- Lucas: Okay, Luna, ready for another episode? Luna: Absolutely! I love these sessions. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to learn how to ask for directions in Malay. Super useful if you're out and about. Luna: Oh good, because I always get lost. So, how do I ask 'where is...'? Lucas: The phrase is 'Di mana?' — it means 'where'. Luna: Di mana? Lucas: Yes! And you can add a place after it. For example, 'Di mana stesen bas?' — where is the bus station? Luna: Di mana stesen bas? That's straightforward. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's learn how to give directions. First, 'belok kiri' — turn left. Luna: Belok kiri. Lucas: Good. And 'belok kanan' — turn right. Luna: Belok kanan. That's easy to remember. Lucas: And 'jalan terus' — go straight. Luna: Jalan terus. So if someone says 'jalan terus', I just keep going straight? Lucas: Perfect. Also, 'di sebelah' means 'next to'. So you can say 'Di sebelah kedai' — next to the shop. Luna: Di sebelah kedai. Great. So if I ask 'Di mana restoran?' and someone says 'Belok kiri, di sebelah bank', I know what to do. Lucas: Exactly! You've got it. Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're looking for a hotel. You ask a stranger... Luna: OK. 'Di mana hotel?' Lucas: And the stranger says 'Belok kanan, jalan terus, di sebelah pasar'. Luna: So turn right, go straight, next to the market. I think I can follow that. Lucas: You're doing great! Let's say the phrases together one more time. Repeat after me: Di mana? Luna: Di mana? Lucas: Belok kiri. Luna: Belok kiri. Lucas: Belok kanan. Luna: Belok kanan. Lucas: Jalan terus. Luna: Jalan terus. Lucas: Di sebelah. Luna: Di sebelah. Lucas: Awesome. Now, you know, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Malay, we really appreciate when listeners support the show. And if someone says 'Belok kiri, di sebelah pokok besar'? Luna: Turn left, next to the big tree. Got it. Lucas: You're a natural. Keep practicing these phrases. See you next time! Luna: See you!
