speaker 41: the building and they confirmed that there was no active
- 1:35:34Speaker 41: threat on campus with the university giving the official all-clear
- 1:35:38Speaker 41: just after 2.30. The Butler County Sheriff's Office confirmed that fireworks,
- 1:35:42Speaker 41: not gunfire, prompted the response and students were told they
- 1:35:45Speaker 41: could safely resume their normal activities. In the meantime, an
- 1:35:49Speaker 41: appeals court says Ohio's EdChoice school voucher program is unconstitutional.
- 1:35:54Speaker 41: Scott Jenning gives us the details.
- 1:35:57Speaker 48: The state program uses taxpayer funds to support private school tuition.
- 1:36:02Speaker 48: More than 300 public school districts sued, alleging EdChoice was
- 1:36:05Speaker 48: violating the Ohio Constitution by funding a separate school system
- 1:36:09Speaker 48: with a lack of oversight that isn't available to rural students.
- 1:36:13Speaker 48: The ruling Thursday from the 10th District Court of Appeal
- 1:36:16Speaker 48: says it draws taxpayer money from public schools and choice
- 1:36:19Speaker 48: will still be able to exist. The judges expect the
- 1:36:22Speaker 48: state to appeal their decision. I'm Scott Jennings.
- 1:36:26Speaker 41: And finally, a post on social media is telling people
- 1:36:29Speaker 41: to make sure their mailed-in ballot is postmarked by Election Day. However,
- 1:36:33Speaker 41: that is coming from a League of Women Voters group
- 1:36:36Speaker 41: in California. But here in Ohio, ballots have to be
- 1:36:39Speaker 41: physically at the Board of Elections by the end of
- 1:36:41Speaker 41: voting on Election Day. Mike West of the Cuyahoga County
- 1:36:44Speaker 41: Board of Elections has this advice if you're mailing in
- 1:36:48Speaker 41: your ballots.
- 1:36:49Speaker 49: If you're going to mail your vote-by-mail ballot in, give
- 1:36:52Speaker 49: it about five to seven days just to be sure.
- 1:36:55Speaker 49: And also, we're encouraging, again, people to use the track
- 1:36:59Speaker 49: my ballot function. That can tell you that your ballot
- 1:37:02Speaker 49: application was received.
- 1:37:04Speaker 41: He also says to make sure you put the correct
- 1:37:05Speaker 41: amount of poses on the envelope when you return your ballot,
- 1:37:08Speaker 41: as yes, if it has sufficient poses, it will be
- 1:37:10Speaker 41: returned to you.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: I'm Brady Hopkins. A to Z dependable services. Plumbing, septic, heating, cooling,
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: and one-day baths. Stop and go traffic on I-80 West. Participants.
- 1:37:22Speaker 15: Now, Ron Verb. On News Radio 570, WKBN.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: And from NewsRadio 570 WKBN and Ron Ferb, we are

- 1:37:58Speaker 2: you've got a legal question, child support, divorce, DUI, custody, estates, evictions.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Do I need a trust? Do I need a will?
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: How about auto accidents?
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: How about.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Tenant-landlord disputes, evictions? How about medical malpractice, dog bites? Anything
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: that you've got going on in your world as far
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: as the law is concerned, we take on all comers
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: right now. 330, I've got three lines in Youngstown open
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: for legal questions between now and 6 o'clock tonight.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: Between now and 6 o'clock tonight, 330-729. Give us a call.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: 330-729-9977 will get you through to us. Three lines open.
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: Legal questions only.
- 1:38:33Speaker 17: 330-729-9977.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: 99-77 for legal questions for the lawyers. From Beatrice Kopp,
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: pick up the phone, give us a call. In the meantime,
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: we go to the law firm and check in with
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: Attorney David Beatrice. And who joins us at the big
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: table tonight, David?
- 1:39:00Speaker 6: Well, right now, it's just me, Ron. I think Attorney
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: Jim Melfi will be coming down momentarily.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: Well, that's a good thing.
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: And I want to apologize to the public that We
- 1:39:13Speaker 6: are not live streaming this. We're waiting for a new
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: box from the parent company in Dallas, Texas, to get
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: us a new box. And they've promised us as soon
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: as the Guardians figure out if they're going to go
- 1:39:26Speaker 6: to the World Series or not, we'll get a new
- 1:39:29Speaker 6: box and we'll be able to live stream it again.
- 1:39:32Speaker 6: But you can always listen to us right here. On
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: 570 WKBN.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Well, that was so professionally said that it kind of
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: gave me goosebumps right there for just a second.
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: It should have given you goosebumps.
- 1:39:47Speaker 40: I know.
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: And I wanted to tell you about a recent case
- 1:39:50Speaker 6: I had.
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: And I want to give, you know how the vindicator
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: does orchards and onions?
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: I want to give onions to Judge Nadel of the
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: Warren Municipal Court. Because I had a client that was
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: innocent of a charge, wrongly accused, and had a warrant
- 1:40:11Speaker 6: for his arrest. Yesterday, I walked into Judge Nadel's court,
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: and she refused to listen to me, refused to even
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: hear me out, and said I had to turn my
- 1:40:23Speaker 6: client into the jail, even though he was 100% innocent.
- 1:40:28Speaker 6: but she would not let me explain it. She said
- 1:40:31Speaker 6: to me, you know my rule, Mr. Beatrice, turn your
- 1:40:34Speaker 6: client into the jail and we'll deal with it tomorrow.
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: I said, but your honor, she goes, you know my rule.
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: And this is when judges are too rigid that they
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: don't realize that innocent people can be charged with crimes
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: as happened to my client. And then he was raked
- 1:40:52Speaker 6: over the coals by the press. Now, orchards to Joel
- 1:40:57Speaker 6: Gorman from WKBN, who corrected the story, and super orchards
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: to the Howland Police Department. Once they realized the mistake
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: they made, they attempted to get my innocent client out
- 1:41:10Speaker 6: of jail last night, but couldn't because Judge Nadel kept
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: him in jail and wouldn't listen to my arguments. And
- 1:41:19Speaker 6: this is what happens when a judge becomes too rigid
- 1:41:23Speaker 6: and and won't allow an explanation. So an innocent man
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: spent the night in jail. And then today when I
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: showed up in court, Judge Nadel came out and said,
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: what was your client's name, Mr. Beatrice? And I told her,
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: the same client I was here with yesterday, Your Honor.
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: And then the Warren City prosecutor refused to talk to me.
- 1:41:46Speaker 6: I followed her to the office. She slammed the door
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: in my face and locked her door. And as I'm
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: sitting at counsel table, a clerk said, a clerk came
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: up to me and handed me a dismissal that dismissed
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: the case against my client. And I looked at the
- 1:42:02Speaker 6: clerk and I said, am I free to leave? And
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: she said, yes, your client's being processed out of jail
- 1:42:07Speaker 6: right now. So kudos to the Howland Police Department for
- 1:42:11Speaker 6: realizing they made a mistake. And onions to the administration
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: of justice by Judge Nadel and Diane Barber, who's the
- 1:42:22Speaker 6: city prosecutor. For failing to even listen to me. Failing
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: to even hear what I had to say. Because they
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: have rules, you know. And an innocent man spent a
- 1:42:35Speaker 6: night in jail because of rules that they couldn't break
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: or at least hear what I had to say.
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: That seems so wrong.
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: Well, you know, when you're a judge, you could do
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: that stuff.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: You can do it, but that doesn't make it right
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: that you can do that.
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: No, it does not make it right. It does not
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: make it right at all. And I'm very critical of
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: how the justice is dispensed in the city of Warren
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: by the city attorney's prosecuting office and by Judge Nadel
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: in particular.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: Because the point of being a judge is judgment, right?
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: You've got to hear what you have to say.
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: No, she wouldn't even listen to me yesterday. I tried
- 1:43:22Speaker 6: to make an argument. And she looked at me and
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: she said, you know my rules. So I marched my
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: client over to jail, watched him be handcuffed, knowing he
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: was innocent, watched him be searched in the indignity, the
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: indignity of being incarcerated. Do you know how much that
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: bothers me, watching an innocent man being carted off to jail?
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: It bothers me as a lawyer. It bothers me that
- 1:43:51Speaker 6: a judge could not take the time to even give
- 1:43:54Speaker 6: me the benefit of the doubt. This is what happens
- 1:43:58Speaker 6: with rigidity. This is what happens when judges make rules
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: and then they won't bend the rules at all. And
- 1:44:07Speaker 6: this is the injustice that can happen. And there's nothing
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: my client can do.
- 1:44:12Speaker 10: Nothing.
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: Nothing. I want to. I want to call out the
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: chief of police of Howland Township. He tried last night
- 1:44:19Speaker 6: at 11 o'clock at night to get my client out
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: of jail, but because of Judge Nadel's order, he couldn't
- 1:44:25Speaker 6: get her out of jail. And then I had to
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: suffer the indignity of not being able to face the
- 1:44:31Speaker 6: judge or the city attorney, Diane Barber, who slammed the
- 1:44:35Speaker 6: door in my face and locked her door. Okay? They
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: couldn't face me. They had a clerk come up and
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: hand me an entry of dismissal.
- 1:44:43Speaker 22: Okay?
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: And I think that's disgusting. I have a First Amendment
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: right to say that. And I'm exercising my First Amendment
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: right on that. You cannot be rigid when you're just
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: because someone's charged doesn't mean they're guilty. Doesn't mean there
- 1:45:01Speaker 6: aren't circumstances where you have rules that you can bend
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: a little bit and at least hear what I have
- 1:45:08Speaker 6: to say.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: That's why they're called judges. They're to use judgment.
- 1:45:14Speaker 17: Well.
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: And in this case, it wasn't used.
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: It wasn't fair to my client.
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:45:20Speaker 6: And I got to give orchards to Joe Gorman from WKBN.
- 1:45:25Speaker 6: He corrected the story. It was a terrible story. Dragged
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: my client through the mud. Last night's story. I was
- 1:45:34Speaker 6: so disgusted by it. As I read the story, and
- 1:45:39Speaker 6: kudos to Joe Gorman. He called me and said, I'm
- 1:45:41Speaker 6: sorry I got this wrong. I'm so sorry. And to
- 1:45:45Speaker 6: the Howland detectives, you know, God bless them. They said, look,
- 1:45:48Speaker 6: we made a mistake. We tried to get your guy out.
- 1:45:50Speaker 6: We couldn't because of Judge Nadel's order. So an innocent
- 1:45:55Speaker 6: man spent a night in jail because of rigidity, because
- 1:46:00Speaker 6: of inflexibility. And that's not justice. That's injustice.
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: Really, how many years have we done this program? I've
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: never heard you so irritated over... I.
- 1:46:14Speaker 6: Tried to make the argument. She wouldn't even hear me out.
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: And they slammed a door in your face.
- 1:46:20Speaker 6: Oh, that's Diane Barber. She's the Warren City prosecutor. Slammed
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: the door and locked it.
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: Do any of them care that it's an innocent guy
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: going through?
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: No, I don't think they give two craps. I don't.
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: They couldn't even face me in court. They had a clerk.
- 1:46:38Speaker 6: God bless this clerk. They came up and gave me
- 1:46:41Speaker 6: an entry of dismissal. And I left. They said, they're
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: processing your client now. The judge couldn't even come out
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: and say, hey, Dave, sorry I didn't listen to you.
- 1:46:52Speaker 6: I didn't even get that consideration. My client didn't get
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: that consideration. My client had to have his name dragged
- 1:46:59Speaker 6: through the mud that he assaulted a 10-year-old and threw
- 1:47:02Speaker 6: racial slurs at him when it was absolutely not him.
- 1:47:07Speaker 6: Absolutely not him. And I had to suffer the indignity
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: of taking my client to the Trumbull County Jail watching
- 1:47:15Speaker 6: him get handcuffed and searched like a common criminal. No
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: record ever. 46 years old. Lived his whole life in
- 1:47:23Speaker 6: this community. Gainfully employed. Then I had to write a
- 1:47:26Speaker 6: letter to his employer hoping the employer wouldn't fire him
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: for a mistake that was made.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: This is a huge mistake, though.
- 1:47:36Speaker 6: And there's nothing my client can do. Nothing. Judges are immune.
- 1:47:42Speaker 6: prosecutors are immune and uh the howland police god bless
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: them i mean i got to give kudos to the
- 1:47:50Speaker 6: chief of police of the howland police department and the
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: detectives when they realized the mistake they made they tried
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: to right the wrong but they couldn't because of judge
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: natal's order because she has rules you know and those
- 1:48:03Speaker 6: rules have to be followed.
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: Yeah but do those rules include a guy that was
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: uh Was an innocent man going.
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: Through this rigmarole? I couldn't even explain it to her.
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: She wouldn't let me.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: She said, you know my rule, Mr.
- 1:48:17Speaker 6: Beatrice.
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: Where does that guy go to, as they say, the
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: guy that you're talking about, to get his reputation, his
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: dignity back?
- 1:48:22Speaker 6: He can't.
- 1:48:24Speaker 16: No, no.
- 1:48:25Speaker 6: His name was dragged through the mud. There was a
- 1:48:29Speaker 6: newspaper article saying that he used racial epitaphs and that
- 1:48:34Speaker 6: he assaulted a 10-year-old child and he was completely and
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: utterly innocent. How does a mistake like that even happen?
- 1:48:43Speaker 6: Because I'll tell you what happened. Eyewitness identification is over-relied
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: upon by juries, and it's the least reliable evidence.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: And you've seen it over the years, too. I know
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: you've talked about this. I've seen it too many times.
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: There are a lot of people incarcerated because of faulty
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: eyewitness identification. Because people think... that when people identify someone
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: that they can't make a mistake and they can. And
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: kudos to the Howland detective when he realized that the
- 1:49:17Speaker 6: picture that was shown to the victim and the witnesses
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: didn't even look like the person that did it. They
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: were driving my client's car. They got in my client's
- 1:49:31Speaker 6: car and left. They got the license plate. The Howland
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: police then got his BMV photo, took it to the
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: witnesses and said, is this the guy? That's not how
- 1:49:40Speaker 6: you do a photo lineup. But I can't be critical
- 1:49:43Speaker 6: of the Howland Township Police Department. They tried to rectify
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: the error they made.
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: Did they ultimately get the right man?
- 1:49:50Speaker 6: Well, they're investigating it properly now. You know, Ron, when
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: there's video... You should get the video before you rely
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: on anyone's statement because the video is the video.
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:50:04Speaker 6: And there's a video of what happened. And so now
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: they're going to do an investigation and then let me know. Okay. And,
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: you know, I might wind up representing the real culprit,
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: but we'll have to see. But I feel so bad
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: for my clients. I was helpless. I felt so helpless.
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: I felt handcuffed and gagged in a courtroom in America
- 1:50:31Speaker 6: as I watched an innocent man being carted off to jail.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: I don't know whether I saved his job or not,
- 1:50:39Speaker 6: because I can only imagine his employer reading the newspaper article,
- 1:50:45Speaker 6: and how terrible that newspaper article was.
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: Or Dave, his friends or relatives or anybody else.
- 1:50:50Speaker 6: Where does he go to get his reputation back? He can't.
- 1:50:55Speaker 6: But I've got to give orchards to Joe Gorman. He
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: corrected his article, and he called me and said, I'm sorry,
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: I got this wrong. So kudos to him. Kudos to
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: the Howland Township Police Department. Or onions to Judge Nadel
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: and onions to Diane Barber. For not even giving me
- 1:51:18Speaker 6: the benefit of listening to me.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: It takes a lot of guts to say what you're saying.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: A lot of people would cower.
- 1:51:24Speaker 6: At 41 years, I'm not afraid of anything anymore.
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Right, exactly. I'm going to.
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: Call out injustice when I see it. And I saw
- 1:51:34Speaker 6: it in a courtroom in the Warren Municipal Court in
- 1:51:38Speaker 6: this valley. I watched an innocent man arrested and placed
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: in jail overnight. A totally innocent man. And it was disgusting.
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: And just that booking process is somewhat traumatic. It's humiliating.
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: Humiliating. I tried to explain. No one would listen to me.
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: I was shut down.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: In talking to your client after this happened, what words
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: do you say?
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: He goes, can I sue anyone? I said, nope. I said,
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: the judge is totally immune. The prosecutor has total immunity
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: and the police had probable cause based on a faulty ID.
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: He goes, well, where do I go to get my
- 1:52:26Speaker 6: reputation back? I said, my friend, all I can do
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: is have the WKBN retract the story and rewrite it,
- 1:52:33Speaker 6: which they did. And write a letter to your employer,
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: because I'm sure the employer wasn't too happy, reading about
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: one of their employees that didn't do this.
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Well, Dave, his friends, his relatives.
- 1:52:49Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: There's always that cloud now that's hanging there.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: Exactly. I mean, I was so upset for him. I
- 1:52:58Speaker 6: was so angry.
- 1:52:59Speaker 30: Right.
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: I was so angry. I felt so helpless as a
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: lawyer that I couldn't even get the benefit of the
- 1:53:07Speaker 6: judge's ear.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: Right, right, which is just ridiculous, ridiculous. Well, I'm sorry
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: that happened to him and obviously to you. And I
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: admire your fighting for your client.
- 1:53:20Speaker 6: I'll always fight for my clients. And this is just
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: a reminder. You know, I've been doing this 41 years, Ron.
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: It's just a reminder to me. Just because you're charged,
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: I know why now we have a presumption of innocence. Okay?
- 1:53:37Speaker 30: Yes.
- 1:53:37Speaker 6: Just because you're charged doesn't mean anything. And people should
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: be presumed innocent. My client was totally innocent. And the
- 1:53:47Speaker 6: indignities that he had to suffer because I couldn't get
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: public officials to even listen to me until this morning.
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: And then they didn't even face me. They gave me
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: a judgment entry dismissing the charges as a door was
- 1:54:02Speaker 6: slammed in my face. Yeah. Diane Barber's her name. She's
- 1:54:09Speaker 6: the city prosecutor for Warren. And the people of Warren
- 1:54:12Speaker 6: should know how she wields her power. And she wielded
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: it wrongly. And I doubt that the administration in the
- 1:54:23Speaker 6: city of Warren will have the fortitude to reprimand her
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: for her indignity of what she did to me and
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: to my client. Refused to even talk to me outside
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: of the courtroom. And slam a door in my face
- 1:54:37Speaker 6: and lock her door. And then I had her clerk
- 1:54:40Speaker 6: go knock on the door. She would not even answer
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: the door.
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: Well, David.
- 1:54:46Speaker 6: So people should remember that when they vote. Her name
- 1:54:50Speaker 6: is Diane Barber. She's the Warren City prosecutor, and she
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: allowed an innocent man to be incarcerated. It is on,
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: I blame her and nobody else. I blame the judge
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: for not even giving me the benefit of the doubt
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: of allowing me to make an argument when I tried
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: to turn him in yesterday. But Diane Barber should be
- 1:55:13Speaker 6: held to account for this. Absolutely. Absolutely. And the mayor
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: of the city of Warren and the city law director
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: should take action against her for doing this. You do
- 1:55:25Speaker 6: not wield power like that. That is not how it's
- 1:55:29Speaker 6: supposed to be used.
- 1:55:31Speaker 10: Right.
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: All right, David.
- 1:55:34Speaker 6: Yeah, am I fired up?
- 1:55:36Speaker 22: I am, Ron.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I am.
- 1:55:38Speaker 2: Justly so.
- 1:55:39Speaker 6: And justly so is correct.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: Justly so.
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: All right, Dave, I'll take some calls for you between
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: now and 6 o'clock. With Attorney David Beatrice, you're on
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: the air.
- 1:55:50Speaker 6: Welcome.
- 1:55:51Speaker 30: Oh, my God.
- 1:55:52Speaker 50: My blood pressure is like 2,000 over 10,000 with that.
- 1:55:58Speaker 6: Well, yeah.
- 1:55:59Speaker 50: But there has to be a repercussion.
- 1:56:02Speaker 25: I don't think that's good enough.
- 1:56:03Speaker 50: What do you mean that there's no repercussion?
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: There's nothing that can be done. A judge is totally immune.
- 1:56:09Speaker 6: A prosecutor has total immunity.
- 1:56:12Speaker 50: Okay, but they should be forced to face the public
- 1:56:15Speaker 50: and apologize. Well, you know what?
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: Judge Nadel has to face the voters. So everyone should
- 1:56:21Speaker 6: remember that when she's running for reelection. Remember, she has rules,
- 1:56:26Speaker 6: and those rules have to be followed. And there's no
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: exception to those rules.
- 1:56:31Speaker 50: OK, well, obviously, I don't I don't understand. But but
- 1:56:35Speaker 50: like I've heard like of people getting like financial compensation
- 1:56:40Speaker 50: for being wrongly. Is that like on a different sort
- 1:56:43Speaker 50: of a claim or like?
- 1:56:45Speaker 6: No, because because the police had probable cause.
- 1:56:50Speaker 29: OK.
- 1:56:51Speaker 6: And prosecutors and judges have total immunity.
- 1:56:54Speaker 16: Well, you know what?
- 1:56:55Speaker 50: Maybe he shouldn't have turned himself in then.
- 1:56:57Speaker 29: Like, I don't know.
- 1:56:58Speaker 25: Like, maybe that's the better call next time.
- 1:56:59Speaker 6: The police come out and arrest them.
- 1:57:02Speaker 42: Well, I'd hide.
- 1:57:03Speaker 50: I don't know.
- 1:57:05Speaker 15: That's not what you do.
- 1:57:06Speaker 50: If I wasn't guilty, I'm not going in.
- 1:57:08Speaker 6: And promise you, they'd kick me out. I understand that.
- 1:57:11Speaker 6: My client told me he wasn't guilty. I said, look,
- 1:57:14Speaker 6: let's go down. Let me take you to the Warren
- 1:57:16Speaker 6: Municipal Court. Let me take you into the courtroom and
- 1:57:19Speaker 6: maybe the judge will hear me. She did not hear me.
- 1:57:22Speaker 30: Oh, my God.
- 1:57:24Speaker 50: That's like the worst thing. This is like disgusting.
- 1:57:27Speaker 6: Well, if you live in Trumbull County and especially the
- 1:57:30Speaker 6: city of Warren, you should be worried about how Diane
- 1:57:33Speaker 6: Barber wields her power. And the city law director should
- 1:57:37Speaker 6: do something about that. But he won't. She will face
- 1:57:41Speaker 6: zero repercussions. Zero. She will face zero repercussions for slamming
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: a door in my face. She will face zero repercussions
- 1:57:51Speaker 6: for failing to talk to me in the hallway. Nothing
- 1:57:54Speaker 6: will happen to her as a result of this injustice.
- 1:57:56Speaker 6: And it should. Diane Barber. That's her name. She's the
- 1:58:03Speaker 6: city prosecutor for the city of Warren. And the law
- 1:58:07Speaker 6: director for the city of Warren. should do something about it,
- 1:58:11Speaker 6: but he won't.
- 1:58:12Speaker 16: Right.
- 1:58:13Speaker 50: All right.
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:58:14Speaker 26: Thanks.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: Bye-bye. You're on the air.
- 1:58:17Speaker 43: Hello?
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead, please.
- 1:58:20Speaker 51: All right, thank you. Hey, Dave, first, you answered my question.
- 1:58:24Speaker 51: It's not my original question, but, you know, I'm glad
- 1:58:26Speaker 51: there were elected officials, so I hope my neighbors in
- 1:58:30Speaker 51: Ohio do something about it. Thanks for what you do.
- 1:58:32Speaker 51: I've got a real simple question for you.
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 1:58:36Speaker 51: My wife and I had a will drawn up three
- 1:58:38Speaker 51: or four years ago.
- 1:58:39Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:58:41Speaker 51: We live in Pittsburgh. That's neither here nor there, but,
- 1:58:44Speaker 51: you know, a Pittsburgh law firm. And I want to
- 1:58:47Speaker 51: make some changes to it. But I don't necessarily want
- 1:58:50Speaker 51: to work through that attorney's office. Do you have some
- 1:58:57Speaker 51: obligation to provide your client with a thumb drive or
- 1:59:00Speaker 51: something of that order where you can take that maybe
- 1:59:03Speaker 51: to another attorney or even make the changes yourself and
- 1:59:06Speaker 51: get it witnessed and so forth?
- 1:59:08Speaker 37: No.
- 1:59:09Speaker 6: If you have a will and they drew it up
- 1:59:11Speaker 6: and they gave it to you, they did what you
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: asked them to do. There's no rule that says they
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: have to give you a thumb drive or a Word
- 1:59:17Speaker 6: document or anything. If you want to change the will,
- 1:59:20Speaker 6: you're going to have to either write a codicil to
- 1:59:22Speaker 6: the will, which is an amendment to the will, or
- 1:59:24Speaker 6: drop a brand-new will. And I suggest people do that
- 1:59:28Speaker 6: because things change every five to ten years.
- 1:59:31Speaker 51: I've got to make some changes for sure. But, you know,
- 1:59:36Speaker 51: maybe this is a little public service for you. You know,
- 1:59:39Speaker 51: would you think about giving your client a thumb drive
- 1:59:41Speaker 51: of their will? I mean, it's their possession from what
- 1:59:44Speaker 51: I understand, correct?
- 1:59:44Speaker 40: Correct.
- 1:59:45Speaker 6: It is their possession, but there's nothing in my rules
- 1:59:48Speaker 6: that require me to give them a thumb drive.
- 1:59:50Speaker 51: I understand the requirement part of it.
- 1:59:52Speaker 36: I mean, if a client.
- 1:59:58Speaker 6: Requests me to send them the Word document, I can
- 2:00:00Speaker 6: do that, but there's no requirement. I would do that
- 2:00:04Speaker 6: just as a benefit.
- 2:00:07Speaker 51: A courtesy kind of thing, yeah.
- 2:00:09Speaker 6: But there's no requirement that they do that.
- 2:00:12Speaker 51: That's the same thing as a thumb drive, as far
- 2:00:14Speaker 51: as I'm concerned.
- 2:00:15Speaker 40: And then I can.
- 2:00:16Speaker 51: Do what I wish. So, okay, well, listen, that's very helpful.
- 2:00:20Speaker 51: And I'm so glad you're on tonight. I was afraid
- 2:00:23Speaker 51: the Indians would play the same thing, or the Guardians,
- 2:00:26Speaker 51: whatever they are.
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: They won.
- 2:00:28Speaker 42: Yeah, I know that.
- 2:00:29Speaker 51: They're not even supposed.
- 2:00:31Speaker 6: To be where they are. Now it's 2-1, and they're
- 2:00:34Speaker 6: two games away from the World Series.
- 2:00:37Speaker 40: Yep.
- 2:00:37Speaker 6: Go Guardians is all I've got to say.
- 2:00:40Speaker 51: Well, all I've got to say is.
- 2:00:41Speaker 6: We need a break in northeastern Ohio, and I think
- 2:00:44Speaker 6: the Guardians will just breathe life into this part of
- 2:00:48Speaker 6: the city.
- 2:00:49Speaker 51: And I'm stuck in Pittsburgh.
- 2:00:52Speaker 6: That's all right.
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: Pittsburgh's a great city.
- 2:00:54Speaker 51: We'll get them next year. Yeah.
- 2:00:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:00:56Speaker 40: Well, thanks, Dave.
- 2:00:57Speaker 51: And again, thanks for what you always do. I'll put
- 2:01:01Speaker 51: it that way.
- 2:01:02Speaker 16: Okay?
- 2:01:03Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: Thank you. I'm with Attorney David Beatrice. You're on the
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: air tonight. Hello there.
- 2:01:08Speaker 18: Oh, hello. My name is Cliff, and I want to
- 2:01:12Speaker 18: know if it's still possible to buy into Social Security
- 2:01:17Speaker 18: because I don't have enough credits to qualify for it.
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: Then you better go to work.
- 2:01:23Speaker 6: I don't think you could buy into Social Security.
- 2:01:26Speaker 17: Nope.
- 2:01:27Speaker 6: I'd have to check that out, but I don't think
- 2:01:28Speaker 6: that's a thing.
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: Call us Social Security, downtown Youngstown, and they'll answer it
- 2:01:32Speaker 2: for you.
- 2:01:33Speaker 17: All right.
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: Dave, we'll pause for a minute, and then we'll come
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: back with more. It's always good to have him with us.
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: Attorney David Beatrice tonight, NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: Stay tuned.
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: We'll be right back. For 50 years.
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: Sherrod Brown voted how.
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: This program is furnished by the program participants.
- 2:02:00Speaker 15: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 2:02:05Speaker 2: And so there we go from NewsRadio 570 WKBN. Back
- 2:02:11Speaker 2: to the action with Attorney David Beatrice on a legal
- 2:02:13Speaker 2: show brought to you by Beatrice Copp. And you're on
- 2:02:16Speaker 2: the air with Attorney Beatrice. Go ahead, please.
- 2:02:19Speaker 30: Hello?
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead.
- 2:02:20Speaker 43: Yeah, I had a question about Chapter 13. And I
- 2:02:25Speaker 43: was in, and I dismissed it, like, after three years
- 2:02:29Speaker 43: because I had to get a new car. There was
- 2:02:32Speaker 43: some hospital bills. There was some credit cards, back taxes,
- 2:02:37Speaker 43: and stuff like that. Like, the majority of that got
- 2:02:39Speaker 43: paid off. But I got out of it in July,
- 2:02:44Speaker 43: and I made the arrangements. There was one judgment for
- 2:02:46Speaker 43: a hospital bill that I have one payment left, and
- 2:02:49Speaker 43: I'll be done with that. And I made arrangements with
- 2:02:51Speaker 43: the IRS to pay them, like, $ 160 a month. I
- 2:02:56Speaker 43: had my attorney, or I mean my, not attorney, the
- 2:03:01Speaker 43: guy that got my mortgage, buddy I went to high
- 2:03:03Speaker 43: school with, he's a mortgage broker, pulled my credit, and
- 2:03:06Speaker 43: there was two or three things that were charged off,
- 2:03:09Speaker 43: and they haven't come back at me yet. I'm wondering
- 2:03:12Speaker 43: how long it takes for that to happen, or will
- 2:03:15Speaker 43: it happen?
- 2:03:17Speaker 6: I don't know. If someone you owe money to doesn't
- 2:03:20Speaker 6: try to collect it, I guess you could call them
- 2:03:23Speaker 6: and say, I want to settle this debt and then
- 2:03:25Speaker 6: update your credit report.
- 2:03:29Speaker 43: Yeah. Well, a couple of people I've talked to, the one,
- 2:03:33Speaker 43: the credit cards are, there's like two of them. One's
- 2:03:34Speaker 43: like 600 bucks and one's like 300. And the hospital
- 2:03:38Speaker 43: bill was like two grand and they settled for 1600.
- 2:03:40Speaker 43: As long as I paid them for 50 a month,
- 2:03:43Speaker 43: I started, I don't know what was in August paying them.
- 2:03:46Speaker 43: And then there's one for this place called one main financial.
- 2:03:49Speaker 43: It was like four grand, but with all this interest,
- 2:03:52Speaker 43: This ended up being $ 7, 000. It said charge off on
- 2:03:55Speaker 43: the printout he sent me to my email.
- 2:03:57Speaker 40: Yeah.
- 2:03:58Speaker 6: And that's the one he's like, don't wake the sleeping baby.
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: Don't bother him.
- 2:04:02Speaker 6: Well, but it's still showing up on your credit report.
- 2:04:06Speaker 30: Correct.
- 2:04:06Speaker 6: So you could write the credit agencies and say they
- 2:04:09Speaker 6: charge this off. You could do that.
- 2:04:12Speaker 16: Okay.
- 2:04:13Speaker 43: I mean, I just didn't know, like, out of the blue.
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: It's been four months.
- 2:04:18Speaker 43: Like a year from now, they're going to say, oh,
- 2:04:20Speaker 43: this guy, he got out of his bankruptcy a year ago.
- 2:04:23Speaker 43: Let's go after him, even though we charged it off.
- 2:04:26Speaker 6: Well, they could probably do that. They have, I think
- 2:04:29Speaker 6: it's six to eight years to come after you on
- 2:04:33Speaker 6: a written contract. But, you know, all you could do is,
- 2:04:39Speaker 6: you know, write the credit reporting agencies and say they
- 2:04:42Speaker 6: charged it off. Please take this off my credit report
- 2:04:45Speaker 6: and see what they do.
- 2:04:48Speaker 43: Okay, yeah, I know everybody was notified, like, in July,
- 2:04:50Speaker 43: because as soon as you dismiss it voluntarily, like, the
- 2:04:54Speaker 43: next day, that SOS group, it's a collection agency, called
- 2:04:58Speaker 43: me and sent a letter, and, like, you know, because
- 2:05:00Speaker 43: they had the judgment through Alliance Courts, Alliance Ohio, and immediately,
- 2:05:05Speaker 43: they're like, we, they were going to garnish my wages.
- 2:05:07Speaker 43: I'm like, well, let's, can we make a deal? I said,
- 2:05:10Speaker 43: how about we do, like, $ 1, 500, and I'll pay you
- 2:05:12Speaker 43: off in three months, and they were nice enough to
- 2:05:14Speaker 43: do that, and The bigger one I was worried about
- 2:05:17Speaker 43: is the one that's $ 7, 000 that didn't get paid on
- 2:05:21Speaker 43: it through the bankruptcy. I paid most of my stuff off.
- 2:05:24Speaker 43: I have obviously the IRS.
- 2:05:26Speaker 6: Well, you could call them and say, look, what can
- 2:05:29Speaker 6: I pay you to settle this debt to get it
- 2:05:32Speaker 6: off my account?
- 2:05:35Speaker 43: Yeah, he told me if you pay it off, you
- 2:05:37Speaker 43: want to either ask them if they're going to delete
- 2:05:40Speaker 43: it or they're just going to pay you to pay
- 2:05:42Speaker 43: it off because you want it deleted, I'm assuming. You
- 2:05:44Speaker 43: don't even want it on there.
- 2:05:46Speaker 6: Correct.
- 2:05:48Speaker 25: Okay.
- 2:05:49Speaker 43: Well, the only way to really get that off is
- 2:05:51Speaker 43: just make a deal with them, pay it off, and
- 2:05:55Speaker 43: move on with your life.
- 2:05:56Speaker 6: I just don't want it to stay on there. Exactly.
- 2:05:59Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 2:06:01Speaker 43: Okay, that's the thought I had to ask. I mean,
- 2:06:03Speaker 43: I appreciate your time.
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:06:05Speaker 6: All right, thank you for calling in.
- 2:06:07Speaker 2: With Attorney Beatrice.
- 2:06:08Speaker 6: I don't know where Jim Melfi came down here.
- 2:06:10Speaker 1: That's all right.
- 2:06:11Speaker 6: He made a special guest appearance, and then he left.
- 2:06:13Speaker 1: All right, well, that's all right. Let's take our next call.
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: You're on the air with Attorney Beatrice.
- 2:06:18Speaker 44: Dave.
- 2:06:18Speaker 16: Yes.
- 2:06:19Speaker 44: Can you tell me, should I hire an attorney or
- 2:06:21Speaker 44: somebody I went.
- 2:06:22Speaker 43: To high school with?
- 2:06:24Speaker 17: What?
- 2:06:25Speaker 1: He wants to know if he needs to hire an
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: attorney or somebody he went to high school with.
- 2:06:29Speaker 6: I don't know what he means by that.
- 2:06:30Speaker 17: All right.
- 2:06:31Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 2:06:34Speaker 23: Yeah, but.
- 2:06:36Speaker 44: The previous caller was talking about getting a thumb drive
- 2:06:41Speaker 44: of the legal papers. I think in the hospital they'll
- 2:06:44Speaker 44: give you, like, a copy of your x-rays and stuff.
- 2:06:48Speaker 44: But I was wondering if you could decipher what happened
- 2:06:53Speaker 44: with the ruling for the school funding in Ohio. I
- 2:06:59Speaker 44: know you don't like to get political. I just want
- 2:07:01Speaker 44: to decipher. I heard that like in the 1990s, the Ohio.
- 2:07:05Speaker 6: They did. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional and
- 2:07:10Speaker 6: it's never been remedied. Never.
- 2:07:13Speaker 44: So did they like drop it or something?
- 2:07:17Speaker 30: And nothing.
- 2:07:18Speaker 6: That's a good question. You just you have to scratch
- 2:07:20Speaker 6: your head and go, well, they ruled it unconstitutional, but
- 2:07:23Speaker 6: no one did anything about it. And so it's just
- 2:07:27Speaker 6: sort of out there.
- 2:07:29Speaker 10: Okay. All right.
- 2:07:30Speaker 43: Very good.
- 2:07:31Speaker 44: Hey, I appreciate the show, and I'm starting a new company.
- 2:07:35Speaker 44: It's called Dinghies R Us.
- 2:07:37Speaker 43: I didn't know if you wanted to.
- 2:07:40Speaker 6: Jim, you know, Justin Marcotta started with my dinghy case.
- 2:07:44Speaker 6: It got passed to Jim Melfi, and my dinghy is
- 2:07:48Speaker 6: still hanging out there unsettled. I don't know what to
- 2:07:50Speaker 6: do about it.
- 2:07:50Speaker 2: Your dinghy's gotten a lot of attention over the years,
- 2:07:52Speaker 2: but no.
- 2:07:53Speaker 1: It has.
- 2:07:54Speaker 2: It hasn't been.
- 2:07:59Speaker 30: Three.
- 2:08:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:08:01Speaker 1: Well, all right.
- 2:08:02Speaker 2: Thank you for bringing it up. His broken dinghy continues
- 2:08:05Speaker 2: to be an issue. You're on the air with Attorney
- 2:08:06Speaker 2: Beatrice tonight.
- 2:08:07Speaker 22: Hello.
- 2:08:09Speaker 44: Hello?
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead, please.
- 2:08:11Speaker 36: Yeah, I was listening to Dave last week, me and
- 2:08:14Speaker 36: my wife, and... He had us laughing so hard. I
- 2:08:21Speaker 36: have a prosthetic eye, and it almost fell out. I
- 2:08:24Speaker 36: was laughing so hard.
- 2:08:26Speaker 6: Well, I say if you can't laugh at yourself, you
- 2:08:28Speaker 6: can't laugh at anyone.
- 2:08:30Speaker 2: He had me going, too.
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: I'm the one that always.
- 2:08:32Speaker 6: I'm the one, I will self-deprecate with the best of them.
- 2:08:36Speaker 6: I'm not perfect.
- 2:08:37Speaker 25: Me and my wife, we.
- 2:08:38Speaker 36: Wait every Thursday just to listen to Dave, and I
- 2:08:41Speaker 36: just wonder if my eye falls out in the bridge,
- 2:08:44Speaker 36: can I sue Dave?
- 2:08:45Speaker 6: No, you can't. I'm sorry I made you laugh so hard,
- 2:08:48Speaker 6: but I'm glad you find enjoyment in the show. We
- 2:08:52Speaker 6: try to educate and have people like to listen to
- 2:08:56Speaker 6: the show at the same time. So thank you for
- 2:08:59Speaker 6: listening and thank you for that comment. And make sure
- 2:09:02Speaker 6: your false eye doesn't fall out.
- 2:09:04Speaker 36: Is your old dinghy for sale?
- 2:09:07Speaker 6: No, the insurance company took my old dinghy and offered
- 2:09:12Speaker 6: me less than scrap value. For my old dinghy, Jimmy
- 2:09:17Speaker 6: Melfi's not here to defend himself. Somehow he's let that
- 2:09:20Speaker 6: injustice go on for years now against me. Eventually my
- 2:09:25Speaker 6: dinghy case will be settled, but.
- 2:09:27Speaker 42: I don't know.
- 2:09:27Speaker 36: Well, I think you put a new motor in it.
- 2:09:30Speaker 6: Well, I could have done that, but the insurance company
- 2:09:32Speaker 6: took possession of it and then offered me less than
- 2:09:36Speaker 6: what the scrap value of it was.
- 2:09:41Speaker 2: Right now you have a smaller dinghy than you used to, right, Dave?
- 2:09:44Speaker 6: That's true.
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:09:46Speaker 30: Probably because of the weather.
- 2:09:47Speaker 51: Okay, guys.
- 2:09:48Speaker 40: Thanks a lot.
- 2:09:49Speaker 2: Could be. You're on the air with Attorney David Beatrice.
- 2:09:53Speaker 2: Legal show brought to you by Beatrice Copp.
- 2:09:55Speaker 29: Hello?
- 2:09:56Speaker 1: Yes, go ahead, please.
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: Go ahead, caller.
- 2:10:03Speaker 29: Hello?
- 2:10:04Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead. Hi, Ron.
- 2:10:07Speaker 29: My name's Richard from Salem, and I have two issues
- 2:10:10Speaker 29: that I'd like to talk to the attorneys about.
- 2:10:12Speaker 6: Go right ahead.
- 2:10:14Speaker 29: One is concerning a piece of land that my sister
- 2:10:17Speaker 29: owns that she has recently sold, but it was in
- 2:10:19Speaker 29: the last six months. The title company has come back
- 2:10:23Speaker 29: through the realtor to her and is asking her to
- 2:10:28Speaker 29: come back in and signing a quick claim deed for
- 2:10:31Speaker 29: the mineral rights.
- 2:10:36Speaker 6: Okay. What's your question?
- 2:10:39Speaker 29: She has no idea whether she even owns the mineral
- 2:10:41Speaker 29: rights or Because she got it through my other sister.
- 2:10:46Speaker 29: And we thought that this was the job of the
- 2:10:48Speaker 29: title company to do a title search.
- 2:10:51Speaker 24: It is.
- 2:10:51Speaker 29: To find out.
- 2:10:52Speaker 6: So you should look at the title that they did
- 2:10:55Speaker 6: and see if the mineral rights were included in the
- 2:11:01Speaker 6: title report.
- 2:11:04Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 2:11:04Speaker 29: And these things, as far as, I mean, she went
- 2:11:06Speaker 29: into the title company, signed all the paperwork. The title
- 2:11:11Speaker 29: was transferred to the new owner, and it didn't even
- 2:11:18Speaker 29: cross her mind that the mineral rights possibly could be
- 2:11:22Speaker 29: separated from the land.
- 2:11:25Speaker 6: Well, obviously they are because they're asking her to sign
- 2:11:28Speaker 6: a quick claim deed over for the mineral rights.
- 2:11:32Speaker 29: Should they be able to show her something saying that
- 2:11:34Speaker 29: she owns it?
- 2:11:35Speaker 6: Absolutely they should, and I would demand it.
- 2:11:38Speaker 29: She is demanding it from them, and she has told
- 2:11:40Speaker 29: them she will not come back in until they can
- 2:11:43Speaker 29: show her that she owned the mineral rights. There was
- 2:11:48Speaker 29: something that showed that she owned the mineral rights because
- 2:11:51Speaker 29: they're just asking her to sign a quick claim deed
- 2:11:55Speaker 29: for those rights.
- 2:11:57Speaker 6: Good for her.
- 2:11:59Speaker 29: Okay, I know she's listening. I know right now she's
- 2:12:02Speaker 29: laughing really hard because she's a little shy. Okay.
- 2:12:06Speaker 22: It's okay.
- 2:12:07Speaker 29: And she asked me to call. I'm a little shy, too.
- 2:12:10Speaker 6: I don't know if you realize that about me.
- 2:12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you're very shy. What's your next question, caller?
- 2:12:15Speaker 29: Okay, the next question is that the place where I live,
- 2:12:21Speaker 29: we had some problems with our boiler system in our
- 2:12:23Speaker 29: house a couple years ago. And we had a local
- 2:12:27Speaker 29: company come out. It's a plumbing HVAC company come out
- 2:12:32Speaker 29: to work on it. And they said, hey, your wiring harness,
- 2:12:36Speaker 29: one of the wires popped out of a connector, but
- 2:12:37Speaker 29: we can make it work and we'll order you a
- 2:12:39Speaker 29: new one. Well, I never heard back from them for
- 2:12:42Speaker 29: a long time. I sat there and ran and worked
- 2:12:46Speaker 29: with the little bit of fix that they did. And
- 2:12:49Speaker 29: then I thought to myself, I probably should, as a
- 2:12:51Speaker 29: good homeowner, I should have some maintenance done on this.
- 2:12:55Speaker 29: And I called them. I said, well, come back out,
- 2:12:58Speaker 29: open up the chamber where the fire is and clean
- 2:13:03Speaker 29: anything out that might be there. And they said, hey,
- 2:13:08Speaker 29: you never fixed your wiring harness where the wire was bad.
- 2:13:14Speaker 29: And I said, well, you were supposed to order that
- 2:13:15Speaker 29: for me.
- 2:13:16Speaker 6: Yeah, and what did they say?
- 2:13:20Speaker 29: They said they would put it on order. Yeah.
- 2:13:24Speaker 6: What I want everyone to learn from this caller is this.
- 2:13:28Speaker 6: When you talk to someone and they say they're going
- 2:13:31Speaker 6: to do something wrong, Always send a confirmatory email. Dear Mr.
- 2:13:38Speaker 6: Boiler Company, you told me my wire was bad and
- 2:13:41Speaker 6: you told me you were going to order the part.
- 2:13:44Speaker 6: I await further instructions from you. Signed, Joe Citizen. Now
- 2:13:49Speaker 6: you have documentary proof that you asked them about the part.
- 2:13:54Speaker 6: And because, you know, when you say, well, you told
- 2:13:57Speaker 6: me this and they could say, no, we didn't. And now.
- 2:14:00Speaker 6: When you send a confirmatory email, you're creating what's called
- 2:14:04Speaker 6: a paper trail. You always want to create what's called
- 2:14:08Speaker 6: a paper trail.
- 2:14:10Speaker 29: Well, the really bad part about this situation is that
- 2:14:14Speaker 29: they ended up doing some work at my daughter's house.
- 2:14:17Speaker 29: And I told my daughter I would take care of
- 2:14:21Speaker 29: the bill. And I did. I got the bill. And
- 2:14:28Speaker 29: I was texting back and forth. with my daughter while
- 2:14:31Speaker 29: they were there. So I know at times they were there. Well,
- 2:14:35Speaker 29: when I got the bill, they had padded it for
- 2:14:37Speaker 29: an extra $ 100 for an extra hour of labor. And
- 2:14:42Speaker 29: so I went to them and I said, hey, why
- 2:14:46Speaker 29: is there an extra $ 100 on here for another hour
- 2:14:48Speaker 29: of labor? They said, well, your daughter signed the receipt
- 2:14:53Speaker 29: that day that he did with a carbon copy of
- 2:14:59Speaker 29: And he put down his hours that he worked, and
- 2:15:01Speaker 29: your daughter signed it. Now you must pay it.
- 2:15:05Speaker 6: I hate to tell you this, but they're probably in
- 2:15:07Speaker 6: a better legal position than you.
- 2:15:09Speaker 2: Because they have a written.
- 2:15:11Speaker 6: Contract saying what they did and your daughter affirming it.
- 2:15:15Speaker 6: And now you want to modify a written contract from
- 2:15:18Speaker 6: something oral.
- 2:15:19Speaker 29: Well, it gets worse than that.
- 2:15:23Speaker 6: Oh, gosh. What happened then?
- 2:15:26Speaker 29: They did not write down the hours that they were there.
- 2:15:29Speaker 29: It does not appear on the carbon copy. They wrote
- 2:15:32Speaker 29: in the hours after they got back to the shop,
- 2:15:34Speaker 29: and she never signed it.
- 2:15:35Speaker 6: Here's the question. Did you pay them the extra $ 100?
- 2:15:40Speaker 29: Well, I did, and they paid me back.
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:15:44Speaker 29: It's getting worse.
- 2:15:47Speaker 30: When I was there.
- 2:15:49Speaker 6: Why are we even arguing over a $ 100 bill?
- 2:15:51Speaker 29: No, we're not.
- 2:15:52Speaker 40: It isn't that.
- 2:15:54Speaker 29: We're going back now to my boiler that they said
- 2:15:57Speaker 29: they would get a wiring harness for me. I told
- 2:16:00Speaker 29: them I went. I stood right at their counter in
- 2:16:03Speaker 29: their business, and I said, you're fired.
- 2:16:07Speaker 22: Okay.
- 2:16:07Speaker 29: You don't have the harness. I don't want you coming
- 2:16:10Speaker 29: to my house to do the labor.
- 2:16:12Speaker 6: Okay.
- 2:16:13Speaker 29: I said, I don't want you contacting me. Okay. Well,
- 2:16:17Speaker 29: about four months later, they started trying to call me. Hey,
- 2:16:23Speaker 29: we have your part. We want to come put it in.
- 2:16:25Speaker 30: And?
- 2:16:27Speaker 29: I didn't answer them.
- 2:16:29Speaker 30: They sent me a bill.
- 2:16:30Speaker 29: They sent me a bill for the labor, and they
- 2:16:32Speaker 29: sent me a bill for the part.
- 2:16:33Speaker 6: The labor for what? They didn't install it.
- 2:16:37Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 2:16:39Speaker 6: But you didn't send a confirmatory email out. So now
- 2:16:43Speaker 6: they're going to say, well, he told us to order
- 2:16:45Speaker 6: the part. So now that's what you're in a tiff about.
- 2:16:51Speaker 6: Now it's your word against theirs. And the judge is
- 2:16:54Speaker 6: going to have to make a call as to who
- 2:16:56Speaker 6: he or she believes, them or you.
- 2:16:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:17:00Speaker 29: So how should I proceed? Should I call them and
- 2:17:05Speaker 29: just say, I fired you from this job at the
- 2:17:07Speaker 29: end of July of 2025?
- 2:17:08Speaker 6: No, I wouldn't call anyone. I would send them an
- 2:17:12Speaker 6: email laying out what your position is and see if
- 2:17:18Speaker 6: they respond to you.
- 2:17:20Speaker 40: Okay.
- 2:17:23Speaker 6: When you call someone and you don't have a writing,
- 2:17:27Speaker 6: it's very subjective, and judges then have to make a
- 2:17:32Speaker 6: credibility call. If you have something in writing, although it's
- 2:17:36Speaker 6: not required, but if you have something in writing, that's
- 2:17:40Speaker 6: better evidence than your memory, believe it or not.
- 2:17:46Speaker 30: Okay.
- 2:17:47Speaker 43: All right.
- 2:17:48Speaker 29: I can send them an email, and I can see
- 2:17:50Speaker 29: how they respond.
- 2:17:51Speaker 6: That's what I would suggest you do.
- 2:17:53Speaker 10: Okay.
- 2:17:54Speaker 29: I appreciate your time. I'm really glad you gave this
- 2:17:57Speaker 29: service out to us.
- 2:17:58Speaker 6: Thank you for calling in. I appreciate it.
- 2:18:01Speaker 17: All right.
- 2:18:01Speaker 29: Thank you so much.
- 2:18:02Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:18:03Speaker 2: You're on the air with Attorney David Beatrice, The Legal
- 2:18:05Speaker 2: Show brought to you by Beatrice Copp.
- 2:18:06Speaker 12: Hello.
- 2:18:08Speaker 6: Chick-fil-A has Jesus Christ original.
- 2:18:11Speaker 1: Okay, the guy's just a goofball.
- 2:18:14Speaker 6: How did you let him get through, Ron? What does
- 2:18:17Speaker 6: Jesus have to do with Chick-fil-A is what I'd.
- 2:18:19Speaker 1: Like to know. I don't know.
- 2:18:21Speaker 6: Chick-fil-A does have some awesome chicken sandwiches, but I don't know.
- 2:18:24Speaker 6: I don't know if Jesus would eat there or not,
- 2:18:26Speaker 6: and I don't know what relevance that has.
- 2:18:28Speaker 1: I know I did today for lunch, and it was delicious.
- 2:18:30Speaker 6: They do have good chicken sandwiches, I've got to tell you.
- 2:18:33Speaker 2: Right. I'll go along with that 100% of the time.
- 2:18:36Speaker 2: There's no question in my mind. It's amazing.
- 2:18:39Speaker 6: No matter where there's a Chick-fil-A, there's always a line.
- 2:18:42Speaker 6: No matter what time of the day you drive by,
- 2:18:45Speaker 6: there's a line at a Chick-fil-A. I'm like, are they
- 2:18:47Speaker 6: giving away gold in this place? They have like four
- 2:18:51Speaker 6: drive-thru lanes, and they're always packed.
- 2:18:53Speaker 2: And the lemonade's good.
- 2:18:55Speaker 1: The chicken's good.
- 2:18:56Speaker 2: Everything's good about Chick-fil-A.
- 2:18:57Speaker 6: They have a good product.
- 2:18:59Speaker 1: And the prices are reasonable.
- 2:19:00Speaker 17: Yes.
- 2:19:01Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it's all good. Let's just put
- 2:19:05Speaker 2: it that way. So what are you doing tomorrow morning
- 2:19:08Speaker 2: before I run out of time?
- 2:19:09Speaker 6: On WFMJ Today, I'm talking about the recent roller coaster
- 2:19:14Speaker 6: accidents at Six Flags Over Georgia and whether or not
- 2:19:19Speaker 6: the people that got injured assumed that risk. You ride
- 2:19:24Speaker 6: a roller coaster.
- 2:19:25Speaker 2: That's going to be an interesting topic. I was listening
- 2:19:28Speaker 2: to a girl that worked at the amusement park, and
- 2:19:32Speaker 2: she said what people don't understand is, she said, I
- 2:19:34Speaker 2: would see people that would put napkins in their kids'
- 2:19:37Speaker 2: shoes to make them tall enough to.
- 2:19:38Speaker 1: Get on the ride.
- 2:19:39Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's not a good idea.
- 2:19:41Speaker 1: How stupid that is.
- 2:19:42Speaker 2: And basically, she was saying, and I'm not kidding you,
- 2:19:45Speaker 2: the problem was that this guy was too fat, that
- 2:19:48Speaker 2: the bar couldn't either did one, had a hard time
- 2:19:51Speaker 2: locking in place, or only... only locked one time because
- 2:19:54Speaker 2: of the size of the gentleman.
- 2:19:57Speaker 6: Yeah, well, if he was too heavy to ride the ride,
- 2:20:00Speaker 6: they shouldn't have let him ride the ride. You know,
- 2:20:05Speaker 6: when you go to an amusement park, you don't assume
- 2:20:08Speaker 6: that there's going to be faulty equipment or that you
- 2:20:13Speaker 6: are on a ride you shouldn't be on. Now, when
- 2:20:16Speaker 6: I was a little heavier, I had to suffer the
- 2:20:18Speaker 6: indignity at cedar point tell me about a bar that
- 2:20:22Speaker 6: wouldn't close over my belly when i was at my
- 2:20:25Speaker 6: heaviest really and they kicked me off the ride yeah
- 2:20:28Speaker 6: i was with congressman tim ryan at the time and
- 2:20:30Speaker 6: it was a little embarrassing i'll be honest with you.
- 2:20:33Speaker 2: Really really don't know are you serious.
- 2:20:37Speaker 6: Yeah at one time my my heaviest i was 270
- 2:20:40Speaker 6: pounds and tim come up to visit and i took
- 2:20:43Speaker 6: him for a boat ride and we went over to
- 2:20:45Speaker 6: cedar point with his children are much younger And we
- 2:20:48Speaker 6: went to go on a ride, and the bar wouldn't shut.
- 2:20:51Speaker 6: And they kicked me off the ride.
- 2:20:53Speaker 2: They came to you and said, you have to get off.
- 2:20:55Speaker 2: You're too fat.
- 2:20:57Speaker 6: They didn't say it like that. They just said, we
- 2:20:59Speaker 6: can't get the safety bar down. You're not allowed to ride.
- 2:21:04Speaker 1: But, I mean, basically they were saying, you're too fat.
- 2:21:06Speaker 1: We can't get the bar on.
- 2:21:07Speaker 6: They didn't say that to me, but that was basically
- 2:21:10Speaker 6: I was too heavy to ride because the safety bar
- 2:21:13Speaker 6: wouldn't lock in place.
- 2:21:14Speaker 1: That had to be humiliating.
- 2:21:16Speaker 6: It was totally humiliating, but I got over it.
- 2:21:18Speaker 2: So you had to get up and get out of
- 2:21:20Speaker 2: the ride, and where did you go then? I probably
- 2:21:22Speaker 2: went down to get something to eat. I went and
- 2:21:23Speaker 2: got some cotton candy. I was so depressed, I said, well,
- 2:21:29Speaker 2: I've got to eat some more. And a soda to
- 2:21:33Speaker 2: wash it down with, right?
- 2:21:35Speaker 6: Right. Big, regular Coke. And 500 grams of sugar. Because
- 2:21:43Speaker 6: when you're 260 pounds, you really don't give a crap
- 2:21:45Speaker 6: at that point. I got on a scale this morning.
- 2:21:51Speaker 6: I was 208. This is the lightest I've been in
- 2:21:54Speaker 6: a long time.
- 2:21:55Speaker 1: What do you attribute that to? Is it from working
- 2:21:57Speaker 1: out all the time, or how do you get down.
- 2:21:58Speaker 2: And stay down?
- 2:22:00Speaker 6: I'm too embarrassed to tell you.
- 2:22:02Speaker 1: No, we want to know.
- 2:22:04Speaker 6: I went on a sardine fast.
- 2:22:05Speaker 2: A what?
- 2:22:07Speaker 6: A sardine fast I learned on YouTube.
- 2:22:09Speaker 2: What is that?
- 2:22:11Speaker 6: You eat sardines, only sardines, three times a day for
- 2:22:15Speaker 6: five days. And so far I've lost 10 pounds.
- 2:22:19Speaker 2: Eating sardines?
- 2:22:21Speaker 6: Yeah, it's gross. They smell. People at the office complain.
- 2:22:24Speaker 6: I have to eat them outside. I have to open
- 2:22:27Speaker 6: the can and eat it outside and then throw it
- 2:22:28Speaker 6: away in the trash for something. And then when I
- 2:22:31Speaker 6: walk in, they go, we could smell it on your breath.
- 2:22:34Speaker 6: And all my employees and all my associates were making
- 2:22:37Speaker 6: fun of me. They go, Your breath smells like sardines,
- 2:22:40Speaker 6: so I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.
- 2:22:42Speaker 1: And it's working, though.
- 2:22:45Speaker 6: It seems to be working. You can look it up
- 2:22:46Speaker 6: on YouTube, the Sardine Fast.
- 2:22:48Speaker 29: Thank you, David.
- 2:22:49Speaker 2: Enjoy it. All right, The Legal Show brought to you
- 2:22:51Speaker 2: by Beatrice Kopp on NewsRadio 570 WKB and John Arnold next.
