- 0:10Speaker 1: here to win a thousand. I'm here to win one
- 0:12Speaker 1: hundred thousand, that's right. Uh, not here to win a thousand.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Here to win a grand day. I mean one hundred
- 0:21Speaker 1: grand day every time. Yeah not yeah, a grinde. But
- 0:24Speaker 1: I guess would be a thousand. What am I gonna
- 0:25Speaker 1: do with a thousand bucks? Exactly? I mean our reality,
- 0:28Speaker 1: I don't get home. You could get a vibration plate,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and now I could do that. Yeah, just shake it
- 0:34Speaker 1: all out. I just uh, I just ordered another one
- 0:37Speaker 1: because I had to commit to the first one, so
- 0:40Speaker 1: I ordered another one. But this one's got red light therapy.
- 0:43Speaker 1: You need to be streaming while you shake. I know.
- 0:46Speaker 1: This morning, though, Wilks's dog sitting, So on that side
- 0:50Speaker 1: of the house, in a room near there is my
- 0:54Speaker 1: vibration plate, and I didn't move it. So I just
- 0:56Speaker 1: took a twenty minute walk. But on the water. It's
- 1:00Speaker 1: nice dog sitting. But y'all are host of the dog exactly. Okay, yeah, okay,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm not doing anything with the dog, but he's dog sitting.
- 1:09Speaker 1: How big of a dog.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Is this.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I don't know, it's like thirty pounds, okay, all right, yeah, yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 1: it may be bigger than that. I don't know how
- 1:23Speaker 1: to tell because he will skipping the dog. No, I
- 1:26Speaker 1: think this is going to make him. Uh well, first
- 1:28Speaker 1: of all, I think it's great. He's having to get
- 1:29Speaker 1: up every morning at six thirty and so it's it's
- 1:36Speaker 1: really funny, and I'm enter, I'm entertained because he's kind of,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you know, just be bopping around the last part of
- 1:45Speaker 1: the summer since getting home from Washington, d C. Which
- 1:47Speaker 1: is fine, right, I don't have a problem with it.
- 1:49Speaker 1: He's obviously come up here and he's doing some other things.
- 1:52Speaker 1: But I mean he'll be in startble and I think
- 1:55Speaker 1: the next few days, I don't exactly know what's I
- 1:58Speaker 1: don't ever know what his schedule us. But but yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 1: he's dog sitting and so uh, anyway, the vibration play
- 2:07Speaker 1: is over there, and I mean, you can't make a
- 2:09Speaker 1: sound without that dog getting up. So I'm already moving
- 2:12Speaker 1: around in the morning. I didn't wake it up this morning. Nice,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but but I'm also going through another door now in
- 2:19Speaker 1: the house. Uh, so you know, you just you adjust.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm doing that. The Dancing Rabbit

- 2:51Speaker 1: a big name on that. Right now, what else do
- 2:54Speaker 1: I want to do? Stella?

- 3:10Speaker 1: Drive in Nice. Yeah. Joe Cravens joined us on the show,
- 3:14Speaker 1: owner of Walker's Drive In, one of the iconic restaurants
- 3:19Speaker 1: in Jackson Proper in Fondred and so it was four
- 3:25Speaker 1: of us. We had redfish and a grouper special and
- 3:29Speaker 1: the sushi gray crusted tuna dish which was fabulous. Appetizers,
- 3:37Speaker 1: the crab cake calamari roasted oysters. Nice. That was that
- 3:43Speaker 1: was That was a whiskey sixty one beast last night
- 3:49Speaker 1: at Walker's Drive In. If you missed. Joe Craven's the
- 3:53Speaker 1: new owner who bought it from Derek Emerson. I almost
- 3:56Speaker 1: said Derek Zimmerman, but Derek Emerson. Then it's on YouTube
- 4:02Speaker 1: search out of Bounds Sports. That's the YouTube channel out
- 4:09Speaker 1: of Bound Sports. Eagle Cat Mike just sent me a
- 4:14Speaker 1: picture of the lake that he's on and it looks great,
- 4:21Speaker 1: looks like a good morning. It was a great morning
- 4:23Speaker 1: for a walk. I was a little laid out out
- 4:25Speaker 1: of the gate. I hit the pavement at about five
- 4:31Speaker 1: forty eight or forty nine, so I was behind just
- 4:34Speaker 1: a little bit, but it worked out. I decided to
- 4:37Speaker 1: push it. I mean, I can sit there and prompt
- 4:39Speaker 1: Claude and Gemini and chat the whole time if I
- 4:42Speaker 1: want to. I actually was listening to the Rolling Stone.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's a good bit. So Eagle Cat Mike says, enjoy
- 4:48Speaker 1: your trip to Kentucky. I can't wait. It's going to
- 4:51Speaker 1: be a hell of a food trip. We're going to
- 4:53Speaker 1: do some Elijah Craig tastings. I know y'all feel sorry
- 4:56Speaker 1: for me, but it's a fun I mean, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: some of y'all get company trips and conferences, and that
- 5:03Speaker 1: really wasn't the world that we lived in for whatever reason.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And although it sounds good, conferences on the Water sound great.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But I do love going to Kentucky. The food is fabulous.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Louisville and Lexington have been good to me. We'll spend
- 5:17Speaker 1: a little time in Bardstown and Elizabethtown and but the
- 5:24Speaker 1: I looked at our food schedule, our culinary meals, and
- 5:31Speaker 1: it's gonna be fabulous. I'm excited. I went to Jeff
- 5:37Speaker 1: Ruby's last year, and I've been a few times, but
- 5:43Speaker 1: that is on the list. Then there was I think
- 5:46Speaker 1: one of the places I haven't been so looking forward
- 5:49Speaker 1: to that. Probably gonna have to talk to Jeff Brohm,
- 5:52Speaker 1: head football coach at the University of Louisville. Louisville Ole Miss.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's like one of the big games. I mean, I
- 5:58Speaker 1: know Lane will steal the show that we kim hosting Clemson,
- 6:01Speaker 1: but Old Miss and Louisville that weekend in Nashville has
- 6:05Speaker 1: got some spice to it, for sure. And I do
- 6:13Speaker 1: want to shoot. I at least want to shoot a
- 6:14Speaker 1: basket in the Young Center. I think, you know, I
- 6:19Speaker 1: don't even know if he's still alive. I hope he is,
- 6:22Speaker 1: But you know, Denny crom Owe's that to me. After
- 6:24Speaker 1: signing Kenny Payne away from Bob Boyd and so yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I was devastated in nineteen I don't remember what year
- 6:34Speaker 1: that was. I'm just gonna throw out nineteen eighty four.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I remember Bob Boyd taking Kenny Payne through the Duty Noble.
- 6:43Speaker 1: This was in the spring, so I'm assuming that's when
- 6:45Speaker 1: you took trips back then. Now there's I think more flexibility.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But remember Boyd walking Kenny Payne through the crowd at
- 6:55Speaker 1: an SEC weekend when Clark and Palmerow were playing. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: any son of Crumb. You were never gonna beat Crumb
- 7:03Speaker 1: and you weren't gonna bet the Louisville Cardinal Alumps in
- 7:06Speaker 1: a money game. Uh, then you could now and start
- 7:11Speaker 1: war Oxford. We are the out of bounds show. Uh well,
- 7:15Speaker 1: we're driven by your next GMC Sierra truck at Fowler
- 7:18Speaker 1: Fowler Fowler GMC pro Brandon.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I would say, getting to omahall is its equivalent maybe
- 7:33Speaker 3: to a sweet sixteen in basketball Mayfield shotgun by maybe
- 7:38Speaker 3: around to thirty two.
- 7:39Speaker 1: All right, there you go, Ole Miss fans. That was
- 7:42Speaker 1: from an Ole Miss fan. We are the out of
- 7:44Speaker 1: Bound Show, ESPN one oh five nine, The zoned.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I would say, getting to Omaha is It's equivalent maybe
- 7:51Speaker 3: to a sweet sixteen in basketball Mayfield Poor shotgun by
- 7:55Speaker 3: maybe around to thirty.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Two e PN one oh five nine The Zone, Live
- 8:03Speaker 1: in the Bank plus Studio, Good morning to you. We've
- 8:06Speaker 1: got straight funk with us, and he made it. He's
- 8:11Speaker 1: he's juggling two different cars doing crazy stuff. That's why
- 8:17Speaker 1: you got Peter Patrick. That's right, Peter Patrick Tires and service.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Are they on four to seventy one? I mean I've
- 8:25Speaker 1: been there, Yes, I just got tires on Wilkes's car.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I was there. Yeah, yeah, I was there on one day.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You wouldn't have any idea with I think it's four
- 8:37Speaker 1: seventy one. Peter Patrick tire spot in Rankin County. That guy,
- 8:44Speaker 1: he's awesome. He gave me two jars of pickles. Nice,
- 8:49Speaker 1: love them. I love a pickle with the Boor's Head
- 8:51Speaker 1: sandwich or burger and so I've had like two or
- 8:57Speaker 1: three Boarshead sandwiches in the last few days and they're
- 9:01Speaker 1: in the fields right now. Get more. So I'm sure
- 9:04Speaker 1: they'll send a Okay, yeah, I do need some Peter
- 9:08Speaker 1: Patrick tires. Yeah. Those guys are those guys are cats, Yeah, totally.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think they run ranking county. I think people have
- 9:17Speaker 1: been elected in their uh sitting area or unelected.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That's right.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I shout out to Peter Patrick and Dan Patrick. That's
- 9:26Speaker 1: his brother, that's right, that's his son, that's his son.
- 9:29Speaker 1: They is a vegetable guy. They're making it all shaped. Okay,
- 9:34Speaker 1: they weren't. Yeah, they do to have that. Yeah, but
- 9:40Speaker 1: hey man, that you know. One of the last times
- 9:42Speaker 1: I was in there, they had a guy come in
- 9:43Speaker 1: and say they heard about the vegetables and the produce
- 9:45Speaker 1: on the out of Bound show. So oh really, yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: that's awesome. I was standing right there. I was like, hey,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about. Love it. Those guys
- 9:54Speaker 1: are there, all right, not the best, they're okay. Then
- 9:59Speaker 1: he realized who I was. It was nice. It was
- 10:00Speaker 1: a good thing. Oh, I was glad to see. Did
- 10:02Speaker 1: he know you were straight funk?
- 10:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 10:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, I want to open my mouth. You know,
- 10:07Speaker 1: I forget My dad told me I have a face
- 10:09Speaker 1: for radio. So that's so we stay on the accurate. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I mean you know, yeah you didn't. You didn't get
- 10:14Speaker 1: Jordan's looks, well, so she got mine. Hey, I do
- 10:18Speaker 1: want to say this and again, good morning welcome in.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Had dinner last night at Walker's Drive in another great
- 10:26Speaker 1: Jackson restaurant, highly recommend, excited for for Joe Craven's and
- 10:30Speaker 1: the team dinner was fabulous and it was packed. It's
- 10:36Speaker 1: National Lasagna Day, so that takes me to taste Italian kitchen.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I love lazagna with a good glass of Petite Sarah
- 10:45Speaker 1: or something. Uh, and so taste Italian kitchen in the Renaissance.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Has they served lasagna for lunch and dinner course? Lasagna
- 10:56Speaker 1: is one of those things you can get to go
- 10:57Speaker 1: and it's still fabulous. Uh. Taste Italian Kitchen dot com
- 11:02Speaker 1: in the Renaissance and in Starbus so boom bang bam.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Let's see. Do do I cook lasagna at home? I
- 11:13Speaker 1: do not. Now Wendy will buy lazagna. She has made
- 11:17Speaker 1: lasagna before, but she'll also buy like really high quality
- 11:21Speaker 1: lasagna what someplace. I don't know, but I mean it's
- 11:25Speaker 1: easy for the renaissances less than ten minutes from my home,
- 11:29Speaker 1: so it's easier for me to just go by and
- 11:34Speaker 1: get an order. Whinny and nink split it. And that's
- 11:36Speaker 1: where we are in life. It's easy and uh a
- 11:39Speaker 1: lot easier to go to the grocery store. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I mean ooh, meat sauce or bowlonaise. I can't go
- 11:48Speaker 1: wrong either way. I gotta think that through. Okay, what
- 11:55Speaker 1: would I pair with it as far as spirits, well,
- 12:00Speaker 1: spallone reposato would be delicious, Tito's Espresso Martini.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:10Speaker 1: It's also National Chicken Wing Day. I got to give
- 12:12Speaker 1: a shout out to Martin's and Livingston, Joseph and the team.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He's cooked wings for it and we're trying to get
- 12:18Speaker 1: he's been traveling, I've been out. We got to get
- 12:21Speaker 1: Joseph back in and get the wing game going. Yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 1: he's cooked us wings in studio several times, Martin's and
- 12:29Speaker 1: Livingston for the win Wings. Other spots two brothers in Starville,
- 12:35Speaker 1: best wings in the SEC. Barton kind of changed the
- 12:39Speaker 1: game with wings in twenty four. Nobody knew that you
- 12:43Speaker 1: could do that. I another good spot for wings and
- 12:48Speaker 1: then Burger's Blues Barbecues, sneaky good Dogwood Flowood last night. Yeah.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I came from I'm right beside the wind flowood all
- 13:00Speaker 1: the way out here to get the tacos. Tacos are good,
- 13:05Speaker 1: and you said they're eventually going to serve the tacos
- 13:08Speaker 1: at Dogwood flow Wood. Well that's the the you know,
- 13:10Speaker 1: they running the tests. You know, they gotta test them out.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I love it.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I like it too. So there, they've got tacos at
- 13:17Speaker 1: B three in Madison, and whichever one's role, they're going
- 13:21Speaker 1: to drop them at B three, Dogwood flow Wood. Two bangers.
- 13:23Speaker 1: They got the barbecue one in the Southwest. One got
- 13:27Speaker 1: you in their head. Okay, your choice of meat. I
- 13:30Speaker 1: love wings. You can get brisket in there. I love wings.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I love an ice cold beer, buddies and a ball game.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Pretty good. Yeah, Martin's in Livingston, two Brothers in Starbull
- 13:43Speaker 1: B three and Dogwood flow Wood. All right. Yeah, some
- 13:47Speaker 1: people like the dry rubs, some up some sauce. I
- 13:49Speaker 1: can go either way. I like really light on the sauce.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Barton's are dry at two Brothers and they're just banging.
- 13:59Speaker 1: The wings are fabulous. In fact, I got to go
- 14:01Speaker 1: up there today. I may have to drop in if
- 14:03Speaker 1: I can get there by I still got a meeting here.
- 14:08Speaker 1: If I can get there by two o'clock, that's got
- 14:11Speaker 1: to be a little mid afternoon snack. And uh, And
- 14:15Speaker 1: they haven't seen me in in a while. I don't
- 14:19Speaker 1: know how long I ran up there to help Ella
- 14:22Speaker 1: Hall move, but I was only there for two hours. Uh,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I know I was there for the regional. Surely I've
- 14:32Speaker 1: been back. I don't know, bet twice where you thought
- 14:35Speaker 1: I went for something else? Yeah, I think so? Yeah, Okay,
- 14:41Speaker 1: well maybe I haven't spent the night there since the Regional.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I can't remember. To think, I'll have to go into debation.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I would love to know what happened when Barton realized
- 14:53Speaker 1: like what he did. Yeah, you know, that's a good point.
- 14:56Speaker 1: When when the floodgates opened. Yeah, like he's like, all right,
- 14:58Speaker 1: this is this got it. I've been well and so
- 15:02Speaker 1: he had been a pitmaster for a while and then
- 15:05Speaker 1: he's got this in these incredible smokers and he actually
- 15:09Speaker 1: smokes the wings and then once he rolled them out.
- 15:14Speaker 1: That's a good question. When did he know, oh wow,
- 15:16Speaker 1: watch out. Yeah, it was early, it had to have been.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Well.
- 15:21Speaker 1: The Cotton district was chomping at the bit for a
- 15:27Speaker 1: good spot like that bad and you know, they outgrew
- 15:32Speaker 1: that spot in one year and then they built the
- 15:35Speaker 1: new spot, which is two stories and several balconies and
- 15:39Speaker 1: outdoor areas and all that. So they had to do it.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And then that what they did is they drew more culinary,
- 15:46Speaker 1: in no doubt Commodore Bob's. And then you know, a
- 15:51Speaker 1: rapist is now where Commodore Bob's is because they outgrew
- 15:53Speaker 1: that space and now they're a couple hundred yards down
- 15:56Speaker 1: the street. And then well the Bend was there, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Ben's been been there. That's where Strickland and I used
- 16:05Speaker 1: to eat lunch. He loved that place a show. And
- 16:11Speaker 1: then you've got all the little bars that pop up. Hoby,
- 16:14Speaker 1: you know, Hoby put a super cool bar. He moved
- 16:17Speaker 1: from down Towntown, which is still a great spot, but
- 16:21Speaker 1: he he dropped Hoby's now in the Cotton District. It's awesome.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I mean it's got a really sweet uh he's on Maxwell.
- 16:32Speaker 1: He's right down from the Cotton District Grill or whatever
- 16:34Speaker 1: it is now the Mexican Place. All right, So it's
- 16:38Speaker 1: National Asagnia Day. Shout out to taste Italian Kitchen, National
- 16:42Speaker 1: Wings Day. I mean these are great. This is great
- 16:46Speaker 1: Martin's and Livingston Wings for the wind Baby, Good morning,
- 16:49Speaker 1: welcome in, uh game day food. I'm loving it. We're
- 16:52Speaker 1: getting that much closer to football. Bourbon Country's calling me
- 16:56Speaker 1: and Horse Country and uh, we'll be back in a
- 16:59Speaker 1: second kitchen dot com In fact, I mean just order
- 17:08Speaker 1: one person ordered the lasagna and the other the bolonnaise
- 17:12Speaker 1: and just share it and uh and then you're having
- 17:16Speaker 1: a party, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, with the
- 17:18Speaker 1: Titos espresso Martini tastes Italian Kitchen dot Com to make
- 17:23Speaker 1: a reservation. Lasagna fabulous, love it. I could eat that
- 17:28Speaker 1: all the time, no, no doubt about it. That's that's
- 17:31Speaker 1: Ella Hall's favorite Lasagna tastes the Italian Kitchen. How many
- 17:36Speaker 1: times did we go and either get that there or
- 17:41Speaker 1: to go order? Who knew that?
- 17:44Speaker 2: You know?
- 17:44Speaker 1: When we moved out to the lake, nobody would deliver
- 17:47Speaker 1: to us and uh and then there was this one
- 17:50Speaker 1: window like three years in where the pizza spot right
- 17:53Speaker 1: up here by Kroger and Colony crossing. I remember what
- 17:59Speaker 1: it was called pizza in something like that. It delivered
- 18:04Speaker 1: to us for like five seconds and then and then
- 18:07Speaker 1: they they didn't and then we went another chunk of
- 18:13Speaker 1: time and then now you know, you can get door
- 18:18Speaker 1: dash or what's the other one, The one you we
- 18:21Speaker 1: used to use was waiter No, but it was another one.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Asap is what it's called. Now there's uh oh, grub
- 18:28Speaker 1: hub or uber eats. Yeah, but I don't. I don't
- 18:32Speaker 1: ever use it. Whendy orders it or somebody does. But
- 18:36Speaker 1: we ordered, well, we got taste delivered to the house,
- 18:41Speaker 1: which was crazy because for years we didn't have that,
- 18:47Speaker 1: and so that that made it. That made it fun.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You know, it's too damn hot to cook at times,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and so we had our friends out and we were like,
- 18:56Speaker 1: we'll just get We'll just get pizza and or they
- 19:01Speaker 1: delivered it once they realized how far it was or there,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I'm done. Are you done a piece of nd years ago? Yeah, no,
- 19:06Speaker 1: it's not far, it's not. I mean, hell, we're closer
- 19:09Speaker 1: than most reunion in Johnstone and Annandale. But you couldn't
- 19:13Speaker 1: you couldn't explain it to him. Yeah, but see when
- 19:18Speaker 1: they come from the Renaissance, we're way closer than all
- 19:21Speaker 1: those down four sixty three because you're just cutting back
- 19:23Speaker 1: behind Bridgewater to get to us and uh or in
- 19:26Speaker 1: front of I don't care whichever way you say it.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But yeah, it's great now. I mean we had euros.
- 19:34Speaker 1: The other night delivered Lookout and it was you don't
- 19:39Speaker 1: even have to go anywhere, So life's good. Yeah, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: mean I like going out like we did last night
- 19:45Speaker 1: to Walker's driving. But but you know, on a late day,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm not getting in the car, so that that's not
- 19:53Speaker 1: or just certain days when you don't want to, man,
- 19:56Speaker 1: what is going on? I had no idea. I just
- 20:00Speaker 1: didn't even know it, right, I.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Mean, or do I not currently have a pulse?
- 20:05Speaker 1: Well, that's what I'm going to ask. That's Jeff Brohm
- 20:08Speaker 1: for our listeners. He's the head football coach for the
- 20:11Speaker 1: University of Louisville and ole Miss will play them in
- 20:15Speaker 1: Nashville Game one Week one. It's one of the bigger
- 20:18Speaker 1: games in the country. Week one. We don't have the sizzle.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Remember we didn't have anything for years and then kind
- 20:25Speaker 1: of the college football world started scheduling in a good
- 20:31Speaker 1: way for Week one and we went on about a
- 20:33Speaker 1: fifteen year stretch maybe And this year Clemson at LSU, Louisville,
- 20:40Speaker 1: ole Miss neutral field, Auburn, Baylor in Atlanta. You know
- 20:45Speaker 1: you got you got some stuff there. That's that's not
- 20:48Speaker 1: bad at all. I know, you just want ball. You
- 20:51Speaker 1: want to be able to, you know, bet twenty bucks
- 20:54Speaker 1: on the game and have some fun with it. So
- 21:00Speaker 1: don't blame you. I'm here for it. But anyway, this
- 21:03Speaker 1: is Jeff Brom.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Do I not currently have a pulse?
- 21:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask him that. I'm going to Louisville tomorrow,
- 21:11Speaker 1: so my first question when I walk in Jeff Bram's
- 21:14Speaker 1: office will be based around this. I will play this
- 21:17Speaker 1: on my phone for him.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Do I not currently have a pulse? Right?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Do you think I should take his pulse? Please? Get
- 21:25Speaker 1: a video live on YouTube. I'm taking Jeff Bram's pulse.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He'll be a fan, and I'm doing it for Pete
- 21:31Speaker 1: Golding so that Pete will know if he has a
- 21:33Speaker 1: pulse going into the game. A man, you need to know,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you gotta know. I'd like to know. Yeah. Week zero
- 21:41Speaker 1: games North Carolina TCU and Dublin Ireland. All right, the
- 21:45Speaker 1: cold Beers and whatever they eat in Ireland. North Carolina
- 21:49Speaker 1: with Belichick. He put Lombardi on administrative leave this week.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Usually don't come back from that, but occasionally you do.
- 21:56Speaker 1: North Carolina TCU. Oh got another power for matchup. I
- 22:03Speaker 1: didn't realize that got a conference game early. Look out
- 22:07Speaker 1: North Carolina State Virginia. Man, if you drop Dan Mullen
- 22:11Speaker 1: at Virginia, if you dropped him at n C State
- 22:14Speaker 1: or UVA in this new environment, he'd hurt some feelings
- 22:19Speaker 1: because that's not a I mean, they've got some good
- 22:22Speaker 1: teams at times in Miami was pretty damn good for
- 22:24Speaker 1: what we are today, but they're not. You know, Clemson's
- 22:28Speaker 1: lost its way. Florida State has no idea where they are.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Y'all know the drill. You drop Dan Mullen at a
- 22:37Speaker 1: at a cerebral school that's got money and doesn't really care,
- 22:42Speaker 1: but he can make them care a little bit. He
- 22:44Speaker 1: can wins seven to nine a year at in C
- 22:47Speaker 1: State or Virginia and every now and then he can
- 22:49Speaker 1: get that pop when he gets you know a qb Oh,
- 22:54Speaker 1: Dan Mullen's going to No, it's a home game, Okay,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I did not realize that. So Charles Hoff, who may
- 23:03Speaker 1: be a head coach in power for soon against Dan Mullen,
- 23:10Speaker 1: Charles Huff against Dan Mullen Week zero, all right in
- 23:16Speaker 1: Las Vegas for both Yeah, Allegiance Stadium, home of the
- 23:22Speaker 1: Las Vegas Raiders and Tom Brady and Fernando Mendoza and
- 23:26Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins, Memphis at UNLB. That's the late late game
- 23:32Speaker 1: Man nine o'clock on Fox, Dan Mullen, Charles Huff, Faith
- 23:38Speaker 1: the Over. We've received a lot of text on Huff
- 23:42Speaker 1: as a possible guide and start. Well, if Levy doesn't
- 23:46Speaker 1: make it, I don't know what that looks like. I
- 23:48Speaker 1: don't know if that's six or seven wins. Six to
- 23:51Speaker 1: me is you know, absolute and total mediocrity. You know,
- 23:56Speaker 1: running around talking about that does nothing for me. But
- 23:59Speaker 1: any way, but there is a clear path for I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 1: six to me would be solid at best. Coaching and
- 24:07Speaker 1: performance and execution. Got to find a way to get
- 24:11Speaker 1: some pop and get to seven and get get some
- 24:14Speaker 1: mojo and magic going. But Memphis UNLB, how about that?
- 24:18Speaker 1: So we got we got some games Week zero and
- 24:21Speaker 1: the Tito's the Tito's Vodka Bloody Marry game is North
- 24:24Speaker 1: Carolina TCU because it'll be whatever seven hours ahead over
- 24:29Speaker 1: in Dublin, Ireland. So eleven am you get Belichick against
- 24:35Speaker 1: is it Skip Holtz? Skill? Is that right? He was
- 24:40Speaker 1: in the National Championship Game like five years ago, got
- 24:42Speaker 1: beat sixty five to nothing. But Kirby smart and Kirby
- 24:47Speaker 1: took his foot off the pedal. Skip is currently I'm
- 24:53Speaker 1: getting that wrong. He was with a Birmingham Stallion. Okay,
- 24:56Speaker 1: so what's the guy's name? His dad was a coach
- 24:58Speaker 1: too at TCU. That is it Sonny, Yes, Dykes? No?
- 25:06Speaker 2: No?
- 25:07Speaker 1: What can you look it up anyway? We're live in
- 25:11Speaker 1: the Bank plus studio. The Dancing Rabbit golf text line
- 25:14Speaker 1: is six oh one eight eight five three seven seven six.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Spike Dikes was his dad, Spike at Texas Tech. Mike
- 25:22Speaker 1: Leach took his place here, go Boom. Then he hired
- 25:25Speaker 1: Sonny Dikes I think as an assistant coach about twenty
- 25:29Speaker 1: six years ago. He bounced around. He may have gone
- 25:31Speaker 1: through LA Tech. He eventually ended up at TCU. They
- 25:35Speaker 1: were in the National Championship game against Curbs when Curbs
- 25:39Speaker 1: was three deep and he beat him sixty five to zero.
- 25:42Speaker 1: LA Tech Cal He went to Cal for some reason.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Cal Berkeley. Yeah. Wow. He was at SMU too before.
- 25:52Speaker 1: He was an SMU from eighteen to twenty one. Oh
- 25:55Speaker 1: and SMU was in G five. They're actually probably a
- 25:59Speaker 1: better job today with lastly and now going to the
- 26:03Speaker 1: ACC and all the money that they've raised, although TCU's
- 26:06Speaker 1: got a ton. They raised one hundred and seventy five million,
- 26:08Speaker 1: like fifteen years ago in five seconds for Gary Patterson.
- 26:11Speaker 1: So all those schools, even outside, even outside the big boys,
- 26:15Speaker 1: have crazy amount of money SMU, TCU in Texas Tech.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But okay, Dice went ten winsday, He had ten wins
- 26:22Speaker 1: season out there at SMU. Hey, okay, not bad. COVID
- 26:28Speaker 1: got him. They finished seventy three that year. Okay, okay,
- 26:32Speaker 1: that's not too shabby. He was eight and four and
- 26:34Speaker 1: twenty one. Okay, nice. And then he makes the jump
- 26:38Speaker 1: to TCU, that Big twelve. SMU now in the ACC.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Isn't that weird? Stanford and cal Berkeley in the ACC. Wait,
- 26:46Speaker 1: run that back now, TCU's what in the Big twelve? Okay, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 26:52Speaker 1: all right, yeah, so TCUs in the Big twelve, but
- 26:55Speaker 1: SMU's in the ACC. It's kind of odd.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 1: You know, when I grew up, it was the Pony Express,
- 27:03Speaker 1: Bobby Collins, Eric Dickerson and so on, And of course
- 27:08Speaker 1: they were winning before getting the death penalty, and then
- 27:11Speaker 1: they were out in no man's land for the most
- 27:13Speaker 1: part for a long long time. And then, like you said,
- 27:17Speaker 1: Dykes was able to come in and win. Lastly, drove
- 27:19Speaker 1: him to the college football Playoff two years ago and
- 27:22Speaker 1: they got pretty much embarrassed by Penn State. Well and
- 27:25Speaker 1: in Happy Valley. Right, they're supposed to get him now
- 27:29Speaker 1: they're an acc right. Golly, yeah, that's gonna take you
- 27:33Speaker 1: a minute. Yeah, I don't like it. I get it.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I get it. Larry Brown went through SMU as a
- 27:39Speaker 1: head basketball coach, which is crazy. Larry's had like thirty
- 27:43Speaker 1: four job Now He's won an NBA title, A and
- 27:48Speaker 1: a college basketball National championship. But he couldn't never stay
- 27:52Speaker 1: anywhere more than two years now. He looked really good
- 27:55Speaker 1: two years ago in the crowd as I was watching
- 27:59Speaker 1: miss in State abus Mississippi State in an NCAA tournament
- 28:02Speaker 1: basketball game. But he was he was dressed like money,
- 28:09Speaker 1: just I mean great looking, uh you know, black shirt,
- 28:16Speaker 1: black pants, looked like he was going to you know,
- 28:20Speaker 1: some kind of really cool party. Oh, Larry Brown, he
- 28:24Speaker 1: definitely parties. Yeah. Dean Smith's played for for Dean early
- 28:28Speaker 1: right early. But by the Baltimore Bullets, I did not
- 28:32Speaker 1: know that. I guess they turned into the Washington Bullets.
- 28:35Speaker 2: They did.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I'm assuming because I do remember Jeff Malone playing for
- 28:39Speaker 1: the Washington Bullets. Now they're the Wizards. They had to
- 28:41Speaker 1: take bullets out because it was Yeah. Yeah, I had
- 28:45Speaker 1: a Bullets jersey growing up. You know, those things were cool.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I don't know if Jeff Rutland wore well, but those Yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 1: they had the red, white and blue going and it
- 28:58Speaker 1: was very it was very seventiess in the eighties. Yes,
- 29:02Speaker 1: I remember going to watch the Bullets play in DC.
- 29:04Speaker 1: I've told this story with Jeff Bloe and Alex English
- 29:08Speaker 1: and uh, which, there's my basketball. I may I may
- 29:12Speaker 1: have to get that sleep with it the next few
- 29:14Speaker 1: nights night. Well, I don't think I can do that
- 29:15Speaker 1: at the hotel and Louisville. But anyway, when I get back,
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'll get the mojo going. Yeah, those jerseys were cool
- 29:24Speaker 1: because they were throwback before throwback, right, you know they
- 29:28Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty four they look like nineteen seventy five.
- 29:31Speaker 1: You see where I'm going down, Yeah, kind of like
- 29:34Speaker 1: San Diego Padres in eighty four with Tony Gwyn It
- 29:36Speaker 1: looked like a nineteen seventy five uniform. And that's why
- 29:39Speaker 1: I think that's why you gravitated to it. Yeah, and
- 29:43Speaker 1: their comfort colors fair enough brown, orange, yellow. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 1: that's that's kind of uh. I don't know what to
- 29:51Speaker 1: h he pushing the edge with that. I know this.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Their uniforms today look a lot cooler. I mean, I
- 29:58Speaker 1: like nostalgic. WHI you like them and you think of
- 30:02Speaker 1: like you could see John Travolta wearing the San Diego
- 30:05Speaker 1: Padres jersey in nineteen eighty four. Right, but good. But
- 30:13Speaker 1: now they've incorporated the blue yes into their uniforms and
- 30:17Speaker 1: it looks really good. They've they've gone a little bit
- 30:20Speaker 1: back to the old brown and yellow.
- 30:22Speaker 2: They have it.
- 30:23Speaker 1: It's their main home jersey. Okay, because they look good
- 30:26Speaker 1: though they're you know, they're slit. Yeah. What they've done
- 30:29Speaker 1: the last fifteen years is impressive. I haven't made it
- 30:32Speaker 1: out to pet Cove, but people rave about it, so
- 30:36Speaker 1: it may not still be. But okay, yeah, yeah, Renfro
- 30:41Speaker 1: was smashing that building out there to the behind. Renfro
- 30:45Speaker 1: had a hell of a run for ten years. I
- 30:46Speaker 1: mean yeah, Crystal springs On I think it's Crystal Capie Academy. Yeah, yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 1: you know, when you think about Hunter Renfro speaking of
- 30:55Speaker 1: the Padres and switching back to Local and him playing
- 30:59Speaker 1: for the Padres for a while. That's a pretty incredible
- 31:03Speaker 1: story that he was going to Meridian Community College until
- 31:07Speaker 1: the week of going to mrity In Community College, and
- 31:11Speaker 1: I guess Lane Burrow's finally taught John Cohent into offering him.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'm sure it wasn't much. And he ends up going
- 31:19Speaker 1: to Mississippi State and sits for a long time and
- 31:24Speaker 1: then has his magical third year and the rest is history. Yeah. Ah,
- 31:29Speaker 1: did he enter the scene? Man, I remember, I don't
- 31:32Speaker 1: know if you remember when? Was that he was a
- 31:35Speaker 1: September call up? August call up? Was he he was
- 31:38Speaker 1: there for the last two weeks of the year. Yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I know. They like to do that with bomb after
- 31:43Speaker 1: bomb after bile was ridiculous. Man. I love that he
- 31:47Speaker 1: was putting dents out there and that, uh because they
- 31:49Speaker 1: have that metal thing out there at Peko. Yeah, whenever
- 31:52Speaker 1: it hits the roof, you know it. So he's out
- 31:54Speaker 1: there putting, you know, dents in it. Let's go with
- 31:57Speaker 1: Saban's win over Ohio State.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Her.
- 32:00Speaker 1: This is Rhys Davis. We're gonna drop this. Let's switch gears.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Let's talk some sec football. That was fun out of

- 33:06Speaker 1: We talked about Nick Saban yesterday and if Drew Brees
- 33:10Speaker 1: goes to the Miami Dolphins, nick Saban doesn't go to
- 33:14Speaker 1: the University of Alabama, and then what does that look
- 33:18Speaker 1: like for you in your team from two thousand and
- 33:23Speaker 1: whatever eight to about twenty twenty one, what does that
- 33:27Speaker 1: look like? And if Breese doesn't go to New Orleans.
- 33:30Speaker 1: What does that look like for Saints fans? Are you
- 33:33Speaker 1: just seven and nine, eight and eight? Oh Jackson saying
- 33:38Speaker 1: five and this is before I go into seventeen games,
- 33:40Speaker 1: five and eleven, whatever. But that changed everything for the
- 33:46Speaker 1: Saints and everything for Alabama and the Dolphins haven't been
- 33:52Speaker 1: to the AFC Championship Game and forever so. But Saban
- 33:59Speaker 1: there was there was a moment in the nineties where
- 34:01Speaker 1: he wasn't going to get out of Michigan State. I mean,
- 34:06Speaker 1: he's basically a five hundred coach. A little bit more.
- 34:11Speaker 1: And Rhees Davis, who's also an Alabama alum and got
- 34:16Speaker 1: to know Saban as much as you can, talks about
- 34:19Speaker 1: Saban's win over Ohio State when he was at Michigan
- 34:24Speaker 1: State and kind of had his back against the wall
- 34:26Speaker 1: here it is.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I asked him once, I said, when did you change
- 34:32Speaker 4: from being the old school, hard nosed guy? And he
- 34:36Speaker 4: changed right around the time of maybe his most famous
- 34:39Speaker 4: win at Michigan State when they upset Ohio State. Ohio
- 34:42Speaker 4: State was number one. And he has worked for years
- 34:44Speaker 4: and maintains a close relationship with a tremendous psychologist named
- 34:49Speaker 4: doctor Lannie Roseen at Michigan State, and he said he
- 34:52Speaker 4: didn't think they could win the game. Nick didn't think
- 34:54Speaker 4: they could beat Ohio State, and there was plenty of
- 34:56Speaker 4: reason not to think that. They were five hundred team
- 34:58Speaker 4: Ohio State was number one, and he said to doctor roseniy,
- 35:02Speaker 4: he said, what am I going to tell a team?
- 35:04Speaker 4: I don't really think we can win? And doctor Rosen said,
- 35:08Speaker 4: you have got to stop being transactional with the players
- 35:12Speaker 4: and be transformational in terms of the relationship with them,
- 35:15Speaker 4: and we put up He told the story then on
- 35:18Speaker 4: game day and we put up his record before and
- 35:21Speaker 4: I want to say it was maybe five games over
- 35:23Speaker 4: five hundred when Michigan State they were getting a little restless.
- 35:26Speaker 4: When Nick Saban, he's not winning enough. They beat Ohio
- 35:29Speaker 4: State and from that point forward he became Nick Saban
- 35:33Speaker 4: and the winning percentages off the charge. Two hundred some
- 35:37Speaker 4: odd games over five hundred or whatever.
- 35:40Speaker 1: How about that. That's Rhees Davis, host of College Game Day,
- 35:44Speaker 1: as you know, talking about Saban beating Ohio State, and
- 35:51Speaker 1: that changed the whole game, which then put him on
- 35:55Speaker 1: the radar for Southern cal and LSU and Sexton told
- 36:01Speaker 1: him to take LSU. Wow, And then Saban looked at him.
- 36:05Speaker 1: This is funny. I heard this years later. Saban was like,
- 36:11Speaker 1: oh yeah, Southern Cow is a bad job. And this
- 36:14Speaker 1: is when Pete Carroll was winning, you know, because Sex
- 36:17Speaker 1: was like, now you want LSU, not Southern col. And
- 36:20Speaker 1: of course he and Carol were winning at a high level,
- 36:23Speaker 1: you know, right out of gate O one, O two,
- 36:25Speaker 1: O three, right oh four from there. But I think
- 36:30Speaker 1: that that was funny because Southern Cow was loading the
- 36:32Speaker 1: boat out there and LSU was loading the boat in
- 36:35Speaker 1: the early two thousands in Baton Rouge. Both both modernized.
- 36:43Speaker 1: It's funny that two NFL coaches walked into LSU and
- 36:49Speaker 1: Southern col who had been you know, in disarray, couldn't
- 36:55Speaker 1: couldn't figure it out. I mean, two places that should
- 36:57Speaker 1: always win. Maybe you're not gonna win just every year,
- 37:00Speaker 1: but should always win, right, and both walk in. Nick
- 37:05Speaker 1: Saban walks in LSU, majority of his career is NFL.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Pete Carroll walks in Southern cal. And they modernize the
- 37:17Speaker 1: recruiting at both places and modernize the strength and conditioning
- 37:21Speaker 1: programs at both places. And what happened right off the
- 37:26Speaker 1: runway right at forty thousand feet flying, you know, one
- 37:31Speaker 1: thousand miles per hour, and their monsters. We'll see what
- 37:35Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley does at Southern Cal. He's doing pretty good.
- 37:38Speaker 1: He's not the deal though. You've had three Big Ten
- 37:41Speaker 1: teams win it and Oregon go to the College Football
- 37:44Speaker 1: Playoff two and Southern Cow has been kind of on
- 37:47Speaker 1: the sideline as Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan have won back
- 37:51Speaker 1: to back to back or have won it those three
- 37:55Speaker 1: and then Oregon's been good. I think Southern Cow is
- 37:59Speaker 1: ready to make state in the Big Ten, which is
- 38:01Speaker 1: weird to say, but that's what happened. Pete Carroll and
- 38:05Speaker 1: Nick Saban modernized recruiting, modernize the strength and conditioning program
- 38:12Speaker 1: in two thousand, let's just say the year two thousand
- 38:15Speaker 1: and then often running for Southern Cow at LSU. Yeah,
- 38:23Speaker 1: I mean they were such they think about they were
- 38:30Speaker 1: cruising at such a high level that eddieo could go
- 38:36Speaker 1: six and two as an interim coach at Southern Cal
- 38:39Speaker 1: and win the national championship at LSU. That tells you
- 38:43Speaker 1: how they're different from other programs. There are other programs
- 38:46Speaker 1: who think they're that, oh yeah, we can go on.
- 38:49Speaker 1: You'll never go on autopilot. Those programs can go on
- 38:52Speaker 1: autopilot for a second and still win. Most programs regard,
- 38:56Speaker 1: even like really good ones, go on autopilot, you lose
- 38:59Speaker 1: every thing in seconds. You know, I thought that was
- 39:05Speaker 1: pretty good. The Dancing Rabbit golf text line is six
- 39:08Speaker 1: to ozho one eight eight five three seven seven six.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I love that. Lonnie Rosen, the psychologist, told Nick Saban
- 39:15Speaker 1: at Michigan State, You're gonna have to stop being transactional
- 39:20Speaker 1: and be transformational. Saban got the transactional part from the NFL.
- 39:26Speaker 1: The NFL's you don't have to have relates. You've got job.
- 39:30Speaker 1: You got to do it or you get cut. I mean,
- 39:32Speaker 1: people are already getting cut right now in the NFL,
- 39:34Speaker 1: and now we'll have you know, another five hundred players
- 39:36Speaker 1: get cut over the next few weeks. Right by the way,
- 39:40Speaker 1: Drew Brees is going into the Pro Football Hall of
- 39:42Speaker 1: Fame August eighth, number nine. Who'd at Nation and won't
- 39:49Speaker 1: be a dry eye in the house. It's National Asagnia Day,
- 39:53Speaker 1: brought to you by Taste Italian Kitchen. In the Renaissance
